Munich. BMW Customer Service has its customers’
backs. The new “Relax. We Care.” campaign showcases this aspect with a
quirky sense of humour. It is now available to view on social media.

Anything that can go wrong will go wrong – and this is also the theme
of the new short film for the annual BMW Customer Service campaign.
“The Thief” is a story about a marriage proposal and a thief, with all
kinds of surprising twists and turns. Larger than life, told with
tongue firmly in cheek, and great attention to detail.

As in the previous films “The Park” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tD9TJrcp5AM)
  and “The Storm” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E1_Vv7Fb4Bk),
the BMW as the silent protagonist suffers plenty of indignities.
Scratches, dents, shattered glass and broken-off parts are the visible
result of these unexpected adventures. Just as well the professionals
from BMW Service and Original BMW Parts are there to repair the damage
and bring the claim “Relax. We Care.” to life.

The “Relax. We Care.” campaign was produced by the digital agency
Monks. The short film “The Thief” is available to view from 19 March
  at https://youtu.be/z0zKyLufPTI

Singapore. BMW Asia returns to the Singapore
Motorshow 2025, with the launch of three special models in response to
growing customer needs in the market: the BMW 530i Signature, the
all-new BMW 1 Series (CAT A COE hatchback), and the Singapore
Motorshow premiere of the all-new BMW X3. From 9-12 January 2025,
visitors can discover these models at the BMW Group Pavilion at Suntec
City Convention Centre (Level 4, Booth 4217 and 4218).

“We are excited to introduce models that represent the best of each
body style – hatchback, SAV and sedan,” said Lars Nielsen, Managing
Director, BMW Group Asia. “The BMW 530i Signature is available for the
first time in Singapore and expands the BMW 5 Series range to four
variants. The all-new BMW 1 Series, now in its fourth generation,
increases our Cat A COE offerings and welcomes a stylish new era of
premium hatchbacks. Finally, the all-new BMW X3, BMW’s global
best-selling model in 2023, is the ideal companion for families and
active individuals alike thanks to its versatility and comfort.”

The 1175 sqm BMW Group Pavilion, the largest presence ever for both
BMW and MINI brands at the Singapore Motorshow, showcases a first-ever
two-level booth with the New Owners Lounge located on the Mezzanine
Level, curated food and beverage offerings, and more. This impressive
space is the result of close collaboration across all BMW Group Dealer
Partners in Singapore – Performance Motors Limited, Eurokars Auto, and
  Eurokars Habitat.

“The Singapore Motorshow isn’t just an automotive show for us,” said
Claudia Wieshuber, Director of Marketing, BMW Asia. “It’s an
opportunity to kick-off the new year, welcome old and new customers to
see our latest models, engage them in a variety of activities and
leave them with memorable experiences. We’ve worked tirelessly with
our partners to ensure all our customers have the best experience
possible when they visit the BMW Group Pavilion and we hope we’ve
raised the bar for us and others moving forward.”

2025 also marks BMW Group Asia’s 40th anniversary in
Singapore. “This is a milestone for us and one we plan to celebrate
throughout the year,” said Nielsen. “We have grown as an organisation,
and with our partners in the markets, to be where we are today. We are
committed to further developing our Importer Markets across the
Southeast Asian, South Asian and Pan Pacific regions and securing our
position as the number one premium brand.”

7-speed dual-clutch transmission Steptronic as standard. Power is

  accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.8 seconds.

Singapore. BMW Asia today announced the availability
of the all-new BMW X3 in Singapore. Boasting greater sporting appeal,
visual impact, and versatility than ever, the all-new BMW X3 assumes
the mantle of talented all-rounder for everyday use, leisure
activities and trips away in the brand’s core segment. A new design
language gives the fourth generation of the Sports Activity Vehicle
(SAV) for the premium midsize segment much enhanced exterior presence
and an aura of dynamic grace. High-quality materials in the cabin and
exceptionally precise tuning of the overall vehicle setup set the tone
for the premium ambience, driving pleasure, safety, and long-distance
comfort. The all-new BMW X3 will have its Singapore Motorshow premiere
at BMW’s largest booth yet, at the Suntec City Exhibition Centre from
  9 to 12 January 2025.

“We are proud to present the all-new version of BMW’s global
best-selling model in 2023,” said Mr. Lars Nielsen, Managing Director,
BMW Group Asia. “Bigger, better, and bolder – the all-new BMW X3
builds on its success and delivers the ultimate driving experience
customers have come to expect from the brand, while combining the
latest BMW design language and powertrain innovations. The all-new BMW
X3 offers the perfect blend of capability, comfort, and dynamic
driving for the stylish and sporty driver in the urban jungle. As we
enter 2025, I’m confident the all-new BMW X3 is poised to further
solidify BMW’s position as the leading premium automotive brand in Singapore.”

The all-new BMW X3 heralds major improvements in efficiency and
dynamic performance with its wide-ranging model line-up. The portfolio
of powertrain comprises not just the highly efficient petrol engine.
With a hike in drive power to 293 kW/398 hp and dynamic performance
capabilities to eclipse its rivals, the all-new BMW X3 M50 xDrive M
Performance model offers a compelling proposition.

The new edition’s aura of modernity and enhanced product substance
provide the ideal basis for adding another chapter to the BMW X3
success story – one that first began 20 years ago. Since first
establishing the SAV segment in the premium midsize class, it has been
instrumental in the steady growth in popularity of the BMW X models
and, indeed, became the brand’s best-selling model in 2023. The
all-new BMW X3 is built at BMW Group Plant Spartanburg (USA) using a
production process focused on conserving resources and circularity.

New design language shines the spotlight on distinctive proportions.

A new design language for the exterior helps to give the fourth
generation of the all-new BMW X3 an almost monolithic overall
appearance with distinctive BMW X model proportions. Generously
proportioned surfaces combine with just a few, crisply defined lines
to produce a clearly structured exterior that has been reduced to the
essentials. The new BMW X3 is 34 millimetres longer than its
predecessor at 4,755 millimetres, while width has increased by 29
millimetres to 1,920 millimetres. Together with the 25-millimetre drop
in vehicle height to 1,660 millimetres and the wider tracks, this
produces a very powerful and sporty look.

The large BMW kidney grille in the upright front end of the all-new
BMW X3 gives off an air of assured presence. A new structure for the
grille interior, comprising vertically and diagonally arranged bars,
adds a fresh touch. The standard BMW Iconic Glow contour lighting
forms a continuous line around each element of the grille. The daytime
driving lights, side lights, and turn signal indicators in the LED
headlights are now all produced by L-shaped, overlapping light
sources. Adaptive LED Headlights with non-dazzling matrix high beam,
urban light and cornering light functions, plus blue design detailing
are standard, while M Shadowline lights are standard on the all-new
  BMW X3 M50 xDrive.

Bold side skirts and a roofline extending deep into the rear end are
the distinguishing features of the new model’s sporty silhouette. The
prominently flared wheel arches create the impression of considerable
width at the rear. The flush-mounted rear window is bordered by a long
roof spoiler and the adjoining side air deflectors. All model variants
aside from the all-new BMW X3 M50 xDrive come with exhaust tailpipes
integrated out of sight in the rear apron. The fresh interpretation of
the characteristic T-shaped graphic and a satinated horizontal bar
with integral turn signal indicators help to give the rear lights a
  very modern appearance.

The all-new BMW X3 is equipped as standard with aerodynamic wheels
measuring 19 inches in size. The all-new BMW X3 20 xDrive with M Sport
package creates an exceptionally dynamic look with features such as
20-inch M light-alloy wheels and bespoke design cues for optimising
airflow and aerodynamic balance. The M Sport package Pro, standard in
the all-new BMW X3 M50 xDrive, builds on this content by adding, among
other things, the Iconic Glow contour lighting and M Sport brakes with
  red painted callipers.

There is a choice of one solid and eight metallic shades for the
exterior paintwork of the all-new BMW X3, including the new Dune Grey
metallic finish. The all-new BMW X3 20 xDrive with M Sport package and
all-new BMW X3 M50 xDrive will additionally be available with BMW
Individual paint finishes, including two matt shimmering Frozen
options, as well as over 15 BMW Individual special paint finishes.

Sporty premium ambience and generous amounts of space.

The cabin of the all-new BMW X3 blends robust SAV functionality with
ample spaciousness and a premium ambience full of individual style.
The BMW Curved Display, BMW Interaction Bar, steering wheels with a
flatbottomed rim, and the new-look gear selector lever are the
defining elements of the cockpit’s modern take on hallmark BMW
driver-focused design. Other model-specific highlights include light
elements in a contrasting colour in the centre console and door trims.
This new design feature is located towards the front of the driver’s
and front passenger doors, where it forms a border around function
buttons, ventilation controllers, air vents, and the robust door
openers typically found on BMW X models. The interior’s individual
ambience goes hand in hand with generous amounts of space and modern
versatility. Load space can be increased from 570 to a maximum 1,700 litres.

The all-new BMW X3 is fitted as standard with newly designed
electrically adjustable sport seats in Veganza, and BMW Individual
Merino leather upholsteries as standard for the all-new BMW X3 M50
  xDrive respectively.

All-new BMW X3 M50 xDrive with standout performance qualities.

The range-topping model, the all-new BMW X3 M50 xDrive, features the
most powerful six-cylinder in-line petrol engine yet fitted in an M
Performance model. The 3.0-litre M TwinPower Turbo unit links up with
48V mild hybrid technology. Its maximum output of 293 kW/398 hp is
channelled to the road via an eight-speed Steptronic Sport
transmission and BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive. The all-new
BMW X3 M50 xDrive powers to 100 km/h from rest in 4.6 seconds.

This stunningly potent powertrain combines with the bespoke chassis
technology to deliver a compelling blend of agility, dynamism, and
handling precision. Adaptive M suspension with electronically
controlled dampers, variable sport steering, M Sport brakes, 21-inch M
light-alloy wheels and an M Sport differential integrated into the
rear axle all come as standard. M-specific design features, the M
kidney grille with horizontal bars and BMW Iconic Glow contour
lighting, and the quartet of exhaust tailpipes all serve to underline
the status of the BMW M model as the most powerful version of the
  all-new BMW X3.

  Systematic electrification, eight-speed Steptronic
transmission and BMW xDrive all-wheel drive as standard.

48V mild hybrid technology also endows all other variants of the
all-new BMW X3 with enhanced efficiency and rapid power delivery. It
enables the 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol unit in the all-new BMW X3
20 xDrive to generate maximum output of 140 kW/190 hp. This translates
  into a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time of 8.5 seconds.

All the power units link up with an eight-speed Steptronic
transmission including shift paddles on the steering wheel as
standard. There is also a Sport Boost function for exceptionally rapid
bursts of speed in the all-new BMW X3 20 xDrive with M Sport package
and in the all-new BMW X3 M50 xDrive. All model variants also benefit
from fully variable distribution of drive power via the BMW xDrive
  intelligent all-wheel-drive system as standard.

Agility and ride comfort up their game.

All model variants of the all-new BMW X3 boast driving qualities
offering a clearly noticeable increase in agility, cornering stability
and long-distance comfort over the outgoing model. A body with lower
weight but increased rigidity and the wider rear track both play a
role here, as do the high-quality chassis components and control
systems tuned for this specific model. Modifications to the kinematic
and elastokinematic properties of the double-joint spring strut front
axle and five-link rear axle have increased precision when turning
into corners, while the 19 per cent increase in the caster offset of
the steering axle is a boon for straight-line stability. Near-actuator
wheel slip limitation and the integrated braking system likewise form
part of the standard package of chassis technology.

Driving Assistant Plus and Parking Assistant Plus as standard.

The all-new BMW X3 offers a far more extensive range of standard
systems for semi-automated driving and parking. It is equipped as
standard with front collision warning, Lane Departure Warning and
Speed Limit Info, along with the Driving Assistant Plus including
Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Lane Change Warning and
Automatic Speed Limit Assist. The Parking Assistant Plus (also
standard) incorporates features such as the Reversing Assistant and a
surround view system with 360° view cameras.

More generous standard specification for greater comfort and
    driving pleasure.

The all-new BMW X3 also comes as standard with ambient lighting
featuring a Welcome and Goodbye Animation, a tray including wireless
charging function for compatible smartphones, a Bluetooth interface,
four USB-C ports, a 12V power socket in the centre console and another
  in the luggage compartment.

The standard BMW Live Cockpit Professional adds not only the BMW
Head-Up Display, but also the Augmented View function in the control
display. In addition to this, the all-new BMW X3 20 xDrive with M
Sport package and all-new BMW X3 M50 xDrive also comes with Harman
Kardon surround sound system as standard.

BMW Operating System 9, BMW iDrive with QuickSelect and BMW
    Digital Premium.

The all-new BMW X3 comes with the latest version of BMW iDrive with
QuickSelect to provide intuitive, easy control. Its new home screen
shows vertically arranged function icons on the same level. The
QuickSelect feature allows functions to be activated directly without
having to enter a submenu. The new BMW iDrive is geared squarely to
touch and voice control. It is based on BMW Operating System 9, which
also paves the way for a customisable selection of additional digital
services. These can be made available over the air, both via the BMW
ConnectedDrive Upgrades facility and thanks to an ever-expanding
variety of third-party apps offered as part of the optional BMW
  Digital Premium package.

BMW Digital Premium allows in-car use of the specific apps available
on a subscription basis. Besides music streaming, the portfolio
includes a wide choice of video streaming options on the control
display too. The video app in the all-new BMW X3 therefore offers
customers a large number of media libraries and streaming services.

Smartphone integration using Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ is
available as standard. The BMW ID and My BMW App make it easy to
personalise the user experience in the all-new BMW X3.

Boasting greater sporting appeal, visual impact and versatility than
ever, the new BMW X3 assumes the mantle of talented all-rounder for
everyday use, leisure activities and trips away in the brand’s core
segment. A new design language gives the fourth generation of the
Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) for the premium midsize segment much
enhanced exterior presence and an aura of dynamic grace. High-quality
materials, a far more generous standard specification, advanced
digitalisation and the new BMW iDrive with QuickSelect based on BMW
Operating System 9 set the tone for the premium ambience inside the
progressively designed cabin. Driving pleasure, safety and
long-distance comfort in the new BMW X3 also all benefit from the
exceptionally precise tuning of the overall vehicle setup and a wide
selection of semi-automated driving and parking systems.

