The new BMW F 450 GS marks the next step in the GS model family, specifically addressing the 48 hp A2 class with proven GS technology and iconic design.

At the EICMA international motorcycle show, BMW Motorrad gave a preview of a fully-fledged GS model already in 2024, which specifically addresses the steadily growing market segment of medium-sized displacement motorcycles.

The series version of the BMW F 450 GS consistently lives up to this claim: It is a versatile all-rounder that combines everyday usability, sporty dynamic performance, touring comfort, and off-road capabilities. In the "GS Trophy" equipment variant, it follows in the footsteps of the concept vehicle. It adopts its striking design language and high-quality, high-tech components, including magnesium parts for maximum performance and low weight.

With its balanced power-to-torque ratio, low weight, and characteristic GS ergonomics, the F 450 GS provides riding fun and confidence from the first meter. The new F 450 GS thus combines the classic GS spirit with a modern, accessible, and simultaneously powerful approach.

The BMW Easy Ride Clutch (ERC) is a technical highlight and a further development of a centrifugal clutch. This system eliminates the need to manually operate the clutch lever while riding. This applies to all situations, from starting off and changing gears to demanding off-road maneuvers. BMW Motorrad is setting a new standard in this vehicle class.

A range of attractive options will be added at the time of market launch: The F 450 GS can be equipped with an Akrapovic end muffler and original BMW Motorrad cross-spoke wheels on request. The result is a package that combines sporty dynamic performance, technical innovation and GS DNA perfectly.

Performance developed from scratch: A confident companion for both road and 
off-road riding.
The completely redesigned BMW F 450 GS is a sporty adventure bike that complements the current BMW Motorrad model portfolio, with developers focusing on excellent handling characteristics, strong performance, durability, and optimum accessibility.

The design focuses on the consistent implementation of the current GS design language. With iconic features such as the LED headlight with "X" daytime riding light and the distinctive flyline, the bike's affiliation with the BMW Motorrad GS family is clear at first glance.

Completely redesigned, smooth-running and characterful two-cylinder in-line engine with 135-degree crankpin offset for dynamic riding pleasure on asphalt and off-road.
At the heart of the new BMW F 450 GS is a completely newly developed two-cylinder in-line engine with fuel injection and a stainless steel exhaust system on the right-hand side. The new F 450 GS impresses with its powerful performance and pulling power, delivering a power output of 35 kW (48 hp) at 8,750 rpm and a maximum torque of 43 Nm at 
6,750 rpm.
Thanks to the use of high-tech materials and optimized internal friction, these performance values are achieved with exactly 420 cm³. This makes the engine one of the most compact and powerful in the A2 two-cylinder segment. It not only meets the strict EU5+ requirements but is also particularly economical, consuming just 3.8 liters per 100 km. A range of over 350 km can be achieved in conjunction with the 14-liter tank. The maintenance interval is the standard 10,000 km for BMW motorcycles.

Unique on the motorcycle market, the engine features a crankshaft with crankpins offset by 135 degrees and, in conjunction with a single balance shaft, sets a technical exclamation mark: this design ensures a characterful, emotional ride while simultaneously reducing unwanted vibrations to an exceptionally low level.

Easy Ride Clutch (ERC) for a significant increase in dynamics, operating comfort, and riding comfort.
A technical highlight of the new BMW F 450 GS is the Easy Ride Clutch (ERC). Its core is a precision centrifugal unit in the clutch, which engages the clutch depending on engine speed.

This system is standard on the GS Trophy variant and available as an optional accessory for all other model variants. In combination with the Shift Assistant Pro, manual operation of the clutch lever is completely eliminated – from starting off and gear changes to demanding maneuvers.

The clutch lever, however, remains intact and allows the rider to intervene manually at any time if necessary – for example, to lift the front wheel over an obstacle or to improve control when descending on slippery surfaces.

Technologically, the ERC is based on an advanced centrifugal clutch. Unlike conventional systems, it remains closed during overrun. This creates natural, familiar, and predictable handling at all times – comparable to a conventional clutch. The engine brake remains fully active until just before a stop; only when the idle speed is reached does the ERC automatically open, reliably preventing the engine from stalling.

The system ensures greater dynamics, control, and comfort – whether maneuvering, in city traffic, on winding roads, or off-road.

