Munich. With its combination of extremely agile handling, M-typical performance and compact dimensions, the BMW M2 embodies unadulterated driving pleasure in its ultimate expression. The new BMW M2 with M xDrive (fuel consumption, combined: 10.4 – 10.3 l/100 km [27.2 – 27.4 mpg imp]; CO₂ emissions, combined: 235 – 233 g/km according to WLTP, CO₂ class: G)* sees BMW M GmbH expanding the breadth of the M2 model line-up. Here, the all-wheel-drive system M xDrive will be available for the compact high-performance sports car for the first time. M xDrive splits the power developed by the 353 kW/480 hp six-cylinder in-line engine with BMW M TwinPower Turbo technology between the front and rear axles according to the situation at hand. Also in play is the Active M Differential, which distributes drive fully variably between the rear wheels as required, maximising traction and delivering the driving dynamics normally associated with a rear-wheel drive model.

These enhanced traction levels increase the car’s agility, dynamism and directional stability once again – and further improve its acceleration figures. The new BMW M2 with M xDrive therefore offers drivers the inimitable M feeling through all four seasons of the year, in almost any road conditions and in all weathers – without any trade-off in performance. The car showcases its optimised traction (which is also the product of specially developed chassis tuning) with sublime assurance in fluctuating grip conditions such as ice and snow as well as on the track. The market launch of the BMW M2 with M xDrive will begin in late summer 2026.

Superior traction and further enhanced dynamics thanks to M xDrive and Active M Differential.

The M xDrive all-wheel-drive system employs an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch in the transfer case to ensure fully variable and super-smooth division of the engine’s power between the front and rear wheels of the new BMW M2 with M xDrive. The system’s rear-wheel bias fits the familiar M blueprint. In normal driving, power is sent exclusively to the rear wheels. Only when they cannot feed any more power to the road does the all-wheel-drive system bring the front wheels into play.

M xDrive links up with the Active M Differential including M-specific traction control and DSC (Dynamic Stability Control). Together, they adapt the car’s responses precisely to the situation in order to deliver a driving experience of unsurpassed dynamism with a noticeable increase in directional stability and traction.

The transfer case features a model-specific control unit and integrated wheel slip limitation. This allows it to compensate for any differences in rotational speed between the front and rear wheels. It can do this without having to involve the central DSC management, which makes the process extremely quick and further intensifies the M-typical sense of unshakable poise in highly dynamic driving situations.  

The M xDrive system’s responses can be configured via the M Setup menu. This means the driver can adapt the characteristics and performance attributes of the all-wheel drive system to both the driving situation at hand and their personal preferences. One of the options the driver can select is 2WD mode with DSC deactivated, whereby torque is sent to the rear wheels only. This unlocks a driving experience of remarkable purity.

A development with roots in racing car design: pre-chamber combustion.

The 3.0-litre straight-six engine powering the new BMW M2 with M xDrive uses BMW M Ignite technology – a new pre-chamber combustion process patented by BMW. This innovation is an example of the successful transfer of technology from racing cars to production models and will be introduced into all straight-six engines from BMW M as of mid-2026. The pre-chamber combustion process significantly reduces fuel consumption under high loads. At the same time, this new engine technology helps to meet the requirements of the EU7 standard. As before, the engine in the BMW M2 with M xDrive offers the performance characteristics for which M models are renowned, such as instantaneous response and linear power development into the higher reaches of the rev range. And this spirited power delivery is accompanied by an emotionally stirring soundtrack. The lower fuel consumption under high loads brought about by BMW M Ignite technology will be particularly appreciated by customers who like to use their car on track days, allowing them to keep lapping for longer with the same amount of fuel.

The BMW M2 with M xDrive is fitted as standard with an M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic, which ensures the engine’s power is harnessed to maximum dynamic effect. Standard-fit M light-alloy wheels (19-inch at the front axle, 20-inch at the rear) transfer the power onto the road surface. Track tyres can be specified as an option.

Optimum stopping power on road and track is provided by M Compound brakes with six-piston fixed callipers at the front and single-piston callipers at the rear.

The combination of the M xDrive all-wheel-drive system and Active M Differential gives the new BMW M2 with M xDrive further improved sprinting power. Indeed, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.7 seconds, 0.3 seconds faster than its sister model with pure rear-wheel drive. The figure recorded using the “one-foot rollout” method¹ is 3.4 seconds. The BMW M2 with M xDrive reaches the 200 km/h (124 mph) mark from rest in 12.8 seconds – or 12.5 seconds with the “one-foot rollout” method. The sprint from 80 to 120 km/h (50 to 75 mph) is covered in 3.7 seconds. The M2 with M xDrive has a limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph), rising to 285 km/h (177 mph) if the optional M Driver’s Package is specified.

BMW Individual Borusan Turkish Blue is available for a BMW M2 model for the first time.

The selection of exterior colours customers can choose from includes five metallic and three solid variants, plus six options from the BMW Individual range. For example, the BMW Individual Borusan Turkish Blue special paint finish will be available for a M2 for the first time, accentuating the visually expressive exterior design of the BMW M2 with M xDrive to particularly striking effect. 

The BMW M2: a successful model, built in Mexico.

The BMW M2 Coupé (fuel consumption, combined: 10.2 – 9.7 l/100 km [27.7 – 29.1 mpg imp], CO₂ emissions, combined: 230 – 221 g/km according to WLTP, CO₂ class: G)* was the biggest-selling high-performance model from BMW M GmbH in 2025. The new BMW M2 with M xDrive – like the other M2 models – will be built at BMW Group Plant San Luis Potosí in Mexico. Production will begin in August 2026. The most important sales markets for the BMW M2 with M xDrive are the USA, Germany and China.

Munich. With BMW M Ignite technology, a new engine technology patented by BMW in 2024 is set to enter series production. This new kind of pre-chamber ignition system for petrol engines will debut in the six-cylinder in-line units for the BMW M2, BMW M3 and BMW M4 from mid-2026. One of its standout benefits is a significant reduction in fuel consumption under high loads – during track use, in particular. This new engine innovation has its roots in motor sport, making it another example of the transfer of technology from the race track to the road. And it also plays a major role in meeting the stringent requirements of the Euro 7 standard.

The centrepiece of BMW M Ignite technology is the pre-chamber positioned within the cylinder head. It is connected with the cylinder’s main combustion chamber by overflow openings. The pre-chamber has its own spark plug and ignition coil, meaning the engine has two ignition systems.

At low and medium revs, the conventional spark plug in the main combustion chamber fires before the spark plug in the pre-chamber. But when the engine is operating under higher revs and loads, the pre-chamber ignition takes over the lead role, with part of the fuel-air mixture channelled through the openings into the pre-chamber also ignited there. The flames generated as a result exit the pre-chamber at around the speed of sound.

These ignition jets then ignite the mixture in the main combustion chamber above the piston at multiple points at the same time. The result is a significantly higher combustion speed. Meanwhile, the possible cause of uncontrolled combustion – i.e. “knocking” – is also countered effectively. An additional effect of this technology is a drop in the temperature of the exhaust gas.

Other new technical features alongside the pre-chamber ignition include a higher compression ratio and turbochargers with variable turbine geometry.

BMW M Ignite technology boosts the efficiency of the six-cylinder in-line engines dramatically, especially when the engine is being pushed to its limits. Under high loads, fuel consumption drops substantially. This is particularly beneficial for BMW M customers who drive their cars on race circuits – e.g. during track days: the fuel consumption reduction enabled by BMW M Ignite technology means they can keep lapping for longer on the same amount of fuel.

As well as these efficiency gains, BMW M Ignite technology also helps to meet the new European Euro 7 standard, which will come into force in November 2026. In this way, BMW M is ensuring the high-performance cars fitted with this technology will continue to meet European registration requirements in the future. The new engines therefore represent another instance of technology from racing cars making its way into series-production models.

All variants of the BMW M3 and BMW M4 will come with BMW M Ignite technology from July 2026. Production of the BMW M2 featuring this technology will get underway in August 2026. The displacement and power outputs of all the models with BMW M Ignite technology will be unchanged from those of the corresponding outgoing engines.

Munich. BMW M GmbH once again achieved outstanding sales growth in 2025. For no less than the 14th time in a row, the manufacturer of high-performance and performance vehicles reported record sales. And for the 7th time running, BMW M GmbH vehicles outsold their competitors by a considerable margin. A sales total of 213,457 vehicles surpassed the previous year’s excellent result (206,582 vehicles) by three per cent. Both the high-performance and performance models set new benchmarks. Keys to success in all markets are a state-of-the-art model range spanning many vehicle classes and an extensive portfolio of powertrain options. In 2025, nearly every tenth BMW sold was a BMW M model. This share of 9.8 per cent represents another milestone.

“Our 14th consecutive sales record validates our strategy. We will continue to offer performance and high-performance vehicles across the entire BMW model range. With fully electric, partly electric and all-ICE powertrains,” says Franciscus van Meel, CEO of BMW M GmbH.

High-performance executive models drive growth.
The high-performance models from BMW M GmbH combine racetrack capabilities with unrestricted everyday usability. BMW M5 models became key growth drivers in 2025. The BMW M5 Sedan (energy consumption, weighted, combined: 17.6–17.2 kWh/100 km and 5.0–4.8 l/100 km (WLTP); CO₂ emissions, weighted, combined: 114–108 g/km (WLTP); CO₂ classes: with discharged battery G, weighted, combined C; fuel consumption with discharged battery: 10.7–10.5 l/100 km (WLTP))*^,1 and the BMW M5 Touring (energy consumption, weighted, combined: 18.1–17.6 kWh/100 km and 5.3–5.0 l/100 km (WLTP); CO₂ emissions, weighted, combined: 119–114 g/km (WLTP); CO₂ classes: with discharged battery G, weighted, combined D–C; fuel consumption with discharged battery: 10.9–10.7 l/100 km (WLTP))*^,1 saw enormous sales increases in their first full year on the markets, making them key contributors to the success of BMW M GmbH. Both vehicles offer a model-specific version of the M HYBRID system with a peak output of 535 kW/727 hp and a maximum system torque of 1,000 Nm. A high-revving V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology and an electric motor combine with an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission to provide power to the M xDrive all-wheel drive system. The great appeal of the BMW M5 Touring was underscored by a “Golden Steering Wheel” award. This accolade is awarded by “Auto Bild” and “Bild am Sonntag”, both published by the German Axel Springer SE publishing house. The high-performance model achieved the highest points score of all finalists in the competition. Moreover, the distinguished jury rated the BMW M5 Touring ahead of the other class finalists in all driving disciplines, as well as in terms of efficiency and value for money.

This delivers 390 kW/530 hp of power and recently set a new record time of 7:25.5 minutes on the Nürburgring.

