Munich. Parallel to the launch of the new BMW 8
Series, the new BMW M8 model family, the BMW iX M60 (power consumption
combined: 24.5 – 21.9 kWh/100 km according to WLTP; CO2
emissions: 0 g/km) and the special edition BMW X2 Goldplay, BMW is
increasing the appeal of numerous other models with additional drive
variants and equipment features as of spring 2022. From March 2022,
new model variants will expand the range for the BMW 2 Series Coupé,
the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer and the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé. The
Parking Assistant Professional, presented for the first time, is
optionally available for all model variants of the BMW iX and allows
the vehicle to be manoeuvred via smartphone. The My BMW app also
features additional functions that make charging the high-voltage
battery in the purely electric and plug-in hybrid BMW models even more convenient.

New driver assistance systems, which are optionally available in the
BMW 2 Series Active Tourer as well as the BMW X3 and BMW X4 models,
provide added comfort. In addition, the range of body finishes,
upholstery variants and light-alloy wheels for the BMW 4 Series Gran
Coupé, the BMW i4, the BMW iX and the BMW M5 (fuel consumption
combined: 11.3 – 11.1 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 259
– 253 g/km according to WLTP) receives further variants. To mark the
50th anniversary of BMW M GmbH, particularly striking "BMW
Motorsport" emblems are optionally available for BMW M
automobiles in conjunction with an M sports package.

Additional engine variant for the new BMW 2 Series Coupé.

Sheer driving pleasure in the BMW 2 Series Coupé can be experienced
in a further variant from March 2022. The fourth engine option for the
dynamic two-door model is a 2.0 litre 4-cylinder petrol engine with an
output of 180 kW/245 hp and a maximum torque of 400 Nm. The new drive
unit will feature in the BMW 230i Coupé (fuel consumption combined:
7.2 – 6.5 l/100 km; CO2 emissions: 163 – 149 g/km according
to WLTP) with classic rear-wheel drive. Power delivery and emissions
behaviour have been optimised by an exhaust manifold integrated into
the cylinder head and an advanced turbocharging system for the BMW
TwinPower Turbo technology.

The new engine is combined with an 8-speed Steptronic sports
transmission as standard. The range of equipment and functions
includes gearshift paddles on the steering wheel and Launch Control,
which enables the new BMW 230i Coupé to accelerate from a standstill
to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds. Among other things, an M sports
differential in the final drive is available as an option for the new
model variant.

New BMW 2 Series Active Tourer now also with BMW xDrive,
additional body finishes and optimised Driving Assistant Plus.

Versatile functionality, hallmark driving pleasure and distinctive
dynamic design characterise the second generation of the BMW 2 Series
Active Tourer, which will also be available with intelligent all-wheel
drive from March 2022. The new BMW 223i xDrive Active Tourer (fuel
consumption combined: 7.1 – 6.5 l/100 km; CO2 emissions:
160 – 148 g/km according to WLTP) is the fifth model variant of the
modern all-rounder in the premium compact segment. Its BMW xDrive
system transfers the power of a 4-cylinder petrol engine with 48-volt
mild hybrid technology to all four wheels as required. The drive of
the new BMW 223i xDrive Active Tourer delivers 160 kW/218 hp,
generated jointly by its combustion engine with up to 150 kW/204 hp
and the electric drive with up to 14 kW/19 hp. The electric auxiliary
drive contributes to a particularly spontaneous accelerating response.
The new model variant sprints from a standstill to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds.

The new Piedmont Red metallic body finish will also be available from
March 2022 for the new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer. In addition, the
range of functions of the optionally available Driving Assistant Plus
has been expanded to include Steering and Lane Guidance Assist. At
speeds of up to 180 km/h, the system uses corrective steering
interventions to help the driver keep the new BMW 2 Series Active
Tourer in the centre of the lane. The steering assistance also ensures
that a suitable distance to lane markings and vehicles on the adjacent
lane is maintained when driving through narrow spaces, for example at
motorway construction sites. In addition, Driving Assistant Plus
includes Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go function, including
automatic Speed Limit Assist. This is based on the Speed Limit Info
system with anticipatory display of speed limits and overtaking bans.

Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go function now also
available for the BMW X3 and BMW X4.

The range of optionally available driver assistance systems will also
be extended for the BMW X3 and BMW X4 models as of spring 2022. Active
Cruise Control with Stop & Go function will be available for the
Sports Activity Vehicle and the Sports Activity Coupé in the premium
mid-size class from April 2022.

Unlike the already standard cruise control with braking function, it
not only keeps the desired speed between 30 and 160 km/h constant, but
also the distance to vehicles ahead, which can be selected by the
driver in four stages. Distance control is carried out by means of a
radar sensor integrated into the front bumper and, if necessary, makes
the vehicle decelerate to a standstill. The range of functions also
includes automatic restarting after short intermediate stops of up to
three seconds. In addition, the system offers the driver the option of
adopting speed limits registered by the Systems Speed Limit Info
traffic sign recognition system as the new desired speed at the touch
of a button.

New BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé with further all-wheel-drive
variant.

The model range for the new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé will include a
further variant as of spring 2022. The BMW 430i xDrive Gran Coupé
(fuel consumption combined: 7.9 – 7.1 l/100 km; CO2
emissions: 180 – 162 g/km according to WLTP) is the third model in the
range in which intelligent all-wheel drive delivers particularly
superior power transmission. The BMW xDrive system distributes the
power generated by a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine with an output of 180
kW/245 hp and a maximum torque of 400 Nm to all four wheels as required.

The standard equipment of the new BMW 430i xDrive Gran Coupé also
includes an 8-speed Steptronic transmission. This combination of
engine, transmission and all-wheel drive enables acceleration from
zero to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds.

New equipment options for the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé and the
BMW i4.

In addition to the new drive variant, the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé
will also offer numerous additional options for customising the
exterior and interior from March 2022. These are also available for
the all-electric BMW i4 and include new body finishes and leather
trims as well as an M Carbon exterior package.

The BMW Individual special paint finishes Brilliant White metallic
and Frozen Dark Grey metallic are new to the range of body colours. In
addition, the BMW Individual body finishes Frozen Pure Grey metallic
and Frozen Portimao Blue metallic are also available for the
respective BMW M automobiles and in conjunction with the M Sport
model. The BMW i4 M50 (power consumption combined: 22.5 – 18.0 kWh/100
km according to WLTP; CO2 emissions: 0 g/km) for which the
M Carbon exterior package was exclusively reserved so far, will also
be available for all other model variants of the BMW i4 and the BMW 4
Series Gran Coupé from March 2022, also in conjunction with the M
Sport model. It includes surrounds for the air curtains in the front
apron, exterior mirror caps, a rear spoiler and diffuser insert trims
made of the equally light and striking carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic.

In the interior of the BMW i4 and the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé,
customers can select particularly high-quality features with the
extended BMW Individual Merino leather upholstery in the colour
variants Black, Ivory White, Tartufo, Fjord Blue/Black and Fiona
Red/Black. For an even more exclusive ambience, the BMW Individual
full leather Merino interior, available in the same colours, also
includes leather upholstery on the instrument panel. In addition,
individual interior design preferences can also be fulfilled from
March 2022 onwards thanks to special upholstery from the BMW
Individual programme.

Parking Assistant Professional premieres in the BMW iX.

The BMW iX underpins its status as a technology flagship with the
premiere of a new and unique system for automated parking. Available
from March 2022 for all model variants, Parking Assistant Professional
enables particularly convenient parking in automated driving mode.

Using GPS and trajectory data defined by steering movements, the
system can store various manoeuvres with a route length of up to 200
metres each. When arriving again at the respective starting point,
Parking Assistant Professional can then take over the complete driving
task including accelerating, braking, steering and changing between
forward and reverse gear. The driver can concentrate on monitoring the
surroundings during the automated manoeuvre.

The BMW Individual paint finish Oxid Grey metallic and 22-inch M
aerodynamic wheels in Bicolour Titanium Bronze with 3D gloss finish
are new to the equipment range for all model variants of the BMW iX.

My BMW App with new functions for convenient charging.

The My BMW App is the universal interface for communication between
the driver, the vehicle, the BMW brand and the BMW dealer. In spring
2022, its range of functions will be expanded to include digital
services from BMW Charging for convenient electric mobility. This
makes it even easier for drivers of a BMW model with purely electric
or plug-in hybrid drive to find and select public charging stations.
The My BMW app shows charging stations and their availability on a map section.

In addition, the My BMW app also makes it easier to use public
charging points. Drivers of a BMW iX or a BMW i4 can now start
charging the high-voltage battery by scanning a QR code or with just
one operating step in the My BMW app.

Individual dynamics: New body finishes for the BMW M5, classic
emblems to mark the anniversary of BMW M GmbH.

New and particularly expressive paint finishes will be available for
the BMW M5 high-performance sedan as of spring 2022. The exterior of
the high-performance model can now also be given an individual look
with the body finishes Sophisto Grey Brilliant Effect metallic, San
Remo Green metallic and Skyscraper Grey metallic as well as with the
BMW Individual paint finish Frozen Deep Grey metallic.

A historic logo also makes a comeback in the BMW M GmbH anniversary
year. The classic "BMW Motorsport" emblems for the engine
compartment lid, tailgate and wheel hub covers are available on
request for all of the brand's performance and high-performance sports
cars, as well as for BMW models delivered as an M Sport model or with
an M sports package. Their design is based on the logo in the colours
blue, purple and red, which was first used in 1973 on the racing cars
of BMW Motorsport GmbH, which had been established the year before. On
the occasion of its 50th anniversary, BMW M GmbH is offering its
customers the opportunity to express their passion for racing and
their sense of tradition with these historic emblems.

Munich. The sales launch of the BMW iX and the BMW i4
in November 2021 marks the beginning of a new era of purely electric
premium mobility. In addition to sustainable driving pleasure, the two
new models also offer the latest innovations in the field of driver
assistance systems and, with the new generation of the BMW iDrive
operating system, represent the future of intuitive interaction
between driver and vehicle. Parallel to this, the BMW model range will
also undergo targeted further development in autumn 2021. Additional
drive variants and innovations in the areas of design and digital
services increase the diversity and attractiveness of the current range.

The model range of the new BMW 4 Series Convertible will be expanded
by three new drive variants from November 2021. In future, an 8-speed
Steptronic transmission will be standard equipment for one additional
model variant each of the BMW X1 and the BMW X2. New paint finishes
are available for the BMW 1 Series, BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé, BMW X2,
BMW X3 and BMW X4 models. The functional scope of the My BMW App is
complemented by further digital services. The BMW i brand is not only
setting trends with its two new models. The pioneer of all-electric
premium mobility, the BMW i3, will be offered in a limited Unique
Forever Edition from November 2021. And in the BMW iX3, a predictive
battery heat management system will optimise the way in which DC fast
charging stations will be used in the future.

BMW 4 Series Convertible: Two additional BMW M automobiles and
a further all-wheel drive model.
The combination of
sporty performance and open-air pleasure in a BMW 4 Series model will
be enriched even further in autumn 2021. In the new BMW M 440i
Convertible (combined fuel consumption: 8.3 – 7.7 l/100 km according
to WLTP; combined CO2 emissions: 190 - 175 g/km according
to WLTP), a 275 kW/374 hp inline 6-cylinder petrol engine with 48-volt
mild hybrid technology ensures particularly purist driving pleasure by
transferring its power to the rear wheels. An 8-speed Steptronic
sports transmission and an M sports differential in the final drive
also contribute to the thrilling driving dynamics as standard. This is
reflected, among other things, by accerlation from 0 - 100 km/h from
standstill in 5.2 seconds.

An inline 6-cylinder diesel engine and the intelligent BMW xDrive
all-wheel drive system make the second new BMW M automobile a
thrilling open-top drive. With a peak output of 250 kW/340 hp, a
maximum torque of 700 Nm and 48-volt mild hybrid technology, the new
BMW M440d xDrive Convertible (combined fuel consumption: 6.6 – 6.0
l/100 km according to WLTP; combined CO2 emissions:
172 - 157 g/km according to WLTP) has impressive pulling power.
5.0 seconds are sufficient for the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h. An
8-speed Steptronic sports transmission and an M sports differential
are also standard equipment in this model variant.

