Munich. Starting in the summer of 2021, new drive
variants, special equipment features and additional exterior and
interior design options will enhance driving pleasure, comfort and
the individual character of a large number of BMW models. From July
2021, there will be a choice of three new model variants of the new
BMW 4 Series Coupe, and a straight six-cylinder diesel engine is now
also available for the BMW 4 Series Convertible. Furthermore,
additional exterior colours and seat surfaces will be on offer for
models of the BMW 3 Series and 4 Series.

Moreover, as from the summer of 2021, new exterior colours will
also be available for the BMW 1 Series and the BMW 2 Series Gran
Coupe. In addition, a number of models will feature an upgraded
version of the Lane Departure Warning with additional functions.
Optional 4-zone automatic climate control will in future also
include a nanoparticle filter for the BMW 5 Series, the BMW 6 Series
Gran Turismo and the BMW M5 model variants. The plug-in hybrid
models of the BMW 5 Series Touring can now also be fitted with
19-inch light alloy wheels and – like the electrified versions of
the BMW 3 Series, the BMW 5 Series Sedan, the BMW 7 Series and the
BMW X5 – will feature new exterior and interior design accents.

BMW 4 Series Coupe: New four-wheel drive models and a BMW M
automobile with classic rear-wheel drive.

From July 2021, the BMW 4 Series model range will be complemented
by two additional four-wheel drive variants – the new BMW 430i
xDrive Coupe (combined fuel consumption: 7.7 – 6.9 l/100 km
according to WLTP; combined CO2 emissions: 176 – 157 g/km according
to WLTP) and the new BMW 420i xDrive Coupe (combined fuel
consumption: 7.5 – 6.6 l/100 km according to WLTP; combined CO2
emissions: 170 – 151 g/km according to WLTP). This means that the
two four-cylinder petrol-driven models can now transfer drive torque
to the road assisted by intelligent four-wheel drive technology.
Power distribution is available on demand in any situation and is
combined with rear-wheel orientation of the system, guaranteeing a
classic form of driving pleasure. With a maximum power output of 180
kW/245 hp, the BMW 430i xDrive Coupe accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h
in 5.7 seconds. For the BMW 420i xDrive Coupe with 135 kW/184 hp
this figure is 7.8 seconds. Both models are equipped as standard
with an 8-speed Steptronic transmission.

At the top of the BMW 4 Series Coupe model range the trend will go
in the opposite direction for the additional variants. Up till now,
intelligent four-wheel drive was standard on these models, but in
future the BMW M440i Coupe (combined fuel consumption: 8.1 – 7.4
l/100 km according to WLTP; combined CO2 emissions: 184 – 167 g/km
according to WLTP) will be available with classic rear-wheel drive.
Under the bonnet of the new version of the BMW M automobile, the 275
kW/374 kW straight six-cylinder petrol power plant guarantees
exceptionally puristic driving pleasure. The car takes a mere 4.8
seconds to sprint from a standstill to 100 km/h. Furthermore, in the
case of the BMW M440i Coupe, an 8-speed Steptronic sports
transmission and an M Sport differential on the rear axle assist
with the transfer of motive power to the road.

Premiere for the BMW 430d Convertible, new exterior colours
and seat surfaces for the BMW 3 Series and the BMW 4 Series.

From July 2021, a new engine variant will be added to the drive
portfolio for the new BMW 4 Series Convertible. The new straight
six-cylinder diesel engine for the BMW 430d Convertible (combined
fuel consumption: 6.0 – 5.3 l/100 km according to WLTP; combined CO2
emissions: 156 – 139 g/km according to WLTP) mobilises a maximum
output of 210 kW/286 hp and a peak torque of 650 Nm. Pulling power
and efficiency of the drive system are enhanced thanks to two-stage
turbo charging and mild hybrid technology with a 48-volt starter
generator. The new BMW 430d Convertible accelerates from 0 to 100
km/h in just 5.8 seconds.

The choice of exterior colours is being extended both for the new
BMW 4 Series Coupe and the BMW 4 Series Convertible. New to the
range are the BMW Individual colour Aventurin Red metallic and the
variant M Brooklyn Grey metallic, both of which are available in
conjunction with the model M Sport and the BMW M automobiles of the
BMW 4 Series. As a new optional feature for the interior of the BMW
4 Series Coupe, seat surfaces in perforated Sensatec can be ordered.
These are available with a choice of four colours.

From July 2021, these upholstery variants will also be available
for the BMW 3 Series Sedan and the BMW 3 Series Touring in
conjunction with the optional sports seats. Likewise, the BMW
Individual colour Aventurin Red metallic is also on offer for models
of the BMW 3 Series.

BMW 1 Series and BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe: Upgraded storage
package, new colours.

The new cargo function, which forms a part of the optional storage
package for the BMW 1 Series, will ensure greater luggage
compartment variability as from July 2021. With this function, the
angle of the rear seat backs can be adjusted as desired. Even in the
most upright position, sitting comfort is ensured in the second row,
at least over short distances, whilst luggage compartment volume is
simultaneously increased by around 40 litres. Moreover, the storage
package for the BMW 1 Series will in future also comprise a stowage
net on the right of the luggage compartment.

In addition, a new exterior colour will be on offer for the BMW 1
Series. In future, the compact five-door car will also be available
in the colour variant Snapper Rocks Blue metallic. Two new exterior
finishes will supplement the choice of colours for the BMW 2 Series
Gran Coupe: Phytonic Blue metallic and Skyscraper Grey metallic.

Lane Departure Warning with optimised functionality on
narrow lanes.

Starting in July 2021, the driver assistance system Lane Departure
Warning will contribute more than ever towards an increase in
comfort and safety in many BMW models thanks to a functionality that
is even more precisely aligned to each driving situation. At speeds
exceeding 70 km/h, the camera-based system helps the driver avoid
unintentional lane change. In respective situations, the driver is
warned by means of steering wheel vibration. Furthermore, a steering
impulse helps the driver direct the vehicle back into the correct
lane position. In future, on narrow country roads with a lane width
of less than 2.60 metres and without a central lane marking, this
steering impulse will be overriden. In the case of oncoming traffic,
use of the outer edge of the lane will then be possible without any
loss in comfort.

The latest version of the Lane Departure Warning feature is
available for all model variants of the BMW 3 Series, BMW 4 Series,
BMW 5 Series, BMW 6 Series, BMW 7 Series and BMW 8 Series as well as
the BMW X5, the BMW X6, the BMW X7, the BMW M3, the BMW M4, the BMW
M5 and the BMW M8. These models are all equipped as standard with
this system.

New for the BMW 5 Series, the BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo and
the BMW M5: 4-zone-automatic climate control with nanoparticle filter.

The optional 4-zone automatic climate control feature facilitates
separate control of temperature and ventilation rate for both the
driver and front passenger as well as for the right and left rear
compartment areas. The latest version now also comprises a
nanoparticle filter, which ensures further enhanced interior air
quality using nano-fleece and active carbon layers. Nanofibre filter
technology is also active when using the auxiliary ventilation
function. Consequently, it is possible to purify the air inside the
car quickly and thoroughly before starting off on a journey.

The 4-zone automatic climate control with nanoparticle filter is a
standard feature for the BMW X7 and is already offered as an option
for BMW 7 Series luxury sedans, BMW 8 Series luxury sports cars and
for the models BMW X5, BMW X6, BMW X5 M, BMW X6 M and BMW M8. From
July, it will also be available for all BMW 5 Series, BMW 6 Series
Gran Turismo and BMW M5 model variants.

Plug-in hybrid models with new design accents.

In an ever-growing number of BMW models, precisely controlled
interaction between a combustion engine and an electric motor
ensures exemplary efficiency and a special form of driving pleasure.
As from July 2021, plug-in hybrid models of the BMW 3 Series, BMW 5
Series, BMW 7 Series and BMW X5 will be recognisable by their fresh
exterior and interior design accents. New lettering on the tailgate
and on the opposite front sidewall indicates that the vehicle is
“electrified by i”. Moreover, the BMW emblems on the bonnet, the
tailgate, wheel hubs and steering wheel feature a BMW i Blue surround.

The choice of light alloy wheels available for electrified model
variants of the BMW 5 Series Touring offer new possibilities for
individualisation. The three plug-in hybrid models come fitted with
18-inch light alloys as standard. Starting in July 2021, customers
can opt for 19-inch alloys in five different variants.

Sustainably produced tyres for BMW X5 plug-in hybrid models:
BMW Group first automobile manufacturer to use new Pirelli tyres
made from FSC-certified natural rubber.

The BMW Group reinforces its commitment in the field of
sustainability. BMW is the world’s first carmaker to equip a model
with tyres made from sustainably cultivated, certified natural
rubber and Rayon, a wood-based tyre reinforcement material. The
company is initially purchasing the 22-inch tyres exclusively from
Pirelli and, as from August 2021, will offer them as special
equipment for the BMW X5 xDrive45e plug-in hybrid model (combined
fuel consumption: 1.7 – 1.2 l/100 km according to WLTP, 2.1 – 1.6
l/100 km according to NEDC; combined power consumption: 27.7 – 24.3
kWh/100 km according to WLTP, 25.2 – 23.5 kWh/100 km according to
NEDC; combined CO2 emissions: 39 – 27 g/km according to WLTP, 47 –
37 g/km according to NEDC).

Cultivation and the complex supply chain of the natural rubber and
Rayon used for these tyres are certified according to the stringent
standards of the independent organisation Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).

New equipment options for the BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo and
the BMW X6.

In addition to its outstanding long-distance suitability, the BMW 6
Series Gran Turismo also scores with its dynamic handling qualities.
The M multifunctional seats, which, from July 2021, will be added to
the range of special equipment options available for the luxury
model, offer both driver and front passenger the ideal place to
enjoy driving comfort and sporty handling. With integrated headrests
and optimised side and shoulder support, they offer the driver
maximum stability during dynamic cornering. M multifunctional seats
also include electrically operated adjustment of the sitting
position, backrest angle, backrest width, thigh support and headrest height.

Innovations in the range of special equipment for the BMW X6
provide the interior with a striking look and sporting flair. As
from the summer of 2021, the Sports Activity Coupe can also be
ordered with the exterior colour Piemont Red metallic. In future,
standard equipment for the BMW X6 will also include a BMW M
anthracite roof liner.

As from the summer of 2021, a new visual accent will emphasise the
sporting flair of the interior of the BMW X6. Standard equipment for
the Sports Activity Coupe will in future also include a BMW M
anthracite roof liner.

Munich. With the introduction of 48-volt mild hybrid
technology in additional model series from summer 2020, BMW continues
to consistently reduce fuel consumption and emissions in its current
vehicle fleet. From July and August 2020, both efficiency and dynamic
performance will be optimised in 51 models with the use of a
particularly powerful starter generator and an additional battery.
This also applies to the new in-line 6-cylinder diesel engines in the
BMW 7 Series and in the BMW X3, BMW X4, BMW X5, BMW X6 and BMW X7. Two
additional engine variants are available for the BMW 2 Series Gran
Coupé from July 2020 onwards. In numerous plug-in hybrid models, the
new BMW eDrive Zone function will ensure an automatic switch to purely
electric operating mode when entering inner city areas such as low
emission zones.

