<pp:caseid>780541</pp:caseid><pp:summary>Fresh updates enhance visual authority and presence.</pp:summary>

  Singapore.
BMW Group Asia announced the availability
of the new BMW X5 and BMW X6, the extensively updated editions of its
successful Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) and Sports Activity Coupé
(SAC) respectively for the luxury segment.

The new BMW X5 and BMW X6 emphasise their inherent poise and
assurance with detailed design revisions and additions to their
standard specification. Also leading the way are the new systems for
driving assistance, automated parking and the fully digital iDrive
control/operation system with BMW Curved Display based on BMW
  Operating System 8.

The update provides the new BMW X5 with everything it needs to
maintain worldwide market leadership in its segment and enable the new
BMW X6 to secure its position as number one ahead of competitors from
other premium German manufacturers. The two models are built at BMW
Group Plant Spartanburg in the USA, the competence centre for BMW X models.

The new BMW X5: slim headlights.

The M Sport design elements as standard give the new BMW X5
significantly greater presence and visual robustness. Its front end is
shaped by the fresh interpretation of the hallmark BMW headlights and
kidney grille. The new headlight units now have a 35-millimetre
slimmer outline. Their arrow-shaped daytime driving light elements
point outwards and also serve as turn signal indicators. Matrix LED
headlights with adaptive control and BMW Selective Beam non-dazzling
  high beam come as standard.

The precisely updated design of the new BMW X5 also spans newly
designed air breathers in the front side panels, vertical air curtains
and lower air intake, complete with decorative trim detail in Black High-gloss.

The sculptural fibre-optic light guide elements for the rear lights
and brake lights now have particularly striking contouring. The L
shape familiar from other BMW models is reflected horizontally,
creating a consistently illuminated X motif within the rear lights.

The new BMW X6: Pitch-perfect athleticism.

The new BMW X6 also has slim headlight units with arrow-shaped
daytime driving light elements. The dynamic character of the new BMW
X6 is highlighted even more intently with the standard M Sport
package. Playing a key role here is the octagonal frontend signature
below the BMW kidney grille, with its striking side apertures and
generous use of black surfaces. In addition, the three-dimensional
sculpting of the front apron underscores the car’s width and brawny stature.

M-specific side skirts and M High-gloss Shadowline trim are also part
of the M Sport package. The rear apron of the SAC has an insert in
Dark Shadow, while the new exhaust tailpipe trims are trapezoidal in shape.

Modern cockpit design with all-digital BMW Curved Display.

Digital technology is the guiding force behind the advances brought
to the interior of the new BMW X5 and BMW X6. The integration of BMW
Operating System 8 and the latest generation of the iDrive
control/operation system also heralds the arrival of the BMW Curved
Display in the Sports Activity Vehicle and Sports Activity Coupé. It
is made up of a 12.3-inch information display behind the steering
wheel and a control display with a screen diagonal of 14.9 inches –
both located behind a single glass surface. The touch control
functionality of the control display has brought about a significant
reduction in the number of buttons and switches in favour of digital
control for numerous functions. The innovative cockpit and associated
updates to the instrument panel bring a particularly progressive feel
  to the modern premium ambience.

Standard specification for both models includes sports seats, an
instrument panel with surfacing in leather-like Sensafin and a curving
trim element in fine wood (BMW X5) or carbon fibre (BMW X6). Another
new feature is the ambient light bar with highly effective LED
backlighting integrated below the trim element in the front passenger
area. The relevant model lettering – “X5” or “X6” – is added to the
light bar’s graphic. The control panel on the centre console includes
additional touch-sensitive surfaces and a newly designed gear selector
lever. The newly designed Travel & Comfort System also comes as standard.

New engine, new eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission and
    systematic electrification.

The new BMW X5 and BMW X6 come as standard with a six-cylinder
in-line petrol engine from the latest generation of power units. The
engine now links up with the likewise new eight-speed Steptronic Sport
transmission, complete with gearshift paddles on the steering wheel.
It sends its power to the road – or indeed unpaved surfaces, as the
need arises – via the BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system.

The drive unit now features 48V mild hybrid technology. This
application of electrification comes in the form of an electric motor
integrated into the transmission. This motor generates an output boost
of up to 9 kW/12 hp and 200 Nm of torque, helping the combustion
engine to deliver a smooth, dynamic drive along with high efficiency.

  Latest-generation six-cylinder in-line petrol engine.

Innovations affecting the combustion process, gas exchange, valve
control, injection and ignition system mark out the latest-generation
3.0-litre six-cylinder in-line petrol engine at work in the new BMW X5
  xDrive40i and BMW X6 xDrive40i.

The new engine develops maximum output increased by 47 hp over the
outgoing model to 381 hp, plus peak torque up by 70 Nm to 520 Nm. This
can be boosted to as much as 540 Nm with the input of the mild hybrid
system. The engine accelerates the new BMW X5 xDrive40i and BMW X6
  xDrive40i from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds.

Sophisticated chassis technology underpins sporting ability
    and long-distance comfort.

The integrated braking system is a key element of the advanced
chassis technology at work here. Standard specification also includes
  21-inch M Y-spoke wheels for the new BMW X5 and 22-inch M V-spoke
wheels for the new BMW X6.

Additional systems for assisted driving and automated parking.

Comfort and safety in the new BMW X5 and BMW X6 can be taken to
another new level with a significantly expanded selection of assisted
driving and automated parking systems. Updates include enhanced
capabilities for the standard front-collision warning system, which
can now also reduce the risk of a collision with cyclists, pedestrians
or oncoming traffic when turning off a road. The standard Driving
Assistant also offers Speed Limit Display with no-overtaking
indicator, Lane Change Warning, Rear Crossing Traffic Warning and Rear
  Collision Prevention.

As well as the Reversing Assist Camera and Reversing Assistant, the
standard Parking Assistant Professional enables automated parking into
and out of spaces and complete manoeuvres over a distance of up to 200
metres to be controlled from outside the car using the My BMW App on
  an Apple iPhone.

Latest-generation BMW iDrive, new digital services.

The latest-generation BMW iDrive tech based on BMW Operating System 8
brings both the BMW Curved Display and an array of new digital
services to the new BMW X5 and BMW X6. The BMW Live Cockpit
Professional includes the cloud-based navigation system.

The BMW Digital Key Plus enables customers to lock and unlock their
new BMW X5 or BMW X6 via security-enhanced ultra-wideband (UWB) radio
technology with compatible smartphones running the iOS or Android
operating system. Optimised smartphone integration and the
personalised BMW ID are also on hand.

The new BMW X5 and BMW X6 are now available for viewing at all
  authorised BMW dealers in Singapore.

The update will provide the BMW X5 with everything it needs to
maintain worldwide market leadership in its segment and enable the
BMW X6 to secure its position as number one ahead of competitors
from other premium German manufacturers. The two models will be
built at BMW Group Plant Spartanburg in the USA, the competence
centre for BMW X models, and their global launch gets underway in
    April 2023.

The new BMW X5: slim headlights, illuminated BMW kidney grille.

The inclusion of the xLine design elements as standard gives the
BMW X5 significantly greater presence and visual robustness. Its
front end is shaped by the fresh interpretation of the hallmark BMW
headlights and kidney grille. The new headlight units now have a
35-millimetre slimmer outline. Their arrow-shaped daytime driving
light elements point outwards and also serve as turn signal
indicators. Matrix LED headlights with adaptive control and BMW
Selective Beam non-dazzling high beam, plus M Shadowline lights, are
    included on the options list.

The BMW kidney Iconic Glow is now offered as an option for the
six-cylinder variants of the new BMW X5, and its cascade lighting
creates an extremely eye-catching and brand-typical look. The
vertical air curtains and the lower air intake, complete with
decorative trim detail in Pearl-effect Chrome and triangular
apertures in its outer areas, also contribute to the cutting-edge aura.

The precisely updated design of the BMW X5 also spans newly
designed air breathers in the front side panels and the standard
inclusion of Exterior Line Satin Aluminium trim and roof rails in
Satin Aluminium. The sculptural fibre-optic light guide elements for
the rear lights and brake lights now have particularly striking
contouring. The L shape familiar from other BMW models is reflected
horizontally, creating a consistently illuminated X motif within the
    rear lights.

The new BMW X6: M Sport package now standard.

The new BMW X6 also has slim headlight units with arrow-shaped
daytime driving light elements. As before, the BMW kidney Iconic
Glow is offered as an option for the six-cylinder models. The
dynamic character of the new BMW X6 is highlighted even more
intently with the now standard M Sport package. Playing a key role
here is the octagonal front-end signature below the BMW kidney
grille, with its striking side apertures and generous use of black
surfaces. In addition, the three-dimensional sculpting of the front
apron underscores the car’s width and brawny stature.

M-specific side skirts and M High-gloss Shadowline trim are also
part of the M Sport package. The rear apron of the SAC has an insert
in Dark Shadow, while the new exhaust tailpipe trims are trapezoidal
    in shape.

Range-topping models with distinctive design features; M
Sport package Pro makes its debut.

The M Sport package is available as an option for the new BMW X5 to
convey the feeling of exclusive dynamism, as it does as standard in
the design of the new BMW X6. These design features take on a
model-specific form for the range-topping BMW X5 M60i xDrive (fuel
    consumption, combined: 12.5 – 11.5 l/100 km [22.6 – 24.6 mpg imp];
    CO2 emissions: 283 – 261 g/km in the WLTP cycle) and
    BMW X6 M60i xDrive (fuel consumption, combined: 12.3 – 11.4 l/
    100 km [23.0 – 24.8 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions:
279 – 258 g/km in the WLTP cycle). They include double bars and an
M logo for the BMW kidney grille, M exterior mirror caps in Black
high-gloss, exhaust system tailpipe trim in the hallmark M quad-pipe
style and a rear spoiler in Black high-gloss for the BMW X6 M60i xDrive.

All model variants are now available with the M Sport package Pro.
The new M Marina Bay Blue metallic (BMW X5 M60i xDrive) and M Isle
of Man Green metallic (BMW X6 M60i xDrive) body paint finishes are
available exclusively for the range-topping models. New additions
for all models are Blue Ridge Mountain metallic, Brooklyn Grey
metallic, Skyscraper Grey metallic, Frozen Pure Grey metallic and
around 40 BMW Individual special paint finishes.

Modern cockpit design with all-digital BMW Curved Display.

Digital technology is the guiding force behind the advances brought
to the interior of the new BMW X5 and new BMW X6. The integration of
BMW Operating System 8 and the latest generation of the iDrive
control/operation system also heralds the arrival of the BMW Curved
Display in the Sports Activity Vehicle and Sports Activity Coupé. It
is made up of a 12.3-inch information display behind the steering
wheel and a control display with a screen diagonal of 14.9 inches –
both located behind a single glass surface. The touch control
functionality of the control display has brought about a significant
reduction in the number of buttons and switches in favour of digital
control for numerous functions. The innovative cockpit and
associated updates to the instrument panel bring a particularly
progressive feel to the modern premium ambience.

Standard specification for both models now includes an instrument
panel with surfacing in leather-like Sensafin and an elegantly
curving trim element in fine wood. Another new feature is the
ambient light bar with highly effective LED backlighting integrated
below the trim element in the front passenger area. The relevant
model lettering – “X5” or “X6” – is added to the light bar’s
graphic; in the two flagship models it displays the M logo. The
control panel on the centre console includes additional
touch-sensitive surfaces and a newly designed gear selector lever.

Comfort seats for the driver and front passenger can be specified
as an alternative to the standard sport seats with Sensafin
surfaces. Also available as an option are BMW Individual Merino
extended leather upholstery, BMW Individual full Merino leather
upholstery, active seat ventilation and a massage function.

Among the other highlights of the options list are the new Comfort
Package with panel heating and a “thermo” function for the cup
holders, the Sky Lounge panoramic glass sunroof illuminated by LED
units, glass applications for selected controls, the Bowers &
Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System and the newly designed Travel
    & Comfort System.

New engines, new eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission
      and systematic electrification.

The new BMW X5 and new BMW X6 can both be ordered with the choice
    of an eight-cylinder petrol engine, a six-cylinder in-line petrol
and a six-cylinder in-line diesel engine – each from the latest
generation of power units. All of the engines now link up with the
likewise new eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission, complete
with gearshift paddles on the steering wheel. They send their power
to the road – or indeed unpaved surfaces, as the need arises – via
the BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system.

All the drive units now feature 48V mild hybrid technology. This
across-the-board application of electrification comes in the form of
an electric motor integrated into the transmission. This motor
generates an output boost of up to 9 kW/12 hp and 200 Nm (147 lb-ft)
of torque, helping the combustion engine to deliver a smooth,
dynamic drive along with high efficiency.

New plug-in hybrid BMW X5 xDrive50e offers more power,
      efficiency and electric range.