Six-speed transmission and left-mounted secondary drive. Shift Assistant Pro for quick upshifts and downshifts without clutch operation.
The likewise newly designed six-speed transmission transmits torque to the left-hand secondary drive via an X-ring chain.
For fast upshifts and downshifts without clutch operation, the new F 450 GS is offered with Shift Assistant Pro in all equipment variants except the basic variant. This can be retrofitted to the basic version.

"Rain," "Road," and "Enduro" riding modes, as well as ABS Pro, DBC, DTC, and MSR (engine drag control), are standard features for a high level of riding enjoyment and safety. An additional "Enduro Pro" riding mode is available starting with the Exclusive trim variant.
The BMW F 450 GS offers three riding modes as standard: "Rain", "Road" and "Enduro", allowing the motorcycle to be adapted to suit individual preferences. Standard equipment also includes ABS Pro, Dynamic Brake Control (DBC), Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) and engine drag torque control (MSR).

The additional “Enduro Pro” mode, which is used from the Exclusive equipment variant onwards, is designed for off-road use with coarse-tread off-road tires and allows the ABS on the rear wheel to be deactivated.

Newly developed chassis with tubular steel frame for optimal rigidity, robustness, and driving precision. Short wheelbase for agile and playful handling.
The new BMW F 450 GS also features a completely new chassis concept. Playful handling, optimum accessibility, high riding precision and riding stability were the developers' top priorities. The specially developed lattice-tube frame of the 
BMW F 450 GS consists of welded steel tubes and forged parts. The frame integrates the two-cylinder in-line engine as a supporting element and is designed to be lightweight yet robust.

The front wheel is guided via KYB upside-down telescopic forks, while the rear wheel is guided via an aluminum hollow cast double armed swinging arm with a KYB central spring strut featuring progressive damping.
Front wheel control is provided by a torsionally rigid KYB upside-down telescopic fork with a 43 mm inner tube diameter. The Sport and GS Trophy variants feature the so-called "sports suspension." The fork is adjustable for rebound and compression damping. Rear wheel control is provided by a closed, and therefore extremely torsionally rigid, yet lightweight, hollow-cast aluminum double-sided swing arm, coupled with a directly connected KYB central spring strut (adjustable spring preload and rebound damping) with travel-dependent damping derived from rally racing, a unique feature in this segment.

Wheels and tires tailored to the typical BMW GS applications.
The new BMW F 450 GS features lightweight yet robust cast aluminum wheels. It is fitted with tubeless tires for road and off-road use, sized 100/90-19 at the front and 
130/80-17 at the rear. Additionally, the Original BMW Motorrad Accessories range offers cross-spoke wheels.

A powerful braking system combined with BMW Motorrad ABS Pro ensures safe braking even when leaning. Dynamic Brake Control (DBC) and Dynamic Brake Light are additional safety features.
The front wheel of the new BMW F 450 GS features a floating single-disc brake with a Brembo 4-piston fixed caliper and a 310 mm brake disc diameter for superior, stable deceleration. A single disc brake with 1-piston floating caliper and 240 mm diameter is used on the rear wheel.

The new BMW F 450 GS already comes standard with BMW Motorrad ABS Pro. ABS Pro also offers increased safety when braking in curves by enabling ABS-assisted braking while leaning. Dynamic Brake Control (DBC) offers increased safety when braking, even in difficult situations, by preventing unintentional throttle application. The dynamic brake light effectively alerts following vehicles to the braking motorcycle ahead.

Optimal ergonomics and equipment for comfortable, playful, and agile motorcycling on and off-road.
A sophisticated ergonomic triangle and a high, close-to-the-body handlebar made of tapered aluminum tubing ensure an ideal riding position in all conditions. The body and the 14-liter fuel tank below it are designed for optimal support and good knee contact, both when seated and while standing off-road. A wide range of accessories are available to meet the individual needs of riders, including a handlebar riser, a rally seat, and the option of a low seat.

Three different seat variants, adjustable hand levers, a handlebar riser, and secure footrests with height-adjustable gearshift and footbrake levers ensure optimal riding comfort both on and off-road.
The new BMW F 450 GS comes with a two-part seat (845 mm) as standard. The low Black rider's seat (830 mm) and the high Rallye seat in Black/White/Red (865 mm), available as part of the Original BMW Motorrad Accessories, can be adapted to individual requirements. The standard adjustable handlebar levers and the optional 20 mm handlebar risers made of high-strength anodized silver aluminum offer further adjustment options.

