  <strong>Munich.</strong> On September 3, 2025, during a ceremonial
  event at the Vatican, a specially customized BMW R 18 Transcontinental
  was presented to Pope Leo XIV. for blessing and signing on the motorcycle.</p>
<p>This uniquely customized R 18 Transcontinental, donated by BMW
  Motorrad and bearing the signature of the Pontiff, was successfully
  auctioned by Missio Austria through Sotheby's at Motorworld in Munich

  130,000 euros, will go to children's aid projects in Madagascar.</p>
<p>Markus Flasch, CEO BMW Motorrad: "The fantastic result of the
  auction of our R 18 Transcontinental signed by Pope Leo XIV. is a
  wonderful final highlight of this charity campaign. Like everyone
  involved, I am also delighted that we can make a significant
  contribution with the auction proceeds of 130,000 euros to support aid

<p>
  <strong>Munich/Garmisch-Partenkirchen.</strong> <br clear="all" />Two
  extraordinary custom bikes from the Bavarian Forest made their debut
  at the <br clear="all" />BMW Motorrad Days 2025: the R 12 and R 18
  builds by [WOIDWERK]. Under the project name “The Speed Sisters,” Ralf
  Eggl – founder and creative force behind [WOIDWERK] – crafted two
  unique interpretations that captivated both motorcycle enthusiasts and
  custom scene insiders in Garmisch.</p>
<p>
  <strong>A strong duo with character – “The Speed Sisters”
    project.</strong> <br clear="all" />The goal of the project was to
  portray the BMW Motorrad cruiser models R 12 and R 18 as a
  custom-built sibling pair – stylistically connected, but deliberately
  not identical: “Sisters, not twins,” as Roland Stocker, Project
  Manager Heritage BMW Motorrad, puts it. Execution was led by Ralf
  Eggl, the visionary behind [WOIDWERK], with BMW Motorrad providing the
  two Boxer base bikes: a BMW R 12 as a dynamic retro cruiser and a BMW
  R 18 as a bold, powerful statement bike. The result is a custom duo
  that not only highlights the technical and stylistic relationship
  between the two models but also gives each its own distinct identity.</p>
<p>
  <strong>BMW R 12 – the sporty, agile “little sister.” <br clear="all" /></strong>[WOIDWERK]’s interpretation of the BMW R 12
  emphasizes lightness, agility, and a modern design language. The rear
  section was heavily shortened in classic bobber style, giving it a
  clean, minimalist look, while the riding position was made sportier
  thanks to a new handlebar, modified foot pegs, and a custom
  leather-and-Alcantara seat.</p>
<p>A bespoke tank cover with Alcantara surface was CAD-designed and
  3D-printed. Like on the R 18, it bears the project logo – a striking
  sign of the family connection. A chassis raised by 15 mm, featuring a
  Wilbers shock absorber, enables an actively engaged riding position.
  The sporty setup is further underscored by a deep-black exhaust system
  from Hattech with a special ceramic coating – understated in tone, yet
  always present.</p>
<p>The taillight design features elegant Kellermann Jetstream sequential
  indicators styled like aircraft wings, seamlessly integrated into a
  tailor-made, filigree tail cowl. The paintwork, executed by
  Lackierzentrum Hirsch, reflects the distinct color concept of the
  “Speed Sisters.”</p>
<p>
  <strong>BMW R 18 – powerful, confident, and modern.<br clear="all" /></strong>The big sister also received a comprehensive
  custom makeover. Raising and narrowing the tank by 30 mm, along with a
  floating, self supporting seat and handcrafted “Targa hoop”, made
  the bike’s silhouette noticeably more dynamic.</p>
<p>A 20 mm chassis lift, using a Wilbers shock absorber, enhances the R
  18’s commanding presence. Media information Date 5 November 2024 Topic
  BMW Motorrad presents the BMW Concept F 450 GS. Page 3 BMW Motorrad
  Corporate Communications The overall look and feel were sharpened both
  technically and visually: The standard braking system was upgraded to
  a high-performance radial setup – featuring 320 mm brake discs and
  radial brake calipers from the BMW R 1300 GS. This not only enhanced
  the sportiness visually, but also significantly improved braking performance.</p>
<p>Many components – from fairing brackets to the taillight housing to
  the signature swingarm end cap with integrated license plate holder –
  were custom-designed, CNC-milled, or 3D-printed. The indicator and
  taillight mounts on the swingarm are also in-house developments,
  reflecting [WOIDWERK]’s attention to detail.</p>
