season, after receiving recognition from a range of leading automotive
titles. Highlights include recent successes for BMW and MINI, at the
2026 Autocar Awards, Autotrader Drivers’ Choice Awards, What Car? Tow
Car Awards, Auto Express Driver Power 2026 and the EcoCar Electrified
Top 50 Awards.
Autocar name Neue Klasse architecture as ‘Mundy Award for
Engineering’ winner,
with MINI JCW winning ‘Future Classic’ Award at 2026 Autocar Awards.
Earlier this week, BMW Group secured two coveted accolades at
the annual Autocar Awards. All-new Neue Klasse architecture has
received the prestigious Mundy Award for Engineering at the 2026
Autocar Awards. The Mundy Award is a highly regarding award that
recognises standout engineering feats within the automotive industry
for their exceptional technical contributions and innovation. The Neue
Klasse architecture underlines the future BMW model portfolio, with
BMW iX3, BMW 7 Series & BMW i3 already announced, and up to 40 new
or updated models launching in the coming two years. Speaking on the
origins, Mike Reichelt, the Head of Neue Klasse, stated that “we went
all in and pushed every technology to the boundaries to lead BMW into
the future. Ultimately it feels like a BMW, but a completely modern
one and a new interpretation of what a BMW should be. And that’s the
biggest compliment we can get”. The Neue Klasse architecture marks the
first time a ‘product’ has been received this prize, rather than an
individual person, since the Autocar’s inaugural awards ceremony in
2017. Speaking on the win, judges commented that the first of the Neue
Klasse models – the BMW iX3 – “is amongst the finest electric cars yet”.

MINI was also victorious on the night, as Autocar named the MINI
John Cooper Works (JCW) as the winner of their Future Classic Award
for 2026. The MINI JCW was praised for its “compelling hot hatchback
charm and trademark desirability”, as it was benchmarked on its
driving dynamics and significance in the current automotive market.

BMW iX3 wins ‘Youtube Director Award’ at Autotrader Drivers’
Choice Awards 2026.
At the ninth annual Autotrader Drivers’ Choice Awards, the BMW
iX3 was revealed as the winner of this year’s Youtube Director Award.
This award is presented to a vehicle launched during the past 12
months that has stood out above the competition after being tested by
Autotrader’s Youtube Director, Rory Reid.

Speaking on the accolade, Rory commented, “The BMW iX3 stands out
as a genuinely complete electric car. It combines a strong real-world
range with everyday practicality, a high-quality, intuitive interior,
and a driving experience that still feels distinctively BMW.” To
conclude, Rory states, “[the iX3 is] one of the most convincing
all-round EVs on sale today”.

Triple success for BMW at 2026 What Car? Tow Car Awards.
The annual What Car? Tow Car Awards help drivers choose a car
that performs well both when towing and during everyday driving. Since
its introduction in 2007, these awards assist buyers when it comes to
towing capabilities across a range of weight classes. This year, the
BMW 530e Touring was selected as the overall winner, claiming the
headline award, as well as class winner for ‘best car for caravans
over 1,700kg’. Speaking on the triumph, judges praised the BMW 530e
Touring for its “extreme stability”, “excellent fuel economy”, and
“luxurious and roomy” interior. What Car? Editor, Steve Huntingford
concluded by stating, “we tested many impressive cars this year, but
none is better than the overall champion, the BMW 530e Touring. It
makes an exceptional tow car”.

Meanwhile, the all-new BMW iX3 was awarded ‘best electric car for
caravans over 1,400kg’. What Car? commented, “Electric tow cars are
improving at an impressive rate. There’s no better example than the
BMW iX3”. As reigning What Car? Car of the Year, the BMW iX3 impressed
judges by being a “powerful and stable tow car”, and What Car? Editor,
Steve Huntingford, emphasised that the BMW iX3 is the “new
standard-setter for electric tow cars”.

BMW takes home four trophies at EcoCar Electrified Top 50
Awards 2026.
BMW was recently awarded four category wins at the EcoCar
Electrified Top 50 Awards 2026. Now in its fifth year as a standalone
awards event, the Top 50 celebrate the very best electric, hybrid,
plug-in hybrid, mild hybrid and hydrogen vehicles on sale in the UK.
The 2026 awards saw BMW triumph, with four models placing within the
top 31.

The all-new BMW iX3 was crowned ‘Best Electric Executive SUV’, as
judges praised its “class leading” electric range, “premium interior”,
and “BMW’s characteristic driving dynamics”.

Meanwhile, for the fifth consecutive year, the BMW iX was
selected as “Best Electric Luxury SUV”. Judges commented, “A recent
facelift has only improved what was already one of the finest electric
vehicles on sale”. Impressed by the model’s “lounge-like interior”,
“state of the art” display screen, and usable performance, Diesel
& Eco Car Editor, Ian Robertson, stated that the BMW iX is “one of
his favourite cars on sale right now”.

The BMW 5 Series and BMW i5 were named as “Best Plug-in Hybrid
Executive Car” & “Best Electric Executive Car” respectively.
Judges described these cars as “exceptional all-rounders that combine
refinement, driver engagement and practicality in a thoroughly
convincing package. Touring estate versions only enhance its appeal”.

Best Coupe and Family Car wins for BMW at Auto Express’ 2026
Driver Power survey.
The annual Auto Express Driver Power survey asks thousands of new
car buyers to share their thoughts on the current automotive market
and their real-world experiences during vehicle ownership. The results
provide a good insight into what new car owners actually think of the
cars they purchased and drive every day, helping fellow motorists
choose their next vehicles. This year, BMW performed across a number
of classes. The BMW 2 Series was named as ‘Best Coupe’, with buyers
highlighting interior quality, driving pleasure and engine sounds as
reasons to recommend. Particular praise was given to the infotainment
system, with extra points noted for the ‘user-friendly controls and
smartphone connectivity.

Meanwhile the BMW 1 Series was triumphant in ‘Best Family Car’
category with highlights including infotainment technology, interior
styling and reliability. Notable impressions being that the BMW 1
Series scored highest in the survey for front seat comfort with 93.2%
of customers rating this highly. The two above BMW models both placed
within the top 6 of the 50 surveyed models.

Munich. Summer 2025 is set to bring innovations in
electric drive technology and digitalisation as well as new standard
and optional equipment features that will make the current BMW model
range even more attractive. New power electronics in the
all-electric BMW i4 result in even greater efficiency and increased
range. The most powerful BMW i4 will also debut at the same time.
Numerous BMW models will come as standard with Comfort Access and
the BMW Digital Key, which has now become even easier to set up.

From summer 2025, the BMW X1, BMW X2 and BMW 2 Series Active Tourer
will be available with new exterior and interior options. Standard
equipment for the BMW 1 Series and BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé now
includes heated front seats. The BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant
now offers an alternative voice.

BMW i4: reduced consumption, new range-topper with extra power.

From July 2025, the BMW i4 eDrive35 (WLTP combined (EnVKV): energy
consumption 17.5 kWh/100 km; CO<sub>2</sub> emissions 0 g/km;
CO2 class A); range 428-514 km (WLTP combined (PER)) as
well as the BMW i4 eDrive40 (WLTP combined (EnVKV): energy
consumption 17.8 kWh/100 km; CO<sub>2</sub> emissions 0 g/km;
CO2 class A); range 510-613 km (WLTP combined (PER)) will
come with silicon carbide semiconductor components in the power
electronics (SiC inverter), which reduce consumption by around 4.5
per cent while adding up to 22 kilometres of range (depending on the
model and equipment installed as part of an individual vehicle configuration).

From July 2025, the new range topper for the all-electric BMW i4
comes in the shape of the BMW i4 M60 xDrive (WLTP combined (EnVKV):
energy consumption 20.9 kWh/100 km; CO<sub>2</sub> emissions 0 g/km;
CO2 class A); range 433-551 km (WLTP combined (PER)).
Compared to the predecessor, it provides an additional 42 kW/57 hp
of power, for a system output of 442 kW/601 hp. The new BMW i4 M60
xDrive takes 3.7 seconds for the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h.

BMW Digital Key: smartphone used as key enables many
additional functions.

The BMW Digital Key will soon become the tool of choice to unlock
and lock many BMW models, courtesy of a simplified set-up process.
The BMW iX was the first to be updated in March 2025, and many model
series will follow from July 2025: the BMW 1 Series, BMW 2 Series
Gran Coupé, BMW 2 Series Active Tourer, BMW X1, BMW X2, BMW 5 Series
Sedan, BMW 5 Series Touring, BMW M5, BMW M5 Touring and BMW 7
Series. The BMW X5, BMW X5 M, BMW X6, BMW X6 M, BMW X7 and BMW XM
models will follow from August 2025. The BMW X3 will come with the
new set-up process in the US from August 2025 and in South Africa
from September 2025.

The feature will then include a physical key, a Setup Card and a
Service Card. The new Setup Card makes it easier than ever to set up
the BMW Digital Key on smartphones from all major manufacturers by
simply holding the card to the mobile phone or scanning the QR code
on the back. The next step takes the user straight into the My BMW
app. After authorisation via the Setup Card, the BMW ID is linked to
the vehicle and the BMW Digital Key is then activated. After
activation, the customer can easily share the Digital Key with other
people by sending them a text message. Activation is possible on up
to 18 devices. Owners can define various roles and permissions for
each vehicle user. A particularly useful function ideal for novice
drivers is limiting acceleration and top speed, for example. If a
physical key does need to be handed over, for example in the
workshop or in the event of a breakdown, the new Service Card can be
used. This should always be carried deactivated so it can be
activated as a fully-fledged key when needed, via a click on the
central display.

