A small group of BMW Motorrad employees had the opportunity to bring this passion to life. As part of an extraordinary project, Philipp Ludwig served as project manager, vehicle designer Andreas Martin, Theresa Stukenbrock as colour and graphic designer, and prototype builders Paul Summerer and Thomas Becker, who brought their experience and passion to the project, worked together to create a unique vehicle.

The BMW R 1300 R "TITAN" - brute and aggressive, beautiful and extraordinary, fast and precise - built to win.

Its design incorporates the basic styling elements of the new BMW R 1300 R, translating them into the aggressive lines of a sprint racer.

The characteristic lines of the BMW R 1300 R tank and fairing are reflected in the monocoque typical of racing machines and the striking air duct panel of the standard machine continues the dynamics of the "TITAN" in an exaggerated sense.

Visually, the weight is pushed over the front wheel to keep it on the tarmac for as long as possible when starting off.

The motorcycle's overall proportions are compactly built around the centrepiece: the 1300cc boxer engine. It also resembles a predatory cat, patiently waiting to sprint off even when stationary.

In contrast to the forged carbon-fibre underneath, the striking graphic captures the impression of movement with a modern, clear interpretation complemented by metallic blue accents.

Akrapovic, a long-standing BMW Motorrad partner, assisted in developing the BMW R 1300 R "TITAN." This collaboration enabled the team to design a comprehensive titanium Akrapovic exhaust system that enhances the powerful character of this custom bike, both visually and acoustically. The exhaust runs out of the two cylinders, comes together briefly under the bike, and ends in a boxer-style, two-flow outlet under the towering, aggressively rising rear end. 

The new BMW R 1300 R has a low profile on the tarmac, supported by a specially manufactured Wilbers chassis with a long swinging arm. This chassis is hard-tuned to ensure that no performance of the series-production engine is wasted.

An aggressive-looking nitrous oxide bottle sits between the two titanium rear silencers, injecting the injection system with nitrous oxide at the touch of a button. This propels the rider and machine toward the finish line with extra power.

Once the oxygen transporter arrives in the engine, the sheer power thrusts the tires into the tarmac via the transmission and shaft drive, catapulting the BMW R 1300 R "TITAN" forward.

The gears slot into place precisely and the Magura HC3 brake lever recaptures the released energy after the finish line, decelerating the bike to a stop.

The footrests extend far to the rear, providing Philipp with the necessary support during sprint races.

The new BMW R 1300 RS: The new sports tourer with boxer engine, featuring refined technology and styling, along with a dynamic design that signals sporty flair. Four attractive model variants.

The goal behind developing the new BMW R 1300 RS was to achieve both a visual and technical enhancement of the sports touring bike with boxer engine. Alongside its much sportier design, equipment features such as the Performance variant – including a sport suspension, short hand levers, milled and adjustable footrests, DTC-Shift, two additional sport screens, sport seat, engine spoiler and sport tyres – allow customers to dial up the bike’s dynamic potential even further. At the same time, the BMW R 1300 RS remains a capable companion for everyday use and touring, and with options such as seat heating, Riding Assistant, a higher windscreen, and a variety of luggage choices, the bike can be perfectly tailored to individual needs of this type.

In addition to the basic version in Racing Blue metallic, the BMW R 1300 RS is also available as the Triple Black model variant in Blackstorm metallic, the sport-focused Performance variant in Lightwhite uni, and the premium Option 719 Cuyamaca variant in Brooklyn Grey metallic.

Sporty ergonomics and equipment for both dynamic riding fun on country roads as well as comfortable touring and travel.

The BMW Motorrad developers set out to make the new BMW R 1300 RS significantly more dynamic and sporty than its predecessor – a goal the new sports touring bike with boxer engine fulfils not only in terms of design, engine and chassis: equal importance was also placed on ergonomics, with a focus on creating a sportier, more active riding position.

Accordingly, the ergonomic triangle formed by handlebars, footrests and seat on the new R 1300 RS has been designed to position the rider noticeably further forward over the front wheel thanks to slightly rear-set footrests and flatter handlebars. This results in particular in improved feedback from the front end, especially during sporty riding, and therefore even greater controllability. At the same time, the sporty seating position still allows for relaxed touring and travel, even with a passenger. For a more touring-oriented riding position, the optional comfort handlebars are also available.

Various seat options and comfort handlebars allow for an optimised seating position. Featuring electrified cases and topcase, along with a clever tank bag, a new luggage system ensures a comfortable experience on extended tours and holiday trips.

Since the launch of the BMW R 100 RS in 1976, BMW RS models with boxer engines have earned a legendary reputation for perfectly combining sporty motorcycling, the thrill of cornering and comfortable touring. For this reason, the new BMW R 1300 RS not only features a new luggage system, but also offers a wide range of seat variants and optional comfort handlebars to meet the individual ergonomic needs of all riders. In addition to the standard rider’s seat, five others are available as individual items of optional equipment ex works.

For touring and holiday trips, the new BMW R 1300 RS can be equipped ex works with case holders and a topcase carrier, while a newly developed case system and topcase are available as part of the Original BMW Motorrad Accessories range. The cases offer a capacity of 26 and 29 litres respectively, while the topcase holds 39 litres. The two cases and the topcase are electrified and can be unlocked using the central locking system. Both the cases and the topcase also feature interior lighting, while the left-hand case and the topcase additionally include a USB-C charging port. The tank bag is also new. For the first time, it is completely strapless and attaches to the bike via a tank ring.

Rugged boxer engine with top figures for power and torque along with optimised running smoothness and efficiency.

The boxer engine in the new BMW R 1300 RS has a capacity of exactly 1 300 cc while the ratio between bore and stroke is 106.5 to 73 mm (predecessor: 102.5 to 76 mm). This increase in capacity derives from an enlarged cylinder bore and a new crankshaft with reduced stroke. It has an output of 107 kW (145 hp) (predecessor: 100 kW (136 hp), still at 7 750 rpm, and develops a maximum torque of 149 Nm at 6 500 rpm (predecessor: 
143 Nm at 6 250 rpm), making it by far the most powerful serial production BMW boxer engine to date. Its maximum engine speed is 9 000 rpm.

Three riding modes are included as standard, allowing the bike to adapt ideally to any road conditions. Riding Modes Pro with the additional modes “Dynamic” and “Dynamic Pro”, along with riding mode pre-selection as optional equipment ex works. Engine drag torque control (MSR) as standard.

In standard trim, the new R 1300 RS has three riding modes for adaptation to individual rider preferences. The “Rain” and “Road” riding modes allow riding characteristics to be adapted to most road conditions. The “Eco” riding mode also makes it possible to use the innovative BMW ShiftCam technology primarily in such a way that the maximum range can be achieved with a single tank of fuel. On request the new R 1300 RS can also be fitted with the optional equipment item “Riding Modes Pro” ex works. Among other things, this comprises the additional riding modes “Dynamic” and “Dynamic Pro”. With the riding mode pre-selection the rider can use the riding mode button to make an individual selection. In this way, a preferred and easily manageable number of riding modes can be configured and selected while riding.

Engine drag torque control (MSR) is on board even in standard trim. This can be used to safely avoid unstable riding conditions that can occur during coasting or downshifting due to excessive brake slip at the rear wheel. In these cases, MSR instantly opens the throttle valves to such an extent that drag torque is equalised and the motorcycle stabilises.

Automated shift assistant (ASA) with fully automated clutch operation and manual or automated shifting for an enhanced motorcycling experience as optional equipment.

With the automated shift assistant (ASA), BMW Motorrad offers an innovative technical solution to make motorcycling easier and more comfortable. True to the motto “Simplify your Ride”, automated clutch operation and gear changes puts the riding experience even more front and centre – without sacrificing the dynamic of the shifting process.