In addition, the model range for the open-top four-seater in the
premium mid-size segment is expanded to include the new BMW 430i
xDrive Convertible (combined fuel consumption: 8.1 – 7.3 l/100 km
according to WLTP; combined CO2 emissions: 183 - 166 g/km
according to WLTP). With its 180 kW/245 hp 4-cylinder petrol engine,
an 8-speed Steptronic transmission and intelligent all-wheel drive, it
accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 6.3 seconds. The 8-speed
Steptronic sports transmission and the M sports differential are
optionally available for this model.

BMW X1 xDrive18d and BMW X2 xDrive18d now feature 8-speed
Steptronic transmission as standard.
Driving pleasure
and comfort will be enhanced in autumn 2021 as the 8-speed Steptronic
transmission is included in further model variants of the BMW X1 and
BMW X2 as standard. The fast and efficient automatic transmission is
characterised by a high level of shifting comfort and a particularly
favourable internal efficiency. In future, it will also be available
as standard with the 110 kW/150 hp 4-cylinder diesel engine of the BMW
X1 xDrive18d models (combined fuel consumption: 6.1 – 5.4 l/100 km
according to WLTP; combined CO2 emissions: 159 – 142 g/km
according to WLTP) and the BMW X2 xDrive18d (combined fuel
consumption: 6.1 – 5.4 l/100 km according to WLTP; combined
CO2 emissions: 160 - 142 g/km according to WLTP).

With the new drive combination, both models accelerate from zero to
100 km/h in 9.4 seconds. An optional 8-speed Steptronic sports
transmission is also available, operated by paddle shifts on the
steering wheel.

New paint finishes for numerous model
series.
New paint finishes for numerous current BMW
models allow for additional customisation opportunities. The
Skyscraper Grey metallic variant will be available for the BMW 1
Series, the BMW X2 and the BMW X3 from November 2021. Also new to the
range are the BMW Individual paint finishes Frozen Pure Grey metallic
for the BMW 1 Series and the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé, as well as
Aventurine Red metallic for the BMW X3 and the BMW X4.

My BMW App with extended range of
functions.
Planning travel routes and transferring them
to the car, receiving information about the car’ status and live
images from its surroundings, arranging service appointments or
receiving news from the brand - the My BMW app makes all this possible
on the customer's smartphone. It serves as a universal interface for
communication between car and customer, the BMW brand and the BMW
dealer. The range of functions of the My BMW App will be expanded
again in autumn 2021. In future, for example, the images transmitted
by the Remote 3D View service will be stored in a gallery, including
information about the location and time of the shots. The status of
the vehicle's air conditioning and ventilation is now also clearly
displayed in the My BMW app.

In addition, the My BMW app now also provides the driver with
comprehensive information on the condition of the vehicle's tyres on
his or her smartphone. The so-called digital tyre diagnosis helps to
minimise the risk of flat tyres and is available for a wide range of
models (currently BMW 1 Series, 2 Series Coupé, 2 Series Gran Coupé, 3
Series, 4 Series, Z4) and for the new i4 and iX models. The individual
tyre inflation pressures determined by the tyre pressure control are
now also displayed in the My BMW app. In addition, the digital tyre
diagnosis, which is unique in the competitive environment, can
transfer early signs of a gradual tyre pressure loss or wear to the My
BMW app and the vehicle. For this, the BMW back end uses an AI
approach to process data from the tyres to create a forecast of the
remaining distance of the tyres. In all cases, the customer receives
appropriate recommendations for action.

Intelligent battery heat management for the BMW
iX3.
To ensure the fastest and most efficient power feed
at DC fast-charging stations, regardless of operating and outside
temperatures, the BMW iX3 (combined power consumption: 19.0 - 18.6
kWh/100 km according to WLTP, 17.8 - 17.5 kWh/100 km according to
NEDC) will be equipped with a pre-heating function for the
high-voltage battery from November 2021. At the customer's request, it
ensures that the battery is preconditioned while driving to a direct
current (DC) charging station. By heating up the high-voltage battery
accordingly, the ideal temperature for charging with maximum power is
set on arrival. Among other things, the battery temperature, the
remaining range and the state of charge of the battery are taken into account.

BMW i3 and BMW i3s in the Unique Forever
Edition.
From November 2021, the BMW i3 models (combined
electricity consumption: 16.3 - 15.3 kWh/100 km according to WLTP,
13.1 kWh/100 km according to NEDC and BMW i3s (combined electricity
consumption: 16.6 - 16.3 kWh/100 km according to WLTP, 14.6 - 14.0
kWh/100 km according to NEDC) in the Unique Forever Edition. The
naming of the new special edition refers to the unique character of
the world's first premium automobile designed from the outset for
purely electric mobility. The BMW i3 represents a holistic
understanding of sustainability not only with its drive system, but
also with its particularly lightweight passenger cell made of carbon
fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) and extensive use of natural and
recycled materials in its interior. Eight years after being launched
on the market, it is still a globally recognised symbol of locally
emission-free urban mobility.

The edition vehicles are characterised by particularly high-grade and
exclusive design and equipment features. The two BMW Individual paint
finishes, available for the first time for the BMW i3, ensure a
stylish appearance. The Aventurine Red metallic variant is combined
with an accent in Frozen Grey metallic and the Storm Bay metallic
paint finish with an accent in Frozen E-Copper. The interior surfaces
of the BMW grille are also finished in the respective accent colour.
Other special features include the omission of the trim strip and
model lettering on the luggage compartment lid and a black insert for
the rear bumper. In the interior of the edition vehicles, the contents
of the Suite equipment world - including the Vernasca Dark Truffle
leather combination, the leather instrument panel, the fine wood
surface in dark matt oak, the leather steering wheel, the Carum grey
roof lining and the ambient lighting - are supplemented by specific
design elements. The front headrests are embroidered with the words
"Unique Forever", the door trim panels in the area of the
exterior mirrors bear the inscription "One of 2,000“.

The Unique Forever Edition models are produced in a limited edition
of 2,000 units at the BMW plant in Leipzig. Only electricity generated
by the wind turbines on the factory premises is used. 350 of the
sustainably manufactured edition vehicles are available for the German market.

For the second phase of the
model cycle, BMW has refreshed its successful Sports Activity Vehicle
(SAV) BMW and the Sports Activity Coupé (SAC) BMW with a new look,
improved equipment and a range structure which has been optimised for
customers. The redesigned front end and revised rear section lend even
clearer emphasis to the robust off-road look and sporty appearance of
the third-generation BMW X3. Its coupé counterpart, the
second-generation BMW X4, adopts the new front end, adds its own
accentuation with the exclusive BMW mesh kidney grille and offers a
particularly dynamic rear end. The refresh is rounded off with a
modern interior with new equipment features and updated infotainment.
BMW M GmbH is also upgrading the M models of the BMW X3 and BMW X4 at
the same time (see here).

Modern drive technology and a clearer product structure.
The introduction of mild hybrid technology with 48-‑volt‑starter
generator now also with all petrol engines ensures a broad drive
portfolio at the cutting edge of technology. These include the BMW X3
xDrive30e (combined fuel consumption, weighted: 2.6 – 2.0 l/100 km
according to WLTP; combined power consumption, weighted: 20.5 – 18.9
kWh/100 km according to WLTP; combined CO2 emissions,
weighted: 59 – 45 g/km according to WLTP) and, at the top of the
range, particularly high-performance petrol and diesel models from
BMW M GmbH. In Germany, all BMW X3 and BMW X4 are fitted with the
all-wheel drive system BMW xDrive as standard. A new range structure
ensures a greater focus on sportiness and “X-ness” as well as enhanced
clarity through deliberate reduction. The M sports package and the
familiar M variants are available as an alternative to the standard
equipment enriched with high-quality X elements. The market launch
will get underway in summer 2021, following the start of production
at the Spartanburg plant (USA) in August 2021. The new BMW X3 and the
new BMW X4 are due to see their world premiere at the Chengdu Motor
Show in China (27 August to 5 September), while the European premiere
will take place at the IAA in Munich (7 to 12 September).

BMW X3 with classic X elements and sporty genes.
The new BMW X3 has a more modern appearance that conveys a more
powerful presence, with design changes to the front and rear and an
emphasis on classic X‑elements. The BMW kidney grille and headlights
have been redesigned along with the front apron and rear bumper, while
new graphics have been applied to the rear lights. High-quality X
elements such as underbody protection and specific side skirts in the
style of the previous X Line are already standard. The sporty genes
of the Sports Activity Vehicle are underlined by the M sports package
and the BMW X3 M40i (combined fuel consumption: 9.5 – 8.8 l/100 km
according to WLTP; combined CO2‑emissions: 216 – 199 g/km
according to WLTP) and the BMW X3 M40d (combined fuel consumption:
7.3 – 6.6 l/100 km according to WLTP; combined
CO2‑emissions: 192 – 173 g/km according to WLTP).

New BMW kidney grille and flatter
headlights.
With the redesigned BMW kidney grille,
headlights that are around ten millimetres flatter and the new front
apron, the BMW X3 looks almost like a new vehicle. More strikingly
shaped, especially in the upper area, the BMW kidney grille is larger
than before and now comprises a single-piece frame. A black bar in
which the iCam is positioned if fitted ensures visual separation of
the grille. The front headlights feature full LED technology as
standard. In addition to the optional adaptive LED headlights with
Matrix function, where the adverse weather light takes on the function
of the previously separate fog lights, the BMW Laser Light with a
range of up to 650 metres is now also available as an optional extra.

Front apron and rear apron redesigned.
Below the headlights, vertical air intakes arranged in a
triangular interpretation frame the front bumper. In the new front
apron, taut and amply-sized surfaces in body colour and the robust
underbody protection reinforce the presence and high-quality aura of
the SAV. The BMW X3 xDrive30e with plug-in hybrid drive also bears an
“electrified by i” emblem on the front wing, while an additional blue
ring adorns all BMW logos on this engine version, including those on
the wheel hub covers. The rear section of the new BMW X3 offers
greater clarity as a result of various measures. A black border gives
the full LED rear lights a more precise appearance, while the narrower
light graphic now includes a three-dimensionally modelled pincer
contour and horizontal turn signals integrated in filigree style. The
emphasis on horizontal lines, for example in the concave area at the
lower end of the tailgate, contributes to the tidy impression of the
rear. The newly designed and elaborately painted underbody protection
provides a powerful finish to the road. The new, flush-fitting
free-form tailpipe trims are larger and sportier, conveying a more
powerful presence.

M sports package with specific exterior details.
The M sports package gives the BMW X3 a sportier orientation.
The specific front apron features significantly larger air inlets and
inserts finished in high-gloss black, as well as more pronounced air
curtains. The window graphics, roof rails and BMW kidney frame and
bars are optionally available in high-gloss black. The sportier rear
bumper includes a more striking diffuser finished in Dark Shadow along
with two additional side air‑curtain‑panels in high-gloss black. The
standard trim includes the new 19-inch Y‑Spoke 887M alloy wheel in
Midnight Grey Bicolor with 245/50 R19 tyres. Additional wheels in 20
inch and 21 inch are available as an option, as well as the M sports
brake with blue or red brake calipers.

Further M insignia in the M Performance cars.
Further visual differentiation is offered by the BMW X3 M40i and
the BMW X3 M40d, which show their affiliation to the BMW M GmbH
portfolio with a specific BMW M kidney. In addition to a chrome frame,
it bears the typical M double grille bars in high-gloss black and with
an M logo. While the same aprons as in the M sports package are to be
found at the front and rear, the aerodynamically optimised M exterior
mirrors in high-gloss black, the free-form tailpipe trims in black
chrome and the striking “Two Teeth” design ensure a distinctive look.
The BMW X3 M40i and BMW X3 M40d are fitted as standard with 20‑inch M
light alloy wheels double-spoke 699M in Orbit Grey with the mixed
tyres 245/45 R20 at the front and 275/40 R20 at the rear. As an
optional extra, these wheels are available in Jet Black, while other
exclusive options include the 21-inch M light alloy wheels double
spoke 718M in Jet Black burnished.

BMW mesh kidney grille as an exclusive distinguishing feature
of the BMW X4.
The BMW X4 adopts the new front end of the BMW X3, but adds an
exclusive distinguishing feature in the form of the mesh kidney
familiar from other sporty BMW models. Compared to the BMW X3, the
adaptive LED headlights with Matrix function are already standard,
while the BMW Laser Light, which is particularly light-intensive and
has a long range, is also available as an option for the BMW X4.
Featuring flat full LED rear lights that emphasise the vehicle width
and protrude strikingly from the vehicle body in their
three-dimensional design, the rear section now has an even more
clear-cut shape in the BMW X4 revision. The new rear apron has a
tidier appearance, with an increased proportion of painted surface and
reflectors now placed vertically and lower in the bumper. The wide
free-form tailpipe trims echo the horizontal lines of the upper section.

