Munich. The BMW Group and E.ON are working together to integrate the electric car into the home and the intelligent energy system of the future.

As a first step, the strategic cooperation now makes it possible to set up a charging ecosystem in customers' homes that intelligently and automatically integrates BMW and MINI vehicles into the building's PV power generation and household consumers.
The "Connected Home Charging" package can be ordered for all electric BMW and MINI vehicles (BEV+PHEV) directly via the vehicle configurator on the internet. (www.bmw.de; www.mini.de) Pilot markets are Germany, Italy, Denmark, Norway and Sweden. Customers here can conveniently obtain all components and services from a single provider.

The core elements of the solution are the BMW / MINI Wallbox Plus as an intelligent charge point a smart meter with back-end connection as a basis for all Connected Home Charging services, and all installation and set up work by E.ON. Customers can make system settings intuitively in the familiar MyBMW App or MINI App.

The digital and automated control of energy flows allows residents of buildings with PV power generation to benefit from lower charging costs and increase their level of self-sufficiency, while the optimised use of green energy contributes to climate protection.

The price of the Connected Home Charging package for customers in Germany, depending on installation is €1,769 including VAT. After 3 years, the smart services can be extended via the BMW / MINI Connected Drive Store.

The Connected Home Charging package can also be ordered for BMW i4, i5, i7, iX1, iX2, iX3, iX, MINI Cooper SE, MINI Countryman SE and all BMW / MINI plug-in hybrids delivered before April 2024 via all BMW / MINI retailers.

Home and electric car as a shared energy ecosystem 

With the Connected Home Charging Package from BMW and E.ON, for example, solar surplus charging can be used: The electric car can be charged with the energy produced on the roof.

"Together with E.ON, we are making the car a key element of the smart home, with BMW and MINI electric cars at its heart. This brings balance to the private energy ecosystem, reducing energy costs for our customers and improving their carbon footprint by optimising the use of green energy. The cooperation will also enable us to integrate intelligently into the energy market in the future," says Dominik Becks, Head of New Business Areas for Energy Services at the BMW Group.

"Because green driving doesn't work without green charging, I'm delighted that we are working with BMW to offer drivers of electric BMWs and MINIs not only energy management but also solar charging as a first step. This will allow drivers to choose whether they want to charge their cars using their own solar power. According to our survey, 67 percent of electric car drivers in Germany, who live in their own house, have a solar system. So we are convinced that our joint Connected Home Charging solution can offer many people added value for even more efficient energy use," says Mathias Wiecher, CCO of E.ON Drive.

Joint implementation of bidirectional charging

As part of the cooperation between BMW and E.ON, more features will be implemented in the future. This includes cost-optimised charging, which allows customers to participate in price trends on the electricity market, in order to charge at particularly low prices at certain times. With the BMW New Class from 2025, the Connected Home Charging offer will also be extended to include bi-directional charging. This technology allows customers to use the high-voltage battery of the electric vehicle as a storage unit and later feed the stored electricity back into the grid or use it in their own household.

BMW / MINI Charging: Charging on the go with convenience, transparency and high network coverage.

In addition to intelligent solutions for home charging, customers can also rely on convenient solutions from BMW / MINI Charging when charging on the go. The main advantage is the attractive kilowatt-hour prices for AC and DC charging in the Active tariff in Europe, regardless of the charging infrastructure operator and regardless of the price displayed at the charging station.

The High Power Charging network of the BMW Group subsidiary IONITY is also integrated into the BMW charging network.

With just one registration, BMW / MINI Charging offers access to more than 588,000 public charging points in 29 countries in Europe alone. With coverage of more than 95 percent of all public charging networks, BMW / MINI Charging is one of the top providers.

BMW / MINI Charging customers worldwide have access to more than two million charging points, in collaboration with international partners.

The Multi Contract function is groundbreaking and unique. Customers can store up to five individual Plug & Charge-capable traction current contracts from different providers digitally in the vehicle. The authentication required for the charging process and billing takes place automatically at compatible charging points.

Bled, marec 2024.  V sklopu regijske medijske predstavitve je na Bledu potekala predstavitev druge generacije BMW X2, ki je od zdaj na voljo tudi s popolnoma električnim pogonom kot BMW iX2, novega modela MINI Countryman ter električnega BMW CE 02, ki s svojim električnim pogonom dosledno sledi svoji strategiji električne mobilnosti. Kot prvi so se z novimi modeli spoznali slovenski in hrvaški novinarji, v nadaljevanju tedna pa se bodo predstavitve udeležili tudi novinarji in vplivneži iz Avstrije, Bolgarije, Madžarske, Poljske ter Slovaške.

Užitek v vožnji  z edinstveno uporabniško izkušnjo.

