Matthieu Lussiana (FR) has won the 2015 BMW Motorrad Race Trophy. In
the second season of this special customer racing project a total of
104 BMW racers from 22 different nations and six continents took part.
They raced for 73 different teams in 24 individual championship
classes. The best of them were given their awards at the 2015 BMW
Motorrad Motorsport Season Finale in the Double Cone in the BMW Welt
in Munich (DE) on Saturday. At this event, the international BMW
Motorrad Motorsport family met up to bid farewell to the 2015 season.

One of the highlights of the evening was the tribute to the most
successful participants in the 2015 BMW Motorrad Race Trophy. The top
15 were recognised with trophies and a total prize purse of 100,000
Euros. Winner Lussiana received a winner’s cheque for 20,000 Euros. He
collected his Race Trophy points in the Brazilian Moto 1000 GP series
(MT1GP), where he won his second title in a row on his BMW Motorrad
Petronas Racing BMW S 1000 RR. In the nine races contested in the
MT1GP during the scoring period of the 2015 BMW Motorrad Race Trophy
(17th November 2014 to 22nd November 2015), Lussiana celebrated seven
wins and two second places. Including the bonus points the riders
received for title wins, pole positions etc., he picked up a total of
436.69 Race Trophy points.

“It is always a great satisfaction to win a championship title
or a trophy, especially the BMW Motorrad Race Trophy with so many
riders participating from all around the world,” said Lussiana, who
sent a video message to Munich, as he is competing this weekend in the
2015 season finale of the MT1GP in Curitiba (BR). “It was really
exciting because the rankings were changing with every race weekend
throughout the season. So the suspense was there until the very last
race, and I tried my best to collect the maximum number of points to
win that trophy. Since November last year I have won seven races and
finished second twice, so I think I found the right way to be fast,
consistent and in perfect harmony with my bike. This season, I claimed
my second title in the Brazilian Moto 1000 GP championship with BMW. I
raced the new BMW S 1000 RR model and it was incredible - the frame,
the electronics, the engine. And then my team and I did a great job
setting the bike up for the different requirements of the every single
race track. I am very proud to have represented the BMW brand in Brazil.”

Second place went to Jordan Szoke (CA), the 2015 champion in the
Canadian Superbike Championship (CSBK), with 429.67 points. Third was
Roland Resch (AT), the 2015 champion in the Superbike class of the
Alpe Adria Road Racing Championship (AARR SBK), with 414.73 points
(see full final rankings below).

“We can look back on a great second season for the BMW Motorrad
Race Trophy,” said Heiner Faust, BMW Motorrad Senior Vice President
Sales and Marketing. “The number of over 100 participants is
impressive and shows how this project is appreciated among the BMW
racers around the globe. The fact that our top three finishers race in
championships on three different continents, and that the top 15
riders come from 11 different countries and ten racing series, is
undoubtedly the proof that the BMW Motorrad Race Trophy really is a
global success model. But it is not only that that makes us proud. In
2015, our BMW Motorrad Motorsport customers have continued their
streak of success on the race tracks all around the world.”

“With their achievements, our BMW privateers helped to
consolidate the outstanding position of BMW Motorrad in national and
international racing, and demonstrated that our BMW S 1000 RR is one
of the most competitive Superbikes on the circuits all around the
globe,” Faust continued. “We want to thank our privateer riders and
teams for all their efforts, and want to take the opportunity tonight
to celebrate their successes together with them. It is great to see
the large international BMW Motorrad Motorsport family coming together
here in Munich. Over the last years we have continuously strengthened
the relationships with our teams and riders on all continents. The
result is a unique community, which will continue to grow further in
the future. Our customers are our racing family. For that reason, it
is very important for us to support them as best we can with our
specialists at BMW Motorrad Motorsport, to offer them highly
competitive material and innovative solutions. In the 2015 season the
network of BMW Motorrad Motorsport experts worked with more than 160
customer teams world-wide. We will continue in the direction we
successfully took with our long-term strategy and our commitment to
motorsport. Racing has always played an important role in the history
of BMW Motorrad and it will do so in the future.”

To appreciate the achievements of the BMW privateers, a special
bonus has been awarded within the BMW Motorrad Race Trophy to
championship winning riders and teams for the first time this year.
Every rider who won the title in his individual racing series received
prize money of 2,500 Euros, while his team was rewarded with 7,500
Euros. Six BMW racers and teams were handed this title bonus at the
BMW Motorrad Motorsport Season Finale in Munich. Eeki Kuparinen (FI)
and his Motomarket Racing team won the privateer class of the FIM CEV
Superbike European Championship (CEV AM). In the Alpe Adria Road
Racing Championship two titles went to BMW racers and teams: Roland
Resch (AT) and his reitwagen-racing-team won the title in the
Superbike class (AARR SBK), while Michal Prášek (CZ) and the Rohac and
Fejta motoracing team were crowned champions in the Superstock class
(AARR STK). Markus Reiterberger (DE) and Van Zon-Remeha-BMW celebrated
their second title-win in the Superbike class of the International
German Championship SUPERBIKE*IDM (IDM SBK) this year. Jordan Szoke
(CA) is the champion in the Canadian Superbike Championship (CSBK)
together with his Mopar Express Lane BMW Superbike Team and Matthieu
Lussiana (FR) and BMW Motorrad Petronas Racing successfully defended
their title in the Moto 1000 GP series in Brazil.