Favourite among performance enthusiasts: the BMW M3 family.
The BMW M3 models are another family of high-performance best-sellers. The series impresses with perfectly tailored model variants and includes sedans with various output levels. The BMW M3 entry-level model is a particularly purist vehicle that comes with a six-speed manual transmission and 353 kW/480 hp of power (fuel consumption, combined: 10.1 l/100 km; CO₂ emissions, combined: 230–229 g/km (WLTP), CO₂ class: G)*. Then there are the extremely popular Touring variants. 2025 also saw the launch of the BMW M3 CS Touring (fuel consumption, combined: 10.5 l/100 km; CO₂ emissions, combined: 238 g/km (WLTP), CO₂ class: G)*, the most sporting exemplar with 405 kW/551 hp. The large number of BMW M3 family sales is a clear sign of the model series’ continued allure and represents a major contribution to the new record of almost 71,500 high-performance vehicles sold.

M Performance model is BMW M GmbH best-seller.
A particularly popular model and also the best-selling BMW M GmbH vehicle of 2025 was the BMW X3 M50 (fuel consumption, combined: 8.3 l/100 km; CO₂ emissions, combined: 189 g/km (WLTP); CO₂ class: G)*. The top athlete in the premium mid-size SAV segment offers unique performance capabilities and a charismatic appearance. The M TwinPower Turbo engine, combined with 48-volt mild hybrid technology, delivers a maximum system output of 293 kW/398 hp. The power of the BMW X3 M50 is complemented by specific chassis technology and signature M design elements. With these attributes, it overtook the BMW i4 and its M60 Gran Coupé xDrive variant (energy consumption, combined (WLTP): 20.9 kWh/100 km; CO₂ emissions, combined (WLTP): 0 g/km, CO₂ class: A)*, which delivers an output of 442 kW/601 hp and a range of up to 551 km. The electric BMW i4 range-topper was the best-selling BMW M GmbH model from 2022 to 2024. 

In 2025, nearly every tenth BMW sold was a BMW M model, and the sales share of 9.8 per cent (9.4 per cent in the year prior) represents another new record. BMW M vehicles are especially popular in Switzerland, where nearly every fourth BMW ordered is a BMW M model. 

Exceptional sales total, top spots in the individual markets.
In the key markets, BMW M GmbH vehicles led the field, beating their competitors by a considerable margin. The models were particularly coveted in the U.S., the largest single market at over 72,000 units sold. But BMW M models also achieved top positions in markets such as Canada, Germany, Korea, South Africa and the United Kingdom. In China, BMW M GmbH achieved its largest absolute sales increase.

Focused model strategy to secure and expand top position.
The state-of-the-art model portfolio with its comprehensive range of ICE, plug-in hybrid and all-electric vehicles is at the heart of BMW M GmbH success. The development of models based on the Neue Klasse will provide further momentum. “Our strategy of being open towards new technologies once again paid off in 2025. BMW M GmbH stands for optimal performance, independently of the powertrain type. In all markets and across all vehicle classes. Customers looking for a performance or high-performance vehicle will always find it at BMW M GmbH”, says Sylvia Neubauer, Vice President Customer, Brand, Sales at BMW M GmbH.

Motorsport remains a key pillar at BMW M GmbH.
The BMW M Motorsport race cars – the BMW M Hybrid V8, the BMW M4 GT3 EVO and the BMW M4 GT4 EVO – achieved a total of more than 180 victories in 2025. In works motorsport, the BMW M Hybrid V8 delivered a competitive performance in the first half of the FIA WEC season and the BMW M GmbH marks 14th consecutive record year. The best result of a season marked by highs and lows was the 1-2 finish at Road America. The BMW M4 GT3 EVO had a tremendous season. While the 1-2 victory at the Bathurst 12 Hour race in Australia was still won by the predecessor model, the EVO version seamlessly continued the series with top results. Triumphs at the Nürburgring 24 Hours (Germany), the Suzuka 1000 (Japan), the Indianapolis 8 Hour race and in the GTD Pro Class at the 6 Hours of the Glen and the Petit Le Mans (both U.S.) are among the highlights of a season that saw over 80 victories and 100 further podium finishes.

Teams driving the BMW M4 GT4 EVO achieved over 100 victories in the 2025 season. More than any other model, the BMW M4 GT4 is associated with customer racing. The victory in the SP10 at the Nürburgring 24 Hours was a particular high point. In the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie (NLS) racing series, these vehicles came out on top in nine out of ten races. Moreover, the BMW M4 GT4 EVO triumphed in all classes at the GT4 America. The strong results of the GT4 teams helped BMW M Motorsport secure the SRO manufacturers’ title in the GT4 segment. The 2026 season will see the debut of the BMW M2 Racing as a new entry-level vehicle complementing the model portfolio for customer racing.

Valencia. The winner of the 2025 BMW M Award in MotoGP™ is Marc Márquez. The record holder in this special competition has once again claimed the coveted prize for the fastest qualifier of the season – for the eighth time. The Spaniard had already made history by winning the BMW M Award seven years in a row between 2013 and 2019. Now Márquez has returned to the top. His prize this year is the new BMW M2 CS (combined fuel consumption: 10.0 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 226 g/km according to WLTP, CO₂ class: G)*. The presentation of the winner’s car took place on Saturday after the final qualifying session of the season at Valencia, Spain, where Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of MotoGP™ rights holder Dorna Sports, and Axel Mittler, Marketing Manager at BMW M GmbH, handed over the keys.

After several challenging years, Márquez made an impressive comeback in 2025. He dominated the season and clinched the world championship title early, already in Japan at the 17th of 22 rounds. In the BMW M Award standings, Márquez collected so many points – with eight pole positions and five additional front-row starts – that he could no longer be caught, even though he missed the final four rounds of the season due to injury. Márquez won the 2025 BMW M Award with 351 points, finishing eight points ahead of his brother Álex Márquez in second place. As in the races, MotoGP™ riders receive points for the BMW M Award according to their qualifying positions. The winner at the end of the season is awarded an exclusive high-performance automobile from BMW M. This coveted award has been presented every year since 2003.

Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of Dorna Sports, said: “Congratulations to Marc Márquez. He has made an impressive comeback this season and once again demonstrated why he is one of the greatest MotoGP riders of all time. Now it’s time for the winter break, and my goal for 2026 is clear: to win the world championship, and this award, again!”

The 2025 winner’s car, the BMW M2 CS, is the latest exclusive special model from BMW M GmbH in the premium compact high-performance sports car segment. It impresses with outstanding agility, significantly increased performance, exceptional driving dynamics, and particularly sporty design features. The straight-six engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology and high-revving characteristics delivers an impressive 390 kW/530 hp. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via the standard 8-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic. The BMW M2 CS accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds. Thanks to the extensive use of carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) components in both the exterior and interior, the BMW M2 CS is also the lightest M2 of the current generation.

As part of its extensive activities as the “Official Car of MotoGP™”, BMW M GmbH presents the BMW M Award at the end of each season to the best qualifier. Before Márquez extended his record in 2025 with his eighth victory, Francesco Bagnaia had won the coveted award for the past three years. The list of winners since the award’s introduction in 2003 also includes Valentino Rossi, Casey Stoner, Jorge Lorenzo, Fabio Quartararo, Sete Gibernau and Nicky Hayden.

The new BMW M2 CS (fuel consumption combined: 10.0 l/100 km; CO2 emissions combined: 226 g/km according to WLTP, CO2 class G)* sets a new benchmark on the legendary Nordschleife racetrack of the Nürburgring on 11 April 2025. Driven by BMW M development engineer Jörg Weidinger, it completed the 20.823-kilometre Nürburgring-Nordschleife circuit in 7:25.5 minutes, beating the previous best time for compact cars by eight seconds. This record-setting BMW M2 CS not only raises the bar in the compact car class, but also further solidifies BMW M's reputation as a manufacturer of high-performance vehicles that excel both on the road and on the racetrack.

"The BMW M2 CS has achieved a significant milestone with its lap time of 7:25.5 minutes on the Nordschleife, showcasing the potential for combining performance, technology and exceptional driving dynamics into a single vehicle," stated Franciscus van Meel, the Managing Director of BMW M GmbH. The continuation of a success story.

The previous best time for a BMW M2 model was set by Weidinger in April 2023, when he completed the course in 7:38.7 minutes. Two years later, he beat this time by 13 seconds, breaking the class record of 7:30 minutes for the first time. With the newly set best time of 7:25.5 minutes, the BMW M2 CS demonstrates its outstanding performance as well as the innovative power and engineering skills of BMW M GmbH.

Previous record runs on the Nordschleife by the BMW M4 CS, the BMW M4 CSL and the BMW M3 CS, all mid-range vehicles, achieved times under 7:30 minutes. The BMW M4 CSL also holds the best lap time ever recorded for a BMW Group production car. The official, notarised time is 7:18.137 minutes.

The "Green Hell" myth: The Nordschleife as a touchstone.

Often referred to as the 'Green Hell', the Nordschleife racetrack is considered one of the most demanding and challenging racetracks in the world. Measuring 20.832 kilometres in length with over 70 bends, it places the highest demands on drivers and vehicles alike. A fast lap on this track proves a vehicle's performance and handling capabilities. The Nordschleife lap times are the gold standard for measuring a vehicle's sporting performance and driving dynamics. Record runs are monitored by a neutral testing organisation, and the vehicles are checked to ensure they are in standard condition. This detailed inspection ensures that the record runs are carried out using production vehicles.

The Nürburgring - Home of BMW M.

BMW M and the Nürburgring have been in partnership for over a quarter of a century. From the BMW M Power Grandstand and BMW M Bridge to the BMW M Driving Experience and BMW M Test Centre, not to mention test drives on the Nordschleife for M vehicles en route to series production, the partnership between BMW M and the Nürburgring has been a resounding success for over 25 years. The Nordschleife serves as a test bench for every M model. The new BMW M2 CS is a testament to BMW M GmbH's ongoing commitment to setting the standard in the compact high-performance sports car segment. Its combination of performance, lightweight construction and innovative technology makes the BMW M2 CS a vehicle that gets drivers and enthusiasts' hearts racing. The BMW M2 CS increases driving pleasure in the premium segment with its enhanced performance and outstanding agility. The advanced six-cylinder in-line engine featuring BMW M TwinPower Turbo technology delivers an impressive output of 390 kW/530 hp and a maximum torque of 650 Nm. Model-specific engine mounts, an adaptive M suspension and an M compound brake system all contribute to its sporty performance. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via an 8-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic. The new version of this special edition offers the ultimate in driving pleasure – both as a track tool and in day-to-day use. Like the BMW M2 Racing, which is based on the chassis from the latest-generation M2, the BMW M2 CS will be manufactured at BMW Group Plant San Luis Potosí in Mexico. As has become familiar with other special-edition models from BMW M GmbH, the BMW M2 CS will be produced in limited numbers. The key sales markets are the USA, Germany and China. The market launch will begin in late summer 2025. The BMW M2 CS will be priced at € 115,000 in Germany.