For all eventualities: tyre repair kit and tyre repair kit Plus.

From summer 2025, the tyre repair kit will come as standard for
various BMW models. These include the BMW 1 Series, BMW 2 Series
Gran Coupé, BMW 2 Series Coupé, BMW 3 Series Sedan, BMW 3 Series
Touring, BMW 4 Series Coupé and the BMW 4 Series Convertible. The
optional tyre repair kit Plus is available for the BMW X3 (excluding
the BMW X3 30e xDrive).

Individual paintwork finishes at a glance, in the BMW Configurator.

Customers appreciate the BMW Individual paintwork colours as a way
to add a personal touch to their new BMW. Special paintwork finishes
which previously required looking up in the BMW Individual
Visualiser can be selected within the BMW Configurator. With just a
few exceptions***, this applies to a wide variety of BMW models.

BMW BEV models: free extended warranty for high-voltage batteries.

Since 1 April 2025, BMW has offered a global complimentary extended
warranty for the high-voltage batteries in all-electric BMW models.
The new warranty applies up to a vehicle age of eight years or a
maximum mileage of 160,000 kilometres, whichever comes first. Should
a high-voltage battery’s capacity drop below 70 per cent during the
warranty period, BMW will remedy this loss of capacity at no extra
cost to the customer. This applies to all new and used all-electric
BMW models from 1 April 2025.

More equipment for BMW 1 Series and BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé.

Standard equipment for the BMW 1 Series and BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé
will from summer 2025 be even more comprehensive and include heated
front seats and an alarm system. The optional M Technology Package
II available for the BMW M135 xDrive (WLTP combined (EnVKV): fuel
consumption 8.3 litres/100 km; CO<sub>2</sub> emissions 188 g/km;
CO2 class G) and the BMW M235 xDrive Gran Coupé (WLTP
combined (EnVKV): fuel consumption 8.2 litres/100 km;
CO2 emissions 185 g/km; CO2 class G) now
includes M seat belts with M colours in the weave.

New colours for BMW 2 Series Active Tourer, BMW X1 and BMW X2.

Summer 2025 will bring new exterior and interior options for the
BMW 2 Series Active Tourer, BMW X1 and BMW X2. New paintwork colours
include Fire Red metallic and Night Dusk Blue for the BMW 2 Series
Active Tourer as well as Dune Grey metallic for the BMW X2. All
three colours are also available for the BMW X1, along with BMW
Individual Frozen Portimao Blue metallic. Veganza perforated
upholstery in the colours Castanea, Smoke White and Atlas Grey/Smoke
White is newly available for customising the interior of the BMW 2
Series Active Tourer and BMW X2. The Castanea and Smoke White
colourways are available for the BMW X1. The Econeer Bicolour Blue
upholstery can be ordered from summer 2025 in combination with front
sport seats only. Another new option is the Brushed Aluminium Shadow
interior trim.

More comprehensive equipment for BMW 7 Series, BMW X3 and
BMW iX.

The BMW 7 Series and BMW i7 now feature laminated safety glass with
contrast print as standard. From summer 2025, comfort glazing, sun
protection glazing and the Heat Comfort package will also be
available as individual options for the first time, enabling even
more specific customisation.

A new equipment option for the BMW X3 is the attractive M door sill
trim. It can be ordered for the M Sport package, M Sport package Pro
and the BMW X3 M50 xDrive (WLTP combined (EnVKV): fuel consumption
8.3 litres/100 km; CO<sub>2</sub> emissions 189 g/km;
CO2 class G).

BMW Individual Frozen Pure Grey metallic is a new paintwork finish
with a particularly distinctive character, available as an option
for the BMW iX from summer 2025.

Ultimate Package for BMW X5 M Competition and BMW X6 M Competition.

The BMW X5 M Competition (WLTP combined (EnVKV): fuel consumption
12.9 litres/100 km; CO<sub>2</sub> emissions 292 g/km;
CO2 class G) and the BMW X6 M Competition (WLTP combined
(EnVKV): fuel consumption 12.8 litres/100 km;
CO2 emissions 289 g/km; CO2 class G) now
benefit from the optional Ultimate Package. In addition to the M
Carbon engine cover, this also includes M Carbon mirror caps, the
Sky Lounge panoramic glass sunroof, active seat ventilation as well
as the massage function at the front and the Comfort Package. The
Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System ensures
exceptional sound quality. The M Driver’s Package included as part
of the package increases top speed to 290 km/h. In the BMW X6 M
Competition, this is complemented by an exclusive M Carbon rear spoiler.

Comprehensively upgraded BMW iDrive.

Among the numerous innovations in the area of digital services is
the upgraded BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant in BMW Operating
System 9. It now offers customers in Turkey, Greece and Hungary
natural-language voice control in their native languages.

In the BMW 1 Series, BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé and BMW X3, customers
in many countries* can now link their own Amazon Alexa account to
the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant. This enables them to use
intuitive voice control to enjoy music via the “Hey BMW” command –
courtesy of Alexa running in the background, just like at home. In
addition, a second voice is now available for the assistant.**
Further improvements in language understanding and faster processing
speeds contribute to a more harmonious overall experience.

From summer 2025, BMW Digital Premium with BMW Operating System 9
will, subject to country-specific availability, enable customers to
use the Zoom app on their Curved Display for videoconferencing when
the vehicle is stationary. To avoid distractions, the app
automatically deactivates the video while driving.

* US, Canada, Mexico, Germany, France, United Kingdom, Spain, Italy.

** In the US, United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, Mexico, France,
Germany, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Switzerland, Austria, Iceland,

Parking Assistant Plus upgrade.

From July 2025, the functions of the Parking Assistant Plus will be
enhanced for many BMW models. It will now also use marker lines
around parking spots to help identify available spaces and ensure
parking precision. Previously, this feature was only available as
part of the Parking Assistant Professional.

BMW Maps user interface upgrades in BMW Operating System 8.5.

BMW Maps offers intuitive destination entry and intelligent route
guidance and will come with further user interface improvements from
summer 2025. For faster access to frequently used functions, the
home screen of the control display will feature direct touch buttons
for “Home” and “Work” in the BMW Maps QuickSelect Widget, for example.

Awards. • BMW M3 Touring, BMW X7 and BMW 4 Series lead their respective categories. • MINI named Most Reliable Manufacturer.</pp:summary>

BMW Group UK has made a strong start to the new year, picking up four
coveted category wins at the prestigious What Car? Car of the Year
Awards 2025. BMW collected three headline awards – with the BMW M3
Touring, BMW 4 Series and BMW X7 continuing to lead their respective
classes – and a further six subcategory wins. Meanwhile, MINI was
named Most Reliable Manufacturer.

The BMW M3 Touring retains its Performance Car of the Year title
for the second consecutive year. Commenting on the win, Steve
Huntingford, Editor of What Car? said, “The M3 Touring is one of those
cars that's built to handle every scenario you can throw at it – and
it does so with devastating effectiveness. Relatively compact exterior
dimensions allow it to dance through corners, while its twin-turbo
straight-six engine hits all the right notes. Yet the M3 Touring is
just as capable of playing the practical and classy family car when
circumstances demand."

The BMW 4 Series celebrated its win as What Car?
Coupé/Convertible of the Year, continuing its impressive streak in the
convertible category, where it has been named ‘Best Convertible’ for
five consecutive years. The second-generation 4 Series received an
array of updates last year, including a refreshed exterior design,
striking new headlights and a redesigned cockpit. On presenting the
award, Huntingford said, "While many convertibles feel vague and
ponderous compared with their coupé sisters, the 4 Series is great to
drive whether you go for the hard-top or the soft-top. The 4 Series is
also a full four-seater, with enough space in the back for a couple of
six-footers. And its interior combines high-quality materials with a
class-leading infotainment system”.

The BMW X7 garnered BMW’s third category win of the evening
after being crowned Luxury Car of the Year. The latest variant of the
BMW X7 was introduced in 2022, and has since been widely recognised
for its premium feel, exceptional level of standard equipment and
spaciousness – with room for up to seven passengers thanks to three
rows of seats. What Car? judges praised the model, stating, “The BMW
X7 is the rolling embodiment of the sort of houses you see on TV's
Grand Designs: spacious, striking and beautifully constructed. What's
more, the optional Ultimate Pack makes the interior of this luxury SUV
even more cosseting, and brings upgraded air suspension that delivers
a more stable and luxurious ride than any rival can offer."

The MINI brand was also recognised on the night as What Car?’s
Most Reliable Manufacturer. Highlighting the dependability of MINI’s
product range, Huntingford commented, "MINI had the lowest fault
rate of any brand featured in the 2024 What Car? Reliability Survey.
What's more, on the rare occasions things did go wrong, all of the
cars remained driveable and almost half of issues were resolved in a
day or less. MINI even showed that going electric is no barrier to
producing dependable models, with the MINI Electric achieving a hugely
impressive 98.4% reliability score”.

Alongside the above overall category wins, a further six BMW
models were recognised for their excellence within sub-categories.

Three vehicles within BMW’s fully electric portfolio were
commended. The first was the BMW i7, which topped the Best Electric
Luxury Car category, adding a further win to the flagship’s growing
list of accolades. Meanwhile, the BMW iX won the Family SUV Best
Interior award – a testament to its meticulously crafted and
comfortable cabin. The BMW i5 also stood out for its interior, winning
the Best Executive Car Interior for a second consecutive year.

