  Neue Klasse model, the new BMW i3. Since its unveiling in March, the
  trailblazing all-electric saloon has already generated strong customer
  demand and, from today, customers have an early opportunity to place
  an order with the new BMW i3 50 xDrive First Edition (WLTP, combined
  [EnVKV]: energy consumption 16.1–13.5 kWh/100 km; CO₂ emissions: 0
  g/mile; CO₂ class A) and offers a range of 758 – 906 km).<br />
  <br />
  <strong>Jochen Goller, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG,
    Customer, Brands, Sales, said: </strong>“The new BMW i3 is a
  groundbreaking car for us. As a fully electric model, it will be
  competing in a high-volume segment and is therefore extremely
  significant for the BMW Group. At the same time, we can already tell
  from the high level of interest in this model that it will be very
  well received by our customers. The start of orders on 18 June in
  First Edition form – ahead of the official market launch – is an
  important next step here.”<br />
  <br />Building on the BMW i3 50 xDrive’s comprehensive standard
  specification, the First Edition adds further standard-fit equipment.
  Based on the M Sport model, it includes M Sport exterior and interior
  design elements alongside features such as BMW Iconic Glow, the BMW 3D
  Head-Up Display and AC Charging Professional – increasing the AC
  charging rate from 11 kW to 22 kW. The BMW i3 50 xDrive First Edition
  is available to order from BMW retailers now, priced from €72,855 OTR. <br />
  <br />At its official market launch in autumn 2026, the BMW i3 50
  xDrive (WLTP, combined [EnVKV]: energy consumption 16.1 – 13.4 kWh/100
  km; CO₂ emissions: 0 g/mile; CO₂ class A) will be priced from €66,685
  OTR, offering a single-charge range of up to 912 km1 (WLTP).<br />
  <br />
  <strong>Mike Reichelt, Head of Neue Klasse BMW, </strong>explains:
  “The BMW 3 Series has been an icon of our brand for seven generations
  and therefore more than five decades. It encapsulates pure driving
  pleasure, innovation and timeless design. With the Neue Klasse and its
  technology clusters, we are literally skipping a vehicle generation.
  This is the DNA of our sporting saloon in a completely new vehicle
  concept as we write the next chapter in the BMW 3 Series success story.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>The BMW i3 exemplifies the new BMW design language: focused on
    the essentials in a modern, unmistakable style.</strong>
</p>
<p>With its 2.5-box design, the new BMW i3 offers a modern take on
  hallmark BMW saloon proportions and is immediately recognisable as a
  BMW 3 Series. Its silhouette is characterised by a long wheelbase,
  glasshouse set well back and short overhangs. The BMW-typical
  four-eyed face receives a modern interpretation, while the Neue Klasse
  design language guides a fresh front end. The BMW kidney grille and
  twin headlights merge as an innovative light signature into a single
  stylistic piece. The horizontal rear lights feature an L-shaped design
  in a new, abstract form which extends far into the shoulder area.
  Prominently flared wheel arches amplify the model’s broad, sporty stance.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>Taking BMW’s hallmark driver focus to a new level.</strong>
</p>
<p>Inside, the new BMW Panoramic iDrive with BMW Operating System X
  offers a unique display and operating system optimised around the
  driver. At its heart is the BMW Panoramic Vision, which projects
  content across the entire width of the lower area of the windscreen.
  The multimodal operating logic of BMW Panoramic iDrive combines touch,
  haptic and voice-based interactions. The BMW Intelligent Personal
  Assistant plays a key role, enabling numerous vehicle functions, as
  well as navigation and media content, to be controlled using natural
  language. The introduction of large language model technology (LLM,
  Alexa+) results in a dialogue-based verbal interaction, enabling
  intuitive and intelligent exchanges.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>BMW i3 takes a technological leap forward with
    sixth-generation electric drive system.</strong>
</p>
<p>The BMW i3 50 xDrive is powered by two electric motors, one on each
  axel, resulting in a combined system output of 469 hp, a peak torque
  of 645 Nm and 0 to 100 kph acceleration in 4.7 seconds. The First
  Edition features identical motors and performance figures.<br />
  <br />In the new BMW i3, highly efficient sixth-generation BMW eDrive
  technology teams with the Heart of Joy control computer and BMW
  Dynamic Performance Control software stack to provide precise,
  effortless and assured driving characteristics. The Heart of Joy
  responds ten times faster than previous systems and reduces the number
  of control interventions necessary. Meanwhile, the Soft Stop function
  ensures the smoothest stopping action in the history of BMW, bringing
  the vehicle to a complete stop without any jerking or braking noises
  through precise control of the electric motors. The result is a whole
  new level of Sheer Driving Pleasure.<br />
  <br />The assisted driving experience also enters a new dimension in
  the BMW i3 with BMW Symbiotic Drive, enabling a seamless interaction
  between assistance functions and the driver. With driver assistance
  activated, drivers can respond to situations in their own style by
  accelerating, steering or braking without deactivating the active
  assistance system. The optional Motorway Assistant enables hands-free
  assisted driving on the motorway at speeds of up to 130 kph (or the
  national speed limit) with automated lane changes after confirmation
  by eye signal2. Clear operating logic and displays ensure
  that assisted driving in the BMW i3 is always intuitive and
  controllable, enabling safe use of the highest SAE Level 2 automation.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>Long range, shorter charging times and bidirectional charging.</strong>
</p>
<p>The BMW i3 50 xDrive is powered by a high-voltage battery with new
  cylindrical cells and a net capacity of 108.7 kWh. The
  pack-to-open-body design of the battery housing turns it into a
  structural component of the new BMW i3. 800V technology significantly
  reduces charging times, enabling up to 423 km of range to be added in
  just 10 minutes when connected to a 400 kW DC rapid charger.
  Bidirectional charging is also supported. In First Edition
  specification, the BMW i3 50 xDrive offers a range of up to 906
  km1 (WLTP). <br />
  <br />
  <strong>The First Edition brings additional standard features inside
    the cabin.</strong>
</p>
<p>The interior of the BMW i3 50 xDrive First Edition includes
  additional interior features, such as electrically adjustable front
  multifunction seats, three-zone automatic climate control, sun
  protection glazing and steering wheel heating. <br />
  <br />The BMW 3D Head-Up Display is also standard fit. It is integrated
  above the BMW Panoramic Vision and projects selected content
  exclusively into the driver’s line of sight to enable precise spatial
  perception – especially useful when following navigation instructions.
  Further standard features include the Harman Kardon surround sound
  system, automatic tailgate operation and AC charging Professional –
  increasing the AC charging rate from 11 to 22 kW.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>Optional equipment available for the BMW i3 50 xDrive First Edition.</strong>
</p>
<p>Customers can add further personal touches to the BMW i3 50 xDrive
  First Edition via the options list, where rear seat heating, a
  panoramic glass sunroof with climate comfort glazing, and an
  electrically operated tow bar can be added. BMW Digital Premium can
  also be specified, bringing additional BMW Maps functionality, the
  Security Assistant and data for a wide range of entertainment.
  Additional driving and parking functions offered include Parking
  Assistant Plus, Parking Assistant Professional and the Motorway Assistant.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>A wide range of exterior colours, alloy wheels, interior
    designs and steering wheels.</strong>
  <br />Six exterior paint finishes are available for the BMW i3 50
  xDrive First Edition, including M Le Castellet Blue. The alloy wheel
  portfolio comprises three aerodynamic options and a light-alloy
  variant with sizes of 19- and 20-inches available. Inside, customers
  can choose from Contemporary and BMW M themed interior designs in a
  variety of colours. A range of steering wheels offer further scope for
  customisation, including a white BMW Individual steering wheel (only
  in conjunction with the Contemporary interior design, Bicolour Digital White).<br />

<p>
  <br />The BMW 3 Series is the very essence of the BMW brand and, for
  five decades, has stood for consistent progress, distinctive design
  and sheer driving pleasure. Arriving as the second model of the Neue
  Klasse, the new all-electric BMW i3 builds upon this legacy while
  taking a technological quantum leap into a new era.<br />
  <br />Raising the benchmark for all-electric range, the new BMW i3 is
  capable of covering of up to 900 km1 (in accordance with
  the WLTP test cycle) on a single charge thanks to the innovations of
  the Neue Klasse. Simultaneously, these technologies are harnessed to
  further elevate the class-leading driving dynamics that the BMW 3
  Series is renowned for. Handling is precise, assured and effortless
  thanks to the Heart of Joy superbrain – responsible for all driving
  functions. It combines with three additional high-performance
  computers – covering automated driving, infotainment and
  comfort-enhancing functions – culminating in a new digital nervous
  system, developed completely in-house by BMW. These superbrains offer
  up to 20 times more processing power than those utilised by previous
  BMW models. <br />
  <br />The BMW i3 launches with the 50 xDrive model variant, which is
  powered by two electric motors which drive the front and rear axle to
  develop a combined system output of 469 hp1 and 645
  Nm1 of torque. Alongside its impressive range, the BMW i3
  can be charged at speeds of up to 400 kW at an 800-volt DC charging
  station to drastically reduce charging times. The result is up to 400
  km1 in just 10 minutes. This capability is enabled by
  sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology, which teams highly efficient
  electric motors, 800-volt technology and new high-voltage batteries
  with energy-dense cylindrical cells.<br />
  <br />Instantly recognisable as a 3 Series, the BMW i3 offers a modern
  interpretation of hallmark BMW Saloon design with its new 2.5-box
  silhouette. Reduced to the essentials, its design is characterised by
  a long wheelbase with short overhangs, precise lines and a sloping
  roofline. Below which sits expansive glass surfaces to flood the cabin
  with natural light. The front-end is sculpted in a sporty shark-nose
  design and centred around a reimagined horizontal kidney grille, where
  twin headlights merge with an innovative light signature for a
  powerful appearance. The side profile features pronounced wheel
  arches, retractable flush door handles that extend automatically, and
  bold lines that flow to the rear. Here, sweeping horizontal taillights
  in an L-shaped design flank the refreshed BMW roundel and extend far
  into the shoulder area to emphasise the vehicle’s wide stance. Eleven
  exterior paint finishes are available from launch, including new M Le
  Castellet Blue – exclusive to the BMW i3.<br />
  <br />Inside, there is an immediate sense of space, thanks to the BMW
  i3’s purpose-built all-electric architecture. Sporty and contemporary,
  the cockpit is optimised around the driver. Positioned front and
  centre is the BMW Panoramic iDrive, which consists of four key
  components: the BMW Panoramic Vision display, the optional BMW 3D
  Head-Up Display, the driver-oriented Central Display and the new
  multi-function steering wheel – helping drivers to keep their hands on
  the wheel and eyes on the road. Stylish and sustainable materials are
  used for the upholstery, including Econeer seat covers, which consist
  of a recyclable textile composite made from 100 per cent recycled
  polyester. Customers will be able to customise the interior and
  exterior of their BMW i3 with different trim levels, including M
  Sport, following its success within the Irish market. <br />
  <br />The new BMW i3 is equipped with a comprehensive portfolio of
  driver and parking assistance systems, which operate in synergy with
  the driver to provide increased safety and convenience for everyday
  driving. This includes Soft-Stop, offering the smoothest stopping
  process in BMW history.<br />
  <br />With the new BMW i3, a holistic approach was implemented towards
  sustainability, with a focus on decarbonisation along the entire life
  cycle – from product development, supply chain to production and use
  phase. The result, depending on the drive variant, annual mileage and
  generation of the electricity used for charging, is an overall carbon
  footprint similar to a comparable model with an internal combustion
  engine2 after just 1–2 years of use.<br />
  <br />The new BMW i3 will be built at the home of BMW Group, Plant
  Munich, which has been producing premium vehicles for over a century.
