The fully electric MINI Cooper - which has already been awarded 5 stars in the Euro NCAP crash testing in March 2025 - has once again received outstanding recognition from the esteemed Euro NCAP institute: the "Best in Class for Safest City & Supermini of the Year 2025." This prestigious award emphasises MINI's leading position in safety within the premium small car segment. With its three variants - MINI Cooper E, MINI Cooper SE, and MINI John Cooper Works Electric - the model impresses not only with its electric drive technology and characteristic go-kart feeling, but also with its comprehensive standard safety equipment.

Jean-Philippe Parain, Head of the MINI brand, emphasises: “We are very pleased about yet another accolade for the MINI Cooper Electric, which has just won the Euro NCAP Best in Class. This award is another compelling confirmation that MINI models offer outstanding safety. The MINI Cooper, as well as the MINI Countryman and MINI Aceman, have been rated with the maximum number of stars. This underlines our commitment to ensuring both driving pleasure and maximum safety standards.”

Euro NCAP praises the consistent advancement in occupant protection, active and passive safety systems, as well as innovative driver assistance technologies that make urban driving safer. The fully electric MINI Cooper features an integrated safety concept with comprehensive occupant protection, standard pelvic seatbelt pretensioners, and a wide range of assistance systems to prevent accidents.

Protection of pedestrians and cyclists also achieves a very high score for this vehicle class, tallying 77 percent in the 2025 Euro NCAP crash test. Safety ratings are also outstanding with 89 percent in occupant protection, 87 percent in child safety, and 79 percent in safety assist systems.

The combination of top-level safety, driving enjoyment, and iconic design makes the second generation of the fully electric MINI Cooper the ideal vehicle for today’s demands of urban mobility.

Combining MINI's distinctive appearance with Paul Smith's remarkable design language, the new MINI Paul Smith Edition marks the next step in the successful collaboration between two British icons.

A partnership grounded in shared values of craftsmanship, creativity and innovation, the new MINI Paul Smith Edition follows in the footsteps of the original Paul Smith Classic Mini from 1998, the MINI STRIP in 2021 and the MINI Recharged by Paul Smith from 2022.

Launching first with the MINI Cooper Electric and closely followed by the MINI Cooper 3-Door, 5-Door and Cooper Convertible, the British designer onboards his design language mantra ‘classic with a twist’ to the latest MINI Paul Smith Edition. The MINI Paul Smith Edition will celebrate its world premiere at the Japan Mobility Show on 29 October 2025.

Speaking on the introduction of the new MINI Paul Smith Edition, Sir Paul Smith comments “It’s not often that you see two icons of British design work together in this way and it’s wonderful that our partnership has carried on over so many years. The MINI Paul Smith Edition has been a real privilege and a wonderful opportunity… new colours and new unexpected details will be a welcomed surprise.”

The new MINI Paul Smith Edition showcases the familiar MINI design language with an influx of Paul Smith styling details throughout both the exterior and interior, bringing together the shared history of MINI and Paul Smith into the present day.

Holger Hampf, Head of MINI Design, comments “MINI and Paul Smith embody a shared mindset of positivity, embracing the motto of this edition: ‘Every day is a new beginning.’ Our collaboration celebrates a mutual love for design and meticulous attention to detail. Unexpected elements such as the ‘hello’ projection on the ground and Paul Smith’s handwritten inscription bring a smile to your face right upon entering the car.”

Familiar MINI exterior design with a further British twist:
The new MINI Paul Smith Edition is offered with three exterior paint choices – two of which are introduced exclusively for this edition. Statement Grey is a modern interpretation of the classic Mini Austin Seven colour from 1959 – a clear, bluish-tinted grey shade – while Inspired White is a contemporary homage to the popular Classic Mini Beige shade. The final paint colour, Midnight Black, can already be specified accross the MINI Family.

Two roof variants - a specially created Nottingham Green (a homage to Sir Paul’s birthplace) or Jet Black – characterise the edition, alongside Nottingham Green wing mirror caps and bordering to the octagonal front grille. To further compliment the roof, a Paul Smith ‘Signature Stripe’ can be found for those who chose the Nottingham Green option, and for Jet Black customers, elegant gloss and matt black stripes.

Other exterior details include a handwritten Sir Paul Smith ‘hello’ puddle light projected from the door mirrors and signature on the rear of the model, while the MINI logo has been given a newly designed Black/Blue colour combination for this Edition. 18-inch Night Spoke alloy wheels in Dark Steel complete with Nottingham Green centre caps displaying Paul Smith lettering complete the exterior design of this Edition.

Thoughtful signature styling: Inside the MINI Paul Smith Edition.
Moving inside, there are numerous Paul Smith details throughout. Upon entering the car, the driver and front passenger will be greeted with Smith’s handwritten motto ‘Everyday is a new beginning’ on the door sills, while a graphic of a hand-drawn rabbit by Paul Smith can be found on the front floormat.

The familiar knitted dashboard and door panels of the MINI Cooper have been tweaked to include Paul Smith tone-on-tone striped patterns to add a subtle, yet striking addition to the interior.

The steering wheel showcases the same Black/Blue coloured MINI logo, while the bottom of the steering wheel sits the iconic Paul Smith ‘Signature Stripe’ alongside the Paul Smith wordmark.

Vescin sports seats - finished in Nightshade Blue - showcase the familiar Paul Smith stripes spread across the top of the seats with a stitched Paul Smith logo and blue stitching which can be found across the seats and steering wheel.

Further key touchpoints inside the Edition such as door handles, speaker grilles, steering wheel surrounds and cup holders, are all finished in Dark Steel, bringing together the hero colour palette of the new MINI Paul Smith Edition.

A history of MINI and Paul Smith.
As familiar collaborators, this partnership has always been a tribute to creative expression and individuality, perfectly embodying the essence and character of both brands. The joint creative success story began in 1998, when the designer created a limited edition of the classic Mini: a specially created “Paul Smith Blue” colour and matching anthracite-coloured alloy wheels lent the iconic model the signature of Paul Smith.

In 1999, as a celebration of the 40^th birthday for the classic Mini, a one-off example was dipped in Sir Paul's characteristic stripe design, showcasing 86 stripes in 26 colours and remains a key visual cue for the Paul Smith brand.

In 2021, MINI celebrated the world premiere of the MINI STRIP, a custom-made, one-off model co-created by Paul Smith and MINI, shining the spotlight on sustainability in automotive design and manufacturing. The joint design process applied the principles of maximum reduction, to produce a minimalist, high-class design with a fresh and unconventional appeal.

Most recently in 2022, the British designer converted his classic Mini from the 1998 collaboration and reinvented the model by installing an electric motor to replace the combustion powered engine. The customised car was a part of the MINI Recharged project, which celebrated the fusion of tradition with pioneering technology,

Paul Smith MINI Collection:
Creativity flows in both directions - Paul Smith finds inspiration in MINI, just as MINI looks to the designer for cues in exclusive pieces in his collections. To celebrate the launch of the latest edition, Paul Smith will debut a collection of capsule bags, inspired by key details from the latest MINI collaboration.

The Paul Smith Edition will be priced from £32,705 OTR, with first customer deliveries expected in Spring 2026. The edition will make its world premiere at the Japan Mobility Show on 29 October 2025.

Munich. With deep respect for craftsmanship, culture, and the communities that shape them, the partnership between MINI John Cooper Works and Deus Ex Machina comes to life through two customised one-off cars - rolling expressions of a lifestyle where a love of speed meets creativity and considered design. Built not just for performance, but for the people who live and breathe it.

“MINI models have always been characterized by a blend of creative design and motorsport dynamics,’ explains Stefan Richmann, Head of MINI. “Thanks to our collaboration with Deus Ex Machina, we are taking this philosophy to a new level and setting exciting new trends for fans and motorsport enthusiasts. The partners are united by their “passion for machines, innovation and creativity” and an authentic relationship with their own community,” says Stefan Richmann.

Purist, functional and graphic design approach.
Both vehicle concepts are based on a MINI John Cooper Works model: the first, a MINI JCW Electric with up to 190 kW/258 hp, the second, a combustion engine-powered MINI JCW with 170 kW/231 hp. Each vehicles roof features a large white ‘X’, a connecting element, which signals a significant design and co-creation: the co-creation process between two iconic brands in their own right: MINI JCW x DEUS.

"In this extraordinary collaboration, we showcase two vehicles that remind us of motorsport history and successes of MINI. Every single detail has been crafted with artisanal precision and expertise. This has resulted in unique characters that are clearly perceived as belonging together through their distinctive design language and use of graphics," says Holger Hampf, Head of MINI Design.

Visible seams, striking switches and traditional levers emphasise the mechanical character of the cockpits. The materials and colours utilised throughout the vehicles create bold contrasts: a deliberate break with high gloss. Instead of perfection, authenticity is at the forefront: designers speak of a ‘raw, handcrafted approach’ that celebrates the ‘beauty of imperfection’. On the exterior, expressive graphics consisting of numbers, geometric elements and bright colours pay homage to MINIs racing history.

The MINI JCW X DEUS one-off cars.
Built as a pair - kindred in spirit, opposite in energy. One born of the coast: shaped by surfboards, sea spray, and the stripped-back rhythm of beach life. The other is forged on the track: lean, fast, and fuelled by a love of speed and precision.

The Skeg – sleek, electric, coast-bound.
The electric powered show car ‘The Skeg’ is a clean, minimal and quiet rebellion, drawing on materials, technologies and philosophies from the world of surfing: Fiberglass, acceleration and minimalism.

The vehicles bodywork lands a bold first impression in a vivid yellow and silver finish - a nod to MINI’s progressive take on electric mobility. Wide fenders, an illuminated front grille, and a roof spoiler sharpen the silhouette, while semi-transparent fiberglass panels strip 15% of the car’s weight and refine its aerodynamic performance.
At the rear, the Flex Tip Surf Spoiler responds to airflow much like a surfboard rides the contours of a wave. Its form draws from the concave underside of a board, redirecting movement, generating lift, and turning design into function.

Tension straps across the roof reference the familiar ritual of tying down a surfboard after a session, while remaining a characteristic design detail of the new MINI family, featured as an accent on the dashboard and in the 6 o'clock spoke of the steering wheel.

Custom-made fiberglass elements on the roof, front, rear, and interior create a shifting play of light: translucent, strong, and responsive to time of day and environment, while the dashboard itself borrows directly from surfboard construction: lightweight, resilient, and visually distinctive.

The Interior.
Inside, the analogue controls are stripped back - simple, tactile, and true to purpose, reflecting a surf culture that prioritises purpose over polish.

The car resembles a mobile surf shop. An example of the thoughtful functionality is the fiberglass trays for wetsuits. The specially shaped shelves provide a practical storage solution and bring the surf culture into the interior. The neoprene upholstery in the lightweight racing bucket seats – flexible, water-repellent, and comfortable – also creates a tactile connection to surfing.

The fiberglass dashboard transfers the technology of surfboard construction into the automotive sector.

The oversized ‘X’ returns as a visual anchor, while Deus Collection badges and 3D-printed details in the console serve as subtle signifiers of a shared culture - one grounded in craft, connection, and the pursuit of the ride.

The Machina - loud, low, combustion-fed.
The Machina, a John Cooper Works that packs a compact punch of raw mechanics and motorsport bloodline. Inspired by the aesthetics of motorsport, it stands for pure racing enthusiasm and authentic functionality.

The exterior: signature elements with links to the racing scene.
The exterior design pays homage to the motorsport heritage of the MINI brand. Every characteristic feature has been carefully selected with a focus on functionality and emotional appeal.

The red, white and black paintwork, complete with bold accents and Deus lettering on the rear, makes an immediate impression. Classic widened fenders nod to racing heritage, blending form and function, while four additional headlights mounted on the bonnet pay tribute to rally sport roots. Each custom-built light pod features subtle Deus branding, offering both performance and a distinctive visual signature.

At the rear, the diffuser draws inspiration from the MINI JCW race car that tore through the legendary Nordschleife. Beyond its aggressive stance, it’s designed to optimise airflow and stability, with the centrally integrated exhaust serving as both a functional and aesthetic focal point, amplifying the engine’s sound and presence.

Up front, a bespoke grille and perforated headlight surrounds enhance cooling performance, while the iconic MINI John Cooper Works light signature, complete with air intakes, anchors the car firmly in MINI’s high-performance lineage. Topping it off is a Can-Am-style rear spoiler: a bold piece of motorsport nostalgia that nods to an era when innovation in racing pushed both design and engineering to the edge.

The Interior.
Inside the JCW show car, the red, white and black palette holds strong - pared-back, purposeful, and unmistakably John Cooper Works. The 5-point racing harnesses secure the driver, and ultimately become part of the driving experience, wrapping the body in precision.

Raw aluminium floor plates offer more than grip, rather they echo the utilitarian aesthetic found in Deus’ custom motorcycle workshops from Sydney to Venice Beach to Canggu, grounding the car in a shared language of performance and craft.

Weight-saving is built into every surface, from the stripped-back door panels marked with bold white ‘X’ motifs, to the waxed fabric dash - lightweight, durable, and finished with a lived-in patina that speaks to hands-on workmanship. Overhead, the exposed roll cage adds structure and statement in equal measure - a safety feature that nods to the car’s unfiltered racing DNA.