In addition, the recently revised BMW 330e which now offers up
to 63 miles (WLTP, combined) of all-electric range was recognised as
the Best Plug-in Hybrid to Drive. The BMW M240i Coupe won Best
Performance Car for Value, with judges commending the model’s
comprehensive offering at its price point. Finally, the BMW 1 Series
won the award for Best Family Car Interior, continuing its success in
this category from the previous year. Launched last year, the
fourth-generation BMW 1 Series boasts a premium and versatile cabin
with class-leading interior technology.
in November, including new BMW 1 Series variants, additional
powertrains for the 5 Series Touring, and faster AC charging for
select plug-in hybrid models. Meanwhile, MINI will expand
personalisation options across its portfolio. Alongside these model
enhancements, BMW Group UK has recently received prestigious awards
from Carbuyer, Marie Claire, Parkers, The Caravan and Motorhome Club,
and What Car? recognising the company and its products across a range
of categories.

Introducing a range of BMW model updates from November 2024.
Closely following the launch of the fourth-generation BMW 1
Series, an additional model variant, the 123 xDrive, will join the
line-up to bridge the gap between the 120 and range-topping M135
xDrive. This additional all-wheel-drive option is powered by an
electrified four-cylinder drive unit featuring 48V mild hybrid
technology, resulting in a combined system output of 218 hp. In
addition, the BMW M135 xDrive receives an exclusive new M Dynamic
Package, bringing additional bracing elements and lightweight
construction measures, plus specific chassis components to give the
range-topper bespoke performance characteristics.

The line-up of drive systems for the new BMW 5 Series Touring
will also be expanded from November, with the introduction of new 520i
and 550e xDrive model variants. The introductory BMW 520i Touring
mates the latest four-cylinder petrol engine with 48V mild hybrid
technology to generate a maximum output of 190 hp and peak torque of
310 Nm. These figures can be raised up to 208 hp and 330 Nm courtesy
of the mild hybrid system’s crankshaft-driven starter-generator.

Meanwhile the BMW 550e xDrive, a six-cylinder in-line petrol
engine with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology, joins forces with the
latest version of BMW eDrive technology for plug-in-hybrid systems.
The 3.0-litre engine produces a nominal output of 313 hp at 5,000 –
6,500 rpm and a nominal torque of 450 Nm at 1,750 – 4,700 rpm. The
electric motor developed for the hybrid drive system is integrated –
together with its power electronics – directly into the eight-speed
Steptronic Sport transmission and contributes up to 197 hp to the peak
system output of 489 hp. The electric motor’s nominal torque of up to
280 Nm is boosted to as much as 450 Nm at the transmission input for
the motor with the help of a pregearing stage patented by BMW. With
assistance from the BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system, the
new BMW 550e xDrive Touring completes the 0-62 mph sprint in just 4.4 seconds.

Finally, all plug-in hybrid versions of the BMW 5 Series, BMW X5
xDrive50e and the new BMW M5 Saloon will benefit from increased AC
charging rates. The increase from 7.4 kW to 11 kW enables users to
replenish the high-voltage battery of their vehicle in a significantly
shorter time. It will now be possible to charge the battery in the BMW
X5 xDrive50e from 0 to 100 per cent within three hours, while the 0 to
100 per cent charging times for the BMW M5 and plug-in-hybrid variants
of the BMW 5 Series will be reduced by an hour to just 2 hours 15 minutes.

MINI model updates from the tail end of
2024.
From November 2024, MINI will be expanding
personalisation options within the Classic, Sport and Exclusive trim
structures across the new MINI family. British Racing Green exterior
body colour is now available for all vehicles within the MINI family,
while Sunnyside Yellow is now additionally offered across all MINI
Cooper models.

For customers choosing Sport trim, Blazing Blue exterior body
colour is now available on the MINI Countryman, Icy Sunshine Blue on
MINI Cooper models, and brand new 17” Sprint Spoke Alloy wheels become
standard on all Sport trim, petrol MINI Cooper models.

Classic and Exclusive trims have also been bolstered with
additional wheel options. The 17” U-Spoke Dark Grey wheel is now
available optionally on all Exclusive trim MINI Cooper vehicles, while
the 19” Runway Spoke Black Alloy wheel currently offered on Sport trim
for the MINI Countryman is now available in Classic and Exclusive trim also.

BMW 2 Series Coupe crowned ‘Best Sports Car’ at the Carbuyer
New Car Awards.
Remaining undefeated for a third
consecutive year, the BMW 2 Series Coupe was crowned ‘Best Sports Car’
at the 2025 Carbuyer New Car Awards. “The BMW 2 Series Coupe is a
sleek two-door that serves up BMW’s legendary driving precision in a
relatively affordable package. Just as rewarding in entry-level 220i
guise as it is in the hot M240i xDrive configuration, which brings
searing acceleration and thrilling grip levels," said Carbuyer
Editor, Paul Barker. "The 2 Series Coupe is also compact, making
it easy to live with, while it boasts an upmarket interior.”

What Car? names the BMW 330e ‘Used Hybrid Car of the
Year’.
The What Car? Used Car of the Year awards
highlight the best buys on the used car market today, and this year
the BMW 330e took the top spot as ‘Used Hybrid Car of the Year’.
Commenting on the win, What Car? judges said, “The 330e is great to
drive, has a plush interior, a smooth hybrid set-up, an intuitive
infotainment system, a good reliability record and it's great value
for money when bought at a few years old.”

Triple win at the Parkers New Car Awards.
BMW
celebrates success at the recent Parkers New Car Awards, with the BMW
i7/7 Series, BMW i4 and BMW 3 Series each topping their respective class.

Praised for its pricing, range and performance, the BMW i7/7
Series was named ‘Best Luxury Car’ for the second consecutive year. On
presenting the award, Parkers Editor, Keith Adams said, “If you’re in
the market for a luxury car, the all-electric BMW i7 and hybrid 7
Series have all your needs covered beautifully. As you’d expect, both
are great to drive, but for those riding in the rear, nothing can
touch them at this price point. The i7, in particular, is silently
restful, offers a brilliant driving range, quick charging and
effortless performance. No wonder it’s two years in a row for this
flagship motor.”

Continuing the awards, the BMW i4 reprised its position as ‘Best
Company Car’. “The BMW i4 set a new benchmark in the premium car
segment when it launched in 2021 and it remains unsurpassed today,”
said Adams. Parkers also paid tribute to the model’s desirability,
well-equipped specification and noted its “competitive leasing rates,
making it an affordable company car choice.”

The third and final BMW to take home a gong was the previous
generation BMW 3 Series, celebrated by Parkers as ‘Best Used Car’.
After praising its “sharp-suited looks”, driving dynamics and “broad
selection of powertrains”, Adams summarised, “Other compact executives
are more luxurious, while others are even faster, but none of them is
as special as a BMW 3 Series - reason enough to make this a used car
we can wholeheartedly recommend.”

Marie Claire honours BMW Group at annual Sustainability
Awards.
The Marie Claire Sustainability Awards reward
those who demonstrate a commitment to maximum sustainability across a
diverse range of industries. At this year’s ceremony, the BMW Group
prevailed, securing two awards in the Motors category, which
acknowledges companies who are leading the charge in eco-friendly driving.

The first win came from the MINI Countryman, as it was named in
the ‘Electric Cars’ sub-class. The model’s sustainable interior
materials contributed to the win, with Marie Claire highlighting its
dashboard and door panels made from 90 per cent recycled polyester.
The vehicle’s manufacturing process played an equal part in this win,
with BMW Group Plant Leipzig featuring four on-site wind turbines for
energy production and a battery storage farm to ensure surplus energy
can be stored and used at a later stage.

BMW Group “is to be commended for adding so much detail to the
scrutiny of its various sustainability claims, rather than just adding
links to websites, particularly the level of detail around its water
management at its global plants – I was taken by the monsoon water
being collected in India to provide 100% of plant water requirements,”
notes Marie Claire judge, Erin Baker. “I like the fact it is sourcing
its critical minerals directly, and that it tracks and traces Scope 3 emissions.”

BMW Group’s second Marie Claire award win was attributed to the
introduction of the BMW iX5 Hydrogen pilot fleet – which visited the
UK last year. While a production vehicle won’t be available until
2028, this pilot is an important first step on the road to creating a
sustainable alternative to not only traditional fossil fuels, but to
battery electric cars too. Marie Claire was particularly impressed by
the BMW Group’s “forward-thinking” research into hydrogen fuel cell
technology, as well as the iX5 Hydrogen’s zero-local-emissions drive
and 313-mile range.

BMW Group UK secures three wins at the What Car? Electric Car
Awards.
The What Car? Electric Car Awards pay tribute to
the best electrified vehicles currently on sale. At this year’s
awards, BMW Group UK triumphed, securing three coveted category wins
across its electrified model portfolio.

Combining excellent driving dynamics, sporty elegance and modern
functionality, the BMW i5 Touring clinched the award for ‘Best
Electric Estate Car’. What Car? judges endorsed the Touring as a “well
rounded” estate, while commending the model’s impressive 570-litre
boot capacity, “intuitive controls”, “rich mixture of high-quality
materials” and the “healthy 335bhp” of the entry-level eDrive40 model variant.

Also praised at the awards was the BMW i7, which secured the
accolade for ‘Best Luxury Car’ for the second year running. Commenting
on the win, judges said, “As if the petrol-powered BMW 7 Series wasn’t
already luxurious enough, the i7 adds the extra quietness that comes
only with electric power, taking the sense of tranquillity and
relaxation to a whole new level.”

