For this new edition of the storied model series, the most powerful version of the six-cylinder in-line engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology produces output of 390 kW/530 hp. In the new BMW M3 Competition Sedan with M xDrive (fuel consumption, combined: 10.2 – 10.1 l/100 km; CO₂ emissions, combined: 230 – 227 g/km in the WLTP cycle), and new BMW M3 Competition Touring with M xDrive (fuel consumption, combined: 10.4 – 10.3 l/100 km; CO₂ emissions, combined: 235 – 233 g/km in the WLTP cycle), the increased engine power is channelled via an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic to all four wheels.

All model variants of the new BMW M3 Sedan and new BMW M3 Touring will be built at BMW Group Plant Munich. They will be launched worldwide with a production phase-in in July 2024. The most important sales regions for the BMW M3 Sedan are the USA, China, Great Britain, Australia and Germany. The BMW M3 Touring is extremely popular above all in Germany, but also in Great Britain, other European countries and Australia.


Traditional race-car feeling, distinctive characters.

Now in its sixth model generation, the BMW M3 is more powerful, more poised and assured, more advanced and more versatile than ever. The sedan is continuing a high-performance sports car bloodline that stretches back almost 40 years. The first generation of the BMW M3, unveiled in 1986, went on to become the most successful model in touring car racing worldwide. Then, as now, a car’s success in motor sport was accompanied by steadily increasing popularity for the production model and rare levels of excitement for its owner out on the road.

The race-car feeling associated with the BMW M3 – present at the driver’s fingertips over every mile of a journey – can be experienced in totally different ways with this latest generation. The BMW M3 Sedan now lines up alongside a Touring model, the BMW M3 Touring fusing the performance attributes for which this model series is renowned with additional practicality and expanded load-carrying ability. Folding down the rear seat backrests increases load compartment capacity from 500 to a maximum 1,510 litres.

With its new vehicle concept for the premium midsize class, BMW M GmbH caused an instant sensation not only among fans of the brand but also in the ranks of professional experts. In its first full year of production, the BMW M3 Touring won the “Golden Steering Wheel” award presented by motoring magazine “Auto Bild” and the “Bild am Sonntag” newspaper in Germany. In Great Britain, it was crowned “Dream Car” of the year by “Autocar” magazine, while “Top Gear” magazine gave it the title “All The Car You’ll Ever Need” in its “Car of the Year Awards”.

With their distinct body concepts and specific qualities, the Sedan and Touring models occupy very different character spaces within the M3 range. One of their most important shared elements is their visually striking design with hallmark M features crafted precisely to meet the technical demands of cooling air supply and aerodynamic balance. The large, vertical BMW kidney grille with signature M double bars arranged horizontally, the powerfully sculpted wheel arches, the extended side skirts in contrasting Black high-gloss and the attachment parts for the front and rear aprons all provide clear pointers to the dynamic potential of the two models. The BMW M3 Sedan has a carbon-fibre roof as standard. The roof of the BMW M3 Touring, like its standard-fit roof rails, comes in black. It has a Gurney flap on the roof spoiler as an additional air-directing element.


Engine technology borrows from motor racing.

The new BMW M3 Sedan and new BMW M3 Touring feature a high-revving straight-six engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology. In all its output variants, the 3.0-litre unit stands out with its healthy appetite for revs into the highest reaches of the engine speed range and so produces the linear power delivery typical of high-performance models from BMW M GmbH.

Numerous elements adapted from race-car engine construction allow the power unit in the M3 to deliver an unmistakable performance experience on both road and track. The crankcase, with its sleeve-free, closed-deck construction, is extremely rigid and teams up with a forged crankshaft with lightweight design to unlock extremely high torque potential. The cylinder bores have a wire-arc sprayed iron coating. And the 3D-printed core for the cylinder head – another special M-specific feature – enables optimised routing of the coolant ducts that would be impossible to achieve using conventional metal casting methods.

Like the cooling system, the oil circuit is also designed to handle the particular challenges of track driving. A map-controlled oil pump ensures reliable oil supply even under extreme longitudinal and lateral acceleration.

The M TwinPower Turbo technology here comprises two mono-scroll turbochargers, each of which supplies compressed air to three cylinders. An indirect intercooler supplied by a low-temperature circuit plus specially designed compressors further enhance the turbocharger’s power output. The package of technology also includes High Precision Injection – which works at maximum pressure of 350 bar to ensure fine atomisation of fuel and therefore faster engine response – as well as VALVETRONIC variable valve timing and Double-VANOS fully variable camshaft timing.

The engine variant in the new BMW M3 Competition Sedan with M xDrive and new BMW M3 Competition Touring with M xDrive develops an extra 15 kW/20 hp thanks to optimised configuration of the digital engine control unit (DME). The six-cylinder in-line engine now generates maximum output of 390 kW/530 hp (up from the previous 375 kW/510 hp) at 6,250 rpm. The upgraded engine, which also serves as the basis for the unit powering the BMW M4 GT3, summons its peak torque of 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) between 2,750 and a now even higher 5,730 rpm. The result is even more ferocious, sustained power delivery that adds another layer of intensity to the performance experience – in particular when the driver is exploring the car’s dynamic limits – and enables impressive acceleration figures.

The new BMW M3 Competition Sedan with M xDrive accelerates
from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.5 seconds, and the new BMW M3 Competition Touring with M xDrive completes the same sprint in 3.6 seconds – only a touch longer, despite its higher kerb weight. The increased output of the two all-wheel-drive models is reflected in 0 to 200 km/h (124 mph) times that are 0.5 seconds quicker in each case. The sedan now records a time of 11.8 seconds, the Touring 12.4 seconds.

The new BMW M3 Sedan and new BMW M3 Touring have an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph) as standard. However, if the optional M Driver’s Package is specified, this figure rises to 290 km/h (180 mph) for the sedans and 280 km/h (174 mph) for the Touring model, allowing drivers to utilise the full potential of the powerful engines.


