version of the six-cylinder in-line engine with M TwinPower Turbo
technology produces output of 390 kW/530 hp. In the new
BMW M3 Competition Sedan with M xDrive (fuel consumption, combined:
10.2 – 10.1 l/100 km [27.7 – 28.0 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions,
combined: 230 – 227 g/km in the WLTP cycle, CO2 class: G)
and new BMW M3 Competition Touring with M xDrive (fuel consumption,
combined: 10.4 – 10.3 l/100 km [27.2 – 27.4 mpg imp]; CO2
emissions, combined: 235 – 233 g/km in the WLTP cycle, CO2
class: G), the increased engine power is channelled via an eight-speed
M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic to all four wheels.

The power unit in the new BMW M3 Competition Sedan (fuel consumption,
combined: 9.9 – 9.7 l/100 km [28.5 – 29.1 mpg imp];
CO2 emissions, combined: 224 – 220 g/km in the WLTP cycle,
CO2 class: G) generates maximum output of 375 kW/510
hp. It also links up with an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission
with Drivelogic and sends its power through the rear wheels. And for
owners seeking a pure-bred performance experience not offered by any
segment rival, the new BMW M3 Sedan (fuel consumption, combined:
10.1 – 10.0 l/100 km [28.0 – 28.2 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions,
combined: 230 – 227 g/km in the WLTP cycle, CO2 class: G)
teams the 353 kW/480 hp variant of the straight-six engine with a
six-speed manual gearbox and rear-wheel drive.

All model variants of the new BMW M3 Sedan and new BMW M3 Touring
will be built at BMW Group Plant Munich. They will be launched
worldwide with a production phase-in in July 2024. The most important
sales regions for the BMW M3 Sedan are the USA, China, Great Britain,
Australia and Germany. The BMW M3 Touring is extremely popular above
all in Germany, but also in Great Britain, other European countries
and Australia.

Traditional race-car feeling, distinctive characters.

Now in its sixth model generation, the BMW M3 is more powerful, more
poised and assured, more advanced and more versatile than ever. The
sedan is continuing a high-performance sports car bloodline that
stretches back almost 40 years. The first generation of the BMW M3,
unveiled in 1986, went on to become the most successful model in
touring car racing worldwide. Then, as now, a car’s success in motor
sport was accompanied by steadily increasing popularity for the
production model and rare levels of excitement for its owner out on
the road.

The race-car feeling associated with the BMW M3 – present at the
driver’s fingertips over every mile of a journey – can be experienced
in totally different ways with this latest generation. The BMW M3
Sedan now lines up alongside a Touring model, the BMW M3 Touring
fusing the performance attributes for which this model series is
renowned with additional practicality and expanded load-carrying
ability. It is available exclusively with the most powerful version of
the six-cylinder in-line engine for the BMW M3/M4 and the M xDrive
intelligent all-wheel-drive system. Folding down the rear seat
backrests increases load compartment capacity from 500 to a maximum 1,510 litres.

With its new vehicle concept for the premium midsize class,
BMW M GmbH caused an instant sensation not only among fans of the
brand but also in the ranks of professional experts. In its first full
year of production, the BMW M3 Touring won the “Golden Steering Wheel”
award presented by motoring magazine “Auto Bild” and the “Bild am
Sonntag” newspaper in Germany. In Great Britain, it was crowned “Dream
Car” of the year by “Autocar” magazine, while “Top Gear” magazine gave
it the title “All The Car You’ll Ever Need” in its “Car of the Year Awards”.

With their distinct body concepts and specific qualities, the Sedan
and Touring models occupy very different character spaces within the
M3 range. One of their most important shared elements is their
visually striking design with hallmark M features crafted precisely to
meet the technical demands of cooling air supply and aerodynamic
balance. The large, vertical BMW kidney grille with signature M double
bars arranged horizontally, the powerfully sculpted wheel arches, the
extended side skirts in contrasting Black high-gloss and the
attachment parts for the front and rear aprons all provide clear
pointers to the dynamic potential of the two models. The BMW M3 Sedan
has a carbon-fibre roof as standard. The roof of the BMW M3 Touring,
like its standard-fit roof rails, comes in black. It has a Gurney flap
on the roof spoiler as an additional air-directing element.

Engine technology borrows from motor racing.

All the variants of the new BMW M3 Sedan and new BMW M3 Touring
feature a high-revving straight-six engine with M TwinPower Turbo
technology. In all its output variants, the 3.0-litre unit stands out
with its healthy appetite for revs into the highest reaches of the
engine speed range and so produces the linear power delivery typical
of high-performance models from BMW M GmbH.

Numerous elements adapted from race-car engine construction allow the
power unit in the M3 to deliver an unmistakable performance experience
on both road and track. The crankcase, with its sleeve-free,
closed-deck construction, is extremely rigid and teams up with a
forged crankshaft with lightweight design to unlock extremely high
torque potential. The cylinder bores have a wire-arc sprayed iron
coating. And the 3D-printed core for the cylinder head – another
special M-specific feature – enables optimised routing of the coolant
ducts that would be impossible to achieve using conventional metal
casting methods.

Like the cooling system, the oil circuit is also designed to handle
the particular challenges of track driving. A map-controlled oil pump
ensures reliable oil supply even under extreme longitudinal and
lateral acceleration.

The M TwinPower Turbo technology here comprises two mono-scroll
turbochargers, each of which supplies compressed air to three
cylinders. An indirect intercooler supplied by a low-temperature
circuit plus specially designed compressors further enhance the
turbocharger’s power output. The package of technology also includes
High Precision Injection – which works at maximum pressure of 350 bar
to ensure fine atomisation of fuel and therefore faster engine
response – as well as VALVETRONIC variable valve timing and
Double-VANOS fully variable camshaft timing.

The engine variant in the new BMW M3 Competition Sedan with M xDrive
and new BMW M3 Competition Touring with M xDrive develops an extra
15 kW/20 hp thanks to optimised configuration of the digital engine
control unit (DME). The six-cylinder in-line engine now generates
maximum output of 390 kW/530 hp (up from the previous 375 kW/510 hp)
at 6,250 rpm. The upgraded engine, which also serves as the basis for
the unit powering the BMW M4 GT3, summons its peak torque of 650 Nm
(479 lb-ft) between 2,750 and a now even higher 5,730 rpm. The result
is even more ferocious, sustained power delivery that adds another
layer of intensity to the performance experience – in particular when
the driver is exploring the car’s dynamic limits – and enables
impressive acceleration figures.

The new BMW M3 Competition Sedan with M xDrive accelerates
from
0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.5 seconds, and the new BMW M3 Competition
Touring with M xDrive completes the same sprint in 3.6 seconds – only
a touch longer, despite its higher kerb weight. The increased output
of the two all-wheel-drive models is reflected in 0 to 200 km/h (124
mph) times that are 0.5 seconds quicker in each case. The sedan now
records a time of 11.8 seconds, the Touring 12.4 seconds.

All variants of the new BMW M3 Sedan and new BMW M3 Touring have an
electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph) as standard.
However, if the optional M Driver’s Package is specified, this figure
rises to 290 km/h (180 mph) for the sedans and 280 km/h (174 mph) for
the Touring model, allowing drivers to utilise the full potential of
the powerful engines.

Model-specific composition of engine, transmission and chassis.

The six-speed manual gearbox fitted in the new BMW M3 Sedan is, like
the standard eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic of
the Competition models, tuned to optimum effect to the performance
characteristics of the engine at hand. Drivers favouring a sporty
driving style will enjoy the benefits of the standard-fit gearshift
paddles on the steering wheel, which allow the driver to make
spontaneous interventions in the automatic transmission’s gear
selection process as and when they decide. The driving experience can
be tailored even more precisely to individual tastes by adapting the
shift characteristics of the transmission according to requirements
and the situation at hand using the Drivelogic button.

The two most powerful models are equipped with M xDrive to elevate
traction to an even higher level. The rear-biased setup of the
intelligent all-wheel-drive system further enhances the agility of the
new BMW M3 Competition Sedan with M xDrive and new BMW M3 Competition
Touring with M xDrive. The system teams up with the Active M
Differential at the rear axle – whose operation is also fully variable
– to add to the signature M feeling when powering through corners. In
addition to the default 4WD setting, the driver can also select 4WD
Sport mode via the M Setup menu. Here, a higher proportion of drive
power is sent to the rear wheels for even more agile handling.
Switching off DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) also brings 2WD mode
into play, which means power is sent exclusively to the rear wheels.
This mode offers skilled drivers a pure-bred driving experience
without interventions from the control systems.

The high torsional stiffness of the body structure and chassis
mountings creates the ideal platform for impressive driving dynamics
and instantaneous response to steering commands. As well as the
bracing elements in the BMW M3 Sedan, the BMW M3 Touring has
additional torsion struts in the rear. This extra strengthening
measure gives the Touring body variant the tools it needs to display
the combination of dynamism, agility and handling precision typically
found in BMW M models.

The M-specific kinematics and elastokinematics of the double-joint
spring strut front axle and five-link rear axle ensure the harmonious
blend of extremely dynamic handling and finely judged comfort-focused
qualities in everyday use and over longer journeys characteristic of
all the models in the M3 range. The standard adaptive M suspension
gives drivers the ability to adapt the responses of the electronically
controlled dampers as they wish. Via the M Setup menu, drivers can
select from three different settings to optimise the car’s handling in
line with need and personal preference.

The package of chassis technology also includes M Servotronic
steering and the integrated braking system, which works in conjunction
with both the standard M Compound brakes and the optional M Carbon
ceramic brakes. Both variants have six-piston fixed-calliper brakes at
the front axle and single-piston floating-calliper brakes at the rear.
As well as larger and more heat-resistant brake discs – which, thanks
to their considerable ability to withstand fade, ensure uncompromising
deceleration even under extreme conditions – the M Carbon ceramic
brakes also stand out with their intelligent lightweight construction;
they are around 14 kilograms lighter than the standard M Compound
brakes. The reduction in unsprung mass plays a particularly
significant role in delivering increased agility, enhanced handling,
faster response and lower fuel consumption.

The standard blue brake callipers of the M Compound system can also
be specified in red or black as an option. The callipers of the M
Carbon ceramic brakes have a Gold metallic painted finish. All of the
variations feature a striking BMW M logo on the brake callipers at the
front axle as an additional identifier of M-typical performance at work.

The DSC system, meanwhile, ensures a form of driving pleasure
unmatched by any rival. Indeed, with M Dynamic Mode it offers an
ultra-sporty configuration that raises the system’s intervention
thresholds when it comes to controlling braking inputs and delays the
point at which it steps in to restrict engine output. This maximises
the car’s performance dynamics with DSC switched on. The system can
also be fully deactivated (DSC off).

The new BMW M3 Sedan can be specified as an option with the
M Traction Control function. A standard feature on all Competition
models, this slip control tech can be adjusted through ten stages
according to the driver’s preferences or the road conditions at hand.
It allows the control system inputs to be reduced in stages so that
the driver can approach the physical limits in race action on the
track, for example. The M Laptimer and M Drift Analyser help
experienced drivers improve their lap times and hone their drifting
skills. The integrated application of all drivetrain and chassis
systems was fine-tuned at locations including the Nürburgring’s
Nordschleife circuit, but it also ensures highly dynamic and at the
same time precisely controllable handling in everyday driving.

Axle-specific wheel sizes, M forged light-alloy wheels with a
new design.

All new BMW M3 model variants are fitted as standard with M forged
light-alloy wheels in axle-specific rim sizes to the benefit of
agility and handling. The two rear-wheel-drive high-performance sedans
have Orbit Grey metallic M light-alloy wheels in V-spoke design
measuring 18 inches at the front axle and 19 inches at the rear.
Standard specification for the new BMW M3 Competition Sedan with M
xDrive and new BMW M3 Competition Touring with M xDrive includes
Jetblack forged light-alloy wheels in double-spoke design (19-inch at
the front axle and 20-inch at the rear axle).

This combination is also optionally available for the new BMW M3
Sedan and new BMW M3 Competition Sedan. Plus, new forged M light-alloy
wheels in 19-inch and 20-inch formats have been added to the extensive
optional equipment roster for all model variants. These are now
finished in the colour Silver for the first time, their bright, shiny
surfaces ensuring a sporty yet also elegantly sophisticated appearance.

Extensive selection of assistance systems; M Mode button to
call up personalised selection of functions.

The new BMW M3 Sedan and new BMW M3 Touring set new standards in
their segment with their extensive range of standard and optional
automated driving and parking systems. In order to provide a dynamic
experience that is both appropriate for the situation at hand and fits
the high-performance sports car brief, the interventions of the driver
assistance systems can be adjusted using the M Mode button on the
centre console. For example, in the optional TRACK setting conceived
for use on race circuits, all comfort and safety systems are
temporarily deactivated.

Standard specification for all model variants includes Park Distance
Control with sensors at the front and rear, Cruise Control with brake
function, front collision warning system with brake intervention, Lane
Departure Warning including lane return with steering assistance, and
Speed Limit Info with no-overtaking indicator. Among the items on the
options list are the Driving Assistant and Parking Assistant including
Reversing Assistant. Also available as an option for the Competition
models is the Driving Assistant Professional, which adds functions
such as the Steering and Lane Control Assistant with automatic Speed
Limit Assist, Lane Keeping Assistant, traffic light detection and
Active Cruise Control with Stop&Go function.

