Sheer driving pleasure has always been baked into the BMW brand’s DNA. The BMW Z4 is a prime example: truly exhilarating roadster fun. Since the start of the first model generation in 2002, this open-top sports car has been wowing customers with its unique combination of peerless design, a purist driving experience and sporty dynamics. The upcoming BMW Z4 Final Edition provides fans with a time-limited opportunity to order a very special version of this vehicle – one that may well become a collectors’ item. It comes with specific equipment elements that create individual highlights on the outside as well as in the interior. At the same time, the Final Edition represents this iconic two‑seater’s crowning glory. Production of the BMW Z4 will come to an end in March 2026.

Customers will have a short order window for the BMW Z4 Final Edition, beginning in late January 2026.

Distinctive looks for an unmistakeable personality.

The distinguishing exterior feature of the BMW Z4 Final Edition is its exclusive Frozen Matt Black paint finish. This colour, which underlines the model’s individual and dynamic flair, is only available for the Final Edition of the BMW Z4. It looks particularly impressive when combined with the M High-gloss Shadowline exterior trim, which is part of all Final Edition models. In addition to Frozen Matt Black, customers can select other colours from the BMW Z4 range, at no extra cost. The M Sport brake in High-gloss Red is also included with the BMW Z4 Final Edition. It impresses with particularly effective deceleration and attractive looks.

The distinctive contrasting red seams selected especially for the Final Edition provide a literal common thread which, in this case, ties together the instrument panel, centre console, door trims and M Sport seats in Vernasca

The Final Edition is available for the 145 kW/197 hp BMW Z4 sDrive20i (WLTP combined (EnVKV): fuel consumption 7.4–7.3 litres/100 km; CO₂ emissions: 166–164 g/km, CO₂ class F)* as well as the BMW Z4 sDrive30i delivering 190 kW/258 hp of power (WLTP combined (EnVKV): fuel consumption 7.4 litres/100 km; CO₂ emissions: 167 g/km, CO₂ class F)*. The Edition also extends to the range-topping BMW Z4 M40i (WLTP combined (EnVKV): fuel consumption 8.7–8.0 litres/100 km; CO₂ emissions: 197–181 g/km, CO₂ class G)* powered by a 250 kW/340 hp six-cylinder in-line engine.

Offered for all models regardless of the transmission selected, the Final Edition trim level costs 4.270 € (VAT incl). It requires the M Sport package already included as standard in the BMW Z4 sDrive30i and BMW Z4 M40i. With the BMW Z4 sDrive20i, the Final Edition is charged at 7.525 € (VAT incl), as the M Sport package is not part of the standard equipment for this engine variant and is therefore added to the vehicle at the usual cost of 3.255 € (VAT incl).

The history of the BMW Z4: Launch of the first generation in 2002.

The BMW Z4 is part of a long-standing BMW tradition of open-top two‑seater sports cars. This successful lineage includes icons such as the BMW 328 Roadster, the BMW 507 and the BMW Z8.

The BMW Z4 had its premiere in autumn 2002, as the direct successor to the BMW Z3 launched in 1995. And, like its predecessor, the BMW roadster known internally as the E85 series was produced at the BMW Plant Spartanburg in the US state of South Carolina.  

With its long bonnet and short rear, the design of the BMW Z4 signalled power and sporting prowess. In the cabin, the low seating position just in front of the rear axle made for an unforgettable roadster driving experience. The BMW Z4 set new standards with a torsional stiffness previously unmatched in the convertible and roadster segment. Its supreme agility was also due to its 50/50 weight distribution. The BMW Z4 M Roadster was the first generation’s range-topper. Fitted with the 252 kW/343 hp six-cylinder in-line engine from the BMW M3, it accelerated from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.0 seconds.

The second BMW Z4 generation: Unchanged dynamic appeal, electro-hydraulic retractable hardtop as standard.

In December 2008 BMW introduced the second generation of the Z4 to the world. The new two-seater known internally as the E89 model series again combined classic proportions with leading-edge engineering.

It came with a completely new, electro-hydraulically retractable hardtop made up of two roof sections. Featuring an aluminium shell design, the hardtop was included as standard and could be opened or closed at the touch of a button in just 20 seconds. With the hardtop in place, the BMW Z4 offered the refined comfort of a sporty premium coupé. The interior of the new BMW Z4 had gained much over the first-generation model in terms of headroom and elbow room. In addition, this marked the first time the roadster used the BMW iDrive infotainment system.

The third-generation BMW Z4: Modern interpretation of the classic open-top sports car.

BMW premiered the third – and current – generation of the BMW Z4 in August 2018 at Pebble Beach Golf Links near Monterey, California. The BMW Z4 world premiere revealed a modern interpretation of the classic open-top sports car. A premium roadster boasting an electrically operated fabric softtop, sporty handling and a purist, driver-focused interior design. This was complemented by premium-quality driver assistance, infotainment and connectivity features. Unparalleled in this segment is the three-litre straight-six engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology in the BMW Z4 M40i, which has been offered with a manual transmission since 2024 as the Pure Impulse Edition. The Final Edition will be the pinnacle of the third-generation BMW Z4.

Dit nieuwe aanbod aan de top van het modelgamma geeft de krachtigste versie van de roadster de ideale instrumenten om zijn populariteit verder te verhogen. Tot dusver koos bijna de helft van alle Duitse klanten voor de topversie van de BMW Z4. Zijn zescilinder-in-lijn is een unieke verkooptroef in een felbevochten segment dat enkel door Duitse premium merken wordt bezet. Het BMW M model was de laatste tijd goed voor meer dan 30 procent van het wereldwijde verkoopvolume van de roadster.

De vraag naar de BMW Z4 is verder verdeeld over twee modelvarianten die worden aangedreven door uitzonderlijk efficiënte viercilindermotoren met BMW TwinPower Turbo-technologie. De motor onder de kap van de BMW Z4 sDrive20i (brandstofverbruik gecombineerd: 7,4 – 7,1 l/100 km; CO₂-uitstoot gecombineerd: 167 – 159 g/km volgens de WLTP-cyclus) genereert een maximumvermogen van 145 kW/197 pk en is standaard gekoppeld aan een handgeschakelde zesversnellingsbak. Het basismodel is optioneel verkrijgbaar met een achttraps sportversnellingsbak Steptronic die standaard wordt gemonteerd op de 190 kW/258 pk sterke BMW Z4 sDrive30i (brandstofverbruik gecombineerd: 7,4 – 7,0 l/100 km; CO₂-uitstoot gecombineerd: 167 – 159 g/km volgens de WLTP-cyclus) en ook standaard blijft op de BMW Z4 M40i die niet over de Pure Impulse-specificaties beschikt (brandstofverbruik gecombineerd: 8,0 – 7,8 l/100 km; CO₂-uitstoot gecombineerd: 181 – 175 g/km volgens de WLTP-cyclus).

De huidige, derde generatie van de BMW Z4 is sinds zijn lancering met dit modelgamma de leider in het segment van de premium roadsters en heeft zijn marktaandeel voortdurend zien groeien. De belangrijkste verkoopregio voor de open tweezitter is Duitsland, gevolgd door de VS, China, het Verenigd Koninkrijk en Japan. De BMW Z4 M40i Pure Impulse-editie komt vanaf maart 2024 op de markt met een geleidelijke start van de productie. De roadster wordt nog steeds gebouwd bij de productiepartner van de BMW Group, Magna Steyr Fahrzeugtechnik, in de Oostenrijkse stad Graz.

De BMW roadster geeft een moderne draai aan een succesvolle traditie.

De geschiedenis van BMW roadsters is nauw verweven met een passie voor sportief rijplezier en veel succes op het circuit. Ze gaat helemaal terug tot de begindagen van het bedrijf als autoconstructeur en leeft voort in de moderne gedaante van de BMW Z4.

Een zescilinder-in-lijnmotor, handgeschakelde versnellingsbak en achterwielaandrijving definieerden ook de rijervaring in de BMW 328, die zijn publieksdebuut in 1936 bekroonde met een overwinning in de Eifelrennen-race op de Nürburgring. Meer recent verschenen er regelmatig ook bijgewerkte versies van dezelfde krachtbron in de roadsters van het merk. Dat geldt zowel voor de BMW Z1, die in 1987 werd onthuld nadat hij werd ontwikkeld als innovatietestbank van BMW Technik, als voor de BMW Z3 die in 1995 werd voorgesteld. En ook de eerste twee modelgeneraties van de BMW Z4 omarmden hetzelfde recept voor opwindend rijplezier onder de blote hemel.

Exclusieve combinatie: zes cilinders en een handgeschakelde zesversnellingsbak.

Door de combinatie van een zescilinder-in-lijnmotor met een handgeschakelde zesversnellingsbak vertegenwoordigt de nieuwe editie van de BMW Z4 M40i een uniek aanbod in dit segment – en ook een uiterst exclusieve set-up binnen het BMW productgamma. In feite zijn de enige modellen in het huidige gamma die met deze aandrijfconfiguratie verkrijgbaar zijn prestatiegerichte sportwagens van BMW M GmbH. Maar nu komt er een BMW M Performance model bij met de komst van de BMW Z4 M40i Pure Impulse-editie.

