Munich / Beijing. At Auto China 2024 in Beijing, the BMW Group presents the latest progress in its change towards electrification, digitalisation and circularity. World premieres of new BMW and MINI models take centre stage. The BMW Vision Neue Klasse, which heralds the next generation of BMW vehicles, is on show for the first time in China.

„With the NEUE KLASSE, we are carrying BMW into the future: in design, technology and philosophy. It begins already next year when we will release the NEUE KLASSE onto the market. Not with niche models – but starting in our most successful, highest-volume segments,“ says Oliver Zipse, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG.

The BMW Vision Neue Klasse signals the start of a new era of individual mobility and provides a glimpse of the BMW brand's future model generation. It is rich in digital experiences, locally emission-free and circular in the long term to ensure typical BMW driving pleasure for future generations. Production of the Neue Klasse series models will start in 2025, initially at the BMW Group plant in Debrecen and shortly afterwards in China.

The brand's most popular electric vehicle worldwide is currently the BMW i4, the new version of which will celebrate its world premiere at Auto China 2024. The success of the BMW i4 confirms the BMW Group's open technology approach, which makes it possible to produce vehicles with purely electric drive systems and highly efficient combustion engines on a common platform. In Beijing, the new BMW i4 will be shown to the public for the first time together with the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé's combustion engine variants, which have also been further developed.

The world premiere of the MINI Aceman at Auto China 2024 marks the third member of the brand's new model family. The all-electric crossover model closes the gap between the new MINI Cooper and the new MINI Countryman.

"What the NEUE KLASSE is to BMW, the New MINI Family is to MINI: the most desirable product range in the history of the brand and the biggest investment we ever made in MINI. At just over four metres long, the Aceman embodies the basic idea of the original, iconic MINI of 1959: progressive design, optimal use of space and a minimal footprint.," said Jochen Goller, member of the Board of Management of BMW AG, responsible for Customer, Brand and Sales.

The Beijing International Automotive Exhibition, in short: Auto China, is one of the most important trade fairs in the international automotive industry. The 18th edition of the exhibition, which alternates with Auto Shanghai, will be held under the theme "New Era, New Cars" and will be open to the public from 25 April to 4 May 2024. At the China International Exhibition Centre in Beijing, car manufacturers, suppliers and service providers from all over the world will present their new models, products and technologies. The BMW Group brands will present their current product range on an exhibition area of around 2,000 square metres.

China premiere: The BMW Vision Neue Klasse.

The BMW Vision Neue Klasse combines the BMW Group's innovative strength and development expertise in the key future fields of electrification, digitalisation and circularity. A reinterpretation of the brand's typical design goes hand in hand with the progress embodied by the Vision vehicle. A clear design language reduced to the essentials with generous surfaces and few striking lines creates an almost monolithic body. Characteristic features such as the BMW radiator grille and the Hofmeister kink counter-swing on the C-pillar. are brought into even sharper focus.

In the interior, the next generation of BMW iDrive offers a unique digital user experience that merges the real and virtual worlds. It consistently puts the driver and his needs at the centre. In addition to the multifunction buttons on the steering wheel and the Central Display, the driver can interact with the vehicle using the innovative BMW Panoramic Vision. For the first time, it projects information across the entire width of the windscreen and is complemented in the Neue Klasse series by the enhanced BMW 3D Head-Up Display. Analogue controls are reduced to a minimum in the BMW Vision Neue Klasse.

The increased use of secondary raw materials, resource-conserving production methods and all-electric drive with sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology will reduce the CO₂ footprint of the Neue Klasse over the entire life cycle of the vehicles. In order to increase recyclability and take a decisive step towards a circular economy, the variety of materials used has also been reduced. An improved dismantling concept also helps to optimise the recycling of Neue Klasse vehicles.

World premiere: The new BMW i4, the new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé.

The appeal of pure electric premium mobility is also being consistently enhanced in the current model range of the BMW brand. The BMW i4 will be available in four model variants on the world's automotive markets as part of an extensive model revision. The Connected Home Charging Package for intelligent, solar- and load-optimised charging at home will be offered in the first pilot markets. The BMW i4 also offers the Plug & Charge Multi Contract function, which enables charging at fast charging stations without an app or card.

The latest advances in digitalisation are represented by the latest generation of BMW iDrive with QuickSelect based on BMW Operating System 8.5, which is available in both the new BMW i4 and the combustion engine models of the new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé. With the BMW Curved Display and the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, the enhanced BMW iDrive is consistently geared towards operation via touch functions and natural speech. The digital update in the new BMW i4 and the new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé is accompanied by a redesign of the instrument panel. New steering wheels, interior trims and seat upholstery add modern accents to the premium ambience of all model variants.

On the exterior, the sporty profile of the premium mid-range models, which are extremely successful with both all-electric and conventional drive systems, has been sharpened by the redesign of the BMW radiator grille and headlights. In conjunction with the optional adaptive LED headlights, all models also feature exclusive laser rear lights. The range of exterior colours for the BMW i4 and the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé has been extended to include the new Cape York Green metallic and Fire Red metallic variants. New aerodynamic 19-inch and 20-inch wheels are also available.

World premiere: the new MINI Aceman.

With its all-electric drive, progressive crossover proportions and innovative digital features, the new MINI Aceman brings fresh impetus to the premium small car segment. It combines the brand's hallmark agility with creative use of space and high functionality, making it the ideal companion in the city. With four doors and a large tailgate, the MINI Aceman is just over four metres long and offers room for five passengers and plenty of storage space for everyday use and weekend excursions.

As a character in its own right, the MINI Aceman appeals to customers who value the expression of individuality and personality in an urban environment. Its reduced, purist exterior design with clearly defined contours and strong edges is an expression of the new MINI design language "Charismatic Simplicity".

The intelligent interior concept maximises space by cleverly arranging seats and stowage compartments to make the most of the available room. The expressive and colourful interior design is made possible by the use of high-quality materials and innovative technologies such as the 3D knitting process for the textile surfaces. The MINI Interaction Unit with circular OLED display, MINI Experience Modes and dynamic projections on the dashboard and door sills provide a holistic user experience of light, motion, interaction and sound.

• Technology and design update for the all-electric BMW i4 and the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé. Pioneers in the field of locally emission-free driving pleasure and progressive aesthetics in the premium midsize segment now have even greater appeal. Premiere of a new BMW i4 variant with electric all-wheel drive. All combustion-engined variants of the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé now link up as standard with the eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission. Precise modifications for the exterior and interior. Upgraded BMW iDrive with QuickSelect and additional digital services.
• Most successful body variant of the BMW 4 Series range brings new features enhancing sense of sporting elegance. Interior has premium ambience with renewed sophistication; additions to standard equipment, newly structured options list.
• BMW i4 and BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé are trailblazers for BMW’s flexible drive system architecture. Production of all model variants will take place at BMW Group Plant Munich. Worldwide market launch of the new models gets underway in July 2024. The most important sales markets are the USA, Germany, Great Britain and China.
• Front view has increased presence thanks to a newly designed BMW kidney grille with a surface that is half enclosed (BMW i4) / has a mesh structure. Grille surround in matt chrome as standard or Black high-gloss as an option.
• Strikingly designed headlights with a new structure for the LED units. Vertical light sources for the side light, daytime driving light and turn signal indicator functions. New Welcome Light Animation in cars with the optional Comfort Access. Adaptive LED Headlights with non-dazzling matrix high beam, urban lights and exclusive Laserlight rear lights in the style of the BMW M4 CSL can be specified as an option.
• Optional M Sport package and M Performance models with M-specific design features. M Sport package now with rear diffuser element in Black high-gloss and exhaust tailpipes now with larger, 100-millimetre diameter. M Sport package Pro and M Carbon exterior package available ex factory; model-specific BMW M Performance Parts can be specified from the Original BMW Accessories range.
• New Cape York metallic and Fire Red metallic added to the range of exterior paint finishes. Extensive selection of BMW Individual paint finishes and BMW Individual special paint finishes. Additional scope for individualisation thanks to new 19-inch M aerodynamic wheels and 20-inch BMW Individual aerodynamic wheels in double-spoke design.
• Progressive and sporty interior with BMW Curved Display and newly designed steering wheels. Two-spoke steering wheel with polygonal rim and illuminated multifunction buttons as standard. Optional M leather steering wheel in three-spoke design with a flat-bottomed rim and a discreet centre marking in the 12 o’clock position or with a red centre marker and decorative stitching in BMW M colours for the M Performance models. Combustion-engined models now have gearshift paddles on the steering wheel as standard.
• Sport seats in Sensatec perforated are standard. Black seat surfaces in new M Performtex are part of the M Sport package or come as standard in the M Performance models. Optional Vernasca leather upholstery with decorative quilting now also offered in the new bi-colour variant Black/Red. BMW Individual Merino leather trim in three colours can also be specified as an option.
• Instrument panel with reduced number of buttons and controls due to consistent digitalisation. The ventilation and climate control functions and optional seat and steering wheel heating can now be operated by touch via the control display, by voice command and – in the case of the ventilation – using the new adjustment controls for the air vents.
• New interior trim elements in Dark Graphite matt are standard. Optional M Sport package includes interior strips in Aluminium Rhombicle Anthracite.
• Additions to standard specification for the new BMW i4 and new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé also include ambient lighting – with additional contour lighting integrated around the new central seam vents – and the interior and exterior mirror package. Optional instrument panel Luxury in Sensatec with a further refined surface structure. Also new: CraftedClarity glass applications for selected controls.
• Four-door coupé vehicle concept offers a consistent balance of practicality, everyday usability and long-distance capability – with either an electric or a conventional drive system. Five seats and a large, high-opening boot lid; boot capacity of all variants of the BMW i4 and BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé can be expanded from 470 litres to a maximum 1,290 litres.
• Fully electric BMW i4 now available in four model variants. New BMW i4 xDrive40 with electric all-wheel drive, maximum system output of 295 kW/401 hp and a range of 444 – 548 kilometres (276 – 341 miles) in the WLTP cycle. Also in the line-up: the range-topping BMW i4 M50 xDrive, the BMW i4 eDrive40 and the BMW i4 eDrive35.
• Combined Charging Unit for the BMW i4 enables AC charging at a maximum rate of 11 kW and DC charging at up to 205 kW (BMW i4 eDrive35: 180 kW). All variants of the BMW i4 now suitable for Connected Home Charging in the initial group of pilot markets: solar-optimised and load-optimised charging are possible, likewise (as the scheme expands further) cost-optimised charging using a dynamic electricity tariff. Plug & Charge Multi Contract enables convenient charging mid-journey.
• New BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé available with a variety of engines. Range includes the 275 kW/374 hp six-cylinder in-line petrol engine in the BMW M440i xDrive Gran Coupé, plus two four-cylinder petrol engines, a six-cylinder in-line diesel unit and a four-cylinder diesel. The six-cylinder in-line engines and the four-cylinder diesel unit have 48V mild hybrid technology. Eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission standard for all engine variants. Engine power is transferred to the road either via classical rear-wheel drive or the BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system, depending on the model.
• New BMW i4 and new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé display the brand’s familiar sporty handling and well resolved driving characteristics at all times thanks to model-specific tuning for the chassis technology. Electromechanical steering with Servotronic function, an integrated braking system and near-actuator wheel slip limitation all come as standard. M Sport suspension, adaptive M suspension with variable sport steering and M Sport brakes can be added to models equipped with the M Sport package. BMW i4 is equipped as standard with rear air suspension.
• Extensive selection of assistance systems for safe and comfortable driving and parking. Standard equipment includes Speed Limit Info, front collision warning, Parking Assistant, Reversing Assist Camera and the Reversing Assistant. Driving Assistant Professional with Steering and Lane Control Assistant and Active Cruise Control with Stop&Go function, plus Parking Assistant Plus available as options.
• Standard equipment for the new BMW i4 and new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé includes BMW iDrive with QuickSelect based on BMW Operating System 8.5. Intuitive and user-friendly operation via touch on the control display and natural language. New home screen with vertically arranged function symbols on a single level. QuickSelect rapid access enables direct selection of functions without having to enter submenus. Menu bar at the lower edge of the control display now also allows direct access to climate control functions. BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant now offers additional languages and new graphics.
• Standard BMW Live Cockpit Plus with cloud-based BMW Maps navigation system. Optimised and precise charging-optimised route guidance for the BMW i4 is unique in this segment. Optional BMW Live Cockpit Professional additionally includes the BMW Head-Up Display and Augmented View on the control display or instrument cluster.
• Simplified initial sign-in in the vehicle and synchronisation with the BMW ID by scanning a QR code with a smartphone. My BMW App enables overview of the vehicle status and various remote functions. It is also possible to control the charging process and pre-conditioning for the BMW i4 via the My BMW App.

La production des nouvelles BMW Série 4 Coupé et Cabrio restera à l’usine BMW Group de Dingolfing, qui est également le lieu de naissance de nombreuses autres voitures de luxe et de classe affaires de la marque, ainsi que de la BMW Série 8 Sport et des modèles BMW M4 hautes performances. Leur lancement sur le marché mondial débutera en mars 2024.

Depuis le lancement de la génération actuelle de la BMW Série 4 Coupé, le marché américain a enregistré la plus forte demande. À ce jour, la BMW Série 4 Cabrio a également été la plus populaire aux États-Unis.