The show car's controls speak a clear language of functionality and directness. Every switch and every button is designed to function intuitively and reliably, even under extreme conditions.

Toggle switches are classic elements – no complex menus, just direct, mechanical connections between thought and action. Each button has a clear function. A classic example, the hydraulic handbrake with its large lever, acting as a direct connection between driver and vehicle - a commitment to precision and control. The JCW show car is a driving manifesto and a tribute to the motorsport DNA of the MINI brand.

Concentrated creativity for two extraordinary designer pieces.
Alongside the MINI creative team, Deus’ Creative Director, Carby Tuckwell and his wider creative cohort oversaw the striking exterior graphics of the two show cars - led by Matt Willey - complimented the work of Designworks - an outcome that truly reflects extraordinary design dynamics and remarkable solutions across the two vehicles.

Deus x Matt Willey: The fascination of historic racing.
Deus’ Carby Tuckwell and Matt Willey have been working together since 2015. United by their fascination with classic motorsport liveries, they created a historic Mini Cooper S racing car in 2022 with a special paint finish designed by Willey. The design references the glorious and victorious history of the classic Mini at the Monte Carlo Rally, including the number 37, with which Paddy Hopkirk started in 1964 and achieved the British small car's first overall victory in the most famous of all rallies.

Matt Willey, a native of England who lives in Brooklyn, became a partner at the renowned design firm Pentagram after five years as art director of the New York Times Magazine.

A Shared Vision Becomes Fabric.
Woven into the partnership is a capsule MINI x Deus Ex Machina apparel collection, set to launch on September 8, 2025, at IAA in Munich, before becoming available globally via Deus Ex Machina’s e-commerce and retail network. Designed exclusively for the collaboration, the range draws on the shared DNA of both brands - precision engineering, timeless styling, and obsessive attention to detail. High-grade materials and thoughtful tailoring provide the benchmark for the range, with every garment reflecting Deus’ commitment to craftsmanship and its reputation for creating apparel that moves between lifestyle and legacy. At the IAA Mobility in Munich from 9 to 14 September, MINI will transform the city into its own stage at two well-known locations: an impressive Open Space at Max-Joseph-Platz, and a central brand appearance in the MINI Pavillion at Lenbachplatz, presenting MINI’s brand DNA at the world's largest mobility event. The highlight is the world premiere of two exclusive JCW showcars, created as part of an exciting collaboration.

MINI Pavillion: MINI unveils exclusive JCW showcars.
MINI's racing background is not only evident from its recent success at the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring: motorsport has been part of the brand's essence from the very beginning. As part of the IAA, two unique MINI John Cooper Works showcars are celebrating their world premiere, the result of an inspiring collaboration.

For the duration of the IAA, the MINI Pavillion puts the models centre stage in a spectacular display. The showcars, which combine the brand's unmistakable racing enthusiasm with the spirit of a world-famous lifestyle brand, can be admired at Lenbachplatz. For this, the MINI Pavillion will be extensively remodeled, and dedicated entirely to the John Cooper Works brand.

MINI at Open Space: Heritage and humour at Max-Joseph-Platz.
A metropolis within a metropolis: With its appearance at the Open Space, MINI brings the vibrant city centre of London to the noble Max-Joseph-Platz in Munich's old town. An elaborately staged backdrop recreates the heart of the city and presents the brand’s British identity, including its humour in many details.

With the Bayerische Staatsoper and the Residenztheater in the background, the focus of Open Space is the all-electric models of the new MINI family, the high-performance MINI John Cooper Works Electric, MINI Service and MINI Experience Modes. 

With the MINI John Cooper Works Electric, MINI Aceman SE and MINI Countryman SE ALL 4, visitors will be able to experience three all-electric MINI models up close. Max-Joseph-Platz is also the starting point for test drives in cooperation with SIXT: true to the motto "Only MINI Can Do", visitors can take all-electric MINIs from the new MINI family out onto the city's streets from here.

MINI at the IAA: Community Day unites fans of the brand.
Fans of MINI can also become part of the IAA Mobility this year: at the "Community Day" on 13 September, MINI clubs will come together for a drive with their personal MINIs. Starting at Gut Kaltenbrunn on Lake Tegernsee, the route leads through Munich and ends with an inspiring get-together with music, BBQ and dialogue with the community in the MINI Pavillion.

The IAA: a platform for experts and enthusiasts.
As one of the largest and most important international automotive trade fairs, the International Motor Show (IAA) offers manufacturers, journalists and other enthusiasts a platform for dialogue on the topics of mobility, innovation and technology every two years. The IAA Mobility 2025 is organised under the slogan "It's All About Mobility". As part of the event, innovations and concepts will be presented in four formats - at the IAA Summit, the IAA Conference, the IAA Open Space and the IAA Experience - as well as at MINI in the MINI Pavillion at Lenbachplatz. Over half a million visitors were counted at the last IAA 2023 in Munich.

MINI is excited to announce the new MINI Cooper Electric Monochrome & MINI Aceman Monochrome, available on E derivatives of both models. Offered in a fixed specification, customers can choose between Midnight Black or Nanuq White exterior paintwork, alongside an increased level of standard features across the models including MINI Navigation with Head-Up Display, Wireless Charging and LED Headlights.

Alongside the choice of two colours, both models come with larger wheels as standard; 17” U Spoke Grey alloys on the MINI Cooper Electric Monochrome and 18” Night Flash Spoke Grey alloys on the MINI Aceman Monochrome. Both models also feature a body-coloured roof, creating a seamless look that enhances the overall style of the vehicle.

Moving inside the cabin, a new Anthracite headliner accompanies a brand-new interior pattern debuting on MINI Monochrome models. The new multitone fabric spreads across the front and rear seats, which also feature white and yellow stitching to match the design. The dashboard is draped in a black cloth textile, with the new multitone fabric featuring on the dashboard strap to continue the design throughout the cabin.

Customers benefit from MINI Navigation with Head-Up Display as standard, controlled using the 24cm circular screen, alongside Cruise Control (DCC), Driving Assistant, Parking Assistant and Rear-View Camera. Wireless Charging is also offered, alongside Heated Front Seats and MINI Experience Modes, allowing customers to change the characteristics of the car or cabin based on their mood.

The MINI Cooper Electric Monochrome features a 40.7 kWh battery, providing a range of up to 189 miles*, while the MINI Aceman Monochrome has a larger 42.5 kWh battery which offers an improved range of 192 miles*. Both models support fast DC 75 kW charging for added convenience.

The MINI Cooper Electric Monochrome and MINI Aceman Monochrome are available to order from retailers nationwide now from £26,905 OTR and £28,905 OTR respectively.

Munich. The aim of the Euro NCAP tests is to continuously increase vehicle safety. Both vehicle occupants and other road users should be exposed to an ever-decreasing risk of injury. The long-term intention: "Vision Zero" - that is, zero road fatalities in Europe. Accordingly, the requirements in the tests become stricter year after year. The criteria for the protection of pedestrians and cyclists have been tightened, and the test scenarios for both passive and active safety have been expanded.

A top rating of 5 stars is not common in the segment of fully electric MINI Cooper models. Particularly new vehicles in this category often come up short due to price sensitivity - accordingly, the top rating is awarded rather rarely.

The Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Programme) ratings are a Europe-wide recognised standard for accident safety and are constantly being adapted. They provide a quickly comprehensible comparison of the safety features of a new vehicle. The award of the top rating of 5 stars is exclusively given to new vehicles that provide excellent impact protection and, in addition, a good range of comprehensive and practical technology for accident avoidance.

Excellent: Top rating from Euro NCAP for the electric MINI Cooper models.
The electrically powered MINI Cooper models impress with their performance, the comfortable spaciousness despite compact dimensions, and the new minimalist design. Thanks to the fully electric drivetrain, the legendary go-kart feeling, and the now certified high level of safety, the fifth generation of the charismatic three-door model is perfectly equipped for the demands of today's urban mobility. The combination of sheer driving fun and a high level of safety underscores the exceptional position of the MINI Cooper Electric models in their segment and at the same time the premium claim of the brand.

In addition to passive and active safety, the top rating in the current Euro NCAP test is also due to effective protection for pedestrians and cyclists, as well as effective systems for accident avoidance. New is the standard pelvic belt pretensioner in all fully electric MINI Cooper models, too.

In the four major safety areas, the MINI models achieve top values for their segment. In terms of occupant protection, the three-door model achieves a safety compliance rate of 89% - a value that is usually reserved for larger vehicle classes.

This also applies to the 87% in child safety and the 79% in safety assistants. With 77% in pedestrian protection a very high level of safety I also achieved for compact cars.

The extensive standard equipment with safety-relevant driver assistance systems also plays a decisive role in the top ratings. The passive safety has been further developed in the form of an integrated safety concept.

As early as December 2024, the new MINI Countryman achieved the top rating of 5 stars, underscoring the brand's claim not only to produce extremely attractive, but also particularly safe vehicles.

The powerful electric drives open a new chapter in the brand's long history and demonstrate its ongoing commitment to performance and innovation. The MINI John Cooper Works Electric and the MINI John Cooper Works Aceman: Electric high performance in a new dimension.
The vehicle architecture of the fully electric MINI models is perfectly suited for the brand's consistently performance-oriented character. The MINI John Cooper Works Electric (combined power consumption: 15.6-15.3 kWh/100 km according to WLTP; combined CO2 emissions: 0 g/km; range in km according to WLTP: 371 - 363) and the MINI John Cooper Works Aceman (combined power consumption: 16.4-16.0 kWh/100 km according to WLTP; combined CO2 emissions: 0 g/km; range in km according to WLTP: 355 - 344) have up to 190 kW/258 hp and 350 Nm of instantly available system torque. Both models provide an additional 20 kW of motor power via an electric boost function, allowing for particularly dynamic acceleration. The JCW-specific suspension tuning maximizes the typical MINI go-kart feeling and guarantees agile handling. High-performance tires are part of the standard equipment of both models.

Exclusive equipment details emphasize the emotional connection to the brand's traditional motorsport heritage. These include the red-white-black John Cooper Works logo in the style of a checkered flag from motorsports, as well as a JCW-specific Multitone Roof with a red-black color gradient. Black side skirts, model-specific aeroblades at the C-pillar, and the accentuated rear spoiler optimize the aerodynamics for increased range. The three-door MINI John Cooper Works Electric achieves 371 kilometers, while the five-door MINI John Cooper Works Aceman can drive up to 355 kilometers on a single battery charge.

MINI John Cooper Works and MINI John Cooper Works Convertible: Legendary go-kart feeling with powerful acceleration.
A four-cylinder TwinPower Turbo engine with a displacement of two liters, 170 kW/231 hp, and 380 Nm of torque offers maximum driving fun and top performance in both the MINI John Cooper Works (combined fuel consumption: 6.8 - 6.5 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 154 - 147 g/km according to WLTP) and the MINI John Cooper Works Convertible (combined fuel consumption: 7.1 - 6.8 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 161 - 155 g/km according to WLTP). The sportily tuned dual-clutch automatic transmission translates the engine power into particularly dynamic gear changes. The MINI John Cooper Works takes 6.1 seconds and the MINI John Cooper Works Convertible 6.4 seconds to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h. The top speed of the MINI John Cooper Works is 250 km/h, the MINI John Cooper Works Convertible reaches 245 km/h. For boundless open-air driving pleasure, the softtop of the Convertible can be fully retracted in just 18 seconds at speeds of up to 30 km/h.

The large octagonal high-gloss black front grille with wide air vents for efficient engine cooling and the modern JCW logo dominates the front view of both models. Red-colored inserts in the side air inlets on the front apron underscore the motorsport-oriented design for maximum performance. In the center of the black rear diffuser, the centrally positioned tailpipe emphasizes the character of the two top athletes.

MINI John Cooper Works Countryman ALL4:
Extraordinary driving fun on any terrain.
As the largest model, the MINI John Cooper Works Countryman with ALL4 all-wheel drive (combined fuel consumption: 8.3 - 7.8 l/100 km according to WLTP; combined CO2 emissions: 187-177 g/km) stands for a unique combination of style, power, and adventurous spirit. The powerful engine delivers 221 kW/300 HP of power, 400 Nm of maximum torque, and a top speed of 250 km/h, making the appearance of MINI's spacious multi-talent particularly emotional.

This performance is also reflected in the powerful appearance of the MINI John Cooper Works Countryman ALL4. In the front view, aerodynamic elements with red reflectors emphasize the wide stance, while at the rear of the vehicle, vertical taillights with the John Cooper Works Signature Mode frame the upright body. Advanced assistance systems support the driver through progressive technologies. For the first time, the MINI Countryman offers partially automated Level 2 driving on highway-like routes, providing additional comfort.

Puristic Interior with motorsport accents.
The clear design of the interior in the new MINI John Cooper Works models is characterized by JCW-specific equipment details in red and black. The black JCW sports steering wheel with red decorative stitching and a six o'clock spoke made of black and red fabric provides excellent grip. The JCW sports seats offer secure support during dynamic driving. The combination of black leatherette with multi-colored knitted material in the shoulder area and red accent stitching picks up the color pattern of the knitted surface of the dashboard. In all MINI John Cooper Works models, the brilliant sound of the exclusive Harman Kardon sound system enhances the driving experience as standard.

