Munich. Additions to the line-up of drive systems and the range of optional extras are set to further increase the appeal and diversity of the BMW product range from spring 2024. The BMW i5 Berline and BMW iX2 fully electric models will each be available from March 2024 with an additional drive system variant. The drive system offerings for the BMW X2 and BMW XM have also been expanded. And additional exterior paint finishes will be offered for the BMW 5 Series Berline, BMW X2 and BMW iX2. Customers will also be able to order the business berline with new variants of the BMW Individual Merino leather trim.

Attractive new features will also be introduced in spring 2024 in the area of digital services. These include easier use of the voice assistant Siri (as part of the integration of the Apple iPhone into cars specified with BMW Operating System 9), and the optimised display of ratings for charging stations for fully electric and plug-in hybrid BMW models. The steady expansion of the range of functions for the My BMW App also continues.

BMW i5 xDrive40: third fully electric variant of the business berline.

A third fully electric variant will be added to the new BMW 5 Series Berline line-up in March 2024. The new BMW i5 xDrive40 Berline (electric power consumption, combined: 20.0 – 17.2 kWh/100 km in the WLTP cycle) has two highly integrated electric drive units at the front and rear axle which together develop a system output of up to 290 kW/394 hp and peak torque of 590 Nm (435 lb-ft). Underpinned by the resultant electric all-wheel drive, the BMW i5 xDrive40 Berline accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.4 seconds. Its top speed is limited to 215 km/h (134 mph).

The third fully electric model variant of the new business berline stores its energy in a high-voltage battery positioned deep in the vehicle floor. The battery delivers 81.2 kWh of usable energy. The car’s Combined Charging Unit enables AC charging at a rate of 11 kW as standard and 22 kW as an option. And it also allows DC charging at fast-charging stations at up to 205 kW. This means the range of the BMW i5 xDrive40 Berline can be increased by 156 kilometres (97 miles) in the space of ten minutes. The likewise standard Plug & Charge Multi Contract function enables automatic authentication of the car at public charging points. The range of the new BMW i5 xDrive40 Berline as calculated in the WLTP cycle is 463 – 538 kilometres (288 – 334 miles).

Additional exterior paint finishes can be specified for all model variants of the new BMW 5 Series Berline from March 2024. The spectrum of colours will now also include the BMW Individual Frozen Portimao Blue metallic. At the same time, the business berline will also be offered with extremely exclusive BMW Individual special paint finishes. BMW Individual has come up with around 150 eye-catching shades (solid, metallic and matt) for this product area. All BMW Individual special paint finishes stand out with their impressive depth of colour and exceptional lustre. Customers can unlock an overview of the variants for the new BMW 5 Series Berline using the BMW Individual Visualizer, which can be accessed via a link in the vehicle configurator.

Added to which, extra variants of the seat and interior surfaces for the new BMW 5 Series Berline are also available. If the optional comfort seats have been specified, the BMW Individual Merino leather trim can also be specified in the bi-colour variants Dark Violet/Atlas Grey and Taupe Grey/Atlas Grey from March 2024.

New entry-level variant for the BMW iX2; launch of the BMW X2 xDrive20d.

BMW’s current model offensive in the area of electric mobility also brings additional variety to the premium compact segment. A new entry-level variant of the fully electric BMW iX2 will go on sale in March 2024. The new BMW iX2 eDrive20 (electric power consumption, combined: 16.9 – 15.3 kWh/100 km in the WLTP cycle) takes a particularly economical route to delivering locally emission-free driving pleasure in a compact Sports Activity Coupé (SAC). Powered by a 150 kW/204 hp electric motor at the front axle, it sprints from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 8.6 seconds and posts a range of 439 – 478 kilometres (273 – 297 miles) in the WLTP cycle. Its top speed is limited to 170 km/h (106 mph).

The high-voltage battery in the new BMW iX2 eDrive20 serves up 64.78 kWh of usable energy and can be charged from AC sources at 11 kW as standard and up to 22 kW as an option. DC charging is possible at up to 130 kW. Thanks to extremely efficient charging software and predictive heat management capability, brief stops are enough to significantly increase the battery charge. In ten minutes hooked up to a fast-charging station, the BMW iX2 eDrive20 can take on sufficient energy to boost its range by 120 kilometres (75 miles). The BMW iX2 eDrive20 is also equipped for using the Plug & Charge Multi Contract function as standard.

