Regensburg. BMW Group Plant Regensburg has achieved another major milestone: As projected, the threshold of 100,000 fully-electric vehicles produced since the start of the year was reached today. The milestone vehicle, which came off the assembly line in Regensburg today, watched by Milan Nedeljković, member of the Board of Management of BMW AG responsible for Production, is a BMW iX1. The vehicle, finished in Blue Bay Lagoon metallic, will be shipped to overseas, to the island of La Réunion. The plant has produced this successful premium compact model for customers worldwide since November 2022.

Nedeljković: “We offer a very wide range of fully-electric vehicles across all key segments. Our German plants produce these vehicles for the global market, delivering a major contribution to the growth of e-mobility.”

Regensburg Plant Director Armin Ebner offers a correspondingly positive assessment of the year: “We are meeting customer needs with our BMW iX1 and BMW iX2 models. I am especially proud of our team at Plant Regensburg, who once again showed tremendous commitment and flexibility, despite volatile market conditions. We have achieved our projected growth target for production of fully-electric vehicles in Regensburg in 2024, as promised.

More than a third of the vehicles built at our plant this year were electrified – i.e. a plug-in hybrid or an all-electric model. In 2024, we will substantially exceed last year's figure of 238,301 BMW vehicles built in Regensburg –with annual production of well over 330,000 units in total.”

More than 1,400 BMW X1 and BMW X2 models are currently coming off the production line at BMW Group Plant Regensburg every workday. The core BMW X1 model will be produced with all drive train variants: as a combustion-engine vehicle and plug-in hybrid, alongside the fully-electric BMW iX1.

“Our plant has become even more digital, more circular and more efficient overall this year,” says Ebner. “We are systematically driving our transformation towards electromobility and the BMW iFactory – an intelligently connected digital factory.” Recent accolades, such as being named “FACTORY OF THE YEAR” 2024 in the category “excellent large-series assembly” and receiving the “Best Cars Award” for the BMW X1 from trade journal auto motor und sport in 2024, provide impressive proof of this. “I would like to extend a big thank you to our entire plant team and our partners for everything we have achieved together.”

BMW Group Plants Regensburg and Wackersdorf
The BMW Group vehicle plant in Regensburg has been in operation since 1986 and is one of more than 30 BMW Group production locations worldwide. Every workday, around 1,400 vehicles of the BMW X1 and BMW X2 models roll off the production line at Plant Regensburg, destined for customers around the globe. Different types of drive trains are flexibly manufactured on a single production line – ranging from vehicles with internal combustion engines to plug-in hybrids and fully-electric models.

BMW Group Plant Regensburg was recognised as “FACTORY OF THE YEAR” 2024 in the category “excellent large-series assembly” of the prestigious industrial competition. As it implements the BMW iFACTORY, the BMW Group is focused on digitalisation of the Regensburg plant site to create a digital and intelligently connected factory. It is already possible to experience in virtual form what the factory will look like a few years from now. Production of models for the NEUE KLASSE, BMW’s next generation of vehicles, will ramp up in Regensburg in the second half of the decade.

The BMW Group plant in Wackersdorf is home to cockpit production and parts supply for overseas plants. With the opening of a new battery testing centre and commissioning of the first phase in autumn 2024, the location has also become a key facilitator for electromobility. An entirely new area of expertise for the site is the door and flap production centre for Rolls-Royce.

The BMW Group core staff at the Regensburg and Wackersdorf locations in eastern Bavaria consists of around 9,250 employees, including more than 300 apprentices.

Munich. Les nouvelles fonctionnalités qui viendront enrichir la gamme de modèles BMW à partir de l'automne 2023 sont axées sur les dernières avancées en matière de numérisation. Les nouvelles BMW X1 et BMW Série 2 Active Tourer seront toutes deux équipées de la version améliorée BMW iDrive avec QuickSelect et système d’exploitation BMW 9 à partir de novembre 2023. L’offre BMW Digital Premium, avec sa sélection hautement personnalisable de services en ligne, est également disponible simultanément pour les deux séries de modèles. De plus, des services numériques supplémentaires seront disponibles pour un grand nombre de modèles actuels via Remote Software Upgrade. Dans le même temps, une gamme étendue de fonctions renforcera l’attrait de l’application My BMW.

Plus intuitive et plus facile à utiliser que jamais : la nouvelle BMW iDrive avec QuickSelect.

À partir de novembre 2023, la BMW iDrive mise à niveau avec QuickSelect sera équipée de série sur toutes les versions de la nouvelle BMW X1, de la BMW iX1 100 % électrique et de la nouvelle BMW Série 2 Active Tourer, permettant ainsi d’exécuter de nombreuses fonctions du véhicule de manière encore plus intuitive et aisée. La dernière version du système d’affichage et de commande/d’exploitation est basée sur le système d’exploitation BMW 9 et combinée au BMW Curved Display et au BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant.

La nouvelle BMW iDrive est dotée d’un écran d’accueil repensé et de la technologie d’accès rapide QuickSelect, offrant un menu amélioré qui s’inspire des appareils électroniques grand public. Le nouvel écran d’accueil affiche à tout moment la carte du système de navigation ou d’autres graphiques configurables individuellement sur l’écran de commande. De même, des icônes de fonction sont disposées verticalement du côté conducteur de l’écran. Le conducteur peut passer d’une icône à l’autre d’un simple mouvement du doigt. La fonctionnalité QuickSelect permet d’activer directement la fonction ainsi sélectionnée sans avoir à entrer dans un sous-menu.

Le système d’exploitation BMW Operating System 9 a été développé en interne par BMW Group et repose pour la première fois sur une suite logicielle Android Open Source Project (AOSP). Il fournit la base d'une offre plus large de contenu numérique dédié à l'information et au divertissement, des cycles plus courts de mise à jour des fonctions et une meilleure accessibilité à une foule de services en ligne spécifiques.

Nouvelle offre BMW Digital Premium : sélection personnalisée de jeux, de vidéos et de musiques en diffusion continue et d’autres services en ligne.

La nouvelle offre BMW Digital Premium sortira en Allemagne en novembre 2023 en même temps que le système d’exploitation BMW Operating System 9. Il sera disponible en option sur les modèles BMW X1, BMW iX1 et BMW Série 2 Active Tourer et peut être commandé sur le BMW ConnectedDrive Store, qui a été étendu à la suite de l’ajout d’autres applications tierces. Cela signifie que les clients peuvent profiter de l'utilisation en voiture de toutes les applications disponibles dans leur pays, par exemple la diffusion en continu de vidéos et de musique, les actualités ou les jeux, dans le cadre d'un pack. De plus, BMW Digital Premium inclut également des fonctions de navigation améliorées ainsi que des options de personnalisation supplémentaires grâce à My Modes, par exemple.

Comme pour toutes les autres mises à niveau ConnectedDrive, BMW Digital Premium peut être téléchargé à partir du ConnectedDrive Store sur le site web, dans l’application My BMW ou directement dans la voiture. Et à partir de novembre 2023, il sera encore plus facile pour les clients d’ajouter des mises à niveau ConnectedDrive, car il sera alors possible non seulement de les sélectionner directement depuis le véhicule, mais aussi de les payer en même temps. En d'autres termes, au lieu d'être redirigé vers l'application ou le site Internet pour finaliser leur commande, les clients seront en mesure d'effectuer l'ensemble du processus, y compris le paiement, dans le confort de leur voiture.

Cette nouvelle offre est conçue pour permettre aux clients de composer une sélection personnalisée de services numériques de plus en plus variés, parfaitement adaptés à leurs besoins spécifiques. BMW Digital Premium est disponible en Allemagne, par exemple, pour 9,98 € par mois ou à partir de mi-2024 (provisoirement) pour un forfait annuel de 99 € (toutes deux TVA comprise). Le pack couvre également l’utilisation des données pour tous les services numériques et les applications disponibles sur le BMW ConnectedDrive Store, y compris la musique et le streaming vidéo. Les clients peuvent profiter d’une période d’essai gratuite de trois mois qui leur permettra de tester tous les services et tous les contenus BMW Digital Premium.

Un des éléments clés de BMW Digital Premium consiste en une nouvelle forme de jeu embarqué unique dans le secteur automobile. En collaboration avec la plateforme de jeux AirConsole, BMW présente une vaste sélection de jeux occasionnels qui utilisent un smartphone comme contrôleur. En plus du streaming audio, BMW Digital Premium permet également aux occupants de profiter d’une grande variété de services de streaming vidéo (fournis par Xperi TiVo) sur l’écran de commande lorsque la voiture est à l’arrêt. Cela permet aux clients d'accéder à une sélection toujours plus importante de contenus vidéo rassemblés, tels que les actualités et le streaming en direct ou à la demande de films et de séries, notamment, ainsi que des contenus spécifiques à chaque pays. Disponible avec BMW Digital Premium aux États-Unis, au Royaume-Uni, en Corée du Sud, en France, en Italie, en Allemagne et en Espagne, l’application Video présentera, entre autres, les portails Pluto, Bloomberg Television, Deutsche Welle, Al Jazeera et TED. En Allemagne, le forfait inclura également l'application de service d'information tagesschau ainsi que le populaire service de streaming JOYN. Du contenu spécifique à chaque pays sera également proposé d’emblée en Italie et aux États-Unis. Le portefeuille de plateformes de streaming vidéo continuera à évoluer et sera progressivement déployé dans d'autres pays également.

Fonctions de navigation améliorées, My Modes supplémentaires.

La fonctionnalité améliorée du système de navigation dans le cloud BMW Maps constitue un des principaux avantages de BMW Digital Premium. Par exemple, les informations de circulation en temps réel (RTTI) avec code couleur indiquent l’état de la circulation sur l'ensemble de la zone cartographique, même si le guidage routier n'est pas activé. D'autres fonctions comprennent la visualisation 3D des bâtiments et des éléments environnants dans la vue cartographique et des informations détaillées sur les aires de stationnement. Le conducteur est également informé de manière proactive de la situation actuelle du trafic et de l’heure d’arrivée estimée lorsqu’il se rend à des destinations qu’il fréquente régulièrement. Si nécessaire, le système proposera même un itinéraire alternatif. Les instructions de désactivation et les recommandations de voie sont affichées dans un style réaliste sur l’écran d’information et sur l’affichage tête haute BMW en option.

En Allemagne et dans d’autres pays européens, BMW Digital Premium offre l’avantage supplémentaire de permettre aux conducteurs de payer des frais de stationnement directement depuis leur véhicule dans les zones de stationnement qui prennent en charge ce mode de paiement. Et les conducteurs en Allemagne ont également la possibilité de régler leurs factures de carburant par voie numérique après avoir fait le plein dans les stations-service partenaires. Dans les deux cas, le paiement s’effectue au moyen d’une carte de crédit enregistrée pour la première fois auprès de la société partenaire Parkopedia via l’application My BMW.

En outre, BMW Digital Premium enrichit My Modes avec les modes Expressive, Relax et Digital Art, multipliant ainsi les possibilités de personnalisation de l’expérience de conduite. Il propose également de nouvelles variantes pour la séquence Welcome Light et le graphisme du BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant.

Mises à niveau logicielles à distance actuelles pour un plaisir de conduite accru.

Les mises à jour logicielles à distance actualisent les fonctions numériques existantes. Dans le même temps, de nouvelles fonctionnalités et des améliorations de la qualité peuvent également être importées dans la voiture par voie hertzienne. Les derniers services de jeux embarqués et de streaming vidéo pour les modèles BMW seront ainsi disponibles pour la majorité des véhicules équipés du système d’exploitation BMW 8.5 à l’automne 2023.

Les clients recevront également une notification des mises à jour logicielles à distance dans l’application My BMW. Une autre option consiste à télécharger les mises à niveau via l’application My BMW et à les transférer au véhicule avant d’y lancer le processus d’installation.

Fonctions supplémentaires pour l’application My BMW.

L’application My BMW pour smartphones offre aux clients une connexion directe avec leur voiture et, en fonction de la configuration du véhicule et du pays, elle leur offre l’avantage de nombreuses fonctions conçues pour simplifier davantage la mobilité au quotidien. Cela comprend les informations envoyées sur le smartphone de l’utilisateur concernant le statut de son véhicule, les besoins d’entretien, le statut de recharge et l’autonomie, ainsi que l’accès à distance aux fonctions de localisation de la voiture, de verrouillage et de déverrouillage des portières, de climatisation et de surveillance de l’environnement immédiat du véhicule. Des itinéraires optimisés pour la recharge peuvent également être planifiés via l’application My BMW et les adresses de destination envoyées depuis un smartphone vers le système de navigation du véhicule. À partir de l'automne 2023, il sera également possible d'effectuer des arrêts à mi-parcours dans le cadre du processus.

Et à partir de mars 2024, les clients disposant de smartphones Android compatibles pourront également utiliser l’application My BMW pour accéder aux fonctions Remote Control Parking et Manoeuvre Assistant disponibles avec Parking Assistant Professional en option et la clé numérique BMW Plus. L’application My BMW indiquera également l’état du système d’alarme sur les véhicules qui en sont équipés et indiquera comment il peut être entièrement ou partiellement activé.

Teinte extérieure supplémentaire pour la nouvelle BMW Série 5 Berline, nouvelles jantes en alliage léger de 21 pouces pour la Série 7.

La nouvelle BMW Série 5 Berline adopte une nouvelle teinte extérieure, peu de temps après son lancement. La teinte métallisée Fire Red sera disponible pour la BMW i5 M60 xDrive berline (consommation électrique combinée : 20,6 – 18,2 kWh/100 km en cycle WLTP) à partir de novembre 2023, ainsi que pour toutes les autres variantes de la nouvelle berline spécifiées avec le pack M Sport.

Un autre design hautement exclusif de jantes en alliage léger sera ajouté à la gamme d’options de la BMW Série 7 à partir de novembre 2023. Parallèlement, des jantes BMW Individual en alliage léger de 21 pouces à rayons multiples seront également disponibles sur toutes les versions de la berline de luxe. Elles se caractérisent par une finition bicolore et sont équipées de montes mixtes.

Motorisation et expérience de conduite. Bloc quatre cylindres le plus puissant de la dernière génération de moteurs, technologie de châssis spécifique M, BMW x Drive.

Un modèle performance au caractère M inimitable s’impose au sommet de la nouvelle gamme BMW X1. La nouvelle BMW X1 M35i xDrive s’appuie sur le plaisir de conduite spontané qui est au cœur du concept de SAV compact (Sports Activity Vehicle), avec le mélange de dynamisme, d’agilité et de précision qui ont fait la réputation des modèles M. Son quatre cylindres fait partie de la nouvelle génération modulaire de moteurs Efficient Dynamics de BMW Group et utilise la technologie M TwinPower Turbo pour établir une puissance maximale de 221 kW/300 ch en Europe et une valeur encore plus élevée de 233 kW/317 ch aux États-Unis et sur certains autres marchés.

La nouvelle BMW X1 M35i xDrive atteint 100 km/h départ arrêté en 5,4 secondes, tandis que la vitesse maximale est limitée électroniquement à 250 km/h. La technologie de châssis M spécifique, dont les freins M Compound disponibles pour la première fois sur un modèle performance, est associée à la transmission intégrale intelligente BMW xDrive pour offrir des performances sublimes. Le caractère plus vif de la nouvelle BMW X1 M35i xDrive se manifeste clairement à l’intérieur comme à l’extérieur. Le nouveau modèle de sommet de gamme est doté du design et des équipements exclusifs habituellement réservés aux voitures haute performance de BMW M GmbH. Ces éléments incluent les deux doubles sortis d’échappement et des sièges M sport en option avec logo M illuminé.