The extension of the range of standard and optional equipment
features in the areas of driver assistance systems, operation and
networking contributes to an increase in driving pleasure. A new
display and control system will be part of the standard trim in the
new BMW 3 Series from July 2020. Among other things, BMW Operating
System 7 enables use of the optional BMW Intelligent Personal
Assistant. Furthermore, in the BMW 3 Series and other model series the
range of functions of the optional Driving Assistant Professional is
supplemented by Active Navigation Guidance and the Emergency Lane
Assistant. With the optional smartphone integration, numerous current
BMW models will enable use of Android Auto in addition to Apple
CarPlay as of summer 2020.

Increased dynamic performance and reduced fuel consumption:
48-volt mild hybrid technology now in 51 BMW models.
From summer 2020 onwards, mild hybrid
technology will be used in numerous additional BMW models to provide
support and relief for the combustion engine. It consists of a 48-volt
starter generator that enables particularly intensive braking energy
recuperation along with an additional battery to store the electricity
that is generated in this way. The 48-volt battery not only supplies
the electrically operated vehicle functions, it also makes its energy
available to generate additional drive power. For this purpose the
current flows back to the starter generator, which now takes on the
role of an electric drive. This reduces the load on the combustion
engine, allowing it to run as often as possible in an
efficiency-optimised load range. What is more, the generator creates
an electric boost during acceleration. This instantly available
additional output of 8 kW/11 hp supports dynamic power delivery during
start and acceleration.

The 48-volt mild hybrid technology was first introduced in selected
model variants of the BMW 5 Series in autumn 2019. This was followed
by the BMW 3 Series models and several BMW X models. From July and
August 2020, it will be available as standard in 37 further model
variants of the BMW 3 Series, BMW 5 Series, BMW 6 Series and BMW 7
Series as well as the BMW X3, BMW X4, BMW X5, BMW X6 and BMW X7. All
in all it will ensure efficiency and dynamic performance in 51 current
BMW models.

More power, less emissions: the new in-line 6-cylinder diesel
engines with optimised BMW TwinPower Turbo Technology.
A new generation of in-line 6-cylinder engines
will make its debut in numerous BMW model series in summer 2020. These
highly efficient aluminium power units, each with a capacity of 3.0
litres, combine their extensively further developed BMW TwinPower
Turbo Technology with the new 48-volt mild hybrid system, thereby
achieving particularly significant progress within the context of BMW
EfficientDynamics. In addition to optimised turbocharging systems, the
latest version of common rail direct injection with piezo injectors
ensures that both performance and efficiency are significantly
increased in the new diesel engines. The injectors now transport fuel
to the combustion chambers in up to ten injections per cycle and at a
maximum pressure of 2,700 bar.

With maximum output increased by 15 kW/21 hp to 210 kW/286 hp, the
new diesel engine for the models BMW 730d (combined fuel consumption:
4.9 – 4.7 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 128 – 123 g/km)
and BMW 730d xDrive (combined fuel consumption: 5.2 – 5.0 l/100 km;
combined CO2 emissions: 138 – 133 g/km), BMW 730Ld
(combined fuel consumption: 5.0 – 4.8 l/100 km; combined
CO2 emissions: 130 – 126 g/km), BMW 730Ld xDrive (combined
fuel consumption: 5.3 – 5.1 l/100 km; combined CO2
emissions: 139 – 133 g/km), BMW X3 xDrive30d (combined fuel
consumption: 5.6 – 5.2 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions:
147 – 137 g/km), BMW X4 xDrive30d (combined fuel consumption:
5.6 – 5.1 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions:
146 – 136 g/km), BMW X5 xDrive30d (combined fuel consumption:
6.2 – 5.7 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 164 – 150 g/km)
und BMW X6 xDrive30d (combined fuel consumption: 6.2 – 5.7 l/100 km;
combined CO2 emissions: 162 – 149 g/km) demonstrates a
perceptibly enhanced temperament. Its particularly spontaneous power
delivery is due to the multi-stage turbocharging used for the first
time in this version of the in-line 6-cylinder diesel engine, along
with variable turbine geometry for the low-pressure stage of the
system. Increased by 30 to 650 Nm, the maximum torque of the new drive
unit goes on stream at between 1,500 and 2,500 rpm – a power boost
that especially results in enhanced sprint capacity. For example, the
BMW 730d and the BMW 730d xDrive have improved their acceleration from
zero to 100 km/h by 0.2 seconds each to 5.9 and 5.6 seconds respectively.

The new diesel engine now also used in the BMW 740d xDrive models BMW
740d xDrive (combined fuel consumption: 5.4 – 5.2 l/100 km; combined
CO2 emissions: 142 – 136 g/km), BMW 740Ld xDrive (combined
fuel consumption: 5.4 – 5.2 l/100 km; combined CO2
emissions: 143 – 137 g/km), BMW X3 M40d (combined fuel consumption:
6.0 – 5.6 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions:
157 – 148 g/km), BMW X4 M40d (combined fuel consumption:
5.9 – 5.6 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 156 – 147 g/km)
und BMW X7 xDrive40d (combined fuel consumption: 6.6 – 6.4 l/100 km;
combined CO2 emissions: 173 – 167 g/km) generates even
greater pulling power. Its multi-stage turbocharging system comprises
a high-pressure and a low-pressure turbocharger with variable turbine
geometry. As a result, a maximum torque of 700 Nm is delivered between
1,750 and 2,250 rpm. The engine reaches its peak output of 250 kW/340
hp at 4 400 rpm. In the BMW 740d xDrive, for example, this increased
power helps achieve a sprint from standstill to 100 km/h that is also
improved by 0.2 seconds to 5.0 seconds.

The two new engines are feature exhaust gas treatment technology with
engine-related components consisting of a diesel oxidation catalytic
converter and an SCR coating on the diesel particulate filter. For
optimum reduction of nitrogen oxide (NOX) emissions, a
second dosage unit is additionally integrated at the outlet of the
engine-related SCR system. As a result, the models powered by the new
in-line 6-cylinder diesel engines meet the Euro 6d emissions standard.

Expansion of the model range for the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé.
The BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé model range
will be extended from July 2020 with the addition of two new engine
variants. A new entry-level diesel engine and an additional all-wheel
drive model variant are available for the sporty, elegant four-door
model in the premium compact segment. The new BMW 218d Gran Coupé
(combined fuel consumption: 4.5 – 4.2 l/100 km; combined
CO2 emissions: 118 – 109 g/km) is powered by the latest
version of a 4-cylinder diesel engine. The BMW TwinPower Turbo
Technology in the 2.0-litre power unit now includes a two-stage
turbocharging system as well as a likewise further developed common
rail direct injection featuring solenoid valve injectors. The new
engine delivers its maximum torque of 350 Nm between 1,750 and 2,500
rpm, reaching a maximum output of 110 kW/150 hp at 4,000 rpm. The new
BMW 218d Gran Coupé accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 8.6 seconds
with the standard 6-speed manual transmission and in 8.5 seconds with
the optional 8-speed Steptronic transmission.

The second diesel engine available for the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé
delivers a maximum output of 140 kW/190 hp and a maximum torque of 400
Nm. In the new BMW 220d xDrive Gran Coupé (combined fuel consumption:
4.9 – 4.5 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 129 – 119 g/km)
it is now combined with intelligent all-wheel drive and an 8-speed
Steptronic transmission. This enables the new model variant to
accelerate from standstill to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds. Thanks to
state-of-the-art exhaust gas treatment including SCR catalytic
converter with AdBlue injection, both new models meet the Euro 6d
emissions standard.

Green light for BMW eDrive Zone: locally emissions-free travel
in the city on an automated basis.
Innovative technology from the fields of
electrification and digitalisation is combined in the new BMW eDrive
Zone function available in the premium car manufacturer’s plug-in
hybrid models. This globally unique digital service offers additional
options for making optimum use of the capabilities of emissions-free
driving. The BMW eDrive Zone function triggers an automatic switch to
purely electric operating mode as soon as the vehicle enters selected
urban areas such as low-emission zones.

BMW eDrive Zone will be a standard feature of all plug-in hybrid
models of the BMW 3 Series, BMW 5 Series and BMW 7 Series as well as
the BMW X5. The digital service uses geo-fencing technology via GPS to
identify designated areas. eDrive zones of this kind are currently
designated in some 80 cities throughout Europe. When the service is
activated, each available eDrive Zone on the navigation map is
graphically highlighted in the Control Display: a message appears to
inform the driver that the vehicle will automatically switch to
electric driving mode as soon as it enters an eDrive Zone.

From summer 2020, the above-mentioned plug-in hybrid models will also
be fitted with an integrated drive-ready sound for electric power as
standard. This means that both starting and stopping the electric
drive will be accompanied by a distinctive acoustic signal. In
addition there has been an expansion of the range of preconditioning
functions, which is also a standard feature. Depending on the
equipment fitted, more functions will be available that can be
activated remotely by smartphone, in addition to interior cooling and
heating. In future it will also be possible to activate the seat
climate control before the start of a journey, for example. In the
same way it will be possible to include the seat, steering wheel,
exterior mirror and rear window heating systems in the preconditioning
for heating the interior, as well as heating of the cameras for the
driver assistance systems.

BMW 3 Series Sedan and BMW 3 Series Touring now fitted with
BMW Operating System 7 as standard.
In
the new BMW 3 Series, the latest generation of the display and control
system will be a standard feature as of summer 2020. Previously only
used in conjunction with BMW Live Cockpit Professional, BMW Operating
System 7 offers extensive individualisation and personalisation of the
content shown on the Control Display. The standard BMW Live Cockpit
now also includes a redesigned instrument cluster with a 5.1-inch
digital display at its centre. BMW Live Cockpit Plus, like BMW Live
Cockpit Professional, also includes the BMW Intelligent Personal
Assistant. This digital companion enables intuitive operation of
numerous vehicle functions via voice control (“Hey, BMW”). In the BMW
1 Series and BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé, BMW Operating System 7 will also
be part of the optional BMW Live Cockpit Plus from July 2020.

The M sports seats are new to the range of optional extras for the
new BMW 3 Series Sedan and the new BMW 3 Series Touring. They feature
excellent lateral support, a wide range of adjustment options and
headrests with embossed M logo. The M sports seats for driver and
front passenger are available in conjunction with the Model M Sport
equipment line as well as for the BMW M automobiles of the new BMW 3
Series. The choice of exterior colours for the new BMW 3 Series is
supplemented by the variant Phytonic Blue metallic.

Increased comfort and safety: Driving Assistant Professional
with additional functions.
The optional
Driving Assistant Professional is a particularly comprehensive
collection of driver assistance systems designed to optimise comfort
and safety: it is being used by BMW to pave the way to automated
driving in numerous current models. The focus is on the steering and
lane guidance assistant, which will be enhanced with additional
functions from summer 2020 in the BMW 3 Series, BMW 5 Series, BMW 6
Series and BMW 8 Series, in the BMW X5, BMW X6 and BMW X7, and in all
variants of the BMW M5 and BMW M8.

