Market launch of the BMW M2 with M xDrive will get underway in late summer 2026.</pp:summary>

Munich. With its combination of extremely agile handling, M-typical performance and compact dimensions, the BMW M2 embodies unadulterated driving pleasure in its ultimate expression. The new BMW M2 with M xDrive (fuel consumption, combined: 10.4 – 10.3 l/100 km [27.2 – 27.4 mpg imp]; CO₂ emissions, combined: 235 – 233 g/km according to WLTP, CO₂ class: G)* sees BMW M GmbH expanding the breadth of the M2 model line-up. Here, the all-wheel-drive system M xDrive will be available for the compact high-performance sports car for the first time. M xDrive splits the power developed by the 353 kW/480 hp six-cylinder in-line engine with BMW M TwinPower Turbo technology between the front and rear axles according to the situation at hand. Also in play is the Active M Differential, which distributes drive fully variably between the rear wheels as required, maximising traction and delivering the driving dynamics normally associated with a rear-wheel drive model.

These enhanced traction levels increase the car’s agility, dynamism and directional stability once again – and further improve its acceleration figures. The new BMW M2 with M xDrive therefore offers drivers the inimitable M feeling through all four seasons of the year, in almost any road conditions and in all weathers – without any trade-off in performance. The car showcases its optimised traction (which is also the product of specially developed chassis tuning) with sublime assurance in fluctuating grip conditions such as ice and snow as well as on the track. The market launch of the BMW M2 with M xDrive will begin in late summer 2026.

Superior traction and further enhanced dynamics thanks to M xDrive and Active M Differential.

The M xDrive all-wheel-drive system employs an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch in the transfer case to ensure fully variable and super-smooth division of the engine’s power between the front and rear wheels of the new BMW M2 with M xDrive. The system’s rear-wheel bias fits the familiar M blueprint. In normal driving, power is sent exclusively to the rear wheels. Only when they cannot feed any more power to the road does the all-wheel-drive system bring the front wheels into play.

M xDrive links up with the Active M Differential including M-specific traction control and DSC (Dynamic Stability Control). Together, they adapt the car’s responses precisely to the situation in order to deliver a driving experience of unsurpassed dynamism with a noticeable increase in directional stability and traction.

The transfer case features a model-specific control unit and integrated wheel slip limitation. This allows it to compensate for any differences in rotational speed between the front and rear wheels. It can do this without having to involve the central DSC management, which makes the process extremely quick and further intensifies the M-typical sense of unshakable poise in highly dynamic driving situations.

The M xDrive system’s responses can be configured via the M Setup menu. This means the driver can adapt the characteristics and performance attributes of the all-wheel drive system to both the driving situation at hand and their personal preferences. One of the options the driver can select is 2WD mode with DSC deactivated, whereby torque is sent to the rear wheels only. This unlocks a driving experience of remarkable purity.

A development with roots in racing car design: pre-chamber combustion.

The 3.0-litre straight-six engine powering the new BMW M2 with M xDrive uses BMW M Ignite technology – a new pre-chamber combustion process patented by BMW. This innovation is an example of the successful transfer of technology from racing cars to production models and will be introduced into all straight-six engines from BMW M as of mid-2026. The pre-chamber combustion process significantly reduces fuel consumption under high loads. At the same time, this new engine technology helps to meet the requirements of the EU7 standard. As before, the engine in the BMW M2 with M xDrive offers the performance characteristics for which M models are renowned, such as instantaneous response and linear power development into the higher reaches of the rev range. And this spirited power delivery is accompanied by an emotionally stirring soundtrack. The lower fuel consumption under high loads brought about by BMW M Ignite technology will be particularly appreciated by customers who like to use their car on track days, allowing them to keep lapping for longer with the same amount of fuel.

The BMW M2 with M xDrive is fitted as standard with an M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic, which ensures the engine’s power is harnessed to maximum dynamic effect. Standard-fit M light-alloy wheels (19-inch at the front axle, 20-inch at the rear) transfer the power onto the road surface. Track tyres can be specified as an option.

Optimum stopping power on road and track is provided by M Compound brakes with six-piston fixed callipers at the front and single-piston callipers at the rear.

The combination of the M xDrive all-wheel-drive system and Active M Differential gives the new BMW M2 with M xDrive further improved sprinting power. Indeed, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.7 seconds, 0.3 seconds faster than its sister model with pure rear-wheel drive. The figure recorded using the “one-foot rollout” method1 is 3.4 seconds. The BMW M2 with M xDrive reaches the 200 km/h (124 mph) mark from rest in 12.8 seconds – or 12.5 seconds with the “one-foot rollout” method. The sprint from 80 to 120 km/h (50 to 75 mph) is covered in 3.7 seconds. The M2 with M xDrive has a limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph), rising to 285 km/h (177 mph) if the optional M Driver’s Package is specified.

BMW Individual Borusan Turkish Blue is available for a BMW M2 model for the first time.

The selection of exterior colours customers can choose from includes five metallic and three solid variants, plus six options from the BMW Individual range. For example, the BMW Individual Borusan Turkish Blue special paint finish will be available for a M2 for the first time, accentuating the visually expressive exterior design of the BMW M2 with M xDrive to particularly striking effect.

The BMW M2: a successful model, built in Mexico.

The BMW M2 Coupé (fuel consumption, combined: 10.2 – 9.7 l/100 km [27.7 – 29.1 mpg imp], CO₂ emissions, combined: 230 – 221 g/km according to WLTP, CO₂ class: G)* was the biggest-selling high-performance model from BMW M GmbH in 2025. The new BMW M2 with M xDrive – like the other M2 models – will be built at BMW Group Plant San Luis Potosí in Mexico. Production will begin in August 2026. The most important sales markets for the BMW M2 with M xDrive are the USA, Germany and China.

Alexander Karajlovic, Vice President for Development at BMW M GmbH, says: “The new BMW M2 with M xDrive opens the next chapter in the story of an icon. It breaks new ground in blending the strong, uncompromising character of the BMW M2 compact high-performance sports car with the superior traction and precision of M xDrive for the first time. This fundamentally upgraded car lays down the performance generated by its straight-six engine with even greater poise and assurance, and adds maximum control, stability and acceleration in any conditions to its dynamic repertoire. Like its stablemates, the BMW M2 with M xDrive is therefore very much a driver’s car, but it also elevates its high-performance abilities to a new level and redefines sporting prowess in the compact M segment.”

CO2 EMISSIONS & CONSUMPTION.

Fuel consumption, combined: 10.4 – 10.3 l/100 km [27.2 – 27.4 mpg imp]; CO₂ emissions, combined: 235 – 233 g/km according to WLTP, CO₂ class: G

Press Contact: Laura Claesgens
Tel: +49-151-601-47299
E-mail: laura.claesgens@bmw.de

Press Release,BMW M,M2,G87,Focus_News,Top_News,Product

Outstanding agility, a significant increase in power output, supreme dynamics and particularly sporty design characteristics make driving the latest exclusive special-edition model from BMW M GmbH an enthralling experience. The new BMW M2 CS is the next chapter in an emphatic success story, which began with the iconic BMW 2002 turbo and continued with the BMW 1 Series M Coupé and the first BMW M2 – including the first CS variant, which was unveiled in 2019. BMW M GmbH offered a first glimpse of the exterior design of the BMW M2 CS on 23 May, as part of the unique Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este event on the shores of Lake Como.</pp:summary>

The new version of this special edition offers the ultimate in
driving pleasure – both as a track tool and in day-to-day use. Like
the BMW M2 Racing, which is based on the chassis from the
latest-generation M2, the BMW M2 CS will be manufactured at BMW Group
Plant San Luis Potosí in Mexico. As has become familiar with other
special-edition models from BMW M GmbH, the BMW M2 CS will be produced
in limited numbers. The key sales markets are the USA, Germany and
China. The market launch will begin in late summer 2025. The BMW M2 CS
will be priced at € 115,000 in Germany.

The new BMW M2 CS is based on the second generation of the BMW M2
(fuel consumption, combined: 9.8 l/100 km [28.8 mpg imp];
CO2 emissions, combined: 223 g/km in the WLTP cycle,
CO2 class: G) and significantly improves what is already an
extraordinary level of performance. For example, the high-revving
six-cylinder in-line engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology develops
an impressive 390 kW/530 hp in the BMW M2 CS. That is 37 kW/50 hp more
than in the current BMW M2. As such, the BMW M2 CS matches the
performance of the BMW M3 Competition Sedan with M xDrive (fuel
consumption, combined: 10.2 l/100 km [27.7 mpg imp]; CO2
emissions, combined: 230 g/km in the WLTP cycle, CO2 class:
G) and the BMW M4 Competition Coupé with M xDrive (fuel consumption,
combined: 10.1 l/100 km [28.0 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions,
combined: 229 g/km in the WLTP cycle, CO2 class: G). The
BMW M2 CS sends its power to the rear wheels via the eight-speed
M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic, which comes as standard.

Noticeable weight reduction thanks to intelligent lightweight design

BMW M GmbH has reduced the weight of the special edition by roughly
30 kilograms compared to the standard M2. This has been achieved
through modifications including judicious use of lightweight design
techniques. For example, the BMW M2 CS features a multitude of
exterior and interior components made from carbon-fibre-reinforced
plastic (CFRP). And it will be fitted as standard with forged M
light-alloy wheels. As a result, the CS will be the lightest BMW M2 so
far in the current generation.

Upgraded six-cylinder in-line engine with significant increase
in power output and torque

For the BMW M2 CS, BMW M GmbH has opted for an upgraded version of
the 3.0-litre, six-cylinder in-line engine found in the standard M2.
This intensifies the performance experience in the special edition,
particularly in highly dynamic driving situations. It further sharpens
the engine’s unmistakable power characteristics and perfectly
accentuates the linear power delivery – sustained into the higher
reaches of the rev range – familiar from M models. Compared to the BMW
M2 with standard eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with
Drivelogic, maximum torque has been raised by 50 Nm (37 lb-ft) to 650
Nm (479 lb-ft) and is available across a broad rev range – between
2,650 and 5,730 rpm. The engine produces its maximum power output of
390 kW/530 hp at 6,250 rpm, with the engine speed topping out at 7,200
rpm. In order to allow extremely rapid reactions to the driver’s
requests for acceleration and to make the improved performance
characteristics of the engine a particularly intense experience, the
accelerator mapping and response have been optimised in all the drive
modes, which are selectable via the M Setup menu.