Lining up alongside the new entry-level variant of the BMW iX2 is the new BMW X2 xDrive20d (fuel consumption, combined: 5.2 – 4.8 litres/100 km [54.3 – 58.9 mpg imp]; CO₂ emissions, combined: 136 – 125 g/km in the WLTP cycle). The second diesel variant of the compact SAC is distinguished by even more rapid power delivery and even greater efficiency courtesy of 48V mild hybrid technology. Its 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine links up with an electric motor integrated into the seven-speed Steptronic transmission with double clutch. The motor serves as a crankshaft-driven starter generator and can both ease the load on the diesel engine and act in unison with it. The drive system develops maximum output of 120 kW/163 hp (developed by the combination of the combustion engine with up to 110 kW/150 hp and the electric motor with up to 14 kW/19 hp) and peak torque of 400 Nm / 295 lb-ft (developed by the combination of the combustion engine with up to 360 Nm / 265 lb-ft and the electric motor with up to 55 Nm / 41 lb-ft), all of which is channelled to the road via the intelligent all-wheel-drive system BMW xDrive. This allows the BMW X2 xDrive20d to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 8.6 seconds. Top speed is 207 km/h (129 mph).

From March 2024, all model variants of the new BMW X2 and new BMW iX2 will also be available with an expanded range of exterior paint finishes (BMW Individual Special Request). Frozen Black metallic is a new addition to the selection.

BMW XM 50e: high performance with maximum efficiency.

As the latest offshoot of the first ever electrified high-performance model from BMW M GmbH, the new BMW XM 50e (fuel consumption, combined: 1.7 – 1.3 litres/100 km [166.2 – 217.3 mpg imp]; electric power consumption, combined: 32.2 – 31.5 kWh/100 km; CO₂ emissions, combined: 37 – 30 g/km in the WLTP cycle) blends signature M dynamism, extrovert design and progressive interior luxury with maximum efficiency. Its M HYBRID drive system is composed of a six-cylinder in-line petrol engine and an electric motor integrated, together with its power electronics, into the eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission. This combination produces system output of 350 kW/476 hp (developed by the combination of the combustion engine with up to 230 kW/313 hp and the electric motor with up to 145 kW/197 hp) and maximum system torque of 700 Nm / 516 lb-ft (developed by the combination of the combustion engine with up to 450 Nm / 332 lb-ft and the electric motor with up to 280 Nm / 206 lb-ft).

The latest version of the 3.0-litre combustion engine fitted in the BMW XM 50e owes its enhanced performance characteristics among other things to the Miller combustion cycle, dual injection, an exhaust manifold integrated into the cylinder head and VANOS variable camshaft timing, which now works electrically. The electric motor has a pre-gearing stage patented by BMW, which allows the effective torque at the transmission input for the motor to be increased to 450 Nm (332 lb-ft). The top speed of the high-performance model – which is also equipped with the all-wheel-drive system M xDrive – is an electronically limited 250 km/h (155 mph). Thanks to an electric range of 77 – 83 kilometres (48 – 52 miles) in the WLTP cycle, the BMW XM 50e can cover much of its everyday mileage – e.g. in urban centres – with zero local emissions. And it can also be driven on electric power alone beyond the city limits at speeds of up to 140 km/h (87 mph).

The most efficient version of the new M HYBRID system comes together with the extraordinary presence of the unmistakable high-performance model in the Sports Activity Vehicle segment. The model-specific design features of the new variant include the black accent band along the sides of the car, plus a surround for the BMW kidney grille and trim detailing for the rear diffuser (both in Pearl-effect Chrome), exhaust tailpipe trim in Black high-gloss and silver-coloured bordering for the model badge. Customers wishing to bring an extra personal touch to the interior of their new BMW XM 50e – which also offers a unique combination of modern sports car flair and extravagant luxury with its M-specific cockpit, M multifunction seats, sculptural headliner and M Lounge in the rear compartment – can specify features including exclusive Vintage leather for the upper section of the instrument panel and door trim panels.

New digital services, My BMW App with additional functions.

Among the digital services available for the first time from spring 2024 is the extended smartphone integration for vehicles equipped with BMW Operating System 9. This enables the Siri voice assistant for the Apple iPhone to be activated directly by voice command and without needing to also press the push-to-talk button. Elsewhere, the cloud-based navigation system BMW Maps now boasts improved display of information on charging stations. The available images and ratings are shown both in the list of search results and in the detailed display. The charging station ratings will now be shown clearly on a scale of zero to five stars. 

