Valencia. The finale at Valencia, Spain, marked the end of a special season for BMW M in MotoGP. 2018 was the 20th season for BMW M as “Official Car of MotoGP”. The BMW M Award for the fastest qualifier is an integral feature of decades of involvement at the top level of motorbike racing. Since 2003, this award has traditionally been handed over at the season finale. One man seems unbeatable in the race to claim the winner’s car: record holder Marc Márquez extended his winning run in the BMW M Award, claiming the sought-after prize for the sixth time running.

This year, Márquez was rewarded for his performances with the BMW M3 CS (combined fuel consumption: 8.5 l/100 km*; combined CO2 emissions: 198 g/km*). The official award ceremony took place on Saturday at the MotoGP finale at Valencia. The car for this year’s winner was handed over to Márquez by Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of MotoGP organiser Dorna Sports, and Markus Flasch, President of BMW M GmbH.

Márquez has already made history several times with the BMW M Award. He won it for the first time in 2013, becoming the first rookie to top the special ranking. In 2015, the Spaniard became the first rider to win the BMW M Award for three consecutive years. He became the exclusive record holder in 2016 with his fourth straight victory. In the current 2018 season, Márquez won the BMW M Award with a total of 341 points, 73 points ahead of his closest challenger Andrea Dovizioso.

By choosing the BMW M3 CS as the BMW M Award winner’s car, BMW M GmbH has provided a real highlight in the anniversary season. It is the most powerful production car from the M3 series to date. It takes just 3.9 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h. Its powerful M TwinPower turbo inline-six-cylinder engine delivers a performance of 460 hp and a torque of 600 Nm. A 7-speed M dual clutch transmission with Drivelogic takes care of the power transmission in the BMW M Award winner’s car. The adaptive M suspension in the BMW M3 CS guarantees the highest dynamic handling right up to the limit. The sporty appearance of the car is highlighted by the paintwork in Frozen Dark Blue, the 19-inch light alloy double-spoke wheels, the full leather, fine-grain Merino bi-colour upholstery, as well as further fittings highlights such as the M steering wheel in Alcantara.

As with the scoring system for the race, the riders receive points for their positions in qualifying at each Grand Prix weekend. The rider who has picked up the most points at the end of the season wins the coveted BMW M Award, in the form of an exclusive BMW M automobile. The record holder is Marc Márquez, who has now claimed the BMW M Award six times in a row. Valentino Rossi and Casey Stoner each have three wins to their name. Jorge Lorenzo has been honoured as the best qualifier twice to date while Sete Gibernau and Nicky Hayden have each won the award once.

The figures refer to a vehicle with basic configuration in Germany. De nieuwe BMW M3 CS.

BMW M GmbH presenteert naast de M4 GTS en M4 CS nog een exclusief, gelimiteerd model in de vorm van de nieuwe BMW M3 CS (gecombineerd brandstofverbruik: 8,3 l / 100 km [34.0 mpg imp] *; gecombineerde CO2-uitstoot: 194 g / km * ). Het model zet de decennialange traditie voort van succesvolle, speciale M edities die in 1988 begon met de E30 BMW M3 Evolution. Tegelijkertijd biedt de krachtige vierdeurs sedan een sublieme mix van dynamiek en dagelijkse bruikbaarheid. De consumentenprijs bedraagt €117.650.

Highlights van de nieuwe BMW M3 CS

De nieuwe BMW M3 CS is een speciale uitvoering van BMW M GmbH die vanaf maart 2018 in een oplage van circa 1.200 exemplaren wordt geproduceerd.

De nieuwe BMW M3 CS is voorzien van de zescilinder-in-lijn benzinemotor met
BMW M TwinPower Turbo techniek die zijn potentieel al in de huidige BMW M3 heeft bewezen. De motor is standaard gekoppeld aan de BMW M Double Clutch Transmission (M DCT) met zeven versnellingen en voorzien van een speciaal voor de CS ontwikkeld sportuitlaatsysteem.

Het vermogen van de motor in de BMW M3 CS bedraagt 338 kW (460 pk), ofwel 7 kW (10 pk) meer dan dat van de BMW M3 met Competition Pack. Het maximumkoppel komt uit op 600 Nm, een toename van 50 Nm.

De BMW M3 CS accelereert in slechts 3,9 seconden vanuit stilstand naar 100 km/u. De topsnelheid is elektronisch begrensd op 280 km/u.

De motorkap, het dak, de splitter onder de voorzijde, de rand van de achterspoiler en de diffuser onder de achterzijde van de nieuwe BMW M3 CS zijn vervaardigd uit met koolstofvezel versterkt kunststof (CFRP), in de volksmond ook wel ‘carbon’ genoemd. De gewichtsbesparing ten opzichte van de BMW M3 bedraagt tien kilogram.

De nieuwe BMW M3 CS is standaard uitgerust met M compound remmen. De voorste remklauwen zijn elk voorzien van vier zuigers, de achterste van twee zuigers. De M3 CS beschikt over 9 J x 19 inch lichtmetalen wielen op de vooras en 20 J x 20 inch exemplaren op de achteras in DTM-design in de kleur Orbit Grey Matt. Ook op de wielen is lichtgewicht technologie toegepast; de voorste wegen per stuk rond de negen en de achterste rond de tien kilogram.