The new Active Navigation Guidance indicates lane changes that are
necessary in order to continue driving along the selected route when
destination guidance is active. The driver can then carry out this
operation conveniently with the aid of the lane change assistant.
Emergency Lane Assistant is another new function: this automatically
guides the vehicle to the ideal edge of its lane in congested
situations on motorways. In addition, Active Cruise Control with Stop
& Go function will in future include an adaptive distance control
that adapts to the respective traffic situation and environmental conditions.

Further progress is also being made in the intelligent control of the
Speed Limit Info system with No Passing Indicator. In all model
variants of the BMW 1 Series, BMW 3 Series, BMW 5 Series, BMW 6
Series, BMW 7 Series and BMW 8 Series, the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé,
the BMW Z4, the BMW X5, the BMW X6 and the BMW X7 as well as the BMW
M5, the BMW M8, the BMW X5 M and the BMW X6 M, road sign detection
will in future additionally take into account speed limits that are
restricted in time and only apply on certain days of the week. On days
other, the speed limit derived from the navigation data is displayed.

Optimised smartphone integration: Android Auto can now also be
used in the vehicle in addition to Apple CarPlay.
Depending on the model series, either standard
or optional smartphone integration will enable use not just of Apple
CarPlay but also of the digital services provided by Android Auto in
numerous current BMW models as of summer 2020. This means that owners
of a smartphone with the Android operating system can now access their
familiar smartphone apps in the vehicle, just like users of an Apple
iPhone. These include the digital voice assistant Google Assistant,
the map service Google Maps, music streaming services such as Spotify
and Amazon Music, and the messaging service WhatsApp.

The systems are integrated directly in the vehicle's display and
control system via a wireless LAN connection between the respective
smartphone and the vehicle. Here, the driver can view all the
important information from the apps on the Control Display and also
navigation directions in the instrument cluster and the optional
Head-Up Display.

BMW 7 Series and BMW 8 Series with optimised Integral Active
Steering.
Sporty flair and ride comfort
in the BMW 7 Series luxury sedans and the luxury sports cars of the
BMW 8 Series benefit from Integral Active Steering. The optional
suspension system combines a variable rack and pinion ratio on the
front axle with selective co-steering of the rear wheels. Even at
particularly low speeds of less than 3 km/h, the rear wheels are now
countersteered. This gives the models of the BMW 7 Series and BMW 8
Series additional manoeuvrability when moving slowly in and out of
parking spaces or passing through narrow gaps.

In addition, the BMW 7 Series will be available from July 2020 in the

Munich. BMW continues to consistently pursue the
improvement of emissions in all combustion engines in summer 2018. As
of July 2018, all petrol and plug-in hybrid models of the brand
available in Germany will be fitted as standard with a petrol engine
particulate filter and thus will already comply with the exhaust
standard Euro 6d-TEMP. BluePerformance Technology including SCR
catalytic converter with AdBlue injection has been a standard feature
of all BMW diesel models since March 2018. This means they all offer
highly efficient, multi-stage exhaust gas treatment consisting of NOx
storage catalytic converter and SCR system (Selective Catalytic
Reduction). Due to the particularly effective reduction of particulate
emissions achieved, these comply with what will then be the most
rigorous exhaust standard, namely Euro 6d-TEMP. In addition, another
39 diesel models will be going on the market with Euro 6d-TEMP rating.

Additional model variants of the BMW X3 and the BMW X4 will be
available from August 2018 onwards. As early as July 2018 there will
be an increase in the number of models in the BMW 1 Series, BMW 3
Series, BMW 4 Series and BMW 5 Series which are fitted as standard
with an 8-speed Steptronic transmission. Another newcomer to the model
range is the BMW 1 Series Edition Metropolitan.

For the BMW 530e iPerformance Sedan (combined fuel consumption: 2.1 –
1.9 l/100 km; combined power consumption: 14.113.1 l/100 km*; combined
CO2 emissions: 49 – 44 g/km), the optional equipment item BMW Wireless
Charging will be available ex works from July 2018. The option BMW
Connected eDrive Services available for the BMW i and BMW iPerformance
automobiles will also include the BMW Digital Charging Service in
future. What is more, an aerodynamics package is available for the BMW
i8 Roadster (combined fuel consumption: 2.0 l/100 km; combined power
consumption 14.5 kWh/100 km; combined CO2 emissions 46 g/km).

BMW X3 and BMW X4: new model variations with in-line
6-cylinder engines.

With the premiere of the BMW X3 M40d (combined fuel consumption: 6.5
– 6.4 l/100 km; combined CO2emissions 172 – 169 g/km*), the number of
engines available to choose from for the Sports Activity Vehicle in
the premium mid-range segment increases to seven. What is more, this
newcomer is now the second BMW M Performance model in the series. In
the BMW X3 M40d, an in-line 6-cylinder diesel engine generates a peak
output of 240 kW/326 hp and a maximum torque of 680 N m already
available at 1 750 rpm thanks to multi-stage turbocharging and common
rail direct injection with piezo injectors, accelerating the car from
zero to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds.

A second in-line 6-cylinder diesel engine will be offered for the
Sports Activity Coupé as of August 2018. The power unit in the new BMW
X4 xDrive30d (combined fuel consumption: 6.0 – 5.8 l/100 km; combined
CO2 emissions 158 – 153 g/km*) generates a peak output of 195 kW/265
hp and a maximum torque of 620 Nm. It takes the car just 5.8 seconds
to accelerate from standing to 100 km/h. All new model variants of the
BMW X3 and the BMW X4 are fitted as standard with an 8-speed
Steptronic sports transmission.

8-speed Steptronic transmission as standard in additional
models.

Fast gearshifts, a high level of shift comfort and excellent
efficiency are the benefits of the 8-speed Steptronic transmission,
now to become a standard feature of numerous additional BMW models as
of July 2018. In the premium compact segment, the BMW 120i 3 door and
the BMW 120 i 5 door (combined fuel consumption: 6.1 – 5.9 l/100 km;
combined CO2 emissions 139 – 134 g/km) will also feature automatic
gear selection as standard in future. Meanwhile the further enhanced
shift dynamics of the 8-speed Steptronic sports transmission can be
experienced as standard in the BMW M140i 3 door and the BMW M140i 5
door (combined fuel consumption: 7.4 – 7.4 l/100 km; combined CO2
emissions 169 – 168 g/km).

In the BMW 3 Series, eight additional models will be fitted with the
8-speed Steptronic transmission as standard from July 2018 onwards.
These are the BMW 320i Gran Turismo (combined fuel consumption: 6.3 –
6.2 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions 143 – 141 g/km) and the BMW 320i
xDrive Sedan (combined fuel consumption: 6.5 – 6.4 l/100 km; combined
CO2 emissions 148 – 146 g/km), the BMW 320i xDrive Touring (combined
fuel consumption: 6.7 – 6.6 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions 154 – 151
g/km) and the BMW 320i xDrive Gran Turismo (combined fuel consumption:
6.8 – 6.7 l/100 km; combined COCO2 emissions 156 – 152 g/km). The
models BMW 330i Sedan (combined fuel consumption: 6.1 – 6.0 l/100 km;
combined CO2 emissions 140 – 137 g/km) and BMW 330i Touring (combined
fuel consumption: 6.3 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions 145 g/km) and
BMW 340i Sedan (combined fuel consumption: 7.4 l/100 km; combined CO2
emissions 168 g/km) and the BMW 340i xDrive Sedan (combined fuel
consumption: 7.7 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions 174 g/km) will also
include an automatic transmission as a standard fitting in the future.

Six model variants of the BMW 4 Series will benefit from the new
standard engine-transmission combination, too: the BMW 420i
Convertible (combined fuel consumption: 6.4 – 6.2 l/100 km; combined
CO2 emissions 146 – 143 g/km), the BMW 420i xDrive Gran Coupé
(combined fuel consumption: 6.6 – 6.5 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions
151 – 148 g/km), the BMW 430i Convertible (combined fuel consumption:
6.5 – 6.3 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions 148 – 144 g/km) and the BMW
430i Gran Coupé (combined fuel consumption: 6.1 – 6.0 l/100 km;
combined CO2 emissions 140 – 137 g/km) and the BMW 440i Coupé
(combined fuel consumption: 7.5 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions 170
g/km) and the BMW 440i xDrive Coupé (combined fuel consumption: 7.7
l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions 174 g/km).

The range of models fitted as standard with the 8-speed Steptronic
transmission in future is rounded off with the BMW 520d Sedan
(combined fuel consumption: 4.6 – 4.5 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions
121 – 117 g/km) and the BMW 520d Touring (combined fuel consumption:
4.9 – 4.7 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions 128 – 123 g/km).

a particularly expressive look. This body finish will also be offered
for the high-performance sedan BMW M5 (combined fuel consumption: 10.5
l/100km; combined CO2 emissions: 241 g/100km, provisional values), for
which it is also possible to select the variant Frozen Marina Bay Blue
metallic – likewise a new option.

From July 2018, the optionally available electroplating applications
for selected controls will make for an exclusive sheen in the interior
of the BMW 5 Series Sedan, the BMW 5 Series Touring and the BMW 6
Series Gran Turismo. This high-quality surface refinement is applied
to the steering wheel switches, the start/stop button, the volume
control on the audio system, the air conditioning controls and the
switch panels on the driver and front passenger doors.

BMW 7 Series: BMW Individual composition that can be combined
with other exterior finishes.

The BMW Individual composition provides a highly exclusive ambience
in the interior of the BMW 7 Series Sedan by means of exquisite
materials and a subtly harmonised colour scheme. The option comprising
BMW Individual full Merino fine-grain leather trim, BMW Individual
interior trim finishers, a BMW Individual leather steering wheel and a
BMW Individual roof liner can be combined with additional body
finishes from July 2018 onwards. In future the selection will also
include the variants Alpine White non-metallic, Sapphire Black
metallic, Kashmir Silver metallic, Glacier Silver metallic, Imperial
Blue Brilliant Effect metallic, Sophisto Grey Brilliant Effect
metallic, Mineral White metallic, Jatoba metallic, Magellan Grey
metallic, Arctic Grey Brilliant Effect metallic and Atlas Cedar metallic.

Aerodynamics package for the BMW i8 Roadster.

The plug-in hybrid drive of the BMW i8 Roadster (combined fuel
consumption 2,0 l/100 km; combined electricity consumption 14,5
kWh/100 km; combined CO2 emissions 46 g/km) guarantees a particularly
progressive combination of sporty dynamic performance and efficiency
for open-top driving. The car's supreme driving properties can be
further optimised by means of the new aerodynamics package. This is
made up of a dual-section front splitter and a spoiler lip for the
rear of the two-seater model.

Charging is simpler than fuelling: launch of BMW Wireless
Charging.

