Munich. MINI and Paul Smith bring together what
defines both brands: iconic form, meticulous detailing, and the
freedom to reinterpret classic design with unexpected twists. The MINI
Paul Smith Edition translates the designer’s signature style into a
distinctive edition for the MINI Cooper family—recognisable through
characteristic accents both inside and out. The edition is now readily
available for the MINI Cooper 3‑Door (electric and petrol), the MINI
Cooper 5‑Door, and the MINI Cooper Convertible.

Details with a British twist

Three exterior colours are available for the edition, including two
exclusives. Statement Grey reinterprets the 1959 Mini Austin Seven
shade in a contemporary way - a clean grey with a subtle blue hue.
Inspired White echoes the beloved beige of the classic Mini in a
modern tone. Completing the palette is Midnight Black Metallic, an
elegant black from the current MINI colour range.

Defining the look are striking contrasts between body, roof, and
accent colours, combined with the signature Paul Smith stripes. Door
mirrors, the radiator grille surround, and wheel hub caps stand out
across all models in Nottingham Green - a nod to the British
designer’s hometown.

For the hard-top models, two edition-specific roof finishes are
available: Nottingham Green or a more understated black with matte and
gloss tone-on-tone striping.

Inside, the MINI Paul Smith Edition pairs British understatement with
creative details. Vescin/knit upholstery in Nightshade Blue meets
black knitted surfaces with subtle tone-on-tone stripes. A “Hello”
projection when opening the door, the “Every day is a new beginning”
inscription on the door sill, and the signature stripe textile element
on the 6 o’clock spoke of the sport steering wheel add distinctive
touches. A hand-drawn “Rabbit” graphic on the floor mat completes the
characteristically British sense of humour.

Munich/Milan. Presenting A Garden of Curiosity – an
immersive installation cocreated by MINI and Paul Smith for the Salone
del Mobile. Set in the historic Palazzo Borromeo d’Adda in Milan, A
Garden of Curiosity adds yet another highlight to the rich history the
collaborators already share. Connected by their British heritage and
iconic designs, the two design houses come together to celebrate
optimism, curiosity and innovative spirit. The installation combines
Paul Smith’s signature use of colour with the eye for detail for which
MINI is renowned and invites visitors to explore and enjoy the playful
world of design.

“Paul Smith and MINI complement one another perfectly, as our
collaboration for this project demonstrates once again. We are united
by the joy of design, and our shared enthusiasm for craftsmanship,
innovation and individuality makes A Garden of Curiosity an experience
full of colour, sound and expression,” said Holger Hampf, Head of MINI Design.

Visitors immerse themselves in colour and sound: an experience
for all the senses

Set amid the enchanted garden of the Palazzo Borromeo d’Adda, the
installation is accessed via a wooden footbridge that takes visitors
across the courtyard and through a red door. The door represents a
symbolic invitation to look and see. On the other side is the green
space created by MINI and Paul Smith. It consists of pathways that are
lined with plants and grasses and lead to open platforms and cubic
installations. The iconic Paul Smith Signature Stripe runs discreetly
through the garden as a recurring design element. Architecture,
textures, colour and sound converge to create sensory experiences.

Interactive theme rooms

The Colour Theory Room acts as a visual intersection between Paul
Smith’s signature colour palette and the colours of the new MINI Paul
Smith Edition. Visitors can arrange colour samples on an interactive
wall, the overall picture changing constantly throughout the day with
each new personal design. In keeping with the philosophy of Sir Paul,
the wall also gives visitors the opportunity to experiment with colour
combinations.

The Listening Room builds on this experience with Sir Paul’s voice
recordings, highlighting the importance of colour theory. Another open
platform invites visitors to experience the space with all their
senses, allowing them to consciously enjoy a moment away from the
hustle and bustle of Milan.

Adding the joy of discovery to the installation, the new MINI Cooper
Convertible Paul Smith Edition is waiting to be found and invites
visitors to take a closer look. Its appearance and details not only
reflect Paul Smith’s distinctive style, but also capture the brand’s
playful, optimistic and independent spirit. This exclusive highlight
of the installation merges into the charming overall scene.

“I’ve always adored my visits to Milan for Salone del Mobile and I’m
delighted to be back in the city to introduce the world of design to
my new MINI. I look forward to sharing this special project with you
all,” said Sir Paul Smith.

Heritage meets curiosity

Walking through the courtyard to the installation, visitors are
immersed in the history of MINI and Paul Smith. Here, they can explore
three cars from the collaboration between the two companies, which
stretches back to 1998: the Paul Smith 40th Anniversary Mini, the MINI
STRIP by Paul Smith and another MINI Cooper from the latest Edition.
The specially created colour Nottingham Green adds stylish accents to
the Edition’s mirror caps, octagonal radiator grille and wheel hub
covers with Paul Smith lettering. A selection of others details also
reflect the distinctive style of Paul Smith and ensure this MINI
Edition captures the essence of ‘classic with a twist’.

The Paul Smith 40th Anniversary Mini: A one-off car from 1999, whose
bodywork morphed into a living work of art with 86 stripes in 26
colours. The interior also contained surprising use of colour (e.g.
the lime green glove compartment) and highlighted Paul Smith’s playful style.

The MINI STRIP by Paul Smith: Another one-of-a-kind creation, the
MINI STRIP of 2021 – based on the MINI Cooper – was reduced to the
essentials, as per the principle of ‘less is more’. The minimalist
design put the focus on construction and function, with the aim of
showcasing a new-at-the-time, responsible approach to design.

A Garden of Curiosity will be open on 21 – 26 April 2026 as part of
the Salone del Mobile in Milan. It can be visited in the House of MINI
at Via A. Manzoni 41 each day between 10.00 a.m. and 7.00 p.m.

Press Contact: Michaela Martinus
Tel: +49-89-382-21163
E-mail: michaela.martinus@bmw.de

BMW,Design,MINI,Concept Vehicles & Design,Corporate Heritage,Heritage,3 Door,F67,F66,Cooper,Cooper Convertible,Product

London / Munich. Paul Smith and MINI – two
traditional British brands have taken their partnership to the next
level and created something great: The new MINI Paul Smith Edition.
Following the MINI STRIP in 2021 and the MINI Recharged by Paul Smith
in 2022, the British designer is now bringing his world-famous design
language – ‘Classic with a twist’ – to the new MINI family. Whether
electric or combustion engine, the edition will be available for all
MINI Cooper 3-door, 5-door and Convertible models, with the exception
of the John Cooper Works models. The look and details not only show
Paul Smith’s signature style — but also the brands playful, optimistic
and independent spirit. The MINI Paul Smith Edition celebrates its
world premiere on October 29 at Japan Mobility Show in Tokyo.

“It’s not often that you see two icons of British design work
together in this way and it’s wonderful that our partnership has
carried on over so many years. The MINI Paul Smith Edition has been a
real privilege and a wonderful opportunity… new colours and new
unexpected details that will be a welcomed surprise,” adds Sir Paul
Smith, expressing his thoughts on the collaboration and the new design.

Unmistakable look with a British
twist.
Combining MINI design with Paul Smith’s
distinctive style: Exclusive exterior colours, sophisticated accents
and unexpected details bring the shared history of MINI and Paul Smith
into the present.

"MINI and Paul Smith embody a shared mindset of positivity,
embracing the motto of this edition: 'Every day is a new beginning.'
Our collaboration celebrates a mutual love for design and meticulous
attention to detail. Unexpected elements, such as the 'hello'
projection on the ground and Paul Smith’s handwritten inscription
bring a smile to your face right upon entering the car," says
Holger Hampf, Head of MINI Design.

The MINI Paul Smith Edition offers a choice of three exterior paint
finishes, two of which are edition-exclusive: Statement Grey is a
modern interpretation of the classic Mini Austin Seven colour from
1959 – a clear, bluish-tinted grey shade and self-confident statement
of timeless modernity. Inspired White is a contemporary homage to the
popular Classic Mini Beige colour, and finally the elegant and classic
Midnight Black Metallic from the current MINI Family.

Regardless of the body colour, the specially created Nottingham Green
paintwork – a tribute to Sir Paul's hometown – adds sophisticated
accents to the side mirrors, the octagonal radiator grille, the wheel
hub covers with Paul Smith lettering and as the paintwork for one of
the two roof variants.

In addition to the colour variants, numerous details characterise
Paul Smith's signature and make the MINI Paul Smith Edition
unmistakable: The ‘Signature Stripe’, a central design feature of the
British designer, adorns the roof in Nottingham Green at the rear of
the driver's side. The alternative version of the roof features
elegant stripes in Jet Black in varying thickness, both matte and
glossy. The MINI Cooper Convertible Paul Smith Edition is supplied
with a black soft top.

All edition vehicles are equipped with 18-inch Night Flash Spoke
black aluminium wheels with tinted clear coat in Dark Steel. The MINI
logo at the front and rear is offered in newly designed Black Blue and
complements the colour composition of Paul Smith and MINI. On the
black horizontal handle strip at the rear, Paul Smith's signature
refers to the creative spirit behind the vehicle design.

British restraint and elegance in the interior.

British character is also reflected in the interior with numerous
components featuring a modern, elegant look. The knitted surfaces on
the dashboard and door panels appear in black, while Paul Smith
fabrics in tone-on-tone stripe patterns serve as inspiration for the
special structure of the dashboard. The Nightshade Blue sports seats
are made of Vescin and have knitted textile in the shoulder and
headrest areas. Drawn from the Signature Stripe, the decorative
stitching on the steering wheel's textile band is designed in bright
colours - quintessentially Paul Smith.

The round display in the centre of the cockpit also appears with one
of three different Paul Smith backgrounds when Personal Mode is
selected. Small hidden details underline the British design influence
- but also the playful character of the designer: when the door is
opened, the driver and front passenger are greeted with a handwritten
‘Hello’ as a light projection on the floor and Smith's motto ‘Every
day is a new beginning’ on the door sill, reflecting the positive
mindset of both brands. A graphic of a stylized ‘rabbit’ hand-drawn
by Paul Smith on the floor mat complete the interior details.

A collaboration that blends British heritage, bold creativity
and contemporary sophistication.
MINI and Sir Paul
Smith: two icons that are not only linked by their British heritage
but also look back on exclusive collaborations resulting in unique
styling. Their joint creative success story began in 1998, when the
designer created a limited edition of the classic Mini: a specially
created blue colour and matching anthracite-coloured alloy wheels lent
the iconic model the signature of Paul Smith.

To mark the 40th birthday of the classic MINI in 1999, the fashion
designer dipped an exclusive one-off in his characteristic stripe
design, using 86 stripes in 26 colours.

In 2021, the MINI STRIP celebrated its world premiere: a vehicle
designed using only what Paul Smith considered absolutely necessary.
The result was a customised one-off car that despite its minimalist
design and in keeping with Smith's guiding principle of ‘classic with
a twist’, was not without unexpected and loving details.

In 2022, Paul Smith went back to the roots of the collaboration with
the MINI Recharged by Paul Smith. A classic found its way into the
now: a Classic Mini from the 1998 MINI Paul Smith Edition was
transformed into a modernised electric vehicle. With a focus on
quality and functionality, a contemporary vehicle was created that can
also be seen as a tribute to the tradition and heritage of the classic MINI.

Paul Smith MINI Collection
But it is not only Sir Paul Smith who inspires MINI with
creative ideas - the inspiration also works in reverse: the designer
repeatedly uses MINI as a motif on exclusive pieces in his
collections. To celebrate the launch of the MINI Paul Smith Edition,
Paul Smith will release a capsule collection of bags inspired by
details from the latest MINI collaboration.

Munich / Tokyo. The Japan Mobility Show 2025 becomes
the stage for the latest milestone in the long-standing collaboration
between MINI and British designer Paul Smith. It will be unveiled as
part of the BMW Group Keynote on 29 October 2025 at 09:55 (JST) at the
BMW Group stand, based in the West Exhibition Hall of the show.

MINI and Paul Smith: A creative success story.

The MINI Paul Smith Edition is a new chapter in the success story of
the two British brands. The long-lasting relationship began in 1998,
when the designer wrapped a Classic Mini Cooper in his trademark
visual design. To mark the 40th anniversary of the Classic Mini in
1999, the designer lent his characteristic Paul Smith "Signature
Stripe" to a one-off model. After two further one-offs - the MINI
Strip in 2021 and the MINI Recharged by Paul Smith in 2022 - Paul
Smith's design language returns to MINI.