<p>The black ceramic-coated exhaust system by Hattech delivers a throaty
  sound that perfectly complements the muscular lines. As with the R 12,
  the individually crafted seat in leather and Alcantara with visible
  hand-stitching was created by Zinteriors.</p>
<p>
  <strong>Color concept: Inspired by the Bavarian Forest.</strong> <br clear="all" />Both bikes share a distinctive color scheme symbolizing
  the seasons of the Bavarian Forest: ¾ white, ¼ green – a
  tongue-in-cheek reference to the region’s famously long winters. This
  color ratio is reflected in the paintwork, seat upholstery, and the
  green-tinted fairing screens – a creative detail that drew much
  attention in Garmisch. “These are the colors of the Bavarian Forest,”
  says Ralf Eggl. “As we say here: Three-quarters of the year is winter,
  and the other quarter is cold – that’s the Bavarian Forest.”</p>
<p>
  <strong>Excitement in Garmisch.<br clear="all" /></strong>The
  unveiling of “The Speed Sisters” at the BMW Motorrad Days 2025 in
  Garmisch-Partenkirchen created a real buzz among the crowd. The fusion
  of craftsmanship, attention to detail, and technical finesse won
  widespread praise, quickly making the bikes crowd favorites. Roland
  Stocker, Project Manager Heritage BMW Motorrad: “When Ralf Eggl said,
  ‘The Bavarian Forest is our home, and BMW is our passion,’ we knew
  [WOIDWERK] was the perfect partner for this project. His style blends
  local craftsmanship with technical sophistication and gives the two
  cruisers a new, authentic expression.”</p>
<p>
  <strong>[WOIDWERK] – Craftsmanship from the Bavarian Forest.<br clear="all" /></strong>For over a decade, [WOIDWERK] has stood for
  premium BMW-based custom builds – defined by precision craftsmanship,
  deep regional roots, and a distinct design language. With “The Speed
  Sisters,” Ralf Eggl once again proves his keen sense for form,
  function, and the brand DNA of BMW Motorrad.</p>
<p>This project confirms once more: customizing a BMW is more than just
  a question of style – it’s a statement of attitude, creativity, and
  true passion for motorcycles.</p>

  <strong>“Even more riding fun – that was our goal when revising the
    BMW R 18 and<br />R 18 Classic. We have refined the design style,
    added numerous improvements in terms of detail and comfort and made
    the R 18 even more fun to ride with the<br />18-inch rear wheel. In
    addition to new finishes and equipment, the<br />BMW R 18 Roctane, R
    18 B and R 18 Transcontinental have also undergone a technical
    revision to bring the entire BMW R 18 range into line with the EU 5+
  standard.”<br /></strong>Markus Lederer, Head of Boxer Series</p>
<p>
  <strong>Munich. </strong>BMW Motorrad entered the cruiser segment in
  2020 with the BMW R 18, followed in the same year by the R 18 Classic,
  a nostalgic touring bike. Finally, in 2021, the R 18 Transcontinental
  and the R 18 B were added to the Big Boxer Heritage series – a Grand
  American touring motorcycle for luxurious travel and a bagger for cool
  highway cruising. In 2023, the BMW R 18 Roctane became the fifth
  member of the fascinating<br />R 18 family, offering superior cruising
  and touring in custom bagger style ever since. For the 2025 model
  year, the R 18 models feature updates in terms of design, comfort and technology.</p>
<p>
  <strong>Offering increased torque, the Big Boxer now complies with
    Euro 5+ in all<br />BMW R 18 models.<br /></strong>A revision of the
  engine control now ensures compliance with the Euro 5+ standard. The
  maximum torque of the 67 kW (91 hp) 1,802 cc Big Boxer has been
  increased by 5 Nm to 163 Nm at 3,000 rpm. From 2,000 to 4,000 rpm,
  more than 150 Nm of torque is available at any time – an absolutely
  superior source of riding pleasure.</p>
<p>
  <strong>BMW R 18: custom cruiser staged in modern, dynamic
  style.<br /></strong>As a cruiser, the revised BMW R 18 is now purist
  but also more contemporary. Featuring newly crafted designs for the
  front and rear wheel covers along with an 18-inch rear wheel
  (previously 16-inch) and a new wheel design featuring seven double
  spokes, the R 18 has a more dynamic appearance that goes even further
  in emphasising its authentic cruiser character. The wheels are also
  optionally available as Contrast Cut Wheels. Here, the cast aluminum
  wheels are given a glossy polish and then sealed with clear finish.