The innovative option BMW Wireless Charging offers maximum comfort
when charging the high-voltage battery of a plug-in hybrid model. BMW
is the world's first automobile manufacturer to offer a system of
inductive charging where a cable is no longer required to feed
electric current into the vehicle's battery. From 2018, BMW Wireless
Charging will be among the optional equipment items available for the
BMW 530e iPerformance ex works: it comprises a "car pad" for
the vehicle and an inductive charging station known as a "ground
pad", which can be installed on the floor of a garage, for example.

The contactless transfer of energy is carried out via an
electromagnetic field between the two components and can be initiated
as soon as the vehicle has reached park position over the ground pad.
This makes charging a high-voltage battery even easier than filling a
fuel tank.

New for BMW i and BMW i Performance automobiles: BMW Connected
eDrive Services with BMW Digital Charging Service.

In future, the option BMW Connected eDrive Services will cover all
digital services that help optimise comfort, everyday practicality and
efficiency in vehicles that are electrically powered. This new
optional equipment feature will be available from July 2018 for the
BMW i3 (combined fuel consumption: 0.0 l/100 km; combined power
consumption 13.6 – 13.1 kWh/100 km; combined CO2 emissions 0 g/km) and
the BMW i3s (combined fuel consumption: 0.0 l/100 km; combined power
consumption: l/100 km; combined power consumption 14.3 kWh/100 km;
combined CO2 emissions 0 g/km), the BMW i8 Coupé (combined fuel
consumption: 1.8 l/100 km; combined power consumption 14.0 kWh/100 km;
combined CO2 emissions 42 g/km) and the BMW i8 Roadster as well as for
the BMW 225xe iPerformance (combined fuel consumption: 2.5 – 2.3 l/100
km; combined power consumption 13.7 – 13.4 kWh/100 km; combined CO2
emissions 57 – 52 g/km) and the BMW 530e iPerformance. It includes
Remote Services, which allows the doors to be remotely locked and
unlocked, and also eDrive Services complete with charging station
search, as well as enabling the range and charge status to be
displayed on a smartphone.

What is more, the BMW Digital Charging Service can be used in the
first three years after the car has been newly registered. This
enables intelligent charging with optimised cost efficiency and
preferential use of self-generated solar power.

Munich. With the launch of a new, exceptionally
efficient entry-level engine, BMW is extending the drive portfolio in
the luxury segment. As from July 2018, a four-cylinder diesel engine
will be available for the BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo. Under the bonnet
of the new BMW 620d Gran Turismo (combined fuel consumption: 4.9 – 4.8
l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 129 – 127 g/km), the 140 kW/190 hp
engine provides for a particularly efficient form of driving pleasure
in the model, which was designed for long-distance ride comfort and
versatile functionality.

The exceedingly efficient four-cylinder diesel is making a debut in
the BMW 6 Series. Turbo charging with variable turbine geometry and
Common Rail direct injection constitute the prerequisites for sporty
power delivery and a high degree of efficiency on this 2-litre engine.
Maximum torque of 400 Nm is available between 1 750 and 2 500 rpm,
with maximum power output of 140 kW/190 hp being achieved at 4 000 rpm.

Therefore, the choice of power units available for the BMW 6 Series
Gran Turismo now totals 5 engines. In addition to straight
six-cylinder diesel engines, a straight six-cylinder petrol engine and
a four-cylinder petrol engine will be offered. The new entry-level
diesel transfers power with a standard 8-speed Steptronic
transmission. All suspension systems available for the BMW 6 Series
Gran Turismo are also optionally available for the new model variants,
including Adaptive Two-Axle Air Suspension, Integral Active Steering
and the Executive Drive system with Active Roll Stabilisation. The new
BMW 620d Gran Turismo sprints from 0 to 100 km/100 in 7.9 seconds. The
outstanding efficiency of the new engine variant is demonstrated by a
combined fuel consumption of 4.9 to 4.8 litres per 100 km and a CO2
emission level of 129 to 127 grams/km.

*The fuel consumption and CO2 emissions figures shown were determined
according to the European Regulation (EC) 715/2007 in the version
applicable at the time of type approval. The figures refer to a
vehicle with basic configuration in Germany and the range shown
considers the different size of the selected wheels and tires. The
values of the vehicles labelled with (*) are already based on the new
WLTP regulation and are translated back into NEDC-equivalent values in
order to ensure the comparison between the vehicles. With respect to
these vehicles, for vehicle-related taxes or other duties based (at
least inter alia) on CO2 emissions, the CO2 values may differ to the
values stated here (depending on national legislation).

The CO2 efficiency specifications are determined according to
Directive 1999/94/EC and the Pkw-EnVKV, and based (for classification)
on the fuel consumption and CO2 values as per the NEDC cycle.

Further information on official fuel consumption figures and specific
CO2 emission values of new passenger cars is included in the following
guideline: “Leitfaden über Kraftstoffverbrauch, die CO2-Emissionen und
den Stromverbrauch neuer Personenkraftwagen” (Guideline for fuel
consumption, CO2 emissions and electric power consumption of new
passenger cars), which can be obtained free of charge from all
dealerships and at https://www.dat.de/en/offers/publications/guideline-for-fuel-cons

CO2 EMISSIONS & CONSUMPTION.

BMW 620d Gran Turismo: combined fuel consumption: 4.9 – 4.8 l/100 km;

Munich.
At their annual conference in Bad Nauheim, automobile
construction experts from all over the world selected the BMW 6
Series Gran Turismo as the winner of the EuroCar Body Award 2017.
After the BMW i8 (2014) and the BMW 7 Series (2015), it was the
third time one of the company's models won the award, which was
first introduced in 2002. The jury of the world's leading award for
innovation in body construction were particularly impressed by the
efficient development and production concept used as well as the
customer benefits provided by the body.

BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo: body concept with a high degree of functionality.

Introduced worldwide at the end of 2017, the BMW 6 Series Gran
Turismo perfects the vehicle concept initiated by the BMW 5 Series
Gran Turismo, combining the travel comfort of a luxury class sedan
with the aesthetic appeal of a coupé, while also offering a high
degree of functionality. Intelligent lightweight construction and
the increased use of aluminium and high-strength steel types for the
body and chassis components helped reduce the weight of the new BMW
6 Series Gran Turismo by an average of approximately 150 kilograms
as compared to the predecessor model. 44 kilograms of this were due
to the body alone. The result is also much improved aerodynamic
properties.

The jury members especially emphasised the design solutions
developed by BMW for the rear: "Based on a large,
single-section pressure die-cast aluminium tailgate frame and an
innovative rear design which does without a water drainage channel,
it was possible to achieve a very large, convenient rear opening
with a maximum view through the rear window – combined with a
luggage compartment volume increased by 110 litres as compared to
the predecessor model" – as was stated in the rationale for the
EuroCar Body Award. The jury likewise underscored the efforts made
by BMW to reduce vehicle weight by means of intelligent lightweight
construction. Here again, the body of the BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo
sets a new benchmark, in particular due to numerous detailed
structural improvements – in spite of having to satisfy more
rigorous crash requirements and having slightly increased
dimensions.

The interior offers generous space, while the raised seating
position ensures an excellent overview. Three fully-fledged seats at
the rear with ample leg space emphasise the travel qualities of the
car, as does the fact that the headroom has been increased in spite
of a lower roof line – achieved by optimising the seat system. The
single-section tailgate of the BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo is opened
and closed electrically as standard. The luggage compartment volume
is 610 litres: this can be expanded to 1800 litres by folding down
the seats using an electrical remote control function.

Benchmark for body construction.

550 body experts attended the 19th EuroCar Body in Bad Nauheim,
Hesse. The conference focuses on the technical benchmarking of
bodies and their production, as well as selecting the winners of the
world's top awards for innovative body construction – the
EuroCarBody Awards. These go to pioneering serial production
developments in body construction. For a period of three days, the
experts discussed and assessed a dozen competing vehicles based on
bodyshells and finished models. For the first time, vehicles were
entered in two categories – one for volume-production models and one
for premium segment vehicles.

The BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo ultimately not only won the EuroCar
Body Award for the premium segment but also achieved the highest point
score overall among all competitors. By ranking first in three of the
four technical assessment categories, the BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo
laid the foundation for a clear outright victory: it was ahead of the
field in the technical categories of development and construction,
production efficiency and customer benefits, thereby achieving a total
score of 39.10 out of a possible total of 50 points. This put it well

Munich. Parallel to the start of the largest model
initiative in the history of the brand, BMW is also increasing the
attractiveness and diversity within the range of existing series with
a multitude of new features being introduced in the autumn of 2017.
From November 2017, the new BMW M550d xDrive Touring (combined fuel
consumption: 6.7 – 6.4 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions:
176 – 168 g/km) and the new BMW 640d xDrive Gran Turismo (combined
fuel consumption: 6.2 – 5.8 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions:
163 – 153 g/km) will become available, whilst as from December 2017,
two new petrol engine variants will be offered for the new BMW X3.
Furthermore, the choice of special equipment features for the new BMW
X3 will be complemented by exclusive exterior and interior options by
BMW Individual.

The BMW X1 xDrive20d (combined fuel consumption: 4.8 – 4.7 l/100 km;
combined CO2 emissions: 127 – 123 g/km) will in future come with the
8-speed Steptronic transmission as standard. Moreover, as from
November 2017, the range of optional light alloy wheels for the
compact Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) will be complemented by five new
variants. In addition to the introduction of the BMW Connected
Services Microsoft Office 365 with Skype for Business, the upgrade of
BMW Connected+ with new personalised digital mobility services will
ensure further advancement in the field of intelligent networking.
Starting in the autumn of 2017, the number of cities in which the
digital parking space search service On-Street Parking Information can
be utilized will increase even further.

New BMW M Performance model: BMW M550d xDrive Touring
featuring the most powerful six-cylinder diesel engine available
worldwide.

From November 2017, the fleet of exceptionally sporty
BMW M Performance automobiles will be complemented by a fascinatingly
powerful but also impressively efficient model variant of the new BMW
5 Series Touring. The new BMW M550d xDrive Touring will feature the
most powerful six-cylinder diesel engine available worldwide. The
M Performance TwinPower Turbo technology used on the 3-litre, straight
six-cylinder power unit comprises multi-stage charging with four
turbochargers and Common Rail direct injection operating at a maximum
pressure of more than 2,500 bar. A maximum power output of
294 kW/400 hp and a peak torque of 760 Nm available between 2, 000 and
3, 000 rpm ensure spontaneous response and constant power delivery
across the entire speed range.

The BMW M550d xDrive Touring brings its exceptional engine
performance to the tarmac via an 8-speed sports transmission and
intelligent rear-wheel oriented four-wheel drive technology and
accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in just 4.6 seconds. The
sporty diesel engine convinces not only with highly responsive
performance characteristics, but also with impressive fuel economy.
Combined fuel consumption of the new BMW M550d xDrive Touring is
between 6.7 and 6.4 litres per 100 km with CO2 emission levels of 176
to 168 grams per km (figures as per EU test cycle, depending on
selected tyre size).

Included in the standard equipment range for the
BMW M550d xDrive Touring are, inter alia, an M sports suspension,
Integral Active Steering and model-specific exterior and interior
features. Moreover, 19-inch M light alloy wheels with mixed tyres and
the M sports brake system underscore the BMW M Performance model’s
dynamic character.