The drive system for the plug-in hybrid variant of the SAV has also
been completely reworked, and the updated model carries the
    designation BMW X5 xDrive50e. A latest-generation six-cylinder
in-line petrol engine and a similarly new electric motor team up to
develop system output of 360 kW/490 hp (including temporary boost
effect) – an increase of 70 kW/96 hp over the outgoing model – and
combined torque of 700 Nm (516 lb-ft), which is a rise of 100 Nm
    (74 lb-ft). The petrol engine’s nominal output of 230 kW/313 hp
represents an increase of 20 kW/27 hp on the unit it replaces. The
compact electric motor integrated into the eight-speed Steptronic
Sport transmission produces a nominal output of 145 kW/197 hp
(+62 kW/84 hp). In addition, an innovative pre-gearing stage – used
to increase the effective torque produced by the electric motor to a
maximum 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) at the transmission input for the motor –
helps to provide even sharper power delivery. The BMW X5 xDrive50e
accelerates from rest to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.8 seconds.

The amount of usable energy that can be stored by the high-voltage
battery integrated into the underbody area has been increased by
almost 25 per cent over the preceding generation, to 25.7 kWh. A new
Combined Charging Unit doubles the maximum AC charging rate to
7.4 kW. The electric range of the new BMW X5 xDrive50e is 94 –
110 kilometres (58 – 68 miles) in the WLTP cycle.

New V8 petrol engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology.

Credit for the elite sporting prowess of the two range-topping
models goes to a new 4.4-litre V8 petrol engine, derived from the
power units in high-performance models from BMW M GmbH. M TwinPower
Turbo technology and a cross-bank exhaust manifold imbue the
390 kW/530 hp engine, which generates peak torque of 750 Nm (553
lb-ft), with impressively accomplished performance characteristics.

The latest version of the eight-cylinder engine powers both the new
    BMW X5 M60i xDrive and new BMW X6 M60i xDrive from 0 to 100 km/h (62
    mph) in 4.3 seconds.

    Latest-generation six-cylinder in-line petrol engine.

Innovations affecting the combustion process, gas exchange, valve
control, injection and ignition system mark out the
    latest-generation
3.0-litre six-cylinder in-line petrol engine
at work in the new BMW X5 xDrive40i (fuel consumption, combined:
    9.9 – 8.5 l/100 km [28.5 – 33.2 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions:
    224 – 193 g/km in the WLTP cycle) and new BMW X6 xDrive40i (fuel

    imp]; CO2 emissions:
218 – 192 g/km in the WLTP cycle).

The new engine develops maximum output increased by 35 kW/47 hp
over the outgoing models to 280 kW/380 hp, plus peak torque up by
70 Nm (52 lb-ft) to 520 Nm (383 lb-ft). This can be boosted to as
much as 540 Nm (398 lb-ft) with the input of the mild hybrid system.
The engine accelerates both the new BMW X5 xDrive40i and new
    BMW X6 xDrive40i from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.4 seconds.

Six-cylinder in-line diesel engine with detail improvements.

The six-cylinder in-line diesel engine in the new BMW X5 xDrive30d
    (fuel consumption, combined: 8.2 – 7.1 l/100 km [34.5 – 39.8 mpg
    imp]; CO2 emissions: 215 – 186 g/km in the WLTP cycle)
    and new BMW X6 xDrive30d (fuel consumption, combined: 7.9 – 7.0
    l/100 km [35.8 – 40.4 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions:
208 – 184 g/km in the WLTP cycle) also brings upgrades to numerous
details. The 3.0-litre unit now has steel pistons instead of
aluminium items, an optimised oil separation process and a new
common-rail direct injection system with solenoid valve injectors.

The new diesel engine joins forces with the mild hybrid system to
produce maximum output of 219 kW/298 hp and peak torque of 670 Nm
(494 lb-ft). This enables both the new BMW X5 xDrive30d and new
    BMW X6 xDrive30d to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.1 seconds.

Sophisticated chassis technology underpins sporting ability
      and long-distance comfort.

Fitting adaptive suspension as standard, modifying the anti-roll
bars in response to changes in weight distribution and strengthening
them accordingly gives the new BMW X5 and new BMW X6 their signature
blend of sporting versatility and excellent long-distance comfort.
Adaptive M suspension, which comes as standard on both the
range-topping models as well as the other variants of the new

Singapore. BMW M GmbH is unveiling the third
generation of its high-performance executive-class Sports Activity
Vehicle (SAV) and Sports Activity Coupe (SAC) models. BMW Asia and
Performance Munich Autos today announced the launch of the first-ever
BMW X5 M Competition and BMW X6 M Competition – these two models
deliver handling agility, dynamism, and precision unmatched in their
class. Their superior performance attributes combine with the
versatility, extrovert design, and modern luxury of which BMW X models
  are renowned.

A V8 engine developing 625 hp, an M-specific chassis that has been
tailored to both the engine’s performance profile and the SAV / SAC
vehicle concept, as well as design features taken from the M playbook
ensure imposing power and supremely controllable handling, even at the
dynamic limits. The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h is dispatched in a mere
  3.8 seconds for both models – the first-ever BMW X5 M Competition
clocks the 0 to 200 km/h sprint in 13.4 seconds, and the first-ever
BMW X6 M Competition stops the clock at 13.2 seconds for the same
sprint. Both models have an electronically limited top speed of 250
km/h. The intoxicating all-round performance package benefits from
fine-tuning carried out during intensive testing at the BMW Group’s
proving grounds, the Nürburgring-Nordschleife and other race tracks.

Significant power hike: high-revving V8 engine with M
TwinPower Turbo technology developing 625 hp.

M TwinPower Turbo technology and the appetite for revs shared by all
M models give the latest-generation V8 engine fitted in the first-ever
BMW X5 M Competition and BMW X6 M Competition an unmistakable
performance profile. Its headline character traits are instant
response to the slightest movement of the accelerator, precisely
controllable power delivery, and a linear wave of power into the upper
echelons of the rev range under full throttle.

The 4.4-litre engine teams up with two turbochargers – positioned in
the “V” between the cylinder banks – whose impact is further enhanced
by a cross-bank exhaust manifold. Torque peaks at 750 Nm between 1,800
and 5,800 rpm, while the maximum output of 625 hp arrives at 3,000
rpm. The power unit’s firm connection to the vehicle’s structure
results in remarkably instantaneous engine response and direct
transmission of its power to the drivetrain. A super-stiff engine
mounting results also makes the car sharper on turn-in while dampening
the transmission of engine noise to the cabin. The M Sport exhaust
system captures all of the engine’s free-revving eagerness and
propulsive power to thrilling effect, generating a soundtrack of
  particular emotional richness.

Precise power transfer: eight-speed M Steptronic transmission
with Drivelogic, M xDrive and Active M Differential.

The high-performance engine in the two Competition models teams up
with the latest version of the eight-speed M Steptronic transmission
with Drivelogic, whose gearshift characteristics can be adjusted using
the Drivelogic button on the M-specific selector lever. The driver may
also opt to use the M shift paddles on the steering wheel for manual
control over the gear selection process.

The M xDrive all-wheel-drive system with bespoke tuning and the
Active M Differential at the rear axle have been specially tuned to
transfer drive to the road with characteristic élan. The two systems
thus optimise traction, agility, and handling stability when the cars’
sporting capabilities are put to the test in all terrains. In the
default 4WD setting, the M xDrive displays a conspicuous rear-wheel
bias – it only brings the front axle into play when the rear wheels
aren’t able to transmit any more power to the road, and additional
tractive force is required. However, the driver can also dip into the
Setup menu to select 4WD Sport mode to bring extra intensity to the
driving experience, in which an even greater proportion of the
engine’s torque is directed to the rear wheels.

  M-specific chassis, integrated braking system.

Pulse-quickening on-road dynamism and unsurpassed ground-covering
ability over off-road terrain set the tone for the new
high-performance additions to the SAV and SAC segments. The first-ever
BMW X5 M Competition and BMW X6 M Competition are fitted with
extensive measures to optimise the stiffness of the body structure and
suspension mountings. The model-specific design and tuning of the
chassis technology also helps enhance handling precision. Standard
specification includes the adaptive M suspension system with
electronically controlled dampers, the active roll stabilisation
system, and M Servotronic steering. The stiff suspension mountings on
both models enable damper control to be extremely precise. The
electric swivel motors on the active roll stabilization system have a
high adjustment torque, enabling extremely direct damper response when
absorbing bumps on the road surface or taming body roll.

M compound brakes offer outstanding stopping power combined with
supreme feel and excellent comfort. The version of the integrated
braking system developed for BMW M models presents the driver with two
settings for brake pedal feel – COMFORT mode allows for
comfort-oriented feedback, while SPORT mode makes for an extremely
  direct, instantaneous response.

Extrovert design, variable-use interior, luxurious ambience.

The shared racing focus of the first-ever BMW X5 M Competition and
BMW X6 M Competition models is emphasised by their striking exterior
designs. The combination of typical SAV / SAC proportions with
signature M design features lends the first-ever BMW X5 M Competition
and BMW X6 M Competition an extrovert appearance exuding supreme
  authority in any environment.

Large air intakes, M gills on the front side panels, aerodynamically
optimised exterior mirrors, a roof / rear spoiler, a rear apron with
diffuser elements and the two pairs of exhaust tailpipes lay the
technical platform required to deliver standout performance. The
Competition models come with distinctive design highlights, among them
the BMW Laserlights feature, as well as exclusive M light-alloy wheels
in 21-inch format at the front axle and 22-inch at the rear
  (first-ever BMW X5 M Competition: Star-spoke style 809 M Bicolour,
  first-ever BMW X6 M Competition: Star-spoke style 818 M Bicolour). The
different rim diameters also combine with mixed tyres to optimise
transmission of lateral control forces through dynamically taken corners.

Inside the high-performance models, abundant space, top-class
materials, and build quality radiating precise craftsmanship create a
luxurious ambience. The classy, contemporary style of the cabin is
complemented by displays and controls with the familiar M treatment –
the bespoke M controls, and the red splashes of colour adorning the M
leather steering wheel’s M buttons plus the Start/Stop button on the
centre console help the driver to dial fully into the dynamic driving
experience. The restyled selector is trimmed in leather with an
embossed M logo and stitching in M GmbH colours, and includes the
Drivelogic switch. It also incorporates an eye-catching cut-out
accentuated by the integral ambient lighting.

Both models feature a fine-grain Merino full leather trim with
M-specific hexagonal quilting – this is also used for the door trim
panels, the lower section of the instrument panel, the front seat
backs, the door panelling, and the door pockets in leather too. A BMW
Individual headliner in Alcantara anthracite is also available as
standard. The luxurious interior ambience is further continued with
features such as the soft-close function, as well as a Harmon Kardon
sound system fitted as standard on the Competition models.

Operating system creates intense M feeling; exclusive standard
    equipment.

A Setup button on the centre console enables direct access to the
settings for the engine, dampers, steering, M xDrive and braking
system. Two individually composed variants of this M setup can be
stored and called up at any time by pressing one of the two red M
buttons on the steering wheel. Added to which, the information shown
in the instrument cluster and Head-Up Display and the functionality of
the driver assistance systems can both be varied using the M Mode
  button on the centre console.

In addition to ROAD and SPORT settings, the first-ever BMW X5 M
Competition and BMW X6 M Competition feature a TRACK setting designed
exclusively for use on race circuits. Switching to SPORT or TRACK mode
reduces the amount of information appearing in the displays. In
addition, the safety-enhancing interventions initiated by the driver
assistance systems – such as active braking or steering inputs – are
reduced to a bare minimum or deactivated altogether. The exclusive
selection of equipment fitted as standard includes the BMW Head-Up
Display with M-specific readouts, M multifunction seats for the driver
and front passenger, and the BMW Display Key. Both models also come
with the BMW Live Cockpit Professional with navigation system and the
BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant as standard.

The Driving Assistant Professional package provides the best in
comfort and safety with features such as the Steering and lane control
assistant, the Lane Keeping Assistant with active side collision
protection, the Lane Change Assistant, the Evasion Assistant, the
Emergency Stop Assistant and the Crossroads warning, Wrong-way warning
and Front Cross Traffic Alert systems. The standard-fit Parking
Assistant Plus comes to the driver’s aid when selecting and
manoeuvring into parking spaces – in addition, the system includes
Active Park Distance Control and camera system allowing for the Top
View, Panorama View, 3D Top View and Remote 3D View functions. The
Reversing Assistant also forms part of standard equipment.

The first-ever BMW X5 M Competition and BMW X6 M Competition are now
available for viewing at the Performance Munich Autos showroom.

