MINI continues its tradition of community support with the 2026 ‘Mile of MINI’ annual charity road rally, now championing the important work of the STOP.BREATHE.THINK charity organisation. Taking place on 26th April, this year’s event saw a vibrant convoy of MINIs—spanning all eras, colours and models—travel from MINI Plant Oxford, the home of the brand, to MINI UK HQ in Farnborough.

STOP.BREATHE.THINK, the rally’s chosen charity for 2026, is dedicated to supporting children and young people facing mental health challenges. The organisation provides resources, direct support, and safe spaces for young people to pause, reflect, and seek help when navigating difficult emotional experiences. By partnering with STOP.BREATHE.THINK, MINI aims to help raise awareness and funds for vital mental health initiatives, making a tangible difference to young lives across the UK.

As is always the case, the team at MINI Plant Oxford showcased some of their special models from the award-winning on-site exhibition. This year’s event featured some highlights such as the MINI XXL, which is based on a 2004 MINI Cooper but stretched to a whopping 6.3 metres and includes six wheels and a hot-tub at the rear. The striking Dsquared² Red Mudder also made an appearance, which features rugged front bull bars and rally lights, located behind the front guard as well as on the roof. It also features black wheel arches, a roof rack and tinted side windows, as well as a spare tyre on the boot. These, together with its raised chassis and deep-tread all-terrain tyres ensure this MINI stands out from the crowd.

The 1 millionth BMW Group-era MINI was also on display for guests to enjoy. The car rolled off the production line at MINI Plant Oxford in April 2007, marking a remarkable milestone in the brand’s modern history. The colour of the landmark MINI Cooper S is Pepper White with a specially developed paint for the roof and wheels, Almond Green, accentuated by a graphic extending onto the bonnet which features over one million MINI Cooper outlines making up the bonnet stripe. The interior matches the roof with leather seats, steering wheel and gearknob all in Almond Green leather.

Upon arrival at MINI UK HQ, the convoy lined up for a spectacular display before the grand total of over £9,500 raised for STOP.BREATHE.THINK was announced. This equates to 300 counselling sessions for children and young people with poor mental health.

MINI Plant Oxford, renowned as one of the world’s oldest continuously operating automotive facilities, has been manufacturing vehicles since 1913. It stands at the forefront of technological innovation and sustainable practices in car production.

The fully electric MINI Cooper - which has already been awarded 5 stars in the Euro NCAP crash testing in March 2025 - has once again received outstanding recognition from the esteemed Euro NCAP institute: the "Best in Class for Safest City & Supermini of the Year 2025." This prestigious award emphasises MINI's leading position in safety within the premium small car segment. With its three variants - MINI Cooper E, MINI Cooper SE, and MINI John Cooper Works Electric - the model impresses not only with its electric drive technology and characteristic go-kart feeling, but also with its comprehensive standard safety equipment.

This award is another compelling confirmation that MINI models offer outstanding safety. Euro NCAP praises the consistent advancement in occupant protection, active and passive safety systems, as well as innovative driver assistance technologies that make urban driving safer. The fully electric MINI Cooper features an integrated safety concept with comprehensive occupant protection, standard pelvic seatbelt pretensioners, and a wide range of assistance systems to prevent accidents.

Protection of pedestrians and cyclists also achieves a very high score for this vehicle class, tallying 77 percent in the 2025 Euro NCAP crash test. Safety ratings are also outstanding with 89 percent in occupant protection, 87 percent in child safety, and 79 percent in safety assist systems.

The combination of top-level safety, driving enjoyment, and iconic design makes the second generation of the fully electric MINI Cooper the ideal vehicle for today’s demands of urban mobility.

All-new BMW iX3 honoured as Carwow’s Tech Trailblazer .
Premiering a broad spectrum of innovations and new technologies, the all-new BMW iX3 was honoured as Carwow’s Tech Trailblazer at the publication’s annual Car of the Year Awards. Judges were impressed with the SAV’s advancements, with Mat Watson, Chief Content Officer at Carwow, commenting, “Most new cars barely nudge at the needle of progress, but the new BMW iX3 pushes it so far along that it’s basically tied itself into a knot. Its sophisticated underpinnings offer hyper-fast charging, a massive battery allowing over 500 miles of range and a minimalist but rich digital experience.”

Arriving as the first series-produced Neue Klasse model, the BMW iX3 marks a significant milestone for BMW Group in the company’s journey towards enhanced electrification, digitalisation and circularity. “The new BMW iX3 is a car to get excited about, not just for what it is, but for what it represents - the march of progress.” Watson continued.

BMW 7 Series named Best Luxury Car for the third consecutive year at the Parkers New Car Awards 2026.
Now in its ninth year, the Parkers New Car Awards reflect the ever-changing needs of Britain’s car-buying public, where winners are selected based on a combination of expert reviews and consumer purchasing trends. Following this year’s ceremony, the BMW 7 Series continues its reign as Parkers’ Best Luxury Car, leading the category for the third consecutive year.

Introduced in 2022, the latest-generation BMW 7 Series continues to demonstrate why it is regarded as the ultimate luxury saloon, combining “comfort, innovation and sophistication” to portray the “ultimate expression of modern luxury.” Parkers judges paid tribute to the model’s “class, comfort and poise” alongside its versatility – offering “masses of appeal for businesses, drivers and, most importantly, the VIP in the back.”

Triple victory for BMW Group UK at the Auto Express Used Car Awards.
Auto Express recently announced its favourite used cars for 2025, where the BMW 3 Series was crowned overall Used Car of the Year. Utilising the industry-leading Driver Power survey, the annual awards help customers identify the best used cars across a range of categories.

In addition to claiming the headline accolade, the BMW 3 Series also topped the Best Compact Executive Car category, “proving it’s a car that has everything”, said Paul Barker, Editor of Auto Express. “It drives well, is practical and well-equipped and best answers the question where Auto Express team would spend their own money.” With its diverse lineup of powertrains and body styles, “From efficient diesels to hybrids or high-power petrol models, and saloon or Touring estate, there’s a 3 Series for everyone,” he added.

The MINI Convertible was also firm favourite, retaining its position as Best Used Convertible. Auto Express’ “champion drop-top” impressed with its “cheeky looks and great handling.” It’s a car “that easily puts a smile on your face,” Barker concluded.

BMW 3 Series awarded Premium Used Car of the Year at Motor Trader Industry Awards.
Adding a further award to its cabinet, the BMW 3 Series was unveiled as Premium Used Car of the Year at the annual Motor Trader Industry Awards. The judging panel described the BMW 3 Series as “the ‘gold standard’ for affordable, driver-focused transport in the premium segment”, praising its “brilliantly connected driving experience” and versatile selection of powertrains.

Success for BMW Group at the Autovista Residual Value Awards.
BMW Group collected three accolades at the 2025 Autovista Residual Value Awards. Evaluated across seventeen European countries and based on insightful data, these awards recognise vehicles that demonstrate excellent value retention across a number of categories.

The BMW 1 Series topped the Compact Car category, “attracting buyers with its promise of premium quality, sporty driving dynamics, and advanced technology”, said Autovista. Meanwhile, MINI secured two titles, as the MINI Aceman emerged as best Small BEV, and the MINI Cooper retained its position as leader of the Small Car category. The MINI Aceman was described as “a fresh and fashionable entry into the premium small BEV market”, while the MINI Cooper was commended for its reputation as “fun to drive”, combined with a “high-quality interior and extensive customisation options.”

BMW Group secures two headline accolades at the Fleet News FN50 Awards.
Widely recognised as setting the standard for industry excellence, the annual Fleet News FN50 Awards acknowledge success and innovation across the UK’s automotive sector. This year, BMW Group triumphed securing both headline awards: Most Reliable Carmaker and Most Reliable Car - awarded to the BMW 3 Series.

Reflecting on BMW Group’s success, Andrew Jago, General Manager, Corporate Sales BMW Group UK commented, “Once again, data from the UK’s 50 largest leasing companies has confirmed BMW Group as the most reliable carmaker based on breakdown and warranty claims. Based on scores achieved during its annual Visitor Attraction Quality Scheme assessment, a Gold accolade was awarded for demonstrating excellence, quality and an “amazing visitor experience”, whilst acknowledging “the people who give the warmest welcomes”.

Combining MINI's distinctive appearance with Paul Smith's remarkable design language, the new MINI Paul Smith Edition marks the next step in the successful collaboration between two British icons.

A partnership grounded in shared values of craftsmanship, creativity and innovation, the new MINI Paul Smith Edition follows in the footsteps of the original Paul Smith Classic Mini from 1998, the MINI STRIP in 2021 and the MINI Recharged by Paul Smith from 2022.

Launching first with the MINI Cooper Electric and closely followed by the MINI Cooper 3-Door, 5-Door and Cooper Convertible, the British designer onboards his design language mantra ‘classic with a twist’ to the latest MINI Paul Smith Edition. The MINI Paul Smith Edition will celebrate its world premiere at the Japan Mobility Show on 29 October 2025.

Speaking on the introduction of the new MINI Paul Smith Edition, Sir Paul Smith comments “It’s not often that you see two icons of British design work together in this way and it’s wonderful that our partnership has carried on over so many years. The MINI Paul Smith Edition has been a real privilege and a wonderful opportunity… new colours and new unexpected details will be a welcomed surprise.”

The new MINI Paul Smith Edition showcases the familiar MINI design language with an influx of Paul Smith styling details throughout both the exterior and interior, bringing together the shared history of MINI and Paul Smith into the present day.

Holger Hampf, Head of MINI Design, comments “MINI and Paul Smith embody a shared mindset of positivity, embracing the motto of this edition: ‘Every day is a new beginning.’ Our collaboration celebrates a mutual love for design and meticulous attention to detail. Unexpected elements such as the ‘hello’ projection on the ground and Paul Smith’s handwritten inscription bring a smile to your face right upon entering the car.”

Familiar MINI exterior design with a further British twist:
The new MINI Paul Smith Edition is offered with three exterior paint choices – two of which are introduced exclusively for this edition. Statement Grey is a modern interpretation of the classic Mini Austin Seven colour from 1959 – a clear, bluish-tinted grey shade – while Inspired White is a contemporary homage to the popular Classic Mini Beige shade. The final paint colour, Midnight Black, can already be specified accross the MINI Family.

Two roof variants - a specially created Nottingham Green (a homage to Sir Paul’s birthplace) or Jet Black – characterise the edition, alongside Nottingham Green wing mirror caps and bordering to the octagonal front grille. To further compliment the roof, a Paul Smith ‘Signature Stripe’ can be found for those who chose the Nottingham Green option, and for Jet Black customers, elegant gloss and matt black stripes.

Other exterior details include a handwritten Sir Paul Smith ‘hello’ puddle light projected from the door mirrors and signature on the rear of the model, while the MINI logo has been given a newly designed Black/Blue colour combination for this Edition. 18-inch Night Spoke alloy wheels in Dark Steel complete with Nottingham Green centre caps displaying Paul Smith lettering complete the exterior design of this Edition.