  The familiar 19”/16” spoked wheel combination is still available as an option.</p>
<p>Extending over the entire length of the tank on the top, the
  sculpture of the iconic fuel tank is seamlessly continued at the rear
  fender and ends at the level of the BMW emblem. Having previously
  stylised the classic round arch, the front fender now has a much more
  modern and dynamic appearance due to a sculptural surface elevation.
  All three body components now look as if they have been cast from a
  single piece. The side cover perfectly matches this design style with
  its more marked side contour. The more modern styling is also
  reflected in the “rough look” of the fork section, the fork tubes now
  free and without classic fork sleeves.</p>
<p>Other features that harmonise with the more dynamic design style are
  the new silencers with a circular cross-section and the newly designed
  individual seat with foam that is 10 mm thicker and with modified
  design contours. The significantly more comfortable seat is removable
  and can be conveniently unlocked using a push button concealed under
  the cover.</p>
<p>In order to ensure a more comfortable ride, the spring strut has a
  new set-up in terms of its spring/damping rates. This was applied
  together with the new 18-inch rear wheel, with the new tyre dimension
  180/55 B 18 to match. Other new features include the now standard
  daytime running lights (depending on the market) and a USB-C charging socket.</p>
<p>The basic version of the BMW R 18 features a silver powertrain, a
  chrome-plated exhaust system and black cast aluminum wheels. The body
  colour is Blackstorm Metallic.</p>
<p>In the Option 719 Olivine variant available ex works as optional
  equipment, the R 18 has a black powertrain, the Aero design package,
  surface-enhanced Option 719 Icon cast wheels (19”/16”), a
  chrome-plated exhaust system and the Option 719 seat. The body finish
  is Velvet Green Metallic.</p>
<p>The BMW R 18 Blacked Out equipment variant is new and features black
  elements almost throughout.</p>
<p>
  <strong>BMW R 18 Classic: even more classic and
  authentic.<br /></strong>The BMW R 18 Classic likewise benefits from a
  refined design style to further hone its character as a nostalgic
  touring bike. The most striking new feature is the front mudguard
  adopted from the R 18 B in conjunction with a 19-inch spoke front
  wheel (previously 16-inch). The front fender now incorporates the
  mudguard extension, which has been significantly lowered for a stylish
  effect. The new fender not only harmonises with the fork sleeves still
  available for the R 18 Classic but also confidently underlines its
  affiliation to the nostalgic touring segment. Together with newly
  designed side covers and rear silencers featuring a circular
  cross-section, the R 18 Classic now has an even more classic and
  authentic appearance. Other new features include daytime running
  lights as standard (depending on the market) and a USB-C charging socket.</p>
<p>The basic version of the BMW R 18 Classic has a powertrain finished
  in silver, a chrome-plated exhaust system, spoked wheels (19”/16”) and
  fork tube trim elements. The body finishes are Blackstorm Metallic and
  Mineral Grey Metallic Matt.</p>
<p>In the Option 719 Aquamarine variant available ex works as optional
  equipment, the<br />R 18 Classic features a silver powertrain, the
  Aero design package, surface-enhanced Option 719 Icon cast wheels
  (19”/16”), the front mudguard of the R 18 Transcontinental, fork tube
  trim elements, a chrome-plated exhaust system and the Option 719 seat.