M sports package with striking rear apron in the BMW X4.
From the M sports package onwards, the BMW X4 features the
BMW mesh kidney, the frame and inserts of which are painted in
high‑gloss black on request, as well as a new rear apron with a wide,
offset insert in the shape of an anvil. Like the side
air‑curtain‑panels, this is finished in high-gloss black and gives a
powerful overall impression that is distinctly road-oriented. As with
the BMW X3, the M sports package includes the new 19-inch alloy wheel
Y‑-Spoke 887M in Midnight Grey Bicolor with 245/50 R19 tyres as
standard. Additional 20-inch and 21-inch wheels and the M sports brake
are available as options.

BMW M insignia for the BMW X4 M40i and BMW X4 M40d.
The BMW X4 M40i (combined fuel consumption: 9.5 – 8.7 l/100 km
according to WLTP; combined CO2‑emissions: 215 – 198 g/km
according to WLTP) and the BMW X4 M40d (combined fuel
consumption: 7.3 – 6.6 l/100 km according to WLTP; combined
CO2‑emissions: 190 – 171 g/km according to WLTP) are based
on the appearance and standard equipment of the corresponding
X3 models and, like these, bear typical BMW M insignia such as
the specific BMW M kidney with chrome frame, double kidney bars in
high‑gloss black and M logo as well as the aerodynamically optimised
M exterior mirrors in high-gloss black. The rear apron with its
anvil-shaped insert is complemented by air curtain trim in high-gloss
black. Analogous to the BMW X3 M40i and BMW X3 M40d are the free-form
tailpipe trims in black chrome with the two "teeth" and the tyres.

Eleven paint finishes for the BMW X3 and one exclusively for the BMW X4.
Following the redesign of the BMW X3, BMW offers a total of
eleven paint finishes in the regular range. The metallic paint finish
Skyscraper Grey (from 12/21) is new, and as is M Brooklyn Grey
metallic from the M sports package upwards, along with the two BMW
Individual paint finishes Aventurine Red and Tanzanite Blue. The new
metallic finish Piedmont Red is available exclusively for the BMW X4.
For the first time there is also a choice of numerous special BMW
Individual paint finishes for the two models, including matt finishes
such as Frozen Deep Grey. The range of special finishes available is
to be further expanded in the future.

Significantly revised interior.
The new BMW X3 and the new BMW X4 adopt the centre console
of the current BMW 4 Series. The free-standing, central Control
Display with touch function now offers a screen diagonal of 10.25
inches as standard in all vehicles. A 12.3-inch version of the touch
display is also available as an option. The significantly improved
standard equipment now also includes sports seats with covers from a
new Sensatec generation in the new Ray grain and with perforated main
seat surfaces, as well as automatic climate control with 3-zone
control. In order to make the vehicle configuration process clearer
and more straightforward for customers, not least reducing the number
of conflicts, the complexity of the equipment lines and optional
extras has deliberately been reduced by 30 per cent. In addition to
the cupholder and a model-specific emblem, the centre console
accommodates the newly designed control island with the gear selector
lever, buttons for the start/stop system, the electric parking brake,
hill descent control and various driving experience functions as well
as the BMW Controller. The engine start button is positioned here,
too. New electroplated trim elements on the air vents add a touch of
elegance while emphasising the horizontal lines in the interior.
Additional functions are offered by the optional extra Ambient Light,
which features contour lighting above the decorative trim in the
dashboard and ambient lighting that shines gently downwards below the
accent trim to create a particularly high-quality, relaxing atmosphere
in the interior.

Hybrid technology for all engines.
The new BMW X3 and the new BMW X4 demonstrate increasing
electrification with modern hybrid technology in connection with
all seven drive systems available in Germany. In addition to the
BMW X3 xDrive30e with plug-in hybrid drive, which has been in
production since December 2019, all 4-cylinder and 6-cylinder engines
in the two model series now use 48-volt mild hybrid technology.
After the three available diesel engines were converted to the
mild‑hybrid‑system in the course of 2020, the three petrol engines are
now also being fitted with this technology including a
48‑-volt‑starter generator, ensuring even better driving performance
with lower fuel consumption and increased driving comfort. The energy
obtained by means of recuperation and stored in the 48-volt battery
can also be used for an electric boost of 8 kW/11 hp in addition to
supplying the 12‑volt on-board network.

Three diesel and three petrol engines on offer.
Seven drive options are available in Germany for the new BMW X3
and the new BMW X4, covering a power range from 135 kW/184 hp
to 265 kW/360 hp. These include three diesel engines: with
140 kW/190 hp in the BMW X3 xDrive20d (fuel consumption combined:

Munich. With the introduction of 48-volt mild hybrid
technology in additional model series from summer 2020, BMW continues
to consistently reduce fuel consumption and emissions in its current
vehicle fleet. From July and August 2020, both efficiency and dynamic
performance will be optimised in 51 models with the use of a
particularly powerful starter generator and an additional battery.
This also applies to the new in-line 6-cylinder diesel engines in the
BMW 7 Series and in the BMW X3, BMW X4, BMW X5, BMW X6 and BMW X7. Two
additional engine variants are available for the BMW 2 Series Gran
Coupé from July 2020 onwards. In numerous plug-in hybrid models, the
new BMW eDrive Zone function will ensure an automatic switch to purely
electric operating mode when entering inner city areas such as low
emission zones.

The extension of the range of standard and optional equipment
features in the areas of driver assistance systems, operation and
networking contributes to an increase in driving pleasure. A new
display and control system will be part of the standard trim in the
new BMW 3 Series from July 2020. Among other things, BMW Operating
System 7 enables use of the optional BMW Intelligent Personal
Assistant. Furthermore, in the BMW 3 Series and other model series the
range of functions of the optional Driving Assistant Professional is
supplemented by Active Navigation Guidance and the Emergency Lane
Assistant. With the optional smartphone integration, numerous current
BMW models will enable use of Android Auto in addition to Apple
CarPlay as of summer 2020.

Increased dynamic performance and reduced fuel consumption:
48-volt mild hybrid technology now in 51 BMW models.
From summer 2020 onwards, mild hybrid
technology will be used in numerous additional BMW models to provide
support and relief for the combustion engine. It consists of a 48-volt
starter generator that enables particularly intensive braking energy
recuperation along with an additional battery to store the electricity
that is generated in this way. The 48-volt battery not only supplies
the electrically operated vehicle functions, it also makes its energy
available to generate additional drive power. For this purpose the
current flows back to the starter generator, which now takes on the
role of an electric drive. This reduces the load on the combustion
engine, allowing it to run as often as possible in an
efficiency-optimised load range. What is more, the generator creates
an electric boost during acceleration. This instantly available
additional output of 8 kW/11 hp supports dynamic power delivery during
start and acceleration.

The 48-volt mild hybrid technology was first introduced in selected
model variants of the BMW 5 Series in autumn 2019. This was followed
by the BMW 3 Series models and several BMW X models. From July and
August 2020, it will be available as standard in 37 further model
variants of the BMW 3 Series, BMW 5 Series, BMW 6 Series and BMW 7
Series as well as the BMW X3, BMW X4, BMW X5, BMW X6 and BMW X7. All
in all it will ensure efficiency and dynamic performance in 51 current
BMW models.

More power, less emissions: the new in-line 6-cylinder diesel
engines with optimised BMW TwinPower Turbo Technology.
A new generation of in-line 6-cylinder engines
will make its debut in numerous BMW model series in summer 2020. These
highly efficient aluminium power units, each with a capacity of 3.0
litres, combine their extensively further developed BMW TwinPower
Turbo Technology with the new 48-volt mild hybrid system, thereby
achieving particularly significant progress within the context of BMW
EfficientDynamics. In addition to optimised turbocharging systems, the
latest version of common rail direct injection with piezo injectors
ensures that both performance and efficiency are significantly
increased in the new diesel engines. The injectors now transport fuel
to the combustion chambers in up to ten injections per cycle and at a
maximum pressure of 2,700 bar.

With maximum output increased by 15 kW/21 hp to 210 kW/286 hp, the
new diesel engine for the models BMW 730d (combined fuel consumption:
4.9 – 4.7 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 128 – 123 g/km)
and BMW 730d xDrive (combined fuel consumption: 5.2 – 5.0 l/100 km;
combined CO2 emissions: 138 – 133 g/km), BMW 730Ld
(combined fuel consumption: 5.0 – 4.8 l/100 km; combined
CO2 emissions: 130 – 126 g/km), BMW 730Ld xDrive (combined
fuel consumption: 5.3 – 5.1 l/100 km; combined CO2
emissions: 139 – 133 g/km), BMW X3 xDrive30d (combined fuel
consumption: 5.6 – 5.2 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions:
147 – 137 g/km), BMW X4 xDrive30d (combined fuel consumption:
5.6 – 5.1 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions:
146 – 136 g/km), BMW X5 xDrive30d (combined fuel consumption:
6.2 – 5.7 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 164 – 150 g/km)
und BMW X6 xDrive30d (combined fuel consumption: 6.2 – 5.7 l/100 km;
combined CO2 emissions: 162 – 149 g/km) demonstrates a
perceptibly enhanced temperament. Its particularly spontaneous power
delivery is due to the multi-stage turbocharging used for the first
time in this version of the in-line 6-cylinder diesel engine, along
with variable turbine geometry for the low-pressure stage of the
system. Increased by 30 to 650 Nm, the maximum torque of the new drive
unit goes on stream at between 1,500 and 2,500 rpm – a power boost
that especially results in enhanced sprint capacity. For example, the
BMW 730d and the BMW 730d xDrive have improved their acceleration from
zero to 100 km/h by 0.2 seconds each to 5.9 and 5.6 seconds respectively.

The new diesel engine now also used in the BMW 740d xDrive models BMW
740d xDrive (combined fuel consumption: 5.4 – 5.2 l/100 km; combined
CO2 emissions: 142 – 136 g/km), BMW 740Ld xDrive (combined
fuel consumption: 5.4 – 5.2 l/100 km; combined CO2
emissions: 143 – 137 g/km), BMW X3 M40d (combined fuel consumption:
6.0 – 5.6 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions:
157 – 148 g/km), BMW X4 M40d (combined fuel consumption:
5.9 – 5.6 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 156 – 147 g/km)
und BMW X7 xDrive40d (combined fuel consumption: 6.6 – 6.4 l/100 km;
combined CO2 emissions: 173 – 167 g/km) generates even
greater pulling power. Its multi-stage turbocharging system comprises
a high-pressure and a low-pressure turbocharger with variable turbine
geometry. As a result, a maximum torque of 700 Nm is delivered between
1,750 and 2,250 rpm. The engine reaches its peak output of 250 kW/340
hp at 4 400 rpm. In the BMW 740d xDrive, for example, this increased
power helps achieve a sprint from standstill to 100 km/h that is also
improved by 0.2 seconds to 5.0 seconds.

The two new engines are feature exhaust gas treatment technology with
engine-related components consisting of a diesel oxidation catalytic
converter and an SCR coating on the diesel particulate filter. For
optimum reduction of nitrogen oxide (NOX) emissions, a
second dosage unit is additionally integrated at the outlet of the
engine-related SCR system. As a result, the models powered by the new
in-line 6-cylinder diesel engines meet the Euro 6d emissions standard.

Expansion of the model range for the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé.
The BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé model range
will be extended from July 2020 with the addition of two new engine
variants. A new entry-level diesel engine and an additional all-wheel
drive model variant are available for the sporty, elegant four-door
model in the premium compact segment. The new BMW 218d Gran Coupé
(combined fuel consumption: 4.5 – 4.2 l/100 km; combined
CO2 emissions: 118 – 109 g/km) is powered by the latest
version of a 4-cylinder diesel engine. The BMW TwinPower Turbo
Technology in the 2.0-litre power unit now includes a two-stage
turbocharging system as well as a likewise further developed common
rail direct injection featuring solenoid valve injectors. The new
engine delivers its maximum torque of 350 Nm between 1,750 and 2,500
rpm, reaching a maximum output of 110 kW/150 hp at 4,000 rpm. The new
BMW 218d Gran Coupé accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 8.6 seconds
with the standard 6-speed manual transmission and in 8.5 seconds with
the optional 8-speed Steptronic transmission.

