Sheer driving pleasure has always been baked into the BMW brand’s DNA. The BMW Z4 is a prime example: truly exhilarating roadster fun. Since the start of the first model generation in 2002, this open-top sports car has been wowing customers with its unique combination of peerless design, a purist driving experience and sporty dynamics. The upcoming BMW Z4 Final Edition provides fans with a time-limited opportunity to order a very special version of this vehicle – one that may well become a collectors’ item. It comes with specific equipment elements that create individual highlights on the outside as well as in the interior. At the same time, the Final Edition represents this iconic two‑seater’s crowning glory. Production of the BMW Z4 will come to an end in March 2026.

Customers will have a short order window for the BMW Z4 Final Edition, beginning in late January 2026.

Distinctive looks for an unmistakeable personality.

The distinguishing exterior feature of the BMW Z4 Final Edition is its exclusive Frozen Matt Black paint finish. This colour, which underlines the model’s individual and dynamic flair, is only available for the Final Edition of the BMW Z4. It looks particularly impressive when combined with the M High-gloss Shadowline exterior trim, which is part of all Final Edition models. In addition to Frozen Matt Black, customers can select other colours from the BMW Z4 range, at no extra cost. The M Sport brake in High-gloss Red is also included with the BMW Z4 Final Edition. It impresses with particularly effective deceleration and attractive looks.

The distinctive contrasting red seams selected especially for the Final Edition provide a literal common thread which, in this case, ties together the instrument panel, centre console, door trims and M Sport seats in Vernasca

Leather/Alcantara. Another attractive eye-catcher is the M Alcantara steering wheel with contrasting seams to match. It accentuates the sporty character of the BMW Z4 Final Edition to perfection, while specially engraved door sill strips enhance its exclusivity.

The Final Edition is available for the 145 kW/197 hp BMW Z4 sDrive20i (WLTP combined (EnVKV): fuel consumption 7.4–7.3 litres/100 km; CO₂ emissions: 166–164 g/km, CO₂ class F)* as well as the BMW Z4 sDrive30i delivering 190 kW/258 hp of power (WLTP combined (EnVKV): fuel consumption 7.4 litres/100 km; CO₂ emissions: 167 g/km, CO₂ class F)*. The Edition also extends to the range-topping BMW Z4 M40i (WLTP combined (EnVKV): fuel consumption 8.7–8.0 litres/100 km; CO₂ emissions: 197–181 g/km, CO₂ class G)* powered by a 250 kW/340 hp six-cylinder in-line engine.

Offered for all models regardless of the transmission selected, the Final Edition trim level costs 4,200 euros. It requires the M Sport package already included as standard in the BMW Z4 sDrive30i and BMW Z4 M40i. With the BMW Z4 sDrive20i, the Final Edition is charged at 7,400 euros, as the M Sport package is not part of the standard equipment for this engine variant and is therefore added to the vehicle at the usual cost of 3,200 euros.

The history of the BMW Z4: Launch of the first generation in 2002.

The BMW Z4 is part of a long-standing BMW tradition of open-top two‑seater sports cars. This successful lineage includes icons such as the BMW 328 Roadster, the BMW 507 and the BMW Z8.

The BMW Z4 had its premiere in autumn 2002, as the direct successor to the BMW Z3 launched in 1995. And, like its predecessor, the BMW roadster known internally as the E85 series was produced at the BMW Plant Spartanburg in the US state of South Carolina.  

With its long bonnet and short rear, the design of the BMW Z4 signalled power and sporting prowess. In the cabin, the low seating position just in front of the rear axle made for an unforgettable roadster driving experience. The BMW Z4 set new standards with a torsional stiffness previously unmatched in the convertible and roadster segment. Its supreme agility was also due to its 50/50 weight distribution. The BMW Z4 M Roadster was the first generation’s range-topper. Fitted with the 252 kW/340 hp six-cylinder in-line engine from the BMW M3, it accelerated from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.0 seconds.

The second BMW Z4 generation: Unchanged dynamic appeal, electro-hydraulic retractable hardtop as standard.

In December 2008 BMW introduced the second generation of the Z4 to the world. The new two-seater known internally as the E89 model series again combined classic proportions with leading-edge engineering.

It came with a completely new, electro-hydraulically retractable hardtop made up of two roof sections. Featuring an aluminium shell design, the hardtop was included as standard and could be opened or closed at the touch of a button in just 20 seconds. With the hardtop in place, the BMW Z4 offered the refined comfort of a sporty premium coupé. The interior of the new BMW Z4 had gained much over the first-generation model in terms of headroom and elbow room. In addition, this marked the first time the roadster used the BMW iDrive infotainment system.

