Munich. With the introduction of 48-volt mild hybrid technology in additional model series from summer 2020, BMW continues to consistently reduce fuel consumption and emissions in its current vehicle fleet. From July and August 2020, both efficiency and dynamic performance will be optimised in 51 models with the use of a particularly powerful starter generator and an additional battery. This also applies to the new in-line 6-cylinder diesel engines in the BMW 7 Series and in the BMW X3, BMW X4, BMW X5, BMW X6 and BMW X7. Two additional engine variants are available for the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé from July 2020 onwards. In numerous plug-in hybrid models, the new BMW eDrive Zone function will ensure an automatic switch to purely electric operating mode when entering inner city areas such as low emission zones.

The extension of the range of standard and optional equipment features in the areas of driver assistance systems, operation and networking contributes to an increase in driving pleasure. A new display and control system will be part of the standard trim in the new BMW 3 Series from July 2020. Among other things, BMW Operating System 7 enables use of the optional BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant. Furthermore, in the BMW 3 Series and other model series the range of functions of the optional Driving Assistant Professional is supplemented by Active Navigation Guidance and the Emergency Lane Assistant.

Increased dynamic performance and reduced fuel consumption: 48-volt mild hybrid technology now in 51 BMW models.
From summer 2020 onwards, mild hybrid technology will be used in numerous additional BMW models to provide support and relief for the combustion engine. It consists of a 48-volt starter generator that enables particularly intensive braking energy recuperation along with an additional battery to store the electricity that is generated in this way. The 48-volt battery not only supplies the electrically operated vehicle functions, it also makes its energy available to generate additional drive power. For this purpose the current flows back to the starter generator, which now takes on the role of an electric drive. This reduces the load on the combustion engine, allowing it to run as often as possible in an efficiency-optimised load range. What is more, the generator creates an electric boost during acceleration. This instantly available additional output of 8 kW/11 hp supports dynamic power delivery during start and acceleration.

The 48-volt mild hybrid technology was first introduced in selected model variants of the BMW 5 Series in autumn 2019. This was followed by the BMW 3 Series models and several BMW X models. From July and August 2020, it will be available as standard in 37 further model variants of the BMW 3 Series, BMW 5 Series, BMW 6 Series and BMW 7 Series as well as the BMW X3, BMW X4, BMW X5, BMW X6 and BMW X7. All in all it will ensure efficiency and dynamic performance in 51 current BMW models.

More power, less emissions: the new in-line 6-cylinder diesel engines with optimised BMW TwinPower Turbo Technology.
A new generation of in-line 6-cylinder engines will make its debut in numerous BMW model series in summer 2020. These highly efficient aluminium power units, each with a capacity of 3.0 litres, combine their extensively further developed BMW TwinPower Turbo Technology with the new 48-volt mild hybrid system, thereby achieving particularly significant progress within the context of BMW EfficientDynamics. In addition to optimised turbocharging systems, the latest version of common rail direct injection with piezo injectors ensures that both performance and efficiency are significantly increased in the new diesel engines. The injectors now transport fuel to the combustion chambers in up to ten injections per cycle and at a maximum pressure of 2,700 bar.

With maximum output increased by 15 kW/21 hp to 210 kW/286 hp, the new diesel engine for the models BMW 730d (combined fuel consumption: 4.9 – 4.7 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 128 – 123 g/km) and BMW 730d xDrive (combined fuel consumption: 5.2 – 5.0 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 138 – 133 g/km), BMW 730Ld (combined fuel consumption: 5.0 – 4.8 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 130 – 126 g/km), BMW 730Ld xDrive (combined fuel consumption: 5.3 – 5.1 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 139 – 133 g/km), BMW X3 xDrive30d (combined fuel consumption: 5.6 – 5.2 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 147 – 137 g/km), BMW X4 xDrive30d (combined fuel consumption: 5.6 – 5.1 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 146 – 136 g/km), BMW X5 xDrive30d (combined fuel consumption: 6.2 – 5.7 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 164 – 150 g/km) und BMW X6 xDrive30d (combined fuel consumption: 6.2 – 5.7 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 162 – 149 g/km) demonstrates a perceptibly enhanced temperament. Its particularly spontaneous power delivery is due to the multi-stage turbocharging used for the first time in this version of the in-line 6-cylinder diesel engine, along with variable turbine geometry for the low-pressure stage of the system. Increased by 30 to 650 Nm, the maximum torque of the new drive unit goes on stream at between 1,500 and 2,500 rpm – a power boost that especially results in enhanced sprint capacity. For example, the BMW 730d and the BMW 730d xDrive have improved their acceleration from zero to 100 km/h by 0.2 seconds each to 5.9 and 5.6 seconds respectively.

The new diesel engine now also used in the BMW 740d xDrive models BMW 740d xDrive (combined fuel consumption: 5.4 – 5.2 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 142 – 136 g/km), BMW 740Ld xDrive (combined fuel consumption: 5.4 – 5.2 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 143 – 137 g/km), BMW X3 M40d (combined fuel consumption: 6.0 – 5.6 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 157 – 148 g/km), BMW X4 M40d (combined fuel consumption: 5.9 – 5.6 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 156 – 147 g/km) und BMW X7 xDrive40d (combined fuel consumption: 6.6 – 6.4 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 173 – 167 g/km) generates even greater pulling power. Its multi-stage turbocharging system comprises a high-pressure and a low-pressure turbocharger with variable turbine geometry. As a result, a maximum torque of 700 Nm is delivered between 1,750 and 2,250 rpm. The engine reaches its peak output of 250 kW/340 hp at 4 400 rpm. In the BMW 740d xDrive, for example, this increased power helps achieve a sprint from standstill to 100 km/h that is also improved by 0.2 seconds to 5.0 seconds.