MINI also received recognition from What Car?, with the MINI
Cooper SE receiving the award for ‘Best Electric Small Car’. “The new
electric Mini Cooper could convince you that the legendary (extremely)
small car should have been electric from the beginning,” said What
Car?. Judges continued by paying tribute to the hot hatch’s “precise,
confidence-inspiring steering”, commendable 0-62mph sprint time (just
6.7 seconds) and its “huge leap” in single-charge range compared to
its predecessor.

BMW i5 Touring triumphs at Towcar of the Year
2025.
The annual Caravan and Motorhome Club Towcar of
the Year awards are the leisure vehicle industry’s original and
longest-standing towcar testing awards and exist to help caravan
owners select the car best suited to their individual towing needs.

At the 2025 awards, the BMW i5 eDrive40 M Sport Pro Touring
conquered, taking home three awards: first winning the ‘1500kg–1600kg’
caravan weight class, before being named ‘Best Luxury Towcar’ and
overall ‘Best Electric Towcar’. Commenting on the win, judges said,
“The 5 Series Touring has traditionally been a great towcar and the
brand-new electric version (the first-ever electric 5 Series) keeps up
the tradition. It’s a luxurious estate car with a wonderful blend of
desirable features that bowled over the judges. BMW’s latest interiors
offer outstanding tech and fantastic build quality, while there’s
loads of space in the back seats and boot. Engaging handling just
sealed the deal. It also took the Electric Towcar and Luxury Towcar
category wins for its fantastic drive, a claimed solo 324-mile range
from its 81.2kWh battery, and plush feel.”

Note: This press release is a 1:1 copy of the original issued
by BMW headquarters in Germany. No adaptations have been made to
cater for the UK market.

Munich. The BMW Group is expanding its revolutionary
driving experience with BMW M Mixed Reality, which breaks down the
boundaries between the physical and virtual worlds through
state-of-the-art VR/MR technologies. The vehicle itself becomes the
controller - a unique 3D interaction between driver, vehicle and environment.

"Mixed reality" refers to the fusion of of physical and
digital worlds into a seamless experience. BMW M first presented mixed
reality technology at the Web Summit in Lisbon in November 2022 and
has been continuously developing it ever since.

With BMW M Mixed Reality, fans and first movers can immerse
themselves in a digital world while physically sitting at the wheel of
a BMW M vehicle and controlling it.

First-ever multisensory multiplayer

The possibilities of virtual reality are boundless: On a secret
mission, you enter the BMW M Garage and from there, you ascend to the
top of the BMW M Rooftop Circuit. Surrounded by skyscrapers, two BMW M
Mixed Reality customers now race against each other virtually in a
multiplayer mode A new feature is that spectators with personified
avatars can virtually watch the race live from the BMW M Mixed Reality
Bridge. They do not have to be physically present in the area where
the multiplayers are driving. They can be virtually connected using
devices like the Meta Quest or Apple Vision Pro.

BMW M Mixed Reality will be presented again in Lisbon this year. For
BMW M fans, BMW M Mixed Reality has been available in the singleplayer
mode since autumn 2023 as part of the BMW M Driving Experience in
Maisach, the world's first driving experience for customers.

For BMW M fans, BMW M Mixed Reality has been available in the
singleplayer mode since fall 2023 as part of the BMW M Driving
Experience in Maisach, the world's first driving experience for
customers. The pilot project began this year at the BMW M Performance
Driving School in California, USA.

Merging reality and the virtual world

The new BMW M Mixed Reality Rooftop Circuit was also a highlight at
the presentation of BMW M Mixed Reality. Drivers had to evade virtual
obstacles and collect BMW M coins in a shimmering metropolis. The BMW
M135 vehicles were used, which thanks to technical refinements can be
used as M Mixed Reality vehicles.

This includes very precise GPS positioning on the road surface in
order to transfer position and movement to the virtual world. Every
acceleration, every turn and every braking manoeuvre is transmitted to
the virtual world without latency thanks to precise sensor technology
and signal processing. Not only the movements of the vehicle are
transmitted, but also those of the driver.

The technology for this is already integrated into the standardised
in-vehicle systems of all BMW and BMW M automobiles. These systems are
so precise that no additional sensors are required.

Another key element is the VR headset that the driver wears to
experience the digital world. This headset must be connected to the
vehicle's internal systems in order to synchronise movements and data
in real time. Thanks to this equipment, various BMW M models can be
used for BMW M Mixed Reality, regardless of the drive system. This
includes vehicles with a conventional combustion engine such as the
BMW M2 or BMW M4 as well as models with a fully electric powertrain
such as the BMW i5 M60. In the future, BMW M can also imagine offering
the new BMW M5 with M Mixed Reality. The technology is flexible and
can be adapted to different vehicle platforms to provide a consistent
and immersive mixed reality experience.

Digital innovations for the driving experience

BMW Group Mixed Reality is an answer to what future virtual
experiences in the automotive sector could look like. At the current
stage of development, it enables perfect controllability in every
driving situation. Drifting will also be possible in the future,
although no date has yet been set for when customers will be able to
have this experience.

MINI also benefits from the BMW Group Mixed Reality umbrella: There
are also plans to offer customers a multi-sensory mixed reality
driving experience.

In addition, further applications in the field of vehicle development
and professional training are already being investigated. For example,
there is potential as a valuable addition to existing simulator
driving in the dynamic driving area, without compromising driving
safety, or in the development of driver assistance systems. On
existing racetracks, a Professional Track Trainer could in the future
display content such as the ideal line and braking points to drivers
in order to train them to drive even more precisely. Current AR
headset technology is not yet accurate enough for this ambitious use case.

Exterior design: Dynamic front end and hallmark BMW proportions.

The sporty appearance of the BMW 1 Series in its fourth generation is
underscored by typical BMW proportions: a long bonnet, a passenger
cell set well back, a dynamically flowing roofline and a powerful rear
design. The dimensions of the five-door model have changed only
slightly compared to its predecessor. The exterior length of the new
BMW 1 Series has increased by 42 millimetres to 4,361 millimetres,
while the wheelbase is 2,670 millimetres. The vehicle width is 1,800
millimetres, while the height has increased by 25 millimetres to 1,459 millimetres.

With a strikingly flat front end that sits significantly lower to the
road than its predecessor, the new BMW 1 Series signals its sporty
character more than ever. The wide, forward-leaning BMW radiator
grille features an innovative structure comprised of vertical and
diagonal bars. The standard-fit LED headlights feature striking
vertical elements for the daytime running light and the turn
indicators. Adaptive LED headlights with glare-free matrix high beam,
cornering light function and blue accents are optionally available.

The side view of the new BMW 1 Series is characterised by the dynamic
wedge shape and the flat window graphics that taper towards the rear.
The standard BMW Individual high-gloss Shadow Line includes a graphic
element with the number 1 in the Hofmeister kink counter-swing on the
C-pillar. A long roof spoiler and side air deflectors emphasise the
stretched silhouette, while vertical reflectors and a black
diffuser-style insert add to the powerful appearance of the rear
apron. The striking, two-part rear lights extend well into the side sections.

The body paintwork of the new BMW 1 Series is available in two solid
finishes and seven metallic finishes, while four BMW Individual paint
finishes and a wide range of BMW Individual special paint finishes are
also available. The new BMW 1 Series is the first model in the brand's
range to be available with an optional contrasting roof paint finish,
with a high-gloss black finish which further adds to the sporty
appearance of the car.

BMW M automobile with individual performance character.

The new BMW 1 Series can be specified to look even more dynamic by
choosing the M Sport model offered in the UK, available at market
launch. The M specific design features include large air intakes on
the front apron, pronounced side skirts and a three- dimensional
diffuser element in the rear apron.

At the top of the model range is the BMW M135 xDrive (combined fuel
consumption: 184 – 174 mpg; CO2 emissions combined: 184 – 174 g/km
according to WLTP; CO2 classes: G - F) with significantly enhanced
performance characteristics. The BMW M model is powered by a 300 hp
four-cylinder engine, features an Adaptive M Chassis with sport
steering and intelligent all-wheel drive as standard and accelerates
from zero to 62 mph in 4.9 seconds. On the outside, the M radiator
grille with horizontal bars, M exterior mirror caps and four exhaust
tailpipes make it instantly recognisable as a top-of-the- range model.
An M Dynamic Package with specific suspension components, stiffness
and lightweight measures, an M Compound brake system and 19-inch
forged light-alloy wheels will be available exclusively for the BMW
M135 xDrive from Autumn 2024. The M Sport Pro pack and model-specific
BMW M Performance Parts are also available for all variants of the new
BMW 1 Series.

Sporty and premium ambience.

The newly designed interior of the new BMW 1 Series, which is
completely leather-free when Sport trim is selected, offers a modern
premium ambience with sporty accents and generous space for up to five
occupants. Newly designed Sport seats offer a high level of comfort
for long journeys, with the Econeer version featuring covers and
upholstery made from recycled polyester. Sport seats are offered as
standard in M Sport trim, or optionally available on Sport models.
Perforated seat surfaces finished in Veganza, which offers
leather-like properties, are optionally available in addition to the
part Veganza and Alcantara upholstery that is included in the standard
specification on both M Sport and M135 xDrive models.

Heated seats are standard across the 1 Series line-up, while lumbar
support can be added to the sport seats and M Sport seats. An optional
massage function is also available for the sport seats and an electric
memory function can be added as an option for all seat versions. A
driver and front passenger interaction airbag is now fitted as
standard to further enhance occupant protection. By folding down the
rear seat backrests, the storage space under the tailgate can be
increased from 380 litres to 1,200 litres (BMW 120: 300 -1,135 litres).