Details of the 2016 BMW Motorrad Race Trophy will be published
at a later stage.

2015 BMW Motorrad Race Trophy – Final

comprised a total of 19 international and national championships.

German Championship SUPERBIKE*IDM (IDM) at the Hungaroring near
Budapest (HU), the venue for the fifth round of the 2015 season. Van
Zon-Remeha-BMW rider Markus Reiterberger (DE) defied the fact that
he had to load a BoP-weight of six extra kilos to his BMW S 1000 RR
and continued his string of success. With a clever tactic, he won
the first of the two exciting races, celebrating his eighth win of
the season. In race two he was second, crossing the line only 0.1
seconds behind the winner. In the overall standings of the Superbike
class (IDM SBK), Reiterberger now leads with 240 points and an
advantage of 55 points over his nearest rival.

His Van Zon-Remeha-BMW team-mate Bastien Mackels (BE) celebrated
his first ever podium in the Superbike class of the IDM, finishing
the second race in third. In race one the young Belgian was also
fighting for the podium, but crashed in the second to last corner.

In the Superstock class (IDM STK), Michal Filla (CZ) was the
best-placed BMW privateer with fourth place (eighth overall) in race
two. Dominik Vincon (DE / BMW Stilgenbauer) made a good points haul,
finishing both heats in fifth in the class (eighth and ninth
overall). Pepijn Bijsterbosch (NL / Van Zon-Remeha-BMW) was eighth
and seventh (12th and 11th overall) and guest starter Vincent Lon
Bois (BE / Herpigny Motors SA) also achieved a top-ten result,
coming home tenth in the first race (15th overall).

FIM CEV Repsol Superbike European Championship at Alcañiz, Spain.

Hot temperatures and success for the BMW Motorrad privateers: this
also goes for the fourth round of the 2015 FIM CEV Repsol Superbike
European Championship (CEV) at MotorLand Aragón in Northern Spain.
Daniel Rivas (ES / boxmotos.com Easyrace SBK Team) claimed his best
result of the season so far by finishing second. He was joined on
the podium by Iván Silva (ES / Targobank Motorsport) in third. In
the overall rankings, Silva has improved to second. Adrián Bonastre
(ES) was fifth on the second BMW S 1000 RR from the boxmotos.com
Easyrace SBK Team. Eeki Kuparinen (FI) also finished within the
top-six, crossing the line in sixth. In doing so, the Motomarket
Racing rider secured victory in the privateer class of the CEV (CEV AM).

British Superbike Championship in Knockhill, Great Britain.

The fifth race weekend of the 2015 British Superbike Championship
(BSB) was held in Knockhill (GB). In the Superbike class (BSB SBK),
Michael Laverty (GB) put in an impressive performance, being in
contention for the win on his Tyco BMW S 1000 RR in both races. In
the first race he finished second on the podium. He was, however,
later demoted to fourth place after receiving a one second time
penalty – for allegedly overtaking in a yellow flag zone. In race
two Laverty started from pole position and lead for quite a while.
Then the race had to be red-flagged due to a rain shower. After the
re-start he was struggling with technical issues and finished sixth.
His Tyco BMW team-mate Tommy Bridewell (GB) was seventh in race one,
but retired after a fall in race two. Ryuichi Kiyonari (JP) did not
finish the first race but was fourth in race two on his Buildbase
BMW Motorrad BMW S 1000 RR. Peter Hickman (GB / RAF Reserves BMW)
crossed the line in the top-ten on both occasions, finishing tenth
and ninth. Lee Jackson (GB) was 11th twice on his Buildbase RR,
while Billy McConnell (GB / Smiths Racing BMW) was 12th and 21st.

In the Superstock class (BSB STK), the BMW Motorrad privateers
experienced an unfortunate day. Alastair Seeley (GB / Tyco BMW) had
claimed pole-position but crashed in the race. The best result went
to Rob McNealy (GB / McNealy Brown Ltd.), who was 14th.

BMW Motorrad Days at Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany.

