Milestone vehicle is a BMW M4 Convertible for the North American market
Vehicle production at the site dates back to 1973
Dingolfing. The 13 millionth BMW produced at BMW Group Plant Dingolfing rolled off the assembly line just a few days ago. The milestone vehicle is a BMW M4 Convertible in Borusan Turkish Blue, destined for the US market. Since vehicle production began at the site in 1973, more BMW vehicles have been manufactured in Dingolfing than at any other BMW Group vehicle plant worldwide.
The first BMW built in Dingolfing was completed on 27 September 1973: a first-generation BMW 5 Series. More than five decades later, the plant ranks among the largest and most flexible automotive production sites in Europe. Today, it manufactures the BMW 4 Series, BMW 5 Series and BMW 7 Series models, as well as the all-electric BMW iX. From November, the new BMW 3 Series Sedan will also be produced in Dingolfing.
The various model lines and drivetrain variants are manufactured flexibly alongside one another on the production lines in the plant’s two assembly halls. More than 80 percent of all vehicles produced are destined for export markets.
The BMW Group has a strong industrial base in Germany. In 2025, the company produced more than one million vehicles at its German plants. This means that around one in four vehicles manufactured in Germany was a BMW or MINI.
Thirteen million vehicles are the result of the dedication, expertise and commitment of generations of employees. Over the decades, they have made Plant Dingolfing what it is today: a key pillar of the BMW Group’s global production network. Our competitive advantage lies in our highly skilled and motivated workforce. Their flexibility, willingness to embrace new approaches and determination to harness the opportunities offered by digitalisation and artificial intelligence are key to ensuring our long-term competitiveness and future success.