Model-specific composition of engine, transmission and chassis.

The standard eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic tuned to optimum effect to the performance characteristics of the engine at hand. Drivers favouring a sporty driving style will enjoy the benefits of the standard-fit gearshift paddles on the steering wheel, which allow the driver to make spontaneous interventions in the automatic transmission’s gear selection process as and when they decide. The driving experience can be tailored even more precisely to individual tastes by adapting the shift characteristics of the transmission according to requirements and the situation at hand using the Drivelogic button.

The new BMW M3 Sedan and new BMW M3 Touring are both equipped with M xDrive to elevate traction to an even higher level. The rear-biased setup of the intelligent all-wheel-drive system further enhances the agility of the new BMW M3 Competition Sedan with M xDrive and new BMW M3 Competition Touring with M xDrive. The system teams up with the Active M Differential at the rear axle – whose operation is also fully variable – to add to the signature M feeling when powering through corners. In addition to the default 4WD setting, the driver can also select 4WD Sport mode via the M Setup menu. Here, a higher proportion of drive power is sent to the rear wheels for even more agile handling. Switching off DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) also brings 2WD mode into play, which means power is sent exclusively to the rear wheels. This mode offers skilled drivers a pure-bred driving experience without interventions from the control systems.

The high torsional stiffness of the body structure and chassis mountings creates the ideal platform for impressive driving dynamics and instantaneous response to steering commands. As well as the bracing elements in the BMW M3 Sedan, the BMW M3 Touring has additional torsion struts in the rear. This extra strengthening measure gives the Touring body variant the tools it needs to display the combination of dynamism, agility and handling precision typically found in BMW M models.

The M-specific kinematics and elastokinematics of the double-joint spring strut front axle and five-link rear axle ensure the harmonious blend of extremely dynamic handling and finely judged comfort-focused qualities in everyday use and over longer journeys characteristic of all the models in the M3 range. The standard adaptive M suspension gives drivers the ability to adapt the responses of the electronically controlled dampers as they wish. Via the M Setup menu, drivers can select from three different settings to optimise the car’s handling in line with need and personal preference.

The package of chassis technology also includes M Servotronic steering and the integrated braking system, which works in conjunction with both the standard M Compound brakes and the optional M Carbon ceramic brakes. Both models have six-piston fixed-calliper brakes at the front axle and single-piston floating-calliper brakes at the rear. As well as larger and more heat-resistant brake discs – which, thanks to their considerable ability to withstand fade, ensure uncompromising deceleration even under extreme conditions – the M Carbon ceramic brakes also stand out with their intelligent lightweight construction; they are around 14 kilograms lighter than the standard M Compound brakes. The reduction in unsprung mass plays a particularly significant role in delivering increased agility, enhanced handling, faster response and lower fuel consumption.

The standard blue brake callipers of the M Compound system can also be specified in red or black as an option. The callipers of the M Carbon ceramic brakes have a Gold metallic painted finish. All of the variations feature a striking BMW M logo on the brake callipers at the front axle as an additional identifier of M-typical performance at work.

The DSC system, meanwhile, ensures a form of driving pleasure unmatched by any rival. Indeed, with M Dynamic Mode it offers an ultra-sporty configuration that raises the system’s intervention thresholds when it comes to controlling braking inputs and delays the point at which it steps in to restrict engine output. This maximises the car’s performance dynamics with DSC switched on. The system can also be fully deactivated (DSC off).

The new BMW M3 Sedan is equipped with the M Traction Control function. This slip control tech can be adjusted through ten stages according to the driver’s preferences or the road conditions at hand. It allows the control system inputs to be reduced in stages so that the driver can approach the physical limits in race action on the track, for example. The M Laptimer and M Drift Analyser help experienced drivers improve their lap times and hone their drifting skills. The integrated application of all drivetrain and chassis systems was fine-tuned at locations including the Nürburgring’s Nordschleife circuit, but it also ensures highly dynamic and at the same time precisely controllable handling in everyday driving.


Axle-specific wheel sizes, M forged light-alloy wheels with a new design.

All new BMW M3 models are fitted as standard with M forged light-alloy wheels in axle-specific rim sizes to the benefit of agility and handling. Standard specification for the new BMW M3 Competition Sedan with M xDrive and new BMW M3 Competition Touring with M xDrive includes Jetblack forged light-alloy wheels in double-spoke design (19-inch at the front axle and 20-inch at the rear axle).

New forged M light-alloy wheels in 19-inch and 20-inch formats have been added to the extensive optional equipment roster for all model variants. These are now finished in the colour Silver for the first time, their bright, shiny surfaces ensuring a sporty yet also elegantly sophisticated appearance.


Extensive selection of assistance systems; M Mode button to call up personalised selection of functions.

The new BMW M3 Sedan and new BMW M3 Touring set new standards in their segment with their extensive range of standard and optional automated driving and parking systems. In order to provide a dynamic experience that is both appropriate for the situation at hand and fits the high-performance sports car brief, the interventions of the driver assistance systems can be adjusted using the M Mode button on the centre console. For example, in the optional TRACK setting conceived for use on race circuits, all comfort and safety systems are temporarily deactivated.

Standard specification includes Parking Assistant, Cruise Control with brake function, front collision warning system with brake intervention, Lane Departure Warning including lane return with steering assistance, and Speed Limit Info with no-overtaking indicator. Among the items on the options list are the Driving Assistant and Parking Assistant including Reversing Assistant and the Driving Assistant Professional, which adds functions such as the Steering and Lane Control Assistant with automatic Speed Limit Assist, Lane Keeping Assistant, traffic light detection and Active Cruise Control with Stop&Go function.


Newly designed headlights and eye-catching details sharpen the cars’ visual character.

Newly designed LED headlights, which bring together low and high beam in a single module, bring fresh accents to the front end of the new BMW M3 Sedan and new BMW M3 Touring. Two elegantly sculpted, subtly arrow-shaped and vertically arranged LED units in each module serve as both side lights/daytime driving lights and turn signal indicators. The technically focused impression created by the light sources, whose inner workings are now structured in a particularly striking way, ensures a progressive appearance which is also adopted by the slim LED rear lights with L-shaped taillights.

