Munich. BMW is bringing innovation and electric
mobility into new areas of life with its new electric stand-up
paddleboard (SUP).
The BMW x SipaBoards is the product of a
collaboration with Slovenian manufacturer SipaBoards, the market
leader in the field. The boards are self-inflating and combine
electric drive technology with high-grade materials, digital
connectivity and a flexible energy system. This is the first time BMW
has offered an electrically powered product designed for water sports,
opening up a new chapter in riding pleasure in the process. BMW Group
Designworks took care of the visuals.

Electric lifestyle on the water.

Stand-up paddleboarding has grown into an extremely popular, on-trend
sport over recent years. It brings together physical activity,
immersion in nature and low barriers to entry – and therefore appeals
to first-timers and experienced water sports enthusiasts alike. The
BMW x SipaBoards brings a new dimension to the paddleboarding
experience in the form of electric assistance, connectivity and
intuitive control. The result is a new level of mobility on the water
and the confluence of comfort and adventure.

At the heart of the BMW x SipaBoards is an integrated motor
generating up to 300 watts of power. It produces additional thrust
while on the move and makes paddling easier – especially into
headwinds or currents. The drivetrain, with a propeller developed
specifically for BMW, runs emission-free and near silently, and
delivers a unique riding experience at speeds of up to 7.5 km/h (4
knots). The motor also comes in handy by pumping up the board
automatically before you head out. The requisite energy is supplied by
battery modules, which are available with a range of different
capacities – to respond to individual requirements – and can be
swapped out in just a few simple steps.

Structural solidity and extensive connectivity.

Its specially developed X-woven drop-stitch core gives the e-SUP
superb structural rigidity and stability. The board is intuitive to
use, via a new user interface (UI) with Bluetooth remote control –
whose design was inspired by the BMW Neue Klasse – built into the
paddle. It allows the rider to toggle into FREUDE Mode for extra
power, eye-catching light effects and haptic feedback. A smartphone
app brings additional functionality, enabling users to plan routes,
for example, monitor the battery charge and utilise GPS tracking. An
additional safety feature is the automatic power cut-off, which is
triggered by a Bluetooth signal. If the paddle falls into the water, a
return signal is immediately transmitted that automatically cuts the
motor. This means the board remains under control at all times,
including in unexpected situations, and makes riding extremely safe.

Fun for up to two people per SUP.

The board and all-carbon-fibre paddle fuse robustness with lightness,
and deliver an exceptional on-the-water riding experience. The board
is 3.65 m long, 0.82 m wide, 0.15 m thick and weighs 10.9 kilograms
(14.9 kg including the motor). It is designed to carry two people. The
design was developed by BMW Group Designworks and draws parallels with
the design language of the BMW Neue Klasse models. It spans the board,
carbon-fibre paddle and accessories, and underscores the classy and
cohesive overall look. Three colour variants are available. All the
materials employed are extremely durable, which means they are good
for sustainability and ideally suited to handling changing conditions
on the water. The board runs quietly and with zero emissions.

Intelligent mounting system opens up a multitude of possibilities.

Another special feature of the BMW x SipaBoards is the innovative
mounting system, which allows accessories to be attached quickly to a
large number of points on the e-SUP. For example, cameras, speakers,
drinks bottles, waterproof bags or even coolboxes can all be fixed in
place easily by click & connect and the board customised
accordingly. LED ambient lighting underneath the board further
enhances the exclusive vibe and provides a helping hand when boarding
in the hours of darkness.

BMW also offers a Lifestyle Accessory Capsule, which comes with
selected accessories such as an Insta360 X5 camera – allowing users to
take incredible shots during a ride – and apparel from the BMW range.
All of which means the e-SUP is not only extremely adept functionally,
it can also serve as a window into the personal lifestyle of its owner.

Two battery configurations for electric boarding pleasure on
the water.
The BMW x SipaBoards is offered with two 90
Wh battery modules. This configuration is aimed at owners keen to
explore lakes or coastlines, for example, from the water. The
batteries enable between one and 3.5 hours of boarding time.

From spring 2026, the board will also be available with two 180 Wh
battery modules as an option. These are designed for longer riding
times and intended for people planning extended expeditions on the
water. With these battery modules specified, users can cruise for
between three and seven hours.

The BMW x SipaBoards is available now from the BMW Lifestyle online
store, selected SipaBoards retailers and https://bmw.sipaboards.com
priced at EUR 3,990.00.