Advanced technology for maximum and comfortable driving pleasure.
The JCW-specific go-kart mode expands the selection options of the MINI Experience Modes in the vehicles of the new MINI John Cooper Works family with additional motorsport flair. The steering is set to a more direct setting, the accelerator pedal responds faster to commands for increased driving fun. Accordingly, the high-resolution OLED display provides additional performance-related data such as torque, power output, and current g-force.

For all MINI John Cooper Works models, the Digital Key Plus provides a convenient digital vehicle key on the smartphone. This allows the vehicle to be comfortably unlocked or locked without having to pick up the smartphone. For the MINI John Cooper Works Electric as well as the MINI John Cooper Works Aceman, the Remote Parking function also offers a convenient option to park and unpark the vehicle via the smartphone.

Long racing tradition with legendary successes.
The history of MINI John Cooper Works dates back to the year 1961. The John Cooper recognized the competitive potential of the classic Mini long before anyone else. By installing a more powerful engine, new brakes, and a more direct steering, he turned the modest small car into a race car that made the giants of the rally scene tremble in the 1960s. BMW and MINI announce an exciting line-up of model updates launching in November, including new BMW 1 Series variants, additional powertrains for the 5 Series Touring, and faster AC charging for select plug-in hybrid models. Meanwhile, MINI will expand personalisation options across its portfolio. Alongside these model enhancements, BMW Group UK has recently received prestigious awards from Carbuyer, Marie Claire, Parkers, The Caravan and Motorhome Club, and What Car? recognising the company and its products across a range of categories.

Introducing a range of BMW model updates from November 2024.
Closely following the launch of the fourth-generation BMW 1 Series, an additional model variant, the 123 xDrive, will join the line-up to bridge the gap between the 120 and range-topping M135 xDrive. This additional all-wheel-drive option is powered by an electrified four-cylinder drive unit featuring 48V mild hybrid technology, resulting in a combined system output of 218 hp. In addition, the BMW M135 xDrive receives an exclusive new M Dynamic Package, bringing additional bracing elements and lightweight construction measures, plus specific chassis components to give the range-topper bespoke performance characteristics.

The line-up of drive systems for the new BMW 5 Series Touring will also be expanded from November, with the introduction of new 520i and 550e xDrive model variants. The introductory BMW 520i Touring mates the latest four-cylinder petrol engine with 48V mild hybrid technology to generate a maximum output of 190 hp and peak torque of 310 Nm. These figures can be raised up to 208 hp and 330 Nm courtesy of the mild hybrid system’s crankshaft-driven starter-generator.

Meanwhile the BMW 550e xDrive, a six-cylinder in-line petrol engine with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology, joins forces with the latest version of BMW eDrive technology for plug-in-hybrid systems. The 3.0-litre engine produces a nominal output of 313 hp at 5,000 – 6,500 rpm and a nominal torque of 450 Nm at 1,750 – 4,700 rpm. The electric motor developed for the hybrid drive system is integrated – together with its power electronics – directly into the eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission and contributes up to 197 hp to the peak system output of 489 hp. The electric motor’s nominal torque of up to 280 Nm is boosted to as much as 450 Nm at the transmission input for the motor with the help of a pregearing stage patented by BMW. With assistance from the BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system, the new BMW 550e xDrive Touring completes the 0-62 mph sprint in just 4.4 seconds.

Finally, all plug-in hybrid versions of the BMW 5 Series, BMW X5 xDrive50e and the new BMW M5 Saloon will benefit from increased AC charging rates. The increase from 7.4 kW to 11 kW enables users to replenish the high-voltage battery of their vehicle in a significantly shorter time. It will now be possible to charge the battery in the BMW X5 xDrive50e from 0 to 100 per cent within three hours, while the 0 to 100 per cent charging times for the BMW M5 and plug-in-hybrid variants of the BMW 5 Series will be reduced by an hour to just 2 hours 15 minutes.

MINI model updates from the tail end of 2024.
From November 2024, MINI will be expanding personalisation options within the Classic, Sport and Exclusive trim structures across the new MINI family. British Racing Green exterior body colour is now available for all vehicles within the MINI family, while Sunnyside Yellow is now additionally offered across all MINI Cooper models.

For customers choosing Sport trim, Blazing Blue exterior body colour is now available on the MINI Countryman, Icy Sunshine Blue on MINI Cooper models, and brand new 17” Sprint Spoke Alloy wheels become standard on all Sport trim, petrol MINI Cooper models.

Classic and Exclusive trims have also been bolstered with additional wheel options. The 17” U-Spoke Dark Grey wheel is now available optionally on all Exclusive trim MINI Cooper vehicles, while the 19” Runway Spoke Black Alloy wheel currently offered on Sport trim for the MINI Countryman is now available in Classic and Exclusive trim also.

BMW 2 Series Coupe crowned ‘Best Sports Car’ at the Carbuyer New Car Awards. 
Remaining undefeated for a third consecutive year, the BMW 2 Series Coupe was crowned ‘Best Sports Car’ at the 2025 Carbuyer New Car Awards. “The BMW 2 Series Coupe is a sleek two-door that serves up BMW’s legendary driving precision in a relatively affordable package. Just as rewarding in entry-level 220i guise as it is in the hot M240i xDrive configuration, which brings searing acceleration and thrilling grip levels," said Carbuyer Editor, Paul Barker. "The 2 Series Coupe is also compact, making it easy to live with, while it boasts an upmarket interior.”

What Car? names the BMW 330e ‘Used Hybrid Car of the Year’.
The What Car? Used Car of the Year awards highlight the best buys on the used car market today, and this year the BMW 330e took the top spot as ‘Used Hybrid Car of the Year’. Commenting on the win, What Car? judges said, “The 330e is great to drive, has a plush interior, a smooth hybrid set-up, an intuitive infotainment system, a good reliability record and it's great value for money when bought at a few years old.”

Triple win at the Parkers New Car Awards.
BMW celebrates success at the recent Parkers New Car Awards, with the BMW i7/7 Series, BMW i4 and BMW 3 Series each topping their respective class.

Praised for its pricing, range and performance, the BMW i7/7 Series was named ‘Best Luxury Car’ for the second consecutive year. On presenting the award, Parkers Editor, Keith Adams said, “If you’re in the market for a luxury car, the all-electric BMW i7 and hybrid 7 Series have all your needs covered beautifully. As you’d expect, both are great to drive, but for those riding in the rear, nothing can touch them at this price point. The i7, in particular, is silently restful, offers a brilliant driving range, quick charging and effortless performance. No wonder it’s two years in a row for this flagship motor.”

Continuing the awards, the BMW i4 reprised its position as ‘Best Company Car’. “The BMW i4 set a new benchmark in the premium car segment when it launched in 2021 and it remains unsurpassed today,” said Adams. Parkers also paid tribute to the model’s desirability, well-equipped specification and noted its “competitive leasing rates, making it an affordable company car choice.”

The third and final BMW to take home a gong was the previous generation BMW 3 Series, celebrated by Parkers as ‘Best Used Car’. After praising its “sharp-suited looks”, driving dynamics and “broad selection of powertrains”, Adams summarised, “Other compact executives are more luxurious, while others are even faster, but none of them is as special as a BMW 3 Series - reason enough to make this a used car we can wholeheartedly recommend.”

Marie Claire honours BMW Group at annual Sustainability Awards.
The Marie Claire Sustainability Awards reward those who demonstrate a commitment to maximum sustainability across a diverse range of industries. At this year’s ceremony, the BMW Group prevailed, securing two awards in the Motors category, which acknowledges companies who are leading the charge in eco-friendly driving.

The first win came from the MINI Countryman, as it was named in the ‘Electric Cars’ sub-class. The model’s sustainable interior materials contributed to the win, with Marie Claire highlighting its dashboard and door panels made from 90 per cent recycled polyester. The vehicle’s manufacturing process played an equal part in this win, with BMW Group Plant Leipzig featuring four on-site wind turbines for energy production and a battery storage farm to ensure surplus energy can be stored and used at a later stage.

BMW Group “is to be commended for adding so much detail to the scrutiny of its various sustainability claims, rather than just adding links to websites, particularly the level of detail around its water management at its global plants – I was taken by the monsoon water being collected in India to provide 100% of plant water requirements,” notes Marie Claire judge, Erin Baker. “I like the fact it is sourcing its critical minerals directly, and that it tracks and traces Scope 3 emissions.”

BMW Group’s second Marie Claire award win was attributed to the introduction of the BMW iX5 Hydrogen pilot fleet – which visited the UK last year.  While a production vehicle won’t be available until 2028, this pilot is an important first step on the road to creating a sustainable alternative to not only traditional fossil fuels, but to battery electric cars too. Marie Claire was particularly impressed by the BMW Group’s “forward-thinking” research into hydrogen fuel cell technology, as well as the iX5 Hydrogen’s zero-local-emissions drive and 313-mile range.

BMW Group UK secures three wins at the What Car? Electric Car Awards.
The What Car? Electric Car Awards pay tribute to the best electrified vehicles currently on sale. At this year’s awards, BMW Group UK triumphed, securing three coveted category wins across its electrified model portfolio.

Combining excellent driving dynamics, sporty elegance and modern functionality, the BMW i5 Touring clinched the award for ‘Best Electric Estate Car’. What Car? judges endorsed the Touring as a “well rounded” estate, while commending the model’s impressive 570-litre boot capacity, “intuitive controls”, “rich mixture of high-quality materials” and the “healthy 335bhp” of the entry-level eDrive40 model variant.

Also praised at the awards was the BMW i7, which secured the accolade for ‘Best Luxury Car’ for the second year running. Commenting on the win, judges said, “As if the petrol-powered BMW 7 Series wasn’t already luxurious enough, the i7 adds the extra quietness that comes only with electric power, taking the sense of tranquillity and relaxation to a whole new level.”

MINI also received recognition from What Car?, with the MINI Cooper SE receiving the award for ‘Best Electric Small Car’. “The new electric Mini Cooper could convince you that the legendary (extremely) small car should have been electric from the beginning,” said What Car?. Judges continued by paying tribute to the hot hatch’s “precise, confidence-inspiring steering”, commendable 0-62mph sprint time (just 6.7 seconds) and its “huge leap” in single-charge range compared to its predecessor.

BMW i5 Touring triumphs at Towcar of the Year 2025.
The annual Caravan and Motorhome Club Towcar of the Year awards are the leisure vehicle industry’s original and longest-standing towcar testing awards and exist to help caravan owners select the car best suited to their individual towing needs.

At the 2025 awards, the BMW i5 eDrive40 M Sport Pro Touring conquered, taking home three awards: first winning the ‘1500kg–1600kg’ caravan weight class, before being named ‘Best Luxury Towcar’ and overall ‘Best Electric Towcar’. Commenting on the win, judges said, “The 5 Series Touring has traditionally been a great towcar and the brand-new electric version (the first-ever electric 5 Series) keeps up the tradition. It’s a luxurious estate car with a wonderful blend of desirable features that bowled over the judges. BMW’s latest interiors offer outstanding tech and fantastic build quality, while there’s loads of space in the back seats and boot. Engaging handling just sealed the deal. It also took the Electric Towcar and Luxury Towcar category wins for its fantastic drive, a claimed solo 324-mile range from its 81.2kWh battery, and plush feel.”

Paris. Parallel to the market launch of the new BMW 1 Series, the new BMW X3 and the new BMW M5, the BMW Group will present the next steps in its unchanged product strategy at the Mondial de l'Auto Paris 2024. The focus is on the world premieres of the first all-electric MINI John Cooper Works models and the first joint motor show appearance of the latest concept studies of the BMW Neue Klasse, which will go into series production in 2025.

The roll-out of electrification to the John Cooper Works brand within MINI transmits another strong signal on how the BMW Group is committed to electric driving as a strategic direction.

At the same time, the Mondial de l'Auto Paris 2024 marks the ideal starting point for intensified communication in the further ramp up for BMW Neue Klasse, due for launch in 2025.

First joint appearance of the BMW Vision Neue Klasse and BMW Vision Neue Klasse X.
BMW is showing two Neue Klasse Vision Vehicles in Paris, which provide an outlook on the wide range of BMW's future model portfolio.
The BMW Vision New Class is a sporty electric sedan for the premium mid-range. The BMW Vision New Class X transfers the philosophy and technology of the future generation of vehicles to the Sports Activity Vehicle segment.

"With the two vision cars for Neue Klasse we are showing how we are going to change the look & feel of the BMW brand. Many aspects of our cars will be completely new and yet we believe that the Neue Klasse will reflect the very essence of the BMW brand", says Adrian van Hooydonk, head of BMW Group Design.

The new BMW iX2 features in-car entertainment highlight UNO® Car Party! And Paramount+.
With UNO® Car Party! in the BMW iX2, the BMW Group is showing the next in-car gaming highlight. Since the end of August 2024, the game has already been available in over 500,000 BMW and MINI vehicles via the AirConsole platform. In addition, it was only at the beginning of October that the BMW Group brought the popular subscription streaming service Paramount+ into the vehicle, offering subscribers access to a wide range of blockbusters, new originals and hit series such as Star Trek Discovery. Customers have access to in-car entertainment highlights in their vehicles with BMW and MINI Operating System 9 in conjunction with BMW Digital Premium or the MINI Connected Package*.

