La nouvelle BMW Série 2 Gran Coupé offre l'expérience de la sportivité et de l'élégance au segment des compactes haut de gamme. La deuxième génération du modèle 4 portes met désormais davantage l'accent sur ces qualités emblématiques de BMW. Une présence et des performances dynamiques accrues au niveau du design confèrent à la nouvelle BMW Série 2 Gran Coupé une allure particulièrement extravertie.

Une gamme de motorisations entièrement renouvelée, une technologie de suspension largement améliorée et des systèmes innovants de conduite et de stationnement automatisés sont le gage d’un plaisir de conduire unique.

Le caractère progressiste de la nouvelle BMW Série 2 Gran Coupé est également évident dans le domaine de la numérisation. L’expérience utilisateur dans l’habitacle repensé est définie par le nouveau BMW iDrive avec QuickSelect et une large gamme de services numériques et de jeux embarqués basés sur le BMW Operating System 9.

La nouvelle BMW Série 2 Coupé sera produite à l’usine du BMW Group de Leipzig, avec le lancement sur le marché qui débutera en mars 2025.

Élégance sportive dans le style caractéristique de la marque BMW.

Le design extérieur de la nouvelle BMW Série 2 Gran Coupé se définit par un avant expressif, une silhouette étirée dynamiquement et un arrière au design puissant. Tout ceci traduit encore plus clairement l'élégance sportive caractéristique d'une BMW Gran Coupé.

La large calandre BMW placée sous les phares et dotée d'une structure innovante de barres verticales et diagonales à l'intérieur, ainsi que la large prise d'air inférieure confèrent à la nouvelle BMW Série 2 Gran Coupé une allure surbaissée et semblant embrasser l’asphalte.

Les phares à LED de série comprennent des éléments verticaux pour les feux de jour et les clignotants. Des phares à LED adaptatifs avec feux de route matriciels anti-éblouissement, fonction d’éclairage de virage et accents bleus sont disponibles en option. L’option BMW Iconic Glow comprenant l’éclairage du contour de la calandre BMW sera proposée à compter de mars 2025.

La vue latérale est définie par le long capot, des porte-à-faux courts et une ligne de toit fluide. Une indentation prononcée au niveau de la transition vers l’arrière souligne la section athlétique des épaulements. À l’arrière de la vitre latérale élégamment allongée, un chiffre 2 discrètement gravé en relief souligne le pan coupé caractéristique dit de Hofmeister. L’arrière doit son look puissant et moderne à une structure de surface particulièrement généreuse, interrompue par quelques lignes seulement, à des feux plats dotés d’une encoche saisissante et à des sorties d’échappement intégrées de manière invisible (exception : BMW M235 xDrive Gran Coupé). Le pack M Sport et le pack M Sport Pro ne font qu’accentuer davantage les performances dynamiques raffinées du véhicule.

La gamme de finitions extérieures comprend deux finitions unies et sept finitions métallisées, ainsi que quatre finitions BMW Individual et un large choix de finitions spéciales BMW Individual. Une finition contrastée high-gloss black est disponible pour le toit.

La nouvelle édition de la BMW Série 2 Gran Coupé a été augmentée de 20 millimètres pour atteindre 4 546 millimètres, tandis que l'empattement mesure 2 670 millimètres. La largeur du véhicule est de 1 800 millimètres, tandis que sa hauteur a été augmentée de 25 millimètres pour atteindre 1 445 millimètres.

Intérieur sans cuir dans une ambiance haut de gamme.

Le nouvel intérieur de la BMW Série 2 Gran Coupé est entièrement dépourvu de cuir de série. La garniture Veganza/Alcantara est disponible en option, associée à des coutures contrastées cousues à la main pour le tableau de bord. Les garnitures intérieures rétroéclairées dynamiquement en aluminium fraisé contribuent également à l’ambiance haut de gamme raffinée et athlétique de la voiture. Le BMW Curved Display et le nouveau sélecteur de vitesse soulignent le caractère progressiste de l'habitacle.

Les nouveaux sièges offrent un niveau de confort élevé sur les longs trajets. Les sièges sport en option sont proposés en version Econeer, tandis que les sièges sport M sont également disponibles. Des sièges chauffants et des options de réglage électrique sont proposés pour toutes les versions. Les sièges sport peuvent également être combinés en option à une fonction massage, tandis qu’un soutien lombaire est possible pour les sièges M Sport. Le volant sport de série peut être remplacé par un volant M en cuir, lui aussi repensé. Il fait partie du pack M Sport et est équipé de palettes pour les changements de vitesse manuels. Un airbag interactif entre le conducteur et le passager avant contribue désormais de série à assurer une protection optimisée des occupants. Le dossier de la banquette arrière est divisé de série selon un rapport 40: 20: 40, tandis que le volume de rangement est de 430 litres (BMW 220 Gran Coupé, BMW 220d Gran Coupé : 360 litres).

Modèle haut de gamme alliant un ADN de course et des performances exceptionnelles.

La BMW M235 xDrive Gran Coupé (consommation en cycle mixte : 8,2 – 7,5 l/100 km (62 miles) ; émissions de CO₂, cycle mixte : 185 – 170 g/km selon WLTP ; classes de CO₂ : G – F) se situe au sommet de la gamme et offre des performances nettement améliorées. Propulsée par un moteur 4 cylindres de 221 kW/300 ch, la BMW M Performance accélère de 0 à 100 km/h (62 mph) en 4,9 secondes. Un pack M Technology pour des performances axées sur les circuits de course, comprenant des mesures supplémentaires de construction légère, des jantes M en alliage léger forgées de 19 pouces et un système de freinage M composite offrant des performances de décélération particulièrement élevées, est également proposé exclusivement pour la BMW M235 xDrive Gran Coupé.

Pack M Sport avec suspension M adaptative et direction sport.

Équipement de série de la nouvelle BMW M235 xDrive Gran Coupé proposé dans le cadre du pack M Sport en option pour tous les autres modèles, la suspension M adaptative améliore à la fois l’agilité et le confort sur de longues distances grâce à des amortisseurs variables, à commande mécanique et à fréquence sélective. Les pics de pression à l’intérieur des amortisseurs sont lissés au moyen de soupapes supplémentaires agissant côté traction. Avec la suspension M adaptative, le véhicule est abaissé jusqu’à 8 millimètres et inclut également une direction sport.

Nouvelle génération de moteurs, boîte de vitesses Steptronic à 7 rapports de série.

En outre, la gamme de moteurs pour le lancement sur le marché comprend des moteurs essence et diesel 4 cylindres avancés de 125 kW/170 ch sur la nouvelle BMW 220 Gran Coupé (consommation en cycle mixte : 5,7 – 5,2 l/100 km (62 miles) ; émissions de CO₂, cycle mixte : 129 – 119 g/km selon WLTP ; classe de CO₂ : D) et 120 kW/163 ch sur la nouvelle BMW 220d Gran Coupé (consommation en cycle mixte : 4,6 – 4,2 l/100 km (62 miles) ; émissions de CO₂, cycle mixte : 120 – 110 g/km selon WLTP ; classes de CO₂ : D – C) et 110 kW/150 ch sur la nouvelle BMW 218d Gran Coupé (consommation en cycle mixte : 5,0 – 4,6 l/100 km (62 miles) ; émissions de CO₂, cycle mixte : 130 – 120 g/km selon WLTP ; classe de CO₂ : D). Tous les moteurs transfèrent leur puissance à la route de série via une boîte de vitesses Steptronic à 7 rapports avec double embrayage. Les motorisations de la BMW 220 Gran Coupé et de la BMW 220d Gran Coupé sont électrifiées grâce à la technologie hybride légère 48 volts.

Amélioration de la rigidité de la carrosserie, poursuite du développement du châssis.

La rigidité accrue de la structure de la carrosserie et de l’assemblage du châssis aide la nouvelle BMW Série 2 Gran Coupé à améliorer l'agilité, la précision de la direction et la dynamique des virages. Le perfectionnement du châssis comprend une cinématique optimisée et une nouvelle technologie d'amortisseurs. Le déport accru des roues avant assure une conduite stable en ligne droite et de meilleures réactions de la direction.

Les équipements de série incluent également une limitation du patinage des roues à commande directe, un système de freinage intégré et des jantes en alliage léger de 17  pouces (BMW M235 xDrive Gran Coupé : 18 pouces). Le pack M Sport comprend une suspension M adaptative avec suspension abaissée, une direction sport et des jantes en alliage léger de 18 pouces. Parmi les options, on peut citer des jantes en alliage léger jusqu’à 19 pouces de diamètre et un système de freinage M Sport.

Systèmes modernes de conduite et de stationnement partiellement automatisés.

Les systèmes d’aide à la conduite de série et en option disponibles pour la nouvelle BMW Série 2 Gran Coupé établissent des normes parmi les concurrents en termes d’autonomie fonctionnelle et de fiabilité. Les fonctionnalités de série incluent l’assistant de conduite avec alerte de collision avant, l’alerte de franchissement de ligne, l’alerte de sortie de voie et la fonction Speed Limit Info, ainsi que l’assistant de stationnement avec assistant de recul.

Les points forts en option comprennent l’assistant de direction et de maintien dans la voie, l’assistant de limitation de vitesse automatique et un contrôle de vitesse d’itinéraire lors de l’utilisation du régulateur de vitesse actif avec fonction Stop & Go. Le Parking Assistant Professional est également disponible pour les modèles BMW 220 Gran Coupé et BMW 220d Gran Coupé : il permet au conducteur de contrôler les manœuvres de stationnement depuis l’extérieur de son véhicule à l’aide d’un smartphone et de l’application My BMW.

Nombreux équipements de série et options haut de gamme.

La gamme d’équipements de série considérablement élargie de la nouvelle BMW Série 2 Gran Coupé comprend en outre le BMW Live Cockpit Plus doté du système de navigation basé sur le cloud baptisé BMW Maps. De nouveaux packs d’équipements en option permettent une personnalisation ciblée. Par exemple, le Premium Pack Plus comprend le BMW Live Cockpit Professional avec affichage tête haute BMW et vue augmentée sur l’écran de contrôle, ainsi que le Parking Assistant Plus.

Le pack Premium comprend l’option téléphone avec recharge sans fil, l’accès confort, la projection du logo depuis les rétroviseurs extérieurs, le rétroviseur intérieur à fonction anti-éblouissement automatique et les phares adaptatifs à LED. Le programme des options propose également la climatisation automatique à deux zones, un toit panoramique en verre et le système de haut-parleurs Hi-Fi Harman/Kardon.

BMW iDrive avec QuickSelect et BMW Digital Premium.

Le BMW iDrive basé sur le BMW Operating System 9 s’invite à bord de la nouvelle BMW Série 2 Gran Coupé, pour une utilisation intuitive et pratique des fonctions du véhicule. La fonction « QuickSelect » permet d’accéder directement à toutes les fonctions principales du véhicule sans passer par un sous-menu. Cela signifie que le poste de conduite de la nouvelle BMW Série 2 Gran Coupé est constamment conçu pour garantir un fonctionnement multimodal à l'aide des fonctions tactiles, de la commande vocale et des boutons multifonctions situés sur le volant.

Dans le même temps, les mises à niveau BMW ConnectedDrive permettent aux clients d'ajouter certaines fonctions du véhicule pendant une période donnée. La nouvelle offre BMW Digital Premium est également disponible pour la nouvelle BMW Série 2 Gran Coupé dans le BMW ConnectedDrive Store. Elle met à disposition des services de divertissement spécifiques à chaque pays, tels que le streaming musical et vidéo, les actualités et les jeux vidéo, des My Modes supplémentaires, ainsi que des fonctions de navigation avancées telles que la vue satellite et l'affichage 3D des bâtiments, ainsi que la nouvelle fonction d’affichage des virages « Curve-Ahead View » en combinaison avec le BMW Head-Up Display.

Des mises à jour logicielles à distance permettent de télécharger gratuitement des améliorations de qualité et des fonctions supplémentaires sur le véhicule « over the air ». L’intégration du smartphone avec Apple CarPlay® et Android Auto est prévue de série sur la nouvelle BMW Série 2 Gran Coupé. Grâce au BMW ID et à l’application My BMW, les utilisateurs peuvent personnaliser leur expérience, tandis qu’avec la BMW Digital Key Plus en option, les smartphones compatibles et les montres intelligentes peuvent prendre en charge la fonction de clé du véhicule.

Tous les chiffres relatifs aux performances de conduite, à la consommation de carburant/électrique et aux émissions sont provisoires.

Toutes les variantes de modèles, tous les niveaux d’équipement, toutes les spécifications techniques, valeurs de consommation et d’émissions décrites correspondent à ce qui est disponible sur le marché automobile en Allemagne. Les dimensions se rapportent à un véhicule doté d’un équipement de base en Allemagne, en fonction de la taille des jantes et des pneus sélectionnés, ainsi que de l’équipement en option sélectionné. Ceux-ci peuvent évoluer en fonction de la configuration de la voiture.

La consommation de carburant, les émissions de CO₂ et la consommation électrique ont été déterminées conformément aux méthodes prescrites par le règlement VO (CE) 715/2007 tel que modifié. Lorsqu’une autonomie est affichée, les chiffres WLTP tiennent compte de l’impact des options supplémentaires.

Sa gamme de moteurs comprend des moteurs essence et diesel quatre cylindres très efficaces, qui transmettent leur puissance à la route via une boîte de vitesses Steptronic à huit rapports et une propulsion classique, ainsi qu’un moteur six cylindres en ligne dans la nouvelle BMW M240i xDrive Coupé, unique sur ce secteur très concurrentiel (consommation de carburant, cycle mixte : 8,8 – 8,1 l/100 km (62 miles) ; émissions de CO₂, cycle mixte : 200 – 185 g/km selon WLTP ; classe de CO₂ : G).

La nouvelle BMW Série 2 Coupé sera commercialisée en août 2024. Elle sera fabriquée dans l’usine BMW Group de San Luis Potosí, au Mexique, où la nouvelle BMW Série 3 Berline équipée d’un moteur à combustion et d’une propulsion hybride rechargeable y est également produite. L’usine, inaugurée en 2019, dispose de processus de production particulièrement performants et durables.

Nouveaux éléments phares du design, pack M Sport désormais de série.

Les dimensions, la structure de la caisse, le concept de conduite et la technologie de châssis de la BMW Série 2 Coupé sont conçus pour transmettre le plaisir de conduite caractéristique de la marque sous une forme particulièrement concentrée. La face avant distinctive avec des phares ronds individuels, la calandre horizontale BMW et le bossage de puissance sur le long capot, les surfaces athlétiques de la vue latérale, les larges passages de roue et le couvercle court du coffre qui se termine par une entrée d'air saisissante confèrent à la BMW Série 2 Coupé une apparence inimitable. Avec les caractéristiques de design du pack M Sport désormais de série, la nouvelle édition du modèle compact deux portes exprime encore plus son caractère dynamique. Le design spécifique M comprend des prises d’air extra larges à l’avant du véhicule, des jupes latérales puissantes et une jupe arrière saisissante avec réflecteurs verticaux et un insert de type diffuseur.

À l’avant de la nouvelle BMW Série 2 Coupé, le contour de la calandre BMW est désormais fini en chrome nacré. Les jupes latérales et la partie inférieure de la jupe arrière ne sont plus peintes en noir, mais dans la couleur du véhicule. L’insert du diffuseur est en finition high-gloss black pour un effet contrasté à l’arrière.

La BMW M240i xDrive Coupé offre sa propre version des caractéristiques de design spécifiques au modèle M. Ces éléments optimisent l’alimentation en air de refroidissement et l’équilibre aérodynamique. Ils comprennent les inserts en high-gloss black pour les prises d’air latérales, le becquet noir sur la jupe avant, le becquet arrière spécifique au modèle et les sorties d’échappement trapézoïdales à gauche et à droite de la jupe arrière. Les coques de rétroviseurs de la BMW M sont désormais en finition high-gloss black.

La finition M high-gloss Shadow fait désormais partie de l’équipement de série de la nouvelle BMW M240i xDrive Coupé et de tous les autres modèles. Le pack M Pro Sport, disponible en option sur toutes les variantes de la nouvelle BMW Série 2 Coupé, complète le design extérieur dynamique avec des feux M Shadow Line, un becquet arrière M en sapphire black et la finition M high-gloss Shadow Line avec des caractéristiques étendues. Un système de freinage M sport avec étriers peints en rouge et ceintures de sécurité M est également prévu.

Nouvelles teintes et jantes en alliage léger.

Les finitions de peinture de la nouvelle BMW Série 2 Coupé comprennent deux teintes unies et sept teintes métallisées. Les deux teintes BMW Individual Frozen Pure Grey metallic et Frozen Portimao Blue metallic sont également disponibles. Fire Red metallic et Skyscraper Grey metallic sont disponibles pour la première fois sur le modèle deux portes. La teinte unie Zandvoort Blue est disponible exclusivement pour la BMW M240i xDrive Coupé.

Toutes les variantes de la nouvelle BMW Série 2 Coupé sont équipées de série de jantes en alliage M 18 pouces (BMW M240i xDrive Coupé : 19 pouces) : jantes M 19 pouces en alliage léger à doubles rayons en finition bicolore. De nouvelles jantes M en alliage léger 19 pouces à doubles rayons sont disponibles en option. Elles sont disponibles en Jetblack ou en finition bicolore. La gamme BMW Individual comprend également un choix de nouvelles jantes en alliage léger de 19 pouces à rayons en Y et en finition bicolore. Toutes les jantes en alliage léger de 19 pouces sont associées à des pneus mixtes.

Nouvelles touches de sportivité et numérisation de l’habitacle.

Plus que jamais, l'intérieur de la BMW Série 2 Coupé offre l'ambiance idéale pour une expérience de conduite intense dans un modèle à quatre places. La ligne de toit arrière, la console centrale haute et les surfaces harmonieusement intégrées du tableau de bord et des panneaux de porte créent une sensation d’espace enveloppante. Une impression encore accentuée par le ciel de pavillon anthracite, qui fait partie du pack M Sport.

Les modifications intérieures concernent également la numérisation.

 Le BMW Curved Display joue un rôle de plus en plus important dans le fonctionnement intuitif des fonctions du véhicule. Le système d’affichage entièrement numérique comprend un écran d'information de 12,3 pouces et un écran de contrôle de 14,9 pouces. Il sert de plateforme pour le BMW iDrive amélioré avec QuickSelect, basé sur le système d'exploitation BMW 8.5. Cela signifie que la climatisation automatique ainsi que la fonction de chauffage des sièges et du volant, si elle est installée, peuvent être commandées par simple toucher sur le Control Display ou par commande vocale. Cette numérisation donne lieu à une réduction supplémentaire du nombre de boutons et de commandes dans le poste de conduite et s’accompagne d’une refonte du tableau de bord. De nouveaux boutons de commande sur les ouïes de ventilation au centre du tableau de bord et côté conducteur et passager permettent de régler la direction du flux d’air en les tournant et en les inclinant.

