De nieuwe BMW M2 met M xDrive.

Het M xDrive-vierwielaandrijvingssysteem is voor het eerst beschikbaar voor de compacte high-performance sportwagen BMW M2. Verbeterde tractie zorgt voor een nog snellere acceleratie in combinatie met een verder verbeterde wendbaarheid en richtingsstabiliteit. M-gevoel zonder concessies aan de prestaties – in elk seizoen en onder vrijwel alle wegomstandigheden. De innovatieve BMW M Ignite-motortechnologie vermindert het brandstofverbruik aanzienlijk bij hoge belasting. De marktintroductie van de BMW M2 met M xDrive gaat eind zomer 2026 van start.

Munich. With its combination of extremely agile handling, M-typical performance and compact dimensions, the BMW M2 embodies unadulterated driving pleasure in its ultimate expression. The new BMW M2 with M xDrive (fuel consumption, combined: 10.4 – 10.3 l/100 km [27.2 – 27.4 mpg imp]; CO₂ emissions, combined: 235 – 233 g/km according to WLTP, CO₂ class: G)* sees BMW M GmbH expanding the breadth of the M2 model line-up. Here, the all-wheel-drive system M xDrive will be available for the compact high-performance sports car for the first time. M xDrive splits the power developed by the 353 kW/480 hp six-cylinder in-line engine with BMW M TwinPower Turbo technology between the front and rear axles according to the situation at hand. Also in play is the Active M Differential, which distributes drive fully variably between the rear wheels as required, maximising traction and delivering the driving dynamics normally associated with a rear-wheel drive model.

These enhanced traction levels increase the car’s agility, dynamism and directional stability once again – and further improve its acceleration figures. The new BMW M2 with M xDrive therefore offers drivers the inimitable M feeling through all four seasons of the year, in almost any road conditions and in all weathers – without any trade-off in performance. The car showcases its optimised traction (which is also the product of specially developed chassis tuning) with sublime assurance in fluctuating grip conditions such as ice and snow as well as on the track. The market launch of the BMW M2 with M xDrive will begin in late summer 2026.

Superior traction and further enhanced dynamics thanks to M xDrive and Active M Differential.

The M xDrive all-wheel-drive system employs an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch in the transfer case to ensure fully variable and super-smooth division of the engine’s power between the front and rear wheels of the new BMW M2 with M xDrive. The system’s rear-wheel bias fits the familiar M blueprint. In normal driving, power is sent exclusively to the rear wheels. Only when they cannot feed any more power to the road does the all-wheel-drive system bring the front wheels into play.

M xDrive links up with the Active M Differential including M-specific traction control and DSC (Dynamic Stability Control). Together, they adapt the car’s responses precisely to the situation in order to deliver a driving experience of unsurpassed dynamism with a noticeable increase in directional stability and traction.

The transfer case features a model-specific control unit and integrated wheel slip limitation. This allows it to compensate for any differences in rotational speed between the front and rear wheels. It can do this without having to involve the central DSC management, which makes the process extremely quick and further intensifies the M-typical sense of unshakable poise in highly dynamic driving situations.

The M xDrive system’s responses can be configured via the M Setup menu. This means the driver can adapt the characteristics and performance attributes of the all-wheel drive system to both the driving situation at hand and their personal preferences. One of the options the driver can select is 2WD mode with DSC deactivated, whereby torque is sent to the rear wheels only. This unlocks a driving experience of remarkable purity.

A development with roots in racing car design: pre-chamber combustion.

The 3.0-litre straight-six engine powering the new BMW M2 with M xDrive uses BMW M Ignite technology – a new pre-chamber combustion process patented by BMW. This innovation is an example of the successful transfer of technology from racing cars to production models and will be introduced into all straight-six engines from BMW M as of mid-2026. The pre-chamber combustion process significantly reduces fuel consumption under high loads. At the same time, this new engine technology helps to meet the requirements of the EU7 standard. As before, the engine in the BMW M2 with M xDrive offers the performance characteristics for which M models are renowned, such as instantaneous response and linear power development into the higher reaches of the rev range. And this spirited power delivery is accompanied by an emotionally stirring soundtrack. The lower fuel consumption under high loads brought about by BMW M Ignite technology will be particularly appreciated by customers who like to use their car on track days, allowing them to keep lapping for longer with the same amount of fuel.

The BMW M2 with M xDrive is fitted as standard with an M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic, which ensures the engine’s power is harnessed to maximum dynamic effect. Standard-fit M light-alloy wheels (19-inch at the front axle, 20-inch at the rear) transfer the power onto the road surface. Track tyres can be specified as an option.

Optimum stopping power on road and track is provided by M Compound brakes with six-piston fixed callipers at the front and single-piston callipers at the rear.

The combination of the M xDrive all-wheel-drive system and Active M Differential gives the new BMW M2 with M xDrive further improved sprinting power. Indeed, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.7 seconds, 0.3 seconds faster than its sister model with pure rear-wheel drive. The figure recorded using the “one-foot rollout” method¹ is 3.4 seconds. The BMW M2 with M xDrive reaches the 200 km/h (124 mph) mark from rest in 12.8 seconds – or 12.5 seconds with the “one-foot rollout” method. The sprint from 80 to 120 km/h (50 to 75 mph) is covered in 3.7 seconds. The M2 with M xDrive has a limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph), rising to 285 km/h (177 mph) if the optional M Driver’s Package is specified.

BMW Individual Borusan Turkish Blue is available for a BMW M2 model for the first time.

The selection of exterior colours customers can choose from includes five metallic and three solid variants, plus six options from the BMW Individual range. For example, the BMW Individual Borusan Turkish Blue special paint finish will be available for a M2 for the first time, accentuating the visually expressive exterior design of the BMW M2 with M xDrive to particularly striking effect.

The BMW M2: a successful model, built in Mexico.

The BMW M2 Coupé (fuel consumption, combined: 10.2 – 9.7 l/100 km [27.7 – 29.1 mpg imp], CO₂ emissions, combined: 230 – 221 g/km according to WLTP, CO₂ class: G)* was the biggest-selling high-performance model from BMW M GmbH in 2025. The new BMW M2 with M xDrive – like the other M2 models – will be built at BMW Group Plant San Luis Potosí in Mexico. Production will begin in August 2026. The most important sales markets for the BMW M2 with M xDrive are the USA, Germany and China.

De nieuwe BMW M2 CS.

De nieuwe versie van deze speciale reeks biedt het ultieme rijplezier, zowel op het circuit als bij dagelijks gebruik. Net als de BMW M2 Racing, die op het chassis van de jongste M2-generatie staat, wordt de BMW M2 CS geproduceerd in de fabriek van de BMW Group van San Luis Potosí in Mexico. En net als andere speciale reeksen van BMW M GmbH wordt de BMW M2 CS in beperkte oplage gebouwd. De belangrijkste afzetmarkten zijn de VS, Duitsland en China en de marktintroductie begint in de nazomer van 2025. De BMW M2 CS kost € 115.000 in Duitsland.