  Over the last four years, the production plant has seen significant
  modernisation with the construction of a new body shop, cutting-edge
  assembly facility and logistics space. Now in its final stages of
  expansion, Plant Munich will commence BMW i3 production in August
  2026, with first Irish customer deliveries expected in autumn. A year
  later, Munich’s production portfolio will switch exclusively to fully
  electric vehicles of the Neue Klasse.<br />
  <br />Further information, including Irish pricing and detailed model
  specifications will follow in due course.<br />

  <strong>Exterior design. The core of the brand reinterpreted: modern
    timeless and unmistakable.</strong>
  <br />Following the BMW iX3, the new BMW i3 is the second model of the
  Neue Klasse to celebrate its premiere. In line with BMW's new design
  language, it embodies a contemporary take on the distinctive design
  elements synonymous with the BMW brand. The BMW i3 combines
  future-oriented dynamics with the hallmark proportions of a sporty BMW
  saloon. The DNA of the BMW 3 Series, which has been successful for
  decades, is immediately apparent in its modern 2.5-box design.<br />
  <br />Precise lines and striking surfaces characterise the clear,
  reduced external appearance of the BMW i3. The modern interior has a
  sporty and inviting design. Advanced digitalisation shapes the user
  experiencejust as fundamentally as the hallmark BMW driver
  orientation. Maximum reduction ensures concentration on the essentials.<br />
  <br />The silhouette of the new BMW i3 maintains the classic, sporty
  proportions typical of BMW in a contemporary 2.5-box design introduced
  with the Neue Klasse. Its appearance is characterised by a long
  wheelbase, striking surfaces and short overhangs. The shape is
  aerodynamically optimised with a modern dynamic appearance. Meanwhile,
  short overhangs and powerfully shaped wheel arches emphasise its
  sporty stance. A distinctive design feature is the greenhouse, set
  back from the main structure. In combination with the flared wheel
  arches, this creates a particularly athletic shoulder area. The
  low-positioned, precise character line brings the BMW i3's visual
  centre of gravity closer to the road.<br />
  <br />Concealed seals ensure a direct, harmonious transition between
  the glass surfaces and the bodywork. When the BMW Digital Key Plus is
  near, the flush-mounted door handles automatically extend. <br />
  <br />To increase efficiency and range, the four-door saloon has a
  completely closed, smooth underbody.<br />
  <br />The new 21-inch M 1067 M Aerodynamic wheels emphasise the BMW
  i3's sporty appearance.<br />
  <br />The front end of the new BMW i3 presents the face of the Neue
  Klasse in a distinctive, modern form. The iconic BMW radiator grille
  and twin headlights seamlessly integrate with the front sensors,
  creating a unified visual element that exemplifies the harmony of
  geometry and light. With meticulous precision, they effectively
  highlight the broad design of the vehicle.<br />
  <br />The light signature, arranged horizontally, spans nearly the
  whole front. Two daytime driving lights on the left and right with
  integrated turn indicator function create a new, modern look for the
  hallmark BMW four-eye face. As an option, the Iconic Glow special
  equipment enhances the visual depth effect of the BMW radiator grille.
  Precise contour lighting emphasises the attractive look. Upon request,
  dynamic lighting effects can add unique highlights to the front section.<br />
  <br />Occupying its spot in the "valley" of the sculptured
  bonnet, the redesigned BMW brand emblem sits above the BMW radiator
  grille. The front is dynamically inclined towards the road in a
  shark-nose design, thus emphasising the sporty character of the vehicle.<br />
  <br />The new BMW i3 comes to life with its light animation as soon as
  the driver approaches the vehicle. The Welcome Light Animation begins
  on the exterior of the vehicle and continues in the interior. The
  Welcome and Goodbye Animations vary depending on the equipment level.
  The optional BMW Iconic Glow exterior package offers three impressive
  lighting animations. Balanced, Relaxed and Excited are available.
  Customers can individualise the Welcome Light Animation of their BMW
  i3 to their personal taste.<br />
  <br />Similar to the front of the vehicle, the rear of the new BMW i3
  features a contemporary and dynamic design language. The athletic
  shoulders with strongly inset greenhouse are a characteristic feature
  of the rear end. The prominently flared wheel arches signify
  sportiness. They powerfully emphasise the width of the saloon as well
  as its stance on the road. Located at the lower rear, a diffuser
  element emphasises the dynamic qualities of the BMW i3.<br />
  <br />Horizontally aligned rear lights feature a new three-dimensional
  light signature. They extend far into the prominent shoulders and
  reflect precision and technological progress. Two light elements per
  side show the familiar L-shape of previous BMW rear lights in a new,
  abstract form. At the same time, they underline the width of the
  saloon and the distinctive character of the BMW 3 Series. The BMW
  emblem is again located in the "valley" between the rear lights.<br />
  <br />A total of eleven different exterior colours will be available
  at the market launch of the new BMW i3. The new metallic colour M Le
  Castellet Blue is exclusive to the range. Solid paint, frozen and
  metallic finishes are also available.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>The interior: An inviting experience space – driver-oriented,

  <br />Thanks to its exceptional interior comfort, the BMW i3 makes the
  most of the vehicle architecture, consistently focused on
  electromobility. The Free-Cut Design Central Display is angled towards
  the driver’s seat and positioned on the instrument panel. This
  embraces the sporty design of the BMW 3 Series. The lines of the
  instrument panel flow horizontally on both sides into the dynamically
  designed door panels. This creates an enveloping wrap-around effect
  for the passengers, which continues throughout the interior. The
  optional panoramic roof with climate comfort glass, in combination
  with the large window areas, creates a feeling of space flooded with light.<br />
  <br />The BMW Panoramic iDrive provides a completely new experience of
  hallmark BMW driver orientation. Four central elements merge into a
  unique display and operating system in the new BMW i3. The BMW

  Display and the multifunction steering wheel with Shy Tech controls.
  This creates a digital and modern user experience that is
  quintessentially BMW.<br />
  <br />The BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant offers numerous
  advantages for comfort, personalisation and voice control in the new
  BMW i3. The introduction of large language model technology(LLM,
  Alexa+)3 makes voice interaction for the driver even more
  natural than before. The BMW ID guarantees the best possible
  individualisation for up to seven users after registering in the BMW
  i3. The BMW Digital Key Plus becomes the preferred vehicle key on a
  smartphone or smartwatch.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>BMW Panoramic iDrive: Visionary display and operating system
    and the latest generation of the BMW display and operating concept.</strong>
  <br />Focussed on the interactions between human and vehicle, BMW
  Panoramic iDrive redefines vehicle operation, information display and
  driver orientation. With its intelligent combination of displays,
  operating elements and software, it creates an integrated system that
  delivers optimal ergonomics, is intuitive and comfortable to use and
  provides the driver with the relevant information at all times.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>BMW Panoramic Vision: Focus on driver orientation.</strong>
  <br />At the heart of the display and operating system is the BMW
  Panoramic Vision. This is a new display concept in which information
  is projected onto a specially coated area in the lower part of the
  windscreen that stretches from A-pillar to A-pillar. The content shown
  in this area is always visible and forms the visual basis of the
  entire display and operating concept. Key driving information is
  displayed on the right-hand side, clearly structured and in the
  driver’s line of sight, without restricting their view of the road
  ahead. The contents shown in the central and left-hand areas of the
  display can be personalised and are visible to all occupants.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>BMW 3D Head-Up Display: Animations enable spatial perception.</strong>
  <br />The optional BMW 3D Head-Up Display integrated above the BMW
  Panoramic Vision projects selected content directly into the driver’s
  line of sight. This display enables particularly precise spatial
  perception – for example in the case of navigation instructions, or
  information from the driver assistance system. The contents of the BMW
  3D Head-Up Display and the BMW Panoramic Vision are perfectly
  coordinated and complement each other, for a consistent, clearly
  structured display experience.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>Free-Cut Design Central Display.</strong>
  <br />The 17.9-inch Central Display in Free-Cut Design is integrated
  into the BMW Panoramic iDrive as a further essential control element.