Met de nieuwe dynamische roadster BMW F 900 R en de nieuwe cross-over BMW F 900 XR tilt BMW Motorrad zijn populaire middenklassegamma naar een nieuw niveau. Beide F-modellen zijn ontworpen met het oog op sportiviteit en plezier op bochtige wegen en blinken uit door hun nog wendbaardere rijgedrag, dat zowel bij ervaren rijders als bij nieuwkomers en mensen die het motorrijden weer opnemen in de smaak zal vallen. Bij de nieuwe BMW F 900 R en F 900 XR zorgt de beproefde tweecilinder-in-lijnmotor met een inhoud van 895 cm³ en een vermogen van 77 kW (105 pk) voor een aangename rijdynamiek. Daarnaast kan hij uitpakken met een volle koppelcurve voor de huidige Euro 5+ homologatie. Met de nieuw afgestelde standaard rijmodus 'Dynamic' bieden de twee nieuwe F-modellen nog meer rijplezier en dynamiek bij een sportief tempo. Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) is standaard gemonteerd voor een optimale veiligheid tijdens het accelereren. Ook de motorkoppelregeling is standaard. Als extra veiligheid voorkomt ze dat het achterwiel doorslipt of wegschuift wanneer de rijder abrupt het gas lost of terugschakelt.

Het geluid van de tweecilindermotor, dat op zich al krachtig klinkt door het ontstekingsinterval van 270/450 graden, wordt nog scherper door de nieuwe sportdemper, een origineel BMW Motorrad accessoire ontwikkeld in samenwerking met Akrapovič, dat bovendien een gewichtsbesparing van ongeveer 1,2 kg oplevert.

Nieuwe telescopische 'upside-down'-vorken met instelbare in- en uitveerdemping en veervoorspanning. Nieuwe wielen, ongeveer 1,8 kg lichter. BMW Motorrad ABS Pro en Dynamic Brake Control DBC zijn standaard, voor nog meer veiligheid bij het remmen.

Zowel de nieuwe BMW F 900 R als de nieuwe BMW F 900 XR beschikt over een nieuwe, torsiestijve telescopische 'upside-down'-vork met schuine buis met een diameter van 43 mm om het voorwiel te geleiden. Zowel het in- en uitveren als de veervoorspanning zijn voortaan instelbaar. Dat maakt het mogelijk om de vork aan te passen aan de individuele behoeften.

De nieuwe BMW F 900 R en F 900 XR hebben ook nieuwe 17"-velgen van gegoten aluminium. Ze wegen ongeveer 1,8 kg minder dan de vorige modellen, wat bijdraagt aan de totale gewichtsvermindering van 3 kg.

Een andere nieuwe standaardvoorziening op de nieuwe F-modellen is het BMW Motorrad ABS Pro-systeem. Dat overtreft het BMW Motorrad ABS-systeem door een verbeterde veiligheid te bieden bij het remmen in bochten door ABS-ondersteund remmen bij hellingshoeken mogelijk te maken.

Nog een nieuw veiligheidskenmerk dat standaard wordt aangeboden, is Dynamic Brake Control (DBC), dat onbedoelde acceleraties voorkomt tijdens het remmen in moeilijke situaties om de veiligheid te garanderen.

Nieuwe, 0,8 kg lichtere batterij standaard aangeboden en richtingaanwijzers met extra functies in de nieuwe achterkant. BMW F 900 XR met standaard Headlight Pro inclusief dagrijlicht, Adaptive Headlight, USB-C-laadpoort en verwarmde handgrepen.
De twee nieuwe modellen uit de F Reeks zijn uitgerust met een nieuwe batterij die 0,8 kg lichter is. Ze hebben ook een nieuwe achterkant met richtingaanwijzers en geïntegreerde rem- en achterlichtfuncties.

De nieuwe BMW F 900 XR wordt standaard geleverd met Headlight Pro, inclusief dagrijlicht en Adaptive Headlight voor nog meer veiligheid in het donker. Andere nieuwe standaardkenmerken van de BMW F 900 XR zijn de USB-C-laadpoort aan de rechterkant van de cockpit met een maximale laadstroom van 2,4 A en de verwarmde handgrepen.

