Munich. Supreme power, an imposing thirst for
forward progress and extravagant styling allow the new
BMW X5 M Competition (fuel consumption combined:
13.0 – 12.8 l/100 km [21.7 – 22.1 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions
combined: 296 – 291 g/km) and new BMW X6 M Competition (fuel
consumption combined: 13.1 l/100 km [21.6 mpg imp];
CO2 emissions combined: 301 g/km) to carve out a unique
place for themselves on the world’s roads. Their performance
attributes set new standards and now they are also raising the bar
once again in terms of exclusivity. First Edition specification
accentuates the effervescent and distinctive character of the BMW M
models in the luxury Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) and Sports
Activity Coupé (SAC) segments to particularly stylish effect.

Precisely coordinated design cues for the exterior and interior
lend the special-edition takes on the new BMW X5 M Competition and
new BMW X6 M Competition the status of intoxicating rarities at the
high-performance reaches of their respective segments. Their air of
exclusivity creates the ideal environment in which to enjoy the
unmistakable driving experience laid on by a high-revving V8 engine
with two turbochargers and 460 kW/625 hp, M-specific suspension and
M xDrive all-wheel drive. The two special-edition newcomers will be
produced at BMW Plant Spartanburg in the US in a limited run of
250 examples each and can be ordered with immediate effect.

The BMW Individual Frozen Dark Silver special paint finish
available exclusively for the special-edition models showcases the
exterior design of the new BMW X5 M Competition and new
BMW X6 M Competition to extremely impressive effect. This matt paint
finish ensures the muscular proportions, clear forms and signature
M details of the body design come authentically to the fore,
regardless of how the light hits the car. The two special-edition
cars can also be specified with the BMW Individual Frozen Marina Bay
Blue special paint finish. This exterior shade is one of the BMW
special finishes now available ex-factory for the
BMW X5 M Competition, BMW X6 M Competition, BMW X5, BMW X6 and
BMW X7. These special paint shades are increasing in number all the time.

The high-quality paint finishes team up with M light-alloy wheels
in star-spoke design with a Jet Black, high-gloss finish available
exclusively for the special-edition models. The wheels (front:
21-inch, rear: 22-inch) are fitted with mixed-size tyres. The
exterior styling also includes selected body elements made from
carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP). Like the M Carbon exterior
mirror caps for the two special-edition models, the M Carbon rear
spoiler for the new BMW X6 M Competition has an understated feeling
of the race track. An M Carbon engine compartment cover is likewise
part of First Edition specification.

BMW Individual Merino full leather trim in exclusive bi-colour
Silverstone/Midnight Blue ensures the interior and BMW Individual
paint finishes fit together neatly. Black Alcantara inserts in the
seat bolsters and contrast stitching in Sakhir Orange emphasise the
sporting contours of the M multifunction seats. The eye-catching
contrast stitching also bring distinctive flourishes to the door
panel trim and instrument panel. Taking its cue from the
leather-covered instrument panel, the BMW Individual headliner in
Alcantara is likewise in Midnight Blue.

The high-tech and extremely lightweight material CFRP also features
in the interior of the special-edition models. Adornments include
Carbon Fibre interior trim strips available in a special,
market-specific design. The silver-coloured “First Edition 1/250”
lettering – which is applied to the carbon-fibre strip before the
clear coat seal – highlights the exclusive character of the
special-edition models. If these interior trim strips are specified,
the model badge on the cover for the cup holders has the same design.

Singapore. BMW Asia has introducedthe
new BMW X5 M & BMW X6 M, both of which have now been given
striking accentuations at the front and rear, with new adaptive LED
headlamps as standard.

“Targeted at discerning customers who enjoy the unique
high-performance character of a BMW M car in the segment of BMW X
models, the BMW X5 M and the BMW X6 M are the first all-wheel-drive
models to offer the supreme performance, dynamic driving features,
athletic design, and premium quality of a typical BMW M Car,” said Mr
Neil Fiorentinos, Managing Director of BMW Group Asia.

“With the revised look, the exterior appearances of the BMW X5 M and
BMW X6 M have been enhanced to better characterize the exclusive
athleticism and performance supremacy that they possess.”

Sharper and More Stylish Look.

With Innovative Light Technology.