La nouvelle BMW X1 M35i xDrive ouvre également la voie en matière de technologie numérique : elle est l’un des premiers modèles à être équipé du nouveau BMW iDrive avec QuickSelect et du système d’exploitation BMW 9. Le lancement commercial de la nouvelle BMW X1 M35i xDrive débutera en octobre 2023 aux États-Unis. Les livraisons en Europe débuteront en novembre 2023. Le modèle phare sera construit dans l’usine de BMW Group à Regensburg, aux côtés des autres versions de la nouvelle BMW X1, dont la BMW iX1 entièrement électrique.

Nouveau quatre cylindres plus puissants.

Incarnation la plus puissante du bloc essence à quatre cylindres de la dernière génération de moteurs modulaires, le moteur déploie une puissance brute que la nouvelle BMW X1 M35i xDrive transforme en performances captivantes. Plusieurs innovations distinguent ces nouveaux moteurs de ceux de la génération précédente, tels que l’adoption du cycle Miller, la refonte des orifices d’admission et des chambres de combustion, ainsi que certaines modifications apportées au niveau du calage de l’arbre à cames, de l’injection, du système d’allumage et du cheminement des gaz d’échappement.

Parmi les points forts spécifiques à la version M du moteur 2.0 litres, on trouve un nouveau système d’entraînement du vilebrequin extrêmement robuste, un système d’alimentation en huile optimisé pour les pistons avec des canaux de refroidissement, ainsi que les coquilles de palier principal et les capuchons repris du moteur à essence six cylindres en ligne de dernière génération. Sa technologie M TwinPower Turbo a été améliorée en augmentant les performances du système de suralimentation et du refroidissement indirect de l’air de suralimentation, tout en intégrant une double injection pour la préparation du mélange en fonction du point de charge. De plus, il est équipé de la distribution variable VANOS avec une alimentation en huile optimisée pour l’actionneur, ainsi que du système de calage entièrement variable des soupapes VALVETRONIC. Le moteur génère sa puissance maximale entre 5750 et 6500 t/min, tandis que le couple maximal de 400 Nm (295 lb-pi) est immédiatement disponible entre 2000 et 4500 t/min.

Le système d’échappement M procure à ce nouveau quatre cylindres à la puissance fougueuse une sonorité riche en émotions. La nouvelle BMW X1 M35i xDrive est le premier modèle performance de BMW M GmbH dont les gaz d’échappement sont acheminés via deux doubles sortis d’échappement. Intégrées dans la jupe arrière à gauche et à droite, elles sont la caractéristique distinctive des modèles BMW M haute performance et équipent désormais également le représentant le plus puissant de la gamme de SAV compacts.

Boîte de vitesses Steptronic à sept rapports avec double embrayage et fonction M Sport Boost

La boîte de vitesses Steptronic à sept rapports qui équipe la nouvelle BMW X1 M35i xDrive assure des passages de vitesse ultra rapides. Les palettes de changement de vitesse placées sur le volant permettent au conducteur d'intervenir rapidement et manuellement dans la sélection des rapports.

La fonction M Sport Boost est également disponible pour des accélérations exceptionnellement rapides. Tous les systèmes du groupe motopropulseur et du châssis passent au réglage le plus sportif lorsque le conducteur appuie sur la palette de changement de vitesse gauche pendant au moins une seconde.

Une traction et une agilité suprêmes : Transmission intégrale BMW xDrive, différentiel mécanique à glissement limité sur l’essieu avant.

La transmission intégrale intelligente BMW xDrive ajuste la répartition de la puissance motrice entre les essieux avant et arrière en fonction des besoins. Le système est connecté en continu à la technologie de contrôle du châssis. Un embrayage à adhérence avec commande électro-hydraulique permet de transférer le couple moteur vers les roues arrière en quelques millisecondes, offrant ainsi une traction, une stabilité directionnelle et des performances sportives nettement supérieures dignes de l’ADN BMW.

Le système de transmission intégrale est soutenu dans sa tâche par le différentiel mécanique à glissement limité intégré à la boîte de vitesses Steptronic à sept rapports de la nouvelle BMW X1 M35i xDrive. Celui-ci a pour fonction de limiter la différence de vitesse entre les roues avant. Avec un facteur de verrouillage pouvant atteindre 26 %, il améliore la traction sur les terrains meubles ou dans des conditions météorologiques défavorables, tout en augmentant l’agilité et la dynamique de conduite dans les virages pris à vitesse élevée.

Suspension M adaptative et direction sport de série.

La nouvelle BMW X1 M35i xDrive comprend de série une suspension adaptative M, dont les amortisseurs à commande mécanique et sélectifs en fréquence améliorent l’agilité et le confort sur de longues distances. Les soupapes supplémentaires interviennent pour atténuer les pics de pression à l’intérieur des amortisseurs lors de leur phase de détente. En conséquence, le système rend la conduite plus confortable en absorbant les petites bosses de la route, tout en offrant des réglages d’amortissement plus sportifs lors d’une conduite dynamique.

La technologie de châssis M du modèle performance induit également une réduction de la hauteur de caisse de 15 millimètres par rapport aux autres versions du modèle BMW X1. La direction sportive, également de série, associe l’assistance électrique Servotronic asservie à la vitesse à un rapport de démultiplication très direct.

Système de freinage intégré avec freins M Compound en option.

Le système de freinage intégré de la nouvelle BMW X1 M35i xDrive génère une puissance de freinage qui est adaptée de manière précise aux sollicitations du conducteur, tout en offrant une excellente rétroaction via la pédale de frein. Il regroupe les fonctions d’activation, de renforcement et de contrôle des freins au sein d’un module compact. De plus, un actionneur électrique est utilisé pour déclencher la pression de freinage requise.

La nouvelle BMW X1 M35i xDrive est le premier modèle performance de BMW M GmbH à être proposé en option avec des freins M Compound. Ces freins comprennent des étriers fixes à quatre pistons avec des disques percés de 385 millimètres à l’avant, et des étriers flottants à piston unique avec frein de stationnement intégré et des disques de 330 millimètres à l’arrière. Les disques de frein à ventilation interne sont composés d’un anneau en fonte grise et d’une chambre en aluminium. Les freins M Compound offrent un freinage très confortable, un ressenti agréable et une puissance d’arrêt stable, même sous des charges élevées. De plus, le poids a été réduit au minimum et les masses non suspendues sont nettement réduites par rapport à des systèmes de freinage conventionnels. Les étriers de freins sont peints en gris et portent le logo M.

Limitation du patinage des roues près de l’actionneur pour une agilité plus vive.

La technologie de limitation du patinage des roues, agissant au niveau de l’actionneur, est l’un des éléments particulièrement importants, aux côtés du système DSC (Contrôle dynamique de la stabilité), qui permet de garantir la tenue de route irréprochable et l’agilité remarquable de la BMW X1 M35i xDrive. La fonction antipatinage est intégrée à la gestion du moteur. Cette configuration réduit considérablement les trajets du signal jusqu’à l’unité de contrôle DSC, ce qui permet d’appliquer les corrections dix fois plus rapidement que dans les systèmes conventionnels et avec une précision extrême. Le système de limitation du patinage des roues situé près de l’actionneur assure ainsi une traction optimale (même sur les routes glissantes), une stabilité irréprochable en ligne droite lors d’une accélération soutenue et une excellente stabilité directionnelle dans les virages.

Jantes M 19" en alliage léger de série.

Les jantes M en alliage léger à doubles rayons et d’un diamètre de 19 pouces complètent les spécifications exclusives du châssis de la nouvelle BMW X1 M35i xDrive. Les jantes en alliage léger de série sont dotées de pneus 20 millimètres plus larges que sur le modèle précédent, ce qui confère à ce modèle de sommet de gamme des capacités dynamiques encore accrues en termes de tenue de route. Des jantes M en alliage léger de 20 pouces, au design exclusif à doubles rayons, ainsi que des pneus sport sont disponibles en option.

Design et équipements. Un aperçu exclusif des performances de la gamme M.

La nouvelle BMW X1 M35i xDrive se distingue de ses homologues de la gamme des SAV compacts grâce à ses performances supérieures, mais aussi par son design distinctif. Les éléments M spécifiques reflètent le caractère sportif exceptionnel du nouveau modèle haut de gamme, avec une intensité supérieure à celle de tous les précédents modèles performance de BMW M GmbH.

L’habitacle de la nouvelle BMW X1 M35i xDrive offre une ambiance résolument sportive dès sa version de série. Son aura distinctive peut être sublimée davantage encore par des options exclusives telles que les sièges M Sport. Le contenu spécifique au modèle M du BMW Curved Display, une unité entièrement numérique comprenant l’écran d’information de 10,25 pouces et l’écran de contrôle de 10,7 pouces de diagonale, met davantage le conducteur en relation avec l’aspect sportif de la conduite. En outre, la version la plus puissante du SAV compact peut être spécifiée avec quasiment toutes les options proposées pour la BMW X1 afin d’optimiser le plaisir de conduite, le confort et la personnalisation.

Design distinctif et détails M familiers : Calandre M avec doubles barres horizontales, coques de rétroviseurs M, quatre sorties d’échappement.

Les éléments de design spécifiquement M de la nouvelle BMW X1 M35i xDrive témoignent des impératifs techniques propres à une voiture exceptionnellement sportive, notamment en ce qui concerne l’apport en air de refroidissement et l’équilibre aérodynamique. Une jupe avant dotée d’entrées d’air particulièrement larges permet au moteur, à la transmission et aux freins de fonctionner en permanence dans leur plage de température optimale, même lors d’une conduite intense. Les extensions proéminentes du bas de caisse, un becquet de toit spécifique au modèle et une jupe arrière avec un diffuseur orné d’un insert mettent en valeur de manière saisissante le caractère axé sur les performances du nouveau modèle phare.

La grille de calandre BMW M de la nouvelle BMW X1 M35i xDrive porte le logo M. La calandre arbore également des doubles barres horizontales, un détail auparavant réservé aux modèles haute performance de BMW M GmbH. De profil, les coques de rétroviseurs M en noir avec un design à double montant illustrent le statut élevé du modèle au sein de la gamme. Parmi les caractéristiques distinctives, on trouve également les quatre sorties d’échappement – chacune d’un diamètre de 80 millimètres – intégrées à la jupe arrière spécifique du modèle. Comme sur les modèles haute performance mentionnés ci-dessus, ces deux paires de sorties d’échappement positionnées à l’extrême gauche et droite de l’arrière de la BMW X1 M35i xDrive signalent avec une clarté incontestable la présence du moteur le plus performant de cette gamme de modèles.

Intérieur spécifique M, avec sièges M sport en option.

Le design spécifique du cockpit, propre à la gamme M, contribue à créer une atmosphère immersive et dynamique, pour une expérience de conduite intense. Les points forts incluent un tableau de bord garni d’Alcantara, des inserts décoratifs Aluminium Hexacube Dark, un ciel de pavillon anthracite, des seuils de porte M, des pédales M, les graphismes M du BMW Curved Display – et, en option, l’affichage tête haute BMW – et un volant M en cuir avec palettes de changement de vitesse.

L’équipement de série de la nouvelle BMW X1 M35i xDrive comprend des sièges sport noirs Sensatec/Alcantara avec surpiqûres contrastées bleues. Ils peuvent également être commandés en option avec une garniture en cuir Vernasca avec un matelassage spécial en losange. Des sièges M sport sont proposés en option. Ces derniers offrent une large gamme de réglages électriques (y compris la fonction mémoire pour le siège du conducteur), des appuie-têtes intégrés et un logo M illuminé dans la partie supérieure des dossiers.

L’ambiance intérieure résolument sportive va de pair avec une fonctionnalité illimitée. La banquette arrière de la nouvelle BMW X1 M35i xDrive se replie selon un ratio de 40/20/40. De plus, l’angle d’inclinaison de chaque section peut être ajusté individuellement. Le réglage avant/arrière en option des sièges arrière offre encore plus de flexibilité. La capacité du coffre peut être augmentée de 540 litres à un maximum de 1600 litres.

Des options sophistiquées pour une personnalisation accrue.

Un pack M Sport Pro spécifique au modèle est disponible en option sur la BMW X1 M35i xDrive. Il ajoute des garnitures en finition M High Gloss Shadowline avec des éléments étendus, ainsi que des phares M Shadowline, qui viennent compléter le design extérieur déjà expressif de la voiture. Sont également inclus le système de freinage M Sport avec étriers rouges, ainsi que les sièges M Sport et les ceintures de sécurité M.

La nouvelle BMW X1 M35i xDrive est équipée de série d’une climatisation automatique à deux zones, du BMW Live Cockpit Plus avec système de navigation BMW Maps, de rails de toit M en Black High Gloss, d’un hayon automatique et d’un capteur de pluie avec activation automatique des phares, ainsi que de quatre ports USB-C et de deux prises de courant 12 V. Afin d’accentuer davantage le caractère premium du modèle, les clients peuvent opter pour un ensemble de rétroviseurs intérieurs et extérieurs, un éclairage d’ambiance, un toit panoramique et le système audio Harman Kardon.

Un large éventail de systèmes de pointe permettant la conduite et le stationnement automatisés peuvent également être spécifiés pour ce modèle performance. Le système d’alerte anticollision avant, le régulateur de vitesse avec fonction de freinage et l’aide au stationnement avec caméra de recul et assistant de recul sont déjà montés de série. La liste des fonctionnalités en option comprend les systèmes Steering et Lane Control Assistant, le régulateur de vitesse actif avec Stop & Go, la navigation active et la fonction d’alerte de sortie, les fonctions Surround View et Remote 3D View, ainsi que les systèmes d’enregistrement BMW Drive Recorder et Remote Theft Recorder. Les fonctions existantes peuvent être améliorées grâce aux mises à jour logicielles à distance, qui permettent également d’ajouter de nouvelles fonctionnalités (disponibilité en fonction du matériel embarqué et des conditions du marché).

Système d’affichage et de contrôle/exploitation, connectivité.

Mise à jour de BMW iDrive avec QuickSelect et système d’exploitation BMW 9.

La nouvelle BMW X1 M35i xDrive est l’un des premiers modèles de la marque à bénéficier de la version mise à jour du système de commande/opération BMW iDrive avec QuickSelect et du système d’exploitation BMW 9. Afin de rendre la sélection et l’utilisation de nombreuses fonctions et services numériques encore plus intuitives et simples, la dernière génération de BMW iDrive offre un nouvel écran d’accueil et une fonction QuickSelect. La structure du menu a été améliorée et s’inspire des appareils électroniques grand public. En fournissant les bonnes informations au bon endroit, le nouveau BMW iDrive contribue à offrir une expérience de conduite plus sûre et confiante.

Le système BMW iDrive mis à jour avec QuickSelect de la nouvelle BMW X1 M35i xDrive est soutenu par le système d’exploitation BMW 9. Cette technologie permet une offre élargie en contenus numériques liés à l’information et au divertissement, des cycles de mise à jour plus courts et un accès amélioré à de nombreux services en ligne spécifiques. BMW iDrive avec QuickSelect est combiné à l’écran incurvé BMW et au BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, et est donc spécifiquement conçu pour une utilisation via l’écran tactile et le langage naturel.

BMW iDrive with QuickSelect : Les fonctions sont affichées sur un seul niveau et activées à l’aide d’une technologie d’accès rapide.