The second diesel engine available for the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé
delivers a maximum output of 140 kW/190 hp and a maximum torque of 400
Nm. In the new BMW 220d xDrive Gran Coupé (combined fuel consumption:
4.9 – 4.5 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 129 – 119 g/km)
it is now combined with intelligent all-wheel drive and an 8-speed
Steptronic transmission. This enables the new model variant to
accelerate from standstill to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds. Thanks to
state-of-the-art exhaust gas treatment including SCR catalytic
converter with AdBlue injection, both new models meet the Euro 6d
emissions standard.

Green light for BMW eDrive Zone: locally emissions-free travel
in the city on an automated basis.
Innovative technology from the fields of
electrification and digitalisation is combined in the new BMW eDrive
Zone function available in the premium car manufacturer’s plug-in
hybrid models. This globally unique digital service offers additional
options for making optimum use of the capabilities of emissions-free
driving. The BMW eDrive Zone function triggers an automatic switch to
purely electric operating mode as soon as the vehicle enters selected
urban areas such as low-emission zones.

BMW eDrive Zone will be a standard feature of all plug-in hybrid
models of the BMW 3 Series, BMW 5 Series and BMW 7 Series as well as
the BMW X5. The digital service uses geo-fencing technology via GPS to
identify designated areas. eDrive zones of this kind are currently
designated in some 80 cities throughout Europe. When the service is
activated, each available eDrive Zone on the navigation map is
graphically highlighted in the Control Display: a message appears to
inform the driver that the vehicle will automatically switch to
electric driving mode as soon as it enters an eDrive Zone.

From summer 2020, the above-mentioned plug-in hybrid models will also
be fitted with an integrated drive-ready sound for electric power as
standard. This means that both starting and stopping the electric
drive will be accompanied by a distinctive acoustic signal. In
addition there has been an expansion of the range of preconditioning
functions, which is also a standard feature. Depending on the
equipment fitted, more functions will be available that can be
activated remotely by smartphone, in addition to interior cooling and
heating. In future it will also be possible to activate the seat
climate control before the start of a journey, for example. In the
same way it will be possible to include the seat, steering wheel,
exterior mirror and rear window heating systems in the preconditioning
for heating the interior, as well as heating of the cameras for the
driver assistance systems.

BMW 3 Series Sedan and BMW 3 Series Touring now fitted with
BMW Operating System 7 as standard.
In
the new BMW 3 Series, the latest generation of the display and control
system will be a standard feature as of summer 2020. Previously only
used in conjunction with BMW Live Cockpit Professional, BMW Operating
System 7 offers extensive individualisation and personalisation of the
content shown on the Control Display. The standard BMW Live Cockpit
now also includes a redesigned instrument cluster with a 5.1-inch
digital display at its centre. BMW Live Cockpit Plus, like BMW Live
Cockpit Professional, also includes the BMW Intelligent Personal
Assistant. This digital companion enables intuitive operation of
numerous vehicle functions via voice control (“Hey, BMW”). In the BMW
1 Series and BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé, BMW Operating System 7 will also
be part of the optional BMW Live Cockpit Plus from July 2020.

The M sports seats are new to the range of optional extras for the
new BMW 3 Series Sedan and the new BMW 3 Series Touring. They feature
excellent lateral support, a wide range of adjustment options and
headrests with embossed M logo. The M sports seats for driver and
front passenger are available in conjunction with the Model M Sport
equipment line as well as for the BMW M automobiles of the new BMW 3
Series. The choice of exterior colours for the new BMW 3 Series is
supplemented by the variant Phytonic Blue metallic.

Increased comfort and safety: Driving Assistant Professional
with additional functions.
The optional
Driving Assistant Professional is a particularly comprehensive
collection of driver assistance systems designed to optimise comfort
and safety: it is being used by BMW to pave the way to automated
driving in numerous current models. The focus is on the steering and
lane guidance assistant, which will be enhanced with additional
functions from summer 2020 in the BMW 3 Series, BMW 5 Series, BMW 6
Series and BMW 8 Series, in the BMW X5, BMW X6 and BMW X7, and in all
variants of the BMW M5 and BMW M8.

The new Active Navigation Guidance indicates lane changes that are
necessary in order to continue driving along the selected route when
destination guidance is active. The driver can then carry out this
operation conveniently with the aid of the lane change assistant.
Emergency Lane Assistant is another new function: this automatically
guides the vehicle to the ideal edge of its lane in congested
situations on motorways. In addition, Active Cruise Control with Stop
& Go function will in future include an adaptive distance control
that adapts to the respective traffic situation and environmental conditions.

Further progress is also being made in the intelligent control of the
Speed Limit Info system with No Passing Indicator. In all model
variants of the BMW 1 Series, BMW 3 Series, BMW 5 Series, BMW 6
Series, BMW 7 Series and BMW 8 Series, the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé,
the BMW Z4, the BMW X5, the BMW X6 and the BMW X7 as well as the BMW
M5, the BMW M8, the BMW X5 M and the BMW X6 M, road sign detection
will in future additionally take into account speed limits that are
restricted in time and only apply on certain days of the week. On days
other, the speed limit derived from the navigation data is displayed.

Optimised smartphone integration: Android Auto can now also be
used in the vehicle in addition to Apple CarPlay.
Depending on the model series, either standard
or optional smartphone integration will enable use not just of Apple
CarPlay but also of the digital services provided by Android Auto in
numerous current BMW models as of summer 2020. This means that owners
of a smartphone with the Android operating system can now access their
familiar smartphone apps in the vehicle, just like users of an Apple
iPhone. These include the digital voice assistant Google Assistant,
the map service Google Maps, music streaming services such as Spotify
and Amazon Music, and the messaging service WhatsApp.

The systems are integrated directly in the vehicle's display and
control system via a wireless LAN connection between the respective
smartphone and the vehicle. Here, the driver can view all the
important information from the apps on the Control Display and also
navigation directions in the instrument cluster and the optional
Head-Up Display.

BMW 7 Series and BMW 8 Series with optimised Integral Active
Steering.
Sporty flair and ride comfort
in the BMW 7 Series luxury sedans and the luxury sports cars of the
BMW 8 Series benefit from Integral Active Steering. The optional
suspension system combines a variable rack and pinion ratio on the
front axle with selective co-steering of the rear wheels. Even at
particularly low speeds of less than 3 km/h, the rear wheels are now
countersteered. This gives the models of the BMW 7 Series and BMW 8
Series additional manoeuvrability when moving slowly in and out of
parking spaces or passing through narrow gaps.

In addition, the BMW 7 Series will be available from July 2020 in the
new exterior paint finish Phytonic Blue metallic and the BMW
Individual paint finish Frozen Bluestone metallic. A fresh touch of
luxury ambience is added to the interior with the BMW Individual
leather steering wheel as well as the new version of the BMW
Individual Merino full leather trim in the colour combination Smoke
White/Night Blue/Black.

Extended Business Package for the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer
and the BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer, new body finishes for the BMW i3
and numerous other models
The Business
Package available for the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer and the BMW 2
Series Gran Tourer provides enhanced comfort and driving pleasure in
city traffic as well as on lengthier trips. From July 2020 onwards it
also includes Real Time Traffic Information. Another new addition to
the range is the body finish in Cashmere Silver metallic, which is
also available for the BMW X1. The BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer will also
offered in Phytonic Blue metallic and Misano Blue metallic in future.

New body finishes are available for numerous other models, too.
Phytonic Blue metallic and Sunset Orange metallic versions of the BMW
1 Series and the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé will be on offer from July
2020. The body finish Phytonic Blue metallic will also be available
for the BMW X5, BMW X6 and BMW X7 as of August 2020. What is more, the
BMW X5 and BMW X6 can be fitted with the new Carbon Fibre interior
trim finishers and M Carbon exterior mirror caps in conjunction with
the M sports package.

The purely electrically powered models BMW i3 (combined fuel

Munich. From the spring of 2020, BMW will contribute
towards a further reduction of consumption levels and the optimisation
of the emission performance of current models through the use of
systematically evolved drive technology. In parallel with the
expansion of the range of models featuring all-electric and plug-in
hybrid drive scheduled to follow during the course of the year, both
the efficiency and the exhaust emission quality of petrol-driven
vehicles will be significantly increased. This is ensured, inter
alia, by innovative mild hybrid technology which, following the BMW 5
Series, will as from March/April also be deployed in the BMW 3 Series
as well as the model series BMW X3 and BMW X4. At the same time, in
the spring of 2020, 33 further BMW models will already comply with the
Euro 6d emission standard, which will not become obligatory until 2021.

A further drive variant for the BMW 1 Series as well as additional
engines for the BMW 3 Series Sedan and the BMW 3 Series Touring will
enhance the diversity of available options in the premium compact and
premium midrange segment. Additional options for interior design
provide for greater individuality in the BMW X5, the BMW X6 and the
BMW X7.

Electric pulling power for efficiency and dynamics: Mild
hybrid technology with 48-volt starter generator for further models.

BMW is extending the use of mild hybrid technology to further models.
This innovation, first introduced in the autumn of 2019 for the four
model variants of the BMW 520d (combined fuel consumption: 4.9 – 4.1
l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 112 – 108 g/km), comprises an
extremely powerful 48-volt starter generator as well as an additional
battery, and enhances both efficiency and dynamics of vehicles
equipped with this technology. As from the spring of 2020, mild hybrid
technology will also be featured as standard in the models BMW 320d
Sedan (combined fuel consumption: 4.1 – 4.0 l/100 km; combined CO2
emissions: 107 – 105 g/km), the BMW 320d Touring (combined fuel
consumption: 4.3 – 4.2 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 112 – 109
g/km), the BMW 320d xDrive Sedan (combined fuel consumption: 4.4 – 4.3
l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 117 – 114 g/km), the BMW 320d xDrive
Touring (combined fuel consumption: 4.5 – 4.5 l/100 km; combined CO2
emissions: 119 – 117 g/km), the BMW X3 xDrive20d (combined fuel
consumption: 5.1 – 4.8 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 134 – 126
g/km) and the BMW X4 xDrive20d (combined fuel consumption: 5.1 – 4.8
l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 133 – 125 g/km).

Mild hybrid technology provides significantly greater possibilities
to make use of brake energy recuperation. The energy recuperated when
accelerating and braking is not only used to provide electrically
powered vehicle functions with energy but also to generate additional
drive power. The 48-volt starter generator delivers an additional
power output of up to 8 kW/11 hp. The electric over-boost is made
available very spontaneously, thus enhancing dynamics when starting
off and accelerating from a standstill. During the journey, the
electric over-boost can be used to support the combustion engine,
enabling it to run as frequently as possible within an
efficiency-optimised load range and to reduce consumption peaks.
Moreover, when driving within inefficient operational ranges, it is
possible to supply the 48-volt battery with additional energy from the
starter generator by raising the load point when required.

Furthermore, the 48-volt starter generator provides for exceptionally
smooth switching off as well as a faster and thus more comfortable
re-starting of the combustion engine when the Auto Start Stop function
is used at road junctions or in traffic jams. When the vehicle
decelerates, the combustion engine can be disconnected at a speed of
less than 15 km/h. The kinetic energy gained when decelerating further
to a standstill is then used for recuperation. The
efficiency-enhancing effect of the “coasting” function has also been
optimised. At a speed of up to 160 km/h, the combustion engine is no
longer switched into idle mode but is completely disconnected. During
the journey, engine re-start is also fast and comfortable. The
optimised “coasting” function is available both in the COMFORT and
ECO-PRO modes of the Driving Experience Switch.

Optimised emission performance: 40 BMW models now already
fulfil the future Euro 6d emission standard.

With yet a further optimisation of the emission performance of
numerous models, BMW is preparing well in advance for future legal
requirements governing exhaust emissions. As from the spring of 2020,
33 further models from various model series will fulfil the Euro 6d
exhaust emission standard. Consequently, 40 BMW models comply with the
demands specified by the more stringent standard a year prior to the
new emission regulation coming into force.

The vehicles that will already comply with the Euro 6d emission
standard as from the spring of 2020 include model variants of the BMW
1 Series, BMW 2 Series and BMW 3 Series as well as the BMW X1, BMW X2,
BMW X3, BMW X4, BMW X5 and the BMW X6.

