Singapore. BMW World of Golf, the largest BMW Golf
Series in Singapore, kicks off the 2025 season with a wide range of
events on the course, and off, for golfers of all skill levels.

“BMW has been closely linked to golf since as far back as 1982,” said
Lars Nielsen, Managing Director, BMW Group Asia. “And it’s not just a
sponsorship opportunity for us, it’s a core part of our business. It
is a lifestyle experience that resonates with many of our customers in
Singapore, and throughout the region, and opens the door for us to
engage with our customers beyond the purchase of their car.

“Golf has taken on a life of its own in the world of BMW, and
continues to grow, year on year. BMW Asia took the lead for the BWM
World of Golf back in 2023 and expanded the series of events beyond
customers, to brand enthusiasts, who enjoy the sport. We welcomed more
than 1000 players that year and have grown year-on-year. 2024
witnessed more than 1500 players and we expect to host more than 2000
players in 2025. It’s remarkable to see the sport grow in Singapore
and to be a part of that growth story.”

BMW World of Golf includes golfing experiences for all skill levels.
The more competitive BMW golfers are invited to participate in the BMW
Golf Cup National Final that will be held from 12-15 August 2025. The
top three winners in the Men’s Category l, Men’s Category II and
Ladies Category will have the honor of representing Singapore at the
BMW Golf Cup World Final at Fancourt Golf Resort in South Africa.

Customers and brand enthusiasts who simply enjoy the sport, are also
welcome to join a variety of events held by BMW Asia, along with
Performance Motors Limited and Eurokars Auto. These events include
“Drive & Golf” experiences to various golf courses in Malaysia,
and international golf experiences in Korea, Vietnam and other parts
of Asia.

“According to a recent report by Global Web Index, golf was
identified as the top sport played by HNWI and luxury car owners, and
driving was highlighted as one of the Top 2 personal interests for
these audience segments,” continued Nielsen. “By combining golf
adventures with driving experiences, we’re able to fuel the passions
we know our customers want.”

The BMW World of Golf also includes more than 20 Hole-in-One prizes
throughout the year and key partnerships with brands such as Titleist
and Footjoy, with more to come, so our players have the best there is
in golf.

Bangkok. At the end of an unforgettable week at the
BMW Golf Cup World Final in Bangkok (Thailand), there were only
beaming faces to be seen at the concluding gala dinner. Among the
winners of the largest international tournament series for amateur
golfers were special guests Colin Montgomerie (SCO) and Fanny Sunesson
(SWE), and all finalists from 38 countries and regions who had the
privilege to enjoy this ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ experience – and
contributed to a record result. The representatives of UNICEF Thailand
also had every reason to smile. A remarkable number of 116 net eagles
were recorded during the tournament. This means that the BMW Group,
just during the World Final, supports the UN agency for children,
UNICEF*, with 116,000 euros, helping to provide education to young
people and thus enabling them to lead self-determined lives.

“It was our great pleasure to welcome golf enthusiasts from all over
the world to Thailand and the beautiful capital of Bangkok. At the end
of an unforgettable week, it is time to acknowledge the performance of
Team Vietnam and the individual winners. Congratulations on the BMW
Golf Cup World Final titles,” said Rene Gerhard, President and CEO,
BMW Group Thailand. “Competitions need winners, but there is so much
more to the World Final. A palpable sense of community that has
developed across all the cultures and nationalities, the shared joy of
golf and the delight generated by such a fantastic event will be
remembered forever. Last but not least, the 116,000 euro to UNICEF and
our joint initiative ‘BRIDGE’ will help to growth educational equality
and therefore prosperity and social stability here in Thailand.”