Completely newly developed chassis with sheet metal main frame made of steel and aluminium rear frame.

The chassis of the new BMW R 1300 RS has been completely redesigned. The centrepiece is the new sheet metal main frame made of steel, which in addition to a significant optimisation of the installation space for even more compact packaging also offers higher levels of stiffness than the predecessor model. In the course of the redesign, the rear frame was also completely reconceived. In place of the previous tubular steel construction, the new R 1300 RS now has a rear frame made of die-cast aluminium.

In combination with a drive unit that is now much more compact, the new design of the chassis achieved a significant concentration of mass towards the overall centre of gravity, which is reflected in noticeable handling benefits. At the same time, the new R 1300 RS is even more precise and stable when braking, requires noticeably less effort to ride, and offers an even more satisfyingly precise response of the suspension elements.

New upside-down telescopic fork and new EVO Paralever rear suspension for even greater precision. New wheels more than 1.4 kg lighter.

In the new BMW R 1300 RS, front wheel guide is handled by a new upside-down telescopic fork with an inner tube diameter of 47 mm. The rear wheel guide of the new 
R 1300 RS has also been redesigned. The hallmark of the Evo Paralever is a significantly stiffer connection via the suspension in the frame and a continuous swinging arm quick-release axle.

The new R 1300 RS also features new 17-inch aluminium cast wheels with hollow-spoke design. All in all they weigh in at more than 1.4 kg less than the existing wheels. The reduced rotational masses result in both improved acceleration and brake response as well as optimised handling qualities.

New electronic Dynamic Suspension Adjustment (DSA), with dynamic adjustment of the damping, spring rate and load compensation as optional equipment. The world’s first series production motorcycle telescopic fork with adjustable spring rate.

With its dynamic adjustment of the damping and adjustable spring rest at the rear, the standard electronic Dynamic ESA itself offers a high level of ride safety and riding fun on a wide variety of terrains.

The electronic Dynamic Suspension Adjustment (DSA) now goes one step further, combining the dynamic adjustment of the front and rear damping with a corresponding adjustment of the spring rate (“spring stiffness”) – depending on the selected riding mode, riding condition and manoeuvres. After the new R 1300 R presented a few weeks ago, this makes the new BMW R 1300 RS the second series production motorcycle with an upside-down telescopic fork that allows adjustment of the spring rate. Automatic load compensation is provided by the adjustable spring rest. With DSA, the rider benefits from even more refined handling and increased banking freedom in “Dynamic” mode.

A high-performance braking system in conjunction with Integral ABS Pro comes as standard. Sport brake as optional equipment ex works.

The new R 1300 RS comes as standard with a twin disc brake featuring two radially mounted four-piston fixed callipers at the front and a single disc brake with two-piston floating calliper at the rear in conjunction with BMW Motorrad Integral ABS Pro. The new BMW R 1300 RS can be fitted with the sport brake system as optional equipment ex works. In addition to a sportier look with titanium-coloured brake callipers, it offers a slight increase in braking performance.

Standard full LED headlight with separate high beam and state-of-the-art LED light units all round. For the first time on a  BMW RS, Headlight Pro with adaptive turning light is available as optional equipment ex works.

BMW Motorrad is regarded as the pioneer par excellence when it comes to motorcycling safety and related innovations. Accordingly, the new R 1300 RS comes as standard with a newly designed twin-chamber LED headlight in a very slim, sporty design featuring a distinctive light icon. The lighting unit comprises two LED elements for the low beam and two additional, separately positioned LED elements for the high beam. Two more LED units are provided for the daytime running light and side light. State-of-the-art LED light units with newly designed LED rear light round off the lighting concept of the new 
R 1300 RS.

With the optional Adaptive Turning Light, the dipped beam of the standard full LED headlight is optimised for cornering, depending on the banking position, by activating additional LED elements. In this way, the bend is almost fully illuminated because the light moves to where the motorcycle is heading. By optimising the light pattern, the dipped beam light ensures an even wider and more homogeneous illumination of the road.

Riding Assistant with Active Cruise Control (ACC), Front Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Change Warning (SWW) and Rear End Collision Warning (RECW) for more convenient and safer motorcycling as optional equipment ex works.

The new R 1300 RS comes as standard with Dynamic Cruise Control (DCC) with braking function, while the Riding Assistant as optional equipment ex works offers a significantly wider range of functions, including Active Cruise Control (ACC), Front Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Change Warning (SWW), and the new Rear End Collision Warning (RECW).

For the first time, navigation preparation now features electric locking for maximum operating comfort as optional equipment ex works.

This item of ex works optional equipment allows quick and secure attachment and operation of a navigation device or smartphone using a mount cradle. For the first time, this mount no longer requires a key – it unlocks electrically for maximum convenience.

The new BMW R 1300 RT: Wider range from comfortable tourer to dynamic country road motorcycle. Dynamic design language with optimised wind and weather protection.

The new BMW R 1300 RT follows in the footsteps of its highly successful predecessor. It continues to build on the proven qualities of the BMW RT, such as touring capability and riding comfort - alone, as a pair or with plenty of luggage.

At the same time, the new R 1300 RT has broadened its usage profile by making its dynamic systems even more prominent. Sporty optional equipment such as the sport brake, the enhanced Shift Assistant Pro and the newly developed DCA electronic suspension allow an even more active and dynamic riding style. The range of optional extras is complemented by the Automated Shift Assistant ASA, which can be ridden in a sporty and dynamic manual mode, but also allows comfortable riding in automatic mode. All this, combined with a more dynamic and visually lighter design, promises to continue the success story of the BMW RT.

The wind and weather protection concept of the new R 1300 RT includes adjustable side trim that is homogeneously integrated into the design. This makes it possible to provide the rider with an adequate supply of fresh air at all times, even in challenging conditions such as city traffic or high outside temperatures on country roads, and to offer highly effective protection from the wind and weather at low temperatures when riding on the highway or motorway. 

In addition to the basic version in Alpine White 3 uni colour, the new BMW R 1300 RT is available in the Triple Black model variant in Blackstorm metallic, the emphatically dynamic Impulse model variant in Racing Blue metallic and the particularly elegant model variant Option 719 Camargue in Blue Ridge Mountain metallic.

Perfect ergonomics and equipment for comfortable and dynamic travelling and touring.

The BMW R 1300 RT's design, engine and chassis are not the only aspects of the BMW touring icon that reflect the BMW Motorrad development team's ambition to expand the range of possible uses of the new BMW R 1300 RT and make it even more dynamic. Equal importance was also placed on ergonomics, with a focus on creating a more active riding position.

Accordingly, the ergonomic triangle formed by handlebars, footrests and seat on the new R 1300 RT have been designed to position the rider noticeably further forward. This results in improved feedback from the front section and therefore even greater controllability during dynamic riding. At the same time, the more active seating position still allows for relaxed touring and cruising, even with a passenger. The height and angle of the rider's seat can be adjusted to fine-tune the riding position. Passenger comfort has also been significantly improved. The new cases now offer more space for the passenger’s lower legs without compromising the volume of the cases. The passenger seat has also been lengthened. There is now more space to change your seating position from time to time on longer trips.

A choice of different seat heights for optimum riding comfort and a new luggage system with electric cases and topcase. Additional variable-volume case system for optimum customisation.

As usual, BMW Motorrad's engineers have paid particular attention to easy access and a low seat height. For this reason, the development of the new R 1300 RT placed particular focus on achieving a seat height of only 780 mm. The inner leg curve is also significantly smaller than on the previous model. In addition to the standard seat, other seats are available as individual items of optional equipment ex works.