The third-generation BMW Z4: Modern interpretation of the classic open-top sports car.

BMW premiered the third – and current – generation of the BMW Z4 in August 2018 at Pebble Beach Golf Links near Monterey, California. The BMW Z4 world premiere revealed a modern interpretation of the classic open-top sports car. A premium roadster boasting an electrically operated fabric softtop, sporty handling and a purist, driver-focused interior design. This was complemented by premium-quality driver assistance, infotainment and connectivity features. Unparalleled in this segment is the three-litre straight-six engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology in the BMW Z4 M40i, which has been offered with a manual transmission since 2024 as the Pure Impulse Edition. The Final Edition will be the pinnacle of the third-generation BMW Z4.

Fans of unadulterated driving pleasure in an open-top BMW M model can look forward to a new arrival tailored perfectly to their preferences: the Pure Impulse edition of the BMW Z4 M40i (fuel consumption combined: 8.7 l/100 km [32.5 mpg imp]; CO₂ emissions combined: 197 – 195 g/km in WLTP cycle). With the 2024 model year roadster, a six-speed manual gearbox will also be available for the range-topping version for the first time. The new engine/transmission pairing forms the core element of an enticing equipment package designed to place greater emphasis than ever on the two-seater’s unwavering focus on delivering an exhilarating open-top driving experience. The Pure Impulse edition brings retuned chassis technology and mixed-size M light-alloy wheels measuring 19 inches in diameter at the front axle and 20 inches at the rear. And exclusive design features for both the exterior and interior are also included. The BMW Z4 Pure Impulse edition will be on sale in Germany, other European markets and the USA. New additions to the range of exterior paint finishes provide the remaining BMW Z4 model variants with a refresh as well.

Muscular roadster proportions with M-specific design features; two seats and a classic soft-top roof; a free-revving six-cylinder in-line engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology, sending its power to the road through the rear wheels: this formula has seen the BMW Z4 M40i establish itself as the archetypal purist’s sports car. And now another key ingredient in a richly engaging driving experience has joined the party in the shape of a manual gearbox to marshal the 250 kW/340 hp from that straight-six engine.

Fresh impetus for the global market leader in the premium roadster segment.

This new offering at the top of the model range endows the most powerful variant of the roadster with the ideal tools to further increase its popularity. To date, nearly half of all customers in Germany have opted for the flagship version of the BMW Z4, whose straight-six engine gives it a unique selling point in a fiercely competitive segment occupied solely by German premium brands. The BMW M model has accounted for over 30 per cent of the roadster’s global sales volume in recent times.

Demand for the BMW Z4 is otherwise split between two model variants powered by exceptionally efficient four-cylinder engines with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology. The engine under the bonnet of the BMW Z4 sDrive20i (fuel consumption combined: 7.4 – 7.1 litres/100 km [38.2 – 39.8 mpg imp]; CO₂ emissions combined: 167 – 159 g/km in WLTP cycle) generates maximum output of 145 kW/197 hp and is also partnered by a six-speed manual gearbox as standard. The entry-level model is optionally available with an eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission that comes as standard on the 190 kW/258 hp BMW Z4 sDrive30i (fuel consumption combined: 7.4 – 7.0 litres/100 km [38.2 – 40.4 mpg imp]; CO₂ emissions combined: 167 – 159 g/km in WLTP cycle) and also remains the standard item for the BMW Z4 M40i not featuring the Pure Impulse edition specification (fuel consumption combined: 8.0 – 7.8 litres/100 km [35.3 – 36.2 mpg imp]; CO₂ emissions combined: 181 – 175 g/km in WLTP cycle).

The current, third generation of the BMW Z4 has been the leader in the premium roadster segment since launch with this model line-up and has seen its market shares grow continuously. The main sales region for the open-top two-seater is Germany, followed by the USA, China, the UK and Japan. The BMW Z4 M40i Pure Impulse edition will be launched with a production phase-in from March 2024. The roadster will continue to be built at the BMW Group’s manufacturing partner Magna Steyr Fahrzeugtechnik in the Austrian city of Graz.

The BMW roadster: giving a successful tradition a modern twist.

The history of roadsters from BMW is closely intertwined with a passion for sporty driving pleasure and plentiful success on the race track. It stretches all the way back to the company’s early days as a carmaker and endures in modern form in the shape of the BMW Z4.