Ce succès commercial s’est accompagné d’un niveau de satisfaction client extraordinairement élevé. Dans les enquêtes menées auprès des clients, la BMW Série 4 Coupé et la BMW Série 4 Cabrio obtiennent d'excellentes notes. Au cours des deux dernières générations de modèles, BMW a regroupé ses coupés et cabriolets de taille moyenne haut de gamme dans sa propre gamme de modèles. Avec leurs lignes distinctives et leur traitement de surface épuré proposés dans le langage stylistique moderne de la marque, les coupés et cabriolets de la gamme BMW Série 4 dégagent un plaisir de conduire et un style inimitable. Les spécificités du pack M Sport en option ajoutent une touche supplémentaire à l’allure dynamique des véhicules. Elles comprennent un élément diffuseur situé dans la partie inférieure du pare-chocs arrière, qui est désormais peint en Black high-gloss. La structure prismatique des unités LED pour les feux urbains offre un contraste saisissant par rapport à l’éclairage uniforme des unités de feux de jour.

Les phares M Shadowline avec des accents intérieurs foncés sont également proposés dans le cadre du pack M Sport Pro et si les phares adaptatifs à LED sont choisis. Si l’accès confort en option est installé, les phares génèrent une animation lumineuse d’accueil lorsque le conducteur accompagné de sa clé se trouve à moins de trois mètres de la voiture.

Les modèles BMW Série 4 Coupé et Cabrio équipés de phares adaptatifs à LED sont également dotés de feux arrière Laserlight ultra expressifs. Cette version spécifique au modèle d’un effet d’éclairage innovant utilise une technologie observée pour la première fois dans l’édition spéciale haute performance BMW M4 CSL produite en série limitée à 1 000 exemplaires. Nouvelles teintes de carrosserie et jantes en alliage léger.

Les clients peuvent ajouter une touche personnelle à l'extérieur de leurs nouvelles BMW Série 4 Coupé et Cabrio en choisissant parmi deux teintes unies et huit teintes métallisées. Cape York Green metallic et Fire Red metallic viennent compléter la gamme. Une grande variété de teintes BMW Individual et de teintes spéciales BMW Individual est également proposée.

De nouveaux ajouts attrayants se trouvent également dans la sélection de jantes en alliage léger en option. Le grand BMW Curved Display offre une réinterprétation particulièrement moderne de l'accent placé sur le conducteur, qui fait la renommée de la marque. Des matériaux de haute qualité et minutieusement travaillés ainsi qu’un nouveau concept de fonctionnement pour les systèmes de ventilation et de climatisation renforcent l’allure haut de gamme du poste de conduite. Les volants de dernière génération disponibles pour les nouvelles BMW Série 4 Coupé et Cabrio se distinguent par leur design moderne et sportif. De série, le conducteur trouvera devant lui un nouveau volant sport en cuir avec une jante polygonale et deux branches. Le pack M Sport propose désormais un volant M en cuir à trois branches avec une jante à fond plat et un marquage central discret.

Les deux versions de ce volant inédit sont dotées de boutons multifonctions éclairés et de palettes de changement de vitesse. Désormais montées de série, ces palettes permettent des interventions manuelles particulièrement rapides durant le processus de sélection des rapports et soulignent le profil sportif plus affûté des nouveaux modèles BMW Série 4.

Détails revisités sur le tableau de bord, climatisation numérique.

L’introduction du nouveau BMW iDrive avec QuickSelect améliore également l’usage des fonctions de ventilation et de climatisation des nouvelles BMW Série 4 Coupé et Cabrio. Un excellent exemple de numérisation avancée à l’œuvre qui permet de réduire encore davantage le nombre de boutons et de commandes physiques dans le poste de conduite. La sélection de la température, l'intensité de la ventilation et, si les fonctionnalités pertinentes sont commandées, le chauffage des sièges et du volant peut désormais être réglé au toucher via le BMW Curved Display ou par commande vocale à l'aide du BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant. De nouvelles commandes de réglage des grilles d’aération situées au centre du tableau de bord et sur les côtés conducteur et passager avant du poste de conduite permettent de régler le sens du flux d’air par des mouvements de rotation et d’inclinaison. La finition Sensatec en option pour le tableau de bord signifie que les clients trouveront désormais une structure de surface encore plus raffinée qui souligne davantage l’ambiance haut de gamme moderne de l’habitacle.

L’éclairage d’ambiance de série des nouvelles BMW Série 4 Coupé et Cabrio inclut désormais un éclairage de contour intégré à la garniture autour des ouïes d’aération centrales. À l’instar de l’éclairage de l’espace aux pieds, du compartiment de rangement situé dans la partie avant de la console centrale et des ouvre-portes, il peut être ajusté en fonction de la couleur et de la luminosité selon les préférences personnelles. Les utilisateurs peuvent choisir parmi neuf couleurs. La fonctionnalité de l’éclairage intérieur comprend également une animation d’accueil et d’au revoir atmosphérique et des signaux lumineux indiquant une porte ouverte ou un appel téléphonique entrant.

Les sièges sport de série sont combinés à des surfaces intérieures en Sensatec perforé. La garniture en cuir Vernasca avec matelassage décoratif disponible en option pour les nouvelles BMW Série 4 Coupé et Cabrio est désormais également proposée dans la nouvelle variante bicolore noir/rouge. Les deux modèles peuvent également être commandés avec une garniture en cuir BMW Individual Merino en trois coloris.

Commandée avec le pack M Sport ou en version M Performance, la nouvelle BMW Série 4 Coupé est dotée de surfaces de sièges en finition noire M Performtex. Pour la première fois sur un modèle BMW, ce revêtement en velours allie une haute qualité de matériaux et un design sportif à un faible poids et une méthode de production optimisée pour la durabilité.

Nouveaux inserts de décoration, touches exclusives avec CraftedClarity.

Le choix des inserts de décoration intérieurs disponibles a lui aussi été revu en profondeur, avec une finition mate Dark Graphite de série pour les nouvelles BMW Série 4 Coupé et Cabrio. Le pack M Sport comprend des garnitures intérieures en aluminium Rhombicle Anthracite. La liste d’options inclut en outre des garnitures en bois noble Fineline Light à pores ouverts et Grey Blue Ash à pores ouverts, ainsi qu’une garniture intérieure M en fibre de carbone.

L’utilisation de matériaux de qualité supérieure permet également d’inclure des touches distinctives dans d’autres zones de l’habitacle afin de renforcer son caractère haut de gamme moderne. Les moteurs six cylindres en ligne s’invitent sous le capot des versions M Performance des deux séries de modèles (voir chapitre séparé), ainsi que des nouvelles BMW 430d xDrive Coupé et BMW 430d Cabrio, dont le moteur diesel développe une puissance de 210 kW/286 ch. La gamme comprend également deux moteurs essence quatre cylindres développant respectivement 135 kW/184 ch et 180 kW/245 ch et un quatre cylindres diesel de 140 kW/190 ch. La puissance du moteur est transmise à la route via une propulsion classique ou le système de transmission intégrale intelligente BMW xDrive, selon la variante du modèle.

L’entraînement électrique auxiliaire se présente sous la forme d’un générateur-démarreur 48 V et permet une puissance instantanée de 8 kW/11 ch en réponse au moindre mouvement de l’accélérateur. Ce coup de pouce électrique améliore la réponse dynamique du système d’entraînement lors des accélérations en départ arrêté et à mi-régime. L’unité d’entraînement électrique assiste également le moteur à vitesse constante, ce qui lui permet de fonctionner le plus souvent possible dans une plage de charge optimisée en termes d’efficacité.

Le système hybride léger permet en outre d’utiliser l’énergie électrique récupérée via le Brake Energy Regeneration et stockée dans une batterie de 48 V. L'énergie ainsi récupérée efficacement n'est pas seulement utilisée pour l'entraînement électrique auxiliaire, mais est également transmise au système électrique 12 V à l'aide d'un transformateur de tension. Le résultat : une utilisation encore plus efficace des consommateurs électriques du véhicule.

La gamme de systèmes de conduite et de stationnement automatisés est tout aussi étendue. Les nouvelles BMW Série 4 Coupé et Cabrio sont équipées de série du système d’alerte de collision avant avec intervention sur les freins, du régulateur de vitesse avec fonction de freinage, du Speed Limit Info avec indicateur d’interdiction de dépassement, du Speed Limit Assist manuel et du Lane Departure Warning avec retour dans la voie. Les modèles M Performance de la BMW Série 4 sont disponibles avec des moteurs essence et diesel, chacun d’une cylindrée de 3,0 litres. Les attributs de performance typiques de la gamme M de ces six cylindres en ligne sont soutenus, entre autres, par la dernière technologie M TwinPower Turbo, qui est adaptée individuellement au moteur utilisé. Autre point commun, la technologie mild hybrid 48 V, dont la puissance de 8 kW/11 ch produit un effet boost électrique qui confère aux moteurs une réponse encore plus vive.

Le moteur essence six cylindres en ligne des modèles BMW M440i xDrive Coupé et BMW M440i xDrive Cabrio développe une puissance maximale de 275 kW/374 ch et un couple maximal de 500 Nm (369 lb-pi). Les modèles BMW M440d xDrive Coupé et BMW M440d xDrive Cabrio, quant à eux, sont propulsés par un moteur diesel six cylindres en ligne qui génère une puissance maximale de 250 kW/340 ch et un couple maximal de 700 Nm (516 lb-pi). La suspension M Sport avec direction sport variable figure sur la liste des équipements de série des modèles haut de gamme, ainsi qu’une boîte de vitesses Steptronic Sport à huit rapports avec une action de changement de vitesse ultra-précise, les freins M Sport et le différentiel M Sport.

Nouvelle calandre BMW, embouts d'échappement noirs de série.

Un éventail de détails de design triés sur le volet annonce encore plus clairement le caractère dynamique des modèles M Performance. Par exemple, la nouvelle édition de ces modèles comprend une calandre BMW avec un contour en Black high-gloss et des barres horizontales ornées d'un logo M. L'écran d'accueil du nouveau système d'exploitation BMW 8.5 affiche en permanence la vue cartographique du système de navigation ou d'autres graphiques configurables individuellement sur l'écran de commande. De même, des widgets sont disposés verticalement du côté conducteur de l’écran. Le conducteur peut passer d’un widget à l’autre d’un simple mouvement du doigt. La fonctionnalité QuickSelect permet d’activer directement la fonction ainsi sélectionnée sans avoir à entrer dans un sous-menu. Et une fois les paramètres pertinents choisis, il suffit d'appuyer rapidement sur l'icône d'accueil située sur le bord inférieur de l'écran de contrôle pour revenir à l'écran d'accueil. Des icônes offrant un accès direct au menu de climatisation, au menu Toutes les applications et, si elles sont activées, à Apple CarPlay^® et Android Auto™ se situent également à côté de l’icône d’accueil.

La nouvelle structure de menu plate facilite grandement l’activation des fonctions et paramètres souhaités. Le contenu numérique , tout comme le matériel, sous la forme du BMW Curved Display , est conçu pour renforcer l’attention du conducteur, une caractéristique qui fait la renommée de BMW.

Système de navigation BMW Maps avec Augmented View.

Le système de navigation BMW Maps basé sur le cloud fait partie du BMW Live Cockpit Plus de série. Suite à l’introduction du système d’exploitation BMW 8.5 dans les nouvelles BMW Série 4 Coupé et Cabrio, il facilite désormais la saisie des destinations et est en mesure d’offrir des informations supplémentaires pendant la conduite.

Les conducteurs des nouvelles BMW Série 4 Coupé et Cabrio trouveront également plus facile d'utiliser leur BMW ID pour personnaliser l'expérience utilisateur. À l’avenir, il suffira de se connecter au véhicule à l’aide d’un smartphone pour scanner un code QR afin d’importer le profil personnel du client, de charger les paramètres synchronisables et de lier automatiquement la clé détectée dans le véhicule au BMW ID.

Le véhicule est également ajouté à l’application My BMW sans que le client ait à faire quoi que ce soit. Disponible gratuitement dans les App Stores pour iOS et Android, l’application My BMW fait office d’interface numérique universelle qui fournit à tout moment des informations sur l’état du véhicule, par exemple sur son autonomie restante et sur les besoins d’entretien et de maintenance. Selon les spécifications du véhicule, elle permet également de commander à distance des fonctions telles que la localisation du véhicule, le verrouillage et le déverrouillage des portes ou la surveillance de l’environnement immédiat et de l’intérieur du véhicule avec Remote View. Les clients des nouvelles BMW Série 4 Coupé et Cabriol peuvent activer l’eSIM personnelle de série, en plus de la carte SIM mobile intégrée au véhicule. Elle permet au véhicule d’utiliser la norme de communications mobiles 5G. L’eSIM personnelle permet au client d’utiliser facilement les fonctions de communication et de connectivité couvertes par son contrat mobile depuis sa voiture, même dans des situations où il n’a pas son smartphone. Cela inclut également le streaming de données via le hotspot WiFi.

Une connexion à faible rayonnement à l’antenne extérieure du véhicule sert à passer des appels téléphoniques et diffuser des données via l’eSIM personnelle. Toutes les fonctions du téléphone peuvent être utilisées avec le système BMW iDrive ou le BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant. Les conducteurs en Allemagne ont également la possibilité de régler numériquement leurs factures de carburant après avoir fait le plein dans les stations-service partenaires. Munich. For the third time in a row, BMW M GmbH ended the financial year as the global market leader in the performance and high-performance car segment. Indeed, the company posted record sales once again in 2021. A total of 163,542 BMW M cars were delivered to customers worldwide last year, a 13 percent increase on 2020.

This growth was spread equally between the High-Performance sports cars and Performance cars made by BMW M GmbH, with both product categories raising their sales figures to a new level. “This success is the perfect start to our anniversary year,” says Franciscus van Meel, CEO of BMW M GmbH. “M is in a stronger position than ever as it celebrates its 50th birthday.”

