  industry in 2023, BMW Group UK and its latest models continued to make
  waves, scooping up numerous prestigious awards in June and July, with
  battery electric models garnering significant attention. BMW and MINI
  won six awards at the Auto Express New Car Awards, while BMW further
  distinguished itself by earning commendations at the Auto Trader New
  Car Awards and Autovista Group Residual Value Awards.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>BMW Group UK takes home six awards at the Auto Express New Car
    Awards 2023<br />
    <br /></strong>BMW Group UK proudly took home six awards from the
  Auto Express New Car Awards 2023, demonstrating its continued
  excellence across a variety of categories and reinforcing the breadth
  of its model portfolio. BMW secured five awards across numerous
  categories and MINI garnered an additional victory with the MINI Convertible.<br />
  <br />The third-generation BMW X1, launched in the summer of 2022, led
  its class according to Auto Express by winning the Small Premium SUV
  of the Year award. With its distinctive design, increased interior
  space, premium ambience, and high-level standard specification.<br />
  <br />Introduced in November 2021, the i4— the first fully-electric
  BMW Gran Coupé—continues to make an impression nearly two years
  post-launch, claiming the Premium Car of the Year award. Another of
  the BMW brand’s fully-electric models, the BMW iX, impressed judges
  with its luxurious and contemporary interior, earning the Best Large
  Company Car of the Year accolade.<br />
  <br />The brand’s flagship model, the BMW i7, already boasting four
  major awards since its UK launch at the end of 2022, now adds Auto
  Express’ Luxury Car of the Year to its roster. Offering a cutting-edge
  digital experience with the BMW Theatre Screen and BMW Interaction
  Bar, the BMW i7 combines striking style with a luxurious interior to
  lead its segment.<br />
  <br />The all-new BMW M2, which launched recently in the UK, received
  its first accolade in the UK at the Auto Express New Car Awards 2023,
  securing the Performance Car of the Year title. Building on its
  powerful predecessor, the latest M2 embodies the pure joy of driving
  by fusing classic high-performance sports car elements with
  cutting-edge technology.<br />
  <br />Finally, the MINI Convertible emerged victorious in the
  Convertible of the Year category for the sixth time—a testament to the
  model's enduring appeal. Available in the UK with a high standard
  specification, and also offered as a BEV – a first for its kind.<br />
  <br />Speaking at the awards, Steve Fowler, Editor-in-Chief at Auto
  Express said: "What a year for BMW - we've been blown away by the
  brilliance of its cars this year so it's no surprise that the brand
  walks away with five of our trophies. Every winner blends the
  efficiency, quality and usable technology that BMW has become known
  for, underpinned by the very best driving qualities - on any road, on
  any day and for any driver. The i4, i7 and iX prove that the company
  is really leading on electrification, while the X1 shows a clear
  understanding of the needs and priorities of today's SUV buyers. Then
  there's the M2 doing what, arguably, BMW is most famous for - putting
  a massive smile on the face of keen drivers.<br />
  <br />"It's another win for the MINI - our favourite convertible
  car. Even as the current car nears the end of its life - with hugely
  exciting electric models waiting in the wings - we love its blend of
  driving dynamics, comfort and the all-important style that's so
  important with top-down motoring."<br />
  <br />
  <strong>BMW iX3 boasts Best Premium Electric Car at the Auto Trader
    New Car Awards 2023<br />
    <br /></strong>At the seventh annual Auto Trader New Car Awards in
  June, the BMW iX3 clinched the award for the Best Premium Electric
  Car. The awards are decided by over 220,000 UK car owners who
  completed an online survey sharing exactly what they think of their
  car, with their thoughts and opinions determining the final category winners.<br />
  <br />Erin Baker, Auto Trader’s Editorial Director, said: “The iX3 is
  all the electric SUV anyone needs, with a plush interior, spirited
  performance and that legendary BMW ride and handling. One owner summed
  it up perfectly by saying: ‘The driving experience is second to none,
  it’s comfortable, fast, smooth and quiet. Love it.’ Huge congrats, BMW.”<br />
  <br />
  <strong>BMW i4 shines in the Autovista Group Residual Value Awards<br />
    <br /></strong>In June, the BMW i4 secured the Compact and Large
  Battery-Electric Vehicle (BEV) category at the inaugural Autovista
  Group Residual Value Awards. The awards, which assess data from 17
  different European markets, recognise the models with superior value
  retention. Judges chose i4 as the winner of this category due to its
  strong performance across all major markets, with the model's success
  attributed to its sleek silhouette, enjoyable driving experience,
  strong family identity, internal space on par with the BMW 4 Series
  Gran Coupé and impressive range.<br />
  <br />The Autovista24 team commended the i4's design, emphasising that
  it looks more like a conventional BMW than an exclusively
  battery-electric model, broadening its appeal to a wide range of
  drivers in both new and used car markets.<br />

<p>
  <br />All eyes will be on BMW M GmbH at the 2022 Goodwood Festival of
  Speed, as BMW’s legendary Motorsport division celebrates five decades
  of success. Festivalgoers will witness the world premiere of the
  first-ever BMW M3 Touring and the UK premiere of the new BMW M4 CSL,
  as both take to the hill throughout the world-famous four-day event.
