Munich. Bavarian premium carmaker BMW is using an
elaborately orchestrated brand campaign to shine the spotlight on its
wide range of fully electric vehicles, which now comprises the BMW i4,
BMW i5, BMW i7, BMW iX1, BMW iX2, BMW iX3 and BMW iX. The
multi-channel campaign is focusing communications on values that have
forever been associated with the BMW brand – exceptional dynamics,
innovative technologies, unmistakable design and supreme driving comfort.

The global campaign relies primarily on video formats. The
centrepiece of the campaign launch was a 30-second TV commercial,
which has been spun off across the brand’s social media channels –
YouTube and Instagram, in particular – and, with the help of paid
media, in the individual markets. The commercial invites the viewer to
discover the “soul” and character of BMW along a fast-paced journey
through the history of the brand: from victories in motor racing via
the brand’s distinctive design language and expertise, and its
time-honoured talent for innovation, all the way to the transformation
to electric mobility. The joy of driving has been inextricably linked
with BMW since the company was formed – and this commercial brings it
to life through the brand’s all-electric models.

The use of the hit single “Beautiful Things” by US singer Benson
Boone turns up the emotionality of the commercial another notch. The
track has exceeded 1.3 billion streams on Spotify alone and has also
been a trending sound on social media platform TikTok for several months.

The emotionally charged hero film is accompanied by a series of other
assets. For example, five reels have been produced which focus on the
brand’s core competencies – Performance, Heritage, Innovation,
Motorsport and Community. And additional reels telling inspirational
social-media stories on the various fully electric models round off
the multi-channel campaign.

“With this emotional campaign we are celebrating the unique soul of
our brand, which has defined us since day one and which we have also
carried into our fully electric BMW vehicles,” says Bernd Körber,
Senior Vice President BMW Brand and Product Management. “After all,
our customers represent the true essence of BMW, and they experience
pure driving pleasure in all of our models.”

As well as the video content, a selection of just under 40 photo
assets showcase the fully electric models to spectacular effect in
natural surroundings – at different times of day and in different
locations. Atmospheric lighting, which enriches the motifs with warm
colours and mildly exaggerated contrasts, brings a very distinct sense
of approachability to the images. The exclusive features of the
individual models, such as the two-tone paint finish of the BMW i7,
are depicted realistically. Alongside numerous individual images
emphasising the pure joy of electric driving, a handful of pack shots
of the BMW i4, BMW i5, BMW i7, BMW iX1, BMW iX2, BMW iX3 and BMW iX in
their various configurations highlight the rich diversity of vehicles
offered by BMW across the relevant segments.

Munich. With a brace of victories in the “Best Cars”
competition, BMW has backed up its successful end to 2023 with a
similarly fruitful beginning to 2024. The BMW 2 Series Coupé wrapped
up class victory in the compact segment for the third time in
succession, while the BMW X1 led the way in the “compact SUV”
category. The “Best Cars” award – voted on by readers of German
motoring magazine “auto, motor und sport” and in its 48th edition this
year – is one of the most prestigious in the European automotive
industry. Almost 100,000 respondents took part in the survey,
selecting one overall winner and one “imported car” champion from a
field of 455 models across 13 vehicle categories.

The start of 2024 was also marked by class victory for the new BMW 5
Series Sedan in the “Large Car” category of the “Women's Worldwide Car
of the Year” award. 75 female automotive journalists from 52 countries
picked out their favourites from a total of 62 vehicles in five
categories. Intended to showcase the influence of women in the
automotive industry and presented for the 14th time this year, this
prize takes into account factors such as safety, quality, price,
design, ride comfort, everyday usability and environmental impact. The
new BMW 5 Series Sedan won over the jury members with its electrified
drive system line-up (including the fully electric BMW i5), as well as
its spaciousness, advanced technology and now fully vegan interior.

This successful beginning to the year saw BMW building on its run of
success in a large number of awards in 2023. Models from the premium
brand’s current range claimed numerous prizes in both its home market
of Germany and its most important sales regions internationally. The
winners stretched across all the relevant categories, with compact
models, luxury vehicles and high-performance sports cars from BMW M
GmbH all making waves. As well as vehicles powered by combustion
engines, the readers and juries also recognised a strikingly high
number of representatives from BMW’s constantly expanding electric
mobility range.

“We’re very proud that our various BMW vehicles have won awards in so
many national and international competitions. This also shows that we
have attractive models in all segments that excite people,” says
Jochen Goller, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG, Customer,
Brands, Sales. “The response to our models with all-electric drive
systems is particularly pleasing. This ties in with the strong demand
from customers and supports the BMW Group’s commitment to ramping up
electric mobility in all areas.”

Newcomer to the ranks of high-performance models and a fully
electric Sports Activity Vehicle both win a “Golden Steering Wheel”.

The “Golden Steering Wheel” presented by German publications “Auto
Bild” and “Bild am Sonntag” is one of the most prestigious
distinctions in the European car industry. BMW took two of these
coveted trophies back to Munich in 2023. The BMW M3 Competition
Touring with M xDrive (fuel consumption, combined: 10.4 –
10.1 l/100 km [27.2 – 28.0 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions,
combined: 235 – 229 g/km in the WLTP cycle) ranked first in the
“sports cars” category and the fully electric BMW iX1 topped the
“compact class”.

Both models added a string of other international awards to their
collections over the course of 2023. For example, the first ever
BMW M3 Touring – which combines the dynamic prowess of a
high-performance car with impressive levels of practicality – was
elected sports car of the year in the category for vehicles costing up
to 120,000 euros by readers of “Auto Bild Sportscars” magazine. And
acclaimed British TV programme “Top Gear” honoured the BMW M GmbH
newcomer with the title “All The Car You'll Ever Need” in its “Car of
the Year” awards.

The BMW iX1 collected a trio of awards in China, including
“All-Electric Premium SUV of the Year”. It also won the French
“Automobile Award 2023” in the “Green Tech” category and the “autonis
Award” bestowed by readers of “auto, motor und sport” to the year’s
most attractive new design.

Fully electric BMW i5 enjoys immediate success around the world.

The new BMW 5 Series Sedan and BMW i5 also claimed an “autonis”
prize. Now also available with a fully electric drive system for the
first time, the new edition of the world’s most successful business
sedan was also named “Car of the Year” by Portuguese magazine
“Frontline”. The BMW i5 was also presented with equivalent awards in
Norway and Denmark, both particularly important markets for electric
vehicles. Norwegian daily “Dagbladet” teamed up with online portals
“DinSide” and “Elbi24” to celebrate the BMW i5. While in Denmark, the
i5 fought off competition from six other models to gain the most votes
for “Car of the Year” in a final round made up exclusively of fully
electric models. The jury of 20 Danish motoring journalists chose the
BMW i5 as their winner by a large margin.

Chinese publication “Auto World” crowned the BMW i5 as “Most
Anticipated Premium Executive Sedan of the Year”, and the fully
electric business sedan also collected three awards in Great Britain:
“The Car Expert” put the BMW i5 in top spot in its “Best Large Car
Award”, it was named “Premium Car of the Year” in the “2024
Electrifying.com Awards” and the “Comfortable Cruiser” topped its
class in Carwow’s “Car of the Year Awards 2024”.

The awards underscore the ability of the new BMW i5 Sedan to win
people over with numerous different qualities: from character-rich
design, a unique balance between sportiness and comfort, innovative
equipment features and progressive digital services to a drive system
whose power is matched by its capability over long distances. And it
also uses latest-generation BMW eDrive technology to transfer the
brand’s signature dynamic ability to the road with zero local
emissions. In addition, adaptive recuperation and an intelligent
combination of heat pump technology for heating and cooling the
interior, drive system and high-voltage battery help to give the BMW
i5 eDrive40 Sedan (electric power consumption, combined:
18.9 – 15.9 kWh/ 100 km in the WLTP cycle) a range of 498 –
582 kilometres (309 – 362 miles) in the WLTP cycle.

BMW’s electric mobility offensive is recognised with awards.

The BMW brand’s fully electric model line-up as a whole enjoyed a
successful year worldwide in 2023. As well as the BMW iX1 and BMW i5,
this was particularly true of the BMW i7 and BMW i4. In Great Britain
alone, these two models were both among the winners in seven awards.
Both won the “Auto Express New Car Award” in their respective vehicle
classes. The BMW i4 also claimed the “Pocket-lint Award” and “Business
Car Award”, and the BMW i7 celebrated success in both the “What Car?
Electric Car Awards” and the “What Car? Car of the Year Awards”. The
fully electric luxury sedan racked up five prizes in China, too,
including the “Car of the Year” distinction from leading online
magazine “sohu.com”.

There was also much to celebrate in France and the USA, where the BMW
i7 was given the “Best Overall and Best Value” rating from “Money”
magazine and praised by “wards auto” magazine for its standout luxury
ambience and digital user experience with BMW Theatre Screen in the
rear compartment. Renowned US magazine “car and driver” named both the
BMW i4 M50 (electric power consumption, combined: 22.5 – 18.0 kWh/
100 km in the WLTP cycle) and BMW i4 eDrive40 M50 (electric power
consumption, combined: 19.1 – 16.1 kWh/ 100 km in the WLTP cycle)
among the “Best 10” of 2023.

Top marks and distinctions for the BMW 3 Series and BMW 4
Series ranges, the BMW M2 and the BMW X3.

BMW set the seal on a successful year in Germany with a two-pronged
triumph. The BMW 3 Series and BMW X3 closed out 2023 with class
victory in the coveted “Auto Trophy”. The BMW 3 Series Sedan and BMW 3
Series Touring, for example, took clear victories in the hotly
contested midsize segment of the readers’ survey conducted by German
title “Auto Zeitung”, racking up 19.0 per cent of the vote. This was
the seventh class win in a row for the 3 Series. Meanwhile, the rugged
aura, interior spaciousness and commitment to electrification of the
BMW X3 helped it account for 15.3 per cent of the votes cast and
therefore the highest points total in the high-volume vehicle segment
of “SUVs costing 30,000 – 60,000 euros”.