Thoughtful signature styling: Inside the MINI Paul Smith Edition.
Moving inside, there are numerous Paul Smith details throughout. Upon entering the car, the driver and front passenger will be greeted with Smith’s handwritten motto ‘Everyday is a new beginning’ on the door sills, while a graphic of a hand-drawn rabbit by Paul Smith can be found on the front floormat.

The familiar knitted dashboard and door panels of the MINI Cooper have been tweaked to include Paul Smith tone-on-tone striped patterns to add a subtle, yet striking addition to the interior.

The steering wheel showcases the same Black/Blue coloured MINI logo, while the bottom of the steering wheel sits the iconic Paul Smith ‘Signature Stripe’ alongside the Paul Smith wordmark.

Vescin sports seats - finished in Nightshade Blue - showcase the familiar Paul Smith stripes spread across the top of the seats with a stitched Paul Smith logo and blue stitching which can be found across the seats and steering wheel.

Further key touchpoints inside the Edition such as door handles, speaker grilles, steering wheel surrounds and cup holders, are all finished in Dark Steel, bringing together the hero colour palette of the new MINI Paul Smith Edition.

A history of MINI and Paul Smith.
As familiar collaborators, this partnership has always been a tribute to creative expression and individuality, perfectly embodying the essence and character of both brands. The joint creative success story began in 1998, when the designer created a limited edition of the classic Mini: a specially created “Paul Smith Blue” colour and matching anthracite-coloured alloy wheels lent the iconic model the signature of Paul Smith.

In 1999, as a celebration of the 40^th birthday for the classic Mini, a one-off example was dipped in Sir Paul's characteristic stripe design, showcasing 86 stripes in 26 colours and remains a key visual cue for the Paul Smith brand.

In 2021, MINI celebrated the world premiere of the MINI STRIP, a custom-made, one-off model co-created by Paul Smith and MINI, shining the spotlight on sustainability in automotive design and manufacturing. The joint design process applied the principles of maximum reduction, to produce a minimalist, high-class design with a fresh and unconventional appeal.

Most recently in 2022, the British designer converted his classic Mini from the 1998 collaboration and reinvented the model by installing an electric motor to replace the combustion powered engine. Paul Smith MINI Collection:
Creativity flows in both directions - Paul Smith finds inspiration in MINI, just as MINI looks to the designer for cues in exclusive pieces in his collections. To celebrate the launch of the latest edition, Paul Smith will debut a collection of capsule bags, inspired by key details from the latest MINI collaboration.

The Paul Smith Edition will be priced from £32,705 OTR, with first customer deliveries expected in Spring 2026. The edition will make its world premiere at the Japan Mobility Show on 29 October 2025.

Munich / Tokyo. The Japan Mobility Show 2025 becomes the stage for the latest milestone in the long-standing collaboration between MINI and British designer Paul Smith. It will be unveiled as part of the BMW Group Keynote on 29 October 2025 at 09:55 (JST) at the BMW Group stand, based in the West Exhibition Hall of the show.

MINI and Paul Smith: A creative success story.
The MINI Paul Smith Edition is a new chapter in the success story of the two British brands. The long-lasting relationship began in 1998, when the designer wrapped a Classic Mini Cooper in his trademark visual design. To mark the 40th anniversary of the Classic Mini in 1999, the designer lent his characteristic Paul Smith "Signature Stripe" to a one-off model. After two further one-offs - the MINI Strip in 2021 and the MINI Recharged by Paul Smith in 2022 - Paul Smith's design language returns to MINI.

MINI model portfolio.
As part of the BMW Group stand at the Japan Mobility Show, MINI is presenting the diverse range of its current product portfolio. The MINI Cooper family is represented by showcasing the MINI Cooper SE, which combines heritage, technology and driving pleasure. Whilst providing a fully electric go-kart feeling via the 218 hp electric powertrain. Also present will be the MINI Cooper 5-door S, which combines compact dimensions and agility whilst showcasing increased practicality when compared to its 3-door siblings. Finally, the MINI Countryman S ALL 4 will also be present on the BMW Group stand at the Japan Mobility Show: as the largest of the MINI family, the car offers generous space and fits in perfectly for those looking for longer adventures and spontaneous exploring.

Japan Mobility Show.
The Japan Mobility Show is regarded as one of the most important international platforms for pioneering mobility concepts. From October 29 to November 9, over 130 exhibitors will be presenting their innovations to visitors and press at the Tokyo Big Sight exhibition centre - making the Japanese capital the centre for visions of tomorrow's mobility.

On 26 August 1959, the British Motor Corporation unveiled the first Mini: no one could have guessed at the time what an impact the innovative concept of brilliant British engineer Alec Issigonis would have on the automotive world. Sixty-six years after the launch of the now legendary Classic Mini, the MINI brand looks back on decades of racing success, visionary innovation, groundbreaking design – and unmistakable driving pleasure.

The MINI family combines tradition and modernity.
With the relaunch of the MINI family over the past two years, the brand has once again aligned its pioneering design and historical heritage with the future: with a new, charismatic generation of the MINI Cooper and MINI Countryman, the world premiere of the MINI Aceman, the first crossover model for the premium segment, and the launch of the new MINI Convertible, MINI combines tradition and innovation in the present.

The New John Cooper Works models illustrate MINI's racing expertise and with a spectacular second place in its class at the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring, MINI recently demonstrated how much motorsport is in the brand's DNA.

MINI is excited to announce the new MINI Cooper Electric Monochrome & MINI Aceman Monochrome, available on E derivatives of both models. Offered in a fixed specification, customers can choose between Midnight Black or Nanuq White exterior paintwork, alongside an increased level of standard features across the models including MINI Navigation with Head-Up Display, Wireless Charging and LED Headlights.

Alongside the choice of two colours, both models come with larger wheels as standard; 17” U Spoke Grey alloys on the MINI Cooper Electric Monochrome and 18” Night Flash Spoke Grey alloys on the MINI Aceman Monochrome. Both models also feature a body-coloured roof, creating a seamless look that enhances the overall style of the vehicle.

Moving inside the cabin, a new Anthracite headliner accompanies a brand-new interior pattern debuting on MINI Monochrome models. The new multitone fabric spreads across the front and rear seats, which also feature white and yellow stitching to match the design. The dashboard is draped in a black cloth textile, with the new multitone fabric featuring on the dashboard strap to continue the design throughout the cabin.

Customers benefit from MINI Navigation with Head-Up Display as standard, controlled using the 24cm circular screen, alongside Cruise Control (DCC), Driving Assistant, Parking Assistant and Rear-View Camera. Wireless Charging is also offered, alongside Heated Front Seats and MINI Experience Modes, allowing customers to change the characteristics of the car or cabin based on their mood.

The MINI Cooper Electric Monochrome features a 40.7 kWh battery, providing a range of up to 189 miles*, while the MINI Aceman Monochrome has a larger 42.5 kWh battery which offers an improved range of 192 miles*. Both models support fast DC 75 kW charging for added convenience.

The MINI Cooper Electric Monochrome and MINI Aceman Monochrome are available to order from retailers nationwide now from £26,905 OTR and £28,905 OTR respectively.

Munich. The aim of the Euro NCAP tests is to continuously increase vehicle safety. Both vehicle occupants and other road users should be exposed to an ever-decreasing risk of injury. The long-term intention: "Vision Zero" - that is, zero road fatalities in Europe. Accordingly, the requirements in the tests become stricter year after year. The criteria for the protection of pedestrians and cyclists have been tightened, and the test scenarios for both passive and active safety have been expanded.

A top rating of 5 stars is not common in the segment of fully electric MINI Cooper models. Particularly new vehicles in this category often come up short due to price sensitivity - accordingly, the top rating is awarded rather rarely.

The Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Programme) ratings are a Europe-wide recognised standard for accident safety and are constantly being adapted. They provide a quickly comprehensible comparison of the safety features of a new vehicle. The award of the top rating of 5 stars is exclusively given to new vehicles that provide excellent impact protection and, in addition, a good range of comprehensive and practical technology for accident avoidance.

Excellent: Top rating from Euro NCAP for the electric MINI Cooper models.
The electrically powered MINI Cooper models impress with their performance, the comfortable spaciousness despite compact dimensions, and the new minimalist design. Thanks to the fully electric drivetrain, the legendary go-kart feeling, and the now certified high level of safety, the fifth generation of the charismatic three-door model is perfectly equipped for the demands of today's urban mobility. The combination of sheer driving fun and a high level of safety underscores the exceptional position of the MINI Cooper Electric models in their segment and at the same time the premium claim of the brand.

In addition to passive and active safety, the top rating in the current Euro NCAP test is also due to effective protection for pedestrians and cyclists, as well as effective systems for accident avoidance. New is the standard pelvic belt pretensioner in all fully electric MINI Cooper models, too.

In the four major safety areas, the MINI models achieve top values for their segment. In terms of occupant protection, the three-door model achieves a safety compliance rate of 89% - a value that is usually reserved for larger vehicle classes.

This also applies to the 87% in child safety and the 79% in safety assistants. With 77% in pedestrian protection a very high level of safety I also achieved for compact cars.

The extensive standard equipment with safety-relevant driver assistance systems also plays a decisive role in the top ratings. The passive safety has been further developed in the form of an integrated safety concept.

As early as December 2024, the new MINI Countryman achieved the top rating of 5 stars, underscoring the brand's claim not only to produce extremely attractive, but also particularly safe vehicles.

Following the successful launch of the new MINI family, a range of additions and optional extras are set to further enhance the MINI offering from Spring 2025.

Increasing personalisation across the MINI Cooper, MINI Cooper Convertible and MINI Countryman, customers now have a wider choice of exterior colours and trim combinations, alongside new digital features and improved practicality.

Improved exterior colour range
Giving customers increased options to personalise their new MINI, an improved selection of optional exterior paint colours are now available on petrol powered MINI Cooper, MINI Cooper Convertible and MINI Countryman models, regardless of customer choice between Classic, Sport and Exclusive trim.

MINI Cooper and MINI Cooper Convertible customers now have a choice of nine exterior paint options when building their new model; Legend Grey, Sunnyside Yellow, Ocean Wave Green, Melting Silver, Icy Sunshine Blue, Midnight Black II, Nanuq White, British Racing Green IV & Chili Red. Cooper Convertible customers also benefit from one further optional colour thanks to model exclusive Copper Grey.

For customers building their MINI Countryman, a choice of nine exterior paints are now available: Melting Silver III, Midnight Black II, Nanuq White, British Racing Green, Blazing Blue, Chili Red, Legend Grey, Smokey Green & Slate Blue.

Increased Versatility
MINI Cooper models built from March 1^st onwards now offer increased practicality for those who wish to extend their vehicles storage through a roof box, with the addition of roof rails as an optional extra.