The sporting part of the World Final, held for the first time in
Thailand's capital, Bangkok, took place at the spectacular Alpine Golf
Club and consisted of three rounds in three individual categories: Men
1 (up to HCP 12), Men 2 (HCP 13-28), and Ladies (HCP up to 28).
Additionally, a National Team Category was compiled from the
individual results. Team Vietnam emerged victorious with 302 net
points, ahead of teams from China (297) and Japan (291). In the Ladies
category, the title also went to Vietnam which Thi Quynh Nhu Nguyen
(100) won ahead of Daniela Antillon Goñi (MEX, 97) and Akiko Wakamatsu
(JPN, 96). The Chinese players Yong Zhang (104) and Lei Shi (101)
celebrated a 1-2 result in the Men 1 category, followed by Quang Duong
Ta (101) from Vietnam. In the Men 2 category, Suet Lung Leung (HKG,
105) triumphed ahead of Hamza Chraibi (MAR, 104) and Kyle Justin Tan
(PHI, 104).

The trophies were presented to the winners at the concluding gala
dinner by Scottish golf and Ryder Cup legend Colin Montgomerie. “I am
very grateful to having been part of the BMW Golf Cup World Final. BMW
golf events are second to none and I always enjoy them a lot,” said
Montgomerie. “The World Final is like no other and gives the
participants the very same treatment of a professional top event, a
truly unique experience. Most of all, I wholeheartedly love to see
that this event celebrates the best in our beautiful game:
competitiveness and ambition, but also respect for one another, and
sharing of joyful moments across cultural and national boundaries.”

In addition to experiencing the many attractions of Bangkok and the
rich Thai culture, these moments included exclusive evening events and
another special guest as Sweden’s Fanny Sunesson accompanied the World
Final from the first to the last day. She not only charmed the players
and guests with her warm personality but also shared her extensive
experience as a former caddie for some of the world's best golfers,
such as Sir Nick Faldo (ENG) and Adam Scott (AUS).

“Eagles for Education” is the slogan of the BMW Group’s educational
initiative in golf. The company makes use of numerous BMW title
tournaments around the world to fulfil its responsibility as a
corporate citizen and to participate in solutions to social
challenges. For the second time since 2024, this happened at the World
Final through the support of the cooperation between the BMW Group and
UNICEF, which is named “BRIDGE. Educating young people for tomorrow,
today." The focus of the partnership is to bridge learning gaps
within society and create learning and education opportunities in
science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) – because STEM
professions are particularly important given that they are the engine
of global economic growth.

The list of countries where the BMW Group and UNICEF are working
together includes South Africa (venue for the BMW Golf Cup World Final
last year), Brazil, India, Mexico and Thailand, the host country for
this year’s BMW Golf Cup World Final – all countries which have BMW
Group presence.

Bangkok. The history of the BMW Golf Cup stretches
back over three decades. During this time, Thailand has hosted the
World Final on multiple occasions. Despite this, all of this year’s
participants can look forward to something new. For the first time,
the highlight of the world’s largest tournament series for amateur
golfers will take place in Thailand’s inspiring capital city, Bangkok.
However, one thing remains the same at the new venue; World Final will
be an unforgettable week of golf, full of joy, intercultural
encounters and unique experiences that will be remembered forever.

The World Final opened with the traditional parading of the flags of
the 38 countries and regions represented. The amateur golfers
qualified for the World Final through roughly 1,000 tournaments around
the world. Over the coming days, they will discover a spectacular
setup for the sporting element of this prestigious event: Alpine Golf
Club. The 18 lovingly maintained holes feature lightning quick greens,
undulating fairways, and a design by Ron Garl that is as demanding as
it is spectacular. It is no coincidence that this golf course is
regarded as the best that Bangkok has to offer. The World Final is
held in three categories, each played over three rounds: Men’s A (up
to HCP 12), Men’s B (HCP 13-28) and Ladies (HCP up to 28). As well as
the titles being up for grabs in these individual categories, there is
also a Nations competition (36 teams).