*Paramount+ subscription is not part of BMW Digital Premium/MINI Connected Package.

In addition to the outlook for the BMW Neue Klasse and new digital services, also hydrogen technology is key topic at the Mondial de l'Auto Paris 2024, as a further expression of the BMW Group's open technology drive strategy.

BMW will launch its first hydrogen-powered production model in 2028. 
After successfully testing the BMW iX5 Hydrogen pilot fleet worldwide, the BMW Group is now preparing for series production of vehicles with hydrogen drive systems in 2028. The series production models will be integrated into BMW’s existing portfolio. Hydrogen is recognized as a promising future energy carrier of the future, actingas an effective storage medium for renewable energy sources, helping to balance supply and demand and enabling a more stable and reliable integration of renewables into the energy grid.

Following the rollout of the latest generation MINI family this year, today MINI is building on the success of the MINI Cooper Electric and MINI Aceman models with the introduction of John Cooper Works variants for both cars.

Announced at the Paris Motor Show 2024, the MINI John Cooper Works Electric and MINI John Cooper Works Aceman follow a rich heritage of previous John Cooper Works models and maintain the characteristics worthy of the JCW name, but on fully-electric vehicles for the very first time.

"With the new all-electric MINI John Cooper Works models, we are bringing the legendary performance and driving dynamics of MINI into a completely new era. We are combining the tradition and character of the MINI brand with the latest technology to create a unique driving experience that will thrill our customers”, says Stefan Richmann, Head of MINI.

The MINI John Cooper Works Electric and MINI John Cooper Works Aceman are priced from £39,120 OTR and £40,920 OTR respectively, with first customer deliveries commencing April 2025.

Maximum performance thanks to innovative motorsport technology.
Over six decades ago designer John Cooper developed a sportier version of the classic Mini, becoming an instant success on racetracks and rally courses globally before the name was cemented in history with three victories at the Monte Carlo Rally across the 1960s. John Cooper Works has been transferring this success from the racetrack onto traditional MINI models ever since.

Both cars provide 340Nm of torque from their 54.2kWh batteries and offer a maximum speed of 124mph. The MINI John Cooper Works Electric reaches 62mph in just 5.9 seconds, while the MINI John Cooper Works Aceman accelerates 0-62mph in 6.4 seconds.

Engineers have developed an all-new electric boost function to further enhance power delivery on the new electric John Cooper Works models, giving the driver an additional 20kW of electric motor power once John Cooper Works mode has been activated using a rocker switch on the steering wheel. Using this function, both vehicles achieve 258hp.

New John Cooper Works specific suspension maximises MINI go-kart handling, while high performance grip tyres come as standard on all electric John Cooper Works models to support grounded and agile handling.

Optimised aerodynamics and performance oriented exterior design.
The exterior design of the new John Cooper Works variants builds on the design language of the standard model while showing a more aggressive appearance. The red, white, and black John Cooper Works logo – inspired by the chequered flag of motorsport – offers a nod to racing heritage, while a gloss black trim is standard across the model. Black side skirts, aeroblades at C-pillar level and a rear spoiler optimise aerodynamics, while red vertical reflectors and diffusers contrast with the rear black apron.

Aerodynamically optimised wheel designs in black with red accents are available exclusively for the all-electric models, with 18” for the MINI John Cooper Works Electric and 19” for the MINI John Cooper Works Aceman offered as standard. Chili Red brake callipers sporting a white JCW logo and a Chili Red roof are standard, while a John Cooper Works specific multi-tone black to red roof is available optionally.

Racing-inspired interior.
The black and red JCW colour scheme continues inside the vehicle, where a black and red pattern decorates the knitted surface of the dashboard. The driver and front passenger seats are upholstered in black synthetic leather with multicoloured knitted fabric at the shoulders and red accent stitching, while the ambient interior lighting illuminates the headlining as a JCW model exclusive feature.

The high-resolution 24cm circular OLED display is the heart of the MINI cabin, providing all relevant vehicle data, air conditioning, media, phone, and navigation settings. The new MINI Experience Modes - Vivid, Core, Green, Timeless, Balance, Go Kart and Personal mode - allow the ambience in the interior to be customised to further the personalisation of the cars.

Advanced assistance systems.
Thanks to 12 ultrasonic sensors and four Surround View cameras, the MINI John Cooper Works Electric and MINI John Cooper Works Aceman can identify vacant parking spaces with greater precision, automatically initiating parking manoeuvres where space is limited, while the new Remote Parking function included as part of the Parking Assistant Plus option enables the vehicle to be parked using a smartphone. This functionality enables the vehicle to be driven out of a parking space automatically, making it easier to get into the car if space at the side is too limited.

With MINI Digital Key Plus, owners can utilise their smartphone as a vehicle key for a convenient and personalised experience. Replacing the conventional key, the digital key can be transferred between several users. For a streamlined user experience, as soon as the driver is less than three metres away from the vehicle, the front and rear lights begin a welcome animation, and the doors unlock automatically.

Using augmented reality, complicated turning situations are visualised on the central display as part of the optional MINI Navigation AR package, while additional steering and lane assistance is offered through Driving Assistant Plus.

Quick and easy charging.
The MINI John Cooper Works Aceman and MINI John Cooper Works Electric can be charged via 11 kW AC and up to 95 kW DC, variant dependent, meaning at a fast-charging station, the battery for both models can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in under 30 minutes.

By using MINI Navigation, the vehicle will ensure the high-voltage battery reaches the ideal temperature for efficient charging in advance, thus reducing charging time. Customers can also optimise charging for their schedule, setting charging start times, active charging windows, and target battery capacity by departure time.

The MINI app provides a convenient overview of the vehicle status and charging process, including current battery status, charging-optimised route plans and charging history. Finally, drivers can instruct that the interior cabin is air conditioned by a set departure time.

The MINI Cooper has been announced as The Sun’s Car of the Year 2024 at their annual awards ceremony.

Launched earlier this year, the MINI Cooper was praised for both its innovative in car technology and iconic handling, with Motors Editor, Rob Gill, commenting; “The MINI Cooper is hands-down our favourite new buy from our head and heart. Classier inside and out, with a less is more approach, and that dinner plate-sized touchscreen carries the same cutting-edge tech as a £100k BMW. Mega fun to drive, as it always has been”.

Judges went on to compliment the vehicles UK based manufacturing; “The icing on the cake is that MINI is a homegrown hero. The win builds on a successful year for the brand, launching an entirely new generation of models across the whole MINI family. With clean exterior design, a world-first circular OLED display and innovative new interior materials, the MINI Cooper is the icon reimagined.

MINI will present an entirely refreshed line up at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed, with the first electric MINI John Cooper Works E PROtotype making its dynamic premiere tackling the iconic hillclimb. 

Marking a significant milestone as the first-ever electric MINI John Cooper Works, the model features an advanced electric powertrain with innovative design, while embodying MINI's commitment to innovation and electromobility.

Due to celebrate its world premiere later this year, the MINI John Cooper Works E represents a bold move in MINI's evolution, combining the brand's rich heritage with cutting-edge technology. The future John Cooper Works lineup will include both petrol and all-electric models, with fans able to see these models on display in the First Glance paddock for the duration of the festival.

Attendees to the show will find a host of new models on display, including the MINI Countryman, MINI Aceman, and MINI Cooper in both three-door and newly announced five-door variants. The MINI Cooper Electric can also be found on display in Electric Avenue.

Visitors to Goodwood can also visit the MINI Mixed Reality experience, where the virtual and real worlds are merged. Drivers will have the chance to immerse themselves in a unique 10-minute journey through the MINI universe, all while behind the wheel of a MINI Cooper Electric or a MINI Aceman - thanks to power of virtual reality. Munich/Beijing. MINI fans can look forward to the 18th Beijing International Automotive Exhibition 2024. From April 25 to May 4, MINI will be presenting the new generation of the new MINI Family at the China International Exhibition Center in Beijing. As part of the Chinese motor show with the theme “New Era, New Cars,” MINI is celebrating the world premiere of the first-ever MINI Aceman. With its independent, all-electric vehicle concept, the MINI Aceman occupies the position between the MINI Cooper and the MINI Countryman.

Together with the electric MINI Cooper in both power levels “E” and “SE” and the MINI John Cooper Works Countryman ALL4 with intelligent all-wheel drive, MINI is presenting the range of its new product portfolio at the Auto China 2024.

Auto China has been held in Beijing every two years since 1990. On more than 200,000 square meters of exhibition space, over 700 exhibitors present their portfolio in what is currently the world's largest automotive market.

The MINI Cooper: Maximum emotion in a minimal footprint.
With a fully electric drive, the MINI Cooper is available as Cooper E and with higher performance and range Cooper SE. Together with the octagonal front grille, the iconic round headlights define the distinctive face of the all-electric vehicle. As with the entire new model family, four vehicle trims (Essential, Classic, Favoured, JCW Trim) are available for the MINI Cooper.

At Auto China 2024, MINI presents the Cooper E in Favoured Trim. The exclusive exterior details of the equipment variant are expressively showcased in Sunny Side Yellow with contrasting roof and mirror caps in white. The MINI Cooper E impresses with 135 kW/184 hp and thrilling acceleration without delay. The battery of the MINI Cooper E (combined power consumption: 14.3-13.8 kWh/100 km according to WLTP; combined CO2 emissions: 0 g/km; CO2 class: A) achieves a range of 305 kilometers in the WLTP test cycle with a capacity of 40.7 kWh.  28 minutes of charging time at 75 kW is enough to charge the MINI Cooper E battery from 10 percent to 80 percent.

Electrified go-kart feeling with increased range.
In the MINI Cooper SE (combined power consumption: 14.7 — 14.1 kWh/
100 km according to WLTP; combined CO ₂ emissions: 0 g/km; CO2 class: A), the spontaneous power delivery of the 160 kW/218 hp electric motor creates even more emotions. The high-voltage battery with a capacity of 54.2 kWh achieves a range of up to 402 kilometers in the WLTP test cycle.

At Auto China 2024, the MINI Cooper SE in British Racing Green is a reminiscent of the racing successes of its classic predecessor.
In Classic Trim, the two-tone black and blue knit surface on the dashboard and doors provides an elegant contrast to the high-quality seats made of vescin. The interior of the MINI Cooper is based on the new MINI design language “Charismatic Simplicity.”
The round OLED display, the characteristic toggle switch bar and the redesigned steering wheel characterize the minimalistic look of the cockpit.

 At its booth in Beijing, MINI also presents the Cooper SE
in John Cooper Works Trim. The red contrasting roof adds a characteristic highlight to the Legend Grey shade. Exclusive design features such as the distinctive diffusers in the front and rear areas, the radiator grille and the JCW logo in high-gloss black emphasize the sporty character of the trim. In the interior, JCW sports seats with multi-colored knitwear and black synthetic leather with red stitching reflect the color scheme of the dashboard and door panel.

The MINI John Cooper Works Countryman ALL4:
Powerful versatility even off paved roads.
Also in Beijing: The largest MINI. With standard ALL4 all-wheel drive and 221 kW/300 hp high-performance engine, the MINI John Cooper Works Countryman ALL4 (combined fuel consumption: 8.3 — 7.8 l/100 km in accordance with WLTP; combined CO ₂ emissions: 187 — 177 g/km; CO2 class: A) sprints from standstill to 100 km/h in just 5.4 seconds.

The typical JCW, contrasting chili red on the mirror caps, the roof and the inlays on the air outlets, together with the shiny Midnight Black shade, accentuate the sportiness of the model. The interior of the versatile MINI model offers plenty of space.
This means that even bulky items can be transported in the luggage compartment with a volume of up to 1,450 liters when the bench is folded down.

The MINI Experience Modes are available for particularly immersive driving experiences. In addition to specific graphic elements on the
OLED display, MINI fans can experience the entire interior in a new way through special lighting graphics in different colors and patterns.

Whether MINI Cooper, MINI Aceman or MINI Countryman — the new MINI Family combines the MINI typical driving pleasure with efficient drive technologies and numerous options for customization.

Fuel consumption, CO2 emission figures and power consumption and range were measured using the methods required according to Regulation VO (EC) 2007/715 as amended. They refer to vehicles on the German automotive market. For ranges, the NEDC figures take into account differences in the selected wheel and tire size, while the WLTP figures take into account the effects of any optional equipment.

All figures have already been calculated based on the new WLTP test cycle. NEDC figures listed have been adjusted to the NEDC measurement method where applicable. WLTP values are used as a basis for the assessment of taxes and other vehicle-related duties which are (also) based on CO2 emissions and, where applicable, for the purposes of vehicle-specific subsidies. Leipzig. Electrification continues at BMW Group Plant Leipzig: Four months after launching production of the combustion-engined MINI Countryman, the all-electric version is now rolling off the lines at Leipzig as well. After phasing out production of the BMW i3, the birthplace of electric mobility at the BMW Group has welcomed another fully electric car to its range. It now manufactures four models with three drive types by two brands, all on a single production line: the BMW 1 Series, the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer (including the plug-in hybrid version), the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe and the MINI Countryman in both its fully electric and combustion-powered versions.