New drive variants for the BMW 1 Series, the BMW 3 Series
Sedan and the BMW 3 Series Touring.

Starting in March 2020, additional drive variants will increase the
diversity of the BMW 1 Series and BMW 3 Series model range. The BMW
120d (combined fuel consumption: 4.6 – 4.3 l/100 km; combined CO2
emissions: 121 – 112 g/km) will be added to the model range in the
premium compact segment. The power generated by the car’s 2-litre,
140 kW/190 hp four-cylinder diesel power unit featuring BMW TwinPower
Turbo Technology is transferred to the front wheels via a standard
8-speed Steptronic transmission, allowing the new BMW 120d to
accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds and to reach a top speed
of 231 km/h. The new BMW 120d is one of the models that already fulfil
the Euro 6d emission standard.

A new four-cylinder petrol engine with a displacement of 2 litres and
BMW TwinPower Turbo Technology complements the drive portfolio for the
new BMW 3 Series. The power unit for the new BMW 318i Sedan (combined
fuel consumption: 5.7 – 5.3 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions:
130 – 120 g/km) and the new BMW 318i Touring (combined fuel
consumption: 6.2 – 5.7 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions:
140 – 130 g/km) delivers a maximum power output of 115 kW/156 hp and a
peak torque of 250 Nm. The standard equipment range for the new BMW 3
Series entry model includes an 8-speed Steptronic transmission.
Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/ is 8.4 seconds for the Sedan and
8.7 seconds for the Touring model. Top speed is 223 km/h
(BMW 318i Sedan) and 220 km/h (BMW 318i Touring) respectively.

BMW 7 Series and BMW 8 Series with extended standard
configuration, additional offer of leather options and interior
trims for the BMW X5, the BMW X6 and the BMW X7.

From March 2020, a broader range of standard features will enhance
comfort in the luxury-class models of the BMW 7 Series and the BMW 8
Series. In future, BMW 7 Series luxury sedans, BMW 8 Series luxury
sports cars as well as the high-performance models
BMW M8 Competition Coupe (combined fuel consumption: 10.6 l/100 km;
combined CO2 emissions: 242 g/km), BMW M8 Competition Convertible
(combined fuel consumption: 10.8 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions:
246 g/km) and BMW M8 Competition Gran Coupe (combined fuel
consumption: 10.7 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 244 g/km) will be
equipped with an automatic soft-close function for the doors.

Thanks to a wider selection of leather options and interior trims,
there are now new possibilities to individualise the models BMW X5,
BMW X6 and BMW X7. As from April, the leather trim perforated Vernasca
in the colour Canberra Beige is additionally available for these three
models. In the future, the BMW X6 can be ordered with the leather trim
perforated Vernasca in the colour Cognac. Likewise available for the
Sports Activity Coupe are the extended BMW Individual leather options

Fuel consumption, CO2 emission figures and power consumption were
measured using the methods required according to Regulation (EC)
2007/715 as amended. The figures are calculated using a vehicle fitted
with basic equipment in Germany, the ranges stated take into account
differences in selected wheel and tyre sizes as well as the optional
equipment. They may change during configuration.

The figures have already been calculated based on the new WLTP test
cycle and adapted to NEDC for comparison purposes. In these vehicles,
different figures than those published here may apply for the
assessment of taxes and other vehicle-related duties which are (also)
based on CO2 emissions.

For further details of the official fuel consumption figures and
official specific CO2 emissions of new cars, please refer to the
"Manual on fuel consumption, CO2 emissions and power consumption
of new cars", available free of charge at all sales outlets, from

Munich. BMW continues to consistently pursue the
improvement of emissions in all combustion engines in summer 2018. As
of July 2018, all petrol and plug-in hybrid models of the brand
available in Germany will be fitted as standard with a petrol engine
particulate filter and thus will already comply with the exhaust
standard Euro 6d-TEMP. BluePerformance Technology including SCR
catalytic converter with AdBlue injection has been a standard feature
of all BMW diesel models since March 2018. This means they all offer
highly efficient, multi-stage exhaust gas treatment consisting of NOx
storage catalytic converter and SCR system (Selective Catalytic
Reduction). Due to the particularly effective reduction of particulate
emissions achieved, these comply with what will then be the most
rigorous exhaust standard, namely Euro 6d-TEMP. In addition, another
39 diesel models will be going on the market with Euro 6d-TEMP rating.

Additional model variants of the BMW X3 and the BMW X4 will be
available from August 2018 onwards. As early as July 2018 there will
be an increase in the number of models in the BMW 1 Series, BMW 3
Series, BMW 4 Series and BMW 5 Series which are fitted as standard
with an 8-speed Steptronic transmission. Another newcomer to the model
range is the BMW 1 Series Edition Metropolitan.

For the BMW 530e iPerformance Sedan (combined fuel consumption: 2.1 –
1.9 l/100 km; combined power consumption: 14.113.1 l/100 km*; combined
CO2 emissions: 49 – 44 g/km), the optional equipment item BMW Wireless
Charging will be available ex works from July 2018. The option BMW
Connected eDrive Services available for the BMW i and BMW iPerformance
automobiles will also include the BMW Digital Charging Service in
future. What is more, an aerodynamics package is available for the BMW
i8 Roadster (combined fuel consumption: 2.0 l/100 km; combined power
consumption 14.5 kWh/100 km; combined CO2 emissions 46 g/km).

BMW X3 and BMW X4: new model variations with in-line
6-cylinder engines.

With the premiere of the BMW X3 M40d (combined fuel consumption: 6.5
– 6.4 l/100 km; combined CO2emissions 172 – 169 g/km*), the number of
engines available to choose from for the Sports Activity Vehicle in
the premium mid-range segment increases to seven. What is more, this
newcomer is now the second BMW M Performance model in the series. In
the BMW X3 M40d, an in-line 6-cylinder diesel engine generates a peak
output of 240 kW/326 hp and a maximum torque of 680 N m already
available at 1 750 rpm thanks to multi-stage turbocharging and common
rail direct injection with piezo injectors, accelerating the car from
zero to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds.

A second in-line 6-cylinder diesel engine will be offered for the
Sports Activity Coupé as of August 2018. The power unit in the new BMW
X4 xDrive30d (combined fuel consumption: 6.0 – 5.8 l/100 km; combined
CO2 emissions 158 – 153 g/km*) generates a peak output of 195 kW/265
hp and a maximum torque of 620 Nm. It takes the car just 5.8 seconds
to accelerate from standing to 100 km/h. All new model variants of the
BMW X3 and the BMW X4 are fitted as standard with an 8-speed
Steptronic sports transmission.

8-speed Steptronic transmission as standard in additional
models.

Fast gearshifts, a high level of shift comfort and excellent
efficiency are the benefits of the 8-speed Steptronic transmission,
now to become a standard feature of numerous additional BMW models as
of July 2018. In the premium compact segment, the BMW 120i 3 door and
the BMW 120 i 5 door (combined fuel consumption: 6.1 – 5.9 l/100 km;
combined CO2 emissions 139 – 134 g/km) will also feature automatic
gear selection as standard in future. Meanwhile the further enhanced
shift dynamics of the 8-speed Steptronic sports transmission can be
experienced as standard in the BMW M140i 3 door and the BMW M140i 5
door (combined fuel consumption: 7.4 – 7.4 l/100 km; combined CO2
emissions 169 – 168 g/km).

In the BMW 3 Series, eight additional models will be fitted with the
8-speed Steptronic transmission as standard from July 2018 onwards.
These are the BMW 320i Gran Turismo (combined fuel consumption: 6.3 –
6.2 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions 143 – 141 g/km) and the BMW 320i
xDrive Sedan (combined fuel consumption: 6.5 – 6.4 l/100 km; combined
CO2 emissions 148 – 146 g/km), the BMW 320i xDrive Touring (combined
fuel consumption: 6.7 – 6.6 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions 154 – 151
g/km) and the BMW 320i xDrive Gran Turismo (combined fuel consumption:
6.8 – 6.7 l/100 km; combined COCO2 emissions 156 – 152 g/km). The
models BMW 330i Sedan (combined fuel consumption: 6.1 – 6.0 l/100 km;
combined CO2 emissions 140 – 137 g/km) and BMW 330i Touring (combined
fuel consumption: 6.3 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions 145 g/km) and
BMW 340i Sedan (combined fuel consumption: 7.4 l/100 km; combined CO2
emissions 168 g/km) and the BMW 340i xDrive Sedan (combined fuel
consumption: 7.7 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions 174 g/km) will also
include an automatic transmission as a standard fitting in the future.

Six model variants of the BMW 4 Series will benefit from the new
standard engine-transmission combination, too: the BMW 420i
Convertible (combined fuel consumption: 6.4 – 6.2 l/100 km; combined
CO2 emissions 146 – 143 g/km), the BMW 420i xDrive Gran Coupé
(combined fuel consumption: 6.6 – 6.5 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions
151 – 148 g/km), the BMW 430i Convertible (combined fuel consumption:
6.5 – 6.3 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions 148 – 144 g/km) and the BMW
430i Gran Coupé (combined fuel consumption: 6.1 – 6.0 l/100 km;
combined CO2 emissions 140 – 137 g/km) and the BMW 440i Coupé
(combined fuel consumption: 7.5 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions 170
g/km) and the BMW 440i xDrive Coupé (combined fuel consumption: 7.7
l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions 174 g/km).

The range of models fitted as standard with the 8-speed Steptronic
transmission in future is rounded off with the BMW 520d Sedan
(combined fuel consumption: 4.6 – 4.5 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions
121 – 117 g/km) and the BMW 520d Touring (combined fuel consumption:
4.9 – 4.7 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions 128 – 123 g/km).

l/100km; combined CO2 emissions: 241 g/100km, provisional values), for
which it is also possible to select the variant Frozen Marina Bay Blue
metallic – likewise a new option.

From July 2018, the optionally available electroplating applications
for selected controls will make for an exclusive sheen in the interior
of the BMW 5 Series Sedan, the BMW 5 Series Touring and the BMW 6
Series Gran Turismo. This high-quality surface refinement is applied
to the steering wheel switches, the start/stop button, the volume
control on the audio system, the air conditioning controls and the
switch panels on the driver and front passenger doors.

BMW 7 Series: BMW Individual composition that can be combined
with other exterior finishes.

The BMW Individual composition provides a highly exclusive ambience
in the interior of the BMW 7 Series Sedan by means of exquisite
materials and a subtly harmonised colour scheme. The option comprising
BMW Individual full Merino fine-grain leather trim, BMW Individual
interior trim finishers, a BMW Individual leather steering wheel and a
BMW Individual roof liner can be combined with additional body
finishes from July 2018 onwards. In future the selection will also
include the variants Alpine White non-metallic, Sapphire Black
metallic, Kashmir Silver metallic, Glacier Silver metallic, Imperial
Blue Brilliant Effect metallic, Sophisto Grey Brilliant Effect
metallic, Mineral White metallic, Jatoba metallic, Magellan Grey
metallic, Arctic Grey Brilliant Effect metallic and Atlas Cedar metallic.

Aerodynamics package for the BMW i8 Roadster.

The plug-in hybrid drive of the BMW i8 Roadster (combined fuel
consumption 2,0 l/100 km; combined electricity consumption 14,5
kWh/100 km; combined CO2 emissions 46 g/km) guarantees a particularly
progressive combination of sporty dynamic performance and efficiency
for open-top driving. The car's supreme driving properties can be
further optimised by means of the new aerodynamics package. This is
made up of a dual-section front splitter and a spoiler lip for the
rear of the two-seater model.

Charging is simpler than fuelling: launch of BMW Wireless
Charging.

The innovative option BMW Wireless Charging offers maximum comfort
when charging the high-voltage battery of a plug-in hybrid model. BMW
is the world's first automobile manufacturer to offer a system of
inductive charging where a cable is no longer required to feed
electric current into the vehicle's battery. From 2018, BMW Wireless
Charging will be among the optional equipment items available for the
BMW 530e iPerformance ex works: it comprises a "car pad" for
the vehicle and an inductive charging station known as a "ground
pad", which can be installed on the floor of a garage, for example.

The contactless transfer of energy is carried out via an
electromagnetic field between the two components and can be initiated
as soon as the vehicle has reached park position over the ground pad.
This makes charging a high-voltage battery even easier than filling a
fuel tank.

