performance icon, but as a market leader across both two and four
wheels. For the first time, BMW South Africa and BMW Motorrad South
Africa have teamed up to develop twin editions that show off their
family connections. The collaboration sees both brands introduce
special editions of their high-performance models, enhanced with
additional M character, strong personalisation and offered only in
South Africa.

The BMW M2 Coupé RR Edition and BMW M 1000 RR M2
Edition (along with the BMW S 1000 RR M2 Edition) are
available to order exclusively in South Africa. The 10 BMW M2 Coupe
RR Editions and BMW M 1000 RR / S 1000 RR M2
Editions are distinguished by black paintwork with striking red
accents, alongside distinct BMW M branding (where applicable).

The BMW S 1000 RR M2 Edition and BMW M 1000 RR M2 Edition

South Africa’s best-selling sports motorcycle, the BMW S 1000 RR
gains distinct red accents to set it apart from standard S 1000 RRs.
All units of the BMW S 1000 RR M2 Edition are finished in Black Storm
Metallic with red accents on the front fairing and the passenger seat
cover. It gains a tinted windscreen, M-embossed seat and red-accented
Design Option Wheels.

Based on the pinnacle of BMW sports motorcycles, the M 1000 RR M2
Edition finished in Black Storm Metallic features red accents on
its distinctive M carbon wheel rims, on the fuel tank, front fairings.
The distinctive front M winglets bear the RR insignia in a striking
red finish.

Both BMW S 1000 RR M2 Edition and BMW M 1000 RR M2
Editions see the distinctive RR logos on their front side
fairings finished in bright red. Similarly, they are both offered with
Akrapovič exhaust systems. Both are technically identical to the BMW
S 1000 RR and BMW M 1000 RR models on which they are based.

Available immediately, the BMW S 1000 RR M2 Edition is
R406,950.00, while the BMW M 1000 RR M2 Edition costs
R882,100.00. For more information, please visit bmw-motorrad.co.za.

BMW M2 Coupé RR Edition

Mechanically, the BMW M2 Coupé RR Edition is identical to
the current BMW
M2 Coupé with its signature 353-kW high-revving six-cylinder
in-line petrol engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology.

It is, however, distinguished by its Black Sapphire Metallic
paintwork, M Performance suspension (with red springs) lower by 20mm,
and M Performance wheels with a Jet Black finish. Dimensions are
20-inch at the front axle, and 21-inch at the rear. Aerodynamic
ability is bolstered by front and rear splitters painted black with
red inserts. At the rear, two spoilers adorn the BMW M2 Coupé RR
Edition: a roof spoiler finished in black, and a flowthrough boot
spoiler finished in black with a red stripe as accent. A specially
customised Akrapovič exhaust has been developed for this Edition.

In the cabin, the seats are black with red bolsters and red contrast
stitching, inspired by the steering wheel’s red centre marker in the
12 o’clock position and two M buttons for selecting individually
configured vehicle setups. Another distinguishing feature on all RR
Editions is the standard sunroof, which is only available for this Edition.

Five six-speed manual, and five eight-speed M Steptronic transmission
with Drivelogic units will be offered once the models become available
in the fourth quarter of 2026. Final pricing will be determined at
launch.

The new BMW M 1000 RR, BMW S 1000 RR, BMW M 1000 R, and BMW S
1000 R: The superbikes and hyper naked bikes are set to enter the
upcoming season with even more dynamism.
Both the
superbikes M 1000 RR and S 1000 RR, as well as the emotional hyper
naked bikes M 1000 R and S 1000 R, have been technically and visually
updated and come with expanded standard features for the upcoming
motorcycle season. Common changes include the Euro 5+ homologation of
the engines and the inclusion of the M short-stroke throttle with a
reduced rotation angle.

BMW M 1000 RR: Drastically Increased Performance through More
Power, Enhanced Downforce, and Steering Angle Sensor Technology.

The new M 1000 RR – abbreviated as M RR – benefits from a significant
power increase of the inline-four engine by 4 kW (6 hp) to 160 kW (218
hp) thanks to an extensive package of measures.

