Příchod první řady špičkových sportovních modelů v kategoriích Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) a Sports Activity Coupe (SAC) střední třídy do nabídky BMW M GmbH znamená představení modelů BMW X3 M a BMW X4 M a ještě působivějších BMW X3 M Competition a v BMW X4 M Competition.

Příchod první řady špičkových sportovních modelů v kategoriích Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) a Sports Activity Coupe (SAC) střední třídy do nabídky BMW M GmbH znamená také představení nově vyvinutého řadového šestiválcového motoru ve dvou variantách. Tento motor je výjimečný svým typickým točivým charakterem vozů divize M, nejnovější verzí technologie M TwinPower Turbo a na závodních okruzích testovaného chlazení a mazání. Nabízí výkon 353 kW/480 k v BMW X3 M (kombinovaná spotřeba paliva: 10,5 l/100 km; kombinované emise CO2: 239 g/km*) a BMW X4 M (kombinovaná spotřeba paliva: 10,6 l/100 km; kombinované emise CO2: 239 g/km*) a ještě působivějších 375 kW/510 k v BMW X3 M Competition (kombinovaná spotřeba paliva: 10,5 l/100 km; kombinované emise CO2: 239 g/km*) a v BMW X4 M Competition (kombinovaná spotřeba paliva: 10,6 l/100 km; kombinované emise CO2: 239 g/km*).

Výjimečné výkonnostní charakteristicky pohonných jednotek o objemu 3,0 litru jsou podpořeny lineárním přísunem výkonu, typickým pro vozy divize M, a nadšením pro otáčky, které zastaví až jejich omezovač. To vše je doplněno působivým zvukovým doprovodem. Stejně tak hodnota maximálního točivého momentu 600 Nm představuje nový vrchol mezi řadovými šestiválcovými motory z produkce BMW. Pokračující vývoj technologie M TwinPower Turbo, spolu s použitím dvojice benzinových filtrů pevných částic a čtyř katalyzátorů, také zaručuje, že se oba vysoce výkonné motory vyznačují působivou účinností a neobyčejně nízkými emisemi.