Racing expertise delivers inspiring performance

With its improved peak performance, the new BMW M2 CS is
consolidating its claim to top spot in the compact high-performance
segment. This performance specification is achieved by modifying the
engine management and provides further proof of the outstanding
potential of the six-cylinder in-line engine developed by BMW M GmbH,
which also serves as the basis for the power unit used in the
BMW M4 GT3 EVO racing car. The engine’s M TwinPower Turbo technology
comprises a pair of mono-scroll turbochargers, which each supply three
cylinders with compressed air, an indirect intercooler supplied by a
low-temperature circuit, and an electronically controlled wastegate.
The technology package also includes High Precision Injection, which
operates with maximum pressure of 350 bar, VALVETRONIC variable valve
timing and Double-VANOS fully variable camshaft timing. The engine
also has an array of details borrowed directly from racing car design,
including its lightning-fast response, appetite for revs and
high-performance capability in track use. These details include an
extremely rigid crankcase with a sleeve-free, closed-deck
construction, a forged crankshaft with lightweight design, cylinder
bores with a wire-arc sprayed iron coating and a 3D-printed core for
the cylinder head.

The M-specific cooling system ensures the powertrain components
maintain an optimal operating temperature even under heavy loads and
the oil circuit is designed to handle extreme dynamic driving
situations. A map-controlled oil pump ensures reliable oil supply even
under extreme acceleration.

The engine sends its drive power through an eight-speed M Steptronic
transmission with Drivelogic as standard. The Drivelogic button
integrated into the selector lever makes it possible to alter the
transmission’s shift characteristics, with a choice of three clearly
distinguishable settings. Both the selector lever in the latest
M design and the gearshift paddles on the steering wheel enable
sequential interventions in the gear selection process at any time.

BMW M2 CS breaks the four-second barrier

A model-specific engine mounting with a higher spring rate makes for
a particularly rigid connection of the drive unit to the structure of
the BMW M2 CS. The extremely direct transmission of power to the
drivetrain optimises response. Thanks to the lightning-fast power
delivery, in combination with the increased engine power and the car’s
lighter weight, the BMW M2 CS is able to break the four-second barrier
for the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph). It’s time of 3.8 seconds
is 0.2 seconds faster than for the standard M2. The figure calculated
using the “1-foot rollout” method** is 3.5 seconds. The increase in
power also enhances acceleration from rest to 200 km/h (124 mph). The
time required here is reduced by 1.2 seconds to 11.7 seconds – or
11.4 seconds according to the “1‑foot rollout” method**. The mid-range
sprint from 80 to 120 km/h (50 – 75 mph) takes 3.4 seconds. The
top speed of the special-edition model, which comes with the
M Driver’s Package as standard, is electronically limited to 302 km/h
(188 mph). The dynamic power delivery is backed by an emotionally rich
engine note conjured by the M-specific exhaust system with
electrically controlled flaps and the four exhaust pipes typical of M,
which come in matt black on the BMW M2 CS. For those wishing to
retrofit their car, the M Performance silencer system with carbon and
titanium tailpipe trims developed specifically for CS models is
available for the first time in the range of M Performance Parts for
the BMW M2 CS. The lightweight valve exhaust system with titanium
mufflers generates a racing-car sound guaranteed to stir the emotions.
The Active Sound Design helps to convey the engine’s soundtrack
authentically inside the cabin, with the intensity raised another
notch when SPORT or SPORT PLUS mode is selected using the Driving
Experience Control switch.

Chassis and brakes optimised for increased performance

The chassis technology and braking system in the BMW M2 CS are
precisely tailored to the improved performance characteristics of the
engine and the specific weight balance of the special edition. The
chassis has been lowered by eight millimetres and adapted specially
for the car with bespoke tuning for its springs, dampers and chassis
control systems. These modifications improve driving dynamics
significantly in all scenarios – including under extremely hard
driving. Indeed, the settings for the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC)
and M Dynamic Mode have been optimised precisely to meet the demands
of driving on the race track. The standard adaptive M chassis has been
given a carefully adapted model-specific setup, as have the M
Servotronic steering, M Sport differential and the integrated braking
system. An M Compound braking system with red brake callipers, which
comes as standard, provides powerful retardation. An M Carbon ceramic
brake system with red brake callipers is available as an option.
Standard equipment also includes CS-exclusive forged M light-alloy
wheels with a double-spoke design and matt Gold Bronze finish. They
measure 19 inches at the front and 20 inches at the rear axle and are
fitted as standard with track tyres, the dimensions of which are
275/35 ZR19 at the front and 285/30 ZR20 at the rear. An ultra-track
tyre and a standard sport tyre (a no-cost option) in the same
dimensions are available on request.

Exterior features many carbon components and exclusive details

The punchy exterior of the BMW M2 CS is shaped by many components
made of carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) and other exclusive
details. As well as the M exterior mirror caps familiar from the BMW
M2, the M Carbon roof – which comes as standard on the special-edition
model – and CS-specific rear diffusor are also made from eye-catching
exposed carbon fibre. A front splitter in matt black and an exclusive
black BMW M kidney grille with optimised air inlets complete the
sporty and dynamic look. The lightweight CFRP boot lid with integrated
ducktail is a real head-turner. The “M2 CS” logo on the rear has a red
outline. Four colours are available for the exterior finish of the new
BMW M2 CS: Sapphire Black metallic, BMW Individual Velvet Blue
metallic, M Brooklyn Grey metallic and M Portimao Blue metallic.
Adaptive LED Headlights with BMW Selective Beam non-dazzling High Beam
Assistant and M lights Shadowline with dark inlays are also standard.

Carbon and racing flair continue inside

The interior of the new BMW M2 CS combines an exclusive look with the
sporty feel of exquisite Alcantara and innovative lightweight design.
For example, the centre console is made of carbon-fibre-reinforced
plastic (CFRP). The driver and passenger take their places in
weight-optimised, heated M Carbon bucket seats with a wide range of
electrically controlled settings and an illuminated “CS” logo. The
integrated head restraints are removable and, thanks to the option of
integrating multi-point harnesses, improve the car’s track readiness.
The surfaces of the seats are finished in Merino leather.

With a flat-bottomed rim, gearshift paddles, a red centre marker at
12 o’clock and two M buttons for selecting individually configured
vehicle setups, the standard M Alcantara steering wheel – which is
available in a heated version as an option and features a three-spoke
design – brings authentic racing flair to the cockpit. The trim
elements in the instrument panel and centre console come in M Carbon
Fibre. Additional specific details include the red “CS” logo on the
centre console, the M seatbelts and the entry door sill plates, which
are black with an “M2 CS” logo and red outline for the first time. Now
illuminated with the “CS” logo, the door trim panels certainly grab
the attention. The colour used here can be set individually, likewise
the standard ambient lighting. When switched off, a carbon structure
is visible. Rounding off the sporty interior is the M Anthracite headlining.

BMW Operating System 8.5, digital control for the climate functions

Standard equipment in the new BMW M2 CS also includes two-zone
automatic climate control, comfort access, the Harman Kardon Surround
Sound System and BMW Live Cockpit Professional, including the BMW Maps
navigation system. As well as the BMW Head-Up Display, it also
includes Augmented View on the control display. The standard
smartphone integration allows the use of Apple CarPlay® and
Android Auto™. The M-specific displays on the BMW Curved Display and
BMW Head-Up Display add to the progressive sports car flair in the
cockpit. The fully-digital display grouping consists of a 12.3-inch
information display and a 14.9-inch control display. These serve as a
platform for the BMW iDrive control and operation system, based on
BMW Operating System 8.5, which can also be used to digitally operate
the climate control functions. In the BMW M2 CS, temperature and
ventilation settings, heated seats and the heated steering wheel
(if specified) can be controlled either by touch using a special menu
option in the lower area of the control display or by voice command
with the help of the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant.

M-specific operating concept enables direct access for an
extensive range of functions

The special-edition model carries over the cutting-edge operating
concept for setup customisation from the BMW M2. At the heart is the
Setup button on the centre console. This provides direct access to the
settings options for the engine, standard adaptive M suspension,
M Servotronic steering, integrated braking system working in
conjunction with the M Compound brakes, and the M Traction Control
function, which allows drivers to set individual intervention
thresholds for wheel slip limitation. M Drive Professional makes an
ideal companion for journeys fuelled by extra adrenaline. The M mode
TRACK and the ten-stage M Traction Control allow customised handling
characteristics. The M Drift Analyser shows the angle and duration of
drifts executed by the driver, while the M Laptimer is ideal for those
striving for the perfect lap.

Semi-automated driving and parking systems fitted as standard include
front collision warning, Cruise Control with brake function, Speed
Limit Info function with no-overtaking indicator, Lane Departure
Warning, and the Parking Assistant with Reversing Assistant. Active
Cruise Control with Stop&Go function and the Driving Assistant can
be added as optional equipment.

the purist, the new BMW M2 (fuel consumption, combined: 9.8 – 9.6 l/
100 km [28.8 – 29.4 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions, combined:
223 – 218 g/km in the WLTP cycle, CO2 class: G) raises the
bar for compact high-performance sports cars in the premium segment.
Indeed, it elevates the performance experience in this vehicle class
to a whole new level. The new BMW M2 lines up with even more power,
greater visual impact than ever and innovative equipment features.
Front and centre of this fresh round of updates to the car is the
15 kW/20 hp added to its output: the high-revving six-cylinder in-line
petrol engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology now tops out at
353 kW/480 hp. And then there are the new design accents for the
exterior, an updated interior and the introduction of BMW Operating
System 8.5 to underpin the latest generation of BMW iDrive.

The package of updates for the elite compact sports car makes the
first step into the world of high-performance models at BMW M GmbH
even more attractive. The new BMW M2 takes its drive concept of a
straight-six engine, six-speed manual gearbox (optional) and classical
rear-wheel drive – a unique proposition among its rivals – to a new
stage of evolution. In combination with its compact dimensions,
chassis technology tuned perfectly for both everyday road driving and
track use, and a state-of-the-art operating concept allowing
individualisation of the car setup, this makes the new M2 ideally
equipped to write the next chapter in the BMW M brand’s history of
success in this segment.

The new BMW M2 will be built alongside the new BMW 2 Series Coupé at
BMW Group Plant San Luis Potosí in Mexico. It will be launched
worldwide with a production phase-in from August 2024. More than
40 per cent of total sales will be recorded in Europe. The most
important single market will be the USA, followed by Germany, China,
Great Britain and Japan.

Six-cylinder in-line engine with extra output and torque.