MINI model portfolio.

As part of the BMW Group stand at the Japan Mobility Show, MINI is
presenting the diverse range of its current product portfolio. The
MINI Cooper family is represented by showcasing the MINI Cooper SE,
which combines heritage, technology and driving pleasure. Whilst
providing a fully electric go-kart feeling via the 218 hp electric
powertrain. Also present will be the MINI Cooper 5-door S, which
combines compact dimensions and agility whilst showcasing increased
practicality when compared to its 3-door siblings. A MINI Cooper
Convertible will also be on show, which presents open-air driving in
the spirit of its ‘Always Open’ philosophy: agile, spontaneous and
full of driving pleasure.Launched earlier this year, the MINI John
Cooper Works Aceman outlines its sporty all-electric useable
performance from the John Cooper Works sub-brand. The latest model in
the MINI family presents itself as a versatile companion and not only
demonstrates MINIs typical "Clever Use of Space" - but also
brings a powerful driving experience to the road as a
performance-enhanced version thanks to 258 hp produced from the 54.2
kWh electric battery. Finally, the MINI Countryman S ALL 4 will also
be present on the BMW Group stand at the Japan Mobility Show: as the
largest of the MINI family, the car offers generous space and fits in
perfectly for those looking for longer adventures and spontaneous exploring.

Japan Mobility Show.

The Japan Mobility Show is regarded as one of the most important
international platforms for pioneering mobility concepts. From October
29 to November 9, over 130 exhibitors will be presenting their
innovations to visitors and press at the Tokyo Big Sight exhibition
centre - making the Japanese capital the centre for visions of
tomorrow's mobility.

the elegant shade of Copper Grey. The convertible-specific metallic
paint glistens in the Spanish sun. Thanks to the sunroof function and
the ability to fully open the fully automatic roof at speeds of up to
30 km/h in just 18 seconds, a unique open-air experience is
guaranteed. The roof folds compactly, providing comfortable storage
space in the trunk of 160 liters even when folded. When the roof is
closed, this increases to 215 liters. The integrated "Always-Open
Timer" counts the moments of fresh air travelled with the roof
down on the round central instrument.

The MINI Cooper Convertible S is powered by an efficient 4-cylinder
petrol engine with 150 kW/204 hp. This allows the MINI Cooper
Convertible to reach a top speed of 237 km/h.

With this release, we are providing new images of the MINI Cooper
Convertible S.

From the MINI Cooper Convertible to the MINI Countryman, there's always room for a Christmas tree and ski equipment.</pp:summary>

It's that time of year again - Christmas is almost here! The new MINI
family has something for everyone this festive season, including the
distinctive MINI Cooper Convertible and the versatile MINI Countryman.
The MINI Cooper Convertible S is the ideal companion for excursions
through snow-covered winter landscapes. You can enjoy the fresh air
and sunshine with the top down, true to the motto "Always
Open". The Convertible also gives you that typical MINI go-kart
feeling with its 150 kW/204 hp output and agile handling.

The MINI Countryman S ALL4 is the perfect choice for those with a
need for more space. With a luggage compartment capacity ranging from
450 litres to 1,450 litres, the compact SUV not only offers plenty of
room for ski equipment and luggage, but also a spacious interior that
comfortably accommodates families. The MINI Countryman handles winter
conditions with ease and gets you to your destination safely thanks to
its four-wheel drive. The MINI Countryman's high level of occupant and
pedestrian safety was confirmed in early December when the MINI
Countryman received the highest possible five-star rating in the Euro
NCAP crash test.

MINI can look back on an eventful year. With the MINI Cooper 3-door,
MINI Cooper 5-door, MINI Cooper Convertible and MINI Countryman, four
models have been completely renewed. The family was joined by a new
member: the MINI Aceman. The progressive crossover model closes the
gap between the MINI Cooper and the MINI Countryman. The MINI Aceman
is offered exclusively as an all-electric model, while the MINI Cooper
family is available with a combustion engine, and the MINI Cooper SE
and E are also available with all-electric drive. The MINI Countryman
offers a particularly wide choice of powertrains, with five different
electric and combustion drives.

Numerous awards worldwide underline the success of the new MINI
models. The MINI Cooper was awarded the "Goldenes Lenkrad"
(Golden Steering Wheel) in Germany and was also named "Best
Imported Vehicle in Japan". The MINI Cooper was named "Car
of the Year 2024" by The Sun newspaper in the UK, while the MINI
Countryman was named "Small Premium SUV of the Year" by Auto
Express magazine.

MINI Cooper Convertible for the first time since 2015. The model joins
the MINI Cooper 3-Door and MINI Cooper 5-Door, making MINI Plant
#Oxford the home of the MINI Cooper family.

Announced last month, the fourth generation ##MINI Cooper
Convertible## includes a completely new interior and exterior design,
as well as a state-of-the-art digital experience.

“We are thrilled about the start of production of the ##MINI
Convertible##, which is now being produced again at the #Oxford plant,
the home of MINI. Unique in its class, the MINI Convertible offers
unparalleled, brand-typical driving fun, combined with boundless
freedom and great emotions: The iconic design combined with modern
technology and connectivity makes this vehicle an unmatched open-air
experience for our customers," says Stefan Richmann, Head of MINI.

Three UK BMW Group manufacturing sites contribute to the MINI Cooper
Convertible. BMW Group Plant #Swindon produces the body pressings and
sub-assemblies while the latest four-cylinder petrol engines are built
at BMW Group Plant Hams Hall in North Warwickshire. Finally, these
parts come together at MINI Plant Oxford where body shell production,
paint and final assembly take place.

Following the relaunch of the MINI brand in 2001, the first MINI
Convertible was unveiled in 2004 and has remained an icon of the MINI
family ever since.

With 160,000 vehicles built at MINI Plant Oxford from 2004 to 2008,
the first-generation MINI Convertible was known for its retro styling
and iconic chrome roll-over arches behind the rear seats. The second
generation, unveiled in 2009 with 165,000 built at MINI Plant Oxford
until 2015, kept the iconic drop-down hinged boot but gained the
evolved styling of the Cooper from that era.

Production of the model was briefly moved to VDL Nedcar for the third
generation, making room for the MINI Clubman at MINI Plant Oxford.
Over 150,000 Convertible models were produced at Nedcar until
production stopped in 2023, before production returned to MINI Plant Oxford.

MINI Plant Oxford celebrated its 110th anniversary in
2023, the same year the Plant produced over 20% of all UK manufactured
cars. As one of the oldest automotive plants in the world, MINI Plant
Oxford has been in continuous production since 1913.

The new MINI Cooper Convertible.

Munich. The new generation of the MINI Cooper
Convertible rounds off the current MINI family with a model that is
full of unique features. MINI presents the new convertible model that
perfectly embodies the brand's openness. "Always Open" -
this traditional claim of the MINI Convertible aptly describes the
model’s philosophy. The folding roof opens fully automatically in just
18 seconds, allowing the driver to enjoy the breeze and sunshine at
all times. Whether in the city, on country roads or on the highway,
the MINI Convertible offers pure freedom and unmistakable driving pleasure.

The open-top four-seater combines space-saving proportions with
fascinating open-air driving fun. With the MINI Cooper Convertible,
one of the most emotional models in the new MINI family returns to the
MINI plant in Oxford - the home of the British premium brand.

"We are very proud to offer our customers a true
convertible in the current MINI family. Our new MINI Cooper
Convertible offers unmistakable, hallmark driving fun, coupled with
boundless freedom and great emotions: Always Open. Iconic design
combined with modern technology and connectivity make this vehicle an
unrivalled experience for our customers," says Stefan Richmann,
Head of the MINI brand.

For an extra dose of sunshine, the fully automatic soft top can
be opened in two ways: either like a sunroof or fully retracted. This
is still unique in the premium small car segment. The soft top
disappears behind the rear seats to save space and can also be
conveniently stowed in the luggage compartment when folded down.

In the new MINI Cooper Convertible, open-air fans can enjoy
every moment, even with the soft top folded back. MINI is using the
Always Open Timer again for exactly this purpose. On the OLED display
of the central instrument, this shows the open travel time traveled by
the minute and thus offers fresh air fans a dose of playful ease.

Three efficient four-cylinder petrol engines deliver the brand's
signature go-kart feel with an impressive engine sound. Like the new
MINI Cooper, the convertible is available in C and S versions as well
as in performance-oriented version.

The design emphasises the character of the new MINI Cooper
Convertible with clean surfaces and accentuated details. Round LED
headlights and a redesigned front grille emphasise the model's
charismatic appearance with classic design features in a modern
interpretation. A variety of exterior and interior paint finishes and
fresh accents lend the new Convertible the brand's signature design
highlights. Three vehicle trims offer additional options for
customising the MINI Cooper Convertible.

The fully automatic soft top can be activated at the touch of a
button and can also be fully retracted at speeds of up to 30 km/h.
When the roof is closed, the sunroof function can be used at any time
with an opening length of up to 40 centimetres. A wind deflector
between the cockpit and the rear optimises airflow for a carefree
open-air feeling at all four seats. Innovative driver assistance
systems make driving the MINI Cooper Convertible even safer and more
comfortable. A significant increase in digital technologies creates
new possibilities for personalising the interior and simplifies the
use of smartphones and apps.

The exterior.
Charismatic convertible with purist design.
Compact proportions, short overhangs and now bigger 620 mm
diameter wheels give the MINI Cooper Convertible plenty of agility and
manoeuvrability for maximum driving fun. With its focused expression,
the front end signals openness and shapes the charismatic character of
the new MINI Cooper Convertible with high recognition value. Newly
designed exterior details enhance the striking appearance of the
model, which is unique in the premium small car segment.

The shoulder line continues into the lower part of the black
soft top. This separates the surrounding window area from the cleanly
designed body. This three-part exterior is typical of the brand. It
makes the MINI Cooper Convertible an unmistakable original. The woven
fabric soft top is available in black and optional with a grey Union
Jack, a nod to the brand's British origins.

Hallmark design with expressive highlights.
The
front end of the MINI Cooper Convertible shows the typical face of the
brand with its iconic round headlights and the newly designed front
grille. The octagonal-shaped surround encompasses the wide air inlets
in either Vibrant Silver or high-gloss Jet Black.

Standard LED headlights with light signatures are
available in three versions to emphasise the car's character. A
specially orchestrated welcome and goodbye animation with MINI logo
projections on the floor of the driver's and passenger's side enhances
the emotional connection to the MINI Cooper Convertible even before
you get in.

From the side, the clean lines of the sporty body are
characterised by the striking contrast between the short overhangs and
the long wheelbase. The reduced design of the body emphasises the
elegant impression of the vehicle's silhouette and gives the MINI
Cooper Convertible a generous appearance despite its small exterior
dimensions of 3,879 mm in length, 1,431 mm in height and 1,744 mm in
width. To match the unmistakable driving fun, the new MINI Convertible
is available with aerodynamically optimised wheel designs in sizes
ranging from 16 to 18 inches, depending on the model variant.

The rear view is characterised by the flush design of the
vertically aligned LED rear lights. The rear section is divided by a
black handle strip with striking model badge, whose horizontal
alignment emphasises the MINI Cooper Convertible's wide stance.

Fully automatic fabric soft top for safe driving fun.
The high-quality soft top protects the occupants in all
weathers. Thanks to its electric and extremely quiet drive, the
folding roof can be fully opened in 18 seconds, even at speeds of up
to 30 km/h. At the same time, the window bars and side windows are
lowered to provide a completely unobstructed view of the surroundings.
The soft top closes in 15 seconds at the touch of a button. For fresh
air at all times, the sunroof can be opened to a length of 40
centimetres, regardless of speed.

Concealed behind the headrests at the rear of the MINI Cooper
Convertible, the integrated rollover protection system is activated
automatically as soon as the central safety electronics detect a risk
of rollover.

When the soft top is open, the MINI Cooper Convertible has a
luggage compartment volume of 160 litres thanks to a particularly
space-saving folding system for the soft top, when the soft top is
closed, this expands to 215 liters. To maximise the loading height of
the luggage compartment, the storage area behind the rear seats can be
raised using two locking handles. The tailgate opens downwards to
facilitate loading, demonstrating once again the versatility of the
MINI Cooper Convertible. The wind deflector behind the driver and
passenger seats can be easily locked in place. It reduces wind noise
and unwanted air turbulence when driving with the roof open.