De 3,0-liter-motor in de BMW Z4 M40i dankt zijn vertrouwde hoogtoerige prestaties, ogenblikkelijke vermogensontplooiing en zijdezachte soepelheid aan de nieuwste M TwinPower Turbo-technologie. Als bijzondere eigenschappen heeft de motor onder meer een gesmede krukas, zuigers met een geoptimaliseerd gewicht en een watergekoeld uitlaatspruitstuk in de cilinderkop. Een TwinScroll-turbo voorziet de zes verbrandingskamers van perslucht, waarvan de temperatuur wordt geregeld door middel van een indirecte intercooler. Het pakket aandrijftechnologieën omvat ook High Precision Injection bij een druk tot 350 bar, een variabele kleppentiming VALVETRONIC en een volledig variabele nokkenassturing dubbele VANOS.

Met zijn maximumkoppel van 500 Nm tussen 1.600 en 4.500 t/min genereert de motor een meeslepende trekkracht. Zijn maximumvermogen van 250 kW/340 pk is beschikbaar vanaf 5.000 tot 6.500 t/min.

In deze speciale editie wordt het vermogen overgebracht op de weg dankzij een handgeschakelde zesversnellingsbak die exclusief voor de BMW Z4 M40i werd ontwikkeld. Het gaat om een modulaire BMW versnellingsbak met M specifieke onderdelen voor de tandwielset en assen die werd aangepast aan het vermogen van de zescilinder-in-lijnmotor. Het buitenste schakelmechanisme, bestaande uit de versnellingspook, de geleiding en de verbinding met de transmissie, werd eveneens op maat gemaakt voor de Pure Impulse-editie van de BMW Z4 M40i – en biedt het ongeëvenaarde schakelgevoel waarvoor de BMW modellen bekendstaan. De directe vermogensstroom tussen motor en transmissie in combinatie met de nauwe betrokkenheid van de bestuurder bij het schakelen versterkt de emotionele band tussen bestuurder en wagen. De precieze schakelacties maken het mogelijk om snel en intuïtief van versnelling te veranderen.

Wanneer het vermogen via de handgeschakelde zesversnellingsbak wordt overgebracht, stuwt de zescilinder-in-lijn de BMW Z4 M40i in 4,6 seconden vanuit stilstand naar 100 km/u. Op modellen met de achttraps sportversnellingsbak Steptronic duurt de sprint van 0 naar 100 km/u 4,5 seconden. Hoewel de sportversnellingsbak Steptronic standaard automatisch de versnellingen selecteert, laat hij de bestuurder desgewenst ook manueel schakelen. De schakelpaddles aan het stuur zijn ontworpen om een spontane interactie met het aandrijfsysteem mogelijk te maken.

Geraffineerde chassisafstelling, velgen met combinatie van verschillende bandentypes voor het eerst op de BMW Z4.

Compacte proporties, een geminimaliseerd gewicht, een laag zwaartepunt en een nagenoeg perfecte 50:50-gewichtsverdeling zijn de bepalende elementen van een BMW Z4 voertuigconcept dat nauwkeurig werd geperfectioneerd om wendbaarheid en dynamische prestaties te leveren. De extreem stijve koetswerk- en chassisstructuur en de uitstekende aerodynamische eigenschappen dragen ook bij tot het sportwagenkarakter van de Z4. Het chassisontwerp van de roadster, dat een vooras met dubbele veerpoten combineert met een achteras met vijf wielarmen, creëert een meeslepende en harmonieuze mix van dynamiek en rijcomfort.

De standaarduitrusting van de BMW Z4 M40i omvat Variable Sport Steering, M sportremmen en een M sportdifferentieel op de achteras, samen met een adaptieve M sportophanging met elektronisch gestuurde schokdempers, waarvan de software voor de Pure Impulse-editie extra werd verfijnd. De exclusieve chassistechnologie aan boord van de speciale editie is voorzien van speciale hulpveren op de voor- en achteras. Vooraan werd ook een speciaal versterkte stabilisatorstangklem gemonteerd, terwijl zowel de mapping voor de elektronische sturing van de schokdempers achteraan als de software voor de Variable Sport Steering werden aangepast. Om tot een scherper weggedrag te komen dat door rijpuristen zal worden gewaardeerd, heeft het ontwikkelingsteam ook de tractiecontrole en het M sportdifferentieel uitgerust met een modelspecifieke besturingslogica.

Een ander nieuw kenmerk van het chassis heeft betrekking op de velgmaten: op de BMW Z4 M40i van modeljaar 2024 worden voor het eerst velgen van verschillende afmetingen gemonteerd. De nieuwe BMW M lichtmetalen velgen, dubbelspaak met afwerking in Schwarz hochglänzend hebben een diameter van 19" op de vooras en 20" op de achteras. Deze combinatie, die eerder was voorbehouden aan prestatiegerichte modellen van BMW M GmbH, maakt een optimale overdracht van de aandrijfkracht op de weg mogelijk – vooral in combinatie met achterwielaandrijving – samen met een zeer doeltreffende overbrenging van de zijwaartse krachten in scherpe bochten.

Pure Impulse-editie met individuele exterieurkenmerken.

Naast de handgeschakelde zesversnellingsbak, de geraffineerde chassisafstelling en de combinatie van BMW M lichtmetalen velgen van 19" en 20" voegt de Pure Impulse-editie ook individuele designkenmerken toe aan het exterieur van de BMW Z4 M40i. Die geven de roadster een strakkere look die zijn meer afgeronde sportwagenkarakter onderstreept, maar vullen ook de bekende M exterieurkenmerken aan om de luchtstroom en de aerodynamische balans te optimaliseren. Het gaat onder meer om de M Shadow Line hochglänzend met bijkomende elementen, die ook de exclusieve modellogo's op de zijpanelen vooraan en de achterzijde van de wagen omvat, evenals de in Schwarz hochglänzend gelakte buitenspiegelbehuizingen, speciaal ontworpen flappen om de luchtstroom rond de achterwielkasten te stroomlijnen en rode remklauwen voor de M sportremmen.

Ook nieuwe koetswerkkleuren maken deel uit van de specificaties van de Pure Impulse-editie. Voorbeelden voor de Europese markten zijn de metaalkleur Frozen Deep Green, terwijl modellen voor de VS de metaalkleur Sanremo Green krijgen. Andere koetswerkkleuren uit het vertrouwde kleurenpalet voor de BMW Z4 kunnen als alternatief voor de nieuwe versies worden gekozen.

Exclusieve interieuraccenten voor de Pure Impulse-editie.

Het interieur van de BMW Z4 werd ontworpen om van ongebreideld rijplezier te genieten in een ruimte met een modern en verfijnd sportwagengevoel. Het op de bestuurder gerichte cockpitdesign en de modelspecifieke sportzetels met geïntegreerde hoofdsteunen helpen dit doel te bereiken. Het interieur combineert zuivere lijnen die naar voren lijken te vloeien met oppervlakken die in slechts enkele zones geconcentreerd zijn.

De Pure Impulse-editie omvat M specifieke designkenmerken voor het interieur, aangevuld met een aantal exclusieve details. Zo is er een M versnellingspook met modelspecifieke hoes op de middenconsole die gebruikt wordt om de handgeschakelde zesversnellingsbak van de speciale editie te bedienen. De lederen bekleding Vernasca in Cognac met zwarte M biezen – eveneens exclusief voor de BMW Z4 M40i Pure Impulse – straalt een mix van weelderige elegantie en sportieve flair uit. Ze wordt aangevuld met decoratieve lijsten in Schwarz hochglänzend.

Ook nieuwe koetswerkkleuren voor de viercilindermodellen.

Naast de Pure Impulse-editie zijn de nieuwe, aan de reeks koetswerkkleuren toegevoegde tinten ook beschikbaar voor andere modellen van de BMW Z4 van modeljaar 2024. De metaalkleur Frozen Deep Green is echter voorbehouden aan de topversies van de roadster. De metaalkleur Sanremo Green is ook verkrijgbaar voor de BMW Z4 sDrive20i en BMW Z4 sDrive30i.

Het duo viercilindermodellen beschikt standaard over de exterieurkenmerken van het M Sportpakket, met name driedelige luchtinlaten in de voorschort, de contouren van de zijschorten in een aparte stijl en de achterschort met zeer opvallende zijranden. BMW M 18" lichtmetalen velgen, dubbelspaak maken eveneens deel uit van de standaarduitrusting. Ze hebben een tweekleurige afwerking en zijn voorzien van een combinatie van verschillende bandentypes. De BMW Z4 sDrive30i is bovendien standaard uitgerust met een M sportophanging en Variable Sport Steering. Het M sportdifferentieel kan ook als optie worden besteld voor deze specifieke variant van de roadster.

De softtop van de BMW Z4 is ook verkrijgbaar in een afwerking in Anthrazit met zilvereffect als alternatief voor de standaard zwarte kleur voor alle modelversies. Hij wordt elektrisch bediend en kan met een druk op de knop in tien seconden worden geopend of gesloten, zelfs bij snelheden tot 50 km/u. Een windscherm en automatische airconditioning met twee zones maken ook deel uit van de standaarduitrusting op alle versies van de roadster. Het standaardopbergpakket en de doorlaadoperning verbeteren dan weer de functionaliteit, zowel tijdens dagelijkse ritten als langere ritten.