Singapore. BMW Asia and Performance Munich Autos
today announced the availability of the new BMW X5 M50i. The flagship
of the BMW X5 range exudes a supreme presence with concentrated power
generated by the new 8-cylinder petrol engine. The engine is based on
BMW TwinPower Turbo technology and produces a maximum output of 530
hp. More than ever before, this new top-flight engine underlines the
sporty nature of the latest generation of the original Sports Activity
Vehicle (SAV) – and the first BMW X model in the luxury segment. The
new BMW X5 M50i combines the V8 engine with the intelligent BMW xDrive
all-wheel drive system and a model-specific suspension technology,
developed with expertise from BMW M GmbH.

New V8 engine with outstanding power and characteristic sound.

The 4.4 litre drive unit of the new BMW X5 M50i emphasises the
characteristic features of the 8-cylinder engines in terms of power
development and torque to an outstanding degree. The new V8 engine
turns in a very impressive level of performance – whether you prefer
cruising calmly and confidently at low engine speeds, or pulling out
all the performance stops and laying down some sporty acceleration
manoeuvres. Several components have been upgraded since the previous
engine version; these include the crankcase, cylinder barrels,
pistons, crankshaft and cylinder head – and above all, the freshly
updated BMW TwinPower Turbo technology. The turbochargers positioned
between the cylinder banks in the V compartment have been enlarged,
while the direct petrol injection performs at a new maximum pressure
level of 350 bar. The technology package also includes the newest
versions of the fully variable VALVETRONIC valve control and variable
  double VANOS camshaft control.

The new V8 engine responds with great sensitivity to every movement
of the accelerator pedal. The engine already generates its maximum
torque of 750 Nm at 1,800 rpm – and it remains available up to an
engine speed of 4,600 rpm. Accordingly, the power output is as
strident as you would expect it to be. The maximum value of 530 hp is
activated between 5,500 and 6,000 rpm. As a result, the new BMW X5
M50i is able to complete the sprint from zero to 100 km/h in only 4.3 seconds.

This supreme power development is accompanied by an impressive sound
progression that is generated by the standard M sport exhaust system.
Using the driving experience control, the driver can choose between an
extremely sporty or a more comfort-oriented mode. The sheer bandwidth
of the engine’s character then becomes all the more obvious. In the
SPORT and SPORT PLUS modes, not only is the characteristic curve of
the accelerator pedal configured for a dynamic driving style, but the
power development and remarkable sound characteristics of the V8
  engine are too.

8-speed Steptronic sports transmission, BMW xDrive and M
    sports differential for thrilling performance.

The performance features of the thoroughly sports-oriented BMW X5
M50i are supported by the rather specific nature of the power
transmission. The new V8 engine is combined as standard with an
8-speed Steptronic sports transmission, characterised by highly
dynamic gear shift properties. Shift paddles are mounted near the
steering wheel for manual control of the choice of gear, while the
Launch Control function enables traction-optimised acceleration with
  maximum dynamic performance from standing.

The latest version of the BMW xDrive system distributes the engine
torque between the front and rear wheels in a manner that enables it
to adapt quickly and precisely to the road conditions. The intelligent
all-wheel drive system increases the agility and supreme traction of
the new BMW X5 M50i as much as it enhances the driving stability in
all weather and road conditions. These sporty characteristics are also
supported in highly dynamic driving situations by the rear-wheel
emphasis of the system’s design. In addition, the standard equipment
of the new BMW X5 M50i also includes an M sports differential. The
electronically controlled differential lock in the rear bevel gears
limits the rotational speed balancing between the wheel on the
innermost side of a bend and that on the outermost side and enables
highly dynamic acceleration when exiting a bend. Finally, the M sports
differential is interconnected with the DSC (Dynamic Stability
Control), thereby optimising traction and power transmission when
driving on loose terrain and when different road friction values exist
between the right and left rear wheels. This serves to prevent wheel
spinning arising due to insufficient grip, with the torque being
  redirected to the other wheel.

Model-specific suspension technology for a superior drive.

The model-specific suspension of the new BMW X5 M50i has been
painstakingly tuned to extract maximum potential from the outstanding
drive design based on the know-how of BMW M GmbH. This employs a
construction principle comprising a double-wishbone front axle and a
five-link rear axle combined with specific kinematics and
elastokinematics for the wheel suspension, independent suspension and
damping settings, and 22-inch M light alloy wheels in Double-spoke
style 742 M complete with mixed tyres. The standard equipment also
includes electromechanical steering with Servotronic function and an M
sport brake system with blue-coated brake calipers complete with the M logo.

The new BMW X5 M50i is equipped with the Adaptive M Suspension
Professional package as standard. One of two sets of characteristics
can be selected for the electronically controlled dampers, which can
be activated using the driving experience switches, comprising COMFORT
and SPORT modes. In the SPORT driving mode, as well as at speeds of
over 138 km/h, this automatically results in a reduced ride height of
20 millimetres. However, the driver is also able to adjust the height
of the body by activating a button in the cockpit; two levels are
available, raising the height up to 40 millimetres above the standard setting.

Integral active steering is available for the new BMW X5 M50i, which
serves to further enhance the vehicle’s agility. It also results in
enhanced superiority when it comes to lane changing and
manoeuvrability in urban traffic, by co-steering the rear wheels
either in the same or in the opposite direction, depending on the
driving speed. A further increase in superiority and dynamics of the
drive characteristics is produced by the integral active steering, the
active electronic anti roll stabilizers, which ensures very fast and
precise balancing of lateral roll forces during dynamic cornering, by
means of electric swivel motors fitted to the front and rear axles.

Driving Assistant Professional: the complete package for
    comfortable and safe driving.

The standard Driving Assistant Professional package comprises of the
Steering and lane control assistant as well as the Lane Keeping
Assistant with active side collision protection. The Lane Change
Assistant can be used on motorways and dual carriageways when the
Steering and lane control assistant is active. Holding the direction
indicator in the required direction is all it takes to initiate a lane
change. If the sensors detect that there is space in the adjacent lane
and that no other vehicle is approaching at high speed, the driver
benefits from helpful steering assistance during the lane change.
Another component of the system is the evasion aid, which can help
avoid collisions with vehicles or pedestrians suddenly appearing in
the driver’s path. As soon as an evasive manoeuvre corresponding to
such a scenario is detected, the system assists the driver with
steering inputs to direct the vehicle into a clear adjacent lane.

The array of assistance systems contained in this wide-ranging suite
of safety and comfort features also comprises of Crossing traffic
warning, which reduces the risk of a collision when manoeuvring
forwards or in reverse towards crossing traffic where visibility is
restricted. Rear Collision warning, Priority warning, Wrong-way
warning and Lane Change Warning are also part of the Driving Assistant
Professional package. The latest version of Lane Departure Warning now
includes active steering inputs to bring the vehicle back to the
  intended lane.

Design and equipment: exclusive appearance with a luxurious atmosphere.

Model-specific designer features serve to emphasise the exclusive and
sporty nature of the new BMW X5 M50i the moment you see it. The
extra-large air inlets in the front apron are a clear indication of
the V8 engine’s cooling requirements. The unique design of the side
sills and rear apron, the BMW individual high-gloss Shadow Line, and
selected design elements in Cerium Grey similarly serve to underline
the outstanding status of the 8-cylinder models.

The SAV’s interior features an M leather upholstery with contrast
stitching and perforated surfaces and interior strips in Aluminium
Tetragon, ensuring a luxurious feel with a sporty touch. And as if
that wasn’t enough, the standard equipment also comprises illuminated
entry sills displaying the ’M50i’ logo, a headliner in Anthracite and
a Harmon Kardon surround sound system.

The new BMW X5 M50i is now available for viewing at the Performance
  Munich Autos showroom.

Singapore. BMW Asia and Performance Motors today
  launched the all-new BMW X5, a car with eye-catching off-road
attributes and assured performance on rough ground combined with the
premium characteristics and signature dynamics of a BMW: this was the
blueprint with which BMW launched the all-new Sports Activity Vehicle
(SAV) category almost 20 years ago. The first example of the breed was
the BMW X5, making it the founding father of the BMW X model family
and the market leader in the premium all-wheel drive segment – a
status it maintains to this day.

More than 2.2 million examples of the BMW X5 have been sold across
its three model generations. And the new car puts down another marker
in terms of design and technology. The all-new BMW X5 will again be
built at BMW Plant Spartanburg in the US state of South Carolina. This
centre of expertise for BMW X models also handles production of the
BMW X3, BMW X4, BMW X6 – and will soon add the BMW X7 to its roster as well.

New design language exudes robust assurance and authority.

A wheelbase 42 mm longer than its predecessor’s (now
2,975 millimetres), a 36 mm increase in vehicle length (to
4,922 millimetres), an extra 66 mm of width (now 2,004 millimetres)
and a 19 mm increase in height (to 1,745 millimetres) give the all-new
BMW X5 both an imposing appearance and generous levels of space for
passengers and their luggage. The latest X5 retains the hallmark
proportions of an SAV, but the pared-back design language – clean
surfacing and precise lines accentuating the car’s robustness, elegant
poise and muscular authority – is new. A powerfully sculpted bonnet, a
short front overhang, lightly hexagonal wheel arches and the dynamic
sweep of the roofline provide further references to the sporty yet
rugged character of the all-new X5.

The most striking feature of the front end is the large BMW kidney
grille with single-piece surround. The all-new BMW X5 comes as
standard with LED headlights, while BMW Laserlight can be specified as
an option. This optional system employs a BMW Laserlight spotlight
with Selective Beam to optimise the high beam function, and as a
result the range of the non-dazzling high beam has been increased to
around 500 metres. Blue x-shaped elements, which split up the
hexagonal light sources inside the familiar BMW twin headlights, make
  a distinctive visual statement.

The precise character line in the car’s flanks, which rises up at the
rear door, contributes to the modern appearance of the all-new BMW X5.
It defines the car’s powerful shoulders and feeds into the rear
lights, which extend well into the flanks. At the rear, too, all the
lights feature LED technology. The three-dimensional design of their
glass covers lends them a sculpted, technical edge. Diagonal accent
lines give the rear a compact and brawny appearance.

xLine model variant, options from BMW Individual.

Distinctive design features mark out the xLine model variant of the
all-new BMW X5. The xLine model uses exterior cues including kidney
grill bars in aluminium matt, an underguard, roof rails and side
window surrounds in Aluminium satinated, plus other accents in
Pearl-effect Chrome, to accentuate the off-road character of the
all-new BMW X5. The car comes as standard with 20-inch light-alloy
wheels in V-spoke style. The M Sport model variant will be optionally
available and displayed at the Singapore Motorshow 2019.

The all-new BMW X5 will also be available from launch with
model-specific options from BMW Individual. Indeed, customers looking
to bring extra exclusivity to the exterior design of their car can
specify the BMW Individual paint finish Sunstone metallic, extended
BMW Individual high-gloss Shadow Line, tinted headlights and rear
lights, painted BMW Individual brake callipers and 22-inch BMW
  Individual light-alloy wheels.

  Interior and equipment

Modern, clearly structured and elegant surfacing radiates a generous
feeling of space inside the all-new BMW X5. Indeed, the front and rear
occupants all enjoy ample accommodation amid an exclusive ambience.
The instrument panel is broken up by sweeping horizontal lines, which
combine with classy electroplated trim elements to emphasize the width
of the interior. And with its large trim finisher and surrounds
likewise made up of electroplated elements, the centre console –
rising up to the instrument panel – also contributes to the handsome
  overall impression.

The raised seating position, driver-focused cockpit and new design
and arrangement of the controls offer the person at the wheel the best
possible view of proceedings and enable him or her to maintain supreme
control over the task of driving. The fully-digital instrument cluster
and the Control Display are connected visually by consistency of
design and also share the same graphics. The centre console hosts the
Controller, the newly designed transmission selector lever and all
other driving-related controls – i.e. the Driving Experience Control
switch, the start/stop button and the buttons to activate the air
suspension settings and off-road modes (if specified). A similarly
new-look control panel for the heating and air conditioning is also on
hand, and the light functions in the all-new BMW X5 are likewise
  operated using buttons.

The carefully selected materials in the interior include the new
Vernasca variant for the standard leather upholstery. Like the
optional BMW Individual extended Merino leather trim, it is available
in five colours. The all-new BMW X5 is fitted as standard with
electrically adjustable sports seats. Customers can also specify
optional multifunction seats with massage function and seat
ventilation for the driver and front passenger.

xLine model with distinctive interior design.

The xLine model also comes with specific design features that bring a
distinctive flair to the interior. The interior appointments for the
xLine model accentuate the car’s robust versatility and luxurious
ambience. These include contrast stitching for the seat surfaces and
  illuminated door sill plates.

Innovations conceived to promote well-being and enhance luxury.