Udeleženci dogodka so se tekom dneva za volanom spoznali z BMW iX2, BMW X2 M35i xDrive ter modeloma MINI Countryman C in JCW. Ob tem so izkusili vozno dinamiko ter užitek v vožnji na zavitih regionalnih cestah s pogledi na čudovito pokrajino Gorenjske. Pot jih je vodila po osrčju Julijskih Alp, kjer so izkusili tudi edinstveno vožnjo z avtovlakom in se od bližje spoznali z naprednimi digitalnimi funkcijami in asistenčnimi sistemi, ki jih ponujajo predstavljeni modeli. Največjemu članu družine MINI se je na predstavitvi statično pridružil tudi manjši 3-vratni električni MINI Cooper, ki v svoji peti generaciji nadaljuje pot znamke v obdobje električne mobilnosti brez lokalnih emisij.

Druga generacija BMW X2 - zdaj na voljo tudi s popolnoma električnim pogonom kot BMW iX2.

BMW X2 se kot športni terenski kupe ponaša s še bolj športno zasnovo, usmerjeno v prihodnost. Predstavljajo ga proporci in dinamične linije, ki so zdaj še bolj razpoznavni od kompaktnega terenca X1 in predstavljajo pravi karakter s tipično silhueto in vpadljivim videzom zadnjega dela z izrazitimi izbočenimi blatniki in spojlerjem. Sodobna zasnova notranjosti je osredotočena na voznika s poudarkom na asistenčnih sistemih in inovativnih digitalnih storitvah, kot so novi BMW iDrive s QuickSelect in BMW Operating System 9 vključno z BMW Digital Premium.

BMW X2 je prvič na voljo v povsem električni različici kot BMW iX2, ki zagotavlja užitek v vožnji brez lokalnih emisij. Poleg električne različice je s širokim naborom različic pogonskih sistemov na voljo tudi model BMW X2 M35i xDrive M Performance s še eno bencinsko različico in enim modelom z dizelskim motorjem.

MINI Countryman - popolnoma električen in pustolovski.

Največji model nove družine MINI vozil predstavlja MINI Countryman, ki je v svoji tretji generaciji na voljo v povsem električni izvedbi. Z dodatnimi šestimi centimetri višine in trinajstimi centimetri dolžine je novi MINI Countryman opazno zrasel v primerjavi s svojim predhodnikom ter ponuja še več prostora in udobja V notranjosti je vsestranski novi MINI Countryman največji in najprostornejši model MINI, ki z jasnim in sodobnim oblikovanjem predstavlja sodobno, digitalno in nezamenljivo obliko nove generacije MINI.  Countryman omogoča širok nabor MINI Experience Modes, ki maksimirajo možnosti za individualizacijo notranjosti s pomočjo svetlobnih projekcij, prilagodljivega uporabniškega vmesnika in novih zvokov motorja. Visokoresolucijski zaslon OLED predstavlja velik preskok v digitalno dobo, ki skupaj z MINI Operating System 9 in prvim pametnim MINI osebnim pomočnikom postavlja uporabniško izkušnjo na višji nivo.

BMW CE 02 – simbol za popolnoma nov slog mobilnosti.

Z novim BMW CE 02 BMW Motorrad približno dve leti po CE 04 predstavlja še enega predstavnika  e-vozil za urbana naselja in tako dosledno sledi svoji strategiji električne mobilnosti. Zahvaljujoč svojemu električnemu pogonu in oblikovalski zasnovi je e-Parkourer dinamičen sopotnik za novo vrsto mobilnosti, ki zagotavlja veliko užitka pri vožnji v urbanem okolju. Eparkourer ne navdušuje le z odličnim dizajnom, saj ponuja tudi številne tehnične posebnosti, kot so vožnja brez ključa, asistent za vzvratno vožnjo, polnilna vtičnica USB-C s funkcijo napajanja pametnega telefona, TFT zaslon s podatki o hitrosti vožnje ter stanju baterije, idr. Zaradi majhne teže in nizke višine sedeža je BMW CE 02 zelo okretno vodljiv, brez potrebe velikih izkušenj z motocikli. Na voljo je v dveh različicah, in sicer z 11kW ter 4Kw, slednja pa omogoča vožnjo z običajnim vozniškim dovoljenjem oziroma pri 15 letih z vozniškim dovoljenjem AM v večini evropskih držav.

Bucharest. Legendary victories in the Monte Carlo Rally or the Dakar Rally – the MINI image is defined by bold performances in motorsport and pioneering projects. Now, Racing MIMI, the first electric MINI racing car in history, after three years of work and adventure, makes a unique contribution from Romania to this tradition.

Racing MIMI, prepared by the Engage Engineering team from Romania, has achieved a highly significant historic milestone: it is the first electric car to win a national title in direct competition with internal combustion engine cars – a victory in Class 2A (front-wheel drive) in the National Super Rally Championship.