The new BMW R 1300 RT is equipped as standard with cases (27 litres each) for touring and holiday trips. Further highlights of the new R 1300 RT are the Vario cases, available ex works for the first time as an optional equipment for a BMW RT. The variable luggage system allows the volume to be adjusted from 27 to 33 litres to suit the width of the motorcycle. Both cases are electrified and can be unlocked using the central locking system. They also both feature interior lighting, and the left-hand case includes a USB-C charging port. The two topcases with a capacity of 39 and 54 litres respectively offer additional storage space. The large 54-litre luggage compartment is also electric. A special feature is the heated backrest for the passenger.

The front wheel guide in the new R 1300 RT follows the Telelever principle introduced by BMW Motorrad 30 years ago - but in an innovative, newly designed form that combines the best of both worlds.

With the Evo Telelever, BMW Motorrad now combines the strengths of the two previously used Telelever variants in the new BMW R 1300 RT. Clamped tightly to the fork tubes - as previously in the sporty design - the upper fork construction (as in the GS) incorporates a handlebar decoupling system that prevents any detrimental tilting movement and only transmits steering forces.

The rear wheel guide of the new R 1300 RT has also been redesigned. The hallmark of the Evo Paralever is a significantly stiffer connection via the suspension in the frame and a continuous swinging arm quick-release axle.

New electronic suspension Dynamic Chassis Adaption (DCA) for two rider-selectable riding positions for maximum spread between ride comfort and dynamic handling as well as with dynamic adjustment of damping, spring rate and load equalisation as optional equipment ex works.

Even the standard Dynamic ESA electronic chassis offers a high level of riding safety and riding enjoyment on a wide variety of road surfaces thanks to dynamic adjustment of the damping and load-dependent adjustment of the rear spring preload.

The electronic Dynamic Chassis Adaption (DCA) now goes one step further and, in addition to the familiar Dynamic Suspension Adjustment (DSA) options - such as dynamic adjustment of damping, spring rate and load equalisation - offers two rider-selectable riding positions via the riding modes for maximum spread between ride comfort and dynamic handling. This makes for an even more thrilling riding experience in all conditions.

DCA has been developed with equal emphasis on dynamic performance and comfort. The new semi-active chassis offers two different riding positions. One riding position has a flat steering head angle and therefore a chassis geometry designed to maximise riding stability and smoothness. The second riding position features firmer damping tuning, a higher spring rate and a higher ride height. Raising the rear end more than the front results in a steeper steering head angle and reduced castor, making the motorcycle easier to steer and handle. DCA makes these two different chassis geometries possible and combines them with the riding modes.

The R 1300 RT comes as standard with a twin disc brake featuring two radially mounted four-piston fixed callipers at the front and a single disc brake with two-piston floating calliper at the rear in conjunction with BMW Motorrad Integral ABS Pro. The new
BMW R 1300 RT can be fitted with the sport brake system as optional equipment ex works. In addition to a sportier look with titanium-coloured brake callipers, it offers a slight increase in braking performance.

New full LED headlights and state-of-the-art LED light units feature all round. Headlight Pro with adaptive headlight and pitch compensation as well as adaptive light modes with intelligent adjustment of the alignment and intensity of the low beam to different riding situations are available as optional equipment ex works.

For decades now, BMW Motorrad has been regarded as a frontrunner when it comes to safety in connection with motorcycling. Accordingly, the new R 1300 RT comes with state-of-the-art LED light units all around as standard. The new full LED headlamp which illuminates the road with unrivalled brightness and clarity, underlines the prestige of the new R 1300 RT. The light unit consists of an LED module with multiple LEDs for low beam and high beam. The daytime running light or position light icon (depending on the market), which is positioned to the left and right of the headlamp, provides a distinctive look.

Headlight Pro goes one step further available as optional equipment ex works. In addition to the adaptive headlight, the headlamp of the new R 1300 RT also features pitch compensation - for example when accelerating and decelerating as well as for levelling the riding position in DCA. Headlight Pro features a servomotor that automatically and actively adjusts the position of the cut-off line to keep the vertical inclination within the optimum range when the load or load status changes.

Headlight Pro can be further enhanced with the optional “Adaptive Light Modes” (depending on market), which offer lighting technology that intelligently adapts the direction and intensity of the low beam to different riding situations. The Adaptive Lighting Modes provide optimum lighting conditions for night-time riding with speed-dependent road illumination. Lighting is provided in several stages: for low, medium and high speeds. Intelligent adaptation to speed and riding conditions increases safety and helps to guide the rider.

The new R 1300 RT is already equipped with Dynamic Cruise Control (DCC) with braking function as standard. The Riding Assistant offers many more functions as an optional extra ex works. It consists of Active Cruise Control (ACC), Front Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Change Warning (SWW) and Rear End Collision Warning (RECW).

10.25-inch TFT colour display with map navigation, a wide range of functions and new Connectivity Hub for controlling accessories as well as actively ventilated smartphone charging compartment with USB-C charging port as standard.

The R 1300 RT comes fitted as standard with a 10.25-inch TFT colour screen with integrated map navigation and newly developed Connectivity Hub. With maximum connectivity, excellent readability, clear menu navigation and a highly integrated operating concept, the new R 1300 RT maintains its leading position among production motorcycles.

The “tiles” shown can be used to select the “My Motorcycle”, “Radio”, “Navigation”, “Media”, “Phone” and “Settings” menus. A new feature is the Connectivity Hub "tile" for connecting current and future accessories such as smart glasses, heated vests and lightweight jackets. This simplifies the operation of the accessories.

The new R 1300 RT comes as standard with an actively ventilated smartphone charging compartment located within the rider's reach. It is even easier to open than its predecessor and can accommodate much larger smartphones. The smartphone battery is charged via a USB-C interface. The lid also has a clip that can be used for a debit card or banknotes.

With the Audio System, the new R 1300 RT offers an even more intense sound experience. It features a high level of integration with the vehicle's electrical system. The menu control, setting options and unique display concept make the audio experience perfect in terms of interaction as well. In addition to the loudspeakers, a connected communication system can also be used for playback.

Audio Pro offers an even more impressive sound experience. Ordered as optional equipment to the audio system, it features higher quality loudspeakers with separate tweeter/midrange and woofer control for extra powerful, crystal-clear sound. De nieuwe BMW R 1300 R: de nieuwe dynamische roadster met boxermotor oogt en rijdt merkbaar sportiever, met een dynamische stijl en een gespierd en atletisch design. Vier aantrekkelijke uitrustingsvarianten.

De ontwikkeling van de nieuwe BMW R 1300 R had als doel om de dynamische roadster met boxermotor zowel op visueel als technisch vlak te verbeteren. Naast het assertievere, sportievere design kunnen klanten het dynamische potentieel van de motorfiets nog verder opvoeren met uitrustingskenmerken zoals de Performance-variant, inclusief sportvering, korte hendels, gefreesde en verstelbare voetsteunen, DTC-Shift, twee extra sportschermen, sportzitting, motorspoiler en sportbanden. Tegelijkertijd blijft de BMW R 1300 R een capabele metgezel voor dagelijks gebruik en tourtochten. Dankzij opties zoals de verwarmbare zitting, Riding Assistant, het hogere windscherm en de vele bagagemogelijkheden kan de motorfiets bovendien perfect worden afgestemd op de meest individuele behoeften.

De basisversie van de BMW R 1300 R wordt aangeboden in Snapper Rocks metallic maar daarnaast zijn nog bijkomende uitvoeringen verkrijgbaar, waaronder de Exclusive-versie in Racing Blue metallic, de sportgerichte Performance-versie in Lightwhite uni en de hoogwaardige Option 719 Kilauea in Blackstorm metallic.

Sportieve ergonomie en uitrusting voor zowel dynamisch rijplezier als tourcomfort.

De ontwikkelaars van BMW Motorrad wilden de nieuwe BMW R 1300 R gevoelig dynamischer en sportiever maken dan zijn voorganger. Dat doel vervult de nieuwe dynamische roadster met boxermotor trouwens niet alleen met zijn design, motor en chassis: er werd ook veel belang gehecht aan de ergonomie, met de nadruk op het creëren van een sportievere, actievere rijhouding.