  It features advanced matrix backlight technology with a resolution of
  3,340 x 1,440 pixels, for a brilliant display that is easy to read in
  all lighting conditions. Its specific shape allows for ergonomically
  optimal positioning, and thanks to the advanced menu structure with
  QuickSelect, it offers comfortable, simple and intuitive operation via
  touch. There is a menu on the Central Display containing widgets that
  can be moved to the BMW Panoramic Vision by drag and drop. Up to six
  widgets can be freely arranged in this way to enable quick access to
  frequently used functions. Using the multifunction steering wheel,
  further contents and submenus of the widgets can be displayed in the
  BMW Panoramic Vision.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>New multifunction steering wheel with Shy Tech operating elements.</strong>
  <br />The multifunction steering wheel utilises Shy Tech technology,
  meaning buttons are only illuminated when the corresponding functions
  are available. The controls for driving assistance and parking
  functions are located on the left side, while controls for
  infotainment functions such as telephone or media player are on the
  right. These functions can be operated via a special control panel
  that provides haptic feedback. This enables drivers to control key
  functions safely and accurately without needing to take their eyes off
  the road.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>Customisability as a key feature of the system.</strong>
  <br />Contents, widgets and displays are individually configurable,
  allowing them to be adapted to personal preferences. Users can select
  colours, display schemes and background images to create a
  personalised digital experience. There is a wealth of options enabling
  users to customise the user interface design in Personal Mode in line
  with their own preferences, enabling advanced individualisation of
  displays, interactions and vehicle-related settings. Further My Modes
  such as Sport, Efficient and Silent add to the range of personal
  setups available to customers.<br />
  <br />The BMW ID opens the door to a customisable driving experience
  with BMW Panoramic iDrive. Up to seven users can sign in to the
  vehicle with their BMW ID, allowing them to enjoy every drive with
  their individual settings. The personalisation process begins with
  initial registration in the vehicle, which is completed by scanning a
  QR code in the Central Display using a smartphone. The personal BMW ID
  is then added to the vehicle and the user is guided through the main
  steps of initial setup, which can also be started prior to vehicle
  collection via the My BMW App if desired. In doing so, the vehicle is
  automatically stored in the My BMW App along with the corresponding
  profile. All personal vehicle settings, such as the configuration of
  the BMW Panoramic Vision, media favourites, recent destinations, seat
  settings with entry and exit configuration are now automatically
  available for every journey, providing the profile has been linked to
  a BMW Digital Key Plus or physical key. Before setting off, a message
  greeting the driver by name will automatically appear in the Central
  Display – along with their personal profile picture, if desired. <br />
  <br />
  <strong>The BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant.</strong>
  <br />The multimodal operating logic of BMW Panoramic iDrive combines
  touch, haptic and voice-based interactions. A key role is played by
  the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, the operating concept in the
  new BMW i3. It enables the control of numerous vehicle functions,
  navigation destinations and media contents using natural language,
  without the need for defined voice commands. The self-learning voice
  assistant can be activated with the prompt “Hey BMW” or by pressing a
  button on the steering wheel’s right-hand control panel. Following
  initial setup, the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant is positioned in
  the centre of the BMW Panoramic Vision by default and is always ready
  to respond to commands. If desired, the BMW Intelligent Personal
  Assistant can make proactive suggestions based on routines and more.
  This intelligence is further enhanced by the BMW Operating System X,
  which considers significantly more contexts, such as driving
  situations, environmental analysis and interior recognition.<br />
  <br />The addition of Amazon’s Alexa+ AI technology3 to the
  BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant further enhances capability. The
  integration of Amazon Alexa+ into the BMW Intelligent Personal
  Assistant marks a technological quantum leap focussed on added
  customer value.<br />
  <br />The AI technology used is a Large Language Model (LLM), a
  generative AI that understands language and is capable of formulating
  its own responses. This makes for more dialogue-oriented voice
  interactions; it enables intuitive and intelligent exchanges and
  supports access to external knowledge bases, cloud-based services and
  media contents as well as the control of vehicle functions. Linking
  the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant to an Amazon account allows the
  user to search for and stream music, access the latest news and use a
  wide range of other content with ease. Availability will be gradually
  expanded, starting with the markets Germany and the USA.<br />
  <br />BMW Panoramic iDrive is based on a scalable concept, and the
  underlying system architecture enables flexible integration of future
  digital services, additional display formats and new functions.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>The BMW Digital Key Plus becomes the preferred vehicle key. </strong>
  <br />BMW Digital Key Plus enables smartphones and smartwatches from
  all leading manufacturers (incl. Apple, Samsung, Google) to be easily
  set up to function as a vehicle key. Ultra-wideband (UWB) and
  Bluetooth technology are used to enable the smartphone and vehicle to
  communicate with one another at close range. The UWB technology allows
  the user’s location to be pinpointed extremely precisely while also
  ensuring the highest possible vehicle access security (certified
  according to the Car Connectivity Consortium’s standard).<br />
  <br />The BMW Digital Key Plus has further benefits to offer in
  addition to highly convenient vehicle access. Customers can share the
  digital key with others easily and securely using a messaging app,
  while defining individual roles and rights at the same time. It also
  enables the use of additional functions via the smartphone wallet,
  such as remote operation of the tailgate.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>BMW Operating System X with high update and upgrade capability.</strong>
  <br />BMW Operating System X is based on the Android Open Source
  Project (AOSP) and offers a high level of update and upgrade
  capability. As a result, the system remains up to date in the long
  term and can be continuously expanded with new functions and digital services.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>Four specialised superbrain high-performance computers. </strong>
  <br />At the heart of the new vehicle architecture are four superbrain
  high-performance computers. Each is assigned a core function in the
  new BMW i3: The Heart of Joy primarily manages driving dynamics, while
  separate computers are dedicated to automated driving and parking,
  infotainment, and essential and comfort functions like vehicle access
  and climate control. They offer up to 20 times higher computing power
  compared to previous BMW models.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>Electronics in four zones: More efficiency, less weight.</strong>
  <br />The four-zone cabling reduces the complexity of the cable
  harnesses. In addition, the new BMW i3 uses Smart eFuses instead of
  classic fuses. This intelligent and flexible power protection combined
  with the zonal architecture enables shorter and thinner cables, saves
  weight, reduces energy consumption thanks to intelligent power
  distribution, and increases overall vehicle efficiency.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>Over-the-air updates allow for continuous improvements.</strong>
  <br />The new BMW i3 will continue to receive new functions, optimised
  performance, or AI-supported features via software updates long after
  purchase. All future BMW models will feature the electronics and
  software architecture developed for the Neue Klasse.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>Heart of Joy and BMW Symbiotic Drive.</strong>
  <br />For decades, the BMW 3 Series has been synonymous with sheer
  driving pleasure worldwide. In this iconic BMW model, sportiness,
  precise handling, and long-distance comfort are seamlessly merged to
  form an exceptional blend. The new BMW i3 brings these qualities into
  the age of the Neue Klasse and utilises previously unattainable
  potentials of electromobility. The Heart of Joy defines the brand- new
  driving experience – delivering greater accuracy, improved assurance
  and heightened agility. In combination with the advanced suspension
  technology of the BMW i3, this creates a completely new dimension of
  driving pleasure. Multiple driving and parking assistance systems,
  which operate in synergy and securely with the driver while
  maintaining the unique BMW character, provide increased safety and
  convenience for everyday driving.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>Heart of Joy: Ten times faster than previous systems.</strong></p>
<p>Control systems in vehicles have a long tradition at BMW. It began
  back in 1979 with the first use of an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS)
  in the BMW 7 Series. The Heart of Joy controls driving, braking, some
  steering functions, charging and recuperation. It responds ten times
  faster than previous systems, resulting in effortless and assured
  handling. This enables the BMW i3 to navigate corners with precision
  and agility for maximum accuracy. The Heart of Joy reduces the number
  of necessary control interventions. The resulting cornering behaviour
  is more consistent and predictable, which contributes to an even
  greater feeling of safety.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>Soft-Stop: The smoothest stopping process in BMW
  history.<br /></strong>The electric motors' precise control ensures
  the new BMW i3 decelerates smoothly without any jerks or braking
  noise. Soft-Stop ensures an unparalleled stopping process.<br />
  <br />In everyday driving, the recuperation brake takes over almost
  all braking operations in the BMW i3. The friction brakes are only
  utilised during sporty driving or when emergency braking is required.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>Suspension: Sporty and comfortable. Optional adaptive M
    suspension. </strong></p>
<p>The new BMW i3 is distinguished by its hallmark high driving dynamics
  paired with long-distance comfort. It takes advantage of the
  architecture, which is uniformly designed for electric mobility. The
  new, flat high-voltage battery enables a low centre of gravity. As
  standard, the BMW i3 has a suspension with stroke-dependent shock
  absorbers. In addition to the two-joint spring strut front axle, it
  features a new five-link rear axle. Front and rear anti-roll bars with
  highly preloaded bearings are used for even more dynamic handling. An
  adaptive M suspension is available as an option in the all-wheel drive
  BMW i3. It boosts the dynamic sporty nature of the BMW i3 while
  maintaining ride comfort.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>BMW Symbiotic Drive ensures seamless interaction between the
    driver and driver assistance systems.<br /></strong>The advanced
  Level 2 driver assistance systems in the BMW i3 are designed down to
  the smallest detail for seamless interaction between assistance and
  driving inputs. The aim is not attaining the highest possible level of
  automation in every situation, but a safe driver assistance experience
  that offers maximum benefit and is always controllable. As a result,
  the driver always remains involved in an interplay of human and