Other new features designed to maximise the feel-good factor and
luxurious ambience on board the all-new BMW X5 include the standard
four-zone air conditioning system and the optional panoramic glass
roof, whose clear surface is 30 per cent larger than on the outgoing
car. The optional Panorama glass roof Sky Lounge, meanwhile, generates
a very special and exclusive aura when darkness falls, with LED light
spreading evenly across the glass surface to illuminate more than
15,000 graphic patterns and generate a display reminiscent of a
starlit sky. The colour scheme of this atmospheric light show can be
adapted as desired. The standard ambient lighting includes the Welcome
Light Carpet – which illuminates the entry area to the car when the
doors are unlocked or opened – and Dynamic Interior Light, which emits
pulsating light signals in pre-defined situations: they are activated
in the lining of a door or doors opened while the engine is running
and in the instrument panel when a phone call is incoming.

The optional Ambient Air package enables air ionisation and infuses
the interior with eight individually selectable scents. A luxurious
audio experience is laid on by the Harman Kardon surround sound system
that comes with a digital amplifier with individually adjustable
equalising, 464 W amplifier power, 9 channels and speaker bezels with
Harman Kardon designation. The optional Rear-seat entertainment
Professional system comprises of a pair of 10.2-inch full-HD
touchscreen displays, a Blu-ray-compatible DVD player, two USB ports,
an HDMI socket and two headphone jacks. The system is part of the new
display and control concept and allows those in the rear of the
vehicle to select and operate entertainment functions. The rear-seat
passengers can use both their own media sources and those available in
the front compartment. A navigation map and BMW ConnectedDrive
services can also be accessed in the rear seats.

The all-new BMW X5 can now also be specified with thermo-cupholders
foremost in the centre console; the containers here can be kept cool
or warm, as required. Elsewhere, the optional glass applications for
selected controls bring an all-new flourish to the interior of the
all-new BMW X5. This exclusive design feature has been developed for
the transmission selector lever, the Controller, the start/stop button
and the volume control button for the audio system.

Versatile functionality: two-section tailgate, third row of seats.

As well as increased levels of comfort and exclusivity, the all-new
BMW X5 now also offers enhanced functionality. Folding down the
  40 : 20 : 40 split rear seat backrest increases boot capacity from 645
litres to a maximum 1,860 litres. The all-new BMW X5 also has a
two-section tailgate for ease of loading. With the standard Comfort
Access feature, both sections can be opened and closed automatically
and hands-free. Added to which, the boot cover now lowers electrically
  into the load compartment floor.

With the third row of seats (expected availability: Q2 2019),
customers may also order the rear seats with electric fore-and-aft
adjustment. A control panel in the boot can be used to slide the
second-row seats forwards or backwards and fold down the backrests of
the second and third rows. Plus, the second-row seats can be tilted
forward electrically to ease progress into and out of the two
  third-row seats.

  Powertrain and driving experience

The all-new BMW X5 is being launched with a one petrol representative
from the latest generation of engines. A six-cylinder in-line unit is
found under the bonnet of the all-new BMW X5 xDrive40i. The engine
channels its power through an eight-speed Steptronic transmission,
while BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive is on hand to ensure that
power is translated into secure progression – on or off road.

The BMW TwinPower Turbo technology package for the petrol engine
comprises of a turbocharger, High Precision Injection, VALVETRONIC
fully variable valve timing and Double-VANOS variable camshaft timing.

Straight-six petrol engine with an inimitable thirst for revs.

The power unit fitted in the all-new BMW X5 xDrive40i boasts the
free-revving ability inherent in all six-cylinder in-line engines from
BMW, plus wonderfully eager response. The 3.0-litre unit employs a
twin-scroll turbocharger and direct petrol injection technology whose
maximum pressure of 350 bar ensures the fuel is delivered in extremely
precise doses. The straight-six generates its maximum output of 340 hp
between 5,500 and 6,500 rpm, while the peak torque of 450 Nm is
waiting to be unleashed from 1,500 – 5,200 rpm. The all-new
  BMW X5 xDrive40i completes the 0 to 100 km/h sprint in just 5.5 seconds.

Eight-speed Steptronic transmission with sportier shift characteristics.

The engine of the all-new BMW X5 links up with a new, improved
version of the eight-speed Steptronic transmission, whose wider ratio
spread and new control electronics help to increase the powertrain’s
overall efficiency. New torsion dampers reduce rotational
irregularities and converter slip for superior shift comfort. And
optimised hydraulic control enables even sportier gear shifts.

Optimum power distribution courtesy of efficiency-enhanced
xDrive all-wheel drive and an electronically controlled rear
    differential lock.

The task of maximising traction, agility and directional stability in
the all-new BMW X5 falls to the latest generation of the BMW xDrive
intelligent all-wheel-drive system, which is able to split drive
torque between the front and rear wheels with even greater precision
and speed, as the situation demands. For added efficiency, full power
can be directed to the rear wheels only in situations where all-wheel
drive is surplus to requirements. The new xDrive system also offers a
rear-biased set-up for those occasions when the driver adopts a
particularly dynamic style at the wheel.

New chassis systems enhance off-road ability, sportiness and comfort.

The design principle underpinning the chassis – based on a
double-wishbone front axle and a five-link rear axle – also ticks all
the right boxes for supreme traction on rough terrain, coupled with
excellent dynamic responses and ride comfort in road driving. The SAV
now comes as standard with the Dynamic Damper Control system, whose
electronically controlled dampers sharpen the car’s handling dynamics
at the same time as increasing ride and suspension comfort. The driver
can select from two performance maps – for a more comfort-oriented or
sportier driving style – using the Driving Experience Control switch.

An array of chassis systems available in a BMW X model for the first
time make it possible to boost the off-road performance, sportiness or
comfort of the all-new BMW X5 more intensely and effectively than ever
before. The optional Integral Active Steering endows the car with
exceptionally agile and dynamic driving qualities.

Integral Active Steering (likewise available as an individual option)
is also operated electromechanically. By turning the rear wheels in
either the same direction as the front wheels or the opposite
direction – depending on the vehicle speed – it optimises cornering
agility, ensures effortless lane changes and helps the vehicle to dart
through city traffic. Integral Active Steering therefore makes light
work of manoeuvring into and out of tight parking spots, while also
increasing stability when overtaking at motorway speeds.

The two-axle air suspension system with automatic self-levelling will
be welcomed by anyone seeking greater ride comfort. The suspension’s
air supply is controlled individually for each wheel using an
electrically driven compressor with pressure reservoir, enabling it to
balance out an unevenly loaded vehicle. Since the air suspension works
in tandem with the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) system, the vehicle
load registered by its sensors can be factored into braking calculations.

When the SPORT driving mode is engaged or the vehicle’s speed exceeds
138 km/h, its ride height is automatically lowered by 20 millimetres.
The driver can also adjust the body’s ground clearance – for off-road
driving, for example – by pushing a button in the cockpit. It can be
raised in two stages to a maximum of 40 millimetres above the standard
setting. Another button in the luggage compartment activates a loading
mode that lowers the vehicle by 40 millimetres. The next time the
engine is started, the system will automatically revert to the last
mode selected. The desired vehicle ride height can even be set with
the engine switched off. The optional BMW Display Key can also be used
  to access this function.

Customers can also specify an Off-Road package, which is being
offered here in a BMW X model for the first time. The package’s
specification includes rugged underguard elements at the front and
rear of the vehicle, along with the two-axle air suspension and
electronically controlled rear differential lock. The Off-Road package
also features its own special graphics in the instrument cluster and
Control Display, and an extra button on the centre console for
selecting the four driving modes. The driver can therefore activate
the ideal settings for the vehicle’s ride height, the xDrive system,
the accelerator response, the transmission control, and the DSC
system’s corrective inputs in preparation for driving on a range of
surfaces, such as sand, rock, gravel or snow.

  Driver assistance systems

Offering a significantly expanded array of driver assistance systems
compared with its immediate predecessor, the all-new BMW X5 clearly
demonstrates its commitment to taking comfort and safety to new
heights. By processing camera images and data acquired by radar
sensors, the new systems enable even more comprehensive support for
the driver in a variety of situations. As components of the BMW
Personal CoPilot, they represent new milestones on the road to
  automated driving.

The standard equipment of the all-new BMW X5 includes Cruise Control
with braking function and the Collision Warning and Pedestrian Warning
with City Braking function, which now also alerts the driver when
cyclists are detected. The optional Active Cruise Control (ACC) with
Stop & Go function is capable of braking the vehicle to a
standstill and sending it on its way again automatically. For greater
convenience in stop-start traffic, the period between stopping and
automatically moving off has been extended to up to 30 seconds. And
speed restrictions identified by the Speed Limit Info system with No
Passing Info display can be incorporated into the automatic cruise
control system with variations of up to 15 km/h.

Comprehensive safety and comfort package: Driving Assistant Professional.

Available as an option, the Driving Assistant Professional package
comprises of the Steering and lane control assistant as well as the
Lane Keeping Assistant with active side collision protection. The Lane
Change Assistant can be used on motorways and dual carriageways when
the Steering and lane control assistant is active. Holding the
direction indicator in the required direction is all it takes to
initiate a lane change. If the sensors detect that there is space in
the adjacent lane and that no other vehicle is approaching at high
speed, the driver benefits from helpful steering assistance during the
lane change. Another component of the system is the evasion aid, which
can help avoid collisions with vehicles or pedestrians suddenly
appearing in the driver’s path. As soon as an evasive manoeuvre
corresponding to such a scenario is detected, the system assists the
driver with steering inputs to direct the vehicle into a clear
  adjacent lane.

The array of assistance systems contained in this wide-ranging suite
of safety and comfort features also comprises of Crossing traffic
warning, which reduces the risk of a collision when manoeuvring
forwards or in reverse towards crossing traffic where visibility is
restricted. Rear Collision warning, Priority warning, Wrong-way
warning and Lane Change Warning are also part of the optional Driving
Assistant Professional package. The latest version of Lane Departure
Warning now includes active steering inputs to bring the vehicle back
  to the intended lane.

For comfortable manoeuvring into and out of parking spaces:
    Parking Assistant Plus.

The functionality of many other assistance systems that make life
easier for the driver when manoeuvring into and out of parking spaces
has been expanded once again. The all-new BMW X5 is equipped as
standard with Park Distance Control (PDC), which brings sensors at the
front and rear of the vehicle.

The Parking Assistant Plus in the all-new BMW X5 enables automatic
selection and use of parallel parking spaces. These parking spaces are
detected by ultrasonic sensors as the vehicle passes them. The Parking
Assistant Plus function is activated at the touch of a button on the
centre console. The system then takes care of the acceleration,
braking, steering and gear changes necessary to manoeuvre into the space.

Unique, high-precision guidance: the Reversing Assistant.

A further illustration of BMW’s ongoing progress towards automated
driving is provided by the Reversing Assistant. This function offers a
level of assistance – for leaving a parking space or manoeuvring in a
confined area – as yet unmatched by other vehicles. The Reversing
Assistant takes over steering to manoeuvre the vehicle along a path
recently negotiated forwards. This system makes reversing for a
distance of up to 50 metres a particularly comfortable task in the new
BMW X5. All the driver has to do is operate the accelerator and brakes
and monitor the surrounding area. The system is initiated by pressing
a button when the vehicle is stationary and the gear selector is in
the “P” position. The steering movements made during the vehicle’s
last forward manoeuvre are stored by the system and retained, even for
longer periods. This means the Reversing Assistant can be used to
manoeuvre the new BMW X5 backwards out of a parking position that it
drove into forwards the preceding day.

The driver enjoys ideal all-round visibility, thanks to both the
rear-view camera and the Top View, Panorama View and 3D View functions
of Parking Assistant Plus, which create a 360-degree image of the
vehicle and its surroundings in the Control Display. In addition,
drivers can use the Remote 3D View feature to access a
three-dimensional live image of their vehicle and surroundings on a smartphone.

Display and control system, BMW Connected and ConnectedDrive.

The BMW Live Cockpit Professional in the all-new BMW X5 combines a
new display and control concept and the ultimate in connectivity to
create a superb all-round package. The latest-generation display and
control concept comprises of a high-resolution instrument cluster
behind the steering wheel with a 12.3-inch screen and a Control
Display also measuring 12.3 inches across.

The most recent incarnation of the display and control concept, which
runs the latest BMW Operating System 7.0, has a cutting-edge, fully
digital design and is geared even more closely to the driver’s
personal needs in order to optimise attention control. With its clear
presentation and structuring, plus customisable and personalised
displays, it sets out to provide drivers with the right information at
  the right time.

The redesigned graphics display in the instrument cluster now leaves
enough room for a part-view of the navigation map. The main menu in
the Control Display is now spread over up to ten pages, each showing
two to four tiles with live content. The intuitive multimodal
interaction between driver and vehicle has also been further improved
and allows him or her to choose between touch control using the
Control Display, the familiar iDrive Touch Controller, the controls on
the steering wheel, voice control, or BMW gesture control, depending
  on the situation at hand.