As well as the raw power itself, the inimitable way in which the
six-cylinder in-line engine delivers that power also plays a key role
in the performance experience offered by the new BMW M2. The upgraded
version of the engine for the new edition of the high-performance
sports car shines an even more vivid spotlight on the linear delivery
of power, sustained into the higher reaches of the rev range, that is
such a hallmark feature of M models. Its maximum torque is on tap
across a wide rev band between 2,650 and 6,130 rpm. In examples of the
new BMW M2 with the optional six-speed manual gearbox (fuel
consumption, combined: 10.2 – 10.0 l/ 100 km [27.7 – 28.2 mpg imp];
CO2 emissions, combined: 231 – 226 g/km in the WLTP cycle,
CO2 class: G), peak torque remains 550 Nm (405 lb-ft). And
when power is channelled via the standard eight-speed M Steptronic
transmission with Drivelogic, the figure rises to 600 Nm (442 lb-ft).
The engine produces its increased maximum output of 353 kW/480 hp at
6,250 rpm, with revs topping out at 7,200 rpm.

So that drivers can explore the engine’s upgraded performance
characteristics with an even greater degree of intensity, further
advances have been made with the accelerator mapping and response in
all the drive modes selectable via the M Setup menu. As a result, the
new BMW M2 offers noticeably more rapid reactions to the driver’s
requests for acceleration – both when specified with the eight-speed M
Steptronic transmission and with the optional six-speed manual gearbox.

The ability of the new BMW M2 to offer further improved power
delivery is rooted in an exceptionally strong technological base. Its
3.0-litre engine differs from the unit in the BMW M3/BMW M4 range in a
few details only. The increased peak output figure of the new BMW M2
lends further weight to its leadership claims in the compact
high-performance car segment. In addition, it now achieves parity with
the manual variants of the new BMW M3 Sedan (fuel consumption,
combined: 10.1 – 10.0 l/ 100 km [28.0 – 28.3 mpg imp]; CO2
emissions, combined: 230 – 227 g/km in the WLTP cycle, CO2
class: G) and new BMW M4 Coupé (fuel consumption, combined: 10.1 –
10.0 l/100 km [28.0 – 28.3 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions,
combined: 230 – 226 g/km in the WLTP cycle, CO2 class: G).

Racing expertise delivers smile-inducing performance.

As well as its pair of mono-scroll turbochargers, an indirect
intercooler and an electronically controlled wastegate, the M
TwinPower Turbo technology of the straight-six engine also includes
High Precision Injection, VALVETRONIC variable valve timing and
Double-VANOS fully variable camshaft timing. The engine also has an
array of details borrowed directly from racing car design and whose
impact is most clearly evident in its lightning-fast response,
appetite for revs and high performance capability in track use. These
details include an extremely rigid crankcase with a sleeve-free,
closed-deck construction, a forged crankshaft with lightweight design,
cylinder bores with a wire-arc sprayed iron coating and a 3D-printed
core for the cylinder head.

The M-specific cooling system ensures the powertrain components
maintain an optimal operating temperature even under heavy loads. The
oil circuit is also designed to handle extremely dynamic driving
situations. A map-controlled oil pump ensures reliable oil supply even
under extreme longitudinal and lateral acceleration.

Drivers keen to blend an intensely engaging performance experience
with even more direct interaction with the powertrain can specify the
six-speed manual gearbox as an option. This links up with the Gear
Shift Assistant, which uses engagement speed control to ensure
slip-free operation when downshifting under braking into corners.

Whichever form of power transfer the customer chooses for their
BMW M2, the increased engine output shaves 0.1 seconds off its 0 to
100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration time: the new BMW M2 records a figure
of 4.0 seconds with the standard transmission or 4.2 seconds if
specified with the optional six-speed manual gearbox. The increase in
power also makes its presence felt over the 0 to 200 km/h (124 mph)
sprint, delivering an improvement of 0.6 seconds in the case of the
BMW M2 with eight-speed M Steptronic transmission (now 12.9 seconds)
and also lowering the time posted by cars with the optional manual
gearbox by 0.6 seconds (to 13.7 seconds). Top speed is 250 km/h (155
mph), but can be increased to 285 km/h (177 mph) with the optional M
Driver’s Package. The dynamic power delivery is backed by an
emotionally rich engine note conjured by the M-specific exhaust system
with electrically controlled flaps.

Visually impactful exterior design with fresh accents.

Powerfully chiselled surfaces and athletic proportions mark out the
pure-bred performance character of the new BMW M2, whose compact
dimensions and wide tracks showcase it to visually dramatic effect.
M-specific design features geared to the functional requirements
of cooling air routing and aerodynamic balance accentuate the
eye-catching appearance of the two-door car. A large, horizontal
BMW kidney grille and the three-section split lower air intake
optimise cooling of the powertrain components and brakes.

The model-specific LED headlights are positioned towards the outer
edges of the front end. In a tribute to the iconic BMW 02 models, they
each have a single circular headlight that generates both low beam and
high beam. U-shaped light guides at the lower edge of the headlights
serve as both the daytime driving lights and turn indicators.
Available as options are Adaptive LED Headlights with BMW Selective
Beam non-dazzling High Beam Assistant and M lights Shadowline with
dark inlays.

The high-performance model’s profile is shaped by the elegant lines
which have become a signature feature of the brand’s coupés. In
combination with prominent side sill extensions and muscular wheel
arches, this creates a compact two-door form with a richly sporting
character. The new BMW M2 can also be ordered as an option with an
M Carbon roof that not only reduces the car’s weight by around six
kilograms, but also increases agility by lowering its centre of gravity.

The rear apron of the new BMW M2 features a powerfully sculpted
race-car-style diffuser. The exhaust system feeds into two pairs of
exhaust tailpipes, which are positioned a significant distance from
the edges of the rear end and also channel the racing genes of the M2
visually. The trims for the twin tailpipes are now finished in black
as standard. The likewise black model lettering on the boot lid and
radiator grille creates a particularly classy impression with its
silver-coloured bordering.

Significantly expanded range of exterior paint finishes;
light-alloy wheels with a new design.

Customers can order their new BMW M2 in a choice of three solid
colours, five metallic shades and six BMW Individual paint finishes.
The significantly expanded range includes the new Sao Paulo Yellow
solid, Fire Red metallic, Portimao Blue metallic and Skyscraper Grey
metallic variants. Plus, the selection of BMW Individual paint
finishes for the new BMW M2 now also features Java Green, Voodoo Blue,
Grigio Telesto and Twilight Purple.

The new BMW M2 is fitted as standard with M light-alloy wheels in
double-spoke design and with a Jet Black finish. Dimensions are
19 inches at the front axle and 20 inches at the rear axle. A new
addition to the options list are M light-alloy wheels in double-spoke
design and with the same dimensions, but finished in the colour
Silver. They can be combined with track tyres if the optional M Race
Track package is specified.

New steering wheels and seat surfaces, M Carbon bucket seats
now also available as an individual option.

The most important interface between the driver and car – the
steering wheel – has been newly designed, bringing a fresh look to the
interior of the compact high-performance model. The standard-fitted
M leather steering wheel of the new BMW M2 now has a flat-bottomed rim
and precisely modified spokes. A red centre marker in the 12 o’clock
position, gearshift paddles and the two M buttons for selecting
individually configured vehicle setups project an intense racing car
feel. An M Alcantara steering wheel is now also available as an option
in the same design. A heating function is offered as an option for
both steering wheel variants.

The optional M Sport seats in Vernasca leather can now also be
ordered in a red/black bi-colour variant. Added to which, the
weight-minimized M Carbon bucket seats for the new BMW M2 are not only
available in conjunction with the M Race Track package, but now also
as an individual option. With surfaces in Merino leather, multi-way
electric adjustment, removable head restraints and a facility for
adding a multi-point harness, they optimise both the car’s comfort
levels and its racing credentials.

BMW Operating System 8.5, digital control for the climate functions.

The M-specific content in the BMW Curved Display and optional BMW
Head-Up Display enhances the cockpit’s progressive sports car aura.
The fully digital screen grouping, made up of a 12.3-inch information
display and a 14.9-inch control display, now provides the stage for
the latest evolution of the BMW iDrive control/operation system based
on BMW Operating System 8.5. The functions of the climate control
system are now also operated digitally. The temperature and
ventilation settings as well as the seat heating and – if specified –
steering wheel heating in the new BMW M2 can be controlled either by
touch using a special menu option in the lower area of the control
display or by voice command with the help of the BMW Intelligent
Personal Assistant.

This broad adoption of digitalisation leads to a further reduction in
the number of buttons and controls in the cockpit and is accompanied
by a redesign of the instrument panel. New adjustment controls for the
air vent grilles in the centre of the instrument panel and on the
driver’s and front passenger side of the cockpit allow the airflow
direction to be adjusted using rotating and tilting movements.

The interior trim elements in the instrument panel and centre console
of the new BMW M2 come as standard in Dark Graphite matt. Interior
trim elements in Aluminium Rhombicle Anthracite, M Carbon Fibre or new
Fine Brushed Aluminium are available as an option.

M-specific operating concept, extensive standard equipment.

At the heart of the M-specific operating concept is the Setup button
on the centre console. This provides direct access to the settings
options for the engine, the standard adaptive M suspension, the
M Servotronic steering, the integrated braking system working in
conjunction with the M Compound brakes, and the M Traction Control
function, which allows drivers to set individual intervention
thresholds for wheel slip limitation. The Gear Shift Assistant of the
optional manual gearbox is also activated and deactivated via the
M Setup menu.

Standard equipment for the new BMW M2 also includes three-zone
automatic climate control, ambient lighting, a HiFi speaker system, a
wireless charging tray and the BMW Live Cockpit Plus with BMW Maps
navigation system. The likewise standard smartphone integration
enables use of Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™. Semi-automated
driving and parking systems that come as standard include front
collision warning, Cruise Control with brake function, Speed Limit
Info function with no-overtaking indicator, Lane Departure Warning and
Park Distance Control with sensors at the front and rear of the car.
Among the optional items available are the Driving Assistant, Active
Cruise Control with Stop&Go function and the Parking Assistant
with Reversing Assistant.

Also on the options list are Comfort Access, an electrically operated
slide/tilt sunroof and the Harman Kardon Surround Sound System. As
well as the BMW Head-Up Display, the optional BMW Live Cockpit
Professional in the new BMW M2 now also includes Augmented View on the
control display.

CO2 EMISSIONS & CONSUMPTION.

Munich. With a brace of victories in the “Best Cars”
competition, BMW has backed up its successful end to 2023 with a
similarly fruitful beginning to 2024. The BMW 2 Series Coupé wrapped
up class victory in the compact segment for the third time in
succession, while the BMW X1 led the way in the “compact SUV”
category. The “Best Cars” award – voted on by readers of German
motoring magazine “auto, motor und sport” and in its 48th edition this
year – is one of the most prestigious in the European automotive
industry. Almost 100,000 respondents took part in the survey,
selecting one overall winner and one “imported car” champion from a
field of 455 models across 13 vehicle categories.