The standard fog lights of the BMW X5 M and BMW X6 M are now set in
matt finish surrounds in the upper area of the outer air inlets. Their
higher and more lateral position emphasise the width of the vehicle.
The striking three dimensional modelling of the frame and newly
designed bars, angled in the lower section, make the BMW kidney grille
stand out especially conspicuously within the vehicle front section.
The angle of the grille bars is flush with the bottom of the headlamp
units, thereby creating an additional horizontal line which likewise
highlights the wide track and stable road-holding of the new BMW X5 M
and BMW X6 M.

As an alternative to the standard bi-xenon light, the new BMW X5 M
and BMW X6 M are the first vehicles in their respective segments to be
fitted standard with adaptive LED headlamps. Their bright white light
ensures optimum visibility, while their high-quality appearance
represents a new interpretation of the brand's hallmark twin circular
headlamps. The three dimensionally shaped luminous rings of the
adaptive LED headlamps are strikingly levelled off both at the top and
bottom and are overlaid at the upper edge by an LED-fed accent light.
The light sources for low and high beam light are LED units positioned
on a horizontal bar at its centre, feeding their light into the
reflectors in front.

With the newly designed rear lights with LED technology, the
powerfully shaped rear section of the new BMW X5 M and BMW X6 M also
feature more intense styling. The rear lights are now two LED-fed
light banks which create the brand's hallmark night design as a
harmoniously glowing light mass. The fact that they are horizontally
aligned and stretch far out to the sides emphasise both the width of
the vehicle and the flowing transition between the side section and rear.

BMW X5 M and BMW X6 M.

BMW TwinPower Turbo Technology sets benchmark in Dynamic
Performance & Efficiency.

Both the BMW X5 M and the BMW X6 M are powered by a high-performance
V8 engine delivering 555 hp at an engine speed of 6,000 rpm from an
engine capacity of 4,395 cc. The BMW M TwinPower Turbo engine is the
world’s first power unit with a common exhaust manifold encompassing
both rows of cylinders and featuring TwinScroll Twin Turbo Technology.

BMW’s intelligent xDrive all-wheel-drive system is naturally geared
to the specific power and performance characteristics of the BMW X5 M
and the BMW X6 M, just like Dynamic Performance Control also standard
on both models. Interacting with the cars’ special M suspension
including Adaptive Drive and the Servotronic power steering, this
ensures the driving behavior so characteristic of a BMW M Car,
combining unique driving stability with precisely controlled steering
qualities all the way to the highest level of driving dynamics.

The BMW X5 M and the BMW X6 M set the benchmark in this segment of
high-performance models in terms of acceleration, lateral dynamics,
steering behavior, stopping power, and efficiency. Both models
accelerate to 100 km/h from a standstill in 4.7 seconds and stand out
not only through the truly impressive delivery of power by the V8
turbo engine providing maximum torque of 680 Newton-meters in the
broad speed range between 1,500 and 5,650 rpm, but also through the
likewise smooth and consistent build-up of lateral forces meeting the
highest requirements and the most dynamic level of performance in bends.

The exclusive character of both the BMW X5 M and the BMW X6 M results
to a large extent from a level of driving performance unique in this
particular segment. Both models offer the ultimate in their segment in
every respect, providing performance and dynamic driving reserves
quite unique versus the competition and ensuring an experience of
unlimited supremacy in everyday traffic.

BMW M TwinPower Turbo Technology.

Innovative Turbocharging Configuration.

Power and performance typical of BMW M is delivered by the power unit
specifically developed for both the BMW X5 M and the BMW X6 M
featuring the BMW M TwinPower Turbo technology. The BMW M TwinPower
Turbo technology is developed on the basis of Twin Scroll Twin Turbo
technology and the exhaust manifold extending over both rows of
cylinders patented by BMW offer absolutely extreme response and
spontaneity, a linear build-up of engine power, and an unusually
consistent torque curve.

The two turbochargers are positioned together with the catalytic
converters in the V-section between the two rows of cylinders. The
position of the intake and exhaust ducts provided in this way serves
to reduce the length of the pipes and manifolds and increase their
cross-section, with pressure losses on the exhaust side being
significantly minimized in the process.

The joint flow of exhaust gas provided by the common manifold system
connecting two cylinders at a time also ensures optimum gas
throughput. The separation of exhaust flow is continued until the
exhaust gas reaches the turbine wheel, building up ongoing pressure on
the two Twin Scroll Turbochargers not impaired by any kind of counter-pressure.