De ergonomische driehoek, gevormd door het stuur, de voetsteunen en de zitting van de nieuwe BMW R 1300 R, is dan ook ontworpen om de rijder merkbaar meer naar voren over het voorwiel te positioneren dankzij de iets naar achteren geplaatste voetsteunen en het vlakkere stuur. Dat resulteert met name in een verbeterde feedback van de voorkant, vooral bij een sportieve rijstijl, met een nog betere beheersbaarheid als resultaat. Tegelijkertijd maakt de sportieve zitpositie het nog steeds mogelijk om ontspannen te touren en te cruisen, zelfs met een passagier. Optioneel is ook een Comfort-stuur verkrijgbaar.

De ruime keuze aan zittingen garandeert een optimale zithoogte, terwijl het nieuw ontwikkelde bagagesysteem met elektrische koffers en slimme tanktas de R 1300 R perfect afstemt op comfortabele tourtochten en vakantiereizen.

De roadsters met boxermotor van BMW genieten al jaren een uitstekende reputatie bij vrouwelijke klanten en vooral bij herstarters. Dat is te danken aan hun goede toegankelijkheid en lage zithoogte. Daarom werd bij de ontwikkeling van de nieuwe R 1300 R eens te meer bijzondere aandacht besteed aan de zithoogte, die ruim onder de 790 millimeter blijft. Naast de standaardzitting zijn er af fabriek nog diverse andere zittingen verkrijgbaar als afzonderlijke opties.

Voor tour- en vakantieritten kan de nieuwe BMW R 1300 R worden uitgerust met een nieuw ontwikkeld koffersysteem en kofferhouders uit het gamma originele accessoires van BMW Motorrad, alsook met een voorbereiding voor het koffersysteem als optionele uitrusting af fabriek. De koffers hebben een inhoud van respectievelijk 26 en 29 liter. Beide koffers zijn geëlektrificeerd en kunnen worden ontgrendeld met de centrale vergrendeling. Ook zijn ze allebei voorzien van binnenverlichting en heeft de koffer aan de linkerkant een USB-C-oplaadpoort. De tanktas is eveneens nieuw. Ze is voor het eerst volledig zonder riemen en wordt aan de motor bevestigd via een tankring.

Robuuste boxermotor met uitmuntende vermogens- en koppelwaarden in combinatie met een geoptimaliseerde soepelheid en efficiëntie.

De boxermotor van de nieuwe BMW R 1300 R heeft een cilinderinhoud van precies 1.300 cm³, terwijl de verhouding tussen boring en slag 106,5 op 73 millimeter bedraagt (voorganger: 102,5 op 76 millimeter). Deze grotere longinhoud is te danken aan een grotere cilinderboring en een nieuwe krukas met een kleinere slag. Zo haalt de motor een vermogen van 107 kW / 145 pk (voorganger: 100 kW / 136 pk), bij 7.750 t/min (ongewijzigd) en ontwikkelt hij een maximumkoppel van 149 Nm bij 6.500 t/min (voorganger: 143 Nm bij 6.250 t/min). Daarmee is hij veruit de krachtigste in serie geproduceerde BMW-boxermotor tot nu toe. Het maximale motortoerental is 9.000 t/min.

Standaard worden drie rijmodi meegeleverd, zodat de motor optimaal kan worden aangepast aan alle wegomstandigheden. De Riding Modes Pro met de extra modi 'Dynamic' en 'Dynamic Pro' en de rijmodusvoorselectie zijn als fabrieksoptie verkrijgbaar. Standaard motorkoppelregeling (MSR).

In standaarduitvoering heeft de nieuwe R 1300 R drie rijmodi om de motor aan te passen aan de individuele voorkeuren van de rijder. Met de rijmodi 'Rain' en 'Road' kunnen de rijeigenschappen op de meeste wegomstandigheden worden afgestemd. De rijmodus 'Eco' maakt het bovendien mogelijk om de innovatieve BMW ShiftCam-technologie vooral te gebruiken om het maximale rijbereik met één tank brandstof te bereiken. Op verzoek kan de nieuwe R 1300 R ook af fabriek worden uitgerust met de optionele 'Riding Modes Pro': deze optie omvat onder meer de extra rijmodi 'Dynamic' en 'Dynamic Pro'. Met de rijmodusvoorselectie kan de rijder de rijmodusknop gebruiken om een individuele selectie te maken. Op deze manier kan hij naar wens een gemakkelijk te beheren aantal rijmodi configureren om tijdens het rijden te selecteren.

De motorkoppelregeling (MSR) is steeds aanwezig, zelfs op de standaarduitvoering. Deze voorziening kan worden gebruikt om op een veilige manier onstabiele rijomstandigheden te vermijden die tijdens het uitrollen of terugschakelen kunnen optreden als gevolg van overmatige remslip bij het achterwiel. In deze gevallen opent MSR onmiddellijk de gaskleppen, zodat het weerstandskoppel wordt afgevlakt en de motorfiets zich stabiliseert.

Automated Shift Assistant (ASA) met volautomatische koppelingsbediening en handmatig of automatisch schakelen voor een verbeterde motorrijervaring als optie verkrijgbaar.

Met de nieuwe Automated Shift Assistant (ASA) biedt BMW Motorrad een innovatieve technische oplossing om motorrijden eenvoudiger en comfortabeler te maken. Onder het motto "Simplify your Ride" zorgen de geautomatiseerde koppeling en schakelovergangen ervoor dat de rijervaring nog meer centraal komt te staan, zonder dat dit ten koste gaat van de dynamiek van het schakelproces.

Volledig nieuw ontwikkeld chassis met plaatstalen hoofdframe en aluminium achterframe.

Het chassis van de nieuwe BMW R 1300 R werd volledig hertekend. Het middelpunt is het nieuwe plaatstalen hoofdframe, dat naast een sterk geoptimaliseerde installatieruimte voor een nog compactere lay-out ook een hogere stijfheid biedt dan het vorige model. Tijdens het herontwerpproces werd ook het achterframe volledig hertekend. In plaats van de vorige stalen buizenconstructie heeft de nieuwe R 1300 R nu een achterframe van gegoten aluminium.

In combinatie met een veel compactere aandrijfeenheid, zorgde het nieuwe ontwerp van het chassis voor een aanzienlijke concentratie van massa in de richting van het globale zwaartepunt. Tegelijkertijd is de nieuwe R 1300 R nog preciezer en stabieler bij het remmen, vergt hij merkbaar minder inspanning om te rijden en biedt hij een nog aangenamere nauwkeurige respons van de veerelementen.

Nieuwe omgekeerde telescoopvork en herziene EVO Paralever II-achtervering voor nog meer stuurprecisie. Nieuwe wielen ruim 1,4 kilogram lichter.

In de nieuwe BMW R 1300 R wordt de geleiding van het voorwiel verzorgd door een nieuwe omgekeerde telescoopvork met een binnenbuisdiameter van 47 mm. De achterwielgeleider van de nieuwe R 1300 R werd eveneens opnieuw ontworpen. De grootste troef van de Evo Paralever II schuilt in zijn gevoelig stijvere verbinding via de vering in het frame en een doorlopende snelspanas in de swingarm.

De nieuwe R 1300 R heeft ook nieuwe 17"-velgen in gegoten aluminium met holle spaken. Alles bij elkaar wegen ze ruim 1,4 kilogram minder dan de bestaande wielen. Het lagere rotatiegewicht optimaliseert zowel de acceleratie- en remrespons als de rijeigenschappen.