  The body colour is a two-tone paint finish in Blue Planet
  Metallic/Oriental Blue Metallic.</p>
<p>The BMW R 18 Classic Blacked Out equipment variant is new and
  features black elements almost throughout.</p>
<p>
  <strong>BMW R 18 und R 18 Classic Blacked Out: black, elegant and
    powerfully expressive.<br /></strong>In the Blacked Out variant
  available ex works as optional equipment, the BMW R 18 and R 18
  Classic look particularly elegant and powerfully expressive with a
  range of equipment features in Black High Gloss and Dark Chrome.</p>
<p>The Blacked Out optional equipment includes the black powertrain, the
  Design Option Black, the exhaust system in Dark Chrome and other
  components in Black High Gloss or Dark Chrome</p>

  <strong>BMW R 18 Roctane, R 18 B and R 18
  Transcontinental.<br /></strong>The BMW R 18 Roctane had its market
  launch in mid-2023, so its design already includes features such as
  the cast aluminium wheels and the Blacked Out optional equipment.
  Nonetheless, the R 18 Roctane, the R 18 B and the R 18
  Transcontinental have now received fresh input in terms of product
  properties, surfaces and paintwork.</p>
<p>The <strong>BMW R 18 Roctane</strong> is now also available in the
  new colour scheme<br />Two-Tone Dragonfire Red Metallic. Also new as
  optional equipment is the Filler Panel in body colour, which visually

<p>The <strong>BMW R 18 B</strong> already features the favourites

  instrument panel provides quick access to functions such as direct
  activation of the grip heating – without having to go through the
  instrument console menu using the Multicontroller. A switch for the
  central locking system used to be located here. This has been replaced
  by the favourites button. The central locking system can still be
  conveniently controlled using the remote control key.</p>
<p>The items included in the optional equipment Blacked Out are the
  black powertrain, the Design Option Black, the exhaust system in Dark
  Chrome and further components in Black High Gloss or Dark Chrome. The
  optional equipment variant Option 719 Black Pearl now also includes
  the push rods and the intake silencer in Dark Chrome. Also new here is
  the optional equipment Filler Panel in body color and the Comfort
  package with the previously available features Hill Start Control,
  lockable fuel cap, RDC, central locking and seat heating.</p>
<p>The basic variant of the <strong>BMW R 18 Transcontinental</strong>
  is available in the new additional colour scheme Two-Tone Dragonfire
  Red Metallic and now comes with the favourites button as standard. The
  new body finish is supplemented exclusively with a black powertrain as
  well as push rods and intake silencer in Dark Chrome. The new optional
  equipment item Comfort package includes Hill Start Control, RDC,

<p>
  <strong>Munich/Phoenix/Verona. </strong>Custom motorcycle visionary
  Paul Yaffe has raised the bar once again with the revelation of his
  latest masterpiece, a one-of-a-kind customization of the BMW R 18
  Transcontinental. Melding classic hot rod aesthetics with the
  distinctive BMW essence, this project is a testament to Yaffe’s
  excellence as a designer.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>A legend of the US customizing scene:<br /></strong>Since
  1991, the custom motorcycle world has known Paul Yaffe as one of the
  elite creators of motorized masterpieces. That’s because Paul is more
  than a builder or fabricator, he is truly a designer. Beginning with
  the establishment of American Legend Motorcycle Company, which later
  evolved into Paul Yaffe’s Bagger Nation, he has earned accolades such
  as three "World's Most Beautiful Motorcycle" awards from the
  Oakland Roadster Show, two “Builder of Year” and three “Trendsetter of
  the Year” awards from Easyriders Magazine, as well as becoming an
  inductee into the Sturgis Hall of Fame in 2015. His custom bikes have
  been featured in over 300 magazine articles worldwide as well as on
  the Discovery channel, the History channel, and other television
  shows. His products, distributed through a network of partners in six
  countries, continue to inspire a generation of customizers.<br />
  <br />Now, Paul Yaffe reveals his latest masterpiece — a one-of-a-kind
  customization of the BMW R 18 Transcontinental, which will debut at
  the MBE Show in Verona, Italy.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>Preserving BMW Essence and Hot Rod
  Inspiration.<br /></strong>Before getting started, Paul spent time
  getting to know the BMW R18 Transcontinental, riding 3800 miles across
  the USA, and additional 2600 miles to Sturgis and back.<br />
  <br />Once the customization process began, Paul knew he wanted to
  create a big wheel bagger like no one had ever seen. Crucial to the
  project was retaining as many original BMW components as possible.