The two new engines are feature exhaust gas treatment technology with engine-related components consisting of a diesel oxidation catalytic converter and an SCR coating on the diesel particulate filter. For optimum reduction of nitrogen oxide (NO_X) emissions, a second dosage unit is additionally integrated at the outlet of the engine-related SCR system. As a result, the models powered by the new in-line 6-cylinder diesel engines meet the Euro 6d emissions standard.

Expansion of the model range for the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé.
The BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé model range will be extended from July 2020 with the addition of two new engine variants. A new entry-level diesel engine and an additional all-wheel drive model variant are available for the sporty, elegant four-door model in the premium compact segment. The new BMW 218d Gran Coupé (combined fuel consumption: 4.5 – 4.2 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 118 – 109 g/km) is powered by the latest version of a 4-cylinder diesel engine. The BMW TwinPower Turbo Technology in the 2.0-litre power unit now includes a two-stage turbocharging system as well as a likewise further developed common rail direct injection featuring solenoid valve injectors. The new engine delivers its maximum torque of 350 Nm between 1,750 and 2,500 rpm, reaching a maximum output of 110 kW/150 hp at 4,000 rpm. The new BMW 218d Gran Coupé accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 8.6 seconds with the standard 6-speed manual transmission and in 8.5 seconds with the optional 8-speed Steptronic transmission.

The second diesel engine available for the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé delivers a maximum output of 140 kW/190 hp and a maximum torque of 400 Nm. In the new BMW 220d xDrive Gran Coupé (combined fuel consumption: 4.9 – 4.5 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 129 – 119 g/km) it is now combined with intelligent all-wheel drive and an 8-speed Steptronic transmission. This enables the new model variant to accelerate from standstill to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds. Thanks to state-of-the-art exhaust gas treatment including SCR catalytic converter with AdBlue injection, both new models meet the Euro 6d emissions standard.

Green light for BMW eDrive Zone: locally emissions-free travel in the city on an automated basis.
Innovative technology from the fields of electrification and digitalisation is combined in the new BMW eDrive Zone function available in the premium car manufacturer’s plug-in hybrid models. This globally unique digital service offers additional options for making optimum use of the capabilities of emissions-free driving. The BMW eDrive Zone function triggers an automatic switch to purely electric operating mode as soon as the vehicle enters selected urban areas such as low-emission zones.

BMW eDrive Zone will be a standard feature of all plug-in hybrid models of the BMW 3 Series, BMW 5 Series and BMW 7 Series as well as the BMW X5. The digital service uses geo-fencing technology via GPS to identify designated areas. eDrive zones of this kind are currently designated in some 80 cities throughout Europe. When the service is activated, each available eDrive Zone on the navigation map is graphically highlighted in the Control Display: a message appears to inform the driver that the vehicle will automatically switch to electric driving mode as soon as it enters an eDrive Zone.

From summer 2020, the above-mentioned plug-in hybrid models will also be fitted with an integrated drive-ready sound for electric power as standard. This means that both starting and stopping the electric drive will be accompanied by a distinctive acoustic signal. In addition there has been an expansion of the range of preconditioning functions, which is also a standard feature. Depending on the equipment fitted, more functions will be available that can be activated remotely by smartphone, in addition to interior cooling and heating. In future it will also be possible to activate the seat climate control before the start of a journey, for example. In the same way it will be possible to include the seat, steering wheel, exterior mirror and rear window heating systems in the preconditioning for heating the interior, as well as heating of the cameras for the driver assistance systems.

BMW 3 Series Sedan and BMW 3 Series Touring now fitted with BMW Operating System 7 as standard.
In the new BMW 3 Series, the latest generation of the display and control system will be a standard feature as of summer 2020. Previously only used in conjunction with BMW Live Cockpit Professional, BMW Operating System 7 offers extensive individualisation and personalisation of the content shown on the Control Display. The standard BMW Live Cockpit now also includes a redesigned instrument cluster with a 5.1-inch digital display at its centre. BMW Live Cockpit Plus, like BMW Live Cockpit Professional, also includes the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant. This digital companion enables intuitive operation of numerous vehicle functions via voice control (“Hey, BMW”). In the BMW 1 Series and BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé, BMW Operating System 7 will also be part of the optional BMW Live Cockpit Plus from July 2020.

The M sports seats are new to the range of optional extras for the new BMW 3 Series Sedan and the new BMW 3 Series Touring. They feature excellent lateral support, a wide range of adjustment options and headrests with embossed M logo. The M sports seats for driver and front passenger are available in conjunction with the Model M Sport equipment line as well as for the BMW M automobiles of the new BMW 3 Series. The choice of exterior colours for the new BMW 3 Series is supplemented by the variant Phytonic Blue metallic.

Increased comfort and safety: Driving Assistant Professional with additional functions.
The optional Driving Assistant Professional is a particularly comprehensive collection of driver assistance systems designed to optimise comfort and safety: it is being used by BMW to pave the way to automated driving in numerous current models. The focus is on the steering and lane guidance assistant, which will be enhanced with additional functions from summer 2020 in the BMW 3 Series, BMW 5 Series, BMW 6 Series and BMW 8 Series, in the BMW X5, BMW X6 and BMW X7, and in all variants of the BMW M5 and BMW M8.

The new Active Navigation Guidance indicates lane changes that are necessary in order to continue driving along the selected route when destination guidance is active. The driver can then carry out this operation conveniently with the aid of the lane change assistant. In addition, Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go function will in future include an adaptive distance control that adapts to the respective traffic situation and environmental conditions.