New for BMW i and BMW i Performance automobiles: BMW Connected
eDrive Services with BMW Digital Charging Service.

In future, the option BMW Connected eDrive Services will cover all
digital services that help optimise comfort, everyday practicality and
efficiency in vehicles that are electrically powered. This new
optional equipment feature will be available from July 2018 for the
BMW i3 (combined fuel consumption: 0.0 l/100 km; combined power
consumption 13.6 – 13.1 kWh/100 km; combined CO2 emissions 0 g/km) and
the BMW i3s (combined fuel consumption: 0.0 l/100 km; combined power
consumption: l/100 km; combined power consumption 14.3 kWh/100 km;
combined CO2 emissions 0 g/km), the BMW i8 Coupé (combined fuel
consumption: 1.8 l/100 km; combined power consumption 14.0 kWh/100 km;
combined CO2 emissions 42 g/km) and the BMW i8 Roadster as well as for
the BMW 225xe iPerformance (combined fuel consumption: 2.5 – 2.3 l/100
km; combined power consumption 13.7 – 13.4 kWh/100 km; combined CO2
emissions 57 – 52 g/km) and the BMW 530e iPerformance. It includes
Remote Services, which allows the doors to be remotely locked and
unlocked, and also eDrive Services complete with charging station
search, as well as enabling the range and charge status to be
displayed on a smartphone.

What is more, the BMW Digital Charging Service can be used in the
first three years after the car has been newly registered. This
enables intelligent charging with optimised cost efficiency and
preferential use of self-generated solar power.

Munich. The new BMW X4 (fuel consumption combined:
9.0 – 5.4 l/100 km [31.4 – 52.3 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 209
– 142 g/km) demonstrates its strengths in advance of its official
presentation at the 88th Geneva International Motor Show. For this
purpose the new BMW X4 will be undertaking a trip from Munich via
Davos to the location of its world premiere in Geneva.

Flüela Pass Davos: the peak of driving
dynamics.
All the stations along the premiere tour are
designed to emphasise highlights of the new BMW X4. The route first
takes it across Flüela Pass. As it navigates the winding roads of this
Swiss Alpine pass road at 2,383 metres above sea level, the new BMW X4
can expect to encounter snow depths of more than a metre.

In these extreme weather conditions the second generation of the
successful BMW model can make full use of its driving dynamics
qualities. The BMW xDrive all-wheel drive, which is standard in all
models, makes the BMW X4 especially versatile and sporty. The latest
edition of the system is characterised by reduced weight and optimised
internal efficiency. In addition, the precise electronic control of
the intelligent all-wheel drive ensures especially sporty and
brand-typical power distribution. The tightly winding, snow-covered
hairpin bends of the Flüela Pass are the ideal setting for the
rear-wheel-oriented xDrive all-wheel drive. Dynamic cornering turns
piloting the X4 into an intense driving experience in these conditions.

Combined with a centre of gravity lowered even further as compared to
the predecessor as well as a total weight of some 50 kg less, the
car's powerful engines ensure even better handling and thrilling
driving pleasure.

Lake Geneva: premiere for the powerfully expressive
athlete.
The final station of the premiere tour is Lake
Geneva. The shores of Europe's biggest inland water body against the
spectacular backdrop of Mont Blanc are the perfect setting for
highlighting the fascinating design of the new BMW X4. The already
sporty exterior has a significantly more athletic and mature look in
the new model. This is not least due to the increase of approx. 8 cm
in the vehicle's length, the visibly wider track, the clearly defined
athletic shoulder and the gentler curve of the roof line. All this
makes the new BMW X4 a real eye-catcher in front of this stunning
panorama. A few days later, on 8 March, the BMW X4 will be presented
at the Geneva International Motor Show on the opening day.

The new BMW X4 will then replace the previously available model,
which has developed into a huge success for the brand ever since it
was first presented in 2013. Some 200,000 units of this Sports
Activity Coupé were sold in less than five years.

CO2 EMISSIONS & CONSUMPTION.

(fuel consumption combined: 9.0 – 5.4 l/100 km [31.4 – 52.3 mpg imp];

Munich. The three latest additions to the BMW X model
family, the BMW X2 (combined fuel consumption: 6.2-4.5 l/100 km;
combined CO2 emissions: 142–119 g/km)*, the BMW X3 (combined fuel
consumption: 8.4-5.3 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 193–140 g/km)*
and the BMW X4 (combined fuel consumption: 7.3-5.4 l/100 km; combined
CO2 emissions: 173–142 g/km)*, combine a sporty, elegant appearance
with outstanding driving dynamics properties. Thanks to the extensive
range of M Performance Parts from the program of Original BMW
Accessories, each of these product features can be adapted to the
owner's personal taste and given greater emphasis.

Development of M Performance Parts always draws on the vast racing
expertise of BMW M GmbH. All components are perfectly matched – both
with each other and with the specific properties of each model. In
addition to accentuating interior and exterior design, many of the
M Performance Parts also meet functional criteria and enhance
lightweight construction, for example.

Refined looks based on details inspired by motor racing.
M Performance lettering is one particularly effective way of
creating a visual highlight. Designed to ensure an ideal match with
the model in question, the side lettering in Frozen Black underscores
the sporty character of the vehicle, in particular emphasising the
dynamic proportions of the body. In addition to the side lettering,
the appearance of the BMW X3 and BMW X4 can be further refined with
the front lettering in high-gloss black – matching the other front
attachment parts for these two models, which also feature a high-gloss
finish. M Performance front radiator grilles in high-gloss black are
available for the BMW X2. These have the same geometry as the standard
grilles but are much more visually striking, thereby underscoring the
vehicle's sporty flair and dynamic performance.

The M Performance exterior mirror caps in carbon fibre are another
eye-catcher available for all three series. They are crafted
elaborately by hand from carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP). With
several coating layers and finished with a high-gloss polish, the
carbon fibre caps have a depth effect which gives them a compelling appearance.

Sporty, elegant refinement on the inside.
The interior of the BMW X2, BMW X3 and BMW X4 can also be
enhanced for additional sporty flair by means of select details, while
at the same time increasing feel-good comfort on board. The M
Performance floor mats are a potential contributing factor here. They
are made of velour velvet with a leather-look surround and contrasting
decorative seams. Their soft material makes them especially gentle on
shoe heels. The front mats for driver and passenger bear the M
Performance branding.

The M Performance steering wheel ensures the driver of a BMW X2, BMW
X3 or BMW X4 retains a perfect grip on everything. It has distinct,
specially lined grip areas which are covered with Alcantara. This
microfibre fabric similar to suede is exceptionally pleasant to the
touch in all temperatures and provides an optimum hold. The upper and
lower part of the steering wheel are also covered in high-quality
leather, as is the accompanying steering wheel trim panel. A red
motorsports marking in the 12 o'clock position emphasises the car's
dynamic qualities, as does the silver-grey, hand-sewn cross-stitch
seam. Steering wheel trim panels are also optionally available for the
BMW X3 and BMW X4 in carbon fibre/leather, with central clasp in
either open-pore or high-gloss carbon fibre.

Shift paddles at the steering wheel enable the driver to change gear
without taking their hands off the steering wheel, thereby
facilitating vehicle control even when driving in dynamic style. For
the BMW X3 and BMW X4 with this feature on board, the shift paddles
are available in high-gloss carbon fibre. They are covered in an
extremely fine carbon mesh, enhanced with a PUR finish and a
high-gloss polish, and also feature plus and minus symbols in anodised red.

Extensive range of attractive summer complete wheel sets.
Much of a vehicle's design is perceptibly dominated by its
wheel/tyre combination. This is why adaptations in this area have
traditionally been among the most popular customisation measures in
the automotive sector. This also accounts for the wide range available
as part of the BMW M Performance Parts program. The 20-inch summer
complete wheel set Styling 717 M is available for the BMW X2, for
example. The matt black finish of this light alloy wheel,
weight-optimised by means of flowforming technology (rolled rim well)
adds a particularly striking touch of sporty flair. The 19-inch M
Performance light alloy wheel Double Spoke 698 M in Orbit Grey is
available as a summer complete wheel set for the BMW X3 and BMW X4.
The exclusive finish and visible wheel bolts are key contributing
factors to an impressive appearance here. The 21-inch forged wheel Y
Spoke 701 M Bicolor is currently the largest wheel in the program of
Original BMW Accessories for the BMW X3 and BMW X4. It also has a
rolled rim well, and it weighs some two kilograms less than a
similarly designed cast wheel in the same format: this is because of
the special manufacturing process used. The Bicolor look with black as
the background colour and the burnished finish on the visible side
make for a very eye-catching impression, especially due to the
high-quality clear finish.

Light installations for a highly effective appearance.
One discreet customisation option that also adds a definite
touch of exclusivity at the same time are the BMW LED door projectors.
They replace the standard entry light and project a graphic onto the
ground when the door is opened. The selection of motifs include the

All figures relating to performance, consumption and emissions are provisional.

The fuel consumption and CO2 emissions figures shown were determined
according to the European Regulation (EC) 715/2007 in the version
applicable at the time of type approval. The figures refer to a
vehicle with basic configuration in Germany. The range shown considers
the different sizes of the selected wheels/tyres and the selected
items of optional equipment, and may change during the configuration
process. The values for the vehicles marked * are already based on the
new WLTP legislation and have been translated back into
NEDC-equivalent values in order to ensure comparability between the
vehicles. With respect to these vehicles, for vehicle-related taxes or
other duties based (at least inter alia) on CO2 emissions, the CO2
values may differ from the values stated here (depending on national legislation).

Further information on official fuel consumption figures and specific
CO2 emission values of new passenger cars is included in the following
guideline: 'Leitfaden über den Kraftstoffverbrauch, die CO2-Emissionen
und den Stromverbrauch neuer Personenkraftwagen' (Guideline for fuel
consumption, CO2 emissions and electric power consumption of new
passenger cars), which can be obtained free of charge from all
dealerships and at https://www.dat.de/angebote/verlagsprodukte/leitfaden-kraftstoffverbrauch.html.

Munich. A pioneer celebrates an anniversary. The
200,000th BMW X4 has now come off the production line at the BMW plant
in Spartanburg/USA. With its extrovert design, versatile driving
properties and dynamic character, the first ever mid-range Sports
Activity Coupé in the premium segment has built up an impressive fan
community within just a little over four years. The anniversary
vehicle, a BMW X4 xDrive20d (combined fuel consumption:
5.6 – 5.4 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 149 – 142 g/km) in the
paint finish Alpine White metallic, will be delivered to a customer in Asia.

This latest production anniversary also marks the start of the final
sprint for the first-generation BMW X4. The model's production is
scheduled to end in March 2018. The BMW X4 has been built at the
Spartanburg site since 2014. The BMW plant in the US state of South
Carolina is the “Home of BMW x models” for the BMW X models within the
BMW Group's global production network. In addition to the BMW X4, the
models BMW X3, BMW X5, BMW X6 and BMW X7 are produced for the world
market at this plant.

The BMW X4 shares with these models not just the production location
but also a leading role in terms of innovative concepts. With this
model, BMW once again created a new category of vehicle. Since its
launch, other manufacturers have been inspired by this fascinating
concept of a mid-range Sports Activity Coupé for the premium segment.

Due to its enormous popularity, the first BMW X4 contributed
significantly to the continuously increasing market success of the BMW
X models. Combining robust all-round qualities with the sporty
elegance of a BMW coupé, the model succeeded in arousing the
enthusiasm of new target groups for the unique driving pleasure
offered by a BMW X model.

CO2 EMISSIONS & CONSUMPTION.

combined fuel consumption: 5.6 – 5.4 l/100 km; combined

boasts an excellent position in the all-wheel-drive market, a segment
it first entered 30 years ago. Around one in three BMW cars sold
around the world is now equipped with the intelligent BMW xDrive
all-wheel-drive system. BMW’s success in this segment has been driven
not only by the ever-popular BMW X models but also by all-wheel-drive
models based on the other model series, from the BMW 1 Series to the
BMW 7 Series. Across these model series, a large choice of AWD models
is offered in a wide range of engine versions. At the same time, BMW
continues to refine this technology and take it in new directions. By
offering BMW xDrive in combination with a hybrid drive and with a
front-wheel-drive platform, the company has repeatedly demonstrated
its proficiency in the all-wheel-drive field, proficiency that will
secure BMW’s position at the forefront of this sector well into the
future. Today, BMW offers more than 110 models – of either
transmission type – with BMW xDrive in 12 different model series, as
well as the plug-in hybrid BMW i8 sports car and the compact BMW 225xe
with electrified all-wheel drive.