The new BMW M2 CS is based on the second generation of the BMW M2 (fuel consumption, combined: 9.8 l/100 km [28.8 mpg imp]; CO₂ emissions, combined: 223 g/km in the WLTP cycle, CO₂ class: G) and significantly improves what is already an extraordinary level of performance. For example, the high-revving six-cylinder in-line engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology develops an impressive 390 kW/530 hp in the BMW M2 CS. That is 37 kW/50 hp more than in the current BMW M2. As such, the BMW M2 CS matches the performance of the BMW M3 Competition Sedan with M xDrive (fuel consumption, combined: 10.2 l/100 km [27.7 mpg imp]; CO₂ emissions, combined: 230 g/km in the WLTP cycle, CO₂ class: G) and the BMW M4 Competition Coupé with M xDrive (fuel consumption, combined: 10.1 l/100 km [28.0 mpg imp]; CO₂ emissions, combined: 229 g/km in the WLTP cycle, CO₂ class: G). The BMW M2 CS sends its power to the rear wheels via the eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic, which comes as standard.

Noticeable weight reduction thanks to intelligent lightweight design

BMW M GmbH has reduced the weight of the special edition by roughly 30 kilograms compared to the standard M2. This has been achieved through modifications including judicious use of lightweight design techniques. For example, the BMW M2 CS features a multitude of exterior and interior components made from carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP). And it will be fitted as standard with forged M light-alloy wheels. As a result, the CS will be the lightest BMW M2 so far in the current generation.

Upgraded six-cylinder in-line engine with significant increase in power output and torque

For the BMW M2 CS, BMW M GmbH has opted for an upgraded version of the 3.0-litre, six-cylinder in-line engine found in the standard M2. This intensifies the performance experience in the special edition, particularly in highly dynamic driving situations. It further sharpens the engine’s unmistakable power characteristics and perfectly accentuates the linear power delivery – sustained into the higher reaches of the rev range – familiar from M models. Compared to the BMW M2 with standard eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic, maximum torque has been raised by 50 Nm (37 lb-ft) to 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) and is available across a broad rev range – between 2,650 and 5,730 rpm. The engine produces its maximum power output of 390 kW/530 hp at 6,250 rpm, with the engine speed topping out at 7,200 rpm. In order to allow extremely rapid reactions to the driver’s requests for acceleration and to make the improved performance characteristics of the engine a particularly intense experience, the accelerator mapping and response have been optimised in all the drive modes, which are selectable via the M Setup menu.

Racing expertise delivers inspiring performance

With its improved peak performance, the new BMW M2 CS is consolidating its claim to top spot in the compact high-performance segment. This performance specification is achieved by modifying the engine management and provides further proof of the outstanding potential of the six-cylinder in-line engine developed by BMW M GmbH, which also serves as the basis for the power unit used in the BMW M4 GT3 EVO racing car. The engine’s M TwinPower Turbo technology comprises a pair of mono-scroll turbochargers, which each supply three cylinders with compressed air, an indirect intercooler supplied by a low-temperature circuit, and an electronically controlled wastegate. The technology package also includes High Precision Injection, which operates with maximum pressure of 350 bar, VALVETRONIC variable valve timing and Double-VANOS fully variable camshaft timing. The engine also has an array of details borrowed directly from racing car design, including its lightning-fast response, appetite for revs and high-performance capability in track use. These details include an extremely rigid crankcase with a sleeve-free, closed-deck construction, a forged crankshaft with lightweight design, cylinder bores with a wire-arc sprayed iron coating and a 3D-printed core for the cylinder head.

The M-specific cooling system ensures the powertrain components maintain an optimal operating temperature even under heavy loads and the oil circuit is designed to handle extreme dynamic driving situations. A map-controlled oil pump ensures reliable oil supply even under extreme acceleration.

The engine sends its drive power through an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic as standard. The Drivelogic button integrated into the selector lever makes it possible to alter the transmission’s shift characteristics, with a choice of three clearly distinguishable settings. Both the selector lever in the latest M design and the gearshift paddles on the steering wheel enable sequential interventions in the gear selection process at any time.

BMW M2 CS breaks the four-second barrier

A model-specific engine mounting with a higher spring rate makes for a particularly rigid connection of the drive unit to the structure of the BMW M2 CS. The extremely direct transmission of power to the drivetrain optimises response. Thanks to the lightning-fast power delivery, in combination with the increased engine power and the car’s lighter weight, the BMW M2 CS is able to break the four-second barrier for the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph). It’s time of 3.8 seconds is 0.2 seconds faster than for the standard M2. The figure calculated using the “1-foot rollout” method** is 3.5 seconds. The increase in power also enhances acceleration from rest to 200 km/h (124 mph). The time required here is reduced by 1.2 seconds to 11.7 seconds – or 11.4 seconds according to the “1‑foot rollout” method**. The mid-range sprint from 80 to 120 km/h (50 – 75 mph) takes 3.4 seconds. The top speed of the special-edition model, which comes with the M Driver’s Package as standard, is electronically limited to 302 km/h (188 mph). The dynamic power delivery is backed by an emotionally rich engine note conjured by the M-specific exhaust system with electrically controlled flaps and the four exhaust pipes typical of M, which come in matt black on the BMW M2 CS. For those wishing to retrofit their car, the M Performance silencer system with carbon and titanium tailpipe trims developed specifically for CS models is available for the first time in the range of M Performance Parts for the BMW M2 CS. The lightweight valve exhaust system with titanium mufflers generates a racing-car sound guaranteed to stir the emotions. The Active Sound Design helps to convey the engine’s soundtrack authentically inside the cabin, with the intensity raised another notch when SPORT or SPORT PLUS mode is selected using the Driving Experience Control switch.

Chassis and brakes optimised for increased performance

The chassis technology and braking system in the BMW M2 CS are precisely tailored to the improved performance characteristics of the engine and the specific weight balance of the special edition. The chassis has been lowered by eight millimetres and adapted specially for the car with bespoke tuning for its springs, dampers and chassis control systems. These modifications improve driving dynamics significantly in all scenarios – including under extremely hard driving. Indeed, the settings for the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) and M Dynamic Mode have been optimised precisely to meet the demands of driving on the race track. The standard adaptive M chassis has been given a carefully adapted model-specific setup, as have the M Servotronic steering, M Sport differential and the integrated braking system. An M Compound braking system with red brake callipers, which comes as standard, provides powerful retardation. An M Carbon ceramic brake system with red brake callipers is available as an option. Standard equipment also includes CS-exclusive forged M light-alloy wheels with a double-spoke design and matt Gold Bronze finish. They measure 19 inches at the front and 20 inches at the rear axle and are fitted as standard with track tyres, the dimensions of which are 275/35 ZR19 at the front and 285/30 ZR20 at the rear. An ultra-track tyre and a standard sport tyre (a no-cost option) in the same dimensions are available on request.

Exterior features many carbon components and exclusive details

The punchy exterior of the BMW M2 CS is shaped by many components made of carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) and other exclusive details. As well as the M exterior mirror caps familiar from the BMW M2, the M Carbon roof – which comes as standard on the special-edition model – and CS-specific rear diffusor are also made from eye-catching exposed carbon fibre. A front splitter in matt black and an exclusive black BMW M kidney grille with optimised air inlets complete the sporty and dynamic look. The lightweight CFRP boot lid with integrated ducktail is a real head-turner. The “M2 CS” logo on the rear has a red outline. Four colours are available for the exterior finish of the new BMW M2 CS: Sapphire Black metallic, BMW Individual Velvet Blue metallic, M Brooklyn Grey metallic and M Portimao Blue metallic. Adaptive LED Headlights with BMW Selective Beam non-dazzling High Beam Assistant and M lights Shadowline with dark inlays are also standard.

Carbon and racing flair continue inside

The interior of the new BMW M2 CS combines an exclusive look with the sporty feel of exquisite Alcantara and innovative lightweight design. For example, the centre console is made of carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP). The driver and passenger take their places in weight-optimised, heated M Carbon bucket seats with a wide range of electrically controlled settings and an illuminated “CS” logo. The integrated head restraints are removable and, thanks to the option of integrating multi-point harnesses, improve the car’s track readiness. The surfaces of the seats are finished in Merino leather.

With a flat-bottomed rim, gearshift paddles, a red centre marker at 12 o’clock and two M buttons for selecting individually configured vehicle setups, the standard M Alcantara steering wheel – which is available in a heated version as an option and features a three-spoke design – brings authentic racing flair to the cockpit. The trim elements in the instrument panel and centre console come in M Carbon Fibre. Additional specific details include the red “CS” logo on the centre console, the M seatbelts and the entry door sill plates, which are black with an “M2 CS” logo and red outline for the first time. Now illuminated with the “CS” logo, the door trim panels certainly grab the attention. The colour used here can be set individually, likewise the standard ambient lighting. When switched off, a carbon structure is visible. Rounding off the sporty interior is the M Anthracite headlining.

BMW Operating System 8.5, digital control for the climate functions

Standard equipment in the new BMW M2 CS also includes two-zone automatic climate control, comfort access, the Harman Kardon Surround Sound System and BMW Live Cockpit Professional, including the BMW Maps navigation system. As well as the BMW Head-Up Display, it also includes Augmented View on the control display. The standard smartphone integration allows the use of Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™. The M-specific displays on the BMW Curved Display and BMW Head-Up Display add to the progressive sports car flair in the cockpit. The fully-digital display grouping consists of a 12.3-inch information display and a 14.9-inch control display. These serve as a platform for the BMW iDrive control and operation system, based on BMW Operating System 8.5, which can also be used to digitally operate the climate control functions. In the BMW M2 CS, temperature and ventilation settings, heated seats and the heated steering wheel (if specified) can be controlled either by touch using a special menu option in the lower area of the control display or by voice command with the help of the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant.

M-specific operating concept enables direct access for an extensive range of functions

The special-edition model carries over the cutting-edge operating concept for setup customisation from the BMW M2. At the heart is the Setup button on the centre console. This provides direct access to the settings options for the engine, standard adaptive M suspension, M Servotronic steering, integrated braking system working in conjunction with the M Compound brakes, and the M Traction Control function, which allows drivers to set individual intervention thresholds for wheel slip limitation. M Drive Professional makes an ideal companion for journeys fuelled by extra adrenaline. The M mode TRACK and the ten-stage M Traction Control allow customised handling characteristics. The M Drift Analyser shows the angle and duration of drifts executed by the driver, while the M Laptimer is ideal for those striving for the perfect lap.

Semi-automated driving and parking systems fitted as standard include front collision warning, Cruise Control with brake function, Speed Limit Info function with no-overtaking indicator, Lane Departure Warning, and the Parking Assistant with Reversing Assistant. Active Cruise Control with Stop&Go function and the Driving Assistant can be added as optional equipment.