Newly designed headlights and eye-catching details sharpen the
cars’ visual character.

Newly designed LED headlights, which bring together low and high beam
in a single module, bring fresh accents to the front end of the new
BMW M3 Sedan and new BMW M3 Touring. Two elegantly sculpted, subtly
arrow-shaped and vertically arranged LED units in each module serve as
both side lights/daytime driving lights and turn signal indicators.
The technically focused impression created by the light sources, whose
inner workings are now structured in a particularly striking way,
ensures a progressive appearance which is also adopted by the slim LED
rear lights with L-shaped taillights.

Adaptive LED Headlights with non-dazzling matrix high beam are
available as an option, and include the cornering light function and
urban lights. Blue inlays inside the headlights indicate the presence
of this extremely sophisticated light technology. M Shadowline lights
with dark inner accents are also available for cars specified with the
Adaptive LED Headlights. The model badge on the boot lid of the
Competition models is now accented by an elegant silver-coloured surround.

New steering wheels and interior trim elements for the
M-specific sports car cockpit.

Open the door to the new edition of the high-performance models and
the stripped-back design of the interior will provide an instant hit
of motor sport DNA. New steering wheels and controls, plus highly
sophisticated materials for the instrument panel and interior trim
elements heighten the aura of exclusivity inside the M-specific sports
car cockpit.

Also playing its part in the dynamic driving experience is a newly
designed three-spoke M leather steering wheel with multifunction
buttons and red centre marker in the 12 o’clock position. It now has a
flat-bottomed rim and precisely modified spokes. Two M buttons for
selecting individually configured vehicle setups and the gearshift
paddles – fitted as standard in the Competition models to enable rapid
interventions in the eight-speed M Steptronic transmission’s gear
selection process – exude an intense race-car feeling. An M Alcantara
steering wheel in the same design and with the same functionality is
available as an option for the first time. A heating function is
available as an option for both steering wheel variants.

The M-specific cockpit design also includes a control panel on the
centre console. Located here along with the gearshift lever / selector
lever, the red Start/Stop button and the BMW iDrive Controller are
controls including the Setup button and M Mode button. These can be
used by the driver to configure their desired vehicle setup and
activate cockpit display and driver assistance system functions
tailored to the driving situation at hand.

High-quality, carefully crafted materials and M-specific design
features in the interior create a modern premium ambience with
sporting flair. The interior trim elements in the instrument panel,
control panel and cup holder cover now come as standard in Dark
Graphite matt. Options include interior trim elements in the Aluminium
Rhombicle Anthracite, M Carbon Fibre and new Fine Brushed Aluminium
variants. M Carbon Fibre now additionally includes elements for the
steering wheel and the gearshift paddles of the Competition models.
The optional Sensatec instrument panel now has a further refined
surface structure.

The standard M sport seats offer an array of electrically operated
adjustment options to make it easier to find the perfect position
behind the steering wheel. A memory function for the driver’s seat
allows the driver to store their desired adjustment settings. Also
shining the spotlight on the cabin’s commitment to progressive
sporting appeal are the integral head restraints with illuminated
model badging. Standard specification likewise includes seat heating
for the driver and front passenger, while seat ventilation is
available as an option. Available as alternatives to the standard
Merino leather trim are Merino full-leather trim, BMW Individual
Merino leather trim with extended features and BMW Individual Merino
full-leather trim – each in a choice of four colours.

The optional, also fully electrically adjustable and heated M Carbon
bucket seats provide an optimum, racing-car-like connection between
driver and car. They fuse racing functionality with luxurious
craftsmanship and excellent comfort over long distances. The use of
carbon fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) in the seat surface and
backrest elements, plus cut-outs in the side bolsters and below the
head restraints enable a weight saving of 9.6 kilograms over the
standard M sport seats.

BMW Curved Display and new BMW Operating System 8.5.

The new editions of the BMW M3 Sedan and BMW M3 Touring also welcome
the latest generation of the display and control/operation system
BMW iDrive based on BMW Operating System 8.5 into cockpits shaped by
progressive sporting appeal. With the high-resolution BMW Curved
Display angled towards the driver and upgraded BMW Personal Assistant,
the interaction between driver and car is based squarely on operation
using touch control and natural language. The fully digital screen
grouping made up of a 12.3-inch information display and a 14.9-inch
control display shows M-specific content. This includes additional
information on the vehicle’s status and sharpens the driver’s focus on
the road ahead. Also on the options list is the BMW Head-Up Display,
which projects information relevant to driving – including a
multi-coloured rpm dial, Shift Lights and M View – onto the
windscreen, again in an M-specific style.

The M-specific graphics and content on the information display and
control display are now joined by a new way of operating the
standard-fitted automatic climate control system. The temperature and
ventilation settings as well as the seat heating and – if specified –
steering wheel heating can now be controlled either by touch using a
special menu option in the lower area of the control display or by
voice command. This latest advance in the field of digital operation
brings a further reduction in the number of buttons and controls in
the cockpit and a new design for the instrument panel. New adjustment
controls for the air vent grilles in the centre of the instrument
panel and on the driver’s and front passenger side of the cockpit
allow the airflow direction to be adjusted using rotating and tilting movements.

In addition to the footwells, the storage compartment in the front
section of the centre console and the door openers, the standard
ambient lighting now also encompasses contour lighting integrated into
the trim around the central seam vents. Nine colours in multiples
grades of brightness allow customers to adjust the effect to their
personal preferences. The functionality of the interior lighting also
includes an atmospheric Welcome and Goodbye Animation and light
signals indicating an open door or incoming phone call.

As well as the cloud-based navigation system BMW Maps, the
standard-fitted BMW Live Cockpit Plus includes two USB ports for data
transfer, a Wi-Fi interface and smartphone integration enabling the
use of e.g. Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™. Standard equipment for
the new BMW M3 Sedan and new BMW M3 Touring also features a HiFi
speaker system with 10 speakers and a 205-watt amplifier. The optional
telephony with wireless charging enables wireless charging of
compatible smartphones.

Distinctive looks and higher-intensity performance with M
Carbon exterior package, M Race Track package and BMW M Performance Parts.

An M Carbon exterior package specific to each of the new
high-performance cars brings bespoke precision to their outward
appeal. With inlays for the wide front air intakes and a rear diffuser
with unique geometry for each model, plus exterior mirror caps and a
rear spoiler made from CFRP for the BMW M3 Sedan, the M Carbon
exterior package also brings fresh visual sharpness to the race-car
character of the two models. The M Race Track package, which brings M
Carbon ceramic brakes, M Carbon bucket seats for the driver and front
passenger and Carbon Fibre interior trim elements, reduces vehicle
weight by as much as 25 kilograms.

BMW M Performance Parts offer customers additional scope for
tailoring the high-intensity driving experience and dynamic aura of
the new high-performance sports cars to their personal tastes. The
selection of model-specific retrofit options ranges from exterior
components made from CFRP and M Performance forged wheels with centre
lock to M Performance floor mats and M Performance steering wheel trim
for customising the interior.

CO2 EMISSIONS & CONSUMPTION.

Munich. With a brace of victories in the “Best Cars”
competition, BMW has backed up its successful end to 2023 with a
similarly fruitful beginning to 2024. The BMW 2 Series Coupé wrapped
up class victory in the compact segment for the third time in
succession, while the BMW X1 led the way in the “compact SUV”
category. The “Best Cars” award – voted on by readers of German
motoring magazine “auto, motor und sport” and in its 48th edition this
year – is one of the most prestigious in the European automotive
industry. Almost 100,000 respondents took part in the survey,
selecting one overall winner and one “imported car” champion from a
field of 455 models across 13 vehicle categories.

The start of 2024 was also marked by class victory for the new BMW 5
Series Sedan in the “Large Car” category of the “Women's Worldwide Car
of the Year” award. 75 female automotive journalists from 52 countries
picked out their favourites from a total of 62 vehicles in five
categories. Intended to showcase the influence of women in the
automotive industry and presented for the 14th time this year, this
prize takes into account factors such as safety, quality, price,
design, ride comfort, everyday usability and environmental impact. The
new BMW 5 Series Sedan won over the jury members with its electrified
drive system line-up (including the fully electric BMW i5), as well as
its spaciousness, advanced technology and now fully vegan interior.

This successful beginning to the year saw BMW building on its run of
success in a large number of awards in 2023. Models from the premium
brand’s current range claimed numerous prizes in both its home market
of Germany and its most important sales regions internationally. The
winners stretched across all the relevant categories, with compact
models, luxury vehicles and high-performance sports cars from BMW M
GmbH all making waves. As well as vehicles powered by combustion
engines, the readers and juries also recognised a strikingly high
number of representatives from BMW’s constantly expanding electric
mobility range.

“We’re very proud that our various BMW vehicles have won awards in so
many national and international competitions. This also shows that we
have attractive models in all segments that excite people,” says
Jochen Goller, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG, Customer,
Brands, Sales. “The response to our models with all-electric drive
systems is particularly pleasing. This ties in with the strong demand
from customers and supports the BMW Group’s commitment to ramping up
electric mobility in all areas.”

Newcomer to the ranks of high-performance models and a fully
electric Sports Activity Vehicle both win a “Golden Steering Wheel”.

The “Golden Steering Wheel” presented by German publications “Auto
Bild” and “Bild am Sonntag” is one of the most prestigious
distinctions in the European car industry. BMW took two of these
coveted trophies back to Munich in 2023. The BMW M3 Competition
Touring with M xDrive (fuel consumption, combined: 10.4 –
10.1 l/100 km [27.2 – 28.0 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions,
combined: 235 – 229 g/km in the WLTP cycle) ranked first in the
“sports cars” category and the fully electric BMW iX1 topped the
“compact class”.

Both models added a string of other international awards to their
collections over the course of 2023. For example, the first ever
BMW M3 Touring – which combines the dynamic prowess of a
high-performance car with impressive levels of practicality – was
elected sports car of the year in the category for vehicles costing up
to 120,000 euros by readers of “Auto Bild Sportscars” magazine. And
acclaimed British TV programme “Top Gear” honoured the BMW M GmbH
newcomer with the title “All The Car You'll Ever Need” in its “Car of
the Year” awards.

The BMW iX1 collected a trio of awards in China, including
“All-Electric Premium SUV of the Year”. It also won the French
“Automobile Award 2023” in the “Green Tech” category and the “autonis
Award” bestowed by readers of “auto, motor und sport” to the year’s
most attractive new design.

Fully electric BMW i5 enjoys immediate success around the world.

The new BMW 5 Series Sedan and BMW i5 also claimed an “autonis”
prize. Now also available with a fully electric drive system for the
first time, the new edition of the world’s most successful business
sedan was also named “Car of the Year” by Portuguese magazine
“Frontline”. The BMW i5 was also presented with equivalent awards in
Norway and Denmark, both particularly important markets for electric
vehicles. Norwegian daily “Dagbladet” teamed up with online portals
“DinSide” and “Elbi24” to celebrate the BMW i5. While in Denmark, the
i5 fought off competition from six other models to gain the most votes
for “Car of the Year” in a final round made up exclusively of fully
electric models. The jury of 20 Danish motoring journalists chose the
BMW i5 as their winner by a large margin.

Chinese publication “Auto World” crowned the BMW i5 as “Most
Anticipated Premium Executive Sedan of the Year”, and the fully
electric business sedan also collected three awards in Great Britain:
“The Car Expert” put the BMW i5 in top spot in its “Best Large Car
Award”, it was named “Premium Car of the Year” in the “2024
Electrifying.com Awards” and the “Comfortable Cruiser” topped its
class in Carwow’s “Car of the Year Awards 2024”.

The awards underscore the ability of the new BMW i5 Sedan to win
people over with numerous different qualities: from character-rich
design, a unique balance between sportiness and comfort, innovative
equipment features and progressive digital services to a drive system
whose power is matched by its capability over long distances. And it
also uses latest-generation BMW eDrive technology to transfer the
brand’s signature dynamic ability to the road with zero local
emissions. In addition, adaptive recuperation and an intelligent
combination of heat pump technology for heating and cooling the
interior, drive system and high-voltage battery help to give the BMW
i5 eDrive40 Sedan (electric power consumption, combined:
18.9 – 15.9 kWh/ 100 km in the WLTP cycle) a range of 498 –
582 kilometres (309 – 362 miles) in the WLTP cycle.

BMW’s electric mobility offensive is recognised with awards.

The BMW brand’s fully electric model line-up as a whole enjoyed a
successful year worldwide in 2023. As well as the BMW iX1 and BMW i5,
this was particularly true of the BMW i7 and BMW i4. In Great Britain
alone, these two models were both among the winners in seven awards.
Both won the “Auto Express New Car Award” in their respective vehicle
classes. The BMW i4 also claimed the “Pocket-lint Award” and “Business
Car Award”, and the BMW i7 celebrated success in both the “What Car?
Electric Car Awards” and the “What Car? Car of the Year Awards”. The
fully electric luxury sedan racked up five prizes in China, too,
including the “Car of the Year” distinction from leading online
magazine “sohu.com”.