The MINI Countryman Electric represents a major step in the MINI brand’s transition to full electrification by 2030 and combines an electrified go-kart feel with zero local emissions mobility. It comes in two fully electric variants: the Countryman E (150 kW, 204 hp | electricity consumption 17.4 – 15.7 kWh/62 miles | CO2 emissions 0 g/mile) and the more powerful all-wheel Countryman SE ALL4 (230 kW, 313 hp | electricity consumption 18.5 – 16.8 kWh/62 miles | CO2 emissions 0 g/mile).  

Consistent plant upgrades and flexible production system

To enable production of up to 350,000 units a year – 100,000 more than previously – Plant Leipzig has been continuously upgraded since 2018, with extensive additions and upgrades to the bodyshop, paintshop, assembly and logistics. “Our cars and components are very much in demand. In recent years the BMW Group has invested around 1.6 billion euros in the Leipzig site to produce additional vehicles and electric components, and now we’re increasing vehicle volumes too – which is great news for our plant,” said Petra Peterhänsel, Plant Director.

The main driver behind the volume increase is the MINI Countryman. During the course of 2024, output will rise to almost 500 units a day – on top of the 800 or so BMW vehicles the plant is producing. What’s more, thanks to its flexible production system, Plant Leipzig is in a position to respond quickly to customer demand, for example by increasing the share of fully electric vehicles.

Flexible assembly structures also meant the MINI Countryman Electric could be integrated seamlessly into production. The situation is similar with the different drive units, which are all produced on one and the same line in aggregate assembly and prepared for what’s known as “marriage” with the body. The e-drives, transmissions and control electronics (collectively known as the highly integrated electric drive topology, or HEAT) for the two all-electric models are connected directly in the plant. A new production line was required only for the control electronics.

More staff and nightshifts for increased production volume

Higher production volume means secure employment and up to 900 additional employees in vehicle production alone. By the end of 2024, Plant Leipzig will employ around 7,000 BMW staff. Working hours will need to be adjusted in all technologies, with nightshifts in assembly starting for the first time in September of this year and cars being produced round the clock in three shifts.

“Plant Leipzig first went on stream in 2005 with about 2,600 employees in production. 19 years later there are over 7,000. Over the years, the plant has grown steadily and considerably. The start of nightshifts in assembly represents another important milestone in the success story of our plant and is a clear show of confidence by our company in our site here in Leipzig,” emphasised Works Council Chairman Jens Köhler.

Made at Plant Leipzig: high-voltage batteries for the MINI Countryman Electric

With the production launch of the MINI Countryman Electric, all three stages of the Gen 5 high-voltage battery production process are now represented at BMW Group Plant Leipzig: cell coating, module production and battery assembly. Operations in all three are currently ramping up, with five cell-coating, three module-production and two high-voltage battery-production lines now in place.

“We are in the middle of the transformation to e-mobility,” said Markus Fallböhmer, Head of Battery Production at the BMW Group. “Starting this year, Plant Leipzig will carry out every stage of our in-house high-voltage battery production process. It’s our next great step forwards.”

Plant Leipzig’s e-component production capacity has been increasing since 2021. It will now manufacture not just the high-voltage batteries for the MINI Countryman Electric but also e-components for the BMW iX1, BMW iX2, BMW i4, BMW i5 and BMW iX made at other sites. The e-component production unit at Leipzig currently employs some 1,000 people.

To enable production of high-voltage batteries, spaces previously used for the BMW i3 and BMW i8 have been converted and new buildings added. One of them is a new hall with a footprint of about 61,000 m². This houses two lines capable of producing up to 300,000 high-voltage batteries a year. The BMW Group has invested over 900 million euros in e-component production at Plant Leipzig to date.

Resource-saving painting processes

At launch, the fully electric MINI Countryman comes in three additional body colours: British Racing Green, Chili Red and Blazing Blue – and with MINI’s trademark contrast roof, if desired. This is painted using a new overspray-free method that saves resources and is currently being readied for series operation. The term “overspray” refers to the mist of excess paint particles that forms when bodies are painted the conventional way. With the new technique, this mist no longer occurs. This makes it easier to paint in multiple colours as the laborious process of masking is no longer required. Overspray-free painting also helps save CO₂ emissions, as exhaust from the cabin requires less cleansing. In addition, it requires considerably less conditioned air, i.e. air that is brought to the exact temperature and humidity required for painting. As a result, less energy is needed to temper air and treat exhaust.

The burner technology used to dry the paint on contrast roofs was also converted for the start of MINI Countryman production and now consists of a bivalent system. The fuel-flexible burners can run on hydrogen (H2) as well as gas (methane, CH4) and even switch between the two while in operation. Five such bivalent hydrogen-capable burners are used to produce the contrast roofs for the MINI Countryman.

Further burners in the paintshop will also gradually switch to bivalent operations, with the next six hydrogen-capable burners just installed. This makes Leipzig a pioneer in the automotive industry and takes it ever closer to lower CO₂ emissions. “Our vision at Plant Leipzig is to decarbonise production as far as possible by replacing fossil fuels with green hydrogen,” said Petra Peterhänsel, explaining the long-term focus of the facility. This will require sufficient green hydrogen from a grid. A regional hydrogen grid is currently in planning, with Plant Leipzig set to benefit.

Munich. With 218 electrically generated hp (160 kW) and 330 Newton metres of maximum torque, the MINI Cooper Electric (electricity consumption combined: 14.7 - 14.1 kWh/100 km according to WLTP; CO2 emissions combined: 0 g/km) is way out in front with zero emissions, especially with its ability to sprint from 0 to 62mph in 6.7 seconds. The high-voltage battery installed in the MINI Cooper Electric, with an energy content of 54.2 kWh, enables a range of up to 250 miles - as determined in the WLTP test cycle. With many details, the Sport trim emphasises the brand's motorsport genes – achieved through numerous racing successes, including three victories at the Monte Carlo Rally in the 1960s.

Individual front and rear design with a motorsport look.

The new John Cooper Works logo, which is characterised by clear outlines, stands out particularly well with its traditional red, white and black colour scheme and the symbolised chequered flag on the octagonal front grille.The powerful appearance of the MINI Cooper Electric in Sport trim is achieved, among other things, by 18-inch wheels in Lap Spoke 2-tone design with ten spokes each and JCW brake callipers in eye-catching red. Bonnet stripes on the body emphasise its sporty character.

As standard, the MINI Cooper Electric in Sport Trim includes striking diffusers at the front and rear. The radiator grille surround and logo are finished in high-gloss black. Visual highlights include the contrasting roof and the mirror caps in Chilli Red.

The MINI LED headlights have individual light signatures. With the selected JCW signature, the front lights only show two horizontal stripes as daytime running lights and emphasise the minimalist design of the new MINI Cooper Electric. The graphics of the matrix rear lights underline the width of the rear of the vehicle.

Racing-inspired interior.

The JCW seats combine synthetic leather with red stitching and multi-coloured knitted material in the shoulder section. The black and red colour concept is continued on the 2d-knit covering the interior of the door and the dashboard – the passenger side of which is adorned with the JCW-specific pattern in style of a chequered flag.

The central, high-resolution OLED display, with a diameter of 240mm, bundles vehicle-related data and provides information on navigation, media, telephone and climate settings. With the MINI Experience Modes, it offers new possibilities for individualisation. These include the John Cooper Works-inspired GO-KART Mode, which colours the display and interior lighting anthracite red. In addition to the special GO-KART sound, the optimised throttle response of the accelerator pedal in this mode enhances the sporty driving experience.

New driver assistance systems and efficient charging.

With 12 ultrasonic sensors and four surround cameras, Parking Assistant Plus simplifies parking and identifies free parking spaces. The advanced EXPLORE Mode offers a unique solution for this vehicle segment: it allows parking via smartphone, without the driver having to sit in the MINI.  A significant plus in convenience when parking space is tight at the side.

Fast charging with direct current is possible with up to 95 kW. This means that the battery can be charged from 10 per cent to 80 per cent in just under 30 minutes at a quick-charging station. The high-voltage battery is charged with 11 kW using alternating current. When navigation is activated, the high-voltage battery of the MINI Cooper Electric is prepared to the ideal temperature for efficient charging depending on the weather conditions. The advantage: a significantly shorter charging time, especially at low outside temperatures.

Following the collaboration between MINI and Crayola to explore the creative minds of children and discover their visions for the cars of tomorrow, the winner of the ‘MINI Minds... with Crayola’ competition has been announced.

With hundreds of entries from across the UK by brilliant young visionaries aged 4 - 10, Oliver Gorrod, aged nine from Oxfordshire, has been unveiled as the winner. Oliver commented, “I can’t believe I have won! It was such a surprise and was so fun to enter as I love designing things.”

Praised for his remarkable creativity and future gazing prowess, his design centred around championing nature, with Oliver stating, “I like the idea of all cars being electric, as they are better for the environment, animals and the planet. My car is designed as camouflage, so it blends into natural environments.”

The competition inspired and fostered creative confidence in children, encouraging them to unleash their imaginations and design their dreams for the car of the future. As the generation growing up in a world dominated by electric cars, their entries unveiled some intriguing results, including over 25% saying they would like their car to be environmentally friendly to help the planet.

Oliver’s prize includes his winning design being made into reality using a vinyl wrap on a MINI Electric, plus a big bundle of Crayola art materials for him and his school. Oliver will also get to visit MINI Plant Oxford for a private tour, to see how the MINI Electric is made.

Offering an exciting new insight into the brand's vision for the future, the installation celebrates the power of human connection and the transformative potential of unity, bringing MINI’s Big Love attitude to life.

With MINI and Morag united by their shared values of imaginative space utilisation, the bold and colourful installation is created in Morag’s signature style. ‘Nice to Meet you Again’ infuses both rural and urban life by joining the vibrancy of a cityscape with sensorial touches reminiscent of the countryside. The merging of calming nature and dynamic city communities is reminiscent of both Morag and MINI’s ability to integrate designs with the surrounding environment, creating a captivating experience within the inspired setting of Shoreditch Electric Light Station.

The installations title ‘Nice to Meet you Again’ pays homage to the Classic Mini character seen within the MINI Cooper Electric design – a focus on a simplified and reduced interior which focuses on just the steering wheel, circular display and toggle bar - as well as Morag’s passion for combining environments.

Providing a fully immersive journey into a future where spaces are adorned with abundant greenery and teeming with vibrant life, the installation exudes a contagious sense of optimism and positive energy, mirroring MINI's signature 'go-kart feeling' and playful nature.

Following their recent unveiling, the new all-electric MINI Cooper and all-new MINI Countryman will make their UK premiere at Goodwood Revival 2023, which this year takes places across the weekend of 8– 10 September.

Debuted at the IAA Mobility 2023 in Munich, the new MINI Cooper Electric features a world’s-first 24cm circular OLED screen, digital focused interior with brand new Experience Modes and offers customers either 190 or 249 miles of electric range*.

As the largest member of the MINI family, the new MINI Countryman is offered for the first time with both an electric and combustion powertrain. With a matching interior to the MINI Cooper, the MINI Countryman also offers Level 2 semi-automated driving for the first time, and grows in size to provide customers with more space, comfort and versatility.

Both models will feature on display inside Cooper’s – MINI’s retro inspired supermarket with a contemporary twist – located within Earls Court Motor Show, where guests will have the opportunity to win prizes through exciting giveaways.

Offering guests an interactive experience, each touchpoint inside Cooper’s tells a unique MINI Story. Cleverly branded stock alludes to innovative new model features, such as ‘Spike’s Kibble’, representing MINI’s canine virtual assistant, knitted goods which point to the new textile dashboard made from recycled polyester and ‘Countryman Crunch’ cereal with its adventure themed packaging. A classic Mini will also be on display.

For its fifth generation, MINI is taking a giant leap into the digital era and the brands all-electric future, today unveiling the new MINI Cooper Electric at the IAA International Motor Show in Munich. Celebrating its rich heritage yet iconic design, the new MINI Cooper offers a major step forward in technology, while focusing on a driver centric interior cabin.

“With its electric drive and purist design, the new MINI Cooper is a perfect fit for an urban lifestyle. In the fifth generation of the MINI Cooper, we combine the traditional MINI DNA with innovative, future-oriented technology while enabling locally emission-free driving fun that is typical of MINI,” says Stefanie Wurst, Head of MINI.

“Inspired by our history, we have developed our own new design language, defining our DNA. We call it ‘Charismatic Simplicity’. The idea behind it is a design that gives each new MINI model a strong, individual character and is characterized by a clear, reduced design language intuitively focused on the essentials of the brand.” says Oliver Heilmer, Head of MINI Design.

Available in two output levels - E and SE – and three exceptionally well specified trim levels in the UK – Classic, Exclusive and Sport – the new MINI Cooper Electric is priced from £30,120 OTR, with first customer deliveries taking place in spring 2024.

The exterior: maximum reduction to the essentials.
In its fifth generation, the MINI 3-door once again embodies the core of the brand yet now with a fully electric drivetrain. The silhouette features hallmark MINI proportions: short overhangs, a short bonnet, and a contrasting long wheelbase, while larger wheels and the removal of chrome from the vehicle bring a fresh take to the design.