A dozen body finishes and three individual trims.
Twelve paint finishes are available for the new MINI Cooper
Convertible, including the exclusive and elegant Copper Grey. Optional
mirror caps in Jet Black and Glazed White make a strong statement.
Three different trims further enhance the Convertible's sporty-elegant
individuality. The Classic Trim features a black-trimmed front grille
for maximum clarity. The Favoured Trim front grille version is in
Vibrant Silver grille with a choice of 17-inch or 18-inch wheels.

The JCW Trim gives the MINI Cooper Convertible an extremely
sporty appearance. This equipment variant inspired by motorsports has
its very own distinctive front and rear design. The front grille
surround and JCW logo are finished in high-gloss black. The rear
section is muscular in shape and the all-round trim is finished in
high-gloss black.

The interior.
Minimalist, open feel that makes you feel
at home.
The interior design of the new MINI Cooper
Convertible focuses on minimalist details and textile surfaces. This
is part of the new "Charismatic Simplicity" design language
of the entire MINI family with fewer components, clever design and
high-quality workmanship. Three key elements structure the cockpit: A
sporty steering wheel, the central OLED display and the classic, newly
designed toggle switch bar.

Directly behind the steering wheel, the Head-up Display projects
all relevant information into the driver's field of vision. This means
that the dashboard on the driver's side does not require an additional
instrument panel and, in keeping with the open-top driving fun, allows
a clear view to the front. The textile surfaces in the cockpit are
based on a newly developed knitted material and create a pleasant
atmosphere. The two-tone fabric is made from recycled polyester and
has an easy-care texture.

Comfortable seats for the driver and front passenger add to the
modern, airy feel of the well-designed cockpit. There is a choice of
grey or black seats in a combination of artificial leather and textile
silhouette in blue. The JCW sport seats are available in beige and
Nightshade Blue synthetic leather with contrasting stitching. In the
JCW Trim, the sport seats are upholstered in black leather with
multicoloured knitted fabric on the shoulders and red stitching.

High-resolution OLED display with touch function.
The new central instrument in the cockpit of the MINI Cooper
Convertible combines innovative technologies in an extremely flat
design. The high-quality 240 mm diameter glass surface allows the
driver and front passenger to operate all vehicle functions
conveniently by touch or voice. The innovative MINI Operating System 9
simplifies connectivity and brings apps and digital content from the
smartphone to the display. This turns the MINI Interaction Unit into
both a comfort and experience centre.

Thanks to advanced OLED technology, the contents of the display
are high-contrast and easy to see, even with the soft top open and in
bright sunlight. Speed is displayed at the top of the screen, and
tapping on the speed display opens a large full-screen speedometer
that focuses on the driving experience. The other widgets are shown in
thumbnail view in the Home menu, to the left and right of the current
menu function. These can be moved to the centre and selected by means
of a horizontal swiping movement. In the lower area of the OLED
display, the menu items Navigation, Media, Telephone and Climate can
be selected directly at any time.

MINI Experience Modes create immersive driving
experiences.
Seven MINI Experience Modes can be selected
to change the interior ambience and highlight different aspects of the
MINI Cooper Convertible - even with the top down. The design of the
OLED display changes depending on the selected setting and focusses on
specially designed driving experiences. In Go-Kart Mode there is a
highly dynamic focus on MINI’s racing DNA, for example. The display as
well as the dashboard and the interior door panels are then dominated
by the colours anthracite and red, while specific analogue displays
for driving dynamics complement this John Cooper Works-inspired MINI
Experience Mode.

To achieve this, two projector units behind the round instrument
panel beam special illuminated graphics with different patterns and
colours onto the dashboard when the top is closed. Changes are made to
the colour scheme of the light patterns and to the ambient lighting in
the entire interior depending on the Experience Mode selected.

Personal Mode offers innovative options for a particularly
personalised cockpit design. In this mode, a personal photo can be
uploaded via the MINI app and chosen as the display background. A
digital colour picker then identifies the dominant colours of the
photo for projection onto the textile dashboard surfaces. The ambient
lighting under the dashboard and in the door mirror is also
colour-coded to match these projections.

Modern classic: Newly designed toggle switch
bar.
The toggle switch bar in the centre of the cockpit
is a classic and typical MINI feature. It emphasises the emotional
bond between driver and car through its characteristic feel. In the
modern cockpit of the MINI Cooper Convertible, this authentic feature
brings the brand's history into the present with a new design. Five
individually designed toggle switches provide direct access to the
MINI Cooper Convertible's most important driving functions (parking
brake, gear selector, start/stop button, Experience Mode toggle,
volume control). This eliminates the need for an additional gear
selector and provides additional stowage space in the centre console.
In addition to the cup holders, smartphones can be easily stored on a
separate shelf while being charged via wireless charging.

Individual trims for the interior.
Three
interior trim options are available for the MINI Cooper Convertible.
Each conveys the contemporary feel-good concept of the interior of the
vehicle in a different way.

In the Classic Trim, the three-spoke steering wheel has a
leather-look textile band with coloured accent stitching. In addition,
a black and blue knitted surface on the instrument panel and doors
provides a rich contrast to the seats, which are available in premium
fabric or Vescin synthetic leather.

In the Favoured Trim, the interior has a strikingly expressive
design. The instrument panel is upholstered in grey-beige houndstooth
fabric. The knitted surface in the door panels continues the friendly
interior design. JCW sport seats with additional side noticeably
enhance comfort. These are made of perforated synthetic leather with
classic accent stitching and an embroidered MINI logo in two colours.

The MINI Cooper Convertible's interior is showcased in maximum
sporting style with the JCW Trim. Combined with multi-coloured knitted
fabric and black synthetic leather with red stitching, the colour
scheme echoes that of the dashboard and door trims. The JCW sport
steering wheel replaces the six o'clock spoke with a black leather
band with red stitching to match the trim-specific colour scheme.

The drive.
Three efficient four-cylinder petrol
engines.
There is a choice of three advanced two-litre
petrol engines for the new MINI Cooper Convertible. All have four
cylinders and accelerate the fun of open-air excursions. The
entry-level model is the MINI Cooper Convertible C (combined fuel
consumption: The performance-enhanced fuel consumption combined: 6.6 -
6.5 l/100 km; CO2 emissions combined: 149 - 147 g/km according to
WLTP; CO2 class: E) with a power output of 120 kW/163 hp and a maximum
torque of 250 Nm. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.2 seconds.
The top speed is 220 km/h.

The performance-enhanced MINI Cooper Convertible S (fuel
consumption combined: 6.6 - 6.5 l/100 km; CO2 emissions combined: 150
- 148 g/km according to WLTP; CO2 class: E) has a power output of 150
kW/204 hp and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds with a
maximum torque of 300 Nm. It has a top speed of 237 km/h.

In addition to these two variants, the performance-oriented JCW model
focuses on sportiness and maximum driving pleasure.

Open-air rides with outstanding driving
dynamics.
The MINI Cooper Convertible is equipped with a
suspension and damping system tuned for agile handling. The MINI
typical precise steering also makes the open-top model an attractive
cornering artist. It also ensures a high level of safety and comfort.

Highly preloaded anti-roll bar mounts on the axles support the
steering precision. This gives the convertible a well-balanced ride
when cornering. Selective tuning of the steering and all stability
control systems also ensure a safe and exceptional driving experience
in all driving situations.

Digital services.
The new MINI Intelligent Personal
Assistant.
A spoken "Hey MINI!" activates the
first fully-fledged voice assistant of the brand in the MINI Cooper
Convertible. Alternatively, the push-to-talk steering wheel button is
also available for this purpose. Communication with the virtual travel
partner – either a stylised MINI or the character “Spike” – is
particularly fluent and intuitive thanks to improved speech
recognition. Voice-controlled interaction is supported by animated
graphic elements, typography and the avatar on the OLED display.
Navigation, telephony, entertainment and numerous vehicle functions
can be controlled simply and conveniently by speaking the relevant command.

The MINI Intelligent Personal Assistant learns continuously
through dialogue and is able to take on day-to-day tasks on repeated
routes. For example, the system uses geospatial data to identify the
entrance to the car park and can automatically open the window at the
right time. This means that individual routines can be handled more conveniently.

Progressive assistance systems increase
safety.
The optional Driving Assistant Plus Package
provides the MINI Cooper Convertible with an additional Steering and
Lane Assistant for lateral guidance. Adaptable and cooperative
steering helps the driver stay on track. The increased comfort
provided by the system relieves the driver of monotonous and less
demanding aspects of driving. The clear, uncluttered design of the
displays and controls and the easy to understand functions contribute
to high system reliability.

Thanks to twelve ultrasonic sensors and four Surround View
cameras, the Parking Assistant Professional in the MINI Cooper
Convertible can detect free parking spaces and initiate parking
manoeuvres automatically where space is limited. The Panorama View
allows for better visibility of the surrounding area when the view is
obscured by other vehicles. For additional control over the MINI, the
Remote 3D View allows images to be transferred to a mobile device.

Easy-to-use connectivity and intuitive interaction.
The newly designed user interface in the OLED display
of the MINI Cooper Convertible combines functional and emotional
elements. Its minimalist design adapts the new graphics to the
circular shape of the MINI Interaction Unit, simplifying operation by
means of a clear structure. Static and dynamic elements combined with
micro-animations ensure that the interaction between the driver and
the central instrument is as harmonious and intuitive as possible. In
this way, the MINI Operating System 9 gives the MINI Cooper
Convertible a distinctly digital character.

In the centre of the screen is the start menu, where a
horizontal swiping motion is used to select and start personalised
content. At the bottom of the screen is the fixed status bar with the
menu items “Navigation”, “Media”, “Telephony”, “All Apps” and,
depending on the situation, “Home”, all of which can be selected
directly. A so-called toolbelt can be called up by swiping upwards
from the bottom edge of the screen. Favourite functions, e.g.
navigation destinations and radio stations, can be saved here and
accessed quickly at any time, just like on the smartphone. The
toolbelt can also be activated via the star button on the
multifunction steering wheel. The upper screen area is reserved for
driving-related content such as speed and important vehicle status
information. The optional Head-up Display presents the most important
information directly in the driver’s line of sight.

Depending on the Experience Mode, a single tap on the speed
display transforms the entire MINI Interaction Unit into a typical
MINI speedometer. The temperature is shown permanently for the driver
and front passenger at the left and right-hand edge of the screen. The
climate settings are always integrated at the top level of the MINI
Interaction Unit and are operated by either touch or voice.

MINI Connected upgrades allow additional driving functions to be
activated flexibly at any time, including an optional augmented
reality function that is able to visualise complicated turning
situations realistically and in three-dimensional display, for
example. In conjunction with the optionally available MINI Connected
Package, the digital MINI Connected Store provides access to a
constantly evolving variety of practical and entertaining apps,
including in the areas of gaming, music and video streaming.
Palm Springs. In the middle of the desert and
incredibly cool — that's Palm Springs. Countless date palms, hot
springs and turquoise-blue swimming pools with views of the
surrounding peaks of the Agua Caliente Indian Reservation Park make
this place a well-tempered wellness oasis. From October to May, a
light breeze from the canyons carries a pleasant cooling breeze to the
sunlit city streets. Numerous cafés, bars and resorts invite you to
enjoy the incomparable climate and the freedom-loving atmosphere.
That's how laissez-faire goes in American.

What could be better than opening the electric soft top in a
sporty-elegant MINI Cooper S convertible (fuel consumption combined in
l/100 km: 6.6-6.2 (WLTP)/CO2 emissions combined in g/km: 151-141
according to WLTP). All it takes is 18 seconds at a speed of up to 30
km/h. The wind is blowing in your hair and the typical MINI open-air
go-kart feeling increases the feeling of freedom when driving south on
Palm Canyon Drive.

Between pools and palms.
As early as the 1930s,
Palm Springs was considered a retreat for Hollywood stars in the
desert. Here, far away from the curious eyes of the paparazzi, they
were able to relax in a pleasantly dry climate with views of the
impressive landscape. It's no wonder that the largest number of
mid-century modern architecture and design classics in the world is
located here.

