BMW M GmbH presenteert de BMW M6 Coupé Competition Edition. Deze exclusieve uitvoering debuteert op de internationale autoshow van Frankfurt (IAA), die van 17 t/m 27 september 2015 plaatsvindt. De BMW M6 Coupé Competition Edition benadrukt zijn status als high-performance coupé met een krachtigere M TwinPower Turbo motor en keuze uit speciale exterieurlakken, onderdelen van CFRP, exclusieve lederen bekleding met contrasterende stiksels en andere bijzondere details.

De speciale Competition Edition is uitsluitend leverbaar als BMW M6 Coupé met het Competition Package. De 4,4-liter V8 met M TwinPower Turbo techniek levert een vermogen van 441 kW (600 pk) en een maximumkoppel van 700 Nm. In combinatie met het optionele Driver’s Package haalt hij een topsnelheid van 305 km/u. Het brandstofverbruik is vastgesteld op 9,9 l/100 km, met een bijbehorende CO2-uitstoot van 231 g/km (NEDC).

Er is keuze uit twee exclusieve exterieurkleuren: Alpine White en Austin Yellow metallic. In Alpine White is de BMW M6 Coupé Competition Edition voorzien van opvallende striping in de kenmerkende BMW M-kleuren, net als de raceversie van de BMW M6 GT3.

De matzwarte, lichtmetalen 20-inch M-wielen met dubbele spaken (type 343 M) vormen een smaakvolle combinatie met beide exterieurkleuren. Behalve de grille zijn ook de deurgrepen en de ‘kieuwen’ op de voorschermen uitgevoerd in black chrome, terwijl de buitenspiegelkappen zijn gemaakt van koolstofvezel. Hetzelfde materiaal is gebruikt voor de BMW M-achterspoiler en de diffusor die de aerodynamica optimaliseren.

Het exclusieve karakter van de Competition Edition komt ook tot uiting in het interieur. De zwarte BMW Individual fine-grain Merino-lederen bekleding is voorzien van contrasterend stiksel in Opal White voor de versie in Alpine White en in Yellow met de carrosseriekleur Austin Yellow metallic. Verder onderscheidt het model zich door de metalen ‘M6 Competition’-belettering op de dorpels, de kieuwen en de deksel van de bekerhouders. De sierstrips in het interieur, de pookknop en de spaken van het M-sportstuur zijn van lichtgewicht koolstofvezel, terwijl het stuurwiel is bekleed met Alcantara voor extra grip.

De standaarduitrusting van de BMW M6 Coupé Competition Edition omvat onder meer multifunctionele M sportstoelen voorin en de BMW Head-Up Display. Voor een intense geluidssensatie is het model leverbaar met een Harman Kardon Surround Sound System of een state-of-the-art 1.200 watt audiosysteem van Bang & Olufsen met zestien speakers.

Het Competition Edition-pakket voor de BMW M6 Coupé is er voor prijzen vanaf € 17.700. Klanten die hun BMW M6 willen aankleden met Competition Edition-opties kunnen, ter aanvulling op het Competition Package (€ 9.500), kiezen voor de matzwarte 20-inch lichtmetalen M-wielen (€ 400), de multifunctionele voorstoelen (€ 1.950) en het rokerspakket (€ 50). Het audiosysteem van Harman Kardon kost € 1.290 en dat van Bang & Olufsen € 4.950.

Met de Paasraces startte traditioneel het nieuwe autosportseizoen op Circuit Park Zandvoort. Tegelijkertijd werd de nieuwe ‘Safety Car’ op het circuit in gebruik genomen: een BMW M6 Coupé. De basiskleur is wit in combinatie met de bekende huiskleuren van BMW Motorsport: lichtblauw, donkerblauw en rood. De ‘Safety Car’ wordt tijdens nagenoeg alle evenementen op Circuit Park Zandvoort ingezet door de wedstrijdleiding om de maximale veiligheid van de deelnemers in geval van calamiteiten te kunnen waarborgen.

Intensief betrokken
BMW Nederland levert al jarenlang snelle auto’s voor de wedstrijdleiding van Circuit Park Zandvoort. Een bewijs van de jarenlange intensieve betrokkenheid van de Nederlandse BMW-importeur bij de nationale autorensportaccommodatie. In het verleden deden de BMW M3 Coupé en de BMW M 235i op Circuit Park Zandvoort dienst als ‘Safety Car’. Met de nieuwe M6 Coupé heeft de wedstrijdleiding op Circuit Park Zandvoort nu de beschikking over een even fraaie als krachtige nieuwe sportwagen. Eind vorig jaar kondigde BMW Motorsport al aan een wedstrijdversie van de M6 Coupé te ontwikkelen volgens de internationaal geldende GT3-reglementen. Inmiddels is het testprogramma met deze auto in volle gang. Of daarbij ook de ervaringen met de ‘Safety Car’ op Circuit Park Zandvoort worden meegenomen, kan niet met zekerheid worden gezegd, maar feit is in ieder geval dat de bestuurder van de M6 dankzij de 560 pk sterke 4,4-liter V8-biturbomotor onder alle omstandigheden voldoende kracht aan boord heeft.