The focus from day one: traction and dynamics.

BMW’s first foray into the all-wheel-drive market came
with the unveiling of the BMW 325i “Allrad” at the Frankfurt Motor
Show (IAA) in 1985. From the outside, the newcomer didn’t immediately
reveal its inner qualities, so its performance when the journalists
took it out on the test track was even more of an eye-opener. This
very first BMW all-wheel-drive system not only improved traction away
from surfaced roads and in adverse weather conditions, but also made
for more dynamic handling through corners. “The new BMW is the new
champion when it comes to handling,” was the verdict of the testers
from German car magazine Auto Zeitung not long after the first unveiling.

Today, the intelligent BMW xDrive all-wheel-drive system takes
typical BMW driving dynamics to new levels. The current generation of
this system is controlled by the Integrated Chassis Management (ICM)
system, which ensures that xDrive always responds appropriately at the
earliest possible moment, based on reliable sensing and monitoring of
the current driving situation. The interventions may be performed
either entirely by BMW xDrive, or by xDrive in combination with
Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) or Dynamic Performance Control (DPC).
The resulting fast and precise control of drive power distribution
ensures typical BMW handling characteristics even under extremely
dynamic cornering.

The all-wheel-drive system is biased towards the typical BMW
rear-wheel-drive characteristics. That is to say, on the
all-wheel-drive models a greater share of the drive power is sent to
the rear wheels, even under normal driving conditions. This maintains
the typical BMW precise steering response, with virtually no torque
steer. For crisp turn-in and high tracking stability, the
latest-generation BMW xDrive system starts increasing the amount of
power sent to the rear wheels as soon as the vehicle enters a corner,
further enhancing the driving pleasure for which BMW is a byword.

BMW all-wheel-drive technology: continuous evolution since 1985.
The full-time all-wheel-drive system featured on the BMW 325i
“Allrad” of 1985 split the drive power in a ratio of 37 to 63 per cent
between the front and rear wheels. In response to wheel speed
differences, visco locks in the transfer case and rear differential
were capable of providing a virtually rigid connection between the
front and rear wheels, in order to improve traction and stability.
This model’s name was soon changed to BMW 325iX, and from 1988 it was
offered in a “touring” version as well (lower-case spelling up to and
including the E46 series).

1991: BMW 525iX.
Three years on, BMW introduced an all-wheel-drive model in the
BMW 5 Series too. For the first time, the power split was now
electronically controlled. The newly developed system featured
multi-plate clutches that allowed the default 36:64 front-to-rear
power split to be varied seamlessly and automatically in line with
driving conditions. Initially a hydraulically controlled multi-plate
clutch was used at the rear axle, but this was later replaced by
electronically controlled selective braking intervention. The system
monitored the driving situation using wheel speed signals from the
Anti-lock Braking System, supplemented by further information about
brake status, engine speed and throttle valve position.

From the outset the all-wheel-drive system of the BMW 525iX was a
class apart. The electronic control system delivered a very fast and
precise response, resulting in safe, neutral handling characteristics
even in difficult driving conditions, such as on wet roads or snow. In
the BMW 5 Series, too, the first all-wheel-drive models were offered
in both Sedan and touring versions.

1999: The Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) opens a new chapter.
In the run-up to the new millennium, a highly innovative vehicle
concept from BMW made its sensational debut. The BMW X5, the first
Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV), impressed customers with driving
dynamics that were unmatched among other all-terrain vehicles of the
time. The outstanding all-wheel-drive system played a big part in
this. A planetary gear system split the drive power in a ratio of
38:62 per cent between the front and rear wheels, while electronic
control systems such as DSC (Dynamic Stability Control), ADB-X
(Automatic Differential Brake) and HDC (Hill Descent Control) ensured
the new BMW X5 was both sporty on the road and equipped to handle
challenging conditions off the beaten track.

In the years following the successful launch of the SAV concept,
there was no let-up in the fast pace of all-wheel-drive development at
BMW. The next year, 2000, a model-specific version of the BMW X5’s
all-wheel drive technology became available for the fourth generation
of the BMW 3 Series.

2003: BMW xDrive makes its debut in the BMW X3 and BMW X5.
Four years on from the debut of the BMW X5 in 1999, BMW kept up
the momentum by launching the SAV concept in a further vehicle
segment. The new BMW X3 was more compact than the BMW X5 and offered
even more agile handling. It set new benchmarks and remained the only
premium model in its class for years to come.

The newly developed BMW xDrive all-wheel-drive system, which was
introduced in the same year in both the BMW X3 and the BMW X5, soon
extended BMW’s lead in the AWD segment. Based on an extremely
fast-acting electronic multi-plate clutch in the transfer case, xDrive
worked in tandem with the Dynamic Stability Control system (DSC) to
continuously adapt the drive power split to the current driving
situation. In addition to wheel speed, for the first time the
electronic control system also took into account Dynamic Stability
Control data, for example about steering angle, accelerator position
and lateral acceleration. This is what makes BMW xDrive the world’s
first, and still only, “intelligent” all-wheel-drive system. Unlike
conventional all-wheel-drive systems, which only react when at least
one wheel is already spinning, xDrive is able to detect a risk of
oversteer or understeer at the very first signs, and proactively
corrects this by redirecting the flow of drive power.

In the years that followed, the BMW xDrive intelligent
all-wheel-drive system was fitted not only on the X models but also on
the xDrive versions of the BMW 3 and 5 Series Sedan and Touring
models. By the time the second generation of the BMW X3 was introduced
in 2010, more than 600,000 units of this series had already been sold
worldwide. A little earlier, sales of the BMW X5 – which entered its
second generation in 2006 – had topped the one million mark.

2008: SAC with Dynamic Performance Control and hybrid
drive.
With the two Sports Activity Vehicles now firmly
established in their respective segments, in 2007 BMW went on to
present the world’s first Sports Activity Coupe. Unveiled at the
Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA), the brand-new BMW X6 elevated the typical
dynamic character of the BMW X models to a new level of intensity. For
the first time, the intelligent all-wheel-drive system was combined
with Dynamic Performance Control (DPC), which varies the drive power
split between the rear wheels when cornering to ensure unrivalled
agility and stability, even under sudden throttle changes or on
overrun. In 2009, the BMW Active Hybrid X6 demonstrated a further
perfect pairing – between BMW xDrive and hybrid propulsion. Meanwhile,
in the same year, BMW M GmbH added two very special models to its
range of high-performance sports cars. With an M-tuned BMW xDrive
system, including Dynamic Performance Control, the BMW X5 M and BMW X6
M boasted performance that was previously unknown in the
all-wheel-drive market.

2009 also saw the arrival of a new X model, the BMW X1. For many
years to come, the BMW X1 was destined to remain the only vehicle of
its kind in the premium compact segment. Its intelligent BMW xDrive
all-wheel-drive system, like that of the new BMW X3 (2010), was also
combinable with Performance Control. This system selectively brakes
the wheel on the inside of a turn while simultaneously increasing
engine power, resulting in quick and precise turn-in to corners and
taking the agile handling of both models to new levels.

BMW xDrive also available for other model series.
The steady advance of the BMW X models has been accompanied by
an increase in the number of xDrive versions offered in the other BMW
model series too. Designed to improve cornering agility and precision,
BMW xDrive provides an enhanced driving experience and an optimal
combination of dynamics and comfort. So it was only a matter of time
before this intelligent drive technology made its debut in the BMW 7
Series as well, in 2009. In spring 2012, the first all-wheel-drive
Coupe and Convertible models were then offered in the sporty BMW 6
Series. BMW xDrive can also be specified on the current BMW 3 and 5
Series and, since 2013, on the Convertible, Coupe and Gran Coupe
models of the new BMW 4 Series.

Driving progress ever forward.
BMW took things forward in the premium mid-sized segment with
the launch of the BMW X4 in 2014. The new Sports Activity Coupe offers
a unique blend of driving enjoyment, sophisticated style and
contemporary practicality. It comes with BMW xDrive as standard and is
available in a wide range of engine versions. In the same year, BMW
also presented the third generation of the BMW X5, the second
generation of the BMW X6, and M Sport versions of both models. BMW
xDrive also made its debut in the new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer. This
was a debut with a difference, being the first time BMW had combined
its intelligent all-wheel-drive system with an all-new
front-wheel-drive format.

With the BMW i8, unveiled in 2014, the BMW Group took a bold new step
in new directions – which also extended to the all-wheel-drive system.
This 2+2-seater sports model is powered by a highly advanced plug-in
hybrid drive system that pairs an internal combustion engine driving
the rear wheels with a high-performance electric motor driving the
front wheels.

Focused on the future: BMW xDrive meets BMW eDrive.
BMW’s latest all-wheel-drive models bring technology advances
that are firmly focused on the future of mobility. The BMW i8 was
followed by the international launch of the first production plug-in
hybrid model from the BMW core brand: the BMW X5 xDrive40e. Thanks to
full-time BMW xDrive all-wheel-drive and eDrive BMW EfficientDynamics
technology, this Sports Activity Vehicle mates thrilling and
effortless sporty performance with outstanding efficiency. Intelligent
hybrid power management synchronises the operation of the internal
combustion engine and the electric motor to maximise efficiency at all
times, while also responding perfectly to the driver’s demands. The
drive from the two power units is transferred to the road via the
full-time BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system.

BMW 7 Series: Integral Active Steering combinable with BMW xDrive.
In September 2015, the sixth generation of the BMW 7 Series
makes its world debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA). This high-end
BMW luxury model pioneers groundbreaking innovations on all fronts,
and will be available with BMW xDrive from its market launch in
October. The new luxury sedan will also be the first model to allow
intelligent all-wheel-drive to be combined with Integral Active
Steering – that is to say with passively steering rear wheels.

Munich. BMW is expanding its line-up of M
Performance Parts from the Original BMW Accessories range in time for
the Essen Motor Show 2014 (29.11–07.12. 2014). The new BMW M
Performance Parts for the BMW X3 and BMW X4, BMW M3, BMW M4 Coupe and
BMW M4 Convertible lend these models an even sharper sporting edge. As
well as attractive design upgrades for the interior and exterior, the
range also includes functional accessories which boost the performance
of classical BMW models, for example, and inject more emotional appeal
into the engine’s soundtrack. The new accessories bring the total
number of BMW M Performance Parts designed to raise sporty driving
pleasure another notch to over 1,200 – from a starter kit all the way
to exhaust systems.

These model-specific BMW M Performance products from the accessories
range, which are also available for other BMW model series, have been
developed using the decades of racing experience and innovative power
of BMW M GmbH. Thanks to the company’s deep reserves of expertise,
customers can rest assured that the retrofit components have been
adapted precisely to the character and qualities of the individual
models. They also meet the uncompromising quality standards of the BMW
Group as far as materials selection, design and quality of workmanship
are concerned. All the products belong to the Original BMW Accessories
range. When retrofitted, they do not in any way affect the warranty
terms for the relevant vehicle.

Sporty new accents for the exterior of the BMW X3 and BMW X4.
The new BMW M Performance Parts shine an even brighter spotlight
on the cars’ sporting ability and dynamic aura. Examples include a
black version of the BMW kidney grille for the BMW X3 and BMW X4, as
well as exterior mirror caps and a rear spoiler (BMW X4 only) in
high-tech carbon. The carbon components have been elaborately
manufactured by hand. Elsewhere, BMW M Performance accent strips in
Black/Silver can be ordered for the BMW X3 and BMW X4 to highlight the
two X models’ dynamic lines to pleasing effect. And the BMW M
Performance light-alloy wheels available for both the BMW X3 and the
BMW X4 add further sporting emphasis to both the exterior design of
the two cars and their driving characteristics. The high-quality
forged wheels stand out with their distinctive design and low weight.
They make an effective contribution to the reduction in the unsprung
mass of the two cars, enhancing agility and steering responses in the
process. The BMW M Performance light-alloy wheels come in 21-inch
format and with mixed tyres. The two models each get their own take on
a double-spoke design, complete with the now familiar BMW M
Performance bi-colour finish in Orbit Grey with polished spoke fronts.