De nieuwe elektronische Dynamic Suspension Adjustment (DSA), met belastingcompensatie en dynamische aanpassing van de schokdemping en veeruitslag, is als optie verkrijgbaar. 's Werelds eerste in serie geproduceerde telescoopvork met instelbare veerverhouding.

Met zijn dynamische afstelling van de demping en verstelbare veersteun achteraan biedt het standaard gemonteerde elektronische Dynamic ESA-systeem zelf een hoge mate van rijveiligheid en rijplezier op de meest uiteenlopende terreinen.

De elektronische Dynamic Suspension Adjustment (DSA) gaat echter nog een stap verder en combineert de dynamische afstelling van de schokdempers voor- en achteraan met een overeenkomstige afstelling van de veerstijfheid (naargelang de gekozen rijmodus, de rijomstandigheden en de manoeuvres). Daarmee is de nieuwe BMW R 1300 R de eerste in serie geproduceerde motorfiets met een omgekeerde telescoopvork waarmee de veerverhouding kan worden aangepast. De verstelbare veersteun compenseert automatisch de belasting. Met DSA profiteert de rijder van een nog verfijnder rijgedrag en meer vrijheid bij het sturen.

Standaard uiterst krachtig remsysteem in combinatie met Integral ABS Pro. Een sportremsysteem is als fabrieksoptie leverbaar.

De R 1300 R wordt standaard geleverd met een dubbele schijfrem met twee radiaal gemonteerde vaste remklauwen met vier zuigers aan de voorzijde en een enkele schijfrem met een zwevende remklauw met twee zuigers aan de achterzijde in combinatie met BMW Motorrad Integral ABS Pro. De nieuwe BMW R 1300 R kan als fabrieksoptie worden uitgerust met een sportremsysteem. Naast een sportievere look met titaniumkleurige remklauwen, biedt dat systeem licht verbeterde remprestaties.

Standaard 'full led'-koplamp in dynamisch achthoekig design en overal uiterst geavanceerde ledverlichting. Headlight Pro met adaptieve richtingaanwijzer als fabrieksoptie verkrijgbaar.

BMW Motorrad wordt beschouwd als dé pionier op het vlak van motorveiligheid en aanverwante innovaties. Daarom wordt de nieuwe R 1300 R standaard geleverd met een nieuw ontworpen ledkoplamp in een dynamische achthoekige vorm, voorzien van een opvallend lichtpictogram.

Met het optionele Adaptive Turning Light wordt de dimlichtbundel van de standaard 'full led'-koplamp geoptimaliseerd voor bochten door naargelang de hellingsgraad extra ledsegmenten te activeren. Op die manier wordt de bocht zo goed als volledig verlicht omdat het licht beweegt naar waar de motor heen rijdt. Door het lichtpatroon te optimaliseren, zorgt de dimlichtbundel voor een nog bredere en homogenere verlichting van de weg.

De nieuwe BMW R 1300 R kan worden uitgerust met de Riding Assistant om nog veiliger en comfortabeler te rijden. Dat omvat Active Cruise Control (ACC) en Frontal Collision Warning (FCW).

Voor het eerst beschikt de navigatievoorbereiding af fabriek over een elektrische vergrendeling voor maximaal bedieningscomfort.

Met deze fabrieksoptie kan een navigatiesysteem of smartphone snel en veilig worden bevestigd en bediend met behulp van een houder. Voor het eerst heeft deze houder geen sleutel meer nodig: hij wordt elektrisch ontgrendeld voor maximaal gebruiksgemak.

Om ervoor te zorgen dat dit ook in de toekomst het geval blijft en om avontuurlijke motorrijders nog meer expertise te bieden, heeft BMW Motorrad de motor, het chassis, het koetswerk, het design en het opbergconcept van de nieuwe R 1300 GS Adventure bijna volledig herzien in vergelijking met het vorige model, waardoor de hoekstenen van de BMW GS Adventure naar een nieuw niveau werden getild.

De legendarische tweecilinder-boxermotor vormt eens te meer het hart van de nieuwe R 1300 GS Adventure. Het nieuwe design, dat voor het eerst werd geïntroduceerd op de R 1300 GS, is veel compacter dan dat van zijn voorganger dankzij de onder de motor geplaatste transmissie en de nieuwe opstelling van de nokkenasaandrijving. Uit zijn cilinderinhoud van 1.300 cm³ puurt hij 107 kW (145 pk) bij 7.750 t/min en een maximumkoppel van 149 Nm bij 6.500 t/min. Daarmee is hij veruit de krachtigste in serie gebouwde BMW boxermotor ooit.

De nieuwe ophanging werd opgebouwd rond een stalen hoofdframe met behuizing in plaatstaal, dat niet alleen ingrijpend werd geoptimaliseerd in termen van installatieruimte, maar ook stijver is dan bij het vorige model. In plaats van de vorige staalbuisconstructie beschikt de nieuwe R 1300 GS Adventure nu over een achterframe met aluminium roosterbuizen, gemaakt van aluminium buizen en gesmede onderdelen. De EVO Telelever-voorwielgeleiding met flex-element en de herwerkte EVO Paralever-achterwielgeleiding staan bovendien garant voor een nog grotere stuurprecisie en rijstabiliteit.

Standaard geleverd af fabriek: de nieuwe elektronische Dynamic Suspension Adjustment (DSA) met belastingcompensatie en dynamische aanpassing van de schokdempers en veeruitslag.

De vorige elektronische ophanging, Dynamic ESA Next Generation, zorgde al voor een hoog niveau van rijveiligheid en rijplezier op de meest uiteenlopende terreinen, dankzij zijn dynamische aanpassing van de schokdemping en de verstelbare veerbasis achteraan. De nieuwe elektronische Dynamic Suspension Adjustment (DSA) gaat echter nog een stap verder en combineert de dynamische afstelling van de schokdempers voor- en achteraan met een overeenkomstige afstelling van de veerstijfheid (naargelang de gekozen rijmodus, de rijomstandigheden en de manoeuvres). De automatische aanpassing van de veerbasis compenseert de belasting. Dat zorgt voor een nog meeslependere rijervaring op elke ondergrond. Solo, met passagier of met een overvloed aan bagage: DSA garandeert een nog hoger niveau van rijveiligheid, prestaties en comfort.

Adaptive Vehicle Height Control en Adaptive Vehicle Height Control Comfort met verlagingsfunctie verkrijgbaar als optie af fabriek.

De nieuwe Adaptive Vehicle Height Control en Adaptive Vehicle Height Control Comfort zijn als opties af fabriek verkrijgbaar voor het chassis van de nieuwe R 1300 GS Adventure.

Met Adaptive Vehicle Height Control past de nieuwe R 1300 GS zich aan alle bedrijfsomstandigheden aan en garandeert hij een maximaal comfort zonder compromissen te sluiten op het vlak van rijdynamiek en hellingshoek. Bij stilstand en lage snelheden wordt de voertuighoogte met 30 millimeter verlaagd.

De nieuwe R 1300 GS Adventure kan ook worden uitgerust met de optionele Adaptive Vehicle Height Control Comfort, ideaal voor kleinere rijders of voor een bijzonder goede toegankelijkheid en nog eenvoudiger weggedrag. Hij heeft alle kenmerken en functies van de hoogteregeling en een standaardhoogte die 20 millimeter lager is.

Voortaan standaard vier rijmodi. ‘Enduro’-rijmodus voor een verbeterde terreinervaring.

Zelfs in de standaardversie heeft de nieuwe R 1300 GS Adventure voortaan vier in plaats van drie rijmodi op maat van individuele rijdersvoorkeuren. De rijmodi 'Rain' en 'Road' maken het mogelijk om de rijeigenschappen aan te passen aan de meeste wegomstandigheden. Met de ‘Eco’-rijmodus haalt men uit elke brandstoftank het maximale rijbereik, terwijl de bijkomende rijmodus ‘Enduro’ bijdraagt tot een betere rijervaring op het terrein met een specifieke afstelling voor terreingebruik.