A six-cylinder in-line engine, manual gearbox and rear-wheel drive also defined the driving experience in the BMW 328, which capped its debut public appearance in 1936 with victory in the Eifelrennen race at the Nürburgring. In more recent times, updated versions of this same powertrain arrangement have also made frequent appearances in the brand’s roadsters. This is true of both the BMW Z1, which was unveiled in 1987 after being developed as an innovation testbed by BMW Technik, and the BMW Z3 presented in 1995. And the first two model generations of the BMW Z4 also embraced the same recipe for delivering exhilarating driving pleasure under open skies.

Exclusive combination: six cylinders and a six-speed manual gearbox.

The pairing of a straight-six engine with a six-speed manual gearbox means the new edition of the BMW Z4 M40i represents a unique proposition in this segment – and also a highly exclusive set-up within the BMW product portfolio. In fact, the only models in the current range available with this drive configuration are high-performance sports cars from BMW M GmbH. But now a BMW M Performance model is set to join them with the arrival of the BMW Z4 M40i Pure Impulse edition.

The 3.0-litre unit in the BMW Z4 M40i owes its familiar free-revving performance, instantaneous power delivery and silky smoothness to the latest M TwinPower Turbo technology. The engine’s special characteristics include a forged crankshaft, weight-optimised pistons and a water-cooled exhaust manifold integrated into the cylinder head. A twin-scroll turbocharger supplies the six combustion chambers with compressed air, whose temperature is regulated by means of an indirect intercooler. The package of drive unit technologies also comprises High Precision Injection operating at pressures up to 350 bar, VALVETRONIC variable valve timing and Double-VANOS fully variable camshaft timing.

With peak torque of 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) that can be summoned between 1,600 and 4,500 rpm, the engine generates compelling pulling power. Its maximum output of 250 kW/340 hp is on tap from 5,000 – 6,500 rpm.

In this special-edition model, the task of transmitting power to the road is handled by a six-speed manual gearbox developed exclusively for the BMW Z4 M40i. It is a BMW modular transmission incorporating M-specific components for the gear set and shafts that has been modified for the straight-six engine’s output. The outer shift mechanism, comprising the shift lever, its guide and the connection to the transmission, has likewise been custom made for the Pure Impulse edition of the BMW Z4 M40i – and delivers the unrivalled shift feel for which BMW models are renowned. The direct flow of power between engine and transmission combined with the driver’s central involvement in gear changes reinforces the emotional bond between driver and vehicle. A precisely defined shift action enables the gears to be changed swiftly and intuitively.

When power is relayed via the six-speed manual gearbox, the six-cylinder in-line engine propels the BMW Z4 M40i to 100 km/h (62 mph) from rest in 4.6 seconds. The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) takes 4.5 seconds on models with the eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission. Although by default the Steptronic Sport will select the gears automatically, it also lets the driver control gear selection manually if desired. The shift paddles on the steering wheel are designed to allow spontaneous interaction with the drive system.

Refined chassis tuning, mixed-size wheels for the first time on the BMW Z4.

Compact proportions, minimised weight, a low centre of gravity and virtually perfect 50 : 50 weight distribution are the defining elements of a BMW Z4 vehicle concept honed precisely to deliver agility and dynamic performance. The extremely rigid body and chassis structure and excellent aerodynamic attributes also help to mould the sports car character of the Z4. The roadster’s chassis design, combining a double-joint spring strut front axle with a five-link rear axle, produces a compelling and harmonious blend of dynamism and ride comfort.

The standard equipment roster for the BMW Z4 M40i includes variable sport steering, M Sport brakes and an M Sport differential at the rear axle along with adaptive M suspension with electronically controlled dampers, whose software has undergone extra fine-tuning for the Pure Impulse edition. The exclusive chassis technology aboard the special edition features bespoke auxiliary springs at the front and rear axles. A specially reinforced anti-roll bar clamp is also fitted at the front, while both the mapping for electronic control of the rear dampers and the software for the variable sport steering have been newly adjusted. In order to achieve sharper handling characteristics that will be appreciated by driving purists, the development team also equipped the traction control and M Sport differential with model-specific control logic.

Another new feature on the chassis side relates to the wheel sizes, as different-size wheels are being fitted to the model year 2024 BMW Z4 M40i for the first time. The new M light-alloy wheels in double-spoke design with a Black high-gloss finish measure 19 inches in diameter at the front axle and 20 inches at the rear. Previously reserved for high-performance models from BMW M GmbH, this pairing enables optimum transfer of drive power to the road – especially in conjunction with rear-wheel drive – together with highly effective transmission of lateral control forces when cornering hard.

Pure Impulse edition with individual exterior features.