Adaptive LED Headlights with non-dazzling matrix high beam are available as an option, and include the cornering light function and urban lights. Blue inlays inside the headlights indicate the presence of this extremely sophisticated light technology. M Shadowline lights with dark inner accents are also available for cars specified with the Adaptive LED Headlights. The model badge on the boot lid of the Competition models is now accented by an elegant silver-coloured surround.


New steering wheels and interior trim elements for the M-specific sports car cockpit.

Open the door to the new edition of the high-performance models and the stripped-back design of the interior will provide an instant hit of motor sport DNA. New steering wheels and controls, plus highly sophisticated materials for the instrument panel and interior trim elements heighten the aura of exclusivity inside the M-specific sports car cockpit.

Also playing its part in the dynamic driving experience is a newly designed three-spoke M leather steering wheel with multifunction buttons and red centre marker in the 12 o’clock position. It now has a flat-bottomed rim and precisely modified spokes. Two M buttons for selecting individually configured vehicle setups and the gearshift paddles comes as standard to enable rapid interventions in the eight-speed M Steptronic transmission’s gear selection process – exude an intense race-car feeling. An M Alcantara steering wheel in the same design and with the same functionality is available as an option for the first time. A heating function is available as an option for both steering wheel variants.

The M-specific cockpit design also includes a control panel on the centre console. Located here along with the gearshift lever / selector lever, the red Start/Stop button and the BMW iDrive Controller are controls including the Setup button and M Mode button. These can be used by the driver to configure their desired vehicle setup and activate cockpit display and driver assistance system functions tailored to the driving situation at hand.

High-quality, carefully crafted materials and M-specific design features in the interior create a modern premium ambience with sporting flair. The interior trim elements in the instrument panel, control panel and cup holder cover now come as standard in Aluminium Rhombicle Anthracite. Options include interior trim elements in the M Carbon Fibre that now additionally includes elements for the steering wheel and the gearshift paddles. The optional Sensatec instrument panel now has a further refined surface structure.

The standard M sport seats offer an array of electrically operated adjustment options to make it easier to find the perfect position behind the steering wheel. A memory function for the driver’s seat allows the driver to store their desired adjustment settings. Also shining the spotlight on the cabin’s commitment to progressive sporting appeal are the integral head restraints with illuminated model badging. Standard specification likewise includes seat heating for the driver and front passenger, while seat ventilation is available as an option. Available as alternatives to the standard Merino leather trim are Merino full-leather trim, BMW Individual Merino leather trim with extended features and BMW Individual Merino full-leather trim – each in a choice of four colours.

The optional, also fully electrically adjustable and heated M Carbon bucket seats provide an optimum, racing-car-like connection between driver and car. They fuse racing functionality with luxurious craftsmanship and excellent comfort over long distances. The use of carbon fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) in the seat surface and backrest elements, plus cut-outs in the side bolsters and below the head restraints enable a weight saving of 9.6 kilograms over the standard M sport seats.


BMW Curved Display and new BMW Operating System 8.5.

The new editions of the BMW M3 Sedan and BMW M3 Touring also welcome the latest generation of the display and control/operation system BMW iDrive based on BMW Operating System 8.5 into cockpits shaped by progressive sporting appeal. With the high-resolution BMW Curved Display angled towards the driver and upgraded BMW Personal Assistant, the interaction between driver and car is based squarely on operation using touch control and natural language. The fully digital screen grouping made up of a 12.3-inch information display and a 14.9-inch control display shows M-specific content. This includes additional information on the vehicle’s status and sharpens the driver’s focus on the road ahead. Also on the standard equipment list is the BMW Head-Up Display, which projects information relevant to driving – including a multi-coloured rpm dial, Shift Lights and M View – onto the windscreen, again in an M-specific style.

The M-specific graphics and content on the information display and control display are now joined by a new way of operating the standard-fitted automatic climate control system. The temperature and ventilation settings as well as the seat heating and – if specified – steering wheel heating can now be controlled either by touch using a special menu option in the lower area of the control display or by voice command. This latest advance in the field of digital operation brings a further reduction in the number of buttons and controls in the cockpit and a new design for the instrument panel. New adjustment controls for the air vent grilles in the centre of the instrument panel and on the driver’s and front passenger side of the cockpit allow the airflow direction to be adjusted using rotating and tilting movements.

In addition to the footwells, the storage compartment in the front section of the centre console and the door openers, the standard ambient lighting now also encompasses contour lighting integrated into the trim around the central seam vents. Nine colours in multiples grades of brightness allow customers to adjust the effect to their personal preferences. The functionality of the interior lighting also includes an atmospheric Welcome and Goodbye Animation and light signals indicating an open door or incoming phone call.

As well as the cloud-based navigation system BMW Maps, the standard-fitted BMW Live Cockpit Plus includes two USB ports for data transfer, a Wi-Fi interface and smartphone integration enabling the use of e.g. Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™. Standard equipment for the new BMW M3 Sedan and new BMW M3 Touring also features a HiFi speaker system harman / kardon® with 16 speakers and a 464-watt amplifier, the standard telephony with wireless charging that enables wireless charging of compatible smartphones and the Personal e-SIM.


Distinctive looks and higher-intensity performance with M Carbon exterior package, M Race Track package and BMW M Performance Parts.

An M Carbon exterior package specific to each of the new high-performance cars brings bespoke precision to their outward appeal. With inlays for the wide front air intakes and a rear diffuser with unique geometry for each model, plus exterior mirror caps and a rear spoiler made from CFRP for the BMW M3 Sedan, the M Carbon exterior package also brings fresh visual sharpness to the race-car character of the two models. The M Race Track package, which brings M Carbon ceramic brakes, M Carbon bucket seats for the driver and front passenger and Carbon Fibre interior trim elements, reduces vehicle weight by as much as 25 kilograms.