  All this against the backdrop of a striking central feature sculpture
  on the lawn of Goodwood House, designed as a homage to 50 years of
  motorsport excellence as it showcases some of the most iconic models
  from BMW M. Elsewhere, visitors will be able to see – and in some
  cases, drive – the latest models from BMW’s exciting range, including
  the new BMW iX1, i7, i4 and iX M60.</p>
<p>For the first time in its history, the BMW M range will be
  complemented by a BMW M3 Touring which is a distillation of the
  technological prowess and know-how from the BMW M3 and M4 family,
  combined with the practicality of a five-door touring model. This
  latest BMW M model will be unveiled at BMW M at Trackside at 10:00 am
  (BST) on Thursday 23 June, alongside a high-performance M3 Touring
  with Performance Parts, and can then be seen on the Hillclimb in the
  ‘First Glance’ category every day of the Festival.</p>
<p>Alongside the M3 Touring and BMW M3 Touring MotoGP Safety Car on the
  hill will be the new BMW M4 CSL, celebrating its UK premiere. This
  ultimate, track-honed, two-seater coupe is defined by a 40hp power
  hike over the current BMW M4 Competition Coupé to 550hp, while
  meticulous weight-saving measures – including the use of carbon-fibre
  for the roof, bonnet and boot lid – achieve a 100kg reduction in
  overall weight (in standard specification in the German market). As a
  result, the new BMW M4 CSL has recorded the best-ever lap-time for a
  BMW road car at the Nürburgring’s Nordschleife circuit.</p>
<p>With BMW M GmbH as the honoured marque, the Central Feature in front
  of Goodwood House will present an eye-catching display of BMW M cars
  past, present and future. BMW UK will add its legendary BMW 3.0 CSL to
  the Central Feature, while BMW Group Classic is providing three
  further examples: the BMW M1 Procar from the late 1970s; a WTCC BMW 3
  Series E90; the Le Mans winning 1999 BMW V12 LMR. The display is
  completed by the BMW M LMDh racecar, that will debut next year.</p>
<p>Besides providing historic BMW M cars for the Central Feature, BMW
  Group Classic will bring four additional famous race cars to
  Goodwood’s Hillclimb. Pedro Piquet (BRA), son of three-time F1 World
  Champion Nelson Piquet, will drive the world’s first turbo-charged F1
  World Champion car, the 1983 Brabham BMW BT52.</p>
<p>Steve Soper (UK) will climb the hill in the BMW V12 LMR on Thursday.
  He is followed by Markus Flasch (CEO of BMW M GmbH, 2018-2021), who
  will be in the driver’s seat on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.</p>
<p>HRH Leopold Prince of Bavaria (GER) will drive the sharknose BMW
  635CSi and Bruno Spengler (CAN) will drive his famous BMW Z4 GTR which
  features the Michel Vaillant Design from the 2015 Spa-Francorchamps
  24h race.</p>
<p>For many, BMW M at Trackside will form the focal point for the long
  weekend’s celebrations. Crowned by an original BMW M1, the stand will
  host iconic models from BMW M’s illustrious past, from the legendary
  BMW M3 E30 to the revered BMW M3 CSL E46. They will take their place
  alongside a thrilling line-up of modern-day BMW M greats, from the
  ultimate 635hp BMW M5 CS and track-honed BMW M4 GT3 to the exclusive
  new BMW M850i Convertible and innovative electric BMW i4 M50. Visitors
  will be able to catch a glimpse of the future for BMW M, with the
  innovative BMW Concept XM, a vision of uncompromising high performance
  and extravagant luxury.</p>
<p>The Stable Yard – once again dedicated to BMW’s latest range of
  all-electric and electrified models – will offer the chance to see the
  stunning BMW i Vision Circular, a concept which illustrates the
  company’s determination to become the most sustainable manufacturer.
  Optimised for the circular economy and with the goal of achieving 100%
  recycled and recyclable material use, the BMW i Vision Circular offers
  a view of a compact yet luxurious fully-electric vehicle with a focus
  on sustainability for the year 2040.</p>
<p>BMW’s sustainability focus is equally apparent in the new BMW i7, on
  display in The Stable Yard following its recent unveiling. The latest
  version of the brand’s flagship saloon is set to redefine the luxury
  segment with new levels of electrification and digitalisation. Its
  state-of-the-art all-electric drivetrain is complemented by a blend of
  luxurious interior design and an astonishing entertainment experience,
  with the multi-sensory BMW iDrive and unique 31.3-inch 8K BMW Theatre
  Screen. These attributes are further displayed in the powerful new BMW
  M760e, a plug-in hybrid with 571hp that delivers scintillating
  performance yet achieves remarkable efficiency.</p>
<p>The recently revealed BMW iX1 will make its UK debut at Goodwood
  Festival of Speed, representing another first at the Stable Yard. The
  third-generation BMW X1 features a sharper design, across-the-board
  sustainability and cutting-edge digital innovations. Available for the
  first time with an all-electric drive system, the BMW iX1 xDrive30 is
  set to offer an electric driving range between 257 – 272 miles (WLTP,
  provisional figures).</p>
<p>These models will also be joined by the company’s technology
  flagship, the new BMW iX M60, a fully-electric Sports Activity Vehicle
  that combines emissions-free driving pleasure and sporting agility
  with lounge-style luxury and comfort. Powered by two BMW M eDrive
  electric motors to provide intelligent BMW xDrive all-wheel-drive
  capability, the BMW iX M60 can accelerate from 0-62 mph in a seamless
  3.8 seconds, yet still achieve up to 348 miles (WLTP) of driving range
  on a single charge.</p>
<p>Members of the public will be able to experience the BMW iX M60’s
  searing performance for themselves during Friday’s ‘Electric Only’
  Motor Circuit Test Drives, where they’ll also be able to take to the
  circuit behind the wheel of the new BMW i4, the brand’s first-ever