In addition to the six-speed manual gearbox, the refined chassis tuning and the combination of 19-inch and 20-inch M light-alloy wheels, the Pure Impulse edition also adds individual design features to the exterior of the BMW Z4 M40i. These give the roadster a sharper look that underlines its more rounded sports car character, while also complementing the familiar M exterior features for optimising airflow and aerodynamic balance. They include the M High-gloss Shadowline trim with extended features – which also incorporates the exclusive model badging on the front side panels and the vehicle’s rear end – as well as the exterior mirror caps painted in Black high-gloss, specially designed flaps for streamlining the airflow in the area around the rear wheel arches and red brake callipers for the M Sport brakes.

New exterior colours also form part of the Pure Impulse edition’s specification. Examples for European markets have a Frozen Deep Green metallic finish, while models destined for the USA sport the Sanremo Green metallic body colour. Further exterior paint finishes from the familiar range of colours for the BMW Z4 can be selected as an alternative to the new variants.

Exclusive interior appointments for the Pure Impulse edition.

The interior of the BMW Z4 has been crafted for the enjoyment of unfettered driving pleasure in a space with a modern and sophisticated sports car feel. The driver-centric cockpit design and model-specific sport seats with integral head restraints both help to achieve this goal. The cabin combines clean lines that seem to surge forward with trim surfaces concentrated in just a few areas.

The Pure Impulse edition includes M-specific design features for the interior supplemented by a number of exclusive details. For instance, there is an M gearshift lever with model-specific sleeve on the centre console that is used to control the special-edition model’s six-speed manual gearbox. The Vernasca leather trim in Cognac with black M piping – also exclusive to the BMW Z4 M40i Pure Impulse – exudes a blend of sumptuous elegance and sporting flair. It is complemented by interior trim strips in Black high-gloss.

New body colours for the four-cylinder models too.

The new shades added to the selection of exterior paint finishes are available for other model year 2024 examples of the BMW Z4 besides the Pure Impulse edition. However, Frozen Deep Green metallic is reserved for the top-of-the-range versions of the roadster. The Sanremo Green metallic finish is also available for the BMW Z4 sDrive20i and BMW Z4 sDrive30i.

The duo of four-cylinder models come with the exterior features of the M Sport package as standard, notably including the three-section air intakes in the front apron, individually styled side skirt contouring and a rear apron with highly distinctive side surrounds. 18-inch M light-alloy wheels in double-spoke design can likewise be found on the standard equipment list. The wheels have a bi-colour finish and are fitted with mixed-size tyres. The BMW Z4 sDrive30i is additionally equipped with M Sport suspension, variable sport steering and M Sport brakes, all as standard. The M Sport differential can also be specified as an option for this particular variant of the roadster.

The soft-top roof of the BMW Z4 is also available in an Anthracite Silver effect finish as an alternative to the standard black colour for all model variants. It is electrically operated and can be opened or closed in the space of ten seconds at the touch of a button, even while travelling at speeds up to 50 km/h (31 mph). A wind deflector, seat heating and two-zone automatic climate control also form part of standard specification on all variants of the roadster. The standard storage package and through-loading facility, meanwhile, serve to enhance functionality both in everyday driving and on longer journeys.

Puristic driving pleasure meets intuitive operation and state-of-the-art driver assistance systems.

The familiar driver focus of BMW models and the ergonomically enhanced interior design aimed at providing an engaging driving experience also come together with the BMW iDrive display and control/operation system in the BMW Z4. This system combines with the BMW Live Cockpit Professional fitted as standard in all BMW Z4 model variants to ensure intuitive vehicle operation and intelligent connectivity. It comprises a fully digital instrument cluster with customisable graphics and a control display with touchscreen operation – both with a screen diagonal of 10.25 inches – as well as the Controller on the centre console and the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant. The BMW Maps navigation system, a hard-drive-based multimedia system, smartphone integration and a WiFi hotspot are also part of the BMW Live Cockpit Professional package. The Hi-Fi speaker system, a hands-free facility with USB interface and an alarm system are also fitted as standard, while the Harman Kardon Surround Sound System with 12 speakers can be added as an option.

The new BMW Z4 additionally offers customers a selection of driver assistance systems that are carefully geared to the enjoyment of pure driving pleasure. Front collision warning with brake intervention, Lane Departure Warning with lane return and the Speed Limit Info function with no-overtaking indicator all come as standard. Features to be found on the options list include Cruise Control with Stop&Go function, the Lane Change Warning system, Rear Collision Prevention and Crossing Traffic Warning, along with the Parking Assistant, Reversing Assist Camera and the Reversing Assistant. The BMW Head-Up Display – also available as an option – projects driving-related information onto the roadster’s windscreen.

Nadaljevanje uspešne tradicije roadsterja pri BMW.