Even today, modern villas in expansive bungalow style characterize
the image of Palm Springs. With its elegant equipment, the MINI Cooper
S Convertible is a perfect match for the dignified backdrop of the
city. The incomparable appearance of the convertible is further
emphasized by the exclusive surround of the radiator grille and the
front and rear lights in high-gloss piano black.

“The Movie Colony” is located not far from downtown. It's not without
reason that the district bears its name. The historic villas of
numerous Hollywood stars are located here, including Walt Disney,
Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, Leonardo di Caprio and
Elizabeth Taylor. They all appreciated the discreet and carefree
atmosphere at the pools and under the palm trees, which are constantly
swinging in the wind. The all-round view from the MINI Cooper S
Convertible not only provides an unobstructed view of the subtly
designed mid-century architecture as you drive past. Right behind,
rugged mountain ranges rise on the horizon around Downtown Palm
Springs and contribute to the valley's unique atmosphere.

From here, a breezy ride along Indian Canyon Drive takes you to the
Palm Springs Art Museum and its important collection after just a
short time. With over 12,000 modern works of art and a unique
collection of works of architecture and design, it stands for the
diverse culture of Palm Springs.

A green oasis under the open sky.
After so many
cultural impressions, it is time for a short break. Thanks to short
overhangs and compact outer dimensions, the MINI Cooper S Convertible
fits easily into one of the popular parking spaces in the shade.
Fortunately, the unparalleled open-air feeling in Palm Springs is
retained even outside the Convertible. Because not only the weather,
but also the varied culinary scene in Palm Springs invites you to
enjoy one of the many terraces or in one of the typical poolside
cafés. The modern Californian bistro Lulu's is centrally located
between the main roads in downtown Palm Springs and is a favorite for
lovers of extended brunches. From sandwiches and fresh salads to
French-inspired cuisine, you'll find everything you want here.

After the stop, the journey continues towards the national park. The
tall date palms line the street and provide cooling shade. They are
the calming trademark of the sophisticated city and create a deep
green contrast to the wild mountain landscape that surrounds Palm
Springs. In the late 19th century, palm trees were imported from the
Middle East. Since then, they have been producing sweet dates here
under perfect climatic conditions, which are used to prepare delicious
shakes in many bars in the city.

MINI Cooper S Convertible: driving pleasure with unobstructed
all-round visibility.
On the curved path to the west, the route repeatedly provides
fascinating views of the numerous canyons. The automatic sports
transmission of the MINI Cooper S convertible also enhances
comfortable open-air driving pleasure. And with 178 hp, the vehicle
accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds, making the route to the
Tahquitz Canyon at the foot of the San Jacinto Mountains fast. Just a
few minutes from Palm Springs city center, along a beautiful hiking
trail, you'll find ancient rock carvings of the Cahuilla natives and
an impressive 30-meter high waterfall. This proximity to nature makes
Palm Springs so attractive for many visitors and enables varied,
active sightseeing.

The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway rewards you with a particularly
impressive all-round view of the rugged mountain landscape and into
the city. Over a length of four kilometers, the cable car offers
breathtaking views of the Chino Canyon. A special highlight is the
rotating gondola, which rotates around its own axis once during the
journey. Once at the almost 2,600 meter high summit, visitors can
experience their white wonder during the winter months, because there
is regular snow in this heigh in the San Jacinto Mountains — while the
palm paradise in the valley is just a short open-air ride away.

During the day, the sun shines relentlessly, and then the days turn into long, softly glowing nights. The carefree open-air driving pleasure of MINI Cooper S Convertible perfectly matches the distinctive atmosphere at this time of year.</pp:summary>

Stockholm. Days that never end – what sounds like
pure stress in everyday urban life takes on an entirely different
twist amid the vast landscape of the archipelago. Around midsummer, in
the middle of June, hours of sunshine and seemingly endless bright
nights provide plenty of time to relax outdoors. The MINI Cooper S
Convertible offers open-top driving fun for an extended summer
adventure along the Swedish Baltic coast. From Stockholm, a short
drive on the E18 towards Östhamra is all it takes to leave behind the
hustle and bustle of the big city. From here, routes 276 and 278 lead
south-east on small country roads through a picturesque natural
setting and on to the coast.

Island feeling.
The archipelago north-east of
Stockholm is characterised by the deep cuts made by the Baltic Sea to
create a rugged coastline. Numerous small islands and an vast expanse
of water give a sense of endless space. As soon as you lower the top
of the MINI Cooper S Convertible (fuel consumption combined: 6.6-6.2
l/100 km; CO2 emissions combined: 151-141 g/km according to WLTP),
this impression is reinforced, revealing a view of the numerous wooden
houses along the shore painted in typical Swedish red. This matte yet
vibrant colour has its origins in the Swedish mines, where iron
hydroxide is extracted as a byproduct. When exposed to air, it becomes
iron oxide – in other words rust. This is what creates the unique and
typical colouring of the Swedish wooden huts – the bathing houses and
excursion restaurants that are a typical feature of the landscape
along the Baltic Sea.

Lots of sunshine through the open roof and the constant view of
the water intensify the desire to jump into the cool water. Before
heading deeper into the archipelago, a stop at Solöbadet is a good
idea. From the water, the MINI Cooper S Convertible with its body in
Melting Silver III and comfortable leather seats in Chester Malt Brown
fits perfectly into the scenery on the shore – and makes you want to
drive on.

After the swim, a short detour leads north. Crossing a small
bridge, we reach the island of Marholmen, where the decorated maypole
already stands on the festival meadow of this small islet. As in the
whole country, the longest day of the year is celebrated here by
singing and dancing together. Midsummer in Sweden is a time of
community festivities. Laughter, music and happy get-togethers are the
stuff of summer memories, making them unforgettable.

Endless days for exploring.
Looking out over the
water glittering in the light, the numerous bays and islands overgrown
with small forests, you forget the passing of time – especially around
the time of the Midsummer Festival. This is because it is bright at
any time of day. But your appetite for the Nordic cuisine with its
fresh fish and crisp vegetables reminds you in time that it is getting
late. With acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.9 seconds and the
dynamic Steptronic sports automatic transmission, the journey to the
eastern end of the archipelago continues swiftly, offering typical
MINI driving pleasure. How fortunate that a restaurant is still open
on Furusund: it instantly feels like home with its family atmosphere
and freshly caught food.

As we eat, the spectacle of different hues on the horizon
unfolds, typical of this time of year. It may be approaching midnight
now, but instead of being shrouded in deep dark black, the sky glows
in a fascinating mix of different colours including blue, purple,
orange and pink. In this unique atmosphere, the top of the MINI Cooper
S Convertible naturally remains open late at night. The distinctive
blend of freedom and driving pleasure is a perfect match for the
Swedish highlight of the summer season and on the return journey to
Stockholm provides special moments that are just as memorable as the
surreal light above the winding archipelago.
From idea to small series in less than 8 months. The MINI Cooper SE Convertible sets another strong impulse on the way to becoming a fully electric brand.</pp:summary>

Munich. Following the positive feedback on the unique
specimen presented in summer 2022, MINI is now going ahead with a
small series of the all-electric MINI Cooper SE Convertible (power
consumption combined: 17.2 kWh/100 km according to WLTP; combined
CO2 emissions: 0 g/km) which represents another big step in
the direction of electric mobility. The world's first locally
emission-free premium convertible in the small car segment shortens
the transition period to the introduction of the next-generation
all-electric model family. From April 2023, the MINI Cooper SE
Convertible will be available in Europe in a limited number of 999 vehicles.

"Three years ago we launched the all-electric MINI Cooper SE,
and today one in five MINI sold in Europe is an all-electric MINI.
This success has spurred us to implement the small series of the MINI
Cooper SE Convertible within only a few months. I'm delighted that we
can offer 999 MINI customers an extraordinary and exclusive open-air
go-kart feeling," says Stefanie Wurst, Head of the MINI Brand.

The MINI Cooper SE Convertible is available in Enigmatic Black and
White Silver. Door handles, side scuttles and the surrounds of the
front and rear lights are finished in Resolute Bronze. The MINI logos
and the model lettering feature in elegant Piano Black to match. The E
logo familiar from the MINI Cooper SE is found on the front apron and
on the rear, thereby visually underlining locally emission-free
driving fun.

Further edition-specific equipment details also adorn the door sill
trims and side scuttles and, with the 1 of 999 lettering emphasising
the exclusive character of the limited edition open-air MINI.

MINI takes on a pioneering role with the edition-specific alloy
wheels. The 17" cast alloy wheels in Electric Power Spoke 2-tone
design are made of 100 percent secondary aluminium. The combination of
green electricity during production and the use of the secondary raw
material can significantly reduce CO2 emissions compared to
conventional manufacturing processes.

Extensive interior equipment with MINI Electric Design features.
The sports seats are in MINI Yours Leather Lounge design and
feature seat heating and adjustable thigh support. The multifunctional
sports leather steering wheel in Nappa leather finish contributes to
the fun-to-drive atmosphere and stylish driving comfort and can also
be heated. In the lower steering wheel spoke, the MINI Electric Badge
highlights the limited character of the all-electric convertible. The
exclusive Piano Black surfaces, which can be stylishly set off by the
ambient lighting, also contribute to car’s exclusive status. The
design of the interior emphasises the fully electric character of the
open-top four-seater with yellow colour accents, such as the yellow
start-stop toggle switch.

In addition to numerous other features, the high-quality equipment is
complemented in the cockpit by the eDrive services familiar from the
MINI Cooper SE. These provides the driver with information on current
energy consumption, range and tips for an economical driving style.
All essential information is summarised on the MINI Head-Up Display
while driving. On longer journeys, the Active Cruise Control with Stop
& Go function and the MINI Driving Assistant, among other
features, enhance the comfort of the limited MINI Convertible with
all-electric drive as standard.

Pure electrified go-kart feeling.
With a length of 3,850 mm, a wheelbase of 2,495 mm, 1,727 mm
width and 1,427 mm height, the dimensions, including the luggage
compartment with 160 l load volume, remain unchanged compared to the
conventionally powered MINI Convertible. The 135 kW/184 hp electric
motor comes from the BMW Group's electric mobility competence centres
in Dingolfing and Landshut. Its small size enables particularly
harmonious axle load distribution and favours agile and easily
controllable handling. The electric drive accelerates the MINI Cooper
SE Convertible smoothly from standstill to 100 km/h in 8.2 seconds.

With a range of 201 kilometres determined in the WLTP test cycle,
open-air excursions are possible well beyond the city limits. Up to 30
km/h, the fully electrically powered and thus particularly quiet
textile soft top in MINI Yours style with typical Union Jack pattern
can be opened, closed or set as a sliding roof.

From idea to small series.
With the MINI Cooper
SE Convertible, MINI highlights its flexibility and has set up the
production of a small series for the first time. The MINI Cooper SE
Convertible will be produced in a limited edition of 999 vehicles
alongside the conventional MINI Convertible in the Netherlands.

CO2 EMISSIONS & CONSUMPTION.

MINI Cooper SE Convertible (power consumption combined: 17.2 kWh/100

Munich.
Waves rolling gently onto the beach and the endless
horizon in view – a day at the seaside offers refreshingly expansive
perspectives and a feeling of freedom. In line with this, the MINI
Convertible in the Seaside Edition celebrates 30 years of individual
style and maximum fresh-air driving fun. To mark the anniversary of
the open-top four-seater, MINI now presents the sporty classic with
exclusive equipment and design features – optionally in a shimmering
blue Caribbean Aqua paint finish or in the light Nanuq White
bodycolor. The Seaside Edition of the MINI Convertible is available as
the Cooper (combined fuel consumption: 6.4 – 5.9 l/100 km; combined
CO2 emissions: 145 – 135 g/km according to WLTP) and the
Cooper S (combined fuel consumption: 6.9 – 6.5 l/100 km; combined
CO2 emissions: 157 – 148 g/km according to WLTP).

Currently the world’s only premium convertible in the small car
segment and with an impressively distinctive look in traditional brand
style, the MINI Convertible embodies individual open-air driving
pleasure. In the MINI Cooper S, a 2.0-litre, 131 kW/178 hp 4-cylinder
power unit with MINI TwinPower Turbo Technology enables acceleration
from a standstill to 100 km/h in 7.2 seconds. The MINI Cooper also
provides typical MINI go-kart feeling, featuring a 3-cylinder petrol
engine with an output of 100 kW/136 hp. The black, electrically
operated soft top takes things at a more leisurely pace: it can be
opened or closed automatically up to 30 km/h.