There was also much to celebrate in France and the USA, where the BMW
i7 was given the “Best Overall and Best Value” rating from “Money”
magazine and praised by “wards auto” magazine for its standout luxury
ambience and digital user experience with BMW Theatre Screen in the
rear compartment. Renowned US magazine “car and driver” named both the
BMW i4 M50 (electric power consumption, combined: 22.5 – 18.0 kWh/
100 km in the WLTP cycle) and BMW i4 eDrive40 M50 (electric power
consumption, combined: 19.1 – 16.1 kWh/ 100 km in the WLTP cycle)
among the “Best 10” of 2023.

Top marks and distinctions for the BMW 3 Series and BMW 4
Series ranges, the BMW M2 and the BMW X3.

BMW set the seal on a successful year in Germany with a two-pronged
triumph. The BMW 3 Series and BMW X3 closed out 2023 with class
victory in the coveted “Auto Trophy”. The BMW 3 Series Sedan and BMW 3
Series Touring, for example, took clear victories in the hotly
contested midsize segment of the readers’ survey conducted by German
title “Auto Zeitung”, racking up 19.0 per cent of the vote. This was
the seventh class win in a row for the 3 Series. Meanwhile, the rugged
aura, interior spaciousness and commitment to electrification of the
BMW X3 helped it account for 15.3 per cent of the votes cast and
therefore the highest points total in the high-volume vehicle segment
of “SUVs costing 30,000 – 60,000 euros”.

The BMW 3 Series was a particularly prolific award-winner in Great
Britain. In the “Business Car Awards”, the 3 Series won the “Best
Premium Car” prize, and it also gained entry to the “Hall of Fame” of
“Fleet News” magazine as the “Most Reliable Company Car”. The BMW 3
Series won twice in the “What Car? Used Car Awards”, topping both the
“Used Executive Car” category and overall “Used Car of the Year”. And
then there was the “Best Used Hybrid Executive Car” distinction for
the BMW 330e Sedan (fuel consumption, combined: 1.9 – 1.4 l/100 km
[148.7 – 201.8 mpg imp]; electric power consumption, combined 20.1 –
18.1 kWh/100 km; CO2 emissions, combined: 43 – 32 g/km in
the WLTP cycle). The plug-in hybrid model also tasted success in the
USA, where “Money” magazine described it as “Best for Handling”.

Adding to the wave of success enjoyed by the BMW 3 Series, the BMW 4
Series – with its standout sporting appeal – also enriched the brand’s
glittering international reputation in the premium midsize segment.
The best example of this came in the BMW 4 Series Coupé and BMW 4
Series Convertible’s showing in the “What Car? Car of the Year Awards”
in Great Britain. The closed-roof two-door won the “Coupe of the Year”
for the third year in succession in 2023. And this year its open-top
sister model also won the “Convertible of the Year” award.

Two other British awards were claimed by the BMW M2. It was voted
“Best Performance Car” in “The Car Expert Awards”, and the compact
high-performance sports car also took the title of “Performance Car of
the Year” in the “Auto Express New Car Awards”.

This gives the BMW M3 CS a character profile all of its own: an ability to serve up undiluted M feeling that excites and enthrals over every mile on the road as well as on the track.</pp:summary>

The powertrain concept for the new BMW M3 CS teams a 405 kW/550 hp
six-cylinder in-line engine with an eight-speed M Steptronic
transmission and the M xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system.
These combine to produce a 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) time of 3.4 seconds
and supreme driving talents that can be enjoyed from each of its four
seats. The new BMW M3 CS will be built in a limited run at BMW Group
Plant Munich from March 2023, with its phased launch getting underway
the same month. The USA, Germany, the UK and Japan are the most
important sales regions for the new special-edition model.

More power, less weight, compelling performance.

A more power/less weight formula instils the new BMW M3 CS with
compelling performance qualities and an exclusive aura. It draws its
power from a specially upgraded version of the high-revving
six-cylinder in-line engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology
developed for the BMW M3 and BMW M4 models. This 3.0-litre unit also
forms the basis for the engine that powered the BMW M4 GT3 to the DTM
touring car title at the first time of asking in 2022.

The engine under the bonnet of the new BMW M3 CS therefore also
boasts a wealth of technological details derived directly from the
race-car unit. Its crankcase has a sleeve-free, closed-deck
construction and is extremely rigid, making it suitable for very high
combustion pressures. Weight-saving cylinder bores with a wire-arc
sprayed iron coating reduce frictional losses. The forged lightweight
crankshaft aids power build-up with its exceptionally high torsional
resistance while also feeding the engine’s high-revving instincts. Its
cylinder head has a 3D-printed core, allowing the coolant ducts to be
routed in an optimum arrangement for temperature management that would
be impossible to achieve using conventional metal casting methods. The
system of oil supply is designed to handle the specific challenges of
track use, as is the cooling system.

Straight-six engine produces 405 kW/550 hp.

These carefully tailored modifications reflect the unwavering focus
on achieving high rev speeds and maximum power delivery with the
engine in the new BMW M3 CS. The unit’s considerable upgrade potential
paved the way for a 30 kW/40 hp hike in peak output compared with the
BMW M3 Competition Sedan with M xDrive (fuel consumption combined:
10.1 – 10.0 l/100 km [28.0 – 28.2 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions
combined: 230 – 228 g/km in the WLTP cycle; figures for the NEDC
cycle: – ), resulting in 405 kW/550 hp. This increase in power was
achieved courtesy of targeted revisions to the engine’s M TwinPower
Turbo technology and required no concessions in terms of stability or
durability. The adjustments primarily involved raising the maximum
charge pressure of the two mono-scroll turbochargers from 1.7 to
2.1 bar and making some model-specific tweaks to the engine management.

In addition, a specially designed engine mounting with increased
spring rates creates an extremely rigid connection between the power
unit and the vehicle’s structure. A press of the accelerator is
therefore greeted by even sharper engine response and direct
transmission of its power to the drivetrain. The engine in the new
BMW M3 CS puts peak torque of 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) on tap from just
2,750 rpm and sustains it all the way to 5,950 rpm. It generates
maximum output at 6,250 rpm and tops out at 7,200 rpm.

The unit’s specific performance characteristics are dominated by its
unabated power delivery through to the upper echelons of the rev
range. This is accompanied by the emotionally stirring soundtrack
produced by the dual-branch exhaust system featuring electrically
controlled flaps, a titanium rear silencer with weight-minimising
design and – in customary M fashion – two pairs of tailpipes painted
in matt Black. Selecting the SPORT or SPORT+ modes for the engine
setting in the M Setup menu dials up the drive sound to produce a note
with unmissable racing car undertones. This injects real aural drama
into proceedings, particularly with gear changes and the accompanying
adjustments in rev speed.

Feeding standout power onto the road to optimum effect:
eight-speed M Steptronic transmission, M xDrive, Active M Differential.

The drive torque unleashed by the engine in the new BMW M3 CS is
relayed via an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic.
This is operated using either the M-specific selector lever on the
centre console or the carbon-fibre shift paddles on the steering
wheel. The driver can use the Drivelogic button integrated into the
selector lever to alter the transmission’s shift characteristics, with
the choice of comfort-oriented, sporty and track-optimised settings.

The traction and agility of the new BMW M3 CS are both enhanced by
the presence of M xDrive all-wheel drive, which uses an electronically
controlled multi-plate clutch in the transfer case to ensure fully
variable and super-smooth distribution of the engine’s power between
the front and rear wheels. The multi-plate clutch’s oil supply has
been optimised to keep the all-wheel-drive system performing
effectively even under hard driving on the track. The system’s
rear-wheel bias and the way it teams up with the Active M Differential
at the rear axle – whose operation is also fully variable – add to the
signature M feeling when accelerating or powering through corners.

The M Setup menu lets the driver switch from the default 4WD setting
to 4WD Sport mode, which directs an even greater proportion of the
engine’s torque to the rear wheels. Drivers can also switch off the
DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) system altogether and engage 2WD mode.
By sending drive power solely to the rear wheels and suppressing any
intervention from the control systems to stabilise the vehicle, this
setting engages skilled drivers in the driving experience to an even
more intense degree.

The engine, transmission and M xDrive join forces to produce stunning
acceleration times. The new BMW M3 CS takes just 3.4 seconds to power
from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) and 11.1 seconds to reach 200 km/h
(124 mph) from rest. The midrange surge from 80 to 120 km/h (50 –
75 mph) is over in 2.6 seconds (in 4th gear) or 3.3 seconds (in 5th
gear). The BMW M3 CS comes with the M Driver’s Package as standard and
has an electronically limited top speed of 302 km/h (188 mph).

Bespoke tuning for chassis technology and the DSC system;
track tyres as standard.

The chassis technology in the new BMW M3 CS has been tuned precisely
to the engine’s performance characteristics, the overall vehicle
concept and its weight distribution. The model-specific settings for
the DSC system and M Dynamic Mode have also been purposefully geared
to the specific demands of high-speed circuit driving.

The individually tuned axle kinematics and bespoke wheel camber
settings, dampers, auxiliary springs and anti-roll bars serve to
optimise steering precision, transmission of lateral control forces
when cornering, spring and damping response and wheel location. The
electronically controlled dampers of the adaptive M suspension on the
new BMW M3 CS likewise come in a model-specific setup, as do its
electromechanical M Servotronic steering with variable ratio and its
integrated braking system.

Standard specification for the special-edition model includes
M Compound brakes with brake callipers painted in a choice of Red or
Black. There is also the option of M Carbon ceramic brakes whose brake
callipers are available in matt Gold or Red. Also on the standard
equipment list for the new BMW M3 CS are forged M light-alloy wheels
in an exclusive V-spoke design with a Gold Bronze finish. These
particular M light-alloy wheels can also be ordered in an optional
matt Black finish. Measuring 19 inches in diameter at the front axle
and 20 inches at the rear, the wheels are fitted as standard with
track tyres that have been purpose-developed for the special-edition
model and measure 275/35 ZR19 at the front and 285/30 ZR20 at the
rear. As an alternative to these tyres, which are specially designed
for circuit driving, customers also have the no-cost option of
high-performance tyres with the same dimensions.

Lightweight construction with extensive use of carbon fibre;
improved body rigidity.

Extensive, model-specific lightweight design measures play a major
part in moulding the performance qualities and exclusive character of
the new BMW M3 CS. The use of components made from carbon
fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) both inside and out is of key
importance here. Besides its carbon fibre roof, the special-edition
model also uses this lightweight, high-tech material for its bonnet,
front splitter, front air intakes, exterior mirror caps, rear diffuser
and rear spoiler. Its centre console, the shift paddles on the
steering wheel and its interior trim strips are likewise all
manufactured from CFRP. The standard M Carbon bucket seats also do
their bit to keep weight down in the cabin. The titanium rear
silencer, meanwhile, shaves more than 4 kilograms off the weight of
the exhaust system fitted on the new BMW M3 CS. The various
lightweight design measures bring about a total weight saving of some
20 kilograms compared to the BMW M3 Competition Sedan with M xDrive.

Body rigidity can be further increased by specifying a package of
high-precision strut braces for the engine compartment that have also
been engineered for lightness. The cast aluminium elements connecting
the spring strut towers to the front end feature a weight-optimised
geometry that has been precisely matched – with the help of numerical
models – to the forces applied in various driving situations.

Exclusive design features promise thrilling performance.

The new BMW M3 CS instantly announces its sharper character with a
series of individual design features. The Frozen Solid White paint
finish available for the exterior is exclusive to the latest
special-edition model from BMW M GmbH. Exposed carbon-fibre surfaces
for the roof, the two indents chiselled into the bonnet, the front
splitter, front air intakes, M exterior mirror caps, rear spoiler and
rear apron combine with the Black side skirts and M gills to provide a
stunning contrast to the new paint finish. Signal Green solid,
Brooklyn Grey metallic and Sapphire Black metallic are available as
alternative exterior colours.

The vehicle’s front end sports a weight-saving, frameless BMW kidney
grille with a stripped-back air reminiscent of racing machines.
Designed especially for this model, identifying features include red
contour lines and the “M3 CS” badging on the upper of the two
horizontal grille bars. Both the model badge at the front and its
counterpart on the boot lid have black surfaces with a red border.

The BMW Laserlight headlights included in standard specification add
another particularly striking flourish to the front end of the new
BMW M3 CS. By illuminating yellow instead of white – both during the
Welcome sequence when the vehicle is unlocked and while low beam or
high beam is switched on – they reference successful GT racing cars.

M Carbon bucket seats with exclusive surfaces and seam patterns.

Inside the new BMW M3 CS, a sports car cockpit designed with
concentrated driving pleasure and maximum performance in mind is
brought together with advanced digital technology and exclusive design
elements. The driver and front passenger are welcomed as standard by
M Carbon bucket seats in a model-specific design. Fully electric and
heated, they feature integral head restraints along with an
illuminated model badge, resulting in a unique blend of racing flair
and long-distance comfort. The use of CFRP in the structural elements
of the seat cushion and backrest as well as the eye-catching cut-outs
in the side bolsters and below the head restraints are testimony to
the seats’ weight-minimising construction.