Further progress is also being made in the intelligent control of the Speed Limit Info system with No Passing Indicator. In all model variants of the BMW 1 Series, BMW 3 Series, BMW 5 Series, BMW 6 Series, BMW 7 Series and BMW 8 Series, the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé, the BMW Z4, the BMW X5, the BMW X6 and the BMW X7 as well as the BMW M5, the BMW M8, the BMW X5 M and the BMW X6 M, road sign detection will in future additionally take into account speed limits that are restricted in time and only apply on certain days of the week. On days other, the speed limit derived from the navigation data is displayed.

BMW 7 Series and BMW 8 Series with optimised Integral Active Steering.
Sporty flair and ride comfort in the BMW 7 Series luxury sedans and the luxury sports cars of the BMW 8 Series benefit from Integral Active Steering. The optional suspension system combines a variable rack and pinion ratio on the front axle with selective co-steering of the rear wheels. Even at particularly low speeds of less than 3 km/h, the rear wheels are now countersteered. This gives the models of the BMW 7 Series and BMW 8 Series additional manoeuvrability when moving slowly in and out of parking spaces or passing through narrow gaps.

In addition, the BMW 7 Series will be available from July 2020 in the new exterior paint finish Phytonic Blue metallic and the BMW Individual paint finish Frozen Bluestone metallic. A fresh touch of luxury ambience is added to the interior with the BMW Individual leather steering wheel as well as the new version of the BMW Individual Merino full leather trim in the colour combination Smoke White/Night Blue/Black.

New body finishes for the BMW i3 and numerous other models
Another new addition to the range is the body finish in Cashmere Silver metallic, which is also available for the BMW X1. The BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer will also offered in Phytonic Blue metallic and Misano Blue metallic in future.

New body finishes are available for numerous other models, too. Phytonic Blue metallic and Sunset Orange metallic versions of the BMW 1 Series and the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé will be on offer from July 2020. The body finish Phytonic Blue metallic will also be available for the BMW X5, BMW X6 and BMW X7 as of August 2020. What is more, the BMW X5 and BMW X6 can be fitted with the new Carbon Fibre interior trim finishers and M Carbon exterior mirror caps in conjunction with the M sports package.

The purely electrically powered models BMW i3 (combined fuel consumption: 0.0 l/100 km; combined power consumption: 13.1 kWh/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 0 g/km) and BMW i3s (combined fuel consumption: 0.0 l/100 km; combined power consumption: 14.6 – 14.0 kWh/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 0 g/km) will be available from summer 2020 in the new body finish Blue Ridge Mountain with accentuations in Frozen Grey metallic.

Meanwhile new BMW Individual body finishes are available for the model variants of the high-performance sports car BMW M8. For the BMW M8 Series Coupé (combined fuel consumption: 10.6 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 242 g/km*) and the BMW M8 Convertible (combined fuel consumption: 10.8 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 246 g/km), the Ametrin metallic variant is now newly available. For both models and for the BMW M8 Gran Coupé (combined fuel consumption: 10.7 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 244 g/km), the versions Bluestone metallic, Frozen Brands Hatch Grey metallic and Frozen Motegi Red metallic are likewise available.

BMW presenteert de opvolger van een van de meest creatieve voertuigconcepten van de afgelopen jaren. De nieuwe BMW 6 Reeks Gran Turismo combineert het comfort van een luxe sedan voor lange afstanden met de aantrekkelijke styling van een coupé. Zijn carrosserie herbergt een indrukwekkende functionaliteit, veel ruimte en luxe. Deze eigenschappen bood zijn voorganger, die dit segment heeft gedefinieerd, eveneens. BMW heeft ze nu fijngeslepen voor de nieuwe BMW 6 Reeks Gran Turismo. Deze natuurlijke evolutie van de BMW 5 Reeks Gran Turismo betekent niet alleen een sprong voorwaarts op het gebied van dynamiek en efficiency, maar ook een uitgebreide uitrusting en meer innovatieve assistentiesystemen.

De nieuwe BMW 6 Reeks Gran Turismo beleeft zijn wereldpremière tijdens de IAA van Frankfurt 2017 in september. Vanaf de marktintroductie in november zijn drie van BMW's nieuwste motorvarianten leverbaar. Op twee daarvan is BMW's xDrive vierwielaandrijving bovendien optioneel.

Lichter, sportiever, meer comfort en zuiniger.

In vergelijking met het voorgaande model heeft BMW 150 kilogram gewicht weten te besparen. Dit is bereikt dankzij een intelligent ontwerp en het gebruik van meer aluminium en staal met een hoge treksterkte voor zowel de carrosserie als het onderstel. Samen met de verbeterde aerodynamica, het gestegen vermogen en de zuiniger motoren, zorgt dit voor sportievere prestaties en minder brandstofverbruik. Afhankelijk van de motorvariant gaat de acceleratie van 0 naar 100 km/u tot wel 0,7 seconde sneller (BMW 630i Gran Turismo) vergeleken met de gelijk gemotoriseerde voorganger. Tegelijkertijd zijn zowel het brandstofverbruik als de uitstoot in de NEDC-testcyclus tot wel 15% lager (BMW 640i Gran Turismo, BMW 630d Gran Turismo). Zowel de dynamiek als het rijcomfort van de nieuwe BMW 6 Reeks Gran Turismo plukken de vruchten van aanzienlijke verbeteringen aan het onderstel. De achtwielophanging is standaard voorzien van luchtvering met automatische niveauregeling, terwijl het rijcomfort verder te vergroten is door te kiezen voor de adaptieve vering (voor en achter evenals Dynamic Damper Control). De optie Executive Drive, aangeboden in combinatie met Integral Active Steering en voorzien van actieve rol-stabilisatie, geeft de auto een sportiever weggedrag. Met de luchtvering kan de bestuurder de bodemvrijheid handmatig tot 20 mm vergroten, zodat oneffenheden op onverharde wegen geen belemmering meer vormen. Verlagen met 10 mm is eveneens mogelijk – zowel handmatig met behulp van een knop als automatisch, mits via Driving Experience Control de SPORT-stand is gekozen en tenslotte ook als de auto sneller rijdt dan 120 km/u. Alle optionele onderstelsystemen zijn nu leverbaar in combinatie met BMW xDrive.