The front end of the all-electric MINI Cooper remains iconic thanks to a striking new octagonal grille with filigree contour, and the infamous MINI circular headlights, which are offered with three unique light signatures for the first time. While horizontal light graphics are offered as standard, optionally the daytime running light elements can be switched to create three adjustable light signatures. In addition, all light modes start and end with a specially orchestrated welcome and goodbye animation.

Flush door handles are offered for the time first, while the wheel arches and side scuttles have been removed. Typical MINI design features such as the visual three-part division of the vehicle body, the all-round window area and contrasting roof help the new design stand out.

The new MINI aesthetic also gives the rear a new, contemporary feel, featuring clear surfaces and flush rear lights which can be switched to different modes in the same way as the front headlights. A defined shoulder section and a striking black handle completes the exterior design.

Three individual trims for even more character.
The all-electric MINI Cooper is available in three different trims; Classic, Exclusive and Sport. The Classic trim presents a reduced overall appearance while highlighting key parts such as the logo in new colour Vibrant Silver. A range of four external paint finishes, including all-new Sunny Side Yellow, one contrasting roof colour and two wheel options give customers maximum flexibility.

The Exclusive trim adds additional exterior design elements, such as the option for a Multitone Roof with a combination of three different colours, as well as offering the front grille in Vibrant Silver. Finally, the Sport trim offers a distinctive front and rear design, using high-gloss black as the frame for the front grille and logo colour. Combined with contrasting Chili Red roof and red/black bonnet stripes available optionally, there is no doubt the Sport trim has been inspired by its motorsport history.

The interior: minimalist, digital, immersive & warm.
The interior of the vehicle echoes the famous minimalist design of the classic Mini, using just the round instrument cluster in the centre and the infamous toggle bar below. In the new MINI Cooper, it is precisely these two elements, in combination with the steering wheel, that are the focus of the interior cabin.

The curved dashboard features a textile surface for the first time, where a specially developed knitting process has been used to create a versatile, easy-care textile in a two-colour design that is made of recycled polyester. To keep the dashboard as slim as possible the air vents are flat, and behind the steering wheel, the optional Head-up Display ensures that all the relevant content appears in the driver’s field of vision.

The clear lines and generous space in the front seats give the interior a modern feel, while the optional panoramic glass roof makes the interior bright and friendly. In the dark, the side lighting is based on the ambient light, thereby contributing to a distinctive interior atmosphere, and the armrest, mounted on the driver’s seat, provides even more space in the centre console.

Underneath the dashboard, the newly designed toggle bar houses the most important driving functions: parking brake, gear selector, start/stop key, experience mode toggle and volume control. Without the need for a gearstick, the new MINI Cooper offers more storage space in the centre console, with larger cup holders and an open storage compartment, alongside a wireless charging area. For those choosing the Exclusive trim, a knitted surface and a textile strap comes as standard.

The rear of the vehicle offers additional underfloor storage in the luggage compartment, and by folding down the rear seats in a 60:40 ratio, the luggage compartment can be expanded from 210 to 800 litres.

World’s first OLED display revolutionises the user experience.
The central OLED display sets a new benchmark of automotive design and is the defining feature of the interior. With a diameter of 240mm and MINI Operating System 9, all vehicle functions can be operated with either touch or voice control, while the display has been moved closer to the driver for easy reach.

The upper half of the screen displays vehicle-related information such as speed and battery status, and can be tapped to be displayed full screen, while the lower area houses Navigation, Media, Phone and Climate. In the Home menu, other widgets are displayed in thumbnail view to the left and right of the current menu function and can be brought up and selected by swiping horizontally to the centre. All other functions can be accessed via the menu with the display returning to the default setting via the home button.

At the centre of the screen is the start menu, where personalised content can be selected and launched by swiping to the side. In the lower section of the screen is the fixed status bar containing the menu items “Navigation”, “Media”, “Telephone”, “All Apps” and, depending on the situation, “Home”, which can be selected directly.

Swiping up from the lower edge of the screen reveals a tool belt where favourite functions can be stored and called up rapidly. The tool belt can also be activated via the star button on the multifunction steering wheel. The upper screen area is reserved for driving-relevant content such as the vehicle speed and important information on vehicle status. The optional Head-up Display shows the most important information for the driver in their field of view.

The temperature for the driver and front passenger is permanently displayed on the left- and right-hand edge of the screen. The climate control settings are integrated into the MINI Interaction Unit and can be adjusted on the top layer by touch or voice command. Depending on the Experience mode selected, a single tap on the speed display transforms the entire unit into a MINI-typical speedometer.

MINI connects: the new MINI Operating System 9.
MINI Operating System 9 is an in-house development by the BMW Group and is based on an Android Open Source Project (AOSP) software stack. The interface uses all-new static and dynamic graphical elements which blend naturally into the circular form of the OLED display.

“The new MINI Operating System 9 is characterised by simple, emotional touch operation that is specific to MINI. Together with the new cloud-based MINI Navigation for particularly precise and fast route calculation, high-speed connectivity and optional 5G capability, the new MINI Cooper takes a giant leap into the digital world, thereby underlining the brand’s charismatic heritage,” says Stefanie Wurst, Head of MINI.

The new MINI Navigation provides maps and directions in realistic 3D visualisations, displaying complicated turning situations, current traffic levels and assistance with parking with information on parking options, digital payment methods and more. A charge-optimised route can be calculated for the all-electric MINI Cooper immediately after entering the destination, while an optional augmented reality function is available for the visualisation of turn-by-turn directions.

In addition, MINI Connected upgrades give customers the opportunity to purchase additional vehicle functions. In conjunction with the optionally available MINI Connected Package, the MINI Connected Store provides access to a constantly evolving variety of apps, including gaming, music, and video streaming. The new AirConsole app provides a unique form of in-car gaming for all passengers, making the smartphone the controller of the game on the OLED display.

A whole new MINI experience: the new MINI Experience Modes.
Seven MINI Experience modes are available on the new MINI Cooper Electric: Core, Green, Go-Kart, Personal, Vivid, Timeless and Balance. Each mode has specially designed backgrounds and when one of the seven modes is selected, the display focuses on a relevant “Mode App”. Giving drivers the opportunity to personalise the inside cabin, the MINI projector housed on the back of the OLED display immerses the dashboard in matching colour schemes and patterns, while the combined ambient lighting provides a unique cabin experience.

In Go-Kart Mode, there is a focus on MINI’s racing DNA; the display and interior as a whole feature the colours anthracite and red, while specific analogue displays for driving dynamics complement this mode inspired by John Cooper Works. Vivid Mode draws on the colours of the album cover for the ambient lighting and for a unique experience, Personal Mode allows an individually selected image to be set as the display background via the MINI App. The dominant colours of the image then extend across the textile dashboard surfaces by means of a digital colour picker. The ambient lighting under the dashboard and in the door mirror is also colour-coded to match these projections.

Three newly designed trims for an individual look.
In line with focusing on reduction, the interior offers new contemporary colours, materials, and design features, for example a brand-new three-spoke steering wheel with textile strap in the six o'clock spoke. Newly developed, high-quality, and environment-friendly materials are also used across the dashboard and door panels, where knitted surfaces are made of recycled polyester and feature a two-tone design.

Three newly designed trims of Classic, Exclusive and Sport allow customers the ultimate choice in interior personalisation. In Classic trim, MINI uses a modern 2D knitted textile in the interior of a production vehicle for the first time. Black sports seats in a high-quality synthetic leather are offered with a distinctly patterned multitone textile to match a coloured textile band on the dashboard, while on the dashboard and door handles, a two-tone black knitted material is offered. Also available within this trim is a grey and black material featuring perforated houndstooth pattern, while the side contrasts in blue textile.

The Exclusive trim features a two-tone houndstooth pattern on the knitted-textile instrument panel and is available in two colours with traditional accent stitching and perforated Vescin sports seats. Customers choosing the Exclusive trim can also take the all-new Spray-Tech roof which features a blending of three different colours.

The Sport trim offers a performance focused interpretation of the new materials, combining multi-coloured knitted textile and black synthetic leather with red stitching. A distinct front and rear design with the vehicle grille and logo in high-gloss black is offered as standard, while a contrasting Chili Red roof and JCW-specific red or black bonnet stripes can be added optionally.

“Hey MINI!”: the first MINI Intelligent Personal Assistant.
In the new MINI Cooper, numerous functions can be controlled using the brand’s first ever fully-fledged voice assistant. The MINI Intelligent Personal Assistant can be activated with the greeting “Hey MINI” or by using the push-to-talk steering wheel button. Voice-controlled interaction is displayed on the round OLED display in the form of an animation of graphic elements, typography, and an avatar. For the visualisation, users have the option to choose between “MINI” – a stylised representation of a MINI – or optionally "Spike" who will already be familiar to MINI fans.

With improved voice recognition, verbal commands are also displayed on the central instrument cluster allowing drivers to control navigation, telephony, entertainment, and vehicle functions by hand movement. The MINI Intelligent Personal Assistant continuously learns about the drive to be as helpful as possible on repetitive routes. Drawing on geobased data, the vehicle can learn to automatically open the window when entering a car park for example, making day-to-day routines more convenient and personal.

New driver assistance systems make day-to-day life easier.
In addition to the automatic parking functions offered by the Parking Assistant, the new optional Parking Assistant Plus makes the parking process even easier. With 12 ultrasonic sensors and four surround-view cameras, the vehicle can identify possible parking spaces and independently initiate space-restricted parking manoeuvres. A manual parking process can be transferred to Parking Assistant Plus at any time.

Taking this further, Explore Mode offers a uniquely convenient solution for this vehicle segment, enabling the new MINI Cooper to be parked using a smartphone if the space at the side is too limited for entry. The innovative MINI Digital Key Plus option uses the smartphone as a key, enabling automatic opening of the vehicle, and can be transferred to different users for easier car sharing. Welcome projection of the front and rear lights begins as soon as the driver is within three metres of the car; the doors are unlocked when the driver is less than one and a half metres.

For further safety, customers who chose the Remote 360 option can view the surroundings of the parked vehicle in the MINI App, while a camera in the inside provides a view of the interior. In addition, the Snapshot function offers the opportunity to capture shared moments in a photograph and to upload them via Wi-Fi-direct to the smartphone.

Brand new powertrain bringing all-electric driving fun
With a completely new powertrain, the new MINI Cooper Electric is available in two variants: E and SE. The Cooper E hosts a high-voltage battery with 40.7 kWh of capacity which provides up to 190 miles of electric range according to the WLTP test cycle. A 135 kW/184 hp electric motor generates a torque of 290 Nm and accelerates the vehicle from 0 to 62mph in 7.3 seconds.

With an output of 160 kW/218 hp, the Cooper SE sprints from 0 to 62mph in 6.7 seconds with a maximum torque of 330 Nm, with the calculated range increasing to a maximum of 250 miles thanks to a battery capacity of 54.2 kWh.

Excellent driving dynamics for comfort and performance.
The MINI Cooper Electric has an increased track width and wheelbase, with a tuned suspension and damping system. Combined with powerful brakes, low centre of gravity, a strut brace and highly preloaded stabiliser mounts on the axles, the MINI Cooper offers precise steering and comfort.

New MINI Experience Modes for individually tailored driving fun.
The various MINI Experience modes offer further individual settings, for example, on Go-Kart Mode, customers can configure steering response and intervention limits of traction control to ensure more driving fun. By contrast, Green Mode optimises the efficiency of the drivetrain, focusing on ensuring maximum range thanks to increased recuperation management.

These immersive driving experiences are enhanced by new acoustic worlds created by the digital MINI Sounds. This includes new driving sounds in the interior, an unmistakable MINI brand sound as a mark of identification, jingles for the new MINI Experience Modes, and 30 new sound signals for information and warning functions.

Simplified and efficient battery charging.
The MINI Cooper can be charged via three ways; 11 kW AC charging, 75 kW DC charging and 95 kW DC charging, meaning at a fast-charging station, the battery can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in under 30 minutes. By using the MINI Navigation, the vehicle will ensure the high-voltage battery reaches the ideal temperature for efficient charging in advance, thus reducing charging time. Customers can also optimise charging for their schedule, setting charging start times, active charging windows, and target battery capacity by departure time. Finally, drivers can instruct that the interior cabin is air conditioned by a set departure time.

The MINI App provides a convenient overview of the vehicle status and charging process, including current battery status, charging-optimised route plan and charging history.

Available in two output levels - E and SE – and three exceptionally well specified trim levels in the UK – Classic, Exclusive and Sport – the new MINI Cooper Electric is priced from £30,120 OTR, with first customer deliveries taking place in spring 2024.

Following the positive feedback on the one-off presented in summer 2022, MINI is going ahead with a small series of all-electric MINI Convertible (power consumption combined: 17.2 kWh/62 miles according to WLTP; combined CO2 emissions: 0 g/km, Energy Consumption – 3.6 miles/kWh), representing another big step in the direction of electric mobility.

"Three years ago, we launched the MINI Electric, and today one in five MINI models sold in Europe is an all-electric MINI. This success has spurred us to implement the small series of the MINI Electric Convertible within only a few months. I'm delighted that we can offer 999 MINI customers an extraordinary and exclusive open-air go-kart feeling," says Stefanie Wurst, Head of the MINI Brand.