The new BMW M2 lines up with even more power, greater visual impact than ever and innovative equipment features. Front and centre of this fresh round of updates to the car is the 15 kW/20 hp added to its output: the high-revving six-cylinder in-line petrol engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology now tops out at 353 kW/480 hp. The package of updates for the elite compact sports car makes the first step into the world of high-performance models at BMW M GmbH even more attractive. The new BMW M2 will be built alongside the new BMW 2 Series Coupé at BMW Group Plant San Luis Potosí in Mexico. It will be launched worldwide with a production phase-in from August 2024. The engine produces its increased maximum output of 353 kW/480 hp at 6,250 rpm, with revs topping out at 7,200 rpm.

So that drivers can explore the engine’s upgraded performance characteristics with an even greater degree of intensity, further advances have been made with the accelerator mapping and response in all the drive modes selectable via the M Setup menu. As a result, the new BMW M2 offers noticeably more rapid reactions to the driver’s requests for acceleration – both when specified with the eight-speed M Steptronic transmission and with the optional six-speed manual gearbox.

Whichever form of power transfer the customer chooses for their BMW M2, the increased engine output shaves 0.1 seconds off its 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration time: the new BMW M2 records a figure of 4.0 seconds with the standard transmission or 4.2 seconds if specified with the optional six-speed manual gearbox. The increase in power also makes its presence felt over the 0 to 200 km/h (124 mph) sprint, delivering an improvement of 0.6 seconds in the case of the BMW M2 with eight-speed M Steptronic transmission (now 12.9 seconds) and also lowering the time posted by cars with the optional manual gearbox by 0.6 seconds (to 13.7 seconds). Top speed is 250 km/h (155 mph), but can be increased to 285 km/h (177 mph) with the optional M Driver’s Package. The dynamic power delivery is backed by an emotionally rich engine note conjured by the M-specific exhaust system with electrically controlled flaps.

Visually impactful exterior design with fresh accents.

Powerfully chiselled surfaces and athletic proportions mark out the pure-bred performance character of the new BMW M2, whose compact dimensions and wide tracks showcase it to visually dramatic effect.
M-specific design features geared to the functional requirements of cooling air routing and aerodynamic balance accentuate the eye-catching appearance of the two-door car. A large, horizontal BMW kidney grille and the three-section split lower air intake optimise cooling of the powertrain components and brakes.

The model-specific LED headlights are positioned towards the outer edges of the front end. In a tribute to the iconic BMW 02 models, they each have a single circular headlight that generates both low beam and high beam. U-shaped light guides at the lower edge of the headlights serve as both the daytime driving lights and turn indicators. Available as options are Adaptive LED Headlights with BMW Selective Beam non-dazzling High Beam Assistant and M lights Shadowline with dark inlays.

The high-performance model’s profile is shaped by the elegant lines which have become a signature feature of the brand’s coupés. In combination with prominent side sill extensions and muscular wheel arches, this creates a compact two-door form with a richly sporting character. The new BMW M2 can also be ordered as an option with an M Carbon roof that not only reduces the car’s weight by around six kilograms, but also increases agility by lowering its centre of gravity.

The rear apron of the new BMW M2 features a powerfully sculpted race-car-style diffuser. The exhaust system feeds into two pairs of exhaust tailpipes, which are positioned a significant distance from the edges of the rear end and also channel the racing genes of the M2 visually. The trims for the twin tailpipes are now finished in black as standard. The likewise black model lettering on the boot lid and radiator grille creates a particularly classy impression with its silver-coloured bordering.

Significantly expanded range of exterior paint finishes; light-alloy wheels with a new design.

Customers can order their new BMW M2 in a choice of three solid colours, five metallic shades and six BMW Individual paint finishes. The significantly expanded range includes the new Sao Paulo Yellow solid, Fire Red metallic, Portimao Blue metallic and Skyscraper Grey metallic variants. Plus, the selection of BMW Individual paint finishes for the new BMW M2 now also features Java Green, Voodoo Blue, Grigio Telesto and Twilight Purple.

The new BMW M2 is fitted as standard with M light-alloy wheels in double-spoke design and with a Jet Black finish. Dimensions are 19 inches at the front axle and 20 inches at the rear axle. A new addition to the options list are M light-alloy wheels in double-spoke design and with the same dimensions, but finished in the colour Silver. They can be combined with track tyres if the optional M Race Track package is specified.

New steering wheels and seat surfaces, M Carbon bucket seats now also available as an individual option.

The most important interface between the driver and car – the steering wheel – has been newly designed, bringing a fresh look to the interior of the compact high-performance model. The standard-fitted M leather steering wheel of the new BMW M2 now has a flat-bottomed rim and precisely modified spokes. A red centre marker in the 12 o’clock position, gearshift paddles and the two M buttons for selecting individually configured vehicle setups project an intense racing car feel. An M Alcantara steering wheel is now also available as an option in the same design. A heating function is offered as an option for both steering wheel variants.

The optional M Sport seats in Vernasca leather can now also be ordered in a red/black bi-colour variant. Added to which, the weight-minimized M Carbon bucket seats for the new BMW M2 are not only available in conjunction with the M Race Track package, but now also as an individual option. With surfaces in Merino leather, multi-way electric adjustment, removable head restraints and a facility for adding a multi-point harness, they optimise both the car’s comfort levels and its racing credentials.

BMW Operating System 8.5, digital control for the climate functions.

The M-specific content in the BMW Curved Display and optional BMW Head-Up Display enhances the cockpit’s progressive sports car aura. The fully digital screen grouping, made up of a 12.3-inch information display and a 14.9-inch control display, now provides the stage for the latest evolution of the BMW iDrive control/operation system based on BMW Operating System 8.5. The functions of the climate control system are now also operated digitally. The temperature and ventilation settings as well as the seat heating and – if specified – steering wheel heating in the new BMW M2 can be controlled either by touch using a special menu option in the lower area of the control display or by voice command with the help of the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant.

This broad adoption of digitalisation leads to a further reduction in the number of buttons and controls in the cockpit and is accompanied by a redesign of the instrument panel. New adjustment controls for the air vent grilles in the centre of the instrument panel and on the driver’s and front passenger side of the cockpit allow the airflow direction to be adjusted using rotating and tilting movements.

The interior trim elements in the instrument panel and centre console of the new BMW M2 come as standard in Dark Graphite matt. Interior trim elements in Aluminium Rhombicle Anthracite, M Carbon Fibre or new Fine Brushed Aluminium are available as an option.

The Gear Shift Assistant of the optional manual gearbox is also activated and deactivated via the M Setup menu.

Standard equipment for the new BMW M2 also includes three-zone automatic climate control, ambient lighting, a HiFi speaker system, a wireless charging tray and the BMW Live Cockpit Plus with BMW Maps navigation system. The likewise standard smartphone integration enables use of Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™. Semi-automated driving and parking systems that come as standard include front collision warning, Cruise Control with brake function, Speed Limit Info function with no-overtaking indicator, Lane Departure Warning and Park Distance Control with sensors at the front and rear of the car. Among the optional items available are the Driving Assistant, Active Cruise Control with Stop&Go function and the Parking Assistant with Reversing Assistant.

Also on the options list are Comfort Access, an electrically operated slide/tilt sunroof and the Harman Kardon Surround Sound System. As well as the BMW Head-Up Display, the optional BMW Live Cockpit Professional in the new BMW M2 now also includes Augmented View on the control display.

Munich. The retrofit products from the BMW M Performance Parts program not only enhance numerous current BMW models but also provide an additional touch of motorsport feeling to the high-performance sports cars of the BMW M GmbH. Among the particularly notable examples of technology transferred directly from the racetrack to the road are the centrelock wheels, available for selected high-performance automobiles. Design and functionality make these lightweight forged wheels absolute highlights in the diverse range of BMW M Performance Parts.

With their optimized weight, emotionally charged design, and technology adapted from motorsport connecting to the wheel bearing, the centrelock wheels emphasize the high-performance-oriented character of the vehicles equipped with them. In the case of the special edition BMW 3.0 CSL, presented on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of BMW M GmbH and sold in a limited edition of 50 units, they are part of the specifically tuned racetrack performance chassis technology. Currently, BMW M Performance centrelock wheels are offered in the Original BMW Accessories program for the BMW M2 (combined fuel consumption: 9.9 – 9.6 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 223 – 218 g/km according to WLTP), the BMW M3 Touring Competition with M xDrive (combined fuel consumption: 10.4 – 10.1 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 235 – 229 g/km according to WLTP), as well as for all model variants of the BMW M3 Sedan, BMW M4 Coupe, and BMW M4 Convertible.

BMW M Performance centrelock wheel: Wheel change like the pros.

Centrelock wheels were developed for motorsport, where they enable particularly fast wheel changes and, consequently, short pit stops. Instead of the usual five screws, each wheel is attached to the wheel hub with only one central screw. An extremely solid connection is ensured during the installation of the central locks by applying a torque of 930 Nm. This technology not only makes pure racetrack DNA tangible during wheel changes but also reduces rotating masses and optimizes the exclusive appearance through a distinctive design in the hub area.

The M Performance centrelock wheels for the models of the BMW M2, BMW M3, and BMW M4 are offered as a combined set in sizes 19 inches for the front axle and 20 inches for the rear axle. The lightweight forged wheels in Y-spoke design, in Jet Black matte color, feature a milled M Performance lettering and come equipped with tires in dimensions 275/35 ZR19 for the front and 285/30 ZR20 for the rear.

Individual motorsport characteristics for exterior and interior.

Like the centrelock wheels, other products from the BMW M Performance Parts program are based on the development know-how and more than five decades of motorsport experience of the BMW M GmbH. The diverse range includes retrofit options in the areas of suspension, drivetrain, aerodynamics, and cockpit, enabling a performance-oriented customization and providing a racetrack feeling in everyday traffic. For a targeted boost in dynamics and agility, options such as the M Performance suspension with height-adjustable spring perches and the M Performance sport brake system are available.

Additionally, the athletic appearance of a BMW M car can be enhanced with model-specific carbon components. The BMW M Performance Parts for the exterior are mostly made of carbon fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP), sealed with clear lacquer for a high-quality finish. Model-specific options such as the M Performance front attachment carbon, the M Performance rear diffuser, or the M Performance side sill insert carbon give the vehicle a characterful appearance in a racing-style.

The uncompromising quality and special aesthetics of the BMW M Performance Parts are also experienced in the interior. High-quality carbon and Alcantara elements convey the motorsport genes of BMW M into the cockpit. M Performance knee pads with Alcantara surface provide optimized grip during particularly dynamic cornering. And both the M Performance steering wheel Pro and the M Performance armrest Alcantara offer perfect conditions for an especially intense driving experience.