  artificial intelligence. This allows acceleration, steering or braking
  even when driver assistance is engaged, without instantly causing a
  deactivation of the assistance system. The clear operating logic and
  displays in the BMW Panoramic iDrive ensure that assisted driving
  behaviour is intuitive and can be influenced at any time. The
  symbiotic interplay of driver and vehicle can also be experienced with
  active safety functions such as Lane Departure Warning. The driver's
  intent is recorded based on steering behaviour and the direction of
  vision, so that the system assists with warning and steering
  intervention only when the driver unintentionally drifts off his own
  lane or an impending collision is detected.<br />
  <br />Driving Assistant Plus takes the strain out of steering and
  braking.If desired, it controls the speed and distance from the
  vehicle in front and helps the driver to keep the vehicle comfortably
  in the lane. The system can automatically detect recognised speed
  limits and adjust the speed before bends, roundabouts and turns. All
  optional driver and parking assistance functions can also be activated
  digitally in the BMW ConnectedDrive Store at a later stage.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>Sixth-generation electric drive with round cell high-voltage battery.</strong>
  <br />Sixth generation BMW eDrive technology (Gen6) features an
  all-new high-voltage battery concept and 800-volt technology. As one
  of the standout innovations of the Neue Klasse, it brings significant
  range improvements, faster charging, up to 400 kW DC charging capacity
  and bidirectional charging functionality.<br />
  <br />In addition to advanced, highly efficient electric motors, it
  includes fundamentally new high-voltage batteries with cylindrical
  cells. Compared to Gen5, both range and charging speed are increased
  by 30 per cent. The new BMW i3 has a range of up to 900
  kilometres1 (according to the WLTP test cycle).<br />
  <br />
  <strong>Newly developed lithium-ion cylindrical cells for higher
    energy density.<br /></strong>The cylindrical cells within the
  high-voltage storage system have a diameter of 46 millimetres and a
  height of 95 millimetres. Their optimal design brings a 20 per cent
  increase in volumetric energy density compared to prismatic cells used
  as part of Gen5 technology.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>Cell-to-pack design enables high energy density at pack level.</strong></p>
<p>The cells are integrated directly into the high-voltage battery
  without modular construction or structural elements. This cell-to-pack
  design enables high energy densities at pack level, reducing weight
  and costs. The combination of cell design and cell-to-pack
  construction is an in-house development and the result of the BMW
  Group's expertise in battery technology built up since 2008.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>Pack-to-open-body construction allows for a flat battery design.</strong></p>
<p>Thanks to the pack-to-open body concept, the battery housing in the
  new BMW i3 also functions as a structural component. The chassis has
  an open floor, which is closed by installing the high-voltage battery.
  The housing cover thus assumes the function of the vehicle underbody.
  This saves weight and enables a flat and aerodynamically efficient
  battery design. Another advantage: the torsional rigidity of the body
  also benefits from the pack-to-open-body construction, which has a
  positive effect on the driving dynamics of the new BMW i3.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>Energy Master: The highly intelligent control
  centre.<br /></strong>The electrical and electronic components for the
  high-voltage battery can be found in the Energy Master. It is
  positioned on top of the high-voltage battery and developed in-house
  by the BMW Group. It provides electricity to the motors and the
  vehicle electrical system and manages all data from the high-voltage
  battery. It ensures intelligent, efficient and safe battery operation.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>Two highly efficient electric motors with EESM and ASM
  technology.<br /></strong>The BMW i3 50 xDrive has an electric motor
  on both the front and rear axles. Together, they provide a system
  output of 469 hp1 and a torque of 645 Nm1.<br />
  <br />An electrically excited synchronous motor (EESM) is integrated
  into the rear axle – the primary drive axle. It is based on a stator,
  which generates a rotating magnetic field by means of three-phase
  alternating current, and a rotor, which has electrically-excited
  electromagnets. This design makes the EESM fundamentally different
  from motors with permanent magnets, as the magnetic field in the rotor
  can be flexibly regulated. In turn, it is possible to reduce the
  magnetic field at low load and thus avoid losses. In addition, strong
  magnetic fields can be generated under high load. This results in high
  torque and constant power output up to maximum motor speed.<br />
  <br />The entire system is controlled by an inverter, which converts
  the direct current of the battery into the required alternating
  current. It also ensures that the rotor is excited and is responsible
  for all control and monitoring processes. As a result, the EESM is
  always operated at optimum efficiency.<br />
  <br />The EESM in the BMW i3 50 xDrive is supplemented by an
  asynchronous motor (ASM) on the front axle. The ASM works on the
  induction principle and is a compact and lightweight addition to the
  EESM. The ASM differs fundamentally in its rotor design: instead of
  magnets or electrical excitation, the rotor consists of aluminium rods
  that are connected via short-circuit rings. The necessary torque is
  generated by induced currents that occur when there is a difference in
  speed – known as slip – between the stator field and the rotor. The
  ASM is robust, resistant to heat and made from iron and aluminium. The
  combination of both types of motors enables a technological quantum
  leap: together, they reduce energy losses by 40 per cent, reduce the
  weight of the drive system by 10 per cent and reduce manufacturing
  costs by 20 percent compared to Gen5.<br />
  <br />The EESM of the new BMW i3 is manufactured at the BMW Group
  plant in Steyr in Upper Austria, and the high-voltage battery at the
  BMW Group plant in Debrecen, Hungary. The BMW Group's Landshut plant
  is contributing the Energy Master.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>BMW Charging.<br /></strong>For the Neue Klasse, the sixth
  generation of BMW eDrive technology used in the BMW i3 has undergone
  significant redevelopment in both its hardware and software. It
  represents a technological leap in energy density, charging power and
  range. This results in significantly shorter charging times. In just
  ten minutes, the BMW i3 50 xDrive charges up to 400
  kilometres1 of range at an 800-volt fast charging station
  via 400 kW directional current. A control unit with an integrated
  switching matrix also allows the continued use of 400-volt DC
  stations. Optionally, drivers can charge their BMW i3 using
  alternating current (AC) at speeds at up to 22 kW.<br />
  <br />As a further innovation, the new BMW i3 – like all future Gen6
  electric vehicles – will have bidirectional charging functionality.
  The energy stored in the battery can thus be used not only for the
  drive and the electrical consumers in the vehicle, but also as a
  mobile power bank that provides electricity directly from the
  high-voltage battery for many use cases.</p>
<p>
  <br />
  <strong>Innovative charging products – for at home or on the go.
  <br /></strong>Innovative equipment optimises charging both at home
  and on the go. BMW products make charging flexible. New products for
  bidirectional charging complete the range. The charging cable (Mode 3)
  or the Multifunction Charger fits into the 31-litre storage
  compartment under the bonnet.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>The BMW Multifunction Charger (MFC): </strong>The new
  all-purpose solution for charging at home and on the go also supports
  the functions of bidirectional charging. A new design with an
  ergonomically optimised charging plug, a cable length of six metres
  and suitable adapters for various purposes make the MFC more flexible
  than ever. For charging and discharging Gen6 electric vehicles,
  adapters are available in Europe for household and high-voltage
  current, public charging (Mode 3) with up to 11 kW and for the
  Vehicle-to-Load function (V2L).<br />
  <br />
  <strong>Simple, convenient, digital: Charging becomes an experience.</strong></p>
<p>The BMW i3 features many innovations for convenient and fast charging
  on the go. This includes route optimised charging planned according to
  individual criteria with automatic battery preparation for faster DC
  charging and an intelligent charging flap that opens automatically and
  Plug & Charge for automatic authentication at charging stations.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>Route planning optimised for charging: </strong>The BMW Maps
  navigation system calculates a route optimised for charging, including
  charging stops, if the destination is outside the current range. The
  driver determines the charging status at which charging stations and
  the destination should preferably be reached and which charging
  station providers they wish to use. Utilising AI, the system learns
  from past charging processes. For example, the realistically expected
  charging power, the susceptibility to faults or the exact location
  data of individual charging stations and includes the optimal charging
  station in the planning of the route. For full transparency, the
  customer receives information about the current occupancy status, the
  number of charging stations and plug types. The expected duration and
  costs of charging stops are shown in advance based on the individually
  stored charging rates. The vehicle and the My BMW App synchronise
  current information while driving; this allows the passenger to check
  the route on the go and adjust it if necessary. The availability of
  restaurants, playgrounds, toilets or shopping facilities near the
  charging stop is also shown.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>Battery preparation for faster DC charging: </strong>Battery
  preparation ensures that the high-voltage battery is brought to the
  optimal temperature before plugging in at a DC charging station. This
  increases charging capacity immediately after plugging in and shortens
  the charging time. When the driver actively routes to a DC charging
  station with BMW Maps, the BMW i3 automatically conditions (heats or
  cools) the battery. Alternatively, the function can be activated
  manually via the Central Display or the My BMW App. The current status
  of the battery temperature and the time remaining for battery
  preparation can be viewed at any time in the BMW i3 vehicle status and
  in the My BMW App.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>Intelligent charging flap: </strong>The charging port is
  located on the rear right side of the vehicle It is possible to open
  the charging flap manually, but this is no longer necessary as the
  intelligent charging flap opens automatically as soon as the
  customer's charging request is detected. One of the triggers for
  opening is AI-supported: If the customer walks towards a known or
  learned charging point, the movement path reveals the charging
  intention and the flap opens. If no charging cable is connected, the
  charging flap closes automatically – as it does after the charging
  process is complete or when the vehicle is ready to drive.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>Sustainability: a holistic concept for conserving resources
    and reducing CO₂e emissions.</strong>
  <br />As with the BMW iX3, the BMW Group is also taking a holistic
  approach to sustainability with the new BMW i3. The focus is on
  decarbonisation along the entire life cycle – from product
  development, supply chain to production and use phase.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>The CO₂e advantage is already apparent after 1–2 years of use.