The start of 2024 was also marked by class victory for the new BMW 5
Series Sedan in the “Large Car” category of the “Women's Worldwide Car
of the Year” award. 75 female automotive journalists from 52 countries
picked out their favourites from a total of 62 vehicles in five
categories. Intended to showcase the influence of women in the
automotive industry and presented for the 14th time this year, this
prize takes into account factors such as safety, quality, price,
design, ride comfort, everyday usability and environmental impact. The
new BMW 5 Series Sedan won over the jury members with its electrified
drive system line-up (including the fully electric BMW i5), as well as
its spaciousness, advanced technology and now fully vegan interior.

This successful beginning to the year saw BMW building on its run of
success in a large number of awards in 2023. Models from the premium
brand’s current range claimed numerous prizes in both its home market
of Germany and its most important sales regions internationally. The
winners stretched across all the relevant categories, with compact
models, luxury vehicles and high-performance sports cars from BMW M
GmbH all making waves. As well as vehicles powered by combustion
engines, the readers and juries also recognised a strikingly high
number of representatives from BMW’s constantly expanding electric
mobility range.

“We’re very proud that our various BMW vehicles have won awards in so
many national and international competitions. This also shows that we
have attractive models in all segments that excite people,” says
Jochen Goller, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG, Customer,
Brands, Sales. “The response to our models with all-electric drive
systems is particularly pleasing. This ties in with the strong demand
from customers and supports the BMW Group’s commitment to ramping up
electric mobility in all areas.”

Newcomer to the ranks of high-performance models and a fully
electric Sports Activity Vehicle both win a “Golden Steering Wheel”.

The “Golden Steering Wheel” presented by German publications “Auto
Bild” and “Bild am Sonntag” is one of the most prestigious
distinctions in the European car industry. BMW took two of these
coveted trophies back to Munich in 2023. The BMW M3 Competition
Touring with M xDrive (fuel consumption, combined: 10.4 –
10.1 l/100 km [27.2 – 28.0 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions,
combined: 235 – 229 g/km in the WLTP cycle) ranked first in the
“sports cars” category and the fully electric BMW iX1 topped the
“compact class”.

Both models added a string of other international awards to their
collections over the course of 2023. For example, the first ever
BMW M3 Touring – which combines the dynamic prowess of a
high-performance car with impressive levels of practicality – was
elected sports car of the year in the category for vehicles costing up
to 120,000 euros by readers of “Auto Bild Sportscars” magazine. And
acclaimed British TV programme “Top Gear” honoured the BMW M GmbH
newcomer with the title “All The Car You'll Ever Need” in its “Car of
the Year” awards.

The BMW iX1 collected a trio of awards in China, including
“All-Electric Premium SUV of the Year”. It also won the French
“Automobile Award 2023” in the “Green Tech” category and the “autonis
Award” bestowed by readers of “auto, motor und sport” to the year’s
most attractive new design.

Fully electric BMW i5 enjoys immediate success around the world.

The new BMW 5 Series Sedan and BMW i5 also claimed an “autonis”
prize. Now also available with a fully electric drive system for the
first time, the new edition of the world’s most successful business
sedan was also named “Car of the Year” by Portuguese magazine
“Frontline”. The BMW i5 was also presented with equivalent awards in
Norway and Denmark, both particularly important markets for electric
vehicles. Norwegian daily “Dagbladet” teamed up with online portals
“DinSide” and “Elbi24” to celebrate the BMW i5. While in Denmark, the
i5 fought off competition from six other models to gain the most votes
for “Car of the Year” in a final round made up exclusively of fully
electric models. The jury of 20 Danish motoring journalists chose the
BMW i5 as their winner by a large margin.

Chinese publication “Auto World” crowned the BMW i5 as “Most
Anticipated Premium Executive Sedan of the Year”, and the fully
electric business sedan also collected three awards in Great Britain:
“The Car Expert” put the BMW i5 in top spot in its “Best Large Car
Award”, it was named “Premium Car of the Year” in the “2024
Electrifying.com Awards” and the “Comfortable Cruiser” topped its
class in Carwow’s “Car of the Year Awards 2024”.

The awards underscore the ability of the new BMW i5 Sedan to win
people over with numerous different qualities: from character-rich
design, a unique balance between sportiness and comfort, innovative
equipment features and progressive digital services to a drive system
whose power is matched by its capability over long distances. And it
also uses latest-generation BMW eDrive technology to transfer the
brand’s signature dynamic ability to the road with zero local
emissions. In addition, adaptive recuperation and an intelligent
combination of heat pump technology for heating and cooling the
interior, drive system and high-voltage battery help to give the BMW
i5 eDrive40 Sedan (electric power consumption, combined:
18.9 – 15.9 kWh/ 100 km in the WLTP cycle) a range of 498 –
582 kilometres (309 – 362 miles) in the WLTP cycle.

BMW’s electric mobility offensive is recognised with awards.

The BMW brand’s fully electric model line-up as a whole enjoyed a
successful year worldwide in 2023. As well as the BMW iX1 and BMW i5,
this was particularly true of the BMW i7 and BMW i4. In Great Britain
alone, these two models were both among the winners in seven awards.
Both won the “Auto Express New Car Award” in their respective vehicle
classes. The BMW i4 also claimed the “Pocket-lint Award” and “Business
Car Award”, and the BMW i7 celebrated success in both the “What Car?
Electric Car Awards” and the “What Car? Car of the Year Awards”. The
fully electric luxury sedan racked up five prizes in China, too,
including the “Car of the Year” distinction from leading online
magazine “sohu.com”.

There was also much to celebrate in France and the USA, where the BMW
i7 was given the “Best Overall and Best Value” rating from “Money”
magazine and praised by “wards auto” magazine for its standout luxury
ambience and digital user experience with BMW Theatre Screen in the
rear compartment. Renowned US magazine “car and driver” named both the
BMW i4 M50 (electric power consumption, combined: 22.5 – 18.0 kWh/
100 km in the WLTP cycle) and BMW i4 eDrive40 M50 (electric power
consumption, combined: 19.1 – 16.1 kWh/ 100 km in the WLTP cycle)
among the “Best 10” of 2023.

Top marks and distinctions for the BMW 3 Series and BMW 4
Series ranges, the BMW M2 and the BMW X3.

BMW set the seal on a successful year in Germany with a two-pronged
triumph. The BMW 3 Series and BMW X3 closed out 2023 with class
victory in the coveted “Auto Trophy”. The BMW 3 Series Sedan and BMW 3
Series Touring, for example, took clear victories in the hotly
contested midsize segment of the readers’ survey conducted by German
title “Auto Zeitung”, racking up 19.0 per cent of the vote. This was
the seventh class win in a row for the 3 Series. Meanwhile, the rugged
aura, interior spaciousness and commitment to electrification of the
BMW X3 helped it account for 15.3 per cent of the votes cast and
therefore the highest points total in the high-volume vehicle segment
of “SUVs costing 30,000 – 60,000 euros”.

The BMW 3 Series was a particularly prolific award-winner in Great
Britain. In the “Business Car Awards”, the 3 Series won the “Best
Premium Car” prize, and it also gained entry to the “Hall of Fame” of
“Fleet News” magazine as the “Most Reliable Company Car”. The BMW 3
Series won twice in the “What Car? Used Car Awards”, topping both the
“Used Executive Car” category and overall “Used Car of the Year”. And
then there was the “Best Used Hybrid Executive Car” distinction for
the BMW 330e Sedan (fuel consumption, combined: 1.9 – 1.4 l/100 km
[148.7 – 201.8 mpg imp]; electric power consumption, combined 20.1 –
18.1 kWh/100 km; CO2 emissions, combined: 43 – 32 g/km in
the WLTP cycle). The plug-in hybrid model also tasted success in the
USA, where “Money” magazine described it as “Best for Handling”.

Adding to the wave of success enjoyed by the BMW 3 Series, the BMW 4
Series – with its standout sporting appeal – also enriched the brand’s
glittering international reputation in the premium midsize segment.
The best example of this came in the BMW 4 Series Coupé and BMW 4
Series Convertible’s showing in the “What Car? Car of the Year Awards”
in Great Britain. The closed-roof two-door won the “Coupe of the Year”
for the third year in succession in 2023. And this year its open-top
sister model also won the “Convertible of the Year” award.

Two other British awards were claimed by the BMW M2. It was voted
“Best Performance Car” in “The Car Expert Awards”, and the compact
high-performance sports car also took the title of “Performance Car of
the Year” in the “Auto Express New Car Awards”.

Technology adapted directly from motorsport enhances the dynamic driving experience and individual appearance.</pp:summary>

Munich. The retrofit products from the BMW M
Performance Parts program not only enhance numerous current BMW models
but also provide an additional touch of motorsport feeling to the
high-performance sports cars of the BMW M GmbH. Among the particularly
notable examples of technology transferred directly from the racetrack
to the road are the centrelock wheels, available for selected
high-performance automobiles. Design and functionality make these
lightweight forged wheels absolute highlights in the diverse range of
BMW M Performance Parts.

With their optimized weight, emotionally charged design, and
technology adapted from motorsport connecting to the wheel bearing,
the centrelock wheels emphasize the high-performance-oriented
character of the vehicles equipped with them. In the case of the
special edition BMW 3.0 CSL, presented on the occasion of the 50th
anniversary of BMW M GmbH and sold in a limited edition of 50 units,
they are part of the specifically tuned racetrack performance chassis
technology. Currently, BMW M Performance centrelock wheels are offered
in the Original BMW Accessories program for the BMW M2 (combined fuel
consumption: 9.9 – 9.6 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 223 – 218
g/km according to WLTP), the BMW M3 Touring Competition with M xDrive
(combined fuel consumption: 10.4 – 10.1 l/100 km; combined CO2
emissions: 235 – 229 g/km according to WLTP), as well as for all model
variants of the BMW M3 Sedan, BMW M4 Coupe, and BMW M4 Convertible.

BMW M Performance centrelock wheel: Wheel change like the pros.

Centrelock wheels were developed for motorsport, where they enable
particularly fast wheel changes and, consequently, short pit stops.
Instead of the usual five screws, each wheel is attached to the wheel
hub with only one central screw. An extremely solid connection is
ensured during the installation of the central locks by applying a
torque of 930 Nm. This technology not only makes pure racetrack DNA
tangible during wheel changes but also reduces rotating masses and
optimizes the exclusive appearance through a distinctive design in the
hub area.