Contact presse: Jeroen Lissens
Tél: +32-3-890-9708
Adresse e-mail: jeroen.lissens@bmw.be

Press Release,BMW,Sports

Munich.
The BMW Motorrad Motorsport family in the FIM Superbike World
Championship (WorldSBK) will welcome a new addition in 2026. Italian
rider Danilo Petrucci will join the BMW Motorrad Motorsport factory
rider line-up in WorldSBK. The 34-year-old fan favourite will
compete next year aboard the BMW M 1000 RR for the ROKiT BMW
Motorrad WorldSBK Team. He will succeed World Champion Toprak
Razgatlioglu (TUR), who is set to move to MotoGP for the upcoming season.

Petrucci, well known by his nickname “Petrux,” is one of the most
experienced international riders. He raced full-time in MotoGP from
2012 to 2021, with additional appearances in the following two years.
He also spent a season in MotoAmerica and competed in the Dakar Rally,
where he impressively won a stage. Petrucci joined WorldSBK in 2023.
In his 93 WorldSBK races to date with the private Barni Spark Racing
Team, “Petrux” has claimed no fewer than 20 podium finishes, including
three victories. In the current season, he has already stood on the
podium seven times and currently sits third in the championship
standings behind leader Razgatlioglu and Nicolò Bulega (ITA). He also
leads the Independent Riders’ standings by a wide margin.

“We are very pleased to welcome Danilo Petrucci to our BMW Motorrad
Motorsport family in 2026,” said Sven Blusch, Head of BMW Motorrad
Motorsport. “We are confident that we can continue our success story
in WorldSBK with Danilo. His move to BMW Motorrad Motorsport is more
than just a new contract – it is a recognition of his hard work
throughout his career. Danilo has more than earned his place as a
factory rider, and we are convinced that his passion and skill will
help lead our team into the future. His impressive career across
various motorsport disciplines is a testament to his talent and
ability to perform under the most demanding conditions. Danilo has not
only excelled on the track but has also won the hearts of fans with
his unique character and authenticity. He’s a true fighter who never
gives up, and his positive attitude inspires not only his team but
everyone who follows him. We look forward to the challenges and
successes ahead, and we are proud to soon have Petrux as a member of
our BMW Motorrad Motorsport family.”

Petrucci said: “I’m really happy to join BMW Motorrad Motorsport for
the next season in World Superbikes and proud that I will ride the
bike that currently bears the number one. It was my target to ride a
factory bike because I really want to fight for the World Championship
title. So I think that this is the step that I needed to get in the
position to achieve that goal. I can’t wait to join the team and I
want to thank everyone at BMW and all those people at home who support
me. I also want to thank the Barni Spark Racing Team for these three
years in World Superbikes and that they enabled me to get into a
factory team, which has been my target.”

Berlijn.

//

“It’s fantastic to kick off the season together with our entire BMW
Motorrad Motorsport factory family from both world championships, and
to do so in the perfect location, BMW Motorrad Welt. This is where the
heart of BMW Motorrad production beats, and it is also the home of our
racing engines,” said Sven Blusch, Head of BMW Motorrad
Motorsport. “We are still in the middle of a busy winter
break, but the anticipation for the season grows with each passing
day. In WorldSBK, we will see the new BMW M 1000 RR carrying number
one, and after winning the title with Toprak last season, the goal is,
of course, to become World Champion again. The same applies to the FIM
EWC. We’ve stood on the championship podium several times before, and
now we want to reach the top step. We are working hard with our teams
and riders to achieve these ambitious goals.”

In WorldSBK, the ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team, led by Team
Principal Shaun Muir, will field the new M RR. World Champion
Razgatlioglu is entering his second year with the team after an
exceptional debut season with BMW Motorrad Motorsport. For van der
Mark, this marks his fifth season as a BMW Motorrad factory rider. The
WorldSBK season kicks off with the first races on 22nd and 23rd
February at Phillip Island (AUS).

The BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team, led by Werner Daemen, secured
third place overall in the 2024 FIM EWC standings. Reiterberger, a
veteran of the team, has been part of the project since its debut
season in 2019/20. For Guintoli and Soomer, it’s their second season
with the team, while Odendaal joins as a new addition this year. The
first race, the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans (FRA), is scheduled for
19th to 20th April.

Joining the stage live at the Season Launch were two well-known
members of the BMW Motorrad Motorsport road racing family: Isle of Man
winners Peter Hickman and Davey Todd (both GBR), who will race
together for FHO Racing BMW in international road races and the
British Superbike Championship in 2025.

More quotes from the Season Launch:

Christian Gonschor (Technical Director BMW Motorrad
Motorsport): “I am very excited about the new season, and
today’s event showed that the entire BMW Motorrad Motorsport and BMW
Group are fully behind this. We had both factory racing programmes
here, and there couldn’t have been a better way to start the year. The
riders were happy, the fans were thrilled, and we as technicians and
engineers were as well. The new BMW M 1000 RR is an outstanding
foundation for the future. The goal remains, as always, to be
successful and to approach every race with full focus. Naturally, we
aim to defend the title in WorldSBK. We are now the ones to beat,
which presents a challenge for any manufacturer as competitors grow
stronger – but so will we. In the Endurance World Championship, we
also aim to win the title, and I think that in 2025, with the new
motorcycle, the new rider lineup, and the complete team package, we
are very well positioned to succeed in endurance racing as well.”

