Singapore. BMW just took roadside assistance (RSA) up
a notch with the introduction of two new BMW Servicemobiles to help
their customers when the unexpected happens on Singapore roads.
The BMW Servicemobiles are transformed new BMW X1 vehicles and replace
the previous generation BMW X1 vehicles that were used for RSA since 2021.

“You need to consider more than the price, performance and
technological advances when you purchase a new vehicle,” said Lars
Nielsen, Managing Director, BMW Group Asia. “You also need to consider
life after you’re handed the keys. You need to have the peace of mind
knowing that if anything happens while you’re on the road, you’ll be
taken care of. This is what we’re providing our customers in Singapore.”

“With our new fleet of BMW X1 Roadside Assistance Servicemobiles, our

“Beyond the technical support, we also want our customers to relax
and know we care. This comes out even more in the personal touches we
provide with our services, such as umbrellas if it’s raining, water
for temporary relief from the heat, or even cookies during festive
seasons. It’s the little touches that can leave a lasting impression
on a customer in need,” added Divyanathan.

Singapore. BMW Asia announced the availability of the
first-ever BMW iX1 and BMW X1 M35i xDrive – two exciting models from
the popular BMW X1 family. The first-ever BMW iX1 brings the
experience of instantly accessible driving pleasure, modern
versatility and locally emission-free motoring to a vehicle segment
enjoying worldwide growth, making it accessible to a wide target
audience. The first-ever BMW X1 M35i xDrive meanwhile elevates the
characteristics of the BMW X1 with M performance, bringing dynamism,
agility, and precision to the instantly recognisable driving pleasure.

“I am thrilled that two highly anticipated models in the premium
compact SAV segment have finally arrived on our shores,” said Mr. Lars
Nielsen, Managing Director, BMW Group Asia. “Having sold close to
5,500 units of the BMW X1 in the last 10 years, this is proof that our
customers appreciate the sporty presence, spacious interior, and
practicality of this global bestseller.

“Whether it’s the fully-electric BMW iX1 – a Category A COE eligible
vehicle – for those who prefer a vehicle with solid green credentials
or dynamic BMW X1 M35i xDrive for those who desire a high-powered
active lifestyle, there is something for everyone and we are confident
these two models will continue to delight and amaze drivers and
occupants alike.”

Fully electric BMW iX1 has an exemplary carbon footprint.

The introduction of the first-ever BMW iX1 makes an extremely
effective contribution to meeting BMW’s sustainability goals. The BMW
Group is underlining its determination to reduce the use-phase CO2
emissions of its entire fleet across all segments by another 50 per
cent by 2030 compared to the figure for 2019.

A particularly rigorous approach is taken to reducing the CO2
emissions released during production of the fifth-generation BMW
eDrive technology employed in the first-ever BMW iX1. In the supply
chain alone, utilising green electricity for battery cell production
and making increased use of secondary raw materials cuts CO2 emissions
by around 20 per cent compared with a vehicle where these measures are
not deployed.

BMW iX1: a new era of driving pleasure in the compact SAV begins.

BMW is consistently continuing its model offensive in the field of
e-mobility and is presenting another all-electric variant of the new
Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) in the premium compact segment. The
first-ever BMW iX1 enables a particularly attractive and at the same
time economical entry into the world of premium electric mobility.

By expanding its range in the premium compact segment, the BMW Group
is opening up locally emission-free driving pleasure to broad target
groups and thus providing additional impetus for the ramp-up of
e-mobility. The first-ever BMW iX1 is manufactured at the BMW Group
plant in Regensburg, along with the first-ever BMW X1 M35i xDrive.

Highly efficient electric drive, state-of-the-art charging
technology, excellent range.

As in all of the brand's current electric vehicles, the first-ever
BMW iX1 also uses the current fifth generation BMW eDrive technology.
In Singapore, the first-ever BMW iX1 eDrive20 is the first
front-wheel-drive electric car introduced by the brand in the premium
compact segment. A highly integrated drive unit on the front axle of
the new entry-level model generates an instantaneously available
maximum torque of 250 Nm in addition to the maximum output of 110
kW/147 hp. The compact SAV accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 10.5
seconds. Its top speed is electronically limited to 170 km/h.

The high-voltage battery, which is housed in the vehicle floor to
save space, has a usable energy content of 64.8 kWh. Its high energy
density, together with the efficiency of the e-motor, contributes to
the car’s favourable power consumption and delivers an excellent range
compared to the competition. Three-phase AC charging with an output of
up to 22 kW is available in the first-ever BMW iX1. This reduces
charging time to 3:45 hours. The battery can be charged using direct
current with a power of up to 130 kW. The battery's state of charge
can be increased from 10 to 80 percent within 29 minutes at a fast
charging station. The electric power consumption and range of the
first-ever BMW iX1 benefit from the lower drag generated by the
all-electric model’s closed-off BMW kidney grille.

The short charging times result from a particularly efficient
charging software among other things. The charging power can be very
specifically controlled while energy is being fed in. In addition,
anticipatory thermal management ensures that the temperature of the
high-voltage battery is optimally controlled in good time before a
stopover at a fast-charging station. When the navigation system is
active, the battery is automatically pre-conditioned before a planned
charging stop. Pre-conditioning the battery can be manually activated
and deactivated by the customer at any time.

New functions for charging stops.

Important additional information for the charging stops is added in
the route summary, including the car’s estimated charge level upon
arrival, the recommended charging time and the target charge level for
the onward journey. Live data is processed during the journey,
allowing new charging stations to be automatically added to the
itinerary if any of the stations originally planned for charging stops
no longer have availability. The driver is also now offered
alternative charging-optimised routes, where available. By default,
the system is set to ensure that the vehicle reaches both the final
destination and the charging stops with a charge level of at least 10
per cent. Drivers can adjust the size of this charge “cushion”, if
required. Charging the first-ever BMW iX1 is easier than ever before
as the uthorization and start functions for the charging process are
now integrated into the My BMW App.

If the navigation system’s route guidance has planned a mid-journey
stop at a DC charging point, the high-voltage battery of the
first-ever BMW iX1 is pre-heated as the car approaches in order to
ensure the power is taken on board as efficiently as possible. This
pre-conditioning of the battery can also be initiated manually when
the route guidance function is not activated.

With Connected Parking, BMW Maps is also able to provide assistance
when searching for a parking space close to the final destination.
Shortly before arriving, the driver is given information on the
nearest multi-storey car park as well as proposed routes offering a
particularly good chance of finding a parking spot in the vicinity of
the destination. Public charging stations in the area around the
destination are also displayed in the first-ever BMW iX1.

Advanced operation thanks to new BMW iDrive with "QuickSelect".

The first-ever BMW iX1 eDrive20 offers a comprehensive range of
standard equipment, including the BMW Maps navigation system, modern
driver assistance systems, the Parking Assistant including Reversing
Assist Camera and numerous innovative digital services. The new
BMW iDrive with "QuickSelect" and the new BMW Operating
System 9 are also standard equipment. It enables a wider range of
digital content for information and entertainment, faster update
cycles for over-the-air functions as well as optimised access to many
specific online services such as third party apps, extended navigation
and parking services and additional possibilities for personalisation,
for example through further My Modes.

The BMW Curved Display is the heart of the display and control
system. It consists of a 10.25-inch Information Display and a Control
Display with a screen diagonal of 10.7 inches under a common glass
surface curved towards the driver. The latest BMW iDrive generation
features a redesigned start screen with "QuickSelect".

This means that the system has received an improved menu
structure, oriented towards devices from the consumer electronics
sector. "QuickSelect” enables functions to be accessed directly
without having to switch to submenus. This means that the new BMW
iDrive is even more consistently geared towards intuitive touch
operation and control via natural language.

Newly developed seats offer even better comfort.

The newly developed seats in the compact SAV offer classy looks,
optimised comfort over long distances and extended functionality. This
applies to both the standard items and the optional sport seats, which
also stand out with their prominent bolsters and shoulder areas, and
their adjustability of seat angle and depth.

The rear compartment of the first-ever BMW iX1 includes three
full-sized seats with noticeably greater seat comfort than that
offered by the predecessor model. ISOFIX child safety seat fasteners
are integrated into the outer seats, and the 40:20:40 split rear seat
backrests can be folded down to expand the boot capacity. The backrest
angle of the three seat elements can be adjusted separately and
through several stages, allowing either seating comfort or boot
capacity to be increased. The fore-and-aft adjustment of the rear seat
bench available as an option for the purely combustion-engined models
provides even greater versatility.

Two-zone automatic climate control and navigation system as standard.

Two-zone automatic climate control comes as standard in the
first-ever BMW X1, as does the rain sensor with automatic headlight
activation. This system enables separate adjustment of the desired
temperature on the driver’s and front passenger side of the car. It is
operated using voice control or by touch from the control display. The
automatic climate control system in the first-ever BMW iX1 works using
extremely efficient heat pump technology. The all-electric model also
comes as standard with an auxiliary climate control system to heat or
cool the interior before a journey. A Bluetooth interface, four USB-C
ports and a 12V power socket in both the centre console and the boot
all come as standard in all variants of the first-ever BMW iX1.

BMW X1 M35i xDrive: A performance model with unmistakable M character.

The first-ever BMW X1 M35i xDrive builds on the spontaneous driving
pleasure that lies at the heart of the compact SAV concept with an
injection of the dynamism, agility and precision for which M models
are renowned. Its four-cylinder unit is part of the new modular
generation of BMW Group Efficient Dynamics engines and uses
M TwinPower Turbo technology to record maximum output of 300 hp.

The first-ever BMW X1 M35i xDrive races to 100 km/h from rest in 5.4
seconds, while top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h.
M-specific chassis technology – including the option of M Compound
brakes for the first time on a performance model – teams up with BMW
xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive to deliver sublime performance
characteristics. The new range-topping model comes with the type of
exclusive design and equipment features originally reserved for
high-performance cars from BMW M GmbH.

New four-cylinder engine with extra power.

Among the 2.0-litre unit’s M-specific highlights are a new, extremely
robust crankshaft drive, an optimised system of oil supply for the
pistons with cooling channels, and main bearing shells and caps
carried over from the latest-generation six-cylinder in-line petrol
engine. Its M TwinPower Turbo technology has been upgraded by
increasing the performance of the turbocharging system and indirect
charge air cooling at the same time as introducing dual injection for
mixture preparation as a function of load point. The engine generates
its maximum output between 5,750 and 6,500 rpm, while peak torque of
400 Nm is on tap from 2,000 up to 4,500 rpm.

The first-ever BMW X1 M35i xDrive is the first performance model from
BMW M GmbH whose exhaust gases are channelled via two pairs of twin
tailpipes. Nestled neatly into the left and right of the rear apron,
they are a signature feature of high-performance models from BMW M and
have now been adopted by the most powerful member of the compact SAV range.