Le nouvel écran d’accueil du système d’exploitation BMW 9 affiche en continu la carte du système de navigation ou d’autres éléments visuels configurables selon les préférences de l’utilisateur. Au même niveau, les icônes des fonctions apparaissent disposées verticalement du côté du conducteur sur l’écran de contrôle. Le conducteur peut ensuite naviguer entre ces icônes en effectuant un balayage vertical du doigt. La technologie d’accès rapide QuickSelect permet d’accéder directement aux fonctions demandées sans avoir à passer par un sous-menu. Et une fois les paramètres pertinents choisis, il suffit d'appuyer rapidement sur l'icône d'accueil située sur le bord inférieur de l'écran pour revenir à l'écran d'accueil. À côté du symbole d’accueil figurent maintenant les symboles permettant d’accéder directement au menu de la climatisation, au menu Applications et à Apple CarPlay^® / Android Auto™, s’ils sont activés.

La nouvelle structure simplifiée du menu permet d’activer les fonctions et réglages de manière beaucoup plus pratique. Le contenu numérique embarqué – tout comme le matériel, sous la forme de l’écran incurvé BMW – est conçu pour renforcer l’attention du conducteur, une caractéristique qui fait la renommée de BMW. Pour garantir une utilisation intuitive lors de vos déplacements, l’interface graphique et la structure du menu présentent une disposition développée par BMW Group Design qui est à la fois cohérente et caractéristique de la marque.

Une gamme de services numériques qui peut être étendue à la demande.

Parmi les fonctionnalités de série du BMW iDrive mis à jour de la nouvelle BMW X1 M35i xDrive figure la dernière génération du système de navigation basé sur le cloud, BMW Maps. De plus, les services et applications déjà introduits dans la nouvelle BMW X1 sont également disponibles avec le système d’exploitation BMW 9. Par exemple, l’assistant personnel intelligent BMW et d’autres assistants contrôlés par la voix, le BMW ConnectedDrive Store, les mises à jour logicielles à distance, l’intégration des smartphones via Apple Car^® / Android Auto™ et les modes personnalisés peuvent également être utilisés dans la nouvelle BMW X1 M35i xDrive. La carte e-SIM personnelle en option permet au système d’antenne de la voiture de fonctionner avec la technologie mobile 5G.

Le système d’exploitation BMW 9 pose également les bases pour une sélection hautement personnalisable de services numériques supplémentaires. La nouvelle offre BMW Digital Premium donne aux clients accès à un BMW ConnectedDrive Store élargi. Ils peuvent ainsi utiliser toutes les applications disponibles dans leur pays, par exemple le streaming musical, les actualités ou les jeux, sur la base d’un abonnement. BMW Digital Premium propose également des fonctions de navigation améliorées avec BMW Maps et des fonctionnalités étendues pour l’assistant personnel intelligent BMW, ainsi que des modes personnalisés supplémentaires. Les avantages optionnels incluent l’utilisation des données pour tous les services numériques et les applications disponibles sur le BMW ConnectedDrive Store, y compris le streaming musical. BMW Digital Premium peut être téléchargé dans la voiture depuis le BMW ConnectedDrive Store, via l’App My BMW ou sur le Web. Munich. The current new editions of the BMW X1 and the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer are characterised by offering versatile driving pleasure. The fact that the progress associated with the generation change also leads to an increase in active and passive safety has now been confirmed in the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP). The independent safety experts of the European Consumer Protection Institute awarded both the Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) and the modern all-rounder in the premium compact segment the highest rating of 5 stars. In the demanding test procedure, the new BMW X1 and the new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer stood out thanks to their excellent occupant protection in collisions of various types, effective protection for pedestrians and cyclists, as well as effective accident avoidance systems.

The extensive standard equipment featuring safety-relevant driver assistance systems decisively contributed to the 5-star rating. Above all, the latest generation of front collision warning with braking function provides an additional plus in safety in urban traffic. It can now also detect pedestrians and cyclists approaching parallel to the lane from behind or in front when turning right, effectively helping to avoid a collision with weaker road users. In addition, the new system warns of oncoming traffic when turning left. All of the driver assistance systems used in the new BMW X1 and the new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer are among the best on the market and impressed the Euro NCAP safety experts with their range of functions and reliable level of response.

The new BMW X1 and the new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer convinced the experts with their innovative systems in the area of passive safety. Both models feature a centre airbag between the driver and front passenger seats as standard. This system, used for the first time in BMW models in the compact segment, was rated to be extremely effective in the test. It is the latest component of the BMW integrated safety concept, which is being advanced constantly and which, in addition to highly resilient support structures and precisely designed deformation paths, also includes a model-specific combination of precisely coordinated restraint systems.

In various collision tests, this integrated safety concept proved to guarantee a high level of protection against injury at all times in both models, regardless of the size and seating position of the occupants.  In both the front and rear seats, the headrests and seats of the new BMW X1 and the new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer effectively protect against cervical injuries that can be triggered by a rear-end collision, according to Euro NCAP. In addition, the test experts highlighted the standard equipment featured by both models with the intelligent emergency call and an emergency braking system for avoiding secondary collisions.

To reduce the risk of injury to pedestrians and cyclists, the new BMW X1 and new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer feature active engine compartment lids. In the event of an impact, the engine compartment lids are raised by means of pyrotechnic actuators to create additional deformation space between them and the hard components underneath. The system proved to be reliable and effective at different speeds in the Euro NCAP safety test.

The ratings of the Euro NCAP testing institute are a benchmark for accident safety recognised Europe-wide and the safety level is being raised constantly. Only new vehicles that offer excellent impact protection and are also well equipped with comprehensive and practical technology for accident avoidance receive the highest rating of 5 stars.

Le compte à rebours du festival le plus féérique du monde est enfin terminé ; le début des festivités peut commencer ! Après près de deux ans d’absence, Tomorrowland a enfin lieu – et à une échelle plus grande que jamais.

Depuis 2019, BMW AG met tout en œuvre pour consolider sa stratégie musicale au niveau international - la musique étant l'un des principaux piliers expérientiels du marketing mix de BMW dans le monde. C’est ainsi que le partenariat local initié entre BMW Belux et Tomorrowland s’est étayé à l’echelle européenne – avec des opportunités uniques de campagnes d’activation. A cet effet, notre voyage musical commenca mi-juin à l'aéroport de Bruxelles dans un thème féérique hors du commun, celui d’une forêt magique (“The Magical Forest by BMW”). Un Call To Action à grande échelle via la plateforme Tomorrowland fut également mis en place, avec une portée immense de plus de 15 million de followers.

Un message de positivité et de durabilité pour les festivaliers

Habillage unique pour une voiture unique et un festival unique ! L’unicité de la BMW iX1 x Steve Aoki réside dans le fait qu’elle porte sur elle tous les vœux et les souhaits des festivaliers. Pour cela, une page web spécialement dédiée a été créée pour partager son propre "Message Of Joy" personnel - un message, un ressenti ou une pensée positive sur l’avenir à partager avec le monde entier #UNITEDINJOY. Certains de ces messages ont ensuite été utilisés pour développer le design d'habillage de la voiture - le tout avec la contribution créative du BMW Friend et DJ international, Steve Aoki.

La BMW iX1 x Steve Aoki et son design exceptionnel siègera fièrement au sein de la « Magical Forest by BMW » tout au long des 3 week-ends du festival. Le stand BMW sera accessible à tous les visiteurs. Ils pourront y voir la voiture, prendre des photos ou des vidéos, et même participer à une action de gain sur place (lead generation).

La nouvelle BMW X1 sera construite à l'usine de Ratisbonne, où des modèles dotés de moteurs à combustion, de systèmes hybrides rechargeables et d'une propulsion entièrement électrique sortiront pour la première fois d'une même chaîne de montage.

La BMW iX1 apportera l'expérience du plaisir de conduire sans émissions locales à un segment de véhicules qui connaît une croissance mondiale, ce qui la rendra accessible à un très large public cible. Le SAV compact équipé de la toute dernière technologie BMW eDrive donnera donc une impulsion majeure à la montée en puissance accélérée de la mobilité électrique. Les améliorations en matière de durabilité par rapport au modèle précédent peuvent être attribuées en partie non seulement aux mesures d'électrification de grande envergure, mais aussi à l'utilisation accrue d'énergie verte, tant pour la production que dans la chaîne d'approvisionnement, et aux plus grandes quantités de matières premières secondaires et de matériaux naturels utilisés.

Design : traitement moderne des surfaces, présence visuelle accrue et allure robuste dans le style inimitable du modèle BMW X.

Le traitement de surface, les lignes et les détails élégants du design extérieur de la BMW X1 affichent plus clairement que jamais son identité de Sports Activity Vehicle dans sa troisième génération de modèle. Les caractéristiques distinctives du design comprennent les proportions puissantes, les contours presque carrés des passages de roue et le style caractéristique du modèle BMW X pour les parties avant et arrière.

La partie avant verticale de la nouvelle BMW X1 lui confère un sentiment de présence beaucoup plus grand, avec des phares à DEL minces, une grande calandre presque carrée, des lignes en forme de X rayonnant sur les côtés et des bandes chromées accrocheuses dans la prise d'air inférieure servant d'éléments de définition. Les phares adaptatifs à LED avec feux de route matriciels, clignotants pulsés et répartition variable de la lumière sont disponibles en option.

Des surfaces sculptées de manière expressive et une longue ligne de toit sont les éléments distinctifs de la silhouette dynamiquement étirée du nouveau modèle. Vu de l'arrière, la fine vitre du hayon, les lignes horizontales, les feux à LED marquants et les passages de roues évasés produisent le look typique des SAV.

L'aura de robustesse de la nouvelle BMW X1 peut être intensifiée avec beaucoup d'effet grâce aux éléments de design spécifiques du modèle xLine, qui incluent une protection anti-encastrement stylisée. Le modèle M Sport, également proposé en alternative à l'équipement de base, met l'accent sur le plaisir de conduite dynamique avec des caractéristiques telles que ses grandes entrées d'air de refroidissement.

Toutes les variantes du modèle sont équipées de série de jantes en alliage léger de 17 pouces. Le concept de sécurité passive intégré comprend désormais un nouvel airbag d'interaction entre les sièges avant.

Le compartiment arrière de la nouvelle BMW X1 comprend trois sièges de taille normale offrant une amélioration notable du confort d'assise. Les dossiers des sièges arrière, divisés en 40 : 20 : 40, peuvent être rabattus ou ajustés à un angle différent pour augmenter la capacité du coffre. Le réglage avant-arrière des sièges arrière, disponible en option sur les modèles à moteur à combustion pure, offre une polyvalence encore plus grande. Le volume du coffre peut être porté de 540 à 1 600 litres maximum. L'attelage de remorque disponible en option sur la nouvelle BMW X1 est désormais commandé électriquement par simple pression sur un bouton.

Climatisation automatique à deux zones, volant en cuir Sport et BMW Maps de série.

Le système de navigation BMW Maps, le volant en cuir Sport, la climatisation automatique intelligente à deux zones et le détecteur de pluie avec allumage automatique des phares sont tous de série sur la nouvelle génération de la BMW X1, tout comme quatre ports USB-C, deux prises de courant 12V et un nombre bien plus important de systèmes d'aide à la conduite par rapport au modèle sortant.

Des packs d'équipements restructurés permettent une individualisation ciblée de la voiture. Le caractère premium peut encore monter d'un cran grâce aux équipements optionnels tels que le pack rétroviseur, l'éclairage d'ambiance, le toit ouvrant panoramique en verre et le système audio Harman Kardon.

BMW iX1 : une nouvelle ère de plaisir de conduire dans le SAV compact commence.

La BMW iX1 xDrive30 est la première voiture électrique à quatre roues motrices introduite par la marque dans le segment des compactes premium. Deux unités d'entraînement hautement intégrées sur les essieux avant et arrière délivrent une puissance combinée de 230 kW/313 ch (en tenant compte de l'effet de suralimentation temporaire), et affichent un couple global de 494 Nm (364 lb-ft). Un véhicule polyvalent offrant un mélange optimal d'agilité et de confort de conduite.

Quel que soit le système d'entraînement utilisé, tous les nouveaux modèles BMW X1 offrent des caractéristiques de comportement bien définies dans toutes les situations et procurent l'expérience de conduite qui fait la renommée de la marque. La technologie sophistiquée du châssis du véhicule compact polyvalent permet d'obtenir un équilibre parfaitement harmonieux entre le comportement sportif et agile d'une part et le confort sur longue distance d'autre part. Tous les outils nécessaires à cet effet sont fournis par une construction de carrosserie qui réduit le poids tout en augmentant la rigidité, un empattement long, des voies plus larges que le modèle précédent et des améliorations ciblées de l'essieu à jambe de force à ressort à simple articulation à l'avant et de l'essieu arrière à trois bras.

La limitation du patinage des roues, proche de l'actionneur, est montée de série sur la nouvelle BMW X1, ce qui profite à la fois à la traction et à la stabilité directionnelle. Parmi les autres nouveautés, citons le système de freinage intégré et l'amortissement supplémentaire lié au soulèvement de l'essieu avant. La suspension adaptative M, disponible en option, comprend un amortissement sélectif en fonction de la fréquence, une direction sportive et un abaissement de 15 millimètres de la hauteur de caisse.

Grande variété de systèmes pour la conduite et le stationnement automatisés.

Les progrès technologiques réalisés dans la nouvelle BMW X1 par rapport au modèle sortant se manifestent également dans la variété beaucoup plus grande des systèmes automatisés de conduite et de stationnement disponibles à l'utilisation. Parmi les équipements de série, citons le régulateur de vitesse avec fonction de freinage et le système d'alerte en cas de collision frontale, qui est désormais également capable de détecter la circulation en sens inverse lors d'un virage à gauche (dans les pays où les véhicules circulent à droite) et les piétons et cyclistes lors d'un virage à droite. Les fonctions existantes peuvent être mises à niveau grâce à la fonction de mise à jour logicielle à distance, qui permet également d'ajouter de nouvelles fonctions (la disponibilité dépend du matériel installé dans le véhicule et des conditions du marché).

Standard : BMW Operating System 8 et le nouveau BMW iDrive.

La nouvelle BMW X1 offre également à ses occupants l'expérience multisensorielle BMW iDrive de dernière génération sous la forme du BMW Live Cockpit Plus de série. Basé sur le système d'exploitation BMW 8, il comprend l'écran incurvé BMW avec ses graphiques et sa structure de menu ultramodernes, ainsi que l'assistant personnel intelligent BMW qui a désormais acquis des compétences supplémentaires. Le groupe d'écrans entièrement numériques est formé par l'écran d'information de 10,25 pouces et l'écran de contrôle d'une diagonale d'écran de 10,7 pouces. Le nouveau BMW iDrive est orienté de manière ciblée vers une commande tactile et vocale intuitive. La numérisation à grande échelle de l'intérieur permet de réduire considérablement le nombre de boutons physiques, de commandes et d'interrupteurs nécessaires au fonctionnement.

Munich. The sales launch of the BMW iX and the BMW i4 in November 2021 marks the beginning of a new era of purely electric premium mobility. In addition to sustainable driving pleasure, the two new models also offer the latest innovations in the field of driver assistance systems and, with the new generation of the BMW iDrive operating system, represent the future of intuitive interaction between driver and vehicle. Parallel to this, the BMW model range will also undergo targeted further development in autumn 2021. Additional drive variants and innovations in the areas of design and digital services increase the diversity and attractiveness of the current range.