  <br /></strong>Depending on the model variant, annual mileage and type
  of electricity used for charging, the new BMW i3 50 xDrive achieves a
  CO₂e benefit over a comparable model with an internal combustion
  engine2 after just 1–2 years of use.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>Decarbonisation in the supply chain. <br /></strong>A key
  starting point for reducing CO₂e emissions is targeted decarbonisation
  throughout the supply chain. Renewable energy, increased use of
  secondary materials, and product and process innovations contribute to
  a significant reduction in emissions in the supply chain of all drive variants.<br />
  <br />The result of this consistent approach can be proven by the
  emissions reductions achieved: CO₂e emissions in the supply chain were
  reduced by around 33 per cent even during the product development of
  the BMW i32.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>Innovative materials and technologies in the interior and
  exterior.<br /></strong>The "Design for Circularity"
  principle is also systematically applied in the new BMW i3. This
  approach entails an enhanced utilisation of secondary materials,
  strategic selection of materials and the optimisation of dismantling capabilities.<br />
  <br />In the front bumper of the BMW i3, 30 per cent recycled plastic
  is used in the trim. In addition, the variety of materials in the
  entire bumper without attachments has been reduced from 15 to 7
  materials compared to its predecessor (BMW 3 Series). Thanks to the
  extensive use of a plastic particularly suitable for recycling, the
  proportion of recyclable plastics was increased from approximately 46
  per cent in the predecessor model to approximately 85 per
  cent2. This creates the basis for the recovery of
  high-quality recycled plastics from the vehicle.<br />
  <br />Another example of the implementation of the “Design for
  Circularity” principle in the BMW i3 is the “Essential” Econeer seat
  covers, which consist of a recyclable textile composite. The base
  material of the outer material contains of 100 per cent recycled
  polyester. Utilising recycled PET as a raw material for the polyester
  yarn significantly cuts down CO₂e emissions and water usage in
  production when compared to using primary materials. In addition, the
  dismantling capacity of the seat cover has been improved to facilitate
  sorted separation at the end of the life cycle.<br />
  <strong>
    <br />Use of secondary materials in the new BMW
  i3. <br /></strong>The new BMW i3 consists of a total of around 30 per
  cent of secondary materials2: the proportion of secondary
  materials in the aluminium cast components of the swivel bearings and
  hub carriers is 80 per cent; the cast aluminium rims consist of 70 per
  cent secondary aluminium. The housing of the Gen6 motor on the rear
  axle also consists of approximately two-thirds recycled aluminium.<br />
  <br />The Gen6 battery cells of the BMW i3 high-voltage battery pack
  use a proportion of secondary materials for cobalt, lithium and
  nickel. Energy from renewable sources is also used in the production
  of anode and cathode material as well as in cell production. Compared
  to a previous Gen5 cell in the BMW i4, the CO₂e footprint in the cell
  supply chain is reduced by around 33 per cent per Wh. Another example
  of the innovative use of materials and secondary materials is the
  engine compartment cover and the storage compartment under the front
  door of the BMW i3. The base material consists of 30 per cent recycled
  marine plastic. This is post-consumer material made from used fishing
  nets and ropes. The starting material of the yarn for the textile of
  the headliner and the A-pillar contains 100 per cent recycled material.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>Improved efficiency in the usage phase.<br /></strong>The
  EfficientDynamics technology package optimises vehicle efficiency
  across all subsystems during the usage phase. It includes
  aerodynamics, lightweight construction, rolling resistance and overall
  energy management. The BMW Group has been using EfficientDynamics
  since 2007 and is independent of the drive technology.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>In line with the sustainability goals of the BMW
  Group.<br /></strong>The BMW Group's commitment to the Paris Climate
  Agreement and to Net Zero by 2050 at the latest is an integral part of
  the holistic 360° sustainability approach, which is anchored in the
  corporate strategy. The company has set itself ambitious,
  scientifically derived CO₂e targets for the coming years. For example,
  the BMW Group intends to reduce its CO₂e emissions by a total of at
  least 40 million tonnes of CO₂e in 2030 and by around 60 million
  tonnes of CO₂e by 2035. This means an additional reduction of around
  20 million tonnes of CO₂e in addition to the existing 2030 target.<br />
  <br />
  <strong>Transparency thanks to the Product Carbon Footprint.
  <br /></strong>The BMW Group has long published the TÜV-certified
  greenhouse gas emissions (TÜV = Technical Inspection Association) of
  its vehicles as part of the Vehicle Footprint initiative. This report
    is<strong> publicly available </strong>
  <a href="https://www.bmwgroup.com/de/downloadcenterpage.html?area=responsibility#accordion-6a292cd825-item-8328e6e2ab">here</a>
  for all drives of the new BMW 3 Series at the start of production and
  can also be accessed in the My BMW App. This creates increased
  transparency regarding the proportions of secondary raw materials
  (SRQ) and CO₂e emissions over the entire life cycle of the vehicles.<br />
  <br />

<p>As of November 2018, the BMW i3 and BMW i3s are now able to cover a
  distance of 260 kilometres*** in real world driving conditions which
  represents an almost 30 per cent increase in range.</p>
<p>With cell capacity increased to 120 ampere hours (Ah) and a gross
  energy content of 42.2 kilowatt hours (kWh), a new generation of
  high-voltage batteries enables the BMW i3 (120 Ah) (combined power
  consumption: 13.6 – 13.1 kWh/100 km; combined CO2
  emissions: 0 g/km)* and the BMW i3s (120 Ah) (combined power
  consumption: 14.3 kWh/100 km; combined CO2 emissions:
  0 g/km)* to achieve a significantly further enhanced range</p>
<p>Since the market launch of the BMW i3, the storage capacity of its
  high-voltage battery has been doubled, thereby increasing the car's
  range as well. At the same time as the introduction of the new
  battery, a new body finish, a new colour for the optional interior
  design Loft and adaptive LED headlights with matrix function for the
  high beam are also available for the BMW i3 and BMW i3s. In future, a
  sports package will be available for the BMW i3 that includes black
  wheel arch surrounds and a sports suspension with specific dampers,
  springs and stabilisers, lowered suspension, a widened track and
  20-inch light alloy wheels. The optimised guidance system in the tile
  design of the iDrive operating system is now available in conjunction
  with the optional navigation system Business. In future, the options
  telephony with wireless charging and wireless LAN hotspot will also be
  available for the BMW i3 and BMW i3s.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong>Ongoing progress in battery development: increased energy
    content while dimensions remain the same.</strong></p>
<p>Like the electric motors and power electronics, the high-voltage
  batteries are an integral part of the BMW eDrive technology used in
  BMW i automobiles and developed independently by the BMW Group. Its
  lithium-ion cells are produced exclusively based on specifications
  defined by the BMW Group. Based on sound research and development work
  conducted in close cooperation with the manufacturer of the battery
  cells, consistent optimisation of the storage units is achieved in
  terms of power output, range, safety and durability. Installed deep in
  the floor of the vehicle, the high-voltage battery is produced at the
  BMW plant in Dingolfing and consists of eight modules, each with
  twelve storage cells: the latest advancements have resulted in a
  capacity of 120 Ah along with a gross energy content of 42.2 kWh –
  while the size remains unchanged. This is yet another major step
  towards increased range. For comparison: at the market launch of the
  BMW i3 in 2013, the equivalent figures were 60 Ah and 22.6 kWh, while
  the second-generation battery introduced in 2016 reaches a level of
  94 Ah and 33 kWh.</p>
<p>In addition to vehicle weight and the installation space taken up by
  the high-voltage battery, driving performance and energy consumption
  likewise remain virtually unaltered by the increased range achieved by
  the latest advancements. The BMW i3, powered by a 125 kW/170 hp
  electric motor, accelerates in 7.3 seconds from zero to 100 km/h,
  while the BMW i3s with 135 kW/184 hp completes the standard sprint in
  6.9 seconds. This means that the two models both set the benchmark for
  sporty performance within their vehicle segment. Thanks to spontaneous
  power delivery as is typical of electric motors, the BMW i3 and BMW
  i3s even reach the level of sports cars that have a considerably more
  powerful combustion engine: here the figures are 5.1 and 4.3 seconds
  respectively for the sprint from 80 to 120 km/h.</p>
<p>The combined power consumption of the BMW i3 (120 Ah) is between 13.6
  and 13.1 kWh per 100 kilometres*, while the BMW i3s (120 Ah) has a
  power consumption of 14.3 kWh per 100 kilometres*. The high efficiency
  of the electric motor and the enhanced battery capacity result in a
  range that is nearly 30 per cent higher than that of the predecessor
  models. The range of the BMW i3 (120 Ah) is 380 to 395 kilometres*
  (previously 290 to 300 km) according to NEDC, and 285 to
  310 kilometres** (previously 235 – 255 km) according to WLTP. For the
  BMW i3s (120 Ah), a range of 360 kilometres* (previously 280 km) has
  been calculated according to NEDC, and a range of 270 to 285
  kilometres** (previously 235 –245 km) according to WLTP. In everyday
  conditions, both models now achieve a range of 260 kilometres***
  (previously 200 km).</p>
<p>The high-quality charging electronics of the BMW i3 and BMW i3s
  allows fast and flexible refreshment of the energy reserves. The
  standard charging cable is designed to be plugged into a conventional
  household socket. Here the battery can be charged to up to 80 per cent
  of its full power in approximately 15 hours with a charging capacity
  of 2.4 kW. Connection to the BMW i Wallbox enables rapid three-phase
  charging with a capacity of 11 kW. Here the time required to achieve
  an 80 per cent charge of the large-capacity high-voltage battery is
  3.2 hours. The power electronics and high-voltage battery in the BMW
  i3 and BMW i3s can also be used in conjunction with quick-charging
  stations that run on DC power. Here the charging capacity is 50 kW and
  the high-voltage battery reaches 80 per cent of its total power in
  just 42 minutes.</p>
<p>With its battery capacity increased to 42.2 kWh, the latest version
