The New BMW M3 Convertible

Summary
The New BMW M3 Convertible: High Performance in its Most Exciting Style

The new M3 coupé has hardly made its very successful start into
the market - and now the second attractive version of the BMW M3 is
just around the corner: The new M3 convertible, an open four-seater
sports convertible truly forming a class of its own, will be entering
the market in spring 2001. While identical to the M3 coupé all
the way back to the A-pillar, this car is truly unique in every
respect. The striking waistline and the special flair of a convertible
give the car an even more athletic and powerful look, making the M3
convertible an even more muscular, lower and wider appearance on the
road. It goes without saying that the M3 convertible comes with all
the features so typical of BMW M, such as the 343 bhp/252 kW high-speed
normal-aspiration engine, the perfectly tuned M suspension, the new
Variable M Differential Lock, M high-performance brakes, and the unique
design elements of BMW M combined with the well-known qualities of the
new 3 Series convertible. These include electrically adjustable sports
seats with an integrated belt system, a variable roof compartment, a
superior level of safety ensured by optimum body stiffness, and the
rollover safety system featured as standard. Compared with its
predecessor already very successful in its small niche, the new M3
convertible offers an even more sophisticated and refined interior. And
with its top speed of 250 km/h or 155 mph, the M3 convertible gives you
all the power you can imagine: Acceleration to 100 km/h comes in just
5.5 seconds and acceleration in 4th gear from 80-120 km/h is in 5.9
seconds, while average fuel consumption is a mere 12.1 litres/100 km or
23.3 mpg Imp. The new M3 convertible will be retailing in the German
market at a price of DM 113,000.-. Introducing the new convertible
model, BMW is successfully enhancing the leading role of the M3 in the
high-performance segment of the market.