Through their sporting efforts, the participants can also do their
bit for charity over the course of the three rounds. As it did last
year, the BMW Group’s “Eagles for Education” initiative is again
helping the UN agency for children, UNICEF*, to give young people the
skills and knowledge needed to be successful in the working world of
tomorrow, and to lead a self-determined life. For each net eagle,
€1,000 will be donated to the collaboration between the BMW Group and
UNICEF, named “BRIDGE. Educating young people for tomorrow, today”.
The focus of the partnership is to bridge learning gaps within society
and create learning and education opportunities in science,
technology, engineering and maths (STEM) – because STEM professions

finale +++ One-stroke lead over Celine Boutier (FRA) +++ 50,671
spectators attend the tournament hosted by BMW Korea +++

Seoul. The title at the BMW Ladies Championship stays
in Australia. After Minjee Lee's victory last year, her compatriot
Hannah Green won the only Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA)
Tour tournament in South Korea on Sunday. Green needed 269 strokes
(64, 64, 70, 71, 19 under par) at the Seowon Valley Country Club,
finishing with a one-shot lead over Celine Boutier from France. The
27-year-old clinched her third LPGA win this season and the sixth of
her career. Despite strong competition – eight of the top ten players
in the world rankings and 17 of this year's 18 tournament winners were
in the field – Green led from the first day. On Sunday, the Australian
faced a brilliant closing round of 66 from Celine Boutier, but she
narrowly held on to secure the victory.

“On behalf of BMW I would like to congratulate Hannah Green on a
marvellous display of golf, overcoming a world-class field to win the
2024 BMW Ladies Championship,” said Sangyun Han, Director and
President of BMW Group Korea. “It has been a thrilling week, and I
would like to thank everyone at Seowon Valley Country Club. They have
been wonderful hosts for the last two editions. Thank you also to all
the tournament partners, supporters, volunteers, fans and everyone
involved for contributing to this prestigious golf event.”

Green laid the foundation for her victory, which earned her $330,000,
during the first two days, where she carded rounds of 64 strokes each.
On Sunday, however, Green struggled for much of the day and was even
par by the 17th hole, with two birdies and two bogeys. By that time,
Boutier, who had started her round ahead of Green and recorded six
birdies, had already caught up, but a birdie on the 17th hole (Par 4)
ultimately sealed the win for Green. Third place went to Chanettee
Wannasaen from Thailand (-17).

“Yeah, it was a crazy finish,” Green said. “My caddie said to me at
the start of the day, ‘Let’s try and get a lead and have a bit of a
cushion coming in.’ I did not do that and made it very interesting.
Putting on the 17th, I was very nervous. I was hoping I would have
more of a tap-in on the final green, but I like to make things
interesting. Nevertheles I am super proud of myself for hanging in
there because today conditions were very tough. The wind was very
swirly, and I think everyone was trying to battle the wind.”

The BMW Ladies Championship, hosted by BMW Korea, was the last major
BMW professional tournament of the season – but not of the year. The
season opener for the 2024/25 DP World Tour for men will take place
from November 21 to 25 with the inaugural BMW PGA Australian
Championship at the Royal Queensland Golf Club (Brisbane, AUS).

Press Contact: Kimberley Ng
Tel: +6568389532
E-mail: kimberley.ng@ctt.yespaygroup.com

Press Release,Sports

tournament's history +++

Seoul. The BMW Ladies Championship at Seowon Valley
Country Club is approaching its halfway point. The second round had to
be suspended on Friday due to heavy rain and will resume on Saturday.
Since there is no cut in the only tournament of the Ladies
Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Tour in South Korea, all 78
players will tee off in the final two rounds. For the field, packed
with world-class golfers, the goal is to earn valuable points for the
season rankings and world rankings, as well as to claim a significant
share of the $2.2 million prize fund. In addition, all 78 golfers
still have the chance to win an all-electric premium vehicle. Each
round offers two opportunities to win the BMW Hole-in-One Awards; the
first ace on the 14th hole will be rewarded with a BMW i5, while a BMW
i7 awaits for the perfect shot on the 16th hole.

Both the BMW i7 and BMW i5 are the first all-electric models in their
respective series, featuring cutting-edge technology and digital
experiences, and take a leading role in the path toward premium
electric mobility. Both models are produced at the BMW Group Plant in
Dingolfing, Germany, where their electric motors and high-voltage
batteries are also manufactured.