Safety Car voor assistentie
Al in 1911 werd in Amerika onder de aanduiding ‘Pace Car’ een productieauto gebruikt om assistentie te verlenen tijdens de eerste editie van de 500-mijlsrace van Indianapolis. In de Formule 1 was er pas in 1973 voor het eerst sprake van een ‘Safety Car’. Sindsdien is het fenomeen in vrijwel elke raceklasse gemeengoed geworden. Mocht zich tijdens een race een ongeval voordoen, dan kan de ‘Safety Car’ na een beslissing van de wedstrijdleiding in actie komen. Deze auto voert dan het veld aan en leidt de deelnemers op gematigde snelheid aan de plaats van het ongeval voorbij, zodat de betrokken voertuigen snel kunnen worden verwijderd en indien nodig hulp kan worden verleend aan de coureurs.

Rijswijk. BMW presenteert de nieuwe BMW M6 Coupé, BMW M6 Cabrio en BMW M6 Gran Coupé. Het drietal vormt de benchmark in het segment van de luxueuze high-performance automobiel. Hun 4,4-liter V8-benzinemotor met TwinPower Turbo techniek levert 412 kW (560 pk) tussen 6.000 en 7.000 tpm. Het maximumkoppel van 680 Nm is beschikbaar over een breed toerengebied (1.500-5.750 tpm). Daarmee accelereren de BMW M6 Coupé en BMW M6 Gran Coupé in 4,2 seconden naar 100 km/u. Voor wie er prijs op stelt af en toe open te rijden: de BMW M6 Cabrio opent zijn stoffen kap in 4,3 seconden. De topsnelheid van het trio is begrensd op 250 km/u. De nieuwe BMW M6 Coupé, BMW M6 Cabrio en BMW M6 Gran Coupé gaan in maart 2015 in productie en zijn per 16 december te configureren in de Online Assistant.

Het brandstofverbruik en de CO2-uitstoot van de nieuwe BMW M6 Coupé en
BMW 6 Gran Coupé bedragen gemiddeld 9,9 l/100 km en 231 g/km. (BMW M6 Cabrio: 10,3 l/100 km en 239 g/km). Deze cijfers onderbouwen de uitstekende efficiency van de 4.4 V8. De geavanceerde benzinemotor is voorzien van onder meer Twin Scroll-turbotechniek, High Precision Injection, dubbele VANOS en VALVETRONIC. Turbine-achtige aandrijving.
Het vermogen van de nieuwe BMW M6 Coupé, BMW M6 Cabrio en BMW M6 Gran Coupé wordt naar de achterwielen geleid door een automatische M DCT 7-trapstransmissie met dubbele koppeling en Drivelogic. De transmissie zorgt voor een turbine-achtige aandrijving, zonder dat het schakelen ook maar één keer de vermogensopbouw onderbreekt. De bestuurder kan met schakelflippers aan het stuurwiel de automaat ook zelf bedienen. Het standaard Active M Differential verdeelt de aandrijfkrachten optimaal over de achterwielen om hun grip onder alle omstandigheden te waarborgen.    

Competition Package voor extra sportiviteit.
Voor de extra sportief ingestelde automobilist levert BMW de nieuwe BMW M6 Coupé, BMW M6 Cabrio en BMW M6 Gran Coupé optioneel met het Competition Package. Hiermee stijgt het vermogen van de V8 naar een overweldigende 423 kW (575 pk) tussen 6.000 en 7.000 tpm. Het maximumkoppel blijft gelijk (680 Nm) maar is tot 6.000 tpm beschikbaar. Met het Competition Package is de acceleratie naar 100 km/u nog een tiende van een seconde sneller.

De BMW M6 Coupé, BMW M6 Cabrio en BMW M6 Gran Coupé zijn te herkennen aan hun sportuitlaatsysteem met in glimmend zwart uitgevoerde einddempers en exclusieve lichtmetalen 20-inchwielen. Bovendien wordt de bestuurder getrakteerd op een nog directer stuurgevoel en een speciale afstelling van het onderstel.

München/Rijswijk. BMW presenteert de nieuwe M6 Coupé en M6 Cabriolet. Op topprestaties afgestemde technologie vindt daarmee zijn weg in het atletische design van de eerder gelanceerde nieuwe BMW 6 Serie. Motor, aandrijving en het op het circuit gerijpte onderstel zijn gelijk aan die van de dynamische BMW M5. De BMW M6 is bovendien leverbaar met een nieuw ontwikkeld lichtgewicht remsysteem met carbon-keramische remschijven. Een andere noviteit is het lichte, met koolstofvezel, fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP), versterkte kunststoffen dak voor de M6 Coupé. Tot de innovaties in de standaarduitrusting behoren tevens adaptieve Led-koplampen.         