The BMW 3 Series was a particularly prolific award-winner in Great
Britain. In the “Business Car Awards”, the 3 Series won the “Best
Premium Car” prize, and it also gained entry to the “Hall of Fame” of
“Fleet News” magazine as the “Most Reliable Company Car”. The BMW 3
Series won twice in the “What Car? Used Car Awards”, topping both the
“Used Executive Car” category and overall “Used Car of the Year”. And
then there was the “Best Used Hybrid Executive Car” distinction for
the BMW 330e Sedan (fuel consumption, combined: 1.9 – 1.4 l/100 km
[148.7 – 201.8 mpg imp]; electric power consumption, combined 20.1 –
18.1 kWh/100 km; CO2 emissions, combined: 43 – 32 g/km in
the WLTP cycle). The plug-in hybrid model also tasted success in the
USA, where “Money” magazine described it as “Best for Handling”.

Adding to the wave of success enjoyed by the BMW 3 Series, the BMW 4
Series – with its standout sporting appeal – also enriched the brand’s
glittering international reputation in the premium midsize segment.
The best example of this came in the BMW 4 Series Coupé and BMW 4
Series Convertible’s showing in the “What Car? Car of the Year Awards”
in Great Britain. The closed-roof two-door won the “Coupe of the Year”
for the third year in succession in 2023. And this year its open-top
sister model also won the “Convertible of the Year” award.

Two other British awards were claimed by the BMW M2. It was voted
“Best Performance Car” in “The Car Expert Awards”, and the compact
high-performance sports car also took the title of “Performance Car of
the Year” in the “Auto Express New Car Awards”.

Munich. The new features set to enhance the BMW model
line-up from autumn 2023 centre on the latest advances in terms of
digitalisation. The new BMW X1 and BMW 2 Series Active Tourer will
both be equipped with the upgraded BMW iDrive featuring QuickSelect
and BMW Operating System 9 from November 2023. The BMW Digital Premium
offering, with its highly customisable selection of online-based
services, is also being introduced in both model series at the same
time. Plus, extra digital services will be made available for a large
number of current models via Remote Software Upgrade. Meanwhile, an
extended range of functions will also add to the appeal of the My BMW App.

When it comes to automated driving systems, the highlight is without
doubt the new Highway Assistant, which is also due to become available
for models in the BMW 7 Series range from March 2024 following its
premiere in the new 5 Series Sedan. Autumn 2023 will also bring
additions to the choice of exterior colours and light-alloy wheels for
selected models.

More intuitive and easier to use than ever: new BMW iDrive
with QuickSelect.

From November 2023, the upgraded BMW iDrive with QuickSelect will be
fitted as standard in all model variants of the new BMW X1, the
all-electric BMW iX1 and the new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer, enabling
numerous vehicle functions to be operated even more intuitively and
easily. The latest incarnation of the display and control/operation
system is based on BMW Operating System 9 and is packaged together
with the BMW Curved Display and BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant.

The new BMW iDrive features a redesigned home screen and the
QuickSelect rapid-access tech, bringing an improved menu structure
that takes its cue from consumer electronics devices. The new home
screen displays the navigation system’s map view or other individually
configurable graphics in the control display at all times. On the same
level, function icons appear in a vertical arrangement on the driver’s
side of the display. Drivers can switch between icons with a vertical
swipe of the finger. The QuickSelect feature allows the function
selected in this way to be activated directly without having to enter
a submenu.

BMW Operating System 9 was developed in-house by the BMW Group and is
based on an Android Open Source Project (AOSP) software stack for the
first time. It provides the basis for a broader offering of digital
content that serves information and entertainment, shorter function
update cycles and improved accessibility to a host of specific online services.

New BMW Digital Premium offering: customised selection of
gaming, video & music streaming and other online services.

The new BMW Digital Premium offering will be brought out in Germany
in November 2023 alongside the introduction of BMW Operating System 9.
It will be available as an option for BMW X1, BMW iX1 and BMW 2 Series
Active Tourer models and can be ordered from the BMW ConnectedDrive
Store, which has now been expanded with the addition of further
third-party apps. This means customers can enjoy in-car use of all the
apps available in their country, e.g. for video and music streaming,
news or gaming, as part of a package. In addition to this, BMW Digital
Premium also includes enhanced navigation functions along with added
customisation options thanks to extra My Modes, for instance.

As with all other ConnectedDrive Upgrades, BMW Digital Premium can be
obtained from the ConnectedDrive Store either on the website, in the
My BMW App or directly in the car. And, from November 2023, it will be
even easier for customers to add ConnectedDrive Upgrades, as it will
then be possible to not just select them directly from their vehicle,
but to pay for them at the same time. In other words, instead of being
redirected to the app or internet to complete their order, customers
will be able to carry out the entire process, including payment, from
the comfort of their car.

This new offering is designed to allow customers to put together a
customised selection of digital services from the growing variety on
offer – one that is perfectly suited to their personal requirements.
BMW Digital Premium is available in Germany, for example, for €9.98 a
month or from mid-2024 (provisionally) for an annual fee of €99 (both
including VAT). The package also covers data usage for all digital
services and the apps available from the BMW ConnectedDrive Store,
including music and video streaming. Customers can take advantage of a
free three-month trial period that will allow them to sample all the
BMW Digital Premium services and content.

A new form of in-car gaming unique in the automotive sector is one of
the highlights of BMW Digital Premium. BMW is presenting a wide
selection of casual games that use a smartphone as the controller in
collaboration with the AirConsole gaming platform. The games can be
played in either solo or multiplayer mode when the vehicle is
stationary as a way of passing the time while e.g. waiting for the
high-voltage battery in the BMW iX1 or the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer
plug-in hybrid models to recharge. About ten titles will initially be
available to play, including racing, sport, quiz and skill games, and
the range will continue to grow.

Besides audio streaming, BMW Digital Premium also lets the occupants
enjoy a wide variety of video streaming services (powered by Xperi
TiVo) on the control display while the car is stationary. This offers
customers access to an ever-growing selection of aggregated video
content, such as news and live or on-demand streaming of movies and
series, for instance, along with country-specific content. Available
with BMW Digital Premium in the USA, UK, South Korea, France, Italy,
Germany and Spain, the Video App will feature, among other things, the
Pluto, Bloomberg Television, Deutsche Welle, Al Jazeera and TED
portals. In Germany, the package will additionally include the
tagesschau news service app as well as the popular streaming service
JOYN. Country-specific content will also be offered from the outset in
Italy and the USA. The portfolio of video streaming platforms will
keep evolving and will be gradually rolled out to other countries too.

Enhanced navigation functions, additional My Modes.

One of the key benefits of BMW Digital Premium is the enhanced
functionality of the cloud-based navigation system BMW Maps. For
example, real-time traffic information (RTTI) with colour coding shows
how freely traffic is flowing across the entire map area, even if
route guidance is not activated. Other functions include 3D
visualisation of buildings and surrounding elements in the map view
and extended information on parking facilities. The driver is also
proactively notified of the current traffic situation and estimated
time of arrival when setting out to destinations they drive to
regularly. If necessary, the system will even propose an alternative
route. Turn-off instructions and lane recommendations are shown in
realistic form in both the information display and the optional BMW
Head-Up Display.

In Germany and other European countries, BMW Digital Premium offers
the additional benefit of allowing drivers to pay parking fees
directly from their vehicle in parking zones that support this payment
method. And drivers in Germany also have the option of settling fuel
bills digitally from their car after refuelling at participating
filling stations. In both cases, payment is made using a credit card
that is first registered with the partner company Parkopedia via the
My BMW App.

In addition, BMW Digital Premium adds Expressive Mode, Relax Mode and
Digital Art Mode to the choice of My Modes, opening up still greater
scope for customising the driving experience. And it also brings new
variants for both the Welcome Light sequence and the graphics
visualising the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant.

Current Remote Software Upgrades for enhanced driving pleasure.

The Remote Software Upgrades bring existing digital functions right
up to date. At the same time, new features and improvements to quality
can also be imported into the car over the air. The latest in-car
gaming and video-streaming services for BMW models will be made
available in this way for the majority of vehicles with BMW Operating
System 8.5 in autumn 2023.

Customers also receive notification of the Remote Software Upgrades
in the My BMW App. Another option is for upgrades to be downloaded via
the My BMW App and transferred to the vehicle before initiating the
installation process there.

Extra functions for the My BMW App.

The My BMW App for smartphones provides customers with a direct link
to their car and, depending on the vehicle configuration and country,
offers them the benefit of numerous functions designed to make
day-to-day mobility even more straightforward. This includes
information transferred to the user’s smartphone on their vehicle’s
status, servicing requirements, charging status and range, as well as
remote access to functions for vehicle locating, locking and unlocking
the doors, climate control and monitoring the car’s immediate
vicinity. Charging-optimised routes can also be planned via the My BMW
App and destination addresses sent from a smartphone to the vehicle’s
navigation system. From autumn 2023, it will also be possible to enter
mid-journey stops as part of the process.

And from March 2024, customers with compatible Android smartphones
will also be able to use the My BMW App to operate the Remote Control
Parking and Manoeuvre Assistant functions available with the optional
Parking Assistant Professional and BMW Digital Key Plus. The My BMW
App will also indicate the status of the alarm system on suitably
equipped vehicles and show how it can be fully or partially activated.

New Highway Assistant also coming soon for the BMW 7 Series.

BMW has become the first carmaker to gain approval from Germany’s
Federal Motor Transport Authority for semi-automated driving at speeds
up to 130 km/h (81 mph). As a result, the BMW Highway Assistant
already available in the USA and Canada is now set to become an
extremely innovative component of the optional Driving Assistant
Professional package in Germany too. The new function lets the driver
take their hands off the steering wheel and put them in a comfortable
position while driving. First launched in the new BMW 5 Series Sedan,
it will also become available to use in the BMW 7 Series luxury sedan
from spring 2024.

The BMW Highway Assistant can operate on multi-lane roads with
structurally separated carriageways, with the function’s availability
indicated to the driver in the information display. On suitably
designated stretches of road, the driver is able to take their hands
off the steering wheel for longer periods and position them
comfortably, provided they continue to pay attention to what is
happening on the road and are able to take over the steering again at
any time. The Active Lane Change Assistant with eye confirmation
included as part of the new BMW Highway Assistant adds another layer
to the automated driving experience. As soon as the traffic situation
permits, it is capable of performing the necessary steering movements
for an overtaking manoeuvre, for example, and adjusting the vehicle’s
speed as required. Plus, for the first time, the driver is able to
initiate a lane change suggested by this system by simply looking in
the exterior mirror to confirm it.

Additional exterior colour for the new BMW 5 Series Sedan, new
21-inch light-alloy wheels for the 7 Series.