Seven-speed Steptronic transmission with double clutch and M Sport Boost.

The seven-speed Steptronic transmission fitted in the first-ever
BMW X1 M35i xDrive stands out with its ultra-sharp shift action. Shift
paddles on the steering wheel allow quick manual interventions in the
gear selection process.

The M Sport Boost function is also available for exceptionally rapid
bursts of speed. Here, all the powertrain and chassis systems are
switched to their sportiest setting when the driver pulls on the
left-hand shift paddle for at least one second.

Supreme traction and agility.

The BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system ensures that drive
power is distributed between the front and rear wheels as required in
any situation, assisted by the mechanical limited-slip differential
built into the seven-speed Steptronic transmission. This serves to
limit the difference in speed between the front wheels. With a locking
factor of up to 26 percent, it increases traction over loose terrain
or in adverse weather conditions at the same time as boosting agility
and handling dynamics when taking corners at speed.

Adaptive M suspension and sport steering as standard.

Standard specification for the first-ever BMW X1 M35i xDrive includes
adaptive M suspension, whose mechanically controlled adjustable and
frequency-selective dampers benefit both agility and long-distance
comfort. As a result, the system offers comfortable response when
absorbing minor bumps in the road surface combined with sporty damper
characteristics in dynamic driving situations.

The M-specific chassis technology on the performance model
additionally brings about a 15-millimetre drop in ride height compared
with other BMW X1 model variants. The sport steering that likewise
comes as standard pairs Servotronic speed-sensitive power assistance
with a very direct rack ratio.

Near-actuator wheel slip limitation for sharper agility.

A particularly prominent contributor – alongside the DSC (Dynamic
Stability Control) system – to the first-ever BMW X1 M35i xDrive’s
ever-present combination of unshakable handling poise and supreme
agility is near-actuator wheel slip limitation technology. Here, the
traction control function is integrated into the engine management.
This eliminates the long signal paths to the DSC control unit, meaning
that the corrective inputs are applied up to ten times faster than in
conventional systems and with exceptional precision. Near-actuator
wheel slip limitation thereby ensures optimum traction (even on
slippery roads), unwavering straight-line composure under hard
acceleration, and excellent directional stability in corners.

Design and equipment. An exclusive window into signature M performance.

The first-ever BMW X1 M35i xDrive comes available with M Performance
Aerodynamics package, adding M high-gloss Shadowline exterior trim
with extended elements and M lights Shadowline to the car’s already
expressive exterior design. M light-alloy wheels in an exclusive
twin-spoke design measuring 20 inches in diameter round off the
bespoke chassis specification of the first-ever BMW X1 M35i xDrive.

A front apron with particularly large air intakes ensures the engine,
transmission and brakes can continue to work within their optimum
temperature windows at all times, even under hard driving. Prominent
side skirt extensions, a model-specific roof spoiler and a rear apron
with diffuser inlay vividly showcase the performance-led character of
the new flagship model.

The M kidney grille also sports vertical double bars – a detail
previously only found on high-performance models from BMW M GmbH. When
viewing the range-topping model from the side, black M exterior mirror
caps with twin-stalk design indicate its elevated status.

M-specific interior, with standard M Sport seats.

The distinctive aura on the interior of the first-ever BMW X1 M35i
xDrive is enhanced further still with standard M Sport seats in
Standard equipment for the first-ever BMW X1 M35i xDrive also brings M
Sport seats in Alcantara/Veganza combination. These offer a wide range
of electrical adjustment (including memory function for the driver’s
seat), have integral head restraints and feature an illuminated M logo
in the upper section of the backrests.

The M-specific content on the BMW Curved Display – a fully digital
screen grouping formed by the 10.25-inch information display and the
control display with a screen diagonal of 10.7 inches – sharpens the
driver’s focus on the sporty driving experience.

The likewise M-specific cockpit design also plays its part in
creating a high-intensity performance experience inside the cabin.
Highlights include a Sensatec-covered instrument panel, Aluminium
Hexacube Pale M interior trim elements, an anthracite-coloured
headliner, M pedals, and an M leather steering wheel with gearshift paddles.

Sophisticated features enable precise individualisation.

The first-ever BMW X1 M35i xDrive comes as standard with two-zone
automatic climate control, BMW Live Cockpit Professional including the
BMW Maps navigation system, M roof rails in Black high-gloss,
automatic tailgate operation, and a rain sensor with automatic
headlight activation. Also available are an interior and exterior
mirror package, ambient lighting, and the Harman Kardon sound system.
Already fitted as standard are the front-collision warning system,
Cruise Control with brake function and the Parking Assistant including
Reversing Assist Camera and Reversing Assistant.

Display and control/operation system, connectivity.
Updated BMW iDrive with QuickSelect and BMW Operating System 9.

In order to make selecting and operating numerous functions and
digital services even more intuitive and comfortable, the latest
generation of BMW iDrive offers a newly designed home screen and
QuickSelect functionality. This brings an improved menu structure that
takes its cues from consumer electronics devices. By showing the right
information in the right place, the new BMW iDrive enhances the car’s
focused, assured driving experience.

The updated BMW iDrive system with QuickSelect in the first-ever
BMW X1 M35i xDrive is underpinned by BMW Operating System 9. This
technology enables a broader offering of digital content for
information and entertainment, shorter function update cycles and
improved access to a host of specific online services. BMW iDrive with
QuickSelect also teams up with the BMW Curved Display and BMW
Intelligent Personal Assistant, and is therefore geared squarely to
operation using the touchscreen and natural language.

Singapore. BMW Asia today launched the first-ever BMW
iX1, all-new BMW X2, first-ever BMW i5 M60 xDrive and first-ever BMW
X1 M35i xDrive at the Singapore Motorshow 2024, Singapore’s largest
annual motoring event. From 11-14 January 2024, visitors can discover
the new models at the Suntec City Convention Centre (BMW – Level 4,
Booth 115).

“After an exciting and very successful 2023 that concluded with
multiple expansions in Singapore from our dealer partners, we are
thrilled to kick-off 2024 with the launch of four exciting key
models,” said Mr. Lars Nielsen, Managing Director, BMW Group Asia.
“The first-ever BMW iX1 and all-new BMW X2 will be offered as Category
A COE models, further expanding our premium compact segment offerings
and solidifying our commitment to bring greater choice and flexibility
to our customers across the model range.”

Mr. Nielsen added, “In a continuation of 2023, the first-ever BMW i5
M60 xDrive is another highlight. After the great success of the BMW i4
M50, the BMW i5 M60 xDrive goes one step further in delivering driving
pleasure to M enthusiasts who are conscious about their carbon
footprint. Plus, we are introducing the range topping BMW X1 M35i
xDrive, building on the spontaneous driving pleasure of the BMW X1.”

The first-ever BMW iX1.

As in all of the brand's current electric vehicles, the first-ever
BMW iX1 uses the current fifth generation BMW eDrive technology. A
highly integrated drive unit on the front axle of the entry-level
model generates an instantaneously available maximum torque of 250 Nm
in addition to the maximum output of 110 kW/147 hp. The compact Sports
Activity Vehicle (SAV) accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 10.5
seconds. Its top speed is electronically limited to 170 km/h.

The all-new BMW X2.

The all-new BMW X2 has a distinctive, visually expressive design
showing clear differentiation from the brand’s compact SAV, the BMW
X1. As such, it is instantly identifiable as a pure-bred Sports
Activity Coupé (SAC). Also characteristic of the new model are its
dynamically stretched lines and a generous surface treatment. The
all-new BMW X2 has grown by 194 millimetres in length over its
predecessor to 4,554 millimetres, by 21 millimetres in width to 1,845
millimetres and by 64 millimetres in height to 1,590 millimetres.
Plus, its increased wheelbase and wider tracks benefit space in both
the five seats and the boot. The all-new X2 has a maximum load
capacity of 560 litres.

The first-ever BMW i5 M60 xDrive.

The first-ever BMW i5 M60 xDrive combines an up to 442 kW/601 hp
drive with hallmark M performance and specific design features. Two
highly integrated drive units on the front and rear axles make up an
electric all-wheel drive. The system torque generated is up to 820 Nm
when M Sport Boost or the M Launch Control function is activated. This
enables the first-ever BMW i5 M60 xDrive to accelerate from zero to
100 km/h in 3.8 seconds. Its top speed is electrically limited to 230 km/h.

The first-ever BMW X1 M35i xDrive.

The first-ever BMW X1 M35i xDrive races to 100 km/h from rest in 5.4
seconds with a maximum output of 300hp, while top speed is
electronically limited to 250 km/h. M-specific chassis technology –
including the option of M Compound brakes for the first time on a
performance model – teams up with BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel
drive to deliver sublime performance characteristics. The sharper
character of the first-ever BMW X1 M35i xDrive is clearly apparent
both inside and out. The new range-topping model comes with the type
of exclusive design and equipment features originally reserved for
high-performance cars from BMW M GmbH. These include the two pairs of
exhaust tailpipes.

Digitalisation.

For the first time at the Singapore Motorshow, customers have the
opportunity to interact with the Emotional Virtual Experience (EVE).
Using 3D-rendering software, their vehicle of choice is presented in
almost photo-realistic quality, allowing exploration from all
available angles, including a detailed look at its interior and
exterior in different environments during the day and night.

BMW Lifestyle.

Fans of BMW can show their passion for the brand with the wide range
of BMW Lifestyle products available and enjoy the following perks:

Up to 20% off on merchandise, and exclusive bundles.

tastes for modern palettes. They are welcome to pair their latte with
a black sesame butter toast or earl grey crème toast for a refreshing
delight. Also available is a selection of bubble tea from renowned
chain Koi Thé.

making station where designs like the BMW iX1 can be created to take home.

an exclusive BMW NETS Flashpay card.

Singapore. BMW Asiatoday announced the availability
of the all-new BMW X1 in Singapore. With its robust appearance and
functional versatility, the BMW X1 embodies an authentic experience of
freedom and independence. The interior’s progressive design and
sophisticated ambience, coupled with a refreshed exterior, serve to
underline the Sports Activity Vehicle’s (SAV) deeply embedded premium character.

“The BMW X1 has evolved in terms of design and technology and is more
appealing than ever,” said Mr. Lars Nielsen, Managing Director, BMW
Group Asia. “Customers appreciate its design, practicality, and
driving performance, and have even more to look forward to now. Not
only is the BMW X1 the first BMW X model to be offered with a Category
A COE, customers are also offered 5-year BMW Service Inclusive Plus
and BMW Extended Warranty as part of the standard offer. We are
confident the all-new BMW X1 will make a strong statement and will be
top of mind for SAV customers.”

The all-new BMW X1 is offered in Singapore in two trims – xLine and M
Sport. The SAV is built in BMW Group Plant Regensburg, where models
with combustion engines, plug-in hybrid systems, and all-electric
drive roll off a single assembly line for the first time.