De nieuwe BMW M2 CS werd afgeleid van de tweede BMW M2-generatie (gecombineerd brandstofverbruik: 9,8 l/100 km; gecombineerde CO₂-uitstoot: 223 g/km volgens de WLTP-cyclus, CO₂-klasse: G) en tilt de al buitengewone prestaties naar een hoger niveau. Zo ontwikkelt de hoogtoerige zescilinder-in-lijn met M TwinPower Turbo-technologie in de BMW M2 CS een indrukwekkend vermogen van 390 kW/530 pk. Dat is 37 kW/50 pk meer dan in de huidige BMW M2. Daarmee evenaart de BMW M2 CS de prestaties van de BMW M3 Competition Berline met M xDrive (gecombineerd brandstofverbruik: 10,2 l/100 km; gecombineerde CO₂-uitstoot: 230 g/km volgens de WLTP-cyclus, CO₂-klasse: G), alsook de BMW M4 Competition Coupé met M xDrive (gecombineerd brandstofverbruik: 10,1 l/100 km; gecombineerde CO₂-uitstoot: 229 g/km volgens de WLTP-cyclus, CO₂-klasse: G). De BMW M2 CS stuurt zijn vermogen naar de achterwielen via de standaard achttraps M versnellingsbak Steptronic met Drivelogic.

Merkbaar lager gewicht dankzij het intelligente lichtgewicht design

BMW M GmbH heeft het gewicht van de speciale reeks met ongeveer 30 kilogram verlaagd ten opzichte van de standaard M2. Dat werd gerealiseerd door aanpassingen zoals het gebruik van lichtgewicht designtechnieken. Zo bevat de BMW M2 CS een groot aantal koetswerk- en interieuronderdelen van met koolstofvezels versterkte kunststof (CFRP) en is hij standaard uitgerust met gesmede M lichtmetalen velgen. Daardoor wordt de CS de lichtste BMW M2 tot nu toe van de huidige generatie.

Opgewaardeerde zescilinder-in-lijn motor met gevoelig meer vermogen en koppel

Voor de BMW M2 CS heeft BMW M GmbH geopteerd voor een opgewaardeerde versie van de 3,0-liter zescilinder-in-lijn motor uit de standaard M2. Die versterkt de prestatiebeleving in de speciale reeks, met name in erg dynamische rijsituaties. Hij scherpt de onmiskenbare vermogenskarakteristieken van de motor verder aan en accentueert perfect de lineaire vermogensafgifte die we gewend zijn van de M modellen en die tot in de hogere regionen van het toerentalbereik aanhoudt. In vergelijking met de BMW M2 met standaard achttraps M versnellingsbak Steptronic met Drivelogic steeg het maximumkoppel met 50 Nm tot 650 Nm en staat het over een breder toerentalbereik (2.650 tot 5.730 t/min) ter beschikking. De motor levert zijn maximumvermogen van 390 kW/530 pk bij 6.250 t/min en haalt een maximaal toerental van 7.200 t/min. Om extreem snelle reacties op de vermogensvraag van de bestuurder te verzekeren en om de verbeterde prestatiekenmerken van de motor tot een bijzonder intense ervaring te maken, werden de mapping en respons van het gaspedaal geoptimaliseerd voor alle rijmodi, die via het M Setup-menu kunnen worden geselecteerd.

Race-expertise voor inspirerende prestaties

Met zijn verbeterde topprestaties bevestigt de nieuwe BMW M2 CS zijn aanspraak op de toppositie in het segment van de ultraperformante compacte wagens. Deze prestatiespecificaties werden bereikt door de motorsturing aan te passen en bewijzen eens te meer het uitstekende potentieel van de zescilinder-in-lijn motor ontwikkeld door BMW M GmbH, die ook als basis dient voor de krachtbron in de racewagen BMW M4 GT3 EVO. De M TwinPower Turbo-technologie van de motor bestaat uit twee MonoScroll-turbocompressoren die elk drie cilinders van gecomprimeerde lucht voorzien, een indirecte intercooler die wordt gevoed door een circuit met lage temperatuur, en een elektronisch gestuurde wastegate. Het technologiepakket omvat ook High Precision Injection, die werkt met een maximumdruk van 350 bar, de variabele kleppensturing VALVETRONIC en de volledig variabele nokkenassturing dubbele VANOS. Ook ontleende de motor rechtstreeks diverse details aan racewagens, waaronder zijn bliksemsnelle respons, zijn honger naar hoge toeren en zijn uitzonderlijke circuitkwaliteiten. Voorbeelden van die details zijn onder meer de uiterst stevige krukkast met een ‘closed-deck’-constructie zonder behuizing, de gesmede krukas met lichtgewicht design, de cilinderboringen met een ijzercoating aangebracht met een draadboog en de 3D-geprinte kern voor de cilinderkop.

Het M specifieke koelsysteem zorgt ervoor dat de motorcomponenten zelfs bij zware belasting een optimale bedrijfstemperatuur behouden en het oliecircuit is ontworpen om extreme, dynamische rijsituaties aan te kunnen. De kenveld gestuurde oliepomp garandeert een betrouwbare olietoevoer, zelfs bij extreme acceleraties.

De motor geeft zijn aandrijfkracht door via de standaard achttraps M versnellingsbak Steptronic met Drivelogic. De in de keuzehendel geïntegreerde Drivelogic-toets maakt het mogelijk om de schakeleigenschappen van de versnellingsbak te wijzigen, met keuze uit drie duidelijk verschillende standen. Zowel de keuzehendel in het nieuwste M design als de schakelpaddles op het stuur maken het mogelijk om op elk moment in te grijpen in het schakelproces.

De BMW M2 CS doorbreekt de viersecondegrens

De modelspecifieke motorophanging met hogere veerconstante zorgt voor een uiterst sterke verbinding van het aandrijfgeheel met de structuur van de BMW M2 CS. De extreem directe krachtoverbrenging naar de aandrijflijn optimaliseert de respons. Dankzij de razendsnelle vermogensafgifte, het toegenomen motorvermogen en het lagere gewicht van de wagen is de BMW M2 CS in staat om de viersecondegrens voor de sprint van 0 naar 100 km/u te doorbreken. Met een tijd van 3,8 seconden is hij 0,2 seconden sneller dan de standaard M2. Met de ‘1 foot rollout’-methode** bedraagt dit cijfer 3,5 seconden. De vermogenstoename komt ook de sprint van 0 naar 200 km/u ten goede. Bij deze oefening wordt de benodigde tijd met 1,2 seconden gereduceerd tot 11,7 seconden – of 11,4 seconden met de ‘1 foot rollout’-methode**. De herneming van 80 naar 120 km/u duurt 3,4 seconden. De topsnelheid van deze speciale reeks – die standaard wordt geleverd met het M Driver’s Package – is elektronisch begrensd tot 302 km/u. De dynamische vermogensontplooiing wordt ondersteund door een emotioneel rijke motorklank die wordt opgeroepen door het M specifieke uitlaatsysteem met elektrisch gestuurde kleppen en de vier typische uitlaatpijpen van BMW M, die bij de M2 CS in matzwart zijn uitgevoerd. Voor wie zijn wagen wil retrofitten, is het speciaal voor CS-modellen ontwikkelde M Performance-dempersysteem met sierstukken in carbon en titanium voor het eerst beschikbaar in het assortiment M Performance Parts voor de BMW M2 CS. Het lichtgewicht kleppensysteem met titanium dempers in de uitlaat genereert een racewagengeluid dat gegarandeerd emoties losmaakt. Het Active Sound Design helpt de soundtrack van de motor bovendien authentiek over te brengen in het interieur. En wanneer de SPORT- of SPORT PLUS-modus wordt geselecteerd met de Driving Experience Control-schakelaar, wordt de intensiteit nog verder verhoogd.