A new shade is already being added to the selection of exterior
colours for the new BMW 5 Series Sedan, just a short time after its
launch. The Fire Red metallic paint finish will be made available for
the BMW i5 M60 xDrive Sedan (electric power consumption combined:
20.6 – 18.2 kWh/100 km in the WLTP cycle) from November 2023, as well
as for all other model variants of the new business sedan specified
with the M Sport package.

A further highly exclusive design of light-alloy wheel will be added
to the range of optional extras for the BMW 7 Series from November
2023. At the same time, 21-inch BMW Individual light-alloy wheels in
multi-spoke design will also be available for all model variants of
the luxury sedan. They have a bi-colour finish and are fitted with
mixed-size tyres.

All of the stated model variants, equipment features, technical data
and fuel/electric power consumption and emissions figures relate to
the offering in the German market.

CO2 EMISSIONS & CONSUMPTION.

The second fully electric model variant of the compact Sports Activity Vehicle features the new BMW iDrive with "QuickSelect".</pp:summary>

Munich. BMW is consistently continuing its model
offensive in the field of e-mobility and is presenting another
all-electric variant of the new Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) in the
premium compact segment. The BMW iX1 eDrive20 (combined power
consumption: 17.2 – 15.4 kWh/100 km according to WLTP; CO2
emissions: 0 g/km, provisional values) enables a particularly
attractive and at the same time economical entry into the world of
premium electric mobility. The second all-electric model variant of
the compact SAV is powered by an electric motor with a maximum output
of 150 kW/204 hp (with temporary boost) and has a range of 430 to 475
kilometres (provisional values according to WLTP).

By expanding its range in the premium compact segment, the BMW Group
is opening up locally emission-free driving pleasure to broad target
groups and thus providing additional impetus for the ramp-up of
e-mobility. The new BMW iX1 eDrive20 will be available from the start
of production in November 2023 at a recommended retail price of 47,900
euros (incl. VAT). Like the BMW iX1 xDrive30 (combined power
consumption: 18.1 – 16.8 kWh/100 km according to WLTP; CO2
emissions: 0 g/km) it is manufactured at the BMW Group plant in Regensburg.

Highly efficient electric drive, state-of-the-art charging
technology, excellent range.

As in all of the brand's current electric vehicles, the new BMW iX1
eDrive20 also uses the current fifth generation BMW eDrive technology.
A highly integrated drive unit on the front axle of the new
entry-level model generates an instantaneously available maximum
torque of 250 Nm in addition to the maximum output of 150 kW/204 hp.
The compact SAV accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 8.6 seconds. Its
top speed is electronically limited to 170 km/h.

The high-voltage battery, which is housed in the vehicle floor to
save space, has a usable energy content of 64.78 kWh. Its high energy
density, together with the efficiency of the e-motor, contributes to
the the car’s favourable power consumption and delivers an excellent
range compared to the competition. The Combined Charging Unit of the
new BMW iX1 eDrive20 enables AC charging with up to 11 kW as standard.
This allows the high-voltage battery to be charged from zero to 100
percent of its capacity within 6.5 hours. Three-phase AC charging with
an output of up to 22 kW is optionally available. This reduces
charging time to 3:45 hours. The battery can be charged using direct
current with a power of up to 130 kW. The battery's state of charge
can be increased from 10 to 80 percent within 29 minutes at a fast
charging station.

The short charging times result from a particularly efficient
charging software among other things. The charging power can be very
specifically controlled while energy is being fed in. In addition,
anticipatory thermal management ensures that the temperature of the
high-voltage battery is optimally controlled in good time before a
stopover at a fast-charging station. When the navigation system is
active, the battery is automatically pre-conditioned before a planned
charging stop. Pre-conditioning the battery can be manually activated
and deactivated by the customer at any time.

Advanced operation thanks to new BMW iDrive with "QuickSelect".

The new BMW iX1 eDrive20 offers a comprehensive range of standard
equipment, including the BMW Maps navigation system, 2-zone automatic
air conditioning, numerous modern driver assistance systems, the
Parking Assistant including Reversing Assist Camera and numerous
innovative digital services. The new BMW iDrive with
"QuickSelect" and the new BMW Operating System 9 are also
standard equipment. It enables a wider range of digital content for
information and entertainment, faster update cycles for over-the-air
functions as well as optimised access to many specific online services
such as 3rd party apps, extended navigation and parking services and
additional possibilities for personalisation, for example through
further My Modes. In this way, the BMW Operating System 9 also creates
the conditions for the customer to customise the system to a high
degree with additional digital services, which are available with the
new BMW Digital Premium offer.

The BMW Curved Display is the heart of the display and control
system. It consists of a 10.25-inch Information Display and a Control
Display with a screen diagonal of 10.7 inches under a common glass
surface curved towards the driver. The latest BMW iDrive generation
features a redesigned start screen with "QuickSelect".
This means that the system has received an improved menu
structure, oriented towards devices from the consumer electronics
sector. "QuickSelect” enables functions to be accessed directly
without having to switch to submenus. This means that the new BMW
iDrive is even more consistently geared towards intuitive touch
operation and control via natural language.

CO2 EMISSIONS & CONSUMPTION.

Munich. New model variants and innovations in the
areas of electrification and digitalisation are set to further
increase the appeal and diversity of the BMW product range from summer
2023. At the pinnacle of the model portfolio, the arrival of a third
variant of the all-electric BMW i7 expands the brand’s offering in the
luxury segment. At the same time, the Multi-Contract Plug & Charge
and MAX RANGE functions will now be available for all BMW i7 and
BMW iX model variants, making electric mobility even more convenient.
And from August 2023, customers will have the choice of a second,
extremely powerful six-cylinder in-line diesel engine for the new
BMW X5 and BMW X6.

The highlight as far as digitalisation is concerned is the
introduction of the upgraded BMW iDrive featuring QuickSelect and BMW
Operating System 8.5 for a large number of current models. The
capabilities of the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant will also be
enhanced once again for these models in summer 2023. The new exterior
colours and upholstery variants for several of the current models will
offer additional scope for customisation. Meanwhile, the M Sport
package Pro will be added to the choice of optional extras for the BMW
X1 and BMW iX1.

BMW i7 eDrive50: an extra boost for electric mobility in the
luxury segment.

It has taken just a few months for the all-electric BMW i7 to
establish itself as the epitome of progressive drive technology in the
luxury segment worldwide. From July 2023, the new BMW i7 eDrive50
(electric power consumption combined: 20.3 – 19.1 kWh/100 km in the
WLTP cycle) will offer customers another way to enjoy supreme
long-distance comfort combined with trailblazing innovations and
emission-free driving pleasure. The third model variant in the BMW i7
line-up comes with the latest BMW eDrive technology in the form of a
highly integrated electric drive unit delivering maximum output of
335 kW/455 hp and peak torque of 650 Nm (479 lb-ft).

This enables the new BMW i7 eDrive50 to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h
(62 mph) in 5.5 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 205
km/h (127 mph). Thanks to its highly efficient electric motor and the
outstanding energy density of its high-voltage battery, the new
BMW i7 eDrive50 achieves a WLTP-calculated range of 575 –
611 kilometres (357 – 380 miles).

Multi-Contract Plug & Charge and MAX RANGE: new functions
for making electric mobility even more convenient.

To coincide with the ongoing expansion of the all-electric model
line-up, new functions are being made available for all BMW i7 and BMW
iX variants in summer 2023 that will make enjoying locally
emission-free driving pleasure even easier and more convenient. The
Multi-Contract Plug & Charge function will be added to the BMW
Charging portfolio, enabling automatic vehicle authentication at
public charging points. The exchange of data between vehicle and
charging point does away with the need for a charging card or app. As
the amount of electricity fed into the high-voltage battery is also
billed automatically, Plug & Charge makes recharging even more
straightforward than refuelling conventionally powered vehicles. The
BMW Group is the first carmaker in the world to incorporate
multi-contract functionality into this new feature. Customers are able
to store their individual vehicle electricity contracts from multiple
suppliers in digital form in their car, allowing them to use the
charging points of these operators with the greatest of ease. The new
Multi-Contract Plug & Charge function can be made available via
Remote Software Upgrade for all BMW i7 models manufactured since July
2022 and all BMW iX models built since March 2023.

The MAX RANGE function for the electric drive system in the BMW i7
and BMW iX is also new and gives drivers greater flexibility when
looking for a public charging station. It is operational in the My
Mode Efficient and can be used to increase range by up to 25 per cent
by both limiting drive power and top speed and scaling back comfort
functions. The MAX RANGE function was mainly devised for situations
where drivers are unable to recharge mid-journey as originally planned
because, for example, the charging station they were heading for is
out of service. Activating the MAX RANGE function extends the range by
a comfortable margin for the journey to an alternative charging point
for the high-voltage battery. This is achieved by, among other things,
limiting the vehicle’s top speed to 90 km/h (56 mph) at the same time
as disabling features such as the climate control, seat heating and
steering wheel heating. The new MAX RANGE function can be made
available via Remote Software Upgrade for all BMW i7 models
manufactured since July 2022 and all BMW iX models built since March 2023.

The high-voltage battery in the BMW iX can now also be charged more
efficiently thanks to the same upgraded charging software already used
in the BMW i7. Here, careful control of the charging rate results in
shorter charging times. The new charging software can also be imported
into all BMW iX models manufactured since March 2023 via Remote
Software Upgrade.

In addition to this, the various digital services offered for
charging the high-voltage battery will be enhanced for all electrified
BMW models in summer 2023. When searching for charging points in the
navigation system, for instance, the entries for several stations
within a single charging park will now be combined. In the future, the
charging history will also show the total costs for a month and allow
charging operations to be filtered by location.

The BMW Maps navigation system will also offer improved functions for
calculating a charging-optimised route in the all-electric BMW i7, BMW
iX, BMW i4 and BMW iX1 models. The driver’s preferred minimum charge
level for when the vehicle reaches mid-journey stops and the final
destination can now be adjusted in increments of five per cent and
incorporated into the route planning. In the future, the system will
also be able to give preference to charging stations operated by
selected providers and exclude others from the route planning at the
customer’s request. In addition, the user is given even more detailed
information on their selected charging stations, including
availability at that moment in time, the connector types supported and
payment options, plus the presence of sanitary facilities, food
outlets or playgrounds in their vicinity. The new charging-optimised
route planning functions can also be retrofitted via Remote Software Upgrade.

Highly efficient and big on torque: the new six-cylinder
in-line diesel engine with 48V mild hybrid technology for the BMW X5
and BMW X6.