Additionally, it features optimised aerodynamics through a newly
designed front fairing. The newly constructed M Winglets 3.0, with
drastically increased downforce, support even faster lap times on the
racetrack. Furthermore, the Flex Frame has been further developed and
now includes a new engine mount on the left side.

BMW Motorrad has also made improvements to the control systems. The
Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) now features the new Slide Control
function thanks to steering angle sensor technology. This has resulted
in a new subdivision of the DTC into Slip Control and Slide Control.
The introduction of steering angle sensor technology has also led to
the new Brake Slide Assist function of the BMW Race ABS Pro. Combined
with the M short-stroke throttle, this results in significantly
increased performance and control.

As before, the new M RR is offered in two versions: the M 1000 RR
base variant in the primary colour Lightwhite uni and the
M 1000
RR M Competition in the primary colour Blackstorm metallic, each
combined with graphics in M colors.

BMW S 1000 RR: Even higher track performance and significantly
enhanced standard features.
The S 1000 RR –
abbreviated as Double-R – has been significantly refined, especially
for track use. The M short-stroke throttle allows the S 1000 RR to
respond even more directly to every command at the throttle, new
winglets provide increased downforce, a new front wheel cover with
integrated brake ducts improves brake cooling, and new fairing side
panels offer a more striking design.

Additionally, the standard features of the Double-R have been
significantly enhanced. The Pro riding modes are now standard,
including additional "Race Pro" modes, two more combinations
of throttle response and engine torque, as well as the Engine Brake
and Hill Start Control Pro functions, five-level adjustable ABS in the
"Race Pro" modes, and the ABS setting "Slick." The
Dynamic Brake Control (DBC) is also a new standard feature.

The new S 1000 RR is offered in three attractive colour schemes: the
base variant in Blackstorm metallic, the Sport model variant in
Bluestone metallic with matte graphic applications, and the M
Motorsport variant in Lightwhite uni/M Motorsport in combination with
the M package.

BMW M 1000 R: Refinement for the M Hyper Naked
Bike.
For the upcoming season, the M 1000 R –
abbreviated as M R – has received a more dynamic design with the new
dual-flow LED headlight derived from the RR models and the M logo in
the air intake between the headlights.

The new M 1000 R is available as a base variant in the color scheme
Lightwhite uni/M Motorsport and in the new colour White Aluminium
metallic matt. In the M Competition equipment variant, this paint is
also available alongside the colour scheme Blackstorm metallic/M Motorsport.

In all colour schemes, the rear frame and swingarm of the new model
year are in Platinum Grey metallic. The winglets are finished in black
textured paint, and the covers for the clutch and generator are also
coated in black.

The traction control DTC has also been revised. The control strategy
has been derived from the RR models and, in combination with the M
short-stroke throttle, brings a noticeable improvement, especially in
Race mode for track days.

An expanded range of Original BMW Motorrad accessories and special
equipment completes the scope of changes.

BMW S 1000 R: Hyper Naked Bike with increased power and
enhanced standard features.
The hyper naked bike S
1000 R – abbreviated as Single-R – now starts with an even more
powerful inline-four engine, offering 125 kW (170 hp). A shorter final
drive ratio enhances sprint performance. The optimised standard Shift
Assistant Pro supports even smoother gear changes. Combined with the
new M short-stroke throttle, this results in a significantly more
dynamic setup and noticeably better acceleration in all situations.
Additionally, the traction control DTC of the S 1000 R benefits from
the revisions made to the DTC from the M 1000 R, further enhancing its performance.

The new Single-R also receives the new dual-flow LED headlight
derived from the RR models, providing a more striking appearance. The
expanded standard features of the S 1000 R include the engine drag
torque control (MSR) with configurable "Engine Brake," a
short license plate holder and a USB-C charging socket under the seat.

The new Single-R is offered in three attractive colour schemes: the
base variant in Blackstorm metallic, the Sport model variant in
Bluefire/Mugiallo Yellow, and in combination with the M package in
Lightwhite uni/M Motorsport.