  Paul wanted his custom creation to remain authentically BMW and knew
  that it should not be made from or look anything like parts from his
  existing product line.<br />
  <br />He commissioned a 26” x 5.5” front wheel cut from a 400lb block
  of solid aluminium, which holds a handmade 180mm wide front tire. The
  frame had to be stretched and raked to accommodate the new front wheel
  and special triple trees had to be engineered to correct the trail
  measurement and optimize handling.<br />
  <br />Embracing the look of an iconic 50’s Mercury Lead Sled the team
  crafted several <br />one-of-a-kind components and modified existing R
  18 elements. The steel front fender was made from scratch. The
  original R 18 fairing was cut into several pieces and restructured to
  correct headlight position and flow into the new front wheel. To
  address the gap between the fairing and the fuel tank a unique chin
  spoiler was developed, strategically concealing the radiator.
  Additionally, an exclusive set of Yaffe Monkey Bars was crafted to
  complement the overall design.<br />
  <br />“The team wanted to retain the saddlebag lids, latches and
  speakers so a new set of ‘skins’ was created to give the bags a
  completely new and unique stretched profile while retaining the
  excellent engineering and functionality that BMW had created for
  them.” Paul’s team extended the original rear fender by crafting a
  second R 18 rear fender, ensuring it seamlessly matched the profile of
  the new saddlebags.<br />
  <br />As the build began to take shape, Yaffe rearranged the
  original R 18 taillights into the handmade filler panels and worked an
  area for the license plate into the fender in classic hot rod styling.
  He also stretched the original R 18 side covers to retain their
  original shape and cover more area to help the eye flow into the bags.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>Classic Lead Sled Look.<br /></strong>Staying true to the
  classic Lead Sled aesthetic, Yaffe prioritized two crucial components:
  air suspension and side pipes.<br />
  <br />Paul and his team designed a sophisticated air tank and
  distribution system as well as a dedicated frame beneath each side of
  the saddlebags to accommodate essential components, including the
  necessary air storage tanks, a sizable air compressor and all the
  controls, valving and solenoids necessary for the effective support
  and operation of the system.<br />
  <br />Turning their focus to the side pipe design the fabrication team
  aimed to preserve the distinctive "BMW feel" that sets this
  build apart. Retaining the classic Boxer head pipes was non-negotiable
  in Paul's vision. The catalytic converters were removed from the head
  pipes making way for a bespoke perforated high-flow baffle system.
  This innovation not only replaced the restrictive emissions system but
  also retained essential back pressure for optimal performance. To
  further enhance the auditory experience a precision-crafted
  <br />3-step muffler system was introduced for reversion. The final
  touch was a wide-open megaphone, delivering that quintessential
  classic hot rod sound.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>It all comes down to cosmetics.<br /></strong>Shifting focus
  to cosmetics Paul wanted a classic hot rod feel without any
  distracting graphics, highlighting the bike’s elegant new stance and
  profile. The emphasis was on simplicity and allure. “We went to work
  perfecting all the fabricated body panels and smoothing everything to
  a glass-like finish.” After settling on a timeless deep gloss black
  finish, the team’s attention turned to achieving perfection for the
  body. Paul tasked his dedicated painter Hector Martinez, with applying
  the flawless gloss black paint. Recognizing the need for contrast,
  Paul decided on a classic ochs blood red interior. The art is in
  finding the perfect balance. “The trick is not to overdo it!” Guys
  Upholstery created the contemporary-style saddle and dash console and
  Hector mixed up a colour for the front callipers to match. “We think
  it came out spectacular!”<br />

<p>
  <strong>Munich/Gelsenkirchen.</strong> When Dirk Oehlerking dedicates
  himself to the BMW R 18 with his Kingston Custom customizing forge, a
  spectacular result is guaranteed. The well-known customizer recently
  caused a stir in the scene with the R 18 Spirit of Passion - a
  breath-taking creation in streamlined style.<br />
  <br />The R 18 The Crown goes a big step further. "It is the
  essence of my creations to date," says Oehlerking, whose passion
  and creativity has always been for individual and unusual motorcycles.