From February 2023, the limited Seaside Edition of the MINI
Convertible will accentuate this stylish model’s hallmark features
with an edition-specific design in the exterior and interior. Double
decorative stripes in white run from the side doors to the rear of the
vehicle, and the exclusive exterior design is rounded off with a
unique graphic on the front apron, where a stylised 30 once again
refers to the model’s anniversary.
This contrasts elegantly with
the maritime-inspired paint finish Caribbean Aqua, emphasising the
sporty character of the open-top four-seater. In the Nanuq White
finish, the consistently light-coloured bodywork has a particularly
elegant appeal: here the MINI Convertible is reminiscent of spotted
clouds against a deep-blue summer sky.

The side scuttles with the edition’s discreet “Seaside”
lettering pick up on the 30th model anniversary with graphically
designed numerals in light and dark blue. The round birthday is also
celebrated with exclusive “Seaside” lettering in sporty orange on the
rear. Meanwhile the 18-inch alloy wheels in Pulse Spoke design are
reminiscent of pulsating waves in the water. By contrast, the specific
wheel caps stand still: here, the number of the anniversary appears
once more. A weight behind them ensures a perfect appearance at all times.

Even as you enter the vehicle, the trim strips on the vehicle doors
in edition design with two white stripes and Seaside lettering convey
the exclusive aura of the interior. The Carbon Black leather seats
with comfortable knee rolls and armrests in the doors offer comfort as
well as harmonising perfectly with the two exterior finishes Caribbean
Aqua and Nanuq White when the soft top is open.

The decorative trim strips on the front dashboards also appear in
edition-specific design: both the printed pattern and the lettering
bring the round anniversary to mind once again. This pattern also
appears on the floor mats in the form of a graphic badge. The lower
spoke of the sports leather steering wheel features the eponymous
“Seaside” lettering of the new MINI Edition. The vehicle key featuring
the edition-specific graphic wave pattern in iridescent blue tones
picks up on both the open atmosphere and the pure elegance of the sea,
enabling the owner to take a piece of this exclusive edition home with
them. The integrated “Seaside” lettering underlines the model’s unique
flair – definitely ruling out any potential key mix-ups.

For the driver, the latest generation of the MINI operating system
optimises quick and intuitive control of the vehicle functions, audio
programme, communication, navigation and apps, while newly compiled
equipment packages enable specific individual preferences to be
fulfilled in terms of driver assistance and connectivity.

World premiere at "MINI takes the States" in the USA.</pp:summary>

Munich/Asheville. Sunshine, rising temperatures,
fresh green scenery: Right on time for summer, MINI is presenting the
all-electric MINI Cooper SE as a convertible for the first time. Not
as a series production version, but as a unique specimen that shows
how the path to an all-electric premium brand could continue and also
electrify classic sporty open-air driving in the future. As an open
four-seater, the MINI Cooper SE Convertible is the world's only
premium convertible with a fully electric drivetrain in the small car
segment. With this frontrunner, the British premium brand combines
classic sportiness, maximum open-top driving fun and locally
emission-free electric mobility for the first time.

The one-off model will be shown to the public for the first time at
the traditional community event "MINI Takes the States" in
the USA. The winding roads between Burlington in Vermont and
Greenville-Spartanburg in South Carolina are perfect for giving the
assembled MINI community a first impression of the typical MINI
go-kart feeling in the outfit of a MINI Cooper SE Convertible.

The unique specimen is based on the body of the MINI Cooper S
Convertible. The electrified MINI Convertible also shares the
dimensions of 3,863 mm in length with a wheelbase of 2,495 mm, a width
of 1,727 mm and a height of 1,415 mm. The load volume in the luggage
compartment also remains unchanged at 160 l.

The drive technology comes from the BMW Group's electric mobility
competence centres in Dingolfing and Landshut. The MINI Cooper SE
Convertible uses the same drive components as the three-door MINI
Cooper SE. The exceptionally harmonious axle load distribution due to
the small electric motor favours agile and easily controllable
handling. With the top down now in the future, too.

The 135 kW/184 hp electric motor, like in the MINI Cooper SE,
transfers the agile handling with the hallmark go-kart feeling to the
world of electric mobility and enables acceleration from a standstill
to 100 km/h in 7.7 seconds. With a range of 230 kilometres determined
in the WLTP test cycle, open-air excursions in urban environments as
well as well beyond the city limits are possible. The MINI Cooper SE
Convertible combines open-top driving fun with clever functionality.
The fully electric and thus particularly quiet textile soft top can be
opened and closed within 18 seconds. At the touch of a button, the
soft top can be activated when driving up to 30 km/h and allows three
settings: open, closed or as a sunroof.

With this one-off, MINI is appealing to the ever-growing fan
community of the brand's hallmark open-air driving fun and, at the
same time, electrifying the global vehicle market with another segment
- sustainably, transparently and comprehensibly. The successful
transformation of the MINI brand to electric mobility is demonstrated
particularly impressively by the example of the MINI Cooper SE model.
With growth of plus 132%, the model was the pulse generator for the
MINI brand in 2021. In Germany, the largest market for the MINI Cooper
SE, almost every third MINI is already electrified. To make this
enthusiasm for electrified driving sustainable, MINI makes every day
charging easy and convenient. MINI Charging provides MINI drivers in
Germany with flexible solutions for charging at home and at work, as
well as access to one of the largest public charging networks in
Europe, comprising more than 250,000 charging points.

emphasises the hallmark design features. In addition, the innovative
Multitone Roof creates unique individualisation opportunities. In the
interior, the extensively redesigned cockpit underlines the premium
character of the MINI-3 door, the MINI-5 door and the MINI
Convertible. Attractive additions to the range of standard and
optional equipment, new exterior paint finishes, light-alloy wheels,
interior and seating surfaces as well as innovative technology in the
areas of chassis, driver assistance systems, operation and
connectivity round off the latest update for the British brand's small
car models.

20 years after the launch of the modern MINI, the latest model
generation presents itself in top form. The concept associated with
the relaunch of the brand, namely to build premium cars for the
small car segment, has turned into a unique and global success
story. Today, MINI is the epitome of agile driving combined with an
unmistakable look; it meets the highest standards in terms of
technology and quality in its vehicle class. "With the current
model revision, the MINI has reached a level of maturity that makes
it more exceptional in the small car segment with regard to design,
product substance and premium quality, than ever before," says
Bernd Körber, Head of the MINI brand. "The MINI is the original
that stands out from the crowd and it continues to reinvent itself
again and again."

The global market launch of the latest edition of the MINI-3 door,
MINI 5-door and MINI Convertible models will begin in March 2021. In
a model-specific version, the comprehensive design, technology and
premium quality update also gives fresh impetus to the all-electric
MINI Cooper SE (fuel consumption combined: 0.0 l/100 km (WLTP);
combined power consumption: 17.6 - 15.2 kWh/100 km (WLTP), 16.1 -
14.9 kWh/100 km (NEDC); combined CO2 emissions: 0 g/km)
in continuing its successful push into the electric vehicle segment.
The latest version of the extreme athletes, the MINI John Cooper
Works (combined fuel consumption: 7.1 - 6.8 l/100 km (WLTP),
7.1 - 6.9 l/100 km (NEDC); combined CO2 emissions:

MINI John Cooper Works Convertible (combined fuel consumption:
7.4 -7.1 l/100 km (WLTP), 7.4 - 7.1 l/100 km (NEDC); combined
CO2 emissions: 167 - 161 g/km (WLTP), 169 - 163 g/km
(NEDC) also benefits from a model-specific further development of
their design and their product substance.

Purify MINI: The new exterior design.

A new exterior design language now puts the unmistakable appearance
of the MINI in a decidedly purist light. Above all, the enhanced
aesthetics ensure that the central design features of the MINI
become even more apparent and modern by means of reduction. The
front view of the MINI 3-door including the MINI Cooper SE, the MINI
5-door and the MINI Convertible is particularly expressive. It is
dominated more than ever by the characteristic radiator grille, the
hexagonal surround of which now takes up significantly more space,
and by the round hallmark MINI headlights. The position lights are
replaced by vertical air inlets placed far to the outside, which
serve as an opening for the air curtains in order to optimise
aerodynamics. The central bumper strip, which also functions as a
number plate holder, is now in body colour rather than in black.

"The new MINI design is more modern, fresher and
clearer," says Oliver Heilmer, Head of MINI Design. "All
innovations follow a common mission: Purify MINI! Less complexity,
more individuality."

Typical MINI proportions and short overhangs continue to define the
side view. The new contours of the wheel arch surrounds are
striking. In addition, the side indicators integrated into the
redesigned side scuttles now feature LED technology. A reduced
surface design characterises the rear view of the combustion engine
powered MINI model variants. A black surround picks up the hexagonal
shape of the radiator grille. The rear fog light is now integrated
into the rear apron as a narrow LED unit.

Each roof is unique: The unique Multitone Roof.

Contrasting colours for the roof and exterior mirror caps are among
the most striking design features that have made MINI a pioneer when
it comes to customisation. In addition to the Jet Black, Aspen White
and Melting Silver paintwork, as well as Chili Red for the MINI John
Cooper Works, an innovative and globally unique variant of the roof
paint finish is offered for the MINI 3-door and the MINI 5-door. The
new Multitone Roof features a colour gradient from San Marino Blue
through Pearly Aqua to Jet Black, created with a new painting
technique and by extending from the windscreen frame to the rear.
For this purpose, the three colour shades are applied one after the
other in a wet-on-wet painting process. This paint finish, known as
Spray Tech, is fully integrated into the mechanised production
process at the MINI Oxford plant in the UK. Nevertheless, slight
deviations in the colour pattern occur due to changing environmental
conditions, so that every MINI with Multitone Roof is already unique
ex works.

"The new Multitone Roof for the MINI is not only the most
expressive form of contrast paint to date, it also takes the brand's
hallmark ex works customisation options to a new level," says
Oliver Heilmer, Head of MINI Design. "And because every roof
looks a little bit different and is so unique, it pays to look
closely more than ever."

Three new exterior paint finishes, five new light-alloy wheels.

The choice of body paint finishes includes three new colours. In
addition to the Rooftop Grey metallic and Island Blue metallic
exterior paint finishes, the Zesty Yellow variant, initially only
available for the MINI Convertible, will also be available. As part
of the Piano Black Exterior option, the door handles, side scuttles,
fuel cap, MINI logos on the bonnet and luggage compartment lid and
the model lettering and tailpipes of the exhaust system are now
finished in high-gloss black in addition to the surrounds of the
headlights, radiator grille and rear lights.

The range of light-alloy wheels available for the MINI has also
been extensively renewed. Five new variants are available: 17-inch
wheels are now also available in Tentacle Spoke black design, in
Scissor Spoke design previously only available for the MINI Sidewalk
Convertible, and in a black version of the Pedal Spoke variant which
had been previously introduced exclusively for the 60 Years Edition
models. In addition there are the 18-inch light-alloy wheels in
Pulse Spoke design, with a concentric bi-colour look that creates
particularly impressive design accents, as well as John Cooper Works
light-alloy wheels in Circuit Spoke black design.

Dark headlights, brightly illuminated roads: LED lights now standard.

A new, expressively designed version of the LED headlights will be
standard equipment on the MINI-3 door, the MINI 5-door and the MINI
Convertible. The inner housing of the characteristic round lights is
no longer in chrome, but in black. LED units for the low beam and
the high beam ensure bright and even illumination of the road. A
circumferential light band takes on the function of the daytime
running lights and the turn indicators.

The range of functions of the optional Adaptive LED headlights
includes the cornering light, the matrix high beam and the bad
weather light. When turning, a separate light beam automatically
falls on the lane where the driver is headed. The high beam is also
automatically controlled according to the respective traffic
situation at speeds of more than 70 km/h. For this purpose, the
corresponding LED unit is divided into four segments that can be
activated and deactivated independently of each other. This matrix
function makes it possible to avoid dazzling other road users. As
soon as the MINI front camera registers an oncoming vehicle or a
vehicle driving ahead, the space that vehicle occupies is only
illuminated at low beam brightness. The bad weather light can also
be activated at the touch of a button. When visibility is limited,
for example due to fog or heavy rain or snow, the low beam can be
supplemented by a dimmed cornering light to illuminate the road more intensively.