Ophanging en remmen geoptimaliseerd voor betere prestaties

De ophangingstechnologie en het remsysteem van de BMW M2 CS werden nauwkeurig afgestemd op de verbeterde prestatiekenmerken van de motor en de specifieke gewichtsbalans van de speciale reeks. Het chassis werd acht millimeter verlaagd en speciaal voor de wagen aangepast met afstellingen op maat voor de veren, schokdempers en chassisregelsystemen. Deze aanpassingen komen de rijdynamiek sterk ten goede in alle scenario’s, ook bij extreem gebruik. De instellingen voor Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) en de M Dynamic Mode zijn namelijk precies geoptimaliseerd om te voldoen aan de eisen van circuitritten. De standaard adaptieve M sportophaning kreeg een zorgvuldig aangepaste, modelspecifieke afstelling, net als de M Servotronic-stuurinrichting, het M sportdifferentieel en het geïntegreerde remsysteem. Het standaard M Compound-remsysteem met rode remklauwen staat garant voor krachtige vertragingen. Een M Carbon keramisch remsysteem met rode remklauwen is als optie verkrijgbaar. Tot de standaarduitrusting behoren ook CS-specifieke gesmede M lichtmetalen velgen, dubbelspaak met matte Gold Bronze-afwerking. Ze hebben een diameter van 19" vooraan en 20" achteraan en zijn standaard geschoeid met Track-banden in de maten 275/35 ZR19 vooraan en 285/30 ZR20 achteraan. Een Ultra Track-band en een standaard sportband (gratis optie) in dezelfde afmetingen zijn op aanvraag verkrijgbaar.

Exterieur met veel carbononderdelen en exclusieve details

Het energieke exterieur van de BMW M2 CS onderscheidt zich door de vele CFRP-componenten (met koolstofvezels versterkt kunststof) en andere exclusieve details. Naast de M buitenspiegelbehuizingen die we al kennen van de BMW M2, zijn ook het M Carbon-dak – standaard op de speciale reeks – en de CS-specifieke achterdiffusor gemaakt van opvallend zichtbaar carbon. Een matzwarte frontsplitter en exclusieve, zwarte BMW M nieren met geoptimaliseerde luchtinlaten vervolledigen de sportieve en dynamische look. Het lichtgewicht CFRP-kofferdeksel met geïntegreerde ducktail is een echte blikvanger en het ‘M2 CS’-logo op de achterkant kreeg een rode omlijning. Voor het koetswerk van de nieuwe BMW M2 CS zijn vier kleuren beschikbaar: Saphirschwarz metallic, BMW Individual Velvetblau metallic, M Brooklyn Grau metallic en M Portimao Blau metallic. Ook de Adaptive LED Headlights met niet-verblindende High Beam Assist BMW Selective Beam zijn standaard, net als de M lights Shadow Line met donkere inleg.

Carbon en raceflair gaan verder binnenin

Het interieur van de nieuwe BMW M2 CS combineert een exclusieve look met het sportieve gevoel van exquis Alcantara en een innovatief lichtgewicht design. Zo is de middenconsole gemaakt van met koolstofvezels versterkte kunststof (CFRP). De bestuurder en passagier nemen plaats in verwarmde M Carbon-kuipzetels met geoptimaliseerd gewicht, een groot aantal elektrische verstelmogelijkheden en een verlicht ‘CS’-logo. De geïntegreerde hoofdsteunen zijn afneembaar en de optie om meerpuntsgordels te integreren verbetert de circuitcapaciteiten van de wagen. De oppervlakken van de zetels zijn afgewerkt met leder Merino.

Het standaard M Alcantarastuur met drie spaken, afgeplatte onderkant, schakelpaddles, een rode middelpuntmarkering op 12 uur en twee M toetsen om individueel geconfigureerde voertuiginstellingen te selecteren, brengt authentieke raceflair naar de cockpit en is als optie verkrijgbaar in een verwarmde versie. De decoratieve lijsten in het instrumentenbord en de middenconsole zijn uitgevoerd in M Carbon Fibre. Andere specifieke details zijn het rode ‘CS’-logo op de middenconsole, de M veiligheidsgordels en de deurdrempels, die voor het eerst zwart zijn met een ‘M2 CS’-logo en rode omlijning. De deurpanelen, nu verlicht door het ‘CS’-logo, trekken zeker de aandacht. De kleur die hier wordt gebruikt kan individueel worden ingesteld, net als de kleur van de standaard sfeerverlichting. In uitgeschakelde toestand is een carbonstructuur zichtbaar. Het sportieve interieur wordt aangevuld met de M hemelbekleding in Antraciet.

BMW Operating System 8.5, digitale bediening van de klimaatfuncties

Tot de standaarduitrusting van de nieuwe BMW M2 CS behoren ook de automatische airconditioning met twee zones, de comforttoegang, het Harman Kardon Surround Sound System en de BMW Live Cockpit Navigation Professional, inclusief het navigatiesysteem BMW Maps. Die cockpit omvat behalve het BMW Head-Up Display ook de functie Augmented View op het Control Display. De standaard geleverde smartphone-integratie maakt het gebruik van Apple CarPlay® en Android Auto™ mogelijk. De M specifieke weergaven in het BMW Curved Display en het BMW Head-Up Display dragen bij aan de vooruitstrevende sportwagenuitstraling van de cockpit. Het volledig digitale weergavesysteem bestaat uit een Info Display van 12,3" en een Control Display van 14,9". Die dienen als platform voor het BMW iDrive-bedieningssysteem, dat steunt op het BMW Operating System 8.5 en ook kan worden gebruikt voor de digitale bediening van de klimaatregeling. In de BMW M2 CS laten de temperatuur- en ventilatie-instellingen, de zetelverwarming en (indien besteld) de stuurverwarming zich bedienen met een speciale menuoptie onderaan het Control Display of met gesproken commando’s met de hulp van de BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant.