With maximum charge pressure amounting to 1.5 bar, the use of Twin
Scroll Twin Turbo technology with its inter-cylinder exhaust manifold
makes unique use of the turbo-charging potential. Immediate, direct
response to the gas pedal and truly exceptional pulling force from the
engine starting at low speeds and continuing consistently to the
highest load level characterize the BMW M TwinPower Turbo technology
from BMW M GmbH. The truly impressive development of power ensured in
this way is accompanied by fascinating engine sound accentuating the
fast-revving engine characteristics and the linear build-up of power
by a supreme acoustic effect typical of a BMW M Car.

Reflecting the superior power of the engine, the high-performance V8
power unit comes with a cooling system developed specifically for the
two new models. One special feature in this context is the indirect
intercooling effect serving to optimize performance under particularly
dynamic driving conditions.

The power unit in both BMW X5 M and BMW X6 M featuring the BMW M
TwinPower Turbo technology develops the outstanding output and
performance with equally outstanding efficiency. In addition to direct
fuel injection with High Precision Injection technology, both the BMW
X5 M and the BMW X6 M are equipped with a wide range of technologies
from BMW EfficientDynamics. Apart from Brake Energy Regeneration,
these also include on-demand control of the electrical fuel pump, a
detectable a/c compressor, as well as a volume flow-controlled supply
of hydraulic fluid to the anti-roll system also operating specifically
on demand.

Both models offer average fuel consumption in the EU test cycle of
13.9 liters per 100 kilometers. Their CO2 rating is 325 grams per
kilometer. And last but not least, the engine naturally fulfils all
the requirements of the US LEV II standard as well as the EU5
requirements in Europe.

The new BMW X5M and BMW X6 M are available at the Munich Automobiles showroom.

Jakarta. Only a few weeks after introducing the
new BMW X5 M to the public, BMW Indonesia has unveiled the new BMW X6
M at the BMW Studio, Plaza Indonesia. The models are the first
all-wheel-drive vehicles featuring the newly developed V8 engine that
attains 555 hp at an engine speed range of 6,000 rpm from engine
capacity of 4,395 cc.

“The new BMW X6 M targets individuals who are successful,
extroverted, performance-oriented and expect only the best
state-of-the-art technology and design,” said Ramesh
Divyanathan, President Director of BMW Indonesia. “The new
BMW X6 M will be available at BMW showrooms starting in May
2010. Interested customers can place their individual orders by
contacting our authorized dealers.”

The new BMW X6 M and the new BMW X5 M share qualities of supreme
performance on the road and the design of the front end with its large
air intakes. The BMW X6 M, in its unique design, alludes to
fascinating driving dynamics and the car’s athletic charisma.

The BMW X6 M set new standards in this segment of
high-performance models in terms of acceleration, lateral dynamics,
steering behaviour, stopping power, and efficiency. It accelerates to
100 km/h from a standstill in 4.7 seconds and is
distinguished by its truly impressive delivery of power from the
V8 turbo engine providing maximum torque of
680 Newton-metres in the broad speed range between 1,500 and
5, 650 rpm. It is also stands out through the smooth and
consistent build-up of lateral forces that meet the highest
requirements and the most dynamic level of performance in bends.

Power and performance typical of BMW M is delivered by the new M
TwinPower Turbo engine with Twin Scroll Twin Turbo Technology and the
exhaust manifold extending over both rows of cylinders offering
absolutely extreme response and spontaneity, a linear build-up of
engine power, and an unusually consistent torque curve.

The new M TwinPower Turbo engine develops its outstanding output
and performance with equally outstanding efficiency. In addition to
direct High Precision Injection, the BMW X6 M is
equipped with a wide range of technologies from
BMW EfficientDynamics. The average fuel consumption is 14.3
liters/100 km and the CO2 rating is 335 grams per km. The engine
fulfills EU5 requirement.

The BMW X6 M, together with the new BMW X5 M, is the first
all-wheel-drive models built by BMW M GmbH, a subsidiary of
BMW AG, combining BMW xDrive and Dynamic Performance Control with
all the specific requirements and qualities of a high-performance
vehicle in typical M style. The characteristic highlight is the
outstanding driving dynamics combined with supreme driving stability
and excellent traction. Driving pleasure is further enhanced by a
level of agility unparalleled in this segment and the unusually
neutral steering behaviour.

The tremendous success of the BMW M GmbH began with limited but
carefully planned production expanding on the company’s
background in motor racing.
It was established in 1972 with the
aim to develop high-performance automobiles which are suitable for
everyday road traffic but with the sleek aesthetics and drive and
suspension technology directly inspired by motor racing.
