BMW is making further advances in its push to boost the driving pleasure and efficiency of its current model range with the introduction of state-of-the-art mild-hybrid technology in autumn 2019. Fitting a 48V starter-generator in the BMW 5 Series for the first time has the additional benefit of increasing power output and reducing fuel consumption and emissions. Meanwhile, the BMW 330e Sedan (fuel consumption combined: 1.9 – 1.6 l/100 km [148.7 – 176.6 mpg imp]; electric power consumption combined: 15.4 – 14.8 kWh/100 km; CO₂ emissions combined: 43 – 37 g/km), BMW 530e Sedan (fuel consumption combined: 1.8 – 1.6 l/100 km [156.9 – 176.6 mpg imp]; electric power consumption combined: 14.5 – 13.6 kWh/100 km; CO₂ emissions combined: 41 – 36 g/km) and BMW 530e xDrive Sedan (fuel consumption combined: 2.2 – 2.0 l/100 km [128.4 – 141.2 mpg imp]; electric power consumption combined: 15.4 – 14.1 kWh/100 km; CO₂ emissions combined: 49 – 46 g/km) plug-in hybrid models will offer even greater versatility and everyday practicality from November 2019 when a trailer coupling joins the options list.

New optional extras designed to further enhance sporting prowess and driving comfort will also be made available for numerous other models from autumn 2019. Some of the most tempting additions to the options lists include the M Performance package for the BMW M135i xDrive (fuel consumption combined: 7.1 – 6.8 l/100 km [39.8 – 41.5 mpg imp]; CO₂ emissions combined: 162 – 155 g/km), BMW Laserlight for the BMW 5 Series and the M Carbon roof for the new BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe. Finally, new exterior and interior options open up a wealth of possibilities for individualising the new BMW X5, new BMW X6 and new BMW X7.

BMW 5 Series: mild-hybrid technology for extra sprinting power and efficiency.

In autumn 2019, BMW will present another element in its powertrain electrification strategy to accompany the ongoing expansion of its plug-in hybrid line-up. Mild-hybrid technology will make its debut in the BMW 5 Series, where it will help to both lighten the combustion engine’s workload and boost its power, meaning not just superior efficiency but sharper performance. Fitting an extremely powerful 48V starter-generator and a second battery significantly enhances the functionality of Brake Energy Regeneration by enabling the energy recuperated when braking or on the overrun to be harnessed not just for powering electrical vehicle functions, but for generating additional drive power. For this, the 48V starter-generator acts likes an electric drive unit that assists the engine, allowing the latter to operate within an efficiency-optimised load range as frequently as possible. An electric overboost function, meanwhile, injects an extra dose of dynamism when accelerating under full throttle.

The 48V starter-generator has the additional benefit of allowing the engine to be switched off with remarkably little vibration and restarted more smoothly when using the Auto Start Stop function. This also makes it possible to completely shut off the engine in coasting mode, rather than just disconnecting it from the drivetrain. As of November 2019, mild-hybrid technology will be fitted as standard on the BMW 520d Sedan (fuel consumption combined: 4.1 – 4.3 l/100 km; CO₂ emissions combined: 108 –112 g/km), BMW 520d xDrive Sedan (fuel consumption combined: 4.5 – 4.7 l/100 km; CO₂ emissions combined: 117 – 123 g/km), BMW 520d Touring (fuel consumption combined: 4.3 – 4.5 l/100 km; CO₂ emissions combined: 114 – 118 g/km) and BMW 520d xDrive Touring (fuel consumption combined: 4.7 – 4.9 l/100 km; CO₂ emissions combined: 124 – 128 g/km). The fuel consumption figures of the 140 kW/190 hp four-cylinder diesel engine that powers this quartet of models will be cut by up to 0.3 litres per 100 kilometres as a result.

The enhancements to the BMW 5 Series range also include the introduction of BMW Laserlight on further model variants. This lighting technology – which increases high-beam range to a maximum 650 metres – will be added to the wealth of innovations aboard both the BMW M550d xDrive Sedan and BMW M550d xDrive Touring from November 2019.

BMW 3 Series and BMW 5 Series plug-in hybrid models now also available with a trailer coupling.