Munich. The Grande Prémio de Portugal from 24th to 26th March at Portimão marks the start of an anniversary season for BMW M, the 25th season as Official Car of MotoGP™. The close partnership with MotoGP™ rights holder Dorna Sports dates back to 1999. The start of the anniversary season in Portugal will see the new BMW M safety car make its debut. The new BMW M2 MotoGP™ safety car is based on the new BMW M2 (combined fuel consumption in accordance with WLTP: 9.8 – 9.6 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions in accordance with WLTP: 222 – 218 g/km; details as per NEFZ: –)*, which made its world premiere in October.

The new BMW M2 impresses with the traditional characteristics of a high-performance sports car – in a concentrated form and with state-of-the-art technology. With its compact dimensions and the 460 hp TwinPower turbo in-line 6-cylinder engine, the new BMW M2 is the perfect basis for a BMW M safety car. The BMW M2 was kitted out with various safety car elements for its deployment on MotoGP™ racetracks. These elements include a roll bar, RECARO seats, 6-point racing harness, a fire extinguisher, the safety car roof bar, and the matching front light. Several M Performance parts, such as exhaust system, chassis, carbon wing mirror covers, diffusor, and rear wing have also been installed. The BMW M2 MotoGP™ safety car will have the standard BMW M safety car livery. In addition to the new BMW M2 MotoGP™ safety car, the safety car fleet of 2023 also includes many other BMW M safety, medical and official cars, as well as BMW M 1000 RR safety bikes.

Munich. At the end of its anniversary year, BMW M GmbH has once again achieved record results. Global sales of performance and high-performance cars rose to 177,257 vehicles during the 2022 financial year. This represents an increase of 8.4 per cent compared to the previous year, despite the continuing challenging conditions in the area of logistics and supply chains. The most important single market in 2022 was again the USA, with the second most important sales region again being the German domestic market, followed by the UK.

“The enthusiasm of the M community for emotionally powerful performance on the road and on the racetrack has carried us through the entire anniversary year,” says Franciscus van Meel, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW M GmbH. “This is also expressed in a new sales record for BMW M automobiles, which gives us a positive outlook for 2023.”

BMW i4 M50: the best-selling BMW M automobile drives locally emission-free.
At the same time, 2022 marks BMW M GmbH's successful start into the age of electric mobility. “The best-selling BMW M automobile of 2022 is the all-electric BMW i4 M50,” says Timo Resch, Head of Customer, Brand and Sales at BMW M GmbH. “For us, this is a clear signal that the unique M feeling has arrived in the world of electrified vehicles.” The BMW i4 M50 is powered by an electric motor on both the front and rear axles, which together generate a maximum output of 400 kW/544 hp. The perfectly coordinated power delivery of the two e-motors and independent suspension tuning ensure an M-typical driving experience characterised by dynamics, agility and precision, which proved to be a real crowd-puller right from the outset.

With the BMW iX M60*, a second all-electric performance car from BMW M GmbH made a highly successful debut. During the course of 2023, BMW M GmbH will continue its product offensive with, among other things, the first electrified high-performance automobile, the BMW XM, and the BMW i7 M70, a BMW M automobile based on the fully electric BMW i7. The further transformation towards electric mobility has also already been mapped out. In order to be able to include high-performance cars with purely electric drive in the range in the future, BMW M GmbH will intensify the corresponding concept testing in 2023. The focus will be on an integrated driving dynamics control system and an electric M xDrive all-wheel drive system with four electric motors, which will ensure that the emotionally powerful M feeling reaches an even higher level.

Anniversary year with spectacular premieres, BMW M3 and BMW M4 remain on the road to success, fast-paced launch for the new BMW M240i xDrive Coupe*.
The celebrations of the 50th anniversary of BMW M GmbH were accompanied by debuts for numerous spectacular new models. The broad spectrum of new releases ranged from the second generation of the puristic BMW M2*, with its combination of straight six-cylinder engine, 6-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive, which evokes classic driving pleasure in a high-performance automobile, to the extroverted BMW XM with its 480 kW/653 hp M HYBRID drive. The first BMW M3 Touring* also offers completely new ways to experience M-typical performance. This diversity creates ideal conditions for attracting additional target groups and generating further growth in 2023.

The current increase in sales figures is also based on sales successes in a wide range of vehicle segments. The high-performance sports cars of the BMW M3 and BMW M4 series, which – including the new BMW M3 Touring – are available in four body variants, in two performance levels, with a choice of a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed M Steptronic transmission, as well as with rear-wheel drive or the all-wheel drive system M xDrive, continued to enjoy particularly widespread popularity in 2022. BMW M GmbH thus covers a wide range of customer needs in this core segment.

With an exceptionally strong performance within their competitive environment, the high-performance cars based on BMW X models also contributed to BMW M GmbH's new sales record. The upcoming upgrade for the BMW X5 M and BMW X6 M models in spring 2023 will provide effective impetus for a continuation of this success story.

The successful launch of the new BMW M240i xDrive Coupe in 2022 proved to be a highlight in the performance car segment. The new edition of the compact two-door is powered by a 275 kW/374 hp straight-six engine and is now also available with classic rear-wheel drive. “The new sales record for BMW M Automobiles is based on our successful presence in a broad range of vehicle segments,” says Timo Resch. “With our wide-ranging product portfolio, we are also ideally positioned for the future.”

Premiere at Daytona: the new BMW M3 CS* and the BMW M Hybrid V8.
In addition, BMW M GmbH fulfils the desire for particularly concentrated racing characteristics with attractive special models – as early as 2022 with the BMW M4 CSL* and soon with the new BMW M3 CS.

The BMW M3 CS will make its world debut on the last weekend of January as part of the 24-hour race at Daytona. The tradition-steeped competition in the US state of Florida is also the venue for BMW M Motorsport's comeback to endurance racing. The new BMW M Hybrid V8 will compete there for the first time. 47 years after the Daytona overall victory of the legendary BMW 3.0 CSL, the new LMDh prototype is set to race for points in the IMSA GTP class of the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship before also competing in the official FIA World Endurance Championship at Le Mans and elsewhere in 2024.

The final phase of the development process and the subsequent test drives on various race tracks were among the highlights of 2022 for the BMW M GmbH motorsport department, while the all-important success on the race track was the overall victory in the DTM drivers' and teams' championships. South African Sheldon van der Linde and Team Schubert Motorsport secured the title win in the prestigious touring car championship in the very first season with the new BMW M4 GT3.

Kompakten športni avtomobil visoke zmogljivosti z dvoje vrati odlikujejo nadvse privlačna oblika, vrstni šestvaljnik, opcijski ročni šeststopenjski menjalnik in pogon na zadnji kolesni par: 338 kW/460 KM, pospešek (0–100 km/h): 4,1 sekunde; kombinirana poraba goriva: 10,2–9,7 l/100 km; kombinirane emisije CO2: 231–218 g/km po voznem ciklu WLTP.

Novi BMW M2 s svojo prepoznavnostjo sledi tradiciji legendarnega BMW 2002 Turbo in BMW M1 Coupé. Neverjetno okretne vozne lastnosti in izjemna zmogljivost za zadevni segment zaradi vrhunske tehnologije pogonskega sklopa in podvozja, na kateri z nekaj prilagoditvami temeljita tudi BMW M3 in M4. Prvi korak v svet športnih avtomobilov visoke zmogljivosti pri BMW M GmbH je zdaj še privlačnejši. M značilna sinteza intenzivne avre motošporta in neomejene primernosti za vsakodnevna opravila.

Svetovna premiera novega BMW M2 poteka ob praznovanju 50. obletnice oddelka BMW M GmbH. Novi model se bo proizvajal skupaj z BMW serije 2 Coupé v tovarni BMW Group San Luis Potosi v Mehiki. Svetovna prodaja naj bi stekla aprila 2023.

Atletski videz z izjemno močnimi sorazmerji kupeja in prepoznavnimi oblikovnimi potezami najmočnejše črke na svetu – M. Dolžina in širina vozila ter širina njegove kolotečine so se v primerjavi s predhodnikom opazno povečale, medtem ko je novinec nekoliko nižji. Novi M2 je 214 milimetrov krajši od modelov BMW M4 Coupé in ima tudi 110 milimetrov krajšo medosno razdaljo.

Izrazna zunanjost in jasno razlikovanje od BMW serije 2 Coupé. Velika ledvička BMW brez okvirja ima vodoravne prečke. Spodnja odprtina za dovod hladnega zraka v M značilni tridelni zasnovi s skoraj pravokotnimi obrisi. Natančno oblikovane površine na bokih in mišičasti blatniki. Močan zadek z vpadljivim spojlerjem na pokrovu prtljažnika in navpično razporejenima odsevnikoma. Vložek difuzorja v podaljšanem zadnjem odbijaču je purističnega videza, oba para zaključkov izpušnih cevi pa sta z zunanjih robov prestavljena proti sredini.

Možnost izbire dveh nekovinskih in treh kovinskih barvnih odtenkov zunanjosti, vključno z nekovinskim Zandvoort Blue in kovinskim Toronto Red, ki sta rezervirana izključno za novi BMW M2. Opcijska streha M Carbon zmanjša maso vozila za približno šest kilogramov.

Trilitrski vrstni šestvaljnik s tehnologijo M TwinPower Turbo je zasnovan za obratovanje pri visoki vrtilni frekvenci. Največja moč 338 kW (460 KM) za 66 kW (90 KM) presega moč osnovnega agregata pri predhodniku. Klasične M lastnosti visoke zmogljivosti s takojšnjim odzivom in linearnim razvojem moči v zgornje območje vrtljajev motorja. Najv. navor: 550 Nm, najv. vrtilna frekvenca motorja: 7200 vrt./min.

Sistema za hlajenje in oskrbo z oljem sta zasnovana za izjemno dinamične vzdolžne in prečne pospeške na dirkališču. M poseben izpušni sistem z električno krmiljenimi loputami proizvaja čustveno bogato zvočno kuliso.

Standardno se moč prenaša na zadnji kolesni par prek osemstopenjskega menjalnika M Steptronic s sistemom Drivelogic. Trije načini pretikanja, prestavna ročica v najnovejši M zasnovi in obvolanska vzvoda za ročno menjavanje prestav. Za klasično izkušnjo visoke zmogljivosti je na voljo opcijski ročni šeststopenjski menjalnik z asistentom za pretikanje, ki ga je mogoče deaktivirati. Standardno je na voljo tudi aktivni M diferencial na zadnji premi.

Edinstven in izjemno intenziven M občutek je posledica kompaktnih mer, kratke medosne razdalje, odlične vzdolžne in torzijske togosti, h kateri pripomorejo tudi M posebni stabilizatorji, in skoraj popolna razporeditev osne obremenitve v razmerju 50 : 50. Nastavitev podvozja, ki je bila natančno umerjena na severni pentlji Nürburgringa, krepi okretnost. Prilagodljivo M podvozje z elektronsko krmiljenimi blažilniki in M Servotronic s spremenljivim prestavnim razmerjem krmiljenja sta del standardne opreme.