Shaun Muir (Team Principal ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK
Team): “It is great to be here in Berlin. It has been twelve
months since we set off the project with Toprak and Michael as a
pairing. It is fantastic to see the new 2025 BMW M 1000 RR in the new
paint scheme. It’s looking really good. We are just happy that it is
now January, pre-season testing starts in one week’s time and then we
are quickly off to Australia. The expectations are very high because
of the successes both Michael and Toprak had last year. We would like
to get one step further for sure to get the manufacturers’ and riders’
championship and also Michael in the top three or four in the World
Championship would be sensational. The test team have done everything
possible to give us the tools to do the job and we are excited to go
to the track. It has been great to be here, to see all the fans, the
sponsors and we are looking forward to start the season.”

Werner Daemen (Team Manager BMW Motorrad World Endurance
Team): “It was a great season launch. BMW Motorrad Welt is a
fantastic location, and it’s always amazing to be here at the BMW
Motorrad plant in Berlin, where our engines are built. It’s great to
see how the employees work here and how professional everything is.
I’m also very happy that we presented ourselves with our new
motorcycle here. We’ve started the year off great, and as the saying
goes, if something starts well, it will end well. We can’t wait to get
the new season underway. We are well-prepared with a strong bike and a
great rider line-up that has already synced up perfectly during the
first test.”

Toprak Razgatlioglu (#1 BMW M 1000 RR, WorldSBK): “It
was the second time we did the launch in Berlin and it was even better
than last year. Everyone was really happy because now we came here as
World Champion. It was exciting. We will now head into the new season.
Everyone will see the number one on my bike. In general I am happy. It
looks like we are ready to start the season. I hope that we can
achieve a lot of success this year, especially together with Mickey.
Thank you very much to everyone for the support!”

Michael van der Mark (#60 BMW M 1000 RR, WorldSBK):
“It was nice to be here after one year. In this last year, we could
see that a lot of people became fans of not just Toprak but of BMW and
our entire WorldSBK project. It’s fantastic to be here, and it’s nice
to start the season that way. Everything is looking fantastic and now
I just want to race the bike. We finished last season so strong with
the double podium, I think this is where we should start. I want to
get as many podiums as possible. I think the ultimate dream of
everyone in the team is to have the riders’, the teams’ and of course
the manufacturers’ championship. That would be a nice goal and if we
continue like last year, it should be possible.”

Markus Reiterberger (#37 BMW M 1000 RR, FIM EWC):
“The days in Berlin were fantastic. Seeing the plant and also BMW
Motorrad Welt is always interesting. The team presentation was
something special; there were so many people present, and it is of
great importance for us to be introduced together with the WorldSBK
team. That gives us an extra boost heading into the new season. It has
further strengthened our goal of winning races and securing the title.“

Sylvain Guintoli (#37 BMW M 1000 RR, FIM EWC): “It
has been pretty amazing here in Berlin. It is first time here and
visiting the factory, seeing how the bikes are being built, the way
things are organised, was mindblowing. It has been great for us as the
World Endurance project to be officially presented with the WorldSBK
effort. There is a really nice vibe about the BMW Motorrad Motorsport
programme and it was a pleasure to be here. I enjoyed every second and
I can’t wait for the season to start now because with the new bike,
the 2025 model, we are confident that we have a package we can win
races. I am looking forward to the first race.”

Steven Odendaal (#37 BMW M 1000 RR, FIM EWC): “It has
been a really warm welcome from the team and the entire BMW Motorrad
Motorsport family. I really enjoyed it. It is a fantastic environment
and it has also been a great launch. It brought all the people
together and we had really great time. I enjoyed seeing the BMW
Motorrad plant as well. I saw all the details and the quality that
goes into building this machine for us. So it was very nice to meet
all the guys who are building our machines before the season and I am
super ready for what’s to come this year. Everything is looking really
good and now it’s out time to do our part on track and give it full gas.”

Hannes Soomer (#37 BMW M 1000 RR, FIM EWC): “It has
been a great event. I am proud to be part of this family and proud to
be here. I am looking forward to the season. My role in the team is to
support these three guys to fight for the World Championship. This
means that I will do what they need. From my selfish side, I have the
most experienced guys in World Endurance in my box so I will learn as
much as possible and hopefully step in one of their shoes in the future.”

Munich.