Design: modern surface treatment, increased visual presence
and robust looks in unmistakable BMW X model style.

With its significantly sharper design and increased interior space,
the all-new BMW X1 represents an immediately recognisable leap forward
in development. The surface treatment, lines, and classy exterior
design details of the BMW X1 display its SAV identity more clearly
than ever – distinctive design features include the powerful
proportions, almost square wheel arch contours, and the signature BMW
X model styling of the front and rear ends.

The third model generation has grown in its exterior dimensions –
compared to its predecessor, it clocks in at a length of 4,500 mm (+53
mm), 1,845 mm in width (+24 mm), and a height of 1,642 mm (+44 mm) –
giving it powerful proportions. The new car has a wheelbase of 2,692
mm, 22 mm longer than that of the outgoing model. Track widths have
increased by 31 mm to 1,592 mm at the front axle and 1,593 mm at the
rear axle, enhancing the handling composure and agility.

The upright front end of the BMW X1 gives it a much greater sense of
presence, with slim LED headlights, a large, almost square BMW kidney
grille, and X-shaped lines radiating out to the sides. Adaptive LED
headlights with matrix high beam, pulsating turn indicators, and
variable light distribution are available as standard on both trims in
Singapore. Also included with this feature is an eye-catching Welcome
and Goodbye show produced by the headlights and rear lights when the
driver approaches the car or when the doors have just been locked.

Expressively sculpted surfaces and a long roofline including roof
rails are the distinguishing features of the new model’s dynamically
stretched silhouette. When viewed from the rear, the slim tailgate
window, horizontal lines, striking LED lights and flared wheel arches
produce the typical SAV look.

The robust aura of the all-new BMW X1 can be intensified to great
effect with the specific design elements of the xLine model, which
include stylistic underride protection. The M Sport model places the
focus firmly on dynamic driving pleasure with features such as its
large cooling air inlets.

Both model variants are offered with 19-inch light-alloy wheels in
Singapore. Customers can choose from two solid and ten metallic shades
for the exterior paint finish – including a Frozen paint option from
BMW Individual for the first time.

Interior: progressive ambience, versatile space.

The interior of the all-new BMW X1 has been completely reworked and
given a more futuristic feel as compared to its predecessor. The key
elements of the cabin’s redesign are the slender instrument panel, the
BMW Curved Display, the “floating” armrest with integral control
panel, as well as a vertical smartphone tray at the front of the
centre console.

A raised seating position and a progressive premium ambience drawing
from the BMW iX help to create a distinctive driving experience inside
the BMW X1. In the front section of the centre console, directly below
the central air vent, is space for two cup holders and a smartphone
tray with indirect illumination on both sides. Secured by a movable
clasp, phones can be placed here upright for wireless charging and are
visible to the driver and front passenger. The space underneath the
armrest is used as a storage compartment. Alongside the gear selector
lever (which has a new, reduced design) in the integral control panel
are exquisitely embedded buttons for using vehicle functions. These
include the Start/Stop button, the volume control for the audio
system, and the button for the hazard lights. Among the other
functions activated using the relevant buttons on the control panel
are the parking brake and My Modes.

The newly developed seats are available in Sensatec perforated
upholstery, with sports seats for the driver and front passenger. The
rear compartment of the new BMW X1 includes three full-sized seats
offering a notable improvement in seating comfort. For even greater
versatility, the rear seats can be adjusted fore and aft by 130 mm.
The 40 : 20 : 40 split rear seat backrests can be folded down or
adjusted to a different angle to expand the boot capacity – increasing
it from 540 litres (34 litres more than its predecessor) to a maximum
of 1,600 litres (+50 litres).

The BMW X1 packs value for money with a host of standard equipment.
Features include the BMW Maps navigation system, Comfort Access
function, intelligent two-zone automatic climate control, and a rain
sensor with automatic headlight activation. There are also four USB-C
ports, two 12V power sockets, and a far greater number of driver
assistance systems compared with the outgoing model. Improvements have
also been made to both acoustic comfort and occupant protection. The
integrated passive safety concept now also includes a new interaction
airbag between the front seats.

Standard: BMW Operating System 8 and the new BMW iDrive.

The all-new BMW X1 also treats its occupants to the latest-generation
BMW iDrive multi-sensory vehicle experience in the form of the
standard-fit BMW Live Cockpit Plus. Based on BMW Operating System 8,
it comprises the BMW Curved Display with its state-of-the-art graphics
and menu structure along with the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant
that has now gained additional skills.

The fully digital screen grouping is formed by the 10.25-inch
information display and the control display with a screen diagonal of
10.7 inches. The new BMW iDrive is geared purposefully to providing
intuitive touch and voice control. The broad-based digitalisation of
the interior enables the number of physical buttons, controls and
switches required for operation to be significantly reduced. The new
My Modes combine individually selectable vehicle settings with
matching experience worlds for the interior.

Efficient Dynamics – uncompromised performance.

The all-new BMW X1 is powered by a compact 1.5-litre engine with BMW
TwinPower Turbo technology in front-wheel drive. The engine is paired
to a 7-speed Steptronic double-clutch transmission, with the M Sport
variant featuring gearshift paddles on the steering wheel for quick
manual selection of gears. The BMW X1 delivers 122 hp and a fuel
economy of 6.8 L/100km. With 230Nm of torque available across a wide
rev band of 1,500-3,600 rpm, the SAV accelerates from 0-100 km/h in
10.5 seconds, and reaches a maximum speed of 200 km/h. Its
CO2 emissions measure at 156 g/km, allowing the BMW X1 to
achieve a neutral banding in the Vehicle Emissions Scheme without any penalty.

All-rounder offering optimum blend of agility and ride comfort.

The all-new BMW X1 offers well-resolved handling characteristics in
any situation and delivers the driving experience for which the brand
is renowned. The compact all-rounder’s sophisticated chassis
technology produces a perfectly harmonious balance between sporty,
agile handling on the one hand, and long-distance comfort on the
other. All the tools required here are provided by a body construction
that reduces weight while increasing rigidity, a long wheelbase, wider
tracks than the predecessor model, and targeted upgrades to the
single-joint spring strut axle at the front and the three-link rear axle.

Near-actuator wheel slip limitation is fitted as standard, benefiting
both traction and directional stability. Other new features include
the integrated braking system and the extra, lift-related damping at
the front axle – this feature reduces body movement when driving over
small bumps. All components of the single-joint spring strut axle at
the front have been developed almost completely from scratch. The new
axle kinematics and increase rigidity help give the car agile turn-in
response and steering feel that is largely unaffected by torque steer.
On the M Sport variant, the adaptive M suspension features
frequency-selective damping, sport steering and a 15-millimetre drop
in ride height.

Wide variety of systems for automated driving and parking.

The technological advances made in the all-new BMW X1 are also
evident in the automated driving and parking systems available.
Standard features include Cruise Control with brake function and the
front-collision warning system, which is now also capable of detecting
oncoming traffic when turning right (in countries where vehicles drive
on the left) and pedestrians and cyclists when turning left. The
Parking Assistant including Reversing Assist Camera and Reversing
Assistant also forms part of the standard equipment roster.

The Lane Change Warning consistently monitors the zones to each side
of the vehicle, and detects vehicles in the ‘blind spot’ from speeds
of above 20 km/h. Rear Crossing Traffic Warning supports the driver in
situations such as reversing out of parking spaces and brakes to avoid
potential collisions in situations where it is difficult for the
driver to monitor the entire surrounding. Another particularly useful
feature is the exit warning function which detects approaching
vehicles and cyclists, and warns the driver and/or passengers through
an acoustic signal together with flashing LEDs in the mirror and
ambient lighting system when opening doors. Additional features such
as the BMW Drive Recorder can be optioned in Singapore by means of the
Remote Software Upgrades facility.

My BMW App: a universal digital interface between driver and vehicle.

The My BMW smartphone app acts as a universal digital interface that
provides information on the vehicle’s status at any time, from any
location. Additionally, it enables remote operation of functions such
as vehicle locating, locking and unlocking the doors, or monitoring
the car’s immediate vicinity (Remote 3D View). Features also include
the ability to send destination addresses from a suitably equipped
smartphone to the vehicle’s navigation system. The My BMW App
additionally provides customers with a direct link to their BMW dealer
and the BMW brand, allowing them to arrange service appointments, for
example, or find out the latest BMW news.

The all-new BMW X1 is now available for viewing at all authorised BMW showrooms.

Munich. With its robust appearance and functional
versatility, the new BMW X1 embodies an authentic experience of
freedom and independence in day-to-day driving and on longer
journeys. The interior’s progressive design and sophisticated
ambience, and the much broader selection of standard equipment
compared to the outgoing model, serve to underline its deeply
embedded premium character.

At launch in October 2022, there will initially be a choice of two
petrol and two diesel engines. These will link up with a seven-speed
Steptronic transmission with double clutch as standard, and their
drive power will be channelled to the road via either the front
wheels or the BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system,
depending on the model. This starting quartet will immediately be
followed by the all-electric BMW iX1 xDrive30 (electric power
consumption, combined in the WLTP cycle: 18.4 – 17.3 kWh/100 km; CO2
emissions: 0 g/km; figures in NEDC cycle: –; estimates based on the
car’s current development stage) as well as by a pair of plug-in
hybrid models and another two conventionally powered variants with
48V mild hybrid technology. The new BMW X1 will be built at BMW
Group Plant Regensburg, where models with combustion engines,
plug-in hybrid systems and all-electric drive will all roll off a
single assembly line for the first time.

The BMW iX1 will bring the experience of locally emission-free
driving pleasure to a vehicle segment enjoying worldwide growth,
making it accessible to a very wide target audience. The compact SAV
powered by the latest BMW eDrive technology will therefore give a
major boost to the accelerated ramp-up of electric mobility. The
improvements in sustainability compared to the predecessor model can
be partly attributed not just to the wide-ranging electrification
measures, but also the increased use of green energy, both for
production and in the supply chain, and the greater quantities of
secondary raw materials and natural materials used.

Design: modern surface treatment, increased visual presence
and robust looks in unmistakable BMW X model style.

The surface treatment, lines and classy exterior design details of
the BMW X1 display its Sports Activity Vehicle identity more clearly
than ever in its third model generation. Distinctive design features
include the powerful proportions, almost square wheel arch contours
and the signature BMW X model styling of the front and rear ends.

The upright front end of the new BMW X1 gives it a much greater
sense of presence, with slim LED headlights, a large, almost square
BMW kidney grille, X-shaped lines radiating out to the sides and
eye-catching chrome strips in the lower air intake serving as its
defining elements. Adaptive LED headlights with matrix high beam,
pulsating turn indicators and variable light distribution are
available as an option.