Het ontwerp: dynamische afmetingen en elegante, vloeiende lijnen.

De met 87 mm vergrote lengte (nu 5.091 mm), de ongewijzigde breedte (1.902 mm) en de 21 mm lagere carrosserie (1.538 mm) zijn verpakt onder een glooiende, coupé-achtige daklijn. De voorkant heeft een onderscheidend, krachtig ontwerp waarin de lenzen van de standaard LED koplampen helemaal tot aan de dubbele nieren doorlopen. De voor BMW zo karakteristieke sportieve elegantie komt vooral tot uitdrukking als je de nieuwe BMW 6 Reeks Gran Turismo van opzij bekijkt. Dan vallen de lange motorkap, de ver naar achteren geplaatste passagiersruimte, de grote wielbasis (3.070 mm), de ramen zonder stijl en de grote, naar achteren doorgetrokken raampartij op. Daar loopt de daklijn vloeiend naar beneden naar een 64 mm lagere kofferbak. De achterlichten met een driedimensionaal ontwerp voegen een in het oog springend detail toe.

Het lage silhouet heeft een positief effect op de aerodynamica. Actieve bediening van de louvres in de grille en andere maatregelen, zoals Air Curtains, Air Breathers en een automatisch uitklappende achterspoiler zorgen voor een Cw-waarde van slechts 0.25 (0.29 voor zijn voorganger).

Een ideale mix van rijplezier, rijcomfort en functionaliteit.

Het interieur is ontworpen met een op de bestuurder gerichte cockpit en een zeer ruim passagierscompartiment. De verhoogde zitpositie verbetert het zicht van de bestuurder en zorgt – samen met de ergonomische indeling – al voor een gevoel van rijplezier. De belijning van het interieur, de gebruikte materialen en de degelijke constructie stralen vakmanschap uit en dragen bij aan het premium gevoel. De achterpassagiers zitten op drie separate stoelen, met een maximale hoeveelheid beenruimte. Ondanks de lagere daklijn is de hoofdruimte toch flink toegenomen. Tegelijkertijd zorgen nieuw ontworpen stoelen samen met verbeterde geluidsisolatie voor nog meer rijcomfort. Met de optioneel verkrijgbare elektrisch te verstellen achterstoelen kunnen de passagiers de hoek van de rugleuning aanpassen.

De nieuwe BMW 6 Reeks Gran Turismo heeft standaard een elektrisch bedienbare kofferklep. De inhoud bedraagt 610 liter (110 liter meer vergeleken met zijn voorganger). Voor gebruiksgemak is de tildrempel met meer dan vijf centimeter verlaagd – en daarmee net zo laag als de laadvloer van de bagageruimte. De rugleuning van de achterbank is in 40:20:40 delen neerklapbaar. Ontgrendeling gaat via de kofferbak waarna de leuning met behulp van een daar geplaatste knop elektronisch omklapt. Het resultaat is een bagageruimte met een maximum inhoud van 1.800 liter (100 liter meer dan zijn voorganger). De uit twee delen bestaande hoedenplank is degelijk en kan onder de laadvloer worden opgeborgen.

Een nieuwe generatie motoren, standaard 8-traps automaat en BMW xDrive als optie.

De motoren voor de nieuwe BMW 6 Reeks Gran Turismo zijn voorzien van toonaangevende TwinPower Turbo technologie. Ze zijn standaard gekoppeld aan een 8-traps Steptronic automaat. De 2.0 liter viercilinder benzinemotor van de BMW 630i Gran Turismo levert een maximum vermogen van 190kW/258 pk en een maximum koppel van 400 Nm. Hiermee sprint hij in 6,3 seconden van 0 naar 100 km/u. Het gemiddeld brandstofverbruik bedraagt 6,2 - 6,6 l/100 km* bij een CO2-uitstoot van 142 - 152 g/km*.

De 3.0 liter zescilinder zes-in-lijn benzinemotor van de BMW 640i Gran Turismo levert een maximum vermogen van 250 kW/340 pk en een maximum koppel van 450 Nm. Hiermee is de auto in staat om in 5,4 seconden van 0 naar 100 km/u te accelereren

(de BMW 640i xDrive Gran Turismo is nog 0,1 seconde sneller). Het gemiddeld brandstofverbruik van de twee versies bedraagt achtereenvolgens 7,0 - 7,4 l/100 km en 7,7 - 8,2 l/100 km* bij een CO2-uitstoot van 159 - 169 en 177 - 187 g/km*.

De 3.0 liter zes-in-lijn dieselmotor levert 195 kW/265 pk en 620 Nm. Deze motor is eveneens te combineren met xDrive. De nieuwe BMW 630d Gran Turismo en de

BMW 630d xDrive Gran Turismo accelereren in achtereenvolgens 6,1 en 6,0 seconden naar 100 km/u. Het gemiddeld brandstofverbruik van de twee bedraagt 4,9 - 5,3 en 5,4 - 5,9 l/100 km*. Dit bij een CO2-uitstoot van achtereenvolgens 129 - 139 en 144 - 154 g/km*.