Rear lights in Union Jack design now standard.

The characteristic rear lights in Union Jack design are now also
part of the standard equipment range for the MINI 3-door, the MINI
5-door and the MINI Convertible. The British flag-inspired graphic
of the rear lights is particularly emphasised by a darker version of
the pattern. All functions of the rear lights are in LED technology
with the exception of the reversing light.

Interior: Clear design, high-quality finish.

The redesigned interior of the MINI 3-door, MINI 5-door and MINI
Convertible is sophisticated, modern and of particularly high
quality. New to the range are sports seats in the Light Chequered
colour variant, which perfectly complement the Zesty Yellow exterior
paint finish. The familiar Black Pearl fabric quality is given a
new, expressive check look in hallmark British MINI style. The seams
at the transition to the black imitation leather of the seat
bolsters feature a colour scheme that matches the fabric of the seat surfaces.

The design of the Colour Line, which was previously selectable as
an individual option, is now harmoniously matched to the respective
seat upholstery colour. The number of chrome elements has been
significantly reduced throughout the interior. The two outer, round
air outlets are now framed by black panels. The internal air vents
have been completely redesigned and are now embedded to be flush
with the interior surface. The interior surface, which is optionally
available in the new Silver Chequered and MINI Yours Aluminium
variants as well as Electric for the MINI Cooper SE, now extends
across the entire width of the instrument panel into the driver's area.

The premium look of the hallmark central instrument has also been
optimised. An 8.8-inch colour touchscreen display, touch-sensitive
favourite buttons and Piano Black high-gloss surfaces are now
standard features. In addition, the audio control unit and the
function buttons for hazard warning lights and driver assistance
systems are integrated even more harmoniously into the circular
control unit. In conjunction with the Ambient Light option, a new
surface design with laser engraving optimises the appearance of the
LED light ring surrounding the central instrument. The operating
system controller placed on the centre console now features an
all-black surface in conjunction with a navigation system.

Sports leather steering wheel now standard, digital cockpit optional.

A newly designed sports leather steering wheel with multifunction
buttons will be part of the standard equipment of all model variants
of the MINI-3 door, MINI-5 door and MINI Convertible. A new
structure for the keypads optimises operation of the audio and
telephone functions, voice control and driver assistance systems.
The John Cooper Works Trim, MINI Yours Trim and MINI Electric Trim
equipment packages feature a particularly high-grade version of the
sports leather steering wheel. It features a nappa leather surface
and larger thumb rests. For the first time, steering wheel heating
is also available as an optional extra for the MINI small car models.

A multifunctional instrument display behind the steering wheel is a
component of the Connected Media option. The digital colour display
in black panel design, which is standard in the MINI Cooper SE, has
a 5-inch diameter and displays all driving-relevant information as
well as check-control messages and status displays of the driver
assistance systems. In the all-electric MINI, it also serves as a
charging status indicator while connected to the power grid.

Choice of display colours and lighting mood: The new
"Lounge" and
"Sport” modes.

There is a choice of two colour schemes for the central instrument
display and the digital cockpit display, which can be called up in
the control system menu. In "Lounge" mode, the content
displayed is in a relaxing colour setting ranging between turquoise
and petrol blue. If "Sport" mode is active, the screen
backgrounds are red and anthracite. On vehicles equipped with the
optional MINI Driving Modes, the colour scheme is linked to the
respective vehicle setting selected. In the MID and GREEN modes, the
"lounge" style screen display is then called up, and when
driving in "SPORT" mode, the corresponding colour scheme
of the same name is also activated. Optionally, a uniform colour
scheme for all MINI Driving Modes can be set in the control system menu.

In conjunction with the new Ambient Light option, the colour worlds
of the displays can also be combined with the interior light
control. There is a choice of six interior light colours for each of
the two modes "Lounge" and "Sport". They can
each be set using a toggle switch located in the upper area of the
windscreen frame. Corresponding coloured light is then emitted from
the laser-engraved LED ring of the central instrument, from the now
indirectly illuminated undersides of the interior surfaces, along
the contours of the door panels, at the driver's and passenger's
door openers, from the base of the roof as well as in the front area
of the centre console and in the footwells. This provides an
individually configurable and always harmonious lighting mood in the
interior of the MINI 3-door, the MINI 5-door and the MINI
Convertible. In addition, the Ambient Light option also illuminates
the door handles and the entry areas on the driver and passenger sides.

Questions to Oliver Heilmer on the new MINI.

What does the new MINI model stand for in your view?

The new MINI is first and foremost an authentic MINI and has gained
even further in personality and substance. Under the banner
“Purify”, we have refined and emphasised all those things that make
MINI what it is: quality, modernity and identity. Here, it was also
important to us to achieve even greater differentiation between the
various engine variants. For the first time, there is no specific
design for the MINI One, and the Cooper, Cooper S, Cooper SE and
John Cooper Works can be clearly distinguished from one another.

What was the approach with the development of this model?

MINI has a great history. This means we at MINI Design are
repeatedly handed the fascinating task of striking the right balance
between heritage and the future. What things do you keep in, what do
you rethink? An important strategy for us here was a purposeful
“reduction” to essential aspects, so we could focus on specific
elements and enhance their visual presence. With the new MINI, the
revolution is in the detail. We set out to modernise where we could,
while at the same time retaining the car’s established substance.
For example, omitting chrome in the headlights for the first time
showcases even more effectively the signature MINI look created by
the circular daytime driving lights. The same goes for the radiator
grille: reducing certain elements gives the grille and therefore the
front end as a whole a clearer and more modern appearance. And
incorporating the body colour into the grille for the first time
adds another visual highlight.

What are some of the special design features of the new MINI?

Revolutions at MINI often begin with colour and material-related
themes. We’ve always been pretty bold in this area, and that’s the
case again with the new MINI. With the Multitone
Roof – a visually expressive design made up of multiple
colours – we are making a real stylistic statement and taking the
next step in developing the contrast-colour roof design originally
established by us. The paint finish on this new roof progresses from
dark blue through light blue to black. The special manufacturing
process we developed at Plant Oxford for the job at hand ensures
each roof is a one-off, as the wet-on-wet painting method inherently
creates slight differences in the colour transitions. And so, every
customer will be given a unique example of the car; it doesn’t get
any more individual. What is more, we are the first carmaker to
offer this kind of roof design. Another feature of the exterior are
the new 18-inch radial wheels. These represent a
further development of the classic Mini’s signature wheel rims, now
with milled surfaces. The bi-colour design of the rims creates a
very effective contrast, and the concentric pattern adds the
finishing touch to their dynamic and modern appearance.

At first glance, the interior is typically MINI, but look again and
the array of detail updates we’ve introduced are revealed. Fewer
joins and buttons give the cabin a more sophisticated and modern
feel. The clear cockpit layout with new multi-function
steering wheel integrates more functions yet reduces the
number of control surfaces. The digital instrument
cluster on the steering column and iconic central
instrument with all-new user interface point the way into
the brand’s digital age. One feature of the car you may not be able
to see as such, but which I would say is equally important is the
use of 100% recycled material for the surfaces of the sports seats
in the new Light Chequered design. After all, our goal is to make
the future not only modern but also more sustainable.

Significant updates have been made to the user interface.
How did
they come about?

We are focusing on touch control in the new MINI, as this is
something our customers are already familiar with from devices they
use outside the car. So, the car should offer an intuitive extension
of this control logic. The layout is also visually clear and modern
in execution. We now have live widgets, which users can adapt or
selected by swiping. And we are using two colour worlds to highlight
the “Lounge” and “Sport” driving modes in the central information
display. These modes also team up with the extended ambient
lighting. When the driver selects a mode, the ambient lighting
changes in full and allows the driver to immerse themselves
discreetly yet even more deeply in the driving experience.

What scope will there be for customisation?

Customisation has always been a central theme at MINI. With this in
mind, we certainly haven’t dialled things back with the new MINI;
instead, we’re offering even more ways of adapting the car to the
customer’s individual style and personality. As I said before, it’s
difficult to think of a more individual feature than the Multitone
Roof. And we’re also adding three new exterior colour shades to the
selection of paint finishes for this model. As you would expect, we
are once again offering a spread of high-quality equipment and trim
options for the interior which will help owners to set their car
apart. Together with the Multitone Roof, this means we are opening
up a wider range of possibilities than ever before.

What does the new MINI tell us about the (design) future of MINI?

The principle of reduction will play a major role in shaping the
future face of MINI. After all, we believe that, in this ever more
complex world, it will become increasingly important to focus on the
essential aspects. We don’t see reduction as “doing without”.
Rather, purposefully leaving things out enables us to highlight and
emphasise those that remain to the best possible effect. In our
eyes, reduction represents a clear choice – for elements that will
then benefit from all of our passion, eye for detail and expertise.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Engines with MINI TwinPower Turbo Technology and Euro 6d
emission standard.

Powerful and efficient petrol engines with three or four cylinders
constitute the drive portfolio for the MINI 3-door, the MINI 5-door
and the MINI Convertible. Their MINI TwinPower Turbo technology is
made up of a turbocharging unit integrated into the exhaust
manifold, direct petrol injection and variable valve timing. The
3-cylinder engines, each with a capacity of 1.5 litres, are
available in three versions with outputs ranging from 55 kW/75 hp to
75 kW/102 hp and 100 kW/136 hp. The 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine
generates a maximum output of 1131 kW/178 hp or 170 kW/231 hp in the
two John Cooper Works models. Thanks to consistently optimised
emission control technology, which includes a petrol engine
particulate filter, all model variants comply with the Euro 6d
emission standard.

With its 135 kW/184 hp electric motor, the MINI Cooper SE provides
emission-free driving fun. Power is transmitted via a single-stage
automatic transmission. The high-voltage lithium-ion battery, which
is located deep in the vehicle floor and has a gross energy content
of 32.6 kWh, enables a range of 203 to 234 kilometres as determined
in the WLTP test cycle.

The combustion engines of the MINI 3-door, MINI 5-door and MINI
Convertible are combined with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard.
With the exception of the entry-level engine for the MINI 3-door and
the MINI 5-door, they can also deliver their power to the front
wheels via a 7-speed Steptronic transmission with double clutch
(John Cooper Works models: 8-speed Steptronic transmission).

Go-kart feeling redefined: Adaptive suspension optimising
the balance between sportiness and comfort.

The spontaneous power delivery of the engines, precise steering,
powerful brakes and suspension and damper tuning designed for
spirited handling are what characterise the MINI's agile driving
characteristics. A new version of the Adaptive Suspension, available
for the first time on MINI models, now redefines the brand’s
hallmark go-kart feeling. It achieves a noticeably optimised balance
between sportiness and ride comfort through the use of continuous
frequency-selective damping. An additional valve acting on the
traction side takes over the task of smoothing out sudden pressure
peaks within the damper. The damper force is adjusted within 50 to
100 milliseconds.

Depending on the driving situation and road conditions, the damping
forces can be reduced by up to 50 percent. This significantly
increases ride comfort and superior handling when compensating for
slight bumps in the road, while maintaining the sporty
characteristics of the damping when turning in to a corner, for
example. The innovative damper technology is available for all model
variants except the MINI One First, the MINI One and the MINI Cooper SE.

The MINI Cooper SE comes with an electric parking brake as
standard. It is activated and released with a button on the centre
console and is also available in the other model variants, with the
exception of the MINI One First, in conjunction with an automatic
transmission, the optional Driving Assistance Package and at least
16-inch light-alloy wheels.

Staying on course at all times: Lane departure warning:

The Driver Assistance Package, available as an optional extra for
the MINI 3-door, the MINI 5-door and the MINI Convertible, ensures
maximum comfort and safety with an extended range of functions. The
new lane departure warning, which is a component of this option,
helps the driver stay safely on the chosen course at speeds between
70 and 210 km/h. To prevent unintentional lane departure, the system
registers markings at the edge of the lane and alerts the driver if
there is a risk of deviation by vibrating the steering wheel.

Maintaining speed and distance more comfortably: The new
Active Cruise Control - now featuring Stop & Go function.

