Munich / Beijing. At Auto China 2024 in Beijing, the BMW Group presents the latest progress in its change towards electrification, digitalisation and circularity. World premieres of new BMW and MINI models take centre stage. The BMW Vision Neue Klasse, which heralds the next generation of BMW vehicles, is on show for the first time in China.

„With the NEUE KLASSE, we are carrying BMW into the future: in design, technology and philosophy. It begins already next year when we will release the NEUE KLASSE onto the market. Not with niche models – but starting in our most successful, highest-volume segments,“ says Oliver Zipse, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG.

The BMW Vision Neue Klasse signals the start of a new era of individual mobility and provides a glimpse of the BMW brand's future model generation. It is rich in digital experiences, locally emission-free and circular in the long term to ensure typical BMW driving pleasure for future generations. Production of the Neue Klasse series models will start in 2025, initially at the BMW Group plant in Debrecen and shortly afterwards in China.

The brand's most popular electric vehicle worldwide is currently the BMW i4, the new version of which will celebrate its world premiere at Auto China 2024. The success of the BMW i4 confirms the BMW Group's open technology approach, which makes it possible to produce vehicles with purely electric drive systems and highly efficient combustion engines on a common platform. In Beijing, the new BMW i4 will be shown to the public for the first time together with the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé's combustion engine variants, which have also been further developed.

The world premiere of the MINI Aceman at Auto China 2024 marks the third member of the brand's new model family. The all-electric crossover model closes the gap between the new MINI Cooper and the new MINI Countryman.

"What the NEUE KLASSE is to BMW, the New MINI Family is to MINI: the most desirable product range in the history of the brand and the biggest investment we ever made in MINI. At just over four metres long, the Aceman embodies the basic idea of the original, iconic MINI of 1959: progressive design, optimal use of space and a minimal footprint.," said Jochen Goller, member of the Board of Management of BMW AG, responsible for Customer, Brand and Sales.

The Beijing International Automotive Exhibition, in short: Auto China, is one of the most important trade fairs in the international automotive industry. The 18th edition of the exhibition, which alternates with Auto Shanghai, will be held under the theme "New Era, New Cars" and will be open to the public from 25 April to 4 May 2024. At the China International Exhibition Centre in Beijing, car manufacturers, suppliers and service providers from all over the world will present their new models, products and technologies. The BMW Group brands will present their current product range on an exhibition area of around 2,000 square metres.

China premiere: The BMW Vision Neue Klasse.

The BMW Vision Neue Klasse combines the BMW Group's innovative strength and development expertise in the key future fields of electrification, digitalisation and circularity. A reinterpretation of the brand's typical design goes hand in hand with the progress embodied by the Vision vehicle. A clear design language reduced to the essentials with generous surfaces and few striking lines creates an almost monolithic body. Characteristic features such as the BMW radiator grille and the Hofmeister kink counter-swing on the C-pillar. are brought into even sharper focus.

In the interior, the next generation of BMW iDrive offers a unique digital user experience that merges the real and virtual worlds. It consistently puts the driver and his needs at the centre. In addition to the multifunction buttons on the steering wheel and the Central Display, the driver can interact with the vehicle using the innovative BMW Panoramic Vision. For the first time, it projects information across the entire width of the windscreen and is complemented in the Neue Klasse series by the enhanced BMW 3D Head-Up Display. Analogue controls are reduced to a minimum in the BMW Vision Neue Klasse.

The increased use of secondary raw materials, resource-conserving production methods and all-electric drive with sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology will reduce the CO₂ footprint of the Neue Klasse over the entire life cycle of the vehicles. In order to increase recyclability and take a decisive step towards a circular economy, the variety of materials used has also been reduced. An improved dismantling concept also helps to optimise the recycling of Neue Klasse vehicles.

World premiere: The new BMW i4, the new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé.

The appeal of pure electric premium mobility is also being consistently enhanced in the current model range of the BMW brand. The BMW i4 will be available in four model variants on the world's automotive markets as part of an extensive model revision. The Connected Home Charging Package for intelligent, solar- and load-optimised charging at home will be offered in the first pilot markets. The BMW i4 also offers the Plug & Charge Multi Contract function, which enables charging at fast charging stations without an app or card.

The latest advances in digitalisation are represented by the latest generation of BMW iDrive with QuickSelect based on BMW Operating System 8.5, which is available in both the new BMW i4 and the combustion engine models of the new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé. With the BMW Curved Display and the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, the enhanced BMW iDrive is consistently geared towards operation via touch functions and natural speech. The digital update in the new BMW i4 and the new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé is accompanied by a redesign of the instrument panel. New steering wheels, interior trims and seat upholstery add modern accents to the premium ambience of all model variants.

On the exterior, the sporty profile of the premium mid-range models, which are extremely successful with both all-electric and conventional drive systems, has been sharpened by the redesign of the BMW radiator grille and headlights. In conjunction with the optional adaptive LED headlights, all models also feature exclusive laser rear lights. The range of exterior colours for the BMW i4 and the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé has been extended to include the new Cape York Green metallic and Fire Red metallic variants. New aerodynamic 19-inch and 20-inch wheels are also available.

World premiere: the new MINI Aceman.

With its all-electric drive, progressive crossover proportions and innovative digital features, the new MINI Aceman brings fresh impetus to the premium small car segment. It combines the brand's hallmark agility with creative use of space and high functionality, making it the ideal companion in the city. With four doors and a large tailgate, the MINI Aceman is just over four metres long and offers room for five passengers and plenty of storage space for everyday use and weekend excursions.

As a character in its own right, the MINI Aceman appeals to customers who value the expression of individuality and personality in an urban environment. Its reduced, purist exterior design with clearly defined contours and strong edges is an expression of the new MINI design language "Charismatic Simplicity".

The intelligent interior concept maximises space by cleverly arranging seats and stowage compartments to make the most of the available room. The expressive and colourful interior design is made possible by the use of high-quality materials and innovative technologies such as the 3D knitting process for the textile surfaces. The MINI Interaction Unit with circular OLED display, MINI Experience Modes and dynamic projections on the dashboard and door sills provide a holistic user experience of light, motion, interaction and sound.

• Technology and design update for the all-electric BMW i4 and the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé. Pioneers in the field of locally emission-free driving pleasure and progressive aesthetics in the premium midsize segment now have even greater appeal. Premiere of a new BMW i4 variant with electric all-wheel drive. All combustion-engined variants of the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé now link up as standard with the eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission. Precise modifications for the exterior and interior. Upgraded BMW iDrive with QuickSelect and additional digital services.
• Most successful body variant of the BMW 4 Series range brings new features enhancing sense of sporting elegance. Interior has premium ambience with renewed sophistication; additions to standard equipment, newly structured options list.
• BMW i4 and BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé are trailblazers for BMW’s flexible drive system architecture. Production of all model variants will take place at BMW Group Plant Munich. Worldwide market launch of the new models gets underway in July 2024. The most important sales markets are the USA, Germany, Great Britain and China.
• Front view has increased presence thanks to a newly designed BMW kidney grille with a surface that is half enclosed (BMW i4) / has a mesh structure. Grille surround in matt chrome as standard or Black high-gloss as an option.
• Strikingly designed headlights with a new structure for the LED units. Vertical light sources for the side light, daytime driving light and turn signal indicator functions. New Welcome Light Animation in cars with the optional Comfort Access. Adaptive LED Headlights with non-dazzling matrix high beam, urban lights and exclusive Laserlight rear lights in the style of the BMW M4 CSL can be specified as an option.
• Optional M Sport package and M Performance models with M-specific design features. M Sport package now with rear diffuser element in Black high-gloss and exhaust tailpipes now with larger, 100-millimetre diameter. M Sport package Pro and M Carbon exterior package available ex factory; model-specific BMW M Performance Parts can be specified from the Original BMW Accessories range.
• New Cape York metallic and Fire Red metallic added to the range of exterior paint finishes. Extensive selection of BMW Individual paint finishes and BMW Individual special paint finishes. Additional scope for individualisation thanks to new 19-inch M aerodynamic wheels and 20-inch BMW Individual aerodynamic wheels in double-spoke design.
• Progressive and sporty interior with BMW Curved Display and newly designed steering wheels. Two-spoke steering wheel with polygonal rim and illuminated multifunction buttons as standard. Optional M leather steering wheel in three-spoke design with a flat-bottomed rim and a discreet centre marking in the 12 o’clock position or with a red centre marker and decorative stitching in BMW M colours for the M Performance models. Combustion-engined models now have gearshift paddles on the steering wheel as standard.
• Sport seats in Sensatec perforated are standard. Black seat surfaces in new M Performtex are part of the M Sport package or come as standard in the M Performance models. Optional Vernasca leather upholstery with decorative quilting now also offered in the new bi-colour variant Black/Red. BMW Individual Merino leather trim in three colours can also be specified as an option.
• Instrument panel with reduced number of buttons and controls due to consistent digitalisation. The ventilation and climate control functions and optional seat and steering wheel heating can now be operated by touch via the control display, by voice command and – in the case of the ventilation – using the new adjustment controls for the air vents.
• New interior trim elements in Dark Graphite matt are standard. Optional M Sport package includes interior strips in Aluminium Rhombicle Anthracite.
• Additions to standard specification for the new BMW i4 and new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé also include ambient lighting – with additional contour lighting integrated around the new central seam vents – and the interior and exterior mirror package. Optional instrument panel Luxury in Sensatec with a further refined surface structure. Also new: CraftedClarity glass applications for selected controls.
• Four-door coupé vehicle concept offers a consistent balance of practicality, everyday usability and long-distance capability – with either an electric or a conventional drive system. Five seats and a large, high-opening boot lid; boot capacity of all variants of the BMW i4 and BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé can be expanded from 470 litres to a maximum 1,290 litres.
• Fully electric BMW i4 now available in four model variants. New BMW i4 xDrive40 with electric all-wheel drive, maximum system output of 295 kW/401 hp and a range of 444 – 548 kilometres (276 – 341 miles) in the WLTP cycle. Also in the line-up: the range-topping BMW i4 M50 xDrive, the BMW i4 eDrive40 and the BMW i4 eDrive35.
• Combined Charging Unit for the BMW i4 enables AC charging at a maximum rate of 11 kW and DC charging at up to 205 kW (BMW i4 eDrive35: 180 kW). All variants of the BMW i4 now suitable for Connected Home Charging in the initial group of pilot markets: solar-optimised and load-optimised charging are possible, likewise (as the scheme expands further) cost-optimised charging using a dynamic electricity tariff. Plug & Charge Multi Contract enables convenient charging mid-journey.
• New BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé available with a variety of engines. Range includes the 275 kW/374 hp six-cylinder in-line petrol engine in the BMW M440i xDrive Gran Coupé, plus two four-cylinder petrol engines, a six-cylinder in-line diesel unit and a four-cylinder diesel. The six-cylinder in-line engines and the four-cylinder diesel unit have 48V mild hybrid technology. Eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission standard for all engine variants. Engine power is transferred to the road either via classical rear-wheel drive or the BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system, depending on the model.
• New BMW i4 and new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé display the brand’s familiar sporty handling and well resolved driving characteristics at all times thanks to model-specific tuning for the chassis technology. Electromechanical steering with Servotronic function, an integrated braking system and near-actuator wheel slip limitation all come as standard. M Sport suspension, adaptive M suspension with variable sport steering and M Sport brakes can be added to models equipped with the M Sport package. BMW i4 is equipped as standard with rear air suspension.
• Extensive selection of assistance systems for safe and comfortable driving and parking. Standard equipment includes Speed Limit Info, front collision warning, Parking Assistant, Reversing Assist Camera and the Reversing Assistant. Driving Assistant Professional with Steering and Lane Control Assistant and Active Cruise Control with Stop&Go function, plus Parking Assistant Plus available as options.
• Standard equipment for the new BMW i4 and new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé includes BMW iDrive with QuickSelect based on BMW Operating System 8.5. Intuitive and user-friendly operation via touch on the control display and natural language. New home screen with vertically arranged function symbols on a single level. QuickSelect rapid access enables direct selection of functions without having to enter submenus. Menu bar at the lower edge of the control display now also allows direct access to climate control functions. BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant now offers additional languages and new graphics.
• Standard BMW Live Cockpit Plus with cloud-based BMW Maps navigation system. Optimised and precise charging-optimised route guidance for the BMW i4 is unique in this segment. Optional BMW Live Cockpit Professional additionally includes the BMW Head-Up Display and Augmented View on the control display or instrument cluster.
• Simplified initial sign-in in the vehicle and synchronisation with the BMW ID by scanning a QR code with a smartphone. My BMW App enables overview of the vehicle status and various remote functions. It is also possible to control the charging process and pre-conditioning for the BMW i4 via the My BMW App.

In het segment van de prestigieuze middenklassers staat het nummer 4 voor de perfecte combinatie van rijplezier en sportieve elegantie. Die typische merkwaarden staan al sinds de beginjaren centraal bij BMW en de nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Coupé en nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Cabrio belichamen ze sterker dan ooit. Het vakkundig hertekende koetswerk zet het dynamische karakter en de exclusieve stijl van beide modellen nog extra in de verf. Moderne accenten en nieuwe uitrustingskenmerken geven het interieur de luxueuze sfeer van een opgewaardeerde verfijning. Het baanbrekende cockpitdesign met BMW Curved Display vormt de ideale achtergrond voor de nieuwste evolutie van BMW's iDrive met QuickSelect, die steunt op het nieuwe BMW besturingssysteem 8.5.

Nieuwe koetswerkkleuren en lichtmetalen velgen, koplampen met een uiterst opvallend design voor de lichtbronnen en de nu als optie verkrijgbare Laserlight-achterlichten zijn de jongste innovaties in het koetswerkdesign van beide modellen. De nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Coupé en de nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Cabrio worden nog steeds gebouwd in de BMW Group-fabriek van Dingolfing, tevens de bakermat van vele andere directie- en luxewagens van het merk, evenals de sportwagen BMW 8 Reeks en de performante BMW M4-modellen. Zijn wereldwijde marktlancering zal in maart 2024 van start gaan.

De wereldwijde segmentaanvoerders scherpen het sportieve profiel van het merk BMW aan.

De evolutie van het BMW 4 Reeks-gamma is verankerd in de productinhoud waaraan het model zijn uitzonderlijke populariteit op alle grote automarkten dankt. In markten die worden gedomineerd door Duitse prestigemerken, genieten de coupé en cabrio een duidelijke voorsprong in hun respectieve segmenten, zowel wereldwijd als op hun voornaamste individuele markten.

De grootste afzetmarkten voor de nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Coupé en nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Cabrio zijn de VS, Duitsland en China. Sinds de marktlancering van de huidige modelgeneratie van de BMW 4 Reeks Coupé, was de vraag vanuit Amerika het grootst. Ook de BMW 4 Reeks Cabrio was tot nu toe het populairst in de VS.

Dat verkoopsucces gaat gepaard met een buitengewoon hoge klantentevredenheid. In klantenenquêtes krijgen zowel de BMW 4 Reeks Coupé als de BMW 4 Reeks Cabrio een uitstekende score. Klanten legden de nadruk op de dynamische rijeigenschappen en het emotioneel rijke design van beide modellen, maar ook op het hoogwaardige gevoel van de gekozen materialen en de bouwkwaliteit. Door dergelijke positieve reacties van klanten aan te trekken, hebben de modellen van de BMW 4 Reeks in aanzienlijke mate bijgedragen aan de verdere versterking van BMW's profiel van een constructeur van uitzonderlijk dynamische, elegante en sportieve luxewagens.

Opvallende karakters met een gedeelde focus op rijplezier.

Voor de voorbije twee modelgeneraties heeft BMW zijn middelgrote prestigecoupés en -cabrio's gegroepeerd in hun eigen modelgamma. Dat benadrukt hun bijzonder intense focus op het rijplezier waarvoor het merk bekend staat. Qua design beperkt het onderscheid tussen de modellen van de nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks en de BMW 3 Reeks zich niet tot hun proporties en lijnen. Ook hun specifieke neus draagt ertoe bij. Daarnaast leggen hun bredere sporen en specifieke afstelling voor de ondersteltechnologie de basis voor een superieure, dynamische kracht. Binnen het BMW 4 Reeks-gamma vertegenwoordigen de coupé en cabrio verschillende karakters met individuele voertuigconcepten die specifieke klemtonen leggen.

De BMW 4 Reeks Coupé combineert zijn dynamische, vloeiende lijnen en elegante, gestrekte proporties met een koetswerk dat geoptimaliseerd werd voor een grotere wendbaarheid en een uitzonderlijke torsiestijfheid. Ook het onderstel staat geheel in het teken van dynamische uitmuntendheid. De achterbank, die is ontworpen voor twee passagiers, laat de inzittenden achterin optimaal genieten van de intense rijervaring. Ze is in drie delen neerklapbaar om de veelzijdigheid van het interieur te verhogen wanneer men omvangrijke vrijetijdsvoorwerpen vervoert of langere reizen maakt.

In de BMW 4 Reeks Cabrio kunnen de inzittenden van de vier zetels dan weer proeven van de sportieve rijervaring van de 4 Reeks en het plezier van open rijden. Het bijzonder stijlvolle gevoel van elegantie, dat voornamelijk te danken is aan het lage silhouet van de auto, is eveneens standaard. Een specifieke blikvanger van de BMW 4 Reeks Cabrio is het vouwdak met gebogen beugel, dat de stevigheid van een wegklapbare hardtop combineert met de klassieke esthetiek van een stoffen kap. Het elektrische aandrijfmechanisme van het dak kan worden geactiveerd bij snelheden tot 50 km/u. Het openen en sluiten duurt 18 seconden.