  of the BMW i3 also follows the brand's holistic concept, applicable
  since market launch and geared towards responsible use of resources:
  this includes not just locally emissions-free power but also material
  selection and production techniques as well as mobility services. The
  BMW i3 (120 Ah) and the BMW i3s (120 Ah) have a much more favourable
  CO2 footprint across the entire vehicle lifecycle – from
  raw material extraction and manufacture through to use and recycling –
  and this makes for significantly lower global warming potential than
  is the case with comparable, conventionally powered automobiles.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong>Sports package as a new option for the BMW i3.</strong></p>
<p>In future, the new sports package will enable additional emphasis of
  brand-based driving pleasure derived from locally emissions-free
  mobility in the BMW i3. The key element of the new option is the
  sports suspension, which is a standard feature in the BMW i3s and
  includes specific dampers, springs and stabilisers, a suspension
  lowered by 10 millimetres, a widened track and 20-inch light alloy
  wheels in Jet Black or Bicolor finish with mixed tyres. This increase
  in driving dynamics is visually underscored by means of black wheel
  arch surrounds, which also form part of the BMW i sports package.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong>New body finishes, adaptive LED headlights, optimised controls
    and connectivity.</strong></p>
<p>Since 2014 the BMW i3 has been the world's best-selling electrically
  powered vehicle in the premium compact segment. On the streets of
  urban conurbations it has come to stand as a symbol of pioneering
  mobility. Its characteristic shaping is closely linked to the
  LifeDrive vehicle architecture, which combines an aluminium chassis
  with a passenger cell made carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP).
  With the introduction of the new battery generation, the design of the
  BMW i3 and the BMW i3s has been enriched with fresh accentuations. The
  choice of body finish for the two models has been extended to include
  the new variant Jucaro Beige metallic with accentuations in Frozen
  Grey. Meanwhile the exterior paint finishes Mineral Grey metallic,
  Imperial Blue metallic, Melbourne Red metallic, Capparis White and
  Fluid Black are still available. To match the new body finish, the
  optional interior design Loft now includes upholstery in the
  fabric/Sensatec combination "Electronic" – in Carum Grey
  with accentuations in brown and interior surfaces in Electronic Brown.</p>
<p>As an alternative to the standard LED headlights, adaptive LED
  headlights are now available with an automatic, selective dip function
  for the high beam. The innovative matrix technology for the high beam
  increases visibility range while at the same avoiding any dazzle
  effect on other road users. For this purpose it is divided into four
  horizontally arranged segments which can be activated and deactivated
  independently of each other at speeds of over 70 km/h. The high beam
  segments are controlled based on the traffic situation. As soon as the
  front camera registers an oncoming vehicle or a vehicle travelling
  ahead in the same direction, the space in which this vehicle is
  located is illuminated using the low beam only. This is effected by
  deactivation of the matrix high beam segments that are responsible for
  this area. The remaining areas of the road continue to be illuminated
  by the high beam. Adaptive LED headlight functions also include the
  cornering light and the high beam assistant.</p>
<p>The optimised menu display for the iDrive operating system with
  buttons in tile structure and in live mode is now also available in
  conjunction with the optional navigation system Business. This means
  that the desired content is now available even more quickly and
  conveniently. What is more, the program of optional equipment items
  now also includes the option of telephony with wireless charging,
  which allows compatible mobile phones to be recharged without use of a
  cable. The wireless LAN hotspot, likewise newly available for the BMW
  i3 and the BMW i3s, provides a fast online connection for up to ten
  end devices inside the vehicle.</p>

  <strong>Munich.</strong> The BMW i3 sets standards worldwide for
  driving pleasure in a purely electrically-driven vehicle. Key factors
  here are not only the increased output of the motor in the new BMW
  i3s, but also the innovative traction control system adapted
  specifically to the instantaneous power deliver of the BMW eDrive
  system. Presented for the first time in the new BMW i3s (270 Nm at 0
  rpm, 135 kW / 184 HP, power consumption combined in European NEFZ
  test-cycle*: 14.3 kWh/100 km; CO2 emissions combined: 0 g/km), the
  system improves traction and driving stability in adverse weather and
  road conditions when pulling away, in active Brake Energy Regeneration
  phases and when accelerating out of tight corners. At the heart of
  this innovation is the control system’s 50-times-faster routine, made
  possible because – unlike conventional driving stability systems – the
  control process is now calculated directly in the powertrain instead
  of in a remote unit requiring long signal paths. This development
  provides further evidence of BMW i as a pioneer of innovative
  technology within the BMW Group.</p>
<p>“With their high levels of torque and instantaneous responses to
  every movement of the accelerator, electric motors already make
  significantly higher demands on driving stability systems than
  conventional power units,” explains Peter Langen, Head of Chassis
  Development at BMW. <br />
  <br /> That’s why the BMW engineers developed a new type of system
  geared squarely to the demands of electric mobility. <br /> The
  positive impact of these shorter control cycles is not reserved for
  purely electrically driven cars; indeed, this innovative traction
  control system also optimises traction, driving stability and driving
  dynamics in vehicles with combustion engines. It will therefore be
  fitted in BMW and MINI models with front-, rear- and all-wheel drive
  to deliver noticeably greater assurance and driving pleasure when road
  conditions make pulling away difficult.</p>
<p>

  sustainability and intelligent connectivity in the urban traffic
  environment, i3 has become the best-selling electric car in the
  premium compact segment. The recipe for success of the BMW i3 has now
  been further improved, thanks not just to refreshing styling accents,
  cutting-edge equipment features and new digital services, but also to
  the addition of a new model variant. For making its debut alongside
  the new edition of the first ever premium car to be conceived from the
  outset for all-electric mobility is the BMW i3s. With a higher output,
  model-specific chassis technology, noticeably more dynamic driving
  qualities and design features all of its own, it generates a
  particularly intense blend of the unrivalled sporty driving pleasure
  associated with electric cars from the BMW Group. By offering a
  premium-quality, all-electric driving experience, meaning zero local
  emissions, together with a whole new level of connectivity technology,
  both models represent the future of urban mobility.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The BMW i3 has reigned as the top-selling premium electric car in its
  class since 2014, not just in Europe but worldwide too. It’s not just
  the visionary electric vehicles and inspirational design that help to
  make BMW i so popular, but also its innovative mobility solutions and
  the revolutionary new form of premium character, with sustainability
  as a key defining element. By offering such products while also
  adopting an all-embracing approach that takes into account the
  complete lifecycle – from raw material production, through the
  manufacture and operation of the vehicles to their later recycling –
  the BMW i brand has established itself as a pioneer for
  forward-thinking mobility.</p>

  <strong>BMW eDrive electric motor in two output levels, high-voltage
    battery with large capacity of 94 Ah/33 kWh, optional range extender engine.</strong></p>
<p>The driving experience in the BMW i models has played no small part
  in the growing appeal and popularity of electric mobility. Following
  systematic refinement, the BMW eDrive technology aboard the new BMW i3
  and new BMW i3s enables drivers to enjoy locally emission-free
  mobility with wonderfully instantaneous power delivery, efficient use
  of energy and an optimised range for a level of everyday practicality
  that even extends beyond the demands of purely urban travel. Both
  models draw their energy from the lithium-ion high-voltage battery
  developed by the BMW Group with a capacity of 94 ampere hours (Ah) or
  33 kilowatt hours (kWh). A range extender engine can be ordered as an
  option for both the new BMW i3 and the new BMW i3s.</p>
<p>The new BMW i3 and new BMW i3s will celebrate their world premieres
  at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt/Main in September
  2017 and the Irish launch is expected this November.</p>

<p>
  <strong>Design: sporty look.</strong></p>
<p>The new BMW i3 and new BMW i3s have a remarkably dynamic character by
  premium compact electric car standards, and a number of design tweaks
  have been included to express this to particularly striking effect in
  their visual appearance too. The unmistakable, avant-garde exterior
  styling has already picked up the iF gold award for product design and
  the World Car Design of the Year award along with other accolades, and
  it has now been enhanced by a number of deft design touches that
  clearly convey the sporty and stirring driving experience on offer.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The trademark BMW i Black Belt running from the bonnet over the roof
  to the car’s rear end is now complemented by A-pillars and roof lines
  that also sport a black finish. The range of paint finishes for the
  remaining body elements has been extended to include Melbourne Red
  metallic and Imperial Blue metallic. Besides these two new additions,
  customers can also choose from the non-metallic shades Capparis White
  and Fluid Black as well as Protonic Blue metallic and Mineral Grey metallic.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The restyling of the front and rear aprons places particular emphasis
  on the car’s width, which has the effect of signalling just how sporty
  both models are to drive and how sure their handling is. A
  chrome-design trim strip running across the full width of the rear and
  the positioning of the model and eDrive badges on the outer edges of
  the boot lid serves to reinforce this impression.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The new BMW i3 and new BMW i3s come equipped with all-LED headlights
  as standard, which employ LED bulb units for dipped beam and high beam
  as well as the daytime running lights. The new turn signal indicators
  also feature LED technology and are integrated into the front apron in