Expressively sculpted surfaces and a long roofline are the
distinguishing features of the new model’s dynamically stretched
silhouette. When viewed from the rear, the slim tailgate window,
horizontal lines, striking LED lights and flared wheel arches
produce the typical SAV look.

The robust aura of the new BMW X1 can be intensified to great
effect with the specific design elements of the xLine model, which
include stylistic underride protection. The M Sport model also
offered as an alternative to base specification places the focus
firmly on dynamic driving pleasure with features such as its large
cooling air inlets.

All model variants come as standard with 17-inch light-alloy
wheels. 18-inch light-alloy wheels are fitted on xLine and M Sport
cars, although these models are also available with 19-inch and – in
a first for the BMW X1 – 20‑inch wheels. Customers can choose from
two solid and ten metallic shades for the exterior paint finish –
including a Frozen paint option from BMW Individual for the first time.

Interior: progressive ambience, versatile space.

A raised seating position and a progressive premium ambience styled
on the BMW iX help to create a distinctive driving experience inside
the compact SAV. The key elements of the cabin’s redesign are the
slender instrument panel, the BMW Curved Display, the “floating”
armrest with integral control panel and the smartphone tray with
indirect illumination at the front of the centre console.

The newly developed seats are available with the option of both
Sensatec perforated and Vernasca leather upholstery. Also to be
found on the options list are sport seats, electric seat adjustment
with memory function and lumbar support including massage function.
Improvements have been made to both acoustic comfort and occupant
protection. The integrated passive safety concept now also includes
a new interaction airbag between the front seats.

The rear compartment of the new BMW X1 includes three full-sized
seats offering a notable improvement in seating comfort. The
40 : 20 : 40 split rear seat backrests can be folded down or
adjusted to a different angle to expand the boot capacity. The
fore-and-aft adjustment of the rear seats available as an option for
the purely combustion-engined models provides even greater
versatility. Boot capacity can be increased from 540 to a maximum of
1,600 litres. The trailer tow hitch available to order as an option
for the new BMW X1 is now operated electrically at the touch of a button.

Two-zone automatic climate control, Sport leather steering
wheel and BMW Maps as standard.

The BMW Maps navigation system, a Sport leather steering wheel,
intelligent two-zone automatic climate control and a rain sensor
with automatic headlight activation all come as standard in the new
generation of the BMW X1, as do four USB-C ports, two 12V power
sockets and a far greater number of driver assistance systems
compared with the outgoing model.

Restructured equipment packages enable targeted individualisation
of the car. The premium character can be turned up another notch by
optional features such as the mirror package, ambient lighting,
panoramic glass sunroof and Harman Kardon Sound System.

BMW iX1: a new era of driving pleasure in the compact SAV begins.

The BMW iX1 xDrive30 is the first all-wheel-drive electric car
introduced by the brand in the premium compact segment. Two highly
integrated drive units at the front and rear axles deliver a
combined output of 230 kW/313 hp (taking the temporary boost effect
into account), and post overall torque of 494 Nm (364 lb-ft). The
electric all-wheel-drive system ensures supreme traction and
directional stability in all situations. The BMW iX1 xDrive30
completes the 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint in 5.7 seconds.

The fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology additionally comprises
the car’s highly efficient charging technology, including the
improved charging software also found in the BMW i7, and a
high-voltage battery positioned flat within the vehicle’s underbody,
whose high energy density gives the car a range of 413 –
438 kilometres (257 – 272 miles). (The figures relating to output,
performance, energy consumption and range for the BMW iX1 xDrive30
are predicted values based on the car’s current stage of development.)

Plug-in hybrid models with increased electric range, petrol
and diesel engines with 48V mild hybrid technology.

Fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology is also employed in the
plug-in hybrid variants of the new BMW X1, which means significant
advances over the preceding generation in terms of sporting prowess,
efficiency and charging capacity. There has also been a substantial
increase in electric range.

The new BMW X1 will be launched with a choice of conventional
combustion engines featuring two petrol and two diesel units from
the BMW Group’s new modular generation of Efficient Dynamics
engines. Second-generation 48V mild hybrid technology with an
electric motor integrated into the seven-speed Steptronic
transmission is on hand to help boost both efficiency and power
delivery in the two most powerful engines.

This enables the four-cylinder BMW X1 xDrive23i (fuel consumption
combined: 7.2 – 6.5 l/100 km [39.2 – 43.5 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions
combined: 162 – 146 g/km in WLTP cycle; figures in NEDC cycle: – )
to produce maximum output of 160 kW/218 hp (developed by the
combination of the combustion engine with up to 150 kW/204 hp and
the integral electric motor with up to 14 kW/19 hp). Also in the
launch line-up is the new BMW X1 sDrive18i (fuel consumption
combined: 7.0 – 6.3 l/100 km [40.4 – 44.8 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions
combined: 158 – 143 g/km in WLTP cycle; NEDC cycle: – ) powered by a
115 kW/156 hp three-cylinder engine.

A four-cylinder diesel engine combines with mild hybrid technology
in the new BMW X1 xDrive23d (fuel consumption combined: 5.4 – 4.8 l/
100 km [52.3 – 58.9 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined:142 – 125 g/km
in WLTP cycle; NEDC cycle: – ) to deliver maximum output of 155
kW/211 hp (developed by the combination of the combustion engine
with up to 145 kW/197 hp and the integral electric motor with up to
14 kW/19 hp). The four-cylinder diesel unit in the new BMW X1
sDrive18d (fuel consumption combined: 5.5 – 4.9 l/100 km [51.4 –
57.6 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 145 – 129 g/km in WLTP cycle;
NEDC cycle: – ) generates 110 kW/150 hp.

All-rounder offering optimum blend of agility and ride comfort.

Irrespective of the drive system fitted, all new BMW X1 models
offer well-resolved handling characteristics in any situation and
deliver the driving experience for which the brand is renowned. The
compact all-rounder’s sophisticated chassis technology produces a
perfectly harmonious balance between sporty, agile handling on the
one hand and long-distance comfort on the other. All the tools
required here are provided by a body construction that reduces
weight while increasing rigidity, a long wheelbase, wider tracks
than the predecessor model, and targeted upgrades to the
single-joint spring strut axle at the front and the three-link rear axle.

Near-actuator wheel slip limitation is fitted as standard in the
new BMW X1, benefiting both traction and directional stability.
Other new features include the integrated braking system and the
extra, lift-related damping at the front axle. The optional adaptive
M suspension features frequency-selective damping, sport steering
and a 15-millimetre drop in ride height.

Wide variety of systems for automated driving and parking.

The technological advances made in the new BMW X1 compared with the
outgoing model are also evident in the far greater variety of
automated driving and parking systems available to use. Standard
features include Cruise Control with brake function and the
front-collision warning system, which is now also capable of
detecting oncoming traffic when turning left (in countries where
vehicles drive on the right) and pedestrians and cyclists when
turning right. The Parking Assistant including Reversing Assist
Camera and Reversing Assistant also forms part of the standard
equipment roster.

The list of optional features, meanwhile, includes the Steering and
Lane Control Assistant, Active Cruise Control with Stop&Go
function, Active Navigation, exit warning function and BMW Head-Up
Display, as well as the Surround View, Remote 3D View, BMW Drive
Recorder and Remote Theft Recorder functions. Existing functions can
be upgraded by means of the Remote Software Upgrades facility, which
also makes it possible to add new functions (availability depends on
the hardware fitted in the vehicle and the market conditions).

Standard: BMW Operating System 8 and the new BMW iDrive.

The new BMW X1 also treats its occupants to the latest-generation
BMW iDrive multi-sensory vehicle experience in the form of the
standard-fit BMW Live Cockpit Plus. Based on BMW Operating System 8,
it comprises the BMW Curved Display with its state-of-the-art
graphics and menu structure along with the BMW Intelligent Personal
Assistant that has now gained additional skills. The fully digital
screen grouping is formed by the 10.25-inch information display and
the control display with a screen diagonal of 10.7 inches. The new
BMW iDrive is geared purposefully to providing intuitive touch and
voice control. The broad-based digitalisation of the interior
enables the number of physical buttons, controls and switches
required for operation to be significantly reduced.

The new My Modes combine individually selectable vehicle settings
with matching experience worlds for the interior. The Augmented View
function is available as an optional add-on for the cloud-based BMW
Maps navigation system. An interior camera makes it possible to take
snapshots of the occupants or have images of the interior sent to
the customer’s smartphone. In addition to this, a Personal eSIM
designed for 5G mobile technology, the BMW Digital Key Plus, the
BMW ID functionality and smartphone integration using both Apple
CarPlay® and Android Auto™ are also all available in the new BMW X1.

Singapore. BMW Asia and Performance Motors Limited
today announced the availability of the new BMW X1, a bold, sporty and
visually striking car that adds another chapter to the Sports Activity
Vehicle’s ongoing success story.

Since it was launched in late 2015, the current-generation BMW X1 has
shown it has what it takes to be a winner. In 2018 it was not only the
highest-selling BMW X model worldwide, it also led the way in its
segment as a whole over the same time period with 286,827 units
delivered to customers. Around 40% of all BMW X1 cars were sold to
owners in Europe, while one in ten left the production line bound for
the USA, which duly became its third-largest sales market.

The reasons for the sustained success of the BMW X1 are many and
varied. On the one hand, it displays exactly those attributes which
mark out its target customers: it is young, sporty and active. But it
also out-performs arguably every other car in its segment in combining
the driving pleasure for which BMW is renowned with versatility,
functional appeal and cutting-edge technology. Ever since it arrived
on the scene, the BMW X1 has made a compelling case for itself with
its unmistakable design.

That design has been buffed and polished once again as part of the
model update and now cuts a significantly more striking, sportier and
more powerful figure. Armed with sporty yet efficient three- and
four-cylinder BMW TwinPower Turbo engines, standout driving
characteristics, extensive infotainment options and an updated range
of BMW ConnectedDrive Services, the new BMW X1 is all set to further
build on its leading position in the market over the years ahead.

At the same time, the new BMW X1 also has its sights fixed firmly on
subsequent stages in its development. Next year, the extremely
efficient models in the BMW X1 line-up will be joined for the first
time by the plug-in hybrid BMW X1 xDrive25e.

Design.

The model update for the new BMW X1 has imbued an already deeply
handsome exterior with even greater aesthetic allure. The design of
the new BMW X1 strengthens its case as every inch the authentic,
powerful and dynamic Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV). The front end, in
particular, has a more muscular, dominant and imposing presence, as
evidenced by the new, larger BMW grille – whose kidneys now merge in
the middle – and the sharper light iconography of the new LED
headlights. Added to which, the front bumper now displays an even more
dynamic use of forms. All model variants feature larger air intakes,
underscoring the sporting genes of the new BMW X1.