L’éclairage d’ambiance de série de la nouvelle BMW Série 2 Coupé comprend également un nouvel éclairage en cascade intégré dans les caches des ouïes de ventilation centrales. La couleur et la luminosité de l’éclairage en cascade peuvent être réglées en fonction des préférences individuelles, avec neuf univers de couleurs au choix. Les paramètres individuels de couleur et de luminosité sont enregistrés dans un profil. Ils concernent également l’éclairage de l’espace aux pieds, le compartiment de rangement à l’avant de la console centrale et les contours des panneaux de porte. La gamme de fonctions de l'éclairage intérieur comprend également une animation de bienvenue et de départ atmosphérique, comprenant un tapis de lumière dans la zone d'entrée et des signaux lumineux pour indiquer les appels entrants et, en option, une porte ouverte.

Nouveaux volants, surfaces des sièges et habillages intérieurs.

La nouvelle BMW Série 2 Coupé est équipée de série d’un volant M en cuir. La nouvelle version est dotée d’une jante de volant aplatie en bas, de branches modifiées avec précision et de repères centraux discrets. L'ambiance sportive de l'habitacle est également soulignée par un repère central rouge à 12 heures et des surpiqûres contrastées aux couleurs de BMW M GmbH. Il souligne également l'ambiance sportive de l'habitacle avec un repère central rouge à 12 heures et des surpiqûres contrastées dans les couleurs de BMW M GmbH.

Les sièges sport chauffants de série pour le conducteur et le passager avant contribuent à l'expérience de conduite intense de la nouvelle BMW Série 2 Coupé. Des options de réglage à commande électrique comprenant une fonction mémoire côté conducteur et un support lombaire sont disponibles en option. Les sièges sport M en option offrent un large éventail de réglages d’une simple pression sur un bouton, ainsi qu’un soutien lombaire et des appuie-têtes partiellement intégrés. Avec leur format baquet et leur largeur de dossier réglable, ils offrent un soutien latéral optimal dans les virages dynamiques. Les contours des sièges arrière et les appuie-têtes intégrés leur confèrent un caractère individuel distinctif.

Les nouveaux sièges noirs M Performtex incarnent une sportivité avant-gardiste. Ils sont de série sur toutes les versions de la nouvelle BMW Série 2 Coupé. Ce garnissage en velours allie une haute qualité de matériaux et un design sportif à un faible poids et une méthode de production optimisée pour la durabilité. Le garnissage perforé Sensatec en option est désormais disponible en noir et cognac, ainsi que la nouvelle version Tacora Red avec matelassage décoratif. La nouvelle version noire du garnissage en cuir Vernasca avec accents rouges est également disponible en option.

La gamme d'habillages intérieurs en option de la nouvelle BMW Série 2 Coupé comprend également quelques ajouts attrayants. En alternative à la finition standard Rhombus anthracite aluminium, les finitions en bois noble Fineline light open-pore et Ash grey-blue open-pore, ainsi que les garnitures intérieures M Carbon Fibre sont désormais disponibles. De nouveaux équipements spéciaux offrent des options supplémentaires pour personnaliser l’ambiance haut de gamme de l’habitacle de manière encore plus exclusive. Les applications en verre « CraftedClarity » confèrent au sélecteur de vitesses, au contrôleur BMW et au bouton start/stop un aspect et un toucher particulièrement qualitatifs.

Moteurs puissants et efficients, suspension M Sport de série.

La gamme de motorisations de la nouvelle BMW Série 2 Coupé, avec le moteur six cylindres en ligne de 3,0 litres en haut de gamme, occupe une position unique face à la concurrence. Grâce à la transmission intégrale intelligente, le moteur 275 kW/374 ch délivre sa puissance de manière particulièrement confiante et dynamique, accélérant la BMW M240i xDrive Coupé de 0 à 100 km/h (62 mph) en 4,3 secondes. Outre le moteur six cylindres en ligne du modèle BMW M, la nouvelle BMW Série 2 Coupé est disponible avec trois autres moteurs essence quatre cylindres et un moteur diesel de 2,0 litres. Le modèle d’entrée de gamme est la nouvelle BMW 218i Coupé (consommation, cycle mixte : 7,1 – 6,5 l/100 km (62 miles) ; émissions de CO₂, cycle mixte : 160 – 147 g/km selon WLTP ; classes de CO₂ : F – E), qui est propulsée par un moteur essence de 115 kW/156 ch et accélère à 100 km/h (62 mph) en 8,7 secondes.

Viennent ensuite la nouvelle BMW 220i Coupé (consommation, cycle mixte : 6,9 – 6,4 l/100 km (62 miles) ; émissions de CO₂, cycle mixte : 158 – 145 g/km selon WLTP ; classes de CO₂ : F – E) avec 135 kW/184 ch et une accélération de 7,5 secondes, et la nouvelle BMW 230i Coupé (consommation, cycle mixte : 7,1 – 6,6 l/100 km (62 miles) ; émissions de CO₂, cycle mixte : 162 – 150 g/km selon WLTP ; classes de CO₂ : F – E), dont la puissance maximale de 180 kW/245 ch permet le sprint standard en 5,9 secondes.

Le moteur diesel de la nouvelle BMW 220d Coupé combine de manière unique puissance de traction et efficacité dans un modèle deux portes sportif (consommation de carburant, cycle mixte : 5,4 – 4,9 l/100 km (62 miles) ; émissions de CO₂, cycle mixte : 141 – 129 g/km selon WLTP ; classes de CO₂ : E – D. Il développe une puissance maximale de 140 kW/190 ch et est associé à la technologie hybride légère de 48 volts. Son démarreur-générateur, intégré à l’entraînement par courroie, soutient le moteur thermique avec une puissance supplémentaire de 8 kW/11 ch. Cela permet à la nouvelle BMW 220d Coupé d’atteindre les 100 km/h (62 mph) en 6,9 secondes.

Tous les moteurs sont associés à une boîte de vitesses Steptronic à 8 rapports. La nouvelle version du modèle compact deux portes est non seulement disponible de série sur la BMW M240i xDrive Coupé, mais aussi sur la BMW 230i Coupé, la BMW 220i Coupé et la BMW 220d Coupé en version transmission Steptronic Sport à 8 rapports. Dans le même temps, le mode de conduite SPORT est activé avec les réglages appropriés pour tous les systèmes de conduite et de suspension. Ce changement de mode est désormais également visualisé par les graphiques correspondants sur l’écran d’information.

La suspension M Sport, qui équipe de série les modèles quatre cylindres de la nouvelle BMW Série 2 Coupé, améliore sensiblement l’agilité et la dynamique en virage grâce à sa suspension ferme et à ses amortisseurs dépendant de la course. Elle est complétée par un système de direction sport variable avec un rapport dépendant de l’angle de braquage. La nouvelle BMW M240i xDrive Coupé est disponible en option avec un châssis M adaptatif avec direction sport variable. Ses amortisseurs à commande électronique offrent trois cartes caractéristiques, qui peuvent être activées selon le mode de conduite sélectionné. La voiture BMW M est équipée de série d’un différentiel M sport en pont et d’un système de freinage M sport, qui est également disponible en option pour les autres modèles.

Fonctionnement intuitif, services numériques innovants : BMW Operating System 8.5 et BMW iDrive avec QuickSelect.

Dans la nouvelle version de la BMW Série 2 Coupé, le BMW Operating System 8.5 fournit la base d'une utilisation particulièrement intuitive et pratique via le BMW iDrive amélioré, avec QuickSelect et l'utilisation de services numériques innovants. Le système est désormais encore plus cohérent et peut être utilisé à l'aide de la fonction tactile sur le Control Display et du langage naturel via le BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant. La version actuelle de BMW iDrive comprend un nouvel écran d’accueil qui affiche en permanence la vue cartographique du système de navigation ou un autre écran sélectionnable individuellement sur une grande surface. Côté conducteur, les widgets sont affichés au même niveau dans une barre verticale et peuvent être sélectionnés directement à l’aide du raccourci QuickSelect sans avoir à passer par un sous-menu. La nouvelle structure de menu plate facilite grandement la navigation entre les différentes fonctions et aide le conducteur de la nouvelle BMW Série 2 Coupé à se concentrer sur les conditions de circulation.

Le BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant peut désormais être utilisé en suédois, polonais et néerlandais. Vous avez désormais le choix entre deux visualisations pour ce compagnon numérique sur le Control Display. Des symboles graphiques supplémentaires y sont également affichés en réponse à des commandes vocales sélectionnées.

Le système de navigation BMW Maps, qui équipe de série la nouvelle BMW Série 2 Coupé dans le cadre du BMW Live Cockpit Plus, est basé sur le BMW Operating System 8.5 et offre un accès encore plus facile à la destination, des informations supplémentaires pendant la conduite et des optimisations supplémentaires pour un guidage routier rapide et précis. En combinaison avec le BMW Live Cockpit Professional en option, l'affichage tête haute BMW en couleur est complété par la fonction Augmented View. Il améliore l’affichage cartographique du système de navigation avec des informations contextuelles en temps réel. Un flux vidéo en direct du point de vue du conducteur est affiché sur le Control Display ou l’Information Display et complété par des informations pertinentes telles que des flèches directionnelles pour un guidage précis de l’itinéraire.

La nouvelle BMW Série 2 Coupé facilite également le lien entre le véhicule et le BMW ID du client ainsi que l’application My BMW. Les clients peuvent utiliser le BMW ID pour payer les frais de stationnement par voie numérique directement dans le véhicule dans de nombreux pays européens. Une carte eSIM personnelle peut être activée de série dans le véhicule. Elle utilise la norme de téléphonie mobile 5G et permet aux clients d’utiliser les fonctionnalités de communication et de mise en réseau de leur contrat de téléphonie mobile dans le véhicule, même s’ils n’ont pas leur smartphone avec eux. L’intégration du smartphone avec Apple CarPlay® et Android Auto™ est également disponible de série.

Outre le contenu du pack M Sport, la nouvelle BMW Série 2 Coupé offre une large gamme d'équipements de série supplémentaires pour améliorer le plaisir de conduite. Cela inclut les sièges avant chauffants, le pack rétroviseurs extérieurs et le système d’alarme. La nouvelle BMW M240i xDrive Coupé est également équipée de série d’un vitrage de protection solaire.

Munich. The current new editions of the BMW X1 and the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer are characterised by offering versatile driving pleasure. The fact that the progress associated with the generation change also leads to an increase in active and passive safety has now been confirmed in the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP). The independent safety experts of the European Consumer Protection Institute awarded both the Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) and the modern all-rounder in the premium compact segment the highest rating of 5 stars. In the demanding test procedure, the new BMW X1 and the new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer stood out thanks to their excellent occupant protection in collisions of various types, effective protection for pedestrians and cyclists, as well as effective accident avoidance systems.

The extensive standard equipment featuring safety-relevant driver assistance systems decisively contributed to the 5-star rating. Above all, the latest generation of front collision warning with braking function provides an additional plus in safety in urban traffic. It can now also detect pedestrians and cyclists approaching parallel to the lane from behind or in front when turning right, effectively helping to avoid a collision with weaker road users. In addition, the new system warns of oncoming traffic when turning left. All of the driver assistance systems used in the new BMW X1 and the new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer are among the best on the market and impressed the Euro NCAP safety experts with their range of functions and reliable level of response.

The new BMW X1 and the new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer convinced the experts with their innovative systems in the area of passive safety. Both models feature a centre airbag between the driver and front passenger seats as standard. This system, used for the first time in BMW models in the compact segment, was rated to be extremely effective in the test. It is the latest component of the BMW integrated safety concept, which is being advanced constantly and which, in addition to highly resilient support structures and precisely designed deformation paths, also includes a model-specific combination of precisely coordinated restraint systems.

In various collision tests, this integrated safety concept proved to guarantee a high level of protection against injury at all times in both models, regardless of the size and seating position of the occupants.  In both the front and rear seats, the headrests and seats of the new BMW X1 and the new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer effectively protect against cervical injuries that can be triggered by a rear-end collision, according to Euro NCAP. In addition, the test experts highlighted the standard equipment featured by both models with the intelligent emergency call and an emergency braking system for avoiding secondary collisions.

To reduce the risk of injury to pedestrians and cyclists, the new BMW X1 and new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer feature active engine compartment lids. In the event of an impact, the engine compartment lids are raised by means of pyrotechnic actuators to create additional deformation space between them and the hard components underneath. The system proved to be reliable and effective at different speeds in the Euro NCAP safety test.

The ratings of the Euro NCAP testing institute are a benchmark for accident safety recognised Europe-wide and the safety level is being raised constantly. Only new vehicles that offer excellent impact protection and are also well equipped with comprehensive and practical technology for accident avoidance receive the highest rating of 5 stars.

Leipzig. BMW Group Plant Leipzig is launching series production of the second generation of the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer. Having first reached dealerships almost seven years ago, in the autumn of 2014, the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer was quick to establish itself in the market. More than 400,000 customers have since opted to buy the premium compact, which combines functional spaciousness with a dynamic drive concept. More than 368,000 of the vehicles concerned were manufactured in Leipzig. The successor of the sporty all-rounder will be made in Leipzig only.

“After the successful debut of the first-generation BMW 2 Series Active Tourer, BMW Group Plant Leipzig is proud to produce its completely redesigned successor,” emphasised Plant Director Hans-Peter Kemser. “This vehicle is another opportunity for us to prove our wealth of experience and expertise in the manufacture of front-wheel drives in the BMW production network. The BMW 2 Series Active Tourer will also keep our plant running at capacity over the longer term.”

The key characteristics of the latest model generation are its extremely dynamic styling, clear design language and redesigned interior. In addition, the new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer takes mild hybrid technology into the compact class for the very first time, along with the latest connectivity features and extended equipment packages.

BMW 2 Series Active Tourer sets new standards

Making its debut back in 2014, the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer caused a revolution in the BMW product portfolio. Not only did it establish the Sports Activity Tourer segment, it was also the first front-wheel drive BMW. With its functional space concept, three-cylinder engines – a first for BMW at the time – and cutting-edge front-wheel drive, the newcomer offered all the dynamism of a BMW and heralded a new era for the brand.

The second-generation BMW 2 Series Active Tourer sets standards once again. A pioneer, it paves the way for the forthcoming BMW and MINI models joining the compact segment over the coming years. Aspects such as the enhancements to the drivetrain and cockpit, and the new onboard network – now found in petrol and diesel-powered BMW 2 Series Active Tourer – all set new standards.

Seamless integration into production processes

Renowned for its extreme flexibility, Plant Leipzig had previously been entrusted with the manufacture of the BMW Group’s first electrified models – the BMW i3 and BMW i8. It is now the plant of choice once again, for the launch of this new vehicle concept. Despite the new requirements, only minor adjustments had to be made to the paintshop and assembly systems, and the only new production area was introduced into the bodyshop.

The second generation of the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer has now been integrated into production just as seamlessly and will roll off Leipzig’s production lines along with the BMW 1 Series and BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe.

Dynamic design and updated interior

In terms of exterior design, the new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer now exudes even more sportiness and self-assurance, thanks to its dynamically elongated proportions and the clear, reduced treatment of its surfaces.

Inside, it offers a completely new sense of space. The interior has been fully redesigned, taking its cues from the fully electric technology flagship, the BMW iX. Particularly striking are the BMW Curved Display, the ‘floating’ armrest with its integrated control panel, and the slim instrument panel. Thanks to these features, the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer is the first non-electric BMW to have the cockpit layout of an electric one.

Another first in the latest BMW 2 Series Active Tourer is the new BMW iDrive, which makes its debut appearance in the premium compact segment. The latest generation of the iDrive control system is based on BMW Operating System 8.

The second-generation BMW 2 Series Active Tourer designed to accommodate combustion engines as well as electrified drive systems, and just a few months after market launch in summer 2022, two plug-in hybrids will be added to the range.

The BMW 2 Series Active Tourer is due for market launch in Germany on 26 February 2022.

Its uncomplicated functionality, progressive character profile and range of standard equipment – which comfortably exceeds that of the predecessor model and stands out against its rivals – make the new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer a particularly attractive proposition for active, lifestyle-oriented target groups. Four model variants with front-wheel drive and outputs ranging from 100 kW/136 hp to 160 kW/218 hp will be available at launch in February 2022. The new model will be built at BMW Group Plant Leipzig and its vehicle architecture is designed to accommodate both combustion engines and electrified drive systems. Two plug-in hybrid models will be added to the line-up a few months after launch.

Design: modern crossover character, striking front end, dynamically stretched proportions.
The exterior design of the new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer brings lifestyle attributes and aesthetic sophistication together into a modern crossover character profile. The clean, reduced surface treatment exudes sporting prowess and assured presence. At the front end of the car, these qualities are expressed most prominently by the striking BMW kidney grille, with its increased dimensions, and the slim contours of the headlights. The new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer comes as standard with full-LED headlights. Adaptive LED Headlights with cornering light function, non-dazzling matrix high beam, urban lights, a motorway beam pattern and bad weather light are on the options list.

Much more heavily raked A-pillars compared to the predecessor model, a stretched side window graphic, flush-fitting door handles and slim C-pillars also play their part in the new car’s dynamic silhouette. The newly designed door shoulders around the A-pillars create much improved all-round visibility. With its broad shoulders and slim LED light units, the rear of the new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer cuts a particularly muscular figure. The exhaust tailpipes are integrated into the rear apron out of sight on all model variants.

Depending on the model variant, 16-inch or 17-inch light-alloy wheels are fitted as standard. Light-alloy wheels up to 19 inches in size are available as an option. The new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer can also be ordered in Luxury Line trim or with an M Sport package as alternatives to basic specification. Two non-metallic and nine metallic paint finishes are available for the exterior.

The size and versatility of the new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer’s interior are emphasised by the fundamental redesign introduced by the second-generation car. The cabin geometry and a host of details take their cues from the interior concept of the BMW iX technology flagship. This creates a progressive premium ambience, the key features of which include the slim instrument panel, the BMW Curved Display, the “floating” armrest with integrated control panel and an across-the-board reduction in the number of physical control elements.