The MINI Electric Convertible is offered with a fixed specification and two exterior paint choices for customers: Enigmatic Black or White Silver. Door handles, side scuttles and the surrounds of the front and rear lights are finished in Resolute Bronze, and the MINI logo and model lettering feature in Piano Black. The E logo - also found on the MINI Electric - is situated on the front apron and on the rear. Edition-specific details are found on the side scuttles and door sill trims, featuring consecutive numbering for each of the 999 units available.

The MINI Electric Convertible also showcases edition-specific 17” Electric Power Spoke 2-tone alloy wheels, made from 100 per cent secondary aluminium. The combination of green electricity during production and the use of the secondary raw material, significantly reduces CO2 emissions compared to conventional manufacturing processes.

For the interior, MINI Yours sports seats in Leather Lounge design offer seat heating and adjustable thigh support, while the multifunctional sports steering wheel - finished in Nappa leather – is also heated and features the MINI Electric logo. Interior surfaces are finished in Piano Black, while ambient lighting and signature MINI Electric yellow colour accents, such as the start-stop toggle switch, complete the interior design.

Premium interior materials are complemented by eDrive services, providing the driver with current energy consumption, range, and tips for economical driving, all displayed on the MINI Head-Up Display. On longer journeys, the Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go function, and MINI Driving Assistant enhance comfort.

The MINI Electric Convertible is powered by a compact, yet powerful 135kW/ 184hp electric motor, enabling harmonious axle load distribution, agility, and controllable handling while delivering 0-62mph in just 8.2 seconds. Offering a WLTP range of 124 miles, the dimensions, including boot space, remain unchanged and provides 160 litres.

The MINI Electric Convertible will be produced in a limited run of 999 units alongside the conventional MINI Convertible in the Netherlands. With just 150 models destined for the UK, the vehicle will be available from April 2023 and priced at £52,500 OTR.

Munich/Asheville. Right on time for summer, MINI is presenting the MINI Electric as a convertible for the first time. The car is not for series production but serves as a unique example of how the path to becoming an all-electric premium brand could continue in the future.

The one-off model will be shown to the public for the first time at the traditional community event "MINI Takes the States" in the USA. The winding roads between Burlington in Vermont and Greenville-Spartanburg in South Carolina will provide the perfect opportunity to give the attending MINI community a first impression of the typical MINI go-kart feeling in the MINI Electric Convertible.

The unique car is based on the body of the MINI Cooper S Convertible. The electrified MINI Convertible also shares the dimensions of 3,863 mm in length with a wheelbase of 2,495 mm, a width of 1,727 mm and a height of 2,495 mm. The load volume in the luggage compartment also remains unchanged at 160 l.

The drive technology comes from the BMW Group's electric mobility competence centres in Dingolfing and Landshut. The MINI Electric Convertible uses the same drive components as the three-door MINI Electric. The exceptionally harmonious axle load distribution due to the small electric motor favours agile and easily controllable handling.

The 135 kW/184 hp electric motor enables acceleration from a 0-62 mph in 7.7 seconds. With a range of up to 145 miles WLTP, open-air excursions in urban environments as well as beyond the city limits are possible. The MINI Electric Convertible combines open-top driving fun with clever functionality. The fully electric textile roof can be opened and closed within 18 seconds. At the touch of a button, the soft top can be activated when driving up to 18 mph and allows three settings: open, closed or as a sunroof.

MINI will be the first BMW Group brand to go fully electric by the early 2030s. The successful transformation of the brand to electric mobility is demonstrated particularly impressively with the MINI Electric model which launched in 2020. With sales growth of over 132%, the model was the beating heart of the MINI brand in 2021.

As ‘Official Vehicle Partner’, BMW Group has been closely linked with the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship since the very first race around seven years ago. Since the Rome E-Prix (ITA) at the weekend, a new FIA Formula E safety car leads the field: the MINI Electric Pacesetter inspired by JCW. The fully electric car was designed by BMW Motorsport with racing technology, making it perfectly suited to the special requirements of a FIA Formula E safety car. FIA President Jean Todt and the official FIA Formula E safety car driver Bruno Correia (POR) were among those won over at the race weekend with plenty of safety car action.
 
“The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship is the top electric racing series as well as an efficient way to promote urban sustainable mobility,” said Todt. “The new Official Safety Car - the MINI Electric Pacesetter - is a case in point. As safety is one of the FIA's top priorities, we’ve collaborated with BMW Group and Formula E to develop a car model to play this key role. I have had the pleasure to test it in Rome last weekend and its first outing has met the expectations. It has reminded me of nice memories as I started to compete in Rally in a Mini Cooper.“
 
In light of adverse weather conditions and turbulent races with several incidents, the new FIA Formula E safety car was called into action four times on its debut in Rome. Both races were started behind the MINI Electric Pacesetter inspired by JCW, and the race on Saturday ended behind the safety car after incidents shortly before the finish. The incidents gave Correia plenty of opportunities to get to know the car.
 
“It is fantastic to have a fully electric car leading the Formula E field,” said Correia. “The MINI Electric Pacesetter is perfect for the narrow street circuits of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. The handling of the car is fantastic. And thanks to the modifications for use on the racetrack – for example, the suspension and the brakes – the MINI is extremely fast and agile.”
 
The positive verdict of former racing driver Correia is a great description of the unique character of the MINI Electric Pacesetter inspired by JCW. In this instance, BMW Motorsport did not convert an existing road vehicle into the FIA Formula E Safety Car. Instead, the engineers used the new MINI Electric (combined fuel consumption: 0.0 l/100 km; combined energy consumption: 17.6 – 15.2 kWh/100 km according to WLTP, 16.1 – 14.9 kWh/100 km according to NEFZ, combined CO2 emissions: 0 g/km) as a basis to design a totally new safety car.
 
“We approached the project both in terms of safety and handling as if we were building a racing car, and started with the body in white of the MINI Electric,” described Rudolf Dittrich, head of vehicle development at BMW Motorsport. “The result is a car that sets standards in braking power, cornering performance and agility. And it is precisely these areas that are crucial on the narrow street circuits in Formula E.”
 
In addition to the body in white, the powertrain is another component taken from the production vehicle. Only details were modified to meet the specific requirements of a safety car, and it yields 135 kW of power and 280 Nm of torque. This sees the MINI Electric Pacesetter inspired by JCW sprint from 0-62mph in 6.7 seconds (production: 7.3 sec.), from 0-60mph in 3.6 sec. (production: 3.9 sec.) and from 80-120 mph in 4.3 sec. (production: 4.6 sec.).
 
The brakes are largely identical in construction to those of the MINI John Cooper Works GP (combined fuel consumption: 7.3 l/100 km, combined CO2 emissions: 167 g/km). For the chassis, the basic concept was adopted from production; however, numerous components - for example, the spring damper system - were replaced with motorsport elements. A totally new feature is the Kevlar underride guard familiar from rallying, which primarily protects the battery when driving roughly over kerbs. The size, profile and rubber compound of the tyres have also been modified for use as a safety car.
 
Through the consistent use of carbon and CFRP in the construction of the specific bodywork modifications - some of which were even produced using 3D printing - the BMW Motorsport engineers were able to achieve a weight reduction of 130 kg compared with the production MINI Electric, and thus an unladen weight of around 1,230 kg. The safety car contains all the modules required by the FIA for passive safety. In the interior, the driver has all the required systems such as radio, GPS, transponder and the control panels for the lighting system.
 
Alongside the MINI Electric Pacesetter inspired by JCW, the BMW i8 Roadster Safety Car (fuel consumption (combined): 2.0 l /100 km; energy use (combined): 14.5 kWh /100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 46 g/km)*, which has been modified specially for racing use, will continue to be appearing as Formula E safety car. The fleet also includes the BMW i3s (Power consumption in kWh/100: 14.6-14.0 (NEDC); 16.6-16.3 (WLTP), electric range in km: 278-283 (WLTP))* as ‘Race Director Car’ and the BMW iX3 (Power consumption in kWh/100: 17.8-17.5 (NEDC); 19.0-18.6 (WLTP), electric range in km: 450-458 (WLTP))* in its roles as ‘Medical Car’ and ‘Rescue Car’.

Electric drive meets John Cooper Works.
“We have already shown how well driving fun and electric mobility go together with the MINI Electric,” says Bernd Körber, Head of MINI. “However, the MINI Electric Pacesetter inspired by JCW goes at least a step further and blends the performance character of the John Cooper Works brand with electric mobility.

This extreme version of the MINI Electric has been developed as the Safety Car in the Formula E, so is clearly not intended for use on public roads. But it does reveal one of the directions we could take with the electrification of the JCW brand. For me, the message is clear: electrification and John Cooper Works are a good fit.”

Dynamism maximised – the exterior design.
The exterior of the MINI Electric Pacesetter inspired by JCW has been purpose-built for life on the track and represents the most dynamic interpretation yet of a MINI with all-electric power. “The design is an exciting symbiosis of technical precision and emotion,” explains Oliver Heilmer, Head of MINI Design. “Here, function dictates form, and many design elements have been shaped by technical considerations.

For example, we worked closely with our colleagues at BMW Motorsport to develop the form of the wheel arches and front and rear aprons, and the optimisation programme for them included weight-saving measures. This visually striking, technically precise design language gives the car its pervasive sense of emotional engagement and excitement.”

At the front of the car, classic MINI icons such as the circular headlights and hexagonal radiator grille create the familiar, easily recognisable MINI face. At the same time, signature John Cooper Works elements, such as wheel arches adapted to the car’s track width and the deep front apron with additional front splitters to the left and right, enhance the sporting visuals of the front end. The blanked off “radiator grille” and MINI Electric logo point to the electric “heart” of the Safety Car.

As virtually no drive system cooling is required through the upper area of the grille, the front end is largely enclosed to aid aerodynamics. The only exceptions are the area below the grille and the eye-catching, almost squared-off apertures for brake cooling. The Safety Car’s white flashing lights are integrated harmoniously into the bonnet. Characteristic MINI bonnet stripes extend over the roof to the rear end.

Showcasing MINI’s racing genes – the flanks.
The MINI Electric Pacesetter inspired by JCW also cuts an extremely dynamic figure from the side. The interplay of geometrically accentuated spats (with carefully placed aero edges) and sporty side skirts gives the car the appearance of powering forward even before it turns a wheel. Together with the increased-diameter wheels, which almost fill the wheel arches, these elements strengthen the time-honoured MINI “stance on the wheels”. The spats and spoilers are made – or more precisely 3D printed from recycled carbon fibre – in Oxford.

Yellow accent lines and surfaces on the aero elements (e.g. the spats, skirts and rear wing) provide a nod to the airflow optimisation taking place in these areas and add a visual flourish to the air deflectors and aero edges. The lightweight 18-inch forged wheels in bi-colour black-neon/orange design bring significant visual depth and added intricacy to the four-spoke items from the MINI John Cooper Works GP.

The respective colour worlds of the MINI Electric and John Cooper Works brand merge into a single statement here. The main body colour is a matt silver which extends back beyond the centre-point of the car. A high-gloss wrap with a two-stage colour gradient – from Highspeed Orange to Curbside Red metallic – then covers the rest of the body to the rear.

The contrast between matt and gloss surfaces brings extra smoothness to the silhouette, while the clear, diagonal separation lines between the different colours injects further dynamism. On the flanks, a chequered flag-inspired pattern shares the stage with a large MINI Electric logo, which can also be found in the radiator grille, on the roof and at the rear end. The Safety Car brief also brings regulations-specific and sponsor-related graphics, which add further visual intensity to the car’s racing character.

Broad and eye-catching – the rear.
The rear end in black and Curbside Red metallic uses yellow accent surfaces to extend the eye-catching design language from the front end and flanks, and makes an extremely modern and dynamic statement. The prominent roof-mounted rear wing with air through-flow and yellow accent lines also integrates the signal light unit and was 3D printed at Plant Oxford. The flared wheel arches accentuate the car’s wide track and transition seamlessly into the pronounced rear apron. The rear apron has cut-outs around the wheels, clearing the view to the higher-grip racing tyres. Between the wheels sits an unadorned diffuser. When the car is viewed from this angle, the accents in Energetic Yellow and lack of exhaust tailpipes identify this as a car powered by an electric drive system.

Reduced to the max – the interior.
The interior is stripped back to the absolute essentials; only the front seats remain. The driver’s area consists of a certified seat with six-point belt approved for both racing and road use, a steering wheel with minimalist-design carbon fibre impact absorber and a digital instrument cluster. The central information display makes way for a carbon fibre cover here to further reduce weight. The centre console houses the gearshift lever, handbrake and controls for the necessary signal lights – all in exposed carbon fibre.

The likewise pared-back carbon-fibre door panels with window and door openers contain cloth straps to make closing the doors easier. Another central feature of the interior is the welded-in roll cage, which maximises safety. And the remainder of the stripped-out interior structure is also painted in typical racing white (for functional reasons).

Bespoke 3D-printed parts for the interior.
The steering wheel’s minimalist impact absorber and the boost panel on the right-hand side of the wheel are high-quality, custom-made components, likewise the centre console cowling and door panelling on the driver’s side. Another highlight are the removable pads on the sport seat, which are likewise 3D-printed and whose innovative structure combines comfort, robustness and modularity. The thickness, hardness and colour of the pads can be adapted as required according to the physiognomy, weight and personal taste of the driver at hand.