De BMW M6 wordt aangedreven door dezelfde krachtige – grotendeels aluminium – V8-motor met een hoogtoerig karakter als de BMW M5. Munich. BMW M GmbH has announced the end of production of the BMW M6 Coupé and the BMW M6 Convertible. The two high-performance models provide the most exclusive opportunity to experience on normal roads the hallmark athleticism of M vehicles combined with drive and chassis technology inspired by the world of motor racing. In total 14,152 examples of these high-performance sports cars were built: 9,087 units of the Coupé, which launched in 2005; and 5,065 Convertible models, presented the following year.

With the departure of these two fascinating and exceptional athletes and the already discontinued fourth-generation BMW M5, production will now also cease for the unique V10 high-rev engine. For years the 373 kW/507 hp powerplant has set the benchmark for delivering sheer power in cars that are both highly dynamic in character and symbolic of the outstanding expertise of BMW M GmbH in developing high-performance engines. For two years in succession, 2005 and 2006, the ten-cylinder unit took overall victory in the prestigious Engine of the Year Award, and in the two years that followed achieved first place on each occasion in the category for engines with displacement above 4 litres.

The stand-out feature of this unique engine, developed exclusively for the BMW M5 and BMW M6 models, is power delivery that is both extremely dynamic and smooth even at higher loads. Output is developed from a 5-litre displacement split between ten combustion chambers, with the two banks of cylinders cranked at 90 degrees to one another. The engine delivers maximum output at 7,750 rpm, with engine speed eventually peaking at 8,250 rpm, and it has maximum torque of 520 Nm. In addition to the high-rev concept, a number of other technological details – electronically-controlled individual throttle valves, an ionic current control system and lateral force-controlled oil supply – were also directly derived from motor racing.

In much the same way, design principles of chassis technology and lightweight construction also found their way from the race track to the road. In the case of the BMW M6 Coupé, for example, carbon fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) – a material that largely owes its introduction in the automotive sector to Formula One – was used in both the roof and bumper design. Its power-to-weight ratio of 3.37 kilograms per hp is another unbeatable key indicator in the profile of the BMW M6 Coupé. Moreover, its outstanding performance characteristics are additionally supported by seven-speed SMG Drivelogic and Launch Control for maximum acceleration from a standing start, the speed-sensitive variable M differential lock, and model-specific chassis technology, including Electronic Damper Control (EDC) and compound brakes. Standstill to 100 km/h acceleration time is a mere 4.6 seconds. The BMW M6 Convertible takes just 0.2 seconds longer, giving the driver time to appreciate not only the thrilling dynamic performance but also the irresistible flair of an open-top premium sports car in the luxury class.

The BMW M6 Coupé and BMW M6 Convertible received worldwide acclaim as dream cars for automotive enthusiasts with sporting ambitions. The number one market for both models was the US, which recorded sales of 3,528 closed and 3,247 open-top vehicles, followed by Germany (1,183 / 541 units). In third position for sales of the BMW M6 Coupé came Great Britain and Ireland, with 619 vehicle registrations; in the case of the BMW M6 Convertible it was Canada, with 209 units sold.

Sales of the BMW M5 followed a similar pattern. The United States once again came out on top, with sales of 8,786 vehicles. Then, after the domestic market of Germany (2,473 units), Great Britain and Ireland generated the next highest demand on the continent of Europe, with 1,980 vehicles. In total the BMW M5 recorded global sales of over 20,000 cars in under five years, with current figures of 19,494 units for the BMW M5 Saloon and a further 1,009 units for the BMW M5 Touring, available since 2007.

The total combined figures for the fourth-generation BMW M5 exceed even those of its predecessor model, which was in production for six years. With that it has secured the current high point in the success story of the BMW M5, the first generation of which established the vehicle segment of high-performance saloons at its introduction in 1984.

Munich. Riders with the fastest time on the racing circuit will be rewarded
with a fast car to take home with them. This year, BMW is donating two awesome
new M automobiles, the BMW M Award, as prizes for the best MotoGP riders
participating in the Motorcycle Road Racing World Championship. The rider
achieving fastest time in the MotoGP tests being held in Barcelona/Spain on 5
March 2006 will win a BMW Z4 M Roadster. A BMW Z4 M Coupe will go to the MotoGP
rider with the fastest overall time from all qualifying rounds at the last
world championship leg in Valencia/Spain on October 29.

Moreover, BMW will again be supplying the Safety Cars for the Motorcycle Road
Racing World Championship for the next four years, thereby continuing its
commitment which began in 1999. In addition to four further BMW automobiles, a