The space underneath the armrest is used as a storage compartment, while the area in front of it houses generously sized cup holders and a newly designed smartphone slot. The phone remains visible to the driver and front passenger here and can be wirelessly charged as an option.

The new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer offers occupants in its five seats noticeably better long-distance comfort that of its predecessor. The newly developed, multi-adjustable seats can also be ordered in optional Sensatec perforated or Vernasca leather. Also on the options list are sport seats with prominent bolsters and shoulder areas, electric seat adjustment (including memory function), lumbar support and a massage function. Acoustic comfort and occupant protection have been stepped up too. Indeed, a new interaction airbag between the driver and front passenger is added to the integrated passive safety concept.

An array of storage areas and the multi-adjustable rear seats also contribute to the car’s uncomplicated functionality in everyday use and on longer tips away. With the rear backrests in their cargo position, boot capacity increases by as much as 90 litres. The rear seats can also slide forwards by up to 13 centimetres. This and the 40 : 20 : 40 split/folding rear seat backrests present customers with a load compartment that can be used for a multitude of purposes. Boot capacity is 470 –1,455 litres in the BMW 218i Active Tourer and BMW 218d Active Tourer and 415 – 1,405 litres in the BMW 220i Active Tourer and BMW 223i Active Tourer. Automatic tailgate operation comes as standard, while an electrically operated trailer tow hitch can be ordered as an option.

Two-zone automatic climate control, sports steering wheel and BMW Maps as standard.
The progressive premium character of the new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer is also underscored by its extensive standard specification. Fitted as standard alongside the BMW Maps navigation system are four USB-C ports and a 12V power socket in both the centre console and the boot, intelligent two-zone automatic climate control, a Sport leather steering wheel, a rain sensor with windscreen wiper control and automatic headlight activation, a much larger number of driver assistance systems compared with the predecessor model, and Park Assist with Reversing Assist Camera.

Newly structured equipment packages enable extremely specific individualisation of the car. Customers can order high-quality interior trim strips, as well as Sensatec surfaces for the instrument panel and front door shoulders with eye-catching contrast stitching. Other contributors to the premium feel include a mirror package, ambient lighting, a panoramic glass sunroof and a Harman Kardon Sound System.

BMW 2 Series Active Tourer: setting the pace in innovative powertrain technology.
The new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer is also at the vanguard of powertrain technology. The extensively updated combustion engines increase driving pleasure while reducing fuel consumption and emissions, and the latest generation of the seven-speed Steptronic dual-clutch transmission – now standard for all model variants – is likewise extremely efficient. A new version of 48V mild hybrid technology is making its debut in the BMW 223i Active Tourer (fuel consumption: 6.6 – 6.0 litres/100 km [42.8 – 47.1 mpg imp]; CO₂ emissions combined: 149 – 137 g/km in the WLTP test cycle) and BMW 220i Active Tourer (fuel consumption: 6.5 – 5.9 litres/100 km [43.5 – 47.9 mpg imp]; CO₂ emissions combined: 148 – 133 g/km in the WLTP test cycle). The electric motor integrated into the automatic transmission supplements the combustion engine with a power boost now increased to 14 kW/19 hp.

The new BMW 223i Active Tourer has an output of 160 kW/218 hp (generated jointly by the 150 kW/204 hp combustion engine and 14 kW/19 hp electric drive system), and the BMW 220i Active Tourer develops 125 kW/170 hp (generated jointly by the 115 kW/156 hp combustion engine and the 14 kW/19 hp electric drive system). Also available from launch is the 100 kW/136 hp BMW 218i Active Tourer (fuel consumption: 6.8 – 6.2 litres/100 km [41.5 – 45.6 mpg imp]; CO₂ emissions combined: 154 – 140 g/km in the WLTP test cycle).

All the petrol engines feature a new combustion process and a dual injection system. The diesel engine powering the new BMW 218d Active Tourer (fuel consumption: 5.3 – 4.8 litres/100 km [53.3 – 58.9 mpg imp]; CO₂ emissions combined: 138 – 125 g/km in the WLTP test cycle) employs low-friction pistons and two-stage turbocharging with increased efficiency. Maximum output is 110 kW/150 hp.

The line-up will expand further in summer 2022 with the addition of two plug-in hybrid models. These will feature fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology for the first time, enhancing dynamism and giving them a significantly longer electric range.

Sportiness and long-distance comfort in perfect harmony.
The chassis technology in the new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer has been engineered to deliver the brand’s customary sporting flair combined with impressive levels of ride comfort in every situation. With a body construction that reduces weight while increasing rigidity, a long wheelbase, and wider tracks than its predecessor, the car’s basic design provides the ideal blueprint for the job at hand.

Steering precision and agility have been enhanced by targeted updates for the single-joint spring strut axle at the front and the three-link rear axle. The near-actuator wheel slip limitation function included as standard improves both traction and directional stability. The integrated braking system is another new feature, as is the extra, lift-related damping for the front axle. The optional adaptive M suspension includes frequency-selective damping, sport steering and a 15-millimetre drop in ride height.

A fresh variety of systems for automated driving and parking.
The largest selection of systems for automated driving and parking yet offered for a BMW compact-segment model are available for the new edition of the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer. Standard specification includes Cruise Control with brake function, Lane Departure Warning, the Evasion Assistant and front-collision warning. The latter now also reacts to oncoming traffic when turning left and to pedestrians and cyclists and when turning right (in countries where vehicles drive on the right). The Parking Assistant including Reversing Assist Camera and Reversing Assistant also comes as standard. Options include the Steering and Lane Control Assistant, Active Cruise Control with Stop&Go function, Active Navigation, the exit warning function, the BMW Head-Up Display and the Surround View, Remote 3D View, BMW Drive Recorder and Remote Theft Recorder functions.

Existing functions can be improved or expanded by means of Remote Software Upgrades, and customers can also use Functions on Demand to select and import a range of functions at a later stage, such as Driving Assistant Plus including Active Cruise Control with Stop&Go function (availability depends on the hardware fitted in the vehicle and the market conditions).

The new BMW iDrive makes its debut in the premium compact segment.
The new generation of the control/operation system iDrive, included here in a compact-segment model from BMW for the first time, is based on BMW Operating System 8. It links up as standard with the BMW Curved Display – with its state-of-the-art graphics and menu structure – and the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant with expanded skills range. The BMW Curved Display fully digital screen grouping is formed by a 10.25-inch information display and a control display with a screen diagonal of 10.7 inches. The new BMW iDrive is built around intuitive touch control and voice control.

The new My Modes bring together individually selected vehicle settings with the relevant interior experience worlds. The cloud-based navigation system BMW Maps can be specified as an option with the Augmented View function on the control display. The interior camera allows those on board to take snapshots during a journey and send them to their smartphone. New BMW 2 Series Active Tourer customers can also make use of a Personal eSIM designed to work with the new 5G mobile technology, as well as the BMW ID for individualisation of the user experience and further improved smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Munich. The sales launch of the BMW iX and the BMW i4 in November 2021 marks the beginning of a new era of purely electric premium mobility. In addition to sustainable driving pleasure, the two new models also offer the latest innovations in the field of driver assistance systems and, with the new generation of the BMW iDrive operating system, represent the future of intuitive interaction between driver and vehicle. Parallel to this, the BMW model range will also undergo targeted further development in autumn 2021. Additional drive variants and innovations in the areas of design and digital services increase the diversity and attractiveness of the current range.

The model range of the new BMW 4 Series Convertible will be expanded by three new drive variants from November 2021. In future, an 8-speed Steptronic transmission will be standard equipment for one additional model variant each of the BMW X1 and the BMW X2. New paint finishes are available for the BMW 1 Series, BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé, BMW X2, BMW X3 and BMW X4 models. The functional scope of the My BMW App is complemented by further digital services. The BMW i brand is not only setting trends with its two new models. The pioneer of all-electric premium mobility, the BMW i3, will be offered in a limited Unique Forever Edition from November 2021. And in the BMW iX3, a predictive battery heat management system will optimise the way in which DC fast charging stations will be used in the future.

BMW 4 Series Convertible: Two additional BMW M automobiles and a further all-wheel drive model.
The combination of sporty performance and open-air pleasure in a BMW 4 Series model will be enriched even further in autumn 2021. In the new BMW M 440i Convertible (combined fuel consumption: 8.3 – 7.7 l/100 km according to WLTP; combined CO₂ emissions: 190 - 175 g/km according to WLTP), a 275 kW/374 hp inline 6-cylinder petrol engine with 48-volt mild hybrid technology ensures particularly purist driving pleasure by transferring its power to the rear wheels. An 8-speed Steptronic sports transmission and an M sports differential in the final drive also contribute to the thrilling driving dynamics as standard. This is reflected, among other things, by accerlation from 0 - 100 km/h from standstill in 5.2 seconds.

An inline 6-cylinder diesel engine and the intelligent BMW xDrive all-wheel drive system make the second new BMW M automobile a thrilling open-top drive. With a peak output of 250 kW/340 hp, a maximum torque of 700 Nm and 48-volt mild hybrid technology, the new BMW M440d xDrive Convertible (combined fuel consumption: 6.6 – 6.0 l/100 km according to WLTP; combined CO₂ emissions: 172 - 157 g/km according to WLTP) has impressive pulling power. 5.0 seconds are sufficient for the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h. An 8-speed Steptronic sports transmission and an M sports differential are also standard equipment in this model variant.

In addition, the model range for the open-top four-seater in the premium mid-size segment is expanded to include the new BMW 430i xDrive Convertible (combined fuel consumption: 8.1 – 7.3 l/100 km according to WLTP; combined CO₂ emissions: 183 - 166 g/km according to WLTP). With its 180 kW/245 hp 4-cylinder petrol engine, an 8-speed Steptronic transmission and intelligent all-wheel drive, it accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 6.3 seconds. The 8-speed Steptronic sports transmission and the M sports differential are optionally available for this model.

BMW X1 xDrive18d and BMW X2 xDrive18d now feature 8-speed Steptronic transmission as standard.
Driving pleasure and comfort will be enhanced in autumn 2021 as the 8-speed Steptronic transmission is included in further model variants of the BMW X1 and BMW X2 as standard. The fast and efficient automatic transmission is characterised by a high level of shifting comfort and a particularly favourable internal efficiency. In future, it will also be available as standard with the 110 kW/150 hp 4-cylinder diesel engine of the BMW X1 xDrive18d models (combined fuel consumption: 6.1 – 5.4 l/100 km according to WLTP; combined CO₂ emissions: 159 – 142 g/km according to WLTP) and the BMW X2 xDrive18d (combined fuel consumption: 6.1 – 5.4 l/100 km according to WLTP; combined CO₂ emissions: 160 - 142 g/km according to WLTP).

With the new drive combination, both models accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 9.4 seconds. An optional 8-speed Steptronic sports transmission is also available, operated by paddle shifts on the steering wheel.

New paint finishes for numerous model series.
New paint finishes for numerous current BMW models allow for additional customisation opportunities. The Skyscraper Grey metallic variant will be available for the BMW 1 Series, the BMW X2 and the BMW X3 from November 2021. Also new to the range are the BMW Individual paint finishes Frozen Pure Grey metallic for the BMW 1 Series and the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé, as well as Aventurine Red metallic for the BMW X3 and the BMW X4.

My BMW App with extended range of functions.
Planning travel routes and transferring them to the car, receiving information about the car’ status and live images from its surroundings, arranging service appointments or receiving news from the brand - the My BMW app makes all this possible on the customer's smartphone. It serves as a universal interface for communication between car and customer, the BMW brand and the BMW dealer. The range of functions of the My BMW App will be expanded again in autumn 2021. In future, for example, the images transmitted by the Remote 3D View service will be stored in a gallery, including information about the location and time of the shots. The status of the vehicle's air conditioning and ventilation is now also clearly displayed in the My BMW app.

In addition, the My BMW app now also provides drivers with comprehensive information on the condition of the vehicle's tyres on their smartphone. This new feature helps to minimise the risk of breakdowns and is available for the BMW 1 Series, BMW 3 Series and BMW 4 Series models, the new BMW 2 Series Coupé, the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé, the BMW Z4 as well as the BMW X5, BMW X6 and BMW X7. The My BMW app displays the wheel-specific values as measured by the tyre pressure system. In addition, the digital tyre diagnosis, which is unique in the competitive environment, can also transmit information about a defect or wear of the tyres via the My BMW app. In the BMW backend, the data from the tyre pressure control system is processed together with the values for temperature and wheel speeds to create a forecast of the remaining life of the tyres. As a supplement to tyre pressure control, indications of tyre damage are also registered.

Intelligent battery heat management for the BMW iX3.
To ensure the fastest and most efficient power feed at DC fast-charging stations, regardless of operating and outside temperatures, the BMW iX3 (combined power consumption: 19.0 - 18.6 L/100 km according to WLTP, 18.5 - 18.9 L/100 km according to NEDC) will be equipped with intelligent thermal management for the high-voltage battery as in the BMW i4 / BMW iX from November 2021. As soon as the active route guidance of the navigation system foresees a stopover at a High Power Charging Station, it already ensures that the battery is automatically preconditioned before arrival.

The appropriate heating or cooling ensures that the high-voltage battery is at the ideal temperature for charging at maximum power on arrival. The thermal management takes into account, among other things, the battery temperature, the remaining range, the predicted charging power and the planned scope of the charging process as part of the overall route calculation.

BMW i3 and BMW i3s in the Unique Forever Edition.
From November 2021, the BMW i3 models (combined electricity consumption: 16.3 - 15.3 L/100 km according to WLTP, 13.1 L/100 km according to NEDC and BMW i3s (combined electricity consumption: 16.6 - 16.3 L/100 km according to WLTP, 14.6 - 14.0 L/100 km according to NEDC) in the Unique Forever Edition. The naming of the new special edition refers to the unique character of the world's first premium automobile designed from the outset for purely electric mobility. The BMW i3 represents a holistic understanding of sustainability not only with its drive system, but also with its particularly lightweight passenger cell made of carbon fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) and extensive use of natural and recycled materials in its interior. Eight years after being launched on the market, it is still a globally recognised symbol of locally emission-free urban mobility.

The edition vehicles are characterised by particularly high-grade and exclusive design and equipment features. The two BMW Individual paint finishes, available for the first time for the BMW i3, ensure a stylish appearance. The Aventurine Red metallic variant is combined with an accent in Frozen Grey metallic and the Storm Bay metallic paint finish with an accent in Frozen E-Copper. The interior surfaces of the BMW grille are also finished in the respective accent colour. Other special features include the omission of the trim strip and model lettering on the luggage compartment lid and a black insert for the rear bumper. In the interior of the edition vehicles, the contents of the Suite equipment world - including the Vernasca Dark Truffle leather combination, the leather instrument panel, the fine wood surface in dark matt oak, the leather steering wheel, the Carum grey roof lining and the ambient lighting - are supplemented by specific design elements. The front headrests are embroidered with the words "Unique Forever", the door trim panels in the area of the exterior mirrors bear the inscription "One of 2,000“.

The Unique Forever Edition models are produced in a limited edition of 2,000 units at the BMW plant in Leipzig. Only electricity generated by the wind turbines on the factory premises is used.

La quatre places compacte sera produite dans l’usine de San Luis Potosí du Groupe BMW au Mexique. Un modèle hautes performances de BMW M GmbH viendra compléter la gamme lors de sa commercialisation début 2022. La nouvelle BMW M240i xDrive Coupé (consommation en cycle mixte : 8,8 - 8,1 l/100 km [32,1 - 34,9 mpg imp] en cycle WLTP ; émissions de CO₂ en cycle mixte : 200 – 185 g/km en cycle WLTP) utilise son moteur six cylindres en ligne de 275 kW/374 ch et sa transmission intégrale intelligente pour procurer une expérience de conduite d’une rare richesse émotionnelle. Les clients ont le choix entre une version essence ou diesel du moteur quatre cylindres, canalisant toutes deux leur puissance sur le bitume par les roues arrière.

Proportions distinctives, formes athlétiques.

Les dimensions extérieures de la nouvelle sportive compacte constituent le point de départ idéal d’une excellente dynamique de conduite. La longueur de 4537 millimètres et la largeur de 1838 millimètres progressent de 105 et 64 millimètres respectivement par rapport au modèle précédent. La nouvelle voiture en revanche est plus basse de 28 millimètres, avec une hauteur de 1 390 millimètres. L’empattement de la nouvelle BMW Série 2 Coupé, qui s’allonge de 51 millimètres à 2 741 millimètres, et ses voies larges, sont d’autres facteurs responsables de l’allure athlétique et puissante de la nouvelle BMW Série 2 Coupé. La largeur de voie de 1 575 millimètres (54 millimètres de plus) pour l’essieu avant et de 1 587 millimètres (31 millimètres de plus) pour l’essieu arrière (BMW M240i xDrive Coupé : +63 millimètres à l’avant, +35 millimètres à l’arrière) garantit une excellente dynamique en virage.

Les proportions musclées du modèle classique à trois volumes formés par le capot, l’habitacle et le coffre exaltent le potentiel dynamique de la nouvelle Série 2 Coupé. Les surfaces musculeuses sculptées et les lignes dynamiques en phase avec le nouveau langage stylistique de la marque expriment le pur plaisir de conduire. Les surfaces tridimensionnelles, les formes triangulaires et les lignes diagonales dessinent l’avant saisissant de la nouvelle BMW Série 2 Coupé. Des passages de roue proéminents et un dôme de puissance musclé au centre du capot affirment sans ambiguïté les caractéristiques de conduite dynamique de la Série 2 Coupé. La calandre BMW présente un design horizontal et des volets d’air disposés à la verticale en son cœur, qui remplacent les barres classiques. Les phares intégralement LED de série sont positionnés aux extrémités extérieures de la face avant et s’inspirent des légendaires modèles BMW 02 par un design circulaire unique. Un capot long, des porte-à-faux courts et un compartiment passager en retrait – dont la partie arrière repose sur des passages de roues évasés – marquent la silhouette latérale de la nouvelle BMW Série 2 Coupé. D’amples surfaces vitrées, une ligne de toit dynamique descendante et une trappe de coffre courte terminée par un becquet prononcé sont d’autres traits distinctifs du modèle sport compact. Les lignes nettes confèrent aux surfaces une bordure athlétique marquée.

Les surfaces à dominante horizontale viennent structurer la poupe puissante. Les feux arrière élégamment foncés – positionnés aux extrémités extérieures de la partie arrière – sont délimités par des contours compacts. Leurs surfaces sont constituées de blocs lumineux à sculpture tridimensionnelle. Les lignes dynamiques structurent les panneaux de porte et les garnitures arrière. L’aménagement de série prévoit des inserts de décoration de la nouvelle version Dark Graphite matt.

