The two BMW M3 GTRs entered by Team BMW Motorsport are fighting their way back
up the leaderboard of the 24 Hour race at the Nürburgring. After strong starts
in the long distance classic the cars, with start numbers 1 and 2, dropped back
after pit stops following incidents on the track. Currently, after five hours
of racing, it is the car of last year's winners, Dirk Müller (GER), Jörg Müller
(GER), Hans-Joachim Stuck (GER), that is running in third place, while car no 2
of Pedro Lamy (POR), Duncan Huisman (NLD), Andy Priaulx (GBR), Boris Said (USA)
is running in fourth.

Since lap no 24 Jörg Müller has been back at the wheel of the 500 bhp GT coupe
with number 1. While leading Dirk Müller went off the track on lap 15 at the
Bergwerk section, as he had been running on dry tyres when it started raining.
The suspension of the BMW M3 GTR was damaged and, after a pit stop of
approximately ten minutes for repairs, was out again with Stuck at the wheel.
He then worked his way back to third. Now it is Jörg Müller who is driving the
car and trying to make up for lost time on the 25.378 kilometre track.

The BMW M3 GTR number 2 dropped back to 55th following Huisman's accident on
lap six. However, during their respective stints Lamy and Priaulx moved up the
time sheets. Following another driver change to Said, the car is currently
running in fourth. The gap from car number 1 to the leading Dodge Viper GTS-R
of Peter Zakowski, Robert Lechner, Sascha Bert is one lap at the moment.

Andy Priaulx (BMW M3 GTR Car No 2): "Over the past few laps we have been able
to improve our standing on the leaderboard by several positions, which gives us
motivation for the hours ahead. In my stint, however, I was not too happy with
the tyres."

Hans-Joachim Stuck (BMW M3 GTR Car No 1): "Once again it is obvious the
weather in the Nordschleife is unpredictable. We have finally found our rhythm
in this race, and I would be more than happy for it to continue this way. We
are fighting our way back."