The model range of the new BMW 4 Series Convertible will be expanded by three new drive variants from November 2021. In future, an 8-speed Steptronic transmission will be standard equipment for one additional model variant each of the BMW X1 and the BMW X2. New paint finishes are available for the BMW 1 Series, BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé, BMW X2, BMW X3 and BMW X4 models. The functional scope of the My BMW App is complemented by further digital services. The BMW i brand is not only setting trends with its two new models. The pioneer of all-electric premium mobility, the BMW i3, will be offered in a limited Unique Forever Edition from November 2021. And in the BMW iX3, a predictive battery heat management system will optimise the way in which DC fast charging stations will be used in the future.

BMW 4 Series Convertible: Two additional BMW M automobiles and a further all-wheel drive model.
The combination of sporty performance and open-air pleasure in a BMW 4 Series model will be enriched even further in autumn 2021. In the new BMW M 440i Convertible (combined fuel consumption: 8.3 – 7.7 l/100 km according to WLTP; combined CO₂ emissions: 190 - 175 g/km according to WLTP), a 275 kW/374 hp inline 6-cylinder petrol engine with 48-volt mild hybrid technology ensures particularly purist driving pleasure by transferring its power to the rear wheels. An 8-speed Steptronic sports transmission and an M sports differential in the final drive also contribute to the thrilling driving dynamics as standard. This is reflected, among other things, by accerlation from 0 - 100 km/h from standstill in 5.2 seconds.

An inline 6-cylinder diesel engine and the intelligent BMW xDrive all-wheel drive system make the second new BMW M automobile a thrilling open-top drive. With a peak output of 250 kW/340 hp, a maximum torque of 700 Nm and 48-volt mild hybrid technology, the new BMW M440d xDrive Convertible (combined fuel consumption: 6.6 – 6.0 l/100 km according to WLTP; combined CO₂ emissions: 172 - 157 g/km according to WLTP) has impressive pulling power. 5.0 seconds are sufficient for the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h. An 8-speed Steptronic sports transmission and an M sports differential are also standard equipment in this model variant.

In addition, the model range for the open-top four-seater in the premium mid-size segment is expanded to include the new BMW 430i xDrive Convertible (combined fuel consumption: 8.1 – 7.3 l/100 km according to WLTP; combined CO₂ emissions: 183 - 166 g/km according to WLTP). With its 180 kW/245 hp 4-cylinder petrol engine, an 8-speed Steptronic transmission and intelligent all-wheel drive, it accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 6.3 seconds. The 8-speed Steptronic sports transmission and the M sports differential are optionally available for this model.

BMW X1 xDrive18d and BMW X2 xDrive18d now feature 8-speed Steptronic transmission as standard.
Driving pleasure and comfort will be enhanced in autumn 2021 as the 8-speed Steptronic transmission is included in further model variants of the BMW X1 and BMW X2 as standard. The fast and efficient automatic transmission is characterised by a high level of shifting comfort and a particularly favourable internal efficiency. In future, it will also be available as standard with the 110 kW/150 hp 4-cylinder diesel engine of the BMW X1 xDrive18d models (combined fuel consumption: 6.1 – 5.4 l/100 km according to WLTP; combined CO₂ emissions: 159 – 142 g/km according to WLTP) and the BMW X2 xDrive18d (combined fuel consumption: 6.1 – 5.4 l/100 km according to WLTP; combined CO₂ emissions: 160 - 142 g/km according to WLTP).

With the new drive combination, both models accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 9.4 seconds. An optional 8-speed Steptronic sports transmission is also available, operated by paddle shifts on the steering wheel.

New paint finishes for numerous model series.
New paint finishes for numerous current BMW models allow for additional customisation opportunities. The Skyscraper Grey metallic variant will be available for the BMW 1 Series, the BMW X2 and the BMW X3 from November 2021. Also new to the range are the BMW Individual paint finishes Frozen Pure Grey metallic for the BMW 1 Series and the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé, as well as Aventurine Red metallic for the BMW X3 and the BMW X4.

My BMW App with extended range of functions.
Planning travel routes and transferring them to the car, receiving information about the car’ status and live images from its surroundings, arranging service appointments or receiving news from the brand - the My BMW app makes all this possible on the customer's smartphone. It serves as a universal interface for communication between car and customer, the BMW brand and the BMW dealer. The range of functions of the My BMW App will be expanded again in autumn 2021. In future, for example, the images transmitted by the Remote 3D View service will be stored in a gallery, including information about the location and time of the shots. The status of the vehicle's air conditioning and ventilation is now also clearly displayed in the My BMW app.

In addition, the My BMW app now also provides drivers with comprehensive information on the condition of the vehicle's tyres on their smartphone. This new feature helps to minimise the risk of breakdowns and is available for the BMW 1 Series, BMW 3 Series and BMW 4 Series models, the new BMW 2 Series Coupé, the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé, the BMW Z4 as well as the BMW X5, BMW X6 and BMW X7. The My BMW app displays the wheel-specific values as measured by the tyre pressure system. In addition, the digital tyre diagnosis, which is unique in the competitive environment, can also transmit information about a defect or wear of the tyres via the My BMW app. In the BMW backend, the data from the tyre pressure control system is processed together with the values for temperature and wheel speeds to create a forecast of the remaining life of the tyres. As a supplement to tyre pressure control, indications of tyre damage are also registered.

Intelligent battery heat management for the BMW iX3.
To ensure the fastest and most efficient power feed at DC fast-charging stations, regardless of operating and outside temperatures, the BMW iX3 (combined power consumption: 19.0 - 18.6 L/100 km according to WLTP, 18.5 - 18.9 L/100 km according to NEDC) will be equipped with intelligent thermal management for the high-voltage battery as in the BMW i4 / BMW iX from November 2021. As soon as the active route guidance of the navigation system foresees a stopover at a High Power Charging Station, it already ensures that the battery is automatically preconditioned before arrival.

The appropriate heating or cooling ensures that the high-voltage battery is at the ideal temperature for charging at maximum power on arrival. The thermal management takes into account, among other things, the battery temperature, the remaining range, the predicted charging power and the planned scope of the charging process as part of the overall route calculation.

BMW i3 and BMW i3s in the Unique Forever Edition.
From November 2021, the BMW i3 models (combined electricity consumption: 16.3 - 15.3 L/100 km according to WLTP, 13.1 L/100 km according to NEDC and BMW i3s (combined electricity consumption: 16.6 - 16.3 L/100 km according to WLTP, 14.6 - 14.0 L/100 km according to NEDC) in the Unique Forever Edition. The naming of the new special edition refers to the unique character of the world's first premium automobile designed from the outset for purely electric mobility. The BMW i3 represents a holistic understanding of sustainability not only with its drive system, but also with its particularly lightweight passenger cell made of carbon fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) and extensive use of natural and recycled materials in its interior. Eight years after being launched on the market, it is still a globally recognised symbol of locally emission-free urban mobility.

The edition vehicles are characterised by particularly high-grade and exclusive design and equipment features. The two BMW Individual paint finishes, available for the first time for the BMW i3, ensure a stylish appearance. The Aventurine Red metallic variant is combined with an accent in Frozen Grey metallic and the Storm Bay metallic paint finish with an accent in Frozen E-Copper. The interior surfaces of the BMW grille are also finished in the respective accent colour. Other special features include the omission of the trim strip and model lettering on the luggage compartment lid and a black insert for the rear bumper. In the interior of the edition vehicles, the contents of the Suite equipment world - including the Vernasca Dark Truffle leather combination, the leather instrument panel, the fine wood surface in dark matt oak, the leather steering wheel, the Carum grey roof lining and the ambient lighting - are supplemented by specific design elements. The front headrests are embroidered with the words "Unique Forever", the door trim panels in the area of the exterior mirrors bear the inscription "One of 2,000“.

The Unique Forever Edition models are produced in a limited edition of 2,000 units at the BMW plant in Leipzig. Only electricity generated by the wind turbines on the factory premises is used.

Munich. Increased efficiency through consistent electrification, optimised emissions and innovations in the areas of driver assistance and digital services are the focus of the model revision measures for numerous BMW model series that will take effect in autumn 2020. From November 2020, all models of the premium brand will meet the requirements of the currently strictest exhaust emission standard Euro 6d. In the BMW 5 Series, the range of plug-in hybrid models has been extended by three new variants. New inline 6-cylinder diesel engines and 48-volt mild hybrid technology lower fuel consumption and emissions of selected models in the BMW 3 Series and BMW 8 Series. In addition, further engines will supplement the drive portfolio of the BMW 1 Series and the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé.

Efficiency becomes more diverse: World premiere for five plug-in hybrid models in the BMW 5 Series.
The range of BMW models with electrified drive systems will also be consistently expanded in autumn 2020. The expanded range of the following electrified models is especially attractive: BMW 545e xDrive Sedan (fuel consumption combined: 2.3 – 2.2 l/100 km; combined power consumption: 16.3 – 15.8 kWh/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 53 – 49 g/km; electric range: 47 – 57 km), BMW 530e Touring (combined fuel consumption: 2.0 – 1.8 l/100 km; combined power consumption: 16.1 – 15.4 kWh/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 46 – 42 g/km; electric range: 52 – 57 km (WLTP)) and BMW 530e xDrive Touring (combined fuel consumption: 2.4 – 2.2 l/100 km; combined power consumption: 16.7 – 16.1 kWh/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 54 – 50 g/km; electric range: 48 – 53 km (WLTP)). The BMW 5 Series model range now already includes five plug-in hybrid variants. In the upper mid-size class, BMW offers the largest selection of models with electrified drive.

In the new BMW 545e xDrive Sedan, an inline 6-cylinder petrol engine and an electric drive integrated into the 8-speed Steptronic transmission deliver impressive driving dynamics in a particularly efficient manner. The power of the two drive units adds up to a maximum system output of 290 kW/394 hp and is distributed between the front and rear wheels as required by the intelligent BMW xDrive all-wheel drive. The brand’s hallmark combination of energy efficiency and sportiness also characterises the new Touring models, whose plug-in hybrid system consists of a 4-cylinder petrol engine and an electric drive system also integrated into the 8-speed Steptronic transmission. Together they generate a system output of up to 215 kW/292 hp in the XtraBoost mode when load requirements are particularly high.

Increased dynamic performance and reduced fuel consumption: New inline 6-cylinder diesel engines with 48-volt mild hybrid technology in the BMW 3 Series and BMW 8 Series.
With the introduction of 48-volt mild hybrid technology in additional models, BMW continues to consistently reduce fuel consumption and emissions in its current vehicle fleet. This is linked to the introduction of a new generation of inline 6-cylinder diesel engines. As of autumn 2020, four mid-size models of the BMW 3 Series and three luxury sports cars of the BMW 8 Series will offer noticeably more dynamic performance and increased efficiency.

This twofold and BMW typical progress is achieved through further advanced BMW TwinPower Turbo technology and additionally with the aid of a particularly powerful starter generator and an additional battery. The dynamic power delivery when starting off and accelerating is enhanced by the additional power of 8 kW/11 hp spontaneously provided by the 48-volt starter generator. In other load ranges the electric drive can relieve the combustion engine and thus increase its efficiency. The power required for this is generated by intensive recuperation in braking and thrust phases and stored in a 48-volt battery, which also supplies the vehicle’s electrical system.

The 48-volt mild hybrid technology will be used in four further BMW 3 Series models from November 2020. In the new BMW 330d Sedan (combined fuel consumption: 4.7 – 4.4 l/100 km*; combined CO₂ emissions: 125 – 116 g/km*) and the new BMW 330d Xdrive Sedan (combined fuel consumption: 5.0 – 4.7 l/100 km*; combined CO₂ emissions: 132 – 123 g/km*) and the new BMW 330d Touring (combined fuel consumption: 4.8 – 4.5 l/100 km*; combined CO₂ emissions: 128 – 119 g/km*) and the new BMW 330d Xdrive Touring (combined fuel consumption: 5.2 – 4.8 l/100 km*; combined CO₂ emissions: 136 – 127 g/km), it supports the new inline 6-cylinder diesel engine, which already provides additional driving pleasure with its maximum output increased by 15 kW/21 hp to 210 kW/286 hp. Thanks to a two-stage turbocharging system and an advanced common rail injection system whose piezo injectors now inject the fuel with up to ten injections per working cycle and a maximum pressure of 2 700 bar into the combustion chambers, engine response and efficiency of the 3.0 litre engine are optimised. The new diesel engine generates its maximum torque, which has been increased by 30 to 650 Nm, between 1 500 and 2 500 rpm. The increased power of the combustion engine and the additional electrical power noticeably improve the car’s sprint capacity. For example, the new BMW 330d Sedan improves its acceleration from zero to 100 km/h by 0.2 seconds to now 5.3 seconds.

In the BMW 8 Series, 48-volt mild hybrid technology is combined with an equally new and even more powerful 3.0-litre diesel engine. The BMW 840d xDrive Coupé models (fuel consumption combined: 5.8 – 5.6 l/100 km*; combined CO₂ emissions: 154 - 146 g/km), BMW 840d xDrive Convertible (fuel consumption combined: 6.0 – 5.7 l/100 km*; combined CO₂ emissions: 159 – 151 g/km) and BMW 840d xDrive Gran Coupé (combined fuel consumption: 5.9 – 5.6 l/100 km*; combined CO₂ emissions: 155 - 148 g/km) will be powered by a 250 kW/340 hp inline 6-cylinder engine in the future. The 15 kW/20 hp increase in top-level output also results from further advanced BMW TwinPower Turbo technology. It now includes a multi-stage turbocharger with variable turbine geometry for the high-pressure and low-pressure stages. The maximum torque of 700 Nm is generated alreadybetween 1 750 and 2 250 rpm. In the luxury sports car model range, the new drive technology enables the BMW 840d xDrive Coupé, for example, to improve its acceleration figure from a standing start to 100 km/h by 0.1 seconds to 4.8 seconds. The optimised performance characteristics of the diesel engine are accompanied by precisely adapted fine tuning of the chassis and its control systems.

The new diesel engines for the BMW 3 Series and the BMW 8 Series also represent the latest state of the art with regard to emissions. They feature exhaust gas treatment technology, whose engine-proximate components consist of a diesel oxidation catalytic converter and an SCR coating on the diesel particulate filter. In order to optimally reduce nitrogen oxide (NOX) emissions, a second metering unit is additionally integrated at the outlet of the engine-proximate SCR system.

BMW 1 Series, BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé: Additional engines and new optional extras.
New engines will be available from November 2020 for the BMW 1 Series and the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé. The new BMW 116i (combined fuel consumption: 5.8 – 5.4 l/100 km*; combined CO₂ emissions: 133 – 124 g/km) is powered by a 3-cylinder petrol engine with an output of 80 kW/109 hp and a maximum torque of 190 Nm. It is equipped as standard with a manual 6-speed transmission and accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 10.6 seconds. A 7-speed Steptronic transmission with double clutch is optionally available. In addition, the model range will be expanded to include the new BMW 120i (fuel consumption combined: 5.8 – 5.5 l/100 km*; combined CO₂ emissions: 134 – 126 g/km). Its 4-cylinder petrol engine generates a maximum output of 131 kW/178 hp and a maximum torque of 280 Nm and is combined as standard with a 7-speed Steptronic transmission with double clutch. The new BMW 120i accelerates from a standing start to 100 km/h in 7.0 seconds.