Puristisch rijplezier gaat hand in hand met een intuïtieve bediening en geavanceerde rijhulpsystemen.

De vertrouwde focus op de bestuurder van BMW modellen en het ergonomisch verbeterde interieurdesign voor een meeslepende rijervaring worden ook gecombineerd met het weergave- en bedieningssysteem BMW iDrive in de BMW Z4. Dit systeem werkt samen met de BMW Live Cockpit Navigation Professional die standaard wordt gemonteerd op alle BMW Z4 modelversies om een intuïtieve bediening en intelligente connectiviteit te garanderen. Het omvat een volledig digitale instrumentencombi met aanpasbare grafische weergave en een Control Display met aanraakbediening – beide met een schermdiagonaal van 10,25" – evenals de Controller op de middenconsole en de BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant. Ook het navigatiesysteem BMW Maps, een multimediasysteem met harde schijf en smartphone-integratie maken deel uit van het pakket BMW Live Cockpit Navigation Professional. Het HiFi-luidsprekersysteem, een handsfree-systeem met USB-interface en een alarmsysteem zijn eveneens standaard, terwijl het Harman Kardon Surround Sound System met 12 luidsprekers als optie kan worden toegevoegd.

Verder biedt de nieuwe BMW Z4 klanten een reeks rijhulpsystemen die hen optimaal laten genieten van puur rijplezier. De botswaarschuwing vooraan met remfunctie, Lane Departure Warning met actief tegensturen en Speed Limit Info met No Passing Info zijn allemaal standaard. Op de optielijst staan onder meer de Cruise Control met Stop&Go functie, Lane Change Warning, preventie van kop-staartbotsingen en Crossing Traffic Warning, samen met Parking Assistant Pack, achteruitrijcamera en Reversing Assistant. Het BMW Head-Up Display, dat ook als optie verkrijgbaar is, projecteert rijgegevens op de voorruit van de roadster.

De nieuwe edities van de BMW X modellen en high-performance varianten in het luxe Sports Activity Vehicle en Sports Activity Coupé segment maken hun eerste publieke verschijning op het Concours d'Elegance 2023 in Florida. De BMW 3.0 CSL racecoupé en de in serie geproduceerde versie van de "Batmobile" worden in de BMW Group Classic ruimte naast het BMW 507 design icoon om beurten tentoongesteld. En de 28e editie van dit voorjaarsevenement richtte de schijnwerpers op exquise zeldzaamheden uit vervlogen tijden, maar ook op nieuwe modellen uit Beieren. BMW en BMW M GmbH bundelden hun krachten om de nieuwe edities van hun Sports Activity Vehicles en Sports Activity Coupés - geproduceerd in de BMW Group Plant Spartanburg - te presenteren. Voor het eerst werden de nieuwe BMW X5 en de nieuwe BMW X6 aan het publiek voorgesteld, plus de BMW X5 M Competition (brandstofverbruik, gecombineerd: 13,1 - 12,9 l/100 km [21,6 - 21,9 mpg imp]; CO2-uitstoot, gecombineerd: 295 - 291 g/km in de WLTP-cyclus) en BMW X6 M Competition (brandstofverbruik, gecombineerd: 12,9 - 12,7 l/100 km [21,9 - 22,2 mpg imp]; CO2-uitstoot, gecombineerd: 292 - 287 g/km in de WLTP-cyclus) high-performance modellen, met hun verbeterde design en uitgebreide technologie.

Nauwkeurige designaanpassingen, waaronder nieuwe koplampen en de nieuwste versie van het volledig digitale controle-/bedieningssysteem BMW iDrive met BMW Curved Display, geven het exterieur en het interieur van de nieuwe BMW X5 en de nieuwe BMW X6 een frisse uitstraling. En voor nog meer rijplezier zorgt de nieuwe en krachtigere aandrijving van het plug-in hybride model BMW X5 xDrive50e (brandstofverbruik, gecombineerd: 1,1 - 0,8 l/100 km [256,8 - 353,1 mpg imp]; elektriciteitsverbruik, gecombineerd: 27,0 - 22,9 kWh/100 km; CO2-uitstoot: 26 - 18 g/km in de WLTP-cyclus) en de eveneens nieuwe motoren met 48V mild hybridetechnologie die in alle andere modelvarianten zijn ingebouwd. De nieuwe BMW X5 M Competition en de nieuwe BMW X6 M Competition hebben een zichtbaar aangescherpt exterieur en voor het eerst een gemeenschappelijk frontdesign. De cabines van beide auto's zijn voorzien van de modernste technologie in de vorm van het BMW Curved Display inclusief het BMW iDrive controle-/bedieningssysteem met M-specifieke scherminhoud. Hun uitgebreid gewijzigde V8 motoren werken nu ook met 48V technologie en leveren hun maximale vermogen van 460 kW/625 pk met nog meer urgentie en in nog indrukwekkender stijl.

De vier modellen die op Amelia Island hun wereldpremière beleven, profiteren ook van een aanzienlijk uitgebreide reeks systemen voor automatisch rijden en parkeren. Zowel het parkeren als de complete manoeuvres kunnen worden uitgevoerd van buiten de auto met behulp van een Apple iPhone.

BMW Group Classic schittert met racelegendes en designiconen.

Naast de sportieve nieuwkomers van BMW en BMW M op Amelia Island was ook een echte autosportlegende aanwezig: de BMW 3.0 CSL. BMW Group Classic bracht de legendarische racer naar de show om een heel bijzondere verjaardag te vieren. Precies 50 jaar geleden reden Toine Hezemans (NL) en Dieter Quester (AT) met de 3.0 CSL naar de overwinning in de toerwagenklasse ("Tourisme Spéciale") tijdens de 24 uur van Le Mans. De betrouwbaarheid van de 3,3-liter motor in auto nummer 51 speelde daarbij een sleutelrol, want het duo eindigde ook als 11e in het algemeen klassement van de prestigieuze uithoudingsklassieker.

Op Amelia Island werd de 3.0 CSL racecoupé om beurten tentoongesteld in de BMW Group Classic ruimte met de in serie geproduceerde versie van de tweedeurs auto die ook bekend staat als de "Batmobile" (vanwege zijn spectaculaire achtervleugel). Deze laatste ontwikkelingsfase van de BMW 3.0 CSL met 3,2-liter motor met 206 pk, waarvan slechts 167 exemplaren werden gemaakt, viert dit jaar ook zijn 50e verjaardag. De kers op de taart van de BMW Group Classic line-up was de BMW 507. De roadster staat nog steeds bekend als één van de meest iconische BMW auto's aller tijden.

BMW Z3 en BMW Z4: kenmerkend BMW roadster gevoel over vier generaties.

In de aanloop naar het Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance werd bijna drie decennia roadstergeschiedenis herenigd. Een roadtrip door Florida bracht een handvol BMW Z3 en BMW Z4 modellen van vier generaties samen. De selectie van auto's voor de tour van Zuid-Florida naar de locatie van het evenement voor klassieke auto's in het noordoosten van de Sunshine State varieerde van de BMW Z3 tot de nieuwste BMW Z4, die onlangs een nieuwe ronde van design en uitrusting kreeg.

De BMW Z3 was het eerste model dat voor de wereldmarkt werd gebouwd in de BMW Group fabriek Spartanburg in de Amerikaanse staat South Carolina. De roadster werd onthuld in 1995 en maakte zijn eerste publieke verschijning in de kaskraker James Bond film GoldenEye. Hij bleef te koop tot 2002, toen hij werd vervangen door de eerste BMW Z4. Met zijn opvallende lijnen en geavanceerde uitrustingsdetails zette de Z4 duidelijk een streep onder zijn voorganger. Zeven jaar later zorgde de tweede generatie van de BMW Z4 voor een frisse interpretatie van de roadster-kunst - met zijn elegant vloeiende lijnen en, vooral, een intrekbare metalen hardtop die met een druk op de knop elektrohydraulisch omlaag en weer omhoog kon worden gebracht. De derde generatie van de Z4 tovert sinds 2018 een glimlach op de gezichten van liefhebbers van open-top rijplezier. Scherpe proporties, een klassiek - en elektrisch aangedreven - softtopdak en een nieuw niveau van dynamisch talent onderscheiden hem van de massa, net als de unieke zes-in-lijn motor van het topmodel.

Munich. With the introduction of 48-volt mild hybrid technology in additional model series from summer 2020, BMW continues to consistently reduce fuel consumption and emissions in its current vehicle fleet. From July and August 2020, both efficiency and dynamic performance will be optimised in 51 models with the use of a particularly powerful starter generator and an additional battery. This also applies to the new in-line 6-cylinder diesel engines in the BMW 7 Series and in the BMW X3, BMW X4, BMW X5, BMW X6 and BMW X7. Two additional engine variants are available for the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé from July 2020 onwards. In numerous plug-in hybrid models, the new BMW eDrive Zone function will ensure an automatic switch to purely electric operating mode when entering inner city areas such as low emission zones.