  fully-electric Gran Coupé, and the practical BMW iX3.</p>
<p>Frank van Meel, CEO of BMW M, said: “There can be no better place to
  celebrate our 50th anniversary than among our fans at this year’s
  Goodwood Festival of Speed, surrounded by the iconic cars that have
  cemented our position in motorsport history. But we’ll also spend our
  time at the world-famous event looking to the future, with a selection
  of exciting new models from our innovative electrified line-up, and
  the global premiere of the eagerly-anticipated first-ever BMW M3 Touring.”</p>
<p>The Goodwood Festival of Speed is being held over four days from
  23-26 June 2022.</p>

    a 1:1 copy of the original issued by BMW headquarters in Germany. No
    adaptations have been made to cater for the UK market.</span></p>
<p>The BMW iX3’s integration in the new Marvel Studios film coincides
  with the launch of the updated model. The new features introduced for
  the iX3 in September 2021 primarily affect the design of the exterior,
  and there are also changes for the interior and equipment. The update
  brings the BMW iX3 closer stylistically to the new family of BMW
  premium electric vehicles headlined by the BMW iX and BMW i4.</p>
<p>Along with the BMW iX3, the BMW M8 sports car in melbourne red (BMW
  individual color) also makes an appearance in the film. Both take
  center stage in action-packed set pieces that showcase the power and
  agility of both vehicles.</p>
<p>
  <strong>About Marvel Studios’ “Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten
  Rings”.<br /></strong>Marvel Studios’ “Shang-Chi and The Legend of The

  Awkwafina as Shang-Chi’s friend Katy and Michelle Yeoh as Jiang Nan,
  as well as Fala Chen, Meng’er Zhang, Florian Munteanu and Ronny Chieng.</p>

  i4<br />• Enhanced levels of standard equipment, adding M Sport
  Package as standard<br />• BMW iX3 retail customers benefit from a
  year of BMW Charging packages without subscription fee<br />• Pricing
  from £60,970 OTR for the BMW iX3 M Sport, with the first UK customer
  deliveries from December 2021</p>
<p>
  <br />Now with a more visually striking appearance, the new BMW iX3
  has undergone an exterior design refresh and introduced the M Sport
  Package as standard in the UK, further enhancing the already high specification.<br />
  <br />The BMW kidney grille is now larger than before and has a
  single-piece frame which comes in Pearl-effect Chrome with a blue
  accent – in familiar BMW i style – along the inner edges, whilst the
  inner surfaces of the kidney grille elements have a mesh-like
  structure and feature a BMW i badge.<br />
  <br />The headlight contours are now ten millimetres slimmer, helping
  to give the new BMW iX3 a sharper look and lending the front end a
  distinct similarity to that of the BMW iX and BMW i4.<br />
  <br />The lower air intake, which comes with ten-stage active air flap
  control to cool the drive system components and brakes, has gained in
  size. The air curtains positioned at the outer edges of the front end
  are now L-shaped and have blue accents.<br />
  <br />Air breathers in the front side panels also have a new
  M-specific design, while the blue accent in the side skirts is
  omitted. Muscular and aerodynamically optimised surfacing marks out
  the rear apron of the new BMW iX3. The outer elements of the rear
  diffuser are in BMW i Blue and the contours of the fully LED rear
  lights are marked out even more precisely by a black surround. The
  striking design at night is defined by the slim light graphic and new
  three-dimensional pincer-shaped contouring with delicately integrated,
  horizontal turn signal indicators.<br />
  <br />BMW iX3 deploys BMW Group’s fifth-generation eDrive technology
  including an innovative charging unit, which sends power to both the
  400V battery and the 12V on-board power supply. When charging using
  alternating current, it enables both single-phase and three-phase
  charging at up to 11 kW. Plugging the vehicle into a direct current
  rapid-charging station opens the door to charging outputs of up to 150
  kW, meaning the high-voltage battery can be charged from 0 to 80 per
  cent of its full capacity in 34 minutes. Drivers can inject the power
  required to add 62 miles to the car’s driving range (in the WLTP
  cycle) in just 10 minutes.<br />
  <br />The gravimetric energy density of the 188 prismatic cells in the
  new BMW iX3 is around 20 per cent higher than that of the battery
  cells used in previous fully-electric BMW Group vehicles. A gross
  energy content of 80 kWh – of which 74 kWh is utilised – and the high
  efficiency of the drive systems allow the BMW iX3 to offer a range of
  up to 286 miles* (WLTP test cycle).<br />

  <br />
  <br />
  <strong>BMW Charging<br /></strong>With the launch of BMW Charging in
  the UK, BMW iX3 customers have access to one of the world’s largest
  public charging networks using just one RFID card or App. Using a
  single BMW Charging card or BMW Charging App, customers can charge at
  more than 11,000 charging points from different operators across the
  UK, as well as 173,000 charge points across Europe.<br />
  <br />BMW iX3 drivers benefit from access to charge points from a
  range of operators, with the current network including bp pulse
  (including ChargeYourCar), ESB, Osprey, Source London and Chargepoint
  Network UK (including INSTAVOLT) and others. High-power charging
  stations via IONITY are also part of the BMW Charging network.
  Combined, this gives drivers access to over 8,500 AC and 1,500 DC
  charging points across the UK, plus a further 162,000 AC and 11,000 DC
  charging points across Europe.<br />
  <br />For drivers who use public charging more frequently, BMW
  Charging offers two additional monthly subscription packages. The ‘bp
  pulse’ package (£7.85 per month) offers customers preferential pricing
  per/kWh when charging at over 5,500 bp pulse charging points.