Zavore M Compound so opremljene z nepremičnimi zavornimi sedli s šestimi bati spredaj in plavajočimi zavornimi sedli z enim batom zadaj. Integriran zavorni sistem z dvema nastavitvama odziva pojemka in občutka zavornega pedala. M aluminijasta platišča velikosti 19 palcev spredaj in 20 palcev zadaj imajo en palec širši premer od platišč, ki so standardno nameščena pri modelih BMW M3 in M4, opcijsko pa jih je mogoče kombinirati s tekmovalnimi pnevmatikami.

Dinamični nadzor stabilnosti (DSC) vključuje M Dynamic Mode in omejevalnik zdrsa pogonskih koles. Standardna specifikacija M Drive Professional zajema M Traction Control, ki omogoča, da se delovanje funkcije omejevalnika zdrsa pogonskih koles prilagaja v desetih stopnjah.

M2 ima M poseben koncept nadzora in upravljanja z gumbom Setup za neposredni dostop do nastavitev za motor, podvozje, krmilni mehanizem, zavorni sistem, M Traction Control in asistenta za pretikanje. Napredna zasnova kokpita z jasno osredotočenostjo na voznika. BMW iDrive najnovejše generacije temelji na operacijskem sistemu BMW različice 8. BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant in ukrivljeni zaslon BMW predstavljata popolnoma digitalni sklop prikazovalnikov za intuitivno, večmodalno interakcijo med voznikom in vozilom z ukazi v naravnem jeziku in upravljanjem na dotik. Pomembni podatki o vožnji, vključno s prestavnimi lučkami, imajo novo grafično postavitev na 12,3-palčnem informacijskem zaslonu. M posebne pripomočke za nastavitev vozila in stanje pnevmatik je mogoče dodati na pozdravni zaslon 14,9-palčnega nadzornega prikazovalnika. M posebni odčitki so projicirani tudi na opcijskem projektorju BMW Head-Up.

Obsežne možnosti prilagajanja s pomočjo BMW ID in aplikacije My BMW. Integracija pametnega telefona za Apple CarPlay® in Android Auto™. V vozilu je mogoče uporabljati osebno kartico eSIM. Optimizirana povezljivost prek antenskega sistema, ki podpira mobilno omrežje pete generacije.

Standardna športna sprednja sedeža z oblazinjenjem iz Sensateca in Alcantare imata nov videz, prilagojen modelu. Opcijsko sta na voljo tudi ekskluzivna sprednja sedeža M Sport z vgrajenima naslonoma za glavo in perforiranimi površinami z oblazinjenjem iz usnja Vernasca in Sensateca ali sedeža M Carbon školjkaste zasnove, prilagojena uporabi na dirkališču, ki prihranita 10,8 kg pri skupni masi vozila.

Standardna specifikacija opreme vključuje avtomatsko klimatsko napravo s tripodročnim upravljanjem, BMW Live Cockpit Plus z navigacijskim sistemom v oblaku BMW Maps, ambientalno razsvetljavo in Hi-Fi ozvočenje. Munich. With just a few months remaining until the world premiere of the new BMW M2*, the final test phase in the development of the new high-performance car is in full swing. The new BMW M2 offers thoroughbred racing technology for the roads. In keeping with its affinity with the racetrack, the car’s driving dynamics were subjected to an intensive test at the Salzburgring in Austria.

The tests focussed on the driving dynamics and chassis, and the new BMW M2 impressed with outstanding characteristics. The new production car boasts a similar performance level to the BMW M2 CS**, the exclusive, special-edition sports car from BMW M GmbH. It allows the driver to experience that pure racetrack feeling in any conditions – even at the limit.

The power under the bonnet of the BMW M2 is provided by the tried-and-tested engines from the M3 and M4 models. The two optional transmission types, the manual 6-speed gearbox and 8-speed M Steptronic gearbox, guarantee that the power is applied extremely dynamically, redefining sheer driving pleasure. The sporty driving characteristics are intensified by the adaptive M chassis and the rear-wheel drive on the new BMW M2. The powerful brake system comes from the M3 and M4 and ensures the power is controlled effortlessly.

The sporty appearance of the new BMW M2 is rounded off by a selection of special equipment options. For example, a carbon roof to reduce weight, among other benefits. M carbon bucket seats for the driver and passenger, also available as an option, emphasise the racing look of the new BMW M2.

München. 16. aprila, skupaj z vstopom novega modela na trg je BMW začel kampanjo za BMW M2 Coupé s poudarkom na digitalnih vsebinah. Zvezdi kampanje »Eyes on Gigi« sta novi BMW M2 Coupé in ameriški supermodel Gigi Hadid, ki za avtomobilsko blagovno znamko prvič stopa pred kamere.

Dinamična zmogljivost in agilnost prvega BMW M2 Coupé ter senzualna lepota in eleganca Gigi Hadid so navdihnili priznanega filmskega producenta in scenarista Marca Forsterja, ki se je podpisal pod režijo filmov, kot so »James Bond – Kvantum sočutja« (Quantum of Solace), »Bal smrt« (Monster's Ball)i« in »Svetovna vojna Z« (World War Z), da ustvari zelo nenavaden spot.

Eyes on Gigi.

Zanimiv posnetek, ki je bil 14. aprila sprva ekskluzivno objavljen na kanalu Youtube in strani Facebook, je povabil gledalca k povsem drugačni igri odkrivanja. Film se začne s prizorom, ko supermodel Gigi Hadid sede v enega izmed treh parkiranih modelov BMW M2 Coupé; od tu naprej poskuša gledalec slediti Gigi v njenem BMW M2 Coupé.

Kmalu se vožnji pridružita še dva modela BMW M2 Coupé in začne se hitra koreografija vozil – s čimer pa je naloga praktično nemogoča. Na koncu se vseh 5 modelov M2 Coupé ustavi, gledalec pa mora ugotoviti avtomobil, kjer sedi Gigi Hadid.

Spektakularne akrobacije, posnete v enem poskusu, so snemali na letališču v puščavi Mojave, Kalifornija pod kamermansko taktirko dobitnika oskarja Mauroja Fioreja (»Avatar«, »Pravičnik«, »The Equilizer«).

Interaktivno reševanje igre se dogaja na mikro strani kampanje EyesOnGigi.com, kjer lahko gledalec spremlja hitro koreografijo vozil tudi s 360-stopinjske perspektive.

»Eyes on Gigi« je prva kampanja, kjer vrhunski model iz Los Angelesa uradno dela za avtomobilsko blagovno znamko. »Veseli smo, da smo kot obraz naše svetovne kampanje novega BMW M2 Coupé pridobili Gigi Hadid,« je dejal Uwe Dreher, vodja za mednarodno komunikacijo blagovnih znamk BMW, BMW i in BMW M. »Gigi in M2 sta idealen par: Oba krasi močan karakter in fascinantna karizma«.

Hadid je bila nemudoma navdušena: »BMW je prava ikona med blagovnimi znamkami. Dejstvo, da bom prvi obraz te kampanje, je nedvomno vrhunec moje kariere. M2 je tako kul in zabaven«.

Kampanja prvič prevzema pristop s poudarkom na digitalnih vsebinah.

Prva objava digitalnega spota 14. aprila predstavlja začetek celostne svetovne kampanje modela prek televizijskih, digitalnih in družbenih medijev ter kanalov CRM (upravljanje odnosov s strankami). Pristop s poudarkom na digitalnih vsebinah, ki je prvič izbran za kampanjo »Eyes on Gigi« prav tako izkorišča močno prisotnost Gigi Hadid v družbenih medijih. S 16,1 milijona sledilci na Instagramu in skoraj 1,98 milijona na Twitterju ter približno 2,6 milijona oboževalcev na Facebooku je Gigi izjemno uspešna na tem področju.

Če igralec ugotovi pravi BMW M2 Coupé, ga sofisticirana digitalna arhitektura kampanje vodi do digitalnega razstavnega salona BMW M2 Coupé prodajnega podjetja BMW v njegovi državi.

Hadid je bila nenavadna zamisel kampanje všeč: »Ko so mi predstavili koncept, sem bila navdušena in hkrati počaščena, da bom tudi jaz prispevala svoj del. Izjemno sem uživala pri projektu«.

Da bi bila novi »navdušenki nad blagovno znamko« še naprej zagotovljena zabava v vožnji, ji bo BMW za šest mesecev v uporabo dal BMW M2 Coupé.

Novi BMW M2 Coupé (kombinirana poraba goriva: 8,5 l/100 km; emisije CO2: 199 g/km)* postavlja standard v razredu kompaktnih visokozmogljivih športnih avtomobilov, ko gre za vozno dinamiko in zmogljivost. Njegova ekstravertirana oblika dodatno naglasi visoko-dinamični značaj in izjemen talent za dirkalne steze. Od marca 2016 je dinamične kvalitete in vizualni izgled BMW M2 Coupé mogoče oplemenitit z novo predstavljenim sklopom elementov BMW M Performance Parts. Glušilni sistem loput M Performance poskrbi za intenzivno dojemanje zvoka motorja. Prek daljinske naprave Bluetooth je mogoče izbirati med dvema načinoma delovanja: Sport in Track. Način Sport je namenjen uporabi na javnih cestah in razvaja voznika z edinstveno športnim zvokom, ki je bil posebej usklajen z BMW M2. Medtem pa nastavitev Track dodatno poudari jakost in značaj zvoka izpušnih cevi, kar opazno poveča čustveni naboj. Tako se ustvari precej bolj intenzivno doživetje v vožnji, voznik pa čuti tesno povezanost z avtomobilom. Izpušni sistem z loputami M Performance dodatno poudari vizualnost BMW M2 z glušilno enoto v izvedbi z visokim sijajem, ki vključuje izbočen logotip M Performance, izpušne cevi s premerom 80 milimetrov in perforirano notranjo cev. BMW M2 Coupé je mogoče opremiti z vijačnim vzmetenjem BMW M Performance za optimizacijo oprijema s cesto in upravljanja. Ne glede na izbrano nastavitev pa bolj stisnjena osnovna nastavitev v primerjavi s standardnim vzmetenjem zmanjšuje nagibe karoserije vozila okoli prečne in vzdolžne osi, s tem pa zagotavlja visoko nevtralno vozno odzivnost in maksimalne neposredne povratne informacije za voznika.