BMW M Performance Parts offer customers additional scope for tailoring the high-intensity driving experience and dynamic aura of the new high-performance sports cars to their personal tastes. The selection of model-specific retrofit options ranges from exterior components made from CFRP and M Performance forged wheels with centre lock to M Performance floor mats and M Performance steering wheel trim for customising the interior.

Une conception légère et intelligente comprenant un grand nombre de composants en plastique renforcé de fibres de carbone (CFRP), une puissance moteur accrue, un châssis sur mesure, des caractéristiques de conception exclusives et un cahier des charges affiné avec précision, l’ensemble proposant la fonctionnalité et la facilité d'utilisation au quotidien de la BMW M3 Berline. Cette alchimie offre également une expérience exaltante sur circuit. Plus de puissance, moins de poids, des performances haletantes.

Un rapport poids/puissance accru confère à la nouvelle BMW M3 CS des qualités de performances et d'une aura exclusive. Elle tire sa puissance d'une version spécialement améliorée du moteur six cylindres en ligne à haut régime, avec technologie M TwinPower Turbo, développée pour les modèles BMW M3 Competition et BMW M4 Competition. Ce moteur de 3,0 litres constitue également la base du moteur qui a propulsé la BMW M4 GT3 au titre de voiture de tourisme DTM dès sa première saison en 2022.

Le moteur qui se trouve sous le capot de la nouvelle BMW M3 CS est donc également doté d'une multitude de technologies directement dérivées de l'unité de course. Son carter est construit sans manchon, à plateau fermé et est extrêmement rigide, permettant des pressions de combustion très élevées. Les alésages des cylindres, plus légers et dotés d'un revêtement en fer pulvérisé à l'arc électrique, réduisent les pertes par frottement. Le vilebrequin léger et forgé favorise la montée en puissance grâce à sa résistance à la torsion exceptionnellement élevée, révélant le caractère du moteur à haut régime. Sa culasse est imprimée en 3D, permettant une disposition des conduits de refroidissement optimale pour la gestion de la température. Cette architecture serait impossible à réaliser en utilisant les méthodes conventionnelles de moulage du métal. Le système d'alimentation en huile est conçu pour relever les défis spécifiques d'une utilisation sur circuit, tout comme le système de refroidissement.

Une puissance augmentée à 550ch

Ces modifications soigneusement adaptées révèlent le caractère du moteur de la nouvelle BMW M3 CS, ayant des régimes plus élevés et une puissance maximale accrue. Le potentiel d'amélioration considérable du moteur a permis d'obtenir une augmentation de 40ch de la puissance nominale par rapport à la BMW M3 Compétition M xDrive Berline, soit 550ch. Cette augmentation de la puissance a été obtenue grâce à des révisions ciblées de la technologie M TwinPower Turbo du moteur et n'a nécessité aucune concession en termes de constance ou de fiabilité. Les ajustements ont principalement consisté à augmenter la pression de charge maximale des deux turbocompresseurs mono-scroll de 1,7 à 2,1 bars, ainsi que des ajustements spécifiques au modèle dans la gestion du moteur.

En outre, un support moteur spécialement conçu avec des ressorts plus puissants crée une connexion extrêmement rigide entre le groupe moteur et la structure du véhicule. Une pression sur l'accélérateur est donc accueillie par une réponse encore plus vive du moteur et une transmission directe de sa puissance au sol. Le moteur de la nouvelle BMW M3 CS développe un couple maximal de 650 Nm dès 2 750 tr/min, et le maintient jusqu'à 5 950 tr/min. Elle génère sa puissance maximale à 6 250 tr/min et atteint son rupteur à 7 200 tr/min.

Les caractéristiques de performance sont dominées par sa puissance ininterrompue jusqu'aux hauts régimes. Cette puissance s'accompagne d'une bande sonore très présente, produite par le système d'échappement à deux branches possédant des clapets à commande électrique. Pour parfaire la sonorité, un silencieux arrière en titane, dont le design réduit le poids, et deux paires de tuyaux d'échappement peints en noir mat, sont mis en place sur la chaîne cinématique. En sélectionnant les modes SPORT ou SPORT+ pour le réglage du moteur dans le menu de configuration M, le son du moteur est augmenté, pour produire une note avec d'incontournables nuances de voiture de course. Cela permet d'injecter une réelle intensité sonore dans les montées en régime, notamment lors des changements de vitesse qui les accompagnent.

Une puissance exceptionnelle au service de la route : la boîte de vitesses à huit rapports, la technologie M xDrive et le différentiel actif M.

Le couple moteur de la nouvelle BMW M3 CS est transmis par une boîte de vitesses M à huit rapports avec Drivelogic. Elle est commandée soit par le levier sélecteur spécifique M de la console centrale, soit par les palettes en fibre de carbone du volant. Le conducteur peut utiliser le bouton Drivelogic intégré au levier sélecteur pour modifier les caractéristiques de la boite de vitesses, avec un choix entre des réglages axés sur le confort, la sportivité et l'optimisation pour la piste.

La traction et l'agilité de la nouvelle BMW M3 CS sont toutes deux améliorées par la présence de la transmission intégrale M xDrive, qui utilise un embrayage multidisque à commande électronique dans la boîte de transfert, pour assurer une répartition entièrement variable et très douce de la puissance du moteur entre les roues avant et arrière. L'alimentation en huile de l'embrayage multidisque a été optimisée pour que le système de transmission intégrale fonctionne efficacement, même en cas de conduite intensive sur circuit. L'orientation du système vers les roues arrière et la façon dont il s'associe au Différentiel M Actif au niveau de l'essieu arrière - dont le fonctionnement est également entièrement variable - contribuent à la sensation caractéristique lors de l'accélération ou de la prise de virage.