High-quality surfaces and trim, the redesigned gear selector and the
BMW Curved Display underline the progressive and premium ambience
inside the vehicle. The fully digital display system comprises a
10.25-inch Information Display and a 10.7-inch Control Display, which
also offers new functionality such as controlling the air conditioning
digitally via an always-visible array of controls. As an alternative
to the standard sport steering wheel, a similarly redesigned M leather
steering wheel is offered as standard on M Sport models which features
shift paddles for manual gear changes.

New generation of engines, 7-speed Steptronic transmission
with dual clutch as standard.

Like the BMW M135 xDrive engine, the three-cylinder petrol engine
found inside the new BMW 120 (combined fuel consumption: 47 - 53.2
mpg; CO2 emissions combined: 135 - 121 g/km according to WLTP; CO2
classes: D) is from the latest generation of BMW Group modular
engines. With a maximum power output of 170 hp, the new BMW 120
accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in 7.8 seconds, working in tandem with a

Note: This press release is a 1:1 copy of the original issued
by BMW headquarters in Germany. No adaptations have been made to
cater for the UK market.

Munich. BMW has honed the track-inspired
characteristics of its four-cylinder high-performance model for the
premium compact segment. Detail upgrades to its chassis components
endow the BMW M135i xDrive (fuel consumption combined: 7.8 – 7.3 l/100
km [36.2 – 38.7 mpg imp] as per WLTP; CO2 emissions combined: 177 –
167 g/km as per WLTP) with noticeably enhanced performance qualities.
And the retuned drive soundtrack in the cabin makes the driving
experience even more emotionally engaging.

The standout power of the 225 kW/306 hp four-cylinder unit with
BMW TwinPower Turbo technology under the bonnet of the BMW M135i
xDrive is harnessed more effectively than ever to produce the
captivating dynamics and driving experience for which BMW is renowned.
Detailed set-up modifications for the bespoke chassis technology
result in even better mounting, ensuring precisely controllable
driving characteristics even when pushing hard on the track. The
optimised traction enables drivers to explore the car’s performance
limits with confidence, especially when cornering at extremely high speeds.

Sharper cornering dynamics thanks to optimised camber values,
new mounts, and precision tuning of spring and damping
systems.
The camber values for the front wheels of the
BMW M135i xDrive have been increased to optimise absorption of lateral
forces when powering through corners. A new hydromount has
additionally been used to attach the front suspension wishbones, while
the mounts for the trailing and control arms at the rear axle have
also been redesigned. At the same time, the spring and damping systems
have undergone recalibration. The result is a significant improvement
in roll behaviour in corners, which has a further beneficial effect on
steering feel when the car’s sporting abilities are put to the test.

This latest raft of modifications reinforces the commitment of
the BMW M135i xDrive to delivering BMW’s hallmark driving pleasure.
Its chassis technology combines with the engine’s extremely sporty
performance characteristics and BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive
to create a flawlessly composed overall package for a richly engaging
drive. The compact BMW M model comes as standard with near-actuator
wheel slip limitation integrated into the engine control unit. The
resultant shortening of the signal paths allows traction to be
controlled up to ten times faster than with conventional systems when
pulling away, on slippery surfaces and during dynamic cornering. The
BMW M135i xDrive additionally benefits from a mechanical limited-slip
differential at the front axle.

Built into the car’s standard eight-speed Steptronic Sport
transmission, it enhances traction and directional stability along
with agility and cornering dynamics. With locking factors of 36 per
cent when accelerating and 26 per cent on the overrun, the
differential is capable of transferring extra torque to the front
wheel with better grip as and when required. The customary Dynamic
Stability Control (DSC) functions are complemented in the BMW M135i
xDrive by Performance Control, which optimises the car’s steering
behaviour with judicious applications of the brakes.

Specially tuned M Sport steering and exceptionally powerful M
Sport brakes can also be found on the standard equipment list for the
BMW M135i xDrive. The compact sports car leaves the factory on 18-inch
M light-alloy wheels as standard, with the option of 19-inch
light-alloy items available in a variety of designs.

Dramatic acoustic experience in the cabin.
The
twin-tailpipe exhaust system facilitates power delivery from the
engine with its reduced backpressure, while also producing a
characterful acoustic accompaniment. The distinctive, emotion-stirring
sound is also transmitted into the interior, where it is carefully
amplified through the audio system’s speakers.

The revised soundtrack conveys the signature four-cylinder
engine note of a BMW M model to those on board more authentically than
ever. The instant response to every movement of the accelerator is
translated into corresponding acoustic signals. From the powerful
building of torque under acceleration through to the drop-off in load
on the overrun, the power unit’s operating state is clearly
discernible at all times. Starting the engine prompts a sound
composition specially created for this model, adding another facet to
the rich acoustic experience inside the car.

New paint finishes for a high-impact look.
A new
selection of particularly striking paint finishes has been introduced
to accompany the performance enhancements and underscore the
individual character of the BMW M135i xDrive. BMW Individual paint
finishes and special customer requests can also now be incorporated
into the manufacturing process at BMW Group Plant Leipzig, where the
compact model is built. The special colours require additional
servicing and technical support work, with an increased number of
manual processes. To cater for this, an existing paint shop was
modified and the number of employees working there increased by ten.

The BMW Individual paint finishes bring even greater visual
impact to the high-performance model’s modern design language and
bespoke styling features. New additions to the range of exterior
colours for the BMW M135i xDrive include the M paint shade Sao Paulo
Yellow non-metallic, as well as the Frozen Orange metallic and Frozen
Pure Grey finishes.

CO2 EMISSIONS & CONSUMPTION.

Fuel consumption combined: 7.8 – 7.3 l/100 km [36.2 – 38.7 mpg imp]

designation returns with the BMW 128ti. Designed to deliver
exceptional driving enjoyment, with M Sport specification as standard,
the new BMW 128ti is an authentic ‘Turismo Internazionale’.

The exclusively front-wheel-drive model fulfils its sporting
promise with such features as the Torsen limited-slip differential,
specially tuned M Sport suspension, optimised eight-speed Steptronic
Sport automatic transmission and a 2.0-litre, 265hp engine with BMW
TwinPower Turbo technology.

With an advanced drivetrain that includes the anti-roll bars and
brakes of the flagship BMW M135i xDrive, it also features a sporty
exterior and driver-focused interior that boasts exclusive details to
distinguish it from other BMW 1 Series variants. It is also circa 80kg
lighter than the BMW M135i xDrive.

The new BMW 128ti is due for launch in November 2020 and will be
priced from £34,550 OTR.

M Sport specification as standard

The new BMW 128ti is based on the M Sport model
specification available for the BMW 1 Series, which includes
distinctive front and rear aprons.

The BMW 128ti adds specific additional trim, such as the outer
air intakes carried over from the front apron of the flagship
BMW M135i xDrive and the trim for the Air Curtains, in red. The side
sills containing the ‘ti’ badge are also red on cars finished in Storm
Bay metallic, Mineral Grey metallic, Sapphire Black metallic or Alpine
White paintwork. If the BMW 128ti is ordered in Melbourne Red metallic
or Misano Blue metallic, the accents and “ti” badge on the sill (which
can all be deleted, if desired) come in black and the sill reverts to
body colour.

Exclusive exterior features

The BMW 128ti has extended Shadowline trim with a
black BMW kidney grille and dual 90mm diameter black chrome tailpipe
finishers as standard. An even darker front-end appearance can be
achieved with the optional BMW Individual lights Shadowline, which are
largely devoid of chrome. The window surrounds feature BMW Individual
High-gloss Black Shadowline trim and the ‘128ti' badge on the tailgate
is in chrome. The 18-inch Y‑spoke 553 M bi-colour light-alloy wheels
are exclusive to the BMW 128ti.

The interior of the BMW 128ti features high-class materials,
with red accents throughout creating a bold contrast to the black
headlining. A large ‘Race Red’ surface adorns the front centre
sections of the standard Sensatec/cloth sport seats. A red ‘ti’ is
stitched into the centre armrest which – like the door armrests, the
door panels, the instrument panel and floor mat edging – also features
red contrast stitching. The steering wheel rim and airbag cover of the
standard M Sport steering wheel also feature red stitching. Standard
equipment also includes the M door sill strips on the front door
openings, and M seat belts. Boston backlit trim strips are standard
whilst the Berlin trim is available as an alternative.

Perforated Dakota leather and M Sport seats available as options

The M Sport seats are optionally available in
perforated Dakota leather – in Black or in Magma Red with grey
accents. If the latter is chosen, the contrast stitching and ‘ti’
badge are in grey and the floor mats have stitching in the BMW M colours.

The infotainment features of BMW Operating System 7.0 are
accessed via a display screen of up to 10.25 inches with the optional
BMW Live Cockpit Professional. Gesture control is also available
and a 9.2‑inch BMW Head-Up Display can be specified as options.
The load compartment has a capacity of 380 litres, rising to 1,200
litres with the rear seat folded. Electric tailgate operation is also
optionally available. Folding Mirrors, Heated Seats and cabin Ambient
Lighting are also included as standard.

Bespoke, lowered M Sport suspension

The new BMW 128ti is available exclusively with
specially tuned, bespoke M Sport suspension. It has the firmer
anti-roll bars and anti-roll bar mounts from the range‑topping BMW
M135i xDrive, plus stiffer modified springs and shock absorbers – it’s
also10mm lower. This, combined with a model-specific steering setup
that has been designed to further minimise torque steer, results is
even sharper driving dynamics. A weight saving of around 80kg over
the all-wheel-drive BMW M135i xDrive contributes to the sporting
performance of the BMW 128ti.