La nouveauté stylistique se déploie sous la forme de surfaces trapézoïdales surmontant les accoudoirs des portes. Avec un éclairage d’ambiance en option, leurs surfaces perforées bénéficient d’un rétroéclairage stylé.

La nouvelle BMW Série 2 Coupé est équipée de série d’un garnissage en tissu/Sensatec. La BMW M240i xDrive Coupé et les voitures de la gamme M Sport sont dotées d’un garnissage en Alcantara/Sensatec ainsi que d’autres éléments de design spécifiques tels qu’un volant M en cuir et des protège-genoux rembourrés sur la console centrale. Les options incluent des surfaces en cuir perforé Sensatec et Vernasca. Les sièges sport à réglage électrique (avec fonction mémoire côté conducteur), les sièges M Sport avec appuie-tête intégrés, le chauffage des sièges et le chauffage du volant figurent également dans la liste des options.

Le coffre de la nouvelle BMW Série 2 Coupé offre une capacité de chargement de 390 litres.

La hauteur du seuil de chargement a été abaissée de 35 millimètres par rapport au modèle précédent. Le fractionnement dans un rapport 40 :  20 : 40 du dossier de la banquette arrière rabattable augmente la polyvalence.

Une barre d’attelage amovible est également disponible en option, avec une charge admissible de 1 600 kg.

Ingénierie avancée du châssis avec transfert de technologie de la BMW Série 4.

Des composants de châssis exceptionnellement sophistiqués conçus à l’origine pour les modèles BMW Série 4 et spécialement adaptés pour la nouvelle BMW Série 2 Coupé garantissent une maniabilité suprême. L'essieu avant à amortisseur de carrosserie à double articulation et l'essieu arrière à cinq bras ont été conçus pour réduire le poids tout en augmentant la rigidité. Les amortisseurs montés de série améliorent tout à la fois les aptitudes sportives de la nouvelle voiture et son confort de conduite. Selon la course du ressort, ils offrent un surcroît d’amortissement pour contrôler les mouvements de la caisse sur les grosses bosses et éviter une plongée excessive. Disponible en option, la suspension M Sport se traduit par une réponse plus ferme des amortisseurs et des ressorts en levée et s’accompagne d’une direction sport variable. L’ensemble constitue la base du châssis spécifique au modèle de la nouvelle BMW M240i xDrive Coupé. La version phare de la Série 2 Coupé est par ailleurs équipée de série d’un système de freinage M Sport et d’un différentiel M Sport à l’arrière. La suspension M adaptative avec amortisseurs à commande électronique figure quant à elle dans la gamme des équipements en option.

La nouvelle BMW Série 2 Coupé est équipée de série de jantes en alliage léger de 17 pouces. Les jantes BMW M en alliage léger de 18 pouces avec monte de pneus mixte font partie de la dotation M Sport. La nouvelle BMW M240i xDrive Coupé est équipée de série de jantes BMW M en alliage léger de 19 pouces, également avec monte de pneus mixtes. Des pneus hautes performances sont disponibles en option. La gamme M Performance Parts propose une série de variantes de jantes légères jusqu’à 20 pouces.

Avec le six cylindres en ligne qui couronne sa gamme de moteurs, la nouvelle BMW Série 2 Coupé libère une source d’énergie sans rivale dans sa catégorie. Forte d’une puissance maximale de 135 kW/184 ch et d’un couple maximal de 300 Nm (221 lbft), la nouvelle BMW 220i Coupé accélère de 0 à 100 km/h en 7,5 secondes. Une version 180 kW/245 ch du nouveau moteur essence quatre cylindres équipera la BMW 230i Coupé destinée à rejoindre la gamme à l’été 2022 (modèle non encore commercialisé, consommation et émissions de CO₂ non encore disponibles).

La suralimentation à deux étages et la technologie hybride légère 48 V confèrent au moteur diesel quatre cylindres de la nouvelle BMW 220d Coupé (consommation de carburant en cycle mixte : 5,1 - 4,7 l/100 km [55,4 - 60,1 mpg imp] en cycle WLTP ; émissions de CO₂ en cycle mixte : 132 – 122 g/km en cycle WLTP) un net avantage par rapport à son prédécesseur en termes de punch et d’efficacité.

Le bloc de 2,0 litres développe une puissance maximale de 140 kW/190 ch et un couple maximal de 400 Nm (295 lb-pi). La nouvelle BMW 220d Coupé accélère de 0 à 100 km/h en 6,9 secondes.

Munich. The new BMW 2 Series Coupé is on the final stretch as it heads to the front row of the grid. The final phase of the series development process for the new edition of the BMW 2 Series Coupé has begun with the dynamic testing and tuning of its drive and suspension systems under racetrack conditions. The two-door compact sports car features numerous hallmark ingredients that are unique in the premium compact segment for achieving a sporty and emotional driving experience, which are carefully coordinated during the test drives. This is what underpins this car’s claim to taking pole position in its class. The unique selling points of the new BMW 2 Series Coupé in the competitive environment include the rear-wheel drive setup, an extremely powerful in-line 6-cylinder engine, the almost 50:50 balanced axle load distribution, an extremely torsionally stiff body and chassis technology consistently designed for agile and dynamic driving behaviour.

Sporty driving pleasure in the tradition of the BMW 2002.
The new BMW 2 Series Coupé, which will be manufactured from late summer 2021, is designed for uncompromising sporty driving pleasure. It continues the tradition of the brand's particularly driver-oriented, compact and powerful two-door models, which have been built since the legendary BMW 2002. In terms of power delivery, traction, cornering dynamics and handling precision, the new BMW 2 Series Coupé meets the needs of particularly discerning customers who are enthusiastic about unadulterated sportiness in a compact premium automobile.

During the development of the new BMW 2 Series Coupé, the test and tuning drives on the Nürburgring's Nordschleife serve as the ultimate test for wheel suspension, chassis, damping, steering and braking system. In addition, testing on public country roads around Munich and at the BMW Group test site in Maisach ensure that the dynamic driving qualities of the new BMW 2 Series Coupé can also be experienced in everyday traffic and under different road conditions. By extensively testing all drive and chassis systems, the development and test engineers ensure that the engine's performance characteristics go hand in hand with precisely controllable handling in every situation, fascinating cornering dynamics, optimised traction in all weather and road conditions and perfectly balanced ride comfort. At the same time, the car is fine-tuned to optimise self-steering behaviour and the dynamics when building up lateral acceleration forces. The power transmission to the rear wheels, which is unique in the segment of the new BMW 2 Series Coupé, is ideally suited to sporty, ambitious cornering including easily controllable drift manoeuvres.

BMW M version at the top of the model range.
The new BMW 2 Series Coupé's focus on maximum driving dynamics in the segment is embodied particularly by the BMW M version at the top of the model range. The BMW M240i xDrive Coupé top model (fuel consumption combined: 8.2 l/100 km, combined CO2 emissions: 186 g/km; provisional value according to WLTP) draws its drive torque from an extremely powerful in-line 6-cylinder petrol engine with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology. The drive, which is as spontaneously responsive as it is powerfully thrusty, generates a maximum output of 275 kW/374 hp and is combined with an 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission. The BMW M model puts its power to the road using the intelligent BMW xDrive all-wheel drive system. The system's rear-wheel oriented design ensures hallmark BMW driving pleasure in conjunction with a power distribution that adapts perfectly to adverse road and weather conditions.

The driving dynamics tests also conducted on the Nürburgring, are ideally suited for refining the interaction of the all-wheel-drive system with the M sports differential in the rear-axle transmission. With a fully variable locking effect generated by an electric motor, the differential aids the new BMW 2 Series Coupé in optimising cornering performance with regard to traction and driving stability. The targeted distribution of power between the rear wheels enables significantly higher lateral acceleration and also a noticeable increase in dynamics when accelerating as you come out of bends.

Vehicle concept designed for driving dynamics.
Regardless of the engine, all model variants of the new BMW 2 Series Coupé benefit from a particularly torsion-resistant body structure. Static torsional stiffness has been increased by around 12 per cent compared to the predecessor model, for example through the use of dynamic driving struts in the rear of the vehicle, which contribute to the exceptionally high agility of the new BMW 2 Series Coupé. In addition, the vehicle concept, which is consistently designed for driving dynamics, offers significantly increased track width at the front and rear axles. This effectively reduces body roll and wheel load fluctuations during sporty cornering.

All model variants of the new BMW 2 Series Coupé are also equipped with stroke-dependent dampers as standard, the fine-tuning of which leads to a noticeably optimised balance between sportiness and ride comfort. They respond sensitively to slight road unevenness and compensate vibrations to optimise comfort. When driving over large bumps, the movements of the body are controlled by correspondingly higher damper forces. An Adaptive M Chassis is offered as an option for the new BMW 2 Series Coupé. Its electronically controlled dampers offer the option of activating the appropriate mapping for both sporty and comfort-oriented driving.

Precise steering, optimised aerodynamic properties.
The new BMW 2 Series Coupé is characterised by effortlessly controllable handling even in highly dynamic driving situations. In addition to the powerful and highly controllable brakes, the precise steering also characterises the handling of the two-door model. In addition to the balanced axle load distribution between the front and rear wheels, the model-specific design of the steering and the particularly high connection stiffness of the support bearings on the front axle contribute to this. Available as an option for the new BMW 2 Series Coupé, Variable Sports Steering combines further optimised precision when steering into bends with reduced steering effort when parking and manoeuvring.

The body design of the new BMW 2 Series Coupé not only reflects the brand's modern, clear and reduced design language. Only visible at second glance, but immediately noticeable during the high-speed test drives at the Nürburgring, the measures that help optimise the aerodynamic properties of the BMW M car in particular. In addition to a model-specific front spoiler lip, front splitter and air curtains, air deflectors, a tank and a rear axle cover as well as the contours of the air-flow-optimised driving dynamics struts on the underbody ensure that lift on the front axle has been reduced by 50 percent compared to the predecessor model.

Munich. The market launch of the BMW M5 CS is the absolute highlight among the innovations that will enrich the BMW model range in spring 2021. The first special model based on the BMW M5 Competition takes on the top position in the BMW M GmbH range in terms of engine power, performance and exclusivity, underlining the brand's close ties with racing. Model diversity in the premium segment of the compact and mid-size class will be expanded from March 2021 with additional drive variants for the BMW 4 Series Coupé and the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé. What is more, attractive additions to the standard or optionally available equipment in numerous BMW model series enhance driving pleasure, comfort, individuality and safety.

A feature previously only available for high-performance BMW M GmbH automobiles will also be featured on the most powerful variants of the BMW 3 Series Sedan and BMW 4 Series Coupé from March 2021. For the first time, an M carbon fibre roof will be offered for the top models of both model series. Exclusive lightweight components also optimise the driving experience in the BMW M8. Newly developed M Carbon bucket seats will be available as an optional extra for the three high-performance models in the luxury segment from March 2021. The luxury sedans of the BMW 7 Series will be equipped with Integral Active Steering as standard. In addition, a nanoparticle filter will now be a new component of the standard or optional 4-zone automatic air conditioning in the BMW 7 Series and BMW 8 Series as well as in the BMW X5, BMW X6 and BMW X7 models. BMW Individual Shadow Line lights complement the equipment range for the BMW X5 and BMW X6. The BMW News app will be added to the range of digital services for selected BMW models from April 2021.

High-performance sedan with exclusive racing characteristics: The BMW M5 CS.
Following the BMW M3 CS, the BMW M4 CS and the BMW M2 CS, a special model of the BMW M5 will be launched for the first time in March 2021. The most powerful and exclusive version of the high-performance sedan bears the name BMW M5 CS (combined fuel consumption: 11.3 - 10.9 l/100 km (WLTP), 11.3 - 11. 1 l/100 km (NEDC); combined CO2 emissions: 257 - 248 g/km (WLTP), 258 - 253 g/km (NEDC).

The special model is powered by the most powerful engine ever to be used in a BMW M GmbH production vehicle. The V8 engine with BMW M TwinPower Turbo technology generates a maximum output of 467 kW/635 hp and is thus 7 kW/10 hp more powerful than the drive unit in the BMW M5 Competition. Weighing in with 70 kilograms less weight, the BMW M5 CS completes the sprint from a standstill to 100 km/h in 3.0 seconds, beating the BMW M5 Competition by 0.3 seconds.

The racetrack potential of the BMW M5 CS also goes hand in hand with unrestricted suitability for everyday use. In addition to design elements for the exterior in Gold Bronze, standard equipment also features M Carbon seats for the driver and front passenger. In the rear of the BMW M5 CS, two passengers can be seated on individual seats and enjoy the outstanding driving experience.

New in the BMW 4 Series: Inline 6-cylinder diesel engines and exclusive optional extras.
The sporty character of the new BMW 4 Series Coupé will be underlined by an additional BMW M automobile and a further model variant with a particularly powerful engine from March 2021. In both cases, an inline 6-cylinder diesel engine and intelligent all-wheel drive provide efficient driving pleasure. The new BMW M440d xDrive Coupé (combined fuel consumption: 6.3 – 5.7 l/100 km (WLTP), 5.7 - 5.3 l/100 km (NEDC); combined CO2 emissions: 164 - 150 g/km (WLTP), 149 - 140 g/km (NEDC), with its 250 kW/340 hp drive featuring BMW M TwinPower Turbo technology is also combined with an 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission, an M sports package and an M sports differential. Thanks to the outstanding performance of the 3.0-litre engine and its maximum torque of 700 Nm, the new BMW M440d xDrive Coupé accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds.

With a maximum output of 210 kW/286 hp generated from a 3.0 litres of capacity and a maximum torque of 650 Nm, the powerplant of the new BMW 430d xDrive Coupé (combined fuel consumption: 5.9 – 5.2 l/100 km (WLTP), 5.1 - 4.8 l/100 km (NEDC); combined CO2 emissions: 155 - 137 g/km (WLTP), 134 - 126 g/km (NEDC) also enables dynamic acceleration manoeuvres. It takes just 5.1 seconds to accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h.

In both inline 6-cylinder diesel models, mild hybrid technology with a 48-volt starter generator provides a further increase in dynamics and efficiency. The system enables particularly intensive energy recovery in braking and thrust phases. The energy is stored in a 48-volt battery and used both for the onboard network and to generate additional drive power. The dynamic power delivery when starting off and accelerating is enhanced by the additional power of 8 kW/11 hp spontaneously provided by the 48-volt starter generator. In other load ranges the electric drive can relieve the combustion engine and thus increase its efficiency.

For both the new BMW 4 Series Coupé and the new BMW 4 Series Convertible, the BMW Individual Brilliant White metallic, BMW Individual Frozen Portimao Blue metallic and BMW Individual Frozen Deep Grey metallic exterior paint finishes will also be available from March 2021. The extended BMW Individual Merino leather upholstery or the BMW Individual Merino full leather upholstery will be available in six or four colour variants respectively to ensure exclusive flair in the interior.

Dynamic charisma increased, centre of gravity lowered: M Carbon roof in the BMW 3 Series and BMW 4 Series.
The new BMW M440d xDrive Coupé, just like the BMW M440i xDrive Coupé and the two corresponding top models of the BMW 3 Series Sedan, will add further touches of sporty flair by means of an exclusive lightweight construction feature. The M Carbon roof, available for these four models from March 2021, emphasises dynamic charisma and at the same time lowers the vehicle's centre of gravity further to make it even more agile.

In future, the new interior trims will be available in the M Carbon Fibre version to match. They will also be available for the BMW M440i xDrive Convertible and for all other model variants of the new BMW 3 Series and BMW 4 Series, in each case in conjunction with the M Sport Model equipment.

Additional all-wheel drive model variant for the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé.
The added traction, driving stability and sportiness associated with intelligent all-wheel drive can be experienced in a further model variant of the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé from March 2021. The new BMW 220i xDrive Gran Coupé (combined fuel consumption: 7.3 - 6.5 l/100 km (WLTP), 6.4 - 6.1 l/100 km (NEDC); combined CO2 emissions: 165 - 149 g/km (WLTP, 147 - 139 g/km (NEDC), generates 131 kW/178 hp from a 4-cylinder petrol engine, the power being distributed between the front and rear wheels as required. The 7-speed Steptronic transmission with double clutch is in charge of power transmission. With this drive technology, the new BMW 220i xDrive Gran Coupé accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 7.1 seconds.

The range of optional extras for the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé will be supplemented by additional light-alloy wheels in spring 2021. 18-inch M light-alloy wheels in Y-spoke design and bicolour finish are new to the range.

BMW 7 Series now features Integral Active Steering as standard.
The superior ride comfort, cornering dynamics and agility of the BMW 7 Series luxury sedans will be enhanced from March 2021 with the help of Integral Active Steering as standard. This system optimises both agility and superior handling at higher speeds as well as comfort when manoeuvring through precisely controlled steering of the rear wheels. The latest version of the Integral Active Steering system triggers counter-steering of the rear wheels even at a particularly low speed of less than 3 km/h. This further enhances the manoeuvrability of the luxury sedans when parking and backing out, as well as when passing slowly through narrow spaces.

Nanoparticle filter as a new component of the 4-zone automatic air conditioning.
In many current BMW models, a nanoparticle filter will be part of the range of functions of the 4-zone automatic air conditioning. The system, which is unique in the competitive environment, is able to remove tiny impurities from the air flowing into the interior. The 4-zone automatic air conditioning with nanoparticle filter is part of the standard equipment in the BMW X7 and is offered as an option for the BMW 7 Series luxury sedans, the BMW 8 Series luxury sports cars and the BMW X5 and BMW X6 models.

BMW Individual Shadow Line lights for the BMW X5 and BMW X6.
The range of optional equipment for the BMW X5 and BMW X6 models is supplemented by the BMW Individual Shadow Line lights. They are available in conjunction with the optional BMW laser light and feature black inlays on the upper edge of the headlights ensuring a particularly expressive front view.

Pure race-track feeling: M Carbon bucket seats in the BMW M8.
A particularly attractive addition to the range of optional extras for the BMW M8 models allows customers to experience the fascinating performance characteristics of the high-performance sports cars even more intensively. M Carbon bucket seats will be available for the BMW M8 Competition Coupé, the BMW M8 Competition Convertible and the BMW M8 Competition Gran Coupé from March 2021. With their novel, structure-based design, visible carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) surfaces, integrated headrests, openings in the backrests and side sections as well as guides for multi-point seat belts, they combine racing functionality with long-distance comfort and luxurious quality of workmanship.