Stappen om de koolstofvoetafdruk van het bedrijf verder te verkleinen.

Uiterst efficiënte motoren, een uitgekiend, licht design en geoptimaliseerde aerodynamische eigenschappen dragen in belangrijke mate bij tot het rijplezier van de nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Coupé en nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Cabrio, en verlagen tegelijk het brandstofverbruik en de emissies. Ondertussen scherpt de 'mild hybrid'-technologie met 48V-batterij de vermogensontplooiing van bepaalde modellen aan en verhoogt ze tegelijk de efficiëntie. Naast de motorkap, de zijpanelen en de deuren zijn ook talrijke chassisonderdelen gemaakt van aluminium. En met een C_d van 0,25 in het geval van de coupé en 0,27 in het geval van de cabrio kunnen beide modellen een indrukwekkende luchtweerstandscoëfficiënt naar voren schuiven.

De sportzetels van de nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Coupé zijn bekleed met M Performtex – de eerste keer dat dit oppervlaktemateriaal beschikbaar is in de modellen van het merk – als onderdeel van een nieuw productieproces dat minder CO₂-uitstoot genereert. De nieuwe EfficiencyCoach in de My BMW-app geeft nuttige tips om efficiënter te rijden. Daartoe analyseert de assistent de verbruikscijfers en vergelijkt hij ze met de cijfers van de voorbije maand en die van andere bestuurders in de gemeenschap met vergelijkbare motoren. Vervolgens gebruikt hij deze informatie als basis om aanbevelingen te geven voor een efficiënter rijgedrag.

Om een nog duurzamer totaalconcept te creëren, wordt steeds meer belang gehecht aan het gebruik van secundaire grondstoffen, naast een verder geoptimaliseerd gebruik van materialen en energiezuinigere productiemethoden. Voor BMW zijn de twee merkdoelstellingen – meer duurzaamheid en hoogwaardige normen – onlosmakelijk met elkaar verbonden, eerder dan tegenstrijdige factoren.

BMW Group zet zich niet alleen onvermoeibaar in om de efficiëntie van zijn wagens te optimaliseren, maar engageert zich ook voor het Klimaatakkoord van Parijs. De groep werkt ook samen met het gerenommeerde Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) om CO₂e-reductiedoelstellingen voor zijn toeleveringsketen, productie en gebruiksfase in te voeren in het kader van zijn streven naar klimaatneutraliteit. Centraal in de ambitieuze duurzaamheidsdoelstellingen van de onderneming staat de doelstelling om de CO₂-uitstoot tegen 2030 met 40 procent per voertuig te verminderen in de hele waardeketen, in vergelijking met het cijfer van 2019. Tegelijkertijd streeft BMW Group ernaar om tegen uiterlijk 2050 in zijn hele waardeketen volledig klimaatneutraal te zijn.

Exterieurdesign. Opvallende visuele hints laten geen twijfel bestaan over de boeiende dynamiek.

Sportieve kracht en elegantie zijn de belangrijkste thema’s die op authentieke wijze tot uiting komen in het design van de BMW 4 Reeks-modellen. Gerichte aanpassingen aan het koetswerkdesign maken het voor de nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Coupé en nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Cabrio mogelijk om hun unieke karakters nog duidelijker uit te spelen. De nieuwe kenmerken scherpen het profiel van beide modellen aan en bieden opvallende aanwijzingen voor hun boeiende dynamiek, exclusiviteit en technologische vooruitgang.

Met hun opvallende lijnen en zuivere oppervlakteafwerking, die aansluiten bij de moderne designtaal van het merk, ademen de coupé en cabrio van het BMW 4 Reeks-gamma rijplezier en een onnavolgbare stijl. De kenmerken van het optionele M Sport-pakket zetten de dynamische uitstraling van de wagen nog extra kracht bij. Ze omvatten een diffuserelement in het onderste deel van de achterbumper, dat nu in hoogglanzend zwart is gelakt. Bovendien zagen de uitlaatpijpen links en rechts in de achterschort hun diameter toenemen van 90 tot 100 millimeter. Als uitbreiding op het M Sport-pakket kunnen klanten hun wagen ook bestellen met het M Sport-pakket Pro en het M Carbon-exterieurpakket.

Nieuw ontworpen koplampen, innovatieve Laserlight-achterlichten.

Een van de specifieke designelementen van de BMW 4 Reeks is de visueel krachtige voorkant, gevormd door de fijne led-koplampen en de verticaal geplaatste BMW-nieren. De luchtinlaten van het opvallende, naar voren gekantelde radiatorrooster hebben een roosterstructuur, zowel in de standaarduitvoering als met het M Sport-pakket. Hun rand is nu verkrijgbaar in mat chroom.

De nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Coupé en de nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Cabrio beschikken ook over visueel en functioneel opgewaardeerde koplampen. De led-modules in hun binnenwerk, die alle lichtfuncties verzekeren, werden hertekend en kregen een nieuwe structuur. De dim- en grootlichten worden gegenereerd door een enkele led-module. Een paar verticale en subtiel pijlvormige led-eenheden herbergen daarnaast de zijlichten, de dagrijlichten en de richtingaanwijzers. De technisch gefocuste look van de nieuwe lichtbronnen geeft de koplampen een hoogwaardige en progressieve look.

Adaptieve led-koplampen met niet-verblindende matrixgrootlichten zijn als optie verkrijgbaar. Ze zijn herkenbaar aan hun blauwe inleg en omvatten stadslichten en een bochtverlichting. De prismastructuur van de led-eenheden voor de stadslichten vormt een opvallend contrast met de gelijkmatige verlichting van de dagrijlichten.

Eveneens beschikbaar als onderdeel van het M Sport-pakket Pro of indien de Adaptive Led Headlights worden besteld, zijn de M Shadowline-lichten met donkere accenten binnenin. Als de optionele Comforttoegang is voorzien, genereren de koplampen bovendien een welkomstanimatie zodra de bestuurder en de autosleutel zich binnen drie meter van de auto bevinden.

Wanneer de nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Coupé of nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Cabrio is uitgerust met Adaptive Led Headlights, beschikt hij ook over bijzonder expressieve Laserlight-achterlichten. Deze modelspecifieke versie van het innovatieve lichteffect maakt gebruik van een technologie die voor het eerst te zien was in de BMW M4 CSL high-performance special edition, waarvan een beperkte oplage van 1.000 exemplaren werd geproduceerd. Daarbij verlichten laserdioden elk een glasvezelbundel, waardoor de achterunits een complexe lichtgrafiek krijgen. De uitgekiende lijnen van het driedimensionale Laserlight geven deze achterlichten – die hun debuut maken in een seriemodel – een exclusief en onmiskenbaar design.

Nieuwe koetswerkkleuren en lichtmetalen velgen.

Klanten kunnen het koetswerk van hun nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Coupé en nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Cabrio een persoonlijke toets geven met keuze uit twee niet-metaalkleuren en acht metaalkleuren. Cape York Green metallic en Fire Red metallic zijn nieuw in het gamma. Er wordt ook een brede waaier aan BMW Individual-lakafwerkingen en speciale BMW Individual-lakafwerkingen aangeboden.

Andere aantrekkelijke nieuwigheden zijn de optionele lichtmetalen velgen. De nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Coupé en de nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Cabrio worden allebei voor het eerst aangeboden met drie nieuwe 19"-designs. De nieuwe lichtmetalen BMW M-velgen in dubbelspaakdesign zijn te bestellen in Jet Black of in een tweekleurige uitvoering. De nieuwe lichtmetalen BMW Individual-velgen hebben van hun kant een Y-spakendesign en zijn afgewerkt in Midnight Grey.

Interieur en uitrusting. Progressieve stijl en een aura van zorgvuldig geperfectioneerde verfijning.

De standaard gemonteerde sportzetels en nieuw ontworpen stuurwielen dragen bij tot de intense rijervaring van de nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Coupé en nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Cabrio. Het grote BMW Curved Display geeft een frisse en bijzonder moderne interpretatie van de bestuurdergerichte cockpit waarvoor het merk bekend staat. De hoogwaardige, minutieus vervaardigde materialen en het nieuwe bedieningsconcept voor de verluchting en airconditioning dragen bij tot de hoogwaardige uitstraling van de cockpit. De aanpassingen aan het interieur van de nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Coupé en de nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Cabrio laten de inzittenden van het rijplezier genieten met een progressieve stijl en een langeafstandscomfort in een sfeer van zorgvuldig verfijnd raffinement.

Een van de baanbrekende nieuwigheden is een versie van de optionele zeteloppervlakken die debuteert in de nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Coupé en die met duurzamere methoden wordt geproduceerd. Daarnaast zijn er nieuwe sierlijsten verkrijgbaar voor zowel de coupé als de cabrio. De standaarduitrusting omvat voortaan ook sfeerverlichting en elektrisch inklapbare buitenspiegels. Het gamma optionele uitrusting werd geherstructureerd om een bijzonder doelgerichte personalisering mogelijk te maken.

Nieuwe stuurwielen met standaard schakelhendels.

De nieuwste stuurwielen van de nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Coupé en nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Cabrio onderscheiden zich door hun moderne en sportieve design. Standaard krijgt de bestuurder een nieuw ontworpen lederen sportstuur met een meerhoekige velg en twee spaken. Het M Sport-pakket omvat voortaan een driespakig lederen M-stuur met vlakke onderkant en discrete middenmarkering.

Beide versies van de nieuw ontworpen stuurwielen hebben verlichte multifunctionele knoppen en schakelhendels. De schakelhendels, die nu standaard worden gemonteerd, maken bijzonder snelle manuele ingrepen in het schakelproces mogelijk en onderstrepen het scherpere, sportieve profiel van de nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks-modellen.

Detailwijzigingen voor het instrumentenbord, digitale klimaatregeling.

De introductie van de opgewaardeerde BMW iDrive met QuickSelect verbetert ook de werking van de ventilatie en klimaatregeling in de nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Coupé en de nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Cabrio. Dat geeft perfect weer welke voordelen een geavanceerde digitalisering biedt en draagt bij tot de verdere afname van het aantal fysieke knoppen en bedieningselementen in de cockpit. De temperatuurinstelling, de intensiteit van de ventilatie en – als de relevante functies zijn besteld – de zetel- en stuurverwarming kunnen nu worden ingesteld via het BMW Curved Display of met gesproken commando's met behulp van de BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant. Met nieuwe regelknoppen voor de ventilatieroosters in het midden van het instrumentenbord en aan de bestuurders- en passagierszijde van de cockpit kan de luchtstroomrichting worden aangepast met roterende en kantelende bewegingen. Klanten die de optionele Sensatec-afwerking voor het instrumentenbord bestellen, krijgen voortaan een verder verfijnde oppervlaktestructuur die de moderne, hoogwaardige sfeer van het interieur nog meer in de verf zet.

De standaard sfeerverlichting in de nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Coupé en de nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Cabrio omvat nu ook contourverlichting die in de bekleding rond de ventilatieroosters aan de centrale naad is geïntegreerd. Net als de verlichting van de voetruimtes, het opbergvak in het voorste deel van de middenconsole en de deuropeners kunnen kleur en helderheid daarvan worden aangepast volgens de persoonlijke voorkeuren van gebruikers. Zij kunnen daarbij kiezen uit negen kleuren. De functionaliteit van de interieurverlichting omvat ook een sfeervolle ‘Welcome’- en ‘Goodbye’-animatie, evenals lichtsignalen die aangeven dat er een deur open staat of een telefoonoproep binnenkomt.

M Performtex-zetelhoezen beleven première in de nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Coupé.

De standaard gemonteerde sportzetels gaan naadloos samen met de interieuroppervlakken in geperforeerd Sensatec. De lederen bekleding Vernasca met decoratieve quiltafwerking, die als optie verkrijgbaar is voor de nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Coupé en de nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Cabrio wordt nu ook aangeboden in de nieuwe tweekleurige variant Black/Red. Beide modellen zijn ook leverbaar met het BMW Individual-leder Merino in drie verschillende kleuren.

Bij bestelling van het M Sport-pakket of de M Performance-uitvoering is de nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Coupé voorzien van zittingen in zwart M Performtex. Deze veloursbekleding, die voor het eerst verkrijgbaar is bij BMW, combineert een hoge materiaalkwaliteit met een sportief design, een laag gewicht en een duurzamere productiemethode.

Nieuwe sierlijsten, exclusieve accenten met CraftedClarity.

Ook de beschikbare sierlijsten werden grondig herzien. Dark Graphite matt is nu standaard voor de nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Coupé en de nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Cabrio. Het M Sport-pakket omvat sierlijsten in Aluminium Rhombicle Anthracite. Voorts omvat de optielijst Fineline Light Open-Pored en Grey Blue Ash Open-Pored Fine-Wood en M Interior Trim Carbon Fibre.

Dankzij het gebruik van uiterst hoogwaardige materialen kunnen ook in andere delen van het interieur opvallende accenten worden aangebracht om zijn moderne, hoogwaardige karakter te versterken. Voor de nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Coupé en de nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Cabrio zijn gegalvaniseerde toepassingen beschikbaar voor het bedieningspaneel in de deuren, waaronder de ruitbediening en de vergrendelingsschakelaar. Ook kunnen klanten CraftedClarity-glastoepassingen bestellen – nog een nieuwigheid op de optielijst. Die geven de versnellingshendel, de BMW iDrive Controller en de Start/Stop-knop een bijzonder exclusieve uitstraling, zowel visueel als tactiel.

Krachtbron en rijervaring.Krachtig, efficiënt en uiterst zelfverzekerd.

Het gamma aandrijflijnen voor de nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks omvat krachtige en uiterst efficiënte benzine- en dieselmotoren met BMW TwinPower Turbo-technologie en elektrificering in de vorm van 'mild hybrid'-technologie met 48V-batterij. Alle aandrijfgehelen bieden een uitzonderlijke mix van sportief rijplezier en zuinigheid. Stuk voor stuk maken ze deel uit van de huidige generatie moduleerbare Efficient Dynamics-motoren en worden ze standaard gekoppeld aan de sportieve Steptronic-achttrapsautomaat. De schakelhendels aan het stuur, die eveneens standaard zijn in de nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Coupé en nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Cabrio, maken snelle manuele ingrepen in het schakelproces mogelijk en dragen zo bij tot de dynamische rijervaring.

De zescilinder-in-lijnmotoren zijn te vinden onder de motorkap van de M Performance-versies van beide modelreeksen (zie afzonderlijk hoofdstuk), maar ook in de nieuwe BMW 430d xDrive Coupé en BMW 430d Cabrio met een 210 kW/286 pk sterke dieselmotor. Daarnaast omvat het gamma ook twee viercilinder-benzinemotoren die respectievelijk 135 kW/184 pk en 180 kW/245 pk ontwikkelen, alsook een viercilinder-dieselmotor met 140 kW/190 pk. Naargelang de modelvariant wordt dat vermogen via een klassieke achterwielaandrijving of de intelligente BMW xDrive-vierwielaandrijving overgebracht op de weg.

Mild hybrid-technologie optimaliseert de vermogensontplooiing en efficiëntie.

Alle zescilinder-in-lijnmotoren die beschikbaar zijn voor de nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Coupé en nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Cabrio, worden net als de viercilinder-dieselmotor geleverd met 'mild hybrid'-technologie met 48V-batterij voor een snedigere vermogensontplooiing en meer efficiëntie. De elektrische hulpaandrijving heeft de vorm van een 48V-startgenerator en maakt het vermogen van 8 kW/11 pk onmiddellijk beschikbaar als reactie op de geringste beweging van het gaspedaal. Deze elektrische boost verbetert de dynamische respons van het aandrijfsysteem bij acceleraties vanuit stilstand en bij hernemingen vanaf middelhoge toerentallen. De elektrische aandrijving ondersteunt de verbrandingsmotor ook bij constante snelheden, zodat die laatste zo vaak mogelijk binnen zijn optimale belastingbereik kan werken.

Het ‘mild hybrid’-systeem maakt het bovendien mogelijk om via ‘Brake Energy Regeneration’ elektrische energie te recupereren, die dan wordt opgeslagen in de 48V-batterij. De energie die op die manier efficiënt wordt geoogst, wordt niet alleen gebruikt voor de elektrische hulpaandrijving, maar ook gevoed aan het elektrische 12V-systeem met behulp van een spanningstransformator. Zo kunnen de stroomverbruikers van het voertuig nog efficiënter worden gevoed.

Specifieke chassistechnologie voor een sportieve rijervaring.

Een uitstekende koetswerkstijfheid, een intelligent licht design, een gelijkmatige gewichtsverdeling (50:50) en geoptimaliseerde aerodynamische eigenschappen vormen de ideale basis om de nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Coupé en nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Cabrio een opmerkelijk wendbaar en dynamisch rijgedrag te geven. Dat wordt nog ondersteund door de gesofistikeerde chassistechnologie, die nauwkeurig werd afgestemd op de gewichtsverdeling.

Liftgerelateerde schokdempers verfijnen het evenwicht tussen fascinerende sportieve prestaties en een superieur langeafstandscomfort. Er zijn verschillende opties beschikbaar om het karakter van de wagen te personaliseren, waaronder de M Sport-ophanging, de adaptieve M-ophanging met variabel sportstuur en de M Sport-remmen.