New BMW M3 and new BMW M4 enjoy immediate success.

The biggest drivers of growth among the High-Performance sports cars were the new BMW M3 and BMW M4 models introduced in spring 2021. Fuelled by a vehicle concept focused squarely on emotionally charged dynamism and unprecedented diversity in the model range, the new BMW M3 Sedan (fuel consumption combined: 10.2 – 10.0 l/100 km [27.7 – 28.3 mpg imp]; CO₂ emissions combined: 231 – 227 g/km as per WLTP), new BMW M4 Coupé (fuel consumption combined: 10.1 – 9.9 l/100 km [28.0 – 28.5 mpg imp]; CO₂ emissions combined: 230 – 226 g/km as per WLTP) and new BMW M4 Convertible (fuel consumption combined: 10.2 l/100 km [27.7 mpg imp]; CO₂ emissions combined: 233 – 231 g/km as per WLTP) got off to an extremely successful start. The latest model generation is the first to offer customers two output levels topping out at 375 kW/510 hp, the M xDrive all-wheel-drive system and a choice of either a six-speed manual gearbox or the eight-speed M Steptronic transmission.

“The response to the new generation of the BMW M3 and BMW M4 has been simply overwhelming,” reports Timo Resch, Vice President Customer, Brand and Sales at BMW M GmbH. “We can therefore expect demand for these iconic sports cars to continue on an upward curve in 2022.”

Also making a powerful contribution to the latest rise in High-Performance model sales at BMW M GmbH were the BMW X5 M Competition (fuel consumption combined: 13.6 – 13.3 l/100 km [20.8 – 21,2 mpg imp]; CO₂ emissions combined: 308 – 303 g/km as per WLTP) and BMW X6 M Competition (fuel consumption combined: 13.4 – 13.1 l/100 km [21.1 – 21.6 mpg imp]; CO₂ emissions combined: 305 – 299 g/km as per WLTP). Following the successful market launch of the latest model generation the previous year, the charismatic High-Performance sports cars in the Sports Activity Vehicle and Sports Activity Coupé segment – both powered by a 460 kW/625 hp V8 engine – increased their sales figures once again in 2021.

Alluring and in demand: the BMW M models in the BMW 4 Series range.

The dynamic excellence, agility and precision for which M is renowned also enabled the brand’s Performance models to delight and excite a wide range of customers over the past year. Credit for the latest boost to sales goes above all to the M models based on the new BMW 4 Series. Particularly popular were the variants of the new BMW 4 Series Coupé, whose line-up consists of the BMW M440i Coupé (fuel consumption combined: 8.1 – 7.4 l/100 km [34.8 – 38.2 mpg imp]; CO₂ emissions combined: 184 – 167 g/km as per WLTP) and BMW M440i xDrive Coupé (fuel consumption combined: 8.2 – 7.5 l/100 km [34.5 – 37.7 mpg imp]; CO₂ emissions combined: 186 – 170 g/km as per WLTP) powered by a 275 kW/374 hp six-cylinder in-line petrol engine, and the BMW M440d xDrive Coupé (fuel consumption combined: 6.3 – 5.7 l/100 km [44.8 – 49.6 mpg imp]; CO₂ emissions combined: 165 – 150 g/km as per WLTP), whose six-cylinder in-line diesel unit produces 250 kW/340 hp.

The latest BMW X models within the ranks of M’s Performance cars also proved extremely desirable. Indeed, the BMW X3 M40i powered by a six-cylinder in-line engine with 265 kW/360 hp (fuel consumption combined: 9.5 – 8.8 l/100 km [29.7 – 32.1 mpg imp]; CO₂ emissions combined: 216 – 199 g/km as per WLTP) and the BMW X7 M50i (fuel consumption combined: 12.8 – 12.3 l/100 km [22.1 – 23.0 mpg imp]; CO₂ emissions combined: 292 – 280 g/km as per WLTP) with its 390 kW/530 hp V8 unit both posted an increase in new registrations.

Looking ahead to an anniversary year brimming with highlights.

BMW M GmbH will continue its product offensive in this anniversary year with the addition of new High-Performance and Performance models. Highlights include the new BMW M240i xDrive Coupé (fuel consumption combined: 8.8 – 8.1 l/100 km [32.1 – 34.9 mpg imp]; CO₂ emissions combined: 200 – 185 g/km as per WLTP) and the arrival later in the year of the first BMW M3 Touring and an exclusive special-edition model based on the new BMW M4 Coupé.

In addition, the BMW Group subsidiary – which was founded as BMW Motorsport GmbH in May 1972 and enjoys the status of an independent manufacturer – will also drive the transformation to electric mobility. Following in the tyre tracks of the BMW i4 M50 (electric power consumption combined: 22.5 – 18.0 kWh/100 km as per WLTP; CO₂ emissions combined: 0 g/km) in the first half of 2022 will be the likewise fully electric BMW iX M60 (projected electric power consumption combined: 24.7 – 21.7 kWh/100 km as per WLTP; CO₂ emissions combined: 0 g/km).

The most powerful BMW M model ever made points the way to the future of the brand.

The anniversary year will be crowned by the start of production of the BMW XM. The most powerful BMW M car ever to go into series production is also the brand’s first High-Performance model to employ a plug-in hybrid drive system. Its newly developed M Hybrid technology brings together a V8 engine and a high-performance electric motor to develop maximum output of 550 kW/750 hp and peak torque of 1,000 Nm (737 lb-ft). The design of the BMW XM majors on presence and extrovert appeal and in so doing sends out a clear statement in the luxury segment.

“Our first standalone model since the legendary BMW M1 represents a complete re-imagining of the high-performance car segment,” says van Meel. “The BMW XM blends expressive design and progressive interior luxury with an incomparable driving experience that serves up both sublime performance and the ability to glide along in near silence in all-electric mode. In so doing, it provides an inimitable expression of poise and assurance, and at the same time points the way to the future of our brand.”

Munich. The sales launch of the BMW iX and the BMW i4 in November 2021 marks the beginning of a new era of purely electric premium mobility. In addition to sustainable driving pleasure, the two new models also offer the latest innovations in the field of driver assistance systems and, with the new generation of the BMW iDrive operating system, represent the future of intuitive interaction between driver and vehicle. Parallel to this, the BMW model range will also undergo targeted further development in autumn 2021. Additional drive variants and innovations in the areas of design and digital services increase the diversity and attractiveness of the current range.

The model range of the new BMW 4 Series Convertible will be expanded by three new drive variants from November 2021. In future, an 8-speed Steptronic transmission will be standard equipment for one additional model variant each of the BMW X1 and the BMW X2. New paint finishes are available for the BMW 1 Series, BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé, BMW X2, BMW X3 and BMW X4 models. The functional scope of the My BMW App is complemented by further digital services. The BMW i brand is not only setting trends with its two new models. The pioneer of all-electric premium mobility, the BMW i3, will be offered in a limited Unique Forever Edition from November 2021. And in the BMW iX3, a predictive battery heat management system will optimise the way in which DC fast charging stations will be used in the future.

BMW 4 Series Convertible: Two additional BMW M automobiles and a further all-wheel drive model.
The combination of sporty performance and open-air pleasure in a BMW 4 Series model will be enriched even further in autumn 2021. In the new BMW M 440i Convertible (combined fuel consumption: 8.3 – 7.7 l/100 km according to WLTP; combined CO₂ emissions: 190 - 175 g/km according to WLTP), a 275 kW/374 hp inline 6-cylinder petrol engine with 48-volt mild hybrid technology ensures particularly purist driving pleasure by transferring its power to the rear wheels. An 8-speed Steptronic sports transmission and an M sports differential in the final drive also contribute to the thrilling driving dynamics as standard. This is reflected, among other things, by accerlation from 0 - 100 km/h from standstill in 5.2 seconds.

An inline 6-cylinder diesel engine and the intelligent BMW xDrive all-wheel drive system make the second new BMW M automobile a thrilling open-top drive. With a peak output of 250 kW/340 hp, a maximum torque of 700 Nm and 48-volt mild hybrid technology, the new BMW M440d xDrive Convertible (combined fuel consumption: 6.6 – 6.0 l/100 km according to WLTP; combined CO₂ emissions: 172 - 157 g/km according to WLTP) has impressive pulling power. 5.0 seconds are sufficient for the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h. An 8-speed Steptronic sports transmission and an M sports differential are also standard equipment in this model variant.

In addition, the model range for the open-top four-seater in the premium mid-size segment is expanded to include the new BMW 430i xDrive Convertible (combined fuel consumption: 8.1 – 7.3 l/100 km according to WLTP; combined CO₂ emissions: 183 - 166 g/km according to WLTP). With its 180 kW/245 hp 4-cylinder petrol engine, an 8-speed Steptronic transmission and intelligent all-wheel drive, it accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 6.3 seconds. The 8-speed Steptronic sports transmission and the M sports differential are optionally available for this model.

BMW X1 xDrive18d and BMW X2 xDrive18d now feature 8-speed Steptronic transmission as standard.
Driving pleasure and comfort will be enhanced in autumn 2021 as the 8-speed Steptronic transmission is included in further model variants of the BMW X1 and BMW X2 as standard. The fast and efficient automatic transmission is characterised by a high level of shifting comfort and a particularly favourable internal efficiency. In future, it will also be available as standard with the 110 kW/150 hp 4-cylinder diesel engine of the BMW X1 xDrive18d models (combined fuel consumption: 6.1 – 5.4 l/100 km according to WLTP; combined CO₂ emissions: 159 – 142 g/km according to WLTP) and the BMW X2 xDrive18d (combined fuel consumption: 6.1 – 5.4 l/100 km according to WLTP; combined CO₂ emissions: 160 - 142 g/km according to WLTP).

With the new drive combination, both models accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 9.4 seconds. An optional 8-speed Steptronic sports transmission is also available, operated by paddle shifts on the steering wheel.

New paint finishes for numerous model series.
New paint finishes for numerous current BMW models allow for additional customisation opportunities. The Skyscraper Grey metallic variant will be available for the BMW 1 Series, the BMW X2 and the BMW X3 from November 2021. Also new to the range are the BMW Individual paint finishes Frozen Pure Grey metallic for the BMW 1 Series and the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé, as well as Aventurine Red metallic for the BMW X3 and the BMW X4.

My BMW App with extended range of functions.
Planning travel routes and transferring them to the car, receiving information about the car’ status and live images from its surroundings, arranging service appointments or receiving news from the brand - the My BMW app makes all this possible on the customer's smartphone. It serves as a universal interface for communication between car and customer, the BMW brand and the BMW dealer. The range of functions of the My BMW App will be expanded again in autumn 2021. In future, for example, the images transmitted by the Remote 3D View service will be stored in a gallery, including information about the location and time of the shots. The status of the vehicle's air conditioning and ventilation is now also clearly displayed in the My BMW app.

In addition, the My BMW app now also provides drivers with comprehensive information on the condition of the vehicle's tyres on their smartphone. This new feature helps to minimise the risk of breakdowns and is available for the BMW 1 Series, BMW 3 Series and BMW 4 Series models, the new BMW 2 Series Coupé, the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé, the BMW Z4 as well as the BMW X5, BMW X6 and BMW X7. The My BMW app displays the wheel-specific values as measured by the tyre pressure system. In addition, the digital tyre diagnosis, which is unique in the competitive environment, can also transmit information about a defect or wear of the tyres via the My BMW app. In the BMW backend, the data from the tyre pressure control system is processed together with the values for temperature and wheel speeds to create a forecast of the remaining life of the tyres. As a supplement to tyre pressure control, indications of tyre damage are also registered.

Intelligent battery heat management for the BMW iX3.
To ensure the fastest and most efficient power feed at DC fast-charging stations, regardless of operating and outside temperatures, the BMW iX3 (combined power consumption: 19.0 - 18.6 L/100 km according to WLTP, 18.5 - 18.9 L/100 km according to NEDC) will be equipped with intelligent thermal management for the high-voltage battery as in the BMW i4 / BMW iX from November 2021. As soon as the active route guidance of the navigation system foresees a stopover at a High Power Charging Station, it already ensures that the battery is automatically preconditioned before arrival.

The appropriate heating or cooling ensures that the high-voltage battery is at the ideal temperature for charging at maximum power on arrival. The thermal management takes into account, among other things, the battery temperature, the remaining range, the predicted charging power and the planned scope of the charging process as part of the overall route calculation.

BMW i3 and BMW i3s in the Unique Forever Edition.
From November 2021, the BMW i3 models (combined electricity consumption: 16.3 - 15.3 L/100 km according to WLTP, 13.1 L/100 km according to NEDC and BMW i3s (combined electricity consumption: 16.6 - 16.3 L/100 km according to WLTP, 14.6 - 14.0 L/100 km according to NEDC) in the Unique Forever Edition. The naming of the new special edition refers to the unique character of the world's first premium automobile designed from the outset for purely electric mobility. The BMW i3 represents a holistic understanding of sustainability not only with its drive system, but also with its particularly lightweight passenger cell made of carbon fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) and extensive use of natural and recycled materials in its interior. Eight years after being launched on the market, it is still a globally recognised symbol of locally emission-free urban mobility.