  Customers using up to 22kW AC pay just £0.16 per kWh, up to 43kW AC or
  50kW DC is £0.23 per kWh, and up to 150kW DC at £0.27 per kWh.<br />
  <br />For drivers who use the IONITY charging network, the ‘IONITY
  Plus’ package (£11.30 per month) provides access to a preferential
  rate of just £0.26 per kWh, saving drivers £0.43 per kWh compared to
  the pay-as-you-go rate when using up to 350kW DC charging.<br />
  <br />Customers who purchase a new BMW iX3 vehicle via a BMW Centre
  are eligible for both the ‘bp pulse’ and ‘IONITY Plus’ packages for 12
  months, without subscription fee.<br />
  <br />
  <br />
  <strong>Trailblazing: Digital services and outstanding environmental
  credentials.<br /></strong>BMW assumed a leading role in driving
  forward electric mobility when it unveiled innovative solutions for
  charging at home or on the move alongside the introduction of BMW i3
  in 2013. This trend continues with the BMW iX3, which includes a newly
  developed Flexible Fast Charger cable which can be hooked up to both
  standard domestic and industrial sockets using optional adapters.<br />
  <br />Recharging at home is further enhanced with a personal Wallbox.
  Available through our partner, Smart solutions are also available to
  monitor energy usage and cost, as well as keeping a historic record of
  home-charging energy expenditure, making it very convenient for
  company car users.<br />
  <br />
  <br />
  <strong>BMW Maps</strong>
  <br />The cloud-based BMW Maps navigation system enables route and
  arrival times to be calculated with even greater speed and precision.
  Services already familiar from the BMW i3, such as navigation with
  range display on the map and detailed information on public charging
  stations – covering everything from address, availability and
  connector type through to charging rate and Chargepoint Operator – are
  now joined by additional functionality that can be accessed from the
  car. This capability includes navigation planning with recommendations
  for charging stops, information on points of interest near public
  charging stations and the ability to filter search results by
  fast-charging points.<br />
  <br />The exceptionally efficient drive system, extensive use of
  secondary raw materials in the manufacture of aluminium castings and
  thermoplastics, absence of rare earths and across-the-board use of
  green electricity in production, including the cells for the
  high-voltage battery, are all contributory factors in the impressive
  CO2 assessment for the new BMW iX3.<br />
  <br />During the customer-use phase, the iX3 outperforms the
  diesel-powered BMW X3 xDrive 20d by more than 30 per cent when drawing
  on average European electricity sources or roughly 60 per cent when
  powered by green electricity.<br />
  <br />
  <br />
  <strong>BMW Operating System 7 and BMW Intelligent Personal
  Assistant.<br /></strong>The BMW iX3 is equipped with the latest
  generation BMW Operating System 7, which allows for every line of
  software code in the car to be updated over the air in the future. The
  standard-fit BMW Live Cockpit Professional offers a fully-digital
  screen grouping comprising a high-resolution 12.3-inch instrument
  cluster behind the steering wheel and a 12.3-inch Central Control Display. <br />
  <br />The enhanced intuitive multimodal interaction allows the driver
  to take their pick of control interface for the situation at hand:
  Control Display touchscreen, iDrive Controller, multifunction buttons
  on the steering wheel, voice control or BMW gesture control.<br />
  <br />The latest version of the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant
  takes the connection between driver and car to a new level in the new
  BMW iX3.  Activated by a spoken prompt (for example “Hey BMW”) or at
  the touch of a button, this digital companion acquires new
  capabilities all the time. The system helps the driver, learns their
  preferences and is familiar with their favoured settings – e.g. for
  the seat heating or the places they drive to frequently using the
  navigation system (“Take me home”).<br />
  <br />
  <br />
  <strong>Smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay and Android
  Auto.<br /></strong>BMW Live Cockpit Professional comes with optimised
  smartphone integration; in addition to Apple CarPlay, the new iX3 is
  also compatible with Android Auto.<br />
  <br />The latter enables customers to access digital services such as
  Google Assistant, Google Maps, music streaming services like Spotify
  and Amazon Music, and the WhatsApp messaging service.<br />
  <br />The BMW iX3 M Sport is available to order now from retailers

  <br />
  <strong>BMW iX3 in detail<br />
    <br /></strong>
  <strong>Highly integrated drive system technology.</strong></p>
<p>The highly integrated drive system technology at the heart of the new
  BMW iX3 plays a particularly important role in optimising efficiency
  and power development. The electric motor, transmission and power
  electronics are now arranged together in a single housing. The
  electric motor in the new BMW iX3 works according to the principle of
  a current-excited synchronous motor, without the use of magnets. This
  design eliminates the use of rare earth materials of the motor.</p>
<p>
  <br />The power density of the electric motor in the iX3 is 30 per
  cent greater than that of existing fully-electric vehicles within the
  BMW Group portfolio. The motor is up to 93 per cent efficient,
  compared with under 40 per cent for combustion engines.</p>
<p>
  <br />The new drive system unit generates maximum output of 286 hp and
  peak torque of 295 lb-ft which, unlike many other electric motors, is
  sustained at high revs.</p>
<p>
  <br />The new BMW iX3 sprints from 0 to 62 mph in 6.8 seconds, putting
  it in the same territory as the conventionally powered BMW X3 xDrive30i.</p>
<p>
  <br />Top speed is electronically limited to 112 mph. Sending power to
  the rear wheels creates a characteristic BMW driving experience with
  outstanding traction ensured thanks to the standard-fit ARB technology
  (actuator contiguous wheel slip limitation).</p>
<p>
  <br />Cutting-edge battery-cell technology plays a headline role in
  the latest development stage of high-voltage batteries. The storage
  capacity of the battery has been substantially increased, relative to
  the installation space required and its weight.</p>
<p>
  <br />The gravimetric energy density of the 188 prismatic cells in the
  new BMW iX3 is around    20 per cent higher than that of the battery
  cells used by the BMW Group in its fully-electric vehicles up to now.