BMW Z4 s svojo prepoznavno športno močjo črpa navdih iz zgodovinskih korenin blagovne znamke. BMW Z4 že 20 let pooseblja užitek v vožnji z odprto streho za voznika in sovoznika. Prva generacija roadsterja je bila razkrita na avtomobilskem salonu Mondial de l'Automobile v Parizu leta 2002. Štiri leta pozneje mu je sledil dvosedežni BMW Z4 Coupe, iz katerega je bil razvit dirkalnik GT3, ki je dosegel zavidljiv uspeh na 24 ur Nürburgringa, eni najpomembnejših vzdržljivostnih dirk. Tudi na cesti je bil BMW Z4 še kako zaposlen s postavljanjem novih dinamičnih standardov. Tretja generacija: vrstni šestvaljnik naredi občutno razliko.

Sedanji BMW Z4 je na trgu od leta 2020, izdeluje pa ga Magna Steyr Fahrzeugtechnik v avstrijskem Gradcu, ki je proizvodni partner BMW Group. Uvedba novega modela na svetovnem trgu se bo začela novembra 2022. Motorizacijo sestavljata par štirivaljnih motorjev in vrstni šestvaljnik, ki prinaša BMW Z4 M40i (kombinirana poraba goriva: 8,1–7,9 l/100 km; kombinirane emisije CO2: 184–179 g/km po voznem ciklu WLTP) edinstveno prodajno prednost v njegovem segmentu. Model BMW M je v zadnjem času predstavljal več kot 30 odstotkov svetovne prodaje roadsterja, v Nemčiji je BMW Z4 M40i zabeležil celo številko 48 odstotkov.

Do danes je bilo po vsem svetu prodanih več kot 55.000 vozil BMW Z4 tretje generacije. Najpomembnejši posamezni trg za roadster je Nemčija, kjer je bilo prodanih približno 26 odstotkov vseh avtomobilov sedanje modelske generacije. Sledijo ZDA (s 17 odstotki), Kitajska, Združeno kraljestvo in Japonska. V segmentu vozil, ki na splošno upada, BMW Z4 ohranja izjemno dosleden obseg prodaje, odkar je v prodajnih salonih. Od prvega dne je daleč najbolje prodajan model v zelo konkurenčnem razredu, ki ga zasedajo izključno nemške premijske znamke. Odtlej dosledno povečuje svoj tržni delež.

Značaj vozila, razvit za zagotavljanje brezhibnega užitka v vožnji, ki temelji na športni zasnovi, živahnem pogonu in okretnosti, ki zariše nasmeh na obrazu, je glavni dejavnik izjemne priljubljenosti BMW Z4. Zaradi značajskih lastnosti si je BMW Z4 prislužil kopico zmag na primerjalnih testih, ki jih izvajajo priznane avtomobilistične revije. BMW Z4 je od trenutka, ko je bil predstavljen, vedno naletel na pozitiven odziv v medijih. Nemška avtomobilistična revija Auto, Motor und Sport ga je razglasila za »športni avto leta«, medtem ko so ga pri Auto Bild opisali kot »najbolj vroč kabriolet leta«. BMW Z4 se je izjemno odrezal tudi v javnih anketah. Bralci revije Motor Klassik so ga v letu 2019 okronali za »prihodnjo klasiko«. Poleg tega pa se je roadster odlično odrezal na številnih frontah v anketi bralcev Sport Auto, kjer je vsaka od treh različic osvojila nagrado Sport Auto.

Z mišičastimi sorazmerji, pristno estetiko, ki jo usmerja trenutni oblikovalski jezik BMW, in številnimi individualnimi podrobnostmi zunanjost BMW Z4 zaobjema sodobno interpretacijo klasičnega športnega avtomobila z odprto streho. Prepoznavni poudarki na sprednjem delu vključujejo velike odprtine za dovod zraka, LED-žaromete z navpično razporejenimi svetili, ki segajo do zunanjih robov, in dolg pokrov motorja, ki se razteza prek blatnikov. Najnovejše oblikovalske spremembe lepo poudarjajo širino roadsterja in njegovo močno držo.

Pri tem igrajo posebno pomembno vlogo zunanje funkcije paketa M Sport, ki je zdaj standardno na voljo tudi pri modelih s štirimi valji. Vključuje tridelne odprtine za zrak v podaljšanem sprednjem odbijaču, ki so znane od drugih M modelov, prepoznavne obrise bočnih pragov in podaljšan zadnji odbijač s poudarjenim robom na obeh straneh. Bočni odprtini za zrak, ki usmerjata zrak do zračnih zaves, kar zmanjšuje vrtinčenje zraka v območju blatnikov, sta bili prenovljeni. Podrobne posodobitve so bile narejene tudi pri oblikovanju ledvičke BMW, ki je znatno okrepila vizualni učinek. Zdaj ima vodoravno notranjo strukturo, ki poudarja vtis širokega sprednjega dela. Značaj BMW Z4 M40i, osredotočen na visoko zmogljivost, je poudarjen s funkcijami, vključno s pokrovi zunanjih ogledal v barvi Cerium Grey in zaključki izpušnih cevi trapezaste oblike za izpušni sistem.