The hallmark sporting flair of BMW cars, outstanding efficiency and the option of driving with zero local emissions highlight the progressive character of the plug-in hybrid BMW 3 Series and 5 Series models. The BMW 330e Sedan, BMW 530e Sedan and BMW 530e xDrive Sedan can also be ordered with almost the complete range of optional extras available for the conventionally powered model variants, allowing driving pleasure and comfort to be tailored to individual requirements. A trailer coupling with an electrically pivoting hitch ball will be added to the list of options in November 2019, further enhancing the plug-in hybrid models’ practical value in everyday driving. These three models will have a maximum trailer load of 750 kilograms.

BMW 1 Series: M Performance package for the BMW M135i xDrive.

Model-specific design features showcase the performance capabilities of the new BMW M135i xDrive even in its standard guise. But now customers will be able to lend the 225 kW/306 hp range-topper’s standout sporting credentials even greater visual impact by opting for the new M Performance package. Available from November 2019, its special 18‑inch M light-alloy wheels in Y-spoke design and the deletion of the storage package reduce vehicle weight by around ten kilograms. This results in a 0.1-second improvement in the car’s 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) time, to 4.7 seconds. Added to which, the new M Performance package for the BMW 135i xDrive brings exterior mirror caps and exhaust tailpipes in a Black painted finish and a mesh-design BMW kidney grille in High-gloss Black with a surround painted in the same colour.

BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe: M Carbon roof shaves off extra weight.

The new BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe brings genuine sports car feel to the occupants of its four full-size seats. The M Carbon exterior package available since launch already accents the car’s dynamic verve with some precise touches. And from November 2019, the choice of optional extras for the four-door luxury sports car will expand to include an M Carbon roof, which will be available as an individual item for the BMW M850i xDrive Gran Coupe and in conjunction with the M Sport package for the other model variants. As well as creating a look clearly inspired by racing cars, the M Carbon roof brings about a further reduction in weight. Interior trim strips in Carbon Fibre can also be ordered as an optional extra for the BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe for the first time.

BMW X5, BMW X6, BMW X7: new customisation options.

The appearance, interior ambience and comfort levels of the BMW X5, BMW X6 and BMW X7 can now be attuned even more precisely to personal preferences thanks to a number of new equipment options. M multifunction front seats are just one of the optional features due to become available for the executive- and luxury-class BMW X models from December 2019. Quite apart from their outstanding comfort, the seats also offer a wide range of adjustment options, all operated electrically. They can also be upgraded by the addition of massage and ventilation functions for even greater comfort on long journeys.

Customers seeking the ultimate in exclusivity can look forward to the BMW Individual Composition, which will be offered for the new BMW X5, new BMW X6 and new BMW X7 from December 2019. This equipment package comprises a selection of highly exclusive options for the exterior and interior boasting exceptional material quality and workmanship. 22-inch BMW Individual light-alloy wheels and a BMW Individual paint finish ensure the BMW X models cut a stylish figure. Inside, BMW Individual Merino full leather trim, a BMW Individual headliner in Alcantara and BMW Individual interior trim strips in Piano Finish Black create a sense of high luxury. 

The options list for the new BMW X6 also now includes a load compartment package comprising sliding rails, non-slip rails and retaining nets. Interior trim strips in Ash Grain Brown or Fineline Stripe and Vernasca design-perforated leather trim in Ivory White add to the choice of customisation options for the cabin. Paint finishes in Sapphire Black metallic and Sophisto Grey brilliant effect metallic and the BMW Individual paint finishes Tanzanite Blue metallic and Ametrine metallic have now been added to the colour palette for customers wishing to give the Sports Activity Coupe’s exterior a particularly striking look. An M Carbon rear spoiler and M Carbon mirror caps can also be specified to bring the car’s sporting genes even further to the fore.

The Adaptive M suspension Professional optionally available for the new BMW X5 gives it far greater poise in dynamic driving situations. This optional extra, comprising active roll stabilisation, the M Sport differential and Integral Active Steering, will also be available for the BMW X5 xDrive40i and BMW X5 xDrive30d from December 2019. The functionality of the Driving Assistant Professional will be enhanced in the new BMW X5 and new BMW X6 with the addition of the new Lane Change Assistant, which aids the driver with automated steering movements during overtaking manoeuvres.