The new BMW X3 heralds major improvements in efficiency and dynamic
performance with its wide-ranging model line-up. The portfolio of
powertrains comprises not just highly efficient petrol and diesel
engines, but also a latest-generation plug-in hybrid system that
enables the new BMW X3 30e xDrive (consumption, weighted and combined:
  24.0 – 22.3 kWh/100 km and 1.1 – 0.9 l/100 km [256.8 – 313.9 mpg imp];
  CO2 emissions, weighted and combined: 26 – 21 g/km in WLTP
  cycle; fuel consumption with battery empty: 7.9 – 7.2 l/100 km [35.8 –
39.2 mpg imp] in WLTP cycle; CO2 classes: with battery
empty G – F; weighted and combined B) to achieve an electric range of
  81 – 90 kilometres (50 – 56 miles) in the WLTP cycle. With a hike in
drive power to 293 kW/398 hp and dynamic performance capabilities to
eclipse its rivals, the new BMW X3 M50 xDrive M Performance model
  (fuel consumption, combined: 8.3 – 7.7 l/ 100 km [34.0 – 36.7 mpg
  imp]; CO2 emissions, combined: 189 – 175 g/km in WLTP
  cycle; CO2 class(es) G – F) offers a compelling proposition.

The new
BMW X3 will be built at BMW Group Plant Spartanburg (USA) and Plant
Rosslyn (South Africa) using a production process focused on
conserving resources and circularity. Its market launch will get
underway in Europe and the USA in the fourth quarter of 2024,
progressing across numerous other markets from January 2025.

New design language shines the spotlight on distinctive proportions.

A new design language for the exterior helps to give the fourth
generation of the BMW X3 an almost monolithic overall appearance with
distinctive BMW X model proportions. Generously proportioned surfaces
combine with just a few, crisply defined lines to produce a clearly
structured exterior that has been reduced to the essentials. The new
BMW X3 is 34 millimetres longer than its predecessor at
4,755 millimetres, while width has increased by 29 millimetres to
1,920 millimetres. Together with the 25‑millimetre drop in vehicle
height to 1,660 millimetres and the wider tracks, this produces a very
  powerful and sporty look.

The large BMW kidney grille in the upright front end of the new
BMW X3 gives off an air of assured presence. A new structure for the
grille interior, comprising vertically and diagonally arranged bars,
adds a fresh touch. The optional BMW Iconic Glow contour lighting
forms a continuous line around each element of the grille. The daytime
driving lights, side lights and turn signal indicators in the LED
headlights are now all produced by L-shaped, overlapping light
sources. Adaptive LED Headlights with non-dazzling matrix high beam,
urban light and cornering light functions, plus blue design detailing
are optionally available, as are M Shadowline lights.

All model variants
aside from the BMW X3 M50 xDrive come with exhaust tailpipes
integrated out of sight in the rear apron. The fresh interpretation of
the characteristic T-shaped graphic and a satinated horizontal bar
with integral turn signal indicators help to give the rear lights a
  very modern appearance.

There is a choice of one solid and eight metallic shades for the
exterior paintwork of the new BMW X3, including the new Dune Grey
metallic finish. Models produced at BMW Group Plant Spartanburg will
additionally be available with BMW Individual paint finishes,
including two matt shimmering Frozen options, as well as over 15
  BMW Individual special paint finishes.

The new BMW X3 is equipped as standard with light-alloy wheels
measuring 18 inches in size (BMW X3 30e xDrive: 19 inches), with a
selection of 20-inch and 21-inch items also available as
factory-fitted options. The optional M Sport package creates an
exceptionally dynamic look with features such as 19-inch M light-alloy
wheels and bespoke design cues for optimising airflow and aerodynamic
balance. The M Sport package Pro builds on this content by adding,
among other things, the Iconic Glow contour lighting and M Sport
  brakes with red-painted callipers.

Sporty premium ambience and generous amounts of space.

The cabin of the new BMW X3 blends robust SAV functionality with
ample spaciousness and a premium ambience full of individual style.
The BMW Curved Display, BMW Interaction Bar, steering wheels with a
flat-bottomed rim and the new-look gear selector lever are the
defining elements of the cockpit’s modern take on hallmark BMW
driver-focused design. Other model-specific highlights include light
elements in a contrasting colour in the centre console and door trims.
This new design feature is located towards the front of the driver’s
and front passenger doors, where it forms a border around function
buttons, ventilation controllers, air vents and the robust door
openers typically found on BMW X models.

The interior’s individual ambience goes hand in hand with generous
amounts of space and modern versatility. Load space can be increased
  from 570 to a maximum 1,700 litres (BMW X3 30e xDrive: 460 –
1,600 litres). A trailer coupling that extends and retracts again
electrically can be specified as an option. The maximum permitted
trailer load is 2,500 kilograms, depending on the model variant.

The new BMW X3 is fitted as standard with newly designed electrically
adjustable and heated sport seats upholstered in Econeer, with
surfaces and cushioning made from secondary material. Veganza and BMW
Individual Merino leather upholsteries are both available as an
option. Making its debut for a BMW model is the optional Luxury
instrument panel made from recycled polyester with a high-class
  knitted texture.

Plug-in hybrid with significantly longer electric range.

The drive system in the BMW X3 30e xDrive plug-in hybrid is made up
of a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine partnered with an electric
motor integrated into the eight-speed Steptronic transmission. These
join forces to generate system output of up to 220 kW/299 hp.

Helped by latest-generation BMW eDrive technology and adaptive
recuperation, the new BMW X3 30e xDrive achieves an electric range of
  81 – 90 kilometres (50 – 56 miles) in the WLTP cycle, which is
considerably longer than its predecessor could offer. Its Combined
Charging Unit enables AC charging at 11 kW as standard. The
plug-in-hybrid model also comes prepared for smart charging with the
  Connected Home Charging option.

BMW X3 M50 xDrive with standout performance qualities.

The range-topping model, the new BMW X3 M50 xDrive, features the most
powerful six-cylinder in-line petrol engine yet fitted in an M
Performance model. The 3.0-litre M TwinPower Turbo unit links up with
48V mild hybrid technology. Its maximum output of 293 kW/398 hp is
channelled to the road via an eight-speed Steptronic Sport
transmission and BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive. The
BMW X3 M50 xDrive powers to 100 km/h (62 mph) from rest in 4.6 seconds.

This stunningly potent powertrain combines with the bespoke chassis
technology to deliver a compelling blend of agility, dynamism and
handling precision. M Sport suspension with variable sport steering,
  M Sport brakes, 20-inch M light-alloy wheels and an M Sport
differential integrated into the rear axle all come as standard. There
is also the option of adaptive M suspension with electronically
controlled dampers. M-specific design features, the M kidney grille
with horizontal bars and BMW Iconic Glow contour lighting, and the
quartet of exhaust tailpipes all serve to underline the status of the
BMW M model as the most powerful version of the new BMW X3.

Systematic electrification for petrol and diesel engines,
eight-speed Steptronic transmission and BMW xDrive all-wheel drive
    as standard.

48V mild hybrid technology also endows all other variants of the new
BMW X3 with enhanced efficiency and rapid power delivery. It enables
the 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol unit in the new BMW X3 20 xDrive
  (fuel consumption, combined: 7.6 – 6.9 l/100 km [37.2 – 40.9 mpg imp];
  CO<sub>2</sub> emissions, combined: 172 – 156 g/km in WLTP cycle;
CO2 class: F) to generate maximum output of 153 kW/208 hp.
This translates into a 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration time of 7.8 seconds.

The four-cylinder diesel engine, also with a displacement of
2.0 litres, under the bonnet of the new BMW X3 20d xDrive (fuel
  consumption, combined: 6.5 – 5.8 l/100 km [43.5 – 48.7 mpg imp];
  CO<sub>2</sub> emissions, combined: 171 – 153 g/km in WLTP cycle;
  CO2 classes: F – E) posts maximum output of 145 kW/197 hp.
The diesel model completes the 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint in
7.7 seconds. A six-cylinder in-line diesel engine will be added to the
line-up for the new BMW X3 in summer 2025.

All the power units link up with an eight-speed Steptronic
transmission including shift paddles on the steering wheel as
standard. There is also a Sport Boost function for exceptionally rapid
bursts of speed in models specified with the M Sport package and in
the new BMW X3 M50 xDrive. All model variants also benefit from fully
variable distribution of drive power via the BMW xDrive intelligent
  all-wheel-drive system as standard.

Agility and ride comfort up their game.

All model variants of the new BMW X3 boast driving qualities offering
a clearly noticeable increase in agility, cornering stability and
long-distance comfort over the outgoing model.

Customers looking for even more dynamic prowess can choose the
optional M Sport suspension including sport steering and M Sport
brakes (both standard for the new BMW X3 M50 xDrive). Adaptive
suspension – also to be found on the options list – sharpens the
agility of the new BMW X3 at the same time as increasing ride comfort.

Driving Assistant and Parking Assistant as standard.

The new BMW X3 offers a far more extensive range of standard and
optional systems for semi-automated driving and parking. It is
equipped as standard with front collision warning, Lane Departure
Warning and Speed Limit Info, along with the Driving Assistant
including Lane Change Warning and manual Speed Limit Assist. The

Munich/Miramas. At the end of series development, the
new BMW X3 undergoes final tuning of all chassis control and driver
assistance systems at the BMW Group test centre in Miramas, southern
France. The fourth generation of the Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) in
the premium mid-range vehicle segment will be presented in a few
weeks' time with both highly efficient combustion engines and an
advanced plug-in hybrid drive. The development and test engineers
ensure that all model variants of the new BMW X3, regardless of drive
concept and weight, demonstrate superior handling in every situation
with an intensive tuning programme. The well-coordinated functionality
of all automated driving and parking systems in the new BMW X3 also
contributes to a harmonious customer experience.

The new BMW X3 has already undergone extensive testing on snow and
ice, in extremely hot regions and off-road on its way to series
production. The SAV's suitability for everyday use and travelling was
tested and refined in urban stop-and-go traffic as well as on winding
country roads, highways and selected race tracks.

Perfectly coordinated systems for a typical BMW driving experience.

The development engineers use the versatile test track in Miramas to
put the finishing touches to the driving experience of the new BMW X3.
In addition to an asphalt oval and a highway ring, there are also
slalom, serpentine and circular tracks as well as off-road courses and
handling courses with different road surfaces. This allows the
longitudinal and lateral acceleration, suspension and damping,
steering precision and braking behaviour of the new BMW X3 to be
analysed and optimised down to the last detail.

The driving dynamics and efficiency of the new BMW X3 benefit from
intelligent lightweight construction and optimised aerodynamic
properties. With a drag coefficient (Cd) of 0.27, it sets
new standards in its competitive environment.

Compared to its predecessor, the new BMW X3 also has a wider track
and reduced lift at the rear axle. In addition, the rigidity of the
body and the chassis connection has been increased. Targeted
improvements to the kinematics and elastokinematics of both axles,
combined with a 19 per cent increase in the caster of the front
wheels, ensure noticeably improved directional stability. A more
direct steering ratio enhances steering comfort, while extensively
modified anti-roll bars improve cornering dynamics without
  compromising ride comfort.

An Adaptive Chassis with electronically controlled shock absorbers is
available as an option for the new BMW X3. The final tuning is part of
the driving dynamics test at Miramas and offers two maps that can be
selected via My Modes. In addition, the new version of the SAV comes
as standard with the latest version of BMW Lateral Dynamics
Management, which ensures precise control of the required steering
torques, the actuator-based wheel slip limitation and the yaw torque
distribution of Performance Control, adapted to the driving situation
  at all times.

Thanks to BMW's unique development expertise, all components and
systems of the drive and chassis technology are perfectly matched. The
result is the characteristic combination of precision, sovereignty and
versatility that characterises the driving experience in a BMW SAV.

Automated driving is also optimised by BMW's typical level of integration.

The new BMW X3 features the latest BMW iDrive based on the BMW
Operating System 9 including BMW iDrive Controller and offers a
significantly expanded selection of systems for automated driving and
parking compared to the predecessor model. With its standard
equipment, it clearly exceeds the requirements of the Euro NCAP safety
test. The particularly sensitive braking and steering interventions of
the assistance systems compared to the competition are another example
of the unique integration performance of BMW riving dynamics
development. They enable harmonious interaction between driver and
  vehicle in every situation.

The outstanding functionality of all assistance systems is based on
state-of-the-art sensor technology as well as software, processor and
network technology. Highlights in the new BMW X3 include the Active
Lane Change Assistant and the Parking and Manoeuvre Assistant, which
allows the driver to control manoeuvres from outside the vehicle using
  a smartphone.

Singapore. BMW Asia, Performance Motors Limited and
Performance Munich Autos today announced the availability of the new
BMW X3 and BMW X4. For the second phase of the model cycle, BMW has
refreshed its successful Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) BMW and the
Sports Activity Coupé (SAC) BMW with a new look, improved equipment
and a range structure which has been optimised for customers. The
redesigned front end and revised rear section lend even clearer
emphasis to the robust off-road look and sporty appearance of the
third-generation BMW X3. Its coupé counterpart, the second-generation
BMW X4, adopts the new front end, adds its own accentuation with the
exclusive BMW mesh kidney grille and offers a particularly dynamic
rear end. The refresh is rounded off with a modern interior with new
equipment features and updated infotainment. BMW M GmbH has also
upgraded the M models of the BMW X3 and BMW X4 at the same time.

Modern drive technology and a clearer product structure.

The introduction of mild hybrid technology with a 48-volt-starter
generator ensures a broad drive portfolio at the cutting edge of
technology. These include the new BMW X3 xDrive30e and, at the top of
the range, high-performance models from BMW M GmbH. In Singapore, the
new BMW X3 and BMW X4 are fitted with the all-wheel drive system BMW
xDrive as standard. A new range structure ensures a greater focus on
sportiness and “X-ness” as well as enhanced clarity through deliberate
reduction. The M Sport package and the familiar M variants are
available as an alternative to the standard equipment enriched with
high-quality X elements. The new BMW X3 and BMW X4 are produced at the
  Spartanburg plant in the USA.

New BMW X3 with classic X elements and sporty genes.

The new BMW X3 has a more modern appearance that conveys a more
powerful presence, with design changes to the front and rear and an
emphasis on classic X-elements. The BMW kidney grille and headlights
have been redesigned along with the front apron and rear bumper, while
new graphics have been applied to the rear lights. High-quality X
elements such as underbody protection and specific side skirts in the
style of the previous X Line are already standard. The sporty genes of
the SAV are underlined by the M Sport package and the new BMW X3 M40i.

New BMW kidney grille and flatter headlights.

With the redesigned BMW kidney grille, headlights that are around ten
millimetres flatter and the new front apron, the new BMW X3 looks
almost like a new vehicle. More strikingly shaped, especially in the
upper area, the BMW kidney grille is larger than before and now
comprises a single-piece frame. A black bar in which the iCam is
positioned if fitted ensures visual separation of the grille. The
front headlights feature adaptive LED headlights with Matrix function,
where the adverse weather light takes on the function of the
previously separate fog lights while the BMW Laser Light with a range
of up to 650 metres is now also available as an optional extra.

Front apron and rear apron redesigned.