Superior and efficient: The new BMW 640d xDrive Gran Turismo.

As from November 2017, the model range of the new BMW 6 Series
Gran Turismo will be extended with the production start of a second
diesel engine variant. The new BMW 640d xDrive Gran Turismo combines
sporty performance and supreme ride comfort with a high level of
efficiency. Its 3-litre straight six-cylinder engine with BMW
TwinPower Turbo technology features multi-stage charging with variable
intake geometry for the high and low pressure chargers as well as
Common Rail direct injection. It delivers 235 kW/320 hp and a maximum
torque of 680 Nm.

In conjunction with an 8-speed Steptronic transmission and the
intelligent four-wheel drive system xDrive, the powerful diesel engine
allows the new BMW 640d xDrive Gran Turismo to accelerate from 0
to100 km/h in 5.3 seconds. Combined fuel consumption is between 6.2
and 5.8 litres per 100 km, with corresponding CO2 emission levels of
163 to 153 grams per km (figures as per EU test cycle, depending on
selected tyre size).

The BMW X3: Starting with two additional engines and special
equipment features by BMW Individual.

In December 2017, just a few weeks after the market launch of the new
BMW X3, two four-cylinder petrol engines are to be added to the drive
portfolio. In addition to BMW TwinPower Turbo technology with Twin
Scroll turbo charger, High Precision Injection, fully variable valve
control VALVETRONIC and variable camshaft control Double VANOS, both
2-litre power units also boast a weight-optimised design and a new
engine encapsulation system for optimising acoustic characteristics
and warm-up behaviour. They come as standard with the combination of
an 8-speed Steptronic transmission and intelligent four-wheel drive
technology BMW xDrive

The engine featured in the new BMW X3 xDrive20i delivers a maximum
power output of 135 kW/184 hp and a peak torque of 290 Nm. The car’s
sporty characteristics are reflected in an acceleration of 8.3 seconds
from 0 to 100 km/h, an exceptionally economical average fuel
consumption of between 7.3 and 7.1 litres per 100 km and CO2 emission
levels of 168 to 163 grams per km. The second petrol engine delivers a
power output of 185 kW/252 hp and 350 Nm of torque, allowing the new
BMW X3 xDrive30i to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.3 seconds.
Combined fuel consumption is between 7.3 and 7.2 litres per 100 km
with CO2 emission levels of 168 to 164 grams per km (figures as per EU
test cycle, depending on selected tyre size).

The extra dose of luxury and exclusiveness added to the new BMW X3’s
character is also reflected in the extensive range of products offered
by BMW Individual. The BMW Individual body colour variant Sun Stone
metallic effectively accentuates the powerfully modelled surfaces of
the Sports Activity Vehicle in a most impressive manner. The
sophisticated interior ambience is created by the BMW Individual
upgraded leather trim Merino in the colour combinations Fiona
Red/Black, Ivory White and Tartufo, door sills bearing the BMW
Individual lettering and BMW Individual interior trim strips in a
black piano gloss finish.

BMW X1 xDrive20d now with 8-speed Steptronic transmission as
standard, new light alloy wheels for the compact SAV.

Starting November 2017, the 140 kW/190 hp four-cylinder engine in the
BMW X1 xDrive20d will come as standard in conjunction with an 8-speed
Steptronic transmission, allowing the compact SAV to accelerate from a
standstill to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds. Average fuel consumption of the
BMW X1 xDrive20d is between 4.8 and 4.7 litres per 100 km and CO2
emissions 127 to 123 grams per km (figures as per EU test cycle,
depending on selected tyre size).

Furthermore, the range of light alloy wheels optionally available for
the BMW X1 will be upgraded. The choice will comprise five new
variants ranging from 17-inch wheels with aerodynamically optimised
turbine styling to 19-inch M light alloy wheels in a double-spoke
design and bicolour optics.

Enhanced networking and productivity inside the vehicle:
Microsoft Office 365 with Skype for Business, On-Street Parking
Information in further European cities.

With the integrated function Microsoft Office 365, BMW is the first
manufacturer to offer a safe server connection for the exchange and
processing of mails, calendar entries and contact data. This function
allows direct transfer of addresses from calendar entries into the
navigation system and selection of telephone numbers via the connected
mobile telephone. Moreover, from the end of September 2017, it will be
possible to use the Unified Communication solution Skype for Business
from Microsoft inside the car. This service is also fully integrated
into the onboard iDrive control system. Upcoming telephone conferences
are automatically identified. It is possible to participate simply by
pressing the controller. During the journey, the name of those taking
part in the discussion can be shown on the Control Display. The new
BMW ConnectedDrive service will first be available in Germany, Great
Britain and France. Additional countries are to follow at the end of 2017.

From the autumn of 2017, the number of European cities in which the
unique On-Street Parking Information service, which assists the driver
in finding a free parking space at the roadside, will be extended even
further. The digital parking space finder, which is available in
conjunction with the Real Time Traffic Information (RTTI) service for
all current BMW models, can be also used in the Swedish cities of
Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö as well as in the French cities of
Paris, Lyon, Marseille, Nice, Nantes and Toulouse. Moreover, the
cities of London, Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, Bristol,
Sheffield, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Belfast in the UK have been added to
this list.

BMW Connected with new services.

The intelligent networking of the vehicle and the driver’s Smartphone
will be further intensified with the service package BMW Connected+.
Since July 2017 the extended range of digital services has been
available for all current BMW models and BMW i models and comprises
the highly personalised and simple display of Smartphone contents
inside the car as well as new mobility services.

Munich. The new BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo is
fascinatingly elegant, highly versatile and outstandingly dynamic to
drive. In order to demonstrate the sporty character of the model, the
model-specific BMW M Performance Parts will already be available at
market launch in November 2017. The customised and motor racing
inspired retrofit parts for drive, suspension, exterior and cockpit
enhance dynamic driving even further and give the new BMW 6 Series
Gran Turismo an individual and powerfully expressive appearance.

The well-established racing expertise of BMW M GmbH, which was made
use of in developing the parts, is reflected in the authentic style of
the BMW M Performance Parts range. All components are fully subject to
the high BMW Group standards in terms of material selection, design
and quality of workmanship. Retrofitting these items has no impact
whatsoever on the warranty terms as applicable to the vehicle in question.

The BMW M Performance exhaust silencer system gives the new BMW 6
Series Gran Turismo a truly impressive acoustic and visual dimension.
It gives the rear a striking look and ensures a sporty sound which is,
however, also suitable for long-distance travel. The silencer is made
of stainless steel and was especially developed for the petrol engine
models BMW 630i Gran Turismo (combined fuel consumption:
6.6 – 6.2 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 152 – 142 g/km), BMW 640i
Gran Turismo (combined fuel consumption: 7.4 – 7.0 l/100 km; combined
CO2 emissions: 169 – 159 g/km), BMW 640i xDrive Gran Turismo (combined
fuel consumption: 8.2 – 7.7 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions:
187 – 177 g/km). Depending on engine type and equipment, it comes with
either round or trapezoid tailpipe trims in chrome or carbon fibre.
The round tailpipes feature an engraved M logo and the trapezoid
tailpipes the M Performance inscription.

Driving dynamics and visual appeal of the new BMW 6 Series Gran
Turismo both profit from the 21 inch BMW M Performance light alloy
wheels. They are manufactured using weight-saving forging methods and
feature a two-level double-spoke design in bi-colour composition. The
high-gloss paintwork is combined with burnished surfaces for the outer
spoke level and the wheel rim. The exclusively designed wheels have
mixed tyres in the sizes 245/35 R21 on the front axle and 275/30 R21
on the rear axle, complete with emergency running properties. The
sport braking system, which is also available for the new BMW 6 Series
Gran Turismo, optimises both the dynamic driving experience as well as
the car’s visual impact. Even when driven in extremely dynamic
fashion, the new BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo achieves constant braking
performance by means of inner vented, perforated lightweight
construction brake discs with 4-piston fixed caliper brakes made of
aluminium on the front axle and single-piston floating caliper brakes
on the rear axle. Red brake calipers serve as a visual indication of
the fact that the design of the BMW M Performance sport brake system
is derived from motor racing.

The high-gloss black BMW M Performance kidney grille gives the front
of the new BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo a specifically dynamic look. In
combination with the black trim bars of the air flap control, the BMW
kidney grille receives a perfectly colour harmonised appearance.

The BMW M Performance exterior mirror caps in carbon fibre are yet
another visual highlight. The components made of carbon fibre
reinforced plastic (CFRP) are elaborately crafted by hand especially
for the new BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo. Multi-layer paintwork and
high-gloss finishing give the car’s surfaces their striking intensity.
The BMW M Performance Frozen Black foil superbly accentuates the
sporty-elegant lines and the harmonious proportions of the new BMW 6
Series Gran Turismo. The matt black and grey trim stripes match the
car’s geometry perfectly.

The BMW M Performance sports steering wheels gives the new BMW 6
Series Gran Turismo a special motor racing touch inside the cockpit.
Its alcantara-covered grip areas, large thumb rests and the slightly
flattened lower section make it a pleasure to hold, provide optimum
grip and ensure direct steering response. Soft nappa leather both in
the upper and lower section as well as on the steering wheel trim, a
silver-grey cross-stitch seam and the red central marking at the 12
o’clock position round off the highly dynamic design of the BMW M
Performance sports steering wheel. It also features shift paddles for
manually selecting gears in conjunction with the 8-speed Steptronic
sports transmission. BMW M Performance foot mats are also available in
the cockpit product range.

The model-specific retrofit options from the BMW M Performance range
will be available right from the launch of the new BMW 6 Series Gran
Turismo. All products form part of the Original BMW Accessories
program, sold and installed through the BMW dealer network, BMW sales
subsidiaries and BMW Service Partners.

Munich. From the spring of 2017, the new BMW 5
Series, the sportiest and most innovative business sedan in its
segment, will also set new standards in terms of efficiency. The new
BMW 520d EfficientDynamics Edition impresses with a combined fuel
consumption level of 4.3 to 3.9 litres per 100 kilometres (combined
CO2 emission level: 114 – 102 g/km). Also, from March 2017,
groundbreaking innovations in the areas of networking and operating,
now being presented for the first time in the BMW 5 Series, will find
their way into further model series – the digital parking space search
service On-Street Parking Information and the live tile arrangement of
the menu on the Control Display.

With a further extended range of driver assistance systems, the BMW 7
Series is making further advancements on the way to automated driving.
The spectrum now also includes, amongst other things, the Lane
Departure Assistant, ActiveAssist Collision Avoidance, Cross-Traffic
and Wrong-Way Driving Alert as well as the Remote 3D View function.
From the spring of 2017, BMW 6 Series models will underpin their
exclusive and sporty aura with attractive innovations included in the
range of special equipment options. The Digital Charging Service, an
innovative feature for convenient and economical charging of the
high-voltage battery, will become available exclusively for BMW i and
BMW iPerformance automobiles. From March 2017, new and exceedingly
high-quality options will be added to the range of special equipment
for the BMW 3 Series and the BMW 4 Series as well as for the models
BMW X5 and BMW X6.