New aerodynamic components for the BMW M3, BMW M4 Coupe and
BMW M4 Convertible.
As well as further enhancing the muscular athleticism of the BMW
M3 and BMW M4, the main benefit of the BMW M Performance aerodynamic
components for these high-performance sports cars can be found in
further improvements to airflow at high speed. Customers can choose
from a selection of items including add-on parts in carbon for the
side sections of the front bumper, a front attachment made from
polyurethane (PUR), a carbon rear diffuser and a carbon rear spoiler.
PUR is also used for the side skirt attachments and a rear spoiler for
the BMW M3. In addition, tri-colour side decals with “M Performance”
lettering are available for the Sedan, Coupe and Convertible.

Even sportier interior featuring new M Performance Parts.
The new BMW M Performance Parts also include a host of
attractive and sporting details for the interior of the BMW X3 and BMW
X4. The LED door sill plates in brushed stainless-steel look with
illuminated BMW M Performance lettering draw attention the moment you
open the front doors. Battery power means they are extremely easy to
retrofit, with no need for laying cables. The BMW M Performance
interior trim strips in carbon or an Alcantara/carbon combination with
M Performance lettering mark out the interior clearly from that of the
standard cars and, like the Steptronic or Steptronic sport
transmission’s carbon gearshift lever with BMW M logo, add a sporty
and exclusive accent to the cockpit. Another highlight in the new
range of accessories for the interior of the BMW X3 and BMW X4 is the
BMW M Performance steering wheel in Alcantara with attractive carbon
trim. It is beautifully grippy, even in extreme driving situations,
and remains equally pleasant to the touch in all temperatures. The BMW
M Performance stainless-steel pedal covers and the driver’s footrest,
meanwhile, provide a visually appealing and functional complement to
the other M Performance Parts for the interior. The new M Performance
key case continues the theme. With its sophisticated Alcantara/carbon
material combination, M Light Blue accents and high-quality blue hex
bolt, it blends in perfectly with the sporty and dynamic design of the
new BMW M Performance Parts. The easy-care BMW M Performance floor
mats, meanwhile, are a perfect fit and set the seal on the sporting
looks of the interior. All four mats come with eye-catching M
Performance lettering.

M Performance steering wheel with Race Display for the BMW M3
and BMW M4.
The BMW M Performance steering wheel with Alcantara covering,
carbon trim and Race Display does its bit to ensure the BMW M3 and BMW
M4 deliver a particularly full-blooded driving experience. The painted
carbon steering wheel trim carries “M Performance” lettering. The
Alcantara covering for the steering wheel rim has contrast stitching
in the three BMW M colours. And the thumb rests feature a pair of
embedded buttons used to activate Efficient Dynamics mode, Sport mode
and Race mode. The driver can use the integrated display at the top of
the steering wheel rim to view gear change signals and
lateral/longitudinal acceleration figures, among other things. Sport
mode gives the driver access to a stopwatch function with displays for
hours, minutes and seconds. Lateral/longitudinal acceleration figures
are also shown. During committed track sessions, Race mode allows lap
times to be displayed and stored in minutes, seconds and hundredths of
seconds. The top speeds and maximum lateral/longitudinal acceleration
figures for the most recent 50 laps completed can also be stored.

Power Kits boost the performance of the BMW X3 and BMW X4.

The BMW M Performance Power Kit developed for the BMW X3 xDrive30d
(fuel consumption combined: 6.1–l/100 km [46.3–47.9 mpg imp]; CO2
emissions combined: 159–156 g/km)* and BMW X4 xDrive30d (fuel
consumption combined: 5.6–5.2 l/100 km [50.4–54.3 mpg imp]; CO2
emissions combined: 146–138 g/km)* summons up a significant increase
in performance. Among its components is a control unit for the engine
electronics which has been tuned specially to the 3.0-litre
six-cylinder in-line diesel engine with BMW TwinPower Turbo
technology. This helps to induce significantly more sporting
performance characteristics with no change in fuel consumption and
emissions. The BMW M Performance Power Kit raises the engine’s maximum
output by 20 kW to 210 kW and peak torque – depending on the gear
engaged – to as much as 600 Newton metres (442 lb-ft). The most
important result of this increase in performance is a noticeable
improvement in sprinting power. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h (62
mph) is up to 0.3 seconds faster, the BMW X3 xDrive30d recording an
impressively fast time of approximately 5.6 seconds (down from 5.9)
and the BMW X4 xDrive30d reaching the same speed from rest in an even
quicker 5.5 seconds (down from 5.8). The boost in power goes
hand-in-hand with sportier accelerator characteristics headlined by
faster responses and an optimised engine and exhaust note. Remarkably,
these two Power Kits match the fuel consumption and emissions values
of the standard models in the ECE driving cycle despite delivering the
extra power.

M Performance silencer systems enhance visual and aural
appeal.
A BMW M Performance valve silencer, whose
operating mode can be adjusted remotely via Bluetooth, is available
exclusively for the BMW X4 xDrive35i. As well as Sport mode –
distinguished by a strikingly emotion-rich soundtrack – drivers can
also select the Track mode conceived for use exclusively on the race
track, which specialises in even more hardcore and performance-focused
sound development. The stainless-steel silencer system also comes with
trapezoidal chrome tailpipe embellishers in the style favoured by
eight-cylinder BMWs. Twin-pipe BMW M Performance embellishers in
chrome are also available for the BMW X4 xDrive20d, BMW X3 sDrive18d
and BMW X3 xDrive20d.

Striking engine soundtrack for the BMW M3 and BMW M4.
The BMW M Performance silencer system developed specially for
the BMW M3 and BMW M4 uses optimised exhaust gas channelling to
generate an emotion-rich engine soundtrack that underlines the
performance characteristics of the biturbo straight-six engine in
stirring fashion. The lightweight flap control exhaust system
comprises a stainless-steel exhaust system and a silencer made
completely from titanium and displaying M Performance lettering when
viewed from the rear. A distinctive stylistic highlight are the classy
tailpipe embellishers, in either titanium or carbon, with M logo. The
use of titanium ensures the BMW M Performance silencer system is
exceptionally heat-resistant, corrosion-resistant and lightweight.
Indeed, it weighs around eight kilograms less than the standard item.
The driver can choose from two settings for the sound characteristics
of the BMW M Performance silencer system, both of which are linked to
an engine performance profile that can be activated at the touch of a
button. In Standard mode, the sound development is already much more
dramatic than that of a regular model, has a defined sporting edge and
is also suitable for everyday use. In SPORT and SPORT+ modes the
development of power is accompanied by a stunningly powerful,
emotionally rich soundtrack, which gives the driver extremely clear
feedback on engine load.

Take a closer look with the BMW M Performance Drive Analyser.
The BMW M Performance Drive Analyser – available for all BMW
models from model year 2011 – allows owners to examine their driving
style with impressive precision. Whether the owner is pursuing lap
times on the race track or simply driving from A to B on the road,
this new tool records driving dynamics data with professional
efficiency. The BMW M Performance Drive Analyser consists of an
On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) stick, which is plugged into the relevant
socket in the car, as well as software in the form of an app for
Android and iOS smartphones and tablets. The connection between the
car and OBD stick is via Bluetooth. The car’s Click & Drive
holder, meanwhile, enables easy attachment of the smartphone to the

<pp:caseid>766069</pp:caseid><pp:summary>The new BMW X4 blends the hallmark features of the successful BMW X family with the sporting elegance of a classical coupe, and introduces the unique Sports Activity Coupe concept to the premium mid-size segment.</pp:summary>

The new BMW X4 (fuel consumption combined: 8.3–5.0* l/100 km
[34.0–54.3 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 193–130* g/km) blends the
hallmark features of the successful BMW X family with the sporting
elegance of a classical coupe, and introduces the unique Sports
Activity Coupe concept to the premium mid-size segment. Its dynamic
pedigree is underlined by a wide range of cutting-edge
high-performance engines, the xDrive all-wheel-drive system and an
exclusive spread of standard equipment features such as variable sport
steering, Performance Control and a sports leather steering wheel with
gearshift paddles.

Extrovert and dynamic appearance.
The new BMW X4 is based on the technical blueprint of the
BMW X3, but displays a sporting character very much its own and takes
dynamics to another new level. That much is clear when you view the
new model head-on. The large air intakes positioned on the outer edges
of the front end and the character lines in the front apron allow the
BMW X4 – with its signature BMW twin headlights and front fog lamps
(both optionally with LED technology) – to maximise its visual
presence on the road. The roofline reaches its highest point above the
driver and then swoops down smoothly to the trailing edge of the
tailgate, mimicking the design language of a classical sporting coupe.
The signature swage line running along the flanks of BMW models is
split into two on the X4. The first section rises dynamically from the
front wheel arches to the rear door handles, while the second part
draws the eye to the muscular sculpting of the rear wings. The rear
end, complete with L-shaped LED lights in exclusive X4 design and
diffuser-look styling, likewise highlights the outstanding dynamic
ability of the new BMW X4 – even before it turns a wheel.

The driver and front passenger sit 20 millimetres lower than in the
BMW X3. In conjunction with the two-seat look of the rear, this
accentuates the coupe character of the new BMW in the classy and
exclusive interior as well. At the same time, the X4 offers generous
levels of space for up to five people and – thanks to the standard
40:20:40 split rear seat backrest – impressive variability.

Unparalleled engine power combined with supreme refinement.
In keeping with the vivacious character of the new BMW X4,
customers can choose from three petrol engines and a trio of diesel
units from the BMW EfficientDynamics engine family, whose output
ranges from 135 kW/184 hp to 230 kW/313 hp. All the engines meet the
EU6 exhaust gas standard. The BMW TwinPower Turbo technology of the
state-of-the-art engines offers a promise of superb performance
married with exceptionally low fuel consumption. For example, the
flagship petrol unit in the BMW X4 xDrive35i (fuel consumption
urban/extra-urban/combined: 10.7/6.9/8.3 l/100 km
[26.4/40.9/34.0 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 193 g/km) develops
an outstanding 225 kW/306 hp and peak torque of 400 Nm (295 lb-ft).
The BMW X4 xDrive35i requires just 5.5 seconds to sprint from 0 to
100 km/h (62 mph). And an equally impressive performer in terms of
power delivery and CO2 efficiency is the BMW X4 xDrive35d (fuel
consumption urban/extra-urban/combined: 6.7/5.5/6.0 l/100 km
[42.2/51.4/47.1 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 157 g/km). Its
3.0-litre six-cylinder in-line engine generates 230 kW/313 hp and peak
torque of 630 Nm (465 lb-ft). The BMW X4 xDrive35d accelerates from 0
to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.2 seconds. The new-generation 2.0-litre
diesel engine in the BMW X4 xDrive20d (fuel consumption
urban/extra-urban/combined: 5.8–5.4*/5.1–4.8*/5.4–5.0* l/100 km
[48.7–52.3/55.4–58.9/52.3–56.5 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined:
141–131* g/km) with eight-speed Steptronic transmission also sets the
benchmark when it comes to fuel economy and CO2 emissions. Its
four-cylinder unit produces 140 kW/190 hp and peak torque of 400 Nm (295 lb-ft).

BMW EfficientDynamics: driving pleasure meets fuel economy.
The unparalleled BMW EfficientDynamics technology package also
minimises the fuel consumption and emissions of the new BMW X4.
Included are features such as the Auto Start Stop function and
coasting function (if an eight-speed automatic gearbox is fitted),
Brake Energy Regeneration and on-demand operation of ancillary units,
ensuring an admirable degree of environmental compatibility to go with
maximum driving pleasure. Also available as an option to add further
efficiency to the mix are fourth-generation reduced-rolling-resistance
tyres, which reduce the CO2 emissions of selected variants of the
BMW X4 by another 7 g/km.

BMW ConnectedDrive: Services & Apps and assistance systems.
The BMW ConnectedDrive features available for the new X4 allow
BMW to restate once again its leadership in the link-up of driver,
vehicle and outside world. Among the highlights in the new BMW X4 are
the full-colour BMW Head-Up Display, the anti-dazzle
High Beam Assistant, and Driving Assistant Plus including
Lane Departure Warning, Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go
function, preventive pedestrian protection and a Collision Warning
system, which applies the brakes with anything up to maximum stopping
power as required. Added to which, the optional ConnectedDrive
Services also allow drivers to sign up to innovative services such as
Real Time Traffic Information (RTTI), the Concierge Service and
Remote Services. Facebook, Twitter, AUPEO! personalised internet radio
and music platforms like Napster and Deezer have also been optimised
for in-car usage and can be accessed easily on board the BMW X4.