Driving Assistant Professional brings real-time 3D visualisation of the surrounding area to the instrument cluster.

The Driving Assistant Professional offers drivers an extremely wide range of assistance in monotonous and complex traffic situations. Its range of functions now includes 3D visualisation of the area around the car, which has been available in all models equipped with BMW Live Cockpit Professional since July 2019. The system uses the data supplied by the driver assistance systems’ cameras and sensors to generate a real-time three-dimensional graphic image of the vehicle’s surroundings. The image appears in the centre of the instrument cluster and helps to give the driver a clearer overview of what is happening on the road, especially when driving on multi-lane highways. This means the driver can also register the position of other road users driving in front of or alongside them when they glance down at the speedometer or rev counter.

BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant with separate iDrive menu and individual configurability.

The BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant enjoys additional functionality gains. Since July 2019 users have been able to access all the relevant settings via a separate menu in the BMW Operating System 7.0. This means the driver can adjust the functioning of the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant according to the driving situation at hand. For example, the intelligent and proactive functions can be switched on and off, and notifications and phone calls can be anonymised if passengers are on board.

With its modern suspension, innovative technologies and powerful engines, the new BMW 1 Series (fuel consumption combined: 7.1 – 3.8 l/100 km [39.8 – 74.3 mpg imp]; CO₂ emissions combined: 162 – 100 g/km*) sets a new benchmark in the premium compact class in terms of driving dynamics. As such, the distinctive character and outstanding agility of the third engine generation ensures an unmistakable sporty driving experience ex works. However, this can be intensified even further: as soon after the market launch of the new BMW 1 Series, an extensive range of exclusive M Performance Parts is available that allow the car’s sporty appearance and dynamic potential to be given an additional boost. As is customary for BMW, all components are harmonised with each other and with the specific character of the new model. In addition to enhancing the car’s sporty, dynamic appearance on the exterior in particular, the parts also meet functional requirements in terms of lightweight construction and aerodynamics. This is not least due to the extensive racing expertise contributed by BMW M GmbH to the development of the M Performance components.

Sporty lightness: aerodynamic and exterior components.
Various lightweight construction parts in a new carbon fibre look and components in high-gloss black underscore the car’s sporty appearance while at the same time highlighting the lines of the body. What is more, the M Performance front splitter, the horizontal-flow rear spoiler and the aero flicks in high-gloss black optimise aerodynamics, thereby enhancing the talents of the compact 5-door model in the area of driving dynamics. The same applies to the high-gloss black side sill insert and the rear diffuser in lightweight carbon fibre. All M Performance components were developed especially for the new BMW 1 Series and perfectly harmonised in the wind tunnel. The high-quality carbon fibre components are crafted elaborately by hand before being sealed with a clear finish and given a high-gloss polish. This also applies to the M Performance exterior mirror caps, whose high-tech character provides an attractive eye-catcher. BMW M Performance Parts also offers the new M kidney grille with mesh design as a retrofitting solution.

Highlights the proportions: lettering in Frozen Black.
In addition, the range of M Performance Parts also includes options to further refine the car's sporty exterior design. The side lettering in Frozen Black highlights the model's new proportions, for example, adding an attractive accentuation to the body. The decor set with striking colouring and M Performance inscription goes perfectly with the other mounted parts, individually highlighting the car’s sporty character. As a supplement to this, the vehicle front can be refined with lettering in high-gloss black.

For powerful deceleration: 18-inch M Performance sports brake.
In keeping with its increased driving dynamics, the new BMW 1 Series can also be fitted with an 18-inch M Performance sports brake system, whose striking characteristics are enhanced deceleration performance and increased thermal resilience – even in extreme conditions. The brake’s attractive appearance with calipers finished in red provides a perfect match for the car’s sporty design style; this is showcased especially effectively in combination with an open wheel design. As compared to the standard brake system, the front axle has larger inner-vented, perforated discs in lightweight design which are powerfully gripped by 4-piston fixed calipers. The amply sized calipers are made of a aluminium alloy so as to save weight. The rear axle features matching lightweight construction brake discs with single-piston floating caliper.