The M Carbon bucket seats in the new BMW M3 CS are upholstered in
Merino leather and feature an exclusive design in a Black/Red colour
scheme with distinctive contrast stitching. This bi-colour finish is
repeated for the two seats in the rear compartment of the sedan. The
door panels are trimmed entirely in Black leather in both the front
and the rear, while red “CS” lettering adorns the lightweight-design
centre console. The standard equipment roster for the new BMW M3 CS
also includes M seat belts with a woven stripe pattern in BMW M GmbH
colours, door sill plates bearing the inscription “M3 CS”, an
Anthracite-coloured headliner, interior trim strips in Carbon Fibre
finish and an M Alcantara steering wheel with CFRP shift paddles and a
red centre marker.

Setup button for customising the car’s configuration.

The M-specific control/operation system includes the Setup button on
the centre console, which enables direct access to the settings
options for the engine, chassis, steering, braking system and
M xDrive. Two individually configured setup variants can be stored
permanently, together with the preferred settings for the engine note,
the DSC system, the Automatic Start/Stop function and the shift
characteristics of the eight-speed M Steptronic transmission, and then
retrieved using the M buttons on the steering wheel.

Also fitted as standard in the new BMW M3 CS is the M Drive
Professional system. Consequently, not only does the special-edition
model benefit from the M Drift Analyser and M Laptimer functions for
evaluating and recording driving skills and performance at the track,
it additionally comes with M Traction Control, whose ten stages
provide the ideal tools for pushing the car hard on closed circuits.

The M Mode button on the centre console – also part of the M Drive
Professional package – can be used to adjust both the level of driver
assistance system activity and the content shown in the information
display and optional Head-Up Display, with a choice of ROAD, SPORT and
TRACK settings.

BMW Curved Display with M-specific read-outs.

The new BMW M3 CS boasts the latest-generation BMW iDrive vehicle
experience based on BMW Operating System 8, which includes the BMW
Curved Display for the cockpit. This is formed by a 12.3-inch
information display and a control display with a screen diagonal of
14.9 inches, which are housed together behind a curved glass surface.
With its ergonomic driver-centric positioning, the BMW Curved Display
makes the already intuitive touch control even more user-friendly.

The information display’s graphical layout and the M‑style content
shown there lend themselves to a focused, performance-led driving
experience. All driving-related data as well as vehicle status and
settings information are neatly arranged within it. The familiar M
Shift Lights appear at the top of the information display, while the
driving stability system, M xDrive and traction control modes are all
indicated at the lower edge. Special widgets containing information on
the current vehicle setup, as well as tyre pressure and temperature
can be added to the control display’s home screen.

Top-class options for added pleasure and comfort during
everyday driving.

The standard BMW Live Cockpit Professional comes with functions
including the BMW Maps navigation system, the BMW Intelligent Personal
Assistant, smartphone integration, telephony with wireless charging
and a WiFi interface. The BMW Head-Up Display with M-specific readouts
and the BMW Drive Recorder are both available as options.

The new BMW M3 CS additionally offers customers a select choice of
comfort features and driver assistance systems, with the focus placed
firmly on the enjoyment of unadulterated driving pleasure. It is
equipped as standard with the latest version of Comfort Access,
two-zone automatic climate control, the Harman Kardon Surround Sound
System, Park Distance Control, Front Collision Warning, Lane Departure
Warning and the Speed Limit Info system. An alarm system, automatic
boot lid operation and the Driving Assistant and Parking Assistant
systems can be added as options.

CO2 EMISSIONS & CONSUMPTION.

BMW M GmbH closes anniversary year with new sales record.

Munich. At the end of its anniversary year, BMW M
GmbH has once again achieved record results. Global sales of
performance and high-performance cars rose to 177,257 vehicles during
the 2022 financial year. This represents an increase of 8.4 per cent
compared to the previous year, despite the continuing challenging
conditions in the area of logistics and supply chains. The most
important single market in 2022 was again the USA, with the second
most important sales region again being the German domestic market,
followed by the UK.

“The enthusiasm of the M community for emotionally powerful
performance on the road and on the racetrack has carried us through
the entire anniversary year,” says Franciscus van Meel, Chairman of
the Board of Management of BMW M GmbH. “This is also expressed in a
new sales record for BMW M automobiles, which gives us a positive
outlook for 2023.”

BMW i4 M50: the best-selling BMW M automobile drives locally
emission-free.
At the same time, 2022 marks BMW M
GmbH's successful start into the age of electric mobility. “The
best-selling BMW M automobile of 2022 is the all-electric BMW i4 M50,”
says Timo Resch, Head of Customer, Brand and Sales at BMW M GmbH. “For
us, this is a clear signal that the unique M feeling has arrived in
the world of electrified vehicles.” The BMW i4 M50 is powered by an
electric motor on both the front and rear axles, which together
generate a maximum output of 400 kW/544 hp. The perfectly coordinated
power delivery of the two e-motors and independent suspension tuning
ensure an M-typical driving experience characterised by dynamics,
agility and precision, which proved to be a real crowd-puller right
from the outset.

With the BMW iX M60*, a second all-electric performance car from BMW
M GmbH made a highly successful debut. During the course of 2023, BMW
M GmbH will continue its product offensive with, among other things,
the first electrified high-performance automobile, the BMW XM, and the
BMW i7 M70, a BMW M automobile based on the fully electric BMW i7. The
further transformation towards electric mobility has also already been
mapped out. In order to be able to include high-performance cars with
purely electric drive in the range in the future, BMW M GmbH will
intensify the corresponding concept testing in 2023. The focus will be
on an integrated driving dynamics control system and an electric M
xDrive all-wheel drive system with four electric motors, which will
ensure that the emotionally powerful M feeling reaches an even higher level.

Anniversary year with spectacular premieres, BMW M3 and BMW M4
remain on the road to success, fast-paced launch for the new BMW
M240i xDrive Coupe*.
The celebrations of the 50th
anniversary of BMW M GmbH were accompanied by debuts for numerous
spectacular new models. The broad spectrum of new releases ranged from
the second generation of the puristic BMW M2*, with its combination of
straight six-cylinder engine, 6-speed manual transmission and
rear-wheel drive, which evokes classic driving pleasure in a
high-performance automobile, to the extroverted BMW XM with its
480 kW/653 hp M HYBRID drive. The first BMW M3 Touring* also offers
completely new ways to experience M-typical performance. This
diversity creates ideal conditions for attracting additional target
groups and generating further growth in 2023.

The current increase in sales figures is also based on sales
successes in a wide range of vehicle segments. The high-performance
sports cars of the BMW M3 and BMW M4 series, which – including the new
BMW M3 Touring – are available in four body variants, in two
performance levels, with a choice of a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed M
Steptronic transmission, as well as with rear-wheel drive or the
all-wheel drive system M xDrive, continued to enjoy particularly
widespread popularity in 2022. BMW M GmbH thus covers a wide range of
customer needs in this core segment.

With an exceptionally strong performance within their competitive
environment, the high-performance cars based on BMW X models also
contributed to BMW M GmbH's new sales record. The upcoming upgrade for
the BMW X5 M and BMW X6 M models in spring 2023 will provide effective
impetus for a continuation of this success story.

The successful launch of the new BMW M240i xDrive Coupe in 2022
proved to be a highlight in the performance car segment. The new
edition of the compact two-door is powered by a 275 kW/374 hp
straight-six engine and is now also available with classic rear-wheel
drive. “The new sales record for BMW M Automobiles is based on our
successful presence in a broad range of vehicle segments,” says Timo
Resch. “With our wide-ranging product portfolio, we are also ideally
positioned for the future.”

Premiere at Daytona: the new BMW M3 CS* and the BMW M Hybrid V8.
In addition, BMW M GmbH fulfils the desire for particularly
concentrated racing characteristics with attractive special models –
as early as 2022 with the BMW M4 CSL* and soon with the new BMW M3 CS.

The BMW M3 CS will make its world debut on the last weekend of
January as part of the 24-hour race at Daytona. The tradition-steeped
competition in the US state of Florida is also the venue for BMW M
Motorsport's comeback to endurance racing. The new BMW M Hybrid V8
will compete there for the first time. 47 years after the Daytona
overall victory of the legendary BMW 3.0 CSL, the new LMDh prototype
is set to race for points in the IMSA GTP class of the WeatherTech
SportsCar Championship before also competing in the official FIA World
Endurance Championship at Le Mans and elsewhere in 2024.

The final phase of the development process and the subsequent test
drives on various race tracks were among the highlights of 2022 for
the BMW M GmbH motorsport department, while the all-important success
on the race track was the overall victory in the DTM drivers' and
teams' championships. South African Sheldon van der Linde and Team
Schubert Motorsport secured the title win in the prestigious touring
car championship in the very first season with the new BMW M4 GT3.

Munich. BMW will be participating in the Essen Motor
Show 2022 with numerous attractions and a diverse programme. Europe's
largest trade fair for tuning, motorsport and sporty production
vehicles will open its doors at the Gruga-Halle grounds from 3 to 11
December 2022. Among other things, BMW will inspire visitors with a
world premiere: In Essen, the new BMW M2 with BMW M Performance
Parts will be on display for the first time.

Furthermore, in addition to current BMW M automobiles, other sporty
retrofit options from the Original BMW accessories range will be
presented at the BMW stand in hall 3. Interviews and autograph
sessions with star guests from the motorsport scene round off the
varied programme at the BMW stand.

Sharpened appearance, enhanced performance: BMW M Performance
Parts for the new BMW M2.

In addition to the sharpened appearance, the customisation options
developed specifically for the new BMW M2 also optimise the impressive
driving characteristics of the high-performance sports car. The
striking add-on parts for the front, rear and sides of the compact
two-door model are made of carbon fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP),
which is sealed with a transparent coating to reveal the typical fibre
structure of the material. Exterior components such as the M
Performance Carbon front attachment, the M Performance Carbon side
skirt attachments, the M Performance Carbon rear diffuser or the M
Performance Carbon rear spoiler underscore the puristic racing genes
of the new BMW M2, whilst also having a positive effect on its
aerodynamic properties.

Sporty, ambitious drivers will also appreciate the wide range of BMW
M Performance Parts in the areas of drive, chassis and cockpit. The M
Performance Titanium silencer system, for example, not only saves
eight kilograms in weight vs. the standard component, but also brings
out the sound of the 338 kW/460 hp straight six-cylinder engine even
more intensively. In the interior, the M Performance interior trims
Carbon/Alcantara, the M Performance armrest Alcantara and many other
high-quality options create a genuine sports car flair, while the M
Performance knee pads Alcantara provide a secure grip even during
sporty, ambitious driving. This allows you to fully enjoy the agility
and cornering dynamics of the M Performance suspension on a closed-off
track - or simply enjoy racing-inspired driving pleasure in everyday life.

Fascinating model range, inspiring discussion partners.

From the current model range of BMW M GmbH, the models on show in
Essen include the first BMW M3 Touring, the BMW M240i Coupe and the
all-electric BMW i4 M50. Another eye-catcher comes directly from the
race track into the exhibition hall: the first M3 Touring MotoGP™
Safety Car. The latest safety car addition from BMW M has been
equipped with the entire product range of BMW M Performance Parts for
its use in the premium class of road motorcycle racing.

The Red Bull Driftbrothers will bring even more performance and
racing aesthetics to Essen. Elias and Johannes Hountondji will be
exhibiting one of their drift cars at the BMW stand: Their racing cars
are based on a production model of the BMW M4 Series. With a
customised exhaust system, custom body kit and an aerodynamics
package, it will amaze not only horsepower enthusiasts. On the first
three days of the fair, visitors will have the opportunity to meet the
Driftbrothers during an autograph session. However, the brothers from
Swabia are not the only celebrity guests: on Saturday, 3 December
2022, BMW M Motorsport works driver Jens Klingmann will welcome
entrepreneur, influencer and TV presenter Jean Pierre Kraemer (JP
Performance) for an interview. The tuning expert will bring along his
BMW M4 CSL, which can be admired at the BMW stand for the entire
duration of the show.

CO2 EMISSIONS & CONSUMPTION.

BMW M GmbH will be focusing its activities at this year’s
Goodwood Festival of Speed (23rd to 26th June) on its 50th birthday
celebrations. BMW M is showcasing numerous models from the past,
present and future to mark the occasion. This includes global debuts
like the one of the first-ever BMW M3 Touring MotoGP™ Safety Car.
Festival visitors will be among the first people able to take a close
look at the newest safety car from BMW M, the ‘Official Car of
MotoGP™’ since 1999. The BMW M3 Touring MotoGP™ Safety Car will also
make its first race appearance in Great Britain, in early August at
the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

The newest member of the safety car fleet is based on the first-ever
BMW M3 Competition Touring with M xDrive (fuel consumption, combined:
10.4 – 10.1 l/100km correspond to WLTP, CO2 emissions,
combined: 235 – 229 g/km correspond to WLTP)*, which is also set to
celebrate its global debut in Goodwood. It combines the high level of
technological capability, performance and know-how of the BMW M3 and
BMW M4 family with the practical nature of a five-door touring model.
Both cars, the series production vehicle and the safety car, will be
unveiled on Thursday 23rd June at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and
will then take place in the renowned hillclimb race on all festival days.