For those who want a breath of fresh air, MINI Cooper Convertible customers can now optionally choose a soft-top roof with our iconic Union Jack design, adding flair to the vehicle when the roof is closed.

Increased practicality for the MINI Countryman
Previously offered on the MINI Countryman S only, a towbar is now offered optionally across all MINI Countryman derivatives, including the MINI Countryman E and SE. Activated using a button within the boot, a towbar further enhances the usability of the vehicle which can tow the following weights:

Improved Digital Features
For vehicles built after March 1^st 2025, Digital Key will now be extended, giving those who share their MINI with friends and family the possibility to add up to 18 keys for each vehicle. Offered through iOS devices including smart watches, Digital Key allows owners to share vehicle access with others to safely unlock, lock and start your MINI when a vehicle key isn’t present.

Further improvements have also been made to the in-vehicle Intelligent Personal Assistant (IPA), offering more accurate recognition for voice command requests and improved responsiveness. A new MINI-specific male voice will also be included to the IPA catalogue.

BMW Group UK is pleased to be celebrating another successful year end, after collecting a variety of awards over the winter months, including accolades from Auto Express, Carwow and Fleet News. Meanwhile, BMW M Motorsport pays homage to a racing-game legend.

The iconic BMW M3 GTR from Need for Speed™: Most Wanted is now a reality.
To commemorate 30 years of the Need for Speed™ racing game franchise, BMW M has brought a virtual icon to reality by recreating the E46 BMW M3 GTR which starred in 2005’s Need for Speed™: Most Wanted. Built by BMW M Motorsport in 2001 and now adorned with a striking silver-blue livery reminiscent of the game’s hero car, this very special M model will feature on display in the BMW Welt in Munich until 6 January 2025.

In addition, gamers can reprise their position behind the wheel of this nostalgia-infused legend as the M3 GTR makes its return in the latest title from EA Games: Need for Speed™ Unbound Vol. 9: Prepare for Lockdown. Players can also look forward to more BMW content in this edition, including the BMW S 1000 RR 2019 motorcycle - the first bike to appear in a Need for Speed™ game.

Triple success for BMW Group at the Auto Express Used Car Awards 2024.
BMW Group was victorious at the Auto Express Used Car Awards 2024, taking home three award wins across a variety of categories. The awards highlight the best used cars across 19 categories including value for money, reliability and driving experience.

MINI was successful in two categories, with the MINI Hatch winning ‘Best Used City Car’ and MINI Convertible taking home ‘Best Used Convertible’. The title praised the retro styling, slick interior, and engaging driving dynamics of the MINI Hatch, commenting “the level of refinement and stability on offer will have drivers convinced that they’re piloting a larger car”. Auto Express also complimented the interior and exterior design of the MINI Convertible, commenting on the generous high-quality materials and refinement of the soft top roof. 

‘Best Used Luxury Car’ went to the BMW 8 Series Gran Coupé, with Auto Express highlighting its superb design, glorious driving experience, fabulous cabin, and brilliant engines as reasons for the win.

BMW does the double at the 2024 Fleet News FN50 Awards.
BMW proudly received both headline awards at the Fleet News FN50 Dinner 2024. Based on data from the UK’s 50 largest leasing companies, BMW was yet again recognised as the overall most reliable car brand, marking the ninth time it has received this distinction. Meanwhile, the BMW 3 Series retained its title as ‘Most Reliable Car Model’ for the fourth consecutive year.

Speaking on the win, Stephen Briers, Editor of Fleet News, said: “It’s a great achievement for BMW to regain its title as the UK’s most reliable car maker this year. FN50 leasing companies operate more than 1.3 million cars, making this one of the largest vehicle reliability surveys of its kind. Earning a spot anywhere on this list is a significant accomplishment, but being named the most reliable is a true testament to a manufacturer’s dedication and hard work in creating vehicles that can be depended on.”

BMW X5 named the ‘Adventurer’s Choice’ at The Carwow Car of the Year Awards.
The Carwow Car of the Year Awards name the best new cars currently available while providing expert car-buying advice to those wanting to reduce their shortlist. This year, the BMW X5 topped the ‘Adventurer’s Choice’ category, as it was commended by Carwow for its “powerful yet efficient engines”, “high-quality interior” and for being “genuinely enjoyable to drive.”

Carwow Chief Content Officer, Mat Watson said, “The BMW X5 is a great choice if you have an outdoorsy lifestyle, because it has space for you, your family and friends as well as all their things. The spacious boot is accessed via a split tailgate, which makes for a great place to sit and remove your wellies, or drink a coffee and soak in the views. Four-wheel drive means it’s useful if you head off the beaten track, too.”

BMW 3 Series voted Premium Used Car of the Year at the 2024 Motor Trader Industry Awards.
Adding a seventh accolade to its 2024 tally, the BMW 3 Series was recently named ‘Premium Used Car of the Year’ at the 34^th annual Motor Trader Industry Awards – a celebration of excellence across motor retailing.

David Beattie, Used Cars Sales Director, BMW Group UK, said, "We at BMW UK are so proud of the 3 Series. To many it represents the heart of the BMW model range. Now in its seventh generation, there is a huge range of 3 Series models on the road in the UK, offering something for every buyer, making it an excellent choice in the used car market. Double win for BMW Group at the Autovista Residual Value Awards.
Informed by data from 17 European markets, the annual Autovista Group Residual Value Awards identify vehicles which represent best-in-class value retention across a range of segments, body types and powertrains. The BMW Group received two awards in 2024, with the BMW i5 and MINI Aceman each outperforming their respective rivals.

The BMW i5 took the top spot in the ‘Compact and Large Battery-Electric Vehicle’ category, just ahead of the BMW i4, which this year placed second after winning the same accolade in 2023. On accepting the award, Nicole Mattig, Head of Corporate Sales for Europe, BMW AG, said, “We are delighted to accept this AutoVista24 Residual Value Award for the BMW i5. Available with an all-electric powertrain for the first time, the eighth-generation BMW 5 Series marries benchmark driving dynamics with an array of innovative technology, including advanced driver assistance systems, the BMW Curved display and My Modes for a customisable driving experience. This, combined with a high level of standard specification, ensures a compelling product offering for our most discerning customers across Europe.”

Meanwhile, the MINI Aceman demonstrated the strongest residual value predictions in the ‘Small Battery-Electric Vehicle’ category, with Autovista Group commending the crossover’s infusion of “typical MINI DNA in terms of style, practicality and premium ambitions.” “Its futuristic look makes it stick out in the segment, while it conserves and upgrades MINI design cues,” judges added.

BMW i5 Touring is GREENFLEET’s Vehicle of the Year.
Rounding off a successful year, the BMW i5 Touring received its fifth 2024 accolade after being named GREENFLEET’s Vehicle of the Year. Presented on 5 December at Coventry Building Society Arena, the GREENFLEET Awards recognise the businesses, fleets and individuals committed to transport decarbonisation.

Commenting on the win, Angela Pisanu, Editor of GREENFLEET said, "The BMW i5 Touring was crowned GREENFLEET's Vehicle of the Year for 2024 for its rewarding driving dynamic, build quality, technological innovation, and impressive range of up to 343 miles. Offering long-distance comfort with high levels of driver engagement, the i5 Touring was our worthy winner."

The MINI Cooper has been announced as The Sun’s Car of the Year 2024 at their annual awards ceremony.

Launched earlier this year, the MINI Cooper was praised for both its innovative in car technology and iconic handling, with Motors Editor, Rob Gill, commenting; “The MINI Cooper is hands-down our favourite new buy from our head and heart. Classier inside and out, with a less is more approach, and that dinner plate-sized touchscreen carries the same cutting-edge tech as a £100k BMW. Mega fun to drive, as it always has been”.

Judges went on to compliment the vehicles UK based manufacturing; “The icing on the cake is that MINI is a homegrown hero. The petrol engines are made at BMW Group Hams Hall, the body panels in Swindon, and the whole thing is put together at MINI Plant Oxford. British engineering at its best” Gill continued.

The win builds on a successful year for the brand, launching an entirely new generation of models across the whole MINI family. With clean exterior design, a world-first circular OLED display and innovative new interior materials, the MINI Cooper is the icon reimagined.

The round central instrument with OLED display combines all vehicle information and, in addition to innovative assistance systems for navigation and vehicle control, includes convenient operating functions for the driver and all occupants. In addition, the OLED display in all models of the new MINI family offers another digital innovation. Mattel, Inc., AirConsole, and MINI have added in-car gaming in the new MINI Family with UNO, the world’s #1 traditional games property. Following the success of the previous BMW integration, stationary drivers can connect any passenger to UNO Car Party! via the infotainment system, using their personal devices for up to four players. UNO’s simple, universal gameplay, transcending languages and cultures, brings people together in a new entertainment experience in the car. Vehicles must be in park to enable gameplay.After the exciting pit stop game, it's back on the road in the new MINI Cooper C — agile, aerodynamically optimised and effective.

The four trim variants Essential, Classic, Favoured and JCW added the individual look of the MINI Cooper C with a wide range of equipment options. For varied contrasts, the exterior colors can be combined with one of four roof colors and thus provide opportunities for individual characteristics.

The MINI Cooper C: Efficient drive and safe comfort.
The 115 kW/156 hp three-cylinder engine of the MINI Cooper C (combined fuel consumption: 6.2 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 140 g/km in accordance with WLTP) achieves a torque of 230 Nm and accelerates the vehicle from standstill to 100 km/h in 7.7 seconds. The precisely coordinated suspension and damping system guarantees the British premium small car agile handling — whether in city traffic or on curved country roads. Powerful brakes and direct steering ensure safety, comfort and driving pleasure in equal measure.

Numerous assistance systems for safe and comfortable driving.
The new MINI Operating System 9 is intuitive and easy to operate. Thanks to the unique OLED display and the voice-controlled MINI Intelligent Personal Assistant, occupants have more control, connectivity and personalization than ever before. MINI Navigation helps you navigate through 3D visualization and augmented view and, in addition to current information on traffic conditions, also provides information on free parking spaces including an integrated digital payment option and much more. Camera and radar-based assistance functions increase safety and, if required, assist with steering and lane keeping. In city traffic, stop-and-go situations can be handled confidently thanks to automatic speed and distance management.

Oxford. This summer MINI Plant Oxford is supporting OxTrail 2024 - an  exciting Oxfordshire initiative organised by local charity Sobell House Hospice to raise important funds for their work.

The trail sees a series of Ox sculptures placed around Oxfordshire, with each having being individually designed by either an artist or local school. Following their design, expert associates at MINI Plant Oxford then hand-sprayed the sculptures with a glossy and protective clear coat to ensure a flawless finish.

From 6th July - 29th August, the OxTrail sculptures will be on display around Oxfordshire for visitors to enjoy. Following this, each sculpture will be auctioned off with proceeds going to support the incredible work of Sobell House Hospice. 