Športne zavorne ploščice BMW M Performance so primerne za dirkalno stezo, obenem pa povečujejo aktivno varnost. Njihova sestava izhaja iz zavornih ploščic za dolge razdalje, ki so se uveljavile v avtomobilističnem športu. To pomeni, da imajo zavorne ploščice BMW M Performance posebno visoko odpornost na termične obremenitve in ne kažejo pomanjkanja zavorne sile, tudi če so stalno podvržene ekstremni rabi. Prav tako ponujajo izboljšano, bolj neposredno odzivnost v primerjavi z osnovnim zavornim sistemom.

Notranjosti BMW M2 Coupé je z elementi BMW M Performance Parts prav tako mogoče vdihniti edinstveni osebni športni stil. BMW, eden izmed svetovno najuspešnejših proizvajalcev premium avtomobilov se prav tako ponaša z izvrstnim položajem na trgu štirikolesnega pogona, segmentu, kamor je prvič vstopil pred 30 leti. Približno vsako tretje prodano vozilo BMW po vsem svetu je danes opremljeno z inteligentnim sistemom štirikolesnega pogona BMW xDrive. Uspešnost znamke BMW v tem segmentu ni le rezultat priljubljenih modelov BMW X, ampak tudi štirikolesnih modelov drugih modelnih serij, od BMW serije 1 do BMW serije 7. Vzdolž teh modelnih serij je na voljo široka izbira modelov s štirikolesnim pogonom za zelo različne verzije motorjev. Hkrati pa BMW nadaljuje z razvojem štirikolesne tehnologije in jo nenehno izpopolnjuje. Z nudenjem BMW xDrive v kombinaciji s hibridnim pogonom in platformo podvozja s sprednjim pogonom, proizvajalec vedno znova dokazuje svojo usposobljenost na tem področju, ki mu bo zagotovila vodilni položaj v tem segmentu tudi v prihodnje. BMW nudi danes več kot 110 modelov – s katerimkoli tipom menjalnika – z BMW xDrive v 12 različnih modelnih serijah, prav tako pa je ta oprema na voljo tudi pri priključnem hibridu BMW i8 in kompaktnem BMW 225xe z električnim pogonom.

Žarišče od prvega dne naprej: trakcija in dinamika.
Prvi naskok znamke BMW na trg štirikolesnega pogona se je zgodil z razkritjem BMW 325i “Allrad” na mednarodnem avtomobilskem salonu v Frankfurtu leta 1985. Novinec navzven ni takoj razkril svojih notranjih kvalitet, zato je imela njegova predstava, ko so ga novinarji odpeljali na testno vožnjo še toliko večji “vau” efekt. Prvi sistem štirikolesnega pogona BMW ni izboljšal le trakcije izven urejenih cest in v neugodnih vremenskih razmerah, ampak je omogočal tudi bolj dinamično vožnjo skozi zavoje. “Novi BMW je nov šampion, ko gre za obnašanje vozila med vožnjo,” se je glasila soglasna sodba testnih voznikov nemške avtomobilistične revije Auto Zeitung kmalu po prvem razkritju.

Današnji inteligentni sistem štirikolesnega pogona BMW xDrive pomika značilno vozno dinamiko BMW na novo raven. Aktualna generacija tega sistema je krmiljena s pomočjo integriranega upravljanja šasije (ICM), ki zagotavlja, da se xDrive vedno odzove ustrezno in v najbolj zgodnjem možnem trenutku, ki se določi na osnovi zanesljivega zaznavanja in nadzorovanja trenutne vozne situacije. Posegi se lahko izvajajo bodisi izključno z BMW xDrive bodisi z xDrive v kombinaciji z dinamičnim nadzorom stabilnosti (DSC) ali dinamičnim nadzorom zmogljivosti (DPC). Hiter in natančen nadzor porazdelitve pogonskega momenta zagotavlja značilne vozne lastnosti BMW tudi pri ekstremno dinamični vožnji skozi zavoj.

S tem je sistem štirikolesnega pogona natančno prilagojen tipičnim lastnostim pogona BMW na vsa štiri kolesa. To pomeni, da se pri modelih s štirikolesnim pogonom večji delež pogonskega momenta posreduje na zadnji kolesi, če vožnja poteka v normalnih voznih razmerah. Na ta način se ohrani natančna povratna informacija krmiljenja BMW, ki praktično odpravi navor krmiljenja. Za natančno zavijanje in visoko stabilnost ohranjanje smeri vožnje, najnovejša generacija sistema BMW xDrive povečuje količino moči na zadnji kolesni par, kakor hitro vozilo vstopi v zavoj, kar še izboljša užitek v vožnji, ki je sinonim za BMW.

Tehnologija štirikolesnega pogona BMW: neprekinjena evolucija od leta 1985.
Stalni sistem štirikolesnega pogona, ki je vgrajen v BMW 325i “Allrad” iz leta 1985, porazdeli pogonski moment med sprednjo in zadnjo premo v razmerju 37 : 63. Kot odgovor na razlike pri vrtilni frekvenci koles sta viskozna sklopka v razdelilnem gonilu in zadnji diferencial lahko zagotovila praktično togo povezavo med sprednjo in zadnjo premo, da bi se izboljšala trakcija in stabilnost. Ime modela se je kmalu preimenovalo v BMW 325iX, od leta 1988 pa je bil na voljo tudi v različici “touring” (mala začetnica v veljavi do in vključno s serijo E46).

1991: BMW 525iX.
Tri leta pozneje je BMW vpeljal štirikolesni pogon tudi v BMW serije 5. Prvič je bila porazdelitev moči uravnavana elektronsko. Prenovljen sistem je vključeval lamelne sklopke, ki so omogočale, da se je standardna porazdelitev moči med sprednjo in zadnjo premo v razmerju 36 : 64 spreminjala brezstopenjsko in avtomatsko v skladu z voznimi razmerami. Najprej se je hidravlično krmiljena lamelna sklopka uporabljala na zadnji premi, vendar je bila ta pozneje zamenjana z elektronsko krmiljenim selektivnim zavornim posegom. Sistem, ki je nadzoroval vozno situacijo prek signalov vrtilne frekvence koles iz ABS, je bil dopolnjen z dodatnimi informacijami o stanju zavor, vrtilni frekvenci motorja in položaju dušilne lopute.

Sistem štirikolesnega pogona v BMW 525iX je bil od vsega začetka razred zase. Elektronski nadzorni sistem je posredoval zelo hitro in natančno povratno informacijo, kar je pomenilo varno in nevtralno obnašanje vozila med vožnjo tudi v zahtevnih voznih razmerah, kot so mokre ali zasnežene ceste. Tudi pri BMW serije 5 so bili prvi modeli s štirikolesnim pogonom na voljo kot Limuzina ali Touring.

1999: Športno terensko vozilo (SAV) odpira novo poglavje.
Na uvodu v novo tisočletje je senzacionalno debitiral zelo inovativen koncept vozila znamke BMW. BMW X5, prvo športno terensko vozilo (SAV), je kupce navdušil z vozno dinamiko, ki je bila brez primere med ostalimi terenskimi vozili tistega časa. Izvrsten sistem štirikolesnega pogona je pri tem odigral pomembno vlogo. Planetno gonilo je porazdelilo pogonski moment med sprednjo in zadnjo premo v razmerju 38 : 62, medtem ko so elektronski nadzorni sistemi, kot npr. DSC (dinamični nadzor stabilnosti), ADB-X (avtomatska diferencialna zavora) in HDC (pomoč pri spuščanju po klancu), zagotavljali, da je bil novi BMW X5 športen na cesti in opremljen za premagovanje zahtevnih razmer izven utrjenih poti.

V letih, ki so sledila uspešnemu lansiranju koncepta SAV na trg, ni bilo pri BMW nobenega popuščanja v hitrem tempu razvoja štirikolesnega pogona. Leta 2000 je za model specifična različica tehnologije štirikolesnega pogona BMW X5 postala na voljo za četrto generacijo BMW serije 3.

2003: BMW xDrive debitira v BMW X3 in BMW X5.
Štiri leta od prihoda na trg BMW X5, je BMW nadaljeval s svojo dinamiko z lansiranjem koncepta SAV v novem segmentu vozil. Novi BMW X3 je bil kompaktnejši od BMW X5 in je nudil še bolj agilne vozne lastnosti. Postavil je nove mejnike in v naslednjih letih ostal edini premium model v svojem razredu.

Prenovljen sistem štirikolesnega pogona BMW xDrive, ki je bil istega leta vpeljan v BMW X3 in BMW X5, je kmalu povečal vodilni položaj znamke BMW v segmentu štirikolesnega pogona. Na osnovi ekstremno hitro delujoče elektronske lamelne sklopke v razdelilnem gonilu, je xDrive deloval v tandemu z dinamičnim nadzorom stabilnosti (DSC), ki sta porazdelitev pogonskega momenta stalno prilagajala aktualni vozni situaciji. Poleg vrtilne frekvence koles je elektronski nadzorni sistem prvič upošteval tudi podatke dinamičnega nadzora stabilnosti (DSC), kot so npr. krmilni kot, položaj pedala za plin in bočni pospešek. Zato je BMW xDrive prvi svetovni, in še vedno edini, “inteligentni” sistem štirikolesnega pogona. V nasprotju s konvencionalnimi sistemi štirikolesnega pogona, ki se odzovejo, ko se vsaj eno kolo že vrti v prazno, lahko xDrive zazna nevarnost prekrmiljenja ali podkrmiljenja že ob prvih znakih in proaktivno posreduje s preusmeritvijo toka pogonskega momenta.

Inteligentni sistem štirikolesnega pogona BMW xDrive v naslednjih letih ni bil vgrajen le v modele BMW X, ampak tudi v različice xDrive modelov BMW serije 3 in serije 5 obeh karoserijskih izvedb (Limuzina in Touring). Do prihoda na trg BMW X3 druge generacije v letu 2010, je bilo po vsem svetu prodanih več kot 600.000 vozil te serije. Nekoliko prej je prodaja BMW X5 – ki je s svojo drugo generacijo prišel na trg v letu 2006 – presegla znamko enega milijona.

2008: SAC z dinamičnim nadzorom zmogljivosti (DPC) in hibridnim pogonom.
Z dvema močno uveljavljenima karoserijskima izvedenkama SAV v svojih segmentih, je BMW leta 2007 javnosti predstavil prvo svetovno športno terensko vozilo s silhueto kupeja (SAC). Popolnoma novi BMW X6, ki je bil razkrit na mednarodnem avtomobilskem salonu v Frankfurtu, je dvignil značilen dinamičen značaj modelov BMW X na novo raven intenzivnosti. Inteligentni sistem štirikolesnega pogona je bil prvič kombiniran z dinamičnim nadzorom zmogljivosti (DPC), ki spreminja porazdelitev pogonskega momenta med zadnjima kolesoma pri vožnji skozi zavoj, kar zagotavlja neprekosljivo agilnost in stabilnost tudi pri nenadnih spremembah hitrosti ali prehitevanju. Leta 2009 je BMW Active Hybrid X6 demonstriral naslednjo odlično kombinacijo – med BMW xDrive in hibridnim pogonom. Medtem je oddelek BMW M GmbH istega leta k svoji ponudbi športnih vozil z visoko zmogljivostjo dodal dva zelo posebna modela. Z M uglašenim sistemom BMW xDrive, vključno z dinamičnim nadzorom zmogljivosti (DPC), sta BMW X5 M in BMW X6 M pokazala zmogljivost, ki doslej v segmentu vsekolesnega pogona ni bila poznana.