Les réglages M permettent au conducteur de passer du mode 4 roues motrices par défaut au mode 4 roues motrices sport, qui redirige une proportion du couple du moteur vers les roues arrière. Le conducteur peut également désactiver complètement le système DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) et passer en propulsion. En envoyant la puissance motrice uniquement aux roues arrière et en supprimant toute intervention des systèmes de contrôle pour stabiliser le véhicule, ce réglage permet aux conducteurs expérimentés de s'impliquer dans l'expérience de conduite à un degré de pilotage plus intense.

Le moteur, la transmission et le système M xDrive s'associent pour produire des temps d'accélération époustouflants. La nouvelle BMW M3 CS ne prend que 3,4 secondes pour passer de 0 à 100 km/h et 11,1 secondes pour atteindre 200 km/h depuis l'arrêt. La montée à mi-régime de 80 à 120 km/h se fait en 2,6 secondes (en 4e rapport) ou 3,3 secondes (en 5e rapport). La BMW M3 CS est livrée de série avec le Pack Expérience M et sa vitesse maximale est limitée électroniquement à 302 km/h.

Réglages sur mesure de la technologie du châssis et du système DSC ; pneus de piste de série.

Le châssis de la nouvelle BMW M3 CS a été adaptée avec précision aux caractéristiques du moteur, au concept global du véhicule et à son poids. Les réglages spécifiques au modèle pour le système DSC et le mode M Dynamic sont également adaptés aux exigences spécifiques des circuits à grande vitesse.

La cinématique de l'essieu, les réglages personnalisés du carrossage des roues, les amortisseurs, les ressorts auxiliaires et les barres antiroulis servent à optimiser la précision de la direction, la transmission des forces de contrôle latérales dans les virages, la réponse des ressorts et des amortisseurs et la position des roues. Les amortisseurs à commande électronique SelectDrive M sont également disponibles dans une configuration spécifique au modèle, tout comme la direction électromécanique Servotronic M à assistance variable.

Les spécifications de série de cette édition spéciale comprennent des freins M hautes performances avec étriers de frein peints en rouge ou en noir au choix. Il est également possible d'opter pour les freins M Carbon céramiques dont les étriers de frein sont disponibles en or mat ou en rouge. La liste des équipements de série de la nouvelle BMW M3 CS comprend également des jantes forgées en alliage léger M, avec un design exclusif à rayons en V et une finition Bronze doré. Ces jantes particulières en alliage léger M peuvent également être commandées en option dans une finition noir mat. D'un diamètre de 19 pouces pour l'essieu avant et de 20 pouces pour l'essieu arrière, les roues sont équipées de série de pneus de piste développés spécialement pour ce modèle et mesurent 275/35 ZR19 à l'avant et 285/30 ZR20 à l'arrière. En alternative à ces pneus, qui sont spécialement conçus pour la conduite sur circuit, les clients peuvent également opter sans frais pour des pneus hautes performances de mêmes dimensions.

Construction légère avec utilisation intensive de la fibre de carbone ; amélioration de la rigidité de la carrosserie.

Les mesures de conception prises au service de la légèreté, spécifiques à la nouvelle BMW M3 CS, jouent un rôle majeur dans sa performance et dans son caractère exclusif. L'utilisation de composants en plastique renforcé de fibres de carbone (CFRP), tant à l'intérieur qu'à l'extérieur, revêt une importance capitale. Outre son toit en fibre de carbone, le modèle d'édition spéciale utilise également ce matériau léger et de haute technologie pour son capot, son splitter avant, sa lunette arrière et sa console centrale. De plus, sa console centrale, les palettes de changement de vitesse et ses bandes de garniture intérieure sont également toutes fabriquées à partir de fibres de carbones. Les sièges baquets M Carbon, de série, contribuent également à réduire le poids de l'habitacle. Le silencieux arrière en titane, quant à lui, réduit de plus de 4 kilogrammes le poids du système d'échappement de la nouvelle BMW M3 CS. Les différentes mesures d'allègement permettent un gain de poids total d'environ 20 kilogrammes par rapport à la BMW M3 Compétition M xDrive Berline.

La rigidité peut être encore accrue en ajoutant un ensemble de renforts de haute précision pour le compartiment moteur et qui ont également été conçus pour davantage de légèreté. Les éléments en aluminium moulé, qui relient les tours de jambe de force à l'avant, présentent une géométrie optimisée en termes de poids et ont été intégrés avec précision - à l'aide de modèles numériques - à la structure de la voiture dans diverses conditions de conduite.

Des caractéristiques de conception exclusives promettant des performances palpitantes.

La nouvelle BMW M3 CS annonce instantanément son caractère plus tranchant grâce à des caractéristiques de design propres. La peinture métallisée Frozen Solid White disponible pour l'extérieur est une exclusivité de l’édition spéciale de BMW M GmbH. Les surfaces en fibres de carbone apparentes, à savoir le toit, les deux encoches du capot, et le splitter avant sont autant d'éléments qui confèrent à la voiture un caractère plus affirmé. Par ailleurs, le capot, le splitter avant, les prises d'air avant, les coques de rétroviseurs extérieurs M, le spoiler arrière et la jupe arrière s'associent aux jupes latérales noires et aux ouïes M pour créer un contraste saisissant avec la nouvelle peinture. Les teintes de carrosserie Signal Green, Brooklyn Grey métallisé et Saphirschwarz métallisé sont disponibles comme autres teintes extérieures.

L'avant du véhicule est doté d'une calandre BMW sans cadre, qui permet de gagner du poids, et donne une impression de légèreté rappelant les voitures de la compétition automobile. Conçue spécialement pour ce modèle, elle se distingue par des lignes de contour rouges et le badge "M3 CS" sur la partie supérieure des deux barres horizontales de la calandre. Le badge du modèle à l'avant et son homologue sur le couvercle du coffre ont des surfaces noires avec un bord rouge.

Les projecteurs Laser BMW inclus dans l'équipement de série donne un caractère particulièrement frappant à l'avant de la nouvelle BMW M3 CS. Grâce à une illumination en jaune au lieu de blanc - aussi bien pendant la séquence de bienvenue lors du déverrouillage du véhicule que lors de l'allumage des feux de croisement ou des feux de route - ils font référence aux voitures de course GT.