Munich. BMW Motorrad is introducing the new S 1000
XR, an enhanced version of the successful long-distance sports bike
and multiple test winner. Increased engine power, improved ergonomics,
design refinements, and expanded standard features define the model's upgrades.

The reworked in-line 4-cylinder engine now delivers even more
impressive performance, with a flow-optimised geometry for the
intake channels and a power output of 125 kW.
The new
S 1000 XR still shares its in-line 4-cylinder engine with the
S
1000 RR, providing a smooth and powerful torque delivery and a
harmonious power characteristic that contributes to excellent
rideability. Compared to the predecessor model, the engine power has
been increased by 4 kW to now 125 kW at an unchanged nominal engine
speed of 11,000 rpm. The main reasons for the performance increase are
a flow-optimised geometry of the intake channels and a customised
mapping. The maximum torque generated is still 114 Nm at 9,250 rpm.

Improved ergonomics thanks to new seat and even sportier rear
section.
In order to provide even more freedom of
movement, especially during high-performance riding on country roads
and race tracks, the seat of the long-distance sports bike has been
completely redesigned. It now offers an extra 10 mm of seat height
(850 mm) and provides more space for the buttocks by increasing the
usable length and width of the seat, allowing for better adjustment of
the seating position depending on the riding conditions. The improved
ergonomics make it easier for riders to manoeuvre the
S 1000 XR
on the road or on the race track, providing even better control. A
total of three different seat heights are available.

The new S 1000 XR also benefits from redesigned elements in its
design. The rear section now features new side panels and air intakes
inspired by motorsports, giving it a more dynamic look. Additionally,
the radiator trim now has a textured surface, and the previously
black-coloured “beak” fender is now painted in body colour.

Extended range of standard equipment and new optional extras
/ Original BMW Motorrad Accessories.
The new S
1000 XR comes with an expanded standard equipment list. As part of the
standard equipment, Headlight Pro provides additional
safety during night-time rides with its adaptive turning light. The
rider benefits from improved road illumination in corners. The
package also includes Daytime Running Lights (DRL) for better vehicle
recognition during the day. Keyless Ride and a
12 Ah capacity battery are now standard features.
Additionally, the new BMW S 1000 XR is equipped with a USB
charging option as standard.

Other updates include the option to equip the S 1000 XR with the
optional M GPS Laptrigger, and the availability of
M Carbon wheels as a new optional extra or as
Original BMW Motorcycle accessories.

Three new attractive colour options.
Three new
colour options reflect the dynamic character of the new BMW S 1000 XR.

• Blackstorm metallic

• Gravityblue metallic

• Lightwhite solid paint/Motorsport
(in conjunction with the M package and M seat).

The key innovations of the new BMW S 1000 XR:

• Engine power has been increased by 4 kW to now
125 kW
at 11,000 rpm (previously 121 kW).

• The intake channels have been modified.

• The optimised Shift Assistant Pro ensures even higher
precision
when shifting.

• Improved ergonomics and freedom of movement with a redesigned
seat (850 mm seat height instead of the previous 840 mm).

• The spring strut has been optimised to provide a more
sensitive and comfortable ride.

• The rear section has a new, sportier design with new side
panels and air intakes inspired by motorsports.

• The handlebar clamp has been redesigned.

• The front “beak” is now painted in the body colour.

• The radiator cover has a new, textured surface.

• New battery with 12 Ah capacity instead of the previous 9 Ah.

• M Carbon wheels available as optional equipment or
Original BMW Motorrad Accessories.

• Keyless Ride is standard.

• USB charging port is standard.

• Headlight Pro is standard.

• Use of the M GPS Laptrigger is possible.

• New colour options: Blackstorm metallic, Gravityblue metallic
and
Lightwhite solid paint/Motorsport.

Press Contact: Hailey Philander
Tel: +27-71-666-2070
E-mail: hailey.philander@bmw.co.za

Press Release,S Series,S 1000 XR,Product,BMW Motorrad

Munich. Since its start of production in 2009, the
BMW S 1000 RR has been synonymous with the highest level of riding
dynamics among superbikes - both on the road and on the race track.
Thanks to constant and above all consistent further development, it
has been able to defend its leading role in this segment to this day -
in its third edition since 2019.