The M Carbon bucket seats for the driver and front passenger are electrically adjustable for height, tilt and forward/back positioning. In addition, the inclination and width of their backrests can be adjusted at the touch of a button. They feature leather and alcantara seat surfaces and are also heated. Illuminated "M8" lettering on the headrests and a memory function on the driver's side are also part of the equipment package of the M Carbon bucket seats. Their lightweight construction concept leads to a significant weight reduction compared to the standard M sports seats.

Exclusive special equipment for other BMW M automobiles.
The range of optional extras available for numerous other BMW M automobiles will also be expanded in spring 2021. For the BMW M3 Sedan and the BMW M4 Coupé, the new Skyscraper Grey metallic exterior paint finish and the extended BMW Merino leather upholstery are available in a choice of five additional colour variants.

The BMW X5 M Competition and BMW X6 M Competition models can also be equipped with BMW Individual Shadow Line lights in conjunction with the optional BMW laser light from April 2021. In addition, the optional 4-zone automatic air conditioning will also include a nanoparticle filter in the BMW M8 models.

New addition to the range of digital services: BMW News app.
The BMW Operating System 7, which is available in conjunction with BMW Live Cockpit, BMW Live Cockpit Plus or BMW Live Cockpit Professional in numerous current BMW models, enables the use of a growing number of digital services. The latest innovations in this area include the BMW News app, which will be available from April 2021 as part of BMW Connected and provides the driver with selected audio content. Munich. Increased efficiency through consistent electrification, optimised emissions and innovations in the areas of driver assistance and digital services are the focus of the model revision measures for numerous BMW model series that will take effect in autumn 2020. From November 2020, all models of the premium brand will meet the requirements of the currently strictest exhaust emission standard Euro 6d. In the BMW 5 Series, the range of plug-in hybrid models has been extended by three new variants. New inline 6-cylinder diesel engines and 48-volt mild hybrid technology lower fuel consumption and emissions of selected models in the BMW 3 Series and BMW 8 Series. In addition, further engines will supplement the drive portfolio of the BMW 1 Series and the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé.

Efficiency becomes more diverse: World premiere for five plug-in hybrid models in the BMW 5 Series.
The range of BMW models with electrified drive systems will also be consistently expanded in autumn 2020. The expanded range of the following electrified models is especially attractive: BMW 545e xDrive Sedan (fuel consumption combined: 2.3 – 2.2 l/100 km; combined power consumption: 16.3 – 15.8 kWh/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 53 – 49 g/km; electric range: 47 – 57 km), BMW 530e Touring (combined fuel consumption: 2.0 – 1.8 l/100 km; combined power consumption: 16.1 – 15.4 kWh/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 46 – 42 g/km; electric range: 52 – 57 km (WLTP)) and BMW 530e xDrive Touring (combined fuel consumption: 2.4 – 2.2 l/100 km; combined power consumption: 16.7 – 16.1 kWh/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 54 – 50 g/km; electric range: 48 – 53 km (WLTP)). The BMW 5 Series model range now already includes five plug-in hybrid variants. In the upper mid-size class, BMW offers the largest selection of models with electrified drive.

In the new BMW 545e xDrive Sedan, an inline 6-cylinder petrol engine and an electric drive integrated into the 8-speed Steptronic transmission deliver impressive driving dynamics in a particularly efficient manner. The power of the two drive units adds up to a maximum system output of 290 kW/394 hp and is distributed between the front and rear wheels as required by the intelligent BMW xDrive all-wheel drive. The brand’s hallmark combination of energy efficiency and sportiness also characterises the new Touring models, whose plug-in hybrid system consists of a 4-cylinder petrol engine and an electric drive system also integrated into the 8-speed Steptronic transmission. Together they generate a system output of up to 215 kW/292 hp in the XtraBoost mode when load requirements are particularly high.

Increased dynamic performance and reduced fuel consumption: New inline 6-cylinder diesel engines with 48-volt mild hybrid technology in the BMW 3 Series and BMW 8 Series.
With the introduction of 48-volt mild hybrid technology in additional models, BMW continues to consistently reduce fuel consumption and emissions in its current vehicle fleet. This is linked to the introduction of a new generation of inline 6-cylinder diesel engines. As of autumn 2020, four mid-size models of the BMW 3 Series and three luxury sports cars of the BMW 8 Series will offer noticeably more dynamic performance and increased efficiency.

This twofold and BMW typical progress is achieved through further advanced BMW TwinPower Turbo technology and additionally with the aid of a particularly powerful starter generator and an additional battery. The dynamic power delivery when starting off and accelerating is enhanced by the additional power of 8 kW/11 hp spontaneously provided by the 48-volt starter generator. In other load ranges the electric drive can relieve the combustion engine and thus increase its efficiency. The power required for this is generated by intensive recuperation in braking and thrust phases and stored in a 48-volt battery, which also supplies the vehicle’s electrical system.

The 48-volt mild hybrid technology will be used in four further BMW 3 Series models from November 2020. In the new BMW 330d Sedan (combined fuel consumption: 4.7 – 4.4 l/100 km*; combined CO₂ emissions: 125 – 116 g/km*) and the new BMW 330d Xdrive Sedan (combined fuel consumption: 5.0 – 4.7 l/100 km*; combined CO₂ emissions: 132 – 123 g/km*) and the new BMW 330d Touring (combined fuel consumption: 4.8 – 4.5 l/100 km*; combined CO₂ emissions: 128 – 119 g/km*) and the new BMW 330d Xdrive Touring (combined fuel consumption: 5.2 – 4.8 l/100 km*; combined CO₂ emissions: 136 – 127 g/km), it supports the new inline 6-cylinder diesel engine, which already provides additional driving pleasure with its maximum output increased by 15 kW/21 hp to 210 kW/286 hp. Thanks to a two-stage turbocharging system and an advanced common rail injection system whose piezo injectors now inject the fuel with up to ten injections per working cycle and a maximum pressure of 2 700 bar into the combustion chambers, engine response and efficiency of the 3.0 litre engine are optimised. The new diesel engine generates its maximum torque, which has been increased by 30 to 650 Nm, between 1 500 and 2 500 rpm. The increased power of the combustion engine and the additional electrical power noticeably improve the car’s sprint capacity. For example, the new BMW 330d Sedan improves its acceleration from zero to 100 km/h by 0.2 seconds to now 5.3 seconds.

In the BMW 8 Series, 48-volt mild hybrid technology is combined with an equally new and even more powerful 3.0-litre diesel engine. The BMW 840d xDrive Coupé models (fuel consumption combined: 5.8 – 5.6 l/100 km*; combined CO₂ emissions: 154 - 146 g/km), BMW 840d xDrive Convertible (fuel consumption combined: 6.0 – 5.7 l/100 km*; combined CO₂ emissions: 159 – 151 g/km) and BMW 840d xDrive Gran Coupé (combined fuel consumption: 5.9 – 5.6 l/100 km*; combined CO₂ emissions: 155 - 148 g/km) will be powered by a 250 kW/340 hp inline 6-cylinder engine in the future. The 15 kW/20 hp increase in top-level output also results from further advanced BMW TwinPower Turbo technology. It now includes a multi-stage turbocharger with variable turbine geometry for the high-pressure and low-pressure stages. The maximum torque of 700 Nm is generated alreadybetween 1 750 and 2 250 rpm. In the luxury sports car model range, the new drive technology enables the BMW 840d xDrive Coupé, for example, to improve its acceleration figure from a standing start to 100 km/h by 0.1 seconds to 4.8 seconds. The optimised performance characteristics of the diesel engine are accompanied by precisely adapted fine tuning of the chassis and its control systems.

The new diesel engines for the BMW 3 Series and the BMW 8 Series also represent the latest state of the art with regard to emissions. They feature exhaust gas treatment technology, whose engine-proximate components consist of a diesel oxidation catalytic converter and an SCR coating on the diesel particulate filter. In order to optimally reduce nitrogen oxide (NOX) emissions, a second metering unit is additionally integrated at the outlet of the engine-proximate SCR system.

BMW 1 Series, BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé: Additional engines and new optional extras.
New engines will be available from November 2020 for the BMW 1 Series and the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé. The new BMW 116i (combined fuel consumption: 5.8 – 5.4 l/100 km*; combined CO₂ emissions: 133 – 124 g/km) is powered by a 3-cylinder petrol engine with an output of 80 kW/109 hp and a maximum torque of 190 Nm. It is equipped as standard with a manual 6-speed transmission and accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 10.6 seconds. A 7-speed Steptronic transmission with double clutch is optionally available. In addition, the model range will be expanded to include the new BMW 120i (fuel consumption combined: 5.8 – 5.5 l/100 km*; combined CO₂ emissions: 134 – 126 g/km). Its 4-cylinder petrol engine generates a maximum output of 131 kW/178 hp and a maximum torque of 280 Nm and is combined as standard with a 7-speed Steptronic transmission with double clutch. The new BMW 120i accelerates from a standing start to 100 km/h in 7.0 seconds.

Outstanding economy is the hallmark of the new entry-level diesel engine for the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé. The 3-cylinder diesel engine of the new BMW 216d Gran Coupé (fuel consumption combined: 4.1 – 3.8 l/100 km*; combined CO₂ emissions: 108 – 99 g/km) provides a maximum output of 85 kW/116 hp and a maximum torque of 270 Nm. It transmits its power to a 7-speed Steptronic transmission with double clutch as standard and enables acceleration from zero to 100 km/h in 10.3 seconds.

The range of optional equipment for the BMW 1 Series and the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé is supplemented by the BMW Individual Shadow Line lights. With the black inserts at the upper edge of the headlamps they make the front view even more powerfully expressive.

Urban Cruise Control: Increased comfort and optimised safety when driving in urban traffic.
The increased level of comfort and safety achieved through combined speed and distance control will also be available in numerous current BMW models when driving in city traffic from autumn 2020 onwards. In conjunction with the optional Driving Assistant Professional, the Urban Cruise Control function is available in the BMW 3 Series and BMW 5 Series, the BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo, the BMW 8 Series and the BMW X5, BMW X6, BMW X7, BMW M5, BMW M8, BMW X5 M and BMW X6 M model series. It extends the range of functions of the Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go function by a traffic light recognition function. In addition to vehicles and traffic signs ahead, traffic lights registered by the stereo camera are also taken into account.

In the case of traffic light signals that are clearly related to the lane you are travelling, these are automatically registered by the speed and distance control system. If the traffic light is red, the system decelerates the vehicle to a standstill. A green light signals the continuation of the journey. In a more complex intersection situation where, for example, different light signals apply to different lanes, a traffic light symbol is displayed in the instrument cluster. The driver can then confirm the light signal shown there and continue to use the automatic speed and distance control or control the speed himself. For additional comfort in city traffic there is a drive reminder function. While stationary at a traffic light, the current traffic light phase is displayed in the instrument cluster; at the beginning of the green phase, the driver also receives a signal to start driving.

The Urban Cruise Control function can also be integrated into the car at a later date by means of a Remote Software Upgrade. With the exception of the BMW 8 Series models, this option is available for vehicles of all the above-mentioned series produced from July 2020 onwards and which are equipped with the Driving Assistant Professional.

New digital services for more driving pleasure: BMW News, BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant with new functions, personal profile picture and simple log-in.
The latest generation of the display and control system makes it possible to use new digital services in numerous current BMW models. The BMW Operating System 7, which is available in conjunction with BMW Live Cockpit, BMW Live Cockpit Plus or BMW Live Cockpit Professional, allows the driver to customise what is displayed to a very high degree. From November 2020, audio content will also be tailored to the driver’s wishes and needs with BMW News. Based on the driver’s individual interests, current online news is selected from publisher offerings and broadcast in the form of naturally spoken language via the vehicle's audio system.

The BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant is one of the particularly innovative services that features in current models with BMW Operating System 7. The digital companion, which enables intuitive operation of numerous vehicle functions via voice control (“Hey, BMW”), is constantly gaining new capabilities. From autumn 2020, the operating modes MAX eDrive and AUTO eDrive or ELECTRIC and HYBRID can also be activated in the appropriately equipped plug-in hybrid models by means of a naturally spoken instruction.

Optimised options for creating a driver profile allow further customisation opportunities. From November 2020, the driver can no longer only login by entering the BMW ID manually, but also via the My BMW App as well, making the process very convenient. A QR code generated for this purpose can be displayed on the Control Display, which can be scanned using a smartphone. The personal driver profile data can then be transferred to the vehicle. Also new: The driver can add a photo of his choice to his individual profile.

BMW X1 and BMW X2: New headlamp variants and BMW Individual High Gloss Shadow Line with extended features.
Adaptive LED headlights will be available for the compact BMW X2 Sports Activity Coupé from November 2020. They optimise visibility when driving at night, among other things by means of a high beam matrix function. This feature is able to increase the range of vision while at the same time avoiding any dazzle effect on other road users. To achieve this, the high beam is divided into several LED segments that can be activated and deactivated independently of each other to adapt how the road is illuminated to the respective traffic situation.

In addition, the striking BMW Individual Shadow Line lights are available as a new option for the BMW X2 and the BMW X1. The sporty appearance of the BMW X2 can be further enhanced by the BMW Individual High Gloss Shadow Line with extended features. In addition to the high-gloss black side window surrounds, this option includes a black frame for the BMW kidney grille and tailpipe trims in chrome black.

New paint finishes allow for expressive individualisation.
New additions to the range of paint finishes for numerous models will be introduced in autumn 2020 allowing for even greater levels of individualisation. The new San Remo Green metallic paint finish will also be available for the new BMW 4 Series Coupé in future. For the BMW X5, BMW X6 and BMW X7, the colours Dravit Grey metallic and Sparkling Brown metallic have been added to the range. In addition, the BMW Individual special paintwork finishes Grigio Telesto metallic, Urban Green metallic, Frozen Black metallic, Petrol Mica metallic, Ruby Red metallic, Avus Blue metallic and British Racing Green metallic are also available for the large BMW X models. 

For the BMW i3 (combined fuel consumption: 0.0 l/100 km; combined power consumption: 13.1 kWh/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 0 g/km) and BMW i3s (combined fuel consumption: 0.0 l/100 km; combined power consumption: 14.6 – 14.0 kWh/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 0 g/km) new paint finishes will also be available from November 2020. The purely electrically driven models will be available with paint finishes in Cashmere Silver with accents in BMW i Blue and Galvanic Gold with accents in Frozen Grey metallic and Fluid Black with accents in Frozen Grey metallic.

With the introduction of 48-volt mild hybrid technology in additional model series from summer 2020, BMW continues to consistently reduce fuel consumption and emissions in its current vehicle fleet. From July and August 2020, both efficiency and dynamic performance will be optimised in 51 models with the use of a particularly powerful starter generator and an additional battery. This also applies to the new in-line 6-cylinder diesel engines in the BMW 7 Series and in the BMW X3, BMW X4, BMW X5, BMW X6 and BMW X7. Two additional engine variants are available for the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé from July 2020 onwards. In numerous plug-in hybrid models, the new BMW eDrive Zone function will ensure an automatic switch to purely electric operating mode when entering inner city areas such as low emission zones.

The extension of the range of standard and optional equipment features in the areas of driver assistance systems, operation and networking contributes to an increase in driving pleasure. A new display and control system will be part of the standard trim in the new BMW 3 Series from July 2020. Among other things, BMW Operating System 7 enables use of the optional BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant. Furthermore, in the BMW 3 Series and other model series the range of functions of the optional Driving Assistant Professional is supplemented by Active Navigation Guidance and the Emergency Lane Assistant.

Increased dynamic performance and reduced fuel consumption: 48-volt mild hybrid technology now in 51 BMW models.
From summer 2020 onwards, mild hybrid technology will be used in numerous additional BMW models to provide support and relief for the combustion engine. It consists of a 48-volt starter generator that enables particularly intensive braking energy recuperation along with an additional battery to store the electricity that is generated in this way. The 48-volt battery not only supplies the electrically operated vehicle functions, it also makes its energy available to generate additional drive power. For this purpose the current flows back to the starter generator, which now takes on the role of an electric drive. This reduces the load on the combustion engine, allowing it to run as often as possible in an efficiency-optimised load range. What is more, the generator creates an electric boost during acceleration. This instantly available additional output of 8 kW/11 hp supports dynamic power delivery during start and acceleration.

The 48-volt mild hybrid technology was first introduced in selected model variants of the BMW 5 Series in autumn 2019. This was followed by the BMW 3 Series models and several BMW X models. From July and August 2020, it will be available as standard in 37 further model variants of the BMW 3 Series, BMW 5 Series, BMW 6 Series and BMW 7 Series as well as the BMW X3, BMW X4, BMW X5, BMW X6 and BMW X7. All in all it will ensure efficiency and dynamic performance in 51 current BMW models.

More power, less emissions: the new in-line 6-cylinder diesel engines with optimised BMW TwinPower Turbo Technology.
A new generation of in-line 6-cylinder engines will make its debut in numerous BMW model series in summer 2020. These highly efficient aluminium power units, each with a capacity of 3.0 litres, combine their extensively further developed BMW TwinPower Turbo Technology with the new 48-volt mild hybrid system, thereby achieving particularly significant progress within the context of BMW EfficientDynamics. In addition to optimised turbocharging systems, the latest version of common rail direct injection with piezo injectors ensures that both performance and efficiency are significantly increased in the new diesel engines. The injectors now transport fuel to the combustion chambers in up to ten injections per cycle and at a maximum pressure of 2,700 bar.

With maximum output increased by 15 kW/21 hp to 210 kW/286 hp, the new diesel engine for the models BMW 730d (combined fuel consumption: 4.9 – 4.7 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 128 – 123 g/km) and BMW 730d xDrive (combined fuel consumption: 5.2 – 5.0 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 138 – 133 g/km), BMW 730Ld (combined fuel consumption: 5.0 – 4.8 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 130 – 126 g/km), BMW 730Ld xDrive (combined fuel consumption: 5.3 – 5.1 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 139 – 133 g/km), BMW X3 xDrive30d (combined fuel consumption: 5.6 – 5.2 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 147 – 137 g/km), BMW X4 xDrive30d (combined fuel consumption: 5.6 – 5.1 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 146 – 136 g/km), BMW X5 xDrive30d (combined fuel consumption: 6.2 – 5.7 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 164 – 150 g/km) und BMW X6 xDrive30d (combined fuel consumption: 6.2 – 5.7 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 162 – 149 g/km) demonstrates a perceptibly enhanced temperament. Its particularly spontaneous power delivery is due to the multi-stage turbocharging used for the first time in this version of the in-line 6-cylinder diesel engine, along with variable turbine geometry for the low-pressure stage of the system. Increased by 30 to 650 Nm, the maximum torque of the new drive unit goes on stream at between 1,500 and 2,500 rpm – a power boost that especially results in enhanced sprint capacity. For example, the BMW 730d and the BMW 730d xDrive have improved their acceleration from zero to 100 km/h by 0.2 seconds each to 5.9 and 5.6 seconds respectively.