Outstanding economy is the hallmark of the new entry-level diesel engine for the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé. The 3-cylinder diesel engine of the new BMW 216d Gran Coupé (fuel consumption combined: 4.1 – 3.8 l/100 km*; combined CO₂ emissions: 108 – 99 g/km) provides a maximum output of 85 kW/116 hp and a maximum torque of 270 Nm. It transmits its power to a 7-speed Steptronic transmission with double clutch as standard and enables acceleration from zero to 100 km/h in 10.3 seconds.

The range of optional equipment for the BMW 1 Series and the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé is supplemented by the BMW Individual Shadow Line lights. With the black inserts at the upper edge of the headlamps they make the front view even more powerfully expressive.

Urban Cruise Control: Increased comfort and optimised safety when driving in urban traffic.
The increased level of comfort and safety achieved through combined speed and distance control will also be available in numerous current BMW models when driving in city traffic from autumn 2020 onwards. In conjunction with the optional Driving Assistant Professional, the Urban Cruise Control function is available in the BMW 3 Series and BMW 5 Series, the BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo, the BMW 8 Series and the BMW X5, BMW X6, BMW X7, BMW M5, BMW M8, BMW X5 M and BMW X6 M model series. It extends the range of functions of the Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go function by a traffic light recognition function. In addition to vehicles and traffic signs ahead, traffic lights registered by the stereo camera are also taken into account.

In the case of traffic light signals that are clearly related to the lane you are travelling, these are automatically registered by the speed and distance control system. If the traffic light is red, the system decelerates the vehicle to a standstill. A green light signals the continuation of the journey. In a more complex intersection situation where, for example, different light signals apply to different lanes, a traffic light symbol is displayed in the instrument cluster. The driver can then confirm the light signal shown there and continue to use the automatic speed and distance control or control the speed himself. For additional comfort in city traffic there is a drive reminder function. While stationary at a traffic light, the current traffic light phase is displayed in the instrument cluster; at the beginning of the green phase, the driver also receives a signal to start driving.

The Urban Cruise Control function can also be integrated into the car at a later date by means of a Remote Software Upgrade. With the exception of the BMW 8 Series models, this option is available for vehicles of all the above-mentioned series produced from July 2020 onwards and which are equipped with the Driving Assistant Professional.

New digital services for more driving pleasure: BMW News, BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant with new functions, personal profile picture and simple log-in.
The latest generation of the display and control system makes it possible to use new digital services in numerous current BMW models. The BMW Operating System 7, which is available in conjunction with BMW Live Cockpit, BMW Live Cockpit Plus or BMW Live Cockpit Professional, allows the driver to customise what is displayed to a very high degree. From November 2020, audio content will also be tailored to the driver’s wishes and needs with BMW News. Based on the driver’s individual interests, current online news is selected from publisher offerings and broadcast in the form of naturally spoken language via the vehicle's audio system.

The BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant is one of the particularly innovative services that features in current models with BMW Operating System 7. The digital companion, which enables intuitive operation of numerous vehicle functions via voice control (“Hey, BMW”), is constantly gaining new capabilities. From autumn 2020, the operating modes MAX eDrive and AUTO eDrive or ELECTRIC and HYBRID can also be activated in the appropriately equipped plug-in hybrid models by means of a naturally spoken instruction.

Optimised options for creating a driver profile allow further customisation opportunities. From November 2020, the driver can no longer only login by entering the BMW ID manually, but also via the My BMW App as well, making the process very convenient. A QR code generated for this purpose can be displayed on the Control Display, which can be scanned using a smartphone. The personal driver profile data can then be transferred to the vehicle. Also new: The driver can add a photo of his choice to his individual profile.

BMW X1 and BMW X2: New headlamp variants and BMW Individual High Gloss Shadow Line with extended features.
Adaptive LED headlights will be available for the compact BMW X2 Sports Activity Coupé from November 2020. They optimise visibility when driving at night, among other things by means of a high beam matrix function. This feature is able to increase the range of vision while at the same time avoiding any dazzle effect on other road users. To achieve this, the high beam is divided into several LED segments that can be activated and deactivated independently of each other to adapt how the road is illuminated to the respective traffic situation.

In addition, the striking BMW Individual Shadow Line lights are available as a new option for the BMW X2 and the BMW X1. The sporty appearance of the BMW X2 can be further enhanced by the BMW Individual High Gloss Shadow Line with extended features. In addition to the high-gloss black side window surrounds, this option includes a black frame for the BMW kidney grille and tailpipe trims in chrome black.

New paint finishes allow for expressive individualisation.
New additions to the range of paint finishes for numerous models will be introduced in autumn 2020 allowing for even greater levels of individualisation. The new San Remo Green metallic paint finish will also be available for the new BMW 4 Series Coupé in future. For the BMW X5, BMW X6 and BMW X7, the colours Dravit Grey metallic and Sparkling Brown metallic have been added to the range. In addition, the BMW Individual special paintwork finishes Grigio Telesto metallic, Urban Green metallic, Frozen Black metallic, Petrol Mica metallic, Ruby Red metallic, Avus Blue metallic and British Racing Green metallic are also available for the large BMW X models. 

For the BMW i3 (combined fuel consumption: 0.0 l/100 km; combined power consumption: 13.1 kWh/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 0 g/km) and BMW i3s (combined fuel consumption: 0.0 l/100 km; combined power consumption: 14.6 – 14.0 kWh/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 0 g/km) new paint finishes will also be available from November 2020. The purely electrically driven models will be available with paint finishes in Cashmere Silver with accents in BMW i Blue and Galvanic Gold with accents in Frozen Grey metallic and Fluid Black with accents in Frozen Grey metallic.

With the introduction of 48-volt mild hybrid technology in additional model series from summer 2020, BMW continues to consistently reduce fuel consumption and emissions in its current vehicle fleet. From July and August 2020, both efficiency and dynamic performance will be optimised in 51 models with the use of a particularly powerful starter generator and an additional battery. This also applies to the new in-line 6-cylinder diesel engines in the BMW 7 Series and in the BMW X3, BMW X4, BMW X5, BMW X6 and BMW X7. Two additional engine variants are available for the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé from July 2020 onwards. In numerous plug-in hybrid models, the new BMW eDrive Zone function will ensure an automatic switch to purely electric operating mode when entering inner city areas such as low emission zones.

The extension of the range of standard and optional equipment features in the areas of driver assistance systems, operation and networking contributes to an increase in driving pleasure. A new display and control system will be part of the standard trim in the new BMW 3 Series from July 2020. Among other things, BMW Operating System 7 enables use of the optional BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant. Furthermore, in the BMW 3 Series and other model series the range of functions of the optional Driving Assistant Professional is supplemented by Active Navigation Guidance and the Emergency Lane Assistant.

Increased dynamic performance and reduced fuel consumption: 48-volt mild hybrid technology now in 51 BMW models.
From summer 2020 onwards, mild hybrid technology will be used in numerous additional BMW models to provide support and relief for the combustion engine. It consists of a 48-volt starter generator that enables particularly intensive braking energy recuperation along with an additional battery to store the electricity that is generated in this way. The 48-volt battery not only supplies the electrically operated vehicle functions, it also makes its energy available to generate additional drive power. For this purpose the current flows back to the starter generator, which now takes on the role of an electric drive. This reduces the load on the combustion engine, allowing it to run as often as possible in an efficiency-optimised load range. What is more, the generator creates an electric boost during acceleration. This instantly available additional output of 8 kW/11 hp supports dynamic power delivery during start and acceleration.

The 48-volt mild hybrid technology was first introduced in selected model variants of the BMW 5 Series in autumn 2019. This was followed by the BMW 3 Series models and several BMW X models. From July and August 2020, it will be available as standard in 37 further model variants of the BMW 3 Series, BMW 5 Series, BMW 6 Series and BMW 7 Series as well as the BMW X3, BMW X4, BMW X5, BMW X6 and BMW X7. All in all it will ensure efficiency and dynamic performance in 51 current BMW models.

More power, less emissions: the new in-line 6-cylinder diesel engines with optimised BMW TwinPower Turbo Technology.
A new generation of in-line 6-cylinder engines will make its debut in numerous BMW model series in summer 2020. These highly efficient aluminium power units, each with a capacity of 3.0 litres, combine their extensively further developed BMW TwinPower Turbo Technology with the new 48-volt mild hybrid system, thereby achieving particularly significant progress within the context of BMW EfficientDynamics. In addition to optimised turbocharging systems, the latest version of common rail direct injection with piezo injectors ensures that both performance and efficiency are significantly increased in the new diesel engines. The injectors now transport fuel to the combustion chambers in up to ten injections per cycle and at a maximum pressure of 2,700 bar.

With maximum output increased by 15 kW/21 hp to 210 kW/286 hp, the new diesel engine for the models BMW 730d (combined fuel consumption: 4.9 – 4.7 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 128 – 123 g/km) and BMW 730d xDrive (combined fuel consumption: 5.2 – 5.0 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 138 – 133 g/km), BMW 730Ld (combined fuel consumption: 5.0 – 4.8 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 130 – 126 g/km), BMW 730Ld xDrive (combined fuel consumption: 5.3 – 5.1 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 139 – 133 g/km), BMW X3 xDrive30d (combined fuel consumption: 5.6 – 5.2 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 147 – 137 g/km), BMW X4 xDrive30d (combined fuel consumption: 5.6 – 5.1 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 146 – 136 g/km), BMW X5 xDrive30d (combined fuel consumption: 6.2 – 5.7 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 164 – 150 g/km) und BMW X6 xDrive30d (combined fuel consumption: 6.2 – 5.7 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 162 – 149 g/km) demonstrates a perceptibly enhanced temperament. Its particularly spontaneous power delivery is due to the multi-stage turbocharging used for the first time in this version of the in-line 6-cylinder diesel engine, along with variable turbine geometry for the low-pressure stage of the system. Increased by 30 to 650 Nm, the maximum torque of the new drive unit goes on stream at between 1,500 and 2,500 rpm – a power boost that especially results in enhanced sprint capacity. For example, the BMW 730d and the BMW 730d xDrive have improved their acceleration from zero to 100 km/h by 0.2 seconds each to 5.9 and 5.6 seconds respectively.

The new diesel engine now also used in the BMW 740d xDrive models BMW 740d xDrive (combined fuel consumption: 5.4 – 5.2 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 142 – 136 g/km), BMW 740Ld xDrive (combined fuel consumption: 5.4 – 5.2 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 143 – 137 g/km), BMW X3 M40d (combined fuel consumption: 6.0 – 5.6 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 157 – 148 g/km), BMW X4 M40d (combined fuel consumption: 5.9 – 5.6 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 156 – 147 g/km) und BMW X7 xDrive40d (combined fuel consumption: 6.6 – 6.4 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 173 – 167 g/km) generates even greater pulling power. Its multi-stage turbocharging system comprises a high-pressure and a low-pressure turbocharger with variable turbine geometry. As a result, a maximum torque of 700 Nm is delivered between 1,750 and 2,250 rpm. The engine reaches its peak output of 250 kW/340 hp at 4 400 rpm. In the BMW 740d xDrive, for example, this increased power helps achieve a sprint from standstill to 100 km/h that is also improved by 0.2 seconds to 5.0 seconds.

The two new engines are feature exhaust gas treatment technology with engine-related components consisting of a diesel oxidation catalytic converter and an SCR coating on the diesel particulate filter. For optimum reduction of nitrogen oxide (NO_X) emissions, a second dosage unit is additionally integrated at the outlet of the engine-related SCR system. As a result, the models powered by the new in-line 6-cylinder diesel engines meet the Euro 6d emissions standard.

Expansion of the model range for the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé.
The BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé model range will be extended from July 2020 with the addition of two new engine variants. A new entry-level diesel engine and an additional all-wheel drive model variant are available for the sporty, elegant four-door model in the premium compact segment. The new BMW 218d Gran Coupé (combined fuel consumption: 4.5 – 4.2 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 118 – 109 g/km) is powered by the latest version of a 4-cylinder diesel engine. The BMW TwinPower Turbo Technology in the 2.0-litre power unit now includes a two-stage turbocharging system as well as a likewise further developed common rail direct injection featuring solenoid valve injectors. The new engine delivers its maximum torque of 350 Nm between 1,750 and 2,500 rpm, reaching a maximum output of 110 kW/150 hp at 4,000 rpm. The new BMW 218d Gran Coupé accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 8.6 seconds with the standard 6-speed manual transmission and in 8.5 seconds with the optional 8-speed Steptronic transmission.

The second diesel engine available for the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé delivers a maximum output of 140 kW/190 hp and a maximum torque of 400 Nm. In the new BMW 220d xDrive Gran Coupé (combined fuel consumption: 4.9 – 4.5 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 129 – 119 g/km) it is now combined with intelligent all-wheel drive and an 8-speed Steptronic transmission. This enables the new model variant to accelerate from standstill to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds. Thanks to state-of-the-art exhaust gas treatment including SCR catalytic converter with AdBlue injection, both new models meet the Euro 6d emissions standard.

Green light for BMW eDrive Zone: locally emissions-free travel in the city on an automated basis.
Innovative technology from the fields of electrification and digitalisation is combined in the new BMW eDrive Zone function available in the premium car manufacturer’s plug-in hybrid models. This globally unique digital service offers additional options for making optimum use of the capabilities of emissions-free driving. The BMW eDrive Zone function triggers an automatic switch to purely electric operating mode as soon as the vehicle enters selected urban areas such as low-emission zones.

BMW eDrive Zone will be a standard feature of all plug-in hybrid models of the BMW 3 Series, BMW 5 Series and BMW 7 Series as well as the BMW X5. The digital service uses geo-fencing technology via GPS to identify designated areas. eDrive zones of this kind are currently designated in some 80 cities throughout Europe. When the service is activated, each available eDrive Zone on the navigation map is graphically highlighted in the Control Display: a message appears to inform the driver that the vehicle will automatically switch to electric driving mode as soon as it enters an eDrive Zone.

From summer 2020, the above-mentioned plug-in hybrid models will also be fitted with an integrated drive-ready sound for electric power as standard. This means that both starting and stopping the electric drive will be accompanied by a distinctive acoustic signal. In addition there has been an expansion of the range of preconditioning functions, which is also a standard feature. Depending on the equipment fitted, more functions will be available that can be activated remotely by smartphone, in addition to interior cooling and heating. In future it will also be possible to activate the seat climate control before the start of a journey, for example. In the same way it will be possible to include the seat, steering wheel, exterior mirror and rear window heating systems in the preconditioning for heating the interior, as well as heating of the cameras for the driver assistance systems.

BMW 3 Series Sedan and BMW 3 Series Touring now fitted with BMW Operating System 7 as standard.
In the new BMW 3 Series, the latest generation of the display and control system will be a standard feature as of summer 2020. Previously only used in conjunction with BMW Live Cockpit Professional, BMW Operating System 7 offers extensive individualisation and personalisation of the content shown on the Control Display. The standard BMW Live Cockpit now also includes a redesigned instrument cluster with a 5.1-inch digital display at its centre. BMW Live Cockpit Plus, like BMW Live Cockpit Professional, also includes the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant. This digital companion enables intuitive operation of numerous vehicle functions via voice control (“Hey, BMW”). In the BMW 1 Series and BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé, BMW Operating System 7 will also be part of the optional BMW Live Cockpit Plus from July 2020.