Automated Shift Assistant (ASA) voor een volautomatische bediening van de koppeling met manuele of geautomatiseerde schakelovergangen om nog meer rijplezier te verzekeren, verkrijgbaar als optie af fabriek.

Met de nieuwe Automated Shift Assistant (ASA) biedt BMW Motorrad een innovatieve technische oplossing om motorrijden eenvoudiger en comfortabeler te maken. Conform het motto 'Simplify your ride' wordt de rijervaring verder verbeterd door de koppeling en de schakelovergangen te automatiseren, zonder daarbij te raken aan de emotioneel belangrijke dynamiek van het schakelen. De Automated Shift Assistant (ASA) zal ook als optie verkrijgbaar zijn op de BMW R 1300 GS (vanaf modeljaar 2025).

Full LED headlights in nieuw matrixdesign en standaard bijkomende koplampen. Hypergeavanceerde LED-lichtblokken rondom met in de handbeschermers geïntegreerde richtingaanwijzers.

BMW Motorrad wordt beschouwd als dé pionier op het vlak van motorveiligheid en aanverwante innovaties. De nieuwe R 1300 GS is dan ook standaard uitgerust met een nieuwe, erg compacte full-LED-koplamp met een nieuwe, opvallende lichtsignatuur. Het lichtblok bestaat uit twee LED-eenheden voor de dim- en grootlichten en vier extra LED-eenheden voor de dagrijlichten en zijlichten. De nieuwe R 1300 GS Adventure beschikt daarnaast over twee extra vlakke bijkomende koplampen met LED-technologie, die harmonieus en veilig werden geïntegreerd in het koetswerk. Die combinatie verlicht de weg met een nooit geziene helderheid en zorgt zo voor een nog betere perceptie in het verkeer. De hypergeavanceerde LED-lichtblokken met nieuw ontworpen LED-richtingaanwijzers – geïntegreerd in de handbeschermers vooraan, functioneel geïntegreerd achteraan – vervolledigen het verlichtingsconcept van de nieuwe R 1300 GS.

Riding Assistant Pack met Active Cruise Control (ACC),

Front Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Change Warning en de nieuwe

Rear End Collision Warning (RECW) om veilig en vlot te rijden verkrijgbaar als optie af fabriek.

De nieuwe R 1300 GS Adventure is al standaard uitgerust met Dynamic Cruise Control (DCC) met remfunctie. Het Riding Assistant Pack biedt echter nog veel meer functies aan als opties af fabriek. Het omvat de componenten Active Cruise Control (ACC), Front Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Change Warning en de nieuwe Rear End Collision Warning (RECW). Het nieuwe RECW-systeem (Rear End Collision Warning) waarschuwt achterliggers voor dreigende kop-staartbotsingen door de waarschuwingsknipperlichten met een hogere frequentie te laten knipperen. Het RECW-systeem (Rear End Collision Warning) zal vanaf modeljaar 2025 ook verkrijgbaar zijn op de BMW R 1300 GS, die vorig jaar werd voorgesteld.

Zijn eveneens als optie af fabriek verkrijgbaar: een nieuwe aluminium topkoffer en nieuwe aluminium koffers met geïntegreerde magnetische koppelingen die als elektrische interfaces fungeren voor USB-oplaadaansluitingen en verlichting, en een optionele volume-uitbreiding.

Een robuuste aluminium topkoffer van 37 liter en een topkofferhouder met trillingsontkoppelde topkofferplaat, elektrische interface voor verlichting, een USB-oplaadaansluiting en geïntegreerde handgrepen voor de passagier zijn als optionele accessoires verkrijgbaar voor de nieuwe R 1300 GS Adventure. Het laadvermogen bedraagt tot 8 kg.

De nieuwe aluminium koffers, elk met een laadvermogen tot 10 kg, zijn ook ideaal om bagage gemakkelijk en veilig te vervoeren. De totale inhoud bedraagt meer dan 73 liter (37 liter links, 36,5 liter rechts). Ze laten zich eenvoudig, snel en veilig bevestigen aan de innovatieve kofferhouders van gesmeed aluminium. De in de linker kofferhouder geïntegreerde magnetische koppeling fungeert als elektrische interface voor de USB-oplaadaansluiting in de linker koffer. De optionele volume-uitbreidingen van 10 liter per koffer verzekeren nog meer opbergruimte. Ze zijn gemaakt van hoogwaardig aluminium en snel en eenvoudig te monteren.

Aluminium brandstoftank van 30 liter met slimme bevestigingsmogelijkheden en met rubber afgewerkte opbergruimte. Doeltreffende bescherming tegen weer en wind met voorruit en handbeschermers met verlengstukken voor de handbeschermers.

De nieuwe R 1300 GS Adventure krijgt een volledig nieuw design dat hem nog meer onderscheidt van zijn zustermodel, de R 1300 GS. Een belangrijk onderdeel van het centrale koetswerkgedeelte van de nieuwe R 1300 GS Adventure is de brandstoftank van 30 liter in plaataluminium, die grotendeels onafgedekt is. Voor de ontwikkelingsingenieurs van BMW Motorrad was het uitermate belangrijk dat de grote tank ook zijn bijkomende functie van bagagedrager in de verf zou zetten. Daarom werden drie bevestigingselementen op het bovenste tankpaneel geschroefd om eenvoudig te tanken en snel toegang te krijgen tot het laadcompartiment voor smartphones. Deze slimme oplossing biedt individuele bevestigingsogen voor bagage en een scharnierende bevestiging met klikslot voor de 12 liter grote tanktas met waterdichte binnen- en buitentas, die als accessoire verkrijgbaar is.

De uitzonderlijke breedte van de tank creëert vertrouwen en biedt een doeltreffende frontale bescherming tegen slechte weersomstandigheden. De grote voorruit, in combinatie met de twee grote transparante windgeleiders, biedt ook een doeltreffende bescherming tegen weer en wind, wat bijdraagt tot een ongeëvenaard stil en comfortabel rijgedrag, zelfs tijdens lange ritten. De rubberen tankbakjes links en rechts van de bovenste tankafdekkingen zijn eveneens standaard. Ze bieden een slipvrije, veilige opslag voor gebruiksvoorwerpen tijdens stops.

De nieuwe R 1300 GS Adventure: het allerhoogste niveau van touring- en terreinexpertise in een aantrekkelijke basisvariant, aangevuld met de varianten Triple Black, GS Trophy en Option 719 Karakorum.

Zelfs in zijn basisversie laat de nieuwe R 1300 GS Adventure geen twijfel bestaan over zijn bedoelingen. Hij is afgewerkt in de niet-metaalkleur Racing Red en heeft een atletische, afgetrainde look die u uitnodigt om motoravonturen aan te vatten. De zilverkleurige tank, de zwarte en rode zittingen, het zwarte stuur, de zwarte velgen en de rode verlengstukken voor de handbeschermers bieden een opvallend contrast.

In de Triple Black-versie toont de nieuwe R 1300 GS Adventure zich van zijn meest elegante kant. Accenten in perfect op elkaar afgestemde zwarttinten en de aluminium brandstoftank afgewerkt in hoogwaardige Tinted Clear Coat kenmerken zijn uitzonderlijke karakter. Zwarte elementen zoals de standaard beschermstang voor de motor met zilverkleurige inzetstukken, het stuur en de velgen gaan hand in hand met grijze verlengstukken voor de handbescherming, grote aluminium radiatorlijsten en verwarmbare zittingen in Black/Grey voor het traditionele Triple Black-kleurenschema. Een bagagerek en een hoge voorruit met grote windgeleiders maken de Triple Black-look compleet.