A second six-cylinder in-line diesel engine will be added to the
line-up of drive systems for the BMW X5 and BMW X6 in August 2023. The
unit in the new BMW X5 xDrive40d (fuel consumption, combined:
8.4 – 7.3 litres/100 km [33.6 – 38.7 mpg imp]; CO2
emissions, combined: 221 – 190 g/km in the WLTP cycle) and new
BMW X6 xDrive40d (fuel consumption, combined: 8.2 – 7.3 litres/100 km
[34.5 – 38.7 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions, combined:
214 – 191 g/km in the WLTP cycle) is the most powerful diesel variant
in the new modular generation of Efficient Dynamics engines.

New steel pistons enable a higher combustion pressure, and the
effectiveness of the oil separation process has also been enhanced.
The BMW TwinPower Turbo technology comprises a two-stage turbocharging
system and a common-rail direct injection system with new solenoid
valve injectors. These send the fuel into the combustion chambers with
up to 12 injections per power stroke and maximum pressure of 2,500
bar. 48V mild hybrid technology in the form of a crankshaft-driven
starter generator integrated into the eight-speed Steptronic Sport
transmission gives the 3.0-litre engine even sharper power delivery
and increases its efficiency.

The drive system generates maximum output of 259 kW/352 hp and peak
torque of 720 Nm (531 lb-ft). The impressive pulling power of the new
six-cylinder in-line diesel engine, the eight-speed Steptronic Sport
transmission and the intelligent all-wheel-drive system join forces to
produce potent sprinting ability. The new BMW X5 xDrive40d and new
BMW X6 xDrive40d both accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.5 seconds.

BMW iDrive with QuickSelect for further BMW models.

The upgraded BMW iDrive with QuickSelect is being rolled out with BMW
Operating System 8.5 across additional models*. The latest generation
of BMW iDrive brings a newly designed home screen and QuickSelect
functionality to make selecting and operating numerous functions and
digital services even more intuitive and comfortable. This also brings
an improved menu structure that takes its cues from consumer
electronics devices plus a range of new digital services and apps.

*Ex factory: BMW 7 Series, BMW iX, BMW i4 from production 07/23;
BMW X5, BMW X6, BMW X7. BMW XM, BMW X5 M, BMW X6 M from production

By showing the right information in the right place, the new BMW
iDrive helps to deliver a focused, assured driving experience. BMW
iDrive with QuickSelect also teams up with the BMW Curved Display and
BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, and so focuses squarely on
operation using the touchscreen and natural language.

BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant with additional skills.

In all BMW models that are equipped with BMW Operating System 8.5 or
can be upgraded with the system*, the BMW Intelligent Personal
Assistant will gain additional skills from summer 2023. Depending on
the vehicle specification and the driving situation, the digital
companion will be able to suggest deactivating the speed limiting
function, switching to Sport mode or activating the Assisted Driving
Modes. Naturally formulated spoken instructions can also be used to
adjust the seat position. In fully electric models with the relevant
specification, the MAX RANGE function can be activated and the BMW
IconicSounds Electric controlled with just a single spoken command.

Added to which, the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant will now be
able to proactively explain previously unused functions to the driver,
including storing favourite radio stations and using spoken commands
to adjust the air conditioning or the brightness of the BMW Curved
Display. The graphic depicting the digital companion during exchanges
with the car’s occupants now gains ten additional transformation symbols.

M Sport package Pro now also available for the new BMW X1 and
new BMW iX1.

From July 2023, the range of optional equipment available for the new
BMW X1 and new BMW iX1 will now include a model-specific M Sport
package Pro. This option will be offered as an extension of the M
Sport package and helps to shine an even brighter spotlight on the
dynamic character of the compact Sports Activity Vehicle.

This new option includes extended M High-gloss Shadowline trim, the
M rear spoiler, the M Sport braking system with red or – if desired –
dark blue callipers, plus M seat belts. Specifying the optional
Adaptive LED Headlights also brings M lights Shadowline.

New for the BMW X1, BMW iX1 and BMW 2 Series Active Tourer:
seat surfaces in Veganza perforated.

New upholstery variants available from July 2023 will underscore the
premium character inside the new BMW X1, new BMW iX1 and new BMW 2
Series Active Tourer. Seat surfaces in Veganza perforated trim can be
ordered as an option for these models.

This vegan surface material with leather-like properties can be
specified in Black, Mocha or Oyster. The M Alcantara/Veganza
combination in Black with blue contrast stitching is also available
for cars with the M Sport package.

New exterior colours for the BMW 3 Series Sedan, BMW 2 Series
Coupé and BMW M2.

The introduction of new exterior colours for current BMW models gives
customers additional scope for individualising the exterior of their
car. The BMW Individual paint finishes Frozen Pure Grey metallic and
Frozen Portimao Blue metallic will be available for the BMW 3
Series Sedan, BMW 2 Series Coupé and high-performance BMW M2 (fuel
consumption, combined: 9.8 – 9.6 litres/100 km [28.8 – 29.4 mpg imp];
CO2 emissions, combined: 222 – 218 g/km in the WLTP cycle)
from July 2023.

New option for the BMW X7: BMW crystal headlights Iconic Glow.

Exclusive front-end styling brings heightened visual expression to
BMW’s luxury models. Here, the optional BMW crystal headlights Iconic
Glow – first introduced on the new BMW 7 Series and also available for
the BMW X7 from April 2023 – radiate a particularly vibrant presence.
With this headlights option, crystals from Swarovski positioned in the
upper section of the lights and backlit by LED units perform the role
of sidelights and daytime driving lights. Both when the sun is shining
and at night, the crystals reflect the light in a multitude of facets.
These headlights team up with the contour lighting for the BMW kidney
grille to create a distinctive light signature.

From April 2023, customers will also be able to specify a new visual
flourish for the rear end of the largest Sports Activity Vehicle: the
optional M high-gloss Shadowline exterior trim with extended elements
will now also include a rear trim strip in Black high-gloss.

BMW 7 Series, BMW X7 and BMW iX: controlling parking
manoeuvres with an Apple iPhone.

The extended Parking Assistant Professional available for the BMW 7
Series, BMW X7 and BMW iX from spring 2023 brings greater comfort when
parking and manoeuvring. Here, BMW employs innovative digital
technology to make further advances in the area of automated driving
and parking. The extended Parking Assistant Professional gives drivers
the ability to guide their car into and out of parking spaces and also
carry out more complex manoeuvring from outside the car via the My BMW
App on their smartphone (available with My BMW App Version 2.12.x).

This functionality facilitates the use of extremely tight or
hard-to-access parking spaces. For example, the driver can pause a
parking process that is already underway, get out of the car and then
resume the manoeuvre while they monitor the area around the car from
the outside. They can then also control the car’s exit from the space
from their smartphone using the Parking Assistant Professional.

Switching between controlling the car when inside it and doing so
from the outside is also possible for more extensive manoeuvres using
the Manoeuvre Assistant function likewise included in the Parking
Assistant Professional. I.e. the driver can also operate this function
from outside their car and monitor its progress using their
smartphone. They can be up to six metres away from the vehicle while
doing so. The Manoeuvre Assistant can record and store up to ten
manoeuvres at different locations, each covering a maximum distance of
200 metres and up to a combined total of 600 metres. When the vehicle
then returns to one of the starting points, the system performs all
the driving tasks required in fully automated form, including
acceleration, braking, steering and, if required, multiple direction
and gear changes. And it can do so whether the driver remains inside
the car or chooses to control the manoeuvre from outside using their
Apple iPhone.

BMW iX now with manually activated heat management for the
high-voltage battery, plus the Trailer Assistant.

All model variants of the purely electrically driven BMW iX will be
equipped with a further developed version of the predictive heat
management technology for the high-voltage battery from March 2023. As
in the BMW i7, it will be possible to initiate pre-warming of the
battery manually and when the navigation system’s route guidance is
not active. Warming the battery ahead of a charging stop optimises the
absorption of energy when topping up at a DC fast-charging station.
Waste heat from the electric motors is used to adjust the temperature
of the battery.

The Driving Assistant fitted as standard on the BMW iX will also
include the Trailer Assistant from March 2023. This function carries
out the necessary steering movements during reversing manoeuvres when
a trailer is coupled to the vehicle.

BMW 4 Series and BMW M4 now with BMW Operating System 8 and
BMW Curved Display.

A fresh digitalisation push will also enhance the appeal of the BMW 4
Series models and BMW M4 high-performance sports cars from spring
2023. These ultra-sporty cars for the premium midsize segment will be
equipped as standard with BMW Operating System 8 and will therefore
also be fitted with the control/operation system iDrive with BMW
Curved Display. The fully digital screen grouping of
the standard-fitted BMW Live Cockpit Plus is composed of a 12.3-inch
information display behind the steering wheel and a control display
with a screen diagonal of 14.9 inches. The modern cockpit design and
the extended capabilities of the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant
enable a significant reduction in the number of buttons and
controllers in favour of voice and touch control. An expressive
welcome sound, which will also now be audible in the BMW i4 models
when the driver’s door or front passenger door is opened, highlights
the digital advances introduced into the interior.

All of the engines available for the BMW 4 Series Coupé, BMW 4 Series
Gran Coupé and BMW 4 Series Convertible will link up as standard with
an eight-speed Steptronic transmission. From March 2023, this
specification will also include gearshift paddles on the steering
wheel and a new selector lever in the control panel on the centre
console. M high-gloss Shadowline for the side window surrounds will
also be included as standard for all model variants.

The M interior trim strip in Aluminium Rhombicle anthracite added to
the options list for the BMW 4 Series models and all BMW M4 Coupé and
BMW M4 Convertible variants will allow customers to bring further
individualisation to the interior of their cars. From March 2023, BMW
M4 models can also be ordered with an instrument panel in Sensatec.
And an M design graphic will be offered exclusively for the bonnet and
boot lid of the BMW M4 Coupé models. From March 2023, this contrasting
paint finish accentuating their distinctive sports car character will
be available not only in Black high-gloss but also in Red high-gloss.

New mode 3 charging cable for many all-electric BMW models.

From spring 2023, selected BMW models with all-electric drive that
support AC charging at 22 kW will be given new equipment items from
the BMW Charging range to increase both efficiency and speed when
charging their high-voltage batteries. All model variants of the BMW
iX, the BMW i7 xDrive60 (electric power consumption combined in the
WLTP cycle: 19.6 – 18.4 kWh/100 km; CO2 emissions: 0 g/km)
and the BMW iX1 xDrive30 (electric power consumption combined in the
WLTP cycle: 18.1 – 16.8 kWh/100 km; CO2 emissions: 0 g/km)
will be delivered with a mode 3 charging cable Professional designed
to work with charging capacity of up to 22 kW.