Het interieur van de BMW M3 CS valt op door de verfijnde combinatie van Alcantara en lederen bekleding in de kleurencombinatie Silverstone/zwart. Eveneens opvallend is de 1-zone airconditioning wat ook enkele kilogrammen gewicht spaart ten opzichte van de BMW M3.

De nieuwe BMW M3 CS is vanaf januari 2018 te bestellen.

Vanaf november 2017 zullen de CFRP aandrijfassen in de high-performance sportwagens BMW M3 Berline, BMW M4 Coupé en de BMW M4 Cabrio (gecombineerd brandstofverbruik: 9,5 – 8,3l/100 km. CO2-emissie gecombineerd: 218 – 194 g/km) geleidelijk aan worden vervangen door M specifieke high-performance aandrijfassen gemaakt van staal.

Munich. From November 2017 onwards, the CFRP driveshaft in the BMW M3 Sedan, BMW M4 Coupe and BMW M4 Convertible high-performance sports cars (fuel consumption combined: 9.5 – 8.3 l/100 km [29.7 – 34.0 mpg imp], CO2 emissions combined: 218 –194 g/km) will be gradually replaced by an M specific high-performance driveshaft made of steel. This measure will create the necessary technical basis for meeting future statutory emissions requirements. At a later point in time, a petrol particulate filter (PPF) will be incorporated into the existing installation space in these models in major markets.

The newly developed steel driveshaft has been designed to ensure the superlative performance and handling qualities of the BMW M3/M4 high-performance sports cars remain unaffected.

For production-related reasons, this pre-enabling needs to be carried out universally for the BMW M3 Sedan, BMW M4 Coupe and BMW M4 Convertible. This measure does not apply to the BMW M4 CS and BMW M4 GTS special-edition models.

Now in their fifth generation, the BMW M3 Sedan, BMW M4 Coupe and BMW M4 Convertible represent the epitome of the high-performance sports car that can be used without compromise every day. Customer deliveries of the successful current generation of models have now topped 68,000.

AVUS en TELESTO: exclusieve, gelimiteerde edities van de BMW M3 Berline en M4 Coupé.

BMW Belux stelt twee exclusieve, gelimiteerde edities voor van de succesvolle BMW M3 Berline en M4 Coupé. Deze wagens werden volledig afgestemd op de Belgische en Luxemburgse markt. Onder de noemer ‘BMW M Special Series’ bieden deze wagens een geslaagde combinatie van BMW Individual Special Request mogelijkheden, af fabriek opties en BMW M Performance accessoires.

Grigio Telesto en Avusblau.

Twee markante BMW Individual Special Request koetswerkkleuren, Grigio Telesto en Avusblau, vormen de basis en ontlenen dan ook passend hun naam aan deze twee exclusieve edities: TELESTO en AVUS. De BMW M4 TELESTO maakte reeds een eerste publieke verschijning op het Brusselse Autosalon in januari ll.

Exclusief en opvallend.

“De ontwikkeling van een speciale editie, gebruik makend van deze subtiele mix van uitrustingen, beantwoordt aan de vraag van onze klanten en prospecten die op zoek zijn naar een exclusieve én opvallende wagen. Onze meest iconische modellen uit het BMW M gamma, de BMW M3 Berline en de M4 Coupé, zijn dan ook de geknipte kandidaten voor een eerste gelimiteerde reeks in deze BMW M Special Series”, aldus Christophe Weerts, woordvoerder BMW Group.

Gelimiteerde edities.

Gezien het bijzondere karakter van de BMW M Special Series worden er zowel van de BMW M3 Berline en M4 Coupé TELESTO slechts 20 eenheden op de markt gebracht. Van de BMW M4 Coupé AVUS zullen er 10 exemplaren worden gemaakt. In totaal zullen er dus slechts 50 exemplaren van deze specifieke limited edition ‘BMW M Special Series’ op de markt komen.

Als basisuitvoering werd gekozen voor de BMW M3 en BMW M4 met Competition Pack (450pk). Deze specifieke, gelimiteerde oplage wordt op het dashboard extra benadrukt door een expliciete gravure ‘1/20’ of ‘1/10’ in de decoratieve lijsten vervaardigd uit Carbon Fibre. Naast de BMW Individual Special Request kleur en gepersonaliseerde inleglijsten zal er ook onder meer contrasterende stitching voorzien worden, met name Silverstone in de TELESTO en blauwe stitching in de AVUS. De wagens zijn vanaf nu beschikbaar bij de BMW M concessiehouders.

Met vier gewonnen awards op de ‘Engine of the Year Awards’ 2015 toont BMW Group volop zijn kennis en kunde op het gebied van motoren. De motor van de BMW i8 heeft gewonnen in twee verschillende categorieën en sleepte daar bovenop ook de hoofdprijs in de wacht. Daar bovenop won ook de motor van de BMW M3 en BMW M4 in zijn klasse. Met de lancering van de nieuwe BMW M3 Berline en de nieuwe BMW M4 Coupé onthult BMW M GmbH een nieuwe interpretatie van de high-performance-sportwagen en trekt zo de BMW M filosofie door naar de vijfde generatie van de M3. Van de vierde generatie van de BMW M3 Coupé werden ruim 40.000 wagens gebouwd en nu staat de BMW M4 Coupé in de startblokken om dit succesverhaal voort te zetten.