Below the headlights, vertical air intakes arranged in a triangular
interpretation frame the front bumper. In the new front apron, taut
and amply-sized surfaces in body colour and the robust underbody
protection reinforce the presence and high-quality aura of the SAV.
The new BMW X3 xDrive30e with plug-in hybrid drive also bears an
“electrified by i” emblem on the front wing, while an additional blue
ring adorns all BMW logos on this engine version, including those on
the wheel hub covers. The rear section of the new BMW X3 offers
greater clarity as a result of various measures. A black border gives
the full LED rear lights a more precise appearance, while the narrower
light graphic now includes a three-dimensionally modelled pincer
  contour and

horizontal turn signals integrated in filigree style. The emphasis on
horizontal lines, for example in the concave area at the lower end of
the tailgate, contributes to the tidy impression of the rear. The
newly designed and elaborately painted underbody protection provides a
powerful finish to the road. The new, flush-fitting free-form tailpipe
trims are larger and sportier, conveying a more powerful presence.

M Sport package with specific exterior details.

The M Sport package gives the new BMW X3 a sportier orientation. The
specific front apron features significantly larger air inlets and
inserts finished in high-gloss black, as well as more pronounced air
curtains. The window graphics, roof rails and BMW kidney frame and
bars are optionally available in high-gloss black. The sportier rear
bumper includes a more striking diffuser finished in Dark Shadow along
with two additional side air-curtain-panels in high-gloss black. The
standard trim includes the new 19-inch Y-Spoke 887M alloy wheel in
Midnight Grey Bicolor with 245/50 R19 tyres. Additional wheels in 20
inches (standard on the new BMW X3 xDrive30i M Sport) and 21 inches
(standard on the new BMW X3 M40i) are available as an option, as well
as the M Sport brake with blue or red brake calipers.

Further M insignia in the M Performance cars.

Further visual differentiation is offered by the new BMW X3 M40i,
which shows its affiliation to the BMW M GmbH portfolio with a
specific BMW M kidney. In addition to a chrome frame, it bears the
typical M double grille bars in high-gloss black and with an M logo.
While the same aprons as in the M Sport package are to be found at the
front and rear, the aerodynamically optimised M exterior mirrors in
high-gloss black, the free-form tailpipe trims in black chrome and the
striking “Two Teeth” design ensure a distinctive look. The new BMW X3
M40i is fitted as standard with 21-inch M light alloy wheels
double-spoke 718M in Bicolour with the mixed tyres 245/45 R21 at the
front and 275/40 R21 at the rear.

BMW mesh kidney grille as an exclusive distinguishing feature
    of the new BMW X4.

The new BMW X4 adopts the new front end of the new BMW X3, but adds
an exclusive distinguishing feature in the form of the mesh kidney
familiar from other sporty BMW models. Just like the new BMW X3, the
adaptive LED headlights with Matrix function are also standard, while
the BMW Laser Light, which is particularly light-intensive and has a
long range, is also available as an option for the new BMW X4.
Featuring flat full LED rear lights that emphasise the vehicle width
and protrude strikingly from the vehicle body in their
three-dimensional design, the rear section now has an even more
clear-cut shape in the new BMW X4 revision. The new rear apron has a
tidier appearance, with an increased proportion of painted surface and
reflectors now placed vertically and lower in the bumper. The wide
free-form tailpipe trims echo the horizontal lines of the upper section.

M Sport package with striking rear apron in the new BMW X4.

In M Sport guise, the frame and inserts of the new BMW X4’s kidney
grille can be painted in high-gloss black on request. In addition, the
car comes with a new rear apron with a wide, offset insert in the
shape of an anvil. Like the side air-curtain-panels, this is finished
in high-gloss black and gives a powerful overall impression that is
distinctly road-oriented. As with the new BMW X3, the M Sport package
includes the new 19-inch alloy wheel Y-Spoke 887M in Midnight Grey
Bicolor with 245/50 R19 tyres as standard. Additional 20-inch
(standard on the new BMW X4 xDrive30i M Sport) and 21-inch wheels
(standard on the new BMW X4 M40i) and the M Sport brake are available
  as options.

BMW M insignia for the new BMW X4 M40i.

The new BMW X4 M40i is based on the appearance and standard equipment
of the corresponding BMW X3 model and bears typical BMW M insignia
such as the specific BMW M kidney with chrome frame, double kidney
bars in high-gloss black and M logo as well as the aerodynamically
optimised M exterior mirrors in high-gloss black. The rear apron with
its anvil-shaped insert is complemented by air curtain trim in
high-gloss black. Analogous to the new BMW X3 M40i are the free-form
tailpipe trims in black chrome with the two "teeth" and the tyres.

11 paint finishes for the new BMW X3 and one exclusively for
    the new BMW X4.

Following the redesign of the BMW X3, BMW offers a total of 11 paint
finishes in the regular range. The metallic paint finish Skyscraper
Grey is new, and as is M Brooklyn Grey metallic from the M Sport
package upwards, along with the two BMW Individual paint finishes
Aventurine Red and Tanzanite Blue. The new metallic finish Piedmont
Red is available exclusively for the new BMW X4. For the first time,
there is also a choice of numerous special BMW Individual paint
finishes for the two models, including matt finishes such as Frozen
Deep Grey. The range of special finishes available is to be further
  expanded in the future.

  Significantly revised interior.

The new BMW X3 and BMW X4 adopt the centre console of the current BMW
4 Series. The free-standing, central Control Display with touch
function now comes standard with a screen diagonal of 12.3 inches in
all vehicles. The significantly improved standard equipment now also
includes Leather Vernasca sports seats, as well as automatic climate
control with 3-zone control. In order to make the vehicle
configuration process clearer and more straightforward for customers,
not least reducing the number of conflicts, the complexity of the
equipment lines and optional extras has deliberately been reduced by
30 per cent. In addition to the cupholder and a model-specific emblem,
the centre console accommodates the newly designed control island with
the gear selector lever, buttons for the start/stop system, the
electric parking brake, hill descent control and various driving
experience functions as well as the BMW Controller. The engine start
button is positioned here, too. New electroplated trim elements on the
air vents add a touch of elegance while emphasising the horizontal
lines in the interior. Additional functions are offered by the
standard Ambient Light, which features contour lighting above the
decorative trim in the dashboard and ambient lighting that shines
gently downwards below the accent trim to create a particularly
high-quality, relaxing atmosphere in the interior.

  Hybrid technology for all engines.

The new BMW X3 and BMW X4 demonstrate increasing electrification with
modern hybrid technology in connection with all the drive systems
available in Singapore. In addition to the BMW X3 xDrive30e with
plug-in hybrid drive, which has been in production since December
2019, all 4-cylinder and 6-cylinder engines in the two model series
now use 48-volt mild hybrid technology, including a 48-volt-starter
generator, ensuring even better driving performance with lower fuel
consumption and increased driving comfort. The energy obtained by
means of recuperation and stored in the 48-volt battery can also be
used for an electric boost of 8 kW/11 hp in addition to supplying the
  12-volt on-board network.

  Three petrol engines on offer.

Three drive options are available in Singapore for the new BMW X3 and
  BMW X4, covering a power range from 135 kW/184 hp to 265 kW/360 hp.
These include the new BMW X3 xDrive20i and the new BMW X4 xDrive20i
with 135 kW/184 hp, the new BMW X3 xDrive30i and the new BMW X4
xDrive30i with 180 kW/245 hp and the new BMW X3 M40i and new BMW X4
  M40i with 265 kW/360 hp.

Plug-in hybrid with an electric range of up to 50 kilometres.

The new BMW X3 xDrive30e plug-in hybrid model is reserved for the
SAV. Its system consists of a 4-cylinder petrol engine combined with
an electric motor whose power is transmitted to all four wheels. Their
joint system output of 215 kW/292 hp can be increased by up to 30
kW/41 hp by temporary use of the electric motor’s peak output. It has
a lithium-ion high-voltage battery that enables a range of up to 50 kilometres.

8-speed Steptronic transmission and BMW xDrive as standard.

The new xDrive20i models are combined with 8-speed Steptronic
gearboxes specifically matched to the respective engine
characteristics while the new xDrive30i, xDrive30e and M40i models
feature the 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission including paddle
shifts and Launch Control as standard. BMW xDrive all-wheel drive
makes a significant contribution to the versatile sporty flair of the
new BMW X3 and BMW X4. Its precise electronic control ensures
especially sporty power distribution that is typical of the brand. Its
rear-wheel orientation makes dynamic cornering in particular an
especially intense experience. In addition, BMW xDrive optimises both
driving stability and traction over rough terrain.

Driving Assistant Professional available for the first time.

In refreshing the BMW X3 and BMW X4, BMW has reorganised and once
again significantly expanded the range of modern driver assistance
systems to enhance both comfort and safety. The Driving Assistant
Professional, available for the first time as an option in these model
series, offers the driver comfortable relief and increased safety in
driving situations where there is a conscious desire for assistance.
The 3D environment visualisation Assisted View in the instrument
cluster provides an overview of which Driving Assistant Professional
assistance systems are activated and what functions they offer.

The cars come with functions such as Lane Departure Warning, plus
Collision and Pedestrian Warning with City Braking function, the
latest version of which also alerts the driver when a cyclist is
detected, and Driving Assistant with Lane Change Warning, Rear
Collision Prevention and Cross-Traffic Alert. The standard-fit Parking
Assistant package also includes the Reversing Assistant, which helps
retrace a completed line (50 metres) in reverse with the driver being
able to keep a watchful eye via the surround view system. Another new
feature in the new BMW X3 and BMW X4 is the optional BMW Drive
Recorder, which takes videos around the vehicle.

BMW Live Cockpit Professional with 12.3-inch display as standard.

With the BMW Live Cockpit Professional as standard and intelligent
networking including innovative digital services based on BMW
Operating System 7, the new BMW X3 and BMW X4 now offer particularly
close interaction between driver and vehicle. The BMW Live Cockpit
Professional offers a fully digital display network: the
high-resolution instrument cluster behind the steering wheel and the
Control Display each have a screen diagonal of 12.3 inches.

Smartphone connectivity and integration of third-party services.

The BMW Live Cockpit Professional also features optimised wireless
smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay. Here, the driver can view
all the important information from the apps on the Control Display and
  – in intelligently processed form – in the instrument cluster and the
optional BMW Head-Up Display (standard on the new xDrive30i and M40i models).

With Android Auto™, the BMW Group has added another customer-relevant
service to its range of seamless in-vehicle connectivity, offering
easy and safe use of smartphone functions such as music, media or
messaging apps while driving. Highlights of the interaction between
Android Auto and BMW include convenient and wireless networking and
the intelligent integration of Google Maps™ navigation instructions in
  the BMW Head-up Display.

In addition, the My BMW App is a universal interface to the vehicle.
It offers information on the state of the vehicle at all times and,
depending on the options fitted, enables remote access functions such
as vehicle location, locking and unlocking the doors or recording the
vehicle’s surroundings via the Remote 3D View function (standard on
  the new M40i models).

Enhanced functionality for the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant.

The BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant is also constantly gaining
additional capabilities in the new BMW X3 and BMW X4, creating an even
more intensive bond between driver and vehicle. With the digital
companion, naturally spoken instructions can now be used to regulate
the air conditioning, open and close the windows or change the driving
experience switch modes, for instance. It can also access the new News
app, which reads out the latest news to passengers, and learn routines
that increase comfort and driving pleasure in certain situations.

  Remote Software Upgrade updates “over-the-air”.

Since 2018 and the introduction of BMW Operating System 7, it has
been possible for drivers of BMW models to keep their vehicle
constantly up to date with the latest software status using Remote
Software Upgrade. In the new BMW X3 and BMW X4, too, upgrades can
include different content from new services to improved vehicle
features and can be loaded "over-the-air". Furthermore,
intelligent networking offers the option to integrate additional
functions into the vehicle at a later date. The options that can be
retrofitted digitally include the high beam assistant and BMW Drive Recorder.

The new BMW X3 and BMW X4 are now available for viewing at the
Performance Motors Limited and Performance Munich Autos showrooms.

Sportier, more modern and more digital. For the second phase of the
model cycle, BMW has refreshed its successful Sports Activity
Vehicle (SAV) BMW and the Sports Activity Coupé (SAC) BMW with a new
look, improved equipment and a range structure which has been
optimised for customers. The redesigned front end and revised rear
section lend even clearer emphasis to the robust off-road look and
sporty appearance of the third-generation BMW X3. Its coupé
counterpart, the second-generation BMW X4, adopts the new front end,
adds its own accentuation with the exclusive BMW mesh kidney grille
and offers a particularly dynamic rear end. The refresh is rounded
off with a modern interior with new equipment features and updated
infotainment. BMW M GmbH is also upgrading the M models of the BMW
X3 and BMW X4 at the same time (see here).

Modern drive technology and a clearer product structure.
The introduction of mild hybrid technology with
48-‑volt‑starter generator now also with all petrol engines ensures
a broad drive portfolio at the cutting edge of technology. These
include the BMW X3 xDrive30e (combined fuel consumption, weighted:
2.6 – 2.0 l/100 km according to WLTP; combined power consumption,
weighted: 20.5 – 18.9 kWh/100 km according to WLTP; combined
    CO2 emissions, weighted: 59 – 45 g/km according to WLTP)
and, at the top of the range, particularly high-performance petrol
and diesel models from BMW M GmbH. In Germany, all BMW X3 and BMW X4
are fitted with the all-wheel drive system BMW xDrive as standard. A
new range structure ensures a greater focus on sportiness and
“X-ness” as well as enhanced clarity through deliberate reduction.
The M sports package and the familiar M variants are available as an
alternative to the standard equipment enriched with high-quality X
elements. The market launch will get underway in summer 2021,
following the start of production at the Spartanburg plant (USA) in
August 2021. The new BMW X3 and the new BMW X4 are due to see their
world premiere at the Chengdu Motor Show in China (27 August to 5
September), while the European premiere will take place at the IAA
in Munich (7 to 12 September).

BMW X3 with classic X elements and sporty genes.
The new BMW X3 has a more modern appearance that conveys a
more powerful presence, with design changes to the front and rear
and an emphasis on classic X‑elements. The BMW kidney grille and
headlights have been redesigned along with the front apron and rear
bumper, while new graphics have been applied to the rear lights.
High-quality X elements such as underbody protection and specific
side skirts in the style of the previous X Line are already
standard. The sporty genes of the Sports Activity Vehicle are
underlined by the M sports package and the BMW X3 M40i (combined
fuel consumption: 9.5 – 8.8 l/100 km according to WLTP; combined
    CO2‑emissions: 216 – 199 g/km according to WLTP) and the
    BMW X3 M40d (combined fuel consumption: 7.3 – 6.6 l/100 km according
    to WLTP; combined CO2‑emissions: 192 – 173 g/km according
    to WLTP).