The edition vehicles are characterised by particularly high-grade and exclusive design and equipment features. The two BMW Individual paint finishes, available for the first time for the BMW i3, ensure a stylish appearance. The Aventurine Red metallic variant is combined with an accent in Frozen Grey metallic and the Storm Bay metallic paint finish with an accent in Frozen E-Copper. The interior surfaces of the BMW grille are also finished in the respective accent colour. Other special features include the omission of the trim strip and model lettering on the luggage compartment lid and a black insert for the rear bumper. In the interior of the edition vehicles, the contents of the Suite equipment world - including the Vernasca Dark Truffle leather combination, the leather instrument panel, the fine wood surface in dark matt oak, the leather steering wheel, the Carum grey roof lining and the ambient lighting - are supplemented by specific design elements. The front headrests are embroidered with the words "Unique Forever", the door trim panels in the area of the exterior mirrors bear the inscription "One of 2,000“.

The Unique Forever Edition models are produced in a limited edition of 2,000 units at the BMW plant in Leipzig. Only electricity generated by the wind turbines on the factory premises is used.

Un accès confortable à l’habitacle arrière, cinq sièges de taille normale, un grand hayon et un compartiment à bagages à usage variable permettent à la nouvelle BMW Série 4 Gran Coupé de conserver les compétences propres au modèle en conduite quotidienne et sur les longs trajets.

Une version haute performance de la nouvelle BMW Série 4 Gran Coupé, proposée par BMW M GmbH, sera également disponible dès le lancement du véhicule sur le marché (prévu en novembre 2021) avec quatre autres modèles. Tous seront construits selon des processus de fabrication très flexibles à l’usine BMW de Munich, sur la même chaîne que les modèles électriques BMW i4, BMW Série 3 Berline et BMW Série 3 Touring.

Proportions particulières, habitacle extrêmement polyvalent.

Le caractère pionnier de la nouvelle BMW Série 4 Gran Coupé transparaît également clairement dans son design extérieur. Longue de 4783 mm, large de 1852 mm et haute de 1442 mm, elle présente des proportions distinctives associées à des lignes étirées dynamiques. Elle est 143 mm plus longue, 27 mm plus large et 53 mm plus haute que le modèle précédent, tandis que les largeurs de voie ont également augmenté – à 1595 mm à l'avant (+ 50 mm) et 1623 mm à l'arrière (+ 29 mm). L’empattement de 2856 mm est 46 mm plus long que celui du modèle précédent et 5 mm plus long que celui de la Série 3 Berline.

Le concept de carrosserie spécifique au modèle se traduit par un intérieur polyvalent offrant un espace généreux à l’arrière. La nouvelle BMW Série 4 Gran Coupé offre un volume de coffre de 470 litres, le volume primaire dans la zone directement visible du coffre ayant augmenté de 39 litres. La capacité de chargement peut être portée à 1290 litres en rabattant les sections de la banquette arrière fractionnable selon le rapport standard de 40/ 20/ 40.

Avant expressif, silhouette élégante, arrière puissant.

Les lignes audacieuses et les surfaces à la structure tridimensionnelle sont les éléments caractéristiques de la face avant expressive de la nouvelle BMW Série 4 Gran Coupé. Au centre, la large calandre BMW aux naseaux verticaux proéminents lui confère une présence affirmée. Les minces phares full-LED sont dotés de guides de lumière à fibres optiques en forme de U pour les feux de jour. Les phares adaptatifs à LED sont également prévus en option avec BMW Laserlight incluant l’assistant de feux de route à anti-éblouissement BMW Selective Beam.

Les lignes précises, les portes aux vitres sans encadrement, les poignées affleurantes et les épaulements puissants soulignent l’élégance sportive de la nouvelle BMW Série 4 Gran Coupé, tandis que la ligne de toit se termine par un becquet prononcé sur le hayon. Les lignes horizontales prédominent aussi à l’arrière. La stature musclée et élancée de la voiture est accentuée par une jupe arrière aux lèvres verticales aérodynamiques à ses extrémités et une finition noire pour le bord inférieur. Les feux arrière full-LED élégamment foncés se prolongent sur les flancs.

Les caractéristiques design sur mesure ajoutent une touche dynamique supplémentaire aux modèles M Sport et BMW M. Un pack extérieur M Carbon peut être spécifié en option, tandis que des équipements M Performance spécifiques au modèle sont disponibles dans la gamme d’accessoires d’origine BMW.

Habitacle : plaisir de conduite et espace dans une atmosphère haut de gamme.

À l’intérieur de la nouvelle BMW Série 4 Gran Coupé, la console centrale haute et la structure fluide des surfaces allant du tableau de bord aux panneaux de porte fait de l’espace avant un véritable cocon. Le bouton Start/Stop est intégré dans l’élégant panneau de commande sur la console centrale, où l’on retrouve également le BMW Controller, les boutons de l’unité Driving Experience Control, le frein de stationnement électromécanique, ainsi que le levier de vitesses spécifique au modèle. Les sièges arrière dotés d’appuie-tête rabattables permettent d’installer trois sièges enfant.

Des sièges Sport et un volant Sport en cuir sont fournis de série. Dans les modèles BMW M440i xDrive Gran Coupé et M Sport, le style dynamique de l’habitacle est accentué par des éléments tels que les protège-genoux sur la console centrale. La gamme d’options offre de très nombreuses possibilités de personnalisation. La nouvelle BMW Série 4 Gran Coupé met en valeur ses références sportives nettement améliorées par un modèle haute performance de sommet de gamme. La BMW M440i xDrive Gran Coupé (consommation en cycle mixte : 8,5 - 8,0 l/100 km [33.2 - 35.3 mpg imp] en cycle WLTP ; émissions de CO₂ en cycle mixte : 193 – 181 g/km en cycle WLTP) est propulsée par un moteur essence six cylindres en ligne de 275 kW/374 ch. La BMW 430i Gran Coupé (consommation en cycle mixte : 7,6 – 6,8 l/100 km [37,2 – 41,5 mpg imp] en WLTP ; émissions de CO₂ en cycle mixte : 173 – 156 g/km en WLTP) inaugure un nouveau moteur essence à quatre cylindres développant 180 kW/245 ch et doté d’un collecteur d’échappement intégré à la culasse pour réduire davantage les niveaux d’émissions. Le moteur essence quatre cylindres de la BMW 420i Gran Coupé (consommation en cycle mixte : 7,3 – 6,6 l/100 km [38,7 – 42,8 mpg imp] en WLTP ; émissions de CO₂ en cycle mixte : 166 – 150 g/km en WLTP) développe une puissance maximale de 135 kW/184 ch. Dans la BMW M440i xDrive Gran Coupé et les versions diesel du nouveau modèle, la technologie hybride légère renforce la dynamique et l’efficience. Le générateur-démarreur de 48 V fournit une puissance supplémentaire de 8 kW/11 ch à l’accélération initiale et lors des reprises. Une batterie supplémentaire contribue à élargir la portée de la régénération et du stockage de l’énergie de freinage.

Tous les moteurs sont associés de série à une boîte de vitesses Steptronic à huit rapports. Disponible de série sur la BMW M440i xDrive Gran Coupé et en option sur les autres modèles, la boîte de vitesses Steptronic Sport à huit rapports avec palettes au volant, en plus de passages de rapport encore plus dynamiques, offre également une fonction Sprint. Carrosserie à rigidité élevée, attributs aérodynamiques optimisés.

Les caractéristiques sportives de la nouvelle BMW Série 4 Gran Coupé sont également optimisées par un centre de gravité bas et une répartition des masses 50:50. Un mix intelligent de matériaux a permis d’optimiser le poids de la carrosserie et du châssis. Des amortisseurs de carrosserie spécifiques à l’avant et au niveau de l’essieu arrière contribuent également au haut degré d’agilité et de précision du modèle.

Un système de commande de volet d’air actif comprenant des volets en haut et en bas, des rideaux d’air et un soubassement presque entièrement étanche optimisent l’aérodynamique. Le coefficient de traînée (Cx) de 0,26 mesuré pour la BMW 420d Gran Coupé, par exemple, représente une réduction de 0,02 par rapport à son prédécesseur.

Une technologie de châssis sophistiquée avec des réglages spécifiques.

Les modifications spécifiques opérées au niveau de la géométrie, du montage et des réglages des suspensions confèrent à la nouvelle BMW Série 4 Gran Coupé une sportivité exceptionnelle. L'essieu avant à amortisseur de carrosserie à double articulation et l'essieu arrière à cinq bras ont également été conçus pour réduire le poids tout en augmentant la rigidité. Les amortisseurs hydrauliques montés de série améliorent à la fois les performances sportives et le confort de conduite. Selon la course du ressort, ils offrent un amortissement supplémentaire pour contrôler les mouvements de la caisse sur de grosses bosses, et pour éviter une plongée excessive. La nouvelle BMW Série 4 Gran Coupé est équipée de série de jantes en alliage léger de 17 pouces. De série, la nouvelle BMW M440i xDrive Gran Coupé comprend des jantes BMW M en alliage léger 18 pouces ainsi qu’un différentiel M Sport avec fonction de verrouillage entièrement variable à régulation électronique dans le différentiel arrière. Le conducteur et les passagers de la nouvelle BMW Série 4 Gran Coupé bénéficient des possibilités étendues offertes par le BMW Operating System 7 de série. Munich. The market launch of the BMW M5 CS is the absolute highlight among the innovations that will enrich the BMW model range in spring 2021. The first special model based on the BMW M5 Competition takes on the top position in the BMW M GmbH range in terms of engine power, performance and exclusivity, underlining the brand's close ties with racing. Model diversity in the premium segment of the compact and mid-size class will be expanded from March 2021 with additional drive variants for the BMW 4 Series Coupé and the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé. What is more, attractive additions to the standard or optionally available equipment in numerous BMW model series enhance driving pleasure, comfort, individuality and safety.

A feature previously only available for high-performance BMW M GmbH automobiles will also be featured on the most powerful variants of the BMW 3 Series Sedan and BMW 4 Series Coupé from March 2021. For the first time, an M carbon fibre roof will be offered for the top models of both model series. Exclusive lightweight components also optimise the driving experience in the BMW M8. Newly developed M Carbon bucket seats will be available as an optional extra for the three high-performance models in the luxury segment from March 2021. The luxury sedans of the BMW 7 Series will be equipped with Integral Active Steering as standard. In addition, a nanoparticle filter will now be a new component of the standard or optional 4-zone automatic air conditioning in the BMW 7 Series and BMW 8 Series as well as in the BMW X5, BMW X6 and BMW X7 models. BMW Individual Shadow Line lights complement the equipment range for the BMW X5 and BMW X6. The BMW News app will be added to the range of digital services for selected BMW models from April 2021.

High-performance sedan with exclusive racing characteristics: The BMW M5 CS.
Following the BMW M3 CS, the BMW M4 CS and the BMW M2 CS, a special model of the BMW M5 will be launched for the first time in March 2021. The most powerful and exclusive version of the high-performance sedan bears the name BMW M5 CS (combined fuel consumption: 11.3 - 10.9 l/100 km (WLTP), 11.3 - 11. 1 l/100 km (NEDC); combined CO2 emissions: 257 - 248 g/km (WLTP), 258 - 253 g/km (NEDC).

The special model is powered by the most powerful engine ever to be used in a BMW M GmbH production vehicle. The V8 engine with BMW M TwinPower Turbo technology generates a maximum output of 467 kW/635 hp and is thus 7 kW/10 hp more powerful than the drive unit in the BMW M5 Competition. Weighing in with 70 kilograms less weight, the BMW M5 CS completes the sprint from a standstill to 100 km/h in 3.0 seconds, beating the BMW M5 Competition by 0.3 seconds.

The racetrack potential of the BMW M5 CS also goes hand in hand with unrestricted suitability for everyday use. In addition to design elements for the exterior in Gold Bronze, standard equipment also features M Carbon seats for the driver and front passenger. In the rear of the BMW M5 CS, two passengers can be seated on individual seats and enjoy the outstanding driving experience.

New in the BMW 4 Series: Inline 6-cylinder diesel engines and exclusive optional extras.
The sporty character of the new BMW 4 Series Coupé will be underlined by an additional BMW M automobile and a further model variant with a particularly powerful engine from March 2021. In both cases, an inline 6-cylinder diesel engine and intelligent all-wheel drive provide efficient driving pleasure. The new BMW M440d xDrive Coupé (combined fuel consumption: 6.3 – 5.7 l/100 km (WLTP), 5.7 - 5.3 l/100 km (NEDC); combined CO2 emissions: 164 - 150 g/km (WLTP), 149 - 140 g/km (NEDC), with its 250 kW/340 hp drive featuring BMW M TwinPower Turbo technology is also combined with an 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission, an M sports package and an M sports differential. Thanks to the outstanding performance of the 3.0-litre engine and its maximum torque of 700 Nm, the new BMW M440d xDrive Coupé accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds.

With a maximum output of 210 kW/286 hp generated from a 3.0 litres of capacity and a maximum torque of 650 Nm, the powerplant of the new BMW 430d xDrive Coupé (combined fuel consumption: 5.9 – 5.2 l/100 km (WLTP), 5.1 - 4.8 l/100 km (NEDC); combined CO2 emissions: 155 - 137 g/km (WLTP), 134 - 126 g/km (NEDC) also enables dynamic acceleration manoeuvres. It takes just 5.1 seconds to accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h.

In both inline 6-cylinder diesel models, mild hybrid technology with a 48-volt starter generator provides a further increase in dynamics and efficiency. The system enables particularly intensive energy recovery in braking and thrust phases. The energy is stored in a 48-volt battery and used both for the onboard network and to generate additional drive power. The dynamic power delivery when starting off and accelerating is enhanced by the additional power of 8 kW/11 hp spontaneously provided by the 48-volt starter generator. In other load ranges the electric drive can relieve the combustion engine and thus increase its efficiency.