  A gross energy content of 80 kWh – of which 74 kWh is utilised – and
  the high efficiency of the drive systems allow the new BMW iX3 to
  offer a range of up to 279 miles (WLTP test cycle).</p>
<p>
  <br />Another technical highlight making its debut in iX3 thanks to
  BMW Group’s fifth-generation eDrive technology is the innovative new
  charging unit, which sends power to both the 400V battery and the 12V
  on-board power supply. When charging using alternating current, it
  enables both single-phase and three-phase charging at up to 11 kW.
  Plugging the vehicle into a direct current rapid-charging station
  opens the door to charging outputs of up to 150 kW, meaning the
  high-voltage battery can be charged from 0 to 80 per cent of its full
  capacity in 34 minutes. Drivers can inject the power required to add
  62 miles to the car’s driving range (in the WLTP cycle) in just 10 minutes.</p>
<p>
  <strong>
    <br />Optimised efficiency enhances capability over long distances.</strong></p>
<p>The outstanding efficiency of its electric motor and its high
  charging capacity give the new BMW iX3 exceptional long-distance capability.</p>
<p>
  <br />On a trip, a BMW iX3 would need to make fewer charging stops
  than a comparable electric vehicle whose efficiency is compromised by
  the presence of larger and heavier high-voltage batteries. And the iX3
  stops would be shorter.</p>
<p>
  <br />Adaptive recuperation enhances efficiency and driving comfort
  during a journey. The intensity of the Brake Energy Regeneration is
  adapted to the road situation using data from the navigation system
  and the driver assistance system sensors.</p>
<p>
  <br />For example, when approaching a junction or a vehicle on the
  road ahead, recuperation is fully utilised. On the open road, the
  coasting function is activated whenever the driver takes their foot
  off the accelerator. As an alternative to adaptive recuperation, in
  driving position D the driver can choose a high, medium or low Brake
  Energy Regeneration setting.</p>
<p>
  <br />Engaging driving position B provides the signature one-pedal
  feeling of BMW Group’s electric vehicles thanks to particularly strong
  recuperation. An enhanced heat pump included as standard on the BMW
  iX3 underscores the efficiency-oriented approach taken to the
  vehicle’s development.</p>
<p>
  <strong>
    <br />Trailblazing: Digital services and outstanding environmental credentials.</strong></p>
<p>BMW assumed a leading role in driving forward electric mobility when
  it unveiled innovative solutions for charging at home or on the move
  alongside the introduction of BMW i3 in 2013. This trend continues
  with the BMW iX3, which includes a newly developed Flexible Fast
  Charger cable which can be hooked up to both standard domestic and
  industrial sockets using optional adapters.</p>
<p>
  <br />Recharging at home is further enhanced with a personal Wallbox.
  Available through our partner, Smart solutions are also available to
  monitor energy usage and cost, as well as keeping a historic record of
  home-charging energy expenditure, making it very convenient for
  company car users.</p>
<p>
  <br />The new cloud-based BMW Maps navigation system enables route and
  arrival times to be calculated with even greater speed and precision.
  Services already familiar from the BMW i3, such as navigation with
  range display on the map and detailed information on public charging
  stations – covering everything from address, availability and
  connector type through to charging rate and Chargepoint Operator – are
  now joined by additional functionality that can be accessed from the
  car. This capability includes navigation planning with recommendations
  for charging stops, information on points of interest near public
  charging stations and the ability to filter search results by
  fast-charging points.</p>
<p>
  CO2 assessment for the new BMW iX3.</p>
<p>
  <br />During the customer-use phase, the iX3 outperforms the
  diesel-powered BMW X3 xDrive 20d by more than 30 per cent when drawing
  on average European electricity sources or roughly 60 per cent when
  powered by green electricity.</p>
<p>
  <strong>
    <br />Proportions and versatility of an SAV, innovative aerodynamic wheels.</strong></p>
<p>The exterior design of the new BMW iX3 displays the typical
  proportions of a Sports Activity Vehicle, which means it provides a
  visual showcase for the robust premium character and all-round talents
  espoused by BMW X models. Model-specific design features optimise the
  car’s aerodynamic properties as well as lending visual expression to
  its sustainability-focused drive concept. The front apron and BMW
  kidney grille have a largely enclosed design, while the rear end has
  also been sculpted with a view to reducing air resistance.</p>
<p>
  <br />Innovative, aerodynamically designed light-alloy wheels help to
  control the flow of air around the vehicle. The aerodynamic wheels
  making their debut on the new BMW iX3 reduce its drag coefficient by
  around 5 per cent over an equivalent vehicle with conventional
  light-alloy wheels. This is achieved with the help of sophisticated
  inserts in the V-spoke base wheel whose surfaces keep the air flowing smoothly.</p>
<p>
  <br />The resulting improvement in efficiency adds around 6 miles to
  the range of the new BMW iX3 (WLTP test cycle). This combines with
  aerodynamic enhancements to the underbody’s rear diffuser and chassis
  strut area, as well as the air flap control system, to give the
  all-electric SAV a drag coefficient (Cd) of 0.29.</p>
<p>
  <strong>
    <br />Premium ambience and BMW IconicSounds Electric in the interior.</strong></p>
<p>Understated blue accents for both the exterior and interior of the
  new BMW iX3 allude to the presence of its electric drive system. The
  clearly structured controls, high-quality materials and stylish
  surfaces combine to create the premium interior ambience associated
  with BMW SAV models. The versatility of the iX3 is confirmed by
  spaciousness on a par with that of conventionally powered BMW X3
  variants. Thanks to the 40:20:40 split/folding rear seat backrest,
  boot capacity can be increased from 510 to a maximum of 1,560 litres.</p>
<p>
  <br />The debut of BMW IconicSounds Electric in the BMW iX3 provides
  acoustic feedback to enrich the electric driving experience by lending
  it added emotional depth. Load changes are signalled by a smoothly
  modulated sound, and recuperation during overrun and braking is
  accompanied by a gently filtered acoustic response, meaning that every
  driving state is accompanied by a matching sound pattern. A newly
  introduced short sound composition, which is the result of a
  collaboration between Hans Zimmer and BMW sound designer Renzo Vitale,
  can be heard when the Start/Stop button is pressed. The drive sound is
  an original work by BMW’s sound designers and acoustic engineers.