The most beautiful victories are those achieved against formidable competition. Racing MIMI was raced by Horia Platona directly against experience drivers with high-performance internal combustion engine cars, factory produced models such as R2, Rally 4, or TCR cars. This meant that the main competitors had much more powerful cars (even double the power of the MINI Cooper SE) and a significantly better power-to-weight ratio. On the other hand, Racing MIMI benefited from exemplary preparation by Engage Engineering, including unique developments such as the limited-slip differential, significant weight reduction, and additional cooling systems. It is worth noting that Racing MIMI remains a MINI Cooper SE, with the electric propulsion system, battery, and motor, in its street version, with a maximum power of 184 HP.

The closely contested battle ensured a spectacular show. The class champion was decided in the last timed round of the competition, with Horia and Racing MIMI finishing in first place in the standings with a total of 89 points, just 1 point ahead of second place.

The National Super Rally Championship hosted a total of six stages held on street circuits in cities across Romania. After five races with two third-place finishes, Racing MIMI was consistently in the top three in the Class 2A standings. Before the final stage, it was in third place, six points behind the leader. The competition was tight, and theoretically, at least four drivers had a chance at the title. In the final confrontation of the season, in the UniCredit Leasing Trophy in Bucharest on November 4th, Horia needed a strong performance for victory.

The race in Bucharest was marked by very difficult weather conditions with many hours of rain. This mitigated the power differences and favored highly maneuverable cars, providing an opportunity for the Racing MIMI team. The practice sessions, prematurely interrupted due to repeated accidents and difficult conditions, ended with an extraordinary performance by Horia - third place in the overall standings. It's worth noting that Horia was one of the few drivers to complete two practice rounds. Due to the water-covered track, there were several accidents and retirements, with open-top models being the most affected. Any result seemed possible.

The competition rounds took place with the rain gradually decreasing in intensity, although conditions remained very difficult. The improving weather led to an increased pace of the competition. This put more pressure on the drivers and added excitement for the fans.

Horia Platona adopted a slightly cautious pace in the first round and pushed harder in the second, achieving a very valuable performance. His time of 2:29.204 secured second place in the class and ninth place overall, surpassing many significant competitors with highly competitive models – from two-seaters that had the most trouble on the wet, to Mitsubishi Lancer Evo, Audi R8, or Ferrari 458.

This was Racing MIMI's best result in the history of the championship, which earned them their first points in the Open standings and a second-place ranking in the class. The result was enough for the championship title with only one point lead.

Art for Motorsport

At the last race of the season, Racing MIMI presented another first – a new art project on the roof developed in collaboration with Galateca Gallery. Throughout the project's history, it has received several roof art projects, which were then showcased in motorsport competitions, earning it the title of "the fastest art gallery in the world." This time, MIMI served as a canvas for artist Mihai Zgondoiu. For the project, Mihai used spray and markers in a language reminiscent of street art. The color scheme was inspired by the car, dominated by blue in the front, with yellow decorative elements and orange decals for the driver's name and competition number. The artwork also featured concepts and ideas from Mihai's artistic repertoire, including flames evoking energy in competitions and stylized extraterrestrial forms with large, elongated vertical eyes, alluding to the car's unique presence in races.

Racing MIMI's Partners

Textar is the latest partner to collaborate with the Racing MIMI team. Since 1913, Textar has been one of the most important brake product suppliers for a wide range of cars. Now, the company supports the MIMI team on one of the few components that wear out and require regular service.

Racing MIMI is supported in 2023 by a range of strong partners. UniCredit Leasing, a financier of BMW Financial Services and MINI Financial Services, with significant involvement in Romanian motorsport, is the main partner of the project. Michelin supports the project and equips MIMI with Michelin Pilot Sport and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires for various demonstrations and street competitions. Renovatio, with e-charge, the largest charging station network in Romania, provides charging solutions.

Starting this year, Samsung becomes an important partner, supporting MIMI's communication, while the brand's equipment helps document the project with spectacular photo and video materials using Samsung S23's high-performance cameras.

Enviro, a partner of HBK and Brüel & Kjær companies, is a Romanian company that offers professional sound measurement services. This partnership aims to explore the theme of electric motorsport and its impact, especially in the context of urban competitions.

About Racing MIMI

The first electric MINI in history entered its third competitive season. Built on a production model, using the standard motor and battery, MIMI received a series of performance enhancements from the Engage Engineering team in Brașov, marking the improvements with the name "Racing MIMI EVO." These include a substantial weight reduction of approximately 230 kg (including fiberglass doors and frameless plexiglass), additional carbon dioxide ice cooling system, and a front limited-slip differential developed in collaboration with Drexler.