BMW F 900 R met geopti maliseerde ergonomie dankzij de nieuwe positie van het stuur en de voetsteunen voor een sportievere rijhouding. Nieuwe zijafwerking in koetswerkkleur voor de koplamp.

Het stuur, de voetsteunen en de voethendels van de ergonomische driehoek tussen stuur, zadel en voetsteunen van de nieuwe BMW F 900 R werden hertekend. Dat resulteerde in een zitpositie die merkbaar sportiever is en de rijder dichter bij het voorwiel plaatst.

De sportievere ambities van de nieuwe BMW F 900 R worden geaccentueerd door de zijafwerking in koetswerkkleur voor de koplampen.

BMW F 900 XR met geoptimaliseerde stroomlijn en standaard handbeschermers.
De nieuwe BMW F 900 XR biedt nog meer toercapaciteiten en comfort over lange afstanden dankzij de geoptimaliseerde aerodynamica in de stroomlijnkap vooraan. De nieuw ontworpen windgeleider beperkt de winddruk op de rijder, die daardoor gevoelig minder helmtrillingen en nog meer rijcomfort ervaart. Superieure off-road en rij-expertise voor de BMW Motorrad International GS Trophy 2024 Namibia.

Munich. When a total of 22 national teams - including six women's and 16 men's teams - with a total of 60 riders compete for the coveted trophy at the BMW Motorrad International GS Trophy 2024 Namibia from 15 to 20 September 2024, they will be able to rely on a superior workhorse as they cross Namibia: the BMW R 1300 GS Trophy Competition Bike.

The R 1300 GS Trophy Competition Bike has been developed exclusively for this competition, which has been held on the basis of the R 1300 GS since 2008 and is equipped for all eventualities thanks to special accessories. The large GS with its powerful boxer engine is fitted with a handlebar riser, engine protection bar, underride and frame guard, adjustable gear and brake levers, GS Vario rider footrests, enduro hand levers, headlight protection guard and white handguard extensions. The coarse-tread off-road tyres on the black cross-spoke wheels and the single seat bench are designed to cope with the sometimes difficult terrain of the BMW Motorrad International GS Trophy 2024 Namibia in East Africa.

With the exception of a few details, the R 1300 GS Trophy Competition Bike can be configured on the basis of the R 1300 GS Trophy.
Although the BMW Motorrad Competition Bike is not available for sale in exactly this form, it is based on the R 1300 GS Trophy model variant, with the exception of a few details such as the stickers, the large underride guard and the gearshift lever. The basic Racing Blue metallic colour says it all: with its red and white stripes and lettering, combined with the matt white metallic painted rear frame, the R 1300 GS Trophy literally whets the appetite for sporty off-road riding - just as the 22 teams will experience on their R 1300 GS Trophy Competition Bikes in September.

In the spirit of high off-road expertise, the Trophy is equipped ex works with radiator guards to protect against damage, for example from stone chipping. The robust cross-spoke wheels are also part of the off-road equipment. They come with black rims as standard and are also available in gold as an ex-works option.

The BMW F 900 GS Trophy Marshal Bike - the sporty, off-road BMW GS for the middle range as the vehicle for the GS Trophy Marshal Team.
The GS Trophy Marshals, who will guide the participants safely through Namibia's challenging terrain, can also rely on a high level of off-road expertise. Based on the
F 900 GS, the F 900 GS Trophy Marshal Bike is BMW Motorrad's premium offering in the mid-range touring enduro segment.

De nieuwe BMW F 900 GS, F 900 GS Adventure en F 800 GS: De nieuwe hoogwaardige tour-enduro's voor het middensegment bieden rijplezier in zijn puurste vorm dankzij nog meer gesofistikeerde capaciteiten voor offroad-ritten, reizen en avonturen.