  Drive soundtracks from the collaboration with Hans Zimmer will be
  available in electrified BMW models at a later date.</p>
<p>
  <strong>
    <br />BMW Operating System 7 and BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant.</strong></p>
<p>The BMW iX3 is equipped with the latest generation BMW Operating
  System 7, which allows for every line of software code in the car to
  be updated over the air in the future. The standard-fit BMW Live
  Cockpit Professional offers a fully-digital screen grouping comprising
  a high-resolution 12.3 inch instrument cluster behind the steering
  wheel and a 10.25-inch Central Control Display. </p>
<p>
  <br />The enhanced intuitive multimodal interaction allows the driver
  to take their pick of control interface for the situation at hand:
  Control Display touchscreen, iDrive Controller, multifunction buttons
  on the steering wheel, voice control or BMW gesture control.</p>
<p>
  <br />The latest version of the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant
  takes the connection between driver and car to a new level in the new
  BMW iX3.<br />
  <br />Activated by a spoken prompt (for example “Hey BMW”) or at the
  touch of a button, this digital companion acquires new capabilities
  all the time. The system helps the driver, learns their preferences
  and is familiar with their favoured settings – e.g. for the seat
  heating or the places they drive to frequently using the navigation
  system (“Take me home”).</p>
<p>
  <strong>
    <br />Smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.</strong></p>
<p>BMW Live Cockpit Professional comes with optimised smartphone
  integration; in addition to Apple CarPlay, the new iX3 is also
  compatible with Android Auto.<br />
  <br />The latter enables customers to access digital services such as
  Google Assistant, Google Maps, music streaming services like Spotify
  and Amazon Music, and the WhatsApp messaging service.</p>
<p>
  <br />The BMW iX3 Premier Edition is available to order now from
  retailers nationwide, with pricing from £58,850 OTR. The BMW iX3
  Premier Edition Pro is offered from £61,850 OTR. Customers wishing to

The
  BMW iX3 <em>(WLTP combined test cycle: 0.0 l/100 km; electric power
    consumption combined: 19.5 – 18.5 kWh/100 km; CO2 emissions
    combined: 0 g/km)</em> combines emissions-free travel, dynamic
  handling and performance with the comfort, functionality and
  spaciousness that customers would expect of a BMW Sports Activity
  Vehicle (SAV). The iX3 sees the BMW Group pressing ahead with its
  electrified model offensive set out in its NUMBER ONE > NEXT
  corporate strategy. The technological expertise amassed in the
  development of BMW i models is now coming to the fore in a
  fully-electric model from the core BMW brand.</p>
<p>
  <br />The BMW X3 will be the brand’s first model to be available with
  a pure-electric drive system, a plug-in hybrid system or highly
  efficient petrol and diesel engines. This embodies the BMW Group
  “Power of Choice” strategic approach, with the company supporting the
  broad spread of customer requirements and statutory regulations around
  the world.</p>
<p>
  <br />The new BMW iX3 is the result of many years of development work
  in the electric mobility field. The advances achieved since the market
  launch of the BMW i3 in 2013 now culminate in the company’s
  fifth-generation eDrive technology which comprises of a highly
  efficient electric motor, optimised energy density high-voltage
  battery and a high charging capacity. Thanks to the BMW Group’s
  longstanding investment in electric mobility, the use of
  disproportionately large batteries, which have a negative effect on
  vehicle weight, driving dynamics and electric power consumption, has
  been avoided in the development of this vehicle.</p>
<p>
  <strong>
    <br />UK Launch in 2021.</strong></p>
<p>The new BMW iX3 will launch with an exclusive Premier edition for the
  UK market in summer next year. Pricing and standard specification
  details will be revealed in autumn 2020, with pre-ordering opening at
  the same time.<br />
  <br />The iX3 will be launched in some worldwide markets later this
  year. It will be the brand’s first model to be built for export at the
  Shenyang plant in China, which is operated by the joint venture BMW
  Brilliance Automotive.</p>
<p>
  <strong>
    <br />Fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology.</strong></p>
<p>The premiere of the new iX3 marks the introduction of BMW Group’s
  fifth generation eDrive technology. Combining the latest electric
  motor, power electronics, charging technology and high-voltage
  battery, the fifth-generation system demonstrates clear progress in
  its performance characteristics, electric power consumption and range.