Torsen limited-slip differential for improved traction

The BMW 128ti is equipped with the same Torsen
limited-slip differential as the BMW M135i xDrive. As well as
increasing traction, agility and stability, the limited-slip
differential also gives the car excellent cornering ability.

If the inside wheel loses grip while powering through a bend and
the driver accelerates at the same time, the limited-slip differential
directs more torque to the wheel with greater grip, thereby preventing
wheel slip and enhancing traction and agility.

BMW Performance Control and ARB technology

The mechanical limited-slip differential is assisted
by several electronic control systems. One system that has been
specially modified for the BMW 128ti is BMW Performance Control, whose
‘sharper’ yaw moment distribution boosts rear axle agility. ARB
(near-actuator wheel slip limitation) technology is also utilised, as
it is on all models in the BMW 1 Series range. This newly developed
traction control system, that made its combustion-engine debut on the
1 Series, features a slip controller positioned directly in the engine
control unit rather than in the control unit for the DSC (Dynamic
Stability Control) system, enabling ARB to work ten times faster. As a
result, not only is operation smoother and more sensitive, the system
can also make maximum use of the potential traction offered by
different road surfaces. The ARB technology works with DSC to
significantly reduce the power understeer that can affect
front-wheel-drive cars.

Standard M Sport brakes and sport tyres

As in the BMW M135i xDrive, the BMW 128ti is fitted
with M Sport brakes, which provide increased fade resistance and
exceptional feel. The front callipers bear the M logo and are painted
red (a first for a BMW 1 Series model). The front brakes consist of
aluminium four‑piston monoblock fixed callipers and 360mm x 30mm
inner-vented discs, while floating callipers with inner-vented brake
discs measuring 300mm x 20mm are at the rear.

The 18-inch Y-spoke 553 M bi-colour light-alloy wheels
exclusively fitted on the BMW 128ti can be specified with sport tyres
(either Pirelli P Zero or Michelin Pilot Sport 4) in 225/40 R18 format
as a no-cost option.

The 19-inch double-spoke 552 M light-alloy wheel with 235/35 R19
tyres is also optionally available.

265hp, 2.0-litre engine with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology

The engine in the BMW 128ti is a direct offshoot of
the BMW Group’s most powerful four-cylinder unit. The 2.0-litre engine
was modified with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology and produces 265hp
from 4,750-6,500rpm. Peak torque of 400Nm is available from
1,750-4,500rpm. The BMW 128ti can sprint from 0-62mph in 6.1 seconds
and reach a limited top speed of 155mph. Despite this strong
performance, the 128ti returns combined fuel consumption of 44.1 –
46.3mpg* and emits only 148-139g/km of CO2*. This enables
it to meet the Euro 6d exhaust standard. The standard Active Sound
Design (ASD) ensures the driver can enjoy a distinctive engine sound
in the cabin without any increase in external noise.

München. During its final test phase, the new compact
sports car BMW 128ti (combined fuel consumption: 6.4 – 6,1 l/100 km;
combined CO2 emissions: 148 – 139 g/km*) is currently
undergoing thorough calibration test drives on the hilly roads of the
Eifel around the Nordschleife of the Nürburgring and, of course, also
directly on the world’s most demanding racetrack. A special focus lies
on the dynamic handling characteristics of the new variant of the BMW
1 Series, which has been consistently designed for active driving
pleasure. The new model will be brought to market in November 2020.

Sports car with a character of its own.
The
front-wheel drive BMW 128ti is positioned directly below the
top-of-the-range model of the BMW 1 Series, the BMW M135i xDrive
(combined fuel consumption: 7.1 – 6.8 l/100 km; combined
CO2 emissions: 162 – 154 g/km) and also features its newly
developed 2-litre engine. The four-cylinder with BMW TwinPower Turbo
Technology beneath the bonnet of the BMW 128ti has a power output of
195 kW (265 bhp), facilitating sporty driving performance such as the
sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds. However, the new BMW 128ti
is much more than just a new BMW 1 Series variant. In addition to many
differentiating exterior and interior features, the entire suspension
and steering were specifically tuned to offer extremely sporty and
driver-oriented driving dynamics. Consequently, the new, exclusively
front-wheel drive sports car addresses a particularly young target
group with a focus on typical BMW driving pleasure.

Technical highlights for high precision and direct
response.
The new BMW 128ti comes as standard with the
8-speed Steptronic sport transmission and a Torsen limited-slip
differential, providing for better traction on the front axle. It has
a specifically tuned M sport suspension including lowering by 10mm as
well as BMW Performance Control, which has been specially adapted for
increased agility. Furthermore, the steering has been specifically
aligned to the vehicle for precise reactions, providing the driver
with direct response. Moreover, the BMW 128ti is around 80 kilos
lighter than the four-wheel drive BMW M135i xDrive, from which it
takes the highly pre-stressed stabiliser bearing and the stabilisers.
Sports tyres are optionally available to the customer at no extra
charge and guarantee even more driving pleasure. M sport brakes known
from the top-of-the-range model guarantee braking characteristics that
match the driving performance.

CO2 EMISSIONS & CONSUMPTION.

boasts an excellent position in the all-wheel-drive market, a segment
it first entered 30 years ago. Around one in three BMW cars sold
around the world is now equipped with the intelligent BMW xDrive
all-wheel-drive system. BMW’s success in this segment has been driven
not only by the ever-popular BMW X models but also by all-wheel-drive
models based on the other model series, from the BMW 1 Series to the
BMW 7 Series. Across these model series, a large choice of AWD models
is offered in a wide range of engine versions. At the same time, BMW
continues to refine this technology and take it in new directions. By
offering BMW xDrive in combination with a hybrid drive and with a
front-wheel-drive platform, the company has repeatedly demonstrated
its proficiency in the all-wheel-drive field, proficiency that will
secure BMW’s position at the forefront of this sector well into the
future. Today, BMW offers more than 110 models – of either
transmission type – with BMW xDrive in 12 different model series, as
well as the plug-in hybrid BMW i8 sports car and the compact BMW 225xe
with electrified all-wheel drive.

The focus from day one: traction and dynamics.

BMW’s first foray into the all-wheel-drive market came
with the unveiling of the BMW 325i “Allrad” at the Frankfurt Motor
Show (IAA) in 1985. From the outside, the newcomer didn’t immediately
reveal its inner qualities, so its performance when the journalists
took it out on the test track was even more of an eye-opener. This
very first BMW all-wheel-drive system not only improved traction away
from surfaced roads and in adverse weather conditions, but also made
for more dynamic handling through corners. “The new BMW is the new
champion when it comes to handling,” was the verdict of the testers
from German car magazine Auto Zeitung not long after the first unveiling.

Today, the intelligent BMW xDrive all-wheel-drive system takes
typical BMW driving dynamics to new levels. The current generation of
this system is controlled by the Integrated Chassis Management (ICM)
system, which ensures that xDrive always responds appropriately at the
earliest possible moment, based on reliable sensing and monitoring of
the current driving situation. The interventions may be performed
either entirely by BMW xDrive, or by xDrive in combination with
Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) or Dynamic Performance Control (DPC).
The resulting fast and precise control of drive power distribution
ensures typical BMW handling characteristics even under extremely
dynamic cornering.

The all-wheel-drive system is biased towards the typical BMW
rear-wheel-drive characteristics. That is to say, on the
all-wheel-drive models a greater share of the drive power is sent to
the rear wheels, even under normal driving conditions. This maintains
the typical BMW precise steering response, with virtually no torque
steer. For crisp turn-in and high tracking stability, the
latest-generation BMW xDrive system starts increasing the amount of
power sent to the rear wheels as soon as the vehicle enters a corner,
further enhancing the driving pleasure for which BMW is a byword.

BMW all-wheel-drive technology: continuous evolution since 1985.
The full-time all-wheel-drive system featured on the BMW 325i
“Allrad” of 1985 split the drive power in a ratio of 37 to 63 per cent
between the front and rear wheels. In response to wheel speed
differences, visco locks in the transfer case and rear differential
were capable of providing a virtually rigid connection between the
front and rear wheels, in order to improve traction and stability.
This model’s name was soon changed to BMW 325iX, and from 1988 it was
offered in a “touring” version as well (lower-case spelling up to and
including the E46 series).

1991: BMW 525iX.
Three years on, BMW introduced an all-wheel-drive model in the
BMW 5 Series too. For the first time, the power split was now
electronically controlled. The newly developed system featured
multi-plate clutches that allowed the default 36:64 front-to-rear
power split to be varied seamlessly and automatically in line with
driving conditions. Initially a hydraulically controlled multi-plate
clutch was used at the rear axle, but this was later replaced by
electronically controlled selective braking intervention. The system
monitored the driving situation using wheel speed signals from the
Anti-lock Braking System, supplemented by further information about
brake status, engine speed and throttle valve position.

From the outset the all-wheel-drive system of the BMW 525iX was a
class apart. The electronic control system delivered a very fast and
precise response, resulting in safe, neutral handling characteristics
even in difficult driving conditions, such as on wet roads or snow. In
the BMW 5 Series, too, the first all-wheel-drive models were offered
in both Sedan and touring versions.