In the history of the BMW Ladies Championship, three players have
earned a Hole-in-One Award. The first to do so was Kristen Gillman
during the inaugural event in 2019. At LPGA International Busan, the
13th hole (Par 3) proved to be her lucky number. From a distance of
164 metres, Gillman holed out with a 4-hybrid, marking the first ace
of her professional career and winning a BMW 740Li XDrive.

Three years later, something unparalleled happened at the Oak Valley
Country Club. The BMW Group has been involved in international
professional golf since 1989, but what occurred at the 2022 BMW Ladies
Championship had never been seen before when two Hole-in-One Awards
were won on the same day. During round three of the BMW Ladies
Championship, South Korean Na Yeon Choi was rewarded for her dream
shot on the 12th hole with a BMW X7 xDrive40i. A short while later,
cheers rang round the course again, as Thailand’s Ariya Jutanugarn
aced the 17th to win a BMW 740i.

Since that ‘Super-Saturday’ in October 2022, no other BMW
professional tournament around the world has seen such a spectacular
double. The BMW Ladies Championship this weekend continues to hold the
possibility of making golf history once again.

Press Contact: Kimberley Ng
Tel: +6568389532
E-mail: kimberley.ng@ctt.yespaygroup.com

Press Release,Sports

Seoul. This week marks the fifth edition of the BMW
Ladies Championship. The only tournament on the Ladies Professional
Golf Association (LPGA) Tour held in South Korea has become a fixed
highlight in the season calendar and offers a prize fund of 2.2
million US dollars. The event features a compact field of 78 players,
all of whom will compete across all four days, as there is no cut in
this tournament making the quality of the field even higher. 68
world-class golfers will tee off, along with eight high-profile
tournament invites and two Korean amateurs.

The defending champion is Minjee Lee from Australia, who claimed the
title last year in a playoff against Alison Lee (USA) at the Seowon
Valley Country Club. This year’s BMW Ladies Championship will again be
held at the same venue, one of the most spectacular golf courses in
the country, located about an hour's drive from the capital, Seoul.
South Korean golf fans can look forward to not only the unique BMW
tournament experience, for which the premium car manufacturer is known
at its golf events worldwide, but also an impressive line-up of stars.

Amongst them are the two athletes who made a major impact at the
Olympic golf competition in August: New Zealander Lydia Ko, winner of
the 2022 BMW Ladies Championship, who completed her Olympic medal
collection in Paris, and Esther Henseleit, who secured silver with a
brilliant final round and became the first-ever golf medalist for
Germany. Additionally, almost the entire top ten of the women's world
golf rankings will be present, with the only absentees being Nelly
Korda (USA), who had to withdraw due to injury, and 2021 BMW Ladies
Champion, Jin Young Ko (KOR). Aside from Korda, all major champions of
the year will be competing: Ko (The Women’s Open), Yuka Saso (JPN,
U.S. Women’s Open), Amy Yang (KOR, Women’s PGA Championship), and
Ayaka Furue (JPN, The Evian Championship).

Among the eight tournament invites are four additional major
champions: Danielle Kang (USA) and Korean players Jeongeun Lee,
Eun-Hee Ji, and Jiyai Shin, the most successful golfer from Korea. The
36-year-old has won a total of 64 professional tournaments across six
different tours, including the Women’s Open twice (2008, 2012), and
will surely be celebrated by fans at her home tournament.

The BMW Ladies Championship made its debut in 2019 at the LPGA
International Busan, where the second edition was also held two years
later, before moving to the Oak Valley Country Club in 2022. The
Seowon Valley Country Club was, and remains, the venue for the 2023
and 2024 tournaments. The competition will be played on the Seowon
Hills Course, a par-72 course, playing 6,666 yards (6,095 metres) this week.