K športni navzočnosti zunanjega videza BMW Z4 prispevajo tudi jasne površine bokov avtomobila z dvema dinamičnima značajskima linijama, veliki bočni reži za zrak za sprednjima blatnikoma, spojler, vgrajen v pokrov prtljažnika, tanke zadnje luči v obliki črke L in privlačen vložek difuzorja v zadnjem odbijaču. Klasično platneno streho roadsterja je mogoče upravljati električno. S pritiskom gumba se odpre ali zapre v desetih sekundah, tudi med vožnjo pri hitrosti do 50 km/h.

Ekskluzivna 19-palčna M lita alu platišča in tri nove barve zunanjosti.

Med novostmi standardne opreme so 18-palčna M lita alu platišča z dvojnimi kraki. Dvobarvna platišča so kombinirana s pnevmatikami različnih velikosti: 225/45 R18 spredaj in 255/40 R18 zadaj. Opcije, ki so zdaj na voljo kupcem, vključujejo M lita alu platišča v velikosti 19 palcev, zasnovana izključno za BMW Z4. Oblika V-krakov, barva Jet Black matiranega videza in diamantno polirani robovi platišč prinašajo nadvse osupljivo in prefinjeno avro pri pogledu roadsterja od strani. 19-palčna M lita alu platišča so kombinirana s pnevmatikami velikosti 255/35 ZR19 spredaj in 275/35 ZR19 zadaj.

Paleta zunanjih barvnih odtenkov za BMW Z4 je bila skrbno prenovljena, dodane pa so tudi nove in drzno izražene različice. Poleg kovinskih barv karoserije Thundernight, Portimao Blue in Skyscraper Grey, ki so prvič na voljo za roadster, so v izboru tudi štiri druge različice, ki zajemajo širok spekter med belo, črno, rdečo in sivo, vključno z lesketajočim lakiranjem BMW Individual v kovinski barvi Frozen Grey. Zložljiva platnena streha BMW Z4 bo še naprej na voljo v barvi Anthracite Silver Effect kot alternativa standardni črni barvi.

Novost na seznamu opcij so tudi M luči Shadow Line, ki jih je mogoče naročiti v kombinaciji s prav tako opcijskimi prilagodljivimi LED-žarometi. Temni vložki žarometov pomagajo vdihniti sprednjemu delu diskretno športno avro. Z opcijo zunanjosti M Shadow Line visokega sijaja z razširjeno vsebino pa tvorijo lično izbrano kompozicijo.

Kokpit klasičnega športnega avtomobila z M posebnostmi.

Oblikovanje notranjosti BMW Z4 zaznamujejo postavitev kokpita, usmerjenega k vozniku, športna sedeža z vgrajenima naslonoma za glavo, jasne linije v smeri naprej in precej zadržana uporaba okrasnih površin. BMW Z4 sDrive20i (kombinirana poraba goriva: 7,4–6,9 l/100 km; kombinirane emisije CO2: 166–157 g/km po voznem ciklu WLTP) je standardno na voljo z oblazinjenjem v usnju Vernasca, ki ga je mogoče izbrati v barvi Black, Ivory White, Cognac ali Magma Red. BMW Z4 M40i in BMW Z4 sDrive30i (kombinirana poraba goriva: 7,4–7,0 l/100 km; kombinirane emisije CO2: 167–159 g/km po voznem ciklu WLTP) imata standardno oblazinjenje v kombinaciji usnja in Alcantare z modrimi kontrastnimi šivi in obrobnimi trakovi. Notranjost BMW Z4 sDrive30i vključuje M usnjen volan, sedeža M Sport, M pedale in M podporo za voznikovo stopalo za dvig ravni športnega užitka v vožnji še eno zarezo višje. 

K temu je dodan še kokpit klasičnega športnega avtomobila, ki je zdaj v BMW Z4 sDrive30i združen z armaturno ploščo iz Sensateca. Ogrevanje sedežev, protivetrna zaščita, odlagalni paket, sistem za prevažanje daljših predmetov, nadzor razdalje pri parkiranju s senzorji spredaj in zadaj, samodejna zatemnitev vzvratnega ogledala in klimatska naprava z dvopodročnim upravljanjem so del standardne opreme pri vseh modelskih različicah. BMW Z4 M40i in BMW Z4 sDrive30i sta standardno opremljena z ambientalno razsvetljavo in M vstopnimi letvami. 

