Munich. Next year, the only DP World Tour tournament on German soil will take place at Golfclub München Eichenried from 26th to 30th May – that is roughly one month earlier than in previous years. Golf fans can look forward to a first at the 38th BMW International Open: two-time Masters winner Bubba Watson (USA) will play at an official tournament in Germany for the first time. The self-taught, intuitive player has developed a playing style that is as unconventional as it is attractive. One of the features of “Bubba Golf” is the ball’s breathtaking trajectories. Michael Hollick demonstrated emphatically that he is more than capable of hitting his own spectacular golf shots in Munich in July: needing an eagle on the final hole for victory, the South African took on a risky tee shot, landed a perfect second shot on the green, and sunk a textbook six-metre putt to clinch the title. It was one of the most remarkable finishes in 37 years of the BMW International Open.

I’m really looking forward to playing the BMW International Open. It’s a tournament with a lot of history, and you look at the names that have won it over the years, and that’s pretty special. BMW is known in the golfing world for outstanding events, and I’ve seen that firsthand back home in the States. They know how to make it a great experience for the players and the fans. I’m excited to get over to Munich, play a new event, and experience a city that’s so closely connected to BMW.

The BMW International Open will always have a very special place in my heart. After all, this is where I won my first title on the DP World Tour. However, that is far from the only thing that makes it a special tournament. The way we are looked after all week is phenomenal, the facility is fantastic, and the support we receive from the fans is awesome. I can hardly wait to experience all that again.

We are very pleased that, with Bubba Watson’s debut at the 2027 BMW International Open, we are able to present a two-time Major winner who has that certain something. Michael Hollick has also shown that he knows how to thrill the crowds, with his remarkable victory in July. It is already looking as though we will once again keep its promise to offer spectators a special experience at the 38th staging of the most prestigious golf tournament in Germany in May 2027.