The M sports seats are new to the range of optional extras for the new BMW 3 Series Sedan and the new BMW 3 Series Touring. They feature excellent lateral support, a wide range of adjustment options and headrests with embossed M logo. The M sports seats for driver and front passenger are available in conjunction with the Model M Sport equipment line as well as for the BMW M automobiles of the new BMW 3 Series. The choice of exterior colours for the new BMW 3 Series is supplemented by the variant Phytonic Blue metallic.

Increased comfort and safety: Driving Assistant Professional with additional functions.
The optional Driving Assistant Professional is a particularly comprehensive collection of driver assistance systems designed to optimise comfort and safety: it is being used by BMW to pave the way to automated driving in numerous current models. The focus is on the steering and lane guidance assistant, which will be enhanced with additional functions from summer 2020 in the BMW 3 Series, BMW 5 Series, BMW 6 Series and BMW 8 Series, in the BMW X5, BMW X6 and BMW X7, and in all variants of the BMW M5 and BMW M8.

The new Active Navigation Guidance indicates lane changes that are necessary in order to continue driving along the selected route when destination guidance is active. The driver can then carry out this operation conveniently with the aid of the lane change assistant. In addition, Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go function will in future include an adaptive distance control that adapts to the respective traffic situation and environmental conditions.

Further progress is also being made in the intelligent control of the Speed Limit Info system with No Passing Indicator. In all model variants of the BMW 1 Series, BMW 3 Series, BMW 5 Series, BMW 6 Series, BMW 7 Series and BMW 8 Series, the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé, the BMW Z4, the BMW X5, the BMW X6 and the BMW X7 as well as the BMW M5, the BMW M8, the BMW X5 M and the BMW X6 M, road sign detection will in future additionally take into account speed limits that are restricted in time and only apply on certain days of the week. On days other, the speed limit derived from the navigation data is displayed.

BMW 7 Series and BMW 8 Series with optimised Integral Active Steering.
Sporty flair and ride comfort in the BMW 7 Series luxury sedans and the luxury sports cars of the BMW 8 Series benefit from Integral Active Steering. The optional suspension system combines a variable rack and pinion ratio on the front axle with selective co-steering of the rear wheels. Even at particularly low speeds of less than 3 km/h, the rear wheels are now countersteered. This gives the models of the BMW 7 Series and BMW 8 Series additional manoeuvrability when moving slowly in and out of parking spaces or passing through narrow gaps.

In addition, the BMW 7 Series will be available from July 2020 in the new exterior paint finish Phytonic Blue metallic and the BMW Individual paint finish Frozen Bluestone metallic. A fresh touch of luxury ambience is added to the interior with the BMW Individual leather steering wheel as well as the new version of the BMW Individual Merino full leather trim in the colour combination Smoke White/Night Blue/Black.

New body finishes for the BMW i3 and numerous other models
Another new addition to the range is the body finish in Cashmere Silver metallic, which is also available for the BMW X1. The BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer will also offered in Phytonic Blue metallic and Misano Blue metallic in future.

New body finishes are available for numerous other models, too. Phytonic Blue metallic and Sunset Orange metallic versions of the BMW 1 Series and the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé will be on offer from July 2020. The body finish Phytonic Blue metallic will also be available for the BMW X5, BMW X6 and BMW X7 as of August 2020. What is more, the BMW X5 and BMW X6 can be fitted with the new Carbon Fibre interior trim finishers and M Carbon exterior mirror caps in conjunction with the M sports package.

The purely electrically powered models BMW i3 (combined fuel consumption: 0.0 l/100 km; combined power consumption: 13.1 kWh/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 0 g/km) and BMW i3s (combined fuel consumption: 0.0 l/100 km; combined power consumption: 14.6 – 14.0 kWh/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 0 g/km) will be available from summer 2020 in the new body finish Blue Ridge Mountain with accentuations in Frozen Grey metallic.

Meanwhile new BMW Individual body finishes are available for the model variants of the high-performance sports car BMW M8. For the BMW M8 Series Coupé (combined fuel consumption: 10.6 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 242 g/km*) and the BMW M8 Convertible (combined fuel consumption: 10.8 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 246 g/km), the Ametrin metallic variant is now newly available. For both models and for the BMW M8 Gran Coupé (combined fuel consumption: 10.7 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 244 g/km), the versions Bluestone metallic, Frozen Brands Hatch Grey metallic and Frozen Motegi Red metallic are likewise available.

CO2 EMISSIONS & CONSUMPTION.

Munich. From the spring of 2020, BMW will contribute towards a further reduction of consumption levels and the optimisation of the emission performance of current models through the use of systematically evolved drive technology. In parallel with the expansion of the range of models featuring all-electric and plug-in hybrid drive scheduled to follow during the course of the year, both the efficiency and the exhaust emission quality of petrol-driven vehicles will be significantly increased.  This is ensured, inter alia, by innovative mild hybrid technology which, following the BMW 5 Series, will as from March/April also be deployed in the BMW 3 Series as well as the model series BMW X3 and BMW X4. At the same time, in the spring of 2020, 33 further BMW models will already comply with the Euro 6d emission standard, which will not become obligatory until 2021. 

A further drive variant for the BMW 1 Series as well as additional engines for the BMW 3 Series Sedan and the BMW 3 Series Touring will enhance the diversity of available options in the premium compact and premium midrange segment. Additional options for interior design provide for greater individuality in the BMW X5, the BMW X6 and the BMW X7.

Electric pulling power for efficiency and dynamics: Mild hybrid technology with 48-volt starter generator for further models.  

BMW is extending the use of mild hybrid technology to further models. This innovation, first introduced in the autumn of 2019 forthe four model variants of the BMW 520d (combined fuel consumption: 4.9 – 4.1 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 128 – 108 g/km), comprises an extremely powerful 48-volt starter generator as well as an additional battery, and enhances both efficiency and dynamics of vehicles equipped with this technology. As from the spring of 2020, mild hybrid technology will also be featured as standard in the models BMW 320d Sedan (automatic transmission) (combined fuel consumption: 4.1 – 4.0 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 107 – 105 g/km), the BMW 320d Touring (combined fuel consumption: 4.3 – 4.2 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 112 – 109 g/km), the BMW 320d xDrive Sedan (combined fuel consumption: 4.4 – 4.3 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 117 – 114 g/km), the BMW 320d xDrive Touring (combined fuel consumption: 4.5 – 4.5 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 119 – 117 g/km), the BMW X3 xDrive20d (combined fuel consumption: 5.1 – 4.8 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 134 – 126 g/km) and the BMW X4 xDrive20d (combined fuel consumption: 5.1 – 4.8 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 133 – 125 g/km).

Mild hybrid technology provides significantly greater possibilities to make use of brake energy recuperation. The energy recuperated when accelerating and braking is not only used to provide electrically powered vehicle functions with energy but also to generate additional drive power. The 48-volt starter generator delivers an additional power output of up to 8 kW/11 hp. The electric over-boost is made available very spontaneously, thus enhancing dynamics when starting off and accelerating from a standstill.  During the journey, the electric over-boost can be used to support the combustion engine, enabling it to run as frequently as possible within an efficiency-optimised load range and to reduce consumption peaks. Moreover, when driving within inefficient operational ranges, it is possible to supply the 48-volt battery with additional energy from the starter generator by raising the load point when required.  

Furthermore, the 48-volt starter generator provides for exceptionally smooth switching off as well as a faster and thus more comfortable re-starting of the combustion engine when the Auto Start Stop function is used at road junctions or in traffic jams. When the vehicle decelerates, the combustion engine can be disconnected at a speed of less than 15 km/h. The kinetic energy gained when decelerating further to a standstill is then used for recuperation. The efficiencyenhancing effect of the “coasting” function has also been optimised. At a speed of up to 160 km/h, the combustion engine is no longer switched into idle mode but is completely disconnected. During the journey, engine re-start is also fast and comfortable. The optimised “coasting” function is available both in the COMFORT and ECOPRO modes of the Driving Experience Switch.

Optimised emission performance: 40 BMW models now already fulfil the future Euro 6d emission standard.

With yet a further optimisation of the emission performance of numerous models, BMW is preparing well in advance for future legal requirements governing exhaust emissions. As from the spring of 2020, 33 further models from various model series will fulfil the Euro 6d exhaust emission standard. Consequently, 40 BMW models comply with the demands specified by the more stringent standard a year prior to the new emission regulation coming into force. 

The vehicles that will already comply with the Euro 6d emission standard as from the spring of 2020 include model variants of the BMW 1 Series, BMW 2 Series and BMW 3 Series as well as the BMW X1, BMW X2, BMW X3, BMW X4, BMW X5 and the BMW X6.

New drive variants for the BMW 1 Series, the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe, the BMW 3 Series Sedan and the BMW 3 Series Touring. Starting in March 2020, additional drive variants will increase the diversity of the BMW 1 Series and BMW 3 Series model range. The BMW 120d (combined fuel consumption: 4.6 – 4.3 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 121 – 112 g/km) will be added to the model range in the premium compact segment. The power generated by the car’s 2-litre, 140 kW/190 hp four-cylinder diesel power unit featuring BMW TwinPower Turbo Technology is transferred to the front wheels via a standard 8-speed Steptronic transmission, allowing the new BMW 120d to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds and to reach a top speed of 231 km/h. The new BMW 120d is one of the models that already fulfil the Euro 6d emission standard. 

The engines of the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe will be expanded with a 216d diesel engine.

A new four-cylinder petrol engine with a displacement of 2 litres and BMW TwinPower Turbo Technology complements the drive portfolio for the new BMW 3 Series. Next to to that an 316d diesel engine will be added for the BMW 3 Series Sedan. The power unit for the new BMW 318i Sedan (combined fuel consumption: 5.7 – 5.3 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 130 – 120 g/km) and the new BMW 318i Touring (combined fuel consumption: 6.2 – 5.7 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 140 – 130 g/km) delivers a maximum power output of 115 kW/156 hp and a peak torque of 250 Nm. The standard equipment range for the new BMW 3 Series entry model includes an 8-speed Steptronic transmission. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/ is 8.4 seconds for the Sedan and 8.7 seconds for the Touring model. Top speed is 223 km/h (BMW 318i Sedan) and 220 km/h (BMW 318i Touring) respectively.

BMW 7 Series and BMW 8 Series with extended standard configuration, additional offer of leather options and interior trims for the BMW X5, the BMW X6 and the BMW X7.

From March 2020, a broader range of standard features will enhance comfort in the luxury-class models of the BMW 7 Series and the BMW 8 Series. In future, BMW 7 Series luxury sedans, BMW 8 Series luxury sports cars as well as the high-performance models BMW M8 Competition Coupe (combined fuel consumption: 10.6 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 242 g/km), BMW M8 Competition Convertible (combined fuel consumption: 10.8 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 246 g/km) and BMW M8 Competition Gran Coupe (combined fuel consumption: 10.7 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 244 g/km) will be equipped with an automatic soft-close function for the doors.

Thanks to a wider selection of leather options and interior trims, there are now new possibilities to individualise the models BMW X5, BMW X6 and BMW X7. As from April, the leather trim perforated Vernasca in the colour combination Canberra Beige/Black is additionally available for these three models. In future, the BMW X6 can be ordered with the leather trim perforated Vernasca in the colour Cognac/Black. Likewise available for the Sports Activity Coupe are the extended BMW Individual leather options Merino in the colour combinations Tartufo/Black, Ivory White/Black and Ivory White/Night Blue/Black as well as the BMW Individual all-leather interior trim Merino in the colour combinations Coffee/Black and Tartufo/Black. Also new in the range of options for the BMW X6: High-grade Poplar Grain, Anthracite-Brown, open-pored.

Fuel consumption, CO2 emission figures and power consumption were measured using the methods required according to Regulation (EC) 2007/715 as amended. The figures are calculated using a vehicle fitted with basic equipment in Germany, the ranges stated take into account differences in selected wheel and tyre sizes as well as the optional equipment. They may change during configuration.

The figures have already been calculated based on the new WLTP test cycle and adapted to NEDC for comparison purposes. In these vehicles, different figures than those published here may apply for the assessment of taxes and other vehicle-related duties which are (also) based on CO2 emissions.

In the new BMW X1 xDrive25e and the new BMW X2 xDrive25e, the intelligently controlled interaction between a fuel combustion engine and an electric motor as well as locally emissions-free travel can be experienced in the Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) and Sports Activity Coupe (SAC) premium segment starting in 2020. A highly efficient electric drive and a latest-generation lithium-ion battery enable an electrically powered range of up to 57 kilometres* in the two new plug-in hybrid models. With an average fuel consumption of 2.1 to 1.9 litres per 100 kilometres* and CO2 emissions between 48 and 43 grams per kilometre* for the BMW X1 xDrive25e and 2.1 to 1.9 litres per 100 kilometres* and between 47 and 43 grams per kilometre* for the BMW X2 xDrive25e, both models set a benchmark within their competitive fields. Combined power consumption of the BMW X1 xDrive25e is 14.3 to 13.8 kWh per 100 kilometres*, the corresponding values of the BMW X2 xDrive25e are 14.2 to 13.7 kWh per 100 kilometres*. The hybrid specific all-wheel drive with its fast and precise distribution of power between the front and rear wheels delivers a high level of driving pleasure and thrilling agility.

The two plug-in models are an extension to the wide range of BMW models in the premium compact segment of SAV and SAC vehicles. In addition to numerous variants featuring extremely efficient petrol and diesel engines, models with electrified drive will be on offer for the first time. Thus, the portfolio will include in addition to economical entry models with a 3-cylinder combustion engine also the new plug-in hybrid models and the BMW X2 M35i (combined fuel consumption: 7.1 – 6.8 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 163 – 154 g/km*), the extremely athletic top model with a maximum output of 225 kW/306 hp. With the extension of its range in the premium compact segment the BMW Group’s model offensive is gaining further momentum in the area of plug-in hybrid models. The current selection comprises the MINI Cooper SE Countryman (combined fuel consumption: 2.1 – 1.9 l/100 km; combined power consumption: 13.9 – 13.5 kWh/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 47 – 43 g/km*), the BMW 225xe Active Tourer (combined fuel consumption: 1.9 l/100 km; combined power consumption: 13.5 kWh/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 42 g/km*), BMW 3 Series and BMW 5 Series models and plug-in hybrid luxury sedans of the BMW 7 Series. In future, four BMW X models with plug-in hybrid drive will also be available. As a pioneer in electric mobility BMW intends to have more than one million vehicles with electrified drive on the road by the end of 2021. By 2021, 25 percent of the vehicles sold by the BMW Group in Europe will feature an electric drive. By 2025 this figure is scheduled to reach 33 percent and 50 percent by 2030. The BMW Group plans to extend their portfolio by additional 25 electrified vehicles by 2023.

The plug-in hybrid system of the new BMW X1 xDrive 25e and the new BMW X2 xDrive25e consists of a 1.5 litre 3-cylinder petrol engine with BMW TwinPower Turbo Technology and an electric drive specially developed for this model. It is taken from the eDrive technology modular system of the BMW Group. The petrol engine mobilises a peak output of 92 kW/125 hp and a maximum torque of 220 Newton metres. It transfers its power to a 6-speed Steptronic transmission and drives the front wheels. The electric motor generates an output of 70 kW/95 hp and delivers 165 Nm of torque to the rear wheels via a single-speed transmission. This makes for a hybrid specific all-wheel drive, which gives both models a unique level of agility in their competitive fields delivering hallmark SAV and SAC driving pleasure. The highly responsive power delivery of the electric motor, which delivers its full torque spontaneously from standstill, enables the driver to react extremely quickly to changing driving conditions. In addition, the position of the electric motor above the rear axle contributes to the harmoniously balanced axle load distribution of the new BMW X1 xDrive25e and the new BMW X2 xDrive25e. In conjunction with the intelligently controlled interaction between the two power units, it provides maximum driving stability, ride comfort and dynamic response.