Press Contact: Kimberley Ng
Tel: +6568389532
E-mail: kimberley.ng@ctt.yespaygroup.com

Press Release,Sports

Munich. The BMW Group is expanding its revolutionary
driving experience with BMW M Mixed Reality, which breaks down the
boundaries between the physical and virtual worlds through
state-of-the-art VR/MR technologies. The vehicle itself becomes the
controller - a unique 3D interaction between driver, vehicle and environment.

"Mixed reality" refers to the fusion of of physical and
digital worlds into a seamless experience. BMW M first presented mixed
reality technology at the Web Summit in Lisbon in November 2022 and
has been continuously developing it ever since.

With BMW M Mixed Reality, fans and first movers can immerse
themselves in a digital world while physically sitting at the wheel of
a BMW M vehicle and controlling it.

First-ever multisensory multiplayer

The possibilities of virtual reality are boundless: On a secret
mission, you enter the BMW M Garage and from there, you ascend to the
top of the BMW M Rooftop Circuit. Surrounded by skyscrapers, two BMW M
Mixed Reality customers now race against each other virtually in a
multiplayer mode A new feature is that spectators with personified
avatars can virtually watch the race live from the BMW M Mixed Reality
Bridge. They do not have to be physically present in the area where
the multiplayers are driving. They can be virtually connected using
devices like the Meta Quest or Apple Vision Pro.

BMW M Mixed Reality will be presented again in Lisbon this year. For
BMW M fans, BMW M Mixed Reality has been available in the singleplayer
mode since autumn 2023 as part of the BMW M Driving Experience in
Maisach, the world's first driving experience for customers.

For BMW M fans, BMW M Mixed Reality has been available in the
singleplayer mode since fall 2023 as part of the BMW M Driving
Experience in Maisach, the world's first driving experience for
customers. The pilot project began this year at the BMW M Performance
Driving School in California, USA.

Merging reality and the virtual world

The new BMW M Mixed Reality Rooftop Circuit was also a highlight at
the presentation of BMW M Mixed Reality. Drivers had to evade virtual
obstacles and collect BMW M coins in a shimmering metropolis. The BMW
M135 vehicles were used, which thanks to technical refinements can be
used as M Mixed Reality vehicles.

This includes very precise GPS positioning on the road surface in
order to transfer position and movement to the virtual world. Every
acceleration, every turn and every braking manoeuvre is transmitted to
the virtual world without latency thanks to precise sensor technology
and signal processing. Not only the movements of the vehicle are
transmitted, but also those of the driver.

The technology for this is already integrated into the standardised
in-vehicle systems of all BMW and BMW M automobiles. These systems are
so precise that no additional sensors are required.

Another key element is the VR headset that the driver wears to
experience the digital world. This headset must be connected to the
vehicle's internal systems in order to synchronise movements and data
in real time. Thanks to this equipment, various BMW M models can be
used for BMW M Mixed Reality, regardless of the drive system. This
includes vehicles with a conventional combustion engine such as the
BMW M2 or BMW M4 as well as models with a fully electric powertrain
such as the BMW i5 M60. In the future, BMW M can also imagine offering
the new BMW M5 with M Mixed Reality. The technology is flexible and
can be adapted to different vehicle platforms to provide a consistent
and immersive mixed reality experience.

Digital innovations for the driving experience

BMW Group Mixed Reality is an answer to what future virtual
experiences in the automotive sector could look like. At the current
stage of development, it enables perfect controllability in every
driving situation. Drifting will also be possible in the future,
although no date has yet been set for when customers will be able to
have this experience.

MINI also benefits from the BMW Group Mixed Reality umbrella: There
are also plans to offer customers a multi-sensory mixed reality
driving experience.

In addition, further applications in the field of vehicle development
and professional training are already being investigated. For example,
there is potential as a valuable addition to existing simulator
driving in the dynamic driving area, without compromising driving
safety, or in the development of driver assistance systems. On
existing racetracks, a Professional Track Trainer could in the future
display content such as the ideal line and braking points to drivers
in order to train them to drive even more precisely. Current AR
headset technology is not yet accurate enough for this ambitious use case.