The extension of the range of standard and optional equipment features in the areas of driver assistance systems, operation and networking contributes to an increase in driving pleasure. A new display and control system will be part of the standard trim in the new BMW 3 Series from July 2020. Among other things, BMW Operating System 7 enables use of the optional BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant. Furthermore, in the BMW 3 Series and other model series the range of functions of the optional Driving Assistant Professional is supplemented by Active Navigation Guidance and the Emergency Lane Assistant.

Increased dynamic performance and reduced fuel consumption: 48-volt mild hybrid technology now in 51 BMW models.
From summer 2020 onwards, mild hybrid technology will be used in numerous additional BMW models to provide support and relief for the combustion engine. It consists of a 48-volt starter generator that enables particularly intensive braking energy recuperation along with an additional battery to store the electricity that is generated in this way. The 48-volt battery not only supplies the electrically operated vehicle functions, it also makes its energy available to generate additional drive power. For this purpose the current flows back to the starter generator, which now takes on the role of an electric drive. This reduces the load on the combustion engine, allowing it to run as often as possible in an efficiency-optimised load range. What is more, the generator creates an electric boost during acceleration. This instantly available additional output of 8 kW/11 hp supports dynamic power delivery during start and acceleration.

The 48-volt mild hybrid technology was first introduced in selected model variants of the BMW 5 Series in autumn 2019. This was followed by the BMW 3 Series models and several BMW X models. From July and August 2020, it will be available as standard in 37 further model variants of the BMW 3 Series, BMW 5 Series, BMW 6 Series and BMW 7 Series as well as the BMW X3, BMW X4, BMW X5, BMW X6 and BMW X7. All in all it will ensure efficiency and dynamic performance in 51 current BMW models.

More power, less emissions: the new in-line 6-cylinder diesel engines with optimised BMW TwinPower Turbo Technology.
A new generation of in-line 6-cylinder engines will make its debut in numerous BMW model series in summer 2020. These highly efficient aluminium power units, each with a capacity of 3.0 litres, combine their extensively further developed BMW TwinPower Turbo Technology with the new 48-volt mild hybrid system, thereby achieving particularly significant progress within the context of BMW EfficientDynamics. In addition to optimised turbocharging systems, the latest version of common rail direct injection with piezo injectors ensures that both performance and efficiency are significantly increased in the new diesel engines. The injectors now transport fuel to the combustion chambers in up to ten injections per cycle and at a maximum pressure of 2,700 bar.

With maximum output increased by 15 kW/21 hp to 210 kW/286 hp, the new diesel engine for the models BMW 730d (combined fuel consumption: 4.9 – 4.7 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 128 – 123 g/km) and BMW 730d xDrive (combined fuel consumption: 5.2 – 5.0 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 138 – 133 g/km), BMW 730Ld (combined fuel consumption: 5.0 – 4.8 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 130 – 126 g/km), BMW 730Ld xDrive (combined fuel consumption: 5.3 – 5.1 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 139 – 133 g/km), BMW X3 xDrive30d (combined fuel consumption: 5.6 – 5.2 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 147 – 137 g/km), BMW X4 xDrive30d (combined fuel consumption: 5.6 – 5.1 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 146 – 136 g/km), BMW X5 xDrive30d (combined fuel consumption: 6.2 – 5.7 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 164 – 150 g/km) und BMW X6 xDrive30d (combined fuel consumption: 6.2 – 5.7 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 162 – 149 g/km) demonstrates a perceptibly enhanced temperament. Its particularly spontaneous power delivery is due to the multi-stage turbocharging used for the first time in this version of the in-line 6-cylinder diesel engine, along with variable turbine geometry for the low-pressure stage of the system. Increased by 30 to 650 Nm, the maximum torque of the new drive unit goes on stream at between 1,500 and 2,500 rpm – a power boost that especially results in enhanced sprint capacity. For example, the BMW 730d and the BMW 730d xDrive have improved their acceleration from zero to 100 km/h by 0.2 seconds each to 5.9 and 5.6 seconds respectively.

The new diesel engine now also used in the BMW 740d xDrive models BMW 740d xDrive (combined fuel consumption: 5.4 – 5.2 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 142 – 136 g/km), BMW 740Ld xDrive (combined fuel consumption: 5.4 – 5.2 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 143 – 137 g/km), BMW X3 M40d (combined fuel consumption: 6.0 – 5.6 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 157 – 148 g/km), BMW X4 M40d (combined fuel consumption: 5.9 – 5.6 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 156 – 147 g/km) und BMW X7 xDrive40d (combined fuel consumption: 6.6 – 6.4 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 173 – 167 g/km) generates even greater pulling power. Its multi-stage turbocharging system comprises a high-pressure and a low-pressure turbocharger with variable turbine geometry. As a result, a maximum torque of 700 Nm is delivered between 1,750 and 2,250 rpm. The engine reaches its peak output of 250 kW/340 hp at 4 400 rpm. In the BMW 740d xDrive, for example, this increased power helps achieve a sprint from standstill to 100 km/h that is also improved by 0.2 seconds to 5.0 seconds.

The two new engines are feature exhaust gas treatment technology with engine-related components consisting of a diesel oxidation catalytic converter and an SCR coating on the diesel particulate filter. For optimum reduction of nitrogen oxide (NO_X) emissions, a second dosage unit is additionally integrated at the outlet of the engine-related SCR system. As a result, the models powered by the new in-line 6-cylinder diesel engines meet the Euro 6d emissions standard.

Expansion of the model range for the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé.
The BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé model range will be extended from July 2020 with the addition of two new engine variants. A new entry-level diesel engine and an additional all-wheel drive model variant are available for the sporty, elegant four-door model in the premium compact segment. The new BMW 218d Gran Coupé (combined fuel consumption: 4.5 – 4.2 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 118 – 109 g/km) is powered by the latest version of a 4-cylinder diesel engine. The BMW TwinPower Turbo Technology in the 2.0-litre power unit now includes a two-stage turbocharging system as well as a likewise further developed common rail direct injection featuring solenoid valve injectors. The new engine delivers its maximum torque of 350 Nm between 1,750 and 2,500 rpm, reaching a maximum output of 110 kW/150 hp at 4,000 rpm. The new BMW 218d Gran Coupé accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 8.6 seconds with the standard 6-speed manual transmission and in 8.5 seconds with the optional 8-speed Steptronic transmission.

The second diesel engine available for the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé delivers a maximum output of 140 kW/190 hp and a maximum torque of 400 Nm. In the new BMW 220d xDrive Gran Coupé (combined fuel consumption: 4.9 – 4.5 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 129 – 119 g/km) it is now combined with intelligent all-wheel drive and an 8-speed Steptronic transmission. This enables the new model variant to accelerate from standstill to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds. Thanks to state-of-the-art exhaust gas treatment including SCR catalytic converter with AdBlue injection, both new models meet the Euro 6d emissions standard.

Green light for BMW eDrive Zone: locally emissions-free travel in the city on an automated basis.
Innovative technology from the fields of electrification and digitalisation is combined in the new BMW eDrive Zone function available in the premium car manufacturer’s plug-in hybrid models. This globally unique digital service offers additional options for making optimum use of the capabilities of emissions-free driving. The BMW eDrive Zone function triggers an automatic switch to purely electric operating mode as soon as the vehicle enters selected urban areas such as low-emission zones.

BMW eDrive Zone will be a standard feature of all plug-in hybrid models of the BMW 3 Series, BMW 5 Series and BMW 7 Series as well as the BMW X5. The digital service uses geo-fencing technology via GPS to identify designated areas. eDrive zones of this kind are currently designated in some 80 cities throughout Europe. When the service is activated, each available eDrive Zone on the navigation map is graphically highlighted in the Control Display: a message appears to inform the driver that the vehicle will automatically switch to electric driving mode as soon as it enters an eDrive Zone.

From summer 2020, the above-mentioned plug-in hybrid models will also be fitted with an integrated drive-ready sound for electric power as standard. This means that both starting and stopping the electric drive will be accompanied by a distinctive acoustic signal. In addition there has been an expansion of the range of preconditioning functions, which is also a standard feature. Depending on the equipment fitted, more functions will be available that can be activated remotely by smartphone, in addition to interior cooling and heating. In future it will also be possible to activate the seat climate control before the start of a journey, for example. In the same way it will be possible to include the seat, steering wheel, exterior mirror and rear window heating systems in the preconditioning for heating the interior, as well as heating of the cameras for the driver assistance systems.

BMW 3 Series Sedan and BMW 3 Series Touring now fitted with BMW Operating System 7 as standard.
In the new BMW 3 Series, the latest generation of the display and control system will be a standard feature as of summer 2020. Previously only used in conjunction with BMW Live Cockpit Professional, BMW Operating System 7 offers extensive individualisation and personalisation of the content shown on the Control Display. The standard BMW Live Cockpit now also includes a redesigned instrument cluster with a 5.1-inch digital display at its centre. BMW Live Cockpit Plus, like BMW Live Cockpit Professional, also includes the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant. This digital companion enables intuitive operation of numerous vehicle functions via voice control (“Hey, BMW”). In the BMW 1 Series and BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé, BMW Operating System 7 will also be part of the optional BMW Live Cockpit Plus from July 2020.