New BMW kidney grille and flatter
    headlights.
With the redesigned BMW kidney grille,
headlights that are around ten millimetres flatter and the new front
apron, the BMW X3 looks almost like a new vehicle. More strikingly
shaped, especially in the upper area, the BMW kidney grille is
larger than before and now comprises a single-piece frame. A black
bar in which the iCam is positioned if fitted ensures visual
separation of the grille. The front headlights feature full LED
technology as standard. In addition to the optional adaptive LED
headlights with Matrix function, where the adverse weather light
takes on the function of the previously separate fog lights, the BMW
Laser Light with a range of up to 650 metres is now also available
    as an optional extra.

Front apron and rear apron redesigned.
Below the headlights, vertical air intakes arranged in a
triangular interpretation frame the front bumper. In the new front
apron, taut and amply-sized surfaces in body colour and the robust
underbody protection reinforce the presence and high-quality aura of
the SAV. The BMW X3 xDrive30e with plug-in hybrid drive also bears
an “electrified by i” emblem on the front wing, while an additional
blue ring adorns all BMW logos on this engine version, including
those on the wheel hub covers. The rear section of the new BMW X3
offers greater clarity as a result of various measures. A black
border gives the full LED rear lights a more precise appearance,
while the narrower light graphic now includes a three-dimensionally
modelled pincer contour and horizontal turn signals integrated in
filigree style. The emphasis on horizontal lines, for example in the
concave area at the lower end of the tailgate, contributes to the
tidy impression of the rear. The newly designed and elaborately
painted underbody protection provides a powerful finish to the road.
The new, flush-fitting free-form tailpipe trims are larger and
sportier, conveying a more powerful presence.

M sports package with specific exterior details.
The M sports package gives the BMW X3 a sportier orientation.
The specific front apron features significantly larger air inlets
and inserts finished in high-gloss black, as well as more pronounced
air curtains. The window graphics, roof rails and BMW kidney frame
and bars are optionally available in high-gloss black. The sportier
rear bumper includes a more striking diffuser finished in Dark
Shadow along with two additional side air‑curtain‑panels in
high-gloss black. The standard trim includes the new 19-inch Y‑Spoke
887M alloy wheel in Midnight Grey Bicolor with 245/50 R19 tyres.
Additional wheels in 20 inch and 21 inch are available as an option,
as well as the M sports brake with blue or red brake calipers.

Further M insignia in the M Performance cars.
Further visual differentiation is offered by the BMW X3 M40i
and the BMW X3 M40d, which show their affiliation to the BMW M GmbH
portfolio with a specific BMW M kidney. In addition to a chrome
frame, it bears the typical M double grille bars in high-gloss black
and with an M logo. While the same aprons as in the M sports package
are to be found at the front and rear, the aerodynamically optimised
M exterior mirrors in high-gloss black, the free-form tailpipe trims
in black chrome and the striking “Two Teeth” design ensure a
distinctive look. The BMW X3 M40i and BMW X3 M40d are fitted as
standard with 20‑inch M light alloy wheels double-spoke 699M in
Orbit Grey with the mixed tyres 245/45 R20 at the front and 275/40
R20 at the rear. As an optional extra, these wheels are available in
Jet Black, while other exclusive options include the 21-inch M light
alloy wheels double spoke 718M in Jet Black burnished.

BMW mesh kidney grille as an exclusive distinguishing
      feature of the BMW X4.
The BMW X4 adopts the new front end of the BMW X3, but adds an
exclusive distinguishing feature in the form of the mesh kidney
familiar from other sporty BMW models. Compared to the BMW X3, the
adaptive LED headlights with Matrix function are already standard,
while the BMW Laser Light, which is particularly light-intensive and
has a long range, is also available as an option for the BMW X4.
Featuring flat full LED rear lights that emphasise the vehicle width
and protrude strikingly from the vehicle body in their
three-dimensional design, the rear section now has an even more
clear-cut shape in the BMW X4 revision. The new rear apron has a
tidier appearance, with an increased proportion of painted surface
and reflectors now placed vertically and lower in the bumper. The
wide free-form tailpipe trims echo the horizontal lines of the upper section.

M sports package with striking rear apron in the BMW X4.
From the M sports package onwards, the BMW X4 features the
BMW mesh kidney, the frame and inserts of which are painted in
high‑gloss black on request, as well as a new rear apron with a
wide, offset insert in the shape of an anvil. Like the side
air‑curtain‑panels, this is finished in high-gloss black and gives a
powerful overall impression that is distinctly road-oriented. As
with the BMW X3, the M sports package includes the new 19-inch alloy
wheel Y‑-Spoke 887M in Midnight Grey Bicolor with 245/50 R19 tyres
as standard. Additional 20-inch and 21-inch wheels and the M sports
    brake are available as options.

    BMW M insignia for the BMW X4 M40i and BMW X4 M40d.
The BMW X4 M40i (combined fuel consumption: 9.5 – 8.7 l/100 km
    according to WLTP; combined CO2‑emissions: 215 – 198 g/km
according to WLTP) and the BMW X4 M40d (combined fuel
consumption: 7.3 – 6.6 l/100 km according to WLTP; combined
    CO2‑emissions: 190 – 171 g/km according to WLTP) are
based on the appearance and standard equipment of the corresponding
X3 models and, like these, bear typical BMW M insignia such as
the specific BMW M kidney with chrome frame, double kidney bars in
high‑gloss black and M logo as well as the aerodynamically optimised
M exterior mirrors in high-gloss black. The rear apron with its
anvil-shaped insert is complemented by air curtain trim in
high-gloss black. Analogous to the BMW X3 M40i and BMW X3 M40d are
the free-form tailpipe trims in black chrome with the two
    "teeth" and the tyres.

Eleven paint finishes for the BMW X3 and one exclusively for the BMW X4.
Following the redesign of the BMW X3, BMW offers a total of
eleven paint finishes in the regular range. The metallic paint
finish Skyscraper Grey (from 12/21) is new, and as is M Brooklyn
Grey metallic from the M sports package upwards, along with the two
BMW Individual paint finishes Aventurine Red and Tanzanite Blue. The
new metallic finish Piedmont Red is available exclusively for the
BMW X4. For the first time there is also a choice of numerous
special BMW Individual paint finishes for the two models, including
matt finishes such as Frozen Deep Grey. The range of special
finishes available is to be further expanded in the future.

    Significantly revised interior.
The new BMW X3 and the new BMW X4 adopt the centre console
of the current BMW 4 Series. The free-standing, central Control
Display with touch function now offers a screen diagonal of 10.25
inches as standard in all vehicles. A 12.3-inch version of the touch
display is also available as an option. The significantly improved
standard equipment now also includes sports seats with covers from a
new Sensatec generation in the new Ray grain and with perforated
main seat surfaces, as well as automatic climate control with 3-zone
control. In order to make the vehicle configuration process clearer
and more straightforward for customers, not least reducing the
number of conflicts, the complexity of the equipment lines and
optional extras has deliberately been reduced by 30 per cent. In
addition to the cupholder and a model-specific emblem, the centre
console accommodates the newly designed control island with the gear
selector lever, buttons for the start/stop system, the electric
parking brake, hill descent control and various driving experience
functions as well as the BMW Controller. The engine start button is
positioned here, too. New electroplated trim elements on the air
vents add a touch of elegance while emphasising the horizontal lines
in the interior. Additional functions are offered by the optional
extra Ambient Light, which features contour lighting above the
decorative trim in the dashboard and ambient lighting that shines
gently downwards below the accent trim to create a particularly
high-quality, relaxing atmosphere in the interior.

    Hybrid technology for all engines.
The new BMW X3 and the new BMW X4 demonstrate increasing
electrification with modern hybrid technology in connection with
all seven drive systems available in Germany. In addition to the
BMW X3 xDrive30e with plug-in hybrid drive, which has been in
production since December 2019, all 4-cylinder and 6-cylinder
engines in the two model series now use 48-volt mild hybrid
technology. After the three available diesel engines were converted
to the mild‑hybrid‑system in the course of 2020, the three petrol
engines are now also being fitted with this technology including a
48‑-volt‑starter generator, ensuring even better driving performance
with lower fuel consumption and increased driving comfort. The
energy obtained by means of recuperation and stored in the 48-volt
battery can also be used for an electric boost of 8 kW/11 hp in
addition to supplying the 12‑volt on-board network.

Three diesel and three petrol engines on offer.
Seven drive options are available in Germany for the new BMW

Fully electric mobility celebrates its premiere in a BMW X model –
the new BMW iX3 (fuel consumption combined in the
NEDC test cycle: 0.0 l/100 km; electric power consumption combined:
    17.8 – 17.5 kWh/100 km; CO<sub>2</sub> emissions combined: 0 g/km;
    fuel consumption combined in the WLTP test cycle: 0.0 l/100 km;
    electric power consumption combined: 19.5 – 18.5 kWh/100 km;
    CO2 emissions combined: 0 g/km). Locally emission-free
driving pleasure complements the sporting ability for which BMW is
renowned and the comfort, multi‑faceted functionality and
spaciousness of the successful BMW X3. Latest stage in the ongoing
rollout of the BMW Group’s electrification strategy; technological
expertise amassed in the development of BMW i cars utilised for the
first time in a purely electrically powered model from the BMW core brand.

New BMW iX3 will be the brand’s first model to also be produced
for export at the Shenyang manufacturing facility in China. Market
launch will begin in China later in 2020.

Strategic “Power of Choice” approach covers broad spread of
customer requirements and statutory regulations around the world:
BMW X3 is the first model to be available with a petrol or diesel
engine, plug-in hybrid drive system or all-electric drive system.

New BMW iX3 blazes a trail for fifth-generation BMW eDrive
technology. Major progress made in terms of power density, operating
range, weight, installation space requirement and flexibility. Power
density of the electric drive system increased by 30 per cent over
the BMW Group’s existing fully electric vehicles; gravimetric energy
density of the high-voltage battery at cell level up by 20 per cent.
Latest versions of the electric motor, power electronics, charging
technology and high-voltage battery (all developed in-house) will
also be deployed in the BMW iNEXT and BMW i4 from 2021.

Efficiency boosted significantly compared with the BMW i3
by highly integrated drive system technology. Electric motor, power
electronics and transmission arranged in a central housing for the
first time. Fifth-generation BMW eDrive high-voltage battery with
the latest battery cell technology and gross energy content of
80 kWh enables operating range of up to 460 kilometres [285 miles]
in the statutory new WLTP test cycle (up to 520 kilometres [323
miles] in the NEDC test cycle). BMW Group monitors compliance with
environmental and social standards as part of its procurement
process for the lithium and cobalt used in battery cells.

Newly designed fifth-generation BMW eDrive electric motor
produces maximum output of 210 kW/286 hp and peak torque of 400 Nm
    (295 lb-ft). Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h [62 mph] in 6.8 seconds
(for purposes of comparison – BMW X3 30i: 6.4 seconds), top speed
(electronically limited): 180 km/h [112 mph]. The design principle
of a current-excited synchronous motor enables optimised power
development and allows engineers to avoid the use of rare earths.

Scope for varying degrees of recuperation enables choice between
pronounced one-pedal feeling with extensive recuperation of braking
and coasting energy in driving position B and adaptive recuperation
including coasting function in driving position D. Recuperation
level can be adjusted through three stages. Adaptive recuperation
enhances driving comfort and efficiency by adjusting Brake Energy
Regeneration and the coasting function to the driving situation at hand.
Singapore. BMW Asia and Performance Motors Limited
today announced the availability of the new BMW X3 xDrive30e, the
third Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) in the brand's current model range
to feature a plug-in hybrid drive and power transmission to all four
wheels, offering exciting versatility and a purely electric driving
experience as well as outstandingly low fuel consumption and emissions.

The unique combination of intelligent all-wheel drive BMW xDrive and
cutting-edge BMW eDrive technology makes for sustainable driving
pleasure in another BMW model. Together, the 4-cylinder combustion
engine and the electric motor of the plug-in hybrid model generate a
maximum system output of 292 hp. The unique combination of the
intelligent 4-wheel drive system BMW xDrive and state-of-the-art BMW
eDrive technology reduces average fuel consumption to 2.8 litres per
100 kilometres. The combined power consumption of the new BMW X3
  xDrive30e is 18.3 kWh per 100 kilometres. Its lithium-ion high-voltage
battery equipped with the very latest battery cell technology enables
purely electric mobility with a range of 51 to 55 kilometres*.

The new BMW X3 xDrive30e is produced at the BMW plant in Spartanburg,
USA – alongside the conventionally powered model variants of the BMW
X3. In this way, the BMW Group is consistently pursuing not only the
electrification of its drive portfolio but also a product strategy
geared towards the diverse needs of its customers. The globally
popular SAV model in the premium mid-range segment is the first model
of the brand to be offered with both a conventional combustion engine
and a plug-in hybrid system – with a purely electrically powered model
variant to be added in due course.

Sports Activity Vehicle with agile handling, superior off-road
    performance and outstanding efficiency.

The new BMW X3 xDrive30e combines the typical qualities of a Sports
Activity Vehicle with particularly efficient drive technology. The
plug-in hybrid model is likewise characterised by agile handling and
sporty driving characteristics, robust versatility, a versatile
interior, premium quality and advanced connectivity. Its BMW xDrive
system permanently distributes the drive torque between the front and
rear wheels as required – even when driving purely on electric power –
so as to ensure sporty driving characteristics on the road and
superior off-road performance over unsurfaced terrain. The drive power
is generated by a 2.0-litre, 184 hp 4-cylinder petrol engine with BMW
TwinPower Turbo Technology and an electric motor integrated into the
8-speed Steptronic transmission with an output of 109 hp. Together,
the two drive units mobilise a system output of 292 hp. The maximum
system torque of the plug-in hybrid drive is 420 Nm. This allows the
new BMW X3 xDrive30e to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 6.1
seconds. Its top speed is 210km/h.

Depending on the operating mode and the situation on the road, the
electric motor of the new BMW X3 xDrive30e can be used either for
purely electric mobility or to support the combustion engine. In MAX
eDrive mode, which can be activated via the eDrive button on the
centre console, the new BMW X3 xDrive30e achieves a top speed of 135
km/h with a locally emissions-free and virtually silent drive unit. In
the standard Auto eDrive setting, purely electric driving is possible
at speeds of up to 110 km/h. The combustion engine only switches on at
higher speeds or when there are particularly high load requirements.
When both drive units are active, the efficiency of the new BMW X3
xDrive30e is optimised, as is its sprint capacity. When accelerating,
the spontaneous power development of the electric motor is clearly
noticeable, while at constant speeds its electric assist reduces fuel
consumption and emissions. The support of the electric motor ensures
that the combustion engine can run within an efficiency-optimised load
range as often as possible. The likewise available BATTERY CONTROL
setting serves to keep the charge state of the high-voltage battery at
a level determined by the driver. In this way, the power supply can be
specifically reserved and used for local emissions-free driving on
urban stretches of road during a lengthier trip.