Met de nieuwe F 900 GS, F 900 GS Adventure en F 800 GS geeft BMW Motorrad het gamma tour-enduro's voor het middensegment een flinke boost. Terwijl de nieuwe BMW F 800 GS de ideale motor is, vooral voor beginnende motorrijders, is de BMW F 900 GS Adventure uitermate geschikt voor verre avontuurlijke reizen en voor lange veeleisende ritten. Alle drie de modellen zijn sterk gemoderniseerd en bieden naast een nieuwe aandrijving nu onder meer een nog ruimere standaarduitrusting. De F 900 GS beschikt over tal van ingrijpende innovaties. Het scala aan toepassingen van de motorfiets werd aanzienlijk uitgebreid dankzij de verbeterde terreinkwaliteiten in combinatie met een drastische gewichtsvermindering van 14 kg in vergelijking met het vorige model. Dat maakt er een bijzonder sportieve F-reeks van.

Aandrijving met geavanceerde 2-cilinder-in-lijn motor met grotere cilinderinhoud, meer vermogen en motorkoppelregeling (Engine Drag Torque Control).

Op de nieuwe F 900 GS, F 900 GS Adventure en F 800 GS zorgt de geavanceerde 2-cilinder-in-lijn motor die in 2018 werd geïntroduceerd op de F 850 GS voor een betere rijdynamiek. De belangrijkste reden hiervoor is de toegenomen cilinderinhoud van 895 cc (voordien 853 cc). Met zijn ontstekingsinterval van 270/450 graden produceert de motor een bijzonder emotioneel geluid. Op de F 900 GS en F 900 GS Adventure levert hij 77 kW (105 pk) en op de F 800 GS 64 kW (87 pk). Naast een aanzienlijke toename van het maximumvermogen met 10 pk worden de nieuwe motoren ook gekenmerkt door een veel vollere koppelcurve, meer trekkracht en snellere acceleraties.

Twee rijmodi, standaard ABS Pro en DTC. Rijmodus Pro met bijkomende rijmodi, voorselectie van de rijmodus en motorkoppelregeling verkrijgbaar als optie af fabriek.

De nieuwe GS-modellen van de F-reeks bieden nu al standaard de twee rijmodi 'Rain' en 'Road' aan. Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), het voor bochten geoptimaliseerde ABS Pro-systeem en het dynamische remlicht. Met de rijmodus Pro, die verkrijgbaar is als optie af fabriek, kunnen de dynamische kwaliteiten van de nieuwe F 900 GS, F 900 GS Adventure en F 800 GS nog intensiever worden benut dankzij bijkomende rijmodi, voorselectie van de rijmodus, motorkoppelregeling en Dynamic Brake Control (DBC).

BMW F 900 GS met nieuwe, aanzienlijk lichtere plastic brandstoftank en achterzijde. Nieuwe, volledig verstelbare 'upside-down' telescopische vorken op de F 900 GS en F 900 GS Adventure.

De nieuwe F 900 GS, F 900 GS Adventure en F 800 GS staan op een brugframe gemaakt van diepgetrokken plaatstalen onderdelen die aan elkaar gelast zijn, waarin de 2-cilinder-in-lijn motor als steunelement geïntegreerd is. De 14,5 liter grote plastic brandstoftank van de nieuwe F 900 GS is een volledig nieuwe ontwikkeling die 4,5 kg lichter is dan de stalen tank van het vorige model. De F 900 GS heeft een volledig hertekende achterkant, waardoor hij nog dynamischer oogt en ongeveer 2,4 kg gewicht bespaart. Nog eens 1,7 kg werd bespaard dankzij de achterdemper van Akrapovič. Het voorwiel van de F 900 GS en F 900 GS Adventure wordt geleid door nieuwe, volledig verstelbare 'upside-down' telescopische vorken van Showa.

Nieuw Enduro Pro-pakket voor de nieuwe F 900 GS en Dynamic ESA voor de nieuwe F 900 GS Adventure en de F 800 GS verkrijgbaar als optie af fabriek.

De nieuwe F 900 GS kan nog meer terreincapaciteiten krijgen met het Enduro Pro-pakket, een optie af fabriek met volledig verstelbare 'upside-down' telescopische vorken met titaniumnitride-coating, een volledig verstelbare centrale veerpoot, stuurverhogers en een M Endurance-ketting. De elektronische ophanging Dynamic ESA (Electronic Suspension Adjustment) is als optie verkrijgbaar voor de nieuwe F 900 GS Adventure en de F 800 GS.

Nieuwe BMW F 900 GS met geoptimaliseerde ergonomie voor terreingebruik, enduro-voetsteunen en aluminium zijstandaard. Geoptimaliseerde instelbare versnellingshendel en, op de F 900 GS, ook een nieuwe voetremhendel.