Sièges baquets M Carbon avec surfaces et motifs de couture exclusifs.

À l'intérieur de la nouvelle BMW M3 CS, un cockpit de voiture de sport est associé à une technologie numérique avancée et à des éléments de design exclusifs. Le conducteur et le passager avant sont accueillis par des sièges baquets M Carbon, de série, au design spécifique. Entièrement électriques et chauffants, ils sont dotés d'appui-tête intégrés et d'un badge de modèle éclairé, ce qui donne un mélange unique de style de course et de confort longue distance. Le système de commande comprend le bouton Setup sur la console centrale, qui permet d'accéder directement aux options de réglage du moteur, du châssis, de la direction, du système de freinage et de la transmission M xDrive. Deux variantes de réglage peuvent être configurées individuellement, ainsi que les réglages préférés pour le système DSC, la fonction Start/Stop automatique et les caractéristiques de changement de vitesse de la M à huit rapports. Ces deux réglages peuvent se retrouver à l'aide des touches M du volant.

La nouvelle BMW M3 CS est également équipée de série du système M Drive Pro. Ainsi, l'édition spéciale ne bénéficie pas seulement des fonctions M Drift Analyser et M Laptimer pour l'évaluation et l'enregistrement de la conduite et des performances sur circuit, mais elle est également équipée du système M Traction Control, dont les dix niveaux constituent les outils idéaux pour pousser la voiture dans ses retranchements sur les circuits.

Le bouton M Mode situé sur la console centrale - qui fait également partie du pack M Drive Pro - peut être utilisé pour régler à la fois le niveau d'activité du système d'aide à la conduite et le contenu affiché sur l'écran et sur l'affichage tête haute disponible en option. Écran incurvé BMW Curved Display avec affichages spécifiques à M.

La nouvelle BMW M3 CS bénéficie de la dernière génération de l'expérience véhicule BMW iDrive basée sur le système d'exploitation BMW OS 8.0, qui comprend l'écran incurvé BMW Curved Display. Celui-ci est constitué d'un écran d'information de 12,3 pouces et d'un écran de commande de 14,9 pouces de diagonale, qui sont logés ensemble derrière une surface en verre incurvée. Avec son positionnement ergonomique orienté vers le conducteur, le BMW Curved Display rend la commande tactile, déjà intuitive, encore plus conviviale.

Munich. BMW M GmbH will be focusing its activities at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed (23rd to 26th June) on its 50th birthday celebrations. BMW M is showcasing numerous models from the past, present and future to mark the occasion. This includes global debuts like the one of the first-ever BMW M3 Touring MotoGP™ Safety Car. Festival visitors will be among the first people able to take a close look at the newest safety car from BMW M, the ‘Official Car of MotoGP™’ since 1999. The BMW M3 Touring MotoGP™ Safety Car will also make its first race appearance in Great Britain, in early August at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

The newest member of the safety car fleet is based on the first-ever BMW M3 Competition Touring with M xDrive (fuel consumption, combined: 10.4 – 10.1 l/100km correspond to WLTP, CO₂ emissions, combined: 235 – 229 g/km correspond to WLTP)*, which is also set to celebrate its global debut in Goodwood. It combines the high level of technological capability, performance and know-how of the BMW M3 and BMW M4 family with the practical nature of a five-door touring model. Both cars, the series production vehicle and the safety car, will be unveiled on Thursday 23rd June at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and will then take place in the renowned hillclimb race on all festival days.

The visual appearance of the new BMW M3 Touring MotoGP™ Safety Car is a tribute to 50 years of BMW M and to the decades of partnership with MotoGP™. The safety car will sport a special 50 Years of BMW M Livery, and all MotoGP™ safety cars from 1999 to the present day are listed on the car.

The BMW M3 Touring MotoGP™ Safety Car will be equipped with the entire product range from BMW M Performance Parts for its appearance on the racetrack. Quelques mois à peine après la présentation et le lancement des nouvelles BMW M3 Competition Berline et BMW M4 Competition Coupé, BMW M GmbH ajoute deux autres variantes à sa gamme en proposant pour la première fois le système de transmission intégrale M xDrive sur ce segment. En distribuant avec précision la puissance du moteur aux quatre roues, les BMW M3 Competition M xDrive Berline (consommation de carburant combinée : 10,1 - 10,0 l/100 km en cycle WLTP ; émissions de CO2 en cycle combiné : 231 - 228 g/km en cycle WLTP) et BMW M4 Competition M xDrive Coupé (consommation de carburant en cycle combiné : 10,1 - 10,0 l/100 km en cycle WLTP ; émissions de CO2 en cycle combiné : 230 - 227 g/km en cycle WLTP) font preuve d'un dynamisme exceptionnel.

M xDrive et différentiel actif M pour faire encore grimper d’un cran le comportement dynamique.
Le pilotage du différentiel spécialement adapté pour le système M xDrive offre déjà une alternative réjouissante à la traditionnelle propulsion pour une multitude de modèles hautes performances conçus par BMW M GmbH. Le système de transmission intégrale est complété par le différentiel actif M, qui assure également une répartition entièrement variable du couple moteur entre les roues arrière en fonction de la situation. Cela permet de transférer le couple moteur à la route sans perte de puissance, en particulier lorsque la voiture est fortement sollicitée ou que l'adhérence est moindre d'un côté. La technologie M xDrive et le différentiel actif M - avec son antipatinage intégré spécifique - s'associent au système de contrôle dynamique de la stabilité (DSC) pour garantir une interaction parfaitement adaptée à la situation de conduite. L'objectif est clairement de produire une expérience de conduite extrêmement dynamique alliant les sensations M traditionnelles à une motricité et une stabilité directionnelle nettement améliorées.