The new diesel engine now also used in the BMW 740d xDrive models BMW 740d xDrive (combined fuel consumption: 5.4 – 5.2 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 142 – 136 g/km), BMW 740Ld xDrive (combined fuel consumption: 5.4 – 5.2 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 143 – 137 g/km), BMW X3 M40d (combined fuel consumption: 6.0 – 5.6 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 157 – 148 g/km), BMW X4 M40d (combined fuel consumption: 5.9 – 5.6 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 156 – 147 g/km) und BMW X7 xDrive40d (combined fuel consumption: 6.6 – 6.4 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 173 – 167 g/km) generates even greater pulling power. Its multi-stage turbocharging system comprises a high-pressure and a low-pressure turbocharger with variable turbine geometry. As a result, a maximum torque of 700 Nm is delivered between 1,750 and 2,250 rpm. The engine reaches its peak output of 250 kW/340 hp at 4 400 rpm. In the BMW 740d xDrive, for example, this increased power helps achieve a sprint from standstill to 100 km/h that is also improved by 0.2 seconds to 5.0 seconds.

The two new engines are feature exhaust gas treatment technology with engine-related components consisting of a diesel oxidation catalytic converter and an SCR coating on the diesel particulate filter. For optimum reduction of nitrogen oxide (NO_X) emissions, a second dosage unit is additionally integrated at the outlet of the engine-related SCR system. As a result, the models powered by the new in-line 6-cylinder diesel engines meet the Euro 6d emissions standard.

Expansion of the model range for the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé.
The BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé model range will be extended from July 2020 with the addition of two new engine variants. A new entry-level diesel engine and an additional all-wheel drive model variant are available for the sporty, elegant four-door model in the premium compact segment. The new BMW 218d Gran Coupé (combined fuel consumption: 4.5 – 4.2 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 118 – 109 g/km) is powered by the latest version of a 4-cylinder diesel engine. The BMW TwinPower Turbo Technology in the 2.0-litre power unit now includes a two-stage turbocharging system as well as a likewise further developed common rail direct injection featuring solenoid valve injectors. The new engine delivers its maximum torque of 350 Nm between 1,750 and 2,500 rpm, reaching a maximum output of 110 kW/150 hp at 4,000 rpm. The new BMW 218d Gran Coupé accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 8.6 seconds with the standard 6-speed manual transmission and in 8.5 seconds with the optional 8-speed Steptronic transmission.

The second diesel engine available for the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé delivers a maximum output of 140 kW/190 hp and a maximum torque of 400 Nm. In the new BMW 220d xDrive Gran Coupé (combined fuel consumption: 4.9 – 4.5 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 129 – 119 g/km) it is now combined with intelligent all-wheel drive and an 8-speed Steptronic transmission. This enables the new model variant to accelerate from standstill to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds. Thanks to state-of-the-art exhaust gas treatment including SCR catalytic converter with AdBlue injection, both new models meet the Euro 6d emissions standard.

Green light for BMW eDrive Zone: locally emissions-free travel in the city on an automated basis.
Innovative technology from the fields of electrification and digitalisation is combined in the new BMW eDrive Zone function available in the premium car manufacturer’s plug-in hybrid models. This globally unique digital service offers additional options for making optimum use of the capabilities of emissions-free driving. The BMW eDrive Zone function triggers an automatic switch to purely electric operating mode as soon as the vehicle enters selected urban areas such as low-emission zones.

BMW eDrive Zone will be a standard feature of all plug-in hybrid models of the BMW 3 Series, BMW 5 Series and BMW 7 Series as well as the BMW X5. The digital service uses geo-fencing technology via GPS to identify designated areas. eDrive zones of this kind are currently designated in some 80 cities throughout Europe. When the service is activated, each available eDrive Zone on the navigation map is graphically highlighted in the Control Display: a message appears to inform the driver that the vehicle will automatically switch to electric driving mode as soon as it enters an eDrive Zone.

From summer 2020, the above-mentioned plug-in hybrid models will also be fitted with an integrated drive-ready sound for electric power as standard. This means that both starting and stopping the electric drive will be accompanied by a distinctive acoustic signal. In addition there has been an expansion of the range of preconditioning functions, which is also a standard feature. Depending on the equipment fitted, more functions will be available that can be activated remotely by smartphone, in addition to interior cooling and heating. In future it will also be possible to activate the seat climate control before the start of a journey, for example. In the same way it will be possible to include the seat, steering wheel, exterior mirror and rear window heating systems in the preconditioning for heating the interior, as well as heating of the cameras for the driver assistance systems.

BMW 3 Series Sedan and BMW 3 Series Touring now fitted with BMW Operating System 7 as standard.
In the new BMW 3 Series, the latest generation of the display and control system will be a standard feature as of summer 2020. Previously only used in conjunction with BMW Live Cockpit Professional, BMW Operating System 7 offers extensive individualisation and personalisation of the content shown on the Control Display. The standard BMW Live Cockpit now also includes a redesigned instrument cluster with a 5.1-inch digital display at its centre. BMW Live Cockpit Plus, like BMW Live Cockpit Professional, also includes the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant. This digital companion enables intuitive operation of numerous vehicle functions via voice control (“Hey, BMW”). In the BMW 1 Series and BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé, BMW Operating System 7 will also be part of the optional BMW Live Cockpit Plus from July 2020.

The M sports seats are new to the range of optional extras for the new BMW 3 Series Sedan and the new BMW 3 Series Touring. They feature excellent lateral support, a wide range of adjustment options and headrests with embossed M logo. The M sports seats for driver and front passenger are available in conjunction with the Model M Sport equipment line as well as for the BMW M automobiles of the new BMW 3 Series. The choice of exterior colours for the new BMW 3 Series is supplemented by the variant Phytonic Blue metallic.

Increased comfort and safety: Driving Assistant Professional with additional functions.
The optional Driving Assistant Professional is a particularly comprehensive collection of driver assistance systems designed to optimise comfort and safety: it is being used by BMW to pave the way to automated driving in numerous current models. The focus is on the steering and lane guidance assistant, which will be enhanced with additional functions from summer 2020 in the BMW 3 Series, BMW 5 Series, BMW 6 Series and BMW 8 Series, in the BMW X5, BMW X6 and BMW X7, and in all variants of the BMW M5 and BMW M8.

The new Active Navigation Guidance indicates lane changes that are necessary in order to continue driving along the selected route when destination guidance is active. The driver can then carry out this operation conveniently with the aid of the lane change assistant. In addition, Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go function will in future include an adaptive distance control that adapts to the respective traffic situation and environmental conditions.

Further progress is also being made in the intelligent control of the Speed Limit Info system with No Passing Indicator. In all model variants of the BMW 1 Series, BMW 3 Series, BMW 5 Series, BMW 6 Series, BMW 7 Series and BMW 8 Series, the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé, the BMW Z4, the BMW X5, the BMW X6 and the BMW X7 as well as the BMW M5, the BMW M8, the BMW X5 M and the BMW X6 M, road sign detection will in future additionally take into account speed limits that are restricted in time and only apply on certain days of the week. On days other, the speed limit derived from the navigation data is displayed.

BMW 7 Series and BMW 8 Series with optimised Integral Active Steering.
Sporty flair and ride comfort in the BMW 7 Series luxury sedans and the luxury sports cars of the BMW 8 Series benefit from Integral Active Steering. The optional suspension system combines a variable rack and pinion ratio on the front axle with selective co-steering of the rear wheels. Even at particularly low speeds of less than 3 km/h, the rear wheels are now countersteered. This gives the models of the BMW 7 Series and BMW 8 Series additional manoeuvrability when moving slowly in and out of parking spaces or passing through narrow gaps.

In addition, the BMW 7 Series will be available from July 2020 in the new exterior paint finish Phytonic Blue metallic and the BMW Individual paint finish Frozen Bluestone metallic. A fresh touch of luxury ambience is added to the interior with the BMW Individual leather steering wheel as well as the new version of the BMW Individual Merino full leather trim in the colour combination Smoke White/Night Blue/Black.

New body finishes for the BMW i3 and numerous other models
Another new addition to the range is the body finish in Cashmere Silver metallic, which is also available for the BMW X1. The BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer will also offered in Phytonic Blue metallic and Misano Blue metallic in future.

New body finishes are available for numerous other models, too. Phytonic Blue metallic and Sunset Orange metallic versions of the BMW 1 Series and the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé will be on offer from July 2020. The body finish Phytonic Blue metallic will also be available for the BMW X5, BMW X6 and BMW X7 as of August 2020. What is more, the BMW X5 and BMW X6 can be fitted with the new Carbon Fibre interior trim finishers and M Carbon exterior mirror caps in conjunction with the M sports package.

The purely electrically powered models BMW i3 (combined fuel consumption: 0.0 l/100 km; combined power consumption: 13.1 kWh/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 0 g/km) and BMW i3s (combined fuel consumption: 0.0 l/100 km; combined power consumption: 14.6 – 14.0 kWh/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 0 g/km) will be available from summer 2020 in the new body finish Blue Ridge Mountain with accentuations in Frozen Grey metallic.

Meanwhile new BMW Individual body finishes are available for the model variants of the high-performance sports car BMW M8. For the BMW M8 Series Coupé (combined fuel consumption: 10.6 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 242 g/km*) and the BMW M8 Convertible (combined fuel consumption: 10.8 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 246 g/km), the Ametrin metallic variant is now newly available. For both models and for the BMW M8 Gran Coupé (combined fuel consumption: 10.7 l/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 244 g/km), the versions Bluestone metallic, Frozen Brands Hatch Grey metallic and Frozen Motegi Red metallic are likewise available.

CO2 EMISSIONS & CONSUMPTION.

Munich. From the spring of 2020, BMW will contribute towards a further reduction of consumption levels and the optimisation of the emission performance of current models through the use of systematically evolved drive technology. In parallel with the expansion of the range of models featuring all-electric and plug-in hybrid drive scheduled to follow during the course of the year, both the efficiency and the exhaust emission quality of petrol-driven vehicles will be significantly increased.  This is ensured, inter alia, by innovative mild hybrid technology which, following the BMW 5 Series, will as from March/April also be deployed in the BMW 3 Series as well as the model series BMW X3 and BMW X4. At the same time, in the spring of 2020, 33 further BMW models will already comply with the Euro 6d emission standard, which will not become obligatory until 2021. 

A further drive variant for the BMW 1 Series as well as additional engines for the BMW 3 Series Sedan and the BMW 3 Series Touring will enhance the diversity of available options in the premium compact and premium midrange segment. Additional options for interior design provide for greater individuality in the BMW X5, the BMW X6 and the BMW X7.

Electric pulling power for efficiency and dynamics: Mild hybrid technology with 48-volt starter generator for further models.  

BMW is extending the use of mild hybrid technology to further models. This innovation, first introduced in the autumn of 2019 forthe four model variants of the BMW 520d (combined fuel consumption: 4.9 – 4.1 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 128 – 108 g/km), comprises an extremely powerful 48-volt starter generator as well as an additional battery, and enhances both efficiency and dynamics of vehicles equipped with this technology. As from the spring of 2020, mild hybrid technology will also be featured as standard in the models BMW 320d Sedan (automatic transmission) (combined fuel consumption: 4.1 – 4.0 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 107 – 105 g/km), the BMW 320d Touring (combined fuel consumption: 4.3 – 4.2 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 112 – 109 g/km), the BMW 320d xDrive Sedan (combined fuel consumption: 4.4 – 4.3 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 117 – 114 g/km), the BMW 320d xDrive Touring (combined fuel consumption: 4.5 – 4.5 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 119 – 117 g/km), the BMW X3 xDrive20d (combined fuel consumption: 5.1 – 4.8 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 134 – 126 g/km) and the BMW X4 xDrive20d (combined fuel consumption: 5.1 – 4.8 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 133 – 125 g/km).

Mild hybrid technology provides significantly greater possibilities to make use of brake energy recuperation. The energy recuperated when accelerating and braking is not only used to provide electrically powered vehicle functions with energy but also to generate additional drive power. The 48-volt starter generator delivers an additional power output of up to 8 kW/11 hp. The electric over-boost is made available very spontaneously, thus enhancing dynamics when starting off and accelerating from a standstill.  During the journey, the electric over-boost can be used to support the combustion engine, enabling it to run as frequently as possible within an efficiency-optimised load range and to reduce consumption peaks. Moreover, when driving within inefficient operational ranges, it is possible to supply the 48-volt battery with additional energy from the starter generator by raising the load point when required.  

Furthermore, the 48-volt starter generator provides for exceptionally smooth switching off as well as a faster and thus more comfortable re-starting of the combustion engine when the Auto Start Stop function is used at road junctions or in traffic jams. When the vehicle decelerates, the combustion engine can be disconnected at a speed of less than 15 km/h. The kinetic energy gained when decelerating further to a standstill is then used for recuperation. The efficiencyenhancing effect of the “coasting” function has also been optimised. At a speed of up to 160 km/h, the combustion engine is no longer switched into idle mode but is completely disconnected. During the journey, engine re-start is also fast and comfortable. The optimised “coasting” function is available both in the COMFORT and ECOPRO modes of the Driving Experience Switch.

Optimised emission performance: 40 BMW models now already fulfil the future Euro 6d emission standard.

With yet a further optimisation of the emission performance of numerous models, BMW is preparing well in advance for future legal requirements governing exhaust emissions. As from the spring of 2020, 33 further models from various model series will fulfil the Euro 6d exhaust emission standard. Consequently, 40 BMW models comply with the demands specified by the more stringent standard a year prior to the new emission regulation coming into force. 

The vehicles that will already comply with the Euro 6d emission standard as from the spring of 2020 include model variants of the BMW 1 Series, BMW 2 Series and BMW 3 Series as well as the BMW X1, BMW X2, BMW X3, BMW X4, BMW X5 and the BMW X6.

New drive variants for the BMW 1 Series, the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe, the BMW 3 Series Sedan and the BMW 3 Series Touring. Starting in March 2020, additional drive variants will increase the diversity of the BMW 1 Series and BMW 3 Series model range. The BMW 120d (combined fuel consumption: 4.6 – 4.3 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 121 – 112 g/km) will be added to the model range in the premium compact segment. The power generated by the car’s 2-litre, 140 kW/190 hp four-cylinder diesel power unit featuring BMW TwinPower Turbo Technology is transferred to the front wheels via a standard 8-speed Steptronic transmission, allowing the new BMW 120d to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds and to reach a top speed of 231 km/h. The new BMW 120d is one of the models that already fulfil the Euro 6d emission standard. 

The engines of the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe will be expanded with a 216d diesel engine.

A new four-cylinder petrol engine with a displacement of 2 litres and BMW TwinPower Turbo Technology complements the drive portfolio for the new BMW 3 Series. Next to to that an 316d diesel engine will be added for the BMW 3 Series Sedan. The power unit for the new BMW 318i Sedan (combined fuel consumption: 5.7 – 5.3 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 130 – 120 g/km) and the new BMW 318i Touring (combined fuel consumption: 6.2 – 5.7 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 140 – 130 g/km) delivers a maximum power output of 115 kW/156 hp and a peak torque of 250 Nm. The standard equipment range for the new BMW 3 Series entry model includes an 8-speed Steptronic transmission. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/ is 8.4 seconds for the Sedan and 8.7 seconds for the Touring model. Top speed is 223 km/h (BMW 318i Sedan) and 220 km/h (BMW 318i Touring) respectively.

BMW 7 Series and BMW 8 Series with extended standard configuration, additional offer of leather options and interior trims for the BMW X5, the BMW X6 and the BMW X7.

From March 2020, a broader range of standard features will enhance comfort in the luxury-class models of the BMW 7 Series and the BMW 8 Series. In future, BMW 7 Series luxury sedans, BMW 8 Series luxury sports cars as well as the high-performance models BMW M8 Competition Coupe (combined fuel consumption: 10.6 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 242 g/km), BMW M8 Competition Convertible (combined fuel consumption: 10.8 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 246 g/km) and BMW M8 Competition Gran Coupe (combined fuel consumption: 10.7 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 244 g/km) will be equipped with an automatic soft-close function for the doors.

Thanks to a wider selection of leather options and interior trims, there are now new possibilities to individualise the models BMW X5, BMW X6 and BMW X7. As from April, the leather trim perforated Vernasca in the colour combination Canberra Beige/Black is additionally available for these three models. In future, the BMW X6 can be ordered with the leather trim perforated Vernasca in the colour Cognac/Black. Likewise available for the Sports Activity Coupe are the extended BMW Individual leather options Merino in the colour combinations Tartufo/Black, Ivory White/Black and Ivory White/Night Blue/Black as well as the BMW Individual all-leather interior trim Merino in the colour combinations Coffee/Black and Tartufo/Black. Also new in the range of options for the BMW X6: High-grade Poplar Grain, Anthracite-Brown, open-pored.

Fuel consumption, CO2 emission figures and power consumption were measured using the methods required according to Regulation (EC) 2007/715 as amended. The figures are calculated using a vehicle fitted with basic equipment in Germany, the ranges stated take into account differences in selected wheel and tyre sizes as well as the optional equipment. They may change during configuration.

The figures have already been calculated based on the new WLTP test cycle and adapted to NEDC for comparison purposes. In these vehicles, different figures than those published here may apply for the assessment of taxes and other vehicle-related duties which are (also) based on CO2 emissions.

Munich. BMW will also be injecting many of the models not affected by its ongoing model offensive with added variety and appeal during the summer of 2019. Following the successful launch of the new BMW 3 Series Sedan, its choice of power units has now been expanded. New engines are also fitted in the BMW 8 Series Coupe, BMW 8 Series Convertible and BMW 5 Series Sedan. Elsewhere, the BMW Z4 sDrive20i (fuel consumption combined: 6.9 – 6.8 l/100 km [40.9 – 41.5 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 157 – 155 g/km) will also be available with a six-speed manual gearbox from July 2019.