For both the new BMW 4 Series Coupé and the new BMW 4 Series Convertible, the BMW Individual Brilliant White metallic, BMW Individual Frozen Portimao Blue metallic and BMW Individual Frozen Deep Grey metallic exterior paint finishes will also be available from March 2021. The extended BMW Individual Merino leather upholstery or the BMW Individual Merino full leather upholstery will be available in six or four colour variants respectively to ensure exclusive flair in the interior.

Dynamic charisma increased, centre of gravity lowered: M Carbon roof in the BMW 3 Series and BMW 4 Series.
The new BMW M440d xDrive Coupé, just like the BMW M440i xDrive Coupé and the two corresponding top models of the BMW 3 Series Sedan, will add further touches of sporty flair by means of an exclusive lightweight construction feature. The M Carbon roof, available for these four models from March 2021, emphasises dynamic charisma and at the same time lowers the vehicle's centre of gravity further to make it even more agile.

In future, the new interior trims will be available in the M Carbon Fibre version to match. They will also be available for the BMW M440i xDrive Convertible and for all other model variants of the new BMW 3 Series and BMW 4 Series, in each case in conjunction with the M Sport Model equipment.

Additional all-wheel drive model variant for the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé.
The added traction, driving stability and sportiness associated with intelligent all-wheel drive can be experienced in a further model variant of the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé from March 2021. The new BMW 220i xDrive Gran Coupé (combined fuel consumption: 7.3 - 6.5 l/100 km (WLTP), 6.4 - 6.1 l/100 km (NEDC); combined CO2 emissions: 165 - 149 g/km (WLTP, 147 - 139 g/km (NEDC), generates 131 kW/178 hp from a 4-cylinder petrol engine, the power being distributed between the front and rear wheels as required. The 7-speed Steptronic transmission with double clutch is in charge of power transmission. With this drive technology, the new BMW 220i xDrive Gran Coupé accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 7.1 seconds.

The range of optional extras for the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé will be supplemented by additional light-alloy wheels in spring 2021. 18-inch M light-alloy wheels in Y-spoke design and bicolour finish are new to the range.

BMW 7 Series now features Integral Active Steering as standard.
The superior ride comfort, cornering dynamics and agility of the BMW 7 Series luxury sedans will be enhanced from March 2021 with the help of Integral Active Steering as standard. This system optimises both agility and superior handling at higher speeds as well as comfort when manoeuvring through precisely controlled steering of the rear wheels. The latest version of the Integral Active Steering system triggers counter-steering of the rear wheels even at a particularly low speed of less than 3 km/h. This further enhances the manoeuvrability of the luxury sedans when parking and backing out, as well as when passing slowly through narrow spaces.

Nanoparticle filter as a new component of the 4-zone automatic air conditioning.
In many current BMW models, a nanoparticle filter will be part of the range of functions of the 4-zone automatic air conditioning. The system, which is unique in the competitive environment, is able to remove tiny impurities from the air flowing into the interior. The 4-zone automatic air conditioning with nanoparticle filter is part of the standard equipment in the BMW X7 and is offered as an option for the BMW 7 Series luxury sedans, the BMW 8 Series luxury sports cars and the BMW X5 and BMW X6 models.

BMW Individual Shadow Line lights for the BMW X5 and BMW X6.
The range of optional equipment for the BMW X5 and BMW X6 models is supplemented by the BMW Individual Shadow Line lights. They are available in conjunction with the optional BMW laser light and feature black inlays on the upper edge of the headlights ensuring a particularly expressive front view.

Pure race-track feeling: M Carbon bucket seats in the BMW M8.
A particularly attractive addition to the range of optional extras for the BMW M8 models allows customers to experience the fascinating performance characteristics of the high-performance sports cars even more intensively. M Carbon bucket seats will be available for the BMW M8 Competition Coupé, the BMW M8 Competition Convertible and the BMW M8 Competition Gran Coupé from March 2021. With their novel, structure-based design, visible carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) surfaces, integrated headrests, openings in the backrests and side sections as well as guides for multi-point seat belts, they combine racing functionality with long-distance comfort and luxurious quality of workmanship.

The M Carbon bucket seats for the driver and front passenger are electrically adjustable for height, tilt and forward/back positioning. In addition, the inclination and width of their backrests can be adjusted at the touch of a button. They feature leather and alcantara seat surfaces and are also heated. Illuminated "M8" lettering on the headrests and a memory function on the driver's side are also part of the equipment package of the M Carbon bucket seats. Their lightweight construction concept leads to a significant weight reduction compared to the standard M sports seats.

Exclusive special equipment for other BMW M automobiles.
The range of optional extras available for numerous other BMW M automobiles will also be expanded in spring 2021. For the BMW M3 Sedan and the BMW M4 Coupé, the new Skyscraper Grey metallic exterior paint finish and the extended BMW Merino leather upholstery are available in a choice of five additional colour variants.

The BMW X5 M Competition and BMW X6 M Competition models can also be equipped with BMW Individual Shadow Line lights in conjunction with the optional BMW laser light from April 2021. In addition, the optional 4-zone automatic air conditioning will also include a nanoparticle filter in the BMW M8 models.

New addition to the range of digital services: BMW News app.
The BMW Operating System 7, which is available in conjunction with BMW Live Cockpit, BMW Live Cockpit Plus or BMW Live Cockpit Professional in numerous current BMW models, enables the use of a growing number of digital services. The latest innovations in this area include the BMW News app, which will be available from April 2021 as part of BMW Connected and provides the driver with selected audio content. This is precisely tailored to the wishes and needs of the driver. Based on the driver’s individual interests, current online news is selected from publisher offerings and broadcast in the form of naturally spoken language via the vehicle's audio system.

The design, vehicle concept and driving dynamics provide greater differentiation from the BMW 3 Series Sedan than at any time in the 35 years that BMW convertibles have graced the midsize class. Worldwide launch will commence in March 2021.
• The range now peaks with an extremely sporty BMW M440i xDrive Convertible flagship model (fuel consumption combined:
  7.4 – 6.9 l/100 km [38.2 – 40.9 mpg imp]; CO₂ emissions combined:169 – 159 g/km) powered by a 275 kW/374 hp six-cylinder in-line petrol engine. The launch line-up also comprises two four-cylinder petrol units and a four-cylinder diesel, with two straight-six diesel engines set to follow later in 2021.
• Standalone body design has dynamically stretched proportions and a low-to-the-road silhouette. Expressive front end brings together tradition-rich and modern styling features. Prominent, upright BMW kidney grille references legendary sports cars from the brand’s past and signals the high cooling air requirement of the powertrain technology. Extremely slim LED headlights are standard, BMW Laserlight optional.
• Newly developed panel bow softtop roof marries the strengths of a retractable hardtop and the puristic appeal of a fabric hood, thereby combining the best of both worlds. Its sleek surface gracefully arches over the passenger cell of the new BMW 4 Series Convertible. Roof is 40 per cent lighter than the predecessor car’s, acoustic and thermal comfort are far superior to those of a conventional design. Softtop comes in Black as standard and Anthracite Silver effect as an option.
• Significantly enhanced performance capabilities resulting from an extremely stiff body structure with reinforced side skirts, additional convertible-specific bracing and a new aluminium shear panel in the front end. Munich. Increased efficiency through consistent electrification, optimised emissions and innovations in the areas of driver assistance and digital services are the focus of the model revision measures for numerous BMW model series that will take effect in autumn 2020. From November 2020, all models of the premium brand will meet the requirements of the currently strictest exhaust emission standard Euro 6d. In the BMW 5 Series, the range of plug-in hybrid models has been extended by three new variants. New inline 6-cylinder diesel engines and 48-volt mild hybrid technology lower fuel consumption and emissions of selected models in the BMW 3 Series and BMW 8 Series. In addition, further engines will supplement the drive portfolio of the BMW 1 Series and the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé.

Efficiency becomes more diverse: World premiere for five plug-in hybrid models in the BMW 5 Series.
The range of BMW models with electrified drive systems will also be consistently expanded in autumn 2020. The expanded range of the following electrified models is especially attractive: BMW 545e xDrive Sedan (fuel consumption combined: 2.3 – 2.2 l/100 km; combined power consumption: 16.3 – 15.8 kWh/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 53 – 49 g/km; electric range: 47 – 57 km), BMW 530e Touring (combined fuel consumption: 2.0 – 1.8 l/100 km; combined power consumption: 16.1 – 15.4 kWh/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 46 – 42 g/km; electric range: 52 – 57 km (WLTP)) and BMW 530e xDrive Touring (combined fuel consumption: 2.4 – 2.2 l/100 km; combined power consumption: 16.7 – 16.1 kWh/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 54 – 50 g/km; electric range: 48 – 53 km (WLTP)). The BMW 5 Series model range now already includes five plug-in hybrid variants. In the upper mid-size class, BMW offers the largest selection of models with electrified drive.

In the new BMW 545e xDrive Sedan, an inline 6-cylinder petrol engine and an electric drive integrated into the 8-speed Steptronic transmission deliver impressive driving dynamics in a particularly efficient manner. The power of the two drive units adds up to a maximum system output of 290 kW/394 hp and is distributed between the front and rear wheels as required by the intelligent BMW xDrive all-wheel drive. The brand’s hallmark combination of energy efficiency and sportiness also characterises the new Touring models, whose plug-in hybrid system consists of a 4-cylinder petrol engine and an electric drive system also integrated into the 8-speed Steptronic transmission. Together they generate a system output of up to 215 kW/292 hp in the XtraBoost mode when load requirements are particularly high.

Increased dynamic performance and reduced fuel consumption: New inline 6-cylinder diesel engines with 48-volt mild hybrid technology in the BMW 3 Series and BMW 8 Series.
With the introduction of 48-volt mild hybrid technology in additional models, BMW continues to consistently reduce fuel consumption and emissions in its current vehicle fleet. This is linked to the introduction of a new generation of inline 6-cylinder diesel engines. As of autumn 2020, four mid-size models of the BMW 3 Series and three luxury sports cars of the BMW 8 Series will offer noticeably more dynamic performance and increased efficiency.

This twofold and BMW typical progress is achieved through further advanced BMW TwinPower Turbo technology and additionally with the aid of a particularly powerful starter generator and an additional battery. The dynamic power delivery when starting off and accelerating is enhanced by the additional power of 8 kW/11 hp spontaneously provided by the 48-volt starter generator. In other load ranges the electric drive can relieve the combustion engine and thus increase its efficiency. The power required for this is generated by intensive recuperation in braking and thrust phases and stored in a 48-volt battery, which also supplies the vehicle’s electrical system.

The 48-volt mild hybrid technology will be used in four further BMW 3 Series models from November 2020. In the new BMW 330d Sedan (combined fuel consumption: 4.7 – 4.4 l/100 km*; combined CO₂ emissions: 125 – 116 g/km*) and the new BMW 330d Xdrive Sedan (combined fuel consumption: 5.0 – 4.7 l/100 km*; combined CO₂ emissions: 132 – 123 g/km*) and the new BMW 330d Touring (combined fuel consumption: 4.8 – 4.5 l/100 km*; combined CO₂ emissions: 128 – 119 g/km*) and the new BMW 330d Xdrive Touring (combined fuel consumption: 5.2 – 4.8 l/100 km*; combined CO₂ emissions: 136 – 127 g/km), it supports the new inline 6-cylinder diesel engine, which already provides additional driving pleasure with its maximum output increased by 15 kW/21 hp to 210 kW/286 hp. Thanks to a two-stage turbocharging system and an advanced common rail injection system whose piezo injectors now inject the fuel with up to ten injections per working cycle and a maximum pressure of 2 700 bar into the combustion chambers, engine response and efficiency of the 3.0 litre engine are optimised. The new diesel engine generates its maximum torque, which has been increased by 30 to 650 Nm, between 1 500 and 2 500 rpm. The increased power of the combustion engine and the additional electrical power noticeably improve the car’s sprint capacity. For example, the new BMW 330d Sedan improves its acceleration from zero to 100 km/h by 0.2 seconds to now 5.3 seconds.

In the BMW 8 Series, 48-volt mild hybrid technology is combined with an equally new and even more powerful 3.0-litre diesel engine. The BMW 840d xDrive Coupé models (fuel consumption combined: 5.8 – 5.6 l/100 km*; combined CO₂ emissions: 154 - 146 g/km), BMW 840d xDrive Convertible (fuel consumption combined: 6.0 – 5.7 l/100 km*; combined CO₂ emissions: 159 – 151 g/km) and BMW 840d xDrive Gran Coupé (combined fuel consumption: 5.9 – 5.6 l/100 km*; combined CO₂ emissions: 155 - 148 g/km) will be powered by a 250 kW/340 hp inline 6-cylinder engine in the future. The 15 kW/20 hp increase in top-level output also results from further advanced BMW TwinPower Turbo technology. It now includes a multi-stage turbocharger with variable turbine geometry for the high-pressure and low-pressure stages. The maximum torque of 700 Nm is generated alreadybetween 1 750 and 2 250 rpm. In the luxury sports car model range, the new drive technology enables the BMW 840d xDrive Coupé, for example, to improve its acceleration figure from a standing start to 100 km/h by 0.1 seconds to 4.8 seconds. The optimised performance characteristics of the diesel engine are accompanied by precisely adapted fine tuning of the chassis and its control systems.

The new diesel engines for the BMW 3 Series and the BMW 8 Series also represent the latest state of the art with regard to emissions. They feature exhaust gas treatment technology, whose engine-proximate components consist of a diesel oxidation catalytic converter and an SCR coating on the diesel particulate filter. In order to optimally reduce nitrogen oxide (NOX) emissions, a second metering unit is additionally integrated at the outlet of the engine-proximate SCR system.