The new mode 3 charging cable Professional enables the use of
extremely high-power AC public charging stations. The maximum usable
charging capacity will now be double that possible with the mode 3
charging cable previously supplied as standard.

BMW Digital Key Plus with extended functions, new
BMW Operating System 9 makes its debut.

In spring 2023, the BMW Digital Key plus already available for many
current BMW models will gain new and extended functions. These include
automatic vehicle unlocking when approaching the car for owners with
Samsung smartphones and other smartphones running the Android
operating system and the UWB (Ultra-Wideband) chip. Added to which,
BMW Digital Keys shared with third parties can be activated more
easily inside the car.

In an initial pilot phase, selected BMW X1 models will be offered
with the new BMW Operating System 9 in the UK from the second quarter
of 2023. This new operating system opens the door to an extended range
of apps, optimised touch control and more frequent updates. Additional
BMW compact-class models will follow suit in other countries over the
course of 2023.

CO2 EMISSIONS & CONSUMPTION.

Munich. When the snow starts falling and the roads
get icy, the new BMW X1 and new BMW iX1 are in their element. Their
robust character profile and BMW xDrive provide all the necessary
tools for the job at hand – and in winter training on the glacier
above Sölden, Austria they are showcasing the benefits of fully
variable power transfer to all four wheels once again. What is more,
the new edition of the compact Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) is now
available with three variants of intelligent all-wheel drive. Whether
it’s joining forces with mild hybrid petrol and diesel engines, a
plug-in hybrid drive system or all-electric power in the new BMW iX1,
BMW xDrive serves up assured progress and wintry driving pleasure on
the snow-packed test routes of Austria’s Ötztal region.

Six model variants of the new SAV with BMW xDrive are now on sale.
Four of these are here in Sölden to shine a spotlight on the
intelligent all-wheel-drive system in all its variety. The most
powerful petrol- and diesel-engined representatives of the new BMW X1
embody the transfer of drive to all four wheels – as required at any
time – in its original form. 48V mild hybrid technology provides these
models with an extra electric power boost, which optimises efficiency
and, most prominently, sharpens power delivery.

In the new BMW X1 xDrive23i (fuel consumption combined:
7.2 – 6.5 l/100 km [39.2 – 43.5 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions
combined: 163 – 146 g/km in the WLTP cycle; NEDC figures: – ) this
produces an overall output of 160 kW/218 hp. The new BMW X1 xDrive23d
(fuel consumption combined: 5.4 – 4.8 l/100 km [52.3 – 58.9 mpg imp];
CO<sub>2</sub> emissions combined: 141 – 125 g/km in the WLTP cycle;
NEDC figures: – ) develops 155 kW/211 hp. In both cases, the drive
power produced by the combination of combustion engine and electric
motor is split between the front and rear wheels via a bevel gear and
an electrohydraulically controlled hang-on clutch. Interlinked with
DSC (Dynamic Stability Control), this system responds to changes in
conditions in a fraction of a second and directs power to where it is needed.

The new BMW X1 xDrive30e (fuel consumption combined: 1.0 – 0.7 l/100
km [282.5 – 403.5 mpg imp]; electric power consumption combined:
20.9 – 18.0 kWh/100 km; CO2 emissions combined:
23 – 16 g/km in the WLTP cycle; NEDC figures: – ) is the most powerful
of the two plug-in hybrid options for the new BMW X1. Here, a
three-cylinder petrol engine driving the front wheels and an electric
motor sending power through the rear wheels develop system output of
240 kW/326 hp. The precisely controlled interplay of combustion engine
and electric motor delivers hybrid-specific all-wheel drive. At the
winter test in Sölden, this is evident most strikingly in the
instantaneous availability of power when pulling away and the cars’
sure-footed traction on snow-covered surfaces.

With one electric motor at the front axle and one at the rear, the
new BMW iX1 xDrive30 (electric power consumption combined:
18.1 – 16.8 kWh/100 km; CO2 emissions combined: 0 g/km in
the WLTP cycle; NEDC figures: – ) also offers customers a drive
concept in which the transfer of power to all four wheels is an
inherent element of its design. Together, its duo of electric motors
generate maximum output of 230 kW/313 hp, which can be translated into
driving pleasure extremely effectively on the snow-covered tracks of
the winter testing facility, as elsewhere.

In the electrified drive variants of the SAV, credit for the
impressive traction on display goes to a globally unique drive torque
control system – an AWD-specific version of near-actuator wheel slip
limitation (ARB-X). This allows the power requested by the driver to
be distributed even more precisely to optimise not only the traction
and directional stability of the new BMW iX1 xDrive30 and new BMW
X1 Drive30e, but also their agility and driving performance. When
moving off on slippery ground or driving dynamically through corners,
for example, the amount of drive sent through the rear wheels is
increased as required to prevent the front wheels from spinning and to
enhance the car’s agility.

Improving safety and therefore the driving experience on challenging
terrain, meanwhile, are driver assistance functions offered for the
first time in the segment occupied by the new BMW X1. These include
camera feeds sent to the control display when the Hill Descent Control
and drive-off assistant systems are in use, helping the driver to
navigate tricky mountain routes and negotiate ice- and snow-affected surfaces.

CO2 EMISSIONS & CONSUMPTION.

BMW X1 xDrive23i: fuel consumption combined: 7.2 – 6.5 l/100 km [39.2

Regensburg. Today’s start of production for the
fully-electric BMW iX1* in Regensburg illustrates the pace with which
the BMW Group is ramping up electromobility. As announced almost two
years ago, all German plants can now produce electric cars. The
smallest model among the BMW Sports Activity Vehicles will boost the
volume of electric vehicles. Milan Nedeljković, member of the Board of
Management of BMW AG responsible for Production, already announced the
next milestone at the start of production: “We are delivering the
goods. By 2024, at least one in three BMWs coming out of our Bavarian
plants will be an electric car.” Further proof, then, that the BMW
Group is systematically implementing its electrification strategy,
relying on speed and short distances. The high-voltage battery in the
BMW iX1* also comes from Regensburg.

Bavarian Minister of Transport Christian Bernreiter: “Bavaria is
Germany’s number-one state for cars and has a long tradition of
building vehicles. However, that success doesn’t just lie in the
achievements of the past, but also in research, development and
innovation. The BMW iX1* and its high-voltage battery underline that
BMW can master the future. That this fully-electric car will come off
the production line in Regensburg also represents a strong commitment
to Bavaria as a car-building location.”

The start of production for the new BMW iX1* means BMW Group Plant
Regensburg is now manufacturing all drive technologies on a single
line as part of its flexible production process – for
combustion-engine, plug-in hybrid and fully-electric models. According
to Carsten Regent, head of BMW Group Plant Regensburg: “The
electrification and transformation of the plant gives me optimism for
the future. Our aim now – also with the new BMW iX1* – is to continue
to impress customers all over the world with cars made in Regensburg.”

BMW iFACTORY: Digital twin of Plant Regensburg

Lean, green, digital: With its BMW iFACTORY, the BMW Group is setting
new standards and defining the future of automotive production. This
is also evident at the Regensburg location, where the plant is a
trailblazer for digitalisation. As part of a recent pilot project, the
plant was digitally mapped. The resulting digital twin enables highly
efficient planning of future plant structures and production
facilities. The plant’s paint shop, for instance, relies on artificial
intelligence: Paint surfaces are scanned to ensure flawless quality
and then finished using a fully-automated programme customised for
each vehicle to deliver a perfect customer experience. Artificial
intelligence is also used in vehicle assembly at Plant Regensburg –
specifically, AI-supported image recognition methods that assist
employees with quality inspections. The AIQX (Artificial Intelligence
Quality Next) computer system that is used for this learns to
recognise objects such as a person from sample images, making it a
useful supplement to conventional, camera-based quality inspections.

Predictive maintenance ensures that technical faults, e.g. in
conveyor systems, are detected early, before system downtimes can
occur. Installations and machinery are monitored through automated
evaluation of process data.

Short distances: high-voltage
battery from neighbouring production facility

Avoiding consumption and conserving resources: The BMW iFACTORY is
also about ensuring short distances for logistics. “The close link
between component and vehicle production is part of our strategy,”
says Markus Fallböhmer, head of Battery Production at the BMW Group.
The company is moving at a rapid pace, especially considering that the
first of five coating lines for battery cells only went on-stream at
the Regensburg electric component production facility in April 2021.
“We put our new high-voltage battery assembly line into service in
October. Now, we are already supplying the neighbouring vehicle plant
with high-voltage batteries for the BMW iX1*,” explained Fallböhmer.
By the end of the year, over 400 employees will be working in electric
component production at the 45,000- square-metre facility in Regensburg.

1.6 billion euros invested in electric components at German
sites to date

By the end of 2022, the BMW Group will have invested a total of more
than 1.6 billion euros in electric component production at its German
locations in Dingolfing, Leipzig and Regensburg. More than 3,300
employees currently work in BMW Group electric component production at
those sites.

CO2 EMISSIONS & CONSUMPTION.

Munich. Just a few weeks after the market launch of
the new BMW X1, the fully electric model variant of the compact Sports
Activity Vehicle (SAV) will also be released onto the road for the
first time in November 2022. Together with the BMW iX1 xDrive30 (power
consumption combined according to WLTP: 18.1 - 16.8 kWh/100 km;
CO2 emissions: 0 g/km; data according to NEDC: - ), two
plug-in hybrid models and two further variants of the new BMW X1 with
conventional combustion engine drive are also being launched.

With additional engines and new optional extras, BMW is also
increasing the efficiency and attractiveness of numerous other model
series for autumn 2022. These include new entry-level motors and
engines for the all-electric BMW i4 and the BMW 2 Series Active
Tourer, an innovation package for the BMW 1 Series and the BMW 2
Series Gran Coupé, as well as innovations in the field of
digitalisation for optimising driving pleasure, comfort and safety.

BMW X1 and BMW iX1: Consistent electrification in new diversity.

The BMW iX1 xDrive30 is the brand's first all-wheel drive electric
vehicle in the premium compact segment. With this model, the BMW Group
is consistently continuing its model offensive in the field of purely
electric mobility and making locally emission-free driving pleasure
attractive to broad target groups. Two highly integrated e-drive units
on the front and rear axles generate a combined output of 230 kW/313
hp, including a temporary boost. The torque generated by the whole
system is 494 Nm. The new BMW iX1 xDrive30 accelerates from zero to
100 km/h in 5.6 seconds. Its range, determined in the WLTP test cycle,
is between 417 and 440 kilometres.