Exterior mirrors with an X projection.
Another
highlight (in the true sense of the word) can be found at the
driver’s-side exterior mirror, which projects a two-tone LED “X1”
image when the car is unlocked. But this “welcome show”, which also
includes illumination of the door handle recess, is far from just a
visual trick; it also makes getting into and out of the new BMW X1
that much simpler by making it easier to spot obstacles such as bumps
or puddles. This function is part of the optional lighting package.

Stylistic changes have also been carried out to the rear of the new
BMW X1, with the rear apron making a particularly vivid impression.
The redesigned inlays here are a standard feature and adopt the body
colour of the new BMW X1, which gives the rear end as a whole an even
greater feeling of class and coherence.

Eye-catching LED rear lights and tailpipes.
The
standard LED rear lights of the new BMW X1 likewise have a new design,
a single LED bar drawing the familiar L signature from side to side.
The horizontal design of the LED rear lights also underscores the
width of the rear end and the muscular stance of the new BMW X1 on the road.

Another head-turning feature of the new BMW X1 is the new exhaust
tailpipes. Their diameter has increased from 70 mm to 90 mm,
advertising the power of the three- and four-cylinder BMW TwinPower
Turbo engines and hinting at the driving pleasure they conjure up. The
four-cylinder variants get twin tailpipes.

Three new exterior colours, four new wheel
designs.
Also newly available for the new BMW X1 are the
exterior colour shades Jucaro Beige metallic, Misano Blue metallic
(for the M Sport variant) and the ultra-exclusive BMW Individual Storm
Bay metallic.

The new BMW X1 comes as standard with 17-inch wheels (sDrive18i),
18-inch wheels (sDrive18i xLine) and 19-inch wheels (sDrive20i M
Sport) while the model update adds four new wheel designs to the
options list: 18-inch light-alloy wheels in Style 578 with black rims
and Style 579 (for the xLine variant), new Style 580 19-inch
light-alloy wheels and – exclusively for the M Sport variant – Style
816M 19-inch light-alloy items. This wheel design can also be
specified as an option with M Sport brakes, which showcase the motor
racing pedigree of BMW M GmbH and provide top-drawer braking
performance. The optional M Sport brakes have fixed callipers at the
front axle, larger discs than the standard items and coloured
callipers. This high-performance braking system ensures excellent
stopping ability in all conditions, as well as increased thermal
stability and resistance to fade.

New look for the M Sport model variant.
The
design of the new BMW X1 sDrive20i M Sport already exudes a familiar
athleticism, thanks to M Sport suspension (which brings a
ten-millimetre drop in ride height), BMW Individual High-gloss Shadow
Line trim with extended features and the M Aerodynamics package. The
front apron, side skirts, wheel arch trim, diffuser and cladding on
the car come in body colour.

The newly designed front end adds an extra dose of fuel to the car’s
dynamic aesthetic. Particularly eye-catching here are features such as
air intakes for the newly designed bumper (with Air Curtain
technology) that are even larger than on the other model variants,
plus the striking BMW kidney grille. These combine with the
standard-fitted 19-inch light-alloy wheels to create an undeniably
dynamic appearance for the new BMW X1 sDrive20i M Sport that embodies
the M genes to near-flawless effect.

Driving dynamics.

The new BMW X1 demonstrates its qualities most prominently while on
the move. The heartbeat of the new model is supplied by a spread of
three- and four-cylinder engines. Efficient and sporty in equal
measure, their power is translated – via a cutting-edge
front-wheel-drive configuration – into dynamic performance on the road
and supreme driving pleasure over rough terrain.

Optimum balance of dynamics and comfort.
The
suspension technology built into the new BMW X1 provides all models
with the fleet-footed agility familiar to existing BMW X1 drivers,
delivers precisely controllable handling and imbues the car with
sublime overall dynamics. Together with the car’s low centre of
gravity, almost even weight distribution, wide track, short overhangs
and high level of body and chassis rigidity, the suspension lays the
foundations for a familiar BMW driving experience – one no other
vehicle in the segment can match.

Interior, equipment and ConnectedDrive.
The new BMW X1 brings BMW’s hallmark driving pleasure to the
road in hugely convincing style. But the versatility and cleverness of
its interior are similarly persuasive. The new BMW X1 cabin blends
cutting-edge technology with generous levels of space and numerous
smart and functional solutions. These provide a helping hand for the
driver, raise comfort levels yet another notch and ensure the new BMW
X1 is every bit as flexible as its occupants need it to be.

An extensive range of standard equipment and numerous attractive
options underscore the premium mission statement of the compact BMW X
model. xLine and M Sport variants are available as an alternative to
Base specification, and each stands apart with its own unique looks
and equipment to match.

Focusing on functionality and comfort.
The new
BMW X1 pulls off the balancing act of compact dimensions on the
outside, but generous proportions, comfort and a feeling of
spaciousness on the inside, with an intelligent vehicle structure and
smartly conceived interior configuration. The driver and front
passenger enjoy freedom of movement, but so too do those in the rear
seats. These can be folded down in three sections (40:20:40) as
standard, enabling considerable scope for variability – e.g. when it
comes to stowing and transporting sports equipment.

The rear seats can be adjusted fore and aft, the two sections of the
60:40 split seat surface sliding forward independently by up to 13 cm.
The backrest angle of the rear seats can also be varied through six stages.

Additional comfort and convenience when it comes to utilising the
load-carrying ability of the new BMW X1 is provided by the standard
automatic tailgate operation, which allows the tailgate to be opened
and closed electrically. Hands-free tailgate opening and closing is
also available, courtesy of the standard Comfort Access system. This
allows shopping bags, for example, to be loaded directly into the 505
– 1,550-litre boot without having to open the tailgate using a key or
release handle.

Quality in the details.
The new interior details
with which the new BMW X1 highlights its impressive quality
proposition are particularly deserving of a closer look. These include
the new contrast stitching on the instrument panel, which is black on
its upper section and adopts the car’s individual upholstery colour
lower down. This contrast stitching is available for xLine and M Sport
variants of the new BMW X1, which also feature coloured edging for the
floor mats, plus contrast stitching for the edging.

The new BMW X1 is offered with Sensatec upholstery as standard. New
for cars with the Base equipment level and optional sports seats is
the optional cloth/Sensatec combination in Anthracite with Grey
accenting. The new BMW X1 sDrive20i M Sport can be fitted with
optional Micro Hexagon fabric/Sensatec upholstery in Black with M
piping. No fewer than 13 colour and material combinations are
available for the interior of the new BMW X1.

M safety belts in customary M design are available as an option for
the M Sport variant and add a particularly classy detail to the mix.
The front and rear seats also stand out with their M-specific and
decidedly sporty seam pattern.

The standard lighting package allows drivers to bathe the interior of
their new BMW X1 in a stylishly lit ambience with freely selectable
colour tones (Orange, Violet, Green, Bronze, Blue and White). The LED
illumination rings the interior through to the rear.

Freestanding Control Display with voice control and
touchscreen operation.
Cast an eye over the digital
services and infotainment equipment of new BMW X1, and its technical
credentials are crystal clear. At the heart of the action is the
freestanding Control Display.

The new BMW X1 is fitted as standard with an 8.8-inch Touch Control
Display. If a navigation system is specified, either an 8.8-inch or
the new 10.25-inch Touch Control Display comes as part of the package.
This display concept gives the driver a quick overview of the most
important information of the moment – e.g. using the tiles arranged in
the display’s main menu. This key information is therefore always
visible and easy to access.

The display is extremely easy to work with. This sixth generation of
the iDrive operating concept introduces touchscreen control for the
Control Display to the user’s toolkit alongside the iDrive Controller
and optional voice control. This move sees the new BMW X1 adopting the
familiar and intuitive operating logic of a smartphone.

Another head-turning element of the cockpit is the modern black-panel
technology included as standard in every new BMW X1 for the instrument
cluster. It comes with a 2.7-inch TFT Info Display in base trim or a
5.7-inch TFT Info Display if a navigation system has been specified.

A further highlight is the optionally available full-colour Head-up
Display, which projects all important driving information and
navigation/assistance system readouts onto the windscreen and
therefore into the driver’s field of view – in high resolution. The
new BMW X1 is the only vehicle in its segment to offer a system of
this kind.

Intelligent connectivity with BMW
ConnectedDrive.
The integration of BMW Connected and BMW
ConnectedDrive Services places the needs of the new BMW X1 driver at
centre stage. The digital services and convenience-enhancing functions
assist the person at the wheel with the task of driving and much more besides.

BMW Connected creates a digital bridge between the user’s smartphone
and their car. It represents the next stage of in-car personalisation
and enables the transfer of smartphone content onto the Control
Display in the new BMW X1, resulting in easier display and operation
when inside the car. The BMW Connected app makes it possible to send
destinations directly from a smartphone to the X1’s navigation system.
Once route guidance has been activated, the Real Time Traffic
Information service (standard on xLine and M Sport variant) shows the
traffic situation in real time and helps the driver to react quickly
to possible obstructions.

The new BMW X1 is now available for viewing at the Performance Motors
Limited showroom.

Media Information

01 October 2015

The all-new BMW X1.

Urban all-rounder delivers boundless driving pleasure.

Singapore. BMW Group Asia and Performance Motors Ltd
have unveiled the all-new BMW X1, which will be retailing as the BMW
X1 sDrive20i.

“The all-new BMW X1 is the successor to the model that blazed the
trail for this class of car. The second generation of this successful
model, with more than 730,000 units sold worldwide, takes to the stage
with a body design straight out of the BMW X model mould. The interior
of the all-new BMW X1, meanwhile, offers significantly more space for
passengers and luggage, a cutting-edge premium ambience and
functionality grounded in solid engineering,” said Mr Anutarasoti
Sethipong, Corporate Affairs Director of BMW Group Asia. “The all-new
BMW X1 further comes with the new-generation four-cylinder engines and
a newly developed chassis technology all help to palpably enhance
sporting ability and ride comfort compared to the outgoing model, with
fuel consumption and emissions reduced by up to 10 percent, model-on-model.”

New engine family.

Powered by EfficientDynamics technology.

The all-new BMW X1 sDrive20i uses all-new powertrain and chassis
technology to build systematically on the compact BMW X model’s
stand-out position as the epitome of versatile sporting ability in its
segment. Front/transverse-mounted four-cylinder engines from the BMW
Group’s latest generation provide the power, which is converted into
dynamic propulsion on the road and assured driving pleasure on loose
terrain via an advanced front-wheel-drive configuration.

The all-new BMW X1 sDrive20i is powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder
petrol unit that can deliver maximum power of 192 hp (+4% vs
predecessor) and a maximum torque of up to 280Nm (+4% vs predecessor)
from 1,250 to 4,600 rpm. It is able to accelerate from 0-100km/h in
7.7 seconds. It has an average fuel consumption of 6.1 litres/100km
(improved by 9% vs predecessor) and an average CO2 emission of 141
g/km (improved by 10% vs predecessor) [as per average EU test cycle].