Motorji z visoko vrtilno frekvenco in prefinjena tehnologija podvozja.

Takojšen razvoj moči, izjemen apetit po visokih vrtljajih, zgledna učinkovitost in uglajen tek, po katerem je BMW znan, so značilnosti vseh treh bencinskih motorjev, ki so na voljo tudi za novi model BMW Z4. Štirivaljni motor, ki poganja BMW Z4 sDrive20i, je standardno kombiniran s šeststopenjskim ročnim menjalnikom. Vstopni model je mogoče opcijsko naročiti z osemstopenjskim športnim menjalnikom Steptronic, ki je del standardne specifikacije opreme pri močnejših motorizacijah v ponudbi. Športni menjalnik Steptronic je opremljen s prestavnima vzvodoma na volanu in funkcijo Launch Control za optimiziran pospešek z mirujočega starta.

Izjemen status BMW Z4, ko gre za tehnologijo pogonskega sklopa, je najvidneje poudarjen pri najzmogljivejšem modelu, katerega vrstni šestvaljnik s tehnologijo M TwinPower Turbo se ne more primerjati z nobenim motorjem tekmecev in kaže nedosegljive lastnosti visoke zmogljivosti. 3,0-litrski agregat z močjo 250 kW/340 KM razvije 500 Nm največjega navora, BMW Z4 M40i pa katapultira od 0 do 100 km/h v 4,5 sekunde. Štirivaljna motorja, oba z delovno prostornino dveh litrov in tehnologijo BMW TwinPower Turbo, prav tako izstopata s svojo živahnostjo. Motor v BMW Z4 sDrive30i proizvede največjo moč 190 kW/258 KM in 400 Nm največjega navora, kar omogoča pospešek od 0 do 100 km/h v 5,4 sekunde. Z največjo močjo 145 kW/197 KM in 320 Nm največjega navora se BMW Z4 sDrive20i požene z mesta do znamke 100 km/h v 6,8 sekunde (avtomatski menjalnik: 6,6 sekunde).

Skupaj s kompaktnimi sorazmerji, zmanjšano maso, nizkim težiščem in skoraj popolno razporeditvijo osne obremenitve v razmerju 50 : 50 izjemna togost karoserije, struktura podvozja in zelo učinkovita aerodinamika BMW Z4 zagotavljajo idealno platformo za športne vozne lastnosti, ki bodo zadovoljile še tako zahtevnega avtomobilskega navdušenca. Tehnologija podvozja, ki zagotavlja prepričljivo mešanico okretnosti in udobja, združuje sprednjo premo z vzmetnimi nogami z dvojnim zgibom in zadnjo premo s petimi vodili. Standardna specifikacija pri vseh različicah modela vključuje tudi spremenljivo športno krmiljenje.

Podvozje M Sport, ki je zdaj del standardne opreme za BMW Z4 sDrive30i, optimizira vozno dinamiko s tršo nastavitvijo blažilnikov in vzmeti. BMW Z4 M40i ima prilagodljivo M podvozje z elektronsko krmiljenimi blažilniki in, kot BMW Z4 sDrive30i, zavore M Sport z izbiro modrih ali rdečih zavornih sedel. Najzmogljivejši model je opremljen še z diferencialom M Sport na zadnji premi, za BMW Z4 sDrive30i pa ga je mogoče naročiti kot opcijo.

BMW Z4 kupcem ponuja množico najsodobnejših sistemov za pomoč vozniku, ki izboljšajo raven udobja in varnosti. Standardna specifikacija opreme vključuje opozorilo pred čelnim trkom s posegom zaviranja, opozorilo za zapustitev voznega pasu z aktivnim vračanjem na vozni pas in funkcijo Speed Limit Info s prikazom prepovedi prehitevanja. Med opcijami na dodatnem seznamu so aktivni asistent za uravnavanje hitrosti s funkcijo Stop & Go, opozorilo pred menjavo voznega pasu, opozorilo za preprečitev trka v zadek, opozorilo pred prečnim prometom, parkirni asistent in kamera asistenta za vzvratno vožnjo. Izbrati je mogoče tudi projektor BMW Head-Up, ki projicira podatke o vožnji na vetrobransko steklo. 