De toegenomen terreinkwaliteiten van de nieuwe F 900 GS komen tot uiting in de ergonomische driehoek (stuur - zetel - voetsteunen), die geoptimaliseerd werd voor terreingebruik. De lagere voetsteunen in combinatie met de hogere stuurpositie en het nieuwe design van de brandstoftank bieden duidelijke voordelen, vooral bij rechtopstaand rijden op ruw terrein.

Alle drie de nieuwe modellen beschikken standaard al over een verstelbare versnellingshendel. In combinatie met een geoptimaliseerde lager en nieuwe kinematica van de versnellingshendel kon ook het schakelen van de zesversnellingsbak verder worden geoptimaliseerd. De F 900 GS heeft ook een nieuwe, hoger geplaatste voetremhendel.

Nieuwe LED-koplamp op de BMW F 900 GS. Alle modellen zijn voorzien van krachtige LED-lichtunits.

In vergelijking met het vorige model biedt de LED-koplamp van de nieuwe BMW F 900 GS een grotere openingshoek voor het dimlicht en dus een betere verlichting vlak voor de motor. De nieuwe F 900 GS Adventure en de F 800 GS zijn ook standaard voorzien van LED-koplampen. Bovendien maken de richtingaanwijzer en de controlelampjes van de drie modellen ook gebruik van LED-technologie.

Connectiviteit – ongeëvenaarde informatiediversiteit en functionaliteit in de vorm van een groot, perfect afleesbaar 6,5" TFT-scherm. De nieuwe BMW F 900 GS is standaard uitgerust met een multifunctionele houder voor navigatietoestellen, actiecamera's en meer.

De nieuwe GS-modellen van de F-reeks beschikken standaard al over een groot TFT-scherm van 6,5". Dat geldt met name voor de F 800 GS, die voordien een analoog scherm had. De informatiediversiteit, presentatiekwaliteit en, last but not least, gebruiksvriendelijkheid zijn ongeëvenaard. Bellen, naar muziek luisteren en navigeren tijdens het rijden kan zeer comfortabel. De nieuwe BMW F 900 GS is standaard al uitgerust met een houder van 12 mm, waarop actiecamera's of andere toestellen kunnen worden gemonteerd. Om de BMW Motorrad Connected Ride Navigator of de BMW Motorrad Connected Ride Cradle te installeren, is ook de optie 'navigatievoorbereiding' vereist.

BMW F 900 GS met nieuwe koetswerkafmetingen, een helder design en een kleurenschema dat zijn terreinkwaliteiten, sportiviteit en dynamische prestaties benadrukt.

De nieuwe BMW F 900 GS werd volledig hertekend en plukt de vruchten van een dynamisch design dat de terreinkwaliteiten en sportiviteit ten goede komt en het 14 kg lagere gewicht visueel in de verf zet. Een van de hoofdpunten van het nieuwe design is de hertekende plastic brandstoftank, die een veel slanker en ergonomisch gunstiger design mogelijk maakte met slechts 0,5 liter minder volume dan het vorige model. Nieuwe, nauw aansluitende zijpanelen voor de tank en een nieuwe radiatorbekleding geven de nieuwe F 900 GS een gestroomlijnde, sportieve en offroad-gerichte look. De terreinkwaliteiten, sportiviteit en dynamische prestaties komen ook tot uiting in de hele achterkant, die aanzienlijk smaller en dynamischer is dan bij het vorige model. De dynamische uitstraling van de nieuwe F 900 GS wordt nog verder verbeterd door de sportieve uitlaatdemper van Akrapovič.  De nieuwe F 900 GS is verkrijgbaar als basisversie in de metaalkleur Blackstorm, als Passion-versie in de niet-metaalkleur São Paulo Yellow en als GS Trophy-versie in de niet-metaalkleur Lightwhite/metaalkleur Racing Blue.