New sophisticated chassis technology.

Optional Variable Sports Steering and Dynamic Damper Control.

The chassis technology of the original X1 has been totally
redeveloped for the new model and now comprises single-joint strut
suspension at the front and a multi-link rear axle. Aluminium swivel
bearings, as well as axle carriers and control arms made from
high-strength steel, reduce weight and increase the rigidity of the
front axle, which in turn helps to ensure an agile turn-in response
and direction-changing precision. The rear axle also employs a high
proportion of high-strength steels. Tube-shaped anti-roll bars at the
front and rear axle, innovative axle mounting and specially tuned
elastokinematics contribute to the agility and ride comfort of the
all-new BMW X1, as do the connection of the dampers to the body via
sophisticated three-way support mounts.

The all-new BMW X1 is equipped as standard with Servotronic
speed-sensitive steering assistance, while a new item on the options
list is Variable Sports Steering. This system allows parking and
turning-off manoeuvres to be completed safely and comfortably with
little steering effort and at higher speeds drivers can also look
forward to the steering precision and straight-line stability for
which BMW is renowned. M Sport suspension is furthermore available as
a special option, featuring a distinctly tauter spring and damper
setting and a 10-mm-lower ride height.

Another option available for the first time in the BMW X1 is the
Dynamic Damper Control system. The electronically controlled dampers
improve the primary and secondary ride of the new BMW X models and
sharpen their dynamic attributes. Two damper control settings can be
activated using the Driving Experience Control switch.

The Driving Experience Control switch on the centre console allows
the driver to give the car’s set-up an even sportier, more
comfort-oriented or efficiency optimised character. Calling up
COMFORT, SPORT or ECO PRO mode at the touch of a button adapts the
responses of the accelerator pedal and steering. The shift
characteristics of the automatic transmission and the damper settings
are also adjusted if the relevant equipment has been specified.

ECO PRO mode, when activated via the Driving Experience Control
switch, also allows drivers of the all-new BMW X1 models with
eight-speed Steptronic transmission to make use of the coasting
function. At speeds between 50 and 160 km/h, the powertrain is
disengaged as soon as the driver takes his or her foot off the
accelerator. Further efficiency gains have been achieved with items
including reduced-friction wheel bearings and tyres with lower rolling resistance.

The DSC stability system includes features such as the Anti-lock
Braking System (ABS), Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), Cornering Brake
Control (CBC), Dynamic Brake Control (DBC), Brake Assist system,
Fading Compensation, a Dry Braking function and a Start-Off Assistant.
Other technology available to customers includes the trailer
stabilisation function, Active Differential Brake (ADB) function and
Performance Control. When DSC is deactivated, an electronic locking
function for the front axle differential – known as Electronic
Differential Lock Control (EDLC) – comes into play. In tight corners
it stops a spinning wheel as required and ensures power is diverted to
the other wheel.

The BMW X1 sDrive20i is fitted as standard with 18-inch light-alloy
wheels with xLine.

On-demand cooling, optimised lines.

Systematic improvements have also been made to the aerodynamics of
the all-new BMW X1. Air flaps in the BMW kidney grille and the front
apron’s lower intake can be actively shut off when the cooling
requirement is low, reducing drag at the front of the car. The Air
Curtains integrated into the outer air intakes channel the onrushing
air precisely behind the front side panels, causing it to hang over
the wheels like a curtain and thus reduce turbulence. The all-new BMW
X1 also has smooth underbody paneling, air deflectors on the front
wheel arches and vertical aeroblades, which form a unit with the roof
spoiler to channel the airflow around the rear of the car to best
effect. With the drag coefficient (Cd) of the X1 now as low as 0.29,
depending on the model variant, the new model also leads the way in
its segment when it comes to aerodynamics.

Exterior: Commanding Presence, Robust Proportions.

The large, upright BMW kidney grille, three-section lower air intake
and characteristic “six-eyed” look formed by the twin circular
headlights and foglamps below them are the stand-out features of the
new model’s front end. Flared wheel arches and lines converging in an
X-shape into the kidney grille likewise contribute to the
authoritative presence customary of BMW X models. Standard
specification for the all-new BMW X1 includes LED daytime driving
lights, as well as full-LED headlights for low and high beam – which
generate a particularly white light that is close to daylight.

At 4,439mm long, 1,821mm wide and 1,598mm tall, the proportions of
the all-new BMW X1 follow the Sports Activity Vehicle blueprint in
compact form. The new car has grown most notably in height compared to
its predecessor (+53mm), which helps to create extra space in the
interior. Black borders on the lower edge of the body, the square
contour of the wheel cutouts and the generous volume of the surfaces
above them all underline the solid stature of the compact BMW X model.
The athletic impression created by the side view is complemented by a
model specific, dynamic wedge shape formed by the roofline,
eye-catching character lines and window surfaces that taper towards
the rear.

The central section of the all-new BMW X1’s rear apron rises up
significantly, mimicking a characteristic element of the front-end
design. When specified with the optional full-LED units, the
two-section, L-shaped rear lights produce an even band of light. Their
flat outline emphasises the width of the rear end, with the vertically
arranged black aeroblades, which fit flush with the roof spoiler,
adding sporting accents.

Customers can choose from two non-metallic and ten metallic exterior
paint finishes for their all-new BMW X1. The Estoril Blue metallic
shade is also offered exclusively for the M Sport model.

Interior: A harmonious balance between driver focus and
luxuriant elegance.

With its fine balance of a driver-focused cockpit design and elegance
shaped by generously-sized surfaces, the interior of the all-new BMW
X1 fits the classic stylistic template of a Sports Activity Vehicle.
The flat surfaces of the instrument panel and centre console controls
angled towards the driver help them maintain unruffled control over
the car’s progress. The controls located in the lower section of the
centre console are surrounded by high-quality surfaces and are marked
off from the front passenger side by a newly designed bar. The
instrument cluster, consisting of two circular instruments and framed
by a small binnacle, also helps the driver to focus on the driving experience.

The iDrive operating system’s Control Display comes in the form of a
6.5-inch or, optionally, 8.8-inch freestanding monitor. The interior
trim strip and air vents are bordered by an accent strip spanning the
full width of the instrument panel. The interior strip and accent
strip extend through the door panel trim, with the effect that
occupants in all seats are surrounded by surfaces with a uniform
material and colour structure.

The raised seating position (by 36mm in the front and 64mm in the
rear compared to the predecessor model), increased headroom, shoulder
room and elbow room available to all occupants inside the all-new BMW
X1, along with the horizontal surface design in the interior, create
generous levels of space and an ambience typical of a Sports Activity
Vehicle. Knee room at the rear has increased by 37mm in standard
specification and by up to 66mm with the optionally adjustable rear
seat, while boot capacity of 505 litres represents an 85-litre
improvement on the first-generation X1 and can be increased further to
as much as 1,550 litres by folding down the standard 40 : 20 :
40-split rear seat bench. A 60 : 40-split rear bench is optionally
available with individual elements that can slide forward or back by
up to 13cm, allowing seating comfort and storage capacity to be
adjusted even more precisely to needs. Its individual elements can
slide back or forwards by 13cm and the backrest angle is also
adjustable. The folding process for the backrests can be initiated
electrically from the boot area at the touch of a button. As an
option, the front passenger seat backrest can also be folded down,
further increasing variability.

Optional Head-Up Display and Driving Assistant Plus.

A new addition to the range of BMW ConnectedDrive features is the
optional BMW Head-Up Display which, as in the larger BMW X models,
projects driving-related information directly onto the windscreen. The
all-new BMW X1 can now also be optionally specified with the Driving
Assistant Plus line-up of the Active Cruise Control system with Stop
& Go function, Lane Departure Warning, Traffic Jam Assistant,
Collision Warning and Pedestrian Warning with City Braking function.
These optional systems are complemented by an up-to-the-minute
selection of apps allowing customers to add to the car’s comfort,
navigation and infotainment functionality, as desired.

BMW ConnectedDrive.

BMW ConnectedDrive is the epitome of intelligent networking of
driver, vehicle and the environment that raises the level of
convenience and infotainment for the driver and passengers. It also
enhances the safety level for both people inside a BMW vehicle and for
those in the vicinity. Thanks to a built-in SIM card, the all-new BMW
X1 comes fully-equipped with the full suite of BMW ConnectedDrive
Services & Apps including BMW Online, BMW Apps as well as
ConnectedDrive Options such as Intelligent Emergency Call, Real Time
Traffic Information, Concierge Services, Remote Services and Teleservices.

The all-new BMW X1 sDrive20i currently retails at Performance Motors
at S$191,800 (inclusive of COE).

Urban all-rounder delivers boundless driving pleasure.

The new BMW X1.

The new BMW X1 – the successor to the model that blazed the trail for
this class of car – treats the premium compact segment to an even more
potent shot of Sports Activity Vehicle DNA. The second generation of
this successful model, more than 730,000 units of which have now been
sold, takes to the stage with a body design straight out of the BMW X
model mould. The interior of the new BMW X1, meanwhile, offers
significantly more space for passengers and luggage, a cutting-edge
premium ambience and functionality grounded in solid engineering.
Four-cylinder engines from the BMW Group’s latest generation of power
units, an efficiency-optimised version of the BMW xDrive intelligent
all wheel-drive system and newly developed chassis technology all help
to palpably enhance sporting ability and ride comfort compared to the
outgoing model – with fuel consumption and emissions reduced by up to
17 per cent, model-on-model.

Alongside its market-leading dynamics and efficiency, a host of
innovative equipment features also help to secure the new BMW X1 its
stand-out position in the segment. Among the items on the options list
are full-LED headlights, Dynamic Damper Control, the BMW Head-Up
Display and the Driving Assistant Plus system.

A typical BMW X model: sturdy proportions, impressive
variability and established premium characteristics.

Rugged proportions, a powerful presence and dynamic lines lend the
new BMW X1 a commanding appearance and highlight its status as the
youngest member of the BMW X model family. The new model has grown in
height compared to its predecessor (+53 millimetres), which has helped
increase the spaciousness of the interior. And its significantly
raised seating position (+36 millimetres at the front, +64 millimetres
at the rear) optimises the driver’s view out over the road.

Knee room in the rear has increased by 37 millimetres in standard
specification and by up to 66 millimetres with the optionally
adjustable rear seat, while the 505-litre boot capacity is 85 litres
larger than that of its predecessor. Folding down the standard-fitted
40:20:40 rear seat backrest, which can also be specified in
angle-adjustable form as an option, allows load capacity to be
expanded to as much as 1,550 litres. The optional folding front
passenger seat backrest and a rear seat bench which can slide 13
centimetres fore and aft offer additional variability.