//

31-year-old Odendaal has been a permanent fixture in the FIM EWC
paddock since 2022, making him a true endurance expert. Previously, he
was the overall runner-up in the 2021 FIM Supersport World
Championship, competed for eight years in the Moto2 World
Championship, and won the Moto2 European Championship in 2016.

Reiterberger has been deeply rooted in BMW Motorrad Motorsport’s FIM
EWC project from the beginning and will enter his sixth season with
the BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team in 2025. Guintoli, the 2014
Superbike World Champion and 2021 FIM EWC World Champion, joined team
manager Werner Daemen’s squad for the 2024 season. For Soomer, it will
also be his second year in the team and on the #37 BMW M 1000 RR.

Sven Blusch, Head of BMW Motorrad Motorsport: “With
this strong rider lineup, we have assembled an important part of our
overall package for the FIM EWC 2025. Our clear goal is to become
world champions in endurance racing after winning the title in the FIM
World Superbike Championship. With our quartet of riders, we are
well-prepared for this. Markus Reiterberger has been a key part of the
success story of the BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team from the very
beginning. Sylvain Guintoli has been a very important part of the
project since last season with all his skill and experience. Newcomer
Steven Odendaal has also already made a successful name for himself in
the FIM EWC. Additionally, we have a strong fourth rider in Hannes
Soomer, who has settled in excellently in his first year on the BMW M
1000 RR and at BMW Motorrad Motorsport. At the same time, we would
like to thank Ilya Mikhalchik for his long-standing commitment to the
BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team. He has also been instrumental in
shaping the team from the beginning and setting it on the path to success.”

Werner Daemen, Team Manager BMW Motorrad World Endurance
Team: “With our rider lineup, we are well-prepared to enter
the title fight in 2025. Markus is our stalwart, and we are excited to
enter our sixth FIM EWC season together with him. Sylvain was a great
addition to our team in 2024, and it’s fantastic that our
collaboration with him continues. Our new addition Steven has already
been testing with us, and he has quickly settled into the team. In
Hannes, we have a strong fourth rider who made a great contribution to
the team last year. However, in an endurance team, it’s not just about
speed and skill, but also team spirit – and that’s an aspect that
distinguishes our quartet. Unfortunately, Ilya will no longer be with
us. I thank him for the many years together and wish him success in
the future.”

//

Sporting a special design and equipped with the characteristic Safety
Car roof beam, the car will appear on track at many of the most
popular Special Events.

As in real-world motor racing, a lead car will take the field around
a formation lap at classic iRacing events such as the 24 Hours of
Daytona (USA), the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring (GER), or the
“Petit Le Mans” at Road Atlanta (USA), before the participants launch
their hunt for points with a “flying start”. The BMW M2 CS Racing is
the youngest member of the BMW M Motorsport fleet on iRacing, while
the BMW M2 Racing successor model is ready and waiting to hit the real
racetrack for the 2026 season.

“This Safety Car partnership represents a new chapter in the success
story shared by BMW M Motorsport and iRacing,” said Timo Brückner,
Project Lead BMW M Automotive Gaming. “Each season, the Special Events
attract record levels of participants and have become real community
favourites. For example, nearly 20,000 drivers competed in the 24
Hours of Daytona last year. I am delighted that we will enjoy a
prominent position next season at the head of the field, with the BMW
M2 CS Racing at these highlight events. Just as in real life, this
race car is also the perfect entry-level model on iRacing, allowing
drivers to later gain experience with the BMW M4 GT4, the BMW M4 GT3,
and even in the BMW M Hybrid V8.”

Tony Gardner, iRacing president, said: “We have a strong partnership
with BMW M Motorsport dating back more than a decade, having brought
seven BMW race cars to iRacing. The M2 CS is the latest BMW to join
iRacing and has already proven to be incredibly popular with our
nearly 300,000 members. BMW M Motorsport becoming the official safety
car partner of iRacing special events further solidifies the
partnership and enhances the racing experience for our members. It’s
exciting to see how important sim racing is to BMW and its brand – we
are looking forward to the iRacing Daytona 24 powered by VCO on 18th January.”

There is a tradition of BMW M models appearing as safety cars at
motor racing events. Since 1999, BMW M has provided the fleet of
high-performance safety cars as “Official Car of MotoGP™”, the top
level of motorcycle racing. As of 2025, this concept will now be
mirrored in virtual motor racing.

//

ROWE Racing a

Vincent Vosse (chef d'équipe BMW M Team WRT) :

Dries Vanthoor (BMW M4 GT3 #32, BMW M Team WRT, 3ème place)
avons commis peu d'erreurs.

Sheldon van der Linde (BMW M4 GT3 #32, BMW M Team WRT, 3e

Charles Weerts (BMW M4 GT3 #32, BMW M Team WRT, 3e place) :

Valentino Rossi (BMW M4 GT3 #46, BMW M Team WRT, 24e

Werke » ?