BMW 520d EfficientDynamics Edition: greater driving pleasure,
less CO2.
As from March 2017, the driving
pleasure that is characteristic of the new BMW 5 Series Sedan will be
combined with the lowest fuel consumption and emission levels in this
vehicle segment. The new BMW 520d EfficientDynamics Edition is powered
by a 2-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine featuring BMW TwinPower
Turbo technology, delivering a maximum power output of 140 kW/190 hp
and a peak torque of 400 Newton metres available between 1,750 and
2,500 rpm. The Sedan accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds and
achieves a combined fuel consumption of between 4.3 and 3.9 litres per
100 kilometres and CO2 emission levels of between 114 and 102 grams
per kilometres (figures as per EU test cycle, depending on selected
tyre size). The power unit of the BMW 520d EfficientDynamics Edition
features, inter alia, a turbo charger mounted on anti-friction
bearings, high pressure exhaust gas recirculation, a map-controlled
oil pump and further developed Common Rail direct injection
technology, the solenoid injectors of which ensure precise fuel dosing
with a maximum pressure of 2,000 bar.

In addition to the optimised efficiency of both the engine and the
standard 8-speed Steptronic transmission, enhanced aerodynamic
characteristics as well as the Sedan’s greatly reduced weight vs. its
predecessor also contribute towards achieving the favourable fuel
consumption and CO2 emission levels. Moreover, in order to optimise
emission behaviour, the BMW 520d EfficientDynamics Edition is equipped
with BMW BluePerformance technology, which in addition to the
particulate filter, an oxidation catalyst and a NOX storage catalyst,
also features an SCR catalytic converter with AdBlue injection
technology reducing nitrogen oxide emissions even further.

On-Street Parking Information in further BMW models and
available for additional towns and cities.
Starting in March 2017, thanks to intelligent
networking, drivers will be provided in a large number of BMW models
not only with real-time information on the traffic situation, but will
also receive assistance in finding a parking space in major urban
areas. The BMW ConnectedDrive Service Real Time Traffic Information
(RTTI), which is available in conjunction with the navigation system
Professional, will also be complemented by the unique On-Street
Parking Information function. Similar to the RTTI feature, this
digital service uses intelligent networking to assess the availability
of free road-side parking spaces from both pre-stored and current
data. The calculated probability of finding a free parking space at
the destination is displayed to the driver by means of coloured
markings on the navigation map depicted on the Control Display.

In future, the On-Street Parking Information service will make
finding a parking space far easier in as many as ten German cities. In
addition to Munich, Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt
and Stuttgart, the availability of parking spaces will also be
analysed in real time in Nuremberg, Bremen and Hanover as from March
2017. The function, which is being featured for the first time in the
new BMW 5 Series Sedan, is now available for all current models with
the exception of the BMW X1, the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer and the
BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer.

Even more intuitive: Navigation system Professional with
animated buttons arranged as tiles.
The
latest innovations for the display and control concept, which made
their debut in the new BMW 5 Series, will be available for further
series as from March 2017. In conjunction with the navigation system
Professional, the Control Display of the iDrive system will, thanks to
a new enhanced graphic representation, facilitate even more intuitive
operation in the BMW 7 Series and BMW 6 Series as well as in all
variants of the BMW M6. The on-board monitor displays menus in the
form of horizontally arranged buttons with a tile structure. These six
buttons, the order of which can be individually configured by the
driver, are displayed in the main menu on two sides of the screen.
This ensures more convenient and faster access to the desired content.
A new menu option is “Messages”, allowing access to incoming text
messages and e-mails as well as information on the vehicle’s operating condition.

These functions, which are available using the menu selection, are
symbolised by animated graphics in live mode. For example, in the
overview and by means of a displayed map section, the navigation menu
button already displays the route the vehicle is currently travelling
on, whilst the entertainment menu graphics show the title of the song
currently playing, including album cover, or the name of the selected
radio station.

BMW 7 Series with additional driver assistance systems and
Remote 3D View.
From the spring of 2017,
there will be an even broader choice of driver assistance systems to
ensure even greater driving pleasure, comfort and safety in 7 Series
models. From March 2017, the systems will be included in the optional
equipment package Driving Assistant Plus. They offer the driver
effective assistance in many different situations, leading the way to
automated driving. For example, the Steering and Lane Guidance
Assistant being presented in the luxury sedans for the first time will
be complemented by the Lane Change Assistant, which can be used when
driving on motorways and other roads with separated directional
carriageways. At speeds of between 70 and 180 km/h, the driver can
initiate a lane change by holding the indicator lever in the one-touch
position. The system sensors then analyse the situation on the
neighbouring carriageway. If they detect that this lane is clear and
there are no vehicles approaching at a high speed, the steering
assistant conveniently helps the driver to change lanes.

A further addition to the range of Driving Assistant Plus functions
is the ActiveAssist Collision Avoidance system. Should a rapid lane
change become necessary in order to avoid a suddenly appearing
obstacle, it provides steering assistance at speeds of up to 160 km/h.
The Cross Traffic Alert function, also included in the equipment
package as from March, provides visual and acoustic signals if the
traffic signs identified by the stereo camera should indicate that the
driver has overlooked a road with right of way. The new Driving
Assistant Plus features are complemented by the Wrong-Way Driving
Alert feature. This system analyses navigation data in order to
provide information on hazardous situations. It intervenes when the
vehicle is driving in the wrong direction into one-way streets,
roundabouts or motorway entrances.

In conjunction with the Surround View system, a feature that provides
assistance with a combination of camera images taken from several
different perspectives when the vehicle is manoeuvring in tricky
situations, drivers of a BMW 7 Series will in future also have access
to the Remote 3D View feature, the Surround View system of which
provides them with permanent access to a three-dimensional live image
of their vehicle and its surroundings, this being transmitted to their
smartphone via the BMW Connected feature.

New option for the BMW 3 Series and the BMW 4 Series:
Multifunctional instrument display.
From
March 2017, a novel feature in the field of display technology will
also ensure an even more intensive driving experience in BMW 3 Series
and BMW 4 Series models, for which the multifunctional instrument
display will be optionally available. The fully digital TFT colour
display featuring black panel technology for the cockpit provides
driving-related information in an individually selectable design. The
colour scheme, graphic representation and choice of contents vary
according to the driving mode selected via the Driving Experience
Control button.

In COMFORT mode, the display shows a conventional image of the four
round instruments using the corresponding graphics. A zoom function
highlights the respective driving speed and engine speed. In ECO PRO
mode, additional information on current fuel efficiency replaces the
rev counter. In SPORT mode, the current speed is displayed digitally
in the form of a large central figure, whilst the selected gear is
indicated in the centre of the rev counter.

BMW 6 Series with distinctive accents for the exterior and
interior.
From the spring of 2017, new
and attractive special equipment features will also be available for
the BMW 6 Series. These options, which are on offer exclusively for
the BMW 6 Series Coupe, the BMW 6 Series Convertible and the BMW 6
Series Gran Coupe, underscore the sporting character of the three
luxury class models. The choice of body colours will be complemented
by the brand-new variant Sonic Speed Blue metallic. In conjunction
with the M Sports package, new 20-inch, M bicolour light alloy wheels
boasting an M-specific double spoke design will be available,
including mixed tyres and emergency running characteristics as well as
interior trims in a carbon fibre look.

Comfortable, eco-friendly, cost efficient: Digital Charging
Service for BMW i and BMW iPerformance automobiles.
The BMW i brand has become a pioneer in the
field of sustainable individual mobility, not only thanks to
groundbreaking vehicle concepts and drive technologies, but also with
numerous innovative services. The latest innovation in this area is
the Digital Charging Service for intelligent charging of the
high-voltage battery featured in BMW i and BMW iPerformance
automobiles. So the BMW Group is the first carmaker to offer a system
that conveniently helps the driver to make use of favourable
electricity tariffs or a high proportion of self-generated solar
energy during the charging process.

In order to achieve best possible charging cost efficiency, the BMW
Digital Charging Service takes into account not only tariffs with a
dynamically varying price in the daytime, but also those that include
predetermined highest and lowest prices. As a result, it is possible,
for example, to take maximum advantage of particularly favourable
overnight rates.

In conjunction with the new BMW i Wallbox Connect, the Digital
Charging Service can also optimise the use of electricity from a
domestic photovoltaic system. In this case, the amount of locally
generated solar electricity is predicted based on the system’s
performance data and the current weather forecast. Using this data, it
is also possible to determine the proportion of solar electricity that
is not consumed in the home at the time of being produced and can,
therefore, be used for completely emission-free mobility. As a result,
fully electric and/or hybrid vehicles are integrated as best possible
into the domestic environment and the customer’s individual energy concept.

The BMW Digital Charging Service automatically schedules the start
and finish of each charging process with a view to best possible cost
efficiency or maximum proportion of green electricity respectively. In
the process, the charging schedule always ensures that the vehicle has
the maximum battery capacity at the desired departure time and that
the interior is also fully air-conditioned. The unique service is an
integral part of BMW ConnectedDrive Services available for all BMW i
and BMW iPerformance automobiles.

New light alloy wheels for the BMW X5 and the BMW X6.
In the spring of 2017, the range of optional
equipment available ex factory for the models BMW X5 and BMW X6 will
also include for the

first time 21-inch light alloy wheels previously only available
exclusively from the Original BMW Accessory range. The M light alloy
wheels boasting a double spoke design and bicolour look with burnished
spokes come with mixed tyres with emergency running characteristics.
They are available in conjunction with the M Sports Package for all
model variants with the exception of the BMW X5 sDrive25d,
BMW X5 xDrive25d and the BMW X5 xDrive40e iPerformance.

BMW X5 M and BMW X6 M now with the navigation package
ConnectedDrive as standard.
As from the
spring of 2017, the range of standard equipment for the BMW X5 M and
the BMW X6 M will be supplemented by the navigation package
ConnectedDrive, also featuring telephony with wireless charging. It
includes among other options the navigation system Professional, a
smartphone holder with which inductive charging of a mobile phone is
possible, the RTTI service including On-Street Parking Information, a
WiFi hotspot, ConnectedDrive Services, Concierge Services and Remote Services.

boasts an excellent position in the all-wheel-drive market, a segment
it first entered 30 years ago. Around one in three BMW cars sold
around the world is now equipped with the intelligent BMW xDrive
all-wheel-drive system. BMW’s success in this segment has been driven
not only by the ever-popular BMW X models but also by all-wheel-drive
models based on the other model series, from the BMW 1 Series to the
BMW 7 Series. Across these model series, a large choice of AWD models
is offered in a wide range of engine versions. At the same time, BMW
continues to refine this technology and take it in new directions. By
offering BMW xDrive in combination with a hybrid drive and with a
front-wheel-drive platform, the company has repeatedly demonstrated
its proficiency in the all-wheel-drive field, proficiency that will
secure BMW’s position at the forefront of this sector well into the
future. Today, BMW offers more than 110 models – of either
transmission type – with BMW xDrive in 12 different model series, as
well as the plug-in hybrid BMW i8 sports car and the compact BMW 225xe
with electrified all-wheel drive.