  This is exactly what he has been doing with total commitment in the
  Ruhr region for 30 years now. He loves industrial culture and the
  proximity to industry and crafts, has a great network and stunning
  photo backdrops for his motorcycles and himself.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>Self-designed body made of aluminium sheet metal and front
    wheel suspension with double-sided swinging arm with central
    suspension strut.<br /></strong>To mark 100 years of BMW Motorrad,
  he has now created the R 18 The Crown, a big boxer motorcycles that
  has it all. "I started with a new BMW R18 which I then stripped
  down. As always, I worked with hard foam and cardboard to create the
  shape, the lines and the design. The aim was for it to look powerful,
  elegant and fast combined with an innovative look," is how
  Oehlerking describes his design approach.<br />
  <br />The design made it necessary to adapt the technology
  considerably. A completely new front wheel suspension had to be
  constructed in the form of a double-sided swinging arm with central
  suspension strut.<br />
  <br />The 8-litre fuel tank and the body parts were made of 2 mm thick
  aluminium sheet metal, which was cut, bent and driven by hand.<br />
  <br />While the engine and rear suspension are the same as in the
  original, the two stainless steel exhaust manifolds are completely
  made by hand.<br />
  <br />Numerous standard components such as the headlight, instrument,
  switch units and footrest system have been integrated perfectly into
  the spectacular concept of the R 18 The Crown. The clutch and
  handbrake fittings from Magura, the rear mudguard and brackets from
  Wunderkind and the saddle made from 2 mm thick aluminium sheet metal
  and covered with genuine leather are all harmonious additions.<br />
  <br />As the icing on the cake, Oehlerking gave the R 18 The Crown a
  Champagne Platinum paint finish with mother-of-pearl, complemented by
  the BMW brand emblem adorned with a small crown.<br />
  <br />The unveiling of the BMW R 18 The Crown will take place from 7
  to 9 July 2023 on the occasion of 100 years of BMW Motorrad as part of
  the BMW Motorrad Days in Berlin.<br />

    angleškem jeziku spodaj in v priponki.<br clear="all" />
    <br clear="all" />The new BMW R 18 Transcontinental and R 18 B: “The
    Big Boxer" as the Grand American Tourer for luxurious
    travelling and as Bagger for cool American highway cruising.</strong>
  <br />With the new R 18 Transcontinental, BMW Motorrad is adding a
  Grand American Tourer to the R 18 family as well as the R 18 B
  "Bagger", which is particularly popular in the USA. As with
  the previous R 18 models, the new R 18 Transcontinental and R 18 B
  combine the thrilling power of the "Big Boxer" with a
  classic chassis concept based on historical models, exclusive
  equipment and a stylish design.<br />
  <br />This makes the R 18 Transcontinental ideal for travelling and
  long-distance rides in American riding style - both for riding solo
  and with a pillion and luggage. The R 18 B, on the other hand, is
  designed as a "rider’s machine" delivering emotional driving
  pleasure and ideal for cool touring and cruising.<br />
  <br />Special features of the new R 18 Transcontinental
  include:<br />Front fairing with high wind shield, wind deflector and
  flaps. Cockpit with four analogue round instruments and 10.25 inch TFT
  colour display, additional headlamp, Marshall sound system, engine
  protection bars, cases, top case, seat heating, chrome trim and an
  engine in Silver metallic.<br />
  <br />In contrast, the new R 18 B does without a top case and, in the
  style of a "bagger", offers a low windshield, a slimmer seat
  and a matt black metallic engine among other things.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>The most powerful BMW boxer engine of all time with full torque.</strong>
  <br />The heart of the new R 18 Transcontinental and R 18 B is a
  2-cylinder boxer engine, the "Big Boxer", which is a
  completely newly development for the R 18 models. Not only its
  impressive appearance, but also its technical specifications show its
  ties to the traditional air-cooled boxer engines that have provided
  inspiring riding experiences for more than seven decades since BMW
  Motorrad began manufacturing motorcycles in 1923. The most powerful
  2-cylinder flat twin engine ever built in motorbike series production
  boasts an engine capacity of 1,802 cc. It generates an output of 67 kW
  (91 hp) at 4 750 rpm. In the 2,000 to 4,000 rpm range, it delivers
  more than 150 Nm of torque at all times as well as elemental pulling
  power and sonorous sound.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>Double-loop tube frame made of steel and a backbone made of