  the form of horizontal strips. This means that LEDs are now used for
  all lighting functions at the front of the vehicle too, as was already
  the case with the glass-covered rear light assemblies.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong>The new BMW i3: new styling accents for a sense of sporty elegance.</strong></p>
<p>The thoughtful evolution of the exterior design not only helps to
  bring the sporting credentials of the new BMW i3 more to the fore, but
  highlights its sophisticated elegance too. The front bumper is
  completely painted in the body colour and has a black U-shaped
  surround that reinforces the car’s presence when viewed from the
  front. Moving round to the rear end, the powerfully moulded contours
  and the contrast in colour between the black surround and the
  body-coloured inlay again create an energetic and expressive appearance.</p>
<p>The new silver-coloured roof line accent for the new BMW i3 adds a
  further touch of elegance and dynamism. It widens towards the rear,
  thereby accentuating the stream flow, as the distinctive outline of
  the side windows is known.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong>The new BMW i3s: a thoroughly dynamic performer.</strong></p>
<p>The new BMW i3s incorporates a number of design elements all of its
  own that underscore its particularly dynamic character. Both the front
  and rear aprons are notable for their model-specific, powerfully
  shaped contours. At the front, the bumper inlay as well as the
  U-shaped surround encircling it have a black finish. The front apron’s
  side sections are bordered on their lower edge by accent strips in BMW
  i Blue or Frozen Grey that further emphasise the width of the car. The
  accent in the closed BMW kidney grille is also painted in high-gloss
  black on the BMW i3s to give the grille a larger and more prominent
  appearance. The rear apron of the new BMW i3s is likewise composed of
  individually styled contours, while the black surround frames an
  extra-wide, body-coloured inlay. On the new BMW i3s, the roof line
  accent also sports the same high-gloss black finish as the A-pillars.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The new BMW i3s comes equipped as standard with sports suspension
  that includes a 10-millimetre drop in ride height. The additional
  40 millimetres of track width compared to the BMW i3 is given added
  impact by the black wheel arch borders. The new BMW i3s is available
  with exclusive 20-inch light-alloy wheels in double-spoke design that
  are 20 millimetres wider than the previously available versions. They
  can be ordered in the Bicolour and Jet Black colour variants.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong>Interior: great sense of roominess, sustainable materials.</strong></p>
<p>Like the exterior design, the interior styling of the new BMW i3 and
  new BMW i3s is rooted in the novel LifeDrive vehicle architecture. The
  carbon fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) passenger cell has a
  wonderfully spacious feel about it and is dominated by a sense of
  lightness. The design principle of the two four-seater models means
  there is no need for either fixed B-pillars or a transmission tunnel.
  Doors that open in opposite directions allow the occupants to get in
  and out with the greatest of ease.</p>
<p>The Loft, Lodge and Suite equipment lines are available for the new
  BMW i3 and new BMW i3s as alternatives to the standard Atelier
  version. The Lodge interior design option includes a new covering for
  the seat surfaces in Solaric Brown that combines natural leather
  tanned using an olive leaf extract with a wool-based textile material.
  The fact that the BMW i3 and BMW i3s also count sustainability among
  their premium characteristics shines through in the rest of the
  materials selected for them too, including recycled plastics,
  renewable raw materials, natural fibres and open-pored, unbleached
  eucalyptus wood. Over 80 percent of the surfaces visible to the
  passengers are made from recycled materials or renewable resources.
  The new blue seat belt option provides a splash of colour in the
  interior in typical brand style. The BMW i3s supplements all this with
  special model lettering on the front floor mats as standard.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong>Emission-free fun at the wheel:</strong>
  <strong>a more intense experience than ever, now with two power options.</strong></p>
<p>The synchronous electric motor powering the new BMW i3 generates a
  maximum output of 125 kW/170 hp. Its peak torque is 250 Nm
  (184 lb-ft), all of which is available instantly from a standstill, as
  is usual with electric motors. This means that stepping on the
  accelerator pedal immediately unleashes a thrilling burst of speed.
  The motor smoothly delivers the kind of performance that drivers
  expect from a BMW via a single-speed automatic transmission, with
  continuous power delivery that builds up the car’s tempo in a
  characteristically dynamic fashion. 0-100 km/h is achieved by the new
  BMW i3 in 7.3 seconds. Its top speed is limited to 150 km/h.</p>
<p>Located low in the vehicle floor, the lithium-ion high-voltage
  battery provides a range of 290 to 300 kilometres* based on the NEDC
  cycle, 235 to 255 kilometres** as per WLTP and up to 200 kilometres***
  in everyday use. The combined electric power consumption of the new
  BMW i3 on the NEDC cycle varies between 13.6 and 13.1 kWh for every 100 kilometres*.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong>Bringing outstanding driving dynamics to the electric vehicle
    segment, wit</strong>h <strong>instantaneous torque, superb traction
    and precisely controllable drifts.</strong></p>
<p>The agile handling characteristics of the BMW i3 are improved still
  further by the optimised Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) system. This
  comprehensively revised, faster responding traction control system
  guarantees confident handling under all driving conditions. The BMW i3
  now features a globally unique form of wheel speed limiting that
  ensures increased directional stability, both under dynamic
  acceleration and on the overrun with strong regenerative braking.
  Traction during pull-away on snow and wet roads has also been
  noticeably improved. DTC (Dynamic Traction Control) mode now boosts
  agility at higher speeds and during sporty cornering, even allowing
  mild and safely controllable drifts when grip levels are reduced.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The new BMW i3s provides an even sportier interpretation of silent
  mobility with zero local emissions and features a high-performance
  135 kW/184 hp electric motor that generates peak torque of 270 Nm
  (199 lb-ft). Its updated drive system includes modified motor control
  and specific taper roller bearings, which have been utilised to
  further optimise power delivery and the performance curve at higher
  rpm. At the limits of the motor speed range, the power and torque of
  the further developed drive system represent an improvement of up to
  40% for the BMW i3.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>What’s more, the new BMW i3s boasts sports suspension with specially
  developed springs, dampers and anti-roll bars. Drivers can also select
  SPORT mode using the Driving Experience Control switch. This initiates
  more direct accelerator response and tighter steering characteristics
  to further accentuate the car’s sporting edge.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Just 6.9 seconds is enough to see the new BMW i3s burst past 100 km/h
  on its way to a top speed of 160 km/h. It returns a combined electric
  power consumption of 14.3 kWh per 100 kilometres* on the NEDC cycle.
  Its electric range runs to 280 kilometres* based on the NEDC cycle,
  235 to 245 kilometres** as per WLTP and up to 200 kilometres*** in
  everyday use.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>A 28 kW/38 hp two-cylinder range extender petrol engine is available
  as an option for both the new BMW i3 and the new BMW i3s. The engine
  drives a generator that produces power as required while driving to
  maintain a constant level of charge in the high-voltage battery. This
  extends the car’s overall range in everyday use by 150 kilometres,
  increasing it from around 180 kilometres to a maximum of
  330 kilometres***. The all-electric range of the new BMW i3 with range
  extender is 225 to 235 kilometres* as per NEDC and 190 to
  200 kilometres** as per WLTP. The corresponding figures for the new
  BMW i3s with range extender come in at 220 kilometres* on the NEDC and
  185 to 195 kilometres** on the WLTP cycle.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>On the NEDC cycle, the new BMW i3 with range extender returns
  combined consumption figures per 100 kilometres of 11.9 to 11.5 kWh of
  electric power and 0.6 litres of fuel (fuel consumption of 470.8 mpg
  imp; CO2 emissions: 14 –13 g/km)*. On the same combined NEDC cycle,
  the new BMW i3s with range extender consumes 12.5 kWh of electric
  power per 100 kilometres and 0.7 litres of fuel (fuel consumption of
  403.5 mpg imp; CO2 emissions: 14 g/km)*.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong>Extensive range of driver assistance systems:</strong>
  <strong>Parking Assistant and Traffic Jam Assistant take over control
    of steering.</strong></p>
<p>The driver assistance systems available for the new BMW i3 and
  BMW i3s ease the driver’s workload and provide support in various
  traffic situations, as well as helping with longitudinal and lateral
  vehicle control. The optional Parking Assistance package includes Park
  Distance Control, a reversing camera and the Parking Assistant. Once a
  suitable parking space parallel to the road has been selected, the
  Parking Assistant takes control of acceleration, braking, gear
  selection and steering.</p>
<p>Driving Assistant Plus, also available as an option, incorporates
  Collision and Pedestrian Warning with City Braking function, Speed
  Limit Info, Proactive Driving Assistant, Active Cruise Control with
  Stop & Go function, and the Traffic Jam assistant, which not only
  maintains a safe distance to the car in front in stop-start traffic at
  up to 60 km/h, but also keeps the car in lane. The system takes its
  cues from lane markings, the width of the road and vehicles travelling ahead.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong>Further developed iDrive system, BMW i ConnectedDrive with
    navigation features and On-Street Parking Information specially
    developed for electric mobility.</strong></p>
<p>Both the new BMW i3 and new BMW i3s come with an updated version of
  the iDrive operating system, which provides an intuitive interface for
  controlling numerous vehicle, infotainment, communications and
  navigation functions. In vehicles equipped with the Navigation system
  Professional, the Control Display has a diagonal of 10.25 inches and
  an increased resolution of 1,440 × 540 pixels. The main menu is also
  presented in the form of horizontally arranged tiles with a live mode.