BMW 1 Series, BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé: Additional engines and new optional extras.
New engines will be available from November 2020 for the BMW 1 Series and the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé. The new BMW 116i (combined fuel consumption: 5.8 – 5.4 l/100 km*; combined CO₂ emissions: 133 – 124 g/km) is powered by a 3-cylinder petrol engine with an output of 80 kW/109 hp and a maximum torque of 190 Nm. It is equipped as standard with a manual 6-speed transmission and accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 10.6 seconds. A 7-speed Steptronic transmission with double clutch is optionally available. In addition, the model range will be expanded to include the new BMW 120i (fuel consumption combined: 5.8 – 5.5 l/100 km*; combined CO₂ emissions: 134 – 126 g/km). Its 4-cylinder petrol engine generates a maximum output of 131 kW/178 hp and a maximum torque of 280 Nm and is combined as standard with a 7-speed Steptronic transmission with double clutch. The new BMW 120i accelerates from a standing start to 100 km/h in 7.0 seconds.

Outstanding economy is the hallmark of the new entry-level diesel engine for the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé. The 3-cylinder diesel engine of the new BMW 216d Gran Coupé (fuel consumption combined: 4.1 – 3.8 l/100 km*; combined CO₂ emissions: 108 – 99 g/km) provides a maximum output of 85 kW/116 hp and a maximum torque of 270 Nm. It transmits its power to a 7-speed Steptronic transmission with double clutch as standard and enables acceleration from zero to 100 km/h in 10.3 seconds.

The range of optional equipment for the BMW 1 Series and the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé is supplemented by the BMW Individual Shadow Line lights. With the black inserts at the upper edge of the headlamps they make the front view even more powerfully expressive.

Urban Cruise Control: Increased comfort and optimised safety when driving in urban traffic.
The increased level of comfort and safety achieved through combined speed and distance control will also be available in numerous current BMW models when driving in city traffic from autumn 2020 onwards. In conjunction with the optional Driving Assistant Professional, the Urban Cruise Control function is available in the BMW 3 Series and BMW 5 Series, the BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo, the BMW 8 Series and the BMW X5, BMW X6, BMW X7, BMW M5, BMW M8, BMW X5 M and BMW X6 M model series. It extends the range of functions of the Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go function by a traffic light recognition function. In addition to vehicles and traffic signs ahead, traffic lights registered by the stereo camera are also taken into account.

In the case of traffic light signals that are clearly related to the lane you are travelling, these are automatically registered by the speed and distance control system. If the traffic light is red, the system decelerates the vehicle to a standstill. A green light signals the continuation of the journey. In a more complex intersection situation where, for example, different light signals apply to different lanes, a traffic light symbol is displayed in the instrument cluster. The driver can then confirm the light signal shown there and continue to use the automatic speed and distance control or control the speed himself. For additional comfort in city traffic there is a drive reminder function. While stationary at a traffic light, the current traffic light phase is displayed in the instrument cluster; at the beginning of the green phase, the driver also receives a signal to start driving.

The Urban Cruise Control function can also be integrated into the car at a later date by means of a Remote Software Upgrade. With the exception of the BMW 8 Series models, this option is available for vehicles of all the above-mentioned series produced from July 2020 onwards and which are equipped with the Driving Assistant Professional.

New digital services for more driving pleasure: BMW News, BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant with new functions, personal profile picture and simple log-in.
The latest generation of the display and control system makes it possible to use new digital services in numerous current BMW models. The BMW Operating System 7, which is available in conjunction with BMW Live Cockpit, BMW Live Cockpit Plus or BMW Live Cockpit Professional, allows the driver to customise what is displayed to a very high degree. From November 2020, audio content will also be tailored to the driver’s wishes and needs with BMW News. Based on the driver’s individual interests, current online news is selected from publisher offerings and broadcast in the form of naturally spoken language via the vehicle's audio system.

The BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant is one of the particularly innovative services that features in current models with BMW Operating System 7. The digital companion, which enables intuitive operation of numerous vehicle functions via voice control (“Hey, BMW”), is constantly gaining new capabilities. From autumn 2020, the operating modes MAX eDrive and AUTO eDrive or ELECTRIC and HYBRID can also be activated in the appropriately equipped plug-in hybrid models by means of a naturally spoken instruction.

Optimised options for creating a driver profile allow further customisation opportunities. From November 2020, the driver can no longer only login by entering the BMW ID manually, but also via the My BMW App as well, making the process very convenient. A QR code generated for this purpose can be displayed on the Control Display, which can be scanned using a smartphone. The personal driver profile data can then be transferred to the vehicle. Also new: The driver can add a photo of his choice to his individual profile.

BMW X1 and BMW X2: New headlamp variants and BMW Individual High Gloss Shadow Line with extended features.
Adaptive LED headlights will be available for the compact BMW X2 Sports Activity Coupé from November 2020. They optimise visibility when driving at night, among other things by means of a high beam matrix function. This feature is able to increase the range of vision while at the same time avoiding any dazzle effect on other road users. To achieve this, the high beam is divided into several LED segments that can be activated and deactivated independently of each other to adapt how the road is illuminated to the respective traffic situation.

In addition, the striking BMW Individual Shadow Line lights are available as a new option for the BMW X2 and the BMW X1. The sporty appearance of the BMW X2 can be further enhanced by the BMW Individual High Gloss Shadow Line with extended features. In addition to the high-gloss black side window surrounds, this option includes a black frame for the BMW kidney grille and tailpipe trims in chrome black.

New paint finishes allow for expressive individualisation.
New additions to the range of paint finishes for numerous models will be introduced in autumn 2020 allowing for even greater levels of individualisation. The new San Remo Green metallic paint finish will also be available for the new BMW 4 Series Coupé in future. For the BMW X5, BMW X6 and BMW X7, the colours Dravit Grey metallic and Sparkling Brown metallic have been added to the range. In addition, the BMW Individual special paintwork finishes Grigio Telesto metallic, Urban Green metallic, Frozen Black metallic, Petrol Mica metallic, Ruby Red metallic, Avus Blue metallic and British Racing Green metallic are also available for the large BMW X models. 

For the BMW i3 (combined fuel consumption: 0.0 l/100 km; combined power consumption: 13.1 kWh/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 0 g/km) and BMW i3s (combined fuel consumption: 0.0 l/100 km; combined power consumption: 14.6 – 14.0 kWh/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 0 g/km) new paint finishes will also be available from November 2020. The purely electrically driven models will be available with paint finishes in Cashmere Silver with accents in BMW i Blue and Galvanic Gold with accents in Frozen Grey metallic and Fluid Black with accents in Frozen Grey metallic.

Munich. The concept of sporty driving pleasure in the premium midsize segment is being redefined and will soon be available to experience in the new BMW 4 Series Coupe. Following a series of exhaustive test drives held as part of the development process to prepare it for series production, the latest incarnation of the two-door model is now embarking on the final phase of dynamic testing. After having their driving qualities honed at the winter testing centre in Arjeplog, Sweden, at the BMW Group’s test centre in Miramas in France, on the Nürburgring’s Nordschleife circuit and at various other race tracks, the prototypes are now returning to their roots: engineers will put the final touches to the chassis technology of the new BMW 4 Series Coupe on the motorways and country roads around the BMW Group’s Research and Innovation Centre (FIZ) in Munich.

Like its overall vehicle concept and design, the 4 Series Coupe’s chassis technology is a more individual composition than ever before. The proportions, aerodynamic properties and weight distribution of the two-door car provide the ideal basis for a chassis set-up focussed unerringly on exhilarating dynamic performance. A direct comparison with the new BMW 3 Series Sedan highlights the new model’s unique profile particularly clearly. The sedan’s impressive drag coefficient, for example, is undercut by 0.015. Plus, the new BMW 4 Series Coupe is 57 millimetres lower than its four-door counterpart and its centre of gravity is 21 millimetres closer to the road as a result.

This all combines with the increased negative camber at the front wheels and the 23-millimetre wider rear track to sharpen the car’s handling characteristics by a significant degree. The sports sedan already boasts extraordinary dynamism, but the new BMW 4 Series Coupe raises agility and lateral acceleration by a sizable margin again.

The development team for the new BMW 4 Series Coupe also took a model-specific approach to incorporating the chassis technology and connecting the suspension to the body. The fruits of their labours will launch the new two-door model straight to the top of its segment in terms of sporting prowess and the driving experience. At the same time, the double-joint spring strut front axle / five-link rear axle configuration means the dialling up of dynamic performance doesn’t come at the expense of excellent comfort on everyday drives and long journeys. Lift-related dampers – which made their debut in the new BMW 3 Series Sedan and offer continuously variable, progressive damping control as a function of spring travel – have been tuned for an even sportier drive. Custom-made tower-to-front end struts and an additional shear panel on the bulkhead optimise steering precision and response, while bracing elements have been added around the rear axle to increase stiffness for improved straightline stability and lateral acceleration.

The model line-up provides another indication of the new BMW 4 Series Coupe’s unwavering commitment to class-leading driving dynamics. The range will now be spearheaded by a BMW M model in the shape of the new BMW M440i xDrive Coupe. Powered by a potent straight-six engine delivering maximum output of 275 kW/374 hp, it will also feature 48V mild-hybrid technology, with a 48V starter-generator and a second battery employed to both ease the load on the engine and act in unison with it. Besides improved efficiency, the principal benefit here is punchier power development when the driver hits the accelerator hard. The additional 8 kW/11 hp generated by the electric boost effect underpins lightning-fast off-the-line getaways and in-gear sprints. The engine’s stunning power delivery, the standalone vehicle concept and the optimised chassis technology’s model-specific configuration combine to endow the BMW M440i xDrive Coupe with outstanding performance credentials. Harnessing the race track expertise of BMW M GmbH, the various elements have been woven together into an overall package of supreme handling agility, precision and poise.

The power generated by the engine in the new BMW M440i xDrive Coupe is channelled to the road via an eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission and the car’s intelligent all-wheel-drive system. The M Sport differential is also on hand to make sure that drive power is deployed to optimum effect in demanding driving situations. The locking effect generated by an electric motor limits speed equalisation between the inside and outside rear wheel when cornering, thereby enhancing traction and handling stability while enabling the driver to power out of bends with considerable dynamic verve. The custom-tuned chassis elastokinematics, exceptionally powerful M Sport brakes and 18-inch M light-alloy wheels with mixed-size tyres are likewise contributory factors in the precisely controllable dynamics of the new BMW M440i xDrive Coupe.

The final round of testing on the car’s home ground will allow the engineers to fast-track their latest findings into the fine-tuning process at the Research and Innovation Centre. The focus here is on ensuring that the dynamic performance attributes of the new BMW 4 Series Coupe crafted on race circuits can also be experienced in normal driving conditions on public roads. Whether darting along winding country routes around Munich or constantly switching between motorway and urban traffic, the new BMW M440i xDrive Coupe epitomises how the unequivocally sporty design of the body and chassis, the bespoke set-up of the steering, brakes and all-wheel-drive system, the pinpoint feedback from the dampers and the precise interventions of the chassis control systems together serve up driving pleasure that thrills and delights – day in, day out.

BMW will introduce a wave of enticing additions to standard specification and broaden the array of options available ex-factory in spring 2019, delivering a further boost to driving pleasure and individuality in many of its model ranges. New design features, exterior paint finishes and light-alloy wheels enhance the sporting appearance of the BMW 2 Series Coupe, BMW 2 Series Convertible, BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo, BMW 4 Series, BMW M4 Coupe (fuel consumption combined: 10.0 – 9.9 l/100 km [28.3 – 28.5 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 227 – 225 g/km) and BMW M4 Convertible (fuel consumption combined: 10.2 – 10.1 l/100 km [27.7 – 28.0 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 232 – 230 g/km). BMW 2 Series Coupe, BMW 2 Series Convertible, BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo: fresh touches enhance sportiness and elegance.
Among the refreshing flourishes enriching the visual sportiness and elegance of the BMW 2 Series Coupe and BMW 2 Series Convertible are darkened rear lights, which will become part of standard specification in March 2019. The high-performance BMW M2 Competition (fuel consumption combined: 10.0 – 9.8 l/100 km [28.3 – 28.8 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 227 – 224 g/km) will likewise come with darkened rear lights as standard. BMW 2 Series Coupe and BMW 2 Series Convertible customers ordering their car in Sport Line specification will find additional bi-colour 17- and 18-inch light-alloy wheels on the options list.

The palette of exterior paint finishes for the particularly sporty six-cylinder BMW 2 Series models now also includes the new Long Beach Blue metallic variant, while the optional interior trim strips in smooth matt Carbon Fibre heighten the cabin’s sporting allure.

All Sport Line model and M Sport model variants of the BMW 2 Series Coupe and BMW 2 Series Convertible come with a black kidney grille surround. And new to the options list for the interior is Dakota leather trim with exclusive stitching.

Dark rear lights will also be included in the standard specification for the BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo from March 2019. Cars with the optional Adaptive LED Headlights also have black inserts for the headlight units, which the M Sport model will complement with a BMW kidney grille, exhaust tailpipe embellishers and exterior mirror caps (optional) in High-gloss Black. Added to which, Jet Black 18-inch M light-alloy wheels in star-spoke design and 19-inch M light-alloy wheels in twin-spoke design with Jet Black polished finish and mixed-size tyres are available for M Sport models as a new and exclusive option. In addition, the exterior colour shade Mineral White metallic can be specified for M Sport cars.