All-round perfection: sporty complete wheel sets in 18 and 19 inches.
Matching the sports brake, BMW offers the high-quality M Performance forged wheel Y-Spoke 554M in an 18-inch format. This weight-optimised summerwheel in Jet Black matt features a multicoloured graphic print that perfectly showcases the M Performance inscription and M logo. The light alloy wheel Y-Spoke 711M in Ferric Grey is likewise available in an 18-inch format. This winter wheel is suitable for use with snow chains and can also be combined with the M Performance sports brake. The range also includes the 19-inch M Performance light alloy wheel Double Spoke 555M in bicolour look, which is available as a complete wheel set for use in summer.

The M Performance wheel bags are recommended as a practical solution for storing and transporting these high-quality wheels. They protect the driver and vehicle from soiling and are convenient for loading due to their reinforced handles. Markings ensure rapid wheel allocation, while the attractive M Performance design creates a racing atmosphere even in the garage at home.

Sporty flair directly on entry: LED door projectors with M Performance motifs.
The BMW door projectors provide a sporty welcome even when the doors are opened. With the three different motives included in the M Performance slide set it is possible to have the BMW M logo or other graphics projected onto the ground next to the vehicle. The lighting not only ensures comfort and safety when entering and exiting the vehicle, it also creates a very exclusive, distinctive atmosphere. The sporty motifs are clearly perceptible, even at dusk.

Pure racing feeling: sporty highlights in the cockpit.
Distinctive touches of sporty enhancement are also available for the interior of the new BMW 1 Series. The M Performance steering wheel with distinctive Alcantara grip area and large thumbrest offers genuine racing feeling, for example. In addition to the steering wheel's pleasant touch combined with an excellent grip, visual accentuations are provided by the red marking at the 12 o’clock position and the silver-grey hand-sewn cross-stitching. The steering wheel’s sporty high-tech character can be further enhanced with the M Performance steering wheel trim, for which there is a choice between carbon fibre/Alcantara and carbon fibre/leather. In both cases, the 6 o’clock detail bears the M Performance inscription. There is an additional option for vehicles with Steptronic sports transmission: high-quality M Performance carbon fibre shift paddles can be selected to further enhance the motor racing atmosphere in the cockpit.

Finally, another attractive supplement for vehicles with sporty M Performance fittings is provided by the high-quality velvet velour floor mats with embroidered M Performance inscription, a leather-look surround complete with contrasting seam and a pennant in the typical M colours blue, light blue and red. Dankzij moderne voertuigarchitectuur biedt de BMW 1 Reeks – van de vorige generaties zijn inmiddels al meer dan 1,3 miljoen exemplaren geproduceerd – in zijn derde generatie duidelijk meer interieurruimte bij bijna gelijke buitenafmetingen. Van die extra ruimte profiteren met name de achterpassagiers, terwijl ook de bagageruimte is gegroeid. De nieuwe BMW 1 Reeks is er louter als vijfdeurs. Hij is met een lengte van 4.319 mm precies 5 mm korter dan zijn voorganger. De breedte is met 34 mm toegenomen tot 1.799 mm en de hoogte met 13 mm tot 1.434 mm. De wielbasis bedraagt nu 2.670 mm – 20 mm minder dan de vorige generatie.

Nieuw gezicht, grotere BMW nierengrille.

De nieuwe BMW 1 Reeks heeft letterlijk een nieuw gezicht: de karakteristieke BMW nierengrille is groter en nadrukkelijker aanwezig en voor het eerst zijn ook in dit model beide helften ervan in het midden met elkaar verbonden. Het sportieve topmodel, de BMW M135i xDrive (verbruik gecombineerd: 6,8-7,1 l/100 km; CO2-emissie gecombineerd: 155-162 g/km) is voorzien van een markant, op de autosport geïnspireerd, driedimensionaal geweven rooster in de nierengrille, in plaats van de klassieke verticale spijlen. De koplampen zijn schuin geplaatst en geven de nieuwe BMW 1 Reeks een frisse, jeugdige uitstraling. De optioneel te bestellen full-LED-koplampen – desgewenst in een adaptieve uitvoering – ogen bijzonder modern.