High-voltage battery based on the very latest battery cell
technology for maximum efficiency; large, variable luggage compartment.

The lithium-ion battery of the new BMW X3 xDrive30e is located in a
space-saving position underneath the rear seat, while the fuel tank is
positioned above the rear axle. This means that the transport capacity
of the plug-in hybrid model is only slightly restricted. At 450
litres, the luggage compartment volume of the new BMW X3 xDrive30e is
on a par with those models which have a conventional engine. By
folding down the rear seat with 40:20:40 split, the storage space can
be extended to up to 1,500 litres. Thanks to cutting-edge battery cell
technology and a gross energy content of 12.0 kWh, the high-voltage
battery contributes both to the outstanding efficiency and the
excellent electrical range of the new BMW X3 xDrive30e. As a result,
the plug-in hybrid model can be used for a great deal of day-to-day
travel without locally produced emissions –even beyond the city.

The high-voltage battery can be charged using the standard-equipment
charging cable. In this way, the battery can be fully charged in less
than six hours. At a BMW i Wallbox, the same charging process can be
completed in around three and a half hours. The charging socket is
located under a separate flap on the front left side wall of the car.
The electrical energy stored in the high-voltage battery is also used
to supply the 12-volt vehicle electrical system.

Extensive list of standard and optional equipment.

The new BMW X3 xDrive30e comes in the model variants xLine and M
Sport. Its standard equipment includes acoustic pedestrian protection.
When driving electrically at low speeds, an unmistakeable sound
designed specifically for electrified BMW models is generated to alert
other road users to the approaching car without impairing the acoustic
comfort of the vehicle occupants. In addition, the new BMW X3
xDrive30e is equipped with an auxiliary air conditioning system as
standard. It can also be controlled remotely from a smartphone using
the BMW Connected App. New digital services help make it more
attractive and convenient to charge the high-voltage battery when out
and about. The digital services support the driver in searching for
and selecting public charging stations, enable the charging process to
be controlled via remote functions and transmit information relating
to charge status, electrical and combined range and individual energy
consumption to the driver’s smartphone or other personal devices.

In addition, almost the entire range of optional equipment available
for the conventionally powered versions of the BMW X3 is also
available for the plug-in hybrid model – thereby increasing driving
pleasure, comfort and individual style. This range includes an
Adaptive Suspension, a Variable Sports Steering and an M Sport Brake
System, the BMW Head-Up Display, Active Cruise Control with Stop &
Go function and Parking Assistant Plus.

New BMW X3 xDrive30e has a smaller overall CO2 footprint.

The “real” environmental impact of plug-in hybrid vehicles has been
questioned on occasion, especially in markets where the proportion of
green energy used by the public energy grid remains small. The BMW
Group conducted a full-cycle CO2 certification for the new
BMW X3 xDrive30e – from raw material procurement, the supply chain,
production and the use phase, all the way to recycling.

This revealed the CO2 footprint of the new BMW X3
xDrive30e to be 26 per cent smaller than that of the new BMW X3
xDrive30i when running on average European power in the use phase.
When charging the car with green energy, its CO2 footprint
is reduced by as much as 54 per cent.

BMW plug-in hybrid models offer an array of benefits in
    everyday use.

BMW’s plug-in hybrid drive systems already offer users a host of
  additional benefits over traditional solutions:

Money-saving: Electric driving in urban areas is cheaper than
using petrol or diesel if the plug-in hybrid vehicle is charged at
home or at the workplace at low cost.

Interior always at the right temperature, even before you get in:
auxiliary air conditioning is fitted as standard.

Braking is winning: The battery is charged under braking. In
conventional vehicles, braking generates only heat and brake dust.

The best of both worlds: Plug-in hybrids provide electric driving
pleasure in urban areas and classical BMW driving pleasure over
    longer distances.

Better quality of life in cities: By driving on electric power,
users can actively contribute to reducing emissions and traffic
    noise in cities.

The new BMW X3 xDrive30e is now available for viewing at the
  Performance Motors Limited showroom.

Wallbox, the same charging process can be completed in around three
and a half hours. The charging socket is located under a separate
flap on the front left side wall of the car. The electrical energy
stored in the high-voltage battery is also used to supply the
    12-volt vehicle electrical system.

Electric licence plate and tax benefit thanks to the
      considerable electrical range.

Thanks to its high electrical range the new BMW X3 xDrive30e
fulfils the criteria laid down in the German Electric Mobility Act –
depending on fittings – for classification as an e-vehicle, complete
with special rights on public roads. It is also subject to reduced
company car taxation in Germany. Only half the gross list price is
used as a basis when calculating the monetary benefit from private
    use of the company car.

As an alternative to the basic version, the new BMW X3 xDrive 30e
also comes in the model variants Advantage, xLine, Luxury and M
Sport. Its standard equipment includes acoustic pedestrian
protection. When driving electrically at low speeds, an
unmistakeable sound designed specifically for electrified BMW models
is generated to alert other road users to the approaching car
without impairing the acoustic comfort of the vehicle occupants. In
addition, the new BMW X3 xDrive30e is equipped with an auxiliary air
conditioning system as standard. It can also be controlled remotely
from a smartphone using the BMW Connected App: the driver can
therefore get into a warm vehicle in winter and a pleasantly cool
vehicle in summer. New digital services help make it more attractive
and convenient to charge the high-voltage battery when out and
about. The digital services support the driver in searching for and
selecting public charging stations, enable the charging process to
be controlled via remote functions and transmit information relating
to charge status, electrical and combined range and individual
energy consumption to the driver’s smartphone or other personal devices.

In addition, almost the entire range of optional equipment
available for the conventionally powered versions of the BMW X3 is
also available for the plug-in hybrid model – thereby increasing
driving pleasure, comfort and individual style. This range includes
an Adaptive Suspension, a Variable Sports Steering and a M Sport
Brake System, the BMW Head-Up Display, Active Cruise Control with
Stop & Go function, Driving Assistant Plus with steering and
lane guidance assistant and also Parking Assistant Plus. Another
feature included in this range of extras is a tow hitch that can be
electrically swivelled out and in. The maximum towing capacity of
the new BMW X3 xDrive30e is 2,000 kilograms.

New BMW X3 xDrive30e has a smaller overall CO2 footprint.

The “real” environmental impact of plug-in hybrid vehicles has been
questioned on occasion, especially in markets where the proportion
of green energy used by the public energy grid remains small. The
BMW Group conducted a full-cycle CO2 certification for
the new BMW X3 xDrive30e – from raw material procurement, the supply
chain, production and the use phase, all the way to recycling.

This revealed the CO2 footprint of the new BMW X3
xDrive30e to be 26 per cent smaller than that of the new BMW X3
xDrive30i when running on average European power in the use phase.
When charging the car with green energy, its
CO2 footprint is reduced by as much as 54 per cent.

Interior always at the right temperature, even before you get
in: auxiliary heating and auxiliary air conditioning are fitted as standard.

Braking is winning: The battery is charged under braking. In
conventional vehicles, braking generates only heat and brake dust.

The best of both worlds: Plug-in hybrids provide electric
driving pleasure in urban areas and classical BMW driving pleasure
      over longer distances.

Smoothing the way into the future: Because a plug-in hybrid can
run emission-free, it is eligible to enter many low-emission
zones, enjoys extra parking privileges and saves on toll charges.

Better quality of life in cities: By driving on electric power,
users can actively contribute to reducing emissions and traffic
      noise in cities.

CO2 EMISSIONS & CONSUMPTION.

    BMW X3 xDrive30e fuel consumption combined: 2.4 -
    2.1 l/100 km; combined power consumption: 17.2 - 16.4 kWh/100 km;

  The All-newBMW X3Indonesia’s Premiere.

BMW Indonesia presents SportsActivity Vehicle with an ideal balance
  between on-road and off-road capabilities.

Jakarta. Today The All-new BMW X3 was officially
presented in Indonesia. This new Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) from
BMW Indonesia gives a new definition to dynamic driving experience,
efficiency, and toughness in all terrains. In fact, The All-new BMW X3
sets a new benchmark in the premium mid-size SAV segment in terms of
design, light chassis technology, comfort, connectivity, and the
typical driving experience associated with BMW known as Sheer Driving
Pleasure. Not only that, the vehicle also brings a perfectly-refined
interior atmosphere, more emphasis on comfort as well as various
ultra-sophisticated innovations, making it a leading vehicle both
  on-road and off-road.

In 2017, BMW X variants were the main driving force behind the
significant sales growth of the BMW Group, contributing almost a third
to all BMW models sold globally. The excellent performance was also
evident in Indonesia’s market where BMW X variants made up 45% of all
of the models delivered to consumers in 2017. This represented a 21%
  increase over the previous year.

Jodie O’tania, Vice President Corporate Communications BMW Group
Indonesia explained, "BMW has been consistently introducing new
technology and inovation. Improvements have always been made in every
new series of BMW vehicles, complemented of course with the element of
JOY. The All-new BMW X3 is concrete proof of BMW’s commitment to keep
innovating and producing the best vehicles in each respective segment.
The All-new BMW X3 plays an important role in this regard, and is also
the first BMW X series vehicle to be launched in this "year of
the X". Furthermore, the vehicle’s excellent balance in driving
dynamics, both on-road and off-road, thanks to the new BMW xDrive
technology will certainly reinforce our leadership in the medium SAV
segment. Naturally, all of this is accompanied by BMW’s signature luxury."

"The third generation of the BMW X3 sports a firmer design,
enhanced comfort, and a high efficiency engine produced at BMW
Production Network 2 in collaboration with BMW Indonesia’s strategic
partner, PT Gaya Motor. This represents another step in strengthening
BMW’s commitment to offering the best premium mid-size SAVs to
Indonesian consumers more quickly," she added during The All-new
BMW X3’s launch event in Jakarta.

  The All-new BMW X3.

  ON A MISSION.

The BMW X3 was first launched in 2003 and quickly became a pioneer in
the premium mid-size SAV segment. Subsequently, the previous two
generations went on to sell up to 1,5 million units globally. The
All-new BMW X3 has been specifically designed to continue the immense
success of its predecessors. The third generation of the BMW X3 is
packed with superior features like BMW Gesture Control, BMW Display
Key, a perfectly-refined engine, top-class suspension, as well as an
innovative and fascinating operation system that was previously
introduced in the BMW 7 Series and The All-new BMW 5 Series.

As a whole, the exterior of The All-new BMW X3 boasts the signature
language design of a Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV), complemented by
the strong DNA of the BMW X Series family, leading to a
perfectly-tuned vehicle which produces the lowest drag coefficient in
its class of cd 0,29. New selective-beam, hexagonal-shaped BMW Icon
Adaptive LED twin circular headlights, a firmer kidney grille, a solid
front bumper appearance, and an integrated sign lamp all give The
All-new BMW X3 the more masculine appearance typical of an off-road vehicle.

Furthermore, The All-new BMW X3 also comes with wider cabin space
compared to the previous generation. It features an additional 51mm in
length, 10mm in width, and 15mm in height, while 54mm has been added
to the wheelbase. Meanwhile, its fairly short overhangs offer numerous
benefits such as an improvement in interior functionality, a highly
dynamic driving experience and a more attractive look even when stationary.

The Luxury Line variant of The All-new BMW X3 was introduced at this
launch event. Its luxurious appearance is plainly apparent in the use
of high-gloss chrome for the kidney grille, underbody protection for
the front and back bumper, and light-alloy ring 19 inch Double-spoke
696 style wheels with bi-color finishing that heighten the vehicle’s
  elegant and luxurious image.

Meanwhile, the robust lines on The All-new BMW reveal the utilization
of new design materials in the BMW X Series line, imparting a
masculine impression to emphasize its off-road ability and sporty
look. The new appearance is also strengthened by a 3D LED lamp on the
back which is fused with The All-new BMW X3’s sturdy silhouette.

The All-new BMW X3 also comes with hallmark BMW Luxury Line features
in the form of exclusive interior design and high-quality materials.
The use of Vemasca leather – for the first time in an all new BMW line
  – which decorative stitching and a fine-wood oak trim with pearl
chrome finishings all serve to boost the cabin‘s luxurious atmosphere.
Attention to every single detail also shows through the X icon
decoration on the door-trim, center console, and C-pillar.

The best engine and architecture in all fields.

The All-new BMW X3 is equipped with a BMW TwinPower Turbo
fuel-powered engine that guarantees an unmatched combination of engine
performance and fuel efficiency as part of the BMW EfficientDynamics‘
signature philosophy. Boasting High Precision Direct Injection,
Double-Vanos variable camshaft control, and Valvetronic fully variable
valve timing, the vehicle’s four cylinder 2,0 liter fuel engine
demonstrates its superiority in terms of dynamic driving capability
with power of up to 184 HP and torque of up to 290Nm, while at the
same time still recording impressive fuel consumption of 13.1km/l and
low emissions of up to 173 g/km. The vehicle’s power is distributed
through its 8-speed Steptronic transmission which can be controlled by
either a transmission lever or a paddleshifter on the steering wheel.

The application of BMW EfficientLightweight technology in the engine
construction, chassis, and suspension in The All-new BMW X3 enables a
perfect 50/50 mass distribution and an overall 55kg weight reduction
from the previous generation. This is possible through the use of
several top-quality alumunium materials which ensure a structure which
is light but still rigid and strong. Furthermore, the inclusion of the
new BMW xDrive smart feature that’s also integrated with a pasive
security system, makes The All-new BMW X3 an unparalleled driving
experience encapsulating the essence of JOY in every driving opportunity.

The permanent, smart all-wheel drive technology known as BMW
xDrive is also present in The All-new BMW X3, ensuring it
stays ahead of the field in terms of providing unrivalled traction on
all road surfaces, thanks also to smart torque distribution which
ultimately produces enhanced driving dynamics and safety. This smart
system is integrated with the Variable Sports Steering and Performance
Control features which automatically provide the best steering
feedback, distribute engine power smoothly, and ensure a smooth
braking function for all wheels at high speed, thus allowing for BMW‘s
signature manuvering abilities and Sheer Driving Pleasure. Driving
Experience Control (DSC), Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), Dynamic
Damper Control (DDC), and Hill Descent Control (HDC) have all been
linked to BMW xDrive to act as a passive security system that helps
drivers on uphill road contours or when manuvering at high speed.

Just like any BMW vehicle, The All-new BMW X3’s cockpit offers
fantastic driving positions with an ergonomic design. A new operation
system also enables smooth operating capability through iDrive
Controller, voice assistant, touch control, and BMW Gesture Control,
all of which are integrated with a 10,25 inch monitor screen. The
All-new BMW X3 is also equipped with new BMW Navigation System
Professional using 3D maps and voice direction in Bahasa. An 8,8 inch
new-look monitor is also more attractive than before and can display
lots of relevant information. Furthermore, The All-new BMW x3 comes
with the BMW Display Key that allows for more innovative and unique
  vehicle utilization.