Uniek veelzijdig besturingssysteem.

De nieuwe BMW 6 Reeks Gran Turismo heeft een uniek en veelzijdig besturingssysteem waarmee de bestuurder de auto, de navigatie, de communicatie en de infotainment kan bedienen. Centraal daarin staat iDrive dat is voorzien van een Touch Controller op de middenconsole en een Control Display, nu in de vorm van een vrijstaand touchscreen. Het display heeft een hoge resolutie en een schermdiagonaal van 10,25 inch met een overzichtelijke indeling die een intuïtieve bediening ondersteunt.

De rijassistentiesystemen in de BMW 6 Reeks Gran Turismo maken gebruik van een nieuwe stereocamera en hebben optioneel een radar- en ultrasoon sensorsysteem om de omgeving van de auto te monitoren. Collission en Pedestrian Warning met City Collision Mitigation is eveneens standaard. Verder vermeldt de lijst met opties onder meer een verbeterde versie van Active Cruise Control met Stop & Go functie. Dit werkt tot een snelheid van 210 km/u. De Steering en Lane Control Assistant (die hetzelfde snelheidsbereik heeft) vertegenwoordigt een volgende stap op weg naar autonoom rijden. Het systeem signaleert wegmarkeringen en registreert andere voertuigen, waardoor het de bestuurder helpt om de auto in de juiste rijbaan te houden. Het Lane Departure en Lane Change Warning systeem, Side Collision Warning en de uitwijk-hulp vergroten eveneens het gemak en de veiligheid door de bestuurder eventueel met correcties te ondersteunen. Crossing Traffic Warning, Priority Warning, Crossroads Warning en Wrong-way Warning dragen bij aan het voorkomen van gevaarlijke situaties. Naast al deze veiligheidssystemen is de nieuwe BMW 6 Reeks Gran Turismo ook leverbaar met Remote Control Parking.

BMW Connected: de persoonlijke mobiliteitsassistent, nieuwe diensten.

Rijders van de nieuwe BMW 6 Reeks Gran Turismo genieten ook van de voordelen van BMW Connected; deze digitale mobiliteitsassistent helpt met behulp van intelligente connectiviteit bij het vinden van bestemmingen. Dat overigens niet alleen wanneer de bestuurder zich in de auto bevindt. Zo kan de bestuurder data van de agenda in een smartphone gebruiken om al van tevoren zijn route te laten plannen. Het is bijvoorbeeld mogelijk om met behulp van real-time verkeersinformatie de ideale vertrektijd te bepalen. Eenmaal in de auto kan de bestuurder zijn agenda, e-mail en adresboek beheren via Microsoft Exchange (vooralsnog nog niet beschikbaar in onze markt). De smartphone is draadloos geïntegreerd via bluetooth. Inductieladen behoort eveneens tot de mogelijkheden.

Real Time Traffic Information geeft files en parkeerinformatie weer. Met Remote 3D View kan de bestuurder te allen tijde via zijn smartphone de omgeving van de geparkeerde auto in de gaten houden.

BMW presenteert de opvolger van een van de meest creatieve voertuigconcepten van de afgelopen jaren. De nieuwe BMW 6 Reeks Gran Turismo combineert het comfort van een luxe sedan voor lange afstanden met de aantrekkelijke styling van een coupé. Zijn carrosserie herbergt een indrukwekkende functionaliteit, veel ruimte en luxe. Deze eigenschappen bood zijn voorganger, die dit segment heeft gedefinieerd, eveneens. BMW heeft ze nu fijngeslepen voor de nieuwe BMW 6 Reeks Gran Turismo. Deze natuurlijke evolutie van de BMW 5 Reeks Gran Turismo betekent niet alleen een sprong voorwaarts op het gebied van dynamiek en efficiency, maar ook een uitgebreide uitrusting en meer innovatieve assistentiesystemen.

De nieuwe BMW 6 Reeks Gran Turismo beleeft zijn wereldpremière tijdens de IAA van Frankfurt 2017 in september. Vanaf de marktintroductie in november zijn drie van BMW's nieuwste motorvarianten leverbaar. Op twee daarvan is BMW's xDrive vierwielaandrijving bovendien optioneel.

Lichter, sportiever, meer comfort en zuiniger.

In vergelijking met het voorgaande model heeft BMW 150 kilogram gewicht weten te besparen. Dit is bereikt dankzij een intelligent ontwerp en het gebruik van meer aluminium en staal met een hoge treksterkte voor zowel de carrosserie als het onderstel. Samen met de verbeterde aerodynamica, het gestegen vermogen en de zuiniger motoren, zorgt dit voor sportievere prestaties en minder brandstofverbruik. Afhankelijk van de motorvariant gaat de acceleratie van 0 naar 100 km/u tot wel 0,7 seconde sneller (BMW 630i Gran Turismo) vergeleken met de gelijk gemotoriseerde voorganger. Tegelijkertijd zijn zowel het brandstofverbruik als de uitstoot in de NEDC-testcyclus tot wel 15% lager (BMW 640i Gran Turismo, BMW 630d Gran Turismo). Zowel de dynamiek als het rijcomfort van de nieuwe BMW 6 Reeks Gran Turismo plukken de vruchten van aanzienlijke verbeteringen aan het onderstel. De achtwielophanging is standaard voorzien van luchtvering met automatische niveauregeling, terwijl het rijcomfort verder te vergroten is door te kiezen voor de adaptieve vering (voor en achter evenals Dynamic Damper Control). De optie Executive Drive, aangeboden in combinatie met Integral Active Steering en voorzien van actieve rol-stabilisatie, geeft de auto een sportiever weggedrag. Met de luchtvering kan de bestuurder de bodemvrijheid handmatig tot 20 mm vergroten, zodat oneffenheden op onverharde wegen geen belemmering meer vormen. Verlagen met 10 mm is eveneens mogelijk – zowel handmatig met behulp van een knop als automatisch, mits via Driving Experience Control de SPORT-stand is gekozen en tenslotte ook als de auto sneller rijdt dan 120 km/u. Alle optionele onderstelsystemen zijn nu leverbaar in combinatie met BMW xDrive.