Geprononceerde grille en duidelijke wigvorm.

Van opzij gezien heeft de nieuwe BMW 1 Reeks een voor het merk kenmerkende, geprononceerde grille, een duidelijke wigvorm, lage zijruiten en een C-stijl met de voor BMW typerende Hofmeister-knik. Spaarzame, heldere lijnen en verfijnde oppervlakken geven de nieuwe BMW 1 Reeks een atletische uitstraling. De achterzijde oogt solide dankzij de brede taille en de schuine plaatsing van de achterste dakstijlen. De markante schouderpartij geeft de auto een stabiel aanzien. De brede, tweedelige achterlichten versterken de stabiele en solide uitstraling en ogen door hun ranke en ongekunstelde vormgeving zeer modern. De optioneel te bestellen full-LED-achterlichten vallen op door een boogvorm aan de zijkant van het vlakke deel. Het is een nieuwe interpretatie van de zogenoemde L-optiek. De opvallend vormgegeven eindpijpen van het uitlaatsysteem hebben een diameter van 90 mm (zelfs 100 mm en schuin naar onder afgesneden voor de BMW M135i xDrive) completeren het sportieve uiterlijk. BMW biedt voor de nieuwe BMW 1 Reeks keuze uit talrijke nieuwe lichtmetalen wielen, in maten vanaf 16 inch, en als optie voor het eerst ook wielen van zelfs 19 inch.

Panoramadak en van achter verlichte interieurlijsten.

Het elektrisch te bedienen panoramadak, dat voor het eerst een optie is voor de BMW 1 Reeks, laat meer licht toe in het interieur. Dat geeft ook een ruimtelijk gevoel. Het interieur is afgewerkt met hoogwaardige materialen en innovatieve details. Zoals de voor het eerst bij BMW te bestellen optionele interieurlijsten die van achter verlicht zijn. Ze zijn er in drie designs en voor de achtergrondverlichting is te kiezen uit zes kleuren. Slim gegroepeerde bedieningselementen van bijvoorbeeld de verwarming en de klimaatregeling of voor de diverse rijfuncties verhogen bedieningsgemak, zorgen voor meer functionele bergruimte en bieden extra comfort – zoals het vak vóór de versnellingshendel, dat optioneel is in combinatie met Wireless Charging voor smartphones.

Twee displays in de BMW Live Cockpit Professional – elk met een schermmaat van 10,25 inch – bieden toegang tot het optionele infotainmentaanbod van het nieuwe BMW Operating System 7.0. De vormen van de schermen weerspiegelen het nieuwe design van de BMW nierengrille. Het centrale Control Display is zoals gebruikelijk in een BMW op de bestuurder gericht en optimaal in zijn blikveld geplaatst. Met de 9,2 inch grote fullcolour BMW Head-Up Display, die voor het eerst optioneel in de BMW 1 Reeks beschikbaar is, kan de bestuurder alle informatie op het scherm zien zonder dat hij zijn blik van de weg hoeft af te wenden.

Meer interieurruimte.

In de nieuwe BMW 1 Reeks hebben de inzittenden aanmerkelijk meer ruimte dan in zijn voorganger, vooral achterin. De instap is daardoor gemakkelijker en de knieruimte achterin is met 33 mm gegroeid. De hoofdruimte achterin is – indien het panorama-schuifdak aanwezig is – met 19 mm toegenomen. Daarnaast hebben de achterpassagiers 13 mm meer ruimte op ellebooghoogte, terwijl de inzittenden voorin maar liefst 42 mm meer elleboogruimte hebben.

De bagageruimte meet nu 380 liter, 20 liter meer dan voorheen. Met de achterbankleuning omgeklapt bedraagt de ruimte zelfs 1.200 liter. Bovendien is de minimale breedte van de bagageruimte toegenomen met 67 mm. En voor het eerst is de BMW 1 Reeks ook te bestellen met elektrische bediening van de bagageklep.