1999: The Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) opens a new chapter.
In the run-up to the new millennium, a highly innovative vehicle
concept from BMW made its sensational debut. The BMW X5, the first
Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV), impressed customers with driving
dynamics that were unmatched among other all-terrain vehicles of the
time. The outstanding all-wheel-drive system played a big part in
this. A planetary gear system split the drive power in a ratio of
38:62 per cent between the front and rear wheels, while electronic
control systems such as DSC (Dynamic Stability Control), ADB-X
(Automatic Differential Brake) and HDC (Hill Descent Control) ensured
the new BMW X5 was both sporty on the road and equipped to handle
challenging conditions off the beaten track.

In the years following the successful launch of the SAV concept,
there was no let-up in the fast pace of all-wheel-drive development at
BMW. The next year, 2000, a model-specific version of the BMW X5’s
all-wheel drive technology became available for the fourth generation
of the BMW 3 Series.

2003: BMW xDrive makes its debut in the BMW X3 and BMW X5.
Four years on from the debut of the BMW X5 in 1999, BMW kept up
the momentum by launching the SAV concept in a further vehicle
segment. The new BMW X3 was more compact than the BMW X5 and offered
even more agile handling. It set new benchmarks and remained the only
premium model in its class for years to come.

The newly developed BMW xDrive all-wheel-drive system, which was
introduced in the same year in both the BMW X3 and the BMW X5, soon
extended BMW’s lead in the AWD segment. Based on an extremely
fast-acting electronic multi-plate clutch in the transfer case, xDrive
worked in tandem with the Dynamic Stability Control system (DSC) to
continuously adapt the drive power split to the current driving
situation. In addition to wheel speed, for the first time the
electronic control system also took into account Dynamic Stability
Control data, for example about steering angle, accelerator position
and lateral acceleration. This is what makes BMW xDrive the world’s
first, and still only, “intelligent” all-wheel-drive system. Unlike
conventional all-wheel-drive systems, which only react when at least
one wheel is already spinning, xDrive is able to detect a risk of
oversteer or understeer at the very first signs, and proactively
corrects this by redirecting the flow of drive power.

In the years that followed, the BMW xDrive intelligent
all-wheel-drive system was fitted not only on the X models but also on
the xDrive versions of the BMW 3 and 5 Series Sedan and Touring
models. By the time the second generation of the BMW X3 was introduced
in 2010, more than 600,000 units of this series had already been sold
worldwide. A little earlier, sales of the BMW X5 – which entered its
second generation in 2006 – had topped the one million mark.

2008: SAC with Dynamic Performance Control and hybrid
drive.
With the two Sports Activity Vehicles now firmly
established in their respective segments, in 2007 BMW went on to
present the world’s first Sports Activity Coupe. Unveiled at the
Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA), the brand-new BMW X6 elevated the typical
dynamic character of the BMW X models to a new level of intensity. For
the first time, the intelligent all-wheel-drive system was combined
with Dynamic Performance Control (DPC), which varies the drive power
split between the rear wheels when cornering to ensure unrivalled
agility and stability, even under sudden throttle changes or on
overrun. In 2009, the BMW Active Hybrid X6 demonstrated a further
perfect pairing – between BMW xDrive and hybrid propulsion. Meanwhile,
in the same year, BMW M GmbH added two very special models to its
range of high-performance sports cars. With an M-tuned BMW xDrive
system, including Dynamic Performance Control, the BMW X5 M and BMW X6
M boasted performance that was previously unknown in the
all-wheel-drive market.

2009 also saw the arrival of a new X model, the BMW X1. For many
years to come, the BMW X1 was destined to remain the only vehicle of
its kind in the premium compact segment. Its intelligent BMW xDrive
all-wheel-drive system, like that of the new BMW X3 (2010), was also
combinable with Performance Control. This system selectively brakes
the wheel on the inside of a turn while simultaneously increasing
engine power, resulting in quick and precise turn-in to corners and
taking the agile handling of both models to new levels.

BMW xDrive also available for other model series.
The steady advance of the BMW X models has been accompanied by
an increase in the number of xDrive versions offered in the other BMW
model series too. Designed to improve cornering agility and precision,
BMW xDrive provides an enhanced driving experience and an optimal
combination of dynamics and comfort. So it was only a matter of time
before this intelligent drive technology made its debut in the BMW 7
Series as well, in 2009. In spring 2012, the first all-wheel-drive
Coupe and Convertible models were then offered in the sporty BMW 6
Series. BMW xDrive can also be specified on the current BMW 3 and 5
Series and, since 2013, on the Convertible, Coupe and Gran Coupe
models of the new BMW 4 Series.

Driving progress ever forward.
BMW took things forward in the premium mid-sized segment with
the launch of the BMW X4 in 2014. The new Sports Activity Coupe offers
a unique blend of driving enjoyment, sophisticated style and
contemporary practicality. It comes with BMW xDrive as standard and is
available in a wide range of engine versions. In the same year, BMW
also presented the third generation of the BMW X5, the second
generation of the BMW X6, and M Sport versions of both models. BMW
xDrive also made its debut in the new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer. This
was a debut with a difference, being the first time BMW had combined
its intelligent all-wheel-drive system with an all-new
front-wheel-drive format.

With the BMW i8, unveiled in 2014, the BMW Group took a bold new step
in new directions – which also extended to the all-wheel-drive system.
This 2+2-seater sports model is powered by a highly advanced plug-in
hybrid drive system that pairs an internal combustion engine driving
the rear wheels with a high-performance electric motor driving the
front wheels.

Focused on the future: BMW xDrive meets BMW eDrive.
BMW’s latest all-wheel-drive models bring technology advances
that are firmly focused on the future of mobility. The BMW i8 was
followed by the international launch of the first production plug-in
hybrid model from the BMW core brand: the BMW X5 xDrive40e. Thanks to
full-time BMW xDrive all-wheel-drive and eDrive BMW EfficientDynamics
technology, this Sports Activity Vehicle mates thrilling and
effortless sporty performance with outstanding efficiency. Intelligent
hybrid power management synchronises the operation of the internal
combustion engine and the electric motor to maximise efficiency at all
times, while also responding perfectly to the driver’s demands. The
drive from the two power units is transferred to the road via the
full-time BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system.

BMW 7 Series: Integral Active Steering combinable with BMW xDrive.
In September 2015, the sixth generation of the BMW 7 Series
makes its world debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA). This high-end
BMW luxury model pioneers groundbreaking innovations on all fronts,
and will be available with BMW xDrive from its market launch in
October. The new luxury sedan will also be the first model to allow
intelligent all-wheel-drive to be combined with Integral Active
Steering – that is to say with passively steering rear wheels.

fleet publications. BusinessCar magazine has honoured BMW with
the headline accolade of ‘Manufacturer of the Year’, for
the fourth year in a row, in recognition of BMW’s diverse
product portfolio and class-leading running costs.

‘Business Car of the Year’ has been awarded to the new
BMW 1 Series in honour of its appealing overall package with low
running costs making the smallest BMW just as tempting as its larger
family members. The BMW 320d EfficientDynamics Saloon has been
named ‘Green Car of the Year’ for the second year in a row
thanks to its class-leading driving dynamics coupled with exceptional
economy and attractive ownership costs.

For the third year in a row both the BMW X5 and BMW 3 Series Saloon
held onto their titles, having once again been named ‘Large 4x4
of the Year’ and ‘Upper Medium Car of the Year’
respectively. Topping off the awards haul, the BMW 7 Series was
also voted ‘Luxury Car of the Year’.

The BusinessCar Awards are the only honours voted for solely by the
title’s readers, reflecting the opinions of the people who
really matter in the fleet industry, which gives them a particular gravitas.

Paul Barker, Editor of BusinessCar commented: "BMW's impressive
and class-leading combination of desirability, efficiency and driving
pleasure has again shown itself, with this haul of awards, decided by
the readers of BusinessCar, proving that the brand is at the forefront
of the company car market.

"Across the range there is a model for every level of employee,
each one offering low tax bills, good running costs and the premium
BMW badge. The people running these vehicles and giving them to their
staff obviously appreciate the job BMW is doing."
Munich. Five years of production, four body variants
and one million times Sheer Driving Pleasure in the compact class. The
BMW 1 Series has already reached a seven-digit production volume in
its first model generation, clearly confirming its status as a genuine
best seller in the international car market.

Accounting for one million units sold since its debut in 2004, the
BMW 1 Series is also one of the driving forces for the
outstanding success of the world’s leading manufacturer of
premium cars.

The anniversary model was delivered to its proud owner on Monday, 12
April, on the occasion of the Leipzig Motor Show, the Auto Mobil
International (AMI). The car, a three-door BMW 118d built at BMW Plant
Leipzig, was handed over jointly by Frank-Peter Arndt, Member of the
Board of BMW AG for Production, and Stanislaw Tillich, the Prime
Minister of the Free State of Saxony, to a customer from Leipzig.

The BMW 1 Series offers an incomparable combination of sporting
driving pleasure and outstanding efficiency. Now available as a
three-door Sedan, a five-door Sedan, a Coupé and Convertible,
the BMW 1 Series stands out clearly as the only car in the compact
segment with rear-wheel drive. High-tech suspension technology
unparalleled in this class to this very day also serves to guarantee
characteristic driving pleasure in the BMW 1 Series.

As yet a further essential feature, the BMW 1 Series is available
with Active Steering varying not only steering assistance, but also
the steering angle as a function of speed.