Sobell House Hospice offers specialist palliative care for those facing life-threatening illness, death and bereavement. They care for around 3,000 people a year, with their mission to enrich the lives of patients and their loved ones.

Speaking on the collaboration between OxTrail 2024 and the Paint Shop, Plant Director of Plants Oxford and Swindon, Dr. Markus Grüneisl, said "We're thrilled to have lent our paint shop services to the OxTrail. This brilliant initiative helps raise vital funds for Sobell House Hospice, and it's been great to see the MINI team spirit in full flow as our associates have supported the project."

Associates at MINI Plant Oxford have gone one step further, creating their very own unique Ox sculpture for the trail. Choosing Ocean Wave Green as their base colour, the hooves, tail and horns are painted in colors from the MINI family including Sunnyside Yellow and British Racing Green. 

Michael Lambe, Paint Shop Process Engineer who was responsibile for clear coating the Oxen explained, “The lacquering process is quite unique. Compared to the MINI, with its flowing lines and classic look, the oxen are a whole different animal! Using our ox-pertise, we’ve been able to apply a coat that really makes their artistic design shine.”

Artists from around the county have designed and painting their own Oxen including Oxfordshire based children’s illustrator kOrky Paul, known for the Winnie the Witch books, and local artist and rapper, Rawz who worked on the production line at Plant Oxford in 2006.

Beth Marsh, Director of Fundraising at Sobell House Hospice remarked, “The partnership we have developed between Sobell House Hospice and MINI Plant Oxford is one that strengthens our connections to the wider Oxford Community. We’re extremely excited to unveil OxTrail 2024, with this initiative enabling us to ultimately reach more patients.”

The Hospice first started operating in 1976 and has remained a staple of the community ever since. Plant Oxford is honoured to be able to offer its services to the Sobell House Hospice and OxTrail 2024.

BMW integrates a new Personal eSIM solution across its model portfolio and forges a partnership with Manchester Airports Group to elevate the airport passenger journey through premium chauffeur-driven experiences. Meanwhile, the brand’s winning streak continues, with both the BMW 5 Series and BMW iX securing accolades at recent awards. MINI also celebrated success, as the all-new MINI Cooper Electric was crowned as Top Gear’s ‘Best EV Supermini’ at their 2024 Electric Car Awards. The BMW Vision Neue Klasse was honoured with T3’s prestigious Design Award in June, while the BMW 3 Series and BMW 8 Series received top titles at cap hpi’s Used Car of the Year Awards.

BMW offers UK customers increased connectivity through Personal eSIM solution.
At the end of April, BMW announced the integration of Transatel’s Ubigi global Personal eSIM solution across its model portfolio. By activating their Personal eSIM, BMW customers in the UK can now enjoy additional infotainment features and unlimited WiFi connectivity in their vehicle using Ubigi’s 5G UK data plan.

Depending on the model, this service enables the in-vehicle WiFi-Hotspot, video streaming services on the central instrument cluster and is particularly useful in conjunction with the Theatre Screen of the BMW i7 and BMW 7 Series, offering a variety of entertainment powered by Amazon Fire TV.

Owners can conveniently configure their Personal eSIM via the My BMW App and subscribe to Ubigi’s UK data plan, priced at £10 per month. This service is available for BMW vehicles with Operating Systems 8, 8.5 and 9* and equipped with the optional Personal eSIM.

BMW Vision Neue Klasse wins T3 Design Award.
The BMW Vision Neue Klasse won T3’s prestigious Design Award in June, celebrating the Vision Vehicle’s innovative and forward-thinking design. Introduced to the T3 Awards in 2022, the design awards recognise products that combine functionality with elegant aesthetics. The BMW Vision Neue Klasse, a fully electric vision car which paves the way for the next-generation of electric BMW models impressed the judges with both its aesthetics and advanced technology. Notable features include the Panoramic Vision head-up display which is visible to all occupants, and minimalistic yet elegant design including such as headlights integrated into the grille, e-ink door handles, and an embossed BMW logo on the bonnet.

BMW partners with CAVU to provide premium chauffeur-driven experiences at aether, The Private Terminal exclusively at Manchester Airport .
BMW has announced a new partnership with CAVU (owned by Manchester Airports Group) to help revolutionise the airport passenger journey. Through this alliance, travellers can enjoy a truly premium experience as they are chauffeured airside using a fleet of luxury BMW vehicles.

The fleet, comprising the all-electric BMW i7, the seven-seater BMW X7 and the high-performance BMW XM, will be used to seamlessly transport passengers from aether – the new Private Terminal, exclusively at Manchester Airport – to and from their aircraft.

Situated in a contemporary, self-contained space, completely separated from the main airport terminal, aether boasts a dining experience by Adam Reid, panoramic runway views, and dedicated staff to attend to guests’ needs. The new terminal opens Monday 4 November and will be available to all** travellers at Manchester Airport as a purchasable service.

Triple victory for the BMW 5 Series and a win for the BMW iX at recent awards .
After an impressive start to 2024, the BMW 5 Series continues its winning streak. Upholding its reputation as the world’s most successful business saloon, it emerged victorious at the Business Motoring and Great British Fleet awards.

The Business Motoring Awards, a valuable reference for SMEs and vehicle operators, celebrate best-in-class suppliers and vehicles. At the 2024 awards, the BMW 5 Series secured both the ‘Best Executive Car’ and ‘Best Company Car’ titles. The model also received commendation from Fleet World at their 2024 Great British Fleet Awards, taking the top spot as ‘Best Fleet Executive Car. Judges praised the model’s performance, comfort and interior quality as “an impressive package”, commenting, “The new 5 Series once again raises the standard in this class and continues to be viewed as the ultimate driving machine.”

Also offered with an all-electric drive as the BMW i5, the eighth generation BMW 5 Series fuses progressive technology with sophisticated styling and hallmark driving pleasure. With these recent acknowledgements, the latest iteration has now accumulated an impressive 13 accolades since its introduction in October last year.

Meanwhile, the BMW iX secured its 16th accolade as ‘Best Business Lease Car’ at the inaugural Leasing.com Awards. The recently established awards are designed to celebrate and recognise excellence in the products and services available within the leasing sector.

On presenting the award, Leasing.com commented, “With awesome real-world range and a cabin that’s a pleasure to spend time in, it’s little surprise that the BMW iX won out when it comes to the Best Business Lease Car category. The importance of premium plug-in power for business users can’t be overstated.” Judges were particularly impressed by the fully-electric SAV’s “innovative design” and “cutting-edge technology,” describing it as “the perfect option for forward-thinking business users that want to make a statement.”

MINI Cooper Electric crowned Top Gear’s ‘Best EV Supermini ’.
Following its launch earlier this month, the all-new MINI Cooper Electric has been awarded ‘Best EV Supermini’ by Top Gear as part of their Electric Awards. Kickstarted in 2019, the annual awards exist to credit the best EVs in the world across an array of categories.

The MINI Cooper Electric was commended by Top Gear for its spacious interior and driving dynamics, with Jason Barlow, Editor-at-large, commented, “Around town the MINI is all the car you’d ever need. The three-door is roomy enough in the back for a six-footer to sit behind another lanky soul – provided the seat is pulled forward. Late night, long way home the Cooper SE risks feeling like a high-tech toy but at heart it’s still a fizzy driving machine Barlow summarises, “Fundamentally, this is a great little car, overflowing with personality, that just happens to be electric.”

Available in two output levels - E and SE - and three well-specified trims - Classic, Exclusive, and Sport – the fifth generation MINI 3-door remains the icon of the MINI family and represents a giant leap for the MINI brand.

BMW 3 Series and BMW 8 Series named winners at cap hpi’s Used Car of the Year Awards .
In June, automotive data company cap hpi announced the winners of its Used Car of the Year Awards for 2024, recognising excellence across a range of categories. The BMW 3 Series was named Upper Medium Car of the Year while the BMW 8 Series secured Executive Car of the Year. The awards follow an extensive data-led judging process that reviewed various factors, including residual value performance and new car registrations.

A few months after the launch of the three-door, the five-door Cooper now joins the new MINI family. With extended space and innovative in-car technology, the new MINI Cooper 5 Door is offered with two efficient petrol engines that deliver hallmark MINI go-kart feeling.

At 4,036mm in length, 1,744mm in width and a height of 1,464 mm, the MINI Cooper 5 Door is almost identical in dimension to its predecessor. Its wheelbase is 72mm longer and 172mm longer than the MINI Cooper 3 Door, giving passengers increased comfort and space.

Offered with two petrol engines – C and S – and a choice of three well-specified trims – Classic, Exclusive and Sport – the new MINI Cooper 5 Door is priced from £24,170 OTR, with first customer deliveries commencing in August 2024.

The new MINI Cooper 5 Door with petrol engine.
The new MINI Cooper 5 Door is available with a choice of two petrol engines with different designations of C and S. The MINI Cooper C offers a 115 kW/154 hp three-cylinder engine (consumption combined: 6.6 – 6.0 l/62 miles; CO2 emissions combined: 149 - 136 g/km according to WLTP) with 230 Nm (170 lb/ft) of torque, providing a top speed of 140mph and a 0-62mph time of 8.0 seconds.

The MINI Cooper S boasts a 150 kW/201 hp four-cylinder engine (consumption combined: 6.8 – 6.3 l/(62 miles; CO2 emissions combined: 153 - 141 g/km according to WLTP) with a maximum torque of 300 Nm (221 lb/ft), acceleration from 0 to 62 mph in 6.8 seconds and a top speed of 150 mph.

Comfortable yet dynamic performance.
The MINI Cooper 5 Door features a suspension and damping system for dynamic performance, a precise steering feel, and powerful brakes. Highly preloaded anti-roll bar mounts on the axles ensure balanced body handling, while selective tuning of the steering and all stability control system ensures a solid experience in all driving situations. Finally, the increased tyre diameter of 625mm gives the vehicle improved ride comfort and driving dynamics.

New MINI design style.
Short overhangs, a small bonnet, a long wheelbase, and large wheels make the MINI Cooper 5 Door instantly recognisable. Combined with a three-part visual division of a clearly designed body, wraparound window area and steeped roof mark the iconic MINI design.

A minimalist front end with round headlights, octagonal front grille and LED headlights which are individually adjustable into three light signatures, complete the models front design. Clear surfaces, flush-fitting taillights, and a black handle strip with distinctive model lettering at the rear round off the vehicle design.

Three trims with individual equipment options.
The new MINI Cooper 5 Door is available in three trims: Classic, Exclusive and Sport, with each trim offering an array of exterior and interior personalisation options. Classic trim presents a reduced overall appearance while highlighting key elements such as the MINI wings logo, which is finished in Vibrant Silver. A range of five exterior paint finishes, two contrasting roof colours, and two different wheel options give customers maximum flexibility.