The consistent electrification of the drive portfolio also includes
the two plug-in hybrid models BMW X1 xDrive30e (fuel consumption
combined: 1.0 - 0.7/100 km; combined power consumption: 16.9 - 14.7
kWh/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 23 - 16 g/km according
to WLTP; data according to NEDC: and BMW X1 xDrive25e (combined fuel
consumption: 1.0 - 0.7/100 km; combined power consumption:
16.8 - 14.6 kWh/100 km; combined CO2 emissions:
22 - 15 g/km according to WLTP; data according to NEDC: -) as well as
two new combustion engine variants with 48-volt mild hybrid
technology. The plug-in hybrid systems each consist of a highly
integrated e-drive unit acting on the rear wheels and a 3-cylinder
petrol engine driving the front wheels via the 7-speed Steptronic
transmission with dual clutch. Fifth-generation lithium-ion
high-voltage batteries arranged flat in the vehicle floor with a
usable energy content of 14.2 kWh and optimised efficiency through
intelligent energy management and adaptive recuperation enable an
electric range of 76 to 88 kilometres according to WLTP for the BMW X1
xDrive30e and 77 to 92 kilometres according to WLTP for the BMW X1 xDrive25e.

The drive system of the new BMW X1 xDrive30e generates an output of
up to 240 kW/326 hp (jointly delivered by the combustion engine with
up to 110 kW/150 hp and the electric drive with up to 130 kW/177 hp).
This means that the more powerful of the two plug-in hybrid models
sprints from a standstill to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds. With a maximum
output of up to 180 kW/245 hp (jointly generated by the combustion
engine with up to 100 kW/136 hp and the electric drive with up to 80
kW/109 hp), the plug-in hybrid system of the new BMW X1 xDrive25e
takes the car from zero to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds.

Electrification also gives the combustion engines of the new BMW X1
sDrive20i (fuel consumption combined: 6.6 - 5.9 litres/100 km;
combined CO<sub>2</sub> emissions: 149 - 133 g/km according to WLTP;
data according to NEDC: - ) and the new BMW X1 xDrive20d (combined
fuel consumption: 5.4 - 4.8 litres/100 km; combined CO2
emissions: 142 - 127 g/km according to WLTP; data according to NEDC: -
) a higher level of efficiency and a particularly sporty power
delivery. Its 48-volt mild hybrid technology consists of an electric
motor integrated into the 7-speed Steptronic transmission with dual
clutch, which acts as a starter generator and can both relieve and
support the combustion engine. In the BMW X1 sDrive20i it is combined
with a 3-cylinder petrol engine. This results in a maximum output of
125 kW/170 hp (jointly generated by the combustion engine with up to
115 kW/156 hp and the electric drive with up to 14 kW/19 hp) and a
maximum torque of 280 Nm (jointly generated by the combustion engine
with up to 240 Nm and the electric drive with up to 55 Nm), taking the
car from a standstill to 100 km/h in 8.3 seconds. A 4-cylinder diesel
engine and mild hybrid technology give the BMW X1 xDrive20d a maximum
output of 120 kW/163 hp (generated jointly by the combustion engine
with up to 110 kW/150 hp and the electric drive with up to 14 kW/19
hp) and a maximum torque of 400 Nm (generated jointly by the
combustion engine with up to 360 Nm and the electric drive with up to
55 Nm), enabling it to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 8.6 seconds.

BMW i4 eDrive35: New entry-level engine for the all-electric
Gran Coupé.

The BMW i4 model family will be joined by another member in November
2022 as well. The BMW i4 eDrive35 (power consumption combined
according to WLTP: 18.7 - 15.8 kWh/100 km; CO2 emissions: 0
g/km; data according to NEDC: - ) is the new entry-level model in the
all-electric Gran Coupé range in the premium mid-size segment. The
third model variant also features fifth-generation BMW eDrive
technology. A highly integrated drive unit with 210 kW/286 hp and a
maximum torque of 400 Nm powers the rear axle and enables acceleration
from zero to 100 km/h in 6.0 seconds.

The range of the BMW i4 eDrive35 in the statutory WLTP cycle is up to
483 kilometres. Its high-quality standard equipment includes, among
other things, the latest-generation BMW iDrive developed on the basis
of BMW Operating System 8, including BMW Curved Display and BMW Live
Cockpit Plus including BMW Maps navigation system.

BMW 216i Active Tourer: New entry-level engine for the compact all-rounder.

A new entry-level engine will also enrich the model range of the BMW
2 Series Active Tourer in autumn 2022. The new BMW 216i Active Tourer
(fuel consumption combined: 6.7 – 6.2 litres/100 km; combined
CO2 emissions: 152 - 140 g/km according to WLTP; data
according to NEDC: - ) offers a particularly economical way to
experience the driving pleasure and versatility of the compact
all-rounder. It is powered by a 1.5-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine
that generates a maximum output of 90 kW/122 hp and a maximum torque
of 230 Nm. The engine's power is delivered to the front wheels via a
7-speed Steptronic transmission with dual clutch as standard. The new
BMW 216i Active Tourer accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 10.3 seconds.

Innovation package for the BMW 1 Series and the BMW 2 Series
Gran Coupé, new gear selector for the BMW iX3.

In order to facilitate individualising the car, BMW bundles
attractive optional extras in model-specific packages. From November
2022, an innovation package will be available for the BMW 1 Series and
the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé, the contents of which will enhance
driving pleasure as well as comfort and safety.

The new Innovation Package includes Comfort Access including Digital
Key and Welcome, the interior and exterior mirror package as well as
automatic air conditioning with 2-zone control and electric seat
adjustment including memory function on the driver's side. Adaptive
LED headlights and high beam assistant ensue optimised illumination of
the road. The BMW Head-Up Display and telephony with wireless charging
are also included in the Innovation Package.

There is a substantial design modification regarding the interior of
the BMW iX3 (power consumption combined according to WLTP:
18.9 - 18.5 kWh/100 km; CO2 emissions: 0 g/km; data
according to NEDC: - ). The all-electric Sports Activity Vehicle of
the premium mid-size class will be equipped with a redesigned gear
selector on the centre console from January 2023. This means that a
control element in the new, reduced interior design from BMW is also
available in this model selecting gears.

BMW M Laptimer now as a vehicle app - time measurement also
for BMW models with BMW Operating System 7.

Performance becomes measurable thanks to the BMW M Laptimer. The
function is now available in Europe, the USA and Canada as a vehicle
app in many current BMW models and BMW M automobiles. With the BMW M
Laptimer, lap times can be recorded while driving on the race track.
The total duration and track length of the ride, the number of laps,
the time for the fastest lap and the highest speed achieved are
displayed. The system recognises the start and finish line of a lap
using recurring GPS coordinates. The length of a measured lap can be
between one and 37 kilometres.

The BMW M Laptimer is available as a vehicle app in all models
equipped with BMW Operating System 7 and the Connected Package
Professional option. In the models of the BMW M3/BMW M4 series, the M
Laptimer App is part of the optional M Drive Professional equipment.
In these models, once the time measurement has been activated, there
is a widget in the instrument cluster that shows the current and final
lap time. In addition, the BMW Head-Up Display shows both the current
lap time and the difference to the fastest lap so far during the
course of a recording.

Innovations regarding the Digital Key and Digital Key Plus.

The optional BMW Digital Key and Digital Key Plus can now be shared
across platforms between users of iOS and Android devices, including
via e-mail or messenger service, for example. Until now, only the
Apple iPhone offered the Digital Key Plus, which uses
security-optimised ultra-wideband radio technology (UWB) to
automatically unlock the BMW iX and the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer
when you approach them and lock them when you move away. You can
simply keep the device in your pocket. From December 2022, this
convenient access method will also be possible with Android devices
that are equipped with a corresponding UWB chip and are enabled for
Digital Key Plus (initially Google Pixel Pro).

The Digital Key Plus also enables additional functions via the My BMW
app using UWB technology near vehicles with production dates from
November 2022 (an Apple iPhone with iOS 16 operating system is
required). The additional functions are displayed in the My BMW app as
soon as you approach the vehicle to within about six 6 metres. These
include the comfort open/close functions, known from the long press on
open/close with the physical vehicle key, as well as the level control
for vehicles with air suspension. In the BMW 7 Series, the optional
automatic doors can also be operated via the My BMW app within the UWB
range. For vehicles equipped with BMW Operating System 8 and Parking
Assistant Professional, Remote Control Parking can also be controlled
via the My BMW app.

Continuous tyre pressure monitoring with notification in the
My BMW app, new Digital Art Mode in the BMW 7 Series, BMW iX, BMW 2
Series Active Tourer and BMW X1.

The digital tyre diagnosis system, which comes as standard in many
current BMW models, will include an additional function from November
2022. The tyre pressure will be continuously monitored in the future.
For example, if a loss of pressure is registered in a parked vehicle,
the customer receives a notification via the My BMW app. Continuous
tyre pressure monitoring is available in the BMW 1 Series, BMW 2
Series Coupé, BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé, BMW 3 Series and BMW 4 Series
models, BMW 7 Series and BMW X7.

In the BMW 7 Series, the BMW iX, the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer and
the BMW X1, the driving experience, which can be customised with the
help of My Modes, will also be enriched with a unique artistic
experience from November 2022. The new Digital Art Mode will be
available for the first time. The exclusive digital work "Quantum
Garden" by Chinese multimedia artist Cao Fei is shown on the
vehicle displays.

New functions for the My BMW app.

With the latest update, the range of functions of the My BMW app has
been expanded to provide additional usage options. The app now
includes a first-mile function that shows customers the route to their
vehicle on their smartphone. In future, they will also be able to
search for contacts stored on their smartphone in the My BMW app, call
up ratings and pictures for so-called points of interest and pay
parking fees at a variety of locations. From autumn 2022, the My BMW
app will provide users of models with electrified drive systems with
specific information in the event of charging irregularities. In
future, all functions specially designed for electric mobility can be
found more easily via an entry point in the vehicle menu area.

The new "My Trips" function provides the customer with trip
data in the My BMW app. For example, information on the distance
travelled, average speed, fuel consumption and CO2
emissions are listed. Drivers of models with electrified drive systems
are also informed about the proportion of the route they have driven electrically.