Het ontwerp: dynamische afmetingen en elegante, vloeiende lijnen.

De met 87 mm vergrote lengte (nu 5.091 mm), de ongewijzigde breedte (1.902 mm) en de 21 mm lagere carrosserie (1.538 mm) zijn verpakt onder een glooiende, coupé-achtige daklijn. De voorkant heeft een onderscheidend, krachtig ontwerp waarin de lenzen van de standaard LED koplampen helemaal tot aan de dubbele nieren doorlopen. De voor BMW zo karakteristieke sportieve elegantie komt vooral tot uitdrukking als je de nieuwe BMW 6 Reeks Gran Turismo van opzij bekijkt. Dan vallen de lange motorkap, de ver naar achteren geplaatste passagiersruimte, de grote wielbasis (3.070 mm), de ramen zonder stijl en de grote, naar achteren doorgetrokken raampartij op. Daar loopt de daklijn vloeiend naar beneden naar een 64 mm lagere kofferbak. De achterlichten met een driedimensionaal ontwerp voegen een in het oog springend detail toe.

Het lage silhouet heeft een positief effect op de aerodynamica. Actieve bediening van de louvres in de grille en andere maatregelen, zoals Air Curtains, Air Breathers en een automatisch uitklappende achterspoiler zorgen voor een Cw-waarde van slechts 0.25 (0.29 voor zijn voorganger).

Een ideale mix van rijplezier, rijcomfort en functionaliteit.

Het interieur is ontworpen met een op de bestuurder gerichte cockpit en een zeer ruim passagierscompartiment. De verhoogde zitpositie verbetert het zicht van de bestuurder en zorgt – samen met de ergonomische indeling – al voor een gevoel van rijplezier. De belijning van het interieur, de gebruikte materialen en de degelijke constructie stralen vakmanschap uit en dragen bij aan het premium gevoel. De achterpassagiers zitten op drie separate stoelen, met een maximale hoeveelheid beenruimte. Ondanks de lagere daklijn is de hoofdruimte toch flink toegenomen. Tegelijkertijd zorgen nieuw ontworpen stoelen samen met verbeterde geluidsisolatie voor nog meer rijcomfort. Met de optioneel verkrijgbare elektrisch te verstellen achterstoelen kunnen de passagiers de hoek van de rugleuning aanpassen.

De nieuwe BMW 6 Reeks Gran Turismo heeft standaard een elektrisch bedienbare kofferklep. De inhoud bedraagt 610 liter (110 liter meer vergeleken met zijn voorganger). Voor gebruiksgemak is de tildrempel met meer dan vijf centimeter verlaagd – en daarmee net zo laag als de laadvloer van de bagageruimte. De rugleuning van de achterbank is in 40:20:40 delen neerklapbaar. Ontgrendeling gaat via de kofferbak waarna de leuning met behulp van een daar geplaatste knop elektronisch omklapt. Het resultaat is een bagageruimte met een maximum inhoud van 1.800 liter (100 liter meer dan zijn voorganger). De uit twee delen bestaande hoedenplank is degelijk en kan onder de laadvloer worden opgeborgen.

Een nieuwe generatie motoren, standaard 8-traps automaat en BMW xDrive als optie.

De motoren voor de nieuwe BMW 6 Reeks Gran Turismo zijn voorzien van toonaangevende TwinPower Turbo technologie. Ze zijn standaard gekoppeld aan een 8-traps Steptronic automaat. De 2.0 liter viercilinder benzinemotor van de BMW 630i Gran Turismo levert een maximum vermogen van 190kW/258 pk en een maximum koppel van 400 Nm. Hiermee sprint hij in 6,3 seconden van 0 naar 100 km/u. Het gemiddeld brandstofverbruik bedraagt 6,2 - 6,6 l/100 km* bij een CO2-uitstoot van 142 - 152 g/km*.

De 3.0 liter zescilinder zes-in-lijn benzinemotor van de BMW 640i Gran Turismo levert een maximum vermogen van 250 kW/340 pk en een maximum koppel van 450 Nm. Hiermee is de auto in staat om in 5,4 seconden van 0 naar 100 km/u te accelereren

(de BMW 640i xDrive Gran Turismo is nog 0,1 seconde sneller). Het gemiddeld brandstofverbruik van de twee versies bedraagt achtereenvolgens 7,0 - 7,4 l/100 km en 7,7 - 8,2 l/100 km* bij een CO2-uitstoot van 159 - 169 en 177 - 187 g/km*.

De 3.0 liter zes-in-lijn dieselmotor levert 195 kW/265 pk en 620 Nm. Deze motor is eveneens te combineren met xDrive. De nieuwe BMW 630d Gran Turismo en de

BMW 630d xDrive Gran Turismo accelereren in achtereenvolgens 6,1 en 6,0 seconden naar 100 km/u. Het gemiddeld brandstofverbruik van de twee bedraagt 4,9 - 5,3 en 5,4 - 5,9 l/100 km*. Dit bij een CO2-uitstoot van achtereenvolgens 129 - 139 en 144 - 154 g/km*.