M specifiek bedieningsconcept voor directe toegang tot een uitgebreide reeks functies

De speciale reeks neemt het geavanceerde bedieningsconcept van de BMW M2 over om de afstelling van de wagen te personaliseren. De kern daarvan is de Setup-knop op de middenconsole. Die biedt rechtstreeks toegang tot de instelmogelijkheden voor de motor, de standaard adaptieve M sportophanging, de M Servotronic-stuurinrichting, het geïntegreerde remsysteem met M Compound-remmen en de M Traction Control-functie, waarmee bestuurders individuele interventiedrempels voor slippende wielen kunnen instellen. M Drive Professional is de ideale metgezel voor reizen aangedreven door extra adrenaline. De M Mode TRACK en de tientraps M Traction Control maken aangepaste rijeigenschappen mogelijk. De M Drift Analyser toont van zijn kant de hoek en duur van drifts die door de bestuurder zijn uitgevoerd, terwijl de M Laptimer ideaal is voor wie streeft naar de perfecte ronde.

Semiautomatische rij- en parkeersystemen die standaard worden aangeboden zijn onder meer de botswaarschuwing vooraan, Cruise Control met remfunctie, de functie Speed Limit Info met No Passing Info, Lane Departure Warning en het Parking Assistant Pack met Reversing Assistant. De Active Cruise Control met Stop&Go functie en het Driving Assistant Pack kunnen als optionele uitrusting worden toegevoegd.

Als een toonbeeld van rijplezier voor de purist legt de nieuwe BMW M2 (gecombineerd brandstofverbruik: 9,8 – 9,6 l/100 km, gecombineerde CO₂-uitstoot: 223 – 218 g/km over de WLTP-cyclus, CO₂-klasse: G) de lat voor uiterst performante compacte premium sportwagens nog hoger. Hij tilt de prestatie-ervaring in deze voertuigklasse zelfs naar een heel nieuw niveau. De nieuwe BMW M2 onderscheidt zich door nog meer vermogen, een krachtigere visuele uitstraling dan ooit tevoren en innovatieve uitrustingskenmerken. De grootste wijziging bij deze nieuwe updateronde is het 15 kW/20 pk hogere vermogen van de wagen: de hoogtoerige zescilinder-in-lijn benzinemotor met M TwinPower Turbo-technologie is voortaan verkrijgbaar met 353 kW/480 pk. Daarnaast introduceert hij nieuwe designaccenten voor het exterieur, een gemoderniseerd interieur en het BMW Operating System 8.5, dat als basis dient voor de nieuwste generatie van BMW iDrive.

Het pakket updates voor de prestigieuze compacte sportwagen maakt het instapmodel in de wereld van uiterst performante BMW M modellen nog aantrekkelijker. De nieuwe BMW M2 tilt zijn aandrijfconcept van een zescilinder-in-lijnmotor, een handgeschakelde zesversnellingsbak (optie) en klassieke achterwielaandrijving naar een nieuwe evolutionaire fase. Bovendien kent dit aanbod zijn gelijke niet in deze klasse. In combinatie met zijn compacte afmetingen, zijn chassistechnologie die perfect is afgestemd op zowel dagelijks weggebruik als circuituitstapjes, en zijn hypergeavanceerde bedieningsconcept om de afstelling van de wagen te personaliseren, is de nieuwe M2 perfect gewapend om het volgende hoofdstuk te schrijven in de succesgeschiedenis van BMW M in dit segment.

De nieuwe BMW M2 zal samen met de nieuwe BMW 2 Reeks Coupé worden gebouwd in de fabriek van de BMW Group in San Luis Potosí (Mexico). Hij zal wereldwijd worden gelanceerd en gaat in augustus 2024 in productie. Meer dan 40 procent van de totale omzet zal in Europa worden geboekt. De belangrijkste afzonderlijke markt zal de VS zijn, gevolgd door Duitsland, China, Groot-Brittannië en Japan.

Zescilinder-in-lijnmotor met extra vermogen en koppel.

Naast het ruwe vermogen zelf speelt ook de onnavolgbare manier waarop de zescilinder-in-lijn dat vermogen levert een belangrijke rol in de prestatie-ervaring van de nieuwe BMW M2. De opgewaardeerde motor voor de nieuwe editie van de uiterst performante sportwagen zet de lineaire vermogensontplooiing tot in de hogere regionen van de toerenteller nog levendiger in de verf, een typisch kenmerk van de M modellen. Het maximumkoppel is beschikbaar over een breed toerentalbereik van 2.650 tot 6.130 t/min. Bij de nieuwe BMW M2 met de optionele handgeschakelde zesversnellingsbak (gecombineerd brandstofverbruik: 10,2 – 10,0 l/100 km, gecombineerde CO₂-uitstoot: 231 – 226 g/km over de WLTP-cyclus, CO₂-klasse: G) bedraagt het maximumkoppel nog steeds 550 Nm. Wanneer het vermogen wordt doorgegeven via de standaard achttraps M versnellingsbak Steptronic met Drivelogic, stijgt het koppel tot 600 Nm. De motor levert een hoger maximumvermogen van 353 kW/480 pk bij 6.250 t/min en haalt een maximaal toerental van 7.200 t/min.

Om de verbeterde prestatiekenmerken van de motor nog intensiever te benutten, werd nog vooruitgang geboekt met de afstelling van het gaspedaal en de respons in alle rijmodi die via het M Setup-menu kunnen worden ingeschakeld. Daardoor reageert de nieuwe BMW M2 merkbaar sneller op acceleratieverzoeken van de bestuurder – zowel bij de achttraps M versnellingsbak Steptronic als bij de optionele handgeschakelde zesversnellingsbak.

Het vermogen van de nieuwe BMW M2 om de vermogensontplooiing nog verder te verbeteren is geworteld in zijn uitzonderlijk sterke technologische basis. Zijn 3,0-litermotor verschilt slechts in enkele details van de motor in de BMW M3/BMW M4. Het hogere maximumvermogen van de nieuwe BMW M2 geeft zijn leiderschapsclaims in het segment van de compacte, uiterst performante wagens nog meer gewicht. Bovendien houdt hij nu gelijke tred met de manuele versies van de nieuwe BMW M3 Berline (gecombineerd brandstofverbruik: 10,1 – 10,0 l/100 km, gecombineerde CO₂-uitstoot: 230 – 227 g/km over de WLTP-cyclus, CO₂-klasse: G) en de nieuwe BMW M4 Coupé (gecombineerd brandstofverbruik: 10,1 – 10,0 l/100 km; gecombineerde CO₂-uitstoot: 230 – 226 g/km over de WLTP-cyclus, CO₂-klasse: G).

Race-expertise verzekert prestaties die een glimlach op het gezicht toveren.