Together the combustion engine and electric motor produce a system output of 162 kW/220 hp. The maximum system torque of both drive units is 385 Nm. The new BMW X1 xDrive25e accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds. The new BMW X2 xDrive25e does the 0 to 100 km/h sprint in 6.8 seconds. In addition, the electric boost provided by the drive system ensures additional safety reserves and intense sporty flair when overtaking on country roads, for example. The top speed of the new BMW X1 xDrive25e is 193 km/h. Maximum speed of the new BMW X2 xDrive25e is 195 km/h.

With the very latest high-voltage battery cell technology, the new BMW X1 xDrive25e and the new BMW X2 xDrive25e possess generous reserves of electrical energy enabling the driver to conduct the main share of everyday travel locally emissions-free with the electric motor alone. The latest-generation lithium-ion battery has a gross energy content of 10 kWh. This allows for an electrically powered range of between 54 and 57 kilometres* in the BMW X1 xDrive25e (between 55 and 57 kilometres* in the new BMW X2 xDrive25e). The high-voltage battery can be charged at conventional household sockets using the standard-equipment charging cable. An empty battery can be fully charged in around five hours in this way. It only takes 3.8 hours for the battery to reach 80 percent of its total capacity. Using a BMW i Wallbox, the relevant charging operation from 0 to 100 percent takes less than 3.2 hours. 80 percent of total capacity is already reached after 2.4 hours. The charging socket is located under a separate flap on the front left side wall of the car.

The driver can use the eDrive button on the centre console to influence the drive system’s operating mode. In the AUTO eDRIVE standard setting, the intelligent drive system ensures optimum interaction between the two power units in all driving situations. Navigation data is also used to manage the plug-in hybrid system to increase both efficiency as well as driving pleasure. When navigation guidance is activated, the anticipatory energy management can also take into account the route profile for controlling the drive system. The MAX eDrive mode can be activated for maximum use of the electric drive. In this mode, the new BMW X1 xDrive25e and the new BMW X2 xDrive25e reach a top speed of 135 km/h. In addition there is also the SAVE BATTERY mode. It enables the driver to maintain the charging state of the high-voltage battery while driving or to increase it by means of recuperation. In this way battery capacity can be saved for later use when driving in purely electric mode in the city for example. The driving experience switch can be used independent of the drive mode. In the new BMW X1 xDrive25e and the new BMW X2 xDrive25e, the driver can use this to activate the COMFORT, SPORT and ECO PRO modes in order to influence the drive and suspension functions as well as to operate the electrically powered comfort systems.

Due to a long electric range and low CO2 emissions, the new BMW X1 xDrive25e and the new BMW X2 xDrive25e (depending on equipment) meet the criteria which have been stipulated for the classification as an electric vehicle in Germany and the associated preferential treatment in public road traffic. In addition, it also qualifies for reduced company car taxation in Germany. Only half the gross list price is used as a basis when calculating the monetary benefit from private use of the company car.

The new BMW X1 xDrive25e and the new BMW X2 xDrive25e feature acoustic pedestrian protection as standard. When driving electrically at speeds of up to 30 km/h, an unmistakable sound designed specifically for electrified BMW models is generated to alert other road users to the approaching car without impairing the acoustic comfort of the vehicle occupants. In addition, the standard equipment of the two compact BMW X models with plug-in hybrid drive also includes 17-inch light alloy wheels, 2-zone automatic air conditioning as well as auxiliary air conditioning. The interior can be pre-conditioned remotely via BMW Connected using a smartphone. As an alternative to the basic version, the new BMW X1 xDrive25e is available as a Sport Line, xLine and M Sport model. For the new BMW X2 xDrive25e customers can choose from the following models: Advantage, Advantage Plus, M Sport and M Sport X. In addition to the respective equipment packages, virtually all options of the conventionally powered BMW X1 or BMW X2 are available for the plug-in hybrid models.

The positioning of the high-voltage battery underneath the rear seats not only leads to a very low centre of gravity, which optimises the agility of the BMW X1 xDrive25 and the new BMW X2 xDrive25e, but also to a slightly reduced transport capacity compared to the conventionally powered compact model variants. The luggage compartment volume is fully available in primary use. In the new BMW X1 xDrive25e luggage compartment capacity is 450 litres. With a standard split of 40: 20: 40, the folding backrests enable this to be increased to 1,470 litres. A trailer tow hitch with detachable ballhead is optionally available for the new BMW X1 xDrive25e. The maximum trailer load is 750 kilograms.

The plug-in hybrid system of the new BMW X1 xDrive 25e consists of a 1.5 litre 3-cylinder petrol engine with BMW TwinPower Turbo Technology and an electric drive specially developed for this model. It  is taken from the eDrive technology modular system of the BMW Group. The petrol engines mobilises a peak output of 92 kW/125 hp and a maximum torque of 220 Newton metres. It transfers its power to a 6-speed Steptronic transmission and drives the front wheels. The electric motor generates an output of 70 kW/95 hp and delivers 165 Nm of torque to the rear wheels via a single-speed transmission. This makes for a hybrid specific all-wheel drive, which gives the BMW X1 xDrive25e a unique level of agility in its competitive field delivering hallmark SAV driving pleasure. The highly responsive power delivery of the electric motor, which delivers its full torque spontaneously from standstill enables the driver to react extremely quickly to changing driving conditions. In addition the position of the electric motor above the rear axle contributes to the harmoniously balanced axle load distribution of the new BMW X1 xDrive25e. In conjunction with the intelligently controlled interaction between the two power units, it provides maximum driving stability, ride comfort and dynamic response.

Together the combustion engine and electric motor produce a system output of 162 kW/220 hp. The maximum system torque of both drive units is 385 Nm. The new BMW X1 xDrive25e accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.0 seconds. In addition, the electric boost provided by the drive system ensures additional safety reserves and intense sporty flair when overtaking on country roads, for example. The top speed of the plug-in hybrid model is 192 km/h.

With the very latest battery cell technology the new BMW X1 xDrive25e possesses generous reserves of electrical energy enabling the driver to conduct the main share of everyday travel locally emissions-free with the electric motor alone. The latest-generation lithium-ion battery has a gross energy content of 9.7 kWh. This allows for an electrically powered range of up to 57 kilometres* in the BMW X1 xDrive25e. The high-voltage battery can be charged at conventional household sockets using the standard-equipment charging cable. The battery can be fully charged in around five hours in this way. Using a BMW i Wallbox, the relevant charging operation takes less than 3.6 hours. The charging socket is located under a separate flap on the front left side wall of the car.

The driver can use the eDrive button on the centre console to influence the drive system’s operating mode. In the AUTO eDRIVE standard setting, the intelligent drive system ensures optimum interaction between the two power units in all driving situations. Navigation data is also used to manage the plug-in hybrid system to increase both efficiency as well as driving pleasure. When navigation guidance is activated, the anticipatory energy management can also take into account the route profile for controlling the drive system. The MAX eDrive mode can be activated for maximum use of the electric drive. In this mode, the new BMW X1 xDrive25e reaches a top speed of 135 km/h. In addition there is also the SAVE BATTERY mode. It enables the driver to maintain the charging state of the high-voltage battery while driving or to increase it by means of recuperation. In this way battery capacity can be saved for later use when driving in purely electric mode in the city for example. The driving experience switch can be used independent of the drive mode. In the new BMW X1 xDrive25e, the driver can use this to activate the COMFORT, SPORT and ECO PRO modes in order to influence the drive and suspension functions as well as to operate the electrically powered comfort systems.

Due to is long electric range and its low CO₂ emissions, the new BMW X1 xDrive25e (depending on equipment) meets the criteria which have been stipulated for the classification as an electric vehicle in Germany and the associated preferential treatment in public road traffic. In addition it also qualifies for reduced company car taxation in Germany. Only half the gross list price is used as a basis when calculating the monetary benefit from private use of the company car.

The new BMW X1 xDrive25e features acoustic pedestrian protection as standard. When driving electrically at speeds of up to 30 km/h, an unmistakeable sound designed specifically for electrified BMW models is generated to alert other road users to the approaching car without impairing the acoustic comfort of the vehicle occupants. In addition the standard equipment of the compact SAV with plug-in hybrid drive also includes 17 inch light alloy wheels, 2-zone automatic air conditioning as well as auxiliary air conditioning. The interior can be pre-conditioned remotely via BMW Connected using a smartphone. As an alternative to the basic version, the new BMW X1 xDrive25e is available as a Sport Line, xLine and M Sport model. In addition to the respective equipment packages, virtually all options of the conventionally powered BMW X1 are available for the plug-in hybrid model.

The positioning of the high-voltage battery underneath the rear seats not only leads to a very low centre of gravity, which optimises the agility of the BMW X1 xDrive25, but also to a slightly reduced transport capacity compared to the conventionally powered compact SAV model variants. The 450 litres luggage compartment volume is fully available in primary use. With a standard split of 40: 20: 40, the folding backrests enable this to be increased to 1,470 litres. A trailer tow hitch with detachable ballhead is optionally available for the new BMW X1 xDrive25e. The maximum trailer load is 750 kilograms.

BMW will introduce a wave of enticing additions to standard specification and broaden the array of options available ex-factory in spring 2019, delivering a further boost to driving pleasure and individuality in many of its model ranges. New design features, exterior paint finishes and light-alloy wheels enhance the sporting appearance of the BMW 2 Series Coupe, BMW 2 Series Convertible, BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo, BMW 4 Series, BMW M4 Coupe (fuel consumption combined: 10.0 – 9.9 l/100 km [28.3 – 28.5 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 227 – 225 g/km) and BMW M4 Convertible (fuel consumption combined: 10.2 – 10.1 l/100 km [27.7 – 28.0 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 232 – 230 g/km). Joining the equipment offering for the BMW 5 Series Sedan and BMW 5 Series Touring, meanwhile, is a BMW Individual Composition with M Sport features.

The spread of BMW X1 and BMW X2 model variants presented to customers has also been further expanded, and their exhaust gas treatment systems will now include a gasoline particulate filter. BMW 2 Series Coupe, BMW 2 Series Convertible, BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo: fresh touches enhance sportiness and elegance.
Among the refreshing flourishes enriching the visual sportiness and elegance of the BMW 2 Series Coupe and BMW 2 Series Convertible are darkened rear lights, which will become part of standard specification in March 2019. The high-performance BMW M2 Competition (fuel consumption combined: 10.0 – 9.8 l/100 km [28.3 – 28.8 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 227 – 224 g/km) will likewise come with darkened rear lights as standard. BMW 2 Series Coupe and BMW 2 Series Convertible customers ordering their car in Sport Line specification will find additional bi-colour 17- and 18-inch light-alloy wheels on the options list.

All Sport Line model and M Sport model variants of the BMW 2 Series Coupe and BMW 2 Series Convertible come with a black kidney grille surround. And new to the options list for the interior is Dakota leather trim with exclusive stitching.

Dark rear lights will also be included in the standard specification for the BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo from March 2019. Cars with the optional Adaptive LED Headlights also have black inserts for the headlight units, which the M Sport model will complement with a BMW kidney grille, exhaust tailpipe embellishers and exterior mirror caps (optional) in High-gloss Black. Added to which, Jet Black 18-inch M light-alloy wheels in star-spoke design and 19-inch M light-alloy wheels in twin-spoke design with Jet Black polished finish and mixed-size tyres are available for M Sport models as a new and exclusive option. In addition, the exterior colour shade Mineral White metallic can be specified for M Sport cars.

BMW 4 Series, BMW M4 Coupe, BMW M4 Convertible: new paint finishes, light-alloy wheels and leather appointments.
The BMW 4 Series will present an even more alluring proposition from March 2019 thanks to new individualisation options. For example, the stylish elegance of the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe will be showcased to particularly stunning effect by the BMW Individual paint finish Aventurine Red metallic and BMW Individual special paint finish Frozen Dark Grey metallic. The selection of colours available for the BMW 4 Series Coupe and BMW 4 Series Convertible now also includes Mediterranean Blue metallic. Newcomers to the range of optional equipment available for all BMW 4 Series models are 18-inch light-alloy wheels in twin-spoke design and the bi-colour paint variant Orbit Grey, plus 19-inch M light-alloy wheels in twin-spoke design and bi-colour Jet Black with mixed-size tyres.

The interior also contains some new and distinctive touches in the form of the Mocha colour shade for the optional Dakota leather trim on Sport Line, Luxury Line and M Sport cars and interior trim strips in Carbon Fibre, which are available in conjunction with M Sport specification. The M Sport and Sport Line variants of the BMW 4 Series will now be fitted with black rear light screens and a BMW kidney grille surround in High-gloss Black as standard.

Darkened rear lights are also set to adorn the rear of the BMW M4 Coupe and BMW M4 Convertible. The BMW Individual paint finish Frozen Dark Blue II will be offered as an option for the two high-performance models from March 2019. Plus, the BMW M4 Coupe with M Competition package can be ordered with two new bi-colour leather trim options. BMW Individual fine-grain Merino full leather trim is available in the Sakhir Orange/Black and Silverstone/ Black combinations.

Exclusive dynamics: new M Sport Individual equipment line for the BMW 4 Series.
A new and highly desirable addition to the selection of equipment lines available from March 2019 for the BMW 4 Series Coupe, BMW 4 Series Convertible and BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe is the M Sport Individual model. Here, signature M features designed to fuel dynamic driving pleasure team up with suitably exclusive options from BMW Individual. The new equipment line includes the BMW Individual paint finish Tanzanite Blue metallic, an M Aerodynamics package, BMW Individual High-gloss Shadow Line, 19-inch BMW Individual light-alloy wheels in V-spoke design with mixed-size tyres, and variable sport steering. BMW 5 Series range: BMW Individual Composition with M Sport features.
A neatly blended selection of super-exclusive design and equipment features distinguishes the BMW Individual Composition with M Sport features available for the BMW 5 Series Sedan and BMW 5 Series Touring from March 2019. The new option includes BMW Individual paintwork in Azurite Black metallic, Carbon Black metallic, Champagne Quartz metallic, Almandine Brown metallic or Rhodonite Silver metallic, 20-inch BMW Individual light-alloy wheels, BMW Individual extended leather upholstery Merino in Tartufo, Caramel or Smoke White, comfort seats with active seat ventilation, a leather-covered BMW Individual instrument panel, a BMW Individual headliner in Anthracite and BMW Individual interior trim strips.

BMW 8 Series Coupe now available with a richer variety of paint finishes and leather appointments.
The show-stopping design and luxurious interior ambience of the new BMW 8 Series Coupe can be tailored even more precisely to the owner’s personal style from spring 2019 thanks to a wider array of exterior paint finishes and leather appointments. The spectrum of body colours available has expanded to include the BMW Individual paint finishes Aventurine Red metallic and Tanzanite Blue metallic and the BMW Individual special paint finishes Brilliant White metallic, Frozen Dark Brown metallic, Frozen Arctic Grey metallic, Frozen Cashmere Silver metallic, Frozen Dark Silver metallic, Frozen Brilliant White metallic and Pure Metal Silver metallic.