  The voice recognition system has also been further optimised. With the
  aid of Natural Language Understanding, spoken instructions can now be
  executed more quickly and precisely, e.g. when searching for music and
  phone numbers or dictating e-mails and SMS messages. New to the
  options list is Apple CarPlay preparation. This allows additional
  smartphone apps to be integrated seamlessly with the vehicle’s
  operating system.</p>
<p>The further expanded BMW i ConnectedDrive offering – unmatched by any
  rival – ensures intelligent connectivity through services specially
  tailored to electric mobility. The digital On-Street Parking
  Information search service, now available for the first time in the
  BMW i3, can also be used alongside the Real Time Traffic Information
  system if the Navigation system Professional is specified. Public
  charging stations and information about their availability can also be
  displayed on the navigation system’s map. When route guidance is
  activated, data about the route is also used to calculate the range
  shown in the instrument cluster as accurately as possible. The range
  map provides a visual representation of the current operating radius.
  It is also possible to display the different ranges achievable in each
  of the Driving Experience Control modes. BMW i-specific navigation
  features also include intermodal route guidance. This helps users to
  quickly and efficiently reach their destination by factoring in local
  public transport timetables and connections. Regular, automatic
  updates of the navigation data are now also provided “over the air” in
  the BMW i3, using a mobile network connection.</p>
<p>A package of new services were introduced in July 2017 under the
  BMW Connected+ banner which enable a highly personalised and more
  straightforward display of information inside the car. All of the
  digital services related to BMW Connected and BMW Connected+ will be
  available in the BMW i3 and BMW i3s. These span intelligent route
  planning, including stop-offs at charging stations or petrol stations
  (Send my Routes to Car), sharing of the car’s current location via SMS
  and live link (Share Live Trip Status), personalised display of
  relevant in-car information (BMW Onboard), seamless transfer of route
  instructions to the customer’s smartphone or smartwatch once the car
  is parked (Navigate Door-to-Door) and direct syncing of contacts and
  addresses to the navigation system (My Destinations).</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong>BMW Digital Charging Service enables intelligent charging.</strong></p>
<p>The BMW Digital Charging Service brings customers the future of
  charging, today. BMW ConnectedDrive and the BMW ConnectedDrive Portal
  turn charging into a digital experience. As a result, the BMW i3 and
  BMW i3s are integrated perfectly into the customer’s smart ecosystem.
  This allows BMW customers to optimise charging costs, make best use of
  self-generated solar energy for charging and even earn money through
  integration into the smart grid. The service’s ease of use – from a
  smartphone via BMW Connected or from PCs and tablets via the
  BMW ConnectedDrive Portal – also facilitates fully transparent,
  sustainable use of renewable energy. With the introduction of its
  unique BMW Digital Charging Service, BMW becomes the world’s first
  carmaker to integrate electric mobility with its customers’ digital worlds.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong>360° ELECTRIC:</strong>
  <strong>new charging cable, BMW i Wallbox Connect.</strong></p>
<p>360° ELECTRIC is a range of products and services that help make
  electric mobility a convenient, everyday experience. The functionality
  of the standard charging cable supplied with the new BMW i3s has been
  optimised and includes a temperature sensor. Charging at home is
  extremely user-friendly thanks to the BMW i Wallbox which, in its most
  recent incarnation, can supply 11 kW of power to charge the
  high-voltage battery. This allows enough energy for an electric range
  of around 180 kilometres to be transferred in under three hours – five
  times quicker than with the standard charging cable. The new
  BMW i Wallbox Connect also extends the functionality of the globally
  unique Digital Charging Service to provide intelligent charging for
  optimal cost efficiency, and allows customers to make best use of
  self-generated solar energy. In addition, it is also possible to

  have today announced a partnership that will drive a better and
  brighter future for our children.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>As part of a new affiliation with UNICEF Ireland, Frank Keane BMW
  presented five BMW i3’s to support the organisation in raising
  much-needed funds and awareness in Ireland for the provision of
  humanitarian aid to children in developing countries. For UNICEF
  Ireland, the partnership represents an innovative way to keep fleet
  costs to a minimum, achieving emission-free mobility.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>This announcement coincides with Frank Keane BMW becoming an official
  BMW i Agent and marks a new chapter in the company’s 50th year of
  association with BMW.</p>
<p>So, in addition to presenting five vehicles, BMW Frank Keane have
  committed to supporting UNICEF Ireland by donating €15 to UNICEF for
  every new car purchased and up to €5 for every service. Each customer
  of the Blackrock and Naas Road branches will also be given the
  opportunity to match the donation.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Frank Keane BMW has agreed to supply the fleet at below market rates
  in recognition of UNICEF’s important work. One of the key reasons BMW
  i was chosen by UNICEF Ireland as the most suitable vehicle partner is
  due to BMW Group’s approach environmental and social sustainability
  throughout entire life cycle of its cars from start to finish as it is
  takes more than just zero-emission motoring to drive sustainable
  change in the world.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>This approach includes everything from the extraction of raw
  materials and manufacture, through usage to recycling, in order to
  take account of all environmental aspects. For example, up to 95 per
  cent of the BMW i3 is recyclable and the manufacturing process of the
  BMW i3 is from green power such as wind turbines and one of the
  world’s largest hydroelectric plants. In fact, the BMW Group have
  consistently been the automotive sector leader or the Dow Jones
  Sustainability Indexes (DJSI). The BMW Group is also the only one of
  the three automobile manufacturers listed to feature in the renowned
  index every year since 1999.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>“UNICEF Ireland is constantly seeking new and innovative ways of
  helping children, this partnership is an excellent example. UNICEF is
  70 years in operation, while Frank Keane BMW is celebrating its 50th
  Anniversary – together we will use the skills and knowledge we have
  acquired in our respective fields to achieve breakthrough change for
  children”, said Peter Power, Executive Director, UNICEF Ireland.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Frank Keane BMW, who recently celebrated its 50th year of association
  with BMW is now embarking on expansion as a BMW i Agent. Dedicated
  sales and servicing facilities for BMW i models, including the i3, i8
  and iPerformance models have been established at the Naas Road and
  Blackrock locations.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>“We are excited to be embarking on a new chapter with the BMW i brand
  and the partnership with UNICEF who are leading by example. This fleet
  of i3’s will provide emission free driving with a pure electric range
  of 130kms in real-world driving conditions and will certainly be eye
  catching on our roads” said Mark Bradley, Head of Business at Frank
  Keane BMW.</p>

  Car award at the New York International Auto Show. “We are delighted
  and honoured that the BMW i3 has been recognised as the World Urban
  Car of the Year,” said Ludwig Willisch, Head of BMW Group Region
  Americas. “This award highlights BMW Group’s commitment to sustainable
  mobility through BMW’s first all-electric vehicle made primarily of
  carbon fibre. The design brief for the BMW i3 was to create a Mega
  City Vehicle for the cities of the future. Today, the new 2017 BMW i3
  94Ah provides more range, paired with a high-level of dynamic
  performance, making it the perfect urban vehicle for people around the
  world.” Launched in 2014, the born electric BMW i3 represents a new
  era of electro mobility offering a visionary design, a ground-breaking
  vehicle architecture, dynamic performance and innovative connectivity.
  No other car represents such a holistic approach to sustainability
  throughout the value chain.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>World Car vice-chairman, Mike Rutherford, commented: “It's an award
  whose time has come. Everyday cars in many - perhaps most - parts of
  the world will have to become smaller if road and parking space is to
  be found for them in increasingly packed towns and cities whose
  populations are swelling annually. This year's winner in our inaugural
  World Urban Car category proves that these small vehicles don't have
  to be cheap, undesirable and unpleasant to drive. Quite the opposite.
  It is among the best value-for-money products on the market”.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The BMW i3 94Ah offers 50 per cent increased battery capacity (33kWh)
  thanks to the higher energy density of the lithium ion cells. The BMW
  i team have worked to ensure that the battery dimensions remain
  unchanged while still offering a significant range increase. The
  driving performance figures of the 170hp AC synchronous electric motor
  remain virtually unchanged. The motor propels the BMW i3 from zero to
  100kms in just 7.3 seconds making the BMW i3 the sportiest and most
  efficient electric vehicle in the premium segment. BMW i3 prices start
  from €36,300* or €326 per month thanks to BMW’s Select PCP offers.</p>
<p>*Price includes SEAI Grant of €5,000 and VRT Rebate of €5,000.</p>