The user interface for the vehicle menu area has also been updated.
If the vehicle's air conditioning is activated using the My BMW app,
this can be seen on the picture of the vehicle. Information about
customer support can be found in the Profile menu area under
"Contact us".

Goodwood. All eyes will be on BMW M GmbH at the 2022
Goodwood Festival of Speed, as BMW’s legendary Motorsport division
celebrates five decades of success. Festivalgoers will witness the
world premiere of the first-ever BMW M3 Touring and the UK premiere of
the new BMW M4 CSL, as both take to the hill throughout the
world-famous four-day event. All this against the backdrop of a
striking central feature sculpture on the lawn of Goodwood House,
designed as a homage to 50 years of motorsport excellence as it
showcases some of the most iconic models from BMW M. Elsewhere,
visitors will be able to see – and in some cases, drive – the latest
models from BMW’s exciting range, including the new BMW iX1, i7, i4
and iX M60.

For the first time in its history, the BMW M range will be
complemented by a BMW M3 Touring which is a distillation of the
technological prowess and know-how from the BMW M3 and M4 family,
combined with the practicality of a five-door touring model. This
latest BMW M model will be unveiled at BMW M at Trackside at 10:00 am
(BST) on Thursday 23 June, alongside a high-performance M3 Touring
with Performance Parts, and can then be seen on the Hillclimb in the
‘First Glance’ category every day of the Festival.

Alongside the M3 Touring and BMW M3 Touring MotoGP Safety Car on the
hill will be the new BMW M4 CSL, celebrating its UK premiere. This
ultimate, track-honed, two-seater coupe is defined by a 40hp power
hike over the current BMW M4 Competition Coupé to 550hp, while
meticulous weight-saving measures – including the use of carbon-fibre
for the roof, bonnet and boot lid – achieve a 100kg reduction in
overall weight (in standard specification in the German market). As a
result, the new BMW M4 CSL has recorded the best-ever lap-time for a
BMW road car at the Nürburgring’s Nordschleife circuit.

With BMW M GmbH as the honoured marque, the Central Feature in front
of Goodwood House will present an eye-catching display of BMW M cars
past, present and future. BMW UK will add its legendary BMW 3.0 CSL to
the Central Feature, while BMW Group Classic is providing three
further examples: the BMW M1 Procar from the late 1970s; a WTCC BMW 3
Series E90; the Le Mans winning 1999 BMW V12 LMR. The display is
completed by the BMW M LMDh racecar, that will debut next year.

Besides providing historic BMW M cars for the Central Feature, BMW
Group Classic will bring four additional famous race cars to
Goodwood’s Hillclimb. Pedro Piquet (BRA), son of three-time F1 World
Champion Nelson Piquet, will drive the world’s first turbo-charged F1
World Champion car, the 1983 Brabham BMW BT52.

Steve Soper (UK) will climb the hill in the BMW V12 LMR on Thursday.
He is followed by Markus Flasch (CEO of BMW M GmbH, 2018-2021), who
will be in the driver’s seat on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

HRH Leopold Prince of Bavaria (GER) will drive the sharknose BMW
635CSi and Bruno Spengler (CAN) will drive his famous BMW Z4 GTR which
features the Michel Vaillant Design from the 2015 Spa-Francorchamps
24h race.

For many, BMW M at Trackside will form the focal point for the long
weekend’s celebrations. Crowned by an original BMW M1, the stand will
host iconic models from BMW M’s illustrious past, from the legendary
BMW M3 E30 to the revered BMW M3 CSL E46. They will take their place
alongside a thrilling line-up of modern-day BMW M greats, from the
ultimate 635hp BMW M5 CS and track-honed BMW M4 GT3 to the exclusive
new BMW M850i Convertible and innovative electric BMW i4 M50. Visitors
will be able to catch a glimpse of the future for BMW M, with the
innovative BMW Concept XM, a vision of uncompromising high performance
and extravagant luxury.

The Stable Yard – once again dedicated to BMW’s latest range of
all-electric and electrified models – will offer the chance to see the
stunning BMW i Vision Circular, a concept which illustrates the
company’s determination to become the most sustainable manufacturer.
Optimised for the circular economy and with the goal of achieving 100%
recycled and recyclable material use, the BMW i Vision Circular offers
a view of a compact yet luxurious fully-electric vehicle with a focus
on sustainability for the year 2040.

BMW’s sustainability focus is equally apparent in the new BMW i7, on
display in The Stable Yard following its recent unveiling. The latest
version of the brand’s flagship saloon is set to redefine the luxury
segment with new levels of electrification and digitalisation. Its
state-of-the-art all-electric drivetrain is complemented by a blend of
luxurious interior design and an astonishing entertainment experience,
with the multi-sensory BMW iDrive and unique 31.3-inch 8K BMW Theatre
Screen. These attributes are further displayed in the powerful new BMW
M760e, a plug-in hybrid with 571hp that delivers scintillating
performance yet achieves remarkable efficiency.

The recently revealed BMW iX1 will make its UK debut at Goodwood
Festival of Speed, representing another first at the Stable Yard. The
third-generation BMW X1 features a sharper design, across-the-board
sustainability and cutting-edge digital innovations. Available for the
first time with an all-electric drive system, the BMW iX1 xDrive30 is
set to offer an electric driving range between 257 – 272 miles (WLTP,
provisional figures).

These models will also be joined by the company’s technology
flagship, the new BMW iX M60, a fully-electric Sports Activity Vehicle
that combines emissions-free driving pleasure and sporting agility
with lounge-style luxury and comfort. Powered by two BMW M eDrive
electric motors to provide intelligent BMW xDrive all-wheel-drive
capability, the BMW iX M60 can accelerate from 0-62 mph in a seamless
3.8 seconds, yet still achieve up to 348 miles (WLTP) of driving range
on a single charge.

Members of the public will be able to experience the BMW iX M60’s
searing performance for themselves during Friday’s ‘Electric Only’
Motor Circuit Test Drives, where they’ll also be able to take to the
circuit behind the wheel of the new BMW i4, the brand’s first-ever
fully-electric Gran Coupé, and the practical BMW iX3.

Frank van Meel, CEO of BMW M, said: “There can be no better place to
celebrate our 50th anniversary than among our fans at this year’s
Goodwood Festival of Speed, surrounded by the iconic cars that have
cemented our position in motorsport history. But we’ll also spend our
time at the world-famous event looking to the future, with a selection
of exciting new models from our innovative electrified line-up, and
the global premiere of the eagerly-anticipated first-ever BMW M3 Touring.”

The Goodwood Festival of Speed is being held over four days from
23-26 June 2022.

CO2 EMISSIONS & CONSUMPTION.

In its third model generation, the new BMW X1 boasts a more prominent design, superior spaciousness, advanced digitalisation – and, for the first time, an all-electric drive system. In the new BMW iX1, meanwhile, instantly accessible driving pleasure and modern versatility are brought together with locally emission-free mobility. A new control/operation system with BMW Operating System 8 and BMW Curved Display plus a far wider selection of automated driving and parking systems also help to define the forward-looking character of this Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) for the premium compact segment.</pp:summary>

Munich.

With its robust appearance and functional versatility, the new BMW X1
embodies an authentic experience of freedom and independence in
day-to-day driving and on longer journeys. The interior’s progressive
design and sophisticated ambience, and the much broader selection of
standard equipment compared to the outgoing model, serve to underline
its deeply embedded premium character.

At launch in October 2022, there will initially be a choice of two
petrol and two diesel engines. These will link up with a seven-speed
Steptronic transmission with double clutch as standard, and their
drive power will be channelled to the road via either the front wheels
or the BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system, depending on the
model. This starting quartet will immediately be followed by the
all-electric BMW iX1 xDrive30 (electric power consumption, combined in
the WLTP cycle: 18.1 – 16.8 kWh/100 km; CO2 emissions: 0
g/km; figures in NEDC cycle: – ) as well as by a pair of plug-in
hybrid models and another two conventionally powered variants with 48V
mild hybrid technology. The new BMW X1 will be built at BMW Group
Plant Regensburg, where models with combustion engines, plug-in hybrid
systems and all-electric drive will all roll off a single assembly
line for the first time.

The BMW iX1 will bring the experience of locally emission-free
driving pleasure to a vehicle segment enjoying worldwide growth,
making it accessible to a very wide target audience. The compact SAV
powered by the latest BMW eDrive technology will therefore give a
major boost to the accelerated ramp-up of electric mobility. The
improvements in sustainability compared to the predecessor model can
be partly attributed not just to the wide-ranging electrification
measures, but also the increased use of green energy, both for
production and in the supply chain, and the greater quantities of
secondary raw materials and natural materials used.

Design: modern surface treatment, increased visual presence and
robust looks in unmistakable BMW X model style.

The surface treatment, lines and classy exterior design details of
the BMW X1 display its Sports Activity Vehicle identity more clearly
than ever in its third model generation. Distinctive design features
include the powerful proportions, almost square wheel arch contours
and the signature BMW X model styling of the front and rear ends.

The upright front end of the new BMW X1 gives it a much greater sense
of presence, with slim LED headlights, a large, almost square BMW
kidney grille, X-shaped lines radiating out to the sides and
eye-catching chrome strips in the lower air intake serving as its
defining elements. Adaptive LED headlights with matrix high beam,
pulsating turn indicators and variable light distribution are
available as an option.

Expressively sculpted surfaces and a long roofline are the
distinguishing features of the new model’s dynamically stretched
silhouette. When viewed from the rear, the slim tailgate window,
horizontal lines, striking LED lights and flared wheel arches produce
the typical SAV look.

The robust aura of the new BMW X1 can be intensified to great effect
with the specific design elements of the xLine model, which include
stylistic underride protection. The M Sport model also offered as an
alternative to base specification places the focus firmly on dynamic
driving pleasure with features such as its large cooling air inlets.

All model variants come as standard with 17-inch light-alloy wheels.
18-inch light-alloy wheels are fitted on xLine and M Sport cars,
although these models are also available with 19-inch and – in a first
for the BMW X1 – 20‑inch wheels. Customers can choose from two solid
and ten metallic shades for the exterior paint finish – including a
Frozen paint option from BMW Individual for the first time.

Interior: progressive ambience, versatile space.

A raised seating position and a progressive premium ambience styled
on the BMW iX help to create a distinctive driving experience inside
the compact SAV. The key elements of the cabin’s redesign are the
slender instrument panel, the BMW Curved Display, the “floating”
armrest with integral control panel and the smartphone tray with
indirect illumination at the front of the centre console.