By evaluating the images from the front camera, the conditions for
another driver assistance system are created. This feature is
available for the first time for the MINI 3-door, the MINI 5-door
and the MINI Convertible. The new Driver Assistance Package Plus
includes Active Cruise Control, which now also offers a Stop &
Go function in conjunction with an automatic transmission. It
automatically maintains the desired speed and the distance to
vehicles ahead in four stages. The system uses data registered by
the front camera installed in the upper part of the windscreen frame
to adjust speed and distance according to the situation.

The combined speed and distance control can be used in the range
between 30 and 140 km/h. If necessary, the system can brake the
vehicle to a standstill. To start up again from a standstill, you
only need to briefly depress the accelerator pedal.

New equipment packages and trims allow for targeted individualisation.

A newly structured range of trims and equipment packages permits
customers to optimally customise the MINI 3-door, the MINI 5-door
and the MINI Convertible. It allows customers to add their favourite
options to the extended standard equipment range of the MINI in a
simple and coherent way. The trims are distinguished above all by
their independent and harmoniously coordinated exterior and interior
design features. Individual wishes regarding comfort, driver
assistance, operation and networking can also be fulfilled thanks to
a clear selection of equipment packages. In addition, a reduced
number of individual options remain for the final configuration of
the vehicle, oriented towards the customer's personal style.

The trims available to complement the extensive range of standard
equipment also each include the Ambient Light and MINI Driving Modes
options. The Classic Trim also includes particularly attractive
exterior paint finishes and light-alloy wheels as well as sports
seats in the fabric/leatherette combination Black Pearl/Carbon Black
and the interior surface in the Piano Black variant.

Added driving fun and sporty appeal is achieved with the John
Cooper Works Trim, which is available for all model version with the
exception of the MINI One First and the MINI Cooper SE. This is
ensured by a specific selection of exterior paint finishes, the John
Cooper Works Aerodynamic Kit, the Piano Black exterior option and
17-inch light-alloy wheels in Track Spoke Black design or 18-inch
light-alloy wheels in Circuit Spoke design for the MINI John Cooper
Works and MINI John Cooper Works Convertible models. In addition,
the Adaptive Chassis is part of the John Cooper Works Trim. In the
interior, John Cooper Works sports seats in the Dinamica/leather
combination Carbon Black, the nappa leather steering wheel with John
Cooper Works logo, the interior surface in Piano Black, John Cooper
Works door sill trims, the anthracite-coloured roof liner and
stainless steel pedals add to the joy of driving a MINI even more.

The MINI Yours Trim gives the car a particularly stylish touch with
high-quality exterior paintwork and MINI Yours logos on the B and C
columns of the MINI 3-door and MINI 5-door models respectively, as
well as 18-inch light-alloy wheels in MINI Yours British Spoke
design and 17-inch light-alloy wheels in Roulette Spoke design for
the MINI Cooper SE. The exclusive ambience in the interior is
provided by sports seats in the MINI Yours Leather Lounge Carbon
Black version, the nappa leather steering wheel with MINI Yours
logo, the anthracite roof liner, MINI Yours floor mats and the
interior surface in the new MINI Yours Aluminium version. The MINI
Yours Trim is offered for all model variants with the exception of
the MINI One First.

The Electric Trim is available exclusively for the MINI Cooper SE.
It includes White Silver metallic paint finish with a black roof and
yellow exterior mirror caps and 17-inch light-alloy wheels in
Electric Power Spoke design as well as Cross Punch Carbon Black
leather upholstery, a nappa leather steering wheel with MINI
Electric logo and the anthracite roof liner.

The newly compiled equipment packages include optional comfort,
driver assistance and connectivity functions. The new comfort
package, for example, includes automatic air conditioning, the
centre armrest, the interior mirror with automatic anti-dazzle
function, the exterior mirror package and the storage package. The
Comfort Plus Package adds comfort access, heated seats and steering wheel.

The Driver Assistance Package includes Park Distance Control with
sensors at the rear and the rear-view camera, as well as cruise
control with braking function and Driving Assistant including the
new lane departure warning. With the Driver Assistance Package Plus,
these functions are supplemented by the Parking Assistant and Active
Cruise Control with Stop & Go function.

New operating system with modern graphics display and
additional connectivity features.

The operating system of the MINI 3-door, MINI 5-door and MINI
Convertible is now more advanced than ever before thanks to a new
graphics display and further developed options for selecting and
controlling vehicle functions, audio system, hands-free telephone
system, navigation and apps. The screen display with symbols and
white text on new colour backgrounds has a particularly high-grade
and modern look.

The desired menu items are displayed as "live widgets"
and can be called up by swiping the touchscreen, whereupon they are
shown in enlarged form in the centre of the display. This stages the
content even more vividly.

Advanced connectivity features, audio and navigation features are
combined in three further equipment packages that build on each
other. The multifunctional instrument display, MINI Connected,
ConnectedDrive and Remote Services are all components of the
Connected Media package. The Connected Navigation Package adds the
MINI navigation system including Real Time Traffic Information and
Apple CarPlay preparation. The Connected Navigation Plus package
also adds MINI Connected XL, Concierge Services, MINI Head-Up
Display and telephony with wireless charging.

Always connected to your MINI: The new MINI App.

The new MINI App offers an advanced user experience that is
completely oriented towards a digital lifestyle. It allows drivers
to contact their MINI at any time, for example to call up
information on the car's status or to prepare the next excursion.
The MINI App, which can currently be downloaded free of charge from
the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store in 30 European
countries as well as in South Korea, serves as a universal interface
between the smartphone or other personal devices and the car. The
MINI App features fresh design and new functions.

For example, the fuel level or charge status can be called up
remotely. With Remote Services, the MINI can be located and its
doors locked or unlocked. You can also send navigation destinations
from a smartphone directly to the car. Service appointments can also
be arranged very conveniently using the MINI App. Model-specific
MINI Electric services are another component of the app. The
charging process can also be controlled from a distance and –
depending on the time of year - the auxiliary heating or auxiliary
air conditioning of the MINI Cooper SE can be activated. By
mid-2021, the MINI App will be available in more than 40 countries
and 23 languages.

Munich. Numerous new features in the area of drive
technology enhance driving fun as well as reducing emissions in the
current MINI models as of summer 2018. Emission control in all
petrol-engine variants of the MINI 3 door, MINI 5 door and MINI
Convertible as well as the MINI Clubman and MINI Countryman will
include a particulate filter as of July 2018. The models of the
British premium brand with this feature meet the particularly rigorous
requirements of the Euro 6d-TEMP emission standard. This demonstrates
how MINI consistently continues to pursue the optimisation of
emissions in its current models. The diesel engine variants of the
MINI Clubman and MINI Countryman have met the Euro 6d-TEMP standard
since March 2018. Their emission control system includes not just a
diesel particulate filter and an NOX storage catalytic
converter but also an SCR catalytic converter which features a special
urea injection (AdBlue) for highly effective reduction of nitrogen
oxide emissions.

In addition, the relevant model variants of the MINI Clubman and
MINI Countryman will be fitted with enhanced petrol engines as of July
2018. Here, optimised MINI TwinPower Turbo Technology especially
benefits fuel consumption and emission levels. As an alternative to
the standard manual transmission, the petrol engine models of the
MINI Clubman and MINI Countryman will be available with a 7-speed
Steptronic transmission in future.

Thrilling shift dynamics, a high level of comfort, optimised
convenience:
7-speed Steptronic transmission with double
clutch.
Fast gear changes and a high level of internal
efficiency are the properties of the 7-speed Steptronic transmission
with double clutch available as an option for further variants of the
successful MINI models in the premium compact segment from July 2018
onwards. The use of two clutches when changing gear enables
particularly sporty acceleration without torque interrupt. In addition
to enhanced driving fun, the design principle adapted from motor
racing also has all the comfort features of an automatic transmission.
It ensures harmonious and acoustically barely perceptible changes in
drive position, free of load change reactions in the engine – not just
when sprinting but also when decelerating. The 7-speed Steptronic
transmission with double clutch also enables use of the auto
start/stop function and the coasting function to increase efficiency.
Furthermore, the transmission control is networked with the navigation
system if the vehicle is fitted with one. In this way, navigation data
can be used to adapt the choice of gear perfectly to the route.
Operation of the 7-speed Steptronic transmission with double clutch is
by means of an electronic gear selector switch. This transmits the
driver's instructions by means of electrical impulses to the
transmission control.

From July 2018 onwards, the 7-speed Steptronic transmission with
double clutch is also available as an option in combination with the
enhanced petrol engines for the MINI Clubman and the MINI Countryman.
The efficiency-optimised petrol engines fitted as standard with a
particulate filter meet the requirements of the Euro 6d-TEMP emission
standard. With the 7-speed Steptronic transmission, the combined fuel
consumption figure for the MINI One Clubman and the
MINI Cooper Clubman is now 5.7 litres per 100 kilometres in each case
(CO2 level: 130 g/km). The figures for the
MINI Cooper S Clubman are 5.8 litres per 100 kilometres and 133 g/km.
The combined fuel consumption and the CO2 emissions level
of the MINI One Countryman with 7-speed Steptronic transmission are
5.9 litres per 100 kilometres and 135 – 134 g/km. For the
MINI Cooper Countryman the figures are 5.9 to 5.8 litres per 100
kilometres and 134 – 132 g/km). The corresponding figures measured in
the MINI Cooper S Countryman are 6.0 litres and 138 – 136 g/km
(figures depend on the tyre format selected). All fuel consumption and
emissions figures were arrived at using the new WLTP measuring
procedure and then adapted to NEDC for comparison purposes by means of correlation.

Even faster gear changes are enabled by the 7-speed Steptronic
sports transmission, available as an additional option for the MINI
Cooper S Clubman and the MINI Cooper S Countryman. Shift paddles are
available at the steering wheel in this version of the automatic
transmission for manual intervention in the choice of drive position.

Thrilling sound, perfect connectivity: MINI Clubman with
Connectivity Package.
The new Connectivity Package is
available for the MINI Clubman from July 2018, providing the very
highest level of entertainment pleasure and intelligent connectivity.
It includes especially high-quality fittings for navigation,
communication and sound, combined with perfect operation and
functionality. The central component of the package is the option
Connected Navigation Plus with 8.8-inch touchscreen and MINI Touch
Controller, Real Time Traffic Information and automatic navigation map
update via mobile phone connection, established by means of the
integrated SIM card. The Connectivity Package likewise includes Apple
CarPlay preparation, MINI Connected XL and telephony with Wireless
Charging, allowing cable-free charging of mobile phones with this capability.

In addition, a DAB tuner allows reception of digitally
transmitted radio programs in particularly high sound quality. An
inspiring sound from all audio sources is also guaranteed by the
Harman Kardon hi-fi speaker system that is also included in the new
Connectivity Package – with 12 speakers, an 8-channel digital amp and
an output capacity of 360 watts.

As standard in the MINI Clubman and the MINI Countryman:
automatic driving lights control.
An addition to the
standard range of fittings for the MINI Clubman and the MINI
Countryman from summer 2018 serves to enhance both comfort and safety.
In future, the two MINI models in the premium compact segment will be
fitted with automatic driving lights control as standard. This
function ensures needs-oriented activation and deactivation of the
headlights and rear lights depending on the light conditions in the
environment of the vehicle. For this purpose, the driving light switch
in both models can be turned to an additional position from July 2018:
it is marked by a graphic symbol containing the letter "A".
When using the automatic driving lights system, the lights are not
only activated at night but also when dusk is falling and when
visibility is poor due to the weather conditions, as well as when
passing through tunnels or in dark multi-storey car parks.

Fuel consumption, CO2 emission figures and power
consumption were measured using the methods required according to
Regulation (EC) 2007/715 as amended. The information is based on a
vehicle with basic equipment in Germany; ranges take into account
differences in wheel and tyre size selected as well as optional equipment.

The information has already been calculated based on the new
WLTP test cycle and adapted to NEDC for comparison purposes.

In these vehicles, different figures than those published here
may apply for the assessment of taxes and other vehicle-related duties
which are (also) based on CO2 emissions.

For further details on official fuel consumption figures,
official specific CO2 emissions and power consumption of
new cars, please refer to the "Manual on fuel consumption,
CO2 emissions and power consumption of new cars",
available at all sales outlets, from Deutsche Automobil Treuhand GmbH

progressive character and appeal of its models in the small car
segment with a stylishly refined visual appearance and extensive
technological advancements. The update for the MINI 3 door (combised
fuel consumption: 6.0 – 3.8 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions:
138 – 99 g/km), the MINI 5 door (combined fuel consumption:
6.2 – 3.8 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 141 – 101 g/km) and the
MINI Convertible (combined fuel consumption: 6.3 – 4.2 l/100 km;
combined CO2 emissions: 144 – 111 g/km) includes fresh design
accentuations, innovations in the field of drive technology,
additional customisation options and an expansion of the digital
services available as part of MINI Connected.