Munich/Arjeplog. Driving dynamic and reliability are
just two of the major characteristics of any BMW automobile. To ensure
that a BMW functions in all conditions and that the customer is able
to enjoy unrestricted access to that brand-typical “driving pleasure”
at any time, BMW invests a great deal of time and know-how in both the
construction and the testing of new automobiles. Long before a new
model series arrives on the market, it will have had to withstand
possibly the most severe endurance tests. This includes, for example,
testing under extreme climatic conditions such as those prevailing in
scorching hot deserts or freezing cold winter landscapes.

Fine tuning for optimal safety and maximum driving enjoyment.

Moreover, the extensive ice surfaces of frozen lakes and the numerous
remote roads with their firmly packed layers of snow offer excellent
conditions for fine tuning of the settings activated via the Driving
Experience Control function – and hence for the application of maximum
driving pleasure and best possible driving safety. As a result,
engineers are in a position to sense the vehicle’s dynamic behaviour
much more accurately and synchronize the control of driver assistant
systems such as Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) or Dynamic Traction
Control (DTC) even more precisely and to attune it to the vehicle as a
whole. It is this painstaking development work that later provides the
customer with a competently tuned chassis for that typical BMW driving pleasure.

Ideal preconditions for testing the BMW X3 in the polar region.

Within the framework of the final winter trials, a BMW testing team
completed a fastidious testing programme in wintery North Sweden. In
the landscape around the small town of Arjeplog, pre-series models of
the new BMW X3 had to prove that they are also able to withstand cold,
ice and snow. Located in the historic province of Lapland barely 56
kilometres south of the polar circle, Arjeplog offers the ideal
conditions for this. An abundant amount of snow and temperatures of
minus 20 degrees and below cause the many lakes in the surrounding
area to freeze over. The resulting vast, even surfaces serve as
proving grounds on which steering, suspension and drive
characteristics can be meticulously tested and various different
technical solutions compared against one another. In the process, the
intelligent four-wheel technology xDrive is able to demonstrate its
advantages by not only ensuring best possible traction on icy surfaces
but, thanks to fully variable distribution of torque, also by
optimizing handling agility, this in turn resulting in enhanced

Jakarta. BMW Group Indonesia today rolled
out the locally assembled BMW X3, the fourth model produced in the
country in addition to the BMW 3 Series, 5 Series and X1.
Launched in Indonesia in April 2011, the second generation of BMW X3
offers more space, better driving comfort and efficient engines with
  8-speed Automatic Transmission.

The roll-out of the new BMW X3 xDrive20i with new TwinPower
Turbo petrol engine and X3 xDrive20d with Advanced Diesel technology
took place at the Gaya Motor plant at Sunter, north of Jakarta. The
ceremony was attended by the management of PT Astra International Tbk
  and BMW Group Indonesia.

“BMW Group Indonesia has gradually ramped up its production
activities in Indonesia in line with the commitment of a new
investment of 100 billion rupiah to assemble more models in the
country since 2011. As the world’s most successful
premium car manufacturer, BMW Group's expansion of its production
activities highlights Indonesia’s significant and growing
position in the world economy,” said Ramesh Divyanathan,
President Director of BMW Group Indonesia in his speech.

“Our production rate is 8 units per day in June and will
ramp up to 10 units per day by December 2012. This means an increase
in economic value, more job opportunities, transfer of know-how and
production capabilities to Indonesia,” he added.

The production of BMW models is centered at the plant of PT Gaya
Motor, which is a unit of the BMW Group’s long-standing partner
in Indonesia, PT Astra International. Gaya Motor is part of BMW
Group’s global production network that applies high standards of
processes, quality control and safety requirements. This
guarantees that all locally-assembled models fulfill the stringent
demands to qualify as a premium car.

“The training of the employees at Gaya Motor plant has
started since July 2011. Every time we launch a new model in the
production plant, we have experts coming from our German plants to
provide specific training and support. For the BMW X3, we have
twelve production experts providing training on assembly
processes and quality requirements for about 2 months,” said
Josef Weichinger, BMW Group’s Plant Representative in Jakarta.

“The employees are very capable to understand and implement our
high production standards and the key to our successful launch was the
smooth interaction with our German experts. We are very pleased
with the overall result. Gaya Motor plant consistently meets
BMW’s worldwide high standard for production and quality.”

The new BMW X3 xDrive20i is introduced for the first time in
Indonesia. It comes with the new generation of 2-liter
four-cylinder gasoline engine, with TwinPower Turbo technology
combining a TwinScroll turbocharger with VALVETRONIC,
Double-VANOS and High Precision Injection. The engine is
capable to produce 184 hp at 5,000 rpm and maximum torque of 270 Nm
  between 1,250 to 4,500 rpm.

The engine enables it to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.6
seconds. Top speed is 210 km/h. The fuel consumption is
  13.3 km/l with CO2 emission level at 175 gr/km.

The BMW X3 xDrive20d is powered by a 2 liter four cylinder
turbocharged diesel engine with aluminium crankcase and common rail
direct injection. It mobilizes a maximum output of 184 hp at
4,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 380 Nm between 1,750 and 2,750
rpm. Acceleration from 0 km/h to 100 km/h can be reached in 8.5
seconds and the top speed is 210 km/h. The new BMW X3 xDrive20d
sets a new benchmark in efficiency with an average fuel consumption of
  17.9 km/l and a CO2 emission level of 147 g/km.

The new BMW X3 xDrive20i and BMW X3 xDrive20d will be
introduced at the off the road price of Rp. 828.000.000,- and
  Rp. 788.000.000,- subsequently.

The two locally-assembled variants together with the top model BMW X3
xDrive35i, which will remain a fully-imported model, will form a
strong X3 model line-up. BMW Group Indonesia now offers the most
complete Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) model range in the premium
segment in Indonesia, ranging from the compact SAV BMW X1 up to the
mid-size SAV BMW X3 and the full-size SAV, BMW X5 and BMW X6 Sports
  Activity Coupe (SAC).

Jakarta. PT BMW Indonesia announced the launch
of the new BMW X3 in a press briefing today at Pacific Place. The
second generation of BMW X3 is introduced with two engine variants:
the BMW X3 xDrive35i with in-line six cylinder
gasoline engine, and BMW X3 xDrive20d with in-line
  four cylinder diesel engine.

  “The impressive ergonomics and generous
amount of space in this new BMW X3 take driving comfort to
the next level,” said Ramesh Divyanathan, President Director of
BMW Indonesia. “Every feature in this new Sports Activity
Vehicle is designed to suit the needs of our customers. The new
BMW X3 is the perfect car to drive in congested city traffic as well
as navigating hilly and winding country roads,”

Exceptionally agile handling and other superior characteristics of
this intelligent four-wheel drive concept xDrive have made the BMW X3
a pioneer in its class and a global best seller. Since its
introduction in 2004, it has sold a total of 614,824 units worldwide.

Design: Urban elegance, dynamic flowing lines and the characteristic

    features of BMW X models.

The body design of the new BMW X conveys urban elegance and versatile
agility. The combination of a flat front end and a high rear end
produces a dynamic formed wedge shape, indicating the vehicle's
  sporting characteristics.

The side view of the new BMW X3 is characterised by unique
interpretation of typical BMW X design features. Powerfully
flared wheel arches and short distance between the front axle and
dashboard accentuate the robust character of the Sports Activity Vehicle.

The rear is characterised by horizontal lines, underlining the new
BMW X3's robust character. Distinctive lines and expressively
modelled surfaces create attractive light and shadow effects.
The taillights, which are located far to the outside, have a
distinctive T shape that is characteristic of the BMW X3.

The new BMW X3 xDrive20d is equipped with aluminium satinated roof
rail, chrome surround and black slats in the front grille. On
BMW X3 xDrive35i, it is also equipped with chrome kidney slats in the
grille and X Line in form of aluminium window recess covers, and
Titanium look details on front and rear bumper.

  Interior: Premium ambience, intelligent functionality.

A generous and variably utilisable spatial concept, high-grade
materials and a characteristic three-dimensional surface design
provide the interior of the new BMW X3 with a modern, premium ambience
  and intelligent functionality.

Brand-typical driver orientation is emphasised by the asymmetrically
designed centre console. The raised seating position facilitates
convenient entry and optimizing the overview of the traffic situation.
The control display is harmoniously integrated into the instrument panel.

The new BMW X3 xDrive35i and X3 xDrive20d Executive offer a spacious
interior feeling with panorama glass roof as a standard feature.

The new BMW X3 offers highest degree of interior variability due to
folding and 60:40 split rear seat backrest, variable luggage
  compartment volume of 550 - 1,600 l.

The new BMW X3 xDrive35i: Top athlete in the segment.

Spontaneous response, high-revving characteristics, outstanding
running smoothness and an efficiency that is unique for this
model. With BMW TwinPower Turbo technology, direct petrol
injection and variable valve control VALVETRONIC, the new engine
possess the qualities that are characteristic of a BMW in-line six
  cylinder engine.

The 3 liter engine generates a maximum output of 306 hp at 5,800 rpm
and a maximum torque of 400 Nm between 1,200 and 5,000 rpm. The
  engine enables

it to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.7 seconds. Top speed
  is 245 km/h. The fuel consumption is 11.4 km/l with CO2 emission
  level at 204 gr/km.

The new BMW X3 xDrive20d: Efficient, clean and high torque.

The new BMW X3 xDrive20d is powered by a 2 liter four cylinder
turbocharged diesel engine with aluminium crankcase and common rail
direct injection.

The new BMW X3 xDrive20d sets a new benchmark in efficiency with an
  average fuel consumption of 17.9 km/l and a CO2 emission level of 147 g/km.

This is the fourth diesel model introduced by BMW in Indonesia,
following the BMW X1 sDrive 20d, X5 xDrive30d and the new BMW
520d. The BMW Advanced Diesel engine delivers superb fuel
efficiency, low CO2 emissions, generous torque at low engine speeds
and the typical BMW characteristics of superior smoothness and refined
  engine acoustics.

BMW EfficientDynamics in the new BMW X3: Premiere for Auto
    Start Stop

  function in automatic transmission.

The new BMW X3 sDrive35i is equipped as standard with a Sports

automatic transmission with eight-speed with shift paddles on the
steering wheel, while the X3 xDrive20d comes with eight-speed
automatic transmission. Both automatic transmissions are
combined for the first time with an Auto

    Start Stop function.

The Auto Start Stop function switches the engine off when the vehicle
is brought to a standstill for a short time for example at traffic
lights, so it avoids unnecessary fuel consumption. The engine is
restarted automatically in a process that completes within a fraction
  of a second.

The Auto Start Stop symbol in the Info display indicates that
the function is active. The driver has to brake the car to a
complete standstill and keep the footbrake pedal depressed. The
engine is switched off after the car has been at a standstill for one
second. When it is time to move away the driver merely releases
the footbrake pedal, the engine restarts automatically and the car can
move off. If the car has Auto Hold and the function is
activated, the engine remains switched off even when the driver
releases the footbrake pedal. Under these circumstances the
engine does not restart until the accelerator pedal is depressed.

Driving comfort and driving safety are not affected by the Auto Start
Stop function. The function is not activated, for example, until the
engine has reached the ideal running temperature. The same applies if
the air conditioner has not yet brought the cabin to the desired
temperature, if the battery is not adequately charged or if the driver
  moves the steering wheel.

The Auto Start Stop function can be completely
deactivated with the press of a button.

This function is coordinated by a central control unit that monitors
data from all relevant sensors, the starter motor and the alternator.
If necessary for comfort or safety, the control unit will
automatically restart the engine: for example, if the vehicle begins
to roll, the battery charge falls too low or condensation forms on the windscreen.

Furthermore, the system also recognises the difference between a
temporary stop and the end of the trip. It will not restart the engine
if driver's seatbelt is undone, or if the door or bonnet is open. When
used consistently, the Auto Start Stop function delivers significant
reductions in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

BMW EfficientDynamics features in all model variants include brake
energy regeneration, Electric Power Steering, intelligent lightweight
construction and tires with reduced rolling resistance that contribute
toward lowering fuel consumption and exhaust emission levels.

  Newly developed suspension, optimized xDrive.

The new BMW X3 comes with permanent four-wheel drive technology BMW

xDrive as standard. Its electronic control unit, which is
interlinked with the DSC Dynamic Stability Control, counteracts at an
early stage any tendency to oversteer or understeer through fast and
  precise response.

The new BMW X3 also features completely redeveloped suspension technology.

The double-joint spring-strut axle at the front and a five-link rear
axle, in conjunction with a widened track, are the ideal prerequisites
for optimizing agility and driving comfort.

EPS Electric Power Steering, including the Servotronic function for
speed-dependent power steering, is incorporated in the new BMW X3 for
the first time and contributes significantly to enhanced precise handling.

The new BMW X3: More comfortable than ever, benchmark in
    agility, driving

  dynamics, efficiency.

Compared with the predecessor model, the new BMW X3 is characterized
by a noticeable increase in motoring comfort and interior space. Both
exterior length and width have increased, it is positioned precisely
between the BMW X5 and the compact BMW X1.

The new BMW X3 remains the role model for driving dynamics, agility
and efficiency. Besides its generous amount of space, it also
possesses the most innovative equipment features.

  Safety features
  .

The safety features in the new BMW X3 cover active headrest for front
passengers, side airbags and front airbags for front passengers, head
airbags and curtains for all passengers, Brake Assist, Brake Force

Cornering Brake Control, DSC Dynamic Stability Control, DTC Dynamic

Receiving the Top Safety Pick for the 2009 BMW 3 Series Sedan,
X5, and X3 vehicles is one of numerous awards BMW has earned from the
IIHS over the years. In fact, as a result of IIHS crash tests in 2000,
the 2001 BMW X5 earned the unique distinction of not only being the
best SUV, but also being the safest vehicle ever tested by IIHS up to
that point. "BMW continues to be committed to both our active and
passive safety technologies, and we are pleased to receive the
Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's Top Safety Pick award for the
2009 BMW 3 Series Sedan, X5, and X3," said Jim O'Donnell,
President of BMW of North America, LLC. The Institute rates vehicles
"Good," "Acceptable," "Marginal" or
"Poor" based on performance in high-speed Frontal Offset and
Side Impact crash tests as well as an evaluation of the vehicle's Rear
Crash Protection/Head Restraints, which protect against neck injuries
in rear impact crashes. In order for a vehicle to become a Top Safety
Pick, it must earn "Good" ratings in all three Institute
tests. Additionally, as of 2007, winning vehicles must also offer
Electronic Stability Control (ESC) - a standard feature on all BMW
vehicles, known as Dynamic Stability Control. The IIHS requires this
feature based on Institute research indicating that ESC significantly
reduces crash risk, especially the risk of fatal single vehicle
crashes, by helping drivers maintain control of their vehicles during
emergency maneuvers.