Drie uitrustingslijnen en een topmodel.

De nieuwe BMW 1 Reeks is in drie uitrustingslijnen te bestellen, die zich zowel uiterlijk als met het interieur van elkaar onderscheiden. In het Model Luxury Line ligt de nadruk vooral op verfijning en comfort, met carrosseriedelen in Aluminium satiniert en interieurbekleding in Leder ‘Dakota’.

Het Model Sport Line is voorzien van accenten in Schwarz, raamlijsten in BMW Individual Hochglanz Shadowline en sportstoelen. Het Model M Sport is voorzien van accenten in Aluminium satiniert, een voorspoiler en een onderbumper met specifiek gevormde luchtinlaten en een BMW M achterbumperinzet in hoogglanzend Schwarz.

Het topmodel is de BMW M135i xDrive. Die is voorzien van onder meer het driedimensionaal geweven rooster in de BMW nierengrille, afgeschuinde eindstukken van het uitlaatsysteem in de kleur Cerium Grey en de BMW M achterspoiler in de kleur van de carrosserie.

Moderne architectuur met voorwielaandrijving en innovatieve aandrijftechniek.

De derde generatie van de BMW 1 Reeks is voor het eerst gebaseerd op de moderne voertuigarchitectuur van BMW met voorwielaandrijving. Daarmee combineert de auto een rijdynamiek die in zijn segment de nieuwe norm is met aanmerkelijk meer interieurruimte. Met toepassing van alle kennis en ervaring die BMW Group heeft opgedaan met voorwielaangedreven auto’s en de technologieoverdracht van BMW i naar BMW is de nieuwe BMW 1 Reeks na een ontwikkelingstijd van vijf jaar een echte BMW met een sterk eigen karakter.

Alle modelversies zowel met voorwielaandrijving als met de intelligente vierwielaandrijving blinken uit door een grotere wendbaarheid dan zijn voorganger. De snelle en precieze reacties op de stuurinput zorgen voor een nog betere rijervaring.

Een belangrijke factor daarbij is de uit de BMW i3s (stroomverbruik gecombineerd: 14,0-14,6 kWh/100 km, CO2-emissie gecombineerd: 0 g/km) bekende ARB-technologie. Die onderdrukt het doorslippen van de voorwielen, zodat een nog preciezere en snellere tractiecontrole mogelijk is. De technologie wordt nu voor het eerst toegepast in een auto met verbrandingsmotor. Bij de gebruikelijke ARB-technologie is de doorslipregeling in het motormanagement geïntegreerd in plaats van in de Dynamische Stabiliteits Controle (DSC), zoals in het systeem van BMW. Door de kortere lijnen in de regelelektronica wordt de informatie drie keer zo snel doorgegeven en verwerkt. Voor de bestuurder voelt het alsof het systeem tot wel tien keer sneller reageert.

In de nauwe samenwerking met de DSC reduceert ARB voelbaar de neiging tot onderstuur bij accelereren. De ARB-technologie wordt ondersteund door het eveneens standaard aanwezige BMW Performance Control, dat onder- en overstuur reguleert. Al voordat de limiet wordt bereikt, doet het systeem gerichte, subtiele remingrepen op de wielen aan de binnenzijde van de bocht en zorgt zo voor een neutraal bochtengedrag.

Behalve met het toch al dynamische, op de individuele motorisering afgestemde standaard onderstel en het M Sport onderstel dat 10 mm is verlaagd, is de nieuwe BMW 1 Reeks optioneel ook leverbaar met het onderstel met adaptieve VDC (Variable Damper Control). De bestuurder kan dan kiezen uit twee dempingskarakteristieken – Comfort en Sport. Elke motorvariant van de nieuwe BMW 1 Reeks is voorzien van de multilink-achterwielophanging.

Twee modellen met intelligente vierwielaandrijving BMW xDrive.

De ARB-technologie en BMW Performance Control behoren ook in de BMW 120d xDrive (verbruik gecombineerd: 4,5-4,7 l/100 km; CO2-emissie gecombineerd: 117-124 g/km) en de BMW M135i xDrive tot de standaarduitrusting. Beide zijn standaard uitgerust met de intelligente vierwielaandrijving BMW xDrive. De BMW M135i xDrive is verder standaard voorzien van een nieuw ontwikkeld mechanisch Torsen-differentieelsper op de vooras en geeft de auto een nog sportiever karakter.