BMW 4 Series, BMW M4 Coupe, BMW M4 Convertible: new paint finishes, light-alloy wheels and leather appointments.
The BMW 4 Series will present an even more alluring proposition from March 2019 thanks to new individualisation options. For example, the stylish elegance of the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe will be showcased to particularly stunning effect by the BMW Individual paint finish Aventurine Red metallic and BMW Individual special paint finish Frozen Dark Grey metallic. The selection of colours available for the BMW 4 Series Coupe and BMW 4 Series Convertible now also includes Mediterranean Blue metallic. Newcomers to the range of optional equipment available for all BMW 4 Series models are 18-inch light-alloy wheels in twin-spoke design and the bi-colour paint variant Orbit Grey, plus 19-inch M light-alloy wheels in twin-spoke design and bi-colour Jet Black with mixed-size tyres.

The interior also contains some new and distinctive touches in the form of the Mocha colour shade for the optional Dakota leather trim on Sport Line, Luxury Line and M Sport cars and interior trim strips in Carbon Fibre, which are available in conjunction with M Sport specification. The M Sport and Sport Line variants of the BMW 4 Series will now be fitted with black rear light screens and a BMW kidney grille surround in High-gloss Black as standard.

Darkened rear lights are also set to adorn the rear of the BMW M4 Coupe and BMW M4 Convertible. The BMW Individual paint finish Frozen Dark Blue II will be offered as an option for the two high-performance models from March 2019. Plus, the BMW M4 Coupe with M Competition package can be ordered with two new bi-colour leather trim options. BMW Individual fine-grain Merino full leather trim is available in the Sakhir Orange/Black and Silverstone/ Black combinations.

Exclusive dynamics: new M Sport Individual equipment line for the BMW 4 Series.
A new and highly desirable addition to the selection of equipment lines available from March 2019 for the BMW 4 Series Coupe, BMW 4 Series Convertible and BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe is the M Sport Individual model. A neatly blended selection of super-exclusive design and equipment features distinguishes the BMW Individual Composition with M Sport features available for the BMW 5 Series Sedan and BMW 5 Series Touring from March 2019. BMW X5: new exterior colours and leather appointments.
The range of body colour shades and leather appointments for the new BMW X5 will also be further expanded in spring 2019. The Sports Activity Vehicle will now be available with the exterior paint finishes Sophisto Grey Brilliant Effect metallic and Terra Brown metallic and BMW Individual paint finishes Ruby Black metallic, Pyrite Brown metallic, Ametrine metallic and Tanzanite Blue metallic.

A selection of additional options will help customers bring a personalised flavour to the interior of the new BMW X5. The BMW X2 will welcome a new top-of-the-line model variant in spring 2019. Munich. From the spring of 2017, the new BMW 5 Series, the sportiest and most innovative business sedan in its segment, will also set new standards in terms of efficiency. The new BMW 520d EfficientDynamics Edition impresses with a combined fuel consumption level of 4.3 to 3.9 litres per 100 kilometres (combined CO2 emission level: 114 – 102 g/km). Also, from March 2017, groundbreaking innovations in the areas of networking and operating, now being presented for the first time in the BMW 5 Series, will find their way into further model series – the digital parking space search service On-Street Parking Information and the live tile arrangement of the menu on the Control Display.

With a further extended range of driver assistance systems, the BMW 7 Series is making further advancements on the way to automated driving. The spectrum now also includes, amongst other things, the Lane Departure Assistant, ActiveAssist Collision Avoidance, Cross-Traffic and Wrong-Way Driving Alert as well as the Remote 3D View function. From the spring of 2017, BMW 6 Series models will underpin their exclusive and sporty aura with attractive innovations included in the range of special equipment options. The Digital Charging Service, an innovative feature for convenient and economical charging of the high-voltage battery, will become available exclusively for BMW i and BMW iPerformance automobiles. From March 2017, new and exceedingly high-quality options will be added to the range of special equipment for the BMW 3 Series and the BMW 4 Series as well as for the models BMW X5 and BMW X6.

BMW 520d EfficientDynamics Edition: greater driving pleasure, less CO2. 
As from March 2017, the driving pleasure that is characteristic of the new BMW 5 Series Sedan will be combined with the lowest fuel consumption and emission levels in this vehicle segment. The new BMW 520d EfficientDynamics Edition is powered by a 2-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine featuring BMW TwinPower Turbo technology, delivering a maximum power output of 140 kW/190 hp and a peak torque of 400 Newton metres available between 1,750 and 2,500 rpm. The Sedan accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds and achieves a combined fuel consumption of between 4.3 and 3.9 litres per 100 kilometres and CO2 emission levels of between 114 and 102 grams per kilometres (figures as per EU test cycle, depending on selected tyre size). The power unit of the BMW 520d EfficientDynamics Edition features, inter alia, a turbo charger mounted on anti-friction bearings, high pressure exhaust gas recirculation, a map-controlled oil pump and further developed Common Rail direct injection technology, the solenoid injectors of which ensure precise fuel dosing with a maximum pressure of 2,000 bar.

In addition to the optimised efficiency of both the engine and the standard 8-speed Steptronic transmission, enhanced aerodynamic characteristics as well as the Sedan’s greatly reduced weight vs. its predecessor also contribute towards achieving the favourable fuel consumption and CO2 emission levels. Moreover, in order to optimise emission behaviour, the BMW 520d EfficientDynamics Edition is equipped with BMW BluePerformance technology, which in addition to the particulate filter, an oxidation catalyst and a NOX storage catalyst, also features an SCR catalytic converter with AdBlue injection technology reducing nitrogen oxide emissions even further.

On-Street Parking Information in further BMW models and available for additional towns and cities.
Starting in March 2017, thanks to intelligent networking, drivers will be provided in a large number of BMW models not only with real-time information on the traffic situation, but will also receive assistance in finding a parking space in major urban areas. The BMW ConnectedDrive Service Real Time Traffic Information (RTTI), which is available in conjunction with the navigation system Professional, will also be complemented by the unique On-Street Parking Information function. Similar to the RTTI feature, this digital service uses intelligent networking to assess the availability of free road-side parking spaces from both pre-stored and current data. The calculated probability of finding a free parking space at the destination is displayed to the driver by means of coloured markings on the navigation map depicted on the Control Display.

In future, the On-Street Parking Information service will make finding a parking space far easier in as many as ten German cities. In addition to Munich, Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt and Stuttgart, the availability of parking spaces will also be analysed in real time in Nuremberg, Bremen and Hanover as from March 2017. The function, which is being featured for the first time in the new BMW 5 Series Sedan, is now available for all current models with the exception of the BMW X1, the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer and the BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer.

Even more intuitive: Navigation system Professional with animated buttons arranged as tiles.
The latest innovations for the display and control concept, which made their debut in the new BMW 5 Series, will be available for further series as from March 2017. In conjunction with the navigation system Professional, the Control Display of the iDrive system will, thanks to a new enhanced graphic representation, facilitate even more intuitive operation in the BMW 7 Series and BMW 6 Series as well as in all variants of the BMW M6. The on-board monitor displays menus in the form of horizontally arranged buttons with a tile structure. These six buttons, the order of which can be individually configured by the driver, are displayed in the main menu on two sides of the screen. This ensures more convenient and faster access to the desired content. A new menu option is “Messages”, allowing access to incoming text messages and e-mails as well as information on the vehicle’s operating condition.

These functions, which are available using the menu selection, are symbolised by animated graphics in live mode. For example, in the overview and by means of a displayed map section, the navigation menu button already displays the route the vehicle is currently travelling on, whilst the entertainment menu graphics show the title of the song currently playing, including album cover, or the name of the selected radio station.

BMW 7 Series with additional driver assistance systems and Remote 3D View.
From the spring of 2017, there will be an even broader choice of driver assistance systems to ensure even greater driving pleasure, comfort and safety in 7 Series models. From March 2017, the systems will be included in the optional equipment package Driving Assistant Plus. They offer the driver effective assistance in many different situations, leading the way to automated driving. For example, the Steering and Lane Guidance Assistant being presented in the luxury sedans for the first time will be complemented by the Lane Change Assistant, which can be used when driving on motorways and other roads with separated directional carriageways. At speeds of between 70 and 180 km/h, the driver can initiate a lane change by holding the indicator lever in the one-touch position. The system sensors then analyse the situation on the neighbouring carriageway. If they detect that this lane is clear and there are no vehicles approaching at a high speed, the steering assistant conveniently helps the driver to change lanes.  

A further addition to the range of Driving Assistant Plus functions is the ActiveAssist Collision Avoidance system. Should a rapid lane change become necessary in order to avoid a suddenly appearing obstacle, it provides steering assistance at speeds of up to 160 km/h. The Cross Traffic Alert function, also included in the equipment package as from March, provides visual and acoustic signals if the traffic signs identified by the stereo camera should indicate that the driver has overlooked a road with right of way. The new Driving Assistant Plus features are complemented by the Wrong-Way Driving Alert feature. This system analyses navigation data in order to provide information on hazardous situations. It intervenes when the vehicle is driving in the wrong direction into one-way streets, roundabouts or motorway entrances.

In conjunction with the Surround View system, a feature that provides assistance with a combination of camera images taken from several different perspectives when the vehicle is manoeuvring in tricky situations, drivers of a BMW 7 Series will in future also have access to the Remote 3D View feature, the Surround View system of which provides them with permanent access to a three-dimensional live image of their vehicle and its surroundings, this being transmitted to their smartphone via the BMW Connected feature.

New option for the BMW 3 Series and the BMW 4 Series: Multifunctional instrument display.
From March 2017, a novel feature in the field of display technology will also ensure an even more intensive driving experience in BMW 3 Series and BMW 4 Series models, for which the multifunctional instrument display will be optionally available. The fully digital TFT colour display featuring black panel technology for the cockpit provides driving-related information in an individually selectable design. The colour scheme, graphic representation and choice of contents vary according to the driving mode selected via the Driving Experience Control button.

In COMFORT mode, the display shows a conventional image of the four round instruments using the corresponding graphics. A zoom function highlights the respective driving speed and engine speed. In ECO PRO mode, additional information on current fuel efficiency replaces the rev counter. In SPORT mode, the current speed is displayed digitally in the form of a large central figure, whilst the selected gear is indicated in the centre of the rev counter.

BMW 6 Series with distinctive accents for the exterior and interior.
From the spring of 2017, new and attractive special equipment features will also be available for the BMW 6 Series. These options, which are on offer exclusively for the BMW 6 Series Coupe, the BMW 6 Series Convertible and the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe, underscore the sporting character of the three luxury class models. The choice of body colours will be complemented by the brand-new variant Sonic Speed Blue metallic. In conjunction with the M Sports package, new 20-inch, M bicolour light alloy wheels boasting an M-specific double spoke design will be available, including mixed tyres and emergency running characteristics as well as interior trims in a carbon fibre look.

Comfortable, eco-friendly, cost efficient: Digital Charging Service for BMW i and BMW iPerformance automobiles.
The BMW i brand has become a pioneer in the field of sustainable individual mobility, not only thanks to groundbreaking vehicle concepts and drive technologies, but also with numerous innovative services. The latest innovation in this area is the Digital Charging Service for intelligent charging of the high-voltage battery featured in BMW i and BMW iPerformance automobiles. So the BMW Group is the first carmaker to offer a system that conveniently helps the driver to make use of favourable electricity tariffs or a high proportion of self-generated solar energy during the charging process.

In order to achieve best possible charging cost efficiency, the BMW Digital Charging Service takes into account not only tariffs with a dynamically varying price in the daytime, but also those that include predetermined highest and lowest prices. As a result, it is possible, for example, to take maximum advantage of particularly favourable overnight rates.

In conjunction with the new BMW i Wallbox Connect, the Digital Charging Service can also optimise the use of electricity from a domestic photovoltaic system. In this case, the amount of locally generated solar electricity is predicted based on the system’s performance data and the current weather forecast. Using this data, it is also possible to determine the proportion of solar electricity that is not consumed in the home at the time of being produced and can, therefore, be used for completely emission-free mobility. As a result, fully electric and/or hybrid vehicles are integrated as best possible into the domestic environment and the customer’s individual energy concept.

The BMW Digital Charging Service automatically schedules the start and finish of each charging process with a view to best possible cost efficiency or maximum proportion of green electricity respectively. In the process, the charging schedule always ensures that the vehicle has the maximum battery capacity at the desired departure time and that the interior is also fully air-conditioned. The unique service is an integral part of BMW ConnectedDrive Services available for all BMW i and BMW iPerformance automobiles.

New light alloy wheels for the BMW X5 and the BMW X6.
In the spring of 2017, the range of optional equipment available ex factory for the models BMW X5 and BMW X6 will also include for the

first time 21-inch light alloy wheels previously only available exclusively from the Original BMW Accessory range. The M light alloy wheels boasting a double spoke design and bicolour look with burnished spokes come with mixed tyres with emergency running characteristics. They are available in conjunction with the M Sports Package for all model variants with the exception of the BMW X5 sDrive25d, BMW X5 xDrive25d and the BMW X5 xDrive40e iPerformance.

BMW X5 M and BMW X6 M now with the navigation package ConnectedDrive as standard.
As from the spring of 2017, the range of standard equipment for the BMW X5 M and the BMW X6 M will be supplemented by the navigation package ConnectedDrive, also featuring telephony with wireless charging. It includes among other options the navigation system Professional, a smartphone holder with which inductive charging of a mobile phone is possible, the RTTI service including On-Street Parking Information, a WiFi hotspot, ConnectedDrive Services, Concierge Services and Remote Services.