Added to which, in numerous European countries the BMW iDrive display and control/operation system in many current models also enables digital payment of parking fees and – in Germany – also fuel top-ups from inside the car. As with payment of parking fees, this uses the credit card information pre-stored in the vehicle apps.

As a universal digital interface for data exchange between the customer and their car, the My BMW App offers an ever-expanding number of functions. From spring 2024, Comfort Access with the BMW Digital Key Plus will be integrated into the My BMW App in vehicles equipped with BMW Operating System 8, 8.5 or 9. In addition, the map view for selecting navigation destinations imported into the vehicle has been newly designed. This also improves the search function and the visibility of the most relevant content. Map and routing functions will in future be proposed based on current vehicle or user contexts.

Finally, the new E-mobility Analysis function will also be added to the My Trips menu item in the My BMW App. Based on the customer’s driving behaviour, this function proposes the BMW model with all-electric drive system most suited to them. These recommendations are intended to help spark interest among users of combustion-engined vehicles in switching to an electric vehicle.

De BMW XM Label Red speelt in op de behoeften en wensen van een wereldwijde doelgroep van individualisten – klanten met een voorliefde voor extraverte levensstijl en een passie voor ultieme prestaties in een auto die verder reikt dan de traditionele conventies. De productie start in augustus 2023 in de fabriek van de BMW Group in Spartanburg (VS). Voor dezelfde periode staat een exclusieve editie van het topmodel gepland, beperkt tot 500 exemplaren en met een koetswerkkleur in BMW Individual Frozen Carbon Black metallic.

De BMW XM Label Red viert zijn wereldpremière op het internationale autosalon van Auto Shanghai in april 2023. China is een van de belangrijkste verkoopregio’s voor de BMW XM Label Red, naast de VS en het Midden-Oosten. Hij is vanaf 28 april 2023 te bestellen bij Concessiehouders.

M HYBRID-systeem met nauwkeurige topprestaties.

Het M HYBRID-systeem in de BMW XM Label Red toont op indrukwekkende wijze het bedwelmende effect van de elektrificatie van het aandrijfsysteem in ultraperformante modellen van BMW M GmbH. Het nauwkeurig afgestelde samenspel van de elektromotor en de V8-motor verzekert een ogenblikkelijke vermogensontplooiing die zich vervolgens nadrukkelijk opbouwt tot in de hoogste regionen van het toerentalgebied. Deze combinatie van verbrandingsmotor en elektromotor past bij het aandrijfconcept van de nieuwe BMW M Hybrid V8 endurance-racewagen, die dit jaar een succesvol debuut maakte tijdens de 24 uur van Daytona in de Noord-Amerikaanse IMSA-serie en in 2024 zal deelnemen aan evenementen, zoals de 24 uur van Le Mans.

Met een verhoogd systeemvermogen van 550 kW/748 pk presteert het nieuwe topmodel beter dan de standaard BMW XM die sinds december 2022 wordt geproduceerd met 70 kW/95 pk. Het systeemkoppel stijgt met 200 Nm en piekt nu bij 1.000 Nm. Het vermogen wordt naar de weg geleid door de M xDrive-vierwielaandrijving. In combinatie met een modelspecifieke samenstelling van chassistechnologie en snelwerkende, uiterst nauwkeurige aandrijflijn en chassisregeling creëert dit een unieke prestatie-ervaring met dynamiek en wendbaarheid op een totaal nieuw niveau.

V8-motor met baanbrekende M TwinPower Turbo-technologie en klassiek hoogtoerig karakter.

Het M HYBRID-systeem van de BMW XM Label Red combineert de toekomstgerichte voordelen van elektrificatie met de traditionele kwaliteiten van een hoogtoerige achtcilinder verbrandingsmotor met M TwinPower Turbo-technologie. De nieuwste generatie van de V8 onderscheidt zich door zijn extreem snelle vermogensontplooiing, zijn hogere efficiëntie en zijn minimale uitstoot. Naast een dwars uitlaatspruitstuk beschikt hij ook over een versterkte krukasaandrijving, een turbo met een elektrisch gestuurde afblaasklep, een opgewaardeerde olietoevoer en een geoptimaliseerde oliescheiding.