The newly developed seats are available with the option of both
Sensatec perforated and Vernasca leather upholstery. Also to be found
on the options list are sport seats, electric seat adjustment with
memory function and lumbar support including massage function.
Improvements have been made to both acoustic comfort and occupant
protection. The integrated passive safety concept now also includes a
new interaction airbag between the front seats.

The rear compartment of the new BMW X1 includes three full-sized
seats offering a notable improvement in seating comfort. The
40 : 20 : 40 split rear seat backrests can be folded down or adjusted
to a different angle to expand the boot capacity. The fore-and-aft
adjustment of the rear seats available as an option for the purely
combustion-engined models provides even greater versatility. Boot
capacity can be increased from 540 to a maximum of 1,600 litres. The
trailer tow hitch available to order as an option for the new BMW X1
is now operated electrically at the touch of a button.

Two-zone automatic climate control, Sport leather steering wheel and
BMW Maps as standard.

The BMW Maps navigation system, a Sport leather steering wheel,
intelligent two-zone automatic climate control and a rain sensor with
automatic headlight activation all come as standard in the new
generation of the BMW X1, as do four USB-C ports, two 12V power
sockets and a far greater number of driver assistance systems compared
with the outgoing model.

Restructured equipment packages enable targeted individualisation of
the car. The premium character can be turned up another notch by
optional features such as the mirror package, ambient lighting,
panoramic glass sunroof and Harman Kardon Sound System.

BMW iX1: a new era of driving pleasure in the compact SAV begins.

The BMW iX1 xDrive30 is the first all-wheel-drive electric car
introduced by the brand in the premium compact segment. Two highly
integrated drive units at the front and rear axles deliver a combined
output of 230 kW/313 hp (taking the temporary boost effect into
account), and post overall torque of 494 Nm (364 lb-ft). The electric
all-wheel-drive system ensures supreme traction and directional
stability in all situations. The BMW iX1 xDrive30 completes the 0 to
100 km/h (62 mph) sprint in 5.6 seconds.

The fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology additionally comprises the
car’s highly efficient charging technology, including the improved
charging software also found in the BMW i7, and a high-voltage battery
positioned flat within the vehicle’s underbody, whose high energy
density gives the car a range of 417 – 440 kilometres (259 – 273 miles).

Plug-in hybrid models with increased electric range, petrol and
diesel engines with 48V mild hybrid technology.

Fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology is also employed in the
plug-in hybrid variants of the new BMW X1, which means significant
advances over the preceding generation in terms of sporting prowess,
efficiency and charging capacity. There has also been a substantial
increase in electric range.

The new BMW X1 will be launched with a choice of conventional
combustion engines featuring two petrol and two diesel units from the
BMW Group’s new modular generation of Efficient Dynamics engines.
Second-generation 48V mild hybrid technology with an electric motor
integrated into the seven-speed Steptronic transmission is on hand to
help boost both efficiency and power delivery in the two most powerful engines.

This enables the four-cylinder BMW X1 xDrive23i (fuel consumption
combined: 7.2 – 6.5 l/100 km [39.2 – 43.5 mpg imp]; CO2
emissions combined: 163 – 146 g/km in WLTP cycle; figures in NEDC
cycle: – ) to produce maximum output of 160 kW/218 hp (developed by
the combination of the combustion engine with up to 150 kW/204 hp
and the integral electric motor with up to 14 kW/19 hp). Also in the
launch line-up is the new BMW X1 sDrive18i (fuel consumption combined:
7.1 – 6.3 l/100 km [39.8 – 44.8 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions
combined: 158 – 143 g/km in WLTP cycle; NEDC cycle: – ) powered by a
100 kW/136 hp three-cylinder engine.

A four-cylinder diesel engine combines with mild hybrid technology in
the new BMW X1 xDrive23d (fuel consumption combined: 5.4 – 4.8 l/
100 km [52.3 – 58.9 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined:
141 – 125 g/km in WLTP cycle; NEDC cycle: – ) to deliver maximum
output of 155 kW/211 hp (developed by the combination of the
combustion engine with up to 145 kW/197 hp and the integral electric
motor with up to 14 kW/19 hp). The four-cylinder diesel unit in the
new BMW X1 sDrive18d (fuel consumption combined: 5.5 – 4.9 l/100 km
[51.4 – 57.6 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined:
145 – 129 g/km in WLTP cycle; NEDC cycle: – ) generates 110 kW/150 hp.

All-rounder offering optimum blend of agility and ride comfort.

Irrespective of the drive system fitted, all new BMW X1 models offer
well-resolved handling characteristics in any situation and deliver
the driving experience for which the brand is renowned. The compact
all-rounder’s sophisticated chassis technology produces a perfectly
harmonious balance between sporty, agile handling on the one hand and
long-distance comfort on the other. All the tools required here are
provided by a body construction that reduces weight while increasing
rigidity, a long wheelbase, wider tracks than the predecessor model,
and targeted upgrades to the single-joint spring strut axle at the
front and the three-link rear axle.

Near-actuator wheel slip limitation is fitted as standard in the new
BMW X1, benefiting both traction and directional stability. Other new
features include the integrated braking system and the extra,
lift-related damping at the front axle. The optional adaptive
M suspension features frequency-selective damping, sport steering and
a 15-millimetre drop in ride height.

Wide variety of systems for automated driving and parking.

The technological advances made in the new BMW X1 compared with the
outgoing model are also evident in the far greater variety of
automated driving and parking systems available to use. Standard
features include Cruise Control with brake function and the
front-collision warning system, which is now also capable of detecting
oncoming traffic when turning left (in countries where vehicles drive
on the right) and pedestrians and cyclists when turning right. The
Parking Assistant including Reversing Assist Camera and Reversing
Assistant also forms part of the standard equipment roster.

The list of optional features, meanwhile, includes the Steering and
Lane Control Assistant, Active Cruise Control with Stop&Go
function, Active Navigation, exit warning function and BMW Head-Up
Display, as well as the Surround View, Remote 3D View, BMW Drive
Recorder and Remote Theft Recorder functions. Existing functions can
be upgraded by means of the Remote Software Upgrades facility, which
also makes it possible to add new functions (availability depends on
the hardware fitted in the vehicle and the market conditions).

Standard: BMW Operating System 8 and the new BMW iDrive.

The new BMW X1 also treats its occupants to the latest-generation BMW
iDrive multi-sensory vehicle experience in the form of the
standard-fit BMW Live Cockpit Plus. Based on BMW Operating System 8,
it comprises the BMW Curved Display with its state-of-the-art graphics
and menu structure along with the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant
that has now gained additional skills. The fully digital screen
grouping is formed by the 10.25-inch information display and the
control display with a screen diagonal of 10.7 inches. The new BMW
iDrive is geared purposefully to providing intuitive touch and voice
control. The broad-based digitalisation of the interior enables the
number of physical buttons, controls and switches required for
operation to be significantly reduced.

The new My Modes combine individually selectable vehicle settings
with matching experience worlds for the interior. The Augmented View
function is available as an optional add-on for the cloud-based BMW
Maps navigation system. An interior camera makes it possible to take
snapshots of the occupants or have images of the interior sent to the
customer’s smartphone. In addition to this, a Personal eSIM designed
for 5G mobile technology, the BMW Digital Key Plus, the BMW ID
functionality and smartphone integration using both Apple CarPlay® and
Android Auto™ are also all available in the new BMW X1.

All of the stated model variants, equipment features, technical data
and fuel/electric power consumption and emissions figures relate to
the offering in the German market. Dimensions and measurements refer
to vehicles with basic configuration in Germany. These may vary
depending on the wheel/tyre size and items of optional equipment selected.

Munich. The countdown is on for the third generation
of the all-new BMW X1 – and for the first fully electrically powered
Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) in the premium compact segment. The
first-ever BMW iX1 (electric power consumption combined: 18.4 – 17.3
kWh/100 km in the WLTP cycle; CO<sub>2</sub> emissions: 0 g/km;
electric range: 413 – 438 km [257 – 272 miles] in the WLTP cycle;
figures in the NEDC cycle: – ; predicted values based on the car’s
current stage of development) has now successfully completed driving
dynamics testing at the BMW Group’s winter testing centre in Arjeplog,
northern Sweden. On snow-covered roads and specially prepared ice
tracks around the town of Arjeplog close to the Arctic Circle, it
joined the conventionally powered and plug-in hybrid variants of the
new BMW X1 in passing integrated application tests for its powertrain
and chassis systems. Another fully electric model from the BMW Group
has therefore reached the final phase of series development process.

This test of strength and endurance in bitterly cold temperatures and
wintery road conditions subjected the electric motors, electric
all-wheel-drive technology, high-voltage battery, power electronics
and charging technology of the BMW iX1 to a particularly exacting
examination. Its fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology uses the
latest battery cell technology and intelligently controlled heat
management to enable short charging times and a long range, even in
extreme sub-zero temperatures. With two electric motors (one at the
front axle and one at the rear), whose power delivery is coordinated
precisely to optimise traction and dynamic performance, and its
extremely fast-acting near-actuator wheel slip limitation tech, the
BMW iX1 is perfectly equipped to provide assured progress over any terrain.

At the BMW Group’s winter testing centre in Arjeplog, the powertrain
and chassis systems of new models are put through a process of
exceptionally detailed fine-tuning. Snow-covered roads and areas of
frozen lakes prepared specially for these testing programmes present
the BMW Group’s development and testing engineers with the ideal
conditions in which to hone the interplay of the motors, electric
all-wheel-drive technology and suspension control systems at the
longitudinal and lateral dynamic limits. The ice surfaces, in
particular, provide the perfect, reproducible conditions in which to
explore in detail and optimise how the powertrain and chassis work
together. This intensive testing programme lays the foundations for
reliably secure, assured driving characteristics – with the sporting
edge drivers expect of a BMW – and a well resolved overall vehicle experience.

The BMW iX1 is the brand’s third SAV to feature a purely electric
drive system and will be added to the model range immediately after
the launch of the new BMW X1, which is scheduled to get underway in
autumn 2022. The fully electrically powered model is based on a
flexible vehicle architecture and will be produced on the same
assembly line as the combustion-engined and plug-in hybrid variants of
the compact SAV.

CO2 EMISSIONS & CONSUMPTION.

electric power consumption combined: 18.4 – 17.3 kWh/100 km in the