The portfolio of plug-in hybrid models is also set to grow in summer 2019, thanks to additions such as the BMW 530e xDrive Sedan (petrol consumption combined: 2.2 – 2.0 l/100 km [128.4 – 141.2 mpg imp]; electric power consumption combined: 15.4 – 15.0 kWh/100 km; CO2 emissions combined: 49 – 46 g/km) with intelligent all-wheel drive. All plug-in hybrid models will now come with new battery cell technology to boost their electric range and will also feature acoustic protection for pedestrians as standard. The BMW X2 will come with LED headlights and LED foglamps as standard from July 2019. Last but not least, new optional extras, exterior paint finishes, leather variants and interior trim strips will open up further scope for customisation in many model ranges.

BMW 3 Series Sedan: additional power units, new body colours and options.

The new BMW 3 Series Sedan will serve up its distinctive brand of driving pleasure in a number of new formats from July 2019, when an ultra-sporty representative with a straight-six petrol engine and BMW xDrive, another three all-wheel-drive variants and a plug-in hybrid model are added to the line-up. As a result, customers will now have a choice of three petrol and three diesel engines, as well as a plug-in hybrid drive system. Five of the power units will combine with all-wheel drive, either as standard or optionally.

Spearheading the model range is the new BMW M340i xDrive Sedan (fuel consumption combined: 7.5 l/100 km [37.7 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 172 g/km), which is powered by a new 275 kW/374 hp six-cylinder in-line petrol engine. An eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission, intelligent all-wheel drive, an M Sport differential and bespoke chassis technology combine to keep the engine’s exceptional power planted firmly on the road and deliver a supremely assured and exhilarating drive. The likewise standard sports exhaust system produces a soundtrack to match. The new BMW M340i xDrive Sedan sprints from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.4 seconds.

From July 2019, intelligent all-wheel drive will be available in combination with another three engines. The trio of models benefiting from the superior traction, directional stability and agility this brings will be the BMW 320i xDrive Sedan (fuel consumption combined: 6.3 – 5.9 l/100 km [44.84 – 47.9 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 143 – 134 g/km), BMW 330i xDrive Sedan (fuel consumption combined: 6.5 – 6.2 l/100 km [43.5 – 45.6 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 147 – 141 g/km) and BMW 330d xDrive Sedan (fuel consumption combined: 5.4 – 5.1 l/100 km [52.3 – 55.4 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 140 – 134 g/km).

The new BMW 330e Sedan (petrol consumption combined: 1.9 – 1.6 l/100 km [148.7 – 176.6 mpg imp]; electric power consumption combined: 15.4 – 14.8 kWh/100 km; CO2 emissions combined: 43 – 37 g/km) delivers a particularly appealing blend of driving pleasure and efficiency. The plug-in hybrid model’s four-cylinder petrol engine and electric drive unit join forces to generate system output of up to 215 kW/292 hp when the newly developed XtraBoost mode is engaged. This enables the BMW 330e Sedan to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) from rest in 6.0 seconds. At the same time, it is capable of a maximum electric range from 59 to 66 kilometres (37 – 41 miles) courtesy of state-of-the-art battery technology.

M Sport suspension will also be available for the new BMW 3 Series Sedan (with the exception of the M Sport model) from July 2019, as will Adaptive M suspension. Both the optional suspension systems combine with Variable Sport Steering.

The new BMW Individual paint finishes Citrine Black metallic, Oxide Grey metallic, Frozen Dark Grey metallic and Brilliant White metallic create extra scope for customisation. Customers will also have the option of a BMW Individual leather steering wheel and three different BMW Individual interior trim strip designs from July 2019. BMW Individual extended leather upholstery Merino and BMW Individual Merino full leather trim – which wraps the upper section of the instrument panel and the door shoulders in black fulled leather, too – will also be added to the options list. The two leather trim variants are each available in a choice of five colours. BMW Individual extended leather upholstery Merino also features as part of the first BMW Individual Composition for the sports sedan. Other items in the Composition include 19-inch BMW Individual light-alloy wheels, a BMW Individual paint finish, sports seats, the BMW Individual leather steering wheel and an anthracite BMW Individual headliner. The M Sport Individual model is another new option combining the M Sport model’s equipment features with ultra-stylish details, such as 19-inch BMW Individual light-alloy wheels, a BMW Individual exterior paint finish, BMW Individual interior trim strips, BMW Individual extended leather upholstery Merino and the BMW Individual leather steering wheel.

BMW 5 Series: new V8 engine, plug-in hybrid model now also with all-wheel drive, attractive optional extras and packages.

A generation change for the V8 engine and another plug-in hybrid model make the range of drive systems available for the BMW 5 Series even more appealing. From July 2019 the BMW M550i xDrive Sedan (fuel consumption combined: 10.0 – 9.9 l/100 km [28.25 – 28.5 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 227 – 225 g/km) will be fitted with the latest update of the eight-cylinder engine with BMW M TwinPower Turbo technology. The new V8 has an optimised crankcase and larger turbochargers positioned in the “V” between the cylinder banks, and develops maximum output of 390 kW/530 hp plus peak torque of 750 Nm (553 lb-ft). The eight-cylinder teams up with the eight-speed Steptronic transmission, intelligent all-wheel drive and model-specific chassis technology to generate standout dynamics.

From July 2019 the latest-generation high-voltage battery will give the BMW 530e Sedan (petrol consumption combined: 1.8 – 1.6 l/100 km [156.9 – 176.6 mpg imp]; electric power consumption combined: 14.5 – 13.6 kWh/100 km; CO2 emissions combined: 41 – 36 g/km) a longer all-electric operating range. The plug-in hybrid model will now also be available with intelligent all-wheel drive. The link-up of four-cylinder petrol engine and electric drive system endow the new BMW 530e xDrive Sedan with system output of 185 kW/252 hp.

A new BMW Individual Composition will be available for all BMW 5 Series Sedan and BMW 5 Series Touring model variants from July 2019. The precisely coordinated design and equipment features for the exterior and interior include a BMW Individual paint finish and 20-inch BMW Individual light-alloy wheels, BMW Individual Exterior Line Aluminium satinated, comfort seats with active seat ventilation, BMW Individual extended leather upholstery Merino, a BMW Individual leather steering wheel, an Anthracite-coloured BMW Individual headliner, ambient lighting, a BMW Individual instrument panel in black leather and BMW Individual interior trim strips in Piano Finish Black.

BMW 8 Series: new six-cylinder in-line petrol engine, optional M Sport seats, additional paint finishes and leather trim variants.

Another engine option and four new model variants inject extra variety into the line-up of power units for the new BMW 8 Series luxury sports car. From July 2019 the BMW 8 Series Coupe and BMW 8 Series Convertible will also be offered with a new six-cylinder in-line-petrol engine developing 250 kW/340 hp. It teams up with rear-wheel drive in the new BMW 840i Coupe (fuel consumption combined: 7.3 – 7.2 l/100 km [38.7 –39.2 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 167 – 164 g/km) and new BMW 840i Convertible (fuel consumption combined: 7.5 – 7.4 l/100 km [37.7 – 38.2 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 170 – 168 g/km), and with intelligent all-wheel drive in the new BMW 840i xDrive Coupe (fuel consumption combined: 7.7 – 7.5 l/100 km [36.7 – 37.7 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 174 – 172 g/km) and new BMW 840i xDrive Convertible (fuel consumption combined: 7.8 – 7.7 l/100 km [36.2 - 36.7 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 178 – 175 g/km).

The engine line-up for the BMW 8 Series also includes a V8 option and a six-cylinder in-line diesel unit. All model variants stand out with their captivating performance attributes, which can be enjoyed in even greater richness and depth in the M Sport seats now added to the options list. As well as attention-grabbing bucket-seat contours and safety belts with accent strips in BMW M GmbH colours, the M Sport seats also feature 3D quilting, perforated central sections and bespoke stitching. Added to which, BMW 8 Series customers will also be able to specify BMW Individual full-leather appointments in eight colour variants from July 2019, plus BMW Individual fine wood interior trim strips in Black Ash Silver Effect high-gloss and Carbon Fibre.

Ultra-classy exterior paint finishes have been added to the spectrum of options available. For example, customers can now also order their BMW 8 Series Coupe or BMW 8 Series Convertible in the BMW Individual paint finish Frozen Bluestone metallic. The BMW 8 Series Convertible can also be ordered with the BMW Individual finishes Frozen Brilliant White metallic, Frozen Dark Brown metallic, Frozen Arctic Grey metallic, Frozen Dark Silver, Frozen Cashmere Silver, Pure Metal Silver, Brilliant White metallic, Tanzanite Blue metallic, Aventurine Red metallic and Almandine Brown metallic.

BMW X2: LED headlights now standard, additional light-alloy wheels, optional M Sport braking system.

The BMW X2 will come as standard from July 2019 with LED headlights with extended features. Their adaptive light distribution ensures optimum road illumination in urban areas, when turning off a road and through corners. LED front foglamps will also be part of standard specification for the compact Sports Activity Coupe. Options will include five new light-alloy wheels in 18- and 19-inch formats and two new upholstery variants.

The M Sport braking system fitted as standard on the BMW X2 M35i (fuel consumption combined: 7.1 – 6.9 l/100 km [39.8 – 40.9 mpg imp], CO2 emissions combined: 161 – 158 g/km) will now be available as an option for all other variants of the BMW X2. The Navigation option will now include an 8.8 inch Control Display with touchscreen functionality in place of the previous 6.5-inch version. And if the Navigation Plus option is specified, the display will have a screen diagonal of 10.25 inches.

BMW X3 and BMW X4: M Sport seats, new M Sport Individual equipment line.

New optional extras will be added to the range for the BMW X3 and BMW X4 in summer 2019 to give the duo yet more appeal. The Sports Activity Vehicle and Sports Activity Coupe will be available with the option of M Sport seats with distinct bucket-seat styling and special design features for the M Sport model, BMW X3 M40i (fuel consumption combined: 9.1 – 9.1 l/100 km [31.0 – 31.0 mpg imp], CO2 emissions combined: 207 – 206 g/km), BMW X3 M40d (fuel consumption combined: 6.5 – 6.4 l/100 km [43.5 – 44.1 mpg imp], CO2 emissions combined: 172 – 169 g/km), BMW X4 M40i (fuel consumption combined: 9.1 – 9.0 l/100 km [31.0 – 31.4 mpg imp], CO2 emissions combined: 206 – 205 g/km) and BMW X4 M40d (fuel consumption combined: 6.6 – 6.4 l/100 km [42.8 – 44.1 mpg imp], CO2 emissions combined: 173 – 170 g/km), as well as with additional interior trim strip variants.

The new M Sport Individual model available for the BMW X3 and BMW X4 from August 2019 brings together a number of high-quality touches that add to their dynamic prowess, while also giving them an even more stylish and exclusive aura. The equipment features of the M Sport model are combined with highlights such as a BMW Individual paint finish, 21-inch BMW Individual light-alloy wheels, BMW Individual extended leather upholstery Merino and BMW Individual interior trim strips in Piano Finish Black.

BMW X5 and BMW X7: new power units, plus more exterior paint finishes, light-alloy wheels and leather trim variants.

The choice of power units for the new BMW X5 will be expanded with the addition of a new entry-level engine in the form of a four-cylinder diesel available for the Sports Activity Vehicle from August 2019. The two-litre engine in the new BMW X5 xDrive25d (fuel consumption combined: 6.2 – 5.7 l/100 km [45.6 – 49.6 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 162 – 150 g/km) develops maximum output of 170 kW/231 hp and peak torque of 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) with the help of BMW TwinPower Turbo technology comprising multi-stage turbocharging and common-rail direct injection. The efficient diesel engine teams up with the eight-speed Steptronic transmission and xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system. The engine’s emission control system includes an SCR catalyst for reducing nitrogen oxide emissions, helping the new BMW X5 xDrive25d to satisfy the requirements of the Euro 6d-TEMP emissions norm.

The summer of 2019 will also see the launch of another exceptionally efficient version of the Sports Activity Vehicle in the form of the BMW X5 xDrive45e (petrol consumption combined: 2.0 – 1.7 l/100 km [141.2 – 166.2 mpg imp]; electric power consumption combined: 23.5 – 20.3 kWh/100 km; CO2 emissions combined: 47 – 39 g/km). This plug-in hybrid model is powered by a combination of a six-cylinder in-line petrol engine and an electric motor, which together generate system output of 290 kW/394 hp. The second-generation BMW X5 with electrified powertrain accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.6 seconds. The BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system is on hand to deliver sporty driving pleasure on the road and supremely assured performance off it by distributing the drive power from both engine and motor to all four wheels. The latest battery cell technology on board the new X5 xDrive45e helps it to cover distances of up to 80 kilometres (50 miles) on electric power alone.

Customers will also enjoy an even wider choice of optional extras. The body colour Manhattan metallic, 22-inch M light-alloy wheels in twin-spoke design, the BMW Individual Alcantara headliner in Anthracite or Ivory White and BMW Individual high-gloss Shadow Line trim with extended features will all be added to the BMW X5 options list from August 2019.

New options are being made available for the new BMW X7, too. From August 2019, it will be possible to upgrade the cabin of the luxury segment’s first ever Sports Activity Vehicle with BMW Individual Merino full leather trim in three different colours and a BMW Individual headliner in Anthracite or Ivory White Alcantara. The palette of colours for the exterior will now expand to include the Manhattan metallic shade and BMW Individual paint finishes Tanzanite Blue metallic and Ametrine metallic. And the BMW X7 can likewise now be specified with BMW Individual high-gloss Shadow Line trim with extended features.

BMW Z4: entry-level engine now also available with manual gearbox.

The 145 kW/197 hp four-cylinder petrol engine in the BMW Z4 sDrive20i (fuel consumption combined: 6.9 – 6.8 l/100 km [40.9 – 41.5 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 157 – 155 g/km) will be partnered by a six-speed manual gearbox as standard from July 2019. The entry-level version of the open-top sports car will also be optionally available with an eight-speed Steptronic transmission.

Plug-in hybrid models with new battery cell technology and acoustic protection for pedestrians.

From summer 2019, the new BMW 330e Sedan, new BMW 530e Sedan, new BMW 530e xDrive Sedan and new BMW X5 xDrive45e will be joined in the line-up of plug-in hybrid models boasting the very latest battery cell technology by the new BMW 225xe Active Tourer (petrol consumption combined: 2.1 – 1.9 l/100 km [134.5 – 148.7 mpg imp]; electric power consumption combined: 14.2 – 13.5 kWh/100 km; CO2 emissions combined: 47 – 42 g/km) and the BMW 7 Series luxury sedan models with electrified powertrains. The newly developed high-voltage batteries further increase efficiency at the same time as boosting the electric range.

From summer 2019, all plug-in hybrid models will be equipped with acoustic protection for pedestrians as standard. When driving on electric power, an unmistakable sound specially created for electrified BMW models is generated using a system of speakers. The sound produced at low speeds has been designed to announce the car’s presence acoustically without affecting acoustic comfort for its occupants.

New optional extra: BMW Drive Recorder - for the Belgian market only.

The BMW Drive Recorder is another new addition to the options list. It can be ordered in conjunction with Parking Assistant Plus and is available for the new BMW 3 Series Sedan, BMW 7 Series, BMW 8 Series, new BMW X5 and new BMW X7. The BMW Drive Recorder uses the cameras of the various driver assistance systems to record video footage from different points around the vehicle, before saving the recordings so they can be either watched later on the Control Display when the car is stationary or exported via the USB port.

Drivers can therefore shoot videos while driving through spectacular scenery, for example, or performing impressive manoeuvres on the race track, and then send them to their mobile device and share them. Recordings can be up to 40 seconds in length, comprising the 20 seconds of video saved immediately prior to the Drive Recorder being activated and the next 20 seconds. The Drive Recorder can be started at any time from the iDrive menu. Another benefit of the system is that, in the event of a collision, the 20 seconds before the accident and the 20 seconds following it are automatically recorded and saved, so they can be referred back to in any subsequent reconstruction of the incident.

With the sporty and elegant four-door coupe, the premium automobile manufacturer is adding to its range in the compact segment a particularly designoriented model for modern, urban target groups. The concept of a four-door coupe, already successful in higher vehicle classes, will in future combine a dynamic charisma and an expressive design with a high degree of everyday suitability also in the premium compact segment. The first BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe will make its word debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November 2019, with the worldwide market launch beginning in the spring of 2020. 

The BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe sets new accents in individuality, aesthetics and emotion in the premium compact segment. It combines an emotive design with sportiness and the latest innovations in operation and connectivity technology. Therefore, the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe offers the ideal prerequisites to attract new target groups to hallmark BMW driving pleasure. BMW already offers a unique range of compact models for various different requirements and target groups that is unmatched within the competitive environment. The BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe will once again create fresh impulses in this class. It builds on the latest BMW front-wheel drive architecture and shares a multitude of technological developments with the new BMW 1 Series, which will also be presented during the course of 2019.

The BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe has been conceived as a global offering that constitutes an attractive enrichment, especially for markets in which car buyers show a strong affinity for notchbacks. BMW will introduce a wave of enticing additions to standard specification and broaden the array of options available ex-factory in spring 2019, delivering a further boost to driving pleasure and individuality in many of its model ranges. New design features, exterior paint finishes and light-alloy wheels enhance the sporting appearance of the BMW 2 Series Coupe, BMW 2 Series Convertible, BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo, BMW 4 Series, BMW M4 Coupe (fuel consumption combined: 10.0 – 9.9 l/100 km [28.3 – 28.5 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 227 – 225 g/km) and BMW M4 Convertible (fuel consumption combined: 10.2 – 10.1 l/100 km [27.7 – 28.0 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 232 – 230 g/km). And just a few months on from the market launch of the new BMW 8 Series Coupe and new BMW X5, the selection of exterior paint finishes and leather appointments for the luxury sports car and Sports Activity Vehicle will grow to include additional variants.

BMW 2 Series Coupe, BMW 2 Series Convertible, BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo: fresh touches enhance sportiness and elegance.
Among the refreshing flourishes enriching the visual sportiness and elegance of the BMW 2 Series Coupe and BMW 2 Series Convertible are darkened rear lights, which will become part of standard specification in March 2019. The high-performance BMW M2 Competition (fuel consumption combined: 10.0 – 9.8 l/100 km [28.3 – 28.8 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 227 – 224 g/km) will likewise come with darkened rear lights as standard. BMW 2 Series Coupe and BMW 2 Series Convertible customers ordering their car in Sport Line specification will find additional bi-colour 17- and 18-inch light-alloy wheels on the options list.