Exclusive trim brings further customisation options, adding British Racing Green and all-new Icy Sunshine Blue exterior paint, Vescin Nightshade Blue interior, a dark interior headliner and the front grille in Vibrant Silver. Exclusive customers also receive 17” U Spoke Silver wheels as standard, with two 18” wheel designs available optionally.

Finally, Sport trim offers Sports Transmission with shift paddles on the steering wheel, a distinctive front and rear design featuring a high-gloss black hexagonal patterned grill surround and logo, and a rear spoiler with airblades. 18” JCW Lap Spoke 2-Tone Alloy wheels are offered as standard, alongside black brake callipers with JCW badging. A contrasting Chili Red roof and red/black bonnet stripes are also available. Inside the vehicle, Sport trim features a JCW black/red dashboard knit, a partially perforated Vescin steering wheel with red accents, and a lidded storage box in red/black knit.

The interior.
The interior of the new MINI Cooper 5 Door is focused on the circular infotainment screen, characteristic toggle switch and steering wheel. Behind the steering wheel is a slim head up display, ensuring all relevant content appears in the driver’s field of vision.

An innovative use of materials creates a versatile cabin using a specially developed knitting process to create an easy-care structure in a two-colour design of recycled polyester which extends across the curved dashboard and into the door panels.

The generous space in the front seats and the clean lines give the cockpit a modern look while the panoramic glass roof ensures a bright and open cabin with room for three passengers in the rear.

Interior trims for increased personalisation
Classic Trim offers a three-spoke steering wheel with a textile band at the six o'clock position, black/blue Vescin/cloth upholstery as standard across the seats, dashboard and door contrasts, or grey/blue Vescin/cloth optionally.

Exclusive trim offers sports seats in Vescin Nightshade Blue as standard or Beige optionally, while Sport Trim offers a performance interpretation of the new material concept combining Vescin and Cord in dark night, with red accents also found on the dashboard and door trims.

High-resolution OLED display revolutionises user experience.
Central to the MINI Cooper’s interior is a circular, 24cm OLED display, where all vehicle functions can be operated via either touch or voice control using MINI Operating System 9.

The upper half of the screen displays vehicle-related information such as speed and important information on vehicle status, while the lower area houses Navigation, Media, Phone and Climate. All other functions can be accessed via the menu with the display returning to the default setting via the home button. The optional head-up display presents the most important information in the driver’s line of sight.

In conjunction with the MINI Connected Package, the full MINI Navigation Package supports the driver during the journey with realistic 3D visualisation of turn situations, a display of the current traffic situations even when route guidance system is not active, and information on parking facilities.

The MINI Experience Modes.
Seven MINI Experience Modes are available on the new MINI Cooper: Core, Green, Go-Kart, Personal, Vivid, Timeless and Balance. Each mode has specially designed backgrounds and when one of the seven is selected, the display focuses on a relevant “Mode App”. Giving drivers the opportunity to personalise the inside cabin, the MINI projector housed on the back of the OLED display immerses the dashboard in matching colour schemes and patterns, while the combined ambient lighting provides a unique cabin experience.

"Hey MINI" - the new MINI Intelligent Personal Assistant.
Just say "Hey MINI" to activate the MINI Intelligent Personal Assistant (IPA) on the OLED display. A 3D visualisation then appears in the form of a car avatar or MINI’s digital companion, Spike. Interacting with the MINI IPA, the driver can use their voice to control a wide range of options such as navigation, telephony, entertainment, and other vehicle functions.

Nürburg - MINI enthusiasts and motorsport fans are eagerly awaiting the debut of the highly anticipated New MINI John Cooper Works. It is set to make its first appearance at this year's 24 Hours of Nürburgring, one of the toughest endurance races in the world, challenging drivers and teams to conquer the iconic Nürburgring-Nordschleife over a grueling, day-long battle of speed, skill, and reliability.

The new petrol-powered MINI John Cooper Works, cloaked in a bespoke camouflage designed by the MINI Design Team, pays homage to the iconic red and white color schemes used for classic Minis in motorsports in the 1960s.

Celebrating its world premiere in fall 2024, the New MINI John Cooper Works marks a significant milestone in MINI's commitment to innovation and heritage. In a bold move, the new MINI John Cooper Works lineup, developed to push the boundaries of speed and agility, will be available in both petrol and all-electric versions.

In a nod to Mini’s historic victory of the Mini Cooper S at the 1964 Rallye Monte Carlo 60 years ago, the racecar features a distinctive “37” logo, commemorating this milestone achievement. This emblem serves as a homage to MINI’s rich motorsport tradition.

The New MINI John Cooper Works #317 will be entered by the private racing team from Nürburg, Bulldog Racing, and will be competing in the SP 3T category.

Dubbed “MINI John Cooper Works PRO”, the MINI Twin-Power Turbo racecar represents the perfect fusion of MINI's iconic design and reliability and Bulldog Racing's track-tested expertise.

Munich/Beijing. MINI fans can look forward to the 18th Beijing International Automotive Exhibition 2024. From April 25 to May 4, MINI will be presenting the new generation of the new MINI Family at the China International Exhibition Center in Beijing. As part of the Chinese motor show with the theme “New Era, New Cars,” MINI is celebrating the world premiere of the first-ever MINI Aceman. With its independent, all-electric vehicle concept, the MINI Aceman occupies the position between the MINI Cooper and the MINI Countryman.

Together with the electric MINI Cooper in both power levels “E” and “SE” and the MINI John Cooper Works Countryman ALL4 with intelligent all-wheel drive, MINI is presenting the range of its new product portfolio at the Auto China 2024.

Auto China has been held in Beijing every two years since 1990. On more than 200,000 square meters of exhibition space, over 700 exhibitors present their portfolio in what is currently the world's largest automotive market.

The MINI Cooper: Maximum emotion in a minimal footprint.
With a fully electric drive, the MINI Cooper is available as Cooper E and with higher performance and range Cooper SE. Together with the octagonal front grille, the iconic round headlights define the distinctive face of the all-electric vehicle. As with the entire new model family, four vehicle trims (Essential, Classic, Favoured, JCW Trim) are available for the MINI Cooper.

At Auto China 2024, MINI presents the Cooper E in Favoured Trim. The exclusive exterior details of the equipment variant are expressively showcased in Sunny Side Yellow with contrasting roof and mirror caps in white. The MINI Cooper E impresses with 135 kW/184 hp and thrilling acceleration without delay. The battery of the MINI Cooper E (combined power consumption: 14.3-13.8 kWh/100 km according to WLTP; combined CO2 emissions: 0 g/km; CO2 class: A) achieves a range of 305 kilometers in the WLTP test cycle with a capacity of 40.7 kWh.  28 minutes of charging time at 75 kW is enough to charge the MINI Cooper E battery from 10 percent to 80 percent.

Electrified go-kart feeling with increased range.
In the MINI Cooper SE (combined power consumption: 14.7 — 14.1 kWh/
100 km according to WLTP; combined CO ₂ emissions: 0 g/km; CO2 class: A), the spontaneous power delivery of the 160 kW/218 hp electric motor creates even more emotions. The high-voltage battery with a capacity of 54.2 kWh achieves a range of up to 402 kilometers in the WLTP test cycle.

At Auto China 2024, the MINI Cooper SE in British Racing Green is a reminiscent of the racing successes of its classic predecessor.
In Classic Trim, the two-tone black and blue knit surface on the dashboard and doors provides an elegant contrast to the high-quality seats made of vescin. The interior of the MINI Cooper is based on the new MINI design language “Charismatic Simplicity.”
The round OLED display, the characteristic toggle switch bar and the redesigned steering wheel characterize the minimalistic look of the cockpit.

 At its booth in Beijing, MINI also presents the Cooper SE
in John Cooper Works Trim. The red contrasting roof adds a characteristic highlight to the Legend Grey shade. Exclusive design features such as the distinctive diffusers in the front and rear areas, the radiator grille and the JCW logo in high-gloss black emphasize the sporty character of the trim. In the interior, JCW sports seats with multi-colored knitwear and black synthetic leather with red stitching reflect the color scheme of the dashboard and door panel.

The MINI John Cooper Works Countryman ALL4:
Powerful versatility even off paved roads.
Also in Beijing: The largest MINI. With standard ALL4 all-wheel drive and 221 kW/300 hp high-performance engine, the MINI John Cooper Works Countryman ALL4 (combined fuel consumption: 8.3 — 7.8 l/100 km in accordance with WLTP; combined CO ₂ emissions: 187 — 177 g/km; CO2 class: A) sprints from standstill to 100 km/h in just 5.4 seconds.

The typical JCW, contrasting chili red on the mirror caps, the roof and the inlays on the air outlets, together with the shiny Midnight Black shade, accentuate the sportiness of the model. The interior of the versatile MINI model offers plenty of space.
This means that even bulky items can be transported in the luggage compartment with a volume of up to 1,450 liters when the bench is folded down.

The MINI Experience Modes are available for particularly immersive driving experiences. In addition to specific graphic elements on the
OLED display, MINI fans can experience the entire interior in a new way through special lighting graphics in different colors and patterns.

Whether MINI Cooper, MINI Aceman or MINI Countryman — the new MINI Family combines the MINI typical driving pleasure with efficient drive technologies and numerous options for customization.

Fuel consumption, CO2 emission figures and power consumption and range were measured using the methods required according to Regulation VO (EC) 2007/715 as amended. They refer to vehicles on the German automotive market. For ranges, the NEDC figures take into account differences in the selected wheel and tire size, while the WLTP figures take into account the effects of any optional equipment.

All figures have already been calculated based on the new WLTP test cycle. NEDC figures listed have been adjusted to the NEDC measurement method where applicable. WLTP values are used as a basis for the assessment of taxes and other vehicle-related duties which are (also) based on CO2 emissions and, where applicable, for the purposes of vehicle-specific subsidies. Monday 11 March – Today sees the start of production for the new, fifth generation MINI Cooper at the home of MINI, Plant Oxford.

Associates at MINI Plant Oxford were joined by Head of MINI, Stefanie Wurst for a special on-site event in which the first three-door model was driven off the production line by Charlie Cooper, grandson of the legendary John Cooper, whose heritage inspired the Cooper moniker.

Commenting on the start of production, Stefanie Wurst, Head of MINI said, “This milestone underscores the commitment to our roots while propelling us into a dynamic future of driving. Plant Oxford is the heart of the MINI brand, and today, as we witness the birth of this new chapter, we renew our pledge to craftsmanship and the thrill of motoring."

The new MINI Cooper is the latest generation to be built in the UK, with all three BMW Group UK manufacturing sites contributing to production: BMW Group Plant Swindon produces body pressings and sub-assemblies, while the latest highly-efficient three and four-cylinder petrol engines are built at BMW Group Plant Hams Hall in North Warwickshire. Finally, these parts come together at MINI Plant Oxford where body shell production, paint and final assembly take place.

Since the launch of the first modern MINI in 2001, over 4.4 million MINIs have been produced in Britain - including 150,000 MINI Electric models which were built between 2019 and 2023.