The M Performance centrelock wheels for the models of the BMW M2, BMW
M3, and BMW M4 are offered as a combined set in sizes 19 inches for
the front axle and 20 inches for the rear axle. The lightweight forged
wheels in Y-spoke design, in Jet Black matte color, feature a milled M
Performance lettering and come equipped with tires in dimensions
275/35 ZR19 for the front and 285/30 ZR20 for the rear.

Individual motorsport characteristics for exterior and
interior.

Like the centrelock wheels, other products from the BMW M Performance
Parts program are based on the development know-how and more than five
decades of motorsport experience of the BMW M GmbH. The diverse range
includes retrofit options in the areas of suspension, drivetrain,
aerodynamics, and cockpit, enabling a performance-oriented
customization and providing a racetrack feeling in everyday traffic.
For a targeted boost in dynamics and agility, options such as the M
Performance suspension with height-adjustable spring perches and the M
Performance sport brake system are available.

Additionally, the athletic appearance of a BMW M car can be enhanced
with model-specific carbon components. The BMW M Performance Parts for
the exterior are mostly made of carbon fiber-reinforced plastic
(CFRP), sealed with clear lacquer for a high-quality finish.
Model-specific options such as the M Performance front attachment
carbon, the M Performance rear diffuser, or the M Performance side
sill insert carbon give the vehicle a characterful appearance in a racing-style.

The uncompromising quality and special aesthetics of the BMW M
Performance Parts are also experienced in the interior. High-quality
carbon and Alcantara elements convey the motorsport genes of BMW M
into the cockpit. M Performance knee pads with Alcantara surface
provide optimized grip during particularly dynamic cornering. And both
the M Performance steering wheel Pro and the M Performance armrest
Alcantara offer perfect conditions for an especially intense driving experience.

Munich. New model variants and innovations in the
areas of electrification and digitalisation are set to further
increase the appeal and diversity of the BMW product range from summer
2023. At the pinnacle of the model portfolio, the arrival of a third
variant of the all-electric BMW i7 expands the brand’s offering in the
luxury segment. At the same time, the Multi-Contract Plug & Charge
and MAX RANGE functions will now be available for all BMW i7 and
BMW iX model variants, making electric mobility even more convenient.
And from August 2023, customers will have the choice of a second,
extremely powerful six-cylinder in-line diesel engine for the new
BMW X5 and BMW X6.

The highlight as far as digitalisation is concerned is the
introduction of the upgraded BMW iDrive featuring QuickSelect and BMW
Operating System 8.5 for a large number of current models. The
capabilities of the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant will also be
enhanced once again for these models in summer 2023. The new exterior
colours and upholstery variants for several of the current models will
offer additional scope for customisation. Meanwhile, the M Sport
package Pro will be added to the choice of optional extras for the BMW
X1 and BMW iX1.

BMW i7 eDrive50: an extra boost for electric mobility in the
luxury segment.

It has taken just a few months for the all-electric BMW i7 to
establish itself as the epitome of progressive drive technology in the
luxury segment worldwide. From July 2023, the new BMW i7 eDrive50
(electric power consumption combined: 20.3 – 19.1 kWh/100 km in the
WLTP cycle) will offer customers another way to enjoy supreme
long-distance comfort combined with trailblazing innovations and
emission-free driving pleasure. The third model variant in the BMW i7
line-up comes with the latest BMW eDrive technology in the form of a
highly integrated electric drive unit delivering maximum output of
335 kW/455 hp and peak torque of 650 Nm (479 lb-ft).

This enables the new BMW i7 eDrive50 to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h
(62 mph) in 5.5 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 205
km/h (127 mph). Thanks to its highly efficient electric motor and the
outstanding energy density of its high-voltage battery, the new
BMW i7 eDrive50 achieves a WLTP-calculated range of 575 –
611 kilometres (357 – 380 miles).

Multi-Contract Plug & Charge and MAX RANGE: new functions
for making electric mobility even more convenient.

To coincide with the ongoing expansion of the all-electric model
line-up, new functions are being made available for all BMW i7 and BMW
iX variants in summer 2023 that will make enjoying locally
emission-free driving pleasure even easier and more convenient. The
Multi-Contract Plug & Charge function will be added to the BMW
Charging portfolio, enabling automatic vehicle authentication at
public charging points. The exchange of data between vehicle and
charging point does away with the need for a charging card or app. As
the amount of electricity fed into the high-voltage battery is also
billed automatically, Plug & Charge makes recharging even more
straightforward than refuelling conventionally powered vehicles. The
BMW Group is the first carmaker in the world to incorporate
multi-contract functionality into this new feature. Customers are able
to store their individual vehicle electricity contracts from multiple
suppliers in digital form in their car, allowing them to use the
charging points of these operators with the greatest of ease. The new
Multi-Contract Plug & Charge function can be made available via
Remote Software Upgrade for all BMW i7 models manufactured since July
2022 and all BMW iX models built since March 2023.

The MAX RANGE function for the electric drive system in the BMW i7
and BMW iX is also new and gives drivers greater flexibility when
looking for a public charging station. It is operational in the My
Mode Efficient and can be used to increase range by up to 25 per cent
by both limiting drive power and top speed and scaling back comfort
functions. The MAX RANGE function was mainly devised for situations
where drivers are unable to recharge mid-journey as originally planned
because, for example, the charging station they were heading for is
out of service. Activating the MAX RANGE function extends the range by
a comfortable margin for the journey to an alternative charging point
for the high-voltage battery. This is achieved by, among other things,
limiting the vehicle’s top speed to 90 km/h (56 mph) at the same time
as disabling features such as the climate control, seat heating and
steering wheel heating. The new MAX RANGE function can be made
available via Remote Software Upgrade for all BMW i7 models
manufactured since July 2022 and all BMW iX models built since March 2023.

The high-voltage battery in the BMW iX can now also be charged more
efficiently thanks to the same upgraded charging software already used
in the BMW i7. Here, careful control of the charging rate results in
shorter charging times. The new charging software can also be imported
into all BMW iX models manufactured since March 2023 via Remote
Software Upgrade.

In addition to this, the various digital services offered for
charging the high-voltage battery will be enhanced for all electrified
BMW models in summer 2023. When searching for charging points in the
navigation system, for instance, the entries for several stations
within a single charging park will now be combined. In the future, the
charging history will also show the total costs for a month and allow
charging operations to be filtered by location.

The BMW Maps navigation system will also offer improved functions for
calculating a charging-optimised route in the all-electric BMW i7, BMW
iX, BMW i4 and BMW iX1 models. The driver’s preferred minimum charge
level for when the vehicle reaches mid-journey stops and the final
destination can now be adjusted in increments of five per cent and
incorporated into the route planning. In the future, the system will
also be able to give preference to charging stations operated by
selected providers and exclude others from the route planning at the
customer’s request. In addition, the user is given even more detailed
information on their selected charging stations, including
availability at that moment in time, the connector types supported and
payment options, plus the presence of sanitary facilities, food
outlets or playgrounds in their vicinity. The new charging-optimised
route planning functions can also be retrofitted via Remote Software Upgrade.

Highly efficient and big on torque: the new six-cylinder
in-line diesel engine with 48V mild hybrid technology for the BMW X5
and BMW X6.

A second six-cylinder in-line diesel engine will be added to the
line-up of drive systems for the BMW X5 and BMW X6 in August 2023. The
unit in the new BMW X5 xDrive40d (fuel consumption, combined:
8.4 – 7.3 litres/100 km [33.6 – 38.7 mpg imp]; CO2
emissions, combined: 221 – 190 g/km in the WLTP cycle) and new
BMW X6 xDrive40d (fuel consumption, combined: 8.2 – 7.3 litres/100 km
[34.5 – 38.7 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions, combined:
214 – 191 g/km in the WLTP cycle) is the most powerful diesel variant
in the new modular generation of Efficient Dynamics engines.

New steel pistons enable a higher combustion pressure, and the
effectiveness of the oil separation process has also been enhanced.
The BMW TwinPower Turbo technology comprises a two-stage turbocharging
system and a common-rail direct injection system with new solenoid
valve injectors. These send the fuel into the combustion chambers with
up to 12 injections per power stroke and maximum pressure of 2,500
bar. 48V mild hybrid technology in the form of a crankshaft-driven
starter generator integrated into the eight-speed Steptronic Sport
transmission gives the 3.0-litre engine even sharper power delivery
and increases its efficiency.

The drive system generates maximum output of 259 kW/352 hp and peak
torque of 720 Nm (531 lb-ft). The impressive pulling power of the new
six-cylinder in-line diesel engine, the eight-speed Steptronic Sport
transmission and the intelligent all-wheel-drive system join forces to
produce potent sprinting ability. The new BMW X5 xDrive40d and new
BMW X6 xDrive40d both accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.5 seconds.

BMW iDrive with QuickSelect for further BMW models.

The upgraded BMW iDrive with QuickSelect is being rolled out with BMW
Operating System 8.5 across additional models*. The latest generation
of BMW iDrive brings a newly designed home screen and QuickSelect
functionality to make selecting and operating numerous functions and
digital services even more intuitive and comfortable. This also brings
an improved menu structure that takes its cues from consumer
electronics devices plus a range of new digital services and apps.

*Ex factory: BMW 7 Series, BMW iX, BMW i4 from production 07/23;
BMW X5, BMW X6, BMW X7. BMW XM, BMW X5 M, BMW X6 M from production

By showing the right information in the right place, the new BMW
iDrive helps to deliver a focused, assured driving experience. BMW
iDrive with QuickSelect also teams up with the BMW Curved Display and
BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, and so focuses squarely on
operation using the touchscreen and natural language.

BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant with additional skills.

In all BMW models that are equipped with BMW Operating System 8.5 or
can be upgraded with the system*, the BMW Intelligent Personal
Assistant will gain additional skills from summer 2023. Depending on
the vehicle specification and the driving situation, the digital
companion will be able to suggest deactivating the speed limiting
function, switching to Sport mode or activating the Assisted Driving
Modes. Naturally formulated spoken instructions can also be used to
adjust the seat position. In fully electric models with the relevant
specification, the MAX RANGE function can be activated and the BMW
IconicSounds Electric controlled with just a single spoken command.

Added to which, the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant will now be
able to proactively explain previously unused functions to the driver,
including storing favourite radio stations and using spoken commands
to adjust the air conditioning or the brightness of the BMW Curved
Display. The graphic depicting the digital companion during exchanges
with the car’s occupants now gains ten additional transformation symbols.

M Sport package Pro now also available for the new BMW X1 and
new BMW iX1.