“The world premiere of the new BMW M3 Touring represents another
highlight in our anniversary year, as we will be introducing a BMW M3
as a touring model for the very first time in our 50-year history,”
said Franciscus van Meel, CEO of BMW M GmbH. “Including this new
high-performance automobile in our fleet of MotoGP safety cars is the
obvious next step for us. Throughout our decades of partnership with
MotoGP rights owner Dorna Sports, we have always set great store by
providing the newest BMW M models for safety purposes at the circuit,
and we are continuing this tradition with the BMW M3 Touring MotoGP
Safety Car. We are very much looking forward to seeing it perform at
the legendary Goodwood hillclimb and then appear later in the races at
the top level of motorsport.”

The visual appearance of the new BMW M3 Touring MotoGP™ Safety Car is
a tribute to 50 years of BMW M and to the decades of partnership with
MotoGP™. The safety car will sport a special 50 Years of BMW M Livery,
and all MotoGP™ safety cars from 1999 to the present day are listed on
the car.

The BMW M3 Touring MotoGP™ Safety Car will be equipped with the
entire product range from BMW M Performance Parts for its appearance
on the racetrack. Further modifications to the MotoGP™ safety cars
include Recaro race seats, 4-point harness, safety cross beam, roof
lights, front flashes, emergency disconnector and a fuel extraction system.

Goodwood. All eyes will be on BMW M GmbH at the 2022
Goodwood Festival of Speed, as BMW’s legendary Motorsport division
celebrates five decades of success. Festivalgoers will witness the
world premiere of the first-ever BMW M3 Touring and the UK premiere of
the new BMW M4 CSL, as both take to the hill throughout the
world-famous four-day event. All this against the backdrop of a
striking central feature sculpture on the lawn of Goodwood House,
designed as a homage to 50 years of motorsport excellence as it
showcases some of the most iconic models from BMW M. Elsewhere,
visitors will be able to see – and in some cases, drive – the latest
models from BMW’s exciting range, including the new BMW iX1, i7, i4
and iX M60.

For the first time in its history, the BMW M range will be
complemented by a BMW M3 Touring which is a distillation of the
technological prowess and know-how from the BMW M3 and M4 family,
combined with the practicality of a five-door touring model. This
latest BMW M model will be unveiled at BMW M at Trackside at 10:00 am
(BST) on Thursday 23 June, alongside a high-performance M3 Touring
with Performance Parts, and can then be seen on the Hillclimb in the
‘First Glance’ category every day of the Festival.

Alongside the M3 Touring and BMW M3 Touring MotoGP Safety Car on the
hill will be the new BMW M4 CSL, celebrating its UK premiere. This
ultimate, track-honed, two-seater coupe is defined by a 40hp power
hike over the current BMW M4 Competition Coupé to 550hp, while
meticulous weight-saving measures – including the use of carbon-fibre
for the roof, bonnet and boot lid – achieve a 100kg reduction in
overall weight (in standard specification in the German market). As a
result, the new BMW M4 CSL has recorded the best-ever lap-time for a
BMW road car at the Nürburgring’s Nordschleife circuit.

With BMW M GmbH as the honoured marque, the Central Feature in front
of Goodwood House will present an eye-catching display of BMW M cars
past, present and future. BMW UK will add its legendary BMW 3.0 CSL to
the Central Feature, while BMW Group Classic is providing three
further examples: the BMW M1 Procar from the late 1970s; a WTCC BMW 3
Series E90; the Le Mans winning 1999 BMW V12 LMR. The display is
completed by the BMW M LMDh racecar, that will debut next year.

Besides providing historic BMW M cars for the Central Feature, BMW
Group Classic will bring four additional famous race cars to
Goodwood’s Hillclimb. Pedro Piquet (BRA), son of three-time F1 World
Champion Nelson Piquet, will drive the world’s first turbo-charged F1
World Champion car, the 1983 Brabham BMW BT52.

Steve Soper (UK) will climb the hill in the BMW V12 LMR on Thursday.
He is followed by Markus Flasch (CEO of BMW M GmbH, 2018-2021), who
will be in the driver’s seat on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

HRH Leopold Prince of Bavaria (GER) will drive the sharknose BMW
635CSi and Bruno Spengler (CAN) will drive his famous BMW Z4 GTR which
features the Michel Vaillant Design from the 2015 Spa-Francorchamps
24h race.

For many, BMW M at Trackside will form the focal point for the long
weekend’s celebrations. Crowned by an original BMW M1, the stand will
host iconic models from BMW M’s illustrious past, from the legendary
BMW M3 E30 to the revered BMW M3 CSL E46. They will take their place
alongside a thrilling line-up of modern-day BMW M greats, from the
ultimate 635hp BMW M5 CS and track-honed BMW M4 GT3 to the exclusive
new BMW M850i Convertible and innovative electric BMW i4 M50. Visitors
will be able to catch a glimpse of the future for BMW M, with the
innovative BMW Concept XM, a vision of uncompromising high performance
and extravagant luxury.

The Stable Yard – once again dedicated to BMW’s latest range of
all-electric and electrified models – will offer the chance to see the
stunning BMW i Vision Circular, a concept which illustrates the
company’s determination to become the most sustainable manufacturer.
Optimised for the circular economy and with the goal of achieving 100%
recycled and recyclable material use, the BMW i Vision Circular offers
a view of a compact yet luxurious fully-electric vehicle with a focus
on sustainability for the year 2040.

BMW’s sustainability focus is equally apparent in the new BMW i7, on
display in The Stable Yard following its recent unveiling. The latest
version of the brand’s flagship saloon is set to redefine the luxury
segment with new levels of electrification and digitalisation. Its
state-of-the-art all-electric drivetrain is complemented by a blend of
luxurious interior design and an astonishing entertainment experience,
with the multi-sensory BMW iDrive and unique 31.3-inch 8K BMW Theatre
Screen. These attributes are further displayed in the powerful new BMW
M760e, a plug-in hybrid with 571hp that delivers scintillating
performance yet achieves remarkable efficiency.

The recently revealed BMW iX1 will make its UK debut at Goodwood
Festival of Speed, representing another first at the Stable Yard. The
third-generation BMW X1 features a sharper design, across-the-board
sustainability and cutting-edge digital innovations. Available for the
first time with an all-electric drive system, the BMW iX1 xDrive30 is
set to offer an electric driving range between 257 – 272 miles (WLTP,
provisional figures).

These models will also be joined by the company’s technology
flagship, the new BMW iX M60, a fully-electric Sports Activity Vehicle
that combines emissions-free driving pleasure and sporting agility
with lounge-style luxury and comfort. Powered by two BMW M eDrive
electric motors to provide intelligent BMW xDrive all-wheel-drive
capability, the BMW iX M60 can accelerate from 0-62 mph in a seamless
3.8 seconds, yet still achieve up to 348 miles (WLTP) of driving range
on a single charge.

Members of the public will be able to experience the BMW iX M60’s
searing performance for themselves during Friday’s ‘Electric Only’
Motor Circuit Test Drives, where they’ll also be able to take to the
circuit behind the wheel of the new BMW i4, the brand’s first-ever
fully-electric Gran Coupé, and the practical BMW iX3.

Frank van Meel, CEO of BMW M, said: “There can be no better place to
celebrate our 50th anniversary than among our fans at this year’s
Goodwood Festival of Speed, surrounded by the iconic cars that have
cemented our position in motorsport history. But we’ll also spend our
time at the world-famous event looking to the future, with a selection
of exciting new models from our innovative electrified line-up, and
the global premiere of the eagerly-anticipated first-ever BMW M3 Touring.”

The Goodwood Festival of Speed is being held over four days from
23-26 June 2022.

CO2 EMISSIONS & CONSUMPTION.

Munich. Raised efficiency, an even higher level of
individuality and further digitalisation will make the numerous
current BMW brand models even more attractive as of summer 2022. The
model range of the new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer is being expanded by
two plug-in hybrid variants and a diesel model with intelligent
all-wheel BMW xDrive. Two additional drive variants each will be
offered for the new BMW 2 Series Coupé and the new BMW 4 Series Gran
Coupé from July 2022. Newly designed equipment packages make it easier
to select options for enhancing driving pleasure and comfort in
numerous model series.

The BMW Curved Display will be added to the standard equipment of the
new BMW 2 Series Coupé and the new BMW M3 Sedan in summer 2022. This
means that the latest generation of the BMW iDrive multi-sensory
vehicle experience based on the BMW Operating System 8 has also found
its way into both model series. Further progress in the field of
digitalisation is provided by additional functions for the My BMW App,
the BMW Maps navigation system and the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant.

BMW 2 Series Active Tourer: Premiere for two plug-in hybrid
models and a new diesel engine with 48-volt mild hybrid technology.

The new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer has already been available with a
wide range of drives since it was first launched on the market
equipped combustion engines from the current BMW Group Efficient
Dynamics generation and the latest version of 48-volt mild hybrid
technology. In future, two plug-in hybrid variants of the compact
all-rounder will deliver additional efficiency and driving pleasure.
The hybrid systems of both models combine a 3-cylinder petrol engine
with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology which drives the front wheels with
an electric motor acting on the rear wheels. Like the high-voltage
battery located deep in the vehicle floor, this electric motor
originates from the fifth generation of BMW eDrive technology. The
resulting hybrid-specific all-wheel drive delivers a very high level
of sportiness, driving stability and traction in all driving situations.

The drive of the new BMW 230e xDrive Active Tourer (fuel consumption
combined: 0.8 – 0.6/100 km; combined power consumption:
15.9 – 14.4 kWh/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 18 - 14
g/km according to WLTP; data according to NEDC: - ) generates an
output of up to 240 kW/326 hp (jointly generated by the combustion
engine with up to 110 kW/150 hp and the electric drive with up to 130
kW/177 hp). This means that the more powerful of the two plug-in
hybrid models sprints from a standstill to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds.
Its electric range is 82 to 93 kilometres according to WLTP.

With a maximum output of up to 180 kW/245 hp (jointly generated by
the combustion engine with up to 100 kW/136 hp and the electric drive
with up to 80 kW/109 hp), the plug-in hybrid system of the new BMW
225e xDrive Active Tourer (fuel consumption combined:
0.8 – 0.6/100 km; combined power consumption: 15.8 – 14.2 kWh/100 km;
combined CO<sub>2</sub> emissions: 18 - 14 g/km according to WLTP;
data according to NEDC: - ) accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 6.7
seconds. With values between 83 and 92 kilometres according to WLTP,
it also has a significantly increased electric range compared to the
previous model generation. In addition, the maximum charging capacity
has been doubled when using a wallbox or public charging station. It
is now 7.4 kWh. This allows the high-voltage batteries of the two
plug-in hybrid models to be charged from zero to 100 percent of their
capacity within 2.5 hours.

The third new addition to the drive portfolio is a 2.0-litre
4-cylinder diesel engine combined with 48-volt mild hybrid technology.
The new BMW 223d xDrive Active Tourer (fuel consumption combined:
5.1 – 4.6 kWh/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 133 - 121
g/km according to WLTP; data according to NEDC: - ), delivers a
maximum output of 155 kW/211 hp (generated jointly by the combustion
engine with up to 145 kW/197 hp and the electric drive with up to 14
kW/19 hp) as well as a maximum torque of 400 Nm (generated jointly by
the combustion engine with up to 400 Nm and the electric drive with up
to 55 Nm). The electric motor of the mild hybrid system is integrated
into the 7-speed Steptronic transmission with double clutch and
functions as a crankshaft starter generator. The power of the drive
system is transmitted to the road via BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel
drive. The BMW 223d xDrive Active Tourer takes 7.3 seconds to
accelerate from zero to 100 km/h.

BMW 2 Series Coupé: Two new drive variants, BMW Curved Display
and shifter paddles on the steering wheel now standard.

A new entry-level engine and another BMW Performance automobile from
BMW M GmbH enrich the model range for the new BMW 2 Series Coupé. A
particularly economical way to experience the distinct driving
pleasure of the compact two-door is offered by the new BMW 218 Coupé
(fuel consumption combined: 7.1 – 6.5 litres/100 km; combined
CO2 emissions: 160 - 146 g/km according to WLTP; data
according to NEDC: - ), which is powered by a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder
petrol engine generating a peak output of 115 kW/156 hp and a maximum
torque of 250 Nm. The power is transmitted to the rear wheels via an
8-speed Steptronic transmission. The new BMW 218i Coupé accelerates
from zero to 100 km/h in 8.7 seconds.