Munich. With the world premiere of the most powerful diesel engine ever used in a BMW production car and the introduction of three BMW iPerformance models, the drive portfolio of the BMW 7 Series continues to gain in diversity and fascination in the summer of 2016. At the same time, the BMW 1 Series and the BMW 2 Series will feature further petrol engines of the BMW Group's latest drive generation for the first time. These also include an even more powerful but also more efficient straight six-cylinder for the BMW M Performance models BMW M140i 3-door, BMW M140i 5-door, the BMW M240i Coupe and the BMW M240i Convertible.

Like the plug-in hybrid powered BMW 7 Series luxury sedans, the three additional BMW iPerformance models will in future also be recognisable by their characteristic exterior design features. Other innovations taking effect as from July 2016 include the introduction of the optional features telephony with wireless charging and WLAN hotspot for additional series. Moreover, in conjunction with the optional navigation system Professional, the iDrive control system now also features a new menu display in tile format for the BMW 1 Series, the BMW 2 Series Coupe and the BMW 2 Series Convertible, models of the BMW 3 Series and BMW 4 Series.

BMW 7 Series: New high-performance diesel engine and three BMW iPerformance models.

With the latest innovations in the field of drive technology being introduced in the summer of 2016, the BMW 7 Series is yet again setting a fascinating example of dynamics and efficiency in the luxury sedan segment. An entirely newly developed straight six-cylinder diesel engine is making its debut in the models BMW 750d xDrive and BMW 750Ld xDrive. The BMW TwinPower Turbo technology featured in the 3-litre power unit comprises four turbochargers, whose precisely coordinated function ensures an early onset of pulling power that continues right up into high engine speed ranges. With a peak output of 294 kW/400 hp and a maximum torque of 760 Newton metres, the new six-cylinder is the most powerful diesel engine ever used in a BMW model. With supreme power delivery and power transmission via the standard intelligent four-wheel drive system, the BMW 750d xDrive accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds (BMW 750Ld xDrive: 4.7 seconds), also offering even more forward thrust at high speeds that can be felt intensively at any time during short bursts of speed. Furthermore, the new top-of-the-range diesel model excels through exceptionally low fuel consumption that is truly unique in this performance class. Combined fuel consumption of the BMW 750d xDrive and the BMW 750Ld xDrive is between 5.9 and 5.7 litres per 100 kilometres and CO2 emissions are between 154 – 149 g/km (figures as per EU test cycle, depending on selected tyre size).

The BMW 7 Series iPerformance models will also be launched together with new diesel variants in the summer of 2016. The plug-in hybrid drive system including BMW eDrive technology from BMW i automobile development will become available for the models BMW 740e iPerformance featuring a standard wheelbase, for the BMW 740Le iPerformance with a long wheelbase and for the BMW 740Le xDrive iPerformance with intelligent four-wheel drive. Together, the combustion engine and electric motor featured in these models generate a system output of 240 kW/326 hp, their intelligently controlled interaction ensuring impressively spontaneous power delivery resulting in exemplary efficiency. Furthermore, driving in solely electric mode is possible with a vehicle range of up to 44 to 48 kilometres (BMW 740Le xDrive iPerformance: 41 – 45 kilometres). The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h is completed in 5.4 seconds with the BMW 740e iPerformance, in 5.5 seconds with the BMW 740Le iPerformance and in 5.3 seconds with the BMW 740Le xDrive iPerformance. Average combined fuel consumption per 100 kilometres is between 2.2 and 2.0 litres (BMW 740Le xDrive iPerformance: 2.5 – 2.1 litres). CO2 emissions are between 50 and 45 grams per kilometre (BMW 740e iPerformance) or 51 and 45 grams per kilometre (BMW 740Le iPerformance) or 56 and 49 grams per kilometre (BMW 740Le xDrive iPerformance) respectively. Combined power consumption is 13.9 kWh/100 km to 12.5 kWh/100 km. (figures as per EU test cycle for plug-in hybrid vehicles, depending on selected tyre size).

BMW M Performance models of the BMW 1 Series and BMW 2 Series: New engine generation with enhanced power and optimised efficiency.

From July 2016, BMW M Performance automobiles of the BMW 1 Series and BMW 2 Series will underscore their outstanding sporting character even more intensely with an extremely powerful straight six-cylinder petrol engine of the latest generation. Compared with the previous engine, the newly developed 3-litre power unit featuring M Performance Twin Power Turbo technology now mobilises 250 kW/340 hp following a power increase of 10 kW/14 hp and delivers a maximum of 500 Newton metres of torque. As a result, the BMW M Performance models now come up to the performance level of the BMW 1 Series M Coupe, which was built from 2011 to 2012. They complete the spurt from 0 to 100 km/h by up to 0.3 seconds faster than the predecessor models, whilst both fuel consumption and CO2 emissions as per EU test cycle are up to 7 percent lower than before. The increase in power under the bonnet and the resulting enhanced dynamics are also expressed in the new model designations for the BMW M140i 3-door, the BMW M140i 5-door, the BMW M240i Coupe and the BMW M240i Convertible. They are optionally available with BMW xDrive intelligent four-wheel drive technology.

With the standard 6-speed manual transmission, the models BMW M140i 3-door and BMW M140i 5-door accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds or with the optional 8-speed Steptronic sports transmission in 4.6 seconds respectively. Fuel consumption as per EU test cycle is 7.8 litres per 100 kilometres (automatic: 7.1 litres) and CO2 emissions 179 grams per kilometre (163 g/km). The BMW M140i xDrive 3-door and the BMW M140i xDrive 5-door come as standard with an 8-speed Steptronic sports transmission and both reach the 100 km/h mark from a standstill in 4.4 seconds. Their combined fuel consumption is 7.4 litres per 100 kilometres and CO2 emissions are 169 grams per kilometre.

The BMW M Performance models of the BMW 2 Series are also optionally available with BMW xDrive intelligent four-wheel drive technology and are in this case equipped as standard with the 8-speed Steptronic sports transmission. The BMW M240i Coupe sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds (automatic: 4.6 seconds) and has a combined fuel consumption of 7.8 litres per 100 kilometres (7.1 litres) as per EU test cycle. CO2 emissions are 179 grams per kilometre (163 g/km). The BMW M240i xDrive Coupe completes the sprint to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds and achieves an average fuel consumption of 7.4 litres per 100 kilometres as well as a CO2 emission level of 169 grams per kilometre. The BMW M240i Convertible accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds (automatic: 4.7 seconds). Average fuel consumption is 8.3 litres per 100 kilometres (automatic: 7.4 litres) and CO2 emissions are 189 grams per kilometre (169 g/km). The BMW M240i xDrive Convertible sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds and has an average fuel consumption of 7.8 litres per 100 kilometres as per EU test cycle and a CO2 emission level of 179 grams per kilometre.

BMW 1 Series, BMW 2 Series Coupe and BMW 2 Series Convertible: New four-cylinder petrol engine for eight models.

From July 2016, the generation change under the bonnet will affect many further models of the BMW 1 Series and the BMW 2 Series. Two variants of the BMW 1 Series 3-door, the BMW 1 Series 5-door, the BMW 2 Series Coupe and the BMW 2 Series Convertible will each be powered by new four-cylinder petrol engines that further optimize the balance between driving pleasure and fuel consumption. The 2-litre power units both feature latest BMW TwinPower Turbo technology comprising a Twin Scroll turbo charger, direct petrol injection, VALVETRONIC and Double VANOS. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a standard 6-speed manual transmission and optionally via an 8-speed Steptronic transmission.

The new engines help the BMW 120i 3-door and the BMW 120i 5-door attain an increase in output of 5 kW/7 hp to 135 kW/184 hp. Equipped with the standard manual transmission or the optional 8-speed Steptronic transmission, both models accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.1 seconds. Combined fuel consumption is between 6.1 and 5.7 litres per 100 kilometres (automatic: 5.9 and 5.5 litres). CO2 emissions are between 140 and 131 grams per kilometres (135 – 126 g/km (figures as per EU test cycle, depending on selected tyre size).

Engine output of the models BMW 125i 3-door and BMW 125i 5-door has also increased by 5 kW/7 hp. With a power delivery of 165 kW/224 hp and the meanwhile standard 8-speed Steptronic transmission, both models now sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds. The enhanced dynamics are coupled with a lower fuel consumption of 5.9 to 5.7 litres per 100 kilometres and CO2 emissions of 134 to 130 grams per kilometre (figures as per EU test cycle, depending on selected tyre size).

The new version of the 135 kW/184 hp four-cylinder engine also optimizes efficiency of the BMW 220i Coupe and the BMW 220i Convertible. The BMW 220i Coupe accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.1 seconds (automatic: 7.2 seconds and achieves a combined fuel consumption of 6.1 bis 5.7 litres per 100 kilometres (5.9 – 5.5 litres) and CO2-emissions of 140 to 131 grams per kilometre (135 – 126 g/km). The BMW 220i Convertible sprints to100 km/h in 7.5 seconds (7.7 seconds) and combined fuel consumption is now between 6.5 and 6.1 litres per 100 kilometres (6.1 – 5.7 litres). CO2 emission levels are between 149 and 139 grams per kilometre (140 – 131 g/km (figures as per EU test cycle, depending on selected tyre size).

July 2016 will see the launch of the BMW 2 Series’ sportiest four-cylinder variants with a power output increase of 5 kW/7 hp to 185 kW/252 hp vs. their predecessors and with the model designations BMW 230i Coupe and BMW 230i Convertible. These also come as standard with a 6-speed manual transmission and optionally with an 8-speed Steptronic or 8-speed Steptronic sports transmission respectively. The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h is completed by the BMW 230i Coupe in 5.8 seconds (automatic: 5.6 seconds). Average fuel consumption is between 6.4 and 6.2 litres per 100 kilometres (5.9 – 5.7 litres) and CO2 emissions are between 147 and 142 grams per kilometre (134 – 130 g/km). The BMW 230i Convertible accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds (automatic: 5.9 seconds) and has a combined fuel consumption of 6.8 to 6.5 litres per 100 kilometres (6.2 – 6.0 litres). CO2 emissions are between 155 and 149 grams per kilometre (142 – 137 g/km (figures as per EU test cycle, depending on selected tyre size).

Characteristic design features for the BMW iPerformance models.
With the market launch of the first plug-in hybrid models, BMW eDrive technology comprising electric motors, lithium ion high-performance batteries and intelligent energy management have now been added to the BMW brand’s vehicle range. In addition to the three BMW 7 Series plug-in hybrid models available starting July 2016, three further segments offer a choice of vehicles combining a combustion engine with an electric drive. In future, they will bear the model designations BMW 225xe iPerformance Active Tourer, BMW 330e iPerformance Sedan and BMW X5 xDrive40e iPerformance. The technology transfer from BMW i automobile development, helping them attain a new level of dynamics and path-breaking efficiency, is now underscored by characteristic exterior design features.

In addition to the “eDrive” logo on the C pillar, the BMW iPerformance models will feature a BMW i logo on the front left and right sidewalls, blue hubcaps and a BMW kidney grill with slats painted in typical BMW i blue. From December 2016, these new features will be standard on the BMW X5 xDrive40e iPerformance and on all further BMW iPerformance models as early as from July 2016. Analogous to the model name plates on all BMW models, specific design features on BMW iPerformance models can also be omitted if the customer so wishes. Further equipment features originally designed for the BMW i3 and the BMW i8 and which are also available as standard or as options for all BMW iPerformance models, include hybrid-specific BMW ConnectedDrive services as well as the complete BMW i 360° ELECTRIC portfolio.

New from BMW ConnectedDrive: BMW iDrive with optimized menu display, telephony with wireless charging and WLAN hotspot available for further models.

From the summer of 2016, three new features from BMW ConnectedDrive, which were previously only available for the BMW 7 Series and BMW 6 Series, will also find their way to the BMW 1 Series, the BMW 2 Series Coupe and the BMW 2 Series Convertible, the BMW 3 Series and BMW 4 Series. A new, extremely clearly structured menu display and a higher screen resolution for the Control Display will in future optimize the control of vehicle, infotainment, navigation and communication functions via the iDrive controller. In conjunction with the navigation system Professional, the on-board monitor no longer displays the main menu and control options for the various functions in lists, but in the form of adjacently arranged tile symbols. Furthermore, the speech recognition feature of the navigation system Professional has been supplemented by the function Natural Language, with which spoken instructions can be given not only as predefined text modules, but also freely formulated in complete sentences.

The optional feature telephony with wireless charging enhances comfort when using mobile phones inside the vehicle. Inductively chargeable smartphones can be supplied wirelessly with electricity during the journey using the mobile telephone facility provided for this purpose in the centre console. Apart from the integration of the smartphone into the vehicle operating system, the new option also includes a connection to the exterior antenna and two USB ports as well as the WLAN hotspot function, which facilitates high-speed Internet connectivity for up to eight mobile end devices.

Wider choice of leather seats for the BMW 1 Series, BMW 2 Series, BMW 3 Series and BMW 4 Series.

As a variant that is ideally suited to the charisma of the model M Sport, the leather trim Dakota in the colour black with blue contrast stitching will be available for the BMW 1 Series, the BMW 2 Series Coupe and the BMW 2 Series Convertible as well as for all models of the BMW 3 Series and BMW 4 Series from July 2016. In the case of all BMW 3 Series and BMW 4 Series, both the model M Sport as well as the models Luxury Line and Sport Line can now be ordered with the seat variant Dakota Veneto Beige in combination with the interior colour black.