De M TwinPower Turbo-technologie van de zescilinder-in-lijn omvat naast de MonoScroll-turbocompressoren, de indirecte intercooler en de elektronisch gestuurde wastegate ook de High Precision Injection, de variabele kleppentiming VALVETRONIC en de volledig variabele nokkenastiming dubbele VANOS. Ook ontleende de motor diverse details rechtstreeks aan het racewagendesign, met een impact die het duidelijkst tot uiting komt in zijn bliksemsnelle respons, zijn honger naar hoge toeren en zijn uitzonderlijke circuitkwaliteiten. Voorbeelden van die details zijn onder meer de uiterst stijve krukkast met een ‘closed-deck’-constructie zonder behuizing, de gesmede krukas met lichtgewicht design, de cilinderboringen met een ijzercoating aangebracht met een draadboog en de 3D-geprinte kern voor de cilinderkop.

Het M specifieke koelsysteem zorgt ervoor dat de motorcomponenten zelfs bij zware belasting een optimale bedrijfstemperatuur behouden. Ook het oliecircuit is ontworpen om uiterst dynamische rijsituaties het hoofd te bieden. De kenveldgestuurde oliepomp garandeert een betrouwbare olietoevoer, zelfs bij extreme overlangse en laterale acceleraties.

Bestuurders die een intens meeslepende prestatie-ervaring willen combineren met een nog directere interactie met de motor, kunnen de optionele handgeschakelde zesversnellingsbak bestellen. Die werkt samen met de Gear Shift Assistant, die de inschakelsnelheid regelt om een slipvrije werking te verzekeren bij het terugschakelen tijdens het remmen voor bochten.

Welke overbrenging de klant ook kiest voor zijn BMW M2, het hogere motorvermogen schaaft steeds 0,1 seconde van zijn acceleratietijd van 0 tot 100 km/u af: de nieuwe BMW M2 werkt de sprint af in 4,0 seconden met de standaardtransmissie of 4,2 seconden met de optionele handgeschakelde zesversnellingsbak. Het toegenomen vermogen laat zich ook voelen bij de sprint van 0 tot 200 km/u, goed voor een winst van 0,6 seconden. Dat brengt de acceleratietijd terug tot 12,9 seconden voor de BMW M2 met achttraps M versnellingsbak Steptronic en tot 13,7 seconden voor wagens met de optionele handgeschakelde versnellingsbak. De topsnelheid bedraagt 250 km/u, maar kan worden verhoogd tot 285 km/u met het optionele M Driver’s Package. De dynamische vermogensontplooiing wordt ondersteund door een emotioneel rijke motorklank die wordt opgeroepen door het M specifieke uitlaatsysteem met elektrisch gestuurde kleppen.

Indrukwekkend koetswerkdesign met frisse accenten.

Krachtige gebeitelde oppervlakken en atletische proporties benadrukken het pure prestatiegerichte karakter van de nieuwe BMW M2, waarvan de compacte afmetingen en brede sporen hem een visueel indrukwekkend effect geven.

M specifieke designkenmerken afgestemd op de functionele vereisten van de koelluchtgeleiding en de aerodynamische balans accentueren de opvallende look van de tweedeurscoupé. De grote, horizontale BMW nieren en de driedelige onderste luchtinlaat optimaliseren de koeling van de aandrijfonderdelen en de remmen.

De modelspecifieke LED Headlights werden op de buitenste hoeken van de neus geplaatst. Als eerbetoon aan de iconische BMW 02 hebben ze elk één ronde koplamp die zowel de dimlichtfunctie als de grootlichtfunctie verzekert. De U-vormige lichtgeleiders onderaan de koplampen dienen als dagrijlichten en richtingaanwijzers. Als optie zijn ook Adaptive LED Headlights met de niet-verblindende High Beam Assist BMW Selective Beam verkrijgbaar, evenals M lights Shadow Line met donkere inleg.

In profiel meet het uiterst performante model zich de elegante lijnen aan die zijn uitgegroeid tot een typisch kenmerk van de coupés van het merk. In combinatie met zijn prominente zijdelingse drempelverbreders en gespierde wielkasten creëert dit een compacte tweedeursvorm en een uitgesproken sportief karakter. De nieuwe BMW M2 kan als optie worden besteld met een M Carbondak dat niet alleen het gewicht van de wagen met ongeveer zes kilogram verlaagt, maar ook de wendbaarheid ten goede komt door het zwaartepunt te verlagen.

De achterschort van de nieuwe BMW M2 is voorzien van een krachtig vormgegeven diffusor in racewagenstijl. Het uitlaatsysteem loopt uit in twee dubbele uitlaatpijpen, die zich op een grote afstand van de randen van de achterzijde bevinden en die de racegenen van de M2 visueel kanaliseren. De dubbele uitlaatpijpen zijn voortaan standaard afgewerkt in het zwart. Het eveneens zwarte modelopschrift op het kofferdeksel en het radiatorrooster creëert een bijzonder stijlvolle indruk met zijn zilverkleurige rand.

Sterk uitgebreid gamma koetswerkkleuren, lichtmetalen velgen met een nieuw design.

Klanten kunnen hun nieuwe BMW M2 bestellen in drie effen kleuren, vijf metaalkleuren en zes BMW Individual-kleuren. Het sterk uitgebreide gamma omvat de nieuwe effen kleur Sao Paulo Gelb en de nieuwe metaalkleuren Fire Rot, Portimao Blau en Skyscraper Grau. Bovendien omvat het gamma BMW Individual-kleuren voor de nieuwe BMW M2 ook de tinten Java Green, Voodoo Blue, Grigio Telesto en Twilight Purple.

De nieuwe BMW M2 wordt standaard geschoeid met BMW M lichtmetalen velgen in dubbelspaakdesign en met Jet Black-afwerking. Deze velgen hebben een diameter van 19" op de vooras en 20" op de achteras. Nieuw in de optielijst zijn BMW M lichtmetalen velgen in dubbelspaakdesign en met dezelfde afmetingen, maar afgewerkt in de kleur Silver. Als het optionele M Race Track-pakket wordt besteld, kunnen ze worden uitgerust met trackbanden.

Nieuwe stuurwielen en zetelbekledingen, M Carbon-kuipzetels nu ook als individuele optie verkrijgbaar.

De belangrijkste interface tussen bestuurder en wagen – het stuur – werd nieuw ontworpen om het interieur van het uiterst performante compacte model een frisse look te geven. Het standaard gemonteerde lederen M stuur van de nieuwe BMW M2 heeft nu een vlakke rand en precies aangepaste spaken. De rode centrummarkering op 12 uur, de schakelpaddles en de twee M toetsen om gepersonaliseerde voertuigconfiguraties te selecteren, creëren een intens racegevoel. Een M Alcantara-stuur is nu ook als optie verkrijgbaar in hetzelfde design. Beide stuurversies kunnen als optie worden uitgerust met een verwarmingsfunctie.