With the M Performance Parts accessories range, BMW Motorrad is
now going one step further by offering a carefully matched range of
special parts for the new BMW S 1000 RR similar to the offer available
for BMW M automobiles. These components have been developed based on
the brand’s extensive racing experience - with the aim of further
enhancing the driving dynamics of the new S 1000 RR not only for road
use, but especially on the race track. Accordingly, the M Performance
Parts accessories range includes not only parts for reducing bike
weight but also a number of specialised functional parts.

Particularly light and robust carbon fibre parts are available
for the body and fairing areas: M Carbon airbox cover, M Carbon chain
guard in conjunction with M Carbon rear wheel cover, M Carbon front
wheel cover, M Carbon sprocket cover, M Carbon fuel tank cover
left/right, M Carbon fairing side panel top left/top right. The new S
1000 RR can also be perfectly ergonomically adapted to the size of the
rider thanks to three different seat variants - M sports seat, M seat
high, M seat low.

The M Performance Parts range also includes different footrest
versions. The standard footrest system of the S 1000 RR can be
upgraded with the M rider's footrests left/right and the M passenger
footrests left/right. An M rider's footrest system left/right,
especially designed for racetrack use, also offers further ergonomic
adjustment options.

Extensive racing experience was also applied to the adjustable
and folding M handbrake lever. For racetrack use, the M remote
adjuster for the front brake also allows the rider to adjust the lever
travel while riding from the left-hand end of the handlebars. On the
left-hand side of the handlebars the folding M clutch lever is the
corresponding counterpart to the handbrake lever. The M handbrake
lever protector and the M clutch lever protector are available for
both levers. In addition, the standard handlebar version of the S 1000
RR can be replaced with the M fork clamp for stub handlebars
left/right for making individual ergonomic adjustments.

Two different M Performance wheel sets optimise acceleration,
deceleration, handling as well as suspension and damping response.
While the M forged wheel made of high-strength forged aluminium
already offers advantages in this respect both at the front and at the
rear, the M Carbon front wheel and M Carbon rear wheel made of
lightweight carbon fibre almost perfectly exploit every possibility
for reducing unsprung and rotational masses. The parts range for the
wheels also features the M axle protectors.

M Performance Parts also include further lightweight components
such as the M chain tensioner and the M lightweight battery. The new
range for the S 1000 RR is rounded off by the mounting stand adapter
set and the M cover kit.
Motorrad dealer.
Matthieu Lussiana (FR) has won the 2015 BMW Motorrad Race Trophy. In
the second season of this special customer racing project a total of
104 BMW racers from 22 different nations and six continents took part.
They raced for 73 different teams in 24 individual championship
classes. The best of them were given their awards at the 2015 BMW
Motorrad Motorsport Season Finale in the Double Cone in the BMW Welt
in Munich (DE) on Saturday. At this event, the international BMW
Motorrad Motorsport family met up to bid farewell to the 2015 season.

One of the highlights of the evening was the tribute to the most
successful participants in the 2015 BMW Motorrad Race Trophy. The top
15 were recognised with trophies and a total prize purse of 100,000
Euros. Winner Lussiana received a winner’s cheque for 20,000 Euros. He
collected his Race Trophy points in the Brazilian Moto 1000 GP series
(MT1GP), where he won his second title in a row on his BMW Motorrad
Petronas Racing BMW S 1000 RR. In the nine races contested in the
MT1GP during the scoring period of the 2015 BMW Motorrad Race Trophy
(17th November 2014 to 22nd November 2015), Lussiana celebrated seven
wins and two second places. Including the bonus points the riders
received for title wins, pole positions etc., he picked up a total of
436.69 Race Trophy points.