Het GS Trophy-model onderscheidt zich door een sportief kleurenschema. De metaalkleur Racing Blue wordt aangevuld met opvallende strepen in de niet-metaalkleuren Light White en Racing Red. Gepoedercoate textuuronderdelen in de matte metaalkleur Avus Black creëren een opwindend contrast met de aluminium onderdelen. De rode en zwarte zittingen en de rode verlengstukken voor de handbeschermers worden gecombineerd met de roestvrijstalen beschermstang voor de motor en de zwarte velgen Cross-spoke om een aantrekkelijk kleurschema te creëren. Zwarte roosters voor de radiatoren en de koplampen bieden een doeltreffende bescherming tegen steenslag. De kleinere sportvoorruit en sporthandgrepen voor de passagier zetten het sportieve karakter van de GS Trophy nog meer in de verf. Ook bieden de grote radiatorlijsten met sjorogen en aluminium brandstoftankrekken robuuste bevestigingspunten.

De versie Option 719 Karakorum tooit de R 1300 GS Adventure in de exclusieve kleur Aurelius Green matt metallic. Goudkleurige lijnen en het gefreesde Shadow-onderdelenpakket maken de hoogwaardige look compleet, net als de 'Opt. 719'-badge op de tankafdekking. De geanodiseerde goudkleurige componenten zoals de velgen en het stuur springen extra in het oog. De standaard motorbeschermbeugel is zwart gelakt en de verlengstukken van de handbeschermers zijn uitgevoerd in het grijs. Naast de kleine aluminium radiatorlijsten en het beschermrooster op de bijkomende koplampen zijn er twee verwarmde comfortzittingen in Black/Grey, een bagagerek en een kleine sportvoorruit.

Superieure off-road en rij-expertise voor de BMW Motorrad International GS Trophy 2024 Namibia.

Munich. When a total of 22 national teams - including six women's and 16 men's teams - with a total of 60 riders compete for the coveted trophy at the BMW Motorrad International GS Trophy 2024 Namibia from 15 to 20 September 2024, they will be able to rely on a superior workhorse as they cross Namibia: the BMW R 1300 GS Trophy Competition Bike.

The R 1300 GS Trophy Competition Bike has been developed exclusively for this competition, which has been held on the basis of the R 1300 GS since 2008 and is equipped for all eventualities thanks to special accessories. The large GS with its powerful boxer engine is fitted with a handlebar riser, engine protection bar, underride and frame guard, adjustable gear and brake levers, GS Vario rider footrests, enduro hand levers, headlight protection guard and white handguard extensions. The coarse-tread off-road tyres on the black cross-spoke wheels and the single seat bench are designed to cope with the sometimes difficult terrain of the BMW Motorrad International GS Trophy 2024 Namibia in East Africa.

With the exception of a few details, the R 1300 GS Trophy Competition Bike can be configured on the basis of the R 1300 GS Trophy.
Although the BMW Motorrad Competition Bike is not available for sale in exactly this form, it is based on the R 1300 GS Trophy model variant, with the exception of a few details such as the stickers, the large underride guard and the gearshift lever. The basic Racing Blue metallic colour says it all: with its red and white stripes and lettering, combined with the matt white metallic painted rear frame, the R 1300 GS Trophy literally whets the appetite for sporty off-road riding - just as the 22 teams will experience on their R 1300 GS Trophy Competition Bikes in September.

In the spirit of high off-road expertise, the Trophy is equipped ex works with radiator guards to protect against damage, for example from stone chipping. The robust cross-spoke wheels are also part of the off-road equipment. They come with black rims as standard and are also available in gold as an ex-works option.

Solo, met passagier of met een overvloed aan bagage: de DSA garandeert een nog hoger niveau van rijveiligheid, prestaties en comfort.

Adaptieve hoogteregeling en sportophanging als fabrieksoptie verkrijgbaar.

In combinatie met het optionele, af fabriek geleverde DSA-systeem zijn er nog twee bijkomende opties beschikbaar voor de ophanging van de nieuwe R 1300 GS: de nieuwe adaptieve hoogteregeling en de sportophanging.

Met de adaptieve hoogteregeling biedt de nieuwe R 1300 GS een volautomatische aanpassing van de rijhoogte naargelang de bedrijfstoestand, waardoor hij het grootst mogelijke comfort garandeert zonder toegevingen te doen op het vlak van rijdynamiek en zijdelingse hellingsgraad.

Met 20 millimeter langere veerwegen voor- en achteraan en een optionele, stijf afgestelde sportophanging die speciaal voor de GS werd ontwikkeld, worden terreinrijders op hun wenken bediend.

Voortaan standaard vier rijmodi. ‘Enduro’-rijmodus voor een verbeterde terreinervaring.

Zelfs in de standaarduitvoering heeft de nieuwe R 1300 GS nu vier in plaats van drie rijmodi om zich aan te passen aan de individuele voorkeuren van de rijder. De rijmodi 'Rain' en 'Road' maken het mogelijk om de rijeigenschappen aan te passen aan de meeste wegomstandigheden. Met de ‘Eco’-rijmodus haalt men uit elke brandstoftank het maximale rijbereik, terwijl de bijkomende rijmodus ‘Enduro’ bijdraagt tot een betere rijervaring op het terrein met een specifieke afstelling voor terreingebruik.

Innovatief ontworpen Matrix LED-koplampen standaard, hypergeavanceerde led-lichtblokken met richtingaanwijzers in de handbeschermers en koplampen Pro als fabrieksoptie verkrijgbaar.

BMW Motorrad wordt beschouwd als dé pionier op het vlak van motorveiligheid en aanverwante innovaties. De nieuwe R 1300 GS is dan ook standaard uitgerust met nieuwe, erg compacte ‘full led’-koplampen met een nieuwe, opvallende lichtsignatuur. Zij verlichten de weg met een nooit geziene helderheid, waardoor ze een nog betere perceptie in het verkeer garanderen. Het lichtblok bestaat uit twee led-units voor de dim- en grootlichten en vier extra led-units voor de dagrijlichten en zijlichten. De hypergeavanceerde led-lichten met nieuw ontworpen led-richtingaanwijzers – geïntegreerd in de handbeschermers vooraan, functioneel geïntegreerd achteraan – vervolledigen het verlichtingsconcept van de nieuwe R 1300 GS. In bochten past de optie ‘Koplamp Pro’ de lichtbundel van de standaard ‘full led’-koplamp aan volgens de kantelhoek. Op die manier wordt de bocht zo goed als volledig verlicht omdat het licht beweegt naar waar de motor heen rijdt.

Riding Assistant met Active Cruise Control (ACC), Front Collision Warning (FCW) en Lane Change Warning (SWW) voor veilig en handig motorrijden.

De nieuwe BMW R 1300 GS beschikt over de nieuwe optie Riding Assistant, bestaande uit de onderdelen Active Cruise Control (ACC), Front Collision Warning (FCW) en Lane Change Warning (SWW). Active Cruise Control (ACC) met geïntegreerde afstandsbewaring kan worden gebruikt om de gewenste rijsnelheid en de afstand tot de voorligger in te stellen. Front Collision Warning (FCW) met reminterventie is bedoeld om botsingen te voorkomen en de ernst van ongevallen te verminderen, terwijl Lane Change Warning de rijstroken links en rechts van de motor controleert om rijstrookwissels veiliger te maken en tegelijk het gebruik van de achteruitkijkspiegel te ondersteunen.

De nieuwe R 1300 GS: het allerhoogste niveau van touring- en terreinexpertise in een aantrekkelijke basisvariant, aangevuld met de varianten Triple Black, GS Trophy en Option 719 Tramuntana.