Other elements of the BMW Live Cockpit Professional are an adaptive
navigation system, a hard-drive-based multimedia system with 20 GB of
memory and two USB ports, plus Bluetooth and WiFi interfaces. The
driver can be automatically detected and personal settings activated
either using the vehicle key or BMW Digital Key, or by selecting a
user in the Control Display and entering the correct PIN.

Drivers can enjoy the full benefits of the car’s intelligent
connectivity capabilities by using its built-in SIM card and unlimited
data allowance. Not only does this provide access to vehicle apps such
as news, weather, office and online search, it also allows customers
to use Intelligent Emergency Call – which automatically summons swift
assistance in an emergency – and to receive regular updates for the
  navigation system’s maps.

For the first time, a selection of digital services will also be
bundled together and offered for the all-new BMW X5 under the guise of
the Connected Package Professional. This will make it easier for
customers to select extremely attractive digital services for their
car, either when ordering their all-new BMW X5 or at a later date. The
Connected Package Professional includes Remote Services, Concierge
Services and Real Time Traffic Information. Customers can continue to
download the various digital services individually and retrospectively
  via the ConnectedDrive Store.

BMW Connected: digital services for individual mobility.

BMW Connected is the digital and personal mobility assistant for
BMW drivers. Intelligent connectivity helps users to reach their
destination easily and with minimal stress – and not only when in
their car; BMW Connected is an all-embracing concept designed to
seamlessly connect the driver and their smartphone with their vehicle.

At the heart of it all is the Open Mobility Cloud, which allows the
personal mobility assistant to interface the car with the customer’s
digital devices. For instance, the BMW Connected app can import
appointments and addresses from the customer’s calendar entries
straight into the navigation system to begin route guidance. The
system also calculates the optimum departure time based on real-time
traffic information and notifies the driver with a message on their
smartphone. As the vehicle is also linked up via the Open Mobility
Cloud, it is able to access the calculated route directly when the
navigation system starts up. In addition, BMW Connected automatically
stores places the driver has visited regularly as well as personal
  mobility patterns.

Premiere in the all-new BMW X5: the BMW Digital Key (Expected
    availability: Q2 2019).

The Digital Key employs Near Field Communication (NFC) technology to
allow the vehicle to be locked and unlocked from a smartphone,
removing the need for a conventional car key. All the driver has to do
to open the vehicle is hold their smartphone up to the door handle.
Once inside, the engine can be started as soon as the phone has been
placed in the Wireless Charging or smartphone tray.

Accessible via the BMW Connected app, the Digital Key offers
unrivalled flexibility, as the driver can share it with up to five
other people. The BMW Digital Key will initially be available for
  selected NFC-capable smartphones at launch.

Always up to date thanks to Remote Software Upgrade.

The Remote Software Upgrade feature keeps the vehicle up to date with
the latest software. All updates can be loaded over the air, as has
been customary for smartphones for some time. The upgrades can be
loaded onto a smartphone via the BMW Connected app when connected to a
domestic WiFi network. This saves customers the trouble of visiting
their BMW Service Partner for updates. The Remote Software Upgrade
facility therefore maximises flexibility while keeping BMW vehicles in
tune with the latest technological developments.

The new BMW X5 xDrive25d now available in Singapore.

World’s most successful Sports Activity Vehicle sets new
benchmarks for driving pleasure, luxury and innovation.

Singapore. BMW Asia and Performance Motors announced
the availability of the new BMW X5 xDrive25d. An all-round Sports
Activity Vehicle (SAV) equipped to meet the most exacting and varied
demands, the new model is powered by a 231hp 2.0-litre turbocharged
  four-cylinder diesel engine.

As BMW’s first SAV, the BMW X5 literally started the premium SAV
segment and has since become a global best-seller of its class with
more than 1.3 million units sold worldwide since the launch of the
first generation X5. The new BMW X5 xDrive25d impresses with its
  outstanding practicality, headlined by its 40: 20: 40 split/folding
rear seat backrest, load capacity rising from 650 to a maximum 1,870
litres and a total of seven seats.

Ride comfort in the new BMW X5 xDrive25d is further enhanced with the
introduction of a range of advanced suspension systems. Adaptive M
suspension is available with the optional M Sport package, which
  includes Sport-tuned suspension settings with a specifically-tuned
Dynamic Damper Control system, as well as an automatic self-levelling
  air suspension at the rear.

Exterior design: an elegant blend of robust presence and
    dynamic flair.

The new BMW X5 xDrive25d combines undeniable presence with driving
efficiency resulting in a modern and eye-catching update.
Drag-reducing Air Curtains are featured on the new BMW X5 xDrive25d.
These vertical apertures guide the inflow of air around the wheel
arches, where it creates a curtain of air over the wheels before
making a controlled escape through the Air Breathers in the side panels.

The clear subdivision between the muscular body and a passenger
compartment, whose large windows lend it a light and spacious feel, is
clearly visible from the rear as well as from the side.

Horizontal lines on the two-section tailgate and around the rear
apron emphasise the width and robust stance of the new BMW X5
xDrive25d. The thin, three-dimensional LED light strips of the
  two-section, L-shaped rear lights create a striking night-time look.
The new BMW X5 xDrive25d also features Aero Blades. These black
air-channelling elements are contiguous with the roof spoiler and help
it to optimise the car’s aerodynamic properties. The exterior
paintwork of the new BMW X5 xDrive25d can be ordered in a choice of 11
colours, among them the new metallic finish Sparkling Brown.

Interior design: high-quality materials, luxurious ambience,
    cutting-edge functionality.

The interior of the new BMW X5 xDrive25d is both elegant and
generously sized. The horizontal structure of the layered surfaces
underlines the broad sweep of the instrument panel and therefore also
the impressive amount of space available on board. Plus, the
three-dimensional design of the surfaces also generates vibrant contrasts.

The ambient lighting designs included in the lighting package lend
extra emphasis to the visual unity between the instrument panel and
door panels. LED units arranged in a wrap-around contour line and
featuring in other areas of the interior create an alluring effect.
Blue, white and orange lighting can be selected either individually or
in nine pre-stored combinations via the iDrive system. The interior
materials selected for the new BMW X5 xDrive25d also play a role in
shaping the exclusive onboard ambience. The trim strip and accent
strip extend into the front door panels and are picked up again in the
  rear door panels.

The freestanding, up to 10.25-inch Control Display linked to the
standard-fitted iDrive operating system adds further appeal. The
displays for the climate control and ventilation systems – and, as
standard, the instrument cluster – feature black panel technology. The
seat surfaces come standard in Dakota leather and customers can choose
  from nine upholstery colours.

Variable-usage interior, up to seven seats and even greater
    versatility.

With its luxurious ambience and enhanced ride comfort, spaciousness
and seating comfort, the new BMW X5 xDrive25d offers noticeable
advances over its predecessor. Added to which, the array of possible
uses for its generously sized interior has grown once again. The newly
designed Comfort seats, which come standard, for the driver and front
passenger, ensure a high level of long-distance comfort and impressive
lateral hold through dynamically taken corners.

The two additional seats are easy to access thanks to an Easy Entry
function and a grip plate by the C-pillar. They can be lowered
separately into the load compartment floor, are designed primarily for
passengers measuring a maximum 1.50 metres in height and come with
  inertia-reel seat belts.

The folding backrest of the second-row seat bench can now be split 40
: 20 : 40, which allows load capacity to be increased in stages from
650 to as much as 1,870 litres – up to120 litres more than its
predecessor. The new BMW X5 xDrive25d also comes with a split
two-section tailgate, the lower element of which can be folded down
horizontally to form a single level with the load surface. Automatic
tailgate operation for the upper section is a standard feature. The
tailgate can also be closed as well as opened using the remote control
and, at the touch of a button, from the driver’s seat.

BMW EfficientDynamics as standard: eight-speed Sport automatic
transmission and ECO PRO mode with new functions.

The engine in the new BMW X5 xDrive25d come standard with an
extremely fast-shifting eight-speed Sport automatic version comes with
steering-wheel shift paddles. The new “Launch Control” function is a
high-precision traction control system which allows engine power to be
translated as efficiently as possible into road speed when
accelerating from standstill, is also available.

In ECO PRO mode, the engine management, accelerator response and
transmission characteristics are systematically tailored to support a
particularly fuel-efficient, low-rpm driving style. At the same time,
ECO PRO mode also programs electrically powered functions like the
climate control, and heated exterior mirrors for extra-efficient
energy management. In ECO PRO mode, a coasting function periodically
decouples the engine from the rest of the powertrain whenever the
driver eases off the accelerator at speeds between 50 and 160 km/h and
does not apply the brakes at the same time. This allows the new BMW X5
xDrive25d to coast without engine braking, for maximised fuel efficiency.

Along with the additional ECO PRO mode functions, the new BMW X5
xDrive25d also comes with many other BMW EfficientDynamics features.
These include Brake Energy Regeneration, the Auto Start Stop function,
on-demand operation of ancillary units, Electric Power Steering, low
roll-resistance tyres and a variety of weight- and drag-reducing
features. Along with other measures, use of ultra-high-tensile steels
in the body structure, thermoplastics in the side panels, aluminium in
the bonnet and magnesium in the instrument panel support make the new
BMW X5 xDrive25d the lightest vehicle in its class.

BMW xDrive in the new BMW X5 xDrive25d: intelligent all-wheel
drive, with optional Dynamic Performance Control.

The new BMW X5 xDrive25d is also equipped with xDrive full-time
intelligent all-wheel drive, which actively manages the drive power
split between the front and rear wheels at all times. The latest
version of the xDrive power divider boasts optimised efficiency and a
1.4 kg reduction in weight. xDrive’s control logic uses information
about road speed, wheel speeds, steering angle and accelerator
position to accurately interpret both the driver’s intentions and what
the car is actually doing, and then adjusts the drive power split so
as to apply as much power as possible to the road. In this way, xDrive
provides top-class traction and stability whatever the road and
weather conditions, and also offers improved cornering dynamics,
suppressing oversteer or understeer before the driver is even aware of
  the need.

If xDrive is combined with Dynamic Performance Control, the drive
power split can be even more finely controlled. Dynamic Performance
Control, likewise electronically controlled, is integrated in the rear
differential. In combination with xDrive it takes handling dynamics
and directional stability to new levels. Dynamic Performance Control
seamlessly varies the drive power split between the rear wheels
(torque vectoring), with significant benefits in terms of steering
response and track-holding at all speeds. The stabilising action of
Dynamic Performance Control is not affected if the driver lifts off
  the accelerator while cornering.

The new BMW X5 xDrive25d also comes with a new xDrive status display
in the control display boasting 3D graphics. This standard-fitted
feature shows real-time information about body roll and pitch. A
compass display is also shown in the instrument cluster.

Extensive standard specification and high-end equipment for
    more driving enjoyment.

The exclusive driving experience in the new BMW X5 xDrive25d is
reflected not only in the luxurious interior but also in the extensive
standard specification and wide range of high-end optional extras. The
standard equipment list now also includes a Bluetooth hands-free
system, an automatically dimming rear-view mirror and cruise control
with braking function. The standard-fitted iDrive operating system– in
conjunction with the standard Navigation system Professional – comes
with an iDrive Touch Controller, whose touch-sensitive surface allows
the use of characters to programme a destination into the navigation
system, for example. A TV module and a newly developed rear-seat
entertainment system with DVD drive and two tablet-style monitors are
also available as an option. Further customisation can be provided
with the aluminium footplates in the side skirts.

The new BMW X5 xDrive25d is available for viewing at Performance
Motors’ showroom from 10 November 2016.

The Indonesian assembled all-new BMW X5 Advanced Dieselis
    ready to lead.

Jakarta. Today, BMW Group Indonesia proudly rolled
out the locally assembledthird generation of the BMWX5with the
latestengine variant, the all-new BMW X5 Advanced Diesel. This pioneer
in the Sports Activity Vehicle segment and global market leader in its
class sets new benchmarks in driving pleasure, comfort, powerful
design, luxurious spaciousness, innovative technology and, above all,
fuel efficiency. All these outstanding elements were on show at BMW
Production Network 2, PT. Gaya Motor, which is a unit of the BMW
Group’s long-standing partner in Indonesia, PT Astra International Tbk.

Mr. Bernhard Kuhnt, Senior Vice President of Importer Regions Africa,
Caribbean, Eastern Europe, Asia Pacific, Middle East, BMW AG, Mr. Axel
Pannes, Managing Director of BMW Group Asia, Mrs. Karen Lim, President
Director of BMW Group Indonesia, as well as the management of BMW
Group Indonesia and PT Astra International Tbk all witnessed the
  roll-out of the new vehicle.

The locally assembled all-new BMW X5 xDrive25d is now ready to offer
Indonesian customers an assured all-round package equipped to meet the
most exacting and varied demands of on-road and off-road driving pleasure.

