Munich (DE), 18th March 2014. Tyre manufacturer Dunlop is Official Partner of BMW Motorsport for the new BMW M235i Racing: the car will be delivered exclusively with Dunlop racing tyres in its first season. This cooperation sees the two companies embark on the next chapter of their close and long-term success story together.

All BMW M235i Racings delivered by BMW Motorsport will be fitted with 265/660 R18 Dunlop racing tyres. They have been developed specifically for use on the new car. The result is a broad range of application areas and good nature when pushed to the limit, as well as an optimal grip level and outstanding handling characteristics. Even those just starting out in motor racing will find it easy to come to terms with the BMW M235i Racing – whatever the weather. Not only are the slicks fine-tuned on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife (DE), but the wet-weather tyres also offer a high level of traction and good stability on a drying track. As well as the racing tyres, Dunlop also offers technical support and a tyre service for all teams.

“In Dunlop, we know that we have a proven and strong partner on our side,” said BMW Motorsport Director Jens Marquardt. “On the Nürburgring-Nordschleife, which is primarily where the BMW M235i Racing will be in action in its first season, the constantly fluctuating weather conditions place unique demands on the tyres. We are pleased to be able to call on Dunlop’s expertise and years of Nordschleife expertise in this regard. For us, it is important that the BMW M235i Racing can also be driven fast and safely by newcomers to motorsport. The Dunlop tyres, which have been developed specially for this racing car, contribute significantly towards this.”

The introduction of the BMW M235i Racing sees BMW Motorsport expand its range of cars in the BMW Sports Trophy. At a price of 59,500 Euros (plus VAT), the car offers an affordable means of starting out in motor racing. The 333 hp racing car, which is based on the BMW M235i Coupé production model, is powered by a straight six-cylinder engine with a capacity of 2,979 cc. Among the electronic safety features are motorsport-specific driving aids, such as ABS, DSC and traction control. The new racing car will be used in series and events at the Nürburgring-Nordschleife this season, including the VLN Endurance Championship, the Nürburgring 24 Hours, and the RCN Rundstrecken-Challenge Nürburgring (Circuit Racing Challenge Nürburgring).