From July 2023, the range of optional equipment available for the new
BMW X1 and new BMW iX1 will now include a model-specific M Sport
package Pro. This option will be offered as an extension of the M
Sport package and helps to shine an even brighter spotlight on the
dynamic character of the compact Sports Activity Vehicle.

This new option includes extended M High-gloss Shadowline trim, the
M rear spoiler, the M Sport braking system with red or – if desired –
dark blue callipers, plus M seat belts. Specifying the optional
Adaptive LED Headlights also brings M lights Shadowline.

New for the BMW X1, BMW iX1 and BMW 2 Series Active Tourer:
seat surfaces in Veganza perforated.

New upholstery variants available from July 2023 will underscore the
premium character inside the new BMW X1, new BMW iX1 and new BMW 2
Series Active Tourer. Seat surfaces in Veganza perforated trim can be
ordered as an option for these models.

This vegan surface material with leather-like properties can be
specified in Black, Mocha or Oyster. The M Alcantara/Veganza
combination in Black with blue contrast stitching is also available
for cars with the M Sport package.

New exterior colours for the BMW 3 Series Sedan, BMW 2 Series
Coupé and BMW M2.

The introduction of new exterior colours for current BMW models gives
customers additional scope for individualising the exterior of their
car. The BMW Individual paint finishes Frozen Pure Grey metallic and
Frozen Portimao Blue metallic will be available for the BMW 3
Series Sedan, BMW 2 Series Coupé and high-performance BMW M2 (fuel
consumption, combined: 9.8 – 9.6 litres/100 km [28.8 – 29.4 mpg imp];
CO2 emissions, combined: 222 – 218 g/km in the WLTP cycle)
from July 2023.

The Grande Prémio de Portugal from 24th to 26th March at
Portimão marks the start of an anniversary season for BMW M, the 25th
season as Official Car of MotoGP™. The close partnership with MotoGP™
rights holder Dorna Sports dates back to 1999. The start of the
anniversary season in Portugal will see the new BMW M safety car make
its debut. The new BMW M2 MotoGP™ safety car is based on the new BMW
M2 (combined fuel consumption in accordance with WLTP: 9.8 – 9.6 l/100
km; combined CO2 emissions in accordance with WLTP: 222 –
218 g/km; details as per NEFZ: –)*, which made its world premiere in October.

“We are delighted to be joining BMW M in celebrating the 25th
anniversary season of our partnership in 2023,” said Carmelo Ezpeleta,
CEO of Dorna Sports. “In BMW M we have had a strong partner at our
side for a quarter of a century; a partner with whom we have enjoyed
superb collaboration in many different areas. We are very proud of
this long-standing partnership that is never at a standstill, it gives
plenty of fresh momentum each year. With the most innovative
technologies, BMW M is taking care of safety in our sport for the 25th
year now, and is a firm fixture in the MotoGP paddock with a wide
range of activities. Here’s to a fantastic anniversary season in 2023!”

“2023 is our 25th season as Official Car of MotoGP – a long-standing,
close partnership like this is special in international racing,” added
Franciscus van Meel, CEO of BMW M GmbH. “We would like to thank Dorna
Sports for the great trust they have placed in us for a quarter of a
century now. Since 1999 we have been striving to incorporate our
values such as innovation, technology, emotion, and passion into our
partnership with Dorna Sports as well. Our new BMW M2 MotoGP safety
car is just one example of this. With it we are continuing our
tradition of putting the latest BMW M high-performance automobiles at
the service of MotoGP safety. Be it the safety car fleet, the BMW M
Award, or our many other activities in the top level of motorcycle
racing – we are proud that Fascination M has become an important part
of the MotoGP.”

The new BMW M2 impresses with the traditional characteristics of a
high-performance sports car – in a concentrated form and with
state-of-the-art technology. With its compact dimensions and the 460
hp TwinPower turbo in-line 6-cylinder engine, the new BMW M2 is the
perfect basis for a BMW M safety car. The BMW M2 was kitted out with
various safety car elements for its deployment on MotoGP™ racetracks.
These elements include a roll bar, RECARO seats, 6-point racing
harness, a fire extinguisher, the safety car roof bar, and the
matching front light. Several M Performance parts, such as exhaust
system, chassis, carbon wing mirror covers, diffusor, and rear wing
have also been installed. The BMW M2 MotoGP™ safety car will have the
standard BMW M safety car livery. In addition to the new BMW M2
MotoGP™ safety car, the safety car fleet of 2023 also includes many
other BMW M safety, medical and official cars, as well as BMW M 1000
RR safety bikes.

BMW M GmbH closes anniversary year with new sales record.

Munich. At the end of its anniversary year, BMW M
GmbH has once again achieved record results. Global sales of
performance and high-performance cars rose to 177,257 vehicles during
the 2022 financial year. This represents an increase of 8.4 per cent
compared to the previous year, despite the continuing challenging
conditions in the area of logistics and supply chains. The most
important single market in 2022 was again the USA, with the second
most important sales region again being the German domestic market,
followed by the UK.

“The enthusiasm of the M community for emotionally powerful
performance on the road and on the racetrack has carried us through
the entire anniversary year,” says Franciscus van Meel, Chairman of
the Board of Management of BMW M GmbH. “This is also expressed in a
new sales record for BMW M automobiles, which gives us a positive
outlook for 2023.”

BMW i4 M50: the best-selling BMW M automobile drives locally
emission-free.
At the same time, 2022 marks BMW M
GmbH's successful start into the age of electric mobility. “The
best-selling BMW M automobile of 2022 is the all-electric BMW i4 M50,”
says Timo Resch, Head of Customer, Brand and Sales at BMW M GmbH. “For
us, this is a clear signal that the unique M feeling has arrived in
the world of electrified vehicles.” The BMW i4 M50 is powered by an
electric motor on both the front and rear axles, which together
generate a maximum output of 400 kW/544 hp. The perfectly coordinated
power delivery of the two e-motors and independent suspension tuning
ensure an M-typical driving experience characterised by dynamics,
agility and precision, which proved to be a real crowd-puller right
from the outset.

With the BMW iX M60*, a second all-electric performance car from BMW
M GmbH made a highly successful debut. During the course of 2023, BMW
M GmbH will continue its product offensive with, among other things,
the first electrified high-performance automobile, the BMW XM, and the
BMW i7 M70, a BMW M automobile based on the fully electric BMW i7. The
further transformation towards electric mobility has also already been
mapped out. In order to be able to include high-performance cars with
purely electric drive in the range in the future, BMW M GmbH will
intensify the corresponding concept testing in 2023. The focus will be
on an integrated driving dynamics control system and an electric M
xDrive all-wheel drive system with four electric motors, which will
ensure that the emotionally powerful M feeling reaches an even higher level.

Anniversary year with spectacular premieres, BMW M3 and BMW M4
remain on the road to success, fast-paced launch for the new BMW
M240i xDrive Coupe*.
The celebrations of the 50th
anniversary of BMW M GmbH were accompanied by debuts for numerous
spectacular new models. The broad spectrum of new releases ranged from
the second generation of the puristic BMW M2*, with its combination of
straight six-cylinder engine, 6-speed manual transmission and
rear-wheel drive, which evokes classic driving pleasure in a
high-performance automobile, to the extroverted BMW XM with its
480 kW/653 hp M HYBRID drive. The first BMW M3 Touring* also offers
completely new ways to experience M-typical performance. This
diversity creates ideal conditions for attracting additional target
groups and generating further growth in 2023.

The current increase in sales figures is also based on sales
successes in a wide range of vehicle segments. The high-performance
sports cars of the BMW M3 and BMW M4 series, which – including the new
BMW M3 Touring – are available in four body variants, in two
performance levels, with a choice of a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed M
Steptronic transmission, as well as with rear-wheel drive or the
all-wheel drive system M xDrive, continued to enjoy particularly
widespread popularity in 2022. BMW M GmbH thus covers a wide range of
customer needs in this core segment.

With an exceptionally strong performance within their competitive
environment, the high-performance cars based on BMW X models also
contributed to BMW M GmbH's new sales record. The upcoming upgrade for
the BMW X5 M and BMW X6 M models in spring 2023 will provide effective
impetus for a continuation of this success story.

The successful launch of the new BMW M240i xDrive Coupe in 2022
proved to be a highlight in the performance car segment. The new
edition of the compact two-door is powered by a 275 kW/374 hp
straight-six engine and is now also available with classic rear-wheel
drive. “The new sales record for BMW M Automobiles is based on our
successful presence in a broad range of vehicle segments,” says Timo
Resch. “With our wide-ranging product portfolio, we are also ideally
positioned for the future.”

Premiere at Daytona: the new BMW M3 CS* and the BMW M Hybrid V8.
In addition, BMW M GmbH fulfils the desire for particularly
concentrated racing characteristics with attractive special models –
as early as 2022 with the BMW M4 CSL* and soon with the new BMW M3 CS.

The BMW M3 CS will make its world debut on the last weekend of
January as part of the 24-hour race at Daytona. The tradition-steeped
competition in the US state of Florida is also the venue for BMW M
Motorsport's comeback to endurance racing. The new BMW M Hybrid V8
will compete there for the first time. 47 years after the Daytona
overall victory of the legendary BMW 3.0 CSL, the new LMDh prototype
is set to race for points in the IMSA GTP class of the WeatherTech
SportsCar Championship before also competing in the official FIA World
Endurance Championship at Le Mans and elsewhere in 2024.

The final phase of the development process and the subsequent test
drives on various race tracks were among the highlights of 2022 for
the BMW M GmbH motorsport department, while the all-important success
on the race track was the overall victory in the DTM drivers' and
teams' championships. South African Sheldon van der Linde and Team
Schubert Motorsport secured the title win in the prestigious touring
car championship in the very first season with the new BMW M4 GT3.

Munich. BMW will be participating in the Essen Motor
Show 2022 with numerous attractions and a diverse programme. Europe's
largest trade fair for tuning, motorsport and sporty production
vehicles will open its doors at the Gruga-Halle grounds from 3 to 11
December 2022. Among other things, BMW will inspire visitors with a
world premiere: In Essen, the new BMW M2 with BMW M Performance
Parts will be on display for the first time.

Furthermore, in addition to current BMW M automobiles, other sporty
retrofit options from the Original BMW accessories range will be
presented at the BMW stand in hall 3. Interviews and autograph
sessions with star guests from the motorsport scene round off the
varied programme at the BMW stand.

Sharpened appearance, enhanced performance: BMW M Performance
Parts for the new BMW M2.