“It is always a great satisfaction to win a championship title or a
trophy, especially the BMW Motorrad Race Trophy with so many riders
participating from all around the world,” said Lussiana, who sent a
video message to Munich, as he is competing this weekend in the 2015
season finale of the MT1GP in Curitiba (BR). “It was really exciting
because the rankings were changing with every race weekend throughout
the season. So the suspense was there until the very last race, and I
tried my best to collect the maximum number of points to win that
trophy. Since November last year I have won seven races and finished
second twice, so I think I found the right way to be fast, consistent
and in perfect harmony with my bike. This season, I claimed my second
title in the Brazilian Moto 1000 GP championship with BMW. I raced the
new BMW S 1000 RR model and it was incredible - the frame, the
electronics, the engine. And then my team and I did a great job
setting the bike up for the different requirements of the every single
race track. I am very proud to have represented the BMW brand in Brazil.”

Second place went to Jordan Szoke (CA), the 2015 champion in the
Canadian Superbike Championship (CSBK), with 429.67 points. Third was
Roland Resch (AT), the 2015 champion in the Superbike class of the
Alpe Adria Road Racing Championship (AARR SBK), with 414.73 points
(see full final rankings below).

“We can look back on a great second season for the BMW Motorrad Race
Trophy,” said Heiner Faust, BMW Motorrad Senior Vice President Sales
and Marketing. “The number of over 100 participants is impressive and
shows how this project is appreciated among the BMW racers around the
globe. The fact that our top three finishers race in championships on
three different continents, and that the top 15 riders come from 11
different countries and ten racing series, is undoubtedly the proof
that the BMW Motorrad Race Trophy really is a global success model.
But it is not only that that makes us proud. In 2015, our BMW Motorrad
Motorsport customers have continued their streak of success on the
race tracks all around the world.”

“With their achievements, our BMW privateers helped to consolidate
the outstanding position of BMW Motorrad in national and international
racing, and demonstrated that our BMW S 1000 RR is one of the most
competitive Superbikes on the circuits all around the globe,” Faust
continued. “We want to thank our privateer riders and teams for all
their efforts, and want to take the opportunity tonight to celebrate
their successes together with them. It is great to see the large
international BMW Motorrad Motorsport family coming together here in
Munich. Over the last years we have continuously strengthened the
relationships with our teams and riders on all continents. The result
is a unique community, which will continue to grow further in the
future. Our customers are our racing family. For that reason, it is
very important for us to support them as best we can with our
specialists at BMW Motorrad Motorsport, to offer them highly
competitive material and innovative solutions. In the 2015 season the
network of BMW Motorrad Motorsport experts worked with more than 160
customer teams world-wide. We will continue in the direction we
successfully took with our long-term strategy and our commitment to
motorsport. Racing has always played an important role in the history
of BMW Motorrad and it will do so in the future.”

To appreciate the achievements of the BMW privateers, a special bonus
has been awarded within the BMW Motorrad Race Trophy to championship
winning riders and teams for the first time this year. Every rider who
won the title in his individual racing series received prize money of
2,500 Euros, while his team was rewarded with 7,500 Euros. Six BMW
racers and teams were handed this title bonus at the BMW Motorrad
Motorsport Season Finale in Munich. Eeki Kuparinen (FI) and his
Motomarket Racing team won the privateer class of the FIM CEV
Superbike European Championship (CEV AM). In the Alpe Adria Road
Racing Championship two titles went to BMW racers and teams: Roland
Resch (AT) and his reitwagen-racing-team won the title in the
Superbike class (AARR SBK), while Michal Prášek (CZ) and the Rohac and
Fejta motoracing team were crowned champions in the Superstock class
(AARR STK). Markus Reiterberger (DE) and Van Zon-Remeha-BMW celebrated
their second title-win in the Superbike class of the International
German Championship SUPERBIKE*IDM (IDM SBK) this year. Jordan Szoke
(CA) is the champion in the Canadian Superbike Championship (CSBK)
together with his Mopar Express Lane BMW Superbike Team and Matthieu
Lussiana (FR) and BMW Motorrad Petronas Racing successfully defended
their title in the Moto 1000 GP series in Brazil.

Details of the 2016 BMW Motorrad Race Trophy will be published at a
later stage.