The focus from day one: traction and dynamics.

BMW’s first foray into the all-wheel-drive market came
with the unveiling of the BMW 325i “Allrad” at the Frankfurt Motor
Show (IAA) in 1985. From the outside, the newcomer didn’t immediately
reveal its inner qualities, so its performance when the journalists
took it out on the test track was even more of an eye-opener. This
very first BMW all-wheel-drive system not only improved traction away
from surfaced roads and in adverse weather conditions, but also made
for more dynamic handling through corners. “The new BMW is the new
champion when it comes to handling,” was the verdict of the testers
from German car magazine Auto Zeitung not long after the first unveiling.

Today, the intelligent BMW xDrive all-wheel-drive system takes
typical BMW driving dynamics to new levels. The current generation of
this system is controlled by the Integrated Chassis Management (ICM)
system, which ensures that xDrive always responds appropriately at the
earliest possible moment, based on reliable sensing and monitoring of
the current driving situation. The interventions may be performed
either entirely by BMW xDrive, or by xDrive in combination with
Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) or Dynamic Performance Control (DPC).
The resulting fast and precise control of drive power distribution
ensures typical BMW handling characteristics even under extremely
dynamic cornering.

The all-wheel-drive system is biased towards the typical BMW
rear-wheel-drive characteristics. That is to say, on the
all-wheel-drive models a greater share of the drive power is sent to
the rear wheels, even under normal driving conditions. This maintains
the typical BMW precise steering response, with virtually no torque
steer. For crisp turn-in and high tracking stability, the
latest-generation BMW xDrive system starts increasing the amount of
power sent to the rear wheels as soon as the vehicle enters a corner,
further enhancing the driving pleasure for which BMW is a byword.

BMW all-wheel-drive technology: continuous evolution since 1985.
The full-time all-wheel-drive system featured on the BMW 325i
“Allrad” of 1985 split the drive power in a ratio of 37 to 63 per cent
between the front and rear wheels. In response to wheel speed
differences, visco locks in the transfer case and rear differential
were capable of providing a virtually rigid connection between the
front and rear wheels, in order to improve traction and stability.
This model’s name was soon changed to BMW 325iX, and from 1988 it was
offered in a “touring” version as well (lower-case spelling up to and
including the E46 series).

1991: BMW 525iX.
Three years on, BMW introduced an all-wheel-drive model in the
BMW 5 Series too. For the first time, the power split was now
electronically controlled. The newly developed system featured
multi-plate clutches that allowed the default 36:64 front-to-rear
power split to be varied seamlessly and automatically in line with
driving conditions. Initially a hydraulically controlled multi-plate
clutch was used at the rear axle, but this was later replaced by
electronically controlled selective braking intervention. The system
monitored the driving situation using wheel speed signals from the
Anti-lock Braking System, supplemented by further information about
brake status, engine speed and throttle valve position.

From the outset the all-wheel-drive system of the BMW 525iX was a
class apart. The electronic control system delivered a very fast and
precise response, resulting in safe, neutral handling characteristics
even in difficult driving conditions, such as on wet roads or snow. In
the BMW 5 Series, too, the first all-wheel-drive models were offered
in both Sedan and touring versions.

1999: The Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) opens a new chapter.
In the run-up to the new millennium, a highly innovative vehicle
concept from BMW made its sensational debut. The BMW X5, the first
Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV), impressed customers with driving
dynamics that were unmatched among other all-terrain vehicles of the
time. The outstanding all-wheel-drive system played a big part in
this. A planetary gear system split the drive power in a ratio of
38:62 per cent between the front and rear wheels, while electronic
control systems such as DSC (Dynamic Stability Control), ADB-X
(Automatic Differential Brake) and HDC (Hill Descent Control) ensured
the new BMW X5 was both sporty on the road and equipped to handle
challenging conditions off the beaten track.

In the years following the successful launch of the SAV concept,
there was no let-up in the fast pace of all-wheel-drive development at
BMW. The next year, 2000, a model-specific version of the BMW X5’s
all-wheel drive technology became available for the fourth generation
of the BMW 3 Series.

2003: BMW xDrive makes its debut in the BMW X3 and BMW X5.
Four years on from the debut of the BMW X5 in 1999, BMW kept up
the momentum by launching the SAV concept in a further vehicle
segment. The new BMW X3 was more compact than the BMW X5 and offered
even more agile handling. It set new benchmarks and remained the only
premium model in its class for years to come.

The newly developed BMW xDrive all-wheel-drive system, which was
introduced in the same year in both the BMW X3 and the BMW X5, soon
extended BMW’s lead in the AWD segment. Based on an extremely
fast-acting electronic multi-plate clutch in the transfer case, xDrive
worked in tandem with the Dynamic Stability Control system (DSC) to
continuously adapt the drive power split to the current driving
situation. In addition to wheel speed, for the first time the
electronic control system also took into account Dynamic Stability
Control data, for example about steering angle, accelerator position
and lateral acceleration. This is what makes BMW xDrive the world’s
first, and still only, “intelligent” all-wheel-drive system. Unlike
conventional all-wheel-drive systems, which only react when at least
one wheel is already spinning, xDrive is able to detect a risk of
oversteer or understeer at the very first signs, and proactively
corrects this by redirecting the flow of drive power.

In the years that followed, the BMW xDrive intelligent
all-wheel-drive system was fitted not only on the X models but also on
the xDrive versions of the BMW 3 and 5 Series Sedan and Touring
models. By the time the second generation of the BMW X3 was introduced
in 2010, more than 600,000 units of this series had already been sold
worldwide. A little earlier, sales of the BMW X5 – which entered its
second generation in 2006 – had topped the one million mark.

2008: SAC with Dynamic Performance Control and hybrid
drive.
With the two Sports Activity Vehicles now firmly
established in their respective segments, in 2007 BMW went on to
present the world’s first Sports Activity Coupe. Unveiled at the
Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA), the brand-new BMW X6 elevated the typical
dynamic character of the BMW X models to a new level of intensity. For
the first time, the intelligent all-wheel-drive system was combined
with Dynamic Performance Control (DPC), which varies the drive power
split between the rear wheels when cornering to ensure unrivalled
agility and stability, even under sudden throttle changes or on
overrun. In 2009, the BMW Active Hybrid X6 demonstrated a further
perfect pairing – between BMW xDrive and hybrid propulsion. Meanwhile,
in the same year, BMW M GmbH added two very special models to its
range of high-performance sports cars. With an M-tuned BMW xDrive
system, including Dynamic Performance Control, the BMW X5 M and BMW X6
M boasted performance that was previously unknown in the
all-wheel-drive market.

2009 also saw the arrival of a new X model, the BMW X1. For many
years to come, the BMW X1 was destined to remain the only vehicle of
its kind in the premium compact segment. Its intelligent BMW xDrive
all-wheel-drive system, like that of the new BMW X3 (2010), was also
combinable with Performance Control. This system selectively brakes
the wheel on the inside of a turn while simultaneously increasing
engine power, resulting in quick and precise turn-in to corners and
taking the agile handling of both models to new levels.

BMW xDrive also available for other model series.
The steady advance of the BMW X models has been accompanied by
an increase in the number of xDrive versions offered in the other BMW
model series too. Designed to improve cornering agility and precision,
BMW xDrive provides an enhanced driving experience and an optimal
combination of dynamics and comfort. So it was only a matter of time
before this intelligent drive technology made its debut in the BMW 7
Series as well, in 2009. In spring 2012, the first all-wheel-drive
Coupe and Convertible models were then offered in the sporty BMW 6
Series. BMW xDrive can also be specified on the current BMW 3 and 5
Series and, since 2013, on the Convertible, Coupe and Gran Coupe
models of the new BMW 4 Series.

Driving progress ever forward.
BMW took things forward in the premium mid-sized segment with
the launch of the BMW X4 in 2014. The new Sports Activity Coupe offers
a unique blend of driving enjoyment, sophisticated style and
contemporary practicality. It comes with BMW xDrive as standard and is
available in a wide range of engine versions. In the same year, BMW
also presented the third generation of the BMW X5, the second
generation of the BMW X6, and M Sport versions of both models. BMW
xDrive also made its debut in the new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer. This
was a debut with a difference, being the first time BMW had combined
its intelligent all-wheel-drive system with an all-new
front-wheel-drive format.

With the BMW i8, unveiled in 2014, the BMW Group took a bold new step
in new directions – which also extended to the all-wheel-drive system.
This 2+2-seater sports model is powered by a highly advanced plug-in
hybrid drive system that pairs an internal combustion engine driving
the rear wheels with a high-performance electric motor driving the
front wheels.

Focused on the future: BMW xDrive meets BMW eDrive.
BMW’s latest all-wheel-drive models bring technology advances
that are firmly focused on the future of mobility. The BMW i8 was
followed by the international launch of the first production plug-in
hybrid model from the BMW core brand: the BMW X5 xDrive40e. Thanks to
full-time BMW xDrive all-wheel-drive and eDrive BMW EfficientDynamics
technology, this Sports Activity Vehicle mates thrilling and
effortless sporty performance with outstanding efficiency. Intelligent
hybrid power management synchronises the operation of the internal
combustion engine and the electric motor to maximise efficiency at all
times, while also responding perfectly to the driver’s demands. The
drive from the two power units is transferred to the road via the
full-time BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system.

BMW 7 Series: Integral Active Steering combinable with BMW xDrive.
In September 2015, the sixth generation of the BMW 7 Series
makes its world debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA). This high-end
BMW luxury model pioneers groundbreaking innovations on all fronts,
and will be available with BMW xDrive from its market launch in
October. The new luxury sedan will also be the first model to allow
intelligent all-wheel-drive to be combined with Integral Active
Steering – that is to say with passively steering rear wheels.

Munich. Little more than a year before the EU6
exhaust emission standard comes into effect in September 2014, BMW is
increasing the number of models that already fulfil the more stringent
emission regulations. As early as in the summer of 2013, almost all
models featuring the BMW TwinPower Turbo petrol engine will comply
with the EU6 classification as standard. Moreover, by the summer of
2013, further four-wheel drive variants of the BMW 1 Series and the
BMW 3 Series are to be added to the model range of the BMW brand.
Innovative functions, which can be used in conjunction with the ECO
PRO mode, guarantee even better efficiency. Enhanced driving pleasure
is provided thanks to the Launch Control function, which in future
will be included in the equipment range for the eight-speed sports
automatic transmission. And the range of BMW ConnectedDrive options
now also includes innovations that, as a result of intelligent
networking, further optimise comfort, safety and the use of
infotainment features inside the vehicle.

EU6 classification standard for all series.