The M sports seats are new to the range of optional extras for the new BMW 3 Series Sedan and the new BMW 3 Series Touring. They feature excellent lateral support, a wide range of adjustment options and headrests with embossed M logo. The M sports seats for driver and front passenger are available in conjunction with the Model M Sport equipment line as well as for the BMW M automobiles of the new BMW 3 Series. The choice of exterior colours for the new BMW 3 Series is supplemented by the variant Phytonic Blue metallic.

Increased comfort and safety: Driving Assistant Professional with additional functions.
The optional Driving Assistant Professional is a particularly comprehensive collection of driver assistance systems designed to optimise comfort and safety: it is being used by BMW to pave the way to automated driving in numerous current models. The focus is on the steering and lane guidance assistant, which will be enhanced with additional functions from summer 2020 in the BMW 3 Series, BMW 5 Series, BMW 6 Series and BMW 8 Series, in the BMW X5, BMW X6 and BMW X7, and in all variants of the BMW M5 and BMW M8.

The new Active Navigation Guidance indicates lane changes that are necessary in order to continue driving along the selected route when destination guidance is active. The driver can then carry out this operation conveniently with the aid of the lane change assistant. In addition, Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go function will in future include an adaptive distance control that adapts to the respective traffic situation and environmental conditions.

Further progress is also being made in the intelligent control of the Speed Limit Info system with No Passing Indicator. In all model variants of the BMW 1 Series, BMW 3 Series, BMW 5 Series, BMW 6 Series, BMW 7 Series and BMW 8 Series, the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé, the BMW Z4, the BMW X5, the BMW X6 and the BMW X7 as well as the BMW M5, the BMW M8, the BMW X5 M and the BMW X6 M, road sign detection will in future additionally take into account speed limits that are restricted in time and only apply on certain days of the week. On days other, the speed limit derived from the navigation data is displayed.

BMW 7 Series and BMW 8 Series with optimised Integral Active Steering.
Sporty flair and ride comfort in the BMW 7 Series luxury sedans and the luxury sports cars of the BMW 8 Series benefit from Integral Active Steering. The optional suspension system combines a variable rack and pinion ratio on the front axle with selective co-steering of the rear wheels. Even at particularly low speeds of less than 3 km/h, the rear wheels are now countersteered. This gives the models of the BMW 7 Series and BMW 8 Series additional manoeuvrability when moving slowly in and out of parking spaces or passing through narrow gaps.

In addition, the BMW 7 Series will be available from July 2020 in the new exterior paint finish Phytonic Blue metallic and the BMW Individual paint finish Frozen Bluestone metallic. A fresh touch of luxury ambience is added to the interior with the BMW Individual leather steering wheel as well as the new version of the BMW Individual Merino full leather trim in the colour combination Smoke White/Night Blue/Black.

New body finishes for the BMW i3 and numerous other models
Another new addition to the range is the body finish in Cashmere Silver metallic, which is also available for the BMW X1. The BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer will also offered in Phytonic Blue metallic and Misano Blue metallic in future.

New body finishes are available for numerous other models, too. Phytonic Blue metallic and Sunset Orange metallic versions of the BMW 1 Series and the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé will be on offer from July 2020. The body finish Phytonic Blue metallic will also be available for the BMW X5, BMW X6 and BMW X7 as of August 2020. What is more, the BMW X5 and BMW X6 can be fitted with the new Carbon Fibre interior trim finishers and M Carbon exterior mirror caps in conjunction with the M sports package.

The purely electrically powered models BMW i3 (combined fuel consumption: 0.0 l/100 km; combined power consumption: 13.1 kWh/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 0 g/km) and BMW i3s (combined fuel consumption: 0.0 l/100 km; combined power consumption: 14.6 – 14.0 kWh/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 0 g/km) will be available from summer 2020 in the new body finish Blue Ridge Mountain with accentuations in Frozen Grey metallic.

Meanwhile new BMW Individual body finishes are available for the model variants of the high-performance sports car BMW M8. For the BMW M8 Series Coupé (combined fuel consumption: 10.6 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 242 g/km*) and the BMW M8 Convertible (combined fuel consumption: 10.8 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 246 g/km), the Ametrin metallic variant is now newly available. For both models and for the BMW M8 Gran Coupé (combined fuel consumption: 10.7 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 244 g/km), the versions Bluestone metallic, Frozen Brands Hatch Grey metallic and Frozen Motegi Red metallic are likewise available.

Munich. BMW will also be injecting many of the models not affected by its ongoing model offensive with added variety and appeal during the summer of 2019. Following the successful launch of the new BMW 3 Series Sedan, its choice of power units has now been expanded. New engines are also fitted in the BMW 8 Series Coupe, BMW 8 Series Convertible and BMW 5 Series Sedan. Elsewhere, the BMW Z4 sDrive20i (fuel consumption combined: 6.9 – 6.8 l/100 km [40.9 – 41.5 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 157 – 155 g/km) will also be available with a six-speed manual gearbox from July 2019.

The portfolio of plug-in hybrid models is also set to grow in summer 2019, thanks to additions such as the BMW 530e xDrive Sedan (petrol consumption combined: 2.2 – 2.0 l/100 km [128.4 – 141.2 mpg imp]; electric power consumption combined: 15.4 – 15.0 kWh/100 km; CO2 emissions combined: 49 – 46 g/km) with intelligent all-wheel drive. All plug-in hybrid models will now come with new battery cell technology to boost their electric range and will also feature acoustic protection for pedestrians as standard. The BMW X2 will come with LED headlights and LED foglamps as standard from July 2019. Last but not least, new optional extras, exterior paint finishes, leather variants and interior trim strips will open up further scope for customisation in many model ranges.

BMW 3 Series Sedan: additional power units, new body colours and options.

The new BMW 3 Series Sedan will serve up its distinctive brand of driving pleasure in a number of new formats from July 2019, when an ultra-sporty representative with a straight-six petrol engine and BMW xDrive, another three all-wheel-drive variants and a plug-in hybrid model are added to the line-up. As a result, customers will now have a choice of three petrol and three diesel engines, as well as a plug-in hybrid drive system. Five of the power units will combine with all-wheel drive, either as standard or optionally.

Spearheading the model range is the new BMW M340i xDrive Sedan (fuel consumption combined: 7.5 l/100 km [37.7 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 172 g/km), which is powered by a new 275 kW/374 hp six-cylinder in-line petrol engine. An eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission, intelligent all-wheel drive, an M Sport differential and bespoke chassis technology combine to keep the engine’s exceptional power planted firmly on the road and deliver a supremely assured and exhilarating drive. The likewise standard sports exhaust system produces a soundtrack to match. The new BMW M340i xDrive Sedan sprints from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.4 seconds.

From July 2019, intelligent all-wheel drive will be available in combination with another three engines. The trio of models benefiting from the superior traction, directional stability and agility this brings will be the BMW 320i xDrive Sedan (fuel consumption combined: 6.3 – 5.9 l/100 km [44.84 – 47.9 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 143 – 134 g/km), BMW 330i xDrive Sedan (fuel consumption combined: 6.5 – 6.2 l/100 km [43.5 – 45.6 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 147 – 141 g/km) and BMW 330d xDrive Sedan (fuel consumption combined: 5.4 – 5.1 l/100 km [52.3 – 55.4 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 140 – 134 g/km).

The new BMW 330e Sedan (petrol consumption combined: 1.9 – 1.6 l/100 km [148.7 – 176.6 mpg imp]; electric power consumption combined: 15.4 – 14.8 kWh/100 km; CO2 emissions combined: 43 – 37 g/km) delivers a particularly appealing blend of driving pleasure and efficiency. The plug-in hybrid model’s four-cylinder petrol engine and electric drive unit join forces to generate system output of up to 215 kW/292 hp when the newly developed XtraBoost mode is engaged. This enables the BMW 330e Sedan to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) from rest in 6.0 seconds. At the same time, it is capable of a maximum electric range from 59 to 66 kilometres (37 – 41 miles) courtesy of state-of-the-art battery technology.

M Sport suspension will also be available for the new BMW 3 Series Sedan (with the exception of the M Sport model) from July 2019, as will Adaptive M suspension. Both the optional suspension systems combine with Variable Sport Steering.

The new BMW Individual paint finishes Citrine Black metallic, Oxide Grey metallic, Frozen Dark Grey metallic and Brilliant White metallic create extra scope for customisation. Customers will also have the option of a BMW Individual leather steering wheel and three different BMW Individual interior trim strip designs from July 2019. BMW Individual extended leather upholstery Merino and BMW Individual Merino full leather trim – which wraps the upper section of the instrument panel and the door shoulders in black fulled leather, too – will also be added to the options list. The two leather trim variants are each available in a choice of five colours. BMW Individual extended leather upholstery Merino also features as part of the first BMW Individual Composition for the sports sedan. Other items in the Composition include 19-inch BMW Individual light-alloy wheels, a BMW Individual paint finish, sports seats, the BMW Individual leather steering wheel and an anthracite BMW Individual headliner. The M Sport Individual model is another new option combining the M Sport model’s equipment features with ultra-stylish details, such as 19-inch BMW Individual light-alloy wheels, a BMW Individual exterior paint finish, BMW Individual interior trim strips, BMW Individual extended leather upholstery Merino and the BMW Individual leather steering wheel.

BMW 5 Series: new V8 engine, plug-in hybrid model now also with all-wheel drive, attractive optional extras and packages.