Press Contact: Cindy Chia
Tel: +65-6838-9629
E-mail: cindy.chia@bmwasia.com

X5,Press Release,Concept Vehicles & Design,X3,Sedan,Product,BMW

Whether on country lanes, in city traffic or on gravel tracks
- wherever it goes, the new BMW X3 is driving along the road to
success. With powerful new engines, a fresh design and high-quality
interior features, the Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) from BMW -
especially well known for its marked agility and driving dynamics - is
continuing its trail of success. The new BMW X3 has all the features to
further improve its exceptional position as the only premium offer in
the segment. Selective modifications in the front, rear and side areas
give the vehicle a dynamic character; exceptionally high quality
materials, flowing lines and stylish colour schemes dominate the
interior. And the design of the new BMW X3 corresponds perfectly with
the enhanced potency of its drive units. The sportiest diesel worldwide
is available as the top-of-the-range engine for the new BMW X3. The
newly developed 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder unit of the BMW X3 3.0sd
with its Variable Twin Turbo (VTT) technology realises 210 kW/286 HP
and reaches a maximum torque of 580 Newton metres. The new generation
of in-line six-cylinder petrol engines with 3.0-litre and 2.5-litre
capacity is also deployed in the new BMW X3. The VALVETRONIC and
Bi-VANOS drive units fitted with a magnesium-aluminium composite
crankcase achieve 200 kW/272 HP or 160 kW/218 HP, respectively. The
Integrated Chassis Management (ICM) with optimised computer structure
ensures an even more effective and rapid interaction of the intelligent
xDrive all-wheel drive from BMW with the driving dynamic control DSC
(Dynamic Stability Control) and the engine control system in all
variants of the engine. The new BMW X3 is the uncompromising further
development of a vehicle concept that has caused a sensation on the
international automobile markets. As an exceptionally agile sports
activity vehicle, it combines dynamic handling characteristics on the
road with the advantages in traction guaranteed by the intelligent
xDrive all-wheel drive from BMW, even during detours on rugged terrain.
The new BMW X3 is still the only premium vehicle of its class - more
than ever created for active and demanding car motorists who appreciate
superior drive technology, versatility, driving dynamics and highest
quality workmanship. The new BMW X3 offers you all the potential to
express sporty élan, spontaneity and independence at the highest
level. A design with strong character underlines the dynamics.
Sensitive, yet striking describes the changes to the front and rear
areas of the BMW X3. At both the front and the back, the bumper units
split into two levels are clearly visible and predominantly painted in
the body colour. This also underlines the high quality and sporty but
elegant appearance of the new BMW X3. Only the intentionally exposed
protective elements are made of robust black plastic. A striking
feature of all BMW X models is the so-called "six-eyed look".
New double circular headlights with light sources and reflectors behind
clear glass lend its character to the new BMW X3. The fog lights
arranged in a line that sweeps diagonally to the outside from the
headlights to the wheels adds to this. Its geometry reinforces the
impression of a powerful vehicle crouching on the road, in the same way
as the painted front apron below the outer bumper. The BMW kidney
grille stands out because its increased size and the very distinctive
visual effect of grille fins dyed in different colours (according to
the model and variant). Kidney grille fins in a Light Titanium colour
identify the BMW X3 3.0sd; the grille fins of the other six-cylinder
variants are in a Graphite Metallic colour. The four-cylinder variants
have black kidney grille fins. The optional headlight cleaning system
has been smoothly integrated in the front section and only extends when
required. New rear light assemblies with clear glass covers over
horizontal rods of light fed by LEDs ensure a striking night design,
but also serve as an eye-catching feature of the new BMW X3 in
daylight. Just as characteristic is the dominance of horizontal lines
that continue from the tailgate right down to the bumper, thereby
underscoring the powerful appearance of the new BMW X3 from this
perspective. From the side view, the striking lower line emphasises the
discreet wedge-shape. Its contour is picked up in the lower side area
of both the front and the rear aprons, reinforcing the impression of a
dynamically extended lateral line. High-grade materials and cultivated
design in the interior. With a gentle arrangement of shapes and
transitions between the individual parts of the interior, the
harmonious flow of lines is also continued in the passenger compartment
of the new BMW X3. Solid functionality is combined with cultivated
design. In every detail, the demand for high quality invested in the
selection and workmanship of all materials cannot only be seen, but also
felt. The instrument panel is characterised by a new décor strip
that matches in colour and material with the decorative surfaces of the
centre console. Galvanised metals on the door handles and regulators of
the air temperature control system, exclusive leather and textile
variants, a high-quality colour scheme and designs for the roof lining
as well as plastic surfaces with a high-class texture very clearly
reflect the character of the robust, yet elegant interior. Also the new
three-spoke steering wheels and the spacious storage areas integrated
in the door trims further the impression of high quality, both
optically as well as haptically. This respectability at an especially
high level accords with the style of a modern generation of motorists
who use their vehicle for a great variety of purposes, but always want
to enjoy a cultivated ambience at the same time. Four variants of
equipment, ten exterior colours, six trim colours and five décor
surface variants present a multitude of possibilities for the
customisation of the new BMW X3. As an alternative to the basic
equipment for the new BMW X3, sports or luxury seats are also
optionally available. The material selected in the equipment
specifications for the seat upholstery is also used in the centre
console, the armrests and the door trims. The trim colours Black, Grey
or Sand Beige create a more tranquil atmosphere, whereas the
Terracotta, Anthracite or Tobacco tones awaken a more strongly
accentuated general mood. The choice of decorative surfaces can also
express personal style - from a classically elegant wood finish to the
markedly sporty note of the aluminium look. The new BMW X3 3.0sd,
above all, provides an exceptionally exclusive driver environment. Foot
pedals with stainless steel applications are included in the standard
specification. In all six-cylinder variants, the roadspeed display goes
up to the value of 260 km/h, and the chronometer scaling in the cockpit
of the BMW X3 3.0sd goes up to a value extended by a further 10 km/h.
From outside, the BMW X3 3.0sd stands out with its attractive 18-inch
wheels, a markedly sporty rear apron and the larger tailpipes of its
exhaust system among other features. Première: A diesel as
top-of-the-range engine. Three petrol engines and three diesel engines
are available for the new BMW X3. Greater performance, higher torque,
reduced weight and improved efficiency distinguish the new six-cylinder
unit. Its power output characteristic contributes decisively to the
agile driving impression of the SAV model. Above all with its
six-cylinder engines, the new BMW X3 is again setting the standard in
its segment for power output development, efficiency and running
performance. It also represents a genuine novelty in the driving
segment. For the first time in a BMW model, a diesel engine is at the
top of a range of engines classified according to performance. The
completely new 3.0 litre in-line six-cylinder diesel with Variable Twin
Turbo (VTT) technology is celebrating its première in the BMW X3
3.0sd. High tech of the very best kind is also offered by the second
six-cylinder diesel engine in the BMW X3 3.0d. In addition, the new
generation of the in-line six-cylinder petrol engines with
magnesium-aluminium composite crankcase and VALVETRONIC is now also
making its arrival in the BMW X3. A newcomer in both the petrol and the
diesel range is a four-cylinder engine. The new BMW X3 3.0sd is powered
by the sportiest six-cylinder diesel engine that has ever been offered
for a standard vehicle. The new powerful 210 kW/286 HP unit is equipped
with the Variable Twin Turbo (VTT) technology that, as the first
manufacturer worldwide, BMW has introduced in the BMW 535d. In this
technology (also described as graduated charging), firstly a small turbo
charger displays its effect in the lower speed range; then an additional
larger turbo charger is employed as the power requirement increases.
That's why the boost in performance comes into action even at just
above the idling speed. The maximum torque of 580 Nm is generated in
the range between 1,750 and 2,250 min-1. The maximum performance is
reached at an unusually high engine speed of 4,400 min-1 for diesel
engines, whereas the speed limit of the engine is not reached until
5,070 min-1. The unrivalled breadth of the usable speed range leads to
a sustained strong power output development that is also reflected in
the road performances of the new BMW X3 3.0sd. 6.6 seconds are enough
for the vehicle to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h with a top speed of
240 km/h. Yet the impressive dynamics are combined with maximum
economy. The average fuel consumption determined in the extra urban
(EU) test cycle is 8.7 litres of diesel per 100 kilometres. Effective
exhaust cleaning is provided by a particle filter of the latest
generation, which is integrated with the oxidation catalytic converter
in a shared housing near the engine. Like all other vehicle models, the
BMW X3 3.0sd also complies with the emission guidelines of the EU-4
norm. Among other things, the exemplary efficiency of the top diesel is
thanks to its weight reduction of 25 kilogrammes and the latest
generation of common rail direct injection with piezo injectors. These
two factors also apply to the second 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder
diesel engine offered as part of the range for the new BMW X3. Instead
of the conventional cast iron elements of the competition, the drive
unit of the BMW X3 3.0d is also equipped with an all-aluminium
crankcase as well as with piezo injectors in the fuel injection system.
The injection pressure increased to 1,600 bar as a result produces an
especially rapid filling of the combustion chamber. The piezo element
of the injector reacts without delay on the electrical pulse in order
to activate the injection procedure. At the same time, the opening
angle of the nozzle needle is precisely controlled and the maximum
volume is also reached within the shortest time. Accordingly, in
combination with a turbo charger with Variable Turbine Geometry (VTG), a
top performance of 160 kW/218 HP is achieved. This means that
consummate traction power is also certain for the new BMW X3 3.0d since
its engine already provides the maximum torque of 500 Nm at between
1,750 and 2,750 min-1. It reaches a speed of 100 in 7.4 seconds with a
top speed of 210 km/h. The maximum speed can be increased to 220 km/h
with the optional tyres of speed rating V that can be delivered ex
works. With an average fuel consumption of 7.9 litres diesel per 100
kilometres (EU cycle), the new BMW X3 3.0d can also boast exemplary
values in the field of efficiency. It is also equipped with a particle
filter located next to the engine as standard. The new BMW X3 2.0d
shows itself to be even more economical. Its four-cylinder engine with
common rail injection delivers a power output of 110 kW/150 HP and a
maximum torque of 330 Nm, already at between values of approximately
2,000 and 2,500min-1. This ensures powerful acceleration, enabling it
to reach 100 km/h in 10.2 seconds. The top speed of the BMW X3 2.0d is
198 km/h with an average fuel consumption of only 7.2 litres per 100
kilometres. A particle filter is also included in the standard equipment
range of the four-cylinder diesel engine. Petrol engines: More
performance, less weight. The particularly lightweight, stable and
efficient in-line six-cylinder engine in the new BMW X3 is offered in
two capacities and two performance levels at the same time. The new BMW
X3 3.0si incorporates the most powerful model of the 3.0-litre
six-cylinder engine so far, with a reputation for particularly smooth
running and reliability that now has more than 200 kW/272 HP and a
maximum torque of 315 Nm. The 2.5-litre six-cylinder engine of the new
BMW X3 2.5si generates a power output of 160 kW/218 HP and a maximum
torque of 250 Nm. Both engines are equipped with a magnesium-aluminium
composite crankcase, the variable valve-control VALVETRONIC and a
coolant pump with demand-based control. With a weight of only 165
kilogrammes, they also contribute to the well-balanced axle-load
distribution and, consequently, also to the outstanding agility and
driving dynamics of the BMW X3. The 3.0-litre engine is considered
above all to be a classic example of efficient dynamics in the sector
of petrol drive systems. The BMW X3 3.0si accelerates from zero to 100
km/h in only 7.2 seconds and reaches a top speed of 210 km/h or 232
km/h respectively with the optional tyres of speed rating V available
ex works. With an average fuel consumption in the EU cycle of 10.1
litres per 100 kilometres, it offers exemplary economy for this
performance class. The corresponding values for the new BMW X3 2.5si
are hardly less impressive. It reaches the 100 km mark in 8.5 seconds
and has a top speed of 210 km/h. Tyres of speed rating V that enable
the maximum speed to be increased to 221 km/h are also available as an
option for the BMW X3 2.5si. The average fuel consumption is 9.9 litres
per 100 kilometres (EU cycle). A four-cylinder unit is also available
for the new BMW X3 as an entry-level model in the range of petrol
engines. The 2.0-litre engine of the new BMW X3 2.0i is the only
four-cylinder offered worldwide that has the VALVETRONIC variable
valve-control. It is equipped with the Bi-VANOS variable camshaft
control unit as well as the DISA switchable intake system. This means it
moves at an extremely high level for four-cylinder drives with regard
to power output development, smoothness of running and efficiency.
Besides, the new BMW X3 2.0i is also convincing both in its agility as
well as its economy. It accelerates to 100 km/h in 11.5 seconds and
reaches a top speed of 198 km/h. Its average fuel consumption (EU
cycle) is just 9.3 litres per 100 kilometres. New automatic gearbox
offers dynamics, efficiency and comfort. With the exception of the BMW
X3 3.0sd, all variants of the new SAV model are equipped with a
six-speed manual gearbox as standard. The configuration of the
transmission graduation is closely matched to the performance
characteristics of the respective engine. The optionally available
automatic gearbox with Steptronic function also offers six speed
ranges. The automatic is standard in the new top model of the SAV
series, the BMW X3 3.0sd. There, an automatic transmission specially
developed for combination with powerful drive sources is responsible
for selecting the orrect speed range. The new six-speed automatic
transmission carries out this task with unrivalled speed, precision and
efficiency. That's why it supports the driving dynamics of the BMW X3
3.0sd above all, as well as the comfort. New converter technology and
particularly efficient software enable a reaction and switching time
that's reduced by up to 50 percent compared with conventional automatic
gearboxes. Thanks to the direct finding of the intended gear, even the
skipping of one or more speed ranges when shifting down does not take
up any additional time. With its remarkable shift dynamics and the
exceptional direct engine connection, the new six-speed automatic
transmission assists the sporty, active handling of the new BMW X3
3.0sd in an impressive way. In the same way, it also makes it easier to
achieve not only comfortable, relaxed, but low consumption cruising at
low engine speeds as well. Permanent all-wheel drive of the intelligent
kind: BMW xDrive. Agile and dynamic on the road, completely variable and
with powerful traction on rugged terrain: The variety of opportunities
to enjoy the pleasure of driving embodies the special appeal of the new
BMW X3. It owes its high allround potential to the permanent
intelligent xDrive all-wheel system from BMW that provides completely
variable power distribution between the front and rear axle with
remarkably fast and precise reactions. It always directs the driving
power of the engine to where it can be most effectively used via a
transfer box with electronically controlled multi-plate clutch. Not only
does this lead to maximum traction on difficult ground, it is also good
for the driving dynamics because it promptly counteracts any tendency
to oversteer or understeer when cornering. The differential locking
function is realised via the braking action on the respective spinning
wheel. These capabilities help not only the SAV models to gain superior
handling characteristics, but also all vehicles from BMW equipped with
xDrive. Meanwhile, the high attractiveness of the system has led to BMW
becoming the worldwide most successful supplier of all-wheel vehicles
in the premium segment. Torque distribution of 40:60 in normal driving
situations. The permanent and infinitely variable power distribution to
all four wheels takes place in the BMW xDrive via a rigid main shaft to
the rear axle and a multi-plate clutch that directs the torque to the
front axle via an intermediate shaft. In normal driving situations, the
drive torque is distributed in the ratio of 40 : 60 between the front
and the rear wheels. The xDrive reacts to each change of the driving
surface or the dynamic handling situation with an appropriate
adjustment of the distribution ratio within the shortest time. This can
mean that, if there are extreme variations in the traction between the
front and rear wheels, almost all of the drive torque is briefly
transmitted to one axle. For instance, a tendency to oversteer during
high-speed cornering can also be counteracted just as quickly. The
multi-plate clutch is more strongly closed to direct additional power
to the front wheels and to optimise the driving stability. In this way,
up to 75 percent of the torque can be dynamically transmitted to the
front axle during extreme oversteering vehicle response. This
over-locked condition adjusts itself on its own due to the slip ratios
and, as a result, power transmission ratios to the tyres. Further
developed: Integrated Chassis Management. To guarantee these high-speed
precise reactions, the xDrive all-wheel system, the Dynamic Stability
Control (DSC) and the engine control system are networked with one
another via the integrated Chassis Management. The sensors of the
suspension control also supply the control unit of the xDrive with the
data required for the determination of the current driving situation.
In this way, xDrive can pro-actively ensure a stabilisation of the
vehicle operating conditions to a certain extent. Slip is detected and
prevented, even before the affected wheels start to spin and become
noticeable for the driver or any greater instability occurs. Only if a
change in the power distribution brought about by the xDrive is no
longer sufficient to optimise the driving stability does the DSC
intervene with braking actions on individual wheels and by influencing
the engine control system. The new control structure of the integrated
Chassis Management ensures an even faster and more precise coordination
between the xDrive and DSC. Until now, engine and brake management
influenced the self-steering characteristics of the vehicle almost
independently of the longitudinal torque management, so the three
regulating circuits now operate in parallel. While the longitudinal
torque management controls the distribution of the drive torque between
front and rear axles, the brake management can simultaneously carry out
braking actions on individual wheels for the benefit of traction and
driving dynamics. Besides, the engine management can reduce or increase
the drive torque if necessary. Through the exact networking with the
DSC, the xDrive all-wheel system enables a rapid and precise reaction
to changed driving situations and, therefore, even more driving
dynamics. DSC driving dynamics control system with additional
functions. A driving dynamics control system enhanced by numerous
additional functions is active in the new BMW X3. The new DSC not only
provides for driving stability and traction, it also optimises the
effect of the braking system. It compensates for any drop in the
braking effect at extremely high brake temperatures with a selective
increase in brake pressure. The advance application of the brake pads
increases the readiness to brake in situations where you can expect
spontaneous braking. Regular dry braking optimises the efficiency in
wet conditions and the Dynamic Braking Control (DBC) function
automatically maximises the brake pressure when exceptional braking is
required. In addition, a hill hold function eases moving away on
inclines. The driving dynamics control also continues to include ABS
brake control, wheelslip control (ASC), trailer stabilisation, Hill
Descent Control (HDC) plus Cornering Brake Control (CBC). It prevents
the undesirable tendency of the vehicle to trepan during light braking
when cornering. Also the DTC function in a BMW X model for the first
time. The highly dynamic driving character of the new BMW X3 is
supported with the Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) that is also part of
the new DSC. The DTC mode can be activated with the aid of a button on
the centre console. It raises the response thresholds for the engine
and braking action so that the BMW X3 can start driving on loose snow
with slightly spinning drive wheels, for example. In addition, DTC
encourages an active sporty way of driving by allowing higher lateral
acceleration up to a slight and controllable drift when cornering. At
higher speeds, the intervention control of the DTC more closely
approaches the basic mode of the DSC so that the stability promoting
effect of the driving dynamic control is maintained in critical
situations. As is usual for BMW, depressing the DTC key for a longer
period of time causes the DSC to be completely deactivated if required.
Then only the differential locking function is retained by activation
of the brakes on the respective spinning wheel. The new BMW X3 is
equipped with 17-inch light-alloy wheel as standard and the BMW X3
3.0sd has 18-inch wheels as standard. Optionally, there are also many
other light alloy wheels in 18-inch and 19-inch formats available for
selection. The tyre deflation detection system (RPA), also available as
standard, provides an early indication of any loss of tyre pressure
which is constantly monitored for this purpose using wheel speed
measurements. If there is a deviation of more than 30 percent from the
specified value, a warning signal lights up in the cockpit. For the
avoidance of rear-end collisions, the new BMW X3 is also equipped with
a brake force display. This system, introduced by BMW in standard models
for the first time, helps to raise the attention of road users
approaching from behind. In the case of particularly heavy braking and
if the ABS is activated, the light-emitting surface of the brake lights
at the rear of the BMW X3 increases. This signal also encourages the
person behind to brake his vehicle as quickly as possible. Spacious
and safe: The body of the new BMW X3. A maximum level of passive safety
is guaranteed by the new BMW X3 with its solid bodywork structure and
its comprehensive equipment with containment and restraint systems
whose function is controlled by central control electronics. Highly
stable longitudinal and cross members as well as screwed deforming
elements enable the deliberate deflection and absorption of impact
energy in a head-on collision. The consequences of a side collision are
minimised, among other things, by diagonally running door
reinforcements of highly stable steel sections that connect with the
side frames via hooks during deformation, thus providing additional
deflection of the impact energy. So, even in severe collisions, the
passenger cell remains largely intact. As well as front and side
airbags, the interior also has side curtain head-level airbags as part
of the standard equipment. They open up out of the trim on the pillars
and from the roof lining to protect passengers in both the front and
rear of the vehicle from injury. The BMW X3 is equipped with
three-point automatic seat belts on all five seats. The restraint
systems have seat belt force limiters and the front seats have a seat
belt-tensioner function as well. The new BMW X3 is 4,569 millimetres
long, 1,853 millimetres wide and 1,674 millimetres high. With these
values, the five-door vehicle achieves ideal dimensions from a number
of aspects. As the more compact member of the SAV model family from
BMW, the greatest agility and ease of handling make it exciting.
Nevertheless, its spacious and flexibly usable interior provides the
best features for a wide variety of possible uses. The luggage
compartment cover conceals a loading space volume of 480 litres. The
large tailgate that swings up high and a low load edge also make it
easier to accommodate cumbersome goods for transport. After the
asymmetrically split rear bench seat has been folded back, the rear
section boasts a maximum storage volume of 1,560 litres. The equipment:
From extensive to exclusive. Premium quality is reflected in the
interior of the new BMW X3. Striking materials and quality of
workmanship meet the highest demands. The extensive luxury equipment as
standard also underlines the sophisticated ambience. Besides,
opportunities for individualization are not only offered by the large
selection of trim colours, upholsteries and décor surfaces. High
quality navigation and audio systems increase the travelling comfort in
the new BMW X3 still further. In addition, the BMW Assist telematics
service is also available as an option. The Bi-Xenon light, also
available as an option, ensures optimum vision when  driving at night;
its headlight assemblies are equipped with side light rings as well. It
can be combined with the adaptive cornering light where the swivelling
headlights anticipate the course of a bend, thus ensuring optimum
illumination of the road. In addition, the swivelling light realised
with the aid of the fog light, makes it easier to change direction in
darkness at low speeds as well as manoeuvring. The distance of the
vehicle to an obstacle is measured with the aid of the Park Distance
Control (PDC). When parking, the driver can use an acoustic signal for
orientation to estimate the distance between his vehicle and the object.
Also, fresh air fans in the new BMW X3 can increase your driving
pleasure in an especially attractive way. With a glass area of 0.65
meters, the two-part panorama roof offers a remarkably generous view of
the heavens. Boundless possibilities of use, dynamic and sporty
handling characteristics, the stylish presence of its bodywork designs
and the high-quality workmanship make the new BMW X3 an exception among
the all-wheel driven vehicles of its segment. With the versatility of
its interior and its driving characteristics, it creates the basis for
a form of mobility determined by spontaneity. The new BMW X3 is
convincing in day-to-day traffic with its effortless and agile handling
characteristics. Five generously dimensioned seats and a luggage
compartment ready for larger transport tasks emphasise its allround
traits. Even in winter use, offroad or as a towing vehicle, the BMW X3
profits from the cross-country suitability of its bodywork and its
suspension as well as the tractional advantages of the xDrive all-wheel
system. The BMW X3 has proved itself to be a real high flier on the
international automobile markets. In the meantime, it has become one of
the most popular of all-wheel vehicles in a great many countries. More
than 260,000 vehicles have been sold worldwide in two and a half years.
In the year 2005, it took the top position in the segment of off-road
vehicles in Germany with a market share of 11.4 percent. The new BMW
X3 offers optimum conditions for the continuation of this success
story. Its new engines allow road performances that greatly exceed the
usual level in its segment so far. With these unique dynamics, its new
design and the critically modified interior, it appeals primarily to
those motorists who are also looking for the exceptional driving
experience in association with a robust, agile and extremely versatile
vehicle and, what's more, who appreciate the quality and magnetism of a
premium automobile. The new BMW X3 offers you multi-faceted driving
pleasure of the highest calibre.