“BMW Group Indonesia has ramped up its production activities in
Indonesia since 2011, and invested more than IDR 150 billion in
assembling more BMW models in the country. To prove BMW’s long
standing commitment to Indonesia’s consumers, today we added the
locally assembled all-new BMW X5 Advanced Diesel to our stable. This
is a tremendous achievement for us and demonstrates our leadership in
providing premium cars in Indonesia,” said Mrs. Karen Lim, President
Director of BMW Group Indonesia.“Since its first introduction last
year, the all-new BMW X5 has received a very positive response from
Indonesia consumers, and we are sure that this will also be the case
for the locally assembled all-new BMW X5 with the new engine variant -
  Advanced Diesel,” added Karen.

“We are also delighted with our partnership with Gaya Motor, as the
plant applies high standards in terms of processes, quality control
and safety requirements. This guarantees that all locally-assembled
BMW models meet the stringent standards for quality premium cars as
well as the expectations of our customers in Indonesia,” Karen
commented in regard to the BMW assembly process in Indonesia.

“We have now scaled up our production rate to 10 units per day for
the all-new BMW X5 Advanced Diesel assembled in the plant. The
production launch of the all-new BMW X5 has been supported by assembly
experts from our German plants. They have provided training on
assembly processes and quality requirements for approximately 1 month.
The smooth interaction with our German experts has been the key to our
successful launch, but in addition, Gaya Motor’s employees have been
very capable in understanding and implementing our high production
standards. We are very pleased with the overall results. The Gaya
Motor plant has consistently met BMW‟s worldwide high standards for
production and quality,” said Mr. Albert Reichl, BMW Production
Network 2 Management Production Partner Indonesia.

The all-new BMW X5 Advanced Diesel: a fresh dimension in
    driving pleasure and efficiency.

The addition of the Advanced Diesel engine model variant to the BMW
X5 line-up is set to extend the Sports Activity Vehicle’s lead over
its rivals in terms of fuel efficiency. The all-new BMW X5 Advanced
Diesel will be available with a 2.0-litre BMW TwinPower Turbo
four-cylinder diesel engine. The engine powering the all-new BMW X5
xDrive25d comprises a turbocharger with variable geometry and common
rail direct injection to produce maximum output of 218 hp and is
linked to the 8-speed Steptronic gearbox.

The hallmark driving pleasure, eye-catching design, luxurious
ambience and outstanding variability of the SAV is made more enjoyable
because of the vehicle’s impressively low fuel consumption and
emissions. Its average fuel consumption in the EU test cycle stands at
  17,2 km/liters with CO² emissions of 154 g/km.

The all-new BMW X5Advanced Diesel-the best in aerodynamic
design: an elegant blend of robust presence and dynamic flair.

Signature BMW design features combine with undeniable presence,
robustness and versatility to lend BMW X models their distinctive
appearance. The particularly muscular design of the BMW kidney grille,
set within the triangle of the twin circular headlights and lamps, and
the bumper’s X-shaped contour lines mark this vehicle out as a member
of the BMW X model family.

The all-new BMW X5 has an extremely broad-set kidney grille extending
all the way to the headlight units, and the hallmark BMW twin circular
headlights with Xenon technology, in turn, stretch well into the car’s
side panels. Their light rings are each levelled off at the bottom and
overlapped at their top edge by an LED accent light. Sweeping chrome
inserts and the prominently three-dimensional design of the lights
underline the sophisticated character of the all-new BMW X5. In
addition, the all-new BMW X5 is the brand‟s first model to feature
Aero Blades. These black air-channelling elements are contiguous with
the roof spoiler and help it to optimise the aerodynamic properties of
  the vehicle.

BMW xDrive in the all-new BMWX5Advanced Diesel: intelligent
    all-wheel drive.

The new BMW X5 is equipped with full-time xDrive, intelligent
all-wheel drive, which actively manages the drive power split between
the front and rear wheels at all times. The latest version of the
xDrive power divider boasts optimised efficiency and a 1.4 kg
reduction in weight. xDrive provides top-class traction and stability
whatever the road and weather conditions, and also offers improved
cornering dynamics, suppressing over steer or under steer before the
driver is even aware of the need to do so.

All-wheel-drive models come with a new xDrive status display in the
control display boasting 3D graphics. This standard-fitted feature
shows real-time information about body roll and pitch. The all-new BMW
X5 also comes with Hill Descent Control (HDC) -adriver assistance
system in xDrive which holds the vehicle steadily at a pre-determined
speed, helping with the job of brake control so that the driver can
concentrate completely on steering. This makes the potentially
difficult task of driving down a steep hill or over rough ground easy.
HDC is particularly helpful when driving on changeable, loose or
slippery downhill surfaces, such as gravel, or grass. Together with
ABS, it ensures excellent stability and prevents the wheels from
locking if the driver applies the brakes on a slope. This prevents the
vehicle from skidding and permits the driver to retain control over
  the steering.

Engine: more driving enjoyment and efficiency with the BMW
    TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder diesel engine.

As the first ever Sports Activity Vehicle, the BMWX5 continues to set
benchmarks in its segment. The all-new BMW X5xDrive25d comeswith the
BMW TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder in-line diesel engine, BMW
  EfficientDynamicsinnovations,an8-speed Steptronic transmission and ECO
  PRO mode with new functions.

The all-new BMW X5 xDrive25d has an engine displacement of 1,995 cc,
develops a maximum of 218 hp at 4,400 rpm with peak torque of 450 Nm
at just 1,500 – 2,500 rpm. With the Steptronic 8-speed automatic
transmission, it can sprint from 0 to 100km/h in just 8.2 seconds. It
is also highly fuel efficient and environmentally friendly with fuel
consumption of 17,2 km per liter and CO² emissions of 154 g/km.

The vehicle’s 8-speed Steptronic transmission, which features high
internal efficiency, precision and short shift times, helps to improve
both efficiency and driving enjoyment. In ECO PRO mode, the engine
management, accelerator response and transmission characteristics are
systematically tailored to support a particularly fuel-efficient,
  low-rpm driving style.

Chassis: adjustable for more driving enjoyment.

Sports Activity Vehicles are a vehicle segment first defined by BMW.
Their combination of confident, sure-footed off-road traction and
sporty but comfortable on-road driving has made them a global success.
The all-new BMW X5 Advanced Diesel represents a further evolution of
these qualities, incorporating refinements to the all-wheel-drive
system and chassis technology. For example, using the standard-fitted
Adaptive Suspension „Comfort‟ including air suspension on the rear
axle and Driving Experience Control, the drive settings - such as
Comfort, Sport and ECO PRO - can be matched to the requirements of
  different driving situations.

  Enhancedcomfort and luxurious interior design.

The newly-designed driver and front passenger seats of the all-new
BMW X5 Advanced Diesel ensure a high level of long-distance comfort
and impressive lateral hold through dynamically taken corners. Comfort
seats are now available for the rear compartment. These comfort seats
come with bespoke ‘Dakota’ leather upholstery and backrest
adjustments. The Ambient lights package includes nine pre-set lighting
designs featuring tricolour – Blue, Classic and White – LEDs which
provide a pleasant atmosphere throughout the interior. The Panorama
glass roof also creates an overall sense of spaciousness in the
all-new BMW X5 Advanced Diesel, while the sun blinds on the rear side
  windows increase privacy.

Besides the comfortable driving pleasure it offers, the interior
design of the all-new BMW X5 also presents impressive functionality
both in day-to-day use and on longer journeys. The folding backrest of
the second-row seat bench can now be split 40: 20: 40, which allows
the load capacity to be increased. The all-new BMW X5 is also decked
out with a split two-section tailgate, the lower element of which can
be folded down horizontally to form a single level with the load
surface. Automatic tailgate operation for the upper section is a
standard feature. Also, for the first time, the tailgate can be closed
as well as opened using a remote control and, at the touch of a
  button, from the driver’s seat.

The exclusive driving experience offered by the all-new BMW X5
Advanced Diesel is also reflected in its extensive specifications and
wide range of high-end features. These include the 10.2-inch Control
Display of the standard-fitted BMW Navigation system Professional with
iDrive Touch operating system. In addition, the vehicle boasts DVD
drive with USB interface including Bluetooth, and a BMW loudspeaker
system with 9 loudspeakers and 205 W output.

The locally assembled all-new BMW X5 Advanced Diesel.

The all-new BMW X5 Advanced Diesel will be available from BMW

Rp. 1.149.000.000,- off-the-road, and comes with BMW Service

years or 60,000 km, whichever comes first, as well as a 36-month

  The BMW X5 xDrive40e.

The first plug-in hybrid production car from the BMW core brand is a
Sports Activity Vehicle. Permanent all-wheel drive and the BMW
EfficientDynamics eDrive technology endow the BMW X5 xDrive40e with
sensational sportiness and supreme poise on the one hand and
  outstanding efficiency on the other.

With a total system output of 230 kW/313 hp generated by a
four-cylinder petrol engine with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology and a
synchronous electric motor, the BMW X5 xDrive40e achieves a combined
  fuel consumption of 3.4 – 3.3 litres per 100 kilometres (83.1 – 85.6
mpg imp) and a combined electricity consumption of 15.4 – 15.3 kWh
over the same distance. CO2 emissions come in at 78 – 77 grams per
kilometre (figures according to EU test cycle for plug-in hybrid
vehicles, may vary depending on the tyre format specified).

The use of BMW eDrive technology for exceptionally efficient
performance as well as all-electric mobility with zero tailpipe
emissions as and when required ushers in a whole new form of
commanding driving experience in a sports activity vehicle. At the
same time, the BMW X5 xDrive40e reaps the benefits of the technology
and know-how transferred from the debut of the BMW i cars. The BMW i8
blazes a trail for sustainable driving pleasure with plug-in hybrid
drive power, which can now also be enjoyed for the first time in a model

from the BMW core brand.

Lithium-ion battery with flexible charging options, typical
SAV versatility and an exclusive ambience.

The energy for the electric motor integrated in the 8-speed
Steptronic transmission is drawn from a lithium-ion battery, which
also supplies power to the low-voltage battery for the 12V electrical
system aboard the BMW X5 xDrive40e via a voltage transformer. It can
be recharged by connecting to any standard domestic power socket or a
BMW i Wallbox, as well as at public charging
stations. To save space the high-voltage battery is housed underneath
the luggage compartment floor, where it is also particularly well
protected in the event of a crash. With 500 – 1,720 litres of luggage
space, a three-part folding rear backrest and a luxuriously designed
interior, the BMW X5 xDrive40e also boasts the high versatility
associated with a large sports activity vehicle but blended with an
  exclusive ambience.

Intelligent powertrain control and eDrive button for intense
hybrid driving and mobility with zero local emissions.

The actual driving experience is likewise characterised by versatile
and effortless performance. The intelligent hybrid powertrain control
ensures that the engine and the electric motor act in unison in a way
that optimizes efficiency while also catering perfectly to the
driver’s wishes. The eDrive button on the centre console allows the
driver to adjust the hybrid drive’s operating mode. In the
AUTO eDrive basic setting, the engine’s power is
boosted to noticeable effect when accelerating or during quick bursts
  of speed

by the electric drive, whose full torque of 250 Newton metres (184
lb-ft) is on tap from standstill for instantaneous power delivery. The
  BMW X5 xDrive40e completes the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in
  6.8 seconds.

Alternatively, the MAX eDrive mode can be engaged,
enabling the BMW X5 xDrive40e to run purely on electric power – when
driving in urban traffic for instance – resulting in zero local
emissions. When the high-voltage battery is fully charged, the vehicle
has a range of up to 31 kilometres (approx.19 miles) in the
  all-electric drive mode with a limited maximum speed of 120 km/h (75
mph). The SAVE Battery mode can also be activated at
the touch of a button, causing the high-voltage battery’s state of
charge to be maintained or allowing energy to be accumulated again,
e.g. by means of recuperation, if capacity is low. In this way,
electrical energy can be deliberately conserved for all-electric
  driving later in the journey.

Regardless of the setting chosen with the eDrive button, the power
stemming from both drive sources is permanently transmitted to the
road via the intelligent all-wheel-drive system, BMW xDrive. The
various vehicle set-ups that can be selected with the Driving
Experience Control switch – COMFORT, SPORT and ECO PRO – are also
  available in all drive modes.

Hybrid-specific products and services from BMW ConnectedDrive
    and BMW 360° ELECTRIC.

All of the driver assistance systems and mobility services from BMW
ConnectedDrive offered as standard or as optional extras for the BMW
X5 are also available to provide enhanced driving pleasure in the
model variant with eDrive technology. An intelligent energy
management function is also offered as a special
model-specific feature that can be used in conjunction with the
Navigation system Professional which is fitted as standard in the BMW
X5 xDrive40e. Whenever route guidance is active, data on the route
profile is factored into powertrain control along with real-time
traffic information. When driving medium to long distances, the system
can therefore ensure it is possible to drive purely on electric power
on urban sections by using Brake Energy Regeneration and managing the
high-voltage battery’s energy reserves in a targeted and efficient manner.