Ready for the race track, helped by knowhow from BMW Motorsport.
Behind the visually powerful design of the MINI Electric Pacesetter inspired by JCW lies the expertise of BMW Motorsport. Rigorous adherence to lightweight design principles gives the Safety Car a kerb weight of approx. 1,230 kg – which makes it approx. 130 kg lighter than the standard MINI Electric.

The drive system – also based on that found in the MINI Electric – produces 135 kW and 280 Nm (206 lb-ft), which enables the MINI Electric Pacesetter inspired by JCW to sprint from 0-62 mph in 6.7 seconds (standard model: 7.3 s) and from 0-37 mph in 3.6 seconds (standard model: 3.9 s). Even more important for a Safety Car, though, are the mid-range figures. Here, the MINI Electric Pacesetter inspired by JCW showcases all the talents of its torque-rich electric drive system with single-speed transmission, enabling a 75 mph time of 4.3 seconds (standard model: 4.6 s). 

The drive system teams up with racing coilover suspension (three-way adjustable for rebound, compression, height and camber) to deliver maximum go-kart feeling. Race-spec suspension control arm mountings, a 10 mm increase in track width, plus the four-piston brakes and wheels from the MINI John Cooper Works GP with Michelin Pilot Sport tyres (size 245/40 R18) round off the overall package.

Premiere at the Rome E-Prix on 10.04.2021
The MINI Electric Pacesetter inspired by JCW will come into use in Rome on 10 April 2021 at the second event (Race 3) of Formula E’s 2021 season. At the wheel will be official Formula E Safety Car driver Bruno Correia, as BMW i Andretti Motorsport drivers Maximilian Guenther (GER) and Jake Dennis (GBR) battle it out for victory in their BMW iFE.21 racers.

Twenty years after the launch of the modern MINI, the latest model generation moves to the next stage of its evolution, with the MINI 3-Door Hatch, the MINI Electric, the MINI 5-Door Hatch and the MINI Convertible getting fresh new design and technology updates, bringing parity across the line-up.

"With the current model revision, the MINI has reached a level of maturity that makes it more exceptional in the small car segment with regard to design, product substance and premium quality, than ever before," says Bernd Körber, Head of the MINI brand. "The MINI is the original that stands out from the crowd and it continues to reinvent itself again and again."

New exterior look.
The refreshed exterior of the MINI 3-Door Hatch, MINI Electric, MINI 5-Door Hatch and MINI Convertible models looks even more modern, with even more attention now focussed on the car’s central design features. The front-view is dominated by a larger radiator grille and its black, hexagonal surround, and the hallmark round MINI headlights. The position lights have been replaced by vertical air inlets to optimise aerodynamics and the central bumper strip is now in body colour, rather than black. The wheel arch has new contours, the side indicators have been redesigned to feature LED technology and at the back of the car, the fog light is now integrated into the rear apron as a narrow LED unit.

"The new MINI design is more modern – it’s fresher, clearer," says Oliver Heilmer, Head of MINI Design. "All innovations follow a common mission: Purify MINI! Less complexity, more individuality".

Three new exterior paint finishes, five new light-alloy wheels.
Adding to an expansive colour pallet, customers can now choose from three additional exterior body colours. Rooftop Grey is now available on all models, with customers also now able to choose Island Blue (previously only available on MINI Countryman) and the MINI Convertible gets an exclusive colour option with Zesty Yellow.

As part of the Piano Black Exterior option, the door handles, side scuttles, fuel cap, MINI logo on the bonnet and luggage compartment lid and model lettering and tailpipes of the exhaust system are now finished in high-gloss black, in addition to the surrounds of the headlights, radiator grille and rear lights.

Customers can also choose from five new wheels across all models, with Tentacle Spoke black design, Scissor Spoke (previously available on MINI Sidewalk Convertible only) and Pedal Spoke now being offered in 17-inch wheels. Pulse Spoke design and John Cooper Works wheels in Circuit Spoke black design are now offered in 18-inch options.

Each roof is unique: The Multitone Roof.
An innovative and unique roof-paint finish is offered on the MINI 3-Door Hatch, MINI Electric and the MINI 5-Door Hatch. The new Multitone Roof features a colour gradient from San Marino Blue through Pearly Acqua to Jet Black, created with a new painting technique. The three colour shades are applied one after the other in a wet-on-wet painting process, a paint finish called Spray Tech, which is fully integrated into the mechanised production process at MINI Plant Oxford. Slight deviations in the colour pattern occur due to changing environmental conditions during the painting process, so every MINI with a Multitone Roof is completely unique.

"The new Multitone Roof for the MINI is not only the most expressive form of contrast paint to date, it also takes the brand's hallmark ex-works customisation options to a new level," says Oliver Heilmer, Head of MINI Design. "And because every roof looks a little bit different and is so unique, it pays to look more closely than ever."

Dark headlights, brightly illuminated roads.
The inner housing of the round headlight is now offered in black, instead of the previous chrome, and a circular light band takes on the function of the daytime running lights and indicators.

Optional Adaptive LED headlights provide cornering light, matrix high-beam and bad weather light functions. When turning, a separate light beam automatically falls on the lane where the driver is heading and the matrix function provides four segments that can activate and deactivate independently to avoid dazzling other road users. When visibility is limited, the bad weather light acts as a dimmed cornering light to better illuminate the road.

Interior: Clear design, high-quality finish.
The redesigned interior of the MINI 3-Door Hatch, MINI Electric, MINI 5-Door Hatch and MINI Convertible is sophisticated and modern. An 8.8-inch colour touchscreen display and Piano Black high-gloss surface are now standard and the audio control unit and function buttons for hazard warning lights and driver assistance systems are integrated more harmoniously into the circular control unit.

Chrome elements have been significantly reduced throughout the interior with the two outer air outlets framed by black panels. The internal air vents have been completely redesigned and are now embedded to be flush with the interior surface.

Sports leather steering wheel and digital cockpit.
A newly-designed sports leather steering wheel with multifunction buttons will be part of the standard equipment of all model variants of the MINI 3-Door Hatch, MINI Electric, MINI 5-Door Hatch and MINI Convertible. A new structure for the keypads optimises operation of the audio and telephone functions, voice control and driver assistance systems.

The digital display behind the steering wheel, already offered on the MINI John Cooper Works GP and MINI Electric, is now offered as part of the Navigation Plus Pack on all new MINI 3-Door Hatch, MINI 5-Door Hatch and MINI Convertible models. The digital display in black panel design has a 5-inch diameter and shows key driving information, check-control messages and status displays of the driver assistance systems. In the MINI Electric, it also serves as a charging status indicator while connected to the power grid.

Choice of display colours and mood lighting: The new "Lounge" and "Sport” modes.
There is a choice of two colour schemes for the central instrument and digital cockpit displays, which can be selected in the control system menu. In "Lounge" mode, the content is displayed in a relaxing colour setting ranging between turquoise and petrol blue. If "Sport" mode is active, the screen backgrounds are red and anthracite.

In conjunction with the new Ambient Light option, the colour worlds of the displays can also be combined with the interior light control. There is a choice of six interior light colours for each of the two modes "Lounge" and "Sport". They can each be set using a toggle switch located in the upper area of the windscreen frame. Corresponding coloured light is then emitted from the laser-engraved LED ring of the central instrument, from the now indirectly illuminated undersides of the interior surfaces, along the contours of the door panels, at the driver's and passenger's door openers, from the base of the roof as well as in the front area of the centre console and in the foot wells. Ambient Light also illuminates the door handles and the entry areas on the driver and passenger sides.

Go-kart feeling redefined: Adaptive suspension optimising the balance between sportiness and comfort.
A new version of Adaptive Suspension, available for the first time on MINI, redefines the brand’s hallmark go-kart feeling. It achieves a noticeably optimised balance between sportiness and ride comfort through the use of continuous frequency-selective damping. An additional valve acting on the traction side takes over the task of smoothing out sudden pressure peaks within the damper. The damper force is adjusted within 50 to 100 milliseconds and depending on the driving situation and road conditions, the damping forces can be reduced by up to 50 percent.

An electric parking brake comes as standard on the MINI Electric and is also now available in the other model variants, in conjunction with an automatic transmission, the optional Driving Assistant and at least 17-inch light-alloy wheels.

Staying on course at all times: Lane departure warning and the new Active Cruise Control
The optional Driver Assistance Pack ensures maximum comfort and safety. The new lane departure warnings help the driver stay safely on their chosen course with the system registering markings at the edge of the lane and alerting the driver via steering wheel vibration if there is a risk of deviation. This pack also includes Active Cruise Control, which now also offers a Stop & Go function in conjunction with an automatic transmission. It automatically maintains the desired speed and the distance to vehicles ahead in four stages. The system uses data registered by the front camera, installed in the upper part of the windscreen frame, to adjust speed and distance according to the situation.

Classic, Sport and Exclusive get upgraded.
The MINI Classic, Sport & Exclusive trim packages have also been extended, offering customers a wider choice of exterior body colours, safety features and upholstery. Sport models now offer Intelligent Adaptive Suspension as standard, Piano Black Exterior, Chilli Red body colour, additional John Cooper Works badging and Dinamica Leather upholstery. Rear Park Distance Control is also included as standard.

Customers choosing the Exclusive trim, will now benefit from Enigmatic Black exterior colour, Anthracite Headlining, Rear Park Distance Control and Driving Modes. The MINI Yours Union Jack Soft-top roof on the MINI Convertible is standard.

A handful of individual options have been added to the line-up for the MINI Electric, allowing customers to further personalise their choice of Level 1, Level 2 or Level 3. For customers selecting Level 2, they can now add Roof Rails, Active Cruise Controller and Sun Protection Glass, as well as the new Piano Black Exterior. Those opting for Level 3 also have the option of adding Satellite Grey Leather upholstery.

Electric Collection
Alongside the Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 models offered on the MINI Electric, an exclusive Electric Collection model is introduced, limited to just 300 customers in the UK. The Electric Collection is a fixed specification model and the only way to access new exterior paint choices on a MINI Electric. Based on the Level 3 model, it can be specified in either Island Blue or Rooftop Grey and comes with Multitone Roof, black mirror caps, Piano Black Exterior and 17-inch Electric Collection Spoke wheels, alongside model-exclusive exterior graphics.

In addition to the high standard specification of Level 3, the Electric Collection model includes unique door entry strips and steering wheel badging, Aluminium Interior trim and a zero-cost option to add a Panoramic Glass Sunroof.

New operating system with modern graphics display.
The operating system of the MINI 3-Door Hatch, MINI Electric, MINI 5-Door Hatch and MINI Convertible is now more advanced than ever before thanks to a new graphics display and further developed options for selecting and controlling the vehicle functions, audio system, hands-free telephone system, navigation and apps.  The screen display with symbols and text on new colour backgrounds has a modern look and menu items are now displayed as "live widgets" to be called up by swiping the touchscreen. Advanced connectivity features, audio and navigation features are available in optional packs, which have also been extended.

Navigation Pack offers customers a Navigation system, Apple Car Play and Real Time Track Information (RTTI) whilst Navigation Plus now also includes Head-up Display and Wireless Charging and Concierge Services. Comfort Pack now includes Comfort Access alongside Automatic Air-Con, Seat Heating, Storage Pack and Front Armrest.

Always connected to your MINI: The new MINI App.
The new MINI App offers an advanced user experience that is completely oriented towards a digital lifestyle, allowing drivers to contact their MINI at any time, in order to call up information on the car's status. Fuel levels or charge status can be seen quickly and you can send navigation destinations directly from your smartphone to the car.

Engines with MINI TwinPower Turbo Technology and Euro 6d emission standard.
Powerful and efficient petrol engines with three or four cylinders constitute the drive portfolio for the MINI 3-Door Hatch, the MINI 5-Door Hatch and the MINI Convertible. Their MINI TwinPower Turbo technology is made up of a turbocharging unit integrated into the exhaust manifold, direct petrol injection and variable valve timing. The 3-cylinder engines, each with a capacity of 1.5 litres, are available in two versions, with outputs ranging from 75 kW/102 hp to 100 kW/136 hp. The 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine generates a maximum output of 131 kW/178 hp or 170 kW/231 hp in the two John Cooper Works models. Thanks to consistently optimised emission control technology, which includes a petrol engine particulate filter, all model variants comply with the Euro 6d emission standard.

The combustion engines of the MINI 3-Door Hatch, MINI 5-Door Hatch and MINI Convertible are combined with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard.

With its 135 kW/184 hp electric motor, the MINI Electric provides emission-free driving fun. Power is transmitted via a single-stage automatic transmission. The high-voltage lithium-ion battery, located deep in the vehicle floor, has a gross energy content of 32.6 kWh, enabling a range of up to 145 miles as determined in the WLTP test cycle.

MINI Electric: 135 kW/184 hp, 0 – 62mph in 7.3 seconds, top speed: 93mph, energy consumption (weighted): 3.9-4.1 miles/kWh (15.9-15.2 kWh/100 km), CO₂ emissions: 0 g/km, range according to WLTP: up to 145 miles.