    sheet metal formed parts and rear swinging arm with enclosed axle
    drive in rigid-frame design.</strong>
  <br />The heart of the chassis of the new R 18 Transcontinental and R
  18 B is a double-loop tube steel frame made of steel with a backbone
  of sheet metal formed parts. Its design perpetuates the longstanding
  BMW Motorrad tradition of this frame type. The particularly high
  manufacturing quality and attention to detail are also evident in
  barely perceptible details such as the welded joints between steel
  tubes and cast or forged parts. Like the legendary BMW R 5, the rear
  swinging arm, which is manufactured in a similar design, encloses the
  rear axle drive in the same style using bolted connections.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>Telescopic fork with fork sleeves, cantilever suspension
    strut, light alloy cast wheels and disc brakes in combination with </strong>
  <br />
  <strong>BMW Motorrad Full Integral ABS.</strong>
  <br />The suspension elements of the new R 18 Transcontinental and R
  18 B deliberately dispense with any adjustment options that the rider
  has to make. Instead, a telescopic fork and a directly swinging-arm
  mounted cantilever suspension strut with travel-dependent damping and
  automatically adjustable spring preload ensure superior light-alloy
  cast wheel control and responsive suspension comfort.<br />In order to
  achieve the best possible ride response even when riding with a
  pillion and fully loaded, the rear suspension strut features
  travel-dependent damping and<br />automatic load compensation. As in
  the legendary BMW R 5, the tubes of the telescopic fork are encased in
  fork sleeves. The fork tube diameter is 49 mm, suspension travel is
  120 mm at the front and rear. The new R 18 Transcontinental and R 18 B
  are decelerated by a double disc brake at the front and a single disc
  brake at the rear in conjunction with four-piston fixed callipers and
  BMW Motorrad Full Integral ABS.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>Dynamic Cruise Control (DCC) as standard. </strong>
  <br />
  <strong>Active Cruise Control (ACC) – cruise control with integrated
    distance control for relaxed touring as an ex works option.</strong>
  <br />The R 18 Transcontinental and R 18 B are already equipped as
  standard with DCC electronic cruise control (Dynamic Cruise Control).
  DCC automatically regulates the riding speed set by the rider. Dynamic
  means that the pre-selected speed is kept constant even when riding
  downhill. Active Cruise Control (ACC) allows relaxed gliding with
  distance control – without the rider having to adjust the speed to the
  vehicle in front. With the aid of radar sensors integrated in the
  front fairing, the motorcycle is either accelerated automatically to
  adjust the speed or the new, standard full integral braking system is
  applied for deceleration purposes, depending on the situation on the
  road. ACC also ensures particularly safe cornering. Where necessary,
  the cornering control system automatically reduces the speed, giving
  the rider the right speed for a comfortable and safe banking angle.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>Coherent ergonomics for best possible motorcycle control.</strong>
  <br />The new R 18 Transcontinental and R 18 B feature a
  casual,<br />so-called "mid-mounted footpeg" position of the
  footrests, entirely in keeping with the BMW Motorrad philosophy. This
  classic position behind the cylinders is not only typical of BMW, it
  also allows a relaxed and active riding position for the best possible
  motorcycle control. The R 18 Transcontinental is equipped with an
  especially comfortable seat and seat heating as standard to ensure
  long-distance riding comfort even in two-person operation. The R 18 B
  has a somewhat slimmer two-person seat bench.<br />The new R 18
  Transcontinental is fitted as standard with running boards and the
  new<br />R 18 B with wider and more comfortable footrests than the R 18.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>Cockpit featuring classically designed round instruments and
    10.25” TFT colour screen with map navigation for convenient route
    planning and extensive connectivity as standard.<br /></strong>The
  cockpit, specially designed for the new R 18 Transcontinental and R 18
  B, with four analogue round instruments and a 10.25 inch TFT colour
  display, blends into the classic appearance harmoniously. Featuring
  the iconic "BERLIN BUILT" lettering, it follows the classic
  style of the new R 18 Transcontinental and R 18 B on the one hand, and
  on the other hand offers a perfectly readable TFT colour display