Een brede waaier aan systemen voor autonoom rijden en parkeren.

Het gamma systemen voor geautomatiseerd rijden en parkeren is al even uitgebreid. De nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Coupé en nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Cabrio zijn standaard uitgerust met een botswaarschuwing vooraan met reminterventie, een snelheidsregelaar met remfunctie, Speed Limit Info met 'niet inhalen'-indicator, een manuele snelheidslimietassistent en Lane Departure Warning met tegenstuurfunctie. Het optionele Driving Assistant Professional-pakket omvat de stuur- en rijstrookassistent, de actieve snelheidsregelaar met Stop&Go-functie, de automatische snelheidslimietassistent, de snelheidscontrole en de verkeerslichtherkenning.

Ook Park Distance Control met sensoren voor- en achteraan behoort tot de standaarduitrusting. De Parking Assistant, die eveneens standaard is, maakt het mogelijk om automatisch in en uit parkeerplaatsen te manoeuvreren. Hij omvat ook een achteruitrijcamera en Reversing Assistant. De optionele Park Assist Plus-functies Park View, Panorama View en Remote 3D View zijn eveneens beschikbaar.

De M Performance-modellen in de nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks. Opvallende karakters bovenaan het modellengamma.

De nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Coupé en nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Cabrio worden aangevoerd door sportieve elitemodellen die in de bekende M-mal gegoten zijn. De prestatiegerichte wagens van BMW M GmbH vertalen het dynamische potentieel van de voertuigconcepten van de BMW 4 Reeks in een indrukwekkend effect. Uiterst krachtige zescilinder-in-lijnmotoren, een specifieke afstelling voor het onderstel en typische M-designelementen, zowel aan de binnen- als aan de buitenkant, onderscheiden ze van de andere versies.

De M Performance-modellen van de BMW 4 Reeks zijn verkrijgbaar met zowel benzine- als dieselmotoren, elk met een cilinderinhoud van 3,0 liter. De M-typische prestatie-eigenschappen van deze zescilinders-in-lijn worden onder meer ondersteund door de nieuwste M TwinPower Turbo-technologie, die individueel op de motor is afgestemd. Een ander gemeenschappelijk kenmerk is de 'mild hybrid'-technologie met 48V-batterij, die met haar vermogen van 8 kW/11 pk een elektrische boost produceert die de motoren een nog snedigere respons geeft.

De zescilinder-in-lijn in de benzinemodellen BMW M440i xDrive Coupé en BMW M440i xDrive Cabrio levert een maximumvermogen van 275 kW/374 pk en een maximumkoppel van 500 Nm. De dieselversies BMW M440d xDrive Coupé en BMW M440d xDrive Cabrio worden dan weer aangedreven door een zescilinder-in-lijn met een maximumvermogen van 250 kW/340 pk en een maximumkoppel van 700 Nm. Deze topmodellen beschikken standaard over de M Sport-ophanging met Variable Sport Steering, alsook over de sportieve Steptronic-achttrapsautomaat met ultrasnedige schakelovergangen, de M Sport-remmen en het M Sport-differentieel.

Nieuwe BMW-nieren, standaard zwarte uitlaateindpijpen.

Een reeks selecte designaccenten getuigt nog opvallender van het dynamische karakter van de M Performance-modellen. Zo is de nieuwe editie van deze modellen voorzien van BMW-nieren met een omlijsting in zwarte hoogglans en horizontale spijlen met een M-logo. Alle elementen in de voorbumperschort, die vroeger in Cerium Grey waren afgewerkt, zijn nu uitgevoerd in zwarte hoogglans. Zo herinnert het uiterlijk van de modellen aan de voorzijde nog meer aan het design van de BMW M4 high-performance sportwagens.

Achteraan laat de trapeziumvormige uitlaatpijp van de M Performance-modellen geen twijfel bestaan over de aanwezigheid van een ultrakrachtige motor. Ze zijn nu standaard uitgevoerd in hoogglanzend zwart, zodat alle elementen van de optionele hoogglanzende M Shadowline-afwerking al in de standaarduitrusting van deze modellen zijn inbegrepen.

Exclusieve accenten: M-buitenspiegelbehuizingen, diffuser in koolstofvezel.

Het optionele M Carbon-exterieurpakket omvat buitenspiegelbehuizingen en inzetstukken voor de buitenste luchtinlaten uit met koolstofvezel versterkte kunststof (CFRP). De nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Coupé heeft ook een Gurney-achterspoiler in koolstofvezel. Sportzetels in de nieuwe bekleding M Performtex voor de Coupé en Vernasca-leder voor de Cabrio, interieurelementen in Aluminium Rhombicle Anthracite, M-deurdrempels, M-pedalen, een M-voetsteun voor de bestuurder en M-specifieke grafische elementen voor het BMW Curved Display kenmerken de opvallende uitstraling van de M Performance-modellen. De M-sportzetels in Vernasca-leder zijn als optie verkrijgbaar voor de topversies van de nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Coupé en zijn verkrijgbaar in zwart met blauw contrasterend quiltmotief of in de nieuwe tweekleurige afwerking Black/Coral Red.

Een nieuwe versie van het lederen M-stuur tilt het sportwagengevoel in het topmodel naar een nog hoger niveau. De vlakke onderzijde, de rode middenmarkering en de contrasterende naden in de kleuren van BMW M GmbH helpen de rijervaring aan boord van de M Performance-versies van de nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks nog meeslepender te maken.

Ook de vooruitgang op het vlak van digitalisering is duidelijk te zien in de nieuwste editie van de BMW 4 Reeks. Dat is voornamelijk te danken aan het opgewaardeerde BMW iDrive-display en het bedieningssysteem met QuickSelect op basis van het BMW Operating System 8.5. Om een intuïtieve, eenvoudige bediening voor tal van functies aan te bieden, alsook
toegang tot innovatieve digitale diensten, beschikt de nieuwste generatie van de BMW iDrive in de nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Coupé en nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Cabrio over een hertekend startscherm en QuickSelect-technologie voor een snelle toegang, met een verbeterde menustructuur die inspiratie put uit consumentenelektronica.

De verbeterde BMW iDrive met QuickSelect wordt samen met het BMW Curved Display en de BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant geleverd, wat betekent dat hij zorgvuldig werd afgestemd op bediening via het aanraakscherm en natuurlijke taal. Het nieuwe startscherm van het BMW Operating System 8.5 geeft steeds de kaarten van het navigatiesysteem of andere individueel configureerbare grafische elementen weer op het controlescherm. Op hetzelfde niveau verschijnen widgets in een verticale opstelling aan de bestuurderszijde van het display. Zo kunnen bestuurders met een verticale veegbeweging van de vinger overschakelen tussen deze widgets. Met de QuickSelect-functie kan de op deze manier geselecteerde functie rechtstreeks worden geactiveerd zonder een submenu in te voeren. En zodra de relevante instellingen zijn gekozen, volstaat een snelle tik op het home-pictogram onderaan het bedieningsscherm om terug te keren naar het startscherm. Naast het startpictogram vindt u nu ook pictogrammen die u rechtstreeks toegang geven tot het menu van de airconditioning, het menu Alle Apps en, indien geactiveerd, Apple CarPlay^® en Android Auto™.

De nieuwe vlakke menustructuur maakt het veel eenvoudiger om de gewenste functies en instellingen te activeren. De digitale inhoud is – net als de hardware in de vorm van het BMW Curved Display – ontworpen om de bestuurdergerichtheid waarvoor BMW bekend staat, te verbeteren.

BMW Maps-navigatiesysteem nu met Augmented View.

Het cloudondersteunde navigatiesysteem BMW Maps maakt deel uit van de standaard BMW Live Cockpit Plus. Met de introductie van het BMW Operating System 8.5 in de nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Coupé en de nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Cabrio maakt het systeem het nu nog eenvoudiger om bestemmingen in te voeren en kan het bijkomende informatie geven tijdens het rijden.

Nieuw is ook de functie 'Augmented View', die net als het BMW Head-Up Display beschikbaar is met de optionele BMW Live Cockpit Professional. Die vult de kaartweergave van het navigatiesysteem aan door een live videostream van het bestuurdersuitzicht op het bedieningsscherm of het instrumentenbord weer te geven en dit te verrijken met tips en informatie die passen bij de context. Aan verwarrende kruispunten bijvoorbeeld wordt een geanimeerde richtingspijl geïntegreerd in het videobeeld om de bestuurder te helpen de beste afslag voor de geplande route te nemen. De functie Augmented View kan de bestuurder ook helpen om een parkeerplaats te vinden door aanvullende informatie weer te geven.

Personalisering met de BMW ID en My BMW-app.

Bestuurders van de nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Coupé en nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Cabrio kunnen hun BMW ID ook gemakkelijker gebruiken om de gebruikerservaring te personaliseren. Voortaan volstaat het om met een smartphone een QR-code te scannen om het persoonlijke profiel van de klant te importeren, synchroniseerbare instellingen te laden en de sleutel die in de wagen wordt gedetecteerd automatisch te koppelen aan de BMW ID.

De wagen wordt ook aan de My BMW-app toegevoegd zonder dat de klant iets hoeft te doen. De My BMW-app is gratis beschikbaar in de app stores voor zowel iOS als Android en fungeert als een universele digitale interface die op elk moment informatie geeft over de status van de wagen, bijvoorbeeld wat het resterende rijbereik en eventuele service- en onderhoudsvereisten betreft. Naargelang de specificaties van de wagen biedt het ook de mogelijkheid om bepaalde functies vanop afstand te bedienen: de wagen lokaliseren, de deuren vergrendelen en ontgrendelen of de onmiddellijke omgeving en het interieur van de wagen monitoren met Remote View. De My BMW-app kan tevens worden gebruikt om adressen van een smartphone naar het navigatiesysteem van de wagen te verzenden. De functie My Trips, inclusief Efficiency Trainer en maandelijkse beoordeling, verschaft de gebruiker gegevens en evaluaties voor afgelegde afstanden, brandstofverbruik en gemiddelde snelheid.

Optimale connectiviteit met Personal eSIM en 5G-standaard voor mobiele communicatie.

Klanten van de nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Coupé en de nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Cabrio kunnen standaard de Personal eSIM activeren,
als aanvulling op de ingebouwde mobiele simkaart van de wagen. Zo kan de wagen de 5G-norm voor mobiele communicatie gebruiken. De persoonlijke eSIM-kaart stelt de klant in staat om de communicatie- en connectiviteitsfuncties die gedekt worden door zijn mobiele contract met de auto eenvoudig te gebruiken, zelfs in situaties waarin hij zijn smartphone niet bij zich heeft. Daaronder valt ook het streamen van data via de wifi-hotspot.

Een stralingsarme verbinding met de buitenantenne van de wagen wordt gebruikt om te telefoneren en gegevens te streamen via de Personal eSIM. Alle telefoonfuncties kunnen worden bediend met het BMW iDrive systeem of de BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant. De persoonlijke eSIM kan worden gebruikt in alle landen waar BMW Connected Drive-diensten beschikbaar zijn. Het breidt het bestaande gsm-contract van de klant uit, wat extra kosten met zich kan meebrengen.

Parkeerkosten en brandstofrekeningen kunnen rechtstreeks vanuit het voertuig worden betaald.

In veel Europese landen stelt de BMW ID bestuurders van de nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Coupé en BMW 4 Reeks Cabrio in staat om parkeerkosten rechtstreeks vanuit hun wagen te betalen. Het voertuig detecteert automatisch of de dienst beschikbaar is bij aankomst in een parkeerzone en geeft de betalingsfunctie weer als de zone wordt gedekt door een van de verbonden aanbieders. De parkeerplaats kan snel en eenvoudig worden betaald met de creditcard die is geregistreerd in de My BMW-app. De reservering eindigt automatisch wanneer het voertuig de parkeerplaats weer verlaat.

Bovendien kunnen Duitse bestuurders ook de brandstofrekeningen van hun auto digitaal betalen na het tanken bij deelnemende tankstations. Net als bij de betaaldienst voor parkeergeld gebeurt dit met de kredietkaartgegevens die voorheen geregistreerd werden in de voertuig-app.

BMW M Performance Parts. Vrucht van de bewezen expertise in de autosport.

Meer dan ooit onderscheidt de onnavolgbare combinatie van rijplezier en elegant sportief design van de nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks zich van de massa in het segment van de prestigieuze middenklassers. Het voertuigconcept dat aan de basis ligt van de nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Coupé en de nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Cabrio biedt een buitengewoon potentieel voor superieure rijeigenschappen. En nu zijn de nieuwste upgrades voor het koetswerk en interieur beschikbaar om hun dynamische karakter nog intenser in de verf te zetten. Munich. For the third time in a row, BMW M GmbH ended the financial year as the global market leader in the performance and high-performance car segment. Indeed, the company posted record sales once again in 2021. A total of 163,542 BMW M cars were delivered to customers worldwide last year, a 13 percent increase on 2020.

This growth was spread equally between the High-Performance sports cars and Performance cars made by BMW M GmbH, with both product categories raising their sales figures to a new level. “This success is the perfect start to our anniversary year,” says Franciscus van Meel, CEO of BMW M GmbH. “M is in a stronger position than ever as it celebrates its 50th birthday.”

New BMW M3 and new BMW M4 enjoy immediate success.

The biggest drivers of growth among the High-Performance sports cars were the new BMW M3 and BMW M4 models introduced in spring 2021. Fuelled by a vehicle concept focused squarely on emotionally charged dynamism and unprecedented diversity in the model range, the new BMW M3 Sedan (fuel consumption combined: 10.2 – 10.0 l/100 km [27.7 – 28.3 mpg imp]; CO₂ emissions combined: 231 – 227 g/km as per WLTP), new BMW M4 Coupé (fuel consumption combined: 10.1 – 9.9 l/100 km [28.0 – 28.5 mpg imp]; CO₂ emissions combined: 230 – 226 g/km as per WLTP) and new BMW M4 Convertible (fuel consumption combined: 10.2 l/100 km [27.7 mpg imp]; CO₂ emissions combined: 233 – 231 g/km as per WLTP) got off to an extremely successful start. The latest model generation is the first to offer customers two output levels topping out at 375 kW/510 hp, the M xDrive all-wheel-drive system and a choice of either a six-speed manual gearbox or the eight-speed M Steptronic transmission.

“The response to the new generation of the BMW M3 and BMW M4 has been simply overwhelming,” reports Timo Resch, Vice President Customer, Brand and Sales at BMW M GmbH. “We can therefore expect demand for these iconic sports cars to continue on an upward curve in 2022.”

Also making a powerful contribution to the latest rise in High-Performance model sales at BMW M GmbH were the BMW X5 M Competition (fuel consumption combined: 13.6 – 13.3 l/100 km [20.8 – 21,2 mpg imp]; CO₂ emissions combined: 308 – 303 g/km as per WLTP) and BMW X6 M Competition (fuel consumption combined: 13.4 – 13.1 l/100 km [21.1 – 21.6 mpg imp]; CO₂ emissions combined: 305 – 299 g/km as per WLTP). Following the successful market launch of the latest model generation the previous year, the charismatic High-Performance sports cars in the Sports Activity Vehicle and Sports Activity Coupé segment – both powered by a 460 kW/625 hp V8 engine – increased their sales figures once again in 2021.

Alluring and in demand: the BMW M models in the BMW 4 Series range.

The dynamic excellence, agility and precision for which M is renowned also enabled the brand’s Performance models to delight and excite a wide range of customers over the past year. Credit for the latest boost to sales goes above all to the M models based on the new BMW 4 Series. Particularly popular were the variants of the new BMW 4 Series Coupé, whose line-up consists of the BMW M440i Coupé (fuel consumption combined: 8.1 – 7.4 l/100 km [34.8 – 38.2 mpg imp]; CO₂ emissions combined: 184 – 167 g/km as per WLTP) and BMW M440i xDrive Coupé (fuel consumption combined: 8.2 – 7.5 l/100 km [34.5 – 37.7 mpg imp]; CO₂ emissions combined: 186 – 170 g/km as per WLTP) powered by a 275 kW/374 hp six-cylinder in-line petrol engine, and the BMW M440d xDrive Coupé (fuel consumption combined: 6.3 – 5.7 l/100 km [44.8 – 49.6 mpg imp]; CO₂ emissions combined: 165 – 150 g/km as per WLTP), whose six-cylinder in-line diesel unit produces 250 kW/340 hp.

The latest BMW X models within the ranks of M’s Performance cars also proved extremely desirable. Indeed, the BMW X3 M40i powered by a six-cylinder in-line engine with 265 kW/360 hp (fuel consumption combined: 9.5 – 8.8 l/100 km [29.7 – 32.1 mpg imp]; CO₂ emissions combined: 216 – 199 g/km as per WLTP) and the BMW X7 M50i (fuel consumption combined: 12.8 – 12.3 l/100 km [22.1 – 23.0 mpg imp]; CO₂ emissions combined: 292 – 280 g/km as per WLTP) with its 390 kW/530 hp V8 unit both posted an increase in new registrations.

Looking ahead to an anniversary year brimming with highlights.

BMW M GmbH will continue its product offensive in this anniversary year with the addition of new High-Performance and Performance models. Highlights include the new BMW M240i xDrive Coupé (fuel consumption combined: 8.8 – 8.1 l/100 km [32.1 – 34.9 mpg imp]; CO₂ emissions combined: 200 – 185 g/km as per WLTP) and the arrival later in the year of the first BMW M3 Touring and an exclusive special-edition model based on the new BMW M4 Coupé.