The interior design of the new BMW X1 combines the driver-focused
cockpit design that has become a hallmark of the brand’s models with
touches promoting authoritative, SAV-style driving pleasure and a
contemporary premium ambience. Standard equipment includes air
conditioning, an audio system with USB and AUX-in sockets, and the
iDrive operating system, whose 6.5-inch display is integrated into the
instrument panel in freestanding monitor form. Meanwhile, the
Advantage, Sport Line, xLine and M Sport packages available as an
alternative to standard specification open the door for targeted individualisation.

New generation of engines, efficiency-optimised xDrive
all-wheeldrive system.

The second-generation BMW X1 (fuel consumption combined: 6.4–4.1
litres/100 km [44.1–68.9 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 149–109
g/km) lines up with an all-new selection of engines. Two petrol and
three diesel units will be available from launch in October 2015, all
of which have four cylinders and are members of the BMW Group’s new
engine family.

Outputs range from 110 kW/150 hp to 170 kW/231 hp. The engines link
up with either a six-speed manual gearbox or an eight-speed Steptronic
unit, both of which are new developments.

The xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system also takes its place in
the new BMW X1 in a further developed form. The weight-saving, compact
and efficient system uses an electro-hydraulically controlled
multi-plate clutch to distribute drive between the front and rear axle
just as required for the situation at hand.

Joining the fray in the BMW X1 sDrive20i and BMW X1 sDrive18d,
meanwhile, is a front-wheel-drive construction which has been
developed to deliver the driving dynamics typical of the brand and has
already proved its mettle in the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer and BMW 2
Series Gran Tourer.

Premiere in the BMW X1: Head-Up Display and Driving Assistant Plus.

The change of BMW X1 generations also brings significant advances in
the field of intelligent connectivity. A new addition to the range of
BMW ConnectedDrive features is a BMW Head-Up Display which, as in the
larger BMW X models, projects driving-related information directly
onto the

windscreen. The BMW X1 can now also be specified with the Driving
Assistant Plus line-up of the Active Cruise Control system with Stop
& Go function, Lane Departure Warning, Traffic Jam Assistant,
Collision Warning and Pedestrian Warning with City Braking function.
These systems are complemented by an up-to-the-minute selection of
apps allowing customers to add to the car’s comfort, navigation and
infotainment functionality, as desired.

Further information on official fuel consumption figures, specific
CO2 emission values and the electric power consumption of new
passenger cars is included in the following guideline: “Leitfaden über
Kraftstoffverbrauch, die CO2-Emissionen und den Stromverbrauch neuer
Personenkraftwagen”(Guideline for fuel consumption, CO2 emissions and
electric power consumption of new passenger cars), which can be
obtained from all dealerships, from the Deutsche Automobil Treuhand
GmbH (DAT), Hellmuth-Hirth-Str. 1, 73760 Ostfildern-Scharnhausen and

Arrival of the latest-generation petrol engine powered by BMW
TwinPower Turbo technology.

Debut of the BMW xLine and BMW Sport Line.

Singapore. BMW Asia today announced the launch of the new BMW X1
sDrive20i. Driven by BMW TwinPower Turbo technology, this multi-award
winning trailblazing crossover in the premium compact segment now
comes with increased performance, greater fuel efficiency and lesser
CO2 emissions.

“Since its introduction, the BMW X1 has enjoyed tremendous popularity
with worldwide sales amounting to more than 300,000 units. It has
further won numerous awards including ‘Off-Roader of the year’, ‘Red
Dot award for outstanding product design’, ‘Auto Bild Design Award’,
as well as a ‘five-star Euro NCAP rating’,” said Mr Neil Fiorentinos,
Managing Director of BMW Group Asia.

“The latest BMW X1 sDrive20i comes fully-equipped with the latest
Efficient Dynamics features promising better fuel efficiency and lower
CO2 emissions. The new BMW X1 will also be available in either the BMW
xLine or Sport Line, with the former offering a robust yet elegant
look, while the latter presents an athletic and sporty appeal that
cleverly reflects the drivers’ varying tastes.”

New four-cylinder petrol engine with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology.
The BMW TwinPower Turbo technology has equipped the 2.0-litre
engine with twin-scroll turbocharging, High Precision Injection direct
injection, VALVETRONIC variable valve timing and Double-Vanos variable
camshaft timing.

As fitted on the BMW X1 sDrive20i, the four-cylinder engine develops
maximum power of 184hp and peak torque of 270Nm, which is available
between 1,250 and 4,500 rpm. Instantaneous power response helps the
BMW X1 sDrive20i to complete the century sprint in 7.7 seconds with a
top speed of 215 km/h. Simultaneous efficiency improvements against
its predecessor are reflected in average fuel consumption (as per EU
test cycle, depending on tyre format) of 6.7 litres per 100km (reduced
by 6%) and CO2 emissions of 157 grams per kilometer (reduced by 5%).

Driving Experience Control including ECO PRO mode set new
standards of efficiency.
A Driving Experience Control switch is now fitted as standard on
the BMW X1 sDrive20i. This features an ECO PRO mode, which supports a
relaxed, extra-fuel-efficient, low-rpm driving style. At the same
time, ECO PRO mode also programs electrically powered convenience
functions the air conditioning to operate at optimum efficiency. A
special display in the instrument cluster lets
the driver know by
how much the driving range is being extended when using ECO PRO mode.

Auto Start-Stop, which comes standard, makes another big
contribution to efficiency. This system automatically shuts the engine
off when the vehicle is stopped in a traffic queue or at intersections.

State-of-the-art suspension technology for agile and safe handling.
The compelling agility of the new BMW X1 is complemented by
superior and precisely controllable driving characteristics. Its
high-end suspension technology and advanced stability systems strike
an ideal balance between driving dynamics and ride comfort coupled
with a high degree of active safety. The double-joint tie bar axle and
electrical power assistance steering system of the new BMW X1 further
contribute to safer and more precise handling.

Premiere of the BMW xLine and BMW Sport Line.
BMW Lines are now available on the BMW X1 for the first time,
targeted at individualisation through exclusive, harmoniously matched
design and equipment features.

The BMW xLine accentuates the robust diversity of the new BMW
X1. It allows the sturdy versatility of the compact BMW X model to be
overtly emphasised, comprising as it does underguard elements for the
front and rear aprons, side skirt covers, air intake and kidney grille
slats in Titanium Silver matt finish, as well as exclusive 18-inch
alloys in Y-spoke design. The distinctive charisma of the new BMW X1
is also brought to bear in the interior, starting with entry strips
bearing the lettering “BMW xLine”, a sport leather steering wheel with
multifunction buttons, Ambient Lighting with colours that vary from
white through to orange, as well as exclusive interior trim strips in
Dark Copper high-gloss and floor mats with colour-matched piping.
Another exclusive feature of the BMW xLine are leather Nevada seats.
In conjunction with the BMW xLine, leather Nevada upholstery is
standard, with the exclusive colour shades Terra and Oyster also used
on the door trim panels and the lower section of the dashboard, while
the head restraints feature a distinctive embossed “X”. As a further
option, interior trim in Fineline Bay matt fine wood finish is
available exclusively in combination with the BMW xLine.

The stand-out agility and dynamics of the new BMW X1 within the
competitive environment can also be highlighted through exclusive and
meticulously matched design and equipment features. Cue for the BMW
Sport Line, which features a front and rear underguard, side skirt
covers, air intakes and kidney grille slats in Black high-gloss,
tailpipe finishers in Black Chrome, exclusive 18 inch light alloys in
double-spoke style with bi-colour surfaces, and entry strips with “BMW
Sport”
lettering. In the interior, sport seats upholstered in
leather Nevada, a sport leather steering wheel and gear selector lever
with red stitching, interior trim in Black high-gloss finish, floor
mats with red piping and Ambient Lighting that can shift in colour
from white to orange all contribute to an ambience that is explicitly
geared to intensive driving pleasure. Also optionally available are
leather sport seats in a choice of two colours (Black with Grey-Red
piping or Coral Red with Grey-Black
piping), while interior trim
strips in Alumimium with accent line are an optional extra exclusive
to the BMW Sport Line.

The BMW X1 will be available at Performance Motors from 30 September.

Munich. A further chapter has been added to the
success story of the BMW X models. In a matter of two-and-a-half
years, the BMW X1 has notched up worldwide sales of more than 300,000
units. Since its market launch in autumn 2009, the first – and for a
long time only – vehicle of its kind in the premium compact segment
has conquered a steadily expanding fan base and scooped up a host of
awards. The tremendous popularity enjoyed by the BMW X1 both in its
home country and in numerous car markets around the world is fresh
proof of the sheer appeal of the vehicle concept embodied by the BMW X
models. This compact all-rounder entered the market as the fourth
member of the BMW X family and rapidly advanced from a trailblazer to
a bestseller.

The stand-out position of the BMW X1 is also reflected in the many
national and international prizes bestowed on the compact BMW X model
in recognition of its design, driving characteristics and high safety
levels. Immediately after its market launch, the BMW X1 was voted
off-roader of the year in the “Crossover” category by readers of “OFF
ROAD” magazine. Almost simultaneously, Italian magazine “Quattroruote”
proclaimed it “New car of the year 2010”. The BMW X1 was also
instantly awarded the “Auto Trophy” by the German publication “Auto
Zeitung”, and in the following year picked up the “Design Trophy” from
the same magazine, the “red dot award” for outstanding product design,
and the “Auto Bild Design Award” in the “SUV, Van and All-Wheel-Drive”
category. In the “Wertmeister 2010” (Value Champions) rankings, also
published by “Auto Bild”, the BMW X1 came top of its class by virtue
of its high product quality and popularity. The highest possible score
of five stars in the Euro NCAP crash test, moreover, confirmed the
outstanding occupant protection and comprehensive safety features
provided by the BMW X1.

In a competitive environment now also inhabited by other premium
carmakers, the BMW X1 remains compelling for its agile handling,
exemplary efficiency and extraordinary versatility. With a choice of
five diesel and three petrol engines and an output ranging from 116 hp
to 245 hp, it offers the most wide-ranging engine portfolio in its
segment. Boasting the most favourable ratio of driving enjoyment to
fuel efficiency is the BMW X1 sDrive20d EfficientDynamics Edition with
output of 163 hp and average fuel consumption in the EU test cycle of
4.5 litres per 100 kilometres combined with CO2 emissions of 119 grams
per kilometre.

As well as engines featuring BMW TwinPower Turbo technology and the
optional eight-speed automatic transmission, the highlights of the BMW
X1 also include BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive. The most
powerful petrol and diesel engines each come as standard with this
electronically controlled, variable power distribution system. xDrive
is available for a further three models as an alternative to the
typical BMW rear-wheel drive that is likewise unique in this vehicle class.

Various premium equipment features and innovative functions from BMW
ConnectedDrive underline the progressive character of the BMW X1. The
range of functions which – thanks to intelligent integration – provide
optimum convenience, safety and in-car infotainment possibilities
include services that are unrivalled by the competition, such as the
BMW Assist telephone information service and Real Time Traffic
Information. Beyond this, the integration of the Apple iPhone in
conjunction with the BMW Apps option allows the reception of internet
radio stations and the use of Facebook and Twitter in the car.