The second new model ranges at the highest level of the performance
spectrum. The BMW M240i Coupé (fuel consumption combined: 8.5 – 7.8
litres/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 192 - 177 g/km
according to WLTP; data according to NEDC: - ) embodies the purist
form of driving dynamics typical of the brand in a model of the
premium compact segment. A 275 kW/374 hp inline 6-cylinder petrol
engine is now also combined with classic rear-wheel drive in this
model series. An 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission and an M Sport
differential in the final drive are also involved in transferring
power to the road. This means that the new BMW M240i Coupé reaches the
100 km/h mark from a standstill in 4.7 seconds.

For spontaneous manual intervention in gear selection, the new BMW M
automobile features shift paddles on the steering wheel. From summer
2022, these paddles will also be part of the equipment package of the
8-speed Steptronic transmission, which is standard on all 4-cylinder
models of the BMW 2 Series Coupé. The range's powertrain portfolio now
includes three 4-cylinder petrol engines and one 4-cylinder diesel
engine, as well as the 3.0-litre inline 6-cylinder power unit, which
now delivers fascinating performance in conjunction with both
all-wheel and rear-wheel drive.

Hallmark BMW driver orientation in the cockpit of the BMW 2 Series
Coupé has also been rethought. All model variants of the two-door
model will be equipped with a BMW Curved Display as standard from July
2022. It consists of a 12.3-inch Information Display and a Control
Display with touch function and a screen diagonal of 14.9 inches. This
provides a fully digital and high-resolution display network behind a
common glass surface curved towards the driver. With the BMW Curved
Display and the enhanced capabilities of the BMW Intelligent Personal
Assistant, the user experience in the BMW 2 Series Coupé is now also
consistently oriented towards touch and voice control.

BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé: Sales launch for two more models with
inline 6-cylinder engine.

A new BMW M automobile with traditional performance characteristics
will also join the model range in the BMW 4 Series in summer 2022. The
BMW M440i Gran Coupé (fuel consumption combined: 8.2 – 7.6
litres/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 185 - 172 g/km
according to WLTP; data according to NEDC: - ) will thrill drivers
with its combination of an inline 6-cylinder petrol engine with 275
kW/374 hp and mild hybrid technology, an 8-speed Steptronic Sport
transmission, classic rear-wheel drive and an M Sport differential.
The extremely sporty version of the four-door coupé in the premium
mid-size class sprints from zero to 100 km/h in 5.0 seconds.

In addition, an inline 6-cylinder diesel engine will also be
available for the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé in future. The 3.0 litre
drive unit for the new BMW 430d xDrive Gran Coupé (combined fuel
consumption: 6.0 – 5.5 litres/100 km; combined CO2
emissions: 158 - 145 g/km according to WLTP; data according to NEDC: -
) generates a maximum output of 210 kW/286 hp and a maximum torque of
650 Nm. In this model, too, 48-volt mild hybrid technology enhances
both efficiency and spontaneous power delivery. The impressive pulling
power of the drive, the 8-speed Steptronic transmission and the
intelligent all-wheel drive together enable acceleration from zero to
100 km/h in 5.3 seconds.

For all BMW M automobiles of the BMW 4 Series as well as for the
all-electric BMW i4 M50 (power consumption combined: 22.5 kWh– 18.0
kWh/100 km according to WLTP; CO2 emissions: 0 g/km; data
according to NEDC: - ), an M Sport Package Pro is available from July
2022, including an extended M High Gloss Shadow Line, M Shadow Line
lights, an M sports brake system with red brake callipers and M seat
belts. In addition, the range of paint finishes for the BMW 4 Series
Coupé and BMW 4 Series Convertible is supplemented by the Skyscraper
Grey metallic variant.

Specific customisation thanks to new equipment packages.

High-quality options from the range of special equipment available ex
works for numerous model series will be combined in new,
model-specific configured packages for summer 2022. They enable
customers to individualise their cars in specific focus areas. For
example, a Travel Package and a Comfort Package are available for the
BMW 2 Series Active Tourer.

An Innovation Package and a Comfort Package are offered for the BMW 2
Series Coupé. The choice will be particularly varied for the BMW 1
Series and for the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé, which will be rolling off
the production line from July 2022 with a Premium Package, a Travel
Package, an Innovation Package, a Comfort Package and a Comfort
Package Professional, as well as an M Sport Pro model.

New options for BMW 5 Series, BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo, BMW
X5 and BMW X6, BMW Z4 with extended standard equipment.

An M Sport Package Pro will also be available in future for the BMW 5
Series Sedan, BMW 5 Series Touring and BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo. It
is offered as a supplement to the respective model-specific M sports
package and includes paddle shifters on the steering wheel for the
entry-level models of the BMW 5 Series and an 8-speed Steptronic Sport
transmission for all other models, as well as an extended M high-gloss
Shadow Line, an M sports brake system with red brake callipers and M
seat belts. The BMW 5 Series models also receive the M Shadow Line
lights, while the BMW 5 Series Sedan also features a black M rear
spoiler. New to the range of paint finishes is the Skyscraper Grey
metallic variant, while the new Arctic Race Blue metallic paint finish
is also available for the BMW 5 Series.

The models in the BMW X5 and BMW X6 series will feature Sensafin
decor-quilted interior trim as standard from summer 2022. The newly
developed surfaces are available in five colour variants and have
leather-like properties as well as a further refined look and feel.

Extended standard equipment makes the BMW Z4 even more appealing. The
Roadster now already features the BMW Live Cockpit Professional as
standard. It includes a fully digital instrument cluster and a Control
Display with a screen diagonal of 10.25 inches each, as well as the
Connected Package Professional.

BMW Curved Display and Innovation Package for the BMW M3
Sedan, M Graphics for the BMW M4 Coupé.

BMW Operating System 8 and the latest generation of BMW iDrive,
including BMW Curved Display, will also be standard equipment for BMW
M3 Sedan models from July 2022. The four-door high-performance sports
car can also be optionally equipped with an Innovation Package, a
Wireless Charging Tray for suitable smartphones, a Personal eSim, an
instrument panel in Sensatec finish and M interior trims in Aluminium
Rhombicle Anthracite. The BMW Individual paint finish Frozen Pure Grey
metallic is also available as a new colour.

A further way of highlighting the performance character of the BMW M4
Coupé models even more intensively is provided by the new M graphics
for the engine compartment and luggage compartment lides. The contour
lines in high-gloss black and the BMW M GmbH brand logo on the engine
compartment give the exterior of the vehicles a particularly
expressive touch.

My BMW App, BMW Maps navigation system and BMW Intelligent
Personal Assistant with extended functions.

Driving pleasure and comfort are enhanced in all models already
equipped with BMW Operating System 8 thanks to new digital services.
As of summer 2022, both the BMW Maps navigation system and the BMW
Intelligent Personal Assistant will feature new functions and enhanced
capabilities. In addition to new map displays, the navigation system
offers proactive traffic information on frequently used routes even
when the route guidance is not activated. Calculating a
charging-optimised route for all-electric models is now around four
times faster than before. The driver receives more detailed
information about the route and the planned charging stops, and can
also specify the desired state of charge when reaching the
destination. In order to make charging the high-voltage battery more
convenient at public charging stations, the functions of the BMW
Charging App will also be integrated into the My BMW App in future. In
addition to logging the vehicle in at the charging station, this also
allows the charging cable to be unlocked via the My BMW app, among
other things.

In future,a further developed charging software for purely
electrically driven models will enable the storage of charging
profiles for frequently used power sources. In order to increase
efficiency when charging, your high-voltage battery can be preheated
to an optimal temperature for fast charging with direct current while
still on the road. Up to now, this preconditioning has been carried
out automatically if the route planned by the navigation system
includes a stopover at a fast-charging station. In future, preheating
of the battery can be activated manually by the driver even when the
navigation system has not been programmed with a route.

The registration process for the ConnectedDrive Account will be
simplified from July 2022. In conjunction with BMW Operating System 8,
it is no longer necessary to manually enter the 17-digit vehicle
identification number to register a new vehicle. In the cockpit of BMW
M cars, the BMW Operating System 8 will feature an M specific user
interface in future. In the BMW iX and the BMW i4, the additional
Augmented View display, which can be used with BMW Live Cockpit
Professional, is also shown in the Information Display.

The BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, in conjunction with the BMW
Operating System 8, will feature even more advanced capabilities as of
summer 2022. The digital companion and vehicle expert can proactively
make contextual suggestions to the driver on how to use functions. In
future, these will also relate to Active Cruise Control with Stop
& Go function, Parking Assistant, the eDrive Zone service and the
option to test additional functions from the BMW ConnectedDrive Store.
In addition, the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant provides the
driver with explanations of numerous other functions of his vehicle
that he has not used so far.

Munich. For the third time in a row, BMW M GmbH ended
the financial year as the global market leader in the performance and
high-performance car segment. Indeed, the company posted record sales
once again in 2021. A total of 163,542 BMW M cars were delivered to
customers worldwide last year, a 13 percent increase on 2020.

This growth was spread equally between the High-Performance sports
cars and Performance cars made by BMW M GmbH, with both product
categories raising their sales figures to a new level. “This success
is the perfect start to our anniversary year,” says Franciscus van
Meel, CEO of BMW M GmbH. “M is in a stronger position than ever as it
celebrates its 50th birthday.”

New BMW M3 and new BMW M4 enjoy immediate success.

The biggest drivers of growth among the High-Performance sports cars
were the new BMW M3 and BMW M4 models introduced in spring 2021.
Fuelled by a vehicle concept focused squarely on emotionally charged
dynamism and unprecedented diversity in the model range, the new BMW
M3 Sedan (fuel consumption combined: 10.2 – 10.0 l/100 km [27.7 – 28.3
mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 231 – 227 g/km as per
WLTP), new BMW M4 Coupé (fuel consumption combined: 10.1 – 9.9 l/100
km [28.0 – 28.5 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined:
230 – 226 g/km as per WLTP) and new BMW M4 Convertible (fuel
consumption combined: 10.2 l/100 km [27.7 mpg imp]; CO2
emissions combined: 233 – 231 g/km as per WLTP) got off to an
extremely successful start. The latest model generation is the first
to offer customers two output levels topping out at 375 kW/510 hp, the
M xDrive all-wheel-drive system and a choice of either a six-speed
manual gearbox or the eight-speed M Steptronic transmission.

“The response to the new generation of the BMW M3 and BMW M4 has been
simply overwhelming,” reports Timo Resch, Vice President Customer,
Brand and Sales at BMW M GmbH. “We can therefore expect demand for
these iconic sports cars to continue on an upward curve in 2022.”

Also making a powerful contribution to the latest rise in
High-Performance model sales at BMW M GmbH were the BMW X5 M
Competition (fuel consumption combined: 13.6 – 13.3 l/100 km [20.8
– 21,2 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 308 – 303 g/km as
per WLTP) and BMW X6 M Competition (fuel consumption combined:
13.4 – 13.1 l/100 km [21.1 – 21.6 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions
combined: 305 – 299 g/km as per WLTP). Following the successful market
launch of the latest model generation the previous year, the
charismatic High-Performance sports cars in the Sports Activity
Vehicle and Sports Activity Coupé segment – both powered by a 460
kW/625 hp V8 engine – increased their sales figures once again in 2021.

Alluring and in demand: the BMW M models in the BMW 4 Series range.

The dynamic excellence, agility and precision for which M is renowned
also enabled the brand’s Performance models to delight and excite a
wide range of customers over the past year. Credit for the latest
boost to sales goes above all to the M models based on the new BMW 4
Series. Particularly popular were the variants of the new BMW 4 Series
Coupé, whose line-up consists of the BMW M440i Coupé (fuel consumption
combined: 8.1 – 7.4 l/100 km [34.8 – 38.2 mpg imp]; CO2
emissions combined: 184 – 167 g/km as per WLTP) and BMW
M440i xDrive Coupé (fuel consumption combined: 8.2 – 7.5 l/100 km
[34.5 – 37.7 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined:
186 – 170 g/km as per WLTP) powered by a 275 kW/374 hp six-cylinder
in-line petrol engine, and the BMW M440d xDrive Coupé (fuel
consumption combined: 6.3 – 5.7 l/100 km [44.8 – 49.6 mpg imp];
CO2 emissions combined: 165 – 150 g/km as per WLTP), whose
six-cylinder in-line diesel unit produces 250 kW/340 hp.

The latest BMW X models within the ranks of M’s Performance cars also
proved extremely desirable. Indeed, the BMW X3 M40i powered by a
six-cylinder in-line engine with 265 kW/360 hp (fuel consumption
combined: 9.5 – 8.8 l/100 km [29.7 – 32.1 mpg imp]; CO2
emissions combined: 216 – 199 g/km as per WLTP) and the BMW X7 M50i
(fuel consumption combined: 12.8 – 12.3 l/100 km [22.1 – 23.0 mpg
imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 292 – 280 g/km as per WLTP)
with its 390 kW/530 hp V8 unit both posted an increase in new registrations.

Looking ahead to an anniversary year brimming with highlights.

BMW M GmbH will continue its product offensive in this anniversary
year with the addition of new High-Performance and Performance models.
Highlights include the new BMW M240i xDrive Coupé (fuel consumption
combined: 8.8 – 8.1 l/100 km [32.1 – 34.9 mpg imp]; CO2
emissions combined: 200 – 185 g/km as per WLTP) and the arrival later
in the year of the first BMW M3 Touring and an exclusive
special-edition model based on the new BMW M4 Coupé.