In addition, the BMW Group subsidiary – which was founded as BMW Motorsport GmbH in May 1972 and enjoys the status of an independent manufacturer – will also drive the transformation to electric mobility. Following in the tyre tracks of the BMW i4 M50 (electric power consumption combined: 22.5 – 18.0 kWh/100 km as per WLTP; CO₂ emissions combined: 0 g/km) in the first half of 2022 will be the likewise fully electric BMW iX M60 (projected electric power consumption combined: 24.7 – 21.7 kWh/100 km as per WLTP; CO₂ emissions combined: 0 g/km).

The most powerful BMW M model ever made points the way to the future of the brand.

The anniversary year will be crowned by the start of production of the BMW XM. The most powerful BMW M car ever to go into series production is also the brand’s first High-Performance model to employ a plug-in hybrid drive system. Its newly developed M Hybrid technology brings together a V8 engine and a high-performance electric motor to develop maximum output of 550 kW/750 hp and peak torque of 1,000 Nm (737 lb-ft). The design of the BMW XM majors on presence and extrovert appeal and in so doing sends out a clear statement in the luxury segment.

Munich. The sales launch of the BMW iX and the BMW i4 in November 2021 marks the beginning of a new era of purely electric premium mobility. In addition to sustainable driving pleasure, the two new models also offer the latest innovations in the field of driver assistance systems and, with the new generation of the BMW iDrive operating system, represent the future of intuitive interaction between driver and vehicle. Parallel to this, the BMW model range will also undergo targeted further development in autumn 2021. Additional drive variants and innovations in the areas of design and digital services increase the diversity and attractiveness of the current range.

The model range of the new BMW 4 Series Convertible will be expanded by three new drive variants from November 2021. In future, an 8-speed Steptronic transmission will be standard equipment for one additional model variant each of the BMW X1 and the BMW X2. New paint finishes are available for the BMW 1 Series, BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé, BMW X2, BMW X3 and BMW X4 models. The functional scope of the My BMW App is complemented by further digital services. The BMW i brand is not only setting trends with its two new models. The pioneer of all-electric premium mobility, the BMW i3, will be offered in a limited Unique Forever Edition from November 2021. And in the BMW iX3, a predictive battery heat management system will optimise the way in which DC fast charging stations will be used in the future.

BMW 4 Series Convertible: Two additional BMW M automobiles and a further all-wheel drive model.
The combination of sporty performance and open-air pleasure in a BMW 4 Series model will be enriched even further in autumn 2021. In the new BMW M 440i Convertible (combined fuel consumption: 8.3 – 7.7 l/100 km according to WLTP; combined CO₂ emissions: 190 - 175 g/km according to WLTP), a 275 kW/374 hp inline 6-cylinder petrol engine with 48-volt mild hybrid technology ensures particularly purist driving pleasure by transferring its power to the rear wheels. An 8-speed Steptronic sports transmission and an M sports differential in the final drive also contribute to the thrilling driving dynamics as standard. This is reflected, among other things, by accerlation from 0 - 100 km/h from standstill in 5.2 seconds.

An inline 6-cylinder diesel engine and the intelligent BMW xDrive all-wheel drive system make the second new BMW M automobile a thrilling open-top drive. With a peak output of 250 kW/340 hp, a maximum torque of 700 Nm and 48-volt mild hybrid technology, the new BMW M440d xDrive Convertible (combined fuel consumption: 6.6 – 6.0 l/100 km according to WLTP; combined CO₂ emissions: 172 - 157 g/km according to WLTP) has impressive pulling power. 5.0 seconds are sufficient for the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h. An 8-speed Steptronic sports transmission and an M sports differential are also standard equipment in this model variant.

In addition, the model range for the open-top four-seater in the premium mid-size segment is expanded to include the new BMW 430i xDrive Convertible (combined fuel consumption: 8.1 – 7.3 l/100 km according to WLTP; combined CO₂ emissions: 183 - 166 g/km according to WLTP). With its 180 kW/245 hp 4-cylinder petrol engine, an 8-speed Steptronic transmission and intelligent all-wheel drive, it accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 6.3 seconds. The 8-speed Steptronic sports transmission and the M sports differential are optionally available for this model.

BMW X1 xDrive18d and BMW X2 xDrive18d now feature 8-speed Steptronic transmission as standard.
Driving pleasure and comfort will be enhanced in autumn 2021 as the 8-speed Steptronic transmission is included in further model variants of the BMW X1 and BMW X2 as standard. The fast and efficient automatic transmission is characterised by a high level of shifting comfort and a particularly favourable internal efficiency. In future, it will also be available as standard with the 110 kW/150 hp 4-cylinder diesel engine of the BMW X1 xDrive18d models (combined fuel consumption: 6.1 – 5.4 l/100 km according to WLTP; combined CO₂ emissions: 159 – 142 g/km according to WLTP) and the BMW X2 xDrive18d (combined fuel consumption: 6.1 – 5.4 l/100 km according to WLTP; combined CO₂ emissions: 160 - 142 g/km according to WLTP).

With the new drive combination, both models accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 9.4 seconds. An optional 8-speed Steptronic sports transmission is also available, operated by paddle shifts on the steering wheel.

New paint finishes for numerous model series.
New paint finishes for numerous current BMW models allow for additional customisation opportunities. The Skyscraper Grey metallic variant will be available for the BMW 1 Series, the BMW X2 and the BMW X3 from November 2021. Also new to the range are the BMW Individual paint finishes Frozen Pure Grey metallic for the BMW 1 Series and the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé, as well as Aventurine Red metallic for the BMW X3 and the BMW X4.

My BMW App with extended range of functions.
Planning travel routes and transferring them to the car, receiving information about the car’ status and live images from its surroundings, arranging service appointments or receiving news from the brand - the My BMW app makes all this possible on the customer's smartphone. It serves as a universal interface for communication between car and customer, the BMW brand and the BMW dealer. The range of functions of the My BMW App will be expanded again in autumn 2021. In future, for example, the images transmitted by the Remote 3D View service will be stored in a gallery, including information about the location and time of the shots. The status of the vehicle's air conditioning and ventilation is now also clearly displayed in the My BMW app.

In addition, the My BMW app now also provides drivers with comprehensive information on the condition of the vehicle's tyres on their smartphone. This new feature helps to minimise the risk of breakdowns and is available for the BMW 1 Series, BMW 3 Series and BMW 4 Series models, the new BMW 2 Series Coupé, the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé, the BMW Z4 as well as the BMW X5, BMW X6 and BMW X7. The My BMW app displays the wheel-specific values as measured by the tyre pressure system. In addition, the digital tyre diagnosis, which is unique in the competitive environment, can also transmit information about a defect or wear of the tyres via the My BMW app. In the BMW backend, the data from the tyre pressure control system is processed together with the values for temperature and wheel speeds to create a forecast of the remaining life of the tyres. As a supplement to tyre pressure control, indications of tyre damage are also registered.

To ensure the fastest and most efficient power feed at DC fast-charging stations, regardless of operating and outside temperatures, the BMW iX3 (combined power consumption: 19.0 - 18.6 L/100 km according to WLTP, 18.5 - 18.9 L/100 km according to NEDC) will be equipped with intelligent thermal management for the high-voltage battery as in the BMW i4 / BMW iX from November 2021. As soon as the active route guidance of the navigation system foresees a stopover at a High Power Charging Station, it already ensures that the battery is automatically preconditioned before arrival.

The appropriate heating or cooling ensures that the high-voltage battery is at the ideal temperature for charging at maximum power on arrival. The thermal management takes into account, among other things, the battery temperature, the remaining range, the predicted charging power and the planned scope of the charging process as part of the overall route calculation.

BMW i3 and BMW i3s in the Unique Forever Edition.
From November 2021, the BMW i3 models (combined electricity consumption: 16.3 - 15.3 L/100 km according to WLTP, 13.1 L/100 km according to NEDC and BMW i3s (combined electricity consumption: 16.6 - 16.3 L/100 km according to WLTP, 14.6 - 14.0 L/100 km according to NEDC) in the Unique Forever Edition. The naming of the new special edition refers to the unique character of the world's first premium automobile designed from the outset for purely electric mobility. The BMW i3 represents a holistic understanding of sustainability not only with its drive system, but also with its particularly lightweight passenger cell made of carbon fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) and extensive use of natural and recycled materials in its interior. Eight years after being launched on the market, it is still a globally recognised symbol of locally emission-free urban mobility.

The edition vehicles are characterised by particularly high-grade and exclusive design and equipment features. The two BMW Individual paint finishes, available for the first time for the BMW i3, ensure a stylish appearance. The Aventurine Red metallic variant is combined with an accent in Frozen Grey metallic and the Storm Bay metallic paint finish with an accent in Frozen E-Copper. The interior surfaces of the BMW grille are also finished in the respective accent colour. Other special features include the omission of the trim strip and model lettering on the luggage compartment lid and a black insert for the rear bumper. In the interior of the edition vehicles, the contents of the Suite equipment world - including the Vernasca Dark Truffle leather combination, the leather instrument panel, the fine wood surface in dark matt oak, the leather steering wheel, the Carum grey roof lining and the ambient lighting - are supplemented by specific design elements. The front headrests are embroidered with the words "Unique Forever", the door trim panels in the area of the exterior mirrors bear the inscription "One of 2,000“.

The Unique Forever Edition models are produced in a limited edition of 2,000 units at the BMW plant in Leipzig. Only electricity generated by the wind turbines on the factory premises is used.

Na het klinkende succes van de originele BMW 4 Reeks Gran Coupé krijgt het model een opvolger in de nieuwste 4 Reeks. De nieuwe vierdeurscoupé spreekt tot de verbeelding met zijn merkbaar verbeterde weggedrag, zijn scherpere design dat aansluit bij de nieuwe designtaal van het merk BMW, het geraffineerde premiumgevoel in zijn interieur en de talloze innovaties op het gebied van bediening en connectiviteit. Behalve het rijplezier en de sportieve elegantie waarvoor BMW bekend staat, kreeg ook moderne functionaliteit een centrale plaats in dit Gran Coupé-concept voor het segment van de prestigieuze middenklassers. Een comfortabele toegang tot de achterbank, vijf volwaardige zitplaatsen, een grote achterklep en een moduleerbare bagageruimte maken dat de nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Gran Coupé zijn modelspecifieke vaardigheden behoudt, zowel bij dagelijks gebruik als tijdens langere ritten.

Van bij de marktlancering, die in november 2021 van start moet gaan, zal BMW M GmbH een prestatiegerichte versie van de nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Gran Coupé toevoegen aan het gamma, dat nog vier andere modelvarianten telt. Al deze modellen worden in een flexibel productieproces gebouwd in de fabriek van BMW Group in München, op dezelfde lijn als de volledig elektrische BMW i4 en de BMW 3 Reeks Berline en BMW 3 Reeks Touring.

Opvallende proporties, uiterst veelzijdig interieur.

Het aparte karakter van de nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Gran Coupé komt duidelijk tot uiting in zijn koetswerkdesign. Hij is 4.783 millimeter lang, 1.852 millimeter breed en 1.442 millimeter hoog en heeft opvallende proporties in combinatie met dynamisch gestrekte coupélijnen. Daarmee is hij 143 millimeter langer, 27 millimeter breder en 53 millimeter hoger dan zijn voorganger, terwijl ook de spoorbreedtes groeiden: 1.595 millimeter vooraan (+50 millimeter) en 1.623 millimeter achteraan (+29 millimeter). De wielbasis van 2.856 millimeter is 46 millimeter langer dan die van het vorige model en 5 millimeter langer dan die van de 3 Reeks Berline.

Het modelspecifieke koetswerkconcept vertaalt zich in een veelzijdig interieur met een zee aan ruimte achterin. De nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Gran Coupé biedt een koffervolume van 470 liter, waarvan de inhoud in het direct zichtbare gedeelte van de koffer met 39 liter is gegroeid. Het bagagevolume kan bovendien worden uitgebreid tot maximaal 1.290 liter door de rugleuning van de achterbank in drie delen (standaard 40:20:40) neer te klappen.

Expressieve voorkant, elegant silhouet, krachtige achterkant.

Gedurfde lijnen en oppervlakken met een driedimensionale structuur zijn de kenmerkende elementen van de expressieve voorkant van de nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Gran Coupé. De grote, verticaal prominente BMW-nieren in het midden lopen ver door naar beneden toe en garanderen een zelfverzekerde uitstraling. De fijne ‘full led’-koplampen beschikken over U-vormige glasvezellichtgeleiders voor de dagrijlichten. Als optie zijn ook adaptieve led-koplampen met BMW Laserlight verkrijgbaar, inclusief de niet-verblindende grootlichtassistent BMW Selective Beam.

Uitgekiende lijnen, deuren met frameloze ruiten, vlak aansluitende handgrepen en krachtige schouders geven het elegante, sportieve silhouet van de nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Gran Coupé vorm, terwijl de daklijn uitloopt in een uitgesproken spoilerlip op de achterklep. Horizontale lijnen domineren de achterzijde. En de lage, gespierde uitstraling van de wagen wordt benadrukt door een achterschort met verticale luchtuitlaten aan de buitenkanten en een zwarte afwerking voor de onderkant. De stijlvolle, donkergetinte ‘full led’-achterlichten lopen ver door in de flanken.

Specifieke designkenmerken geven de M-sportwagens en het BMW M-model een dynamische toets. Een M Carbon-exterieurpakket is als optie verkrijgbaar en het gamma originele BMW-accessoires omvat diverse modelspecifieke M Performance-onderdelen.

Interieur: rijplezier en ruimte in een luxueuze sfeer.

In de nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Gran Coupé zorgen de hoge middenconsole en de vloeiende oppervlaktestructuur, die vanaf het instrumentenbord doorloopt in de deurpanelen, voor een behaaglijk gevoel in de voorzetels. De Start/Stop-toets voor de motor werd ondergebracht in een klassiek ontworpen bedieningspaneel in de middenconsole, dat behalve de modelspecifieke versnellingspook ook de BMW Controller en de toetsen voor de Driving Experience Control-eenheid en elektromechanische parkeerrem omvat. De achterbank met neerklapbare hoofdsteunen biedt plaats aan drie kinderzitjes.

Sportzetels en een lederen sportstuur zijn standaard. In de BMW M440i xDrive Gran Coupé en de M Sport-modellen wordt de dynamische stijl van het interieur benadrukt door middel van kniebeschermers op de middenconsole. De optielijst biedt tal van personaliseringsmogelijkheden. Het rijplezier en comfort kunnen nog worden opgewaardeerd met zaken zoals zetelverwarming en -ventilatie, optionele bekledingen in Vernasca-leder en BMW Individual-leder, een bekleding in Sensatec of leder voor het instrumentenbord, het M Sport Pro-pakket, een groot glazen schuif- en kanteldak, sfeerverlichting en het Harman Kardon Surround Sound System.

De hypergeavanceerde vier- en zescilindermotoren en de ‘mild hybrid’-technologie met 48V-batterij geven de dynamiek en efficiëntie een merkbare boost.

De nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Gran Coupé bevestigt zijn sterk verbeterde sportieve kwaliteiten met een prestatiegericht model aan de top van het gamma. De BMW M440i xDrive Gran Coupé (brandstofverbruik over de gemengde WLTP-cyclus: 8,5 – 8,0 l/100 km; CO₂-uitstoot over de gemengde WLTP-cyclus: 193 – 181 g/km) wordt aangedreven door een 275 kW/374 pk sterke zescilinder-in-lijnmotor op benzine. De BMW 430i Gran Coupé (brandstofverbruik over de gemengde WLTP-cyclus: 7,6 – 6,8 l/100 km; CO₂-uitstoot over de gemengde WLTP-cyclus: 173 – 156 g/km) introduceert een nieuwe viercilinder-benzinemotor die 180 kW/245 pk ontwikkelt en een in de cilinderkop geïntegreerd uitlaatspruitstuk heeft om de uitstoot verder te verlagen. De viercilinder-benzinemotor in de BMW 420i Gran Coupé (brandstofverbruik over de gemengde WLTP-cyclus: 7,3 – 6,6 l/100 km; CO₂-uitstoot over de gemengde WLTP-cyclus: 166 – 150 g/km) levert een maximumvermogen van 135 kW/184 pk. Een 140 kW/190 pk sterke viercilinder-dieselmotor ligt in het vooronder van de BMW 420d Gran Coupé (brandstofverbruik over de gemengde WLTP-cyclus: 5,4 – 4,8 l/100 km; CO₂-uitstoot over de gemengde WLTP-cyclus: 141 – 126 g/km) en de BMW 420d xDrive Gran Coupé (brandstofverbruik over de gemengde WLTP-cyclus: 5,7 – 5,1 l/100 km; CO₂-uitstoot over de gemengde WLTP-cyclus: 150 – 133 g/km).

In de BMW M440i xDrive Gran Coupé en de dieselversies van de nieuwe wagen tilt de ‘mild hybrid’-technologie de dynamiek en efficiëntie naar een nog hoger niveau. De startmotor-generator met 48V-batterij levert nog eens 8 kW/11 pk bij acceleraties vanuit stilstand of plotse inhaalmanoeuvres. Een extra batterij breidt de mogelijkheden om remenergie te regenereren en op te slaan verder uit.