Press Contact: Cindy Chia
Tel: +65-6838-9629
E-mail: cindy.chia@bmwasia.com

X3,Press Kit,Product,BMW

Munich. Introducing a very dynamic and versatile new
vehicle, BMW is expanding the successful X-family: The new BMW X3
combines the outstanding agility of a typical BMW with the wide range
of uses offered by a Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV). This represents
the first premium offering in the class of SAVs beneath the X5, and
comes to market to conquer the world's roads both on and off the beaten
track. The BMW X3 will make its debut at this year's Frankfurt Motor
Show in September. The BMW X3 combines the characteristic proportions
of a Sports Activity Vehicle with both classic and new BMW design
characteristics. The modern design language with interacting concave
and convex surfaces gives the X3 a youthful and fresh appearance. Its
unique position within the BMW model series is underlined by a wide
range of characteristic features such as the newly interpreted, classic
"Hofmeister kink" in the rear side windows, the newly
designed double kidney grille, as well as the headlights and rear
lights. The long wheelbase with short overhangs and the sloping roof
line accentuate the dynamic character and performance of this Sports
Activity Vehicle right from the start. Strong flared wheel arches and
the striking front section emphasize the self-confident personality of
this newcomer which makes a positive impression in every environment.
Dynamic performance is ensured by BMW's 3.0-litre straight-six gasoline
and diesel power units widely lauded for their truly outstanding
refinement and performance. Developing a maximum output of 170 kW (231
bhp), the agile X3 3.0i is specified with a top speed of up to 210 km/h
or 130 mph in standard trim, and can reach up to 224 km/h or 139 mph
with its optionally available high-speed set-up (available with Sports
Package). The recently introduced straight-six turbodiesel with
second-generation common rail direct injection develops a maximum
output of 150 kW (204 bhp) in the X3 and propels this outstanding
Sports Activity Vehicle with a supreme 410 Nm maximum torque. Again,
top speed in standard trim is specified up to 210 km/h or 130 mph, and
can reach a maximum of up to 218 km/h or 135 mph with high-speed set-up.
Both models come standard with a six-speed manual gearbox, a five-speed
automatic transmission being available as an option. Other engine
variants will follow one after the other. A special highlight of the
BMW X3 is the newly developed intelligent xDrive all-wheel-drive system
which sets new standards in agility for all-wheel-drive vehicles.
xDrive allows infinitely adjustable and fully variable distribution of
torque front-to-rear, the system immediately recognises any need for a
change in power distribution and responds very quickly, when driving
on-road often before the wheels begin to lose their grip. As a result,
the X3 is able to feed optimum torque to the respective axle at any
time during dynamic cornering , significantly minimising both under-
and oversteer in the process. On the road xDrive therefore offers a
substantial improvement in agility and driving pleasure and, at the
same time, safety. Stability management systems such as DSC can
intervene at a far later point in time than with conventional
four-wheel drive. xDrive also ensures better grip and traction on
slippery or rough terrain, transmitting power as quickly as possible to
the wheels with better grip when a wheel might start to spin and thus
eventually interrupt the flow of traction. The versatility of the new
BMW X3 is by no means limited to the wide range of different road
conditions and terrain on which this SAV demonstrates its agility and
dynamic performance. Also the interior and the wide range of available
equipment make this the ideal BMW for active, versatile personalities.
From the command position the high, characteristic seating position in
a BMW Sports Activity Vehicle the occupants not only see the
surroundings from a pleasant and clear perspective, but also enjoy a
very modern and very spacious interior. Typical BMW elegance and
aesthetics combine with a wide range of practical details and a
youthful sporty ambience appropriate to the vehicle character. An
equally broad range of both classic as well as sporty, modern materials
and colours offers unique possibilities to personalize the interior of
the new X3. In the cockpit the two circular dials are grouped together
in typical BMW style in an elegant binnacle. And right in the middle of
the instrument panel the driver will find the optional 16:9 navigation
system colour monitor, which flips up automatically whenever required.
Lots of space is to be found behind the wide-opening and convenient rear
hatch door, plenty of room for all kinds of sports gear such as
mountain bikes and naturally lots of other things. Numerous storage
compartments then round off the high functionality of the X3, and for
those who want to transport even larger sports equipment, BMW's unique
trailer stability control offers safer towing of boat and other
trailers. This extension of the DSC stability control system naturally
comes as standard, just like automatic HDC Hill Descent Control for
driving downhill safely even on loose or slippery surfaces. In
developing the X3, BMW also focused in particular on active and passive
safety of the highest standard. The engineering principle of BMW's
Sports Activity Vehicles the front drive shaft extending through the
oil sump gives the X3 a very low centre of gravity and reduces body
roll in the process. xDrive's intelligent distribution of torque helps
keep the X3 very stable and sure-footed even in fast bends, so that
many critical situations do not occur right from the outset. And should
they all the same, DSC Dynamic Stability Control will intervene to help
stabilise the vehicle. The new BMW X3 will be available in Europe and
North America from the beginning of 2004. Other markets will follow successively.

Press Contact: Cindy Chia
Tel: +65-6838-9629
E-mail: cindy.chia@bmwasia.com

Press Release,X3,Product,BMW