A generation change for the V8 engine and another plug-in hybrid model make the range of drive systems available for the BMW 5 Series even more appealing. From July 2019 the BMW M550i xDrive Sedan (fuel consumption combined: 10.0 – 9.9 l/100 km [28.25 – 28.5 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 227 – 225 g/km) will be fitted with the latest update of the eight-cylinder engine with BMW M TwinPower Turbo technology. The new V8 has an optimised crankcase and larger turbochargers positioned in the “V” between the cylinder banks, and develops maximum output of 390 kW/530 hp plus peak torque of 750 Nm (553 lb-ft). The eight-cylinder teams up with the eight-speed Steptronic transmission, intelligent all-wheel drive and model-specific chassis technology to generate standout dynamics.

From July 2019 the latest-generation high-voltage battery will give the BMW 530e Sedan (petrol consumption combined: 1.8 – 1.6 l/100 km [156.9 – 176.6 mpg imp]; electric power consumption combined: 14.5 – 13.6 kWh/100 km; CO2 emissions combined: 41 – 36 g/km) a longer all-electric operating range. The plug-in hybrid model will now also be available with intelligent all-wheel drive. The link-up of four-cylinder petrol engine and electric drive system endow the new BMW 530e xDrive Sedan with system output of 185 kW/252 hp.

A new BMW Individual Composition will be available for all BMW 5 Series Sedan and BMW 5 Series Touring model variants from July 2019. The precisely coordinated design and equipment features for the exterior and interior include a BMW Individual paint finish and 20-inch BMW Individual light-alloy wheels, BMW Individual Exterior Line Aluminium satinated, comfort seats with active seat ventilation, BMW Individual extended leather upholstery Merino, a BMW Individual leather steering wheel, an Anthracite-coloured BMW Individual headliner, ambient lighting, a BMW Individual instrument panel in black leather and BMW Individual interior trim strips in Piano Finish Black.

BMW 8 Series: new six-cylinder in-line petrol engine, optional M Sport seats, additional paint finishes and leather trim variants.

Another engine option and four new model variants inject extra variety into the line-up of power units for the new BMW 8 Series luxury sports car. From July 2019 the BMW 8 Series Coupe and BMW 8 Series Convertible will also be offered with a new six-cylinder in-line-petrol engine developing 250 kW/340 hp. It teams up with rear-wheel drive in the new BMW 840i Coupe (fuel consumption combined: 7.3 – 7.2 l/100 km [38.7 –39.2 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 167 – 164 g/km) and new BMW 840i Convertible (fuel consumption combined: 7.5 – 7.4 l/100 km [37.7 – 38.2 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 170 – 168 g/km), and with intelligent all-wheel drive in the new BMW 840i xDrive Coupe (fuel consumption combined: 7.7 – 7.5 l/100 km [36.7 – 37.7 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 174 – 172 g/km) and new BMW 840i xDrive Convertible (fuel consumption combined: 7.8 – 7.7 l/100 km [36.2 - 36.7 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 178 – 175 g/km).

The engine line-up for the BMW 8 Series also includes a V8 option and a six-cylinder in-line diesel unit. All model variants stand out with their captivating performance attributes, which can be enjoyed in even greater richness and depth in the M Sport seats now added to the options list. As well as attention-grabbing bucket-seat contours and safety belts with accent strips in BMW M GmbH colours, the M Sport seats also feature 3D quilting, perforated central sections and bespoke stitching. Added to which, BMW 8 Series customers will also be able to specify BMW Individual full-leather appointments in eight colour variants from July 2019, plus BMW Individual fine wood interior trim strips in Black Ash Silver Effect high-gloss and Carbon Fibre.

Ultra-classy exterior paint finishes have been added to the spectrum of options available. For example, customers can now also order their BMW 8 Series Coupe or BMW 8 Series Convertible in the BMW Individual paint finish Frozen Bluestone metallic. The BMW 8 Series Convertible can also be ordered with the BMW Individual finishes Frozen Brilliant White metallic, Frozen Dark Brown metallic, Frozen Arctic Grey metallic, Frozen Dark Silver, Frozen Cashmere Silver, Pure Metal Silver, Brilliant White metallic, Tanzanite Blue metallic, Aventurine Red metallic and Almandine Brown metallic.

BMW X2: LED headlights now standard, additional light-alloy wheels, optional M Sport braking system.

The BMW X2 will come as standard from July 2019 with LED headlights with extended features. Their adaptive light distribution ensures optimum road illumination in urban areas, when turning off a road and through corners. LED front foglamps will also be part of standard specification for the compact Sports Activity Coupe. Options will include five new light-alloy wheels in 18- and 19-inch formats and two new upholstery variants.

The M Sport braking system fitted as standard on the BMW X2 M35i (fuel consumption combined: 7.1 – 6.9 l/100 km [39.8 – 40.9 mpg imp], CO2 emissions combined: 161 – 158 g/km) will now be available as an option for all other variants of the BMW X2. The Navigation option will now include an 8.8 inch Control Display with touchscreen functionality in place of the previous 6.5-inch version. And if the Navigation Plus option is specified, the display will have a screen diagonal of 10.25 inches.

BMW X3 and BMW X4: M Sport seats, new M Sport Individual equipment line.

New optional extras will be added to the range for the BMW X3 and BMW X4 in summer 2019 to give the duo yet more appeal. The Sports Activity Vehicle and Sports Activity Coupe will be available with the option of M Sport seats with distinct bucket-seat styling and special design features for the M Sport model, BMW X3 M40i (fuel consumption combined: 9.1 – 9.1 l/100 km [31.0 – 31.0 mpg imp], CO2 emissions combined: 207 – 206 g/km), BMW X3 M40d (fuel consumption combined: 6.5 – 6.4 l/100 km [43.5 – 44.1 mpg imp], CO2 emissions combined: 172 – 169 g/km), BMW X4 M40i (fuel consumption combined: 9.1 – 9.0 l/100 km [31.0 – 31.4 mpg imp], CO2 emissions combined: 206 – 205 g/km) and BMW X4 M40d (fuel consumption combined: 6.6 – 6.4 l/100 km [42.8 – 44.1 mpg imp], CO2 emissions combined: 173 – 170 g/km), as well as with additional interior trim strip variants.

The new M Sport Individual model available for the BMW X3 and BMW X4 from August 2019 brings together a number of high-quality touches that add to their dynamic prowess, while also giving them an even more stylish and exclusive aura. The equipment features of the M Sport model are combined with highlights such as a BMW Individual paint finish, 21-inch BMW Individual light-alloy wheels, BMW Individual extended leather upholstery Merino and BMW Individual interior trim strips in Piano Finish Black.

BMW X5 and BMW X7: new power units, plus more exterior paint finishes, light-alloy wheels and leather trim variants.

The choice of power units for the new BMW X5 will be expanded with the addition of a new entry-level engine in the form of a four-cylinder diesel available for the Sports Activity Vehicle from August 2019. The two-litre engine in the new BMW X5 xDrive25d (fuel consumption combined: 6.2 – 5.7 l/100 km [45.6 – 49.6 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 162 – 150 g/km) develops maximum output of 170 kW/231 hp and peak torque of 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) with the help of BMW TwinPower Turbo technology comprising multi-stage turbocharging and common-rail direct injection. The efficient diesel engine teams up with the eight-speed Steptronic transmission and xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system. The engine’s emission control system includes an SCR catalyst for reducing nitrogen oxide emissions, helping the new BMW X5 xDrive25d to satisfy the requirements of the Euro 6d-TEMP emissions norm.

The summer of 2019 will also see the launch of another exceptionally efficient version of the Sports Activity Vehicle in the form of the BMW X5 xDrive45e (petrol consumption combined: 2.0 – 1.7 l/100 km [141.2 – 166.2 mpg imp]; electric power consumption combined: 23.5 – 20.3 kWh/100 km; CO2 emissions combined: 47 – 39 g/km). This plug-in hybrid model is powered by a combination of a six-cylinder in-line petrol engine and an electric motor, which together generate system output of 290 kW/394 hp. The second-generation BMW X5 with electrified powertrain accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.6 seconds. The BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system is on hand to deliver sporty driving pleasure on the road and supremely assured performance off it by distributing the drive power from both engine and motor to all four wheels. The latest battery cell technology on board the new X5 xDrive45e helps it to cover distances of up to 80 kilometres (50 miles) on electric power alone.

Customers will also enjoy an even wider choice of optional extras. The body colour Manhattan metallic, 22-inch M light-alloy wheels in twin-spoke design, the BMW Individual Alcantara headliner in Anthracite or Ivory White and BMW Individual high-gloss Shadow Line trim with extended features will all be added to the BMW X5 options list from August 2019.

New options are being made available for the new BMW X7, too. From August 2019, it will be possible to upgrade the cabin of the luxury segment’s first ever Sports Activity Vehicle with BMW Individual Merino full leather trim in three different colours and a BMW Individual headliner in Anthracite or Ivory White Alcantara. The palette of colours for the exterior will now expand to include the Manhattan metallic shade and BMW Individual paint finishes Tanzanite Blue metallic and Ametrine metallic. And the BMW X7 can likewise now be specified with BMW Individual high-gloss Shadow Line trim with extended features.