Alle motoren worden standaard gekoppeld aan een Steptronic-achtversnellingsbak. De als optie verkrijgbare Steptronic Sport-transmissie met acht verhoudingen (standaard in de BMW M440i xDrive Gran Coupé) vult de scherpere schakeldynamiek en schakelpaddles aan het stuur aan met een Sprint-functie. Dat bevordert de motor- en schakeleigenschappen om de dynamische prestaties te maximaliseren bij plotse acceleraties of inhaalmanoeuvres.

Hoge koetswerkstijfheid, geoptimaliseerde aerodynamische eigenschappen.

De sportieve kenmerken van de nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Gran Coupé worden ook bevorderd door het lage zwaartepunt en de gewichtsverdeling van bijna 50:50. Een intelligente materiaalmix optimaliseert het gewicht van zowel het koetswerk als het chassis. De specifieke koetswerksteunen vooraan en rond de achteras dragen bij tot de superieure wendbaarheid en precisie van de auto.

Een actief regelsysteem met luchtkleppen boven- en onderaan, luchtgordijnen en een nagenoeg volledig gesloten bodemplaat optimaliseren tot slot de stroomlijn van de wagen. Zo bedraagt de luchtweerstandscoëfficiënt (Cd) van de BMW 420d Gran Coupé 0,26, tegenover 0,28 voor zijn voorganger.

Gesofistikeerde chassistechnologie met modelspecifieke afstelling.

De modelspecifieke geometrie, montage en afstelling van de geavanceerde chassistechnologie in de nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Gran Coupé geven hem een uitzonderlijk dynamisme dat vertrouwen inboezemt. De vooras met twee veerpoten en de achteras met vijf wielarmen werden eveneens ontwikkeld om het gewicht te beperken en tegelijk de stijfheid te verhogen. De standaard gemonteerde schokdempers met specifieke liftafstelling komen zowel de sportprestaties als het rijcomfort ten goede. Naargelang de veerwegen zorgen ze voor extra demping om koetswerkbewegingen onder controle te houden bij grote oneffenheden en om overdreven duiken te voorkomen. Op kleine oneffenheden in het wegdek reageert het systeem met lage dempingskrachten die een hoog comfortpeil verzekeren.

De schokdempers met specifieke liftafstelling voelen bijzonder stijf aan in de BMW M440i xDrive Gran Coupé en op wagens met de optionele M Sport-ophanging. De optionele adaptieve M-ophanging combineert de eigenschappen van de M Sport-ophanging met elektronisch gestuurde schokdempers en biedt daardoor een zo breed mogelijke rijervaring in het sportieve tot comfortabele spectrum. Variable Sport Steering is inbegrepen in combinatie met beide optionele ophangingsversies. Als optie zijn ook M Sport-remmen verkrijgbaar (standaard op de BMW M440i xDrive Gran Coupé).

De nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Gran Coupé wordt standaard geleverd met 17” lichtmetalen velgen. De nieuwe BMW M440i xDrive Gran Coupé staat standaard op 18” lichtmetalen BMW M-velgen en een M Sport-differentieel met elektronisch gestuurde, volledig variabele sperfunctie achteraan. Deze is ook als optie verkrijgbaar voor de BMW 430i Gran Coupé indien klanten voor de M Sport-ophanging of adaptieve M-ophanging opteren.

Uitgebreide waaier aan rijhulpsystemen.

De nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Gran Coupé is standaard of als optie leverbaar met een veertigtal assistentiefuncties die comfortabel en veilig rijden en parkeren mogelijk maken. Hoogtepunten zijn onder meer de actieve snelheidsregelaar met automatische assistent voor snelheidsbeperkingen, de trajectcontrole en verkeerslichtdetectie (in Duitsland), alsook de stuur- en spoorassistent.

De standaarduitrusting omvat een botswaarschuwing vooraan, Speed Limit Info, Lane Departure Warning, Park Distance Control, de achteruitrijcamera en Parking Assistant met Reversing Assistant. Parking Assistant Plus met Surround View en Remote 3D View kan als optie worden besteld.

Geavanceerde connectiviteit en nieuwe digitale services.

De bestuurder en de passagiers in de nieuwe BMW 4 Reeks Gran Coupé beschikken standaard over de uitgebreide mogelijkheden van het BMW Operating System 7. Klanten kunnen de bedieningsinterface afstemmen op de situatie van het moment: bedieningsdisplay met aanraakscherm, vertrouwde BMW Controller, multifunctionele toetsen op het stuur, Voice Control of de optionele gebarenbediening van BMW. Ze krijgen ook toegang tot een reeks uiterst geavanceerde digitale diensten, waaronder de BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, BMW Digital Key, Connected Music en Remote Software Upgrades.

De standaard gemonteerde BMW Live Cockpit Plus omvat het iDrive-besturingssysteem met 8,8”-bedieningsscherm en een 5,1”-kleurenscherm in het instrumentenbord. De als optie verkrijgbare BMW Live Cockpit Professional is uitgerust met een volledig digitale schermgroep, bestaande uit een instrumentenbord met hoge resolutie en een schermdiagonaal van 12,3” achter het stuur en een 10,25” groot bedieningsscherm.

Het cloudondersteunde navigatiesysteem BMW Maps biedt een uiterst snelle en nauwkeurige routeberekening en aankomsttijden, realtime-verkeersupdates met korte intervallen en de mogelijkheid om woorden in te voeren wanneer u een bestemming opzoekt. Munich. The market launch of the BMW M5 CS is the absolute highlight among the innovations that will enrich the BMW model range in spring 2021. The first special model based on the BMW M5 Competition takes on the top position in the BMW M GmbH range in terms of engine power, performance and exclusivity, underlining the brand's close ties with racing. Model diversity in the premium segment of the compact and mid-size class will be expanded from March 2021 with additional drive variants for the BMW 4 Series Coupé and the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé. What is more, attractive additions to the standard or optionally available equipment in numerous BMW model series enhance driving pleasure, comfort, individuality and safety.

A feature previously only available for high-performance BMW M GmbH automobiles will also be featured on the most powerful variants of the BMW 3 Series Sedan and BMW 4 Series Coupé from March 2021. For the first time, an M carbon fibre roof will be offered for the top models of both model series. Exclusive lightweight components also optimise the driving experience in the BMW M8. Newly developed M Carbon bucket seats will be available as an optional extra for the three high-performance models in the luxury segment from March 2021. The luxury sedans of the BMW 7 Series will be equipped with Integral Active Steering as standard. In addition, a nanoparticle filter will now be a new component of the standard or optional 4-zone automatic air conditioning in the BMW 7 Series and BMW 8 Series as well as in the BMW X5, BMW X6 and BMW X7 models. BMW Individual Shadow Line lights complement the equipment range for the BMW X5 and BMW X6. The BMW News app will be added to the range of digital services for selected BMW models from April 2021.

High-performance sedan with exclusive racing characteristics: The BMW M5 CS.
Following the BMW M3 CS, the BMW M4 CS and the BMW M2 CS, a special model of the BMW M5 will be launched for the first time in March 2021. The most powerful and exclusive version of the high-performance sedan bears the name BMW M5 CS (combined fuel consumption: 11.3 - 10.9 l/100 km (WLTP), 11.3 - 11. 1 l/100 km (NEDC); combined CO2 emissions: 257 - 248 g/km (WLTP), 258 - 253 g/km (NEDC).

The special model is powered by the most powerful engine ever to be used in a BMW M GmbH production vehicle. The V8 engine with BMW M TwinPower Turbo technology generates a maximum output of 467 kW/635 hp and is thus 7 kW/10 hp more powerful than the drive unit in the BMW M5 Competition. Weighing in with 70 kilograms less weight, the BMW M5 CS completes the sprint from a standstill to 100 km/h in 3.0 seconds, beating the BMW M5 Competition by 0.3 seconds.

The racetrack potential of the BMW M5 CS also goes hand in hand with unrestricted suitability for everyday use. In addition to design elements for the exterior in Gold Bronze, standard equipment also features M Carbon seats for the driver and front passenger. In the rear of the BMW M5 CS, two passengers can be seated on individual seats and enjoy the outstanding driving experience.

New in the BMW 4 Series: Inline 6-cylinder diesel engines and exclusive optional extras.
The sporty character of the new BMW 4 Series Coupé will be underlined by an additional BMW M automobile and a further model variant with a particularly powerful engine from March 2021. In both cases, an inline 6-cylinder diesel engine and intelligent all-wheel drive provide efficient driving pleasure. The new BMW M440d xDrive Coupé (combined fuel consumption: 6.3 – 5.7 l/100 km (WLTP), 5.7 - 5.3 l/100 km (NEDC); combined CO2 emissions: 164 - 150 g/km (WLTP), 149 - 140 g/km (NEDC), with its 250 kW/340 hp drive featuring BMW M TwinPower Turbo technology is also combined with an 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission, an M sports package and an M sports differential. Thanks to the outstanding performance of the 3.0-litre engine and its maximum torque of 700 Nm, the new BMW M440d xDrive Coupé accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds.

With a maximum output of 210 kW/286 hp generated from a 3.0 litres of capacity and a maximum torque of 650 Nm, the powerplant of the new BMW 430d xDrive Coupé (combined fuel consumption: 5.9 – 5.2 l/100 km (WLTP), 5.1 - 4.8 l/100 km (NEDC); combined CO2 emissions: 155 - 137 g/km (WLTP), 134 - 126 g/km (NEDC) also enables dynamic acceleration manoeuvres. It takes just 5.1 seconds to accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h.

In both inline 6-cylinder diesel models, mild hybrid technology with a 48-volt starter generator provides a further increase in dynamics and efficiency. The system enables particularly intensive energy recovery in braking and thrust phases. The energy is stored in a 48-volt battery and used both for the onboard network and to generate additional drive power. The dynamic power delivery when starting off and accelerating is enhanced by the additional power of 8 kW/11 hp spontaneously provided by the 48-volt starter generator. In other load ranges the electric drive can relieve the combustion engine and thus increase its efficiency.

For both the new BMW 4 Series Coupé and the new BMW 4 Series Convertible, the BMW Individual Brilliant White metallic, BMW Individual Frozen Portimao Blue metallic and BMW Individual Frozen Deep Grey metallic exterior paint finishes will also be available from March 2021. The extended BMW Individual Merino leather upholstery or the BMW Individual Merino full leather upholstery will be available in six or four colour variants respectively to ensure exclusive flair in the interior.

Dynamic charisma increased, centre of gravity lowered: M Carbon roof in the BMW 3 Series and BMW 4 Series.
The new BMW M440d xDrive Coupé, just like the BMW M440i xDrive Coupé and the two corresponding top models of the BMW 3 Series Sedan, will add further touches of sporty flair by means of an exclusive lightweight construction feature. The M Carbon roof, available for these four models from March 2021, emphasises dynamic charisma and at the same time lowers the vehicle's centre of gravity further to make it even more agile.

In future, the new interior trims will be available in the M Carbon Fibre version to match. They will also be available for the BMW M440i xDrive Convertible and for all other model variants of the new BMW 3 Series and BMW 4 Series, in each case in conjunction with the M Sport Model equipment.

Additional all-wheel drive model variant for the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé.
The added traction, driving stability and sportiness associated with intelligent all-wheel drive can be experienced in a further model variant of the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé from March 2021. The new BMW 220i xDrive Gran Coupé (combined fuel consumption: 7.3 - 6.5 l/100 km (WLTP), 6.4 - 6.1 l/100 km (NEDC); combined CO2 emissions: 165 - 149 g/km (WLTP, 147 - 139 g/km (NEDC), generates 131 kW/178 hp from a 4-cylinder petrol engine, the power being distributed between the front and rear wheels as required. The 7-speed Steptronic transmission with double clutch is in charge of power transmission. With this drive technology, the new BMW 220i xDrive Gran Coupé accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 7.1 seconds.

The range of optional extras for the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé will be supplemented by additional light-alloy wheels in spring 2021. 18-inch M light-alloy wheels in Y-spoke design and bicolour finish are new to the range.

BMW 7 Series now features Integral Active Steering as standard.
The superior ride comfort, cornering dynamics and agility of the BMW 7 Series luxury sedans will be enhanced from March 2021 with the help of Integral Active Steering as standard. This system optimises both agility and superior handling at higher speeds as well as comfort when manoeuvring through precisely controlled steering of the rear wheels. The latest version of the Integral Active Steering system triggers counter-steering of the rear wheels even at a particularly low speed of less than 3 km/h. This further enhances the manoeuvrability of the luxury sedans when parking and backing out, as well as when passing slowly through narrow spaces.

Nanoparticle filter as a new component of the 4-zone automatic air conditioning.
In many current BMW models, a nanoparticle filter will be part of the range of functions of the 4-zone automatic air conditioning. The system, which is unique in the competitive environment, is able to remove tiny impurities from the air flowing into the interior. The 4-zone automatic air conditioning with nanoparticle filter is part of the standard equipment in the BMW X7 and is offered as an option for the BMW 7 Series luxury sedans, the BMW 8 Series luxury sports cars and the BMW X5 and BMW X6 models.

Pure race-track feeling: M Carbon bucket seats in the BMW M8.
A particularly attractive addition to the range of optional extras for the BMW M8 models allows customers to experience the fascinating performance characteristics of the high-performance sports cars even more intensively. M Carbon bucket seats will be available for the BMW M8 Competition Coupé, the BMW M8 Competition Convertible and the BMW M8 Competition Gran Coupé from March 2021. With their novel, structure-based design, visible carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) surfaces, integrated headrests, openings in the backrests and side sections as well as guides for multi-point seat belts, they combine racing functionality with long-distance comfort and luxurious quality of workmanship.

The M Carbon bucket seats for the driver and front passenger are electrically adjustable for height, tilt and forward/back positioning. In addition, the inclination and width of their backrests can be adjusted at the touch of a button. They feature leather and alcantara seat surfaces and are also heated. Illuminated "M8" lettering on the headrests and a memory function on the driver's side are also part of the equipment package of the M Carbon bucket seats. Their lightweight construction concept leads to a significant weight reduction compared to the standard M sports seats.

Exclusive special equipment for other BMW M automobiles.
The range of optional extras available for numerous other BMW M automobiles will also be expanded in spring 2021. For the BMW M3 Sedan and the BMW M4 Coupé, the new Skyscraper Grey metallic exterior paint finish and the extended BMW Merino leather upholstery are available in a choice of five additional colour variants.

The BMW X5 M Competition and BMW X6 M Competition models can also be equipped with BMW Individual Shadow Line lights in conjunction with the optional BMW laser light from April 2021. New addition to the range of digital services: BMW News app.
The BMW Operating System 7, which is available in conjunction with BMW Live Cockpit, BMW Live Cockpit Plus or BMW Live Cockpit Professional in numerous current BMW models, enables the use of a growing number of digital services. The latest innovations in this area include the BMW News app, which will be available from April 2021 as part of BMW Connected and provides the driver with selected audio content. Munich. Increased efficiency through consistent electrification, optimised emissions and innovations in the areas of driver assistance and digital services are the focus of the model revision measures for numerous BMW model series that will take effect in autumn 2020. From November 2020, all models of the premium brand will meet the requirements of the currently strictest exhaust emission standard Euro 6d. In the BMW 5 Series, the range of plug-in hybrid models has been extended by three new variants. New inline 6-cylinder diesel engines and 48-volt mild hybrid technology lower fuel consumption and emissions of selected models in the BMW 3 Series and BMW 8 Series. In addition, further engines will supplement the drive portfolio of the BMW 1 Series and the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé.

Efficiency becomes more diverse: World premiere for five plug-in hybrid models in the BMW 5 Series.
The range of BMW models with electrified drive systems will also be consistently expanded in autumn 2020. The expanded range of the following electrified models is especially attractive: BMW 545e xDrive Sedan (fuel consumption combined: 2.3 – 2.2 l/100 km; combined power consumption: 16.3 – 15.8 kWh/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 53 – 49 g/km; electric range: 47 – 57 km), BMW 530e Touring (combined fuel consumption: 2.0 – 1.8 l/100 km; combined power consumption: 16.1 – 15.4 kWh/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 46 – 42 g/km; electric range: 52 – 57 km (WLTP)) and BMW 530e xDrive Touring (combined fuel consumption: 2.4 – 2.2 l/100 km; combined power consumption: 16.7 – 16.1 kWh/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 54 – 50 g/km; electric range: 48 – 53 km (WLTP)). The BMW 5 Series model range now already includes five plug-in hybrid variants. In the upper mid-size class, BMW offers the largest selection of models with electrified drive.

In the new BMW 545e xDrive Sedan, an inline 6-cylinder petrol engine and an electric drive integrated into the 8-speed Steptronic transmission deliver impressive driving dynamics in a particularly efficient manner. The power of the two drive units adds up to a maximum system output of 290 kW/394 hp and is distributed between the front and rear wheels as required by the intelligent BMW xDrive all-wheel drive. The brand’s hallmark combination of energy efficiency and sportiness also characterises the new Touring models, whose plug-in hybrid system consists of a 4-cylinder petrol engine and an electric drive system also integrated into the 8-speed Steptronic transmission. Together they generate a system output of up to 215 kW/292 hp in the XtraBoost mode when load requirements are particularly high.

Increased dynamic performance and reduced fuel consumption: New inline 6-cylinder diesel engines with 48-volt mild hybrid technology in the BMW 3 Series and BMW 8 Series.
With the introduction of 48-volt mild hybrid technology in additional models, BMW continues to consistently reduce fuel consumption and emissions in its current vehicle fleet. This is linked to the introduction of a new generation of inline 6-cylinder diesel engines. As of autumn 2020, four mid-size models of the BMW 3 Series and three luxury sports cars of the BMW 8 Series will offer noticeably more dynamic performance and increased efficiency.