La technologie M xDrive utilise un embrayage multidisque à commande électronique via la boîte de transfert pour une répartition du couple moteur entièrement variable et réglable en douceur entre les roues avant et arrière. L'alimentation en huile de l'embrayage multidisque a été optimisée pour que la répartition variable de la puissance reste très efficace, même en cas de conduite sportive sur circuit. La transmission de la puissance aux différentiels avant et arrière est assurée par des arbres de transmission spécialement conçus pour la BMW M3 Competition M xDrive Berline et la BMW M4 Competition M xDrive Coupé. Les arbres de transmission qui fournissent le couple moteur aux roues sont également conçus sur mesure. Le système de transmission intégrale a une configuration "typée propulsion", dans le plus pur style BMW M. Dans des conditions normales, la puissance motrice est entièrement canalisée vers l'arrière, les roues avant n'entrant en jeu que lorsque les roues arrière ne peuvent plus fournir leur couple à la route.

La boîte de transfert est dotée d'une unité de commande sur mesure et un système intégré de limitation du patinage des roues. Cela lui permet de compenser extrêmement rapidement toute différence de vitesse de rotation entre les roues avant et arrière sans avoir à faire intervenir la gestion centrale du DSC. Il en résulte des performances accrues grâce à la transmission intégrale dont l'effet principal est d'intensifier encore le sentiment d'équilibre inégalable pour lequel les modèles M sont réputés dans des situations de conduite particulièrement dynamiques, comme la prise de virage en dérive contrôlée.

Les améliorations apportées à la motricité, à la stabilité directionnelle, à l'agilité et au dynamisme par la combinaison de la technologie M xDrive et du différentiel M actif se traduisent également par une capacité d'accélération notablement supérieure. La BMW M3 Competition M xDrive Berline et la BMW M4 Competition M xDrive Coupé n'ont besoin que de 3,5 secondes pour atteindre les 100 km/h (à partir de l'arrêt), soit 0,4 seconde de moins que leurs équivalents à propulsion.

La puissance de la BMW M3 Competition M xDrive Berline comme celle de la BMW M4 Competition M xDrive Coupé est transmise de manière efficace à la route par des jantes en alliage léger M de 19 pouces de diamètre à l'avant et de 20 pouces à l'arrière. Les jantes forgées à rayons doubles avec une finition Jet Black sont équipées de pneus de 275/35 R19 à l'avant et de 285/30 R20 à l'arrière. Des pneus de piste spécialement conçus aux mêmes dimensions sont également disponibles en option.

Des modifications techniques majeures optimisent les performances.
La transmission intégrale des nouvelles BMW M3 Competition Berline et BMW M4 Competition Coupé avec M xDrive est complétée par un essieu avant à jambes de force à double articulation, spécialement conçu pour ces modèles et doté d'une géométrie d'essieu avant ajustée et d'un rapport de direction adapté. Ces importantes modifications sur mesure pour le système de transmission intégrale garantissent que les versions "Propulsion" et les nouvelles variantes "M xDrive" se distinguent par leurs caractéristiques de direction sans compromis. Les modèles à transmission intégrale bénéficient en outre d'une version spécialement adaptée du système d'alimentation en huile moteur, conçue pour gérer des performances extrêmes.

Trois modes M xDrive permettent d'obtenir une expérience M personnalisée.
La technologie M xDrive permet également au conducteur d'adapter les caractéristiques et les performances du système de transmission intégrale à la situation de conduite et à ses préférences personnelles. Le réglage souhaité peut être sélectionné directement dans le menu de configuration du système d'exploitation, où l'on peut choisir entre trois modes de transmission de puissance différents. Dans le réglage par défaut 4WD, le système de transmission intégrale offre une motricité maximale et une grande stabilité, tout en maintenant à tout moment une répartition de la puissance nettement orientée vers l'arrière. L'activation du mode 4WD Sport dirige une proportion encore plus grande du couple moteur vers les roues arrière, même dans des situations de conduite extrêmement dynamiques, ce qui se traduit par une agilité accrue. La maîtrise linéaire des forces latérales, si caractéristique des modèles M, permet également d'effectuer des dérives contrôlées. Le conducteur peut enfin désactiver le système DSC et passer en mode 2WD, dans lequel la puissance motrice est transmise uniquement aux roues arrière. Si le M Traction Control (en option) est utilisé, la motricité peut être réglée avec précision sur dix niveaux, comme sur les modèles à propulsion. Cette forme de transmission de la puissance sans aucune intervention des systèmes de contrôle du châssis pour stabiliser le véhicule permet aux conducteurs expérimentés de profiter d'une expérience de conduite d'une pureté remarquable et d'affiner leurs compétences à l'aide du M Drift Analyser en option.

With numerous innovations in the areas of drive, brake and suspension systems, the new BMW M3 Competition Sedan and the new BMW M4 Competition Coupé will soon set new benchmarks in the segment of high-performance sedans and coupes. Their newly developed, straight six-cylinder engines are performance-enhanced vs. the previous generation and provide the basis for this. The M TwinPower Turbo Technology and the high-revving concept featured by the power units impress with performance characteristics derived directly from motor racing – without restricting the traditionally high level of everyday suitability of BMW M models. In order to emphasise the motor racing DNA of the new BMW M3 Competition Sedan and the new BMW M4 Competition Coupé even more, an extensive range of M Performance Parts will also be available at market launch of the two models in March of next year. The lightweight exhaust system with flap control, developed specifically for M models and based on experience gained from motor racing, weighs around five kilograms less than the mass-produced component and also provides for an even sportier driving experience thanks to optimised exhaust gas routing. The highly emotionalising sound, which is similar to that experienced in motorsport, has been adapted to the individual driving programs. The four titanium, ceramic-coated tailpipe trims provide for an unmistakeably striking appearance.

The M Performance sports suspension was developed and tuned on various different racetracks and is also directly associated with motor racing. The coilover suspension permits an infinitely variable reduction of ride height of between five and twenty millimetres (recommended lowering -10 mm vs. the M base model). With unchanged damper adjustment, the driver benefits from a lower centre of gravity, reduced rolling movement and even higher cornering speeds. In addition to increased dynamics, lowering also enhances the sporty looks.

