Goodwood, England, July 14, 2003 ... Almost 150,000 visitors savored the pure,
unadulterated racing atmosphere this past weekend at the Goodwood Festival of
Speed. The focal theme was the anniversary of the Formula One Championship won
by the BMW Brabham Team in 1983. Twenty years ago, Nelson Piquet claimed the
World Championship title in the BMW-powered, 1,300-horsepower Brabham BT52B BMW
racecar. At Goodwood, he climbed into this World Championship car once again
for the first time in two decades. This was also the first time that the
members of the 1983 Formula One team have been assembled together since that
fateful race.

This was also a special weekend for BMW Group Mobile Tradition. Multi-world
Formula One and motorcycle champion John Surtees presented BMW Group Mobile
Tradition with an original BMW RS 500 Kompressor. Holger Lapp, head of BMW
Group Mobile Tradition, accepted the supercharged motorcycle on behalf of BMW
Group Mobile Tradition. It is the only RS 500 Kompressor in existence that is
perfectly preserved in pre-war condition.

A detailed press release regarding the Goodwood grounds and the history of the
event was posted in the BMW PressClub on July 10, 2003.