Leto 2009 je bilo premierno še za en novi model z oznako X, to je BMW X1. V naslednjih letih je BMW X1 ostal edino vozilo svoje vrste v premium kompaktnem segmentu. Njegov inteligentni sistem štirikolesnega pogona BMW xDrive, enak kot v novem BMW X3 (2010), je bil prav tako združljiv z nadzorom zmogljivosti. Slednji selektivno zavira kolo na notranji strani zavoja, medtem ko sočasno povečuje moč motorja, kar zagotavlja hitro in precizno vožnjo skozi zavoje in dviguje agilne vozne lastnosti obeh modelov na novo raven.

BMW xDrive na voljo tudi za ostale modelne serije.
Nenehen napredek modelov BMW X je spremljala rast števila različic xDrive, ki so bile na voljo tudi pri ostalih modelnih serijah BMW. BMW xDrive, ki je bil konstruiran za izboljšanje agilnosti pri vožnji skozi zavoj in večjo natančnost, omogoča izpopolnjeno vozno doživetje in optimalno kombinacijo dinamike ter udobja. Zato je bilo le še vprašanje časa, kdaj bo ta inteligentna pogonska tehnologija doživela svoj prvenec tudi v BMW serije 7 (leta 2009). Spomladi leta 2012 sta bila prva modela Coupé in Cabrio s štirikolesnim pogonom na voljo tudi v športnem BMW serije 6. BMW xDrive se lahko naroči pri aktualnih BMW serije 3 in serije 5 ter, od leta 2013, v modelih Cabrio, Coupé in Gran Coupé novega BMW serije 4.

Nenehno spodbujanje napredka.
Z lansiranjem novega BMW X4 v letu 2014 je BMW naredil nov korak v premium segmentu srednje velikih vozil. Nova izvedenka SAC nudi edinstveno kombinacijo užitka v vožnji, prefinjenega sloga in moderne praktičnosti. Model X4 ima tehnologijo BMW xDrive na voljo že v osnovni opremi in je razpoložljiv s širokim spektrom različic motorjev. Istega leta je BMW prav tako predstavil modele BMW X5 tretje generacije, BMW X6 druge generacije in M športni različici obeh modelov. BMW xDrive je debitiral še v novem BMW serije 2 Active Tourer. To je bil nekoliko drugačen prvenec, saj je BMW svoj inteligentni sistem štirikolesnega pogona prvič kombiniral s popolnoma novo platformo podvozja s sprednjim pogonom.

Z BMW i8, ki je bil javnosti predstavljen leta 2014, je BMW Group pogumno zakorakal v novo smer, ki je vključevala tudi sistem štirikolesnega pogona. Ta športni model s konceptom sedežev 2 + 2 poganja zelo napreden priključni hibridni sistem, ki združuje motor z notranjim zgorevanjem na zadnji in elektromotor z visoko učinkovitostjo na sprednji premi.

Osredotočen na prihodnost: BMW xDrive sreča BMW eDrive.
Najnovejši modeli BMW s štirikolesnim pogonom prinašajo tehnološki napredek, ki je močno vpet v mobilnost prihodnosti. Vozilu BMW i8 je sledil mednarodni prihod na trg prvega proizvodnega priključnega hibrida iz jedrne blagovne znamke, in sicer BMW X5 xDrive40e. Po zaslugi stalnega sistema štirikolesnega pogona BMW xDrive in tehnologije eDrive BMW EfficientDynamics, združuje to športno terensko vozilo (SAV) vznemirljivo športno zmogljivost z izvrstno učinkovitostjo. Inteligentno upravljanje moči hibrida sinhronizira obratovanje motorja z notranjim zgorevanjem in elektromotorja, da v vsakem trenutku poveča učinkovitost, medtem ko se odlično odziva na voznikove zahteve. Pogonski moment iz obeh pogonskih enot se prenaša na cesto s pomočjo stalnega inteligentnega sistema štirikolesnega pogona BMW xDrive.

BMW serije 7: integralno aktivno krmiljenje združljivo z BMW xDrive.
V mesecu septembru 2015 je na mednarodnem avtomobilskem salonu v Frankfurtu svojo svetovno premiero doživela šesta generacija BMW serije 7. Najbolj luksuzna limuzina BMW, ki prinaša revolucionarne inovacije na vseh področjih, je z BMW xDrive na voljo od svojega prihoda na trg (oktober 2015). Nova luksuzna limuzina bo prav tako prvi model, ki bo omogočal kombinacijo inteligentnega sistema štirikolesnega pogona z integralnim aktivnim krmiljenjem, kar pomeni –pasivno krmiljenjem zadnjega kolesnega para.

Že pred štiridesetimi leti je kompakten visokozmogljiv športni avtomobil BMW privabljal številne poglede in pospeši bitje mnogih src. Model BMW 2002 Turbo je povsem udejanjil odločitev BMW, da priskrbi izjemno dinamiko, izvrstno storilnost in optimalni nadzor nad avtomobilom. Kot da bi želel na podobno odmeven način prikazati, da je ta predanost še vedno živa in močna, BMW M GmbH sedaj predstavlja novi BMW M2. Z visokozmogljivim šestvaljnim vrstnim motorjem, živahnostjo, za katero poskrbi pogon na zadnja kolesa, lahkim aluminijastim podvozjem M Sport in ekstravertiranim stilom, postavlja novi BMW M2 piko na i pri užitku v vožnji.

Značilna oblika M. 
Samo en pogled zadostuje, da se novega BMW M2 Coupé prepozna kot člana družine BMW M, njegov stil pa prav tako poudari njegove dinamične lastnosti. Novi M2 Coupé, ki je svoj navdih poiskal pri modelih iz zgodovine BMW dirkalnikov, odkrito razkazuje svoj potencial zmogljivosti. Nizek sprednji odbijač z velikimi odprtinami za zrak, močno oblikovani boki z značilnimi stranskimi režami za zrak, 19-palčna aluminijasta platišča v znani izvedbi M Double-spoke in nizek, širok zadek s specifičnim izpušnim sistemom M z dvojnimi izpušnimi cevmi, odigrajo svojo vlogo. Značajske poteze avtomobilov BMW M so prav tako prisotne in opazne v zasnovi notranjosti. Vratni paneli in sredinska konzola v izvedbi Alcantara skupaj z zračnimi karbonskimi vlakni ustvarjajo okolje izbrane kakovosti, medtem ko je omamna športna ambicija nadalje podčrtana z modrimi kontrastnimi šivi in izbočenim M na določenih detajlih. Športni sedeži, športni volan M in prestavna ročica M vseskozi zagotavljajo voznikom BMW M2 popoln nadzor nad avtomobilom.

Eksplozivna zmogljivost.
Novo razvit, 3-litrski šestvaljni vrstni motor v novem BMW M2 vključuje najsodobnejšo tehnologijo M TwinPower Turbo in razvije 272 kW/370 KM pri 6500 vrt/min (kombinirana poraba goriva: 8,5 l/100 km; emisije CO2: 199 g/km)*, pri tem pa postavlja merilo v razredu visokozmogljivih kompaktnih športni avtomobilov. Enako velja za razvoj moči; največji navor 465 Nm je mogoče povečati vse do 500 Nm s funkcijo Overboost. Tako novi BMW M2, opremljen s 7-stopenjskim menjalnikom z dvojno sklopko M Double Clutch Transmission (M DCT) in Launch Control iz sklopa dodatne opreme, pospeši od 0 do 100 km/h v zgolj 4,3 sekunde. Največja hitrost je elektronsko omejena na 250 km/h, obenem pa avtomobil z menjalnikom M DCT poudarja tudi odlično učinkovitost s porabo goriva 7,9 litra* na 100 km in emisijami 185 g/km*.

Strokovno znanje iz sveta avtomobilističnega športa. 
Novi BMW M2 Coupé z lahko aluminijasto sprednjo in zadnjo premo iz modelov BMW M3/M4, kovanimi 19-palčnimi aluminijastimi platišči s kombiniranimi pnevmatikami, krmiljenjem M Servotronic z dvema nastavitvama in primerno učinkovitimi zavornimi koluti v sestavljeni konstrukciji znova dviguje standarde v razredu visokozmogljivih kompaktnih športnih avtomobilov na področju vozne dinamike. Svoje doda tudi elektronsko krmiljen aktivni diferencial M, ki optimizira vlečno silo in smerno stabilnost. Užitek v vožnji pa je še večji z vklopljenim načinom vožnje M Dynamic Mode (MDM) sistema za elektronski nadzor stabilnosti. MDM omogoča zdrs koles in s tem zmerne, nadzorovane manevre na dirkalni stezi.

Inteligentna povezljivost, ko jo želite. 
Novi BMW M2 Coupé je opremljen s številnimi elementi iz seznama osnovne opreme, ki se osredotočajo na zmogljivost vozila. 7-stopenjski menjalnik z dvojno sklopko M Double Clutch Transmission (M DCT) z Drivelogic, na voljo kot dodatna oprema, izjemno hitro, a brez prekinjanja pretoka moči pretika med prestavami. Širok nabor sistemov za pomoč vozniku in mobilnih storitev iz sklopa BMW ConnectedDrive je prav tako na voljo. Storitve ConnectedDrive zagotavljajo osnovo za številne možnosti povezljivosti vozila, sledjna pa omogoča uporabo inovativnih aplikacij, ki so nevidno vgrajene v avtomobil s pomočjo tehnologije BMW ConnectedDrive. S krmilnikom iDrive in nadzornim prikazovalnikom na primer aplikacija GoPro omogoča vozniku, da beleži hitre kroge na stezi s kamero, nameščeno na armaturni plošči. Medtem pa je mogoče individualni stil vožnje analizirati z aplikacijo M Laptimer. Informacije o hitrosti in mestih zaviranja je mogoče enostavno posredovati prek e-pošte ali Facebook profila.

Iz močnega jedra. 
Novi BMW M2 Coupé ni samo neposredni naslednik uspešnega BMW serije 1 M Coupé, ampak tudi – v svojem bistvu – potomec originalnega E30 BMW M3 in BMW 2002 Turbo. Slednji je pred 40 leti povzročil pravo senzacijo, ko je utelesil predanost do izjemne dinamike, neprekosljive agilnosti in optimalnega nadzora nad avtomobilom, kateri sedaj sledi BMW M GmbH.