In addition, the BMW Group subsidiary – which was founded as BMW
Motorsport GmbH in May 1972 and enjoys the status of an independent
manufacturer – will also drive the transformation to electric
mobility. Following in the tyre tracks of the BMW i4 M50 (electric
power consumption combined: 22.5 – 18.0 kWh/100 km as per WLTP;
CO2 emissions combined: 0 g/km) in the first half of 2022
will be the likewise fully electric BMW iX M60 (projected electric
power consumption combined: 24.7 – 21.7 kWh/100 km as per WLTP;
CO2 emissions combined: 0 g/km).

The most powerful BMW M model ever made points the way to the
future of the brand.

The anniversary year will be crowned by the start of production of
the BMW XM. The most powerful BMW M car ever to go into series
production is also the brand’s first High-Performance model to employ
a plug-in hybrid drive system. Its newly developed M Hybrid technology
brings together a V8 engine and a high-performance electric motor to
develop maximum output of 550 kW/750 hp and peak torque of 1,000 Nm
(737 lb-ft). The design of the BMW XM majors on presence and extrovert
appeal and in so doing sends out a clear statement in the luxury segment.

“Our first standalone model since the legendary BMW M1 represents a
complete re-imagining of the high-performance car segment,” says van
Meel. “The BMW XM blends expressive design and progressive interior
luxury with an incomparable driving experience that serves up both
sublime performance and the ability to glide along in near silence in
all-electric mode. In so doing, it provides an inimitable expression
of poise and assurance, and at the same time points the way to the
future of our brand.”

CO2 EMISSIONS & CONSUMPTION.

Launch of the additional model variants gets underway in July 2021.</pp:summary>

Munich. More performance, more driven wheels, more
inimitable M feeling. Just a few months after the new BMW M3 Sedan and
BMW M4 Coupé went on sale, BMW M GmbH is adding another two variants
to the model line-up by offering the M xDrive all-wheel-drive system
for the high-performance sports cars in the premium midsize segment
for the first time. Precisely channelling the engine’s power to all
four wheels brings supreme dynamic prowess to the BMW M3 Competition
Sedan with M xDrive (fuel consumption combined: 10.1 – 10.0 l/100 km
[28.0 – 28.2 mpg imp] in the WLTP cycle; CO2 emissions combined: 231 –
228 g/km in WLTP) and BMW M4 Competition Coupé with M xDrive (fuel
consumption combined: 10.1 – 10.0 l/100 km [28.0 – 28.2 mpg imp] in
WLTP; CO2 emissions combined: 230 – 227 g/km in WLTP).

The power from the 375 kW/510 hp straight-six engine fitted in the
new models is directed via an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission
with Drivelogic. The M-specific all-wheel-drive system then divides it
between the front and rear wheels as required to enhance agility,
directional stability, traction and track-focused dynamics at all
times. This allows the driver to experience an intoxicating
interpretation of the hallmark M performance characteristics
reflected, among other things, in even quicker acceleration. The
launch of the BMW M3 Competition Sedan with M xDrive and BMW M4
Competition Coupé with M xDrive will get underway in July 2021.

M xDrive and Active M Differential for superior handling
dynamics.
The M xDrive system’s specially tuned power
transmission control already provides a smile-inducing alternative to
classical rear-wheel drive for a host of high-performance models from
BMW M GmbH. Teaming up with the all-wheel-drive system is the Active M
Differential, which also ensures fully variable distribution of drive
torque between the rear wheels as the situation demands. This helps to
transfer the drive torque to the road without any loss of power,
especially when the car is being pushed hard or has less grip on one
side. The M xDrive system and the Active M Differential – complete
with its integrated M-specific traction control – link up with the
Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) system to ensure precisely judged
interaction for the driving situation at hand. The clear aim here is
to produce a supremely dynamic driving experience blending the
customary M feeling with noticeably enhanced traction and directional stability.

The M xDrive system uses an electronically controlled multi-plate
clutch in the transfer case for smoothly adjustable, fully variable
distribution of drive torque between the front and rear wheels. The
multi-plate clutch’s oil supply has been optimised to keep the
variable power splitting mechanism performing effectively even under
hard driving on the track. The task of transmitting power to the front
and rear differentials is handled by driveshafts engineered
specifically for the BMW M3 Competition Sedan with M xDrive and BMW M4
Competition Coupé with M xDrive. The output shafts that relay the
drive torque to the wheels are likewise bespoke items. The
all-wheel-drive system has a rear-biased setup in classic M style.
Normally, the drive power is channelled entirely rearwards, with the
front wheels only being brought into play when the rears cannot feed
any more power to the road.

The transfer case features a bespoke control unit and integrated
wheel slip limitation. This enables it to compensate for any
differences in rotational speed between the front and rear wheels
exceptionally quickly without having to involve the central DSC
management. This results in enhanced all-wheel-drive performance whose
principal effect is to further intensify the sense of unshakable poise
for which M models are renowned in highly dynamic driving situations,
such as powering through corners in a controlled drift.

The improvements in traction, handling stability, agility and
dynamism brought about by the combination of M xDrive and Active M
Differential also translate into superior sprinting ability. The BMW
M3 Competition Sedan with M xDrive and BMW M4 Competition Coupé with M
xDrive both need just 3.5 seconds to reach the 100 km/h (62 mph) mark
from standstill, making them 0.4 seconds quicker here than their
rear-wheel-drive equivalents.

The dynamic transmission of power to the road in the BMW M3
Competition Sedan with M xDrive and BMW M4 Competition Coupé with M
xDrive takes place via standard M light-alloy wheels measuring 19
inches in diameter at the front axle and 20 inches at the rear. The
forged wheels in twin-spoke design with a Jet Black finish are fitted
with tyres measuring 275/35 R19 at the front and 285/30 R20 at the
rear. Specially designed track tyres with the same dimensions are also
available as an option.

Major technical modifications optimise performance
characteristics.
The all-wheel-drive technology in the
new BMW M3 Competition Sedan with M xDrive and BMW M4 Competition
Coupé with M xDrive is complemented by a double-joint spring strut
front axle redesigned for these models and featuring specially adapted
front axle geometry and an individually tuned steering ratio. These
extensive bespoke modifications for the all-wheel-drive system ensure
that both the existing pure rear-wheel-drive variants and their new M
xDrive siblings stand out with their engineered-without-compromise,
signature M steering characteristics. The all-wheel-drive models
additionally benefit from a specially adapted version of the engine
oil supply system designed to handle extremely dynamic performance.

Three M xDrive modes enable a customised M
feeling.
M xDrive also allows the driver to tailor the
all-wheel-drive system’s characteristics and performance to the
driving situation and their individual preferences. The desired
setting can be selected directly from the Setup menu of the M-specific
operating system, where there is a choice of three different power
transmission modes. In the default 4WD setting, the all-wheel-drive
system offers maximum traction and precisely controllable handling
while maintaining a distinctly rear-biased power split at all times.
Activating 4WD Sport mode directs an even greater proportion of the
engine’s torque to the rear wheels, even in extremely dynamic driving
situations, resulting in sharper agility. The linear build-up of
lateral forces so characteristic of M models now also makes it
possible to execute controlled drifts. Drivers can also switch off the
DSC system altogether and engage 2WD mode, where drive power is
relayed solely to the rear wheels. If the optional M Traction Control
is fitted, traction can be finely adjusted through ten stages in this
setting in the same way as on the rear-wheel-drive models. This form
of power transmission without any intervention from the chassis
control systems to stabilise the vehicle allows seasoned drivers to
enjoy a driving experience of remarkable purity and hone their skills
with the help of the optional M Drift Analyser.

Drivers can set and store their preferred M xDrive mode as part of
the two individual M1 and M2 configurations, together with the
settings for engine characteristics, damper response, steering
characteristics, braking system and other parameters. Either
configuration can then be called up instantly at any time by pressing
one of the two M buttons on the steering wheel.

Individual M feeling: six models each with their own
character.
By adding two all-wheel-drive model variants
to the range, BMW M GmbH now offers an unrivalled variety of
high-performance midsize models. The BMW M3 Sedan (fuel consumption
combined: 10.2 – 9.9 l/100 km [27.7 – 28.5 mpg imp] in the WLTP cycle;
CO2 emissions combined: 231 – 226 g/km in WLTP) and BMW M4 Coupé (fuel
consumption combined: 10.2 – 9.9 l/100 km [27.7 – 28.5 mpg imp] in
WLTP; CO2 emissions combined: 231 – 226 g/km in WLTP) offer a unique
selling point over their rivals in their combination of rear-wheel
drive and a six-speed manual gearbox. Drive power in the BMW M3
Competition Sedan (fuel consumption combined: 9.8 – 9.6 l/100 km [28.8
– 29.4 mpg imp] in WLTP; CO2 emissions combined: 224 – 219 g/km in
WLTP) and BMW M4 Competition Coupé (fuel consumption combined: 9.8 –
9.6 l/100 km [28.8 – 29.4 mpg imp] in WLTP; CO2 emissions combined:
224 – 219 g/km in WLTP) is likewise directed to the rear wheels, here
via an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic.

This quartet is now joined by the newly arrived BMW M3 Competition
Sedan with M xDrive and BMW M4 Competition Coupé with M xDrive. This
means the latest model generation already spans six vehicles with
distinct characters, each providing their own individual recipe for a
sublime high-performance sports car offering unrestricted everyday
usability. And customers will soon find even greater scope for
matching M’s distinctive approach to high-performance driving with
their personal style when the new edition of the BMW M4 Convertible
joins the model range later this year.

CO2 EMISSIONS & CONSUMPTION.

Munich. With yet another new sales record, the BMW M
GmbH continued to grow also in the 2020 fiscal year. Despite the
effects of the Corona pandemic on the market, it was possible to
increase the number of BMW M automobiles sold by 6 percent to
144,218 units. Thanks to this result, the subsidiary company of the
BMW Group with the status of an independent company has significantly
strengthened its market leadership within the competitive environment
first gained in 2019. “The fact that we were able to conclude this
exceptionally challenging year with yet a further record is great
validation of our consistent growth strategy,” says Markus Flasch, CEO
BMW M GmbH. “We can be particularly proud of the fact that we were
able not only to defend our market dominance as the most successful
provider of performance and high-performances automobiles, but also to
have even expanded it.”

The further increase in sales figures was due, inter alia, to the
successful market launch of the models BMW X5 M (combined fuel
consumption: 13.1 – 12.6 l/100 km according to WLTP, 13.0 – 12.8 l/100
km according to NEDC; combined CO2 emissions: 298 – 287
g/km according to WLTP, 296 – 287 g/km according to NEDC) and BMW X6 M
(combined fuel consumption: 13.4 – 13.1 l/100 km according to WLTP,
13.1 l/100 km according to NEDC; combined CO2 emissions:
305 – 300 g/km according to WLTP, 301 g/km according to NEDC). With V8
power units delivering up to 460 kW/625 hp, BMW M automobiles from the
Sports Activity Vehicle and Sports Activity Coupe segment offer a
particularly characteristic high-performance experience. Likewise, the
special edition model BMW M2 CS (combined fuel consumption:
10.1 – 9.2 l/100 km according to WLTP, 10.4 – 9.4 l/100 km according
to NEDC; combined CO2 emissions: 229 – 210 g/km according
to WLTP, 238 – 214 g/km according to NEDC), which serves as the basis
for a new competition vehicle from BMW Motorsport, has also received a
positive response. In the high-performance model sector alone, it was
possible to increase the number of worldwide deliveries by 4 percent
vs. the year 2019.

Moreover, it was predominantly the performance automobiles developed
for the new BMW 3 Series and the new BMW 4 Series that helped boost
the sales of the BMW M GmbH so decisively. With powerful straight
six-cylinder petrol and diesel power plants, specific suspension
tuning and stand-alone design features, the top-of-the-range offer for
the BMW 3 Series Sedan, the BMW 3 Series Touring and the BMW 4 Series
Coupe also guarantees that characteristic M experience in the premium
mid-range segment, coupled with unrestricted suitability for everyday
use and long distances.

Growing demand in all relevant markets.

Technology transferred from motor racing, precisely coordinated
features in the areas of drive systems, suspension, aerodynamics,
interior design and operation as well as the resulting authentic
character of BMW M automobiles, create a fascination, which continued
in 2020 to captivate an increasing number of performance-oriented
customers throughout the world. For example, in the USA, the most
important market for BMW M automobiles, as well as in China, new
records were achieved. In both Russia and Korea, it was possible to
increase sales by more than 60 percent, and in Italy by 47 percent.
And in the UK, too, the number of vehicles delivered exceeded our
expectations. “We notice a steadily growing demand in all relevant
markets for BMW M automobiles,” explains Thomas Felbermair, head of
Sales and Marketing at BMW M GmbH. “Because of this and thanks to the
engagement of our strong dealer network, we have been outstandingly
successful in coping with the challenges posed by the pandemic.”

Ready to go: BMW M5 CS, BMW M3 Sedan and BMW M4 Coupe.