This twofold and BMW typical progress is achieved through further advanced BMW TwinPower Turbo technology and additionally with the aid of a particularly powerful starter generator and an additional battery. The dynamic power delivery when starting off and accelerating is enhanced by the additional power of 8 kW/11 hp spontaneously provided by the 48-volt starter generator. In other load ranges the electric drive can relieve the combustion engine and thus increase its efficiency. The power required for this is generated by intensive recuperation in braking and thrust phases and stored in a 48-volt battery, which also supplies the vehicle’s electrical system.

The 48-volt mild hybrid technology will be used in four further BMW 3 Series models from November 2020. In the new BMW 330d Sedan (combined fuel consumption: 4.7 – 4.4 l/100 km*; combined CO₂ emissions: 125 – 116 g/km*) and the new BMW 330d Xdrive Sedan (combined fuel consumption: 5.0 – 4.7 l/100 km*; combined CO₂ emissions: 132 – 123 g/km*) and the new BMW 330d Touring (combined fuel consumption: 4.8 – 4.5 l/100 km*; combined CO₂ emissions: 128 – 119 g/km*) and the new BMW 330d Xdrive Touring (combined fuel consumption: 5.2 – 4.8 l/100 km*; combined CO₂ emissions: 136 – 127 g/km), it supports the new inline 6-cylinder diesel engine, which already provides additional driving pleasure with its maximum output increased by 15 kW/21 hp to 210 kW/286 hp. Thanks to a two-stage turbocharging system and an advanced common rail injection system whose piezo injectors now inject the fuel with up to ten injections per working cycle and a maximum pressure of 2 700 bar into the combustion chambers, engine response and efficiency of the 3.0 litre engine are optimised. The new diesel engine generates its maximum torque, which has been increased by 30 to 650 Nm, between 1 500 and 2 500 rpm. The increased power of the combustion engine and the additional electrical power noticeably improve the car’s sprint capacity. For example, the new BMW 330d Sedan improves its acceleration from zero to 100 km/h by 0.2 seconds to now 5.3 seconds.

In the BMW 8 Series, 48-volt mild hybrid technology is combined with an equally new and even more powerful 3.0-litre diesel engine. The BMW 840d xDrive Coupé models (fuel consumption combined: 5.8 – 5.6 l/100 km*; combined CO₂ emissions: 154 - 146 g/km), BMW 840d xDrive Convertible (fuel consumption combined: 6.0 – 5.7 l/100 km*; combined CO₂ emissions: 159 – 151 g/km) and BMW 840d xDrive Gran Coupé (combined fuel consumption: 5.9 – 5.6 l/100 km*; combined CO₂ emissions: 155 - 148 g/km) will be powered by a 250 kW/340 hp inline 6-cylinder engine in the future. The 15 kW/20 hp increase in top-level output also results from further advanced BMW TwinPower Turbo technology. It now includes a multi-stage turbocharger with variable turbine geometry for the high-pressure and low-pressure stages. The maximum torque of 700 Nm is generated alreadybetween 1 750 and 2 250 rpm. In the luxury sports car model range, the new drive technology enables the BMW 840d xDrive Coupé, for example, to improve its acceleration figure from a standing start to 100 km/h by 0.1 seconds to 4.8 seconds. The optimised performance characteristics of the diesel engine are accompanied by precisely adapted fine tuning of the chassis and its control systems.

The new diesel engines for the BMW 3 Series and the BMW 8 Series also represent the latest state of the art with regard to emissions. They feature exhaust gas treatment technology, whose engine-proximate components consist of a diesel oxidation catalytic converter and an SCR coating on the diesel particulate filter. In order to optimally reduce nitrogen oxide (NOX) emissions, a second metering unit is additionally integrated at the outlet of the engine-proximate SCR system.

BMW 1 Series, BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé: Additional engines and new optional extras.
New engines will be available from November 2020 for the BMW 1 Series and the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé. The new BMW 116i (combined fuel consumption: 5.8 – 5.4 l/100 km*; combined CO₂ emissions: 133 – 124 g/km) is powered by a 3-cylinder petrol engine with an output of 80 kW/109 hp and a maximum torque of 190 Nm. It is equipped as standard with a manual 6-speed transmission and accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 10.6 seconds. A 7-speed Steptronic transmission with double clutch is optionally available. In addition, the model range will be expanded to include the new BMW 120i (fuel consumption combined: 5.8 – 5.5 l/100 km*; combined CO₂ emissions: 134 – 126 g/km). Its 4-cylinder petrol engine generates a maximum output of 131 kW/178 hp and a maximum torque of 280 Nm and is combined as standard with a 7-speed Steptronic transmission with double clutch. The new BMW 120i accelerates from a standing start to 100 km/h in 7.0 seconds.

Outstanding economy is the hallmark of the new entry-level diesel engine for the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé. The 3-cylinder diesel engine of the new BMW 216d Gran Coupé (fuel consumption combined: 4.1 – 3.8 l/100 km*; combined CO₂ emissions: 108 – 99 g/km) provides a maximum output of 85 kW/116 hp and a maximum torque of 270 Nm. It transmits its power to a 7-speed Steptronic transmission with double clutch as standard and enables acceleration from zero to 100 km/h in 10.3 seconds.

The range of optional equipment for the BMW 1 Series and the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé is supplemented by the BMW Individual Shadow Line lights. With the black inserts at the upper edge of the headlamps they make the front view even more powerfully expressive.

Urban Cruise Control: Increased comfort and optimised safety when driving in urban traffic.
The increased level of comfort and safety achieved through combined speed and distance control will also be available in numerous current BMW models when driving in city traffic from autumn 2020 onwards. In conjunction with the optional Driving Assistant Professional, the Urban Cruise Control function is available in the BMW 3 Series and BMW 5 Series, the BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo, the BMW 8 Series and the BMW X5, BMW X6, BMW X7, BMW M5, BMW M8, BMW X5 M and BMW X6 M model series. It extends the range of functions of the Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go function by a traffic light recognition function. In addition to vehicles and traffic signs ahead, traffic lights registered by the stereo camera are also taken into account.

In the case of traffic light signals that are clearly related to the lane you are travelling, these are automatically registered by the speed and distance control system. If the traffic light is red, the system decelerates the vehicle to a standstill. A green light signals the continuation of the journey. In a more complex intersection situation where, for example, different light signals apply to different lanes, a traffic light symbol is displayed in the instrument cluster. The driver can then confirm the light signal shown there and continue to use the automatic speed and distance control or control the speed himself. For additional comfort in city traffic there is a drive reminder function. While stationary at a traffic light, the current traffic light phase is displayed in the instrument cluster; at the beginning of the green phase, the driver also receives a signal to start driving.

The Urban Cruise Control function can also be integrated into the car at a later date by means of a Remote Software Upgrade. With the exception of the BMW 8 Series models, this option is available for vehicles of all the above-mentioned series produced from July 2020 onwards and which are equipped with the Driving Assistant Professional.

New digital services for more driving pleasure: BMW News, BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant with new functions, personal profile picture and simple log-in.
The latest generation of the display and control system makes it possible to use new digital services in numerous current BMW models. The BMW Operating System 7, which is available in conjunction with BMW Live Cockpit, BMW Live Cockpit Plus or BMW Live Cockpit Professional, allows the driver to customise what is displayed to a very high degree. From November 2020, audio content will also be tailored to the driver’s wishes and needs with BMW News. Based on the driver’s individual interests, current online news is selected from publisher offerings and broadcast in the form of naturally spoken language via the vehicle's audio system.

The BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant is one of the particularly innovative services that features in current models with BMW Operating System 7. The digital companion, which enables intuitive operation of numerous vehicle functions via voice control (“Hey, BMW”), is constantly gaining new capabilities. From autumn 2020, the operating modes MAX eDrive and AUTO eDrive or ELECTRIC and HYBRID can also be activated in the appropriately equipped plug-in hybrid models by means of a naturally spoken instruction.

Optimised options for creating a driver profile allow further customisation opportunities. From November 2020, the driver can no longer only login by entering the BMW ID manually, but also via the My BMW App as well, making the process very convenient. A QR code generated for this purpose can be displayed on the Control Display, which can be scanned using a smartphone. The personal driver profile data can then be transferred to the vehicle. Also new: The driver can add a photo of his choice to his individual profile.

BMW X1 and BMW X2: New headlamp variants and BMW Individual High Gloss Shadow Line with extended features.
Adaptive LED headlights will be available for the compact BMW X2 Sports Activity Coupé from November 2020. They optimise visibility when driving at night, among other things by means of a high beam matrix function. This feature is able to increase the range of vision while at the same time avoiding any dazzle effect on other road users. To achieve this, the high beam is divided into several LED segments that can be activated and deactivated independently of each other to adapt how the road is illuminated to the respective traffic situation.

In addition, the striking BMW Individual Shadow Line lights are available as a new option for the BMW X2 and the BMW X1. The sporty appearance of the BMW X2 can be further enhanced by the BMW Individual High Gloss Shadow Line with extended features. In addition to the high-gloss black side window surrounds, this option includes a black frame for the BMW kidney grille and tailpipe trims in chrome black.

New paint finishes allow for expressive individualisation.
New additions to the range of paint finishes for numerous models will be introduced in autumn 2020 allowing for even greater levels of individualisation. The new San Remo Green metallic paint finish will also be available for the new BMW 4 Series Coupé in future. For the BMW X5, BMW X6 and BMW X7, the colours Dravit Grey metallic and Sparkling Brown metallic have been added to the range. In addition, the BMW Individual special paintwork finishes Grigio Telesto metallic, Urban Green metallic, Frozen Black metallic, Petrol Mica metallic, Ruby Red metallic, Avus Blue metallic and British Racing Green metallic are also available for the large BMW X models. 

For the BMW i3 (combined fuel consumption: 0.0 l/100 km; combined power consumption: 13.1 kWh/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 0 g/km) and BMW i3s (combined fuel consumption: 0.0 l/100 km; combined power consumption: 14.6 – 14.0 kWh/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 0 g/km) new paint finishes will also be available from November 2020. The purely electrically driven models will be available with paint finishes in Cashmere Silver with accents in BMW i Blue and Galvanic Gold with accents in Frozen Grey metallic and Fluid Black with accents in Frozen Grey metallic.

Munich. The concept of sporty driving pleasure in the premium midsize segment is being redefined and will soon be available to experience in the new BMW 4 Series Coupe. Following a series of exhaustive test drives held as part of the development process to prepare it for series production, the latest incarnation of the two-door model is now embarking on the final phase of dynamic testing. After having their driving qualities honed at the winter testing centre in Arjeplog, Sweden, at the BMW Group’s test centre in Miramas in France, on the Nürburgring’s Nordschleife circuit and at various other race tracks, the prototypes are now returning to their roots: engineers will put the final touches to the chassis technology of the new BMW 4 Series Coupe on the motorways and country roads around the BMW Group’s Research and Innovation Centre (FIZ) in Munich.

Like its overall vehicle concept and design, the 4 Series Coupe’s chassis technology is a more individual composition than ever before. The proportions, aerodynamic properties and weight distribution of the two-door car provide the ideal basis for a chassis set-up focussed unerringly on exhilarating dynamic performance. A direct comparison with the new BMW 3 Series Sedan highlights the new model’s unique profile particularly clearly. The sedan’s impressive drag coefficient, for example, is undercut by 0.015. Plus, the new BMW 4 Series Coupe is 57 millimetres lower than its four-door counterpart and its centre of gravity is 21 millimetres closer to the road as a result.

This all combines with the increased negative camber at the front wheels and the 23-millimetre wider rear track to sharpen the car’s handling characteristics by a significant degree. The sports sedan already boasts extraordinary dynamism, but the new BMW 4 Series Coupe raises agility and lateral acceleration by a sizable margin again.

The development team for the new BMW 4 Series Coupe also took a model-specific approach to incorporating the chassis technology and connecting the suspension to the body. The fruits of their labours will launch the new two-door model straight to the top of its segment in terms of sporting prowess and the driving experience. At the same time, the double-joint spring strut front axle / five-link rear axle configuration means the dialling up of dynamic performance doesn’t come at the expense of excellent comfort on everyday drives and long journeys. Lift-related dampers – which made their debut in the new BMW 3 Series Sedan and offer continuously variable, progressive damping control as a function of spring travel – have been tuned for an even sportier drive. Custom-made tower-to-front end struts and an additional shear panel on the bulkhead optimise steering precision and response, while bracing elements have been added around the rear axle to increase stiffness for improved straightline stability and lateral acceleration.

The model line-up provides another indication of the new BMW 4 Series Coupe’s unwavering commitment to class-leading driving dynamics. The range will now be spearheaded by a BMW M model in the shape of the new BMW M440i xDrive Coupe. Powered by a potent straight-six engine delivering maximum output of 275 kW/374 hp, it will also feature 48V mild-hybrid technology, with a 48V starter-generator and a second battery employed to both ease the load on the engine and act in unison with it. Besides improved efficiency, the principal benefit here is punchier power development when the driver hits the accelerator hard. The additional 8 kW/11 hp generated by the electric boost effect underpins lightning-fast off-the-line getaways and in-gear sprints. The engine’s stunning power delivery, the standalone vehicle concept and the optimised chassis technology’s model-specific configuration combine to endow the BMW M440i xDrive Coupe with outstanding performance credentials. Harnessing the race track expertise of BMW M GmbH, the various elements have been woven together into an overall package of supreme handling agility, precision and poise.

The power generated by the engine in the new BMW M440i xDrive Coupe is channelled to the road via an eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission and the car’s intelligent all-wheel-drive system. The M Sport differential is also on hand to make sure that drive power is deployed to optimum effect in demanding driving situations. The locking effect generated by an electric motor limits speed equalisation between the inside and outside rear wheel when cornering, thereby enhancing traction and handling stability while enabling the driver to power out of bends with considerable dynamic verve. The custom-tuned chassis elastokinematics, exceptionally powerful M Sport brakes and 18-inch M light-alloy wheels with mixed-size tyres are likewise contributory factors in the precisely controllable dynamics of the new BMW M440i xDrive Coupe.

The final round of testing on the car’s home ground will allow the engineers to fast-track their latest findings into the fine-tuning process at the Research and Innovation Centre. The focus here is on ensuring that the dynamic performance attributes of the new BMW 4 Series Coupe crafted on race circuits can also be experienced in normal driving conditions on public roads. Whether darting along winding country routes around Munich or constantly switching between motorway and urban traffic, the new BMW M440i xDrive Coupe epitomises how the unequivocally sporty design of the body and chassis, the bespoke set-up of the steering, brakes and all-wheel-drive system, the pinpoint feedback from the dampers and the precise interventions of the chassis control systems together serve up driving pleasure that thrills and delights – day in, day out.

BMW will introduce a wave of enticing additions to standard specification and broaden the array of options available ex-factory in spring 2019, delivering a further boost to driving pleasure and individuality in many of its model ranges. New design features, exterior paint finishes and light-alloy wheels enhance the sporting appearance of the BMW 2 Series Coupe, BMW 2 Series Convertible, BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo, BMW 4 Series, BMW M4 Coupe (fuel consumption combined: 10.0 – 9.9 l/100 km [28.3 – 28.5 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 227 – 225 g/km) and BMW M4 Convertible (fuel consumption combined: 10.2 – 10.1 l/100 km [27.7 – 28.0 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 232 – 230 g/km). BMW 2 Series Coupe, BMW 2 Series Convertible, BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo: fresh touches enhance sportiness and elegance.
Among the refreshing flourishes enriching the visual sportiness and elegance of the BMW 2 Series Coupe and BMW 2 Series Convertible are darkened rear lights, which will become part of standard specification in March 2019. The high-performance BMW M2 Competition (fuel consumption combined: 10.0 – 9.8 l/100 km [28.3 – 28.8 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 227 – 224 g/km) will likewise come with darkened rear lights as standard. BMW 2 Series Coupe and BMW 2 Series Convertible customers ordering their car in Sport Line specification will find additional bi-colour 17- and 18-inch light-alloy wheels on the options list.

18-inch M light-alloy wheels in twin-spoke design, painted in matt Cerium Grey and with mixed-size tyres, will be offered as a new option for the BMW M240i Coupe (fuel consumption combined: 7.4 – 7.3 l/100 km [38.2 – 38.7 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 168 – 167 g/km), BMW M240i xDrive Coupe (fuel consumption combined: 8.0 – 7.8 l/100 km [35.3 – 36.2 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 181 – 178 g/km), BMW M240i Convertible (fuel consumption combined: 7.6 – 7.6 l/100 km [37.2 – 37.2 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 173 – 172 g/km) and BMW M240i xDrive Convertible (fuel consumption combined: 8.4 – 8.3 l/100 km [33.6 – 34.0 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 191 – 188 g/km). The palette of exterior paint finishes for the particularly sporty six-cylinder BMW 2 Series models now also includes the new Long Beach Blue metallic variant, while the optional interior trim strips in smooth matt Carbon Fibre heighten the cabin’s sporting allure.

All Sport Line model and M Sport model variants of the BMW 2 Series Coupe and BMW 2 Series Convertible come with a black kidney grille surround. And new to the options list for the interior is Dakota leather trim with exclusive stitching.