De optionele M sportzetels in leder Vernasca kunnen van hun kant in een tweekleurige uitvoering (rood/zwart) worden besteld. Daarnaast zijn de lichtgewicht M Carbon-kuipzetels voor de nieuwe BMW M2 niet alleen beschikbaar in combinatie met het M Race Track-pakket, maar ook als individuele optie. Met oppervlakken in leder Merino, veelvuldige elektrische verstelling, verwijderbare hoofdsteunen en de mogelijkheid om een meerpuntsharnas toe te voegen, optimaliseren ze zowel het comfortniveau als de racekenmerken van de wagen.

BMW Operating System 8.5, digitale bediening van de klimaatfuncties.

De M specifieke content in het BMW Curved Display en het optionele Head-Up Display versterkt de vooruitstrevende sportwagenuitstraling van de cockpit. De volledig digitale schermcombinatie, bestaande uit een 12,3" Info Display en een 14,9" Control Display, vormt nu de basis voor de jongste evolutie van het BMW iDrive-bedieningssysteem op basis van het BMW Operating System 8.5. De functies van de klimaatregeling worden nu ook digitaal bediend. De temperatuur- en ventilatie-instellingen, de zetelverwarming en – indien besteld – de stuurverwarming laten zich in de nieuwe BMW M2 bedienen met een speciale menuoptie onderaan het Control Display of met gesproken commando’s met de hulp van de BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant.

Deze doorgedreven digitalisering dringt het aantal fysieke knoppen en bedieningselementen in de cockpit verder terug en gaat in hand met een hertekening van het instrumentenbord. Met nieuwe regelknoppen voor de ventilatieroosters in het midden van het instrumentenbord en aan de bestuurders- en passagierszijde van de cockpit kan de luchtstroomrichting worden aangepast met roterende en kantelende bewegingen.

De interieurelementen in het instrumentenbord en de middenconsole van de nieuwe BMW M2 zijn standaard uitgevoerd in Dark Graphite matt. Decoratieve lijsten in Aluminium Rhombicle Anthrazit, M Carbon Fibre of het nieuwe Aluminium Feinschliff zijn als optie verkrijgbaar.

M specifiek bedieningsconcept, uitgebreide standaarduitrusting.

Centraal in het M specifieke bedieningsconcept staat de Setup-toets op de middenconsole. Die biedt rechtstreeks toegang tot de instelmogelijkheden voor de motor, de standaard adaptieve M sportophanging, de M Servotronic-stuurinrichting, het geïntegreerde remsysteem met M Compound-remmen en de M Traction Control-functie, waarmee bestuurders individuele interventiedrempels voor slippende wielen kunnen instellen. De Gear Shift Assistant van de optionele handgeschakelde versnellingsbak laat zich ook in- en uitschakelen via het M Setup-menu.

De standaarduitrusting van de nieuwe BMW M2 omvat ook een automatische airconditioning, sfeerverlichting, een HiFi-luidsprekersysteem, een draadloos laadoppervlak en de BMW Live Cockpit Navigation Plus met navigatiesysteem BMW Maps. De eveneens standaard geleverde smartphone-integratie maakt het gebruik van Apple CarPlay® en Android Auto™ mogelijk. Semiautomatische rij- en parkeersystemen die standaard worden aangeboden zijn onder meer de botswaarschuwing vooraan, Cruise Control met remfunctie, de functie Speed Limit Info met No Passing Info, Lane Departure Warning en Park Distance Control met sensoren voor- en achteraan en het Parking Assistant Pack met Reversing Assistant. Tot de optionele voorzieningen behoren onder meer het Driving Assistant Pack en de Active Cruise Control met Stop&Go functie.

Ook de comforttoegang, het elektrisch bediende schuif- en kanteldak en het Harman Kardon Surround Sound System staan op de optielijst. Naast het Head-Up Display omvat de als optie verkrijgbare BMW Live Cockpit Navigation Professional in de nieuwe BMW M2 nu ook Augmented View op het Control Display.

Munich. At the end of its anniversary year, BMW M GmbH has once again achieved record results. Global sales of performance and high-performance cars rose to 177,257 vehicles during the 2022 financial year. This represents an increase of 8.4 per cent compared to the previous year, despite the continuing challenging conditions in the area of logistics and supply chains. The most important single market in 2022 was again the USA, with the second most important sales region again being the German domestic market, followed by the UK.

“The enthusiasm of the M community for emotionally powerful performance on the road and on the racetrack has carried us through the entire anniversary year,” says Franciscus van Meel, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW M GmbH. “This is also expressed in a new sales record for BMW M automobiles, which gives us a positive outlook for 2023.”

BMW i4 M50: the best-selling BMW M automobile drives locally emission-free.
At the same time, 2022 marks BMW M GmbH's successful start into the age of electric mobility. “The best-selling BMW M automobile of 2022 is the all-electric BMW i4 M50,” says Timo Resch, Head of Customer, Brand and Sales at BMW M GmbH. “For us, this is a clear signal that the unique M feeling has arrived in the world of electrified vehicles.” The BMW i4 M50 is powered by an electric motor on both the front and rear axles, which together generate a maximum output of 400 kW/544 hp. The perfectly coordinated power delivery of the two e-motors and independent suspension tuning ensure an M-typical driving experience characterised by dynamics, agility and precision, which proved to be a real crowd-puller right from the outset.

With the BMW iX M60*, a second all-electric performance car from BMW M GmbH made a highly successful debut. During the course of 2023, BMW M GmbH will continue its product offensive with, among other things, the first electrified high-performance automobile, the BMW XM, and the BMW i7 M70, a BMW M automobile based on the fully electric BMW i7. The further transformation towards electric mobility has also already been mapped out. In order to be able to include high-performance cars with purely electric drive in the range in the future, BMW M GmbH will intensify the corresponding concept testing in 2023. The focus will be on an integrated driving dynamics control system and an electric M xDrive all-wheel drive system with four electric motors, which will ensure that the emotionally powerful M feeling reaches an even higher level.

Anniversary year with spectacular premieres, BMW M3 and BMW M4 remain on the road to success, fast-paced launch for the new BMW M240i xDrive Coupe*.
The celebrations of the 50th anniversary of BMW M GmbH were accompanied by debuts for numerous spectacular new models. The broad spectrum of new releases ranged from the second generation of the puristic BMW M2*, with its combination of straight six-cylinder engine, 6-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive, which evokes classic driving pleasure in a high-performance automobile, to the extroverted BMW XM with its 480 kW/653 hp M HYBRID drive. The first BMW M3 Touring* also offers completely new ways to experience M-typical performance. This diversity creates ideal conditions for attracting additional target groups and generating further growth in 2023.

The current increase in sales figures is also based on sales successes in a wide range of vehicle segments. The high-performance sports cars of the BMW M3 and BMW M4 series, which – including the new BMW M3 Touring – are available in four body variants, in two performance levels, with a choice of a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed M Steptronic transmission, as well as with rear-wheel drive or the all-wheel drive system M xDrive, continued to enjoy particularly widespread popularity in 2022. BMW M GmbH thus covers a wide range of customer needs in this core segment.