BMW Z4: entry-level engine now also available with manual gearbox.

The 145 kW/197 hp four-cylinder petrol engine in the BMW Z4 sDrive20i (fuel consumption combined: 6.9 – 6.8 l/100 km [40.9 – 41.5 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 157 – 155 g/km) will be partnered by a six-speed manual gearbox as standard from July 2019. The entry-level version of the open-top sports car will also be optionally available with an eight-speed Steptronic transmission.

Plug-in hybrid models with new battery cell technology and acoustic protection for pedestrians.

From summer 2019, the new BMW 330e Sedan, new BMW 530e Sedan, new BMW 530e xDrive Sedan and new BMW X5 xDrive45e will be joined in the line-up of plug-in hybrid models boasting the very latest battery cell technology by the new BMW 225xe Active Tourer (petrol consumption combined: 2.1 – 1.9 l/100 km [134.5 – 148.7 mpg imp]; electric power consumption combined: 14.2 – 13.5 kWh/100 km; CO2 emissions combined: 47 – 42 g/km) and the BMW 7 Series luxury sedan models with electrified powertrains. The newly developed high-voltage batteries further increase efficiency at the same time as boosting the electric range.

From summer 2019, all plug-in hybrid models will be equipped with acoustic protection for pedestrians as standard. When driving on electric power, an unmistakable sound specially created for electrified BMW models is generated using a system of speakers. The sound produced at low speeds has been designed to announce the car’s presence acoustically without affecting acoustic comfort for its occupants.

New optional extra: BMW Drive Recorder - for the Belgian market only.

The BMW Drive Recorder is another new addition to the options list. It can be ordered in conjunction with Parking Assistant Plus and is available for the new BMW 3 Series Sedan, BMW 7 Series, BMW 8 Series, new BMW X5 and new BMW X7. The BMW Drive Recorder uses the cameras of the various driver assistance systems to record video footage from different points around the vehicle, before saving the recordings so they can be either watched later on the Control Display when the car is stationary or exported via the USB port.

Drivers can therefore shoot videos while driving through spectacular scenery, for example, or performing impressive manoeuvres on the race track, and then send them to their mobile device and share them. Recordings can be up to 40 seconds in length, comprising the 20 seconds of video saved immediately prior to the Drive Recorder being activated and the next 20 seconds. The Drive Recorder can be started at any time from the iDrive menu. Another benefit of the system is that, in the event of a collision, the 20 seconds before the accident and the 20 seconds following it are automatically recorded and saved, so they can be referred back to in any subsequent reconstruction of the incident.

Long bonnet, short overhangs, low centre of gravity, soft top: the sporty two-seater doing its laps at the BMW test centre in Miramas in the south of France is instantly recognisable as a purebred roadster. The new BMW Z4 is currently undergoing another particularly important stage of the process towards serial production maturity, in this case involving driving dynamics testing of a heavily disguised prototype. This will provide key insights into the performance properties of the new model, whose genuine roadster characteristics, pure driving pleasure and captivating sporty flair will soon go out on public roads.

Trials at the Autodrome de Miramas are focusing on fine-tuning of all drive and suspension systems – the basis for the sporty driving experience offered by the new BMW Z4. The most intense form of new dynamic roadster performance is embodied by the BMW Z4 M40i. A new, extremely powerful in-line 6-cylinder engine, a lowered sports suspension with electronically controlled dampers, a newly developed front axle, M light alloy wheels with mixed tyres, an M sports brake system and an electronically controlled lock in the rear axle differential create an overall package that sees the BMW M Performance model setting a whole new benchmark for driving pleasure in the roadster segment.

"The vehicle concept of the new BMW Z4 is geared consistently towards agility and driving dynamics," explains Jos van As, Head of Application Suspension. "The high level of body stiffness and the very rigid suspension attachment provide the perfect basis for a set-up that guarantees the performance qualities of a genuine sports car in terms of steering precision as well as longitudinal and transverse acceleration."

Like the Nürburgring-Nordschleife, the Miramas test centre offers perfect conditions for the new BMW Z4 to demonstrate its driving dynamics potential. Used by BMW to develop and test new models for more than 30 years, the centre comprises a long asphalt oval and a motorway ring road for high-speed tests as well as slalom, serpentine and circular tracks and a number of handling courses and circuits featuring highly diverse types of surface. These are currently being used for detailed analysis and optimisation of the roadster's acceleration, steering and brake response. For example, the final form of the adaptive M suspension as it interacts with the rear axle limited-slip differential is developed on a circuit that is also used for testing purposes by BMW Motorsport.

This intense testing process already indicates that the new version of the roadster concept will offer a tangible increase in sporty flair in the new BMW Z4. The new generation will particularly introduce effective enhancements in terms of agile handling, spontaneity and precision when changing direction and accelerating in dynamic style out of bends – without losing out in the comfort disciplines.

Van 5 tot 14 november stelt de BMW Brand Store in Brussel de expositie ‘Michel Vaillant Art Strips’ voor. De BMW Z4 GT3, bestuurd door Timo Glock, Bruno Spengler en Alex Zanardi tijdens de 24 Uur van Spa-Francorchamps, komt speciaal voor deze gelegenheid terug naar België.

De BMW Z4 GT3 die versierd werd met de kleuren van Michel Vaillant, was ongetwijfeld enorm populair tijdens de 24 Uur van Spa-Francorchamps. Met voormalige F1 piloten Timo Glock, Alexander Zanardi en Bruno Spengler aan het stuur, trok de wagen alle aandacht. De Z4 GT3 werd speciaal aangepast aan de beperking van Alex Zanardi opdat hij, vergezeld van zijn twee teamgenoten, voor de eerste keer kon deelnemen aan de uithoudingsrace. Dit gaf de racewagen een extra dimensie die de vele toeschouwers zeker wisten te appreciëren.

Studio Graton ontwierp het design voor deze wagen: de zijflank werd gedecoreerd met de iconische klanknabootsing ‘Vrooaarr’ en op de motorkap pronkte een tekening van de drie piloten. Deze BMW Z4 GT3 zal nu voor de eerste keer sinds zijn overwinning op, wat wel eens het mooiste circuit van de wereld genoemd wordt, haar nieuwe thuis bij BMW Motorsport verlaten en verhuizen naar de BMW Brand Store voor de exhibitie van ‘Michel Vaillant Art Strips’.

Van 5 tot 14 november krijgen strip- en kunstliefhebbers de kans om achttien herwerkingen van de tekeningen van Michel Vaillant’s bedenker Jean Graton te ontdekken. Dominique Graton, de schoondochter van Jean Graton, onthult haar interpretaties van bekende striptekeningen tijdens ‘Michel Vaillant Art Strips’ in de BMW Brand Store. De getalenteerde artieste en artistiek directrice van de Fondation Jean Graton tilt met haar creaties de cult van striptekeningen van de automobielsport op tot hedendaagse kunst. Er zijn slechts dertig exemplaren van haar kunstwerken en ieder stuk wordt ondertekend, genummerd en wordt vergezeld door een uniek authenticatiecertificaat van de Fondation Jean Graton.

De BMW Brand Store organiseert regelmatig sessies rond Art & Design waar artiesten en designers hun kunstwerken kunnen voorstellen. De expositie van ‘Michel Vaillant Art Strips’ brengt de edele kunst van het stripverhaal voor de eerste maal naar de BMW Brand Store.

De proporties van een klassieke Roadster, de superieure motorentechnologie en de innovatie uitrusting onderlijnen het individuele karakter van de BMW Z4. De tweezitter, waarvan de elektrisch wegklapbare hardtop ook tijdens de rit kan worden geopend en gesloten, combineert intensief rijplezier onder de blote hemel met ongelimiteerd gebruik het hele jaar door. Het uitrustingspakket Pure Fusion Design biedt bijkomende mogelijkheden om niet alleen de passie voor het rijden zonder dak, maar ook gevoel voor exclusieve esthetiek tot uiting te brengen. Het onmiskenbare karakter van de BMW Z4 wordt bepaald door de combinatie van een klassiek silhouet en geavanceerde technologie. Met dit model is de roadster weer helemaal klaar voor actie: voorzien van een hele reeks vernieuwingen op het gebied van aandrijving en uitrusting vormt de nieuwe BMW Z4 een onvervalste en tegelijk brandend actuele interpretatie van het traditionele roadster-concept. Met zijn atletische design, dynamische handling en krachtige motoren, is de BMW Z4 uiterst succesvol. Zo was de BMW Z4 wereldwijd marktleider in het segment van de premium roadsters in 2009 en 2010. Dit najaar krijgt dit succes een nieuwe impuls in de vorm van een nieuwe twee liter viercilindermotor met TwinPower Turbo technologie en een vermogen van 176 kW (240 pk). De nieuwe BMW Z4, die klassieke verhoudingen combineert met moderne sportiviteit, heeft de top van zijn marktsegment in een mum van tijd bereikt. Nu bereikt deze charismatische roadster een nieuwe dimensie in rijdynamiek: de nieuwe BMW Z4 sDrive 35is biedt nog betere prestaties die worden verzekerd door de aangepaste zescilinder met BMW Twin Turbo Technologie en High Precision Injection enderzijds en anderzijds door de standaard 7-traps Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) en het M Sprtpakket, inclusief de adaptieve M ophanging. De terugkeer van de klassieke roadster: de moderne interpretatie van dit type voertuig, krachtiger en stijlvoller dan ooit tevoren. De naam: BMW Z4. De enige wagen in zijn segment die de klassieke roadster-verhoudingen combineert met een lage zitpositie net voor de achteras, achterwielaandrijving en een volledig automatisch te bedienen inklapbare hardtop. De European Motor Show Brussels kan er prat op gaan de nieuwe BMW Z4 Roadster
en de nieuwe BMW Z4 M Roadster in wereldpremière te kunnen voorstellen. Niet
minder dan twee nieuwe modellen zullen immers tezelfdertijd in Brussel en
Detroit voorgesteld worden aangezien BMW met de Z4 M Roadster een
ultrasportieve wagen aan het gamma toevoegt. Met die wagen wordt een traditie
voortgezet in een segment dat door BMW M in het leven werd geroepen: met de
lancering van de BMW Z3 M Roadster in 1997 heeft het merk immers de eerste
roadster in serieproductie gecreëerd die in staat was tot grote prestaties.
Met, tot 2002, een verkoop van meer dan 15.000 exemplaren was deze wagen de «
best-seller » binnen zijn klasse en de leider wat dynamisme, wendbaarheid en
sportiviteit betreft. De zes cilinders in lijn M waarmee de Z4 M Roadster is
uitgerust, kreeg in 2005 voor de vijfde opeenvolgende maal de wereldwijde
onderscheiding « Engine of the Year Award ». Met een cilinderinhoud van 3246
cm³, ontwikkelt hij een vermogen van 252 kW (343 pk) bij 7900 tr/min ofwel een
vermogen van 106 pk per liter en een verhouding gewicht/vermogen van 4,1 kg/pk.