Dark rear lights will also be included in the standard specification for the BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo from March 2019. Cars with the optional Adaptive LED Headlights also have black inserts for the headlight units, which the M Sport model will complement with a BMW kidney grille, exhaust tailpipe embellishers and exterior mirror caps (optional) in High-gloss Black. Added to which, Jet Black 18-inch M light-alloy wheels in star-spoke design and 19-inch M light-alloy wheels in twin-spoke design with Jet Black polished finish and mixed-size tyres are available for M Sport models as a new and exclusive option. In addition, the exterior colour shade Mineral White metallic can be specified for M Sport cars.

BMW 4 Series, BMW M4 Coupe, BMW M4 Convertible: new paint finishes, light-alloy wheels and leather appointments.
The BMW 4 Series will present an even more alluring proposition from March 2019 thanks to new individualisation options. For example, the stylish elegance of the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe will be showcased to particularly stunning effect by the BMW Individual paint finish Aventurine Red metallic and BMW Individual special paint finish Frozen Dark Grey metallic. The selection of colours available for the BMW 4 Series Coupe and BMW 4 Series Convertible now also includes Mediterranean Blue metallic. Newcomers to the range of optional equipment available for all BMW 4 Series models are 18-inch light-alloy wheels in twin-spoke design and the bi-colour paint variant Orbit Grey, plus 19-inch M light-alloy wheels in twin-spoke design and bi-colour Jet Black with mixed-size tyres.

The interior also contains some new and distinctive touches in the form of the Mocha colour shade for the optional Dakota leather trim on Sport Line, Luxury Line and M Sport cars and interior trim strips in Carbon Fibre, which are available in conjunction with M Sport specification. The M Sport and Sport Line variants of the BMW 4 Series will now be fitted with black rear light screens and a BMW kidney grille surround in High-gloss Black as standard.

Darkened rear lights are also set to adorn the rear of the BMW M4 Coupe and BMW M4 Convertible. The BMW Individual paint finish Frozen Dark Blue II will be offered as an option for the two high-performance models from March 2019. Plus, the BMW M4 Coupe with M Competition package can be ordered with two new bi-colour leather trim options. BMW Individual fine-grain Merino full leather trim is available in the Sakhir Orange/Black and Silverstone/ Black combinations.

Exclusive dynamics: new M Sport Individual equipment line for the BMW 4 Series.
A new and highly desirable addition to the selection of equipment lines available from March 2019 for the BMW 4 Series Coupe, BMW 4 Series Convertible and BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe is the M Sport Individual model. Here, signature M features designed to fuel dynamic driving pleasure team up with suitably exclusive options from BMW Individual. The new equipment line includes the BMW Individual paint finish Tanzanite Blue metallic, an M Aerodynamics package, BMW Individual High-gloss Shadow Line, 19-inch BMW Individual light-alloy wheels in V-spoke design with mixed-size tyres, and variable sport steering. Rear-wheel-drive models also get M Sport suspension.

Among the features engendering a sporty and luxurious ambience in the interior are sports seats for the driver and front passenger, BMW Individual extended leather upholstery Merino in Opal White, heated seats, an M leather steering wheel, the lighting package and BMW Individual interior trim strips in Piano Finish Black. The BMW 4 Series Coupe and BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe add a BMW Individual headliner in Anthracite. Customers can also choose from a wide range of options when it comes to exterior paint finishes, light-alloy wheels, leather upholstery and interior trim strips.

BMW 5 Series range: BMW Individual Composition with M Sport features.
A neatly blended selection of super-exclusive design and equipment features distinguishes the BMW Individual Composition with M Sport features available for the BMW 5 Series Sedan and BMW 5 Series Touring from March 2019. The new option includes BMW Individual paintwork in Azurite Black metallic, Carbon Black metallic, Champagne Quartz metallic, Almandine Brown metallic or Rhodonite Silver metallic, 20-inch BMW Individual light-alloy wheels, BMW Individual extended leather upholstery Merino in Tartufo, Caramel or Smoke White, comfort seats with active seat ventilation, a leather-covered BMW Individual instrument panel, a BMW Individual headliner in Anthracite and BMW Individual interior trim strips.

The exquisite options for the exterior and interior team up with an M Aerodynamics package, M Sport suspension, M Sport braking system, an M leather steering wheel, illuminated M door sill plates, BMW Individual High-gloss Shadow Line trim and kidney grille bars in High-gloss Black. BMW 8 Series Coupe now available with a richer variety of paint finishes and leather appointments.
The show-stopping design and luxurious interior ambience of the new BMW 8 Series Coupe can be tailored even more precisely to the owner’s personal style from spring 2019 thanks to a wider array of exterior paint finishes and leather appointments. The spectrum of body colours available has expanded to include the BMW Individual paint finishes Aventurine Red metallic and Tanzanite Blue metallic and the BMW Individual special paint finishes Brilliant White metallic, Frozen Dark Brown metallic, Frozen Arctic Grey metallic, Frozen Cashmere Silver metallic, Frozen Dark Silver metallic, Frozen Brilliant White metallic and Pure Metal Silver metallic.

Meanwhile, BMW Individual fine-grain Merino full leather trim will appeal to those looking to lend a particularly exclusive feel to the design of their car’s interior. It can be ordered in Black, Ivory White and Cognac, as well as the Fiona Red/Black, Tartufo/Black, Ivory White/Tartufo and Midnight Blue/Black combinations. Also new to the options list are BMW Individual fine wood interior trim strips in Black Ash Silver Effect high-gloss.

BMW X5: new exterior colours and leather appointments.
The range of body colour shades and leather appointments for the new BMW X5 will also be further expanded in spring 2019. The Sports Activity Vehicle will now be available with the exterior paint finishes Sophisto Grey Brilliant Effect metallic and Terra Brown metallic and BMW Individual paint finishes Ruby Black metallic, Pyrite Brown metallic, Ametrine metallic and Tanzanite Blue metallic.

A selection of additional options will help customers bring a personalised flavour to the interior of the new BMW X5. New arrivals include BMW Individual extended leather upholstery Merino in Ivory White/Midnight Blue combination and BMW Individual fine-grain Merino full leather trim in Black, Ivory White, Tartufo, Coffee and Ivory White/Midnight Blue. And from April 2019, BMW Individual interior trim strips in Fineline Black fine wood with aluminium inlays will also be available as an option.

Sales get underway of the BMW X2 M35i; BMW X1 xDrive20i, BMW X2 xDrive20i and BMW X1 xDrive25i now with gasoline particulate filter.
The BMW X2 will welcome a new top-of-the-line model variant in spring 2019. The market launch des BMW X2 M35i sees the extrovert design of the compact Sports Activity Coupes link up with an extremely powerful four-cylinder petrol engine. The new 2.0-litre unit with M TwinPower Turbo technology generates maximum output of 225 kW/306 hp and peak torque of 450 Nm (332 lb-ft), and accelerates the BMW X2 M35i from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.0 seconds. Power transfer is via an eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission and BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive. An M Sport braking system and mechanical M Sport differential at the front axle also play their part in endowing the flagship X2 with its standout sporting prowess.

More petrol variants of the BMW X1 and BMW X2 will boast further reduced emissions from March 2019. The BMW X1 xDrive20i (fuel consumption combined: 6.7 l/100 km [42.2 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 152 g/km), BMW X2 xDrive20i (fuel consumption combined: 6.7 – 6.5 l/100 km [42.2 – 43.5 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 152 – 147 g/km) and BMW X1 xDrive25i (fuel consumption combined: 6.8 l/100 km [41.5 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 155 g/km) will now be fitted with a gasoline particulate filter to cut levels of particulate emissions.

Munich. From the spring of 2017, the new BMW 5 Series, the sportiest and most innovative business sedan in its segment, will also set new standards in terms of efficiency. The new BMW 520d EfficientDynamics Edition impresses with a combined fuel consumption level of 4.3 to 3.9 litres per 100 kilometres (combined CO2 emission level: 114 – 102 g/km). Also, from March 2017, groundbreaking innovations in the areas of networking and operating, now being presented for the first time in the BMW 5 Series, will find their way into further model series – the digital parking space search service On-Street Parking Information and the live tile arrangement of the menu on the Control Display.

With a further extended range of driver assistance systems, the BMW 7 Series is making further advancements on the way to automated driving. The spectrum now also includes, amongst other things, the Lane Departure Assistant, ActiveAssist Collision Avoidance, Cross-Traffic and Wrong-Way Driving Alert as well as the Remote 3D View function. From the spring of 2017, BMW 6 Series models will underpin their exclusive and sporty aura with attractive innovations included in the range of special equipment options. The Digital Charging Service, an innovative feature for convenient and economical charging of the high-voltage battery, will become available exclusively for BMW i and BMW iPerformance automobiles. From March 2017, new and exceedingly high-quality options will be added to the range of special equipment for the BMW 3 Series and the BMW 4 Series as well as for the models BMW X5 and BMW X6.

BMW 520d EfficientDynamics Edition: greater driving pleasure, less CO2. 
As from March 2017, the driving pleasure that is characteristic of the new BMW 5 Series Sedan will be combined with the lowest fuel consumption and emission levels in this vehicle segment. The new BMW 520d EfficientDynamics Edition is powered by a 2-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine featuring BMW TwinPower Turbo technology, delivering a maximum power output of 140 kW/190 hp and a peak torque of 400 Newton metres available between 1,750 and 2,500 rpm. The Sedan accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds and achieves a combined fuel consumption of between 4.3 and 3.9 litres per 100 kilometres and CO2 emission levels of between 114 and 102 grams per kilometres (figures as per EU test cycle, depending on selected tyre size). The power unit of the BMW 520d EfficientDynamics Edition features, inter alia, a turbo charger mounted on anti-friction bearings, high pressure exhaust gas recirculation, a map-controlled oil pump and further developed Common Rail direct injection technology, the solenoid injectors of which ensure precise fuel dosing with a maximum pressure of 2,000 bar.

In addition to the optimised efficiency of both the engine and the standard 8-speed Steptronic transmission, enhanced aerodynamic characteristics as well as the Sedan’s greatly reduced weight vs. its predecessor also contribute towards achieving the favourable fuel consumption and CO2 emission levels. Moreover, in order to optimise emission behaviour, the BMW 520d EfficientDynamics Edition is equipped with BMW BluePerformance technology, which in addition to the particulate filter, an oxidation catalyst and a NOX storage catalyst, also features an SCR catalytic converter with AdBlue injection technology reducing nitrogen oxide emissions even further.

On-Street Parking Information in further BMW models and available for additional towns and cities.
Starting in March 2017, thanks to intelligent networking, drivers will be provided in a large number of BMW models not only with real-time information on the traffic situation, but will also receive assistance in finding a parking space in major urban areas. The BMW ConnectedDrive Service Real Time Traffic Information (RTTI), which is available in conjunction with the navigation system Professional, will also be complemented by the unique On-Street Parking Information function. Similar to the RTTI feature, this digital service uses intelligent networking to assess the availability of free road-side parking spaces from both pre-stored and current data. The calculated probability of finding a free parking space at the destination is displayed to the driver by means of coloured markings on the navigation map depicted on the Control Display.

In future, the On-Street Parking Information service will make finding a parking space far easier in as many as ten German cities. In addition to Munich, Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt and Stuttgart, the availability of parking spaces will also be analysed in real time in Nuremberg, Bremen and Hanover as from March 2017. The function, which is being featured for the first time in the new BMW 5 Series Sedan, is now available for all current models with the exception of the BMW X1, the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer and the BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer.

Even more intuitive: Navigation system Professional with animated buttons arranged as tiles.
The latest innovations for the display and control concept, which made their debut in the new BMW 5 Series, will be available for further series as from March 2017. In conjunction with the navigation system Professional, the Control Display of the iDrive system will, thanks to a new enhanced graphic representation, facilitate even more intuitive operation in the BMW 7 Series and BMW 6 Series as well as in all variants of the BMW M6. The on-board monitor displays menus in the form of horizontally arranged buttons with a tile structure. These six buttons, the order of which can be individually configured by the driver, are displayed in the main menu on two sides of the screen. This ensures more convenient and faster access to the desired content. A new menu option is “Messages”, allowing access to incoming text messages and e-mails as well as information on the vehicle’s operating condition.

These functions, which are available using the menu selection, are symbolised by animated graphics in live mode. For example, in the overview and by means of a displayed map section, the navigation menu button already displays the route the vehicle is currently travelling on, whilst the entertainment menu graphics show the title of the song currently playing, including album cover, or the name of the selected radio station.

BMW 7 Series with additional driver assistance systems and Remote 3D View.
From the spring of 2017, there will be an even broader choice of driver assistance systems to ensure even greater driving pleasure, comfort and safety in 7 Series models. From March 2017, the systems will be included in the optional equipment package Driving Assistant Plus. They offer the driver effective assistance in many different situations, leading the way to automated driving. For example, the Steering and Lane Guidance Assistant being presented in the luxury sedans for the first time will be complemented by the Lane Change Assistant, which can be used when driving on motorways and other roads with separated directional carriageways. At speeds of between 70 and 180 km/h, the driver can initiate a lane change by holding the indicator lever in the one-touch position. The system sensors then analyse the situation on the neighbouring carriageway. If they detect that this lane is clear and there are no vehicles approaching at a high speed, the steering assistant conveniently helps the driver to change lanes.  

A further addition to the range of Driving Assistant Plus functions is the ActiveAssist Collision Avoidance system. Should a rapid lane change become necessary in order to avoid a suddenly appearing obstacle, it provides steering assistance at speeds of up to 160 km/h. The Cross Traffic Alert function, also included in the equipment package as from March, provides visual and acoustic signals if the traffic signs identified by the stereo camera should indicate that the driver has overlooked a road with right of way. The new Driving Assistant Plus features are complemented by the Wrong-Way Driving Alert feature. This system analyses navigation data in order to provide information on hazardous situations. It intervenes when the vehicle is driving in the wrong direction into one-way streets, roundabouts or motorway entrances.

In conjunction with the Surround View system, a feature that provides assistance with a combination of camera images taken from several different perspectives when the vehicle is manoeuvring in tricky situations, drivers of a BMW 7 Series will in future also have access to the Remote 3D View feature, the Surround View system of which provides them with permanent access to a three-dimensional live image of their vehicle and its surroundings, this being transmitted to their smartphone via the BMW Connected feature.

New option for the BMW 3 Series and the BMW 4 Series: Multifunctional instrument display.
From March 2017, a novel feature in the field of display technology will also ensure an even more intensive driving experience in BMW 3 Series and BMW 4 Series models, for which the multifunctional instrument display will be optionally available. The fully digital TFT colour display featuring black panel technology for the cockpit provides driving-related information in an individually selectable design. The colour scheme, graphic representation and choice of contents vary according to the driving mode selected via the Driving Experience Control button.

In COMFORT mode, the display shows a conventional image of the four round instruments using the corresponding graphics. A zoom function highlights the respective driving speed and engine speed. In ECO PRO mode, additional information on current fuel efficiency replaces the rev counter. In SPORT mode, the current speed is displayed digitally in the form of a large central figure, whilst the selected gear is indicated in the centre of the rev counter.

BMW 6 Series with distinctive accents for the exterior and interior.
From the spring of 2017, new and attractive special equipment features will also be available for the BMW 6 Series. These options, which are on offer exclusively for the BMW 6 Series Coupe, the BMW 6 Series Convertible and the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe, underscore the sporting character of the three luxury class models. The choice of body colours will be complemented by the brand-new variant Sonic Speed Blue metallic. In conjunction with the M Sports package, new 20-inch, M bicolour light alloy wheels boasting an M-specific double spoke design will be available, including mixed tyres and emergency running characteristics as well as interior trims in a carbon fibre look.

Comfortable, eco-friendly, cost efficient: Digital Charging Service for BMW i and BMW iPerformance automobiles.
The BMW i brand has become a pioneer in the field of sustainable individual mobility, not only thanks to groundbreaking vehicle concepts and drive technologies, but also with numerous innovative services. The latest innovation in this area is the Digital Charging Service for intelligent charging of the high-voltage battery featured in BMW i and BMW iPerformance automobiles. So the BMW Group is the first carmaker to offer a system that conveniently helps the driver to make use of favourable electricity tariffs or a high proportion of self-generated solar energy during the charging process.

In order to achieve best possible charging cost efficiency, the BMW Digital Charging Service takes into account not only tariffs with a dynamically varying price in the daytime, but also those that include predetermined highest and lowest prices. As a result, it is possible, for example, to take maximum advantage of particularly favourable overnight rates.

In conjunction with the new BMW i Wallbox Connect, the Digital Charging Service can also optimise the use of electricity from a domestic photovoltaic system. In this case, the amount of locally generated solar electricity is predicted based on the system’s performance data and the current weather forecast. Using this data, it is also possible to determine the proportion of solar electricity that is not consumed in the home at the time of being produced and can, therefore, be used for completely emission-free mobility. As a result, fully electric and/or hybrid vehicles are integrated as best possible into the domestic environment and the customer’s individual energy concept.

The BMW Digital Charging Service automatically schedules the start and finish of each charging process with a view to best possible cost efficiency or maximum proportion of green electricity respectively. In the process, the charging schedule always ensures that the vehicle has the maximum battery capacity at the desired departure time and that the interior is also fully air-conditioned. The unique service is an integral part of BMW ConnectedDrive Services available for all BMW i and BMW iPerformance automobiles.

New light alloy wheels for the BMW X5 and the BMW X6.
In the spring of 2017, the range of optional equipment available ex factory for the models BMW X5 and BMW X6 will also include for the

first time 21-inch light alloy wheels previously only available exclusively from the Original BMW Accessory range. The M light alloy wheels boasting a double spoke design and bicolour look with burnished spokes come with mixed tyres with emergency running characteristics. They are available in conjunction with the M Sports Package for all model variants with the exception of the BMW X5 sDrive25d, BMW X5 xDrive25d and the BMW X5 xDrive40e iPerformance.