Uniek veelzijdig besturingssysteem.

De nieuwe BMW 6 Reeks Gran Turismo heeft een uniek en veelzijdig besturingssysteem waarmee de bestuurder de auto, de navigatie, de communicatie en de infotainment kan bedienen. Munich. From the spring of 2017, the new BMW 5 Series, the sportiest and most innovative business sedan in its segment, will also set new standards in terms of efficiency. The new BMW 520d EfficientDynamics Edition impresses with a combined fuel consumption level of 4.3 to 3.9 litres per 100 kilometres (combined CO2 emission level: 114 – 102 g/km). Also, from March 2017, groundbreaking innovations in the areas of networking and operating, now being presented for the first time in the BMW 5 Series, will find their way into further model series – the digital parking space search service On-Street Parking Information and the live tile arrangement of the menu on the Control Display.

With a further extended range of driver assistance systems, the BMW 7 Series is making further advancements on the way to automated driving. The spectrum now also includes, amongst other things, the Lane Departure Assistant, ActiveAssist Collision Avoidance, Cross-Traffic and Wrong-Way Driving Alert as well as the Remote 3D View function. From the spring of 2017, BMW 6 Series models will underpin their exclusive and sporty aura with attractive innovations included in the range of special equipment options. The Digital Charging Service, an innovative feature for convenient and economical charging of the high-voltage battery, will become available exclusively for BMW i and BMW iPerformance automobiles. From March 2017, new and exceedingly high-quality options will be added to the range of special equipment for the BMW 3 Series and the BMW 4 Series as well as for the models BMW X5 and BMW X6.

BMW 520d EfficientDynamics Edition: greater driving pleasure, less CO2. 
As from March 2017, the driving pleasure that is characteristic of the new BMW 5 Series Sedan will be combined with the lowest fuel consumption and emission levels in this vehicle segment. The new BMW 520d EfficientDynamics Edition is powered by a 2-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine featuring BMW TwinPower Turbo technology, delivering a maximum power output of 140 kW/190 hp and a peak torque of 400 Newton metres available between 1,750 and 2,500 rpm. The Sedan accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds and achieves a combined fuel consumption of between 4.3 and 3.9 litres per 100 kilometres and CO2 emission levels of between 114 and 102 grams per kilometres (figures as per EU test cycle, depending on selected tyre size). The power unit of the BMW 520d EfficientDynamics Edition features, inter alia, a turbo charger mounted on anti-friction bearings, high pressure exhaust gas recirculation, a map-controlled oil pump and further developed Common Rail direct injection technology, the solenoid injectors of which ensure precise fuel dosing with a maximum pressure of 2,000 bar.

In addition to the optimised efficiency of both the engine and the standard 8-speed Steptronic transmission, enhanced aerodynamic characteristics as well as the Sedan’s greatly reduced weight vs. its predecessor also contribute towards achieving the favourable fuel consumption and CO2 emission levels. Moreover, in order to optimise emission behaviour, the BMW 520d EfficientDynamics Edition is equipped with BMW BluePerformance technology, which in addition to the particulate filter, an oxidation catalyst and a NOX storage catalyst, also features an SCR catalytic converter with AdBlue injection technology reducing nitrogen oxide emissions even further.

On-Street Parking Information in further BMW models and available for additional towns and cities.
Starting in March 2017, thanks to intelligent networking, drivers will be provided in a large number of BMW models not only with real-time information on the traffic situation, but will also receive assistance in finding a parking space in major urban areas. The BMW ConnectedDrive Service Real Time Traffic Information (RTTI), which is available in conjunction with the navigation system Professional, will also be complemented by the unique On-Street Parking Information function. Similar to the RTTI feature, this digital service uses intelligent networking to assess the availability of free road-side parking spaces from both pre-stored and current data. The calculated probability of finding a free parking space at the destination is displayed to the driver by means of coloured markings on the navigation map depicted on the Control Display.

In future, the On-Street Parking Information service will make finding a parking space far easier in as many as ten German cities. In addition to Munich, Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt and Stuttgart, the availability of parking spaces will also be analysed in real time in Nuremberg, Bremen and Hanover as from March 2017. The function, which is being featured for the first time in the new BMW 5 Series Sedan, is now available for all current models with the exception of the BMW X1, the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer and the BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer.

Even more intuitive: Navigation system Professional with animated buttons arranged as tiles.
The latest innovations for the display and control concept, which made their debut in the new BMW 5 Series, will be available for further series as from March 2017. In conjunction with the navigation system Professional, the Control Display of the iDrive system will, thanks to a new enhanced graphic representation, facilitate even more intuitive operation in the BMW 7 Series and BMW 6 Series as well as in all variants of the BMW M6. The on-board monitor displays menus in the form of horizontally arranged buttons with a tile structure. These six buttons, the order of which can be individually configured by the driver, are displayed in the main menu on two sides of the screen. This ensures more convenient and faster access to the desired content. A new menu option is “Messages”, allowing access to incoming text messages and e-mails as well as information on the vehicle’s operating condition.

These functions, which are available using the menu selection, are symbolised by animated graphics in live mode. For example, in the overview and by means of a displayed map section, the navigation menu button already displays the route the vehicle is currently travelling on, whilst the entertainment menu graphics show the title of the song currently playing, including album cover, or the name of the selected radio station.