In addition to the sharpened appearance, the customisation options
developed specifically for the new BMW M2 also optimise the impressive
driving characteristics of the high-performance sports car. The
striking add-on parts for the front, rear and sides of the compact
two-door model are made of carbon fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP),
which is sealed with a transparent coating to reveal the typical fibre
structure of the material. Exterior components such as the M
Performance Carbon front attachment, the M Performance Carbon side
skirt attachments, the M Performance Carbon rear diffuser or the M
Performance Carbon rear spoiler underscore the puristic racing genes
of the new BMW M2, whilst also having a positive effect on its
aerodynamic properties.

Sporty, ambitious drivers will also appreciate the wide range of BMW
M Performance Parts in the areas of drive, chassis and cockpit. The M
Performance Titanium silencer system, for example, not only saves
eight kilograms in weight vs. the standard component, but also brings
out the sound of the 338 kW/460 hp straight six-cylinder engine even
more intensively. In the interior, the M Performance interior trims
Carbon/Alcantara, the M Performance armrest Alcantara and many other
high-quality options create a genuine sports car flair, while the M
Performance knee pads Alcantara provide a secure grip even during
sporty, ambitious driving. This allows you to fully enjoy the agility
and cornering dynamics of the M Performance suspension on a closed-off
track - or simply enjoy racing-inspired driving pleasure in everyday life.

Fascinating model range, inspiring discussion partners.

From the current model range of BMW M GmbH, the models on show in
Essen include the first BMW M3 Touring, the BMW M240i Coupe and the
all-electric BMW i4 M50. Another eye-catcher comes directly from the
race track into the exhibition hall: the first M3 Touring MotoGP™
Safety Car. The latest safety car addition from BMW M has been
equipped with the entire product range of BMW M Performance Parts for
its use in the premium class of road motorcycle racing.

The Red Bull Driftbrothers will bring even more performance and
racing aesthetics to Essen. Elias and Johannes Hountondji will be
exhibiting one of their drift cars at the BMW stand: Their racing cars
are based on a production model of the BMW M4 Series. With a
customised exhaust system, custom body kit and an aerodynamics
package, it will amaze not only horsepower enthusiasts. On the first
three days of the fair, visitors will have the opportunity to meet the
Driftbrothers during an autograph session. However, the brothers from
Swabia are not the only celebrity guests: on Saturday, 3 December
2022, BMW M Motorsport works driver Jens Klingmann will welcome
entrepreneur, influencer and TV presenter Jean Pierre Kraemer (JP
Performance) for an interview. The tuning expert will bring along his
BMW M4 CSL, which can be admired at the BMW stand for the entire
duration of the show.

CO2 EMISSIONS & CONSUMPTION.

Munich. The new BMW M2 (fuel consumption combined:
9.8 – 9.6 l/100 km [28.8 – 29.4 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions
combined: 222 – 218 g/km in the WLTP cycle; figures for the NEDC
cycle: – ) promises unadulterated driving pleasure through every mile
– of everyday journeys and track sessions alike. The race-inspired
character of the compact high-performance sports car can be
accentuated to stunning effect with the help of the
BMW M Performance Parts specially developed for this model. Available
from the launch of the new M2 (which gets underway in April 2023), the
retrofit products from the Original BMW Accessories range add extra
touches of rich emotionality to the design of the new BMW M2.

The BMW M Performance Parts for the car’s aerodynamics, powertrain,
chassis and cockpit offer a wide variety of options for customising
the new BMW M2 with maximum performance in mind. All the components
were developed on the back of BMW M GmbH’s motor-racing expertise and
the experienced it has garnered over five decades, and have been
precisely tuned to match the two-door model’s specific
characteristics. They reinforce the pure-bred performance credentials
of the new BMW M2, whose compact dimensions, 338 kW/460 hp
six-cylinder in-line engine, optionally available six-speed manual
gearbox, sophisticated chassis technology and rear-wheel drive make
the first step into the world of high-performance cars from BMW M GmbH
a hugely enticing one.

Exclusive materials, enhanced aerodynamic properties: the BMW
M Performance exterior components.

All the retrofit products in the BMW M Performance Parts portfolio
stand out with their high-impact design, exclusive materials and top
quality. The BMW M Performance exterior components for the new BMW M2
therefore match the two-door model’s styling and geometry to
perfection. And they have already undergone homologation alongside the
overall vehicle, meaning they comply with statutory safety regulations
as well as the BMW Group’s own strict standards.

The carbon-fibre add-on parts for the front, sides and rear are made
from carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic. They optimise the car’s
aerodynamic properties while also accentuating its racing aura with a
clear coat finish that exposes the composition of fibres beneath. The
M Performance front splitter carbon fibre and M Performance air intake
trim carbon fibre, for instance, ensure the new BMW M2 makes a
particularly striking impression. Customers wishing to give the car’s
side profile a sharper visual edge have a choice of M Performance side
skirt attachments carbon fibre, M Performance side spats carbon fibre
front and rear and M exterior mirror caps carbon fibre. Airflow around
the vehicle can be optimised with the M Performance rear lip spoiler
carbon fibre and M Performance rear diffuser carbon fibre. Meanwhile,
the M Performance rear spoiler carbon fibre and M Performance
roof-edge spoiler in high-gloss Black dial the racing flair up to the
max. Further personal touches can be added to the vehicle exterior in
the form of an M Performance tow strap and an M Performance antenna
cover in aramid, another exclusive fibre composite material.

Less weight, more sound: titanium M Performance silencer system.

The titanium M Performance silencer system available for the new
BMW M2 boasts reduced weight, an unmistakable look and distinct
racing-car acoustics. Its front pipes are made from lightweight
stainless steel while the rear silencer has an all-titanium
construction. As a result, the titanium M Performance silencer system
is some eight kilograms lighter than the standard item. The exhaust
system with its electrically controlled flaps and centrally positioned
quartet of tailpipes is offered in combination with a specially
modified M Performance rear diffuser carbon fibre. The tailpipe trim
module is also made from titanium and has a ceramic coating. Optimised
routing of the exhaust gases creates an even sportier driving
experience. The soundtrack can be adjusted using the powertrain
settings in the M Setup menu and hits a particularly exhilarating note
reminiscent of a racing car in Sport and Sport+ modes.

M Performance tailpipe trims in titanium/carbon fibre are available
as an eye-catching addition to the standard exhaust system fitted on
the new BMW M2. Their sophisticated mix of materials and perforated
inner pipes lend the rear end a highly exclusive air.

M Performance suspension with height-adjustable spring cups.

The M Performance suspension available as a retrofit item for the new
BMW M2 endows it with even sharper agility and cornering dynamics. Its
coilover design with height-adjustable spring cups at the front and
rear axle allows the ride height to be lowered by up to 10 millimetres
as required. Specially tuned for the new BMW M2, not just on the track
but on regular roads as well, the M Performance suspension results in
a far more direct connection between the body and road surface. This
allows drivers to experience track-inspired driving dynamics on
everyday journeys.

The M Performance forged wheels offered for the new BMW M2 also
provide the ideal ingredients for an extremely sporty driving style.
Each sculpted from a single piece of aluminium, they represent a
compelling proposition with their exceptional stability, perfectly
true running and visually striking design. The items for the new BMW
M2 have a cross-spoke design measuring 20 inches in diameter at the
front axle and 21 inches at the rear, which can be ordered in a choice
of M Frozen Gold Bronze or M Jet Black matt. The M Performance tyre
bags bring motor sport feeling to the customer’s garage, too. They are
printed with a logo in the BMW M GmbH colours and a graphic indicating
the wheel position, and also have a reinforced handle for easy transportation.

Precision doses of extra racing flair for the interior.

The BMW M Performance Parts range also features high-grade components
for the interior of the BMW M2 that bring targeted enhancements to its
sports-car cockpit. The M Performance interior trim panels in carbon
fibre/Alcantara offered in combination with Alcantara knee pads
intensify the racing-car aura inside the cabin. The elaborately
hand-crafted interior trim panels are made from open-pore, matt-coated
carbon fibre and come with M Performance badging in brushed aluminium.
Also available as an individual option, the Alcantara M Performance
knee pads offer additional support under particularly hard cornering
and set the seal on the sporting ambience. A matching M Performance
armrest in Alcantara is also available for the centre console of the
new BMW M2.

On models equipped with M Sport seats, the sense of sportiness and
exclusivity can be turned up another notch with the M Performance
backrest covers in carbon fibre/Alcantara. The hand-crafted head
restraint trims are available in a choice of open-pore or high-gloss
carbon fibre and carry an M Performance badge. The remainder of the
rear panel for the driver’s and front passenger seats is trimmed in Alcantara.

The M Performance steering wheel Pro is ideal for cornering with
supreme precision. It features a distinctly contoured grip area in
Alcantara with large thumb rests and a special lining, while the rim’s
upper section and slightly flattened lower section are wrapped in
top-quality fulled leather. A centre marker and decorative stitching
in the BMW M GmbH colours put the finishing touches to the steering
wheel’s stunning looks. The M Performance steering wheel trims offer
another route to increased driving pleasure with their high-quality
materials and racing-car feel. They are available for the new BMW M2
in a choice of carbon fibre/Alcantara and carbon fibre/leather. Both
variants can also be combined with the M Performance shift paddles
carbon fibre. The M Performance door sill plates carbon fibre provide
the ideal transition between the dynamism of the new BMW M2 exterior
and the sports car flair of its cabin. Their carbon fibre inlays are
printed with a coloured M Performance logo.

The portfolio of products for optimising the new BMW M2’s racing
characteristics in distinctive style is rounded off by velour
M Performance floor mats featuring decorative stitching in contrasting
colours and M Performance badging, as well as M Performance door pins
with a coloured M logo and the M Performance fuel filler cap carbon fibre.

CO2 EMISSIONS & CONSUMPTION.

With its 338 kW/460 hp six-cylinder in-line engine, an optionally available six-speed manual gearbox and rear-wheel drive, the second generation of the compact high-performance sports car promises unadulterated driving pleasure. The debut of the new BMW M2 marks another highlight event in the model offensive celebrating the 50-year anniversary of BMW M GmbH, while making the first step into the world of its high-performance cars an even more enticing one.</pp:summary>

Compact dimensions together with powertrain and chassis technology
adapted from the BMW M3/BMW M4 are at the heart of a vehicle concept
that endows the new edition of the two-door model with beguiling
agility and handling that remain easily controllable even as the
driver explores the car’s limits. This distinct character profile also
manifests itself in the expressive exterior design with its athletic
coupé proportions. The sophisticated control/operating concept for
customising the vehicle setup also helps to produce a performance
experience of remarkable intensity. Thanks to these many attributes,
the new BMW M2 continues the brand’s tradition of ultra-sporty models
with compact dimensions that began in 1973 with the arrival of the
BMW 2002 turbo. It is also building on the success of its predecessor,
which notched up nearly 60,000 sales worldwide.