In de BMW XM Label Red levert de V8 een nog grotere bijdrage aan de systeemoutput die samen met de elektromotor wordt gegenereerd. Zijn maximumvermogen van 430 kW/585 pk komt vrij bij 5.600 t/min. Het maximumkoppel bedraagt 750 Nm – een toename van 100 Nm ten opzichte van de motorversie in de standaard BMW XM – en is beschikbaar over een extreem breed toerentalbereik van 1.800 tot 5.400 t/min.

Met twee elektronisch gestuurde en continu verstelbare kleppen biedt het sportuitlaatsysteem van de BMW XM Label Red een emotioneel rijke aanvulling op de vermogensontplooiing van de motor, met een levendigheid en energie die normaal niet wordt geassocieerd met een achtcilinder. Het motorgeluid heeft daarom een heel eigen kwaliteit, net als de twee paar dubbele uitlaatpijpen, waarbij de afzonderlijke pijpen boven elkaar zijn geplaatst.

Ogenblikkelijke vermogensontplooiing: elektromotor met innovatieve pre-gearing.

Net als de V8-motor maakt ook de elektromotor van het M HYBRID-systeem gebruik van innovatieve technologie om de trekkracht merkbaar te verhogen. De synchrone, permanent bekrachtigde motor is samen met zijn vermogenselektronica in de achttraps M versnellingsbak Steptronic geïntegreerd en reageert in de inmiddels bekende stijl van elektromotoren met een ogenblikkelijke vermogensontplooiing op slechts lichte bewegingen van het gaspedaal.

De elektromotor draagt tot 145 kW/197 pk bij tot het maximale systeemvermogen van de BMW XM Label Red en ontwikkelt een nominaal koppel van 280 Nm. Een door BMW gepatenteerde pre-gearing wordt gebruikt om het koppel van de motor te verhogen tot een effectief maximum van 450 Nm bij de transmissie-input voor de motor. Op die manier zorgt de compacte motor voor het soort koppelboost dat normaal alleen kan worden bereikt met een veel grotere en zwaardere motor.

De verbeterde vermogensopbouw die het resultaat is van de pre-gearing tussen de rotor van de elektromotor en de ingaande as van de transmissie is duidelijk voelbaar, zowel bij acceleraties vanuit stilstand als bij snelle acceleraties. In combinatie met de geoptimaliseerde vermogensontplooiing van de V8-motor en zijn hoogtoerige karakter levert dat prestaties van een zeldzame autoriteit en kalmte. De BMW XM Label Red heeft slechts 3,8 seconden nodig om van 0 naar 100 km/u te sprinten. Zijn topsnelheid is elektronisch begrensd op 250 km/u, maar stijgt tot 290 km/u op auto’s met het optionele M Driver’s Pack.

De elektromotor levert niet alleen een elektrische boost bij acceleraties, maar heeft ook een ondersteunende rol bij constante belasting en helpt zo de efficiëntie van de verbrandingsmotor te verhogen. Dat geeft de BMW XM Label Red een gemiddeld benzineverbruik van 1,7 – 1,6 liter per 100 kilometer in de WLTP-testcyclus, een gecombineerd elektriciteitsverbruik van 34,5 – 33,0 kWh per 100 kilometer en een CO₂-uitstoot van 39 – 35 gram per kilometer.

Krachtige hoogspanningsaccu, BMW IconicSounds Electric, Combined Charging Unit en voorspellend warmtebeheer.

De motor haalt zijn energie uit een in de bodemplaat geïntegreerde lithium-ion-hoogspanningsaccu, een product van de BMW eDrive-technologie van de vijfde generatie. De lithium-ionbatterij onderscheidt zich door zijn hoge energiedichtheid op cel- en batterijniveau. Ze levert een constante vermogensstroom over een breed temperatuurbereik en zelfs onder de zware belasting van een bijzonder sportieve rijstijl. Ze heeft een bruikbare energie-inhoud van 25,7 kWh. Samen met de uitstekende efficiëntie van de elektromotor en het systeem van intelligent energiebeheer zorgt dit voor een elektrisch rijbereik van 75 tot 83 kilometer in de WLTP-cyclus.