BMW TwinPower Turbo Technology not only ensures enhanced driving
pleasure coupled with reduced fuel consumption, but also offers the
ideal prerequisites for optimised emission performance. As early as in
the summer of 2013, numerous other petrol-driven models of the BMW
brand equipped with this technology package will fulfil the EU6
exhaust emission standard that is due to come into effect as from
September 2014. At the beginning of the 2014 model year, the BMW M
automobiles as well as the six-cylinder versions of the BMW Z4 will
also comply with the EU6 classification. At the same time, the number
of diesel models, which are also equipped as standard with BMW
BluePerformance and as a result also achieve the EU6 classification,
is also to increase.

Intelligent four-wheel drive concept xDrive for further models
of the BMW 1 Series and BMW 3 Series.

With five further models, which can be optionally equipped with BMW
xDrive, BMW will also be continuing the current four-wheel drive
initiative in the summer of 2013. The permanent, electronically
controlled four-wheel drive technology optimises not only traction and
vehicle stability in all weather and road conditions, but also driving
dynamics when taking bends. This can in future also be experienced in
the models BMW 118d xDrive 3-door version and the BMW 118d xDrive
5-door variant. Like the new models BMW 318d xDrive Sedan and the BMW
318d xDrive Touring, they are also powered by a 105 kW/143 hp
four-cylinder diesel power unit. Furthermore, as from the summer of
2013, a new top-of-the-range diesel model for the BMW 3 Series also
featuring BMW xDrive will become available. Power from the
230 kW/313 hp straight six cylinder diesel engine under the bonnet of
the BMW 335d xDrive Sedan is distributed between the front and rear
axles according to each specific situation. The BMW 335d xDrive Sedan
comes as standard with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Optimum acceleration: Eight-speed sports automatic with Launch Control.

The remarkably efficient, fast and comfortably shifting eight-speed
automatic transmission is now available for BMW models across all
series. If desired, it will be possible in future to underscore the
sporting character of the automatic transmission even more
intensively. From the summer of 2013, the optional leather sports
steering wheel with shift paddles will be available for the luxury
sedans of the 7 Series. Using this feature, the driver can manually
adjust the drive settings without having to take his/her hands off the
steering wheel.

Moreover, the eight-speed sports automatic transmission available for
the BMW 1 Series, the BMW 3 Series and the BMW 6 Series will be
complemented by the new Launch Control function. This feature permits
acceleration with optimised traction and maximum dynamics from a
standstill – a function that was previously only available in a
comparable version for BMW M automobiles. In order to use Launch
Control, the driver has to activate the DTC mode of the driving
stability control function DSC, shift the gear selection lever to the
position S, depress the brake pedal firmly and simultaneously press
the accelerator pedal all the way down. After the brake pedal has been
released, the vehicle accelerates with optimal drive slip,
consequently making highest possible use of engine power. The
acceleration process continues for as long as the driver depresses the
accelerator pedal. The equipment range for the sports automatic
transmission also includes shift paddles on the steering wheel, a
specific gear selector switch and exceptionally dynamic gear-change
characteristics that also ensure supreme driving performance during
short bursts of speed.

BMW EfficientDynamics: ECO PRO Mode now with sailing function
and anticipation assistant.

Thanks to new functions for the ECO PRO Mode, which can be activated
via the Driving Experience Control feature, BMW is increasing the
possibilities of achieving better fuel economy through intelligent
energy management. From the summer of 2013, all model variants of the
BMW 1 Series*, the BMW 3 Series* and the BMW 6 Series equipped with
the eight-speed automatic transmission or the eight-speed sports
transmission either optionally or as standard, will feature the new
sailing mode (except the BMW 114i, 116i, 118i, 316i and 320i
EfficientDynamics Edition). At speeds of between 50 and 160 km/h in
the ECO PRO Mode, the drive train is disconnected as soon as the
driver lifts his/her foot from the accelerator pedal without applying
the brakes. As a result, the vehicle is able to ‘sail’ without engine
power, thereby also achieving maximum fuel efficiency. Fuel economy
is now promoted even more intensively using the optional navigation
system Professional.

The new anticipation assistant informs the driver of the ideal time
to slow down when approaching bends, stretches, curves and roundabouts
of road where speed limits are in force in order to obtain better fuel
efficiency. For the first time, BMW EfficientDynamics technology and
BMW ConnectedDrive technology will be networked with each other within
the framework of the intelligent energy management – with the effect
that further fuel savings will be achieved in ECO PRO mode.

BMW ConnectedDrive: New options and enhanced functions.

Furthermore, from the summer of 2013, BMW will also set new
benchmarks in intelligent networking, thanks to the consistently
upgraded range of BMW ConnectedDrive features. New options and
enhanced functions ensure further optimisation.

The options Driving Assistant and Driving Assistant Plus initially
introduced exclusively for the BMW 7 Series will be available with a
new functional structure both for the luxury sedan and further BMW
models. The safety package Driving Assistant comprises the Lane
Departure Warning as well as a pedestrian and collision warning with
braking function. The system detects vehicles driving ahead and, at
speeds of up to 60 km/h, also persons who are on a possible collision
course. In an identified hazard situation, the driver is warned by
means of visual and acoustic signals. In order to shorten the stopping
distance, the braking system is simultaneously preconditioned.
Furthermore, at speeds of up to 60 km/h an emergency braking manoeuvre
with medium deceleration is also activated in order to reduce speed
and draw the driver’s attention to the critical situation.

The Driving Assistant Plus provides even more comprehensive support.
The system combines Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go function
with the Driving Assistant, ensuring above all enhanced comfort and
safety in slow-moving traffic and tailbacks. At speeds of up to 210
km/h, the driver is able to delegate the Distance Control function to
the system. A combination of front camera and full-range radar sensors
detects all vehicles ahead, whether moving or stationary. Should the
driver not react to the warning of a potential collision, the Driving
Assistant Plus automatically slows the vehicle down – with maximum
deceleration power if necessary.

The Lane Change Warning assistant, also available as an individual
option, can be used in future from a speed of 20 km/h. The system
monitors the traffic situation on the adjacent lane in the area called
the dead spot and warns he driver of potential critical situations
during overtaking manoeuvres.

Thanks to additional functions, the use of the optional BMW Head-Up
Display is becoming even more attractive. The system, which uses the
entire colour spectrum when projecting driving-related information
onto the windscreen, is now being complemented by additional display
information on further models. If required, telephone contact and
infotainment lists are also displayed within the driver’s direct field
of vision. As a result, the driver is able to use this information
without having to take his/her eyes off the road.

From the summer of 2013, the new generation of the night vision
system BMW Night Vision will be optionally available for all models of
the BMW 6 Series and BMW 7 Series. This system now also comprises an
animal recognition function in addition to the pedestrian recognition
feature and the Dynamic Light Spot on BMW 5 Series and BMW 7 Series
models. The system provides a real-time video image that also depicts
on the Control Display persons, animals and other objects emitting
heat when they are outside of the light beam and warns in the event of
an impending collision. The Dynamic Light Spot is produced by a
special headlight that directs the light beam onto the recognised
persons or animals respectively, thus drawing the driver’s attention
to possible hazards in good time.

The range of functions for the Active Protection option has also been
further upgraded. In critical situations, this safety package helps to
reduce the consequences of a possible accident by applying a number of
countermeasures. In such a case, the side windows and, if necessary,
also the sliding roof are closed, front seatbelts tightened and the
backrest of the front passenger seat brought into an upright position.
Active Protection also includes an attention assistant that analyses
driving behaviour and, if necessary, advises the driver to rest. The
advice to take a break is provided in the form of graphic symbols
shown on the Control Display.

Press Contact: Kai Lichte
Tel: +49-341-445-38000
E-mail: kai.lichte@bmwgroup.com

Press Release,ConnectedDrive,Z4,Efficient Dynamics,3 Series,6 Series,1 Series,5 Series,Intelligent Connected Vehicles,Product,BMW

Munich. BMW will be treating customers to even
greater driving pleasure and an even more diverse line-up of models
from spring 2013, thanks to additional engine and drive system
variants, an expanded range of equipment and attractive new BMW
ConnectedDrive features. The selection of petrol engines available for
the BMW 3 Series Touring will stretch from the entry-level BMW 316i
Touring developing 100 kW/136 hp all the way to the similarly new
flagship model, the BMW 335i Touring with 225 kW/306 hp. The engine
line-up will be bolstered by another two diesel variants, including
the extremely efficient BMW 320d EfficientDynamics Edition Touring.
Customers will also be able to order the new BMW 3 Series Touring with
intelligent all-wheel drive from spring 2013; five xDrive variants
will be available initially. The move sees BMW pushing ahead with its
model offensive in the all-wheel-drive sector; six additional xDrive
variants will be added to the BMW 3 Series range in total, while the
BMW 6 Series will welcome a further four all-wheel-drive models.
Meanwhile, the number of models which meet the EU6 exhaust
stipulations – due to come into force in September 2014 – as standard
is also set to grow.

An exclusive package of equipment features marks out the Limited
Edition Lifestyle models poised to swell the ranks of the BMW 1 Series
Coupe and BMW 1 Series Convertible in spring 2013. Plus, the new
generation of the Professional navigation system will be available as
an option for all variants of the BMW 6 Series, the BMW X3 and the BMW
1 Series in both 5-door and 3-door guise. Standard equipment for all
BMW 6 Series and new BMW 3 Series models will now include Intelligent
Emergency Call with automatic vehicle location and accident severity
detection, while the new BMW 3 Series will also feature a hands-free
system and USB interface as standard in future.

Munich. With effect from July 2012, an extensive
range of model update measures will again render many BMW models even
more attractive. It comprises an additional choice of engines as well
as new standard and optional equipment features. The focus will be on
a further reduction in fuel consumption and exhaust emissions,
enhanced safety and driving pleasure as well as increased comfort and
user convenience.

With the BMW 114i, an attractive entry-level engine is being
introduced to the 1 Series. The BMW M135i is to be added to the BMW 1
Series as a new high-performance, top-of-the-range compact hatch. BMW
1 Series variants featuring xDrive are also being introduced for the
first time. This intelligent four-wheel drive system is in the
pipeline for the BMW 120d and the new BMW M135i.

From the summer, BMW xDrive will be available for the first time in
conjunction with three petrol engine variants of the new BMW 3 Series
Sedan. A fourth model is expected to be available from autumn, the BMW
320d. Furthermore, with the BMW 330d, the first model of the latest
generation will be offered with the straight six-cylinder diesel power
unit. Another model in preparation is the highly efficient BMW 320i
EfficientDynamics Edition.

The BMW 6 Series will feature, inter alia, a whole new range of
assistance systems. The option Speed Limit Info is to be supplemented
by No Passing Info in the new BMW 6 Series. The BMW 5 Series Gran
Turismo is also undergoing an extensive upgrade: in addition to the
new model BMW Gran Turismo 520d, revised engines for the BMW Gran
Turismo 530d and the BMW Gran Turismo 550i, the standard feature
Driving Experience Control with ECO PRO mode, optional Active
Protection and the BMW Parking Assistant are also being introduced. As
an option, it is possible to equip the BMW Gran Turismo 530d with
technologies for fulfilling the EU6 exhaust emission standard. The
same applies to the BMW 330d Sedan. If desired, the BMW X3 xDrive 20d
can now also be equipped to conform with the EU6 emission standard.