//

encore !

//

heureusement, certaines certitudes demeurent.

- Piet Vandendriessche, CEO RBFA

- Alexander Wehr, CEO BMW Group Belux

naturelle depuis maintenant 12 ans.

Rendez-vous du 18 au 21 avril pour les 24 Heures Motos. +++Communiqué ci-dessous en anglais +++</pp:summary>

Le Mans. At BMW Motorrad Motorsport, the countdown to the
start of the 2024 season in the FIM Endurance World Championship
(FIM EWC) is underway. With the two-day Pre-Test at Le Mans (FRA)
this week, the final phase of preparations for the season opener has
begun. It will take place from 18th to 21st April at the same venue,
featuring the racing classic 24 Heures Motos. The BMW Motorrad World
Endurance Team, which will compete in 2024 with Markus Reiterberger
(GER), Ilya Mikhalchik (UKR) and new addition Sylvain Guintoli
(FRA), worked on fine-tuning the #37 BMW M 1000 RR for the 2024
season during the test.

While the BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team with Reiterberger,
Mikhalchik and Guintoli competes in the highest class, Formula EWC,
for overall victories and the title, the Tecmas-MRP-BMW Racing Team
enters its second full season in the FIM EWC’s Superstock class. Like
last year, Kenny Foray (FRA), Jan Bühn (GER), and Loïc Arbel (FRA)
will alternate on the #9 BMW M 1000 RR. Also present at the test at Le
Mans was BMW’s new addition Hannes Soomer. The 26-year-old Estonian
will support both teams as the fourth rider in the upcoming season.

Additionally, two more BMW teams from the Superstock class prepared
for the season opener at the test. The Japanese Team Etoile is using
the #25 BMW M 1000 RR and Team T2C Racing from France is competing
with the starting number 2.

Reactions to the Pre-Test at Le Mans.

Werner Daemen, Team Manager BMW Motorrad World Endurance
Team: “In the end, I think we can be very happy with the
test. We know what to do for race week. For sure, not everything was
perfect but it looks like we have found a good way. All three riders
did a very good job so I think we are well prepared for the race in
two weeks’ time and I have a good feeling.”

Sylvain Guintoli: “It was a positive test. We got a
lot of work done and had all the conditions that we could get. We had
rain and then dry and then rain again, so we did a lot of testing in
the wet as well which was good. The pace was good in wet and dry for
everybody so it’s looking good and we managed to find some interesting
solutions for the setup which was the idea of these two days. We’re
happy with the progress and now I’m very much looking forward to the
race in two weeks’ time. Hopefully we can fight for the win; that’s
the objective.”

Ilya Mikhalchik: “The test was quite tricky with the
weather conditions but in the wet, we did not have a bad feeling and
then in the end we had a few hours in dry conditions. That also went
pretty well but we still have some work to do for the race weekend to
further improve the bike. That will be our focus in the next two
weeks. We are ready to fight again and will try to bring our bike to
the top.”

Markus Reiterberger: “We finished the test in third
place, and all three of us were within four-tenths of a second.
Unfortunately, I encountered some traffic on my fast lap and couldn’t
quite show my best but we are quite satisfied. We sorted out a lot and
tried things during this test which is important for the race. It was
also positive that we made good progress in the rain. All three of us
were at or near the front in all conditions. Of course, we all need to
keep working hard to achieve our goals because there’s always room for
improvement. We have now identified everything, understood the new
package for 2024, and the new team composition, and know which
direction we need to work in to be at the front in two weeks. Many
thanks to the team, and now we keep pushing!”

Contact presse: Jeroen Lissens
Tél: +32-3-890-9708
Adresse e-mail: jeroen.lissens@bmw.be

Press Release,Sports

Torsten Schubert, Team Principal Schubert Motorsport :
M Motorsport."

Marco Wittmann, BMW M4 GT3 n°11, Walkenhorst Motorsport : "

Philipp Eng, BMW M4 GT3 n°25, Schubert Motorsport : "Après mes

Sheldon van der Linde, #31 BMW M4 GT3, Schubert Motorsport : "Je

//

BMW M GmbH is expanding its ranks of ultra-sporty CS models with the
introduction of the BMW M5 CS (fuel consumption, combined: 11.3 – 11.1
l/100 km [25.0 – 25.5 mpg imp] correspond to NEDC; 11,3 - 10,9 l/100
km correspond to WLTP, CO2 emissions, combined: 258 – 253
g/km correspond to NEDC, 257 – 248 g/km correspond to WLTP). The
limited-run, exclusive special-edition model treats four people to an
extraordinary driving experience and blends standout performance
attributes with an exclusive and luxurious appearance.