De BMW XM Label Red kan dus niet alleen ritten door de stad, maar ook routes over het land lokaal emissievrij en bijna geruisloos afwerken. De topsnelheid die in zuiver elektrische modus haalbaar is, bedraagt 140 km/u. De vermogensafgifte van de elektromotor krijgt ook een eigen soundtrack, in de vorm van de BMW IconicSounds Electric die werd ontwikkeld in het kader van een samenwerking tussen de BMW Group en filmcomponist Hans Zimmer.

De Combined Charging Unit van het M HYBRID-systeem maakt het mogelijk om wisselstroom op te laden tot 7,4 kW. Dat betekent dat de hoogspanningsaccu van nul tot 100 procent kan worden opgeladen in 4,25 uur. Een voorspellend warmtebeheer beperkt de laadtijden door de batterij verstandig op te warmen of af te koelen. Standaard worden zowel de Flexible Fast Charger voor gebruik met huishoudelijke of industriële stopcontacten als de laadkabel Professional geleverd. Deze mode 3-kabel voor het bijladen aan openbare laadstations kan bewaard worden in een stijlvolle en exclusieve weekendtas en in de kofferruimte worden bevestigd met een gordel met karabijnhaak, zodat deze ook beschermd is bij een botsing.

Superieure tractie, fascinerende prestaties: M xDrive en M Sport-differentieel.

De vierwielaandrijving M xDrive brengt het vermogen van de verbrandingsmotor en de elektromotor op elk moment nauwkeurig, snel en naar wens over naar de vier wielen. Het systeem heeft een naar achteren gerichte opstelling, wat de wendbaarheid van de BMW XM Label Red ten goede komt en wat vooral merkbaar is in de 4WD Sport-modus. Wanneer het DSC-systeem (Dynamic Stability Control) volledig is uitgeschakeld, kan de 4WD Sand-modus met geoptimaliseerde tractie – speciaal ontwikkeld om over duinen en soortgelijke oppervlakken te rijden – geactiveerd worden via het M Setup-menu.

Voortbouwend op het werk van het M xDrive-systeem is er een elektronisch gestuurd sperdifferentieel in de achteras, dat de tractie, wendbaarheid en richtingsstabiliteit verder verbetert. Het M Sport-differentieel zorgt voor een op de behoeften gebaseerde en volledig variabele verdeling van het aandrijfkoppel tussen de linker- en rechterwielen achteraan.

Modelspecifieke chassisafstelling, geïntegreerd dwarsdynamiekbeheer.

De krachtigste straatlegale BMW M ooit maakte niet alleen indruk met de unieke vermogensontplooiing van zijn M HYBRID-systeem, maar ook met zijn vele rijeigenschappen, die keer op keer opwindend en meeslepend waren. De BMW XM Label Red gaat elke uitdaging aan met een onwrikbare houding en zelfverzekerdheid, of het nu gaat om het tonen van zijn uitgesproken sportieve prestaties, het gezellig rondrijden (desgewenst lokaal emissieloos), het uitnodigen van zijn inzittenden om in alle comfort te ontspannen tijdens lange ritten of om onverharde wegen te trotseren. De geavanceerde chassistechnologie van de wagen geeft hem een buitengewone variatie aan eigenschappen, van dynamiek tot langeafstandscomfort, en is aangepast aan de specifieke prestatiekenmerken van het aandrijfsysteem met de precisie waarvoor de BMW M-modellen bekend staan.

De standaarduitrusting van de BMW XM Label Red omvat de adaptieve M ophanging Professional – met elektronisch gestuurde schokdempers en actieve rolstabilisatie met Active Roll Comfort om rolbewegingen aan één kant van de wagen te elimineren – en Integral Active Steering. Het M Sport-remsysteem bestaat uit vaste remzadels met zes zuigers vooraan en zwevende remzadels met enkele zuiger achteraan. Het werkt samen met het geïntegreerde remsysteem van de nieuwste generatie, dat ervoor zorgt dat de remkracht van de recuperatie en de wrijvingsrem perfect gecombineerd worden, en dat de bestuurder ook tweepedaalgevoelinstellingen biedt.

Net als de vierwielaandrijving M xDrive zijn ook het M Sport-differentieel, de actieve rolstabilisatie en de stuurregelsystemen, de in het motormanagement geïntegreerde wielslipbegrenzingstechnologie nabij de actuator en de Performance Control-functie gekoppeld aan het centrale dwarsdynamiekbeheer. De geïntegreerde toepassing van alle aandrijvings- en chassissystemen en de verfijning op basis van verschillende wegtypes – van stadsverkeer tot landwegen en snelwegen – met behulp van de race-expertise van BMW M GmbH hebben in elke situatie en in elke configuratie geleid tot een welomlijnde rijervaring.