De nieuwe F 900 GS Adventure is verkrijgbaar als basisvariant in de metaalkleur Blackstorm en als Ride Pro-modelvariant in mat wit aluminium. A unique conversion performed by BMW Group vocational trainees in cooperation with the Concept Vehicle Construction and Model Technology divisions at the BMW Munich plant. The vehicle is based on the BMW X7, the most luxurious and latest member of the BMW X family. The one-off combines the drive technology of the 250 kW/340 hp BMW X7 xDrive40i (fuel consumption combined: 9.0 – 8.7 l/100 km [31.4 – 32.5 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 205 – 198 g/km) with the innovative vehicle concept of a five-seater luxury pick-up.
A handcrafted loading area boasting a sophisticated fine-polished wood finish, a height-adjustable two-level air suspension and numerous high-class equipment details make this BMW X7 Pick-up an ideal companion for the diverse day-to-day uses and more. A BMW F 850 GS – a powerful motorcycle from the adventure segment – on the loading area completes the conversion. Together they are able to reach even the remotest corners of the world.

Behind the passenger cabin providing five persons with a luxury ambience, the BMW X7 Pick-up offers a generous loading area. The length of the loading space varies from 140 cm (closed) to 200 cm (open). Thanks to the intelligent use of CFRP on roof components, rear doors and the rear lid, it was possible to further reduce weight by 200 kg vs. the production model, despite a 10 cm longer body. In interplay with the high-quality, handcrafted teakwood cladding of the loading area upgrade and the parapet elements, handgrips and trim strips made from SLS 3D pressure parts, it becomes clear just how much innovative strength, competence and technical precision the trainees already display. The combination of honey-coloured teakwood and the BMW Individual colour Tanzanite Blue metallic – an exclusive navy blue finish that develops extra depth when exposed to sunlight – was inspired by yachting sports and creates a sophisticated look.

From a concept to a vehicle in show car quality in just ten months.
In just ten months, the twelve trainees from the occupational sectors body and vehicle mechanics (m/f/x), vehicle mechatronics (m/f/x) and technical model construction (m/f/x) turned a concept into a fully functional, road-legal automobile in show car quality. In keeping with the BMW brand’s sustainability strategy, a vehicle returned from testing formed the cost-efficient basis of the concept, which the trainees consequently saved from being scrapped. The trainees were free to decide on conception and implementation, but had to forgo the additional expert assistance normally provided in concept car construction. The coherent final result gives the trainees even more reason to be proud of their practical training project. Their dream: to go for a spin in the BMW X7 Pick-up after its premiere or even take it for a trip to the mountains.

The BMW X7 Pick-up and the BMW F 850 GS – unbeatable as a duo.
On the loading area of the converted vehicle stands a BMW F 850 GS, which is ideally suited to the BMW Motorrad Days. With a combination of touring and long-distance capability, sporty dynamics and supreme off-road qualities, the BMW F 850 GS perfectly complements the qualities of the BMW X7 Pick-up. However, in everyday life, the BMW X7 pick-up and the BMW F 850 ​​GS are faithful companions: thanks to their excellent driving characteristics both on paved and unpaved roads, the journey is the destination.

The BMW X7 Pick-up is a one-off from BMW Group Vocational Training at the Munich location. Series implementation is not planned. Special projects such as this serve during training to convey and deploy the required capabilities in practice. Clear training contents with an occupational interest in each profession exist in such projects. The BMW Group currently trains almost 5,000 persons in nine countries worldwide.

Bornem. De GS modellen van de F Reeks vertegenwoordigen al sinds hun introductie in 2007 met verve het Enduro-middensegment. Als vanouds bieden de GS modellen uitstekende toercapaciteiten in combinatie met een sportief rijgedrag en uitstekende off-roadprestaties. In een notendop is de BMW GS de perfecte metgezel voor het per motorfiets ontdekken van afgelegen gebieden over de hele wereld. Na ongeveer tien jaar van continue ontwikkeling heeft BMW Motorrad de middenklassers van de GS modellen helemaal opnieuw ontworpen en ontwikkeld. Uiteraard geheel in lijn met het doel om de ultieme rijmachine te creëren waar de berijder altijd van op aankan; of de motorfiets nu gebruikt wordt voor sportief rijden op de weg, lange toerriten met bagage en passagier óf een avontuurlijke ontdekkingstocht in het terrein.

De nieuwe BMW F 750 GS en F 850 GS staan op 12 mei in de BMW Motorrad showrooms met consumentenprijzen van respectievelijk € 9.690 en € 12.150.