The interior of the BMW X1 provides five full-size seats and carrying
capacity offering a wide range of different uses. By folding down the
standard 40:20:40 split-folding rear seat bench, luggage space can be
extended from 420 to 1,350 litres.

Jakarta. Amid surging customer interest in BMW
Clean Diesel technology, BMW Indonesia is officially introducing
diesel models in Indonesia. The new BMW X1, the much-anticipated
first compact Sport Activity Vehicle in the world, will be launched in
the market in July 2010 with both gas and diesel engines.

“This is another milestone for BMW in Indonesia,” said
Ramesh Divyanathan, President Director of BMW Indonesia.
“In continuing its commitment to bringing world firsts to
customers, BMW Indonesia is leading the way by introducing the most
efficient and environmentally friendly engine among its peers.”

The supremacy of BMW Clean Diesel technology is acknowledged
worldwide, and the majority of BMW cars sold in Europe today use
diesel engines. This trend has been picked up locally in recent times,
thus accounting for the new BMW X1’s strong demand.

“Without any official communication to the public about the
introduction of the model, we have already received orders for more
than 150 units for the new BMW X1, about half of which are for the
diesel model,” Mr. Divyanathan said.

Every BMW diesel engine delivers superb fuel efficiency, low CO2
emissions, generous torque at low engine speeds and the typical BMW
characteristics of superior smoothness and refined engine acoustics.

Through BMW EfficientDynamics, the company’s umbrella term for
all environmentally-friendly technologies in its cars and its superior
range of diesel engines, the BMW Group has been able to cut its
European fleet emissions by 25% in 2008 compared to 1995 levels. In
acknowledgement of its commitment to a sustainable environment, for
the fifth consecutive year BMW has been rated the world’s most
sustainable automobile manufacturer in Dow Jones Sustainability
Index.

The new BMW X1 has been awarded the 2010 red dot award for
outstanding design and achieved the highest score of 5 stars at the
stringent Euro NCAP crash test. This premium compact SAV is much
anticipated by young urban Indonesians, as the car is in keeping
with their character as well as road conditions in the market.

The new BMW X1 comes with all the features typical of a BMW X model,
and at the same time offers a new interpretation of BMW Sheer Driving
Pleasure. The youngest member in the wider range of BMW X models
stands for versatile sportiness and supreme agility in a confident,
elegant and modern style. Young and sporty in design, the
interior combines superior variability with equally superior
flexibility. The higher seating-position and driver-oriented design of
the cockpit enhance the emotional driving experience to an even higher standard.

The new BMW X1 sets new standards for driving pleasure in the premium
compact segment. BMW was the pioneer in introducing the
premium Sport Activity Vehicle X5 in 2001, and now the family extends
to the compact segment where there remains no competitor as
yet. BMW EfficientDynamics technology in the X1 offers the best
balance of performance and fuel economy throughout its entire segment.

The smooth-running 2.0 liter four-cylinder diesel that uses
the latest-generation Common Rail injection system and a
turbocharger will be introduced for the new BMW X1 sDrive20d.
The engine delivers a perfect combination of dynamic
performance and exceptional efficiency. BMW diesel technology has
gained its reputation as having best performance and most efficient
fuel consumption and lower emissions. Capable of producing
177 hp at 4,000 rpm, the engine offers maximum
torque of 350 Nm from 1,750 to 3,000 rpm. The
extraordinary drive system accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in
8.3 seconds, top speed stands at 205
km/hour and average fuel consumption is an efficient
6.1 l/100 km and CO
2
level at 160 g/km. The engine meets EU3 standards,
therefore Pertadex, Shell Diesel, Performance from Total and Dynamic
Diesel from Petronas fulfills the fuel quality requirement. This
ensures that customers have full mobility throughout Indonesia.

In addition, BMW Indonesia will introduce the new BMW X1
sDrive18i to the market. The model is powered by
a 150 hp four-cylinder gasoline engine featuring
Valvetronic. Producing maximum torque of
200 Nm at 3,600 rpm, it accelerates from 0 to
100 km/h in 10.4 seconds. Its top speed reaches
200 km/hour with an average fuel consumption of
8.4 l/100 km and CO
2
level at 195 g/km.

Munich
. As the first premium vehicle in its segment, the
BMW X1 makes a striking impression with its unique driving pleasure,
versatility and efficiency. Now the compact BMW X model moves into the
lead in the area of safety, too. On the current Euro NCAP crash test
the BMW X1achieved the highest score of 5 stars. Subjected to a
testing procedure which was supplemented with additional criteria at
the beginning of this year, the new model put on an impressive showing
with its comprehensive standard safety features and an effective
system of vehicle occupant protection which covers different types of
collision. Of the 12 vehicles which have just gone through the NCAP
test, the BMW X1 also has by far the highest level of pedestrian protection.

With the maximum score on the most important crash test procedure in
Europe, the BMW X1 confirms the high standard of the safety concept
developed for the BMW X models. Its extremely stable body structure
provides an ideal basis for ensuring that the passenger cell is
subject to maximum protection even in the event of a forceful impact.
The forces acting on the vehicle are diverted along the clearly
defined load paths of the support structures and absorbed by means of
amply sized deformation zones.

In the interior of the BMW X1, front, side and curtain head airbags
protect both the driver and other travellers from injury. Likewise
part of the range of standard equipment are the belt tensioners and
belt force limiters for the front seats as well as the ISOFIX systems
for attaching children's seats at the rear. The restraint systems are
controlled by a central electronic safety system which triggers the
most effective protection elements taking into account the type and
intensity of the accident.

In order to optimise active safety, the BMW X1 is fitted with the
driving stability system DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) which is
networked with the intelligent all-wheel drive system BMW xDrive. The
precise regulation and extremely wide range of functions offered by
the system, including brake assistant, cornering brake assistant and
traction mode DTC (Dynamic Traction Control), ensure easily
controllable and safe handling even in demanding situations on the
road. This makes a significant contribution towards reducing accident
risk. The standard equipment of the BMW X1 also includes a tyre damage
display function which warns the driver early on when there is
pressure loss in an individual tyre.

The test procedure of the NCAP (New Car Assessment Programme) is
regarded as one of the most demanding tests required for new vehicles
worldwide. The Euro NCAP test is a recognised benchmark of crash
safety by governments, automobile clubs and consumer protection
organisations throughout Europe. The test scenario covers such
accident types as the head-on collision, the side crash and the side
impact against a steel post. At the beginning of this year more
stringent testing conditions were introduced which also address a
vehicle’s electronic safety features as well as looking at
additional injury risks in a wide range of different collision types.

After analysing the test results, the Euro NCAP testers confirmed
that the BMW X1 has an extremely stable passenger cell which provides
extensive protection from injury for both the driver and fellow
travellers, regardless of their height and seating position. The BMW
X1 received a particularly high score in relation to occupant
protection for children. The vehicle was confirmed as offering an
excellent standard of safety in the use of seating systems for
children aged one and a half and three. The vehicle achieved the
highest possible score for the protection provided by a seat facing
opposite the direction of travel in both a head-on and a side collision.

The NCAP crash test now also attaches high importance to pedestrian
protection. The BMW X1 impressed the inspectors in this discipline
with by far the most effective precautions of all the vehicles being
tested in the current cycle. Here again, the BMW X1 achieved its lead
by means of a consistently applied safety concept. In the design of
the bumpers and engine compartment lid, yielding structures ensure
that the risk of injury to pedestrians and cyclists is minimised in
the event of a collision. The test report makes particular mention of
the material quality of the engine compartment lid which significantly
reduces the risk of head injury, especially to children.

Munich. Sheer driving pleasure generates enthusiasm
again and again. Two current models were able to win their respective
vehicle categories in this year’s readers’ vote by the
magazine “AutoZeitung”: the BMW X1 and the BMW 1 Series
Convertible. What is more, the new brand campaign focusing on the
characteristic feeling of joy conveyed by BMW was also awarded the
“Auto Trophy 2009”. The award ceremony, held yesterday at
the “Meilenwerk” in Berlin, was attended by Dr. Norbert
Reithofer, Chairman of the Board of Management BMW AG, Dr. Klaus
Draeger, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG, Development and
Ian Robertson, Member of the Board of Management, Sales and Marketing.

The “Auto Trophy” is one of the most important automobile
awards in Germany and was awarded for the 22nd time this year. Over
104,000 readers of “AutoZeitung” participated in the vote.
They chose their favourites out of 370 current models in 27
categories. The BMW X1 won the category “Off-road vehicles up to
30,000 Euros” only a few weeks after its world premiere at the
International Automobile Show in Frankfurt (IAA). The BMW X1, produced
at the BMW plant in Leipzig since September, brings the particular
style of sheer driving pleasure peculiar to BMW X vehicles to a model
in the compact segment for the first time. After a successful market
launch, the vehicle’s achievement in the “Auto
Trophy” 2009 comes as no surprise. “With the BMW X1 we
have captured the essence of the times. Customer response to date has
been outstanding,” confirmed Board Chairman Dr. Norbert
Reithofer at the award ceremony.

The open-top BMW 1 Series was able to repeat its success from last
year in the vehicle category “Convertibles up to 30,000
Euros”. The elegant, sporty four-seater once again impressed the
public with its aesthetic appeal characteristic of BMW convertible
models coupled with the agility typical of the BMW 1 Series. Not only
is the engine range unique, with four petrol and three diesel power
units covering an output range of 105 kW/143 bhp to 225 kW/306 bhp,
the efficiency of the BMW 1 Series Convertible is also remarkable. The
benchmark is primarily set in this area by the BMW 118d Convertible,

The “Auto Trophy” for the BMW 1 Series Convertible was
received by Head of Development Dr. Klaus Draeger from the hands of TV
presenter Barbara Schöneberger and Editor-in-Chief of
"AutoZeitung” Volker Koerdt. Ian Robertson, Head of Sales
and Marketing, was pleased to receive the award for the “best
advertising of the year”. This prize also went to BMW for the
second time in succession. After the launch campaign for the BMW 1
Series Coupé in 2008, this year it was the new brand campaign
which met with an especially positive response. It makes
“joy” - the core value of the brand BMW - the central
theme of communication. Joy is conveyed in emotional style in TV
commercials, on the internet, on posters and in print advertisements.
The new brand campaign is designed for consistent use worldwide:
through the theme of “joy” it focuses on two main points
- the efficient dynamics and the aesthetic design of BMW brand vehicles.

Press Contact: Manfred Poschenrieder
Tel: +49-89-382-28720
E-mail: manfred.poschenrieder@bmwna.com

Press Release,Concept Vehicles & Design,X1,Convertible,Product,BMW