Extravert design met exclusieve details.

Zowel stilistisch als technisch neemt de BMW XM Label Red het eerste model sinds de legendarische BMW M1 dat uitsluitend als een uiterst performante wagen van BMW M GmbH werd ontworpen, mee naar een nog exclusiever terrein. De gespierde proporties van een dynamisch Sports Activity Vehicle gaan hand in hand met een extravert exterieurdesign met grote oppervlakken, heldere lijnen en een voorzijde kenmerkend voor BMW-modellen uit de luxeklasse. En aan die mix worden designaccenten toegevoegd die het unieke karakter van de BMW XM Label Red benadrukken als een auto die gericht is op het bereiken van de hoogste prestatiepieken.

De onderscheidende kenmerken van de prestatiegerichte XM-variant zijn onder meer een accentband in de metaalkleur Toronto Red, hoewel ook een zwarte accentband kan worden besteld. Het gebruik van rood geldt ook voor de modellogo's en de wielinzetstukken. De BMW XM Label Red wordt standaard geschoeid met 21" lichtmetalen velgen. De omlijstingen voor de BMW M-nieren en de diffusorelementen zijn uitgevoerd in hoogglanzend zwart.

Het gamma koetswerkkleuren dat voor het nieuwe model beschikbaar is, omvat één effen en acht metallic varianten. Klanten kunnen ook kiezen uit meer dan 50 speciale BMW Individual lakkleuren, waaronder de nieuwe BMW Individual Urban Green, BMW Individual Petrol Mica metallic, BMW Individual Anglesey Green metallic en BMW Individual Sepia metallic. De nieuwe BMW Individual Visualizer (op https://individual.bmw-m.com/) is voor het eerst beschikbaar vanaf het begin van de bestellingen voor de BMW XM Label Red om klanten te helpen bij het kiezen van de koetswerkkleur. De wagen wordt uiterst realistisch weergegeven in de lakkleur die de klant heeft gekozen tegen de achtergrond van BMW M Town. Hier is het te bekijken vanuit verschillende hoeken en met behulp van 360 gradenvideo.

De beperkte reeks van de BMW XM Label Red – waarvan wereldwijd slechts 500 exemplaren zullen worden uitgebracht – maximaliseert de exclusiviteitsfactor met een nog expressievere styling. De Toronto Red metallic voor de omlijsting van de BMW M-nieren en het inzetstuk van de diffuser achteraan creëert extra designelementen die worden gecombineerd met een koetswerkkleur in BMW Individual Frozen Carbon Black metallic. Het contrast van de glanzende kleuraccenten tegen glinsterende matte oppervlakken zorgt ervoor dat het exterieur van de BMW XM Label Red bijzonder meeslepend werkt.

Een zwart-rood-kleurenschema geeft ook het interieur van de BMW XM Label Red een visueel aantrekkelijke en sportieve smaak. De opvallende driedimensionale hemelbekleding en de bekleding van de koetswerkstijlen hebben zwarte oppervlakken. Rood wordt gebruikt om de ruitvormige bovendelen van de rugleuningen en de geïntegreerde hoofdsteunen van de zetels voor de bestuurder en voorpassagier en de buitenste achterzetels een extra gevoel van exclusiviteit te geven. Dat wordt nog aangevuld met rode contrasterende stiknaden voor de zwarte oppervlakken van de zetels, het instrumentenbord, de deurbekleding en de middenconsole en de eveneens rode accenten voor de verluchtingsroosters. Een van de andere exclusieve kenmerken van het interieur van de BMW XM Label Red is een rood ‘XM’-logo onder het controledisplay en een decoratieve strip in Carbon Fibre satin effect met rode en blauwe accentdraden die dit als een M-auto benadrukken. In de limited-editionvariant van de Label Red vinden klanten onder het controlelampje een plaatje waarop staat ‘1 van 500’.

Sportwagencockpit met BMW Curved Display; M Lounge achteraan.