With its high level of flexibility, competitiveness and expertise, the MINI Oxford plant plays an important role in the BMW Group's production network, and is currently preparing to build two new all-electric MINI models from 2026. The BMW Group will then have invested a total of more than 3 billion GBP in the Swindon, Hams Hall and Oxford plants. 

Announced last month, the new MINI Cooper arrives as the third member of the new MINI family, joining the MINI Cooper Electric and the new MINI Countryman. Available in two model variants: the MINI Cooper C and performance-enhanced MINI Cooper S, the latest three-door merges traditional brand values with innovative, future orientated technology.

The model’s exterior silhouette features clear surfaces, short overhangs and a compact bonnet which combined with a contrasting long wheelbase, achieves the typical MINI proportions. Moving inside, the interior is minimalistic, with the entire cockpit focussed on just three elements: a revolutionary circular OLED display, the new Vescin steering wheel and the toggle bar.

The MINI Cooper will be priced from £23,270 OTR with first customer deliveries in spring 2024.

Munich. With 218 electrically generated hp (160 kW) and 330 Newton metres of maximum torque, the MINI Cooper Electric (electricity consumption combined: 14.7 - 14.1 kWh/100 km according to WLTP; CO2 emissions combined: 0 g/km) is way out in front with zero emissions, especially with its ability to sprint from 0 to 62mph in 6.7 seconds. The high-voltage battery installed in the MINI Cooper Electric, with an energy content of 54.2 kWh, enables a range of up to 250 miles - as determined in the WLTP test cycle. With many details, the Sport trim emphasises the brand's motorsport genes – achieved through numerous racing successes, including three victories at the Monte Carlo Rally in the 1960s.

Individual front and rear design with a motorsport look.

The new John Cooper Works logo, which is characterised by clear outlines, stands out particularly well with its traditional red, white and black colour scheme and the symbolised chequered flag on the octagonal front grille.The powerful appearance of the MINI Cooper Electric in Sport trim is achieved, among other things, by 18-inch wheels in Lap Spoke 2-tone design with ten spokes each and JCW brake callipers in eye-catching red. Bonnet stripes on the body emphasise its sporty character.

As standard, the MINI Cooper Electric in Sport Trim includes striking diffusers at the front and rear. The radiator grille surround and logo are finished in high-gloss black. Visual highlights include the contrasting roof and the mirror caps in Chilli Red.

The MINI LED headlights have individual light signatures. With the selected JCW signature, the front lights only show two horizontal stripes as daytime running lights and emphasise the minimalist design of the new MINI Cooper Electric. The graphics of the matrix rear lights underline the width of the rear of the vehicle.

Racing-inspired interior.

The JCW seats combine synthetic leather with red stitching and multi-coloured knitted material in the shoulder section. The black and red colour concept is continued on the 2d-knit covering the interior of the door and the dashboard – the passenger side of which is adorned with the JCW-specific pattern in style of a chequered flag.

The central, high-resolution OLED display, with a diameter of 240mm, bundles vehicle-related data and provides information on navigation, media, telephone and climate settings. With the MINI Experience Modes, it offers new possibilities for individualisation. These include the John Cooper Works-inspired GO-KART Mode, which colours the display and interior lighting anthracite red. In addition to the special GO-KART sound, the optimised throttle response of the accelerator pedal in this mode enhances the sporty driving experience.

New driver assistance systems and efficient charging.

With 12 ultrasonic sensors and four surround cameras, Parking Assistant Plus simplifies parking and identifies free parking spaces. The advanced EXPLORE Mode offers a unique solution for this vehicle segment: it allows parking via smartphone, without the driver having to sit in the MINI.  A significant plus in convenience when parking space is tight at the side.

Fast charging with direct current is possible with up to 95 kW. This means that the battery can be charged from 10 per cent to 80 per cent in just under 30 minutes at a quick-charging station. The high-voltage battery is charged with 11 kW using alternating current. When navigation is activated, the high-voltage battery of the MINI Cooper Electric is prepared to the ideal temperature for efficient charging depending on the weather conditions. The advantage: a significantly shorter charging time, especially at low outside temperatures.

For its fifth generation, MINI is taking a giant leap into the digital era and the brands all-electric future, today unveiling the new MINI Cooper Electric at the IAA International Motor Show in Munich. Celebrating its rich heritage yet iconic design, the new MINI Cooper offers a major step forward in technology, while focusing on a driver centric interior cabin.

“With its electric drive and purist design, the new MINI Cooper is a perfect fit for an urban lifestyle. In the fifth generation of the MINI Cooper, we combine the traditional MINI DNA with innovative, future-oriented technology while enabling locally emission-free driving fun that is typical of MINI,” says Stefanie Wurst, Head of MINI.

“Inspired by our history, we have developed our own new design language, defining our DNA. We call it ‘Charismatic Simplicity’. The idea behind it is a design that gives each new MINI model a strong, individual character and is characterized by a clear, reduced design language intuitively focused on the essentials of the brand.” says Oliver Heilmer, Head of MINI Design.

Available in two output levels - E and SE – and three exceptionally well specified trim levels in the UK – Classic, Exclusive and Sport – the new MINI Cooper Electric is priced from £30,120 OTR, with first customer deliveries taking place in spring 2024.

The exterior: maximum reduction to the essentials.
In its fifth generation, the MINI 3-door once again embodies the core of the brand yet now with a fully electric drivetrain. The silhouette features hallmark MINI proportions: short overhangs, a short bonnet, and a contrasting long wheelbase, while larger wheels and the removal of chrome from the vehicle bring a fresh take to the design.

The front end of the all-electric MINI Cooper remains iconic thanks to a striking new octagonal grille with filigree contour, and the infamous MINI circular headlights, which are offered with three unique light signatures for the first time. While horizontal light graphics are offered as standard, optionally the daytime running light elements can be switched to create three adjustable light signatures. In addition, all light modes start and end with a specially orchestrated welcome and goodbye animation.

Flush door handles are offered for the time first, while the wheel arches and side scuttles have been removed. Typical MINI design features such as the visual three-part division of the vehicle body, the all-round window area and contrasting roof help the new design stand out.

The new MINI aesthetic also gives the rear a new, contemporary feel, featuring clear surfaces and flush rear lights which can be switched to different modes in the same way as the front headlights. A defined shoulder section and a striking black handle completes the exterior design.

Three individual trims for even more character.
The all-electric MINI Cooper is available in three different trims; Classic, Exclusive and Sport. The Classic trim presents a reduced overall appearance while highlighting key parts such as the logo in new colour Vibrant Silver. A range of four external paint finishes, including all-new Sunny Side Yellow, one contrasting roof colour and two wheel options give customers maximum flexibility.

The Exclusive trim adds additional exterior design elements, such as the option for a Multitone Roof with a combination of three different colours, as well as offering the front grille in Vibrant Silver. Finally, the Sport trim offers a distinctive front and rear design, using high-gloss black as the frame for the front grille and logo colour. Combined with contrasting Chili Red roof and red/black bonnet stripes available optionally, there is no doubt the Sport trim has been inspired by its motorsport history.

The interior: minimalist, digital, immersive & warm.
The interior of the vehicle echoes the famous minimalist design of the classic Mini, using just the round instrument cluster in the centre and the infamous toggle bar below. In the new MINI Cooper, it is precisely these two elements, in combination with the steering wheel, that are the focus of the interior cabin.

The curved dashboard features a textile surface for the first time, where a specially developed knitting process has been used to create a versatile, easy-care textile in a two-colour design that is made of recycled polyester. To keep the dashboard as slim as possible the air vents are flat, and behind the steering wheel, the optional Head-up Display ensures that all the relevant content appears in the driver’s field of vision.

The clear lines and generous space in the front seats give the interior a modern feel, while the optional panoramic glass roof makes the interior bright and friendly. In the dark, the side lighting is based on the ambient light, thereby contributing to a distinctive interior atmosphere, and the armrest, mounted on the driver’s seat, provides even more space in the centre console.

Underneath the dashboard, the newly designed toggle bar houses the most important driving functions: parking brake, gear selector, start/stop key, experience mode toggle and volume control. Without the need for a gearstick, the new MINI Cooper offers more storage space in the centre console, with larger cup holders and an open storage compartment, alongside a wireless charging area. For those choosing the Exclusive trim, a knitted surface and a textile strap comes as standard.

The rear of the vehicle offers additional underfloor storage in the luggage compartment, and by folding down the rear seats in a 60:40 ratio, the luggage compartment can be expanded from 210 to 800 litres.

World’s first OLED display revolutionises the user experience.
The central OLED display sets a new benchmark of automotive design and is the defining feature of the interior. With a diameter of 240mm and MINI Operating System 9, all vehicle functions can be operated with either touch or voice control, while the display has been moved closer to the driver for easy reach.

The upper half of the screen displays vehicle-related information such as speed and battery status, and can be tapped to be displayed full screen, while the lower area houses Navigation, Media, Phone and Climate. In the Home menu, other widgets are displayed in thumbnail view to the left and right of the current menu function and can be brought up and selected by swiping horizontally to the centre. All other functions can be accessed via the menu with the display returning to the default setting via the home button.

At the centre of the screen is the start menu, where personalised content can be selected and launched by swiping to the side. In the lower section of the screen is the fixed status bar containing the menu items “Navigation”, “Media”, “Telephone”, “All Apps” and, depending on the situation, “Home”, which can be selected directly.

Swiping up from the lower edge of the screen reveals a tool belt where favourite functions can be stored and called up rapidly. The tool belt can also be activated via the star button on the multifunction steering wheel. The upper screen area is reserved for driving-relevant content such as the vehicle speed and important information on vehicle status. The optional Head-up Display shows the most important information for the driver in their field of view.

The temperature for the driver and front passenger is permanently displayed on the left- and right-hand edge of the screen. The climate control settings are integrated into the MINI Interaction Unit and can be adjusted on the top layer by touch or voice command. Depending on the Experience mode selected, a single tap on the speed display transforms the entire unit into a MINI-typical speedometer.

MINI connects: the new MINI Operating System 9.
MINI Operating System 9 is an in-house development by the BMW Group and is based on an Android Open Source Project (AOSP) software stack. The interface uses all-new static and dynamic graphical elements which blend naturally into the circular form of the OLED display.

“The new MINI Operating System 9 is characterised by simple, emotional touch operation that is specific to MINI. Together with the new cloud-based MINI Navigation for particularly precise and fast route calculation, high-speed connectivity and optional 5G capability, the new MINI Cooper takes a giant leap into the digital world, thereby underlining the brand’s charismatic heritage,” says Stefanie Wurst, Head of MINI.

The new MINI Navigation provides maps and directions in realistic 3D visualisations, displaying complicated turning situations, current traffic levels and assistance with parking with information on parking options, digital payment methods and more. A charge-optimised route can be calculated for the all-electric MINI Cooper immediately after entering the destination, while an optional augmented reality function is available for the visualisation of turn-by-turn directions.