BMW X5: new exterior colours and leather appointments.
The range of body colour shades and leather appointments for the new BMW X5 will also be further expanded in spring 2019. The Sports Activity Vehicle will now be available with the exterior paint finishes Sophisto Grey Brilliant Effect metallic and Terra Brown metallic and BMW Individual paint finishes Ruby Black metallic, Pyrite Brown metallic, Ametrine metallic and Tanzanite Blue metallic.

A selection of additional options will help customers bring a personalised flavour to the interior of the new BMW X5. New arrivals include BMW Individual extended leather upholstery Merino in Ivory White/Midnight Blue combination and BMW Individual fine-grain Merino full leather trim in Black, Ivory White, Tartufo, Coffee and Ivory White/Midnight Blue. Sales get underway of the BMW X2 M35i; BMW X1 xDrive20i, BMW X2 xDrive20i and BMW X1 xDrive25i now with gasoline particulate filter.
The BMW X2 will welcome a new top-of-the-line model variant in spring 2019. The market launch des BMW X2 M35i sees the extrovert design of the compact Sports Activity Coupes link up with an extremely powerful four-cylinder petrol engine. The new 2.0-litre unit with M TwinPower Turbo technology generates maximum output of 225 kW/306 hp and peak torque of 450 Nm (332 lb-ft), and accelerates the BMW X2 M35i from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.0 seconds. Power transfer is via an eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission and BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive. An M Sport braking system and mechanical M Sport differential at the front axle also play their part in endowing the flagship X2 with its standout sporting prowess.

More petrol variants of the BMW X1 and BMW X2 will boast further reduced emissions from March 2019. The BMW X1 xDrive20i (fuel consumption combined: 6.7 l/100 km [42.2 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 152 g/km), BMW X2 xDrive20i (fuel consumption combined: 6.7 – 6.5 l/100 km [42.2 – 43.5 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 152 – 147 g/km) and BMW X1 xDrive25i (fuel consumption combined: 6.8 l/100 km [41.5 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 155 g/km) will now be fitted with a gasoline particulate filter to cut levels of particulate emissions.

Premium carmaker BMW is unveiling a new generation of its highly successful BMW X1, which has chalked up global sales exceeding the 800,000 mark. In China, the first generation was sold up to 200,000 times, including approx. 140,000 locally produced cars in BMW Brilliance’s plant Tiexi. With a thorough understanding of the consumers’ needs in this category in mind, the new-generation model respects their requirements even further and is redefining its segment. Accordingly, BMW has specially developed a long-wheelbase X1 for the Chinese market.

The long-wheelbase version of the new BMW X1 offers a particularly high standard of spaciousness in the rear, at the same time as setting the pace when it comes to versatility and quality as well. Boasting significantly larger dimensions, a body design straight out of the BMW X model mould, perfected functionality and a raised seating position for driver and front passenger, it serves up an even more intense blend of Sports Activity Vehicle DNA. A completely new generation of engines featuring BMW TwinPower Turbo technology and the latest version of the BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system help to ensure outstanding driving pleasure and efficiency. A wealth of innovative equipment features, intelligent connectivity and the contemporary premium ambience of a cabin that also stands out for its high-quality materials and excellent finish likewise all bear testimony to the advances that have been made in the long-wheelbase version of the new BMW X1 compared to its predecessor model.

The long-wheelbase version of the new BMW X1 is being built at BMW Brilliance’s Tiexi plant in Shenyang.

The long-wheelbase version of the new BMW X1 (fuel consumption combined: 7.3 – 6.1 l/100 km [38.7 – 46.3 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 173 – 146 g/km) is being launched in China with a choice of three power options. The BMW X1 sDrive18Li is powered by a three-cylinder petrol engine with an output of 100 kW/136 hp. The BMW X1 sDrive20Li and BMW X1 xDrive20Li models use a 141 kW/192 hp four-cylinder petrol engine, with a further four-cylinder unit generating a peak output of 170 kW/231 hp in the BMW X1 xDrive25Li.

All model variants deliver BMW’s trademark brand of sportiness, together with fuel consumption and emissions figures that are remarkably low in view of their performance. The three-cylinder engine under the bonnet of the new BMW X1 sDrive18Li is coupled as standard to a six-speed Steptronic transmission, while the remaining models come equipped with an eight-speed Steptronic transmission as standard. The BMW X1 sDrive18Li and BMW X1 sDrive20Li models are fitted with a front-wheel-drive system that has been tuned to produce the driving dynamics for which the brand is renowned. In the case of the new BMW X1 xDrive20Li and BMW X1 xDrive25Li, meanwhile, an intelligent all-wheel-drive version designed for optimised efficiency ensures that drive power is split between the front and rear wheels in line with requirements at all times.

The long-wheelbase version of the new BMW X1 is available in xLine and Sport Line models in conjunction with all engine variants and drive configurations. Neatly coordinated equipment and design features shine a particularly sharp spotlight on the car’s robust all-round character or its sporting agility.

The new BMW X1 offers a variety of configurations, including a panoramic sunroof, run-flat tyres, an outside rearview mirror assembly integrated with electric folding, heating, parking assist and memory functions, rear Park Distance Control alarm, keyless start, electrically adjustable driver’s and front passenger’s seats with memory function, Dual Zone automatic air conditioning with rear vents, a 6.5-inch freestanding high-resolution colour display, the iDrive operating system, a multifunction sports steering wheel, interior lighting package, an electronic handbrake, Driving Experience Control and Emergency Call. Another stand-out feature of the new BMW X1 Long Wheelbase is its high level of interior comfort. The rear seat bench with a tilt-adjustable backrest, a large panoramic glass sunroof and the lighting package with switchable orange/white ambient lighting all provide a particularly pleasant feeling of space.

One other optional configuration is the BMW Head-Up Display, which projects driving-related information directly onto the windscreen and is offered as part of the Navigation Plus package together with a navigation system, an 8.8-inch display and a Touch Controller. Among the other options available are Dynamic Damper Control, LED headlights, the Driving Assistant package, the Harman Kardon surround sound system, automatic tailgate operation, rear-view camera, front seat heating, an automatic parking assist system, cruise control, interconnected driving and real-time traffic information.

Commanding and versatile in the BMW X family mould.
Its raised seating position, increased space, stylish premium ambience and even greater interior variability underline the status of the long-wheelbase version of the new BMW X1 as a supremely assured, multitalented addition to the segment. The parallels with BMW Sports Activity Vehicles and Sports Activity Coupes from higher vehicle classes are also evident in both the range of optional driver assistance systems and the style of its interior design.

Measuring 4.56 metres long, 1.82 metres wide and 1.62 metres tall, the proportions of the long-wheelbase version of the new BMW X1 follow the Sports Activity Vehicle blueprint. The new model has grown in length by some 8 centimetres compared to its predecessor, in width by 2 centimetres and in height by around 4 centimetres. These larger dimensions, together with the new vehicle architecture, have paved the way for the vast increase in interior spaciousness.

Excellent seating comfort and significantly more spacious.
The long-wheelbase version of the new BMW X1 features an exceptionally versatile interior. Compared to the outgoing model, seating comfort has been greatly improved in the rear in particular, where occupants are also able to enjoy considerably more space. The amount of room passengers in the second row of seats will find for their knees is particularly generous. Depending on the position in which the rear seat bench is set – it can slide fore and aft through 13 centimetres as standard – knee room is between 5 and 18 centimetres greater than that offered by the rear of the first-generation BMW X1. The tilt-adjustable rear seat backrest further enhances ride comfort. Also, there are lots of storage pockets or door storage space available.

Beyond this, occupants will also find themselves immersed in a luxurious premium ambience courtesy of the excellent quality of the interior’s materials and finish as well as its beautifully precise design. The arrangement of the cockpit and its controls creates the driver-focused layout that is a BMW hallmark. The lines of the interior trim and accent strips in the instrument panel continue into the door panels, so that occupants in all seats are encircled by a uniform material structure and colour scheme.

The long-wheelbase version of the new BMW X1 has a boot capacity of between 465 and 675 litres, depending on the position of the rear seat bench, or a capacity of 505 litres if measured based on the standard seat position – an increase of at least 45 litres over the predecessor model. Folding down the 40:20:40 rear seat backrest, which can also be adjusted for angle, allows load capacity to be expanded to as much as 1,650 litres as required. Automatic tailgate operation (optional) makes using the vehicle’s load-carrying capacity even easier, and the Comfort Access option also includes a hands-free tailgate opening and closing function.

Powerful presence, sturdy proportions, dynamic lines.
Rugged proportions, a powerful presence and dynamic lines lend the long-wheelbase version of the new BMW X1 a commanding presence. The larger and more impactful BMW double-kidney air inlet grille, three-section lower air intake and the characteristic look formed by the twin circular headlights and fog lamps below them are the stand-out features of the front end. The stylistic underbody protection elements at the front and rear and the square contour of the wheel cutouts all underline the solid stature of the BMW X model. The athletic impression is complemented by the roofline, eye-catching character lines and window surfaces. At both rear windows, the black Air Blades further add a distinctly sporty touch. The flat outline of the two-section, L-shaped rear lights and the boldly flared wheel arches give added impact to the wide track of the long-wheelbase version of the new BMW X1.

Personalised styles: cross-country xLine and sporty Sports Line models.
The cross-country xLine model can be identified from the side by roof rails and side window surrounds in Aluminium satinated, coordinated side skirts in matt Satin Silver and 18-inch bi-colour light-alloy wheels in Y-spoke design. Its robust character is further emphasised by the underbody protection at the front and rear in matt Satin Silver. The interior trim comprises sports seats excellently upholstered in perforated leather and with decorative stitching at the sides, blending perfectly with the stitch design on the centre armrest. Also included are contour lighting in the doors and an accent strip for the instrument panel in Pearl Gloss Chrome. In addition, the original oak trims in matt finish create a luxurious and comfortable interior.

Among the special features of the sporty Sports Line model’s exterior is the specially designed BMW double-kidney air inlet grille, whose bars – like the special air intakes, the side window surrounds and the exterior mirror caps – come in high-gloss Black. The underbody protection at the front and rear of the Sports Line model and its side skirts are presented in body colour. 18-inch bi-colour light-alloy wheels in double-spoke design round off the exterior’s sporting appearance. Inside, the Sports Line model also comprises sports seats excellently upholstered in perforated leather and with decorative stitching at the sides, blending perfectly with the stitch design on the centre armrest. Also specially provided are a combination of black leather with red stitching and interior trim strips in high-gloss Black with Coral Red, to create a sense of vibrant sportiness.

New generation of engines: sportiness and efficiency rooted in BMW TwinPower Turbo technology.
The long-wheelbase version of the new BMW X1 is available with an all-new line-up of engines. The power units form part of the BMW Group’s new generation of engines and distinguish themselves with instantaneous power delivery and optimised efficiency. BMW TwinPower Turbo technology combines with extensive BMW EfficientDynamics measures to endow all variants of the compact BMW X model with an outstanding balance between sportiness on the one hand and fuel efficiency on the other.

Flexible, quick to respond and more efficient than ever: xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive.
Whereas the engine’s power is channelled to the road via a state-of-the-art front-wheel-drive system in the new BMW X1 sDrive20Li and the new BMW X1 sDrive18Li, the two other model variants utilise the latest BMW xDrive smart all-wheel drive system. The remarkably optimised, low-weight and fuel-efficient version of the smart system fitted in the new BMW X1 xDrive20Li and BMW X1 xDrive25Li models distributes the engine’s power between the front and rear wheels exactly as the situation requires – at all times. Together with DSC (Dynamic Stability Control), it allows the system to act pre-emptively to counteract any incipient oversteer or understeer. It does this by diverting power to the wheel or wheels where it can be transferred to the road to maximum effect. The BMW xDrive system therefore ensures supreme traction, optimised directional stability and enhanced cornering dynamics in all weather and road conditions. Furthermore, the combination of the DSC system and xDrive also includes Hill Descent Control.

The xDrive smart system on the long-wheelbase version of the new BMW X1 consists of a single-speed bevel gear in the front-axle drive unit (a power take-off) and a rear-axle drive unit with an electrohydraulically controlled hang-on multi-plate clutch. The two are connected by a two-piece drive shaft. If necessary, the BMW xDrive smart system is able to direct drive power to the wheels as requirements dictate with split-second speed and without the driver noticing.

Sophisticated chassis technology – including Dynamic Damper Control.
The chassis technology of the original X1 has been totally redeveloped for the long-wheelbase version of the new model and now comprises a single-joint strut suspension at the front and a multi-link rear axle. Intelligent lightweight design underpinned by a high proportion of aluminium and high-strength steel has increased rigidity at the same time as lowering weight. An innovative axle mounting, model-specific elastokinematics and the sophisticated three-way support mounts used to connect the dampers to the body furthermore serve to enhance the car’s agility and ride comfort.

The long-wheelbase version of the new BMW X1 is equipped with Servotronic speed-sensitive power steering and also includes Dynamic Damper Control. The electronically controlled dampers improve the ride comfort of the new BMW X model and sharpen its dynamic attributes. Two damper control settings can be activated using the Driving Experience Control switch.

Equipped with the Driving Experience Control system, DSC dynamic stability control system and comprehensive occupant protection.
The Driving Experience Control system’s button on the central console between the front seats allows the driver to give the car’s set-up an even sportier, more comfort-oriented or efficiency-optimised character by calling up COMFORT, SPORT or ECO PRO mode at the touch of a button. Other than the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), Brake Assist system and Start-Off Assistant, the DSC dynamic stability control system also comes with the Active Differential Brake (ADB) and Performance Control functions. Performance Control helps imbue the car with dynamic cornering characteristics by distributing engine power and braking force in a shrewdly measured way. Moving a higher proportion of drive power to the outside wheels through corners, it counteracts any tendency to understeer without waiting for stability to reach a critical point. This ensures an agile and neutral cornering attitude.

The body structure of the long-wheelbase version of the new BMW X1 can be noted both for its improved torsional rigidity and for its optimised weight – the result of an intelligent mix of body materials. This has the effect of enhancing agility and efficiency at the same time as providing outstanding occupant protection. The impact generated in a collision is diverted and absorbed with the aid of precisely defined load paths and generously sized deformation zones. The interior comes with a full complement of safety features, including front and side airbags, as well as head/curtain airbags at the sides and three-point inertia-reel seatbelts for all seats. All model variants ride on run-flat tyres as standard.

Innovative driver assistance systems: added driving pleasure through intelligent connectivity.
The rich variety of assistance systems compared with those already available for the original model underlines the overwhelming superiority achieved by the long-wheelbase version of the new BMW X1 in the research of intelligent connectivity. The Navigation system assists route guidance by showing direction arrows and high-quality multi-view map images on the 6.5-inch Control Display. Another option is the Navigation Plus system, comprising an 8.8-inch Control Display, an instrument cluster with extended features, a split-screen function for the Control Display, an iDrive Touch Controller button and the BMW Head-Up Display. This system allows High Guidance instructions, including lane recommendations, to be shown on the instrument cluster’s TFT display or projected onto the windscreen, as desired. The BMW Head-Up Display projects information – including the current speed in digits, Check Control messages and readouts from the Speed Limit Info system – directly into the driver’s field of view, allowing them to register the information without having to divert their gaze away from the road ahead.

The rear-view camera, whose images are transferred onto the Control Display, together with the Parking Assistant, which helps the driver to find and make use of parallel parking spaces, facilitate precise and easy manoeuvring. The Driving Assistant includes Lane Departure Warning, Speed Limit Info with No Passing Info display, the anti-dazzle High Beam Assistant, as well as Collision Warning and Pedestrian Warning with City Braking function.