De multifunctionele M-zetels, kniebeschermers, M specifieke uitrusting op het BMW Curved Display en het standaard gemonteerde Head-Up Display, de typische M-keuzehendel en een M specifiek bedieningspaneel op de middenconsole zijn de belangrijkste kenmerken van een sportwagencockpit, geoptimaliseerd om een uiterst meeslepende rijervaring aan boord te creëren. De M Hybrid-toets wordt gebruikt om de gewenste bedrijfsmodus voor het aandrijfsysteem te selecteren, terwijl de Setup-toets rechtstreeks toegang biedt tot de configuratie van de aandrijflijn, het chassis, de stuurinrichting, het remsysteem en M xDrive, en waarmee ook het niveau van de remenergierecuperatie kan worden aangepast. Het lederen M-stuur heeft sierelementen in Black Chrome, plus M-knoppen en -schakelpaddles met carbon inlegwerk waarvan de plus- en minsymbolen rood zijn. Een exclusieve speciale voorziening van de BMW XM Label Red is het symbool voor de Boost-modus op de linker schakelpaddle.

Een royaal ruimtegevoel, hoogwaardige materialen en een extravagant design maken de achterkant van de BMW XM Label Red tot een exclusieve M Lounge. De optionele verwarmbare rugleuningen die zich uitstrekken tot ver in de zijkanten van het interieur en de kussens in Merino-leder met rode contrastnaden en een ‘XM’-logo bieden de passagiers een luxueus comfortniveau. De gebeitelde hemelbekleding is vrij uniek met zijn driedimensionale prismastructuur, een passe-partoutachtige boord en 100 led-eenheden voor verlichting. Ook de sfeerverlichting, de automatische airconditioning met vier zones, het Harman Kardon Surround Sound System en het Travel & Comfort System behoren tot de standaarduitrusting, terwijl de optielijst het Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System met een versterker van 1.475 watt en vier extra luidsprekers in de dakzone omvat.

Geavanceerde rijhulpsystemen; standaard BMW Live Cockpit Professional.

De BMW XM Label Red biedt klanten een uitgebreide selectie van geavanceerde systemen voor geautomatiseerd rijden en parkeren. Een van de standaardtechnologieën is de Driving Assistant, die bestaat uit Front Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning inclusief actieve terugvoering naar de rijstrook, de Evasion Assistant, Alertness Assistant en het Speed Limit Info-systeem. De optionele Driving Assistant Professional combineert de actieve snelheidsregelaar met Stop & Go-functie met functies zoals de Steering & Lane Control Assistant, Traffic Light Recognition, Automatic Speed Limit Assist en Active Navigation.

Parking Assistant Plus maakt ook deel uit van de standaarduitrusting. Naast de Reversing Assistant voegt dit systeem Parking View, Panorama View voor- en achteraan en 3D View toe aan het repertoire van functies.

De BMW XM Label Red is standaard uitgerust met de BMW Live Cockpit Professional, die de nieuwste generatie van de BMW iDrive multi-sensorische voertuigervaring met zich meebrengt, hier gebaseerd op een M specifieke versie van BMW Operating System 8. With her as co-creator, the worldwide communication for the market launch of the BMW XM under the motto "Dare to be You" focuses on a new dimension of self-confident presence, expressive lifestyle and assured individuality. Adapted from endurance racing and used for the first time in a production model, the BMW XM's M HYBRID drive generates a system output of 480 kW/653 hp. As a special BMW XM Label Red model (fuel consumption combined: 1.7 - 1.6 litres/100 km; combined power consumption: 34.5 - 33.0 kWh/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 39 - 35 g/km according to WLTP) and with a maximum output of 550 kW/748 hp, it will even become the most powerful series-production vehicle ever approved for road use in the 50-year history of BMW M GmbH from autumn 2023.

Munich. At the end of its anniversary year, BMW M GmbH has once again achieved record results. Global sales of performance and high-performance cars rose to 177,257 vehicles during the 2022 financial year. This represents an increase of 8.4 per cent compared to the previous year, despite the continuing challenging conditions in the area of logistics and supply chains. The most important single market in 2022 was again the USA, with the second most important sales region again being the German domestic market, followed by the UK.

“The enthusiasm of the M community for emotionally powerful performance on the road and on the racetrack has carried us through the entire anniversary year,” says Franciscus van Meel, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW M GmbH. “This is also expressed in a new sales record for BMW M automobiles, which gives us a positive outlook for 2023.”