The upgrading of the original product substance in the premium
segment of small cars highlights the mature yet distinctive charisma
of MINI, which in its current model generation is now available for
the first time with three body types for hallmark driving fun in urban
traffic. This is due to such elements as the new engine-transmission
combinations, an extended range of standard features, newly designed
headlights and rear lights, additional body finishes and cutting-edge
connectivity technology for convenience and infotainment.

MINI 3 door, MINI 5 door, MINI Convertible: overview of new features.

• LED headlights with Matrix function for the high beam.
• LED rear lights in Union Jack design.
• New MINI
logo, new body finishes, Piano Black exterior.
• New light
alloy wheels.
• Extended range of leather trim, interior
surfaces and Colour Lines.
• Unique individualisation
with MINI Yours Customised.
• Further developed engines
with enhanced efficiency as well as increased capacity and torque for
MINI One and MINI One First.
• 7-speed Steptronic
transmission with double clutch, 8-speed Steptronic
transmission.
• Multifunction steering wheel and radio
with 6.5-inch colour screen, USB and Bluetooth interface as
standard.
• Optional radio and navigation systems with
touchscreen monitor.
• Telephony with wireless
charging.
• MINI logo projection from the exterior mirror
on the driver's side.
• MINI Connected and MINI Connected
XL with new functions.

Bright and dazzle-free: adaptive LED headlights with Matrix
function for the high beam.

A modified design for the characteristic circular headlights make the
hallmark front view of the new MINI 3 door, the new MINI 5 door and
the new MINI Convertible even more powerfully expressive. In the
standard halogen headlights, a striking accentuation is added by means
of a black panel. In the LED headlights available as optional
equipment items, the high-quality technology is underscored by means
of an entirely newly design of the light sources. The latest
generation of the LED modules for low and high beam offers increased
brightness. The LED daytime driving light and the turn indicator light
are generated by a ring which surrounds the entire contour of the headlight,

Likewise optionally available, the adaptive LED headlights
automatically adjust their brightness to the situation on the road.
When driving through a city or in the event of limited visibility due
to the weather, it is possible to add in the dimmed turning light so
as to intensify illumination of the side section of the roadway.
Meanwhile a specifically increased range of the low beam ensures
optimum illumination of the road when driving on the motorway.

The adaptive LED headlights now also feature an automatic selective
dip function for the high beam. The innovative Matrix technology for
the high beam increases visibility range while at the same time
avoiding any dazzle effect for other road users. For this purpose it
is divided into four horizontally arranged segments, which are
activated and deactivated independently of one another at speeds of
over 70 km/h. The high beam segments are controlled based on the
situation on the road. As soon as the MINI front camera registers an
oncoming vehicle or a vehicle driving ahead, the space that vehicle
occupies is only illuminated at low beam brightness. This is done by
deactivation of the Matrix high beam segments that are responsible for
the space in question. The remaining areas of the road continue to be
illuminated at high beam brightness.

Very British: rear lights in Union Jack design.

The rear lights also feature a new design in conjunction with the LED
headlights and the adaptive LED headlights. As a clear reference to
the brand's British origins, the upright light units at the rear of
the new MINI 3 door, the new MINI 5 door and the new MINI Convertible
now appear in a Union Jack design.

The striking flag motif is recreated in the structure of the light
functions. The turn indicators are horizontally arranged and the brake
lights are vertically aligned, with the tail light additionally
representing the diagonal lines of the British flag. In order to
ensure a particularly harmonious lighting effect, all light sources
forming the Union Jack graphic use LED technology.

New MINI logo: reduced to the essentials.

The new MINI logo is clear and authentic in style, appearing on the
bonnet, tailgate, steering wheel, central instrument display and
remote control in all models. It is a re-interpretation of the
existing logo and now features a two-dimensional "flat
design". As such, the MINI logo reflects the new brand identity
with its focus on the essentials – namely key values such as driving
fun, distinctive design, premium quality and emotional appeal.

Three new body finishes, premiere for Piano Black Exterior.

The range of body finishes available for the new MINI 3 door, the new
MINI 5 door and the new MINI Convertible includes three variants. The
colours Emerald Grey metallic, Starlight Blue metallic and Solaris
Orange metallic are now also included in the program.

What is more, the list of optional equipment items features an
additional means of customising the exterior design. With the option
Piano Black Exterior, the surrounds of the headlights, rear lights and
radiator grille are finished in high-gloss black instead of chrome.

The selection of optionally available light alloy wheels has been
expanded, too. The 17-inch light alloy wheels in the design styles
Roulette Spoke 2-tone and Propeller Spoke 2-tone are now available for
all body variants of the new MINI. The likewise 17-inch light alloy
wheels in Rail Spoke 2-tone design have also been newly added to the program.

New leather trims, interior surfaces and Colour Lines.

A broad selection of seat surfaces, interior surfaces and Colour
Lines add a touch of individual style to the interior of the new
MINI 3 door, the new MINI 5 door and the new MINI Convertible. New
features for the MINI 3 door and the MINI 5 door include the Chester
leather trim in Malt Brown and a Colour Line now also available in
Malt Brown.

In addition, the option MINI Yours Interior Style Piano Black is now
available with illumination. As well as surfaces in the area of the
doors and centre console finished in Piano Black, this also includes a
rear-lit decorative strip for the instrument panel on the passenger
side. The latter is likewise finished in Piano Black as well as
bearing a stylised Union Jack motif. The colour of the background
lighting for the decorative strip is the same as the mood of the
ambient lighting selected by the driver as part of the MINI Excitement Package.

Maximum individualisation: MINI Yours Customised.

The MINI Yours Customised program now raises hallmark brand
individualisation to a whole new level. It includes retrofit products
whose design can be created by customers themselves, which are then
produced precisely according to these individual specifications. The
MINI Yours Customised range includes side scuttles, decorative strips
for the interior on the passenger side, LED door sill finishers and
LED door projectors.

MINI Yours Customised products can be selected, designed and ordered
through a specially created online shop (www.yours-customised.mini).
Here customers can choose between various colours, patterns, surface
structures and icons, as well as contributing their own texts and
adding a touch of personal style to the design. This creative
interaction between manufacturer and customer enables MINI fans to
turn their vehicle into a unique specimen that bears the stamp of
their own personality. The individualised products are manufactured
using innovative production techniques such as various 3D printing
methods and laser engraving.

Drive: increased driving fun and efficiency, reduced weight.

A detailed revision of the engines offered for the new MINI 3 door,
the new MINI 5 door and the new MINI Convertible mainly benefits
driving fun. It also leads to a reduction in fuel consumption and CO2
figures by as much as five per cent, as well as optimising emissions
so as to be able to comply with the more rigorous exhaust emission
standards of the future. Further development has been applied across
the board, including the basic engine, MINI TwinPower Turbo
Technology, engine electronics, oil supply, intake air ducting, the
cooling system and the exhaust systems. It was also possible to reduce
the weight of the drive units. The engine covers are made of carbon
fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP), so they are now lighter, too. The
material used to make them is carbon fibre recyclate generated in the
production of BMW i automobiles.

The 3-cylinder petrol engines of the MINI One First and the MINI One
now draw their power from a capacity of 1.5 litres. This increases
maximum torque by 10 Nm, taking it to 160 and 190 Nm respectively. In
addition, all petrol engines feature petrol direct injection with the
maximum pressure increased from 200 to 350 bar and turbocharger blades
made of highly heat-resilient material. The common rail direct
injection in the diesel engines ensures that fuel is fed to the
combustion chambers with even greater precision. For this purpose, the
maximum injection pressure in the 3-cylinder engines of the MINI One D
and the MINI Cooper D has been increased to 2 200 bar and in the
4-cylinder of the MINI Cooper SD to 2 500 bar. What is more, the most
powerful of the three diesel engines is now fitted with dual-level turbocharging.

New: 7-speed Steptronic transmission with double clutch,
8-speed Steptronic transmission.

As an alternative to the standard 6-speed manual transmission, a
7-speed Steptronic transmission with double clutch is optionally
available for the models MINI One, MINI Cooper, MINI Cooper S and
MINI Cooper D. The new transmission type is characterised by very fast
gearshifts, enabling extremely sporty acceleration manoeuvres without
torque interrupt. It is operated using a newly designed electronic
gear selector lever. A 7-speed Steptronic sports transmission with
double clutch is also available for the MINI Cooper S. This includes
shift paddles at the steering wheel for particularly spontaneous
manual intervention in the choice of gear.

The MINI Cooper SD now comes with an 8-speed Steptronic transmission
as standard. This 8-speed automatic transmission is unique in the
small car segment and allows the output of the most powerful diesel
engine to be transferred to the front wheels in a particularly sporty
and harmonious manner. The 8-speed Steptronic transmission is also
operated by means of an electronic gear selector lever, while an
8-speed Steptronic sports transmission with shift paddles is likewise
available as an option.

All Steptronic transmissions available for the new MINI 3 door, the
new MINI 5 door and the new MINI Convertible allow use of the coasting
function in MID and GREEN mode as well as the latest generation of the
auto start/stop function. Navigation and front camera data can now be
incorporated in the control of the latter, too. If the vehicle is
fitted accordingly, this allows situations to be identified in which
it is better not to switch off the engine: for example when stopping
briefly before making a turn or entering a roundabout, or if the
traffic ahead has started moving again.

centre armrest enables wireless charging of mobile phones which offer
this capability. This option also includes a second USB socket in the
front section of the centre console.

The optional MINI Excitement Package now also includes the MINI logo
projection on the driver's side. When the vehicle is opened and
closed, the new MINI logo is projected onto the ground in front of the
door from a light source in the exterior mirror and can be seen there
for 20 seconds, or permanently if the door is left open.

MINI Connected: a range of digital services that is unique
within the segment.

With the new MINI Connected functions, MINI offers a diverse range of
digital services at premium level that is unique in the small car
segment. New features include Real Time Traffic Information and the
automatic navigation map update via mobile phone connection, the
personal Concierge Service and the vehicle internet portal MINI Online
with news, weather and fuel price overview. There is also an optional
preparation for Apple CarPlay.

The new services are available in three packages. The option
Connected Media includes digital infotainment facilities that can be
used with the Radio MINI Visual Boost, while Connected Navigation
turns the MINI navigation system into an intelligently networked
information centre. The Connected Navigation Plus package includes all
the MINI Connected XL functions.

The personal mobility assistant MINI Connected now enables drivers of
the new MINI 3 door, the new MINI 5 door and the new MINI Convertible
to integrate their vehicle and mobility planning seamlessly into their
day-to-day digital routine. Meanwhile the MINI Connected App provides
connectivity with digital touchpoints such as a smartphone or smart
watch. For example, MINI Connected can draw on calendar entries and
contact data entered in a smartphone to plan a route and determine the
ideal time to set off based on real time traffic data. The Send to Car
function enables planned routes to be sent to the MINI navigation
system, while Remote Services allow the driver not just to display
vehicle location, fuel level and other vehicle status details on their
digital end device, but also activate the headlight flasher, horn,
ventilation and door lock/unlock function.

Intelligent networking of the MINI is via a SIM card integrated in
the vehicle: this now complies with the mobile communications standard
4G. It also enables the use of MINI Teleservices and the Intelligent
Emergency Call with automatic detection of vehicle location and
accident severity.

Services now available in the new MINI 3 door, the new MINI 5 door
and the new MINI Convertible for the first time also include MINI Find
Mate. This consists of so-called tags with a wireless tracking
function that can be attached to frequently used objects and travel
items such as bags, cases, key rings and rucksacks. Their position can
not only be displayed on the on-board computer but also in the MINI
Connected App on a smartphone. In this way, MINI Find Mate helps
prevent personal items getting lost or left behind.

Press Contact: Andreas Lampka
Tel: +491754381050
E-mail: andreas.lampka@bmwgroup.com

Convertible,5 Door,3 Door,Cooper,Cooper Convertible,Product,MINI