With an exceptionally strong performance within their competitive environment, the high-performance cars based on BMW X models also contributed to BMW M GmbH's new sales record. The upcoming upgrade for the BMW X5 M and BMW X6 M models in spring 2023 will provide effective impetus for a continuation of this success story.

The successful launch of the new BMW M240i xDrive Coupe in 2022 proved to be a highlight in the performance car segment. The new edition of the compact two-door is powered by a 275 kW/374 hp straight-six engine and is now also available with classic rear-wheel drive. “The new sales record for BMW M Automobiles is based on our successful presence in a broad range of vehicle segments,” says Timo Resch. “With our wide-ranging product portfolio, we are also ideally positioned for the future.”

Premiere at Daytona: the new BMW M3 CS* and the BMW M Hybrid V8.
In addition, BMW M GmbH fulfils the desire for particularly concentrated racing characteristics with attractive special models – as early as 2022 with the BMW M4 CSL* and soon with the new BMW M3 CS.

The BMW M3 CS will make its world debut on the last weekend of January as part of the 24-hour race at Daytona. The tradition-steeped competition in the US state of Florida is also the venue for BMW M Motorsport's comeback to endurance racing. The new BMW M Hybrid V8 will compete there for the first time. 47 years after the Daytona overall victory of the legendary BMW 3.0 CSL, the new LMDh prototype is set to race for points in the IMSA GTP class of the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship before also competing in the official FIA World Endurance Championship at Le Mans and elsewhere in 2024.

The final phase of the development process and the subsequent test drives on various race tracks were among the highlights of 2022 for the BMW M GmbH motorsport department, while the all-important success on the race track was the overall victory in the DTM drivers' and teams' championships. South African Sheldon van der Linde and Team Schubert Motorsport secured the title win in the prestigious touring car championship in the very first season with the new BMW M4 GT3.

Munich. BMW M as contemporary art – in the wake of the further development of BMW Individual, the BMW M GmbH will be presenting its latest collaboration: a multi-tiered project with eminent international contemporary artist FUTURA 2000; the partnership will debut at Frieze Los Angeles 2020. In this collaboration, FUTURA 2000, who is known for his mastery of color, concentric forms, and kinetic composition, will create three exclusive and unique versions of the BMW M2 Competition (combined fuel consumption: 10.0 l/100 km; combine CO2 emissions: 227 g/km) in his unmistakable style, whilst also designing a limited-edition of the BMW M2 Competition which is scheduled for public purchase in June 2020. One of the hand-painted BMW M2 by FUTURA 2000 vehicles will celebrate its world premiere at the second Frieze Los Angeles—being held at the Paramount Pictures Studios in Hollywood from 13 to 16 February.

“The BMW M2 Competition is dynamic, extroverted and, to a certain degree, pleasantly provocative. I consider it a great honour to be able to add a special touch to this vehicle,” says FUTURA 2000. Markus Flasch, CEO BMW M GmbH, adds: "We are very proud of having been able to gain such an internationally well-known artist as FUTURA 2000 for the collaboration on the three unique one-offs of the BMW M2 Competition. I’m already looking forward very much to seeing how he transforms our M2 into the edition intended for our customers. With his unique, constructive and rebellious style, Futura is perfectly suited to a young and wild automobile such as the BMW M2 Competition."

The artist will work extensively on the three unique versions of the BMW M2 by FUTURA 2000 both on the exterior and in the interior. The limited-production models will also bear his unique signature. The trim strips on the instrument panel and the centre console of each vehicle boast a special, individually created FUTURA 2000 design. The bi-coloured, Dakota leather M sports seats in black and ivory white feature polar blue contrast stitching. In addition, the interior package includes an M Alcantara leather-clad sports steering wheel with a grey 12 o’clock marking and special door sill trims bearing the consecutive limited-edition number and a Futura signature. From the outside, the BMW M2 Edition designed by FUTURA 2000* is recognisable by the painted surfaces on the front and rear aprons and the side sills. Moreover, each car is fitted with 19-inch jet black light alloy wheels.

Frieze Los Angeles joined Frieze New York, Frieze London and Frieze Masters at the forefront of the international art fair calendar last year, celebrating Los Angeles’ position as a global arts center and destination. The annual contemporary art fair features around 70 L.A.-based and international galleries, alongside a site-specific program of talks, music and commissioned artist projects organized in collaboration with leading curators. Frieze Los Angeles is led by Victoria Siddall, Director, Frieze Fairs, and Bettina Korek, Executive Director, Frieze Los Angeles.

In celebration of their long-term partnership, BMW partners with Frieze to present Frieze Music, co-curated by writer and curator Kevin McGarry and Hans Ulrich Obrist, Artistic Director, Serpentine Galleries London, in association with NeueHouse. The event will feature Moses Sumney, Caroline Polachek, Zsela as well as DJ Uwuqi and takes place on Friday, 14 February, at 9 p.m. at NeueHouse Hollywood.

Soho House and BMW i will host an art talk on Wednesday, 12 February, where contemporary artist FUTURA 2000 and rapper Lupe Fiasco will talk about “Sights and Sounds”, moderated by writer Arty Nelson. As always, the joint event focusses on the fertile ground between art, innovation and design and is followed by a cocktail reception. As part of an ongoing collaboration, Soho House and BMW i have co‑created an international program of events and experiences focusing on art, innovation and design throughout Soho House locations across the world.

- The new BMW M2 CS (fuel consumption combined: 10.4 – 10.2 l/100 km [27.2 – 27.7 mpg imp], CO₂ emissions combined: 238 – 233 g/km*; with optional M DCT: fuel consumption combined: 9.6 – 9.4 l/100 km [29.4 – 30.1 mpg imp], CO₂ emissions combined: 219 – 214 g CO₂/km) is the first exclusive and limited-run special-edition model created by BMW M GmbH for the premium compact class. It is positioned as a high-performance model above the BMW M2 Competition and will build on the success already achieved by the BMW M3 CS and BMW M4 CS.
- Immensely capable basis for the BMW M2 CS Racing model, BMW M Motorsport’s new entry point to amateur racing and the new Clubsport segment (available from 2020).

Munich. M Performance Parts embody a sporty appearance and further enhanced driving dynamics. The new BMW M Performance Parts Concept based on the BMW M2 (combined fuel consumption: 8.5 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 199 g/km)* provides an even more marked shift in athletic flair towards motor racing style by means of a consistent weight reduction of more than 60 kilograms combined with optimised aerodynamics. The BMW M Performance Parts Concept is aptly presented in the exterior paint finish Frozen Black with M Performance wrapping in gold for accentuations and inscriptions. In the interior, Alcantara and carbon fibre further emphasise the sense of exclusivity, along with additional gold accentuations. BMW M GmbH was closely involved in creating this more emphatic design, contributing its racing expertise to the development of all M Performance Parts. The BMW M Performance Parts Concept sees its world premiere on 12 July: it will be lining up for the start of the hill race at the Festival of Speed in Goodwood (UK).