The hybrid-specific version of the BMW Remote app makes it possible
to check the high-voltage battery’s state of charge, locate public
charging stations or call up efficiency evaluations for the BMW X5
xDrive40e on a smartphone. The auxiliary heating and ventilation
functions can also be activated remotely.

The BMW i Wallbox Pure and BMW i Wallbox
Pro, including installation service, are available for home
charging as part of the BMW 360° ELECTRIC concept, offering customers
a particularly fast and convenient means of recharging the
high-voltage battery while parked. Model-specific assistance services
are also available. The ChargeNow service provides
cash-free access to an extensive partner network of charging stations
and billing of the charging costs with the ChargeNow
card. The mobility service ParkNow Longterm,
meanwhile, makes it easier to find a parking space or locate and book
a parking spot with charging facilities.

  Wide-ranging equipment options.

The comprehensive standard specification of the BMW X5 on the plug-in
hybrid model is extended to include the Navigation system Professional
as well as an auxiliary heating and ventilation system. This is
powered by electricity from the high-voltage battery or from the mains
supply while charging. The BMW X5 xDrive40e additionally comes
equipped as standard with the Adaptive Suspension Package Comfort
including rear air suspension and Dynamic Damper Control.

Beyond this, practically all the optional extras offered for the BMW
X5 can also be specified for the plug-in hybrid model. The Design Pure
Experience and Pure Excellence packages for the exterior and interior
are also available for the BMW X5 xDrive40e, as are the M Sport
package and the bespoke features from BMW Individual.

Further information on official fuel consumption figures, specific
CO2 emission values and the electric power consumption of new
passenger cars is included in the following guideline: “Leitfaden über
Kraftstoffverbrauch, die CO2-Emissionen und den Stromverbrauch neuer
Personenkraftwagen” (Guideline for fuel consumption, CO2 emissions and
electric power consumption of new passenger cars), which can be

  Media Information

10 January 2014

  The new BMW X5.

World’s most successful Sports Activity Vehicle sets new benchmarks
for driving pleasure, luxury and innovation.

Singapore. BMW Asia has unveiled the third-generation BMW X5, an
all-round Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) that is equipped to meet the
most exacting and varied demands. The new BMW X5 will make its local
debut in three variants; a V8-powered BMW X5 xDrive50i with up to
  450hp, the 306hp petrol six-cylinder engine BMW X5 xDrive35i and a
  six-cylinder in-line diesel-powered BMW X5 xDrive30d with up to 258hp.

As BMW’s first SAV, the BMW X5 literally started the premium SAV
segment and has since become a global best-seller of its class with
more than 1.3 million units sold worldwide since the launch of the
  first generation X5.

“Thanks to Efficient Dynamics technology, the new BMW X5 has
definitely surpassed its predecessor in terms of raised performance
and reduced fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. This is achieved
through measures including intelligent lightweight construction
  techniques and

aerodynamic optimisation. Compared to its predecessor, the overall
power output of the new BMW X5 xDrive50i has increased by 10 percent
and it is also 16 percent more fuel efficient than before,” said Mr
Sethipong Anutarasoti, Corporate Affairs Director of BMW Group Asia.

“Further, the range of Connected Drive features is now more extensive
than ever, and includes several innovative driver assistance systems
such as: Collision Warning System with braking function and Attention
Assistant, which are unique among the BMW X5’s rivals.”

The new BMW X5 also impresses with its outstanding practicality,
headlined by its 40: 20: 40 split/folding rear seat backrest, load
capacity rising from 650 to a maximum 1,870 litres and a total of
  seven seats.

Ride comfort in the new BMW X5 is also further enhanced with the
introduction of a range of advanced suspension systems.

The Comfort Adaptive Suspension package comprises Dynamic Damper
Control and automatic self-leveling air suspension at the rear. The
electronic control logic adapts the damping characteristics to
changing road conditions and driving situations. Two different damping modes

can be selected using the Driving Experience Control switch.

The Dynamic Adaptive Suspension Package provides significantly
sportier cornering dynamics. Dynamic Performance Control and the
Dynamic Drive active roll stabilisation optimise directional stability
  and reduce body roll.

The BMW X5 xDrive50i comes as standard with the Professional Adaptive
Suspension package, which combines the components of the Comfort and
Dynamic Adaptive Suspension packages into an integrated system
offering highest levels of driving enjoyment in all situations.

The BMW X5 xDrive35i and X5 xDrive30d, meanwhile, come standard with
  the Comfort Adaptive Suspension package.

Adaptive M suspension is available with the optional M Sport package,
which includes Sporttuned suspension settings with a
specifically-tuned Dynamic Damper Control system, as well as an
automatic self-levelling air suspension at the rear.

  Bali. BMW Indonesia unveiled today
the new Sports Activity Vehicle BMW X5 to the media at Hotel
Alila Uluwatu, Bali. After its success in introducing
BMW Advanced Diesel for its new BMW X1, the new BMW X5 is
also available with diesel in addition to its gasoline
  engine. Three models – BMW X5 xDrive50i, X5
xDrive35i Executive and X5 xDrive30d – are now available for
customers at all BMW authorized dealerships.

“The BMW X5 is a very versatile and dynamic Sports
Activity Vehicle (SAV) that has gained in popularity since the
launch in Indonesia in 2001. BMW X5 leads the trend of premium
SAV in the world as well as in Indonesia. We have delivered a
total of 879 units of the X5 since its introduction, “said
Ramesh Divyanathan, President Director of BMW Indonesia.

“Now the new BMW X5 comes with selective design
modifications to enhance its sporting characteristics, new 8 speed
Steptronic automatic transmissions and a completely new engine
portfolio, combining the highest level of sheer driving pleasure
and fuel efficiency. The new model will strengthen BMW's
position as the leader in the premium SAV segment in Indonesia.”

The new BMW X5 has larger side air intakes at the front and an
increased proportion of surfaces painted in body color within the
front and rear end aprons. The overall athletic character is
also enhanced with the reshaped rear bumper and the tailpipe
surrounds. The corona rings in the new BMW X5 comes with
LED daytime running lights and bi-xenon dual headlights that make the
car easily recognizable. The L-shaped, redesigned taillights
feature illuminated LED light horizontal graphics.

The interior of the new BMW X5 is characterized by a generous amount
of space, and a modern, sophisticated design. Comfortable seats,
high-grade materials and carefully matched color combinations
accentuate the premium character of this modern SAV.
All models are equipped with panoramic glass
roof. A rear view camera with top view is equipped as standard
  feature for BMW X5 xDrive50i.

BMW X5 models cater to up to 5 occupants, except the BMW
xDrive50i that features a third-row seat to give a flexibility to
  accommodate up to 7 persons.

All models of the new BMW X5 are equipped with an eight-speed
Streptonic automatic transmission as standard, further enhancing its
  road performance and efficiency.
The top model, BMW X5
xDrive50i, is equipped with Adaptive Drive to minimize body roll and
  to enhance the driving comfort.

The BMW X5 xDrive50i comes with V8 4.4-liter engine featuring
BMW TwinPower Turbo and High Precision Injection, capable of
producing 407 hp at 5,500 rpm and maximum torque of 600 Nm at
1,750 rpm. The BMW X5 xDrive50i accelerates from a standstill to
  100 km/h in 5.5 seconds. Average fuel consumption is 12.5 l/100
km. The CO2 emission level is 292 g/km.

The second petrol engine variant is the new BMW X5 xDrive35i
Executive features the first straight six-cylinder 3-liter engine to
combine BMW TwinPower Turbo technology, High Precision Injection and
Valvetronic. It delivers 306 hp at 5,800 rpm with a maximum
torque of 400 Nm at 1,200 rpm. It sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.8
seconds. The average fuel consumption is 10.1 l/100 km and a CO2
  emission level of 236 g/km.

The new BMW X5 xDrive30d also features 3-liter straight six-cylinder
engine with all-aluminium construction, the latest Common Rail
direction technology with piezo injectors and a turbocharger .
The engine generates its maximum output of 245 hp at 4,000 rpm,
producing its maximum torque of 540 Nm at 1.750 rpm. The new BMW
  X5 xDrive30d accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.6 seconds. The
  fuel consumption is 7.4 l/100 km with a CO2 emission level of 195 g/km.

BMW EfficientDynamics technologies that come as standard in all the
models are Brake Energy Regeneration, intelligent lightweight
construction, tire with reduced rolling resistance and optimized aerodynamics.

Permanent four-wheel drive with electronically-controlled variable
torque distribution between front and rear axles not only gives the
new BMW X5 supreme traction on off-road terrain, but also superior
  driving dynamics on tarmac.

The intelligent four-wheel drive system uses a transfer box with an
electronically controlled multi-disc clutch to constantly feed power
as required to the axle that has the best contact with the road
surface. As a result, xDrive also enhances driving stability
when taking bends at higher speeds as it anticipates any tendency to
oversteer or understeer and counteracts these forces effectively.

In normal driving situations, BMW xDrive distributes drive forces to
the front and rear axles in a 40:60 split. Sensors constantly
monitor slip on all wheels. Within a fraction of a second, the
system is able to vary the power distribution ratio.

<pp:caseid>780168</pp:caseid><pp:summary>Anniversary of the first Sports Activity Vehicle: since the premiere at the North American International Auto Show 1999, over 845,000 have been sold worldwide.</pp:summary>

Munich. With superior dynamic performance on the road and outstanding
traction on rough terrain, the BMW X5 has been on an unstoppable course
for success for ten years. BMW presented the first generation of the
all-wheel-drive five-door vehicle at the North American International
Auto Show in 1999, thereby founding the segment of the Sports Activity
Vehicle (SAV). The world premiere marked the start of an unprecedented
success story. Within one decade, over 845,000 units of the BMW X5 were
sold. As a result of the consistent further development of the SAV
concept, there are now three BMW X models to choose from, with a fourth
ready for serial production in 2009. What is more, the BMW X5 became the
key inspiration for the entire competitive field of all-wheel-drive
vehicles. In its anniversary year, with the BMW X5 now in its second
generation, the vehicle remains the role model and benchmark of its
class in terms of driving dynamics, efficiency, versatility, premium
quality and safety. From the very beginning, the key to the success of
the BMW X5 lay in its combination of two fascinating qualities which
had never been realised in any vehicle previously. The new model
successfully transferred characteristic BMW driving pleasure into a
completely new market segment. For the very first time, the spacious,
permanently four-wheel driven BMW X5 combined the driving dynamics of a
BMW sedan with supreme mobility away from asphalted road surfaces. Its
integral safety body and independent wheel suspension clearly set the
BMW X5 apart from conventional off-road vehicles, with the driving
stability system DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) including automatic
differential brake ADB-X (Automatic Differential Brake) and HDC (Hill
Descent Control) ensuring supreme driving qualities both on and off the
road. Dynamic performance and versatility were also expressed in the
design of the vehicle. Another striking feature was the raised seating
position which instantly gave the driver the same sense of supremacy
which was provided by the chassis technology. In addition, the
spacious, versatile and high-quality interior provided a whole new
driving experience for an all-wheel-drive automobile. The second
generation of the BMW X5 launched in autumn 2006 saw a consistent
further development of the Sports Activity Vehicle's characteristic
features. With its increased space comfort, luxurious ambience, even
more supreme drivetrain technology and innovative chassis along with
driver assistance systems, the new BMW X5 once again sets the benchmark
throughout the extended competitive field of BMW X models. Like its
predecessor it is produced at BMW's North American plant in Spartanburg
and is the first BMW to potentially provide seating for up to seven
occupants. Its further developed intelligent all-wheel drive BMW xDrive
uniquely enhances both driving dynamics on the road and traction over
rough terrain. The permanent, electronically controlled all-wheel
drive, which is also networked with the drive stability system DSC,
distributes drive power variably between the front and rear wheels.
With the success of the BMW X5, the foundation stone was laid for the
current status of BMW as the world's most successful manufacturer of
premium all-wheel drive vehicles. What is more, numerous reputable
awards for the vehicle's design, quality and safety reflect the
increased appeal of the large SAV models made by BMW. In 2007 the BMW
X5 received the design award "autonis" of the automobile
journal "auto motor und sport" for the most attractive design
and a gold award in the J.D. Power customer satisfaction study in North
America, as well as securing class victory in the "auto 1"
competition of the international "Auto Bild" Group. These
prizes were followed in 2008 by class victory in the "auto, motor
und sport" readers' vote "The best cars". Twice in
succession, the BMW X5 also won a place among the three vehicles with
the most stable value in the German automobile market, causing the
magazine "Auto Bild" to pronounce it "Value Master of
the Year" in both 2007 and 2008. As long ago as 2000, the Insurance
Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) in the US declared the BMW X5 of
the first generation to be the safest vehicle ever to be subjected to
one of its crash tests. In 2003 the SAV achieved the highest possible
score of 5 stars on the Euro-NCAP crash test. The current BMW X5
received the "Top Safety Pick Award" for outstanding crash
test results from the IIHS in both 2007 and 2008. The BMW X5 of model
year 2009 also occupies a leading position in the area of efficiency.
State-of-the-art 8 and 6-cylinder petrol engines and outstandingly
economical 6-cylinder diesel engines in combination with current BMW
EfficientDynamics measures ensure that the BMW X5 combines its excellent
qualities with fuel consumption and exhaust emission levels which are
exemplary in its vehicle and output category. This is also evidence
that the development strategy BMW EfficientDynamics has taken
impressive effect in the segment of the BMW X models, too. After all,
the fuel consumption of all engine types of the BMW X5 has been
considerably reduced in the course of its ten-year history - despite a
significant increase in power. The BMW X5 xDrive48i of model year 2009
achieves an average fuel consumption of 12.1 litres per 100 kilometres
in the EU test cycle - 13 per cent lower than the BMW X5 4.4i of the
year 2000 which had almost 70 bhp less output. The BMW X5 xDrive30i
surpasses its predecessor models by 41 bhp, yet it has an average fuel
consumption level of just 10.3 litres per 100 kilometres, i.e. around
20 per cent less. In the BMW X5 xDrive30d, the output has been
increased by 51 bhp, but fuel consumption has been cut by over 15 per
cent to 8.2 litres per 100 kilometres. These figures are all the more
impressive when they are viewed in relation to the space and comfort
offered by the vehicle. The first BMW to offer space for seven vehicle
occupants is available with engines which offer outstanding fuel
economy and a low level of exhaust emissions. With an average fuel
consumption of 8.2 litres per 100 kilometres and a CO2 output of 217
grams the BMW X5 xDrive30d with 173 kW/235 bhp shows a remarkable
degree of efficiency, especially considering its seating capacity: even
in the segment of small cars, a per-capita fuel consumption of less
than 1.2 litres per 100 kilometres and the relevant CO2 output level of
31 grams per kilometre is achieved only rarely.