In addition, MINI Connected upgrades give customers the opportunity to purchase additional vehicle functions. In conjunction with the optionally available MINI Connected Package, the MINI Connected Store provides access to a constantly evolving variety of apps, including gaming, music, and video streaming. The new AirConsole app provides a unique form of in-car gaming for all passengers, making the smartphone the controller of the game on the OLED display.

A whole new MINI experience: the new MINI Experience Modes.
Seven MINI Experience modes are available on the new MINI Cooper Electric: Core, Green, Go-Kart, Personal, Vivid, Timeless and Balance. Each mode has specially designed backgrounds and when one of the seven modes is selected, the display focuses on a relevant “Mode App”. Giving drivers the opportunity to personalise the inside cabin, the MINI projector housed on the back of the OLED display immerses the dashboard in matching colour schemes and patterns, while the combined ambient lighting provides a unique cabin experience.

In Go-Kart Mode, there is a focus on MINI’s racing DNA; the display and interior as a whole feature the colours anthracite and red, while specific analogue displays for driving dynamics complement this mode inspired by John Cooper Works. Vivid Mode draws on the colours of the album cover for the ambient lighting and for a unique experience, Personal Mode allows an individually selected image to be set as the display background via the MINI App. The dominant colours of the image then extend across the textile dashboard surfaces by means of a digital colour picker. The ambient lighting under the dashboard and in the door mirror is also colour-coded to match these projections.

Three newly designed trims for an individual look.
In line with focusing on reduction, the interior offers new contemporary colours, materials, and design features, for example a brand-new three-spoke steering wheel with textile strap in the six o'clock spoke. Newly developed, high-quality, and environment-friendly materials are also used across the dashboard and door panels, where knitted surfaces are made of recycled polyester and feature a two-tone design.

Three newly designed trims of Classic, Exclusive and Sport allow customers the ultimate choice in interior personalisation. In Classic trim, MINI uses a modern 2D knitted textile in the interior of a production vehicle for the first time. Black sports seats in a high-quality synthetic leather are offered with a distinctly patterned multitone textile to match a coloured textile band on the dashboard, while on the dashboard and door handles, a two-tone black knitted material is offered. Also available within this trim is a grey and black material featuring perforated houndstooth pattern, while the side contrasts in blue textile.

The Exclusive trim features a two-tone houndstooth pattern on the knitted-textile instrument panel and is available in two colours with traditional accent stitching and perforated Vescin sports seats. Customers choosing the Exclusive trim can also take the all-new Spray-Tech roof which features a blending of three different colours.

The Sport trim offers a performance focused interpretation of the new materials, combining multi-coloured knitted textile and black synthetic leather with red stitching. A distinct front and rear design with the vehicle grille and logo in high-gloss black is offered as standard, while a contrasting Chili Red roof and JCW-specific red or black bonnet stripes can be added optionally.

“Hey MINI!”: the first MINI Intelligent Personal Assistant.
In the new MINI Cooper, numerous functions can be controlled using the brand’s first ever fully-fledged voice assistant. The MINI Intelligent Personal Assistant can be activated with the greeting “Hey MINI” or by using the push-to-talk steering wheel button. Voice-controlled interaction is displayed on the round OLED display in the form of an animation of graphic elements, typography, and an avatar. For the visualisation, users have the option to choose between “MINI” – a stylised representation of a MINI – or optionally "Spike" who will already be familiar to MINI fans.

With improved voice recognition, verbal commands are also displayed on the central instrument cluster allowing drivers to control navigation, telephony, entertainment, and vehicle functions by hand movement. The MINI Intelligent Personal Assistant continuously learns about the drive to be as helpful as possible on repetitive routes. Drawing on geobased data, the vehicle can learn to automatically open the window when entering a car park for example, making day-to-day routines more convenient and personal.

New driver assistance systems make day-to-day life easier.
In addition to the automatic parking functions offered by the Parking Assistant, the new optional Parking Assistant Plus makes the parking process even easier. With 12 ultrasonic sensors and four surround-view cameras, the vehicle can identify possible parking spaces and independently initiate space-restricted parking manoeuvres. A manual parking process can be transferred to Parking Assistant Plus at any time.

Taking this further, Explore Mode offers a uniquely convenient solution for this vehicle segment, enabling the new MINI Cooper to be parked using a smartphone if the space at the side is too limited for entry. The innovative MINI Digital Key Plus option uses the smartphone as a key, enabling automatic opening of the vehicle, and can be transferred to different users for easier car sharing. Welcome projection of the front and rear lights begins as soon as the driver is within three metres of the car; the doors are unlocked when the driver is less than one and a half metres.

For further safety, customers who chose the Remote 360 option can view the surroundings of the parked vehicle in the MINI App, while a camera in the inside provides a view of the interior. In addition, the Snapshot function offers the opportunity to capture shared moments in a photograph and to upload them via Wi-Fi-direct to the smartphone.

Brand new powertrain bringing all-electric driving fun
With a completely new powertrain, the new MINI Cooper Electric is available in two variants: E and SE. The Cooper E hosts a high-voltage battery with 40.7 kWh of capacity which provides up to 190 miles of electric range according to the WLTP test cycle. A 135 kW/184 hp electric motor generates a torque of 290 Nm and accelerates the vehicle from 0 to 62mph in 7.3 seconds.

With an output of 160 kW/218 hp, the Cooper SE sprints from 0 to 62mph in 6.7 seconds with a maximum torque of 330 Nm, with the calculated range increasing to a maximum of 250 miles thanks to a battery capacity of 54.2 kWh.

Excellent driving dynamics for comfort and performance.
The MINI Cooper Electric has an increased track width and wheelbase, with a tuned suspension and damping system. Combined with powerful brakes, low centre of gravity, a strut brace and highly preloaded stabiliser mounts on the axles, the MINI Cooper offers precise steering and comfort.

New MINI Experience Modes for individually tailored driving fun.
The various MINI Experience modes offer further individual settings, for example, on Go-Kart Mode, customers can configure steering response and intervention limits of traction control to ensure more driving fun. By contrast, Green Mode optimises the efficiency of the drivetrain, focusing on ensuring maximum range thanks to increased recuperation management.

These immersive driving experiences are enhanced by new acoustic worlds created by the digital MINI Sounds. This includes new driving sounds in the interior, an unmistakable MINI brand sound as a mark of identification, jingles for the new MINI Experience Modes, and 30 new sound signals for information and warning functions.

Simplified and efficient battery charging.
The MINI Cooper can be charged via three ways; 11 kW AC charging, 75 kW DC charging and 95 kW DC charging, meaning at a fast-charging station, the battery can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in under 30 minutes. By using the MINI Navigation, the vehicle will ensure the high-voltage battery reaches the ideal temperature for efficient charging in advance, thus reducing charging time. Customers can also optimise charging for their schedule, setting charging start times, active charging windows, and target battery capacity by departure time. Finally, drivers can instruct that the interior cabin is air conditioned by a set departure time.

The MINI App provides a convenient overview of the vehicle status and charging process, including current battery status, charging-optimised route plan and charging history.

Available in two output levels - E and SE – and three exceptionally well specified trim levels in the UK – Classic, Exclusive and Sport – the new MINI Cooper Electric is priced from £30,120 OTR, with first customer deliveries taking place in spring 2024.

BMW Group UK was once again successful at this year’s What Car? Electric Car Awards, taking home four prized category wins across the Group’s electrified model portfolio.

The BMW 330e, i7 and i8 each secured the win in their respective class. Whilst once again the MINI Countryman PHEV won at the awards, topping the Best Hybrid Small SUV category.

For a second year in a row the BMW 330e, powered by the combination of a 2.0 litre petrol engine and an electric motor producing 292hp, took home the illustrious ‘Best Used Hybrid Executive Car’ award. Steve Huntingford, Editor, What Car? said, "If you buy used, the 330e costs less than key rivals. Yet it's more entertaining than any of them to drive, thanks to sharp, well-balanced handling. It's a comfortable car, too (particularly if you buy an example equipped with the M Sport Pro Pack), and all versions come with an infotainment system that's wonderfully intuitive."

With What Car? believing "BMW's flagship saloon is undoubtedly one of the most complete cars on sale today” the BMW i7 has added ‘Best Electric Luxury Car’ to its growing tally of awards. Offering a cutting-edge digital experience with the BMW Theatre Screen and BMW Interaction Bar, the BMW i7 combines striking style with a luxurious interior to lead its segment. What Car? states “It combines superb ride comfort and effortless performance with a long range and fast charging. What's more, it's hugely spacious and available with a rear entertainment system that offers audio and visuals worthy of the best cinemas."

Launched in 2012, the BMW i8 was a trailblazer in the performance car segment and continues to impress over 10 years on, collecting the ‘Best Used Hybrid Performance Car’ at the 2023 What Car? Electric Car Awards. Steve Huntingford said, "It may have been discontinued, but the BMW i8 still looks like the future. And in many ways it feels like it, too, with its lightweight construction boosting performance, agility and efficiency. Our advice would be to buy one while you can, because we think prices are only going to go up."

Finally, the MINI Countryman PHEV reclaimed its title as ‘Best Hybrid Small SUV’, with What Car? judges applauding its “smart interior design” and class-leading build quality. Huntingford summarises, “The Countryman takes the style of the traditional Mini hatchback and applies it to a much more practical, family-friendly package,” with a pure electric range that is “easily long enough for the school run.”

New technology, cutting-edge connectivity, standard-fit front and rear LED lights across the range and an advanced dual-clutch automatic gearbox are just some of the features in the new 2018 MINI 3-Door Hatch, MINI 5-Door Hatch and MINI Convertible, which will launch at MINI retailers across the UK on 17 March 2018.

The changes are focused on driver appeal and core new technologies, including MINI Connected Concierge services, wireless smartphone charging and first-in-class options such as new anti-dazzle adaptive headlights with Matrix high beam.

Bright and dazzle-free: Font and rear LED lights now standard. First-in-class adaptive LED headlights with Matrix high beam optionally available.

The exterior character of the new MINI range has been refreshed with the introduction of a new front and rear LED light design, enhancing the on-road presence of the new MINI 3-Door Hatch, MINI 5-Door Hatch and MINI Convertible.

All versions of MINI Hatch and MINI Convertible sold in the UK get the same front and rear LED lamps as standard, for the first time in this segment. The LED lamps have a stronger, brighter beam pattern than the outgoing halogen headlamps, while the daytime running lamps and indicators are also LED-based, forming a new ring design around the headlights themselves. The three-dimensional LED rear lamps cleverly incorporate horizontal turn signals and vertical brake lamps within a distinctive new light cluster. The LED lamps benefit from greater long-distance visibility, without dazzling other road users.