The 4.4-litre V8 engine with 467 kW/635 hp makes the BMW M5 CS the
most powerful car in the history of BMW M. Standard features include
the eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic and the
M xDrive all-wheel-drive system, which also offers a 2WD mode for pure
rear-wheel drive.

Rigorously applied lightweight design enables a weight saving
of some 70 kilograms over the BMW M5 Competition (fuel consumption,
combined: 11.3 – 11.1 l/100 km [26.7 – 26.9 mpg imp] correspond to
NEDC; 11,3 -10,9 l/100 km correspond to WLTP; CO2
emissions, combined: 259 – 254 g/km correspond to NEDC; 259 – 249 g/km
correspond to WLTP). With retuned bearing springs at the front and
rear axle and further refined damper control, the chassis has been
adapted to the lower vehicle weight and the increased performance
potential of the standard mixed-size Pirelli P Zero Corsa track tyres
(front: 275/35 R 20, rear: 285/35 R 20).

The BMW M5 CS sprints from 0 – 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.0 seconds,
and from 0 – 200 km/h (124 mph) in 10.3 seconds. Top speed is an
electronically governed 305 km/h (189 mph).

The exceptional driving experience on board the BMW M5 CS can be
enjoyed by four people – the driver and front passenger in M Carbon
seats and two other passengers in the individual rear seats. The black
Merino leather covers (fine-grain for the front seats) also feature
eye-catching contrasting panels and decorative stitching in Mugello
Red. The integral head restraints – with illuminated M5 logos for the
front seats – display an outline of the legendary Nürburgring circuit.

The centre marker perforation with red background on the M Alcantara
steering wheel is a classical racing car touch; the gearshift paddles
are made from carbon fibre and the steering wheel spokes have Black
Chrome trim.

A fixed lightweight cover on the centre console replaces the usual
armrest with opening lid. Its black Merino leather is complemented
by red double stitching. The colour red is used again for the “CS”
badging on the instrument panel and between the bucket-style seats in
the rear.

The BMW kidney grille surround on the BMW M5 CS, the “M5 CS” badges
on the kidney grille, the M gills on the front wings and the boot lid
are finished in the bold colour shade Gold Bronze, as are the 20‑inch
M forged wheels in Y-spoke design (front: 9.5 J x 20, rear: 10.5 J x
20). The door sill finishers come with illuminated “M5 CS” badges.

The L-shaped light tubes of the BMW Laser headlights illuminate
yellow instead of white when low beam, high beam or the Welcome Light
is switched on, bringing successful GT racing cars to mind.

The bonnet, front splitter, exterior mirror caps, rear spoiler, rear
diffuser, M Power engine compartment cover and intake silencer are
made from carbon fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP). Some elements
feature exposed carbon fibre.

Standard specification for the M5 CS includes its stainless-steel
sports exhaust system with four unadorned tailpipes and the M Carbon
ceramic brakes, whose callipers are painted in Red as standard or Gold
as an option.

Available alongside the Brands Hatch Grey metallic paint shade are
the exclusive BMW Individual matt paint finishes Frozen Brands Hatch
Grey metallic and Frozen Deep Green metallic.

The market launch of the new BMW M5 CS will get underway in spring
2021; in Germany it will be priced at 180,400 euros.

The fuel consumption and CO2 emissions figures are
determined according to the European Regulation (EC) 715/2007 in the
version applicable. The figures refer to a vehicle with basic
configuration in Germany. The range shown considers the different
sizes of the selected wheels/tyres and the selected items of optional
equipment, and may vary during configuration.
The
values are based on the new WLTP test cycle and are translated back
into NEDC-equivalent values in order to ensure comparability between
the vehicles. With respect to these vehicles, for vehicle-related
taxes or other duties based (at least inter alia) on CO2
emissions, the CO2 values may differ from the values stated
here (depending on national legislation).
Further
information on official fuel consumption figures and specific
CO2 emission values of new passenger cars is included in
to the fuel economy, CO2 emissions and electric power
consumption of new passenger cars), which can be obtained free of
charge from all dealerships, from Deutsche Automobil Treuhand GmbH
(DAT), Hellmuth-Hirth-Str. 1, 73760 Ostfildern-Scharnhausen and at https://www.dat.de/co2/.

///

Course car in the next MotoGP season will be based on the new BMW M5.

Optimised driving dynamics: first Safety Car with innovative M
xDrive technology.

Debut at the 2017 MotoGP season finale in Valencia.

Munich. Innovative high-performance cars for safety at the highest
level of motorcycle racing: the BMW M GmbH has remained true to this
principle throughout nearly 20 years of partnership with the MotoGP
organizer Dorna Sports, and as the “Official Car of MotoGP”. That is
especially true of the new BMW M5 MotoGP Safety Car, which the company
from Munich is presenting as the next highlight in the Safety Car
fleet. The new course car is based on the high-performance sedan BMW
M5 (combined consumption: 10.5 l/100 km*; combined CO2 emissions:
241 g/km*), which was showcased to the global public for the first
time in August. The new BMW M5 MotoGP Safety Car will debut at the
MotoGP season finale in Valencia, Spain (10
th to 12
th November) and will speerhead the
Safety Car fleet in the 2018 season.