Press Contact: Cindy Chia
Tel: +65-6838-9629
E-mail: cindy.chia@bmwasia.com

X5,Press Release,Product,BMW

Receiving the Top Safety Pick for the 2009 BMW 3 Series Sedan,
X5, and X3 vehicles is one of numerous awards BMW has earned from the
IIHS over the years. In fact, as a result of IIHS crash tests in 2000,
the 2001 BMW X5 earned the unique distinction of not only being the
best SUV, but also being the safest vehicle ever tested by IIHS up to
that point. "BMW continues to be committed to both our active and
passive safety technologies, and we are pleased to receive the
Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's Top Safety Pick award for the
2009 BMW 3 Series Sedan, X5, and X3," said Jim O'Donnell,
President of BMW of North America, LLC. The Institute rates vehicles
"Good," "Acceptable," "Marginal" or
"Poor" based on performance in high-speed Frontal Offset and
Side Impact crash tests as well as an evaluation of the vehicle's Rear
Crash Protection/Head Restraints, which protect against neck injuries
in rear impact crashes. In order for a vehicle to become a Top Safety
Pick, it must earn "Good" ratings in all three Institute
tests. Additionally, as of 2007, winning vehicles must also offer
Electronic Stability Control (ESC) - a standard feature on all BMW
vehicles, known as Dynamic Stability Control. The IIHS requires this
feature based on Institute research indicating that ESC significantly
reduces crash risk, especially the risk of fatal single vehicle
crashes, by helping drivers maintain control of their vehicles during
emergency maneuvers.

Press Contact: Cindy Chia
Tel: +65-6838-9629
E-mail: cindy.chia@bmwasia.com

X5,Press Release,Concept Vehicles & Design,X3,Sedan,Product,BMW

At the same time, the X5 is the first ever so-called
"large off-roader" to win five stars in the Euro NCAP. This
success underlines the fact that aesthetic design, dynamism and safety -
the typical characteristics of all BMW automobiles - also distinguish
the X5 unconfined. Thus, the attractive design of the X5 sports
activity vehicle combines the sporty-comfortable characteristics of
BMW's saloons with the wide-ranging cross-country capabilities of an
off-roader. Likewise, it represents the marque as a shining example in
terms of safety. With independent wheel suspension and stability
management system DSC, its suspension sets the active safety benchmark
in this class of vehicle. The five stars the vehicle has now won in the
Euro NCAP crash test testify to the high standard of passive safety,
which the X5 has already demonstrated in previous crash tests. Thus, as
early as in 2000, in the test conducted by the US Insurance Institute
for Highway Safety (IIHS), it scored the best result ever achieved by
any vehicle up until that time. Euro NCAP - the acid test for
automobiles The acronym NCAP (New Car Assessment Programme) stands for
the toughest of crash tests an automobile can be subjected to. The Euro
NCAP test, which is recognized and continually tightened by European
governments, consumer protection organizations and automobile clubs,
has meanwhile become an established criterion for crash tests in
Europe. Similar NCAP test procedures are applied in Japan and the
United States. The Euro NCAP test consists of three single tests:
frontal, side and pole crash. In the frontal crash test, the BMW X5
scored 13 out of 16 points, while it won all of the 18 possible points
in the jointly rated side and pole crash tests. The Euro NCAP
consortium thus attest to the very low injury risk of the X5 for all
occupants and in all crash scenarios tested. The Euro NCAP frontal
crash test is considered to be one of the most difficult of all crash
test set-ups: In this so-called offset crash, the vehicle travelling at
a speed of 64.5 kph impacts a deformable obstacle with only 40 percent
of its frontal width. Although the collision forces thus act on only
part of the car's front end, they must be distributed over the full
width of the vehicle in as controlled a manner as possible. In the case
of the BMW X5, several force introduction points receive the
longitudinal forces and direct them to the underbody, the side members,
the side frame and transmission tunnel. Optimum protection in side and
pole crash scenarios In the side crash test, a deformable barrier hits
the stationary vehicle at 50 kph. In this test, the X5 scored the
maximum possible number of points. In the additional pole crash test,
the vehicle hits a vertical steel pole of 25 cm diameter at 29 kph at
the level of the head centre of gravity of an adult. For the X5, the
HIC value (Head Injury Criterion) for the head proved uncritical so
that the crash experts again awarded the maximum score for this test.
Unitized body instead of frame construction That the BMW X5 affords such
exemplary protection to its occupants in the event of a crash is
something not taken for granted in the segment of large off-roaders.
Sports utility vehicles (SUV) which are rather designed for rugged
off-road driving, with their conventional frame construction make the
energy absorption process more difficult in a collision. By contrast,
BMW's Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) dispenses with a frame
construction. Instead, the X5 is based on the lightweight unitized body
which has become normal practice for passenger cars and is thus able to
absorb considerably more crash energy than a vehicle with frame
construction. Thus, the loads acting on the occupants are reduced even
before the restraint systems, like safety belts and airbags, are
activated. Active and passive safety at the highest standard In
addition to the high design-inherent safety reserves, the X5 with its
extensive equipment offers the customer a maximum level of passive
safety. Occupant protection is ensured by up to ten airbags, including
intelligent two-stage frontal airbags and ITS head airbag,
automatic-reel three-point safety belts on all seats, belt tensioners
and belt force limiters, belt wear and seat occupancy detection as well
as ISOFIX child seat mountings. In order to avoid accidents from
happening in the first place, BMW development engineers have invested a
maximum of effort also in the active safety systems. The superior
suspension, the low vehicle centre of gravity and an almost ideal 52:48
axle load distribution are complemented by Dynamic Stability Control
(DSC), the electronic stability management system. For operation beyond
paved roads, this system has been extended to include ADB-X, the
automatic differential breake, and "Hill Descent Control"
(HDC), the intelligent downhill drive control system. ABS, Dynamic
Brake Control (DBC) and Cornering Brake Control assist the excellent
brake system of the X5 in critical situations and "Trailer
Stability Control" system permits safe driving also when towing a
trailer. It is therefore not only since the most recent successful
crash test and the impressive five-star award that we can make this
undisputed claim: The X5 offers safe, agile and comfortable handling
characteristics on both surfaced and rural roads.

Press Contact: Cindy Chia
Tel: +65-6838-9629
E-mail: cindy.chia@bmwasia.com

X5,Press Release,Product,BMW

Based
on the results, the X5 has been rated a "Best Pick" by the
Institute - the third BMW to receive this distinction. Not only is the
X5 the best SUV ever tested it is, in fact, the best vehicle yet
tested. In the test, the X5 was crashed into a deformable barrier with
only the left side of the vehicle striking the barrier. This type of
crash introduces significant twisting forces to the already severe
impact. "The performance of the BMW X5 in our high-speed offset
test was outstanding," noted Brian O'Neill, president of the
Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, "the occupant compartment,
or safety cage, sustained very little damage. Measured intrusion into
the compartment was less than in any other vehicle the Institute has
tested. With exemplary performance in earlier tests of the 5 and 3
Series, and now the X5, BMW has set the standard for all other
manufacturers to aspire to." "As the first manufacturer to
offer a head protection system in a light- truck, as we were with
passenger cars, we're very pleased by the performance of the X5 in the
IIHS test," said Tom Purves, Chairman of BMW (US) Holding Corp.,
"HPS is, however, just one element of BMW's Fully Integrated Road
Safety Technology philosophy." Putting safety 'F.I.R.S.T.', the
X5 Sports Activity Vehicle is designed to the same high standard of
crashworthiness as BMW passenger cars. In addition to HPS, all X5s
benefit from two-stage, differentiated deployment SMART front airbags
and front side-impact airbags. These are all made more effective by the
extraordinarily rigid unitized chassis of the X5, backed up by carefully
designed deformation zones which absorb and deflect impact energy.
Equally important is the ability to avoid an impact altogether. Its
combination of responsiveness and agility, coupled with
state-of-the-art electronic safeguards such as Hill Descent Control and
Dynamic Stability Control (BMW's electronic stability enhancement
system), make the X5 a very stable and predictable vehicle. BMW is
widely recognized as a safety leader. As the first manufacturer to offer
a head protection system, BMW was given the "Safe Car of the
Millennium" award by the International Brain Injury Association.
More details on the test may be found at the Insurance Institute for
Highway Safety website at www.highwaysafety.org.

Press Contact: Cindy Chia
Tel: +65-6838-9629
E-mail: cindy.chia@bmwasia.com

X5,Press Release,Product,BMW

demonstrates the sheer size of the technical potential the X5 can offer under
extreme conditions</pp:summary>

An impressive study demonstrates the sheer size of the technical
potential the X5 can offer under extreme conditions: The X5 Le Mans is
propelled by the V12 engine carried over from the Le Mans winning car,
with unparalleled performance at a corresponding level. This means that
the engine of the X5 Le Mans experimental vehicle performs a power unit
developing 700 bhp (514 kW) and has a torque of 720 Nm (531 lb-ft) at
5000 rpm, which accelerates this experimental car from a stand-still to
100 km/h in 4.7 seconds. Top speed is 278 km/h (173 mph). The idea
behind the X5 Le Mans experimental vehicle originates primarily from a
technical ambition: BMW's engineers wanted to explore and demonstrate
the X5's real absolute limits in practice. As a positive side effect,
their efforts produced a compelling showpiece whose powerful looks
reflect its impressive inner values. Racing-car technology The most
striking change to the exterior is the bonnet scoop for the air from the
radiator. Further exterior modifications were made to the front and rear
bumper covers, the wing skirts and sill covers, the exterior mirrors and
wheels. The chassis with 20-inch wheels was lowered by 30 millimetres
(1.18 inches). Depending on the type of duty this car is applied to,
315/35 or 275/40 tyres are mounted on its front wheels, while its rear
wheels are generally fitted with 315/35 tyres. Axle load distribution is
almost ideal, at 51:49% front/rear. Exterior dimensions are basically
the same as on the standard X5. The interior, on the other hand, looks
quite different, with a definite high-tech touch. The more comfortable
standard seats were replaced by four bucket seats with a particular
emphasis on sportiness, and aluminium stands out as a predominating
element throughout. Award-winning power unit: BMW engine sets
racing-sports standards BMW's six-litre V12 engine is the perfect
engine to meet the chal-lenge of sports-car competitions. In 1995 this
engine celebrated its first great triumph as the winner of the 24 Hours
of Le Mans - powering the closed McLaren BMW sports car. BMW's greatest
success with this power unit was the BMW V12 LMR's final win in the
legendary 24-hour race in 1999. For racing use, the engine's output was
derated to approx. 580 bhp (426 kW) by installing air supply limiters.
The X5 Le Mans is a one-of-a-kind vehicle and it is not for sale. There
are no plans to produce it in small batches or on a larger scale.

Press Contact: Cindy Chia
Tel: +65-6838-9629
E-mail: cindy.chia@bmwasia.com

X5,Press Release,Product,BMW