The global launch of the new BMW M2 will get underway in April 2023.
It will be built alongside the new BMW 2 Series Coupé at the BMW
Group’s San Luis Potosí plant in Mexico.

Compact dimensions, extremely powerful proportions.

The athletic appearance of the new BMW M2 stems from its compact
dimensions, extremely powerful proportions and hallmark M design
features. It measures 214 millimetres less in exterior length than the
BMW M4 Coupé models and has a 110-millimetre shorter wheelbase. At the
same time, the vehicle and track widths exceed the figures for the new
BMW 2 Series Coupé by a considerable margin.

The large, frameless BMW kidney grille with its horizontal bars
combines with a three-section lower air intake with almost rectangular
contours to give the front end of the car a familiar M look. The
design has been crafted around technical requirements in terms of
cooling air supply and aerodynamic balance. Clearly designed surfaces,
prominently flared side skirts and muscular wheel arches set the tone
for the side view. The rear end of the new BMW M2 also has a compact,
powerful feel and adds a number of individual touches in the form of
the eye-catching spoiler lip on the boot lid, the vertically arranged
reflectors, the rear apron’s diffuser insert – with its puristic
design – and the two pairs of exhaust tailpipes positioned a long way
in from the outer edges.

The choice of five exterior paint finishes available for the new BMW
M2 includes the Zandvoort Blue solid and Toronto Red metallic shades
exclusive to this model. An M Carbon roof that reduces vehicle weight
by around six kilograms is offered as an option.

Six-cylinder in-line engine with instantaneous power delivery
and a thrilling appetite for revs.

The version of the straight-six engine developed for the compact
high-performance model with M TwinPower Turbo technology and
high-revving design stands out with its M-typical performance
characteristics. Differing only in a small number of details from the
engine employed in the BMW M3 and BMW M4 models, the 3.0-litre unit
thrills with its urgent response, healthy appetite for revs and linear
power delivery into the highest reaches of the engine speed range.

Developing a maximum output of 338 kW/460 hp, the engine under the
bonnet of the new BMW M2 outguns the base unit used by its predecessor
by 66 kW/90 hp. Peak torque of 550 Nm (405 lb-ft) is produced between
2,650 and 5,870 rpm with maximum output arriving at 6,250 rpm. The new
engine revs to a maximum 7,200 rpm. The pulsating build-up of power is
accompanied by an emotionally rich soundtrack generated by the
M-specific exhaust system with electrically controlled flaps. The
system of oil supply is designed to handle extremely dynamic driving
situations when out on the track, as is the cooling system.

A choice of performance experience: eight-speed M Steptronic
transmission with Drivelogic as standard, six-speed manual gearbox
as an option.

The engine’s power is relayed to the rear wheels via an eight-speed
M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic as standard. Its extremely
sporty gear shifts, direct connection to the engine and ability to
execute multiple downshifts to the lowest available gear form the
ideal basis for beguiling, instantaneous acceleration. It is operated
by means of a selector lever sporting the latest M design as well as
shift paddles on the steering wheel. The Drivelogic function offers a
choice of three shift settings.

A six-speed manual gearbox is available as an option for anyone
seeking a performance experience in the classical mould, rooted in the
intense interaction between driver and car. It lends itself to a
sporty style of driving thanks not only to its precisely defined shift
action, but also the Gear Shift Assistant, which uses engagement speed
control to ensure slip-free operation when downshifting under braking
into corners. If required, the Gear Shift Assistant can be deactivated
in the M Setup menu.

The new BMW M2 completes the sprint to 100 km/h (62 mph) from rest in
4.1 seconds with the eight-speed M Steptronic transmission and in 4.3
seconds when fitted with the six-speed manual gearbox. It is capable
of powering from 0 to 200 km/h (124 mph) in 13.5 seconds (automatic)
or 14.3 seconds (manual). The limited top speed of the new BMW M2 can
be raised from 250 km/h (155 mph) to 285 km/h (177 mph) by specifying
the optional M Driver’s Package.

Rear-wheel drive, M Traction Control and Active M Differential
provide agility, precision and driving pleasure as the occasion demands.

Regardless of the choice of transmission, the new BMW M2’s
traditional form of dynamic performance is also embodied by its
rear-wheel drive. The linear build-up of lateral acceleration forces
characteristic of M models helps the driver to guide the car through
corners with controlled drifts, for example. The standard M Traction
Control function is also designed to allow the driver to carefully
probe the vehicle’s performance limits by setting individual
intervention thresholds for wheel slip limitation, with a choice of
ten stages.

Another contributor to the sublime dynamics of the BMW M2 is the
Active M Differential at the rear axle. Also included as standard, it
is able to seamlessly generate a locking effect of up to 100 per cent
whenever required. This optimises traction on road surfaces offering
different levels of adhesion for the left- and right-hand rear wheel,
for example, as well as improving power transfer when accelerating
hard out of corners.

Sophisticated chassis technology, precisely controllable handling.

The new BMW M2’s compact dimensions, short wheelbase, almost
perfectly balanced 50:50 weight distribution and sophisticated chassis
technology combine to deliver precisely controllable, fingertip
handling. The car’s agility, dynamism and precision also gain from the
excellent torsional stiffness of the body structure and chassis
mountings helped by bespoke bracing.

Both the double-joint spring strut front axle and the five-link rear
axle come with M-specific kinematics. The standard equipment roster
for the new BMW M2 includes adaptive M suspension with electronically
controlled dampers, M Servotronic steering with variable ratio, DSC
(Dynamic Stability Control) including M Dynamic Mode, and powerful
M Compound brakes with six-piston, fixed-calliper brakes at the front
and single-piston, floating-calliper brakes at the rear. The
integrated braking system presents the driver with two pedal feel
settings. The new BMW M2 comes with 19-inch light-alloy wheels at the
front and 20-inch items at the rear, each representing an increase of
one inch on the diameter of the wheels fitted as standard on the
BMW M3 and BMW M4 models. There is also the option of fitting them
with track tyres.

Advanced sports car cockpit with BMW Curved Display as
standard and the option of M Carbon bucket seats.

The new BMW M2 boasts a cockpit with a driver-centric design
featuring M-specific readouts, controls and setup options, as well as
the advanced BMW Curved Display. Driving-related information including
Shift Lights appears in a new graphical layout on the 12.3-inch
information display. M-specific widgets for vehicle setup and tyre
condition are just two of the items that can be called up in the
14.9-inch control display. The optional BMW Head-Up Display also
features M-specific readouts.

Both the BMW Curved Display and the BMW Intelligent Personal
Assistant form part of the latest-generation BMW iDrive. Based on
BMW Operating System 8, it has been purpose designed for intuitive
interaction between driver and vehicle using touch control and natural
language. The new BMW iDrive system enables personalisation with the
BMW ID and My BMW App as well as allowing a Personal eSIM to be used
in the vehicle. Smartphone integration for Apple CarPlay® and Android
Auto™ is likewise included as standard on the new BMW M2, and there is
also a 5G antenna system for optimised connectivity.

The driver and front passenger are welcomed as standard by sport
seats in a model-specific design with Sensatec/Alcantara surfaces. M
Sport seats with integral head restraints and perforated surfaces in
Vernasca leather/Sensatec are available as an alternative. The
M Carbon bucket seats that can also be found on the options list use
carbon fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) in the structural elements of
the seat cushion and backrest and also feature cut-outs in the side
bolsters and below the head restraints, thereby shaving around
10.8 kilograms off the vehicle’s weight.

Three-zone automatic climate control, BMW Maps navigation
system, Setup button and M Drive Professional as standard.

The comfort features fitted as standard in the new BMW M2 include
three-zone automatic climate control, BMW Live Cockpit Plus complete
with BMW Maps navigation system, ambient lighting and the Hi-Fi
speaker system. When it comes to automated driving and parking
systems, the Front Collision Warning, Speed Limit Display with
no-overtaking indicator, Lane Departure Warning and Park Distance
Control functions all come as standard. The Driving Assistant, Active
Cruise Control with Stop & Go function and the Parking Assistant
including Reversing Assistant are just some of the options available.

The Setup button on the centre console provides direct access to the
settings options for the engine, chassis, steering, braking system and
M Traction Control, as well as the Gear Shift Assistant if fitted. Two
overall vehicle setups can be stored and then retrieved using the
M buttons on the steering wheel.

Besides M Traction Control, the standard-fit M Drive Professional
also includes the M Drift Analyser and M Laptimer. Plus, the M Mode
button on the centre console can be used to adjust both the level of
driver assistance system activity and the content shown in the
information display and Head-Up Display, with a choice of ROAD, SPORT
and TRACK settings.

Also on the options list is the M Race Track Package, comprising the
M Driver’s Package together with the M Carbon roof, M Carbon bucket
seats, interior trim strips in Carbon Fibre finish and track tyres.

CO2 EMISSIONS & CONSUMPTION.

High-performance drive, M chassis and two transmission options guarantee a unique, sporty driving experience, even when pushed to the limit.</pp:summary>

Munich. With just a few months remaining until the
world premiere of the new BMW M2*, the final test phase in the
development of the new high-performance car is in full swing. The new
BMW M2 offers thoroughbred racing technology for the roads. In keeping
with its affinity with the racetrack, the car’s driving dynamics were
subjected to an intensive test at the Salzburgring in Austria.

The tests focussed on the driving dynamics and chassis, and the new
BMW M2 impressed with outstanding characteristics. The new production
car boasts a similar performance level to the BMW M2 CS**, the
exclusive, special-edition sports car from BMW M GmbH. It allows the
driver to experience that pure racetrack feeling in any conditions –
even at the limit.

The power under the bonnet of the BMW M2 is provided by the
tried-and-tested engines from the M3 and M4 models. The two optional
transmission types, the manual 6-speed gearbox and 8-speed M
Steptronic gearbox, guarantee that the power is applied extremely
dynamically, redefining sheer driving pleasure. The sporty driving
characteristics are intensified by the adaptive M chassis and the
rear-wheel drive on the new BMW M2. The powerful brake system comes
from the M3 and M4 and ensures the power is controlled effortlessly.

The sporty appearance of the new BMW M2 is rounded off by a selection
of special equipment options. For example, a carbon roof to reduce
weight, among other benefits. M carbon bucket seats for the driver and
passenger, also available as an option, emphasise the racing look of
the new BMW M2.

The world premiere of the new BMW M2 will be in October, followed by
the market launch in April 2023.

CO2 EMISSIONS & CONSUMPTION.

*Due to the prototype vehicle status, technical details like fuel