“A MotoGP Safety Car faces enormous challenges. It is vital to lead a
field of unique, high-performance race prototypes safely through all
sorts of conditions,” said Frank van Meel, President of BMW M GmbH.
“Innovative motorsport technology is an essential part of this. The
new BMW M5 forms the perfect basis for a safety car, as its technical
features ensure perfect handling, even at the limits of driving
dynamics - on the road and on the racetrack. Development never stands
still in MotoGP, which is always pushing its limits further and
further. The same is true for the BMW M GmbH - and the new M5 MotoGP
Safety Car is an outstanding example of our pursuit of innovation and
maximum levels of performance.”

The features in question include the newly-developed M-specific
all-wheel drive M xDrive, which is being used in the BMW M5 for the
first time. With precise handling and perfect traction, this
guarantees optimised driving dynamics in all manner of situations. The
heart of the BMW M5, the 4.4-litre V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo
technology, has been completely overhauled by the M engineers. It
represents another significant increase in performance compared to
previous models, with 441 kW/600 HP and maximum torque of 750 Nm in
the production M5. The new BMW M5 only needs 3.4 seconds to accelerate
from 0 to 100 km/h. Transmission is provided by the new eight-speed M
Steptronic gearbox with Drivelogic. The chassis contains M-specific
kinematics and elastokinematics elements that contribute to optimised
driving dynamics. The weight also plays an important role in
performance. This has been reduced further through features such as
the lightweight carbon fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) roof.

Painstaking manual work at the BMW M Manufaktur in Garching converted
the high-performance base car into the BMW M5 MotoGP Safety Car,
preparing it to appear as the course car in the world’s fastest
motorcycle racing series. This process included the addition of
numerous BMW M Performance Parts, many of which are available as
retrofit parts for the BMW M5 production model. These emphasise the
sporty appearance of the Safety Car and meet all the functional
requirements for aerodynamics, cooling and lightweight construction.
These include various carbon components such as side sills, rear
diffusor, rear spoiler, front kidney grille, door mirror caps and air
breather slats. The BMW M Performance sport exhaust system is made of
titanium, with carbon exhaust tips, and has been designed specially
for use on the racetrack.

The transformation of the BMW M5 to a MotoGP Safety Car was completed
by the inclusion of special racing features and the necessary safety
equipment. The front splitter is a prototype developed specifically
for the BMW M5 MotoGP Safety Car. The bonnet latches are taken
directly from racing. The bucket seats from the BMW M4 GTS guarantee a
combination of comfort and maximum security for their occupants when
being in action on the racetrack. The flat light bar on the roof uses
modern LED technology. It is controlled via a specially-developed
cockpit panel. Another important signalling system is provided by the
flashing front lights, consisting of blue LED lamps in the front
grills and flashing corona rings for the headlamps.

The design of the new BMW M5 MotoGP Safety Cars also makes a clear
racing statement: it is inspired by the design of the new BMW M8 GTE
race car, which will compete for BMW at the 24 Hours of Le Mans next
year. Series developers from BMW M and the BMW Motorsport department
worked hand in hand on development of the BMW M8 GTE. The design
reflects this close cooperation.

The partnership between the BMW M GmbH and Dorna Sports dates back to
1999. The provision of the BMW M fleet is the core of the involvement
as “Official Car of MotoGP”. There are also a host of other
activities. The BMW M Award for the best MotoGP qualifier has been
presented at the end of every season since 2003. The BMW M MotoGP
Experience gives visitors the chance to experience the MotoGP at first
hand. The BMW M MotoGP experts give them exclusive insights. On
selected Grand Prix weekends, the BMW M GmbH presents its newest
models and products in on-site actions.

first encounter, Marek Červený (CZE / Wepol Safemetal Racing) took the
win. Team Penz13 BMW Motorrad’s Derek Sheils (IRL) was second, with Le
Grelle finishing third to secure the champion’s title. Four more RR
riders crossed the line within the top-ten: Didier Grams (GER /
G&G Motorsport by Todoracing) and Erno Kostamo (FIN / Markka
Racing) were fifth and sixth, while Petr Bičiště (CZE / Kimura Racing
Team), Danny Webb (GBR / Penz13 BMW Motorrad) and Kamil Holan (CZE /
Mc Race) finished in eighth to tenth position.