BMW X5 M and BMW X6 M now with the navigation package ConnectedDrive as standard.
As from the spring of 2017, the range of standard equipment for the BMW X5 M and the BMW X6 M will be supplemented by the navigation package ConnectedDrive, also featuring telephony with wireless charging. It includes among other options the navigation system Professional, a smartphone holder with which inductive charging of a mobile phone is possible, the RTTI service including On-Street Parking Information, a WiFi hotspot, ConnectedDrive Services, Concierge Services and Remote Services.

Met de wereldpremière van de krachtigste dieselmotor in een productiemodel van BMW en de introductie van drie BMW iPerformance modellen wordt het gamma van de BMW 7 Reeks vanaf de zomer van 2016 nog veelzijdiger en fascinerender. Tegelijkertijd worden de BMW 1 Reeks en de BMW 2 Reeks leverbaar met benzinemotoren van de nieuwste generatie. BMW 7 Reeks: Nieuwe high-performance dieselmotor en drie BMW iPerformance versies.
Dankzij de nieuwste technische innovaties, die vanaf de zomer van 2016 leverbaar zijn, vormt de BMW 7 Reeks in de topklasse de maatstaf voor dynamiek en efficiency. Een compleet nieuw ontwikkelde zescilinder-in-lijn dieselmotor debuteert in de BMW 750d xDrive en de BMW 750Ld xDrive. De BMW TwinPower Turbo technologie in de drielitermotor omvat vier turbo’s, waarvan de nauwkeurige aansturing voor een vroege afgifte van de trekkracht zorgt, en die trekkracht blijft beschikbaar tot hoge toerentallen. Met een maximumvermogen van 294 kW (400 pk) en een maximumkoppel van 760 Nm is de nieuwe zescilinder de krachtigste dieselmotor ooit in een BMW. Dankzij de sublieme vermogensafgifte en de standaard intelligente vierwielaandrijving accelereert de BMW 750d xDrive van 0 naar 100 km/u in 4,6 seconden (BMW 750Ld xDrive: 4,7 seconden). Verder kenmerkt de nieuwe top-of-the-range dieselmotor zich door een buitengewoon laag brandstofverbruik, dat uniek is gezien het hoge prestatieniveau. Het gecombineerde brandstofverbruik van de BMW 750d xDrive en de BMW 750Ld xDrive ligt tussen de 5,7 en 5,9 l/100 km en de CO2-emissies liggen tussen 149 en 154 g/km (volgens EU-testcyclus, afhankelijk van gekozen bandenmaat).

De BMW 7 Reeks iPerformance versies zijn net als de nieuwe dieselvarianten leverbaar vanaf de zomer van 2016. De plug-inhybride aandrijving omvat BMW eDrive technologie van BMW i en wordt leverbaar voor de BMW 740e iPerformance met standaardwielbasis, de BMW 740Le iPerformance met lange wielbasis en de BMW 740Le xDrive iPerformance met intelligente vierwielaandrijving. Samen leveren de verbrandingsmotor en de elektromotor in deze versies een systeemvermogen van 240 kW (326 pk), waarbij de intelligente aansturing voor een directe vermogensafgifte en een ongeëvenaarde efficiency zorgt. Ook kan volledig elektrisch een afstand van maximaal 44-48 kilometer worden afgelegd (BMW 740Le xDrive iPerformance: 41-45 kilometer). De sprint van 0 naar 100 km/u vergt 5,4 seconden in de BMW 740e iPerformance, 5,5 seconden in de BMW 740Le iPerformance en 5,3 seconden in de BMW 740Le xDrive iPerformance. Het gemiddelde gecombineerde brandstofverbruik per 100 kilometer ligt tussen de 2,0 en 2,2 liter (BMW 740Le xDrive iPerformance: 2,1-2,5 liter). De CO2-emissie bedraagt afhankelijk van de uitvoering 45-50 g/km (BMW 740e iPerformance), 45-51 g/km (BMW 740Le iPerformance) en 49-56 g/km voor de BMW 740Le xDrive iPerformance (volgens EU-testcyclus voor plug-inhybrides, afhankelijk van gekozen bandenmaat).

BMW M Performance-uitvoeringen van de BMW 1 Reeks en BMW 2 Reeks: nieuwe motorengeneratie met meer vermogen en betere efficiency.
Vanaf juli 2016 wordt het bijzonder sportieve karakter van de BMW M Performance uitvoeringen van de BMW 1 Reeks en de BMW 2 Reeks nog verder onderstreept door een bijzonder krachtige zescilinder benzinemotor van de nieuwste generatie. De nieuw ontwikkelde drielitermotor met M Performance Twin Power Turbo techniek heeft een vermogen van 250 kW (340 pk), wat 10 kW (14 pk) meer is dan de vorige motor. Het maximumkoppel bedraagt 500 Nm. Daardoor leveren de BMW M Performance modellen nu prestaties die vergelijkbaar zijn met die van de BMW 1 Reeks M Coupé, die van 2011 tot 2012 in productie was. Ze leggen de sprint van 0 naar 100 km/u tot 0,3 seconden sneller af dan hun voorganger, terwijl het brandstofverbruik en de CO2-emissies volgens de EU-testcyclus maximaal 7% lager zijn. Het toegenomen vermogen en de extra dynamiek komen ook tot uiting in de nieuwe typeaanduidingen voor de BMW M140i driedeurs en de BMW M140i vijfdeurs, de BMW M240i Coupé en de BMW M240i Cabrio. Ze zijn optioneel verkrijgbaar met de intelligente vierwielaandrijving BMW xDrive.

Met de standaard handgeschakelde zesversnellingsbak sprinten de BMW M140i driedeurs en de BMW M140i vijfdeurs van 0 naar 100 km/u in 4,8 seconden en met de als optie leverbare achttraps Steptronic sporttransmissie in 4,6 seconden. Het brandstofverbruik bedraagt volgens de EU-testcyclus 7,8 l/100 km (automaat: 7,1 l/100 km) en de CO2-emissie 179 g/km (163 g/km). De BMW M140i xDrive driedeurs en de BMW M140i xDrive vijfdeurs worden standaard geleverd met een achttraps Steptronic sporttransmissie en ze bereiken de 100 km/u vanaf stilstand in 4,4 seconden. Hun gecombineerde brandstofverbruik is 7,4 l/100 km en hun CO2-emissie is 169 g/km.

De BMW M Performance versies van de BMW 2 Reeks zijn optioneel leverbaar met intelligente vierwielaandrijving BMW xDrive en zijn dan standaard uitgerust met de achttraps Steptronic sporttransmissie. De BMW M240i Coupe sprint van 0 naar 100 km/u in 4,8 seconden (automaat: 4,6 seconden) en heeft volgens de EU-testcyclus een gecombineerd verbruik van 7,8 l/100 km (7,1 l/100 km). De CO2-emissie bedraagt 179 g/km (163 g/km). De BMW M240i xDrive Coupé sprint van 0 naar 100 km/u in 4,4 seconden en heeft een gemiddeld verbruik van 7,4 l/100 km en een CO2-emissie van 169 g/km.

De BMW M240i Cabrio accelereert van 0 naar 100 km/u in 4,9 seconden (automaat: 4,7 seconden). Het gemiddelde verbruik is 8,3 l/100 km (automaat: 7,4 l/100 km) en de CO2-emissie bedraagt 189 g/km (169 g/km). De BMW M240i xDrive Cabrio sprint van 0 naar 100 km/u in 4,6 seconden en heeft een gemiddeld brandstofverbruik van 7,8 l/100 km (EU-testcyclus) en een CO2-emissie van 179 g/km.

BMW 1 Reeks, BMW 2 Reeks Coupé en BMW 2 Reeks Cabrio: nieuwe viercilinder benzinemotor voor acht versies.
Vanaf juli 2016 zijn tal van uitvoeringen van de BMW 1 Reeks en BMW 2 Reeks leverbaar met motoren van de nieuwe generatie. Twee varianten van de BMW 1 Reeks driedeurs, de BMW 1 Reeks vijfdeurs, de BMW 2 Reeks Coupé en de BMW 2 Reeks Cabrio worden aangedreven door nieuwe viercilinder benzinemotoren die een nog betere combinatie van rijplezier en efficiency bieden. De tweelitermotoren zijn voorzien van de nieuwste BMW TwinPower Turbo technologie met een Twin Scroll turbo, directe brandstofinjectie, VALVETRONIC en Double VANOS. Het vermogen wordt aan de achterwielen afgegeven via een standaard handgeschakelde zesversnellingsbak of optioneel via een achttraps Steptronic-transmissie.

De nieuwe motoren zorgen in de BMW 120i driedeurs en de BMW 120i vijfdeurs voor een vermogenstoename van 5 kW (7 pk) naar 135 kW (184 pk). Met de handgeschakelde zesversnellingsbak of de optioneel verkrijgbare achttraps Steptronic transmissie accelereren beide modellen van 0 naar 100 km/u in 7,1 seconden. Het gecombineerde brandstofverbruik ligt op 5,7-6,1 l/100 km (automaat: 5,5-5,9 l/100 km). De CO2 emissie bedraagt 131-140 g/km (126-135 g/km, volgens EU-testcyclus, afhankelijk van gekozen bandenmaat).
Het vermogen van de BMW 125i driedeurs en de BMW 125i vijfdeurs is met 5 kW (7 pk) toegenomen. Met een vermogen van 165 kW (224 pk) en de inmiddels tot de standaarduitrusting behorende achttraps Steptronic transmissie sprinten beide versies van 0 naar 100 km/u in 6,1 seconden. De verbeterde dynamiek gaat gepaard met een lager brandstofverbruik van 5,7-5,9 l/100 km en een CO2 emissie van 130-134 g/km (volgens EU-testcyclus, afhankelijk van gekozen bandenmaat).

De nieuwe versie van de 135 kW (184 pk) sterke viercilindermotor verbetert ook de efficiency van de BMW 220i Coupé en de BMW 220i Cabrio. De BMW 220i Coupé accelereert van 0 naar 100 km/u in 7,1 seconden (automaat: 7,2 seconden) en heeft een gemiddeld verbruik van 5,7-6,1 l/100 km (5,5-5,9 l/100 km) alsmede een CO2-emissie van 131-140 g/km (126-135 g/km). De BMW 220i Cabrio sprint van 0 naar 100 km/u in 7,5 seconden (7,7 seconden) en het gemiddelde brandstofverbruik bedraagt nu 6,1-6,5 l/100 km (5,7-6,1 liter). De CO2-emissie is 139-149 g/km 131-(140 g/km, volgens EU-testcyclus, afhankelijk van gekozen bandenmaat).

In juli 2016 krijgen de sportiefste viercilinderuitvoeringen van de BMW 2 Reeks een vermogensupgrade van 5 kW (7 pk) naar 185 kW (252 pk) ten opzichte van hun voorgangers, de BMW 230i Coupé en BMW 230i Cabrio. Deze uitvoeringen zijn standaard ook voorzien van een handgeschakelde zesversnellingsbak en optioneel van een achttraps Steptronic of een achttraps Steptronic sport transmissie. De sprint van 0 naar 100 km/u kost de BMW 230i Coupe 5,8 seconden (automaat: 5,6 seconden). Het brandstofverbruik is 6,2-6,4 l/100 km (5,7-5,9 l/100 km) bij een CO2-emissie van 142-147 g/km (130-134 g/km). De BMW 230i Cabrio accelereert van 0 naar 100 km/u in 6,1 seconden (automaat: 5,9 seconden) en heeft een gemiddeld verbruik van 6,5-6,8 l/100 km (6,0-6,2 l/100 km). De CO2-emissie bedraagt 149-155 g/km (137-142 g/km, volgens EU-testcyclus, afhankelijk van gekozen bandenmaat).

Kenmerkende designdetails voor de BMW iPerformance-modellen.
Met de introductie van de eerste plug-inhybride modellen heeft BMW de BMW eDrive techniek – bestaande uit elektromotoren, high-performance lithium-ion-accu’s en intelligent energiemanagement – aan het gamma toegevoegd. Behalve de drie plug-inhybride uitvoeringen van de BMW 7 Reeks met 15 procent bijtelling, die vanaf juli 2016 leverbaar zijn, zijn in drie andere segmenten ook versies leverbaar die een verbrandingsmotor combineren met een elektromotor. Deze dragen voortaan de modelaanduidingen BMW 225xe iPerformance Active Tourer, BMW 330e iPerformance Berline en BMW X5 xDrive40e iPerformance. Dankzij de technologietransfer vanuit BMW i bieden ze een nieuw niveau van dynamiek en een grensverleggende efficiency, wat wordt onderstreept door kenmerkende designdetails aan de buitenzijde.

De BMW iPerformance zijn optioneel te voorzien van specifieke designdetails, zoals een ‘eDrive’ logo op de C-stijlen, een BMW i logo op de zijkanten, blauwe naafdoppen en een BMW-grille met sleuven in de typerende kleur BMW i blue. Vanaf december 2016 zijn deze nieuwe features optioneel leverbaar voor de BMW X5 xDrive40e iPerformance; voor alle overige BMW iPerformance modellen zijn ze al vanaf juli 2016 optioneel leverbaar. Andere uitrustingsdetails die oorspronkelijk voor de BMW i3 en de BMW i8 zijn ontwikkeld, zijn nu ook standaard of optioneel leverbaar voor alle BMW iPerformance modellen. Dit zijn onder meer hybridespecifieke BMW ConnectedDrive services en het complete BMW i 360° ELECTRIC-pakket.

Nieuw van BMW ConnectedDrive: BMW iDrive met een geoptimaliseerd menudisplay, een telefoonsysteem met draadloze oplaadmogelijkheid en een WLAN-hotspot voor meer modellen.
Vanaf de zomer van 2016 zijn drie nieuwe features beschikbaar op het gebied van BMW ConnectedDrive. Die waren voorheen alleen beschikbaar voor de BMW 7 Reeks, de BMW 6 Reeks en de BMW X3 en de BMW X4. Voortaan zijn ze ook beschikbaar voor de BMW 1 Reeks, de BMW 2 Reeks Coupé en de BMW 2 Reeks Cabrio, de BMW 3 Reeks, de BMW 4 Reeks, de BMW X5 en de BMW X6. Een nieuw, bijzonder duidelijk ingedeeld menu en een hogere resolutie voor de Control Display optimaliseren de bediening van de auto, het infotainmentsysteem, het navigatiesysteem en communicatiefuncties via de iDrive controller. In combinatie met het navigatiesysteem Professional toont de display het hoofdmenu en de bedieningsopties voor de diverse functies niet langer in lijsten, maar in de vorm van naast elkaar geplaatste knopsymbolen. Verder is de spraakherkenningsfunctie van het navigatiesysteem Professional aangevuld met de functie Natural Language, waarmee gesproken instructies niet alleen als vooraf bepaalde tekstmodules kunnen worden gegeven, maar ook met vrijelijk geformuleerd in complete zinnen.

Het optionele telefoonsysteem met draadloze oplaadmogelijkheid biedt meer comfort bij het gebruik van mobiele telefoons in de auto. Inductief oplaadbare smartphones kunnen draadloos worden opgeladen tijdens het rijden door ze op de hiervoor bestemde plek op de tunnelconsole te leggen. Niet alleen wordt de smartphone gekoppeld aan het bedieningssysteem van de auto, het nieuwe systeem zorgt ook voor verbinding met de buitenantenne van de auto. Ook omvat het systeem twee USB-poorten en een WLAN hotspotfunctie, die high-speed internet-connectiviteit biedt voor maximaal acht mobiele apparaten.

Groter aanbod aan lederen bekleding voor de M Sport uitvoeringen van de BMW 1 Reeks, BMW 2 Reeks, BMW 3 Reeks en BMW 4 Reeks; nieuw entertainmentsysteem voor de achterpassagiers leverbaar voor de BMW X5 en de BMW X6.
Dankzij nieuwe personaliseringsmogelijkheden voor het interieur zijn de M Sport modellen vanaf juli 2016 nog aantrekkelijker. Doordat die qua kleurstelling perfect past bij de dynamische M Sport, is de lederen bekleding Dakota in de kleur zwart met blauwe stiksels voortaan leverbaar voor de BMW 1 Reeks, de BMW 2 Reeks Coupé, de BMW 2 Reeks Cabrio en voor alle uitvoeringen van de BMW 3 Reeks en de BMW 4 Reeks. In het geval van de BMW 3 Reeks en de BMW 4 Reeks is voor zowel de M Sport als de uitvoeringen Luxury Line en Sport Line nu de bekleding Dakota Veneto Beige verkrijgbaar in combinatie met de interieurkleur zwart.

Upgrade van de motoren van de BMW 4 Reeks – Uitbreiding van het aantal motorisaties die met de intelligente vierwielaandrijving BMW xDrive uitgerust kunnen worden binnen de BMW 7 Reeks en de BMW 2 Reeks Gran Tourer – Nieuwe optionele uitrustingsmogelijkheden voor de BMW 6 Reeks (incl wireless charging) en de BMW 7 Reeks (Incl. BMW, een van de meest succesvolle premiumconstructeurs, staat ook op een goede plaats in het segment van de vierwielaangedreven wagens, een segment waar het merk reeds 30 jaar actief is.