  providing a maximum of functionality and information.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>Three riding modes as well as ASC and MSR as standard for a
    high degree of riding fun and safety. Reversing aid and Hill Start
    Control as an ex works option.</strong>
  <br />In order to meet individual customer needs, the new R 18
  Transcontinental and R 18 B also feature the three riding modes
  "Rain", "Roll" and "Rock" as standard,
  which is unusual in this segment. The standard equipment also includes
  ASC<br />(Automatic Stability Control), which ensures a high level of
  riding safety.<br />In addition, the new R 18 Transcontinental and R
  18 B are equipped with an engine drag torque control (MSR) as
  standard. In addition to other options, a reversing aid makes
  manoeuvring a comfortable affair and the Hill Start Control function
  makes starting off uphill easy.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>The new R 18 Transcontinental and R 18 B: Iconic streamlining
    combined with rigid frame look and modern technology.</strong>
  <br />The new R 18 Transcontinental stands out as a luxurious tourer
  and the new R 18 B as a stylish "Bagger" with its
  characteristic "streamlining", which perfectly integrates
  the front fairing, cases and, in the case of the R 18
  Transcontinental, the top case. They transfer the iconic style of the
  great tourers and cruisers of yesteryear to the present day. The
  purist design, which has been shaped by numerous BMW Motorrad
  classics, lives on in many details. Functional and style-defining
  elements such as the double-loop tube frame, the 24 litre pear-drop
  fuel tank, the open universal shaft drive or the double-line paintwork
  (ex works option) are reminiscent of legendary BMW boxer motorcycles.
  The suspension also harks back splendidly to the old days. Together
  with the double-sided swinging arm and a cantilever suspension strut,
  the rigid frame layout of the R 5 has been perfectly transferred to
  modern times.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>Audio system with Marshall sound system: A new digital sound
    dimension as standard ex works.</strong>
  <br />With the Marshall sound system, the new R 18 Transcontinental
  and R 18 B offer an intense sound experience. Already as standard the
  new R 18 Transcontinental and R 18 B feature a sound system developed
  in collaboration with the British manufacturer Marshall, featuring
  2-way speakers integrated into the front of the fairing. Black cover
  grilles with white Marshall lettering round off the classic look. The
  Marshall Gold Series Stage 1 and Stage 2 sound systems are optionally
  ex works to provide even more intensive listening pleasure. Up to 4
  loudspeakers and 2 subwoofers with 280 watts of total output provide
  incomparable sound quality and "good vibrations". For 60
  years, Marshall, originally from Hanwell, London, now based in
  Bletchley, Milton Keynes (UK), have produced legendary guitar
  amplifiers used by the world’s best musicians. Since 2012 they have
  expanded their audio quality into award winning headphones and active
  speakers designed for music lovers. <br />
  <br />
  <strong>The R 18 Transcontinental First Edition and R 18 B First
    Edition: </strong>
  <br />
  <strong>Exclusive look in paint and chrome.</strong>
  <br />Right from the time of market launch, the new R 18
  Transcontinental and R 18 B will be available worldwide as exclusive R
  18 Transcontinental First Edition and<br />R 18 B First Edition
  versions. They combine the R 18 look with exclusive features in
  classic black paintwork with white double-lining. Further highlights
  are the specially designed surfaces (Chrome Package), high-grade
  stitching on the seat and the<br />"First Edition” lettering.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>Large variety of parts allow for perfect customizing and
    optimum individualisation. Exclusive Option 719 equipment.</strong>
  <br />The Original BMW Motorrad Accessories range offers a maximum of
  individualisation options for tailoring the R 18 Transcontinental and
  R 18 B to your personal taste. The design collections of milled
  aluminium parts familiar from the R 18 and R 18 Classic, which were
  created together with Roland Sands Design, are also available for
  the<br />new R 18 Transcontinental and R 18 B. With regard to audio
  systems, BMW Motorrad cooperates with the British manufacturer
  Marshall. For the new R 18 Transcontinental and R 18 B, BMW Motorrad
  offers a range of particularly high-quality and exclusive optional
  extras as "Option 719", such as Option 719 Galaxy Dust
  metallic paint finish and Original BMW Motorrad Accessories.<br />