Carbon fibre parts reduce vehicle weight.
In addition to M Performance Parts that are already available, the BMW M Performance Parts Concept offers exclusive concept features. The result is a lower vehicle weight and therefore further optimised driving dynamics – and this applies on the race track, too. The overall effect is achieved by a range of individual measures – the use of carbon fibre has a particularly important role to play. This high-tech material is extremely stable but much lighter than standard components. With its unique appeal, it also ensures an exceptional appearance.

The striking M Performance Carbon front radiator grille (expected to be available for the BMW M2 Competition from 7/2018) – featuring an accentuating gold line in the Concept – perfectly matches the M Performance Carbon bonnet (expected to be available from 7/2018), which itself saves eight kilograms in weight as compared to the standard component. The M Performance carbon fibre front side panels (expected to be available from 11/2018) reduce the vehicle's weight by three kilograms, as well as optimising aerodynamics. A high-quality, individual look is also to be found in the M Performance carbon fibre front winglets and the carbon fibre side sill winglets (both available right away): these bear an exclusive gold accentuation in the Concept. The M Performance carbon fibre roof in clear carbon-fibre finish is especially impressive (expected to be available from 3/2019): it reduces the car's weight by another six kilograms and shifts the centre of gravity further towards the road. The complete wheel set with 19-inch M Performance forged wheel Y-spoke 763M in Frozen Gold (expected to be available from 7/2018) with semi-slicks not only provides a visual highlight, it is also six kilograms lighter than the standard wheels. This reduces unsprung masses as well as having the relevant positive effect in terms of driving dynamics and steering response.

M Performance aerodynamic components in carbon fibre.
An eye-catching rear is provided by the M Performance carbon fibre tailgate (expected to be available from 11/2018): it weighs five kilograms less than the standard part. The M Performance carbon fibre rear diffuser (available) reduces the car's weight by 0.5 kilograms and also optimises aerodynamics; in the Concept it bears a gold accentuation.

Carbon fibre, Alcantara and golden contrast seams define the interior.
Racing optimisation is also clearly to be seen in the interior: carbon fibre and Alcantara add especially refined sporty highlights inside the BMW M Performance Parts Concept. The M Performance carbon fibre sport seats with golden contrast seam ensure an excellent hold even when driving in highly dynamic style. The seats are covered with Alcantara and include a folding function for convenient access to the rear; they weigh nine kilograms less than the standard sports seats. Alcantara is also a defining feature of the M Performance lightweight rear seats, which reduce the weight of the vehicle by another 13 kilograms. In addition to a lasered M logo they bear a golden contrast seam – like the sports seats for driver and front passenger – and this is to be found in the same colour on the door and side trim in Alcantara and leather. The M Performance trim finishers also combine the two refined materials carbon fibre and Alcantara.

Meanwhile, unmistakable motor racing feeling is provided in the cockpit by the M Performance steering wheel Pro (available), also bearing a golden contrast seam. The upper and lower sections are covered in leather. In the handling section, Alcantara ensures an excellent hold combined with an exceptionally pleasant grip feel. The combination of carbon fibre and Alcantara is likewise to be found in the M Performance carbon fibre handbrake with Alcantara gaiter (available), which also features a golden contrast seam in the BMW M Performance Parts Concept – as do the velour floor mats.

M Performance suspension with adjustable compression and rebound stage.
For perfect road holding – even when driven in motor racing style – the BMW M Performance Parts Concept features the M Performance suspension, which is already available as a retrofit set for serial production vehicles. This coilover suspension enables a lowering of up to 20 millimetres; the damping technology is independently adjustable to 12 different compression stages and 16 different rebound stages. These properties give the M Performance suspension a very neutral driving response with much reduced rolling movement. To match the exterior body finish, the springs of the M Performance suspension in the Concept are finished in black, as are the calipers of the 18-inch brakes. An additional weight reduction of 14 kilograms is achieved by the use of a lighter BMW battery.

applicable at the time of type approval. The figures refer to a vehicle with basic configuration in Germany and the range shown considers the different size of the selected wheels and tires. The values of the vehicles labelled with (*) are already based on the new WLTP regulation and are translated back into NEDC-equivalent values in order to ensure the comparison between the vehicles. Met een wereldwijde verkoop van meer dan 12.000 exemplaren was de BMW M2 het succesvolste model van BMW M GmbH in 2017. Die enorme populariteit zorgde voor de ontwikkeling van een speciale editie van de M2 die de dynamiek van de compacte high-performance sportwagen onderstreept. Er worden 30 stuks voorzien voor de Belgische en Luxemburgse markt.

Munich. Racing technology and an expressive, high performance-oriented design help the BMW M2 (combined fuel consumption: 8.5 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 199 g/km) achieve its exceptional position within the premium compact segment. The exclusive BMW M2 Coupe Edition Black Shadow emphasises the compact high-powered sports car’s performance characteristics with precisely harmonized design features. The edition model will be available from April 2018.

The BMW M2 fascinates with precise handling and compelling forward thrust. The car’s 272 kW/370 hp straight six-cylinder engine, classic rear-wheel drive and suspension technology developed and tuned on the basis of many years of motor racing expertise, has aroused worldwide enthusiasm amongst sport drivers. With the optional 7-speed M dual clutch transmission with Drivelogic, the BMW M2 sprints from a standstill to 100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds.

De nieuwe BMW M2 Coupé (gemiddeld verbruik 8,5/100 km; gemiddelde CO2-uitstoot 199g/km) zet de standaard binnen het segment van compacte high-performance sportwagens op vlak van rijdynamiek en prestatie. Het extraverte design bevestigt het dynamische karakter van de wagen en haar uitstekende aanpassingsvermogen voor het circuit.

De BMW M2 Coupé in première in “Need for Speed” vanaf november. Virtuele M-sensaties nog voor de officiële lancering.

BMW en Ghost GamesTM, een studio van Electronic Arts Inc, hebben aangekondigd dat gameliefhebbers op een virtuele beleving van de BMW M2 kunnen rekenen nog voor z’n lancering. Het spel zelf zal gelanceerd worden op 3 november 2015. Met een rijke geschiedenis van meer dan 20 jaar, staat Need for SpeedTM voor een van de meest iconische spellen uit de virtuele gamewereld. In de aankomende versie zal het nieuwste lid van de BMW M GmbH familie van bij de lancering van de game speelbaar zijn. In de bijlage vindt u het Engelstalige persbericht.

Meer dan 40 jaar geleden al maakte BMW furore met compacte high-performance-sportwagens. In zijn tijd was de BMW 2002 reeds een fantastisch eerbetoon aan de ambities van de Beierse constructeur op het vlak van dynamisch rijgedrag, maximale wendbaarheid en een optimale beheersbaarheid van de wagen. Met de nieuwe BMW M2 bewijst BMW M GmbH opnieuw op onvergelijkbare wijze dat zij deze ambities nog steeds hoog in het vaandel draagt.