Last weekend, the BMW Motorrad Days attracted tens of thousands of
visitors to Garmisch-Partenkirchen (DE). BMW Motorrad Motorsport was
part of the event, presenting its extensive worldwide activities.
The stand was built around the race truck of the BMW MOTORRAD France
Penz13.com Team of Rico Penzkofer (DE) from the FIM Endurance World
Championship (EWC). Several of the most successful privateer BMW
Motorrad riders were in Garmisch, like road racing star Guy Martin
(GB), WSBK rider Ayrton Badovini (IT), South African racer Lance
Isaacs, female road racer Maria Costello (GB) and “Queen of Speed”
Valerie Thompson (US), who has set numerous speed records with the
BMW S 1000 RR. They took their time to chat to the visitors, signed
autographs and were available for pictures with the fans. In
addition, some of the 2015 race bikes were shown, like the BMW S
1000 RR Martin raced at the Isle of Man TT (IOMTT), Badovini’s RR
from the FIM Superbike World Championship (WSBK) and the #13 BMW S
1000 RR from the EWC.

BMW Motorrad Motorsport was held last weekend in France: the legendary
24 Hours of Le Mans. At the “Circuit de la Sarthe”, the new BMW S 1000
RR had a successful debut at this endurance classic. In addition,
privateer BMW Motorrad riders have been in action in championships all
around the globe this weekend. They were on track in several European
countries, the US and Japan. With their results, the participants of
the 2015 BMW Motorrad Race Trophy also collected important points for
the Race Trophy rankings (see current standings at the bottom).

FIM Endurance World Championship: 24 Hours of Le Mans,
France.
This is without any doubt one of the toughest
challenges for man and machine: the “24 Heures Moto”, the legendary
24-hour race at Le Mans (FR). Last weekend, the “Circuit de la Sarthe”
hosted the 38th running of the endurance classic as the season opener
of the 2015 FIM Endurance World Championship (EWC). For the BMW
Motorrad Motorsport community, it brought several successful firsts.
It was the Le Mans debut for the new BMW S 1000 RR, which was entered
by BMW Motorrad France Team Penz13.com with the support of the BMW
Motorrad Motorsport engineers. For team principal Rico Penzkofer’s
(DE) squad it was a debut, too. After successfully competing in the
Superstock category of the EWC over the past years, Penz13.com now
represents the colours of BMW Motorrad Motorsport and BMW Motorrad
France in the highest Superbike class, with Le Mans being its first
race in the new category. The team is collaborating in its EWC
campaign with the squad of Van-Zon Remeha BMW around Werner Daemen
(BE), which is well known from the Superbike*IDM / International
German Championship (IDM).

The team and its riders, Markus Reiterberger (DE), Pedro
Vallcaneras (ES) and Gareth Jones (AU), who stood in for the injured
Bastien Mackels (BE), bravely mastered all challenges presented by the
24 hours. In qualifying, they secured P5 on the grid for the new #13
RR. Despite some setbacks at the beginning, which can even happen to
established teams at any time, the trio fought its way back towards
the front. Even in the final stages of the race they kept an
impressively fast pace. After the long 24 hours, Reiterberger powered
the RR over the finish line in a strong seventh overall and fifth in
the class.

In 2015, Penz13.com is also still involved in the Superstock
class, joining forces with Völpker NRT48 in the Völpker NRT48 &
Penz13 by Schubert Motors team. Riders Marco Nekvasil (AT), Steve
Mercer (GB) and Hayato Takada (JP) brought the #48 BMW S 1000 RR
safely through the 24 hours as well. Eighteen-year old Nekvasil, who
was the youngest rider in the entire field, had the honour to do the
final stint. He took the chequered flag in 17th overall and seventh in
the Superstock class. Another first at Le Mans was the participation
of the British BMW team, Prime Factors Racing. The 2014 British
endurance champions are competing in their debut season in the
Superstock class of the EWC. Riders Stefan Cappella (GB), Gary Mason
(GB) and Barry Burrell (GB) finished 20th overall and ninth in class.

FIM World Superbike Championship in Assen, the
Netherlands.
Only one week after the Spanish round at
“Motorland Aragón”, the engineers from BMW Motorrad Motorsport have
been on duty again at the famous “TT Circuit” in Assen (NL) for the
fourth round of the 2015 FIM World Superbike Championship (WSBK).
After the promising performance in Spain, the BMW Motorrad Italia SBK
Team and Ayrton Badovini (IT) had high hopes to further improve. In
fact, they had reason to be satisfied with the first sessions on
Friday and Saturday. From Superpole on they were, however, unable to
show the real potential of the BMW S 1000 RR. Badovini started to
suffer from severe pain in his left arm, caused by an inflammation.
This pain limited his ability to ride on this physically very
demanding track. The Italian qualified 14th for the two races. On
Sunday, Badovini tried everything to defy the pain. In race one, he
improved up to eighth place, but the pain became worse, forcing him to
return to the pits and retire. In race two, he attacked again and
finished in 12th despite his painful arm. In doing so, he collected a
further four championship points. Gabor Rizmayer (HU) from BMW Racing
Team Toth finished both races in 18th. His team-mate Imre Toth (HU)
retired in both races.