18-inch M light-alloy wheels in twin-spoke design, painted in matt Cerium Grey and with mixed-size tyres, will be offered as a new option for the BMW M240i Coupe (fuel consumption combined: 7.4 – 7.3 l/100 km [38.2 – 38.7 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 168 – 167 g/km), BMW M240i xDrive Coupe (fuel consumption combined: 8.0 – 7.8 l/100 km [35.3 – 36.2 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 181 – 178 g/km), BMW M240i Convertible (fuel consumption combined: 7.6 – 7.6 l/100 km [37.2 – 37.2 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 173 – 172 g/km) and BMW M240i xDrive Convertible (fuel consumption combined: 8.4 – 8.3 l/100 km [33.6 – 34.0 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 191 – 188 g/km). The palette of exterior paint finishes for the particularly sporty six-cylinder BMW 2 Series models now also includes the new Long Beach Blue metallic variant, while the optional interior trim strips in smooth matt Carbon Fibre heighten the cabin’s sporting allure.

All Sport Line model and M Sport model variants of the BMW 2 Series Coupe and BMW 2 Series Convertible come with a black kidney grille surround. And new to the options list for the interior is Dakota leather trim with exclusive stitching.

Dark rear lights will also be included in the standard specification for the BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo from March 2019. Cars with the optional Adaptive LED Headlights also have black inserts for the headlight units, which the M Sport model will complement with a BMW kidney grille, exhaust tailpipe embellishers and exterior mirror caps (optional) in High-gloss Black. Added to which, Jet Black 18-inch M light-alloy wheels in star-spoke design and 19-inch M light-alloy wheels in twin-spoke design with Jet Black polished finish and mixed-size tyres are available for M Sport models as a new and exclusive option. In addition, the exterior colour shade Mineral White metallic can be specified for M Sport cars.

BMW 4 Series, BMW M4 Coupe, BMW M4 Convertible: new paint finishes, light-alloy wheels and leather appointments.
The BMW 4 Series will present an even more alluring proposition from March 2019 thanks to new individualisation options. For example, the stylish elegance of the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe will be showcased to particularly stunning effect by the BMW Individual paint finish Aventurine Red metallic and BMW Individual special paint finish Frozen Dark Grey metallic. The selection of colours available for the BMW 4 Series Coupe and BMW 4 Series Convertible now also includes Mediterranean Blue metallic. Newcomers to the range of optional equipment available for all BMW 4 Series models are 18-inch light-alloy wheels in twin-spoke design and the bi-colour paint variant Orbit Grey, plus 19-inch M light-alloy wheels in twin-spoke design and bi-colour Jet Black with mixed-size tyres.

The interior also contains some new and distinctive touches in the form of the Mocha colour shade for the optional Dakota leather trim on Sport Line, Luxury Line and M Sport cars and interior trim strips in Carbon Fibre, which are available in conjunction with M Sport specification. The M Sport and Sport Line variants of the BMW 4 Series will now be fitted with black rear light screens and a BMW kidney grille surround in High-gloss Black as standard.

Darkened rear lights are also set to adorn the rear of the BMW M4 Coupe and BMW M4 Convertible. The BMW Individual paint finish Frozen Dark Blue II will be offered as an option for the two high-performance models from March 2019. Plus, the BMW M4 Coupe with M Competition package can be ordered with two new bi-colour leather trim options. BMW Individual fine-grain Merino full leather trim is available in the Sakhir Orange/Black and Silverstone/ Black combinations.

Exclusive dynamics: new M Sport Individual equipment line for the BMW 4 Series.
A new and highly desirable addition to the selection of equipment lines available from March 2019 for the BMW 4 Series Coupe, BMW 4 Series Convertible and BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe is the M Sport Individual model. Here, signature M features designed to fuel dynamic driving pleasure team up with suitably exclusive options from BMW Individual. The new equipment line includes the BMW Individual paint finish Tanzanite Blue metallic, an M Aerodynamics package, BMW Individual High-gloss Shadow Line, 19-inch BMW Individual light-alloy wheels in V-spoke design with mixed-size tyres, and variable sport steering. Customers can also choose from a wide range of options when it comes to exterior paint finishes, light-alloy wheels, leather upholstery and interior trim strips.

BMW 5 Series range: BMW Individual Composition with M Sport features.
A neatly blended selection of super-exclusive design and equipment features distinguishes the BMW Individual Composition with M Sport features available for the BMW 5 Series Sedan and BMW 5 Series Touring from March 2019. The new option includes BMW Individual paintwork in Azurite Black metallic, Carbon Black metallic, Champagne Quartz metallic, Almandine Brown metallic or Rhodonite Silver metallic, 20-inch BMW Individual light-alloy wheels, BMW Individual extended leather upholstery Merino in Tartufo, Caramel or Smoke White, comfort seats with active seat ventilation, a leather-covered BMW Individual instrument panel, a BMW Individual headliner in Anthracite and BMW Individual interior trim strips.

BMW 8 Series Coupe now available with a richer variety of paint finishes and leather appointments.
The show-stopping design and luxurious interior ambience of the new BMW 8 Series Coupe can be tailored even more precisely to the owner’s personal style from spring 2019 thanks to a wider array of exterior paint finishes and leather appointments. BMW X5: new exterior colours and leather appointments.
The range of body colour shades and leather appointments for the new BMW X5 will also be further expanded in spring 2019. A selection of additional options will help customers bring a personalised flavour to the interior of the new BMW X5. Sales get underway of the BMW X2 M35i; BMW X1 xDrive20i, BMW X2 xDrive20i and BMW X1 xDrive25i now with gasoline particulate filter.
The BMW X2 will welcome a new top-of-the-line model variant in spring 2019. The market launch des BMW X2 M35i sees the extrovert design of the compact Sports Activity Coupes link up with an extremely powerful four-cylinder petrol engine. Munich. With the world premiere of the most powerful diesel engine ever used in a BMW production car and the introduction of three BMW iPerformance models, the drive portfolio of the BMW 7 Series continues to gain in diversity and fascination in the summer of 2016. At the same time, the BMW 1 Series and the BMW 2 Series will feature further petrol engines of the BMW Group's latest drive generation for the first time. These also include an even more powerful but also more efficient straight six-cylinder for the BMW M Performance models BMW M140i 3-door, BMW M140i 5-door, the BMW M240i Coupe and the BMW M240i Convertible.

Like the plug-in hybrid powered BMW 7 Series luxury sedans, the three additional BMW iPerformance models will in future also be recognisable by their characteristic exterior design features. Other innovations taking effect as from July 2016 include the introduction of the optional features telephony with wireless charging and WLAN hotspot for additional series. Moreover, in conjunction with the optional navigation system Professional, the iDrive control system now also features a new menu display in tile format for the BMW 1 Series, the BMW 2 Series Coupe and the BMW 2 Series Convertible, models of the BMW 3 Series and BMW 4 Series.

BMW 7 Series: New high-performance diesel engine and three BMW iPerformance models.

With the latest innovations in the field of drive technology being introduced in the summer of 2016, the BMW 7 Series is yet again setting a fascinating example of dynamics and efficiency in the luxury sedan segment. An entirely newly developed straight six-cylinder diesel engine is making its debut in the models BMW 750d xDrive and BMW 750Ld xDrive. The BMW TwinPower Turbo technology featured in the 3-litre power unit comprises four turbochargers, whose precisely coordinated function ensures an early onset of pulling power that continues right up into high engine speed ranges. With a peak output of 294 kW/400 hp and a maximum torque of 760 Newton metres, the new six-cylinder is the most powerful diesel engine ever used in a BMW model. With supreme power delivery and power transmission via the standard intelligent four-wheel drive system, the BMW 750d xDrive accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds (BMW 750Ld xDrive: 4.7 seconds), also offering even more forward thrust at high speeds that can be felt intensively at any time during short bursts of speed. Furthermore, the new top-of-the-range diesel model excels through exceptionally low fuel consumption that is truly unique in this performance class. Combined fuel consumption of the BMW 750d xDrive and the BMW 750Ld xDrive is between 5.9 and 5.7 litres per 100 kilometres and CO2 emissions are between 154 – 149 g/km (figures as per EU test cycle, depending on selected tyre size).

The BMW 7 Series iPerformance models will also be launched together with new diesel variants in the summer of 2016. The plug-in hybrid drive system including BMW eDrive technology from BMW i automobile development will become available for the models BMW 740e iPerformance featuring a standard wheelbase, for the BMW 740Le iPerformance with a long wheelbase and for the BMW 740Le xDrive iPerformance with intelligent four-wheel drive. Together, the combustion engine and electric motor featured in these models generate a system output of 240 kW/326 hp, their intelligently controlled interaction ensuring impressively spontaneous power delivery resulting in exemplary efficiency. Furthermore, driving in solely electric mode is possible with a vehicle range of up to 44 to 48 kilometres (BMW 740Le xDrive iPerformance: 41 – 45 kilometres). The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h is completed in 5.4 seconds with the BMW 740e iPerformance, in 5.5 seconds with the BMW 740Le iPerformance and in 5.3 seconds with the BMW 740Le xDrive iPerformance. Average combined fuel consumption per 100 kilometres is between 2.2 and 2.0 litres (BMW 740Le xDrive iPerformance: 2.5 – 2.1 litres). CO2 emissions are between 50 and 45 grams per kilometre (BMW 740e iPerformance) or 51 and 45 grams per kilometre (BMW 740Le iPerformance) or 56 and 49 grams per kilometre (BMW 740Le xDrive iPerformance) respectively. Combined power consumption is 13.9 kWh/100 km to 12.5 kWh/100 km. (figures as per EU test cycle for plug-in hybrid vehicles, depending on selected tyre size).

BMW M Performance models of the BMW 1 Series and BMW 2 Series: New engine generation with enhanced power and optimised efficiency.

From July 2016, BMW M Performance automobiles of the BMW 1 Series and BMW 2 Series will underscore their outstanding sporting character even more intensely with an extremely powerful straight six-cylinder petrol engine of the latest generation. Compared with the previous engine, the newly developed 3-litre power unit featuring M Performance Twin Power Turbo technology now mobilises 250 kW/340 hp following a power increase of 10 kW/14 hp and delivers a maximum of 500 Newton metres of torque. As a result, the BMW M Performance models now come up to the performance level of the BMW 1 Series M Coupe, which was built from 2011 to 2012. They complete the spurt from 0 to 100 km/h by up to 0.3 seconds faster than the predecessor models, whilst both fuel consumption and CO2 emissions as per EU test cycle are up to 7 percent lower than before. The increase in power under the bonnet and the resulting enhanced dynamics are also expressed in the new model designations for the BMW M140i 3-door, the BMW M140i 5-door, the BMW M240i Coupe and the BMW M240i Convertible. They are optionally available with BMW xDrive intelligent four-wheel drive technology.

With the standard 6-speed manual transmission, the models BMW M140i 3-door and BMW M140i 5-door accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds or with the optional 8-speed Steptronic sports transmission in 4.6 seconds respectively. Fuel consumption as per EU test cycle is 7.8 litres per 100 kilometres (automatic: 7.1 litres) and CO2 emissions 179 grams per kilometre (163 g/km). The BMW M140i xDrive 3-door and the BMW M140i xDrive 5-door come as standard with an 8-speed Steptronic sports transmission and both reach the 100 km/h mark from a standstill in 4.4 seconds. Their combined fuel consumption is 7.4 litres per 100 kilometres and CO2 emissions are 169 grams per kilometre.

The BMW M Performance models of the BMW 2 Series are also optionally available with BMW xDrive intelligent four-wheel drive technology and are in this case equipped as standard with the 8-speed Steptronic sports transmission. The BMW M240i Coupe sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds (automatic: 4.6 seconds) and has a combined fuel consumption of 7.8 litres per 100 kilometres (7.1 litres) as per EU test cycle. CO2 emissions are 179 grams per kilometre (163 g/km). The BMW M240i xDrive Coupe completes the sprint to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds and achieves an average fuel consumption of 7.4 litres per 100 kilometres as well as a CO2 emission level of 169 grams per kilometre. The BMW M240i Convertible accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds (automatic: 4.7 seconds). Average fuel consumption is 8.3 litres per 100 kilometres (automatic: 7.4 litres) and CO2 emissions are 189 grams per kilometre (169 g/km). BMW 1 Series, BMW 2 Series Coupe and BMW 2 Series Convertible: New four-cylinder petrol engine for eight models.

From July 2016, the generation change under the bonnet will affect many further models of the BMW 1 Series and the BMW 2 Series. Two variants of the BMW 1 Series 3-door, the BMW 1 Series 5-door, the BMW 2 Series Coupe and the BMW 2 Series Convertible will each be powered by new four-cylinder petrol engines that further optimize the balance between driving pleasure and fuel consumption. The 2-litre power units both feature latest BMW TwinPower Turbo technology comprising a Twin Scroll turbo charger, direct petrol injection, VALVETRONIC and Double VANOS. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a standard 6-speed manual transmission and optionally via an 8-speed Steptronic transmission.

The new engines help the BMW 120i 3-door and the BMW 120i 5-door attain an increase in output of 5 kW/7 hp to 135 kW/184 hp. Equipped with the standard manual transmission or the optional 8-speed Steptronic transmission, both models accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.1 seconds. Combined fuel consumption is between 6.1 and 5.7 litres per 100 kilometres (automatic: 5.9 and 5.5 litres). Engine output of the models BMW 125i 3-door and BMW 125i 5-door has also increased by 5 kW/7 hp. With a power delivery of 165 kW/224 hp and the meanwhile standard 8-speed Steptronic transmission, both models now sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds. The enhanced dynamics are coupled with a lower fuel consumption of 5.9 to 5.7 litres per 100 kilometres and CO2 emissions of 134 to 130 grams per kilometre (figures as per EU test cycle, depending on selected tyre size).

The new version of the 135 kW/184 hp four-cylinder engine also optimizes efficiency of the BMW 220i Coupe and the BMW 220i Convertible. The BMW 220i Coupe accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.1 seconds (automatic: 7.2 seconds and achieves a combined fuel consumption of 6.1 bis 5.7 litres per 100 kilometres (5.9 – 5.5 litres) and CO2-emissions of 140 to 131 grams per kilometre (135 – 126 g/km). The BMW 220i Convertible sprints to100 km/h in 7.5 seconds (7.7 seconds) and combined fuel consumption is now between 6.5 and 6.1 litres per 100 kilometres (6.1 – 5.7 litres). CO2 emission levels are between 149 and 139 grams per kilometre (140 – 131 g/km (figures as per EU test cycle, depending on selected tyre size).

July 2016 will see the launch of the BMW 2 Series’ sportiest four-cylinder variants with a power output increase of 5 kW/7 hp to 185 kW/252 hp vs. their predecessors and with the model designations BMW 230i Coupe and BMW 230i Convertible. These also come as standard with a 6-speed manual transmission and optionally with an 8-speed Steptronic or 8-speed Steptronic sports transmission respectively. The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h is completed by the BMW 230i Coupe in 5.8 seconds (automatic: 5.6 seconds). Average fuel consumption is between 6.4 and 6.2 litres per 100 kilometres (5.9 – 5.7 litres) and CO2 emissions are between 147 and 142 grams per kilometre (134 – 130 g/km). The BMW 230i Convertible accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds (automatic: 5.9 seconds) and has a combined fuel consumption of 6.8 to 6.5 litres per 100 kilometres (6.2 – 6.0 litres). CO2 emissions are between 155 and 149 grams per kilometre (142 – 137 g/km (figures as per EU test cycle, depending on selected tyre size).

With the market launch of the first plug-in hybrid models, BMW eDrive technology comprising electric motors, lithium ion high-performance batteries and intelligent energy management have now been added to the BMW brand’s vehicle range. In addition to the three BMW 7 Series plug-in hybrid models available starting July 2016, three further segments offer a choice of vehicles combining a combustion engine with an electric drive. In future, they will bear the model designations BMW 225xe iPerformance Active Tourer, BMW 330e iPerformance Sedan and BMW X5 xDrive40e iPerformance. The technology transfer from BMW i automobile development, helping them attain a new level of dynamics and path-breaking efficiency, is now underscored by characteristic exterior design features.

In addition to the “eDrive” logo on the C pillar, the BMW iPerformance models will feature a BMW i logo on the front left and right sidewalls, blue hubcaps and a BMW kidney grill with slats painted in typical BMW i blue. From December 2016, these new features will be standard on the BMW X5 xDrive40e iPerformance and on all further BMW iPerformance models as early as from July 2016. Analogous to the model name plates on all BMW models, specific design features on BMW iPerformance models can also be omitted if the customer so wishes. Further equipment features originally designed for the BMW i3 and the BMW i8 and which are also available as standard or as options for all BMW iPerformance models, include hybrid-specific BMW ConnectedDrive services as well as the complete BMW i 360° ELECTRIC portfolio.

New from BMW ConnectedDrive: BMW iDrive with optimized menu display, telephony with wireless charging and WLAN hotspot available for further models.

From the summer of 2016, three new features from BMW ConnectedDrive, which were previously only available for the BMW 7 Series and BMW 6 Series, will also find their way to the BMW 1 Series, the BMW 2 Series Coupe and the BMW 2 Series Convertible, the BMW 3 Series and BMW 4 Series. A new, extremely clearly structured menu display and a higher screen resolution for the Control Display will in future optimize the control of vehicle, infotainment, navigation and communication functions via the iDrive controller. In conjunction with the navigation system Professional, the on-board monitor no longer displays the main menu and control options for the various functions in lists, but in the form of adjacently arranged tile symbols. Furthermore, the speech recognition feature of the navigation system Professional has been supplemented by the function Natural Language, with which spoken instructions can be given not only as predefined text modules, but also freely formulated in complete sentences.

The optional feature telephony with wireless charging enhances comfort when using mobile phones inside the vehicle. Inductively chargeable smartphones can be supplied wirelessly with electricity during the journey using the mobile telephone facility provided for this purpose in the centre console. Apart from the integration of the smartphone into the vehicle operating system, the new option also includes a connection to the exterior antenna and two USB ports as well as the WLAN hotspot function, which facilitates high-speed Internet connectivity for up to eight mobile end devices.

Wider choice of leather seats for the BMW 1 Series, BMW 2 Series, BMW 3 Series and BMW 4 Series.

As a variant that is ideally suited to the charisma of the model M Sport, the leather trim Dakota in the colour black with blue contrast stitching will be available for the BMW 1 Series, the BMW 2 Series Coupe and the BMW 2 Series Convertible as well as for all models of the BMW 3 Series and BMW 4 Series from July 2016. In the case of all BMW 3 Series and BMW 4 Series, both the model M Sport as well as the models Luxury Line and Sport Line can now be ordered with the seat variant Dakota Veneto Beige in combination with the interior colour black.