De differentieelsper is geïntegreerd in de standaard 8-traps Steptronic Sport transmissie met Launch Control, die al in de eerste en tweede versnelling optimaal het maximumkoppel van 450 Nm aan het wegdek overbrengt. De nog directer reagerende M Sport Steering van de BMW M135i xDrive doet nog een schepje bovenop de superieure wegligging en het bochtengedrag. De M Sport remmen zorgen te allen tijde voor betrouwbaar, krachtig remvermogen. M Sport Steering en M Sport remmen zijn optioneel ook voor andere modelversies van de nieuwe BMW 1 Reeks te bestellen.

Drie dieselmotoren en twee benzinemotoren bij introductie.

Voor de nieuwe BMW 1 Reeks biedt BMW keuze uit 3- en 4-cilinder-in-lijnmotoren van de nieuwste generatie van de BMW EfficientDynamics motorenfamilie. Die zijn dankzij veel kleine verbeteringen zuiniger, schoner en voor een deel sterker dan hun voorgangers.

Bij de introductie zijn drie dieselmotoren en twee benzinemotoren met vermogens van 85 kW (116 pk) in de BMW 116d (verbruik gecombineerd: 3,8-4,2 l/100 km; CO2-emissie gecombineerd: 100-110 g/km) tot 225 kW (306 pk) in de BMW M135i xDrive leverbaar. Dit model heeft de sterkste 4-cilinder-in-lijn benzinemotor van de BMW Group. De BMW M135i xDrive sprint van 0 naar 100 km/h in slechts 4,8 seconden (4,7 met M Performance Pack, te bestellen vanaf november 2019), de topsnelheid ligt op 250 km/h (begrensd). Ondanks deze indrukwekkende prestaties heeft dit model genoeg aan 6,8-7,1 l/100 km brandstof, bij een CO2-emissie van slechts 155-162 g/km.

De motoren van de BMW 1 Reeks voldoen aan de strenge emissienorm Euro 6d-TEMP, maar de BMW 116d voldoet zelfs al aan de nog strengere Euro 6d-norm. De benzinemotoren zijn voorzien van een roetfilter en de dieselmotoren van een dieselpartikelfilter, een NOx-reductiekatalysator en een SCR-systeem (Selective Catalytic Reduction).

Voor het eerst keuze uit drie aandrijftechnologieën.

De BMW 116d, BMW 118d en BMW 118i zijn standaard voorzien van de verder ontwikkelde handmatig te bedienen zesversnellingsbak. Nieuw is de zeer moderne 7-traps Steptronic transmissie met dubbele koppeling, die optioneel voor de BMW 116d en de BMW 118i leverbaar is. De 8-traps Steptronic transmissie, optioneel voor de BMW 118d en standaard in de BMW 120d xDrive, en de 8-traps Steptronic Sport transmissie in de BMW M135i xDrive verhogen het schakel- en rijcomfort nog verder. Beide automatische transmissies kunnen dankzij intelligente connectie met het boordnetwerk hun schakelstrategie aanpassen aan de omstandigheden op de weg.

Assistentiesystemen uit modellen hoger in het BMW gamma.

Talrijke innovatieve rijassistentiesystemen in de BMW 1 Reeks zijn afkomstig uit modellen die hoger staan in het gamma van BMW en zijn voor het eerst beschikbaar in de premium compacte klasse. Afhankelijk van het systeem worden camerabeelden en gegevens van de radar- en ultrasone sensors gebruikt om de bestuurder te waarschuwen voor gevaar en obstakels in de directe omgeving van de auto; zo nodig kunnen de systemen op basis daarvan met de remmen of de besturing ingrijpen om het ongevalsrisico te minimaliseren. Tot de standaarduitrusting behoren Collision Warning met voetgangersherkenning en City-remfunctie, die ook fietsers signaleert. Eveneens standaard is de bij snelheden tussen 70 en 210 km/h actieve Lane Departure Warning met actieve stuurcorrectie. Optioneel zijn de tot 160 km/h actieve Active Cruise Control – in combinatie met een automatische transmissie met Stop & Go functie – en de Driving Assistant met Lane Change Warning, Rear Collision Warning en Crossing-traffic Alert.