BMW Live Cockpit Professional zagotavlja intuitivno upravljanje in inteligentno povezljivost. Prinaša prilagodljive prikaze za popolnoma digitalno instrumentno ploščo in nadzorni prikazovalnik, oba z diagonalo 10,25 palca. Med njegovimi funkcijami so tudi navigacijski sistem v oblaku BMW Maps, multimedijski sistem, ki temelji na trdem disku, BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, integracija pametnih telefonov, dostopna točka Wi-Fi in alarmna naprava.

• Novo vozilo BMW Z4 je sodoben dodatek k dolgoletni zgodovini zapeljivih roadsterjev blagovne znamke. Dvosed s popolnoma električo zložjivo platneno streho. Korenito spremenjena razmerja, sredinski položj sedenja, krajš medosna razdalja za večo okretnost in šrš kolotečni od predhodnika. Ukrepi za zmanjšnje skupne mase in idealna porazdelitev tež v razmerju 50 : 50 med premama, aerodinamičo optimizirana karoserija.
• Zunanje oblikovanje z natančno uporabo oblik in različnimi značilnimi podrobnostmi blagovne znamke. Žarometa sta nameščena na zunanjih robovih sprednjega dela in prvič z navpično razporeditvijo. LED žarometi so na voljo standardno, prilagodljivi LED žarometi z matrično funkcijo za neslepečo dolgo luč in luči, ki sledijo obratu volana, pa izbirno. Velika maska v obliki dvojne ledvičke BMW ima novo mrežasto zasnovo. Širok pokrov motorja s poudarjenimi obrisnimi črtami zaobjema prednja koloteka. • Premierna predstavitev bo potekala v mesecu oktobru 2018 na parišem avtomobilskem salonu. Prihod na trg je napovedan za mesec marec 2019 v treh modelnih različcah: model BMW Z4 M40i BMW M Performance (kombinirana poraba goriva: 7,4 – 7,1 l/100 km; kombinirane emisije CO2: 168 – 162 g/km)* z novim vrstnim šstvaljnim motorjem z največo močo 250 kW/340 KM in modela BMW Z4 sDrive30i (kombinirana poraba goriva: 6,1 – 6,0 l/100 km; kombinirane emisije CO2: 139 – 137 g/km)* in Z4 sDrive20i (kombinirana poraba goriva: 6,1 – 6,0 l/100 km; kombinirane emisije CO2: 139 – 137 g/km)* s širivaljnima motorjema in največo močo 190 kW/258 KM oziroma 145 kW/197 KM. Nadalje izboljšn osemstopenjski šortni menjalnik Steptronic je vgrajen standardno. Vsi motorji imajo bencinski filter za trdne delce in emisije ter so v skladu s standardom Euro 6d-TEMP.
• Novi roadster je zasnovan s poudarkom na največji okretnosti, dinamičnosti in natančnosti krmiljenja. Nizko težišče. Izjemno toga struktura karoserije in pritrdilni elementi šasije. •  Največa izbira sistemov za pomočvozniku v razredu: opozorilo pred naletom in o zaznanem pešu s funkcijo zaviranja v mestu je standardno, prav tako kot sistem za opozarjanje pred zapustitvijo voznega pasu. Na voljo kot izbirne možosti: aktivni asistent za uravnavanje hitrosti s funkcijo Stop&Go, prepoznavanje prometnih znakov, informacije o razdalji, sistem za opozarjanje pri menjavi voznega pasu, opozorilo za preprečtev trka v zadek in opozorilo za preči promet, aktivni nadzor razdalje pri parkiranju, kamera za vzvratno vožjo, parkirni asistent s samodejnim vzdolžnim in stranskim vodenjem vozila pri manevriranju v parkirne prostore in iz njih ter pomočnik za vzvratno vožnjo. BMW Head-Up projektor je prvič na voljo v roadsterju.
• Intuitivno upravljanje in inteligentna povezljivost zahvaljujočBMW operacijskemu sistemu 7.0. Izbirni BMW Live Cockpit Professional z dosledno oblikovanimi, kontekstno zasnovanimi in prilagodljivimi grafikami na popolnoma digitalni instrumentni plošč in nadzornem prikazovalniku (oba z diagonalo zaslona 10,25 palcev). Večodalno upravljanje prek funkcionalnosti zaslona na dotik na nadzornem prikazovalniku, upravljalnika iDrive, gumbov na volanu ali glasovnega upravljanja.
• Raznolika ponudba digitalnih storitev iz BMW ConnectedDrive: navigacijski zemljevid in programske posodobitve prek zraka (OTA). Opozorila o nevarnosti uporabljajo medsebojno povezljivost z drugimi vozili BMW. BMW Digital Key pa omogoč dostop do vozila in zagon motorja kar s pametnega telefona.