In race two, the BMW riders claimed a top-five lockout. Webb and
Sheils secured a 1-2 result for Penz13 BMW Motorrad, Le Grelle was
again third, followed by Grams and Červený. Kostamo was classified
seventh, Bičiště and Holan followed in ninth and tenth.

In the overall standings, Červený is second behind champion Le
Grelle, Grams follows in third and Kostamo is fourth.

Sébastien Le Grelle: “I am very happy to have won the
IRRC title. The championship is getting bigger and bigger. It is great
to have so many spectators following us and the atmosphere is always
fantastic. It is true that some tracks are pretty dangerous and one
must keep a cool head. I am satisfied with my season. The BMW S 1000
RR works great, it is very efficient and very pleasant to ride. Over
the entire season I did not have one mechanical problem. My Herpigny
Motors team is very professional and I want to thank them all. I
always rode with complete confidence in my bike.”

French Superbike Championship at Albi, France.

Three weeks after Kenny Foray’s (FRA) early title win, the final
round of the 2017 French Superbike Championship (FSBK) was held in
Albi (FRA). The season did not end as the newly crowned champion from
the Tecmas Racing Team had planned, however. Foray crashed in Friday’s
practice, suffered injuries to his right hand and had to sit out the
rest of the weekend. As a result, his team-mate Maxime Bonnot (FRA)
was the only BMW rider in the field. He finished the two races in
12th and ninth positions, claiming second place in the
Superbike Challenger class on both occasions.

French European Bikes Championship at Albi, France.

The French European Bikes Championship (FR EU) title was decided
between the brothers and team-mates Florian and Cyril Brunet-Lugardon
(both FRA / Gers Moto Vitesse Ordannaise). At the season finale, held
in Albi (FRA), Florian retained the upper hand in the brothers’ duel.
He secured the title in Saturday’s first race by taking his ninth win
of the season. Cyril experienced bad luck: while fighting with his
brother for the win and the title, his chain broke shortly before the
finish line. Florian Brunet-Lugardon then also took the win in race
two on Sunday. In the end, he was crowned champion with a total of 263
points and an advantage of 58 points, despite missing the second round
of the season due to injury.

In both races, Julien Brun (FRA / JB Racing Team) was second on the
podium behind winner Florian Brunet-Lugardon. Alexandre Leleu (FRA)
was fourth both times. Madjid Idres (FRA / Team ERT Motorshow) and
Pierre Roques (FRA) finished both races in fifth and sixth positions.

The BMW riders were a force of their own in the 2017 FR EU, taking
the top four positions in the championship standings. Florian and
Cyril Brunet-Lugardon are first and second, Brun is third and Michel
Amalric (FRA / Tecmas Racing Team) follows in fourth.

Florian Brunet-Lugardon: “It is great to have the
title. I am very happy. Especially that I succeeded in catching up
after my injury early in the season that forced me to sit out the
Nogaro races. Cyril unfortunately ran out of luck this weekend with a
broken chain and resulting mechanical problems but overall the entire
team and family can be happy with the season: first and second place
in the championship, you can’t expect any more!”

South African Motorcycle Road Racing Championship at Red Star
Raceway, South Africa.

The 2017 season of the South African Motorcycle Road Racing
Championship (RSA SBK) drew to a close with another podium finish for
a BMW rider. The final round was held at Red Star Raceway (RSA) at the
weekend. David McFadden (RSA / RPM Center Sandton Auto/BMW Motorrad)
secured third place on the rostrum in race two, after finishing
15th in the first encounter. Lance Isaacs (RSA / Supabets
Sandton BMW Motorrad) finished the two last races of the season in
eighth and seventh positions.

Italian Superbike Championship at Mugello, Italy.

The fifth and penultimate round of the 2017 Italian Superbike
Championship (CIV) was held at Mugello Circuit (ITA). Matteo Ferrari
(ITA / DMR Racing) was the highest placed BMW rider, finishing the
races in ninth and eighth positions. Lorenzo Lanzi (ITA / Tutapista
Corse) also secured a top-ten finish with tenth place in race one. In
the second race, however, he was one of the many riders who retired in
the wet and tricky conditions.

SuperBike Series Brasil at Curitiba, Brazil.

The SuperBike Series Brasil (BRSBK) held its sixth round of the 2017
season at Curitiba (BRA). This time, two races were contested. Danilo
Lewis (BRA / Tecfil Havoline Racing Team) was the highest placed BMW
rider. In the first race, he missed the podium only by one position,
crossing the line in fourth. In race two, Lewis was sixth. Joelsu
“Mitiko” (BRA / JC Racing Team) claimed two seventh places.

Contact presse: Christophe Weerts
Tél: +32-3-890-9708
Adresse e-mail: christophe.weerts@bmw.be

Press Release,Research & Development,Sustainability,BMW i,i3,Mobility of the future,I01,Sports,Product,BMW