Ook de BMW Z4 3.0si en 2.5si bieden een primeur met hun nieuwe automatische
sport versnellingsbak die bediend wordt d.m.v. peddels die zich aan het stuur
bevinden. Door een nieuwe afstelling biedt deze automatische versnellingsbak de
bestuurder de mogelijkheid nog intenser te genieten van het natuurlijk
sportieve karakter van de Z4 Roadster zonder te moeten afzien van het comfort
van een automatische versnellingsbak.

Bij de te onthouden nieuwigheden is er de BMW 318d, een nieuwe motorisatie van
de BMW 3 Reeks Berline die uitermate geschikt is voor de Belgische markt. De
BMW 318d vervolledigt het gamma dat zowel qua diesel- als qua benzinemotoren al
zeer volledig was. De BMW 3 Reeks Touring zal zijn eerste optreden maken op
een Belgisch Salon na de lancering in september 2005 op de IAA van Frankfurt.

Ook in de 5 Reeks, een echte referentie binnen zijn segment, is er een nieuwe
dieselversie verkrijgbaar: met de, Berline en Touring, zal de 5 Reeks nog meer
klanten kunnen overtuigen.

De winterperiode is de periode bij uitstek om de kwaliteiten van het xDrive
systeem tot hun recht te laten komen. Dit systeem van integrale
tractieverdeling dat we al kennen van de BMW X3 en X5, is voortaan ook
beschikbaar op de 3 en de 5 Reeks voor de 2.5i, 3.0i en 3.0d motorisaties
(Berline en Touring).

De 1 Reeks kent een uitbreiding van het aanbod naar boven met een sportieve
versie want deze nieuwe succesvolle Reeks wordt voortaan ook aangeboden met de
geweldige 3.0i motor. Deze 3 liter in lijn motorisatie, die ook verkrijgbaar
is in de 3, 5, 6 en 7 Reeks zonder de X3, de X5 en de Z4 te vergeten, verleent
de BMW 130i kwaliteiten die uniek zijn voor dit segment van het gamma.

In de BMW 7 Reeks wordt een lange versie aangeboden met de 730Ld, een première
voor deze motorisatie. Ook het revolutionaire Night Vision zal worden
aangeboden op de BMW 7 Reeks: dankzij dit systeem kan men op het controlescherm
tot op een afstand van 300 meter mensen en dieren waarnemen dankzij de warmte
die zij uitstralen. Dit systeem onderscheidt zich door de onmogelijkheid tot
verblinding, zijn grote bereik en de heldere en gestructureerde weergave op het
controlescherm.

Voor het merk MINI zullen de « Characters » die in de herfst van 2005
gelanceerd werden, te zien zijn op de stand van de European Motor Show. De «
Characters » zijn drie nieuwe modellen elk met een eigen stijl en
persoonlijkheid - de MINI Seven, de MINI Park Lane en de MINI Checkmate. Ook de
kleine zuinige vierzitter MINI One D zal aanwezig zijn : dankzij een groter
vermogen en koppel van zijn motor biedt deze wagen nog meer fun en een nog
grotere wendbaarheid.

Sensationeel in iedere zin: de BMW Z4 Roadster 2.0i: het instapmodel van de
èchte roadster-ervaring. In april breidt BMW zijn succesvolle roadster-serie
uit met een nieuw instapmodel, dat aangedreven wordt door de viercilindermotor
2.0i van 110 kW/150 pk. Met nagenoeg dezelfde dynamische prestaties als zijn
krachtigere broertjes, accelereert de Z4 Roadster 2.0i uit stilstand naar 100
km/u in slechts 8,2 seconden. De topsnelheid bedraagt eveneens 220 km/u. Het
krachtige koppel van 200 Nm bij 3600 omw/min stelt gepaste flexibiliteit
veilig, waarbij de Z4 Roadster 2.0i van 80 naar 120 km/u herneemt in 8,2
seconden.

De motor: high-tech zoals de BMW zescilinders
Ook al wordt dit nieuwe model aangedreven door een vier- in plaats van een
zescilindermotor, hij beschikt over alle voordelen die zo typisch zijn voor BMW:

- volledig variabele klepbediening met oneindige aanpassing van de in- en
uitlaatnokkenassen (VANOS), inclusief VALVETRONIC, waardoor een perfect
reactievermogen en een harmonieuze vermogensontplooiing verzekerd worden.
Superieure verfijning wordt bereikt door toedoen van twee balansassen;

- de tegelijk zachte en vinnige zesversnellingsbak brengt het motorvermogen
naar de met 205/55 R 16 geschoeide achterwielen. En daarbij zorgt het discrete
maar niettemin sportieve motorgeluid voor een uitstekende ondersteuning van
iedere druk op het gaspedaal of iedere gangwissel.

Alle ingrediënten voor een authentieke rij-ervaring
De Z4 Roadster 2.0i staat inzake rijgenoegen op dezelfde hoogte als zijn broers
Met een uitgekiende ophangingskinematiek, een ver naar achter geschoven
zitpositie en een extreem laag zwaartepunt, heeft het nieuwe model alle
ingediënten in huis die al aanwezig waren bij zijn krachtigere modelgenoten, om
voor superieur rijplezier te zorgen. Het ruime interieur, waarin nieuwe
klemtonen werden gelegd, in combinatie met de soft-top en de cockpit waarin
alleen de meest noodzakelijke wijzerplaten en bedieningsknoppen de aandacht van
de bestuurder kunnen afleiden, de sportzetels en het lederen stuurwiel, staat
borg voor een perfecte harmonie tussen mens en machine.

EuroNCAP: Z4 Roadster beste van zijn klasse
Maar niet alleen door zijn dynamische kwaliteiten staat de BMW Z4 Roadster
boven zijn concurrenten: in de EuroNCAP test 2004 behaalde deze unieke wagen
het beste resultaat ooit met betrekking tot metingen met dummies in een
roadster, waardoor hij de "EuroNCAP Best in Class Award" in de wacht sleepte.
Dat is te danken aan de enorme torsiestijfheid van deze open tweezitter, waarin
de inzittenden beter beschermd zijn dan in eender welke andere uit deze klasse
geteste wagen. In de Z4 Roadster blijven de krachten die bij een ongeval op de
inzittenden inwerken, inderdaad lager dan in de meeste andere moderne open
wagens. Bovendien helpen runflat banden (die ook zonder lucht blijven
functioneren), een bandenspanningsindicator, de tweetraps BMW Brake Force
Display, de DSC Dynamische StabiliteitsControle en de CBC Cornering Brake
Control allemaal om kritieke situaties te voorkomen.

Reeds 100.000 Z4 Roadsters geleverd
Sinds de introductie van de BMW Z4 Roadster eind 2001, werden al zowat 100.000
van dit in de Amerikaanse BMW-fabriek in Spartanburg gebouwde model, aan
klanten geleverd. Nog opvallender is het feit dat het om modellen gaat, die
allemaal aangedreven worden door prestigieuze zescilindermotoren van 2,2, 2,5
en 3,0 liter, die vermogens ontwikkelen van respectievelijk 125, 141 en 170 kW.

De Z4 Roadster 2.0i heeft dus alles om dit succesverhaal verder te zetten.
Het nieuwe model zal zijn debuut maken op het Salon van Genève, begin maart
2005.

De productie ervan start in april en half mei zullen de eerste exemplaren
geleverd kunnen worden aan klanten in Europa en Azië.

De prijs van de Z4 2.0i zal in België € 30.300 bedragen BTW incl.