De nieuwe BMW F 750 GS en F 850 GS spreken nog meer dan voorheen hun respectievelijke klantengroep aan. De F 750 GS is ontworpen voor alle motorrijders die de sensatie en het conceptuele design van een reis-enduro prefereren in combinatie met een lagere zithoogte, kracht in overvloed, hoge kosteneffectiviteit en toonaangevende allround kwaliteiten. Compleet anders is de nieuwe F 850 GS die niet alleen meer vermogen en koppel levert, maar ook meer onderscheidende kenmerken heeft van een tourer in combinatie met uitstekende off-roadcapaciteiten.

Nieuwe, krachtige tweecilinder lijnmotor met twee contra-roterende balansassen en een ontstekingsinterval van 270 graden voor optimale soepelheid en aansprekend geluid.

Tijdens de ontwikkeling was het verhogen van vermogen en trekkracht het hoofddoel. Speciale aandacht werd ook gegeven aan het verminderen van het brandstofverbruik. In beide modellen gebruikt BMW Motorrad een 853 cc grote krachtbron. De tweecilinder levert in de nieuwe F 750 GS een vermogen van 57 kW (77 pk) bij 7.500 tpm. De nieuwe F 850 GS heeft een vermogen van 70 kW (95 pk) bij 8.250 tpm.

Een krukas waarvan beide kruktappen 90 graden zijn verdraaid ten opzichte van elkaar in combinatie met een 270 graden ontstekingsinterval geeft een krachtig geluid. Ongewenste vibraties worden in de nieuwe motor geabsorbeerd door twee contra-roterende balansassen. Een zelfversterkende, anti-schok-koppeling vereist een waarneembaar kleinere bedieningskracht van de handkoppeling, terwijl het motorremkoppel lager is waardoor de veiligheid op de weg verder verbetert. Schakelen gebeurt met een zestraps transmissie waarbij de secundaire aandrijving (door middel van een ketting) zich nu aan de linkerzijde bevindt.

Standaard aanwezige rijmodi ‘Road’ en ‘Rain’ plus ABS en ASC garanderen veel rijplezier en verbeterde veiligheid, rijmodus Pro is optioneel.

De nieuwe GS modellen bieden maximale controle voor alle berijders dankzij de rijmodi ‘Rain’ en ‘Road’, terwijl de combinatie van BMW Motorrad ABS met ASC automatische stabiliteitscontrole een hoog veiligheidsniveau garandeert.

De BMW F 750 GS en F 850 GS zijn af-fabriek leverbaar met optionele uitrusting, zoals de Rijmodi Pro, de extra rijmodi ‘Dynamic’, ‘Enduro’ en ‘Enduro Pro’ (de laatste drie zijn alleen beschikbaar op de BMW F 850 GS) evenals dynamische tractiecontrole (DTC) en ABS Pro wat veilig remmen in bochten mogelijk maakt.

Nieuwe stalen brugframe met monocoque-constructie, geoptimaliseerde wielophanginggeometrie en nieuwe positie van brandstoftank.

Het brugframe van de nieuwe GS modellen in de F Serie is gemaakt van aan elkaar gelaste, hoogwaardige componenten. Het frame integreert de tweecilindermotor als een ondersteunend element en biedt voordelen op het gebied van torsiestijfheid en robuustheid. De brandstoftank is geplaatst in de klassieke positie tussen het zadel en de stuurkolom, voor geoptimaliseerde opbergmogelijkheid en een verbetering van het zwaartepunt.

Scherper GS profiel dankzij gespierder design.

De BMW F 750 GS en BMW F 850 GS hebben een volledig nieuw uiterlijk en ogen dynamischer en gespierder. Als aanvulling op de basisversie zijn de nieuwe F modellen ook leverbaar in de stijlvarianten ‘Exclusive’ en ‘Rallye’. De tweede is exclusief voor de nieuwe BMW F 850 GS en benadrukt vooral de off-roadcapaciteiten.

De nieuwe GS modellen in de F Serie zijn verkrijgbaar met een uitgebreide reeks opties die uniek is voor de middenklasse. Van verschillende zithoogtes, windschermen en de nieuwe full LED-koplamp tot het optionele Connectivity met TFT-display of eCall; ze zijn stuk voor stuk uniek voor middenklasse reis enduro motorfietsen.