  These components, developed in-house by BMW Group, will also be fitted
  in the BMW iNEXT and BMW i4 models from 2021.</p>
<p>
  <br />The new BMW iX3 has been designed for the current requirements
  of the electric vehicle market and with future advances in mind. BMW
  eDrive technology provides an outstanding basis for economically
  sustainable applications in volume production models.</p>
<p>
  <br />The introduction of iX3 is well timed, with the enduring appeal
  of SAV models and rising worldwide demand for all-electric premium cars.</p>
<p>
  <strong>
    <br />Highly integrated drive system technology.</strong></p>
<p>The highly integrated drive system technology at the heart of the new
  BMW iX3 plays a particularly important role in optimising efficiency
  and power development. The electric motor, transmission and power
  electronics are now arranged together in a single housing. The
  electric motor in the new BMW iX3 works according to the principle of
  a current-excited synchronous motor, without the use of magnets. This
  design eliminates the use of rare earth materials of the motor.</p>
<p>
  <br />The power density of the electric motor in the iX3 is 30 per
  cent greater than that of existing fully-electric vehicles within the
  BMW Group portfolio. The motor is up to 93 per cent efficient,
  compared with under 40 per cent for combustion engines. The new drive
  system unit generates maximum output of 286 hp and peak torque of 295
  lb-ft which, unlike with many other electric motors, is sustained at
  high revs. The new BMW iX3 sprints from 0 to 62 mph in 6.8 seconds,
  putting it in the same territory as the conventionally powered BMW X3
  xDrive30i. Top speed is electronically limited to 112 mph. Sending
  power to the rear wheels creates a characteristic BMW driving
  experience with outstanding traction ensured thanks to the
  standard-fit ARB technology (actuator contiguous wheel slip limitation).</p>
<p>
  <br />Cutting-edge battery-cell technology plays a headline role in
  the latest development stage of high-voltage batteries. The storage
  capacity of the battery has been substantially increased, relative to
  the installation space required and its weight. The gravimetric energy
  density of the 188 prismatic cells in the new BMW iX3 is around    20
  per cent higher than that of the battery cells used by the BMW Group
  in its fully-electric vehicles up to now. A gross energy content of 80
  kWh – of which 74 kWh is utilised – and the high efficiency of the
  drive systems allow the new BMW iX3 to offer a range of up to 285
  miles (WLTP test cycle).</p>
<p>
<p>
  <strong>
    <br />Optimised efficiency enhances capability over long distances.</strong></p>
<p>The outstanding efficiency of its electric motor and its high
  charging capacity give the new BMW iX3 exceptional long-distance
  capability. On a trip, a BMW iX3 would need to make fewer charging
  stops than a comparable electric vehicle whose efficiency is
  compromised by the presence of larger and heavier high-voltage
  batteries. And the iX3 stops would be shorter.</p>
<p>
  <br />Adaptive recuperation enhances efficiency and driving comfort
  during a journey. The intensity of the Brake Energy Regeneration is
  adapted to the road situation using data from the navigation system
  and the driver assistance system sensors. For example, when
  approaching a junction or a vehicle on the road ahead, recuperation is
  fully utilised. On the open road, the coasting function is activated
  whenever the driver takes their foot off the accelerator. As an
  alternative to adaptive recuperation, in driving position D the driver
  can choose a high, medium or low Brake Energy Regeneration setting.
  Engaging driving position B provides the signature one-pedal feeling
  of BMW Group’s electric vehicles thanks to particularly strong recuperation.</p>
<p>
  <br />An enhanced heat pump included as standard on the BMW iX3
  underscores the efficiency-oriented approach taken to the vehicle’s development.</p>
<p>
  <strong>
    <br />Sporty handling and supreme traction.</strong></p>
<p>The latest-generation high-voltage battery has a particularly slim
  construction. Positioned low down in the underbody, it has been
  integrated into the SAV’s flexible vehicle architecture. This lowers
  the car’s centre of gravity by around 7.5 centimetres compared with
  its conventionally powered BMW X3 siblings, noticeably enhancing
  lateral dynamics. Among the bespoke elements of the iX3’s chassis
  construction is a rear axle subframe, which provides the required
  space for the drive system unit. The standard adaptive suspension
  includes electronically controlled dampers, with characteristics that
  adapt to the road surface at any given time. This enables carefully
  judged optimisation of the car’s ride comfort and dynamics. The
  alternative Adaptive M suspension is tuned to deliver an even sportier
  damper response.</p>
<p>
  <br />The instant power development of the electric motor and
  chassis-specific tuning infuse the new BMW iX3 with sporty, agile
  driving attributes. The innovative ARB traction system, introduced in
  the BMW i3, and a high level of directional stability ensure good
  traction in adverse weather conditions and on loose ground for a
  Sports Activity Vehicle with a single-driven axle.</p>
<p>
  <strong>
<p>
  <br />Recharging at home is further enhanced with a personal Wallbox.