Directly derived from the BMW Motorsport long-distance brake pads, M Performance sports brake pads guarantee shorter braking distances, better response characteristics and high thermal resistance. Drivers in particular who frequently also wish to explore the performance potential of their BMW M3 Competition Sedan or M4 Competition Coupé on the racetrack, will be thrilled, among other things, with the vehicle’s exceptionally dynamic steering behaviour when braking before a bend compared to the standard configuration.

High-tech material carbon sharpens looks even further.

The high-tech material carbon is characterised by a high degree of rigidity and stiffness whilst being extremely light.  Consequently, carbon fibre reinforced plastic is used above all in many areas of motorsport, where visible carbon components fascinate with the mesh structure that is so characteristic of this material. Not least for this reason, M Performance exterior components exude a high degree of motorsport atmosphere – and are perfectly suitable for effectively sharpening the sporty looks of the BMW M3 Competition Sedan and the BMW M4 Competition Coupé even further. For example, the M Performance carbon front attachment, the M Performance carbon front splitter and the carbon M Performance Aero Flicks provide for a particularly striking look. Viewed from the side, the M Performance carbon air breathers set an eye-catching accent and M Performance carbon side skirt trims make the vehicle appear longer. At the rear, the M Performance carbon rear winglets and the distinctive M Performance carbon rear spoiler add the perfect finishing touches to the vehicle’s appearance.

All this is topped by the M Performance carbon rear diffuser combined with the M Performance titanium silencer system and the M Performance titanium tailpipe trim module with ceramic coating and black matt finish. The M Performance carbon/titanium tailpipe trims also offer a sporty option for individualising the standard exhaust system of the BMW Competition M3 Sedan and the BMW M4 Competition Coupé. The high-performance models can be customised even further with the M Performance Motorsport foiling. The decor set contains adhesive foils for each side in the three BMW M colours blue, red and purple and is tailor-made to match the vehicle geometry.

Forged wheels in sizes of up to 21 inches and mixed tyres.

At the time of market launch, the range of M Performance Parts for the new BMW M3 Competition Sedan and the new BMW M4 Competition Coupé comprises two complete sets of summer wheels. Entry level is the M Performance Y-spoke forged wheel 963M in Frozen Gunmetal Grey with M Performance lettering and mixed tyres, 19 inches at the front and 20 inches at the rear. It convinces with its unique geometry and guarantees a high degree of stiffness and low weight as well as reduced air resistance particularly at high speeds. Highlight of the wheel range for the summer is the BMW M Performance cross-spoke forged wheel 1000M in Gold Bronze matt or Jet-Black matt with M Performance lettering. The wheels are available exclusively from M Performance Parts in the sizes 20 inch at the front and 21 inch at the rear.

Perfect traction in winter: snow chain-capable 19-inch wheel set.

M Performance Parts also offers the snow chain-capable, 19-inch double spoke complete winter wheel 829M for safe driving on snow and ice. The rim, which is finished in black matt, is ideal for coping with winter conditions and is particularly easy to clean. We recommend M Performance Tyre Bags for optimal storage and convenient transportation of wheel sets currently not fitted. They are suitable for 17-inch to 22-inch complete wheels, protect them from dirt and guarantee clear allocation of the tyres thanks to their respective markings. Moreover, with their distinctive M Performance design they emit a generous portion of motor racing flair in the home garage.

Carbon and Alcantara enhance motorsport flair in the interior.

Customers are also able to further upgrade the sporty and comfortable interior of their BMW M3 Competition Sedan or BMW M4 Competition Coupé in many ways, both visually and functionally, using motorsport-inspired components from the range of M Performance Parts. As soon as the door is opened, the M Performance doorsill with carbon insert and M Performance coloured lettering conveys unadulterated motor racing flair. Furthermore, thanks to M Performance lettering, a flag with M colours and edging in leather look including decorative stitching in contrasting colours, the perfectly matching M Performance front and rear floor mats convey the extremely dynamic exterior design into the vehicle’s interior. M Performance carbon interior trims also contribute towards this. They inspire with a fascinating combination of open-pored, matt-coated carbon and elegant Alcantara. They are manufactured by hand using a complex process, so each of them is a unique one-off. M Performance Alcantara kneepads on the centre console round off the range of interior features.

The M Performance Pro steering wheel is characterised by the use of the material Alcantara, which is very common in motor racing not least due to its grip properties. Therefore, the pronounced Alcantara gripping area with large thumb rests and special lining offers the driver maximum grip and a highly direct steering feel. Further motorsport-inspired features include the blue centre marker in the 12 o’clock position and a handstitched M seam finished in M colours. In addition to the standard leather-covered steering wheel trim, the optional M Performance steering wheel trim Carbon/Alcantara and, optionally, the M Performance steering wheel Carbon/Leather each with M Performance lettering are available. The M Performance steering wheel can be further upgraded with M Performance carbon shift paddles covered with an open-pored carbon fabric instead of the standard chrome surface.

The M Performance slide set for the BMW LED door projectors guarantees eye-catching effects when entering and exiting the vehicle. When the door is opened, the BMW M logo and other M Performance motifs are projected onto the asphalt. When locking and unlocking the vehicle, the driver is able to experience the M Performance concept both visually and by touch with the M Performance key wallet finished in high-quality Alcantara and boasting a carbon insert. The wallet is firmly connected with the car key by means of a hexagonal head screw in M Light Blue, allowing the key to be easily rotated into the wallet, protecting it from scratches and any other damage.

The M Performance Indoor Car Cover reliably protects the vehicle against soiling and scratches while it is parked in the garage. The cover, which is delivered in a practical carrier bag, is made of elastic, breathable polyester with a soft lining that is gentle on paintwork and is machine washable. The car cover fits snugly to the car body and emphasises various design features such as the double kidney grille, for example, with the coloured M logo and M Performance lettering.