Park Assistant met innovatieve Reversing Assistant.

De nieuwe BMW 1 Reeks is optioneel te bestellen met Park Distance Control (PDC), achteruitrijcamera of met Park Assistant, die inparkeren met automatische ondersteuning in parkeervakken parallel aan of haaks op de rijrichting mogelijk maakt, evenals uitparkeren uit parallelle vakken. Nieuw in het premium compacte segment is de innovatieve Reversing Assistant. Die slaat de stuurbewegingen van het laatste traject bij snelheden tot 36 km/h op en kan de auto over een afstand van maximaal 50 meter en een snelheid van maximaal 9 km/h automatisch over exact hetzelfde traject achteruit laten rijden.

Smartphone als autosleutel.

De optionele BMW Digital Key en BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant zijn twee nieuwe, slimme en tot nu toe aan modellen hoger in het BMW gamma voorbehouden voorzieningen die nu hun entree maken in de premium compacte klasse. De BMW Digital Key biedt als optie de mogelijkheid de auto via Near Field Communication (NFC) met de smartphone te ver- en ontgrendelen, waarmee de conventionele autosleutel overbodig is. De bestuurder hoeft de smartphone slechts bij de deurgreep te houden om de auto te openen – ook als de batterij van de smartphone leeg is. De motor kan worden gestart als de smartphone op de daarvoor bestemde plaats ligt of op de draadloze oplaadmogelijkheid (Wireless Charging). De bestuurder kan de digitale sleutel delen met vijf personen, maar hij kan als alternatief ook de BMW Key Card met dezelfde functies gebruiken. De BMW Digital Key is geschikt voor de topmodellen met NFC-functionaliteit van Samsung Galaxy met Android 8.0 en hoger.

BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant: expert en gesprekspartner.

Onderdeel van het bedieningsconcept van de nieuwe BMW 1 Reeks is de in de BMW 3 Reeks gelanceerde BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, die als echte BMW expert bijna alle functies van de auto kent. Na een korte begroeting “Hey BMW” zijn de bediening van de auto en de toegang tot functies en informatie eenvoudig met Voice Control te activeren. BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant leert als zelfstandige digitale assistent de gebruiken, wensen en favoriete instellingen van de bestuurder kennen en kan die in de relevante context plaatsen. Maar hij kan ook als ontspannen gesprekspartner dienen. Uniek in vergelijking tot andere digitale assistenten is de mogelijkheid om hem een zelfgekozen naam te geven.

Ontspannen aankomen dankzij Connected Navigation.

Online diensten voor Connected Navigation integreren bij de routeplanning interne en externe informatie. De bestuurder kan vanuit diverse apps bestemmingen rechtstreeks naar het navigatiesysteem in de nieuwe BMW 1 Reeks sturen, die opslaan en met de auto synchroniseren.

Bediening met de iDrive Controller, Touch, Voice Control en gebaren.

De nieuwe BMW 1 Reeks biedt keuze uit diverse bedieningsopties. Behalve de klassieke knoppen op de middenconsole en op het stuur zijn ook de iDrive Controller – in combinatie met de BMW Live Cockpit Plus met aanraakschermen – en de standaard aanwezige 8,8 inch grote Control Display met aanraakfunctie de centrale bestanddelen. De BMW Live Cockpit Plus omvat bovendien een navigatiesysteem en de intelligente Voice Control met online spraakverwerking.

De BMW Live Cockpit Professional biedt op basis van BMW Operating System 7.0 behalve het volledig digitale weergave- en bedieningssysteem met twee 10,25 inch grote displays ook een hoge mate van connectiviteit en veel mogelijkheden tot individualisering. Daartoe behoren een zelflerend navigatiesysteem en een multimediasysteem met harddisk. Optioneel is de mogelijkheid van bediening met gebaren.