  Available through our partner, Smart solutions are also possible to
  monitor energy usage and cost, as well as keeping a historic record of
  home-charging energy expenditure, making it very convenient for
  company car users.</p>
<p>
<p>
  CO2 assessment for the new BMW iX3. During the customer use phase, the
  iX3 outperforms the diesel-powered BMW X3 xDrive 20d by more than 30
  per cent when drawing on average European electricity sources or
  roughly 60 per cent when powered by green electricity.</p>
<p>
  <strong>
Model-specific design features optimise the
  car’s aerodynamic properties at the same time as lending visual
  expression to its sustainability-focused drive concept. The front
  apron and BMW kidney grille have a largely enclosed design, while the
  rear end has also been sculpted with a view to reducing air resistance.</p>
<p>
This is achieved with the help of sophisticated
  inserts in the V-spoke base wheel whose surfaces keep the air flowing
  smoothly. The resulting improvement in efficiency adds around 6 miles
  to the range of the new BMW iX3 (WLTP test cycle).</p>
<p>
  <br />This combines with aerodynamic enhancements to the underbody’s
  rear diffuser and chassis strut area, as well as with the air flap
  control system, to give the all-electric SAV a drag coefficient (Cd)
  of 0.29.</p>
<p>
  <strong>
The versatility of the iX3 is confirmed by
  spaciousness on a par with that of conventionally powered BMW X3
  variants. Thanks to the 40 : 20 : 40 split/folding rear seat backrest,
  boot capacity can be increased from 510 to a maximum of 1,560 litres.</p>
<p>
<p>
  <strong>
    <br />BMW Operating System 7 and BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant.</strong></p>
<p>The BMW iX3 is equipped with the latest generation BMW Operating
  System 7, which allows for every line of software code in the car to
  be updated over the air in the future.</p>
<p>
  <br />The standard-fit BMW Live Cockpit Professional offers a
  fully-digital screen grouping comprising a high-resolution 12.3 inch
  instrument cluster behind the steering wheel and a 10.25-inch Central
  Control Display. </p>
<p>
  <br />The enhanced intuitive multimodal interaction allows the driver
  to take their pick of control interface for the situation at hand:
  Control Display touchscreen, iDrive Controller, multifunction buttons
  on the steering wheel, voice control or BMW gesture control.</p>
<p>
The system helps the driver, learns their
  preferences and is familiar with their favoured settings – e.g. for
  the seat heating or the places they drive to frequently using the
  navigation system (“Take me home”).</p>
<p>
  <strong>
    <br />Smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.</strong></p>
<p>BMW Live Cockpit Professional comes with optimised smartphone
  integration; in addition to Apple CarPlay, the new iX3 is also
  compatible with Android Auto. The latter enables customers to access
  digital services such as Google Assistant, Google Maps, music
  streaming services like Spotify and Amazon Music, and the WhatsApp
  messaging service.</p>
<p>

    by BMW headquarters in Germany. No adaptations have been made to
    cater for the UK market.</strong></p>
<p>
  <strong>Munich/Shenyang.</strong> The BMW Group is systematically
  pursuing its electrification strategy and will release the new BMW iX3
  onto the market by the end of 2020. Standard production of the BMW
  core brand’s first pure electric model will get underway at the BMW
  Brilliance Automotive joint venture (BBA) in China in late summer as
  planned: BBA Plant Dadong will produce the first Sports Activity
  Vehicle (SAV) with a pure electric drive train for the global market.
  The first of these electric vehicles will be delivered to customers by
  the end of the year.</p>
<p>The testing required for homologation of the new BMW iX3 has now been
  successfully completed and the results submitted to the regulatory
  authorities in key automotive markets. “This is the first time we have
  completed the entire homologation process for a fully electric model
  in China and Europe at the same time. The staff on our testing team
  mastered this unique challenge with tremendous dedication and
  efficiency,” said Arno Keller, head of Development BMW iX3. More than
  340 hours of testing, including over 7700 kilometres of test drives,
  had to be completed within four weeks. </p>
<p>Preparations for production of the BMW iX3 were stepped up in
  Shenyang in parallel. BBA has been building BMW iX3 pre-production
  vehicles at Plant Dadong in Shenyang since the middle of last year.
  The 200th pre-production model recently came off the assembly line and
  test drives on Chinese roads began – allowing development and test
  engineers to make final adjustments.</p>
<p>“We are right on schedule with our BMW iX3 pre-production vehicles
  and will launch standard production in late summer, using
  state-of-the-art technologies such as custom installation of the new
  high-voltage battery and artificial intelligence for monitoring
  parts,” explained Robert Küssel, BBA Plant Director Dadong. “We are
  also producing the fully-electric BMW iX3 and the BMW X3 with
  combustion engine on the same production line. This enables us to
  achieve high efficiency and flexibility in production,” Küssel continued.</p>
<p>With the new BMW iX3, the BMW Group is adding another fully-electric
  vehicle to its portfolio that will not only tap into new customer
  groups, but also arrives on the market at a time when demand for
  electric vehicles is expanding significantly. The electric car is
  based on the globally successful BMW X3 and combines the versatility
  and robust functionality of a premium mid-size Sports Activity Vehicle
  with ground-breaking drive technology for locally emission-free
  driving pleasure. The BMW X3 is the brand’s first model available with
  both conventional petrol and diesel engines, a plug-in hybrid system
  or a pure electric drive train. This “Power of Choice” approach allows
  the company to respond to the different needs and wants of its
  customers worldwide and maximise its impact in reducing global CO2 emissions.</p>
<p>The BMW iX3 already comes with fifth-generation BMW eDrive
  technology, including a drive unit with the electric engine, power
  electronics and transmission highly integrated into a central housing.
  This significantly reduces the installation space and mass of the
  drive technology relative to output and offers added flexibility for
  installing new electric powertrain components in different vehicle
  derivatives. A further highlight is the electric motor, which no
  longer requires the use of rare earths and ensures the BMW Group is
  not depend on their availability.</p>
<p>The fifth-generation electric drive train also includes new and more
  powerful high-voltage batteries. Thanks to their scalable, modular
  design, these can be used flexibly in the respective vehicle
  architecture and at the respective production locations.</p>
<p>With a range of around 440 kilometres in the WLTP test cycle
  (preliminary data), the BMW iX3 paves the way for BMW eDrive
  technology, which will also be used in BMW i4 and BMW iNEXT models
  from 2021 on.</p>