De nieuwe R 1300 GS heeft een volledig nieuw design dat zich baseert op de traditionele GS-flyline en dat tegelijk de extreme compactheid en aanzienlijke gewichtsreductie weerspiegelt. Met zijn aanzienlijk vlakkere tankhelling is de flyline grotendeels verantwoordelijk voor het erg dynamische, lichte en toegankelijke uiterlijk van de nieuwe R 1300 GS. Door voort te lopen over het beklede middendeel van de afdekking op de aluminium brandstoftank, geeft de zitting de GS een typisch enduro-silhouet.

Met de nieuwe aluminium brandstoftank, die een veel vlakkere helling heeft dan bij de vorige modellen, is de flyline grotendeels verantwoordelijk voor het uiterst dynamische, lichte en toegankelijke uiterlijk van de nieuwe R 1300 GS. Dat maakte het ook mogelijk om een erg sportief en dynamisch accent toe te voegen door middel van de doorlopende textuur in de centrale afdekking van de brandstoftank.

De basisversie van de nieuwe BMW R 1300 GS belichaamt perfect wat het ontwikkelingsteam van BMW Motorrad voor ogen had toen het de GS-legende creëerde: een compacte opstelling van de onderdelen, een uiterst functionele uitrusting en essentie als hoofdkenmerk. Met zijn standaardkleur Lightwhite en zijn scherpe lijnenspel en erg zuivere look oogt de nieuwe R 1300 GS bijzonder gespierd en belichaamt hij het GS-thema van de boxer op de zuiverste manier.

TripleBlack is een modelvariant van de boxer GS, die al vele jaren populair is. In dit kleurschema heeft de nieuwe BMW R 1300 GS een mannelijke uitstraling, gecombineerd met een exclusieve oppervlakteafwerking.

De basisafwerking 'Racingblue metallic' zet de toon voor de modelvariant GS Trophy. Met rode en witte tapes en opschriften in combinatie met een achterframe met matwitte metaalkleur, staat de GS Trophy voor het allerhoogste niveau van prestaties en sportieve terreinritten.

Zijn meest exclusieve en technisch gesofistikeerde kant toont de nieuwe R 1300 GS in de modelvariant Option 719 Tramuntana. Deze versie combineert goudkleurige kruisspaakvelgen met een hoogwaardige lakafwerking in de metaalkleur Aurelius Green en verfijnde onderdelen in gefreesd aluminium.

De Dealer Clash, een wedstrijd waarin BMW Motorrad concessies de uitdaging kregen om een R nineT te personaliseren, kent een winnaar: de R nineT Pure “R90 Shades of Grey” ontworpen door Motorsport Mabbe uit Wielsbeke. Met de Dealer Clash speelt BMW Motorrad in op de razend populaire trend om motorfietsen te personaliseren.

Naast een ontwerp dat herinnert aan de glorietijd van het pure motorrijden en een state-of-the-art technologie, biedt de BMW R nineT ook een brede waaier aan personalisatiemogelijkheden dankzij een uitgebreid gamma aan accessoires en uitrusting. Dat maakt de motor tot een uiterst populaire machine in de bloeiende caféracer- en customwereld.

Ook BMW Motorrad Belux maakte gebruik van deze oneindige mogelijkheden om haar concessiehouders dit jaar opnieuw uit te dagen met een heuse ‘Dealer Clash’. De deelnemende concessiehouders moesten met een welbepaald vooropgesteld budget, een gepersonaliseerde, straatlegale R nineT ontwerpen.

Marc De Groof, Algemeen Directeur van BMW Motorrad Belux, licht de keuze toe: “Alle concessies hebben ontzettend mooi werk afgeleverd, deze bikes zijn een uithangbord van hun vakmanschap. Als winnaar wist de ‘R90 Shades of Grey’ de jury echter te overtuigen in elke categorie. Hopelijk mogen we deze customs nadien ook véél bewonderen in het straatbeeld. De slogan van BMW Motorrad is immers niet voor niets ‘Make Life A Ride’.”

Diverse jury.

Op 14 maart verzamelde een jury samengesteld uit vijf Belgen (Bruno Wouters – Moto80, Ilse De Vis – freelance presentatrice en motorliefhebber, Pieter Ryckaert – Motorrijder, Thierry Dricot – Carters & Pistons, Tom Van der Sande – Motoren & Toerisme) samen met Matthias Runde, Product Manager bij BMW Motorrad in Duitsland, in de BMW Brand Store op de Waterloolaan in Brussel. De jury gebruikte vijf criteria om te evalueren: design, originaliteit, vakmanschap, soul factor en “dare devil level”.

Matthias Runde (BMW Motorrad): “Ik ben heel trots op de verwezenlijkingen van de Belgische BMW Motorrad concessiehouders. Dit jaar moesten ze een straatlegale custom bouwen, en dan word je gedwongen om creatief te werk te gaan. Dat evenwicht tussen wat kan en mag komt fantastisch tot zijn recht in dit oeuvre. Ik zou met élk van deze pareltjes zo de baan op willen.”

BMW R nineT gamma.

Het BMW Heritage gamma bestaat momenteel uit vijf modellen: BMW R nineT, BMW R nineT Pure, BMW R nineT Scrambler, BMW R nineT Racer en de BMW R nineT Urban G/S.

Munich. Model year 2017 will see a number of model facelift measures. The models can be ordered from all BMW Motorrad dealers in the new configuration from August 2016.

Technical changes to the liquid-cooled boxer models.

When the new model year starts in August 2016, the engines of the liquid-cooled boxer models will be subject to supplementary technical changes as well as the application of EU4 measures and the addition of sidelights as required by law. 

Like the R 1200 GS Adventure, all liquid-cooled boxer models will now be fitted with a judder damper on the transmission output shaft. New features also include a revised selector drum actuator, transmission shafts and transmission shaft bearing. An OBD indicator lamp in the cockpit has been added to meet EU4 requirements.

BMW R 1200 GS.

In addition to the technical changes set out above, the instrument panel of the
R 1200 GS has now been given a revised design. The range of optional accessories includes a new crash bar that allows cylinder protection covers to be mounted - also available as optional accessories.

BMW R 1200 GS Adventure.

In addition to the technical changes described above, the instrument panel of the R 1200 GS Adventure features a revised design. As of model year 2017, the colour Ocean Blue metallic matt is no longer available for the R 1200 GS Adventure.

New BMW R 1200 GS Adventure “Triple Black” special model.

“Triple Black” – this special version of the BMW R 1200 GS has established its own tradition and the name once again says it all. BMW Motorrad is responding to a wish expressed by many customers by bringing out this impressive travel enduro in a virtually all-black finish.

The central fuel tank cover, storage compartment lid and front mudguard in Blackstorm metallic together with fuel tank side panels in Dark Slate metallic give the legendary travel enduro a strikingly masculine look. Powerful technical accentuations are provided by the front and rear frame in Agate Grey in combination with the black engine, gearbox and swinging arm.

A new black seat with striking GS embossment on the passenger section rounds off the striking appearance of the new R 1200 GS “Triple Black”.

The price of the new BMW R 1200 GS Adventure “Triple Black” in Belgium is EUR 17,300.- incl. 21% VAT and in Luxembourg 16,728.- incl. 17% VAT.

BMW R 1200 RT.

In addition to the technical changes set out above, the R 1200 RT will not only be supplied in new paint finishes as of model year 2017. With a view to enhanced motorcycling safety, its range of optional equipment features is extended to include the banking-optimised ABS Pro and the dynamic brake light (both in conjunction with the Riding Modes Pro option). Price and launch of the new BMW R nineT Scrambler.

BMW Motorrad announces the price of the new BMW R nineT Scrambler at the BMW Motorrad Days 2016. The second model of the BMW Motorrad “Heritage” world of experience will be available at the price of EUR 13,390.00 incl. 21% VAT in Belgium or EUR 12,947.36 incl. 17% VAT in Luxembourg.

The market launch of the new BMW R nineT Scrambler will be on 17.09.2016.