First-in-class new ‘Matrix’ adaptive LED headlamps will be offered as an option on the new MINI Hatch and Convertible range, which automatically adjusts brightness using a matrix of different light elements to cater for specific road conditions.

For example, the lamps can offer additional illumination to the side of the road in both urban and rural areas, while the high beam lights have greater intensity at motorway speeds, without dazzling oncoming drivers.

The adaptive LEDs also feature an automatic selective dip function when on high beam, which automatically extinguishes the parts of the lamp which may dazzle other drivers, while at the same time offering optimal illumination.

Each lamp is divided into four horizontally arranged segments, which are activated and deactivated independently of one another at speeds of over 45mph. The high beam segments effectively ‘read’ the road, and as soon as the MINI front camera registers an oncoming vehicle or a vehicle driving ahead, the space that vehicle occupies is only illuminated at low beam brightness.

This is done by deactivation of the Matrix segments that cover the space in question, while the remaining areas of the road continue to be illuminated at high beam brightness.

New MINI logo: reduced to the essentials.

The 2018 MINI range will also see the debut of an all-new MINI logo on the vehicle. The new badge has a flat two-dimensional design, reflecting MINI’s new brand identity with its focus on the essentials – namely key values such as driving fun, distinctive design, premium quality and emotional appeal.

The new logo appears on the bonnet, tailgate, steering wheel, instrument display and central locking remote control on all models.

Three new colours, including premiere for Piano Black Exterior.

The range of body finishes available for the new MINI range includes three brand new colours, namely Emerald Grey metallic, Starlight Blue metallic and Solaris Orange metallic.

In addition, exterior options now include an additional means of customising the exterior design – a popular practice among MINI customers. With the Piano Black Exterior pack, the surrounds of the headlights, rear lights and radiator grille are finished in high-gloss black instead of chrome.

The choice of alloy wheels has been expanded, too. 17-inch ‘Roulette’ and ‘Propeller’ designs are now available for all body variants of the new MINI Hatch and Convertible, along with a new ‘Rail’ two-tone wheel.

New leather trims, interior surfaces and colour lines.

A broad selection of seat surfaces, interior surfaces and colour lines add a touch of individual style to the interior of the new MINI range. These include Chester leather trim in Malt Brown and a colour line now also available in Malt Brown.

A brand new option for 2018, MINI Yours Interior in Piano Black, provides MINI Hatch and Convertible customers with the option of a distinctive backlit decorative strip for the passenger side of the instrument panel. Stylised in a Union Jack motif, the colour of the background lighting for the decorative strip matches that of the vehicle’s ambient lighting selected by the driver as part of the MINI Excitement Package. This option also enhances other area of the cabin, adding a distinctive high gloss black appearance to the door inners and centre console.

Maximum individualisation: MINI Yours Customised.

The MINI Yours Customised program raises brand individualisation to a whole new level. It includes new products whose design can be created by customers themselves, which are then produced precisely according to their individual specifications.

The MINI Yours Customised range includes side scuttles, decorative strips for the interior on the passenger side, LED door sill finishers and LED door projectors.

MINI Yours Customised products can be selected, designed and ordered through a specially created online shop launching later in 2018. Here customers can choose between various colours, patterns, surface structures and icons, as well as contributing their own texts and adding a touch of personal style to the design. This creative interaction between manufacturer and customer enables MINI drivers to turn their vehicle into a unique expression of their own personality.

The individualised products are manufactured using innovative production techniques, including 3D printing and laser engraving.

Drive: increased driving fun and reduced weight.

Revisions to engines and powertrain have been made to further enhance driving fun. Development has been applied across the board, including the basic engine, MINI TwinPower Turbo Technology, engine electronics, oil supply, intake air ducting, the cooling system and the exhaust system.

One very clever feature of the new MINI engines is the use of carbon-fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) on the engine covers, which not only  contributes to further weight reduction, but also takes advantage of using recycled material generated during the production of BMW’s ‘i’ range of electric vehicles.

The 3-cylinder petrol engine in the MINI One has seen an increase in capacity to 1.5 litres, increasing maximum torque by 10 Nm, taking it to 190 Nm.

New: 7-speed Steptronic transmission with double clutch with electronic selector lever.

All new MINIs come with a precise six-speed manual gearbox as standard, but now 3-Door Hatch, 5-Door Hatch and Convertible models are now also available with a 7-speed Steptronic transmission with double clutch as an option.

The transmission is offered on MINI One, MINI Cooper, MINI Cooper S and MINI Cooper D engine variants, and is characterised by very fast gearshifts, enabling sporty acceleration and an impressive spread of torque.

The transmission comes with an all-new electronic selector lever, while on the MINI Cooper S the automatic option includes shift paddles at the steering wheel for a level of manual intervention.

All Steptronic transmissions allow the car to coast in MID and GREEN mode and incorporate the latest generation of auto start/stop functions.

Using the satellite navigation data and the car’s inbuilt camera systems, the stop/start can be intelligently controlled to identify situations in which it is better not to switch off the engine: for example when stopping briefly before making a turn or entering a roundabout, or if the traffic ahead has started moving again.

New steering wheel with multifunction buttons and radio with 6.5-inch colour screen as standard.

The newly designed three-spoke steering wheel in the MINI range now features multifunction buttons. On the left-hand control panel it is possible to activate the Speed Limit Device to set a maximum speed, while the audio and communication controls are on the right-hand side. A sports leather steering wheel, a MINI Yours sports leather steering wheel and a John Cooper Works leather steering wheel are all available as options.

The standard trim also includes an audio system with 6.5-inch colour screen in the central instrument panel and mobile phone integration via Bluetooth.

New options: Refreshed Pepper and Chili packs now include rear PDC and MINI Logo projection as standard.

For 2018, MINI has introduced new options and enhanced the equipment offered in the popular Pepper and Chili packs.

Pepper Pack adds extra content including 15-inch light alloy wheels, MINI Excitement Pack, leather steering wheel, rain sensor with automatic headlight activation and automatic air conditioning. A new addition to the Pepper Pack in 2018 is rear park distance control (PDC) ensuring that the MINI vehicles are easier than ever to park in and around town.

Chili Pack builds on the contents of the Pepper Pack, adding extras features including 17-inch light alloy wheels, cloth and leather upholstery, a sport steering wheel and a sport button to further enhance the driving experience.

The MINI Excitement Package, which is included in the Pepper and Chili packs for UK customers, now includes MINI logo projection on the driver's side. When the vehicle door is opened and closed, the new MINI logo is projected onto the ground in front of the door from a light source in the exterior mirror and can be seen there for 20 seconds, or permanently if the door is left open.

Infotainment and Navigation: 6.5-inch full colour display as standard and debut of new Navigation Plus Pack with wireless charging.

As standard, all vehicles will have a 6.5-inch full colour display and standard rotary controller. Customers can choose to upgrade this screen to include optional MINI Navigation with a touchscreen display and Apple CarPlay functionality.

MINI has simplified the range of additional infotainment packs for UK customers in 2018, with one new infotainment package now offered. The new Navigation Plus package contains a raft of innovative optional equipment, including MINI’s new 8.8-inch touchscreen display, wireless charging, new MINI Connected Services including Real Time Traffic Information, new Natural Language Understanding functionality, MINI Concierge Service, online services and Apple CarPlay.

The new wireless charging feature, available as an option or as part of the Navigation Plus package, is facilitated via a storage compartment in the centre armrest which will automatically and wirelessly charge mobile phones which support this capability. This option also includes a second USB socket in the front section of the centre console.

MINI Connected: a range of digital services that is unique within the segment.

MINI offers class-leading premium digital services, many of which are unique in the small car segment.

New features in the leading MINI Connected package include Real Time Traffic Information and automatic navigation map update via mobile phone connection, a personal Concierge Service and a vehicle internet portal MINI Online, with news, weather and fuel price updates. Another option is Apple CarPlay compatibility.

MINI Connected enables MINI drivers to integrate their vehicle and travel plans seamlessly into their day-to-day digital routine. Meanwhile, the MINI Connected App provides connectivity with digital touchpoints such as a smartphone or smart watch. For example, MINI Connected can draw on calendar entries and contact data entered in a smartphone to plan routes and determine the ideal time to set off based on real time traffic data.

The Send to Car function enables planned routes to be sent to the MINI navigation system, while Remote Services allow the driver not just to display vehicle location, fuel level and other vehicle status details on their smartphone, but also activate the headlight flasher, horn, ventilation and door lock/unlock function.

Intelligent networking is standard across the MINI range, via a 4G SIM card integrated into the vehicle. This enables the use of MINI Teleservices and the Intelligent Emergency Call with automatic detection of vehicle location and accident severity.

Another new 2018 option for Hatch and Convertible models is MINI Find Mate. This option consist of tags with a Bluetooth tracking function that can be attached to frequently used objects and travel items such as bags, cases, key rings and rucksacks. Their position can not only be displayed on the car’s on-board computer but also in your MINI Connected App on a smartphone, preventing personal items getting lost or left behind.

As MINI Inspired by Goodwood makes its European debut this weekend at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, MINI announces UK pricing for the stunning car which blends Rolls-Royce luxury with the unmistakable MINI driving experience.

From 30th June 2011 customers will be able to place their order for one of just 1,000 MINI Inspired by Goodwood models priced at £41,000. The first of these unique cars will be delivered in March 2012.

MINI Inspired by Goodwood is the result of an exceptional collaboration between MINI and the Rolls-Royce Motors Cars design team. The special edition MINI features top-grade materials and the highest level of workmanship providing the car with a luxurious charisma and an incomparably high-quality ambience.

Inside the MINI Inspired by Goodwood, specially selected materials and  precise craftsmanship guarantee the highest degree of comfort. The dashboard, central console, air vents, carpets, heated lounge leather seats, roof lining, doors and interior cladding all boast the exclusive Rolls-Royce colour Cornsilk. The dashboard and doorhandle surfaces, which are manufactured in Goodwood are finished in Walnut Burr, a premium wood trim exclusive to Rolls-Royce. The MINI Inspired by Goodwood also features cashmere roof linings, sun visors and rear storage tray as well as deep-pile lambswool foot mats – a quality also featured in current Rolls-Royce models.

The most striking features of the exterior design are the body finish in the exclusive Rolls-Royce colour Diamond Black metallic and 17-inch light alloy wheels sporting a multi-spoke design.

The MINI Inspired by Goodwood is powered by a l.6-litre 135 kW/184 bhp four-cylinder engine with Twin Scroll turbocharger, direct petrol injection and variable valve control. The power unit, which is featured in the new MINI Cooper S - it is the most efficient engine in its displacement class.

The MINI Inspired by Goodwood’s range of high-quality equipment offered as standard also includes Xenon Adaptive Headlights, Park Distance Control, automatic air conditioning, an onboard computer, MINI Navigation and the audio system Radio MINI Visual Boost, which includes the Harman Kardon hi-fi speaker system. The car also comes with MINI’s 5 year servicing package; MINI TLC.