Germany’s leading premium manufacturer also proves the unique
position of the BMW 1 Series versus its competitors through new
concepts and philosophies in communication. Young, fresh,
unconventional – this is how BMW’s highly successful
compact model has been presented from the start. Highlights
unforgotten to this day are the launch campaign starring Kermit, the
frog from the Muppets Show, sitting at the wheel, or the highly
dynamic launch campaign introducing the BMW 1 Series in the USA, where
at an imaginary place in Bavaria the BMW 1 Series is to be
“shot” straight to the USA on a gigantic ramp. And last
but certainly not least in this context, the launch campaign for the
BMW 1 Series Coupé was lauded as the best advertising by Auto
Trophy, the German car magazine, under the title “Condensed Intensity”.

BMW 1 Series as the pacemaker in reducing both fuel consumption and
CO2 emissions.

From the start, the BMW 1 Series played a significant role in giving
BMW EfficientDynamics a broad impact in the market. The wide range of
BMW EfficientDynamics technologies including Auto Start Stop, a
Gearshift Point Indicator, Brake Energy Regeneration, Electric Power
Steering as well as other ancillary units activated and operated
on-demand – naturally all this featured as standard –
highlights the four-cylinder models in the BMW 1 Series introduced in
the 2007 model year for the first time.

Ever since, the ongoing popularity of the BMW 1 Series has helped to
consistently reduce both fleet consumption and average CO2 emissions.
In 2009, for example, the average CO2 emissions of all BMW Group cars
registered in Europe was 150 grams per kilometre, equal to fuel
consumption of just 5.9 litres/100 km (47.9 mpg imp). This once
again makes BMW far superior to the most important competitors in the
premium segment in terms of CO2 management and emission control.

Boasting a model range larger than ever before, the BMW 1 Series once
again emphasises its unique position in 2010 as the pacemaker for
efficient mobility combined with supreme driving pleasure in the
compact class. In all, the four body versions of BMW 1 Series now come
with a choice of six petrol and, respectively, four diesel engines.
The power range extends from 85 kW/ 115 hp in the entry-level BMW 116d
all the way to 225 kW / 306 hp in the two top athletes in the segment,
the BMW 135i Coupé and the BMW 135i Convertible.

Currently no less than five models in the BMW 1 Series already come
with a CO2 emission rating of less than 120 grams per kilometre. The
absolute leader in terms of fuel efficiency and emission management in
the series is the BMW 116d, its 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel
delivering maximum output of 85 kW / 115 hp, peak torque of 260
Newton-metres/192 lb-ft, and, in combination with various BMW
EfficientDynamics technologies also featured as standard on this
model, average fuel consumption in the EU test cycle of just 4.4
litres/100 kilometres – equal to 64.2 mpg imp – and a CO2
rating of 118 grams per kilometre.

The unusually good balance of driving pleasure and fuel economy makes
the BMW 116d particularly attractive also for the operator and owner
of company and commercial car fleets. Immediately after its launch
into the market, BMW’s entry-level diesel scored a class victory
in the campaign for the “Company Car of the Year 2009”. In
this contest organised jointly by the German motor journal
“Firmenauto” and the DEKRA Technical Inspection Company,
the BMW 116d came first in the category of compact cars.

This award proves once again that fleet managers appreciate efficient
driving pleasure in two respects as a feature helping to motivate a
company’s employees and at the same time keep the
company’s budget as low and economical as possible.

Internationally, the BMW 1 Series has likewise gained an outstanding
reputation through its supreme efficiency: As early as in 2008, the
three-door BMW 118d was chosen as the “World Green Car of the
Year”. This special award presented by an international jury of
motor journalists honours vehicles and technologies making a specific
contribution to the reduction of emissions and in this way symbolising
the outstanding environmental awareness of the respective manufacturer.

The BMW 118d powered likewise by a 2.0-litre 105 kW / 143 hp diesel
is now available in all body variants of the BMW 1 Series.

Premium quality and innovative model features for even greater
driving pleasure in the compact class.

The BMW 1 Series is made even more appealing by its uncompromising
premium quality and a wide range of model features quite unique in the
compact segment. One example is the latest generation of BMW’s
trendsetting iDrive control system also available in the BMW 1 Series.
Originally conceived and developed for the luxury class, BMW iDrive
ensures particularly easy and intuitive management of entertainment,
communication, navigation, and comfort functions.

Another highlight again unique in the compact segment is the
extremely wide range of driver assistance systems and mobility
services offered by BMW ConnectedDrive. Hence, the BMW 1 Series may be
fitted with features either not available at all from the competition
or only in their top class and luxury models. These include a
High-Beam Assistant, Adaptive Headlights or the Park Assistant, as
well as unrestricted use of the internet in the car.

The services offered through BMW Assist and BMW Online may be used
throughout Europe in the language of the car’s respective owner.
Additional safety and comfort is ensured by the Enhanced Emergency
Call function informing rescuers in the event of an accident of the
type of damage and the likelihood of injury and thus ensuring
appropriate medical services from the start, the Driver’s
Profile function for convenient application of personal settings, or
the Mobile Office / Online Office enabling the driver to use various
office functions in his mobile phone, for example presenting and
processing mails received in the car’s display.

Further highlights are the enhanced integration of Smartphones and
external entertainment devices.

When going on a journey, the owner of a BMW 1 Series may download his
route planned in advance through BMW Online into the car’s
navigation system, putting together destinations and sights on the way
or going to special destinations directly through Google Local Search.

The latest weather information, to present yet another example, may
be shown in the navigation map and the Enquiry Service is able to
provide data on automatic cash machines, local pharmacies as well as
cultural events, flights, restaurants or hotels, specialists at the
BMW Call Center making bookings or reservations on request for the

Particularly attractive, sophisticated and carefully matched features
are available in the 2010 model year in both the Lifestyle and Sport
Edition models of the three-door and five-door BMW 1 Series.

Production of the BMW 1 Series at BMW’s ultra-modern Leipzig
Plant stands for maximum efficiency, flexibility, and quality. The
outstanding level of quality is also borne out by the lasting value of
the car and its superior reliability confirmed time and again in
non-partisan tests. Currently, for example, the BMW 130i holds the top
position in the ranking of endurance car tests carried out by the
German car magazine “Auto Bild”: Covering a distance of
100,000 kilometres or 62,000 miles, this sporting version of
BMW’s most compact model scored the best result of all cars
tested in 2009. Giving the BMW 130i a 1+ mark, the journal’s
professional testers lauded it clearly as the “Best Auto Bild
Endurance Test Car of All Times”.

BMW Plant Leipzig plays an important role in the current and future
plans of Germany’s leading premium car maker. Currently both the
BMW 1 Series and the BMW X1 are built in Leipzig. At the same time,
however, BMW Plant Leipzig is being prepared for production of an
all-electric production model currently being developed by the BMW
Group. The plan is to establish an integrated production network with
two sites in Bavaria, important components being built in Wackersdorf
and Landshut and the car itself, the Megacity Vehicle planned as part
of BMW project i, coming off the production line in Leipzig.

BMW Plant Leipzig was built in the north-east of the city at an
investment of more than Euro 1 billion and is conceived as a
production plant with an integrated Delivery Centre for external
suppliers. Some 5,000 employees work throughout the entire premises on
the production of premium cars for the BMW brand, making BMW the
biggest employer in Leipzig.

Applying flexible working time concepts and shift systems, BMW Plant
Leipzig currently builds up to 700 cars a day and more, depending on
demand in the market.

Ever since the Plant started production in 2005, no less than 662,000
cars have come off the line here. In Germany alone, sales of the BMW 1
Series amount to 336.017 units since the introduction of this model.

Press Contact: Manfred Poschenrieder
Tel: +49-89-382-28720
E-mail: manfred.poschenrieder@bmwna.com

Press Release,Events,1 Series,Product,BMW

This is generally accepted as the
first victory for a diesel car in a top line international event. Now customers
wanting to emulate this success can buy a 120d car with a racing package.

Powered by a 1,995cc diesel engine, the BMW Motorsport-equipped 120d provides
245hp and 450Nm of torque from its modified engine. A lowered suspension with
adjustable anti-roll bars and dampers feature along with 332mm front disc
brakes with six-piston callipers and 284mm rear disc brakes with four-piston
callipers. Lightweight BBS alloy wheels, a full aero package including rear
diffuser, and a stripped out weight-saving interior also serve to increase
performance.

An indication of the potential of the new car was heralded when it won its
class in the inaugural Dubai 24 Hours race in January - a test race for the new
120d model - and finished ninth overall.

The racing package for the BMW 120d is offered for 95,000 Euros plus tax in
addition to the on-the-road price of the 'standard' car.

BMW Motorsport has also launched a racing package for the forthcoming Z4 M
Coupé. With a highly-tuned version of the five-time International Engine of the
Year category winning 3.2-litre powerplant, the racing Z4 M Coupé comes with
400hp and 400Nm of torque at the driver's disposal. Mated to a six-speed manual
gearbox and with drive being fed to the rear wheels, the Z4 M Coupé features
suspension knowledge gained from the championship winning BMW M3 GTR car for
optimum on-track agility. Six-piston brake callipers act on the front brake
disc measuring 380mm in diameter, while four-piston callipers at the rear
compress brake discs measuring 320mm in diameter to provide supreme stopping
power. Changes to the engine management system, new carbon fibre engine air
intakes, 120-litre fuel tank and extensive aerodynamic improvements are some of
the other notable changes.

The BMW Motorsport package for the Z4 M Coupé is available for 250,000 Euros
plus tax in addition to the list price of the car.

Ends

Press Contact: Chris Overall
Tel: +447815370990
E-mail: chris.overall@bmw.co.uk

Press Release,1 Series,Product,BMW