Looking towards the future, the initial focus shifts to the world
premiere of the BMW M5 CS, which will take place in January 2021. A
special edition of the BMW M5 will then be available for the first
time – with outstanding performance and exclusive motorsport
characteristics. Following that, the main focus will be on the market
launch of the new BMW M3 Sedan starting in March 2021 (combined fuel
consumption: 10.6 – 10.3 l/100 km according to WLTP, 10.8 l/100 km
according to NEDC; combined CO2 emissions: 241 – 236 g/km
according to WLTP, 248 g/km according to NEDC) and the new
BMW M4 Coupe (combined fuel consumption: 10.5 – 10.3 l/100 km
according to WLTP, 10.8 l/100 km according to NEDC; combined
CO2 emissions: 240 – 235 g/km according to WLTP, 248 g/km
according to NEDC). The two high-performance automobiles represent the
essence of that unmistakable M feeling. Immediately after their world
premiere, the new model generation aroused keen interest around the globe.

In future, the wishes of the M Community will be fulfilled by
extraordinary diversity: Each variant with classic manual shift will
be complemented by a Competition model featuring an 8-speed M
Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic. Moreover, in the summer of
2021, the four-wheel drive system M xDrive will be added for the first
time to the drive portfolio for the BMW M3 and the BMW M4. And the
BMW M4 Convertible will also be launched in time for the warm season.
On the other hand, the first BMW M3 Touring is still undergoing the
series development process.

A glance into the future: continued growth, new M feeling
through electrification, and an anniversary.

“It is remarkable that it was possible to achieve the new sales
record even before the launch of our most important models,” says
Markus Flasch. “The new BMW M3 and BMW M4 generation offers us the
promise of dynamic growth in 2021 as well.” Moreover, he now also
looks forward to presenting a completely new manifestation of the
distinctive M feeling. Electrification will provide the basis for
this. During the year 2021, the BMW M GmbH will be presenting an
electrically powered performance automobile for the first time.

With this setting of agenda with which the “Power of Choice” strategy
has been realised within the model range of the BMW M GmbH, and an
exceptionally strong product range, the company is heading full of
optimism for the forthcoming anniversary year. 2022 will be the year
in which the BMW M GmbH celebrates 50 years of its existence. Markus
Flasch has already announced “a year full of surprises”: “If I mention
the keyword special edition models, it should be clear what our
customers can look forward to during the anniversary year.”

CO2 EMISSIONS & CONSUMPTION.

Munich. This week sees the start of series production
of the new BMW M3 at BMW Group Plant Munich. 35 years after the debut
of the very first BMW M3, BMW M GmbH presented the latest generation
of its high-performance cars in the premium mid-size segment in
September: the new BMW M3 and the new BMW M4. Earlier this week,
series production started at the BMW Group plant in Munich. “We are
very pleased to be producing the new BMW M3 at our parent plant going
forward,” commented Plant Director Robert Engelhorn. “It’s such an
iconic car and has many fans among our team at the plant, me included.”

The arrival of the new BMW M3 completes the 3 Series range at the
Munich plant. From the 3 Series Sedan and 3 Series Touring to the M3,
including all plug-in hybrid, petrol and diesel engines – all models
and drive variants are made on the same line. “The integration of the
M3 went absolutely smoothly. We benefitted from the vast experience
gained with previous generations of BMW M vehicles,” explained Robert
Engelhorn. The BMW M4 was produced in Munich until well into the
spring; it has now found its new home at the Dingolfing plant. This
has meant that the stand-alone assembly process for the CFRP roof of
the M4 Coupe, for example, could also be adopted for the new M3. At
the Munich plant’s in-house seat production where the newly developed
M carbon bucket seats are manufactured, on the other hand, totally new
manual workflows are being introduced. The hood and the side panels of
the M3 are also handcrafted and assembled manually.

The market launch of the new BMW M3 and the BMW M4 Coupe will begin
in March 2021. In addition to the stand-alone vehicle concepts of a
sedan with room for five passengers and a four-seater coupe, the drive
technology also offers room for individuality: Both new BMW M models
are powered by a high-revving inline-six engine with M TwinPower Turbo
technology and with two different power delivery levels available. A
unique option in the segment is that the high-performance sports cars
can be equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission. Other options
include an 8-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic and the
intelligent M xDrive all-wheel drive system as an alternative to the
traditional rear-wheel drive. For the first time in the history of the
BMW M3 and BMW M4 models, an all-wheel drive system will be available
from summer 2021 onwards.

Munich. With numerous innovations in the areas of
drive, brake and suspension systems, the new BMW M3 Sedan and the new
BMW M4 Coupé (fuel consumption combined: 10.8 l/100 km [26.2 mpg imp];
CO2 emissions combined: 248 g/km) and the new BMW M3 Competition Sedan
and the new BMW M4 Competition Coupé (fuel consumption combined: 10.2
l/100 km [27.7 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 234 g/km) will soon
set new benchmarks in the segment of high-performance sedans and
coupes. Their newly developed, straight six-cylinder engines are
performance-enhanced vs. the previous generation and provide the basis
for this. Two performance levels are available: In addition to a 353
kW/480 hp variant with 6-speed manual shift, each model will also go
on sale as a Competition model delivering 375 kW/510 hp and featuring
an 8-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic. The M TwinPower
Turbo Technology and the high-revving concept featured by the power
units impress with performance characteristics derived directly from
motor racing – without restricting the traditionally high level of
everyday suitability of BMW M models. In order to emphasise the motor
racing DNA of the new BMW M3 Sedan and the new BMW M4 Coupé even more,
an extensive range of M Performance Parts will also be available at
market launch of the two models in March of next year. They facilitate
advanced individualisation of the vehicles’ striking design and
further enhancement of their dynamic handling qualities.

The high-quality range of accessories was developed in collaboration
with the BMW M GmbH based on experience gained on the world’s
racetracks and the extensive know-how of their motorsport specialists.
The components, which have been specifically aligned to the character
of both the new BMW M3 Sedan and the new BMW M4 Coupé, sharpen their
extremely sporty appearance even further. Moreover, for the most part,
they also fulfil functional requirements in terms of lightweight
construction and aerodynamics – thus noticeably enhancing the
excellent dynamic characteristics of both high-performance models.

Suspension and sound even more closely linked to motorsport.
A perfect example of how M Performance Parts usually
not only further sharpen a car’s looks but also its performance is
demonstrated by the M Performance silencer system, titanium. The
lightweight exhaust system with flap control, developed specifically
for M models and based on experience gained from motor racing, weighs
around five kilograms less than the mass-produced component and also
provides for an even sportier driving experience thanks to optimised
exhaust gas routing. The highly emotionalising sound, which is similar
to that experienced in motorsport, has been adapted to the individual
driving programs. The four titanium, ceramic-coated tailpipe trims
provide for an unmistakeably striking appearance.

The M Performance sports suspension was developed and tuned on
various different racetracks and is also directly associated with
motor racing. The coilover suspension permits an infinitely variable
reduction of ride height of between five and twenty millimetres
(recommended lowering -10 mm vs. the M base model). With unchanged
damper adjustment, the driver benefits from a lower centre of gravity,
reduced rolling movement and even higher cornering speeds. In addition
to increased dynamics, lowering also enhances the sporty looks.

Directly derived from the BMW Motorsport long-distance brake pads, M
Performance sports brake pads guarantee shorter braking distances,
better response characteristics and high thermal resistance. Drivers
in particular who frequently also wish to explore the performance
potential of their BMW M3 Sedan or M4 Coupé on the racetrack, will be
thrilled, among other things, with the vehicle’s exceptionally dynamic
steering behaviour when braking before a bend compared to the standard configuration.

High-tech material carbon
sharpens looks even further.
The high-tech material carbon is characterised by a high degree
of rigidity and stiffness whilst being extremely light. Consequently,
carbon fibre reinforced plastic is used above all in many areas of
motorsport, where visible carbon components fascinate with the mesh
structure that is so characteristic of this material. Not least for
this reason, M Performance exterior components exude a high degree of
motorsport atmosphere – and are perfectly suitable for effectively
sharpening the sporty looks of the BMW M3 Sedan and the BMW M4 Coupé
even further. For example, the M Performance carbon front attachment,
the M Performance carbon front splitter and the carbon M Performance
Aero Flicks provide for a particularly striking look. Viewed from the
side, the M Performance carbon air breathers set an eye-catching
accent and M Performance carbon side skirt trims make the vehicle
appear longer. At the rear, the M Performance carbon rear winglets and
the distinctive M Performance carbon rear spoiler add the perfect
finishing touches to the vehicle’s appearance.

All this is topped by the M Performance carbon rear diffuser combined
with the M Performance titanium silencer system and the M Performance
titanium tailpipe trim module with ceramic coating and black matt
finish. The M Performance carbon/titanium tailpipe trims also offer a
sporty option for individualising the standard exhaust system of the
BMW M3 Sedan and the BMW M4 Coupé. The high-performance models can be
customised even further with the M Performance Motorsport foiling. The
decor set contains adhesive foils for each side in the three BMW M
colours blue, red and purple and is tailor-made to match the vehicle geometry.

Forged wheels in sizes of up to 21 inches and mixed
tyres.
At the time of market launch, the range of M
Performance Parts for the new BMW M3 Sedan and the new BMW M4 Coupé
comprises two complete sets of summer wheels. Entry level is the M
Performance Y-spoke forged wheel 963M in Frozen Gunmetal Grey with M
Performance lettering and mixed tyres, 19 inches at the front and 20
inches at the rear. It convinces with its unique geometry and
guarantees a high degree of stiffness and low weight as well as
reduced air resistance particularly at high speeds. Highlight of the
wheel range for the summer is the BMW M Performance cross-spoke forged
wheel 1000M in Gold Bronze matt or Jet-Black matt with M Performance
lettering. The wheels are available exclusively from M Performance
Parts in the sizes 20 inch at the front and 21 inch at the rear.

Perfect traction in winter: snow chain-capable 19-inch wheel set.
M Performance Parts also offers the snow chain-capable, 19-inch
double spoke complete winter wheel 829M for safe driving on snow and
ice. The rim, which is finished in black matt, is ideal for coping
with winter conditions and is particularly easy to clean. We recommend
M Performance Tyre Bags for optimal storage and convenient
transportation of wheel sets currently not fitted. They are suitable
for 17-inch to 22-inch complete wheels, protect them from dirt and
guarantee clear allocation of the tyres thanks to their respective
markings. Moreover, with their distinctive M Performance design they
emit a generous portion of motor racing flair in the home garage.

Carbon and Alcantara enhance motorsport flair in the
interior.
Customers are also able to further upgrade the
sporty and comfortable interior of their BMW M3 Sedan or BMW M4 Coupé
in many ways, both visually and functionally, using
motorsport-inspired components from the range of M Performance Parts.
As soon as the door is opened, the M Performance doorsill with carbon
insert and M Performance coloured lettering conveys unadulterated
motor racing flair. Furthermore, thanks to M Performance lettering, a
flag with M colours and edging in leather look including decorative
stitching in contrasting colours, the perfectly matching M Performance
front and rear floor mats convey the extremely dynamic exterior design
into the vehicle’s interior. M Performance carbon interior trims also
contribute towards this. They inspire with a fascinating combination
of open-pored, matt-coated carbon and elegant Alcantara. They are
manufactured by hand using a complex process, so each of them is a
unique one-off. M Performance Alcantara kneepads on the centre console
round off the range of interior features.

The M Performance Pro steering wheel is characterised by the use of
the material Alcantara, which is very common in motor racing not least
due to its grip properties. Therefore, the pronounced Alcantara
gripping area with large thumb rests and special lining offers the
driver maximum grip and a highly direct steering feel. Further
motorsport-inspired features include the blue centre marker in the 12
o’clock position and a handstitched M seam finished in M colours. In
addition to the standard leather-covered steering wheel trim, the
optional M Performance steering wheel trim Carbon/Alcantara and,
optionally, the M Performance steering wheel Carbon/Leather each with
M Performance lettering are available. The M Performance steering
wheel can be further upgraded with M Performance carbon shift paddles
covered with an open-pored carbon fabric instead of the standard
chrome surface.

The M Performance slide set for the BMW LED door projectors
guarantees eye-catching effects when entering and exiting the vehicle.
When the door is opened, the BMW M logo and other M Performance motifs
are projected onto the asphalt. When locking and unlocking the
vehicle, the driver is able to experience the M Performance concept
both visually and by touch with the M Performance key wallet finished
in high-quality Alcantara and boasting a carbon insert. The wallet is
firmly connected with the car key by means of a hexagonal head screw
in M Light Blue, allowing the key to be easily rotated into the
wallet, protecting it from scratches and any other damage.

The M Performance Indoor Car Cover reliably protects the vehicle
against soiling and scratches while it is parked in the garage. The
cover, which is delivered in a practical carrier bag, is made of
elastic, breathable polyester with a soft lining that is gentle on
paintwork and is machine washable. The car cover fits snugly to the
car body and emphasises various design features such as the double
kidney grille, for example, with the coloured M logo and M Performance lettering.

CO2 EMISSIONS & CONSUMPTION.