BMW i4 M50: the best-selling BMW M automobile drives locally emission-free.
At the same time, 2022 marks BMW M GmbH's successful start into the age of electric mobility. “The best-selling BMW M automobile of 2022 is the all-electric BMW i4 M50,” says Timo Resch, Head of Customer, Brand and Sales at BMW M GmbH. “For us, this is a clear signal that the unique M feeling has arrived in the world of electrified vehicles.” The BMW i4 M50 is powered by an electric motor on both the front and rear axles, which together generate a maximum output of 400 kW/544 hp. The perfectly coordinated power delivery of the two e-motors and independent suspension tuning ensure an M-typical driving experience characterised by dynamics, agility and precision, which proved to be a real crowd-puller right from the outset.

With the BMW iX M60*, a second all-electric performance car from BMW M GmbH made a highly successful debut. During the course of 2023, BMW M GmbH will continue its product offensive with, among other things, the first electrified high-performance automobile, the BMW XM, and the BMW i7 M70, a BMW M automobile based on the fully electric BMW i7. The further transformation towards electric mobility has also already been mapped out. In order to be able to include high-performance cars with purely electric drive in the range in the future, BMW M GmbH will intensify the corresponding concept testing in 2023. The focus will be on an integrated driving dynamics control system and an electric M xDrive all-wheel drive system with four electric motors, which will ensure that the emotionally powerful M feeling reaches an even higher level.

Anniversary year with spectacular premieres, BMW M3 and BMW M4 remain on the road to success, fast-paced launch for the new BMW M240i xDrive Coupe*.
The celebrations of the 50th anniversary of BMW M GmbH were accompanied by debuts for numerous spectacular new models. The broad spectrum of new releases ranged from the second generation of the puristic BMW M2*, with its combination of straight six-cylinder engine, 6-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive, which evokes classic driving pleasure in a high-performance automobile, to the extroverted BMW XM with its 480 kW/653 hp M HYBRID drive. The first BMW M3 Touring* also offers completely new ways to experience M-typical performance. This diversity creates ideal conditions for attracting additional target groups and generating further growth in 2023.

The current increase in sales figures is also based on sales successes in a wide range of vehicle segments. The high-performance sports cars of the BMW M3 and BMW M4 series, which – including the new BMW M3 Touring – are available in four body variants, in two performance levels, with a choice of a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed M Steptronic transmission, as well as with rear-wheel drive or the all-wheel drive system M xDrive, continued to enjoy particularly widespread popularity in 2022. BMW M GmbH thus covers a wide range of customer needs in this core segment.

With an exceptionally strong performance within their competitive environment, the high-performance cars based on BMW X models also contributed to BMW M GmbH's new sales record. The upcoming upgrade for the BMW X5 M and BMW X6 M models in spring 2023 will provide effective impetus for a continuation of this success story.

The successful launch of the new BMW M240i xDrive Coupe in 2022 proved to be a highlight in the performance car segment. The new edition of the compact two-door is powered by a 275 kW/374 hp straight-six engine and is now also available with classic rear-wheel drive. “The new sales record for BMW M Automobiles is based on our successful presence in a broad range of vehicle segments,” says Timo Resch. “With our wide-ranging product portfolio, we are also ideally positioned for the future.”

Premiere at Daytona: the new BMW M3 CS* and the BMW M Hybrid V8.
In addition, BMW M GmbH fulfils the desire for particularly concentrated racing characteristics with attractive special models – as early as 2022 with the BMW M4 CSL* and soon with the new BMW M3 CS.

The BMW M3 CS will make its world debut on the last weekend of January as part of the 24-hour race at Daytona. The tradition-steeped competition in the US state of Florida is also the venue for BMW M Motorsport's comeback to endurance racing. The new BMW M Hybrid V8 will compete there for the first time. 47 years after the Daytona overall victory of the legendary BMW 3.0 CSL, the new LMDh prototype is set to race for points in the IMSA GTP class of the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship before also competing in the official FIA World Endurance Championship at Le Mans and elsewhere in 2024.

The final phase of the development process and the subsequent test drives on various race tracks were among the highlights of 2022 for the BMW M GmbH motorsport department, while the all-important success on the race track was the overall victory in the DTM drivers' and teams' championships. South African Sheldon van der Linde and Team Schubert Motorsport secured the title win in the prestigious touring car championship in the very first season with the new BMW M4 GT3.