BMW 7 Series with additional driver assistance systems and Remote 3D View.
From the spring of 2017, there will be an even broader choice of driver assistance systems to ensure even greater driving pleasure, comfort and safety in 7 Series models. From March 2017, the systems will be included in the optional equipment package Driving Assistant Plus. They offer the driver effective assistance in many different situations, leading the way to automated driving. For example, the Steering and Lane Guidance Assistant being presented in the luxury sedans for the first time will be complemented by the Lane Change Assistant, which can be used when driving on motorways and other roads with separated directional carriageways. At speeds of between 70 and 180 km/h, the driver can initiate a lane change by holding the indicator lever in the one-touch position. The system sensors then analyse the situation on the neighbouring carriageway. If they detect that this lane is clear and there are no vehicles approaching at a high speed, the steering assistant conveniently helps the driver to change lanes.  

A further addition to the range of Driving Assistant Plus functions is the ActiveAssist Collision Avoidance system. Should a rapid lane change become necessary in order to avoid a suddenly appearing obstacle, it provides steering assistance at speeds of up to 160 km/h. The Cross Traffic Alert function, also included in the equipment package as from March, provides visual and acoustic signals if the traffic signs identified by the stereo camera should indicate that the driver has overlooked a road with right of way. The new Driving Assistant Plus features are complemented by the Wrong-Way Driving Alert feature. This system analyses navigation data in order to provide information on hazardous situations. It intervenes when the vehicle is driving in the wrong direction into one-way streets, roundabouts or motorway entrances.

In conjunction with the Surround View system, a feature that provides assistance with a combination of camera images taken from several different perspectives when the vehicle is manoeuvring in tricky situations, drivers of a BMW 7 Series will in future also have access to the Remote 3D View feature, the Surround View system of which provides them with permanent access to a three-dimensional live image of their vehicle and its surroundings, this being transmitted to their smartphone via the BMW Connected feature.

New option for the BMW 3 Series and the BMW 4 Series: Multifunctional instrument display.
From March 2017, a novel feature in the field of display technology will also ensure an even more intensive driving experience in BMW 3 Series and BMW 4 Series models, for which the multifunctional instrument display will be optionally available. The fully digital TFT colour display featuring black panel technology for the cockpit provides driving-related information in an individually selectable design. The colour scheme, graphic representation and choice of contents vary according to the driving mode selected via the Driving Experience Control button.

In COMFORT mode, the display shows a conventional image of the four round instruments using the corresponding graphics. A zoom function highlights the respective driving speed and engine speed. In ECO PRO mode, additional information on current fuel efficiency replaces the rev counter. In SPORT mode, the current speed is displayed digitally in the form of a large central figure, whilst the selected gear is indicated in the centre of the rev counter.

BMW 6 Series with distinctive accents for the exterior and interior.
From the spring of 2017, new and attractive special equipment features will also be available for the BMW 6 Series. These options, which are on offer exclusively for the BMW 6 Series Coupe, the BMW 6 Series Convertible and the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe, underscore the sporting character of the three luxury class models. The BMW i brand has become a pioneer in the field of sustainable individual mobility, not only thanks to groundbreaking vehicle concepts and drive technologies, but also with numerous innovative services. The latest innovation in this area is the Digital Charging Service for intelligent charging of the high-voltage battery featured in BMW i and BMW iPerformance automobiles. So the BMW Group is the first carmaker to offer a system that conveniently helps the driver to make use of favourable electricity tariffs or a high proportion of self-generated solar energy during the charging process.

In order to achieve best possible charging cost efficiency, the BMW Digital Charging Service takes into account not only tariffs with a dynamically varying price in the daytime, but also those that include predetermined highest and lowest prices. As a result, it is possible, for example, to take maximum advantage of particularly favourable overnight rates.

In conjunction with the new BMW i Wallbox Connect, the Digital Charging Service can also optimise the use of electricity from a domestic photovoltaic system. In this case, the amount of locally generated solar electricity is predicted based on the system’s performance data and the current weather forecast. Using this data, it is also possible to determine the proportion of solar electricity that is not consumed in the home at the time of being produced and can, therefore, be used for completely emission-free mobility. As a result, fully electric and/or hybrid vehicles are integrated as best possible into the domestic environment and the customer’s individual energy concept.

The BMW Digital Charging Service automatically schedules the start and finish of each charging process with a view to best possible cost efficiency or maximum proportion of green electricity respectively. In the process, the charging schedule always ensures that the vehicle has the maximum battery capacity at the desired departure time and that the interior is also fully air-conditioned. The unique service is an integral part of BMW ConnectedDrive Services available for all BMW i and BMW iPerformance automobiles.

New light alloy wheels for the BMW X5 and the BMW X6.
In the spring of 2017, the range of optional equipment available ex factory for the models BMW X5 and BMW X6 will also include for the

first time 21-inch light alloy wheels previously only available exclusively from the Original BMW Accessory range. The M light alloy wheels boasting a double spoke design and bicolour look with burnished spokes come with mixed tyres with emergency running characteristics. They are available in conjunction with the M Sports Package for all model variants with the exception of the BMW X5 sDrive25d, BMW X5 xDrive25d and the BMW X5 xDrive40e iPerformance.

BMW X5 M and BMW X6 M now with the navigation package ConnectedDrive as standard.
As from the spring of 2017, the range of standard equipment for the BMW X5 M and the BMW X6 M will be supplemented by the navigation package ConnectedDrive, also featuring telephony with wireless charging. It includes among other options the navigation system Professional, a smartphone holder with which inductive charging of a mobile phone is possible, the RTTI service including On-Street Parking Information, a WiFi hotspot, ConnectedDrive Services, Concierge Services and Remote Services.