FIM Superstock 1000 Cup in Assen, the Netherlands.

Assen also hosted the second round of the 2015 FIM
Superstock 1000 Cup (STK1000). The season opener at “Motorland Aragón”
had seen a triumphant win by Roberto Tamburini (IT) on his BMW S 1000
RR. At Assen, the Team MotoxRacing rider, however, suffered some bad
luck in a turbulent race. He started third from the front row of the
grid, but was involved in a crash which caused a red flag. Despite
every effort, Tamburini did not make it to the grid for the re-start
and was forced to watch the shortened nine-lap-race as a spectator.
Fabio Marchionni (IT) crossed the finish line in 18th on the RR
fielded by TR. Corse. Federico D’Annunzio (IT / FDA Racing Team)
unfortunately also suffered a bad crash during the race. Eric Vionnet
(CH / Team Motos Vionnet) fell during Saturday’s qualifying and did
not take part in Sunday’s warm-up and race.
FIM Sidecar World Championship in Le Mans, France.

Back-to-back races also in the FIM Sidecar World
Championship (SWC): One week after the 2015 season opener in Donington
(GB), the world’s best sidecar crews met at Le Mans in France last
weekend. And the Finnish BMW duo of Pekka Päivärinta / Kirsi
Kainulainen (44-Racing) left France as the new overall leaders of the
world championship rankings. In the Le Mans race, they finished second
on the podium for the second time in a row. Uwe Gürck (DE) and Manfred
Wechselberger (AT) of Polizei Sport Verein Wels claimed fourth in the
fiercely fought race, while Mike Roscher (DE) and Anna Burkard (CH)
finished sixth on their Roscher-Burkhard-Penz13 machine.
British Superbike Championship in Brands Hatch, Great
Britain.
The “Indy Circuit” of Brands Hatch (GB) hosted
the second round of the 2015 British Superbike Championship. The fans
of this well-known championship were once more entertained with two
exciting races. Riuychi Kiyonari (JP) finished fourth on his Buildbase
BMW S 1000 RR on both occasions. With these results, he improved to
fourth overall in the championship standings. In race one, Billy
McConnell (AU / Smiths Racing BMW) and Michael Laverty (GB / Tyco BMW)
finished ninth and 13th respectively to also collect championship
points. In race two, Laverty’s team-mate Tommy Bridewell (GB) crossed
the line in sixth, while McDonnell was ninth again. Peter Hickman (GB
/ RAF Reserves BMW) also finished in the points, coming home in 14th.

In the Superstock class of the BSB, Hudson Kennaugh (ZA /
TrikMoto BMW) finished third on the podium. Tyco BMW rider Alastair
Seeley (GB) crossed the line in fifth and set the fastest lap of the
race. Luke Quigley (GB / Formwise Washrooms / Bathams) was seventh,
while Dominic Usher (GB) collected the final point, finishing 15th on
his DU Racing BMW, directly in front of Rob McNealy (GB / McNealy
Brown Ltd.).
MotoAmerica AMA/FIM North American Superbike Championship
in Braselton, US.
One week after the season
opener in Austin (US), the new MotoAmerica AMA/FIM North American
Superbike Championship (AMA) held its second round at the iconic “Road
Atlanta” circuit in Braselton, Georgia (US). The weather proved to be
a real challenge for everyone on this occasion, with races delayed due
to heavy rain and flooding. Privateer BMW Motorrad rider Marcel Irnie
(CA) defied the bad conditions and finished the two heats of the
Superstock 1000 class in tenth and ninth respectively.

MFJ Superbike All Japan Road Race Championship in Suzuka,
Japan.
Last weekend, the Superbike season also started
in Japan. The first round of the 2015 MFJ Superbike All Japan Road
Race Championship (MFJ) was held at Suzuka. BMW Motorrad Motorsport is
well represented in this championship with no less than six BMW S 1000
RRs competing in the fiercely fought JSB 1000 class. The best placed
BWM rider in the first race of the season was Daisaku Sakai (JP /
CONFIA Flex Motorrad 39) in 15th, directly followed by Kohji Teramoto
(JP / Team Tras 135HP) in 16th.
2015 BMW Motorrad Race Trophy – Current
Standings.
In 2015, the BMW Motorrad Race Trophy
comprises a total of 19 international and national championships.
Registration is possible until 30th June 2015. Participants in the BMW
Motorrad Race Trophy can once again compete in multiple championships
in 2015. However, the points scored in the different championships are

Pur essendo