Berlin. For two weeks, the 50th BMW BERLIN-MARATHON
was celebrated with an entertaining programme of events, culminating
in Sunday's highlight under ideal conditions and sunshine. Around one
million fans along the 42.195 km route through the German capital
witnessed not only an exciting men's finish but also the largest
starting field ever in the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON, with 58,000 runners.

As diverse as the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON is, the Ethiopian colours
dominated the podium on Sunday. In the women's race, the homeland of
running legend Haile Gebrselassie celebrated a first to fourth
lock-out. Favorite Tigist Ketema won convincingly ahead of Mestawot
Fikir, Bosena Mulatie, and Aberu Ayana Mulisa. In the men's race,
Ethiopia’s Milkesa Mengesha took a somewhat surprising victory. Kenyan
Cybrian Kotut finished second, while another Ethiopian, Haymanot Alew,
claimed third place.

“The 50th BMW Berlin Marathon was a lively anniversary on and off the
course and a compelling sporting event with more than 85,000 active
participants – more than ever before. A heartfelt thank you to all
athletes, the team of our partner SCC EVENTS, the 6,500 volunteers,
and all the fans along the route,” said Christian Ach, Head of BMW
Germany. “BMW was delighted to contribute as the title partner to the
success of this event. The BMW BERLIN-MARATHON moves many of our
customers and employees. It also exemplifies the BMW Group’s
commitment to sports, as it creates unique moments for everyone
involved, connects people from different cultures, and celebrates both
diversity and inclusion.”

The race dynamics for the men and women could not have been more
different. Tigist Ketema essentially led from start to finish,
achieving a commanding victory. The clock on the lead vehicle, a BMW
i5, stopped at 2:16:42 h – the third-fastest time ever run by a woman
in Berlin. Ketema's lead over the second and third-place finishers was
more than two minutes.

The male top-runners started the marathon together at a very fast
pace, leading to the fastest halfway split in BMW BERLIN-MARATHON
history. However, in the final quarter of the race, the pace slowed
significantly as tactics came to the fore. With three kilometres
remaining, the lead group was reduced to just three runners. Mengesha
took the initiative and began his final sprint shortly before the
Brandenburg Gate, leaving his competitors behind. He achieved a
personal best time of 2:03:17 h, with Kotut finishing five seconds
behind and Alew 14 seconds behind the winner. The best German finisher
was Sebastian Hendel, who placed 17th with a time of 2:07:33 h, while
the fastest German woman was Melat Kejeta, who finished 11th with a
time of 2:23:40 h.

The most exciting finish came from the men's handbike race. In a
photo finish, Vico Merklein (GER) won ahead of Michael Jørgensen
(DEN), followed closely by Johannes Herter (GER, all 1:04:46 h). In
the women's handbike race, Italy’s Francesca Porcellato took victory
with a time of 1:17:44 h, followed by Germans Julia Dierkesmann
(1:17:45 h) and Katrin Möller (1:18:47 h).

Marcel Hug (1:27:18 h) was the fastest man in a racing wheelchair, as
he was last year. The Swiss athlete finished ahead of David Weir (GBR,
1:29:05 h) and Geert Schipper (NED, 1:30:33 h). In the women's
wheelchair race, the defending champion also prevailed; Catherine
Debrunner (SUI) won in 1:35:23 h, followed by Susannah Scaroni (USA,
1:38:01 h) and Manuela Schär (SUI, 1:41:14 h).

At the 50th BMW BERLIN-MARATHON, several hundred BMW employees from
around the world also participated. To get ready and in the spirit of
the event, many of them gathered on Saturday at BMW Group Plant
Berlin. At the BMW Runners Get-together, they prepared for the race
together, embodying the marathon's spirit of bringing together people
from different cultures.

Title partner BMW supported the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON with 65 electric
route and organisational vehicles. The all-electric BMW i5 and BMW i4
were used as lead cars. The BMW iX2 safety car was also emission-free,
as were four BMW CE 04 scooters. The marathon was a home outing for
the two-wheelers that are produced at the BMW Group Plant Berlin.

The BMW Group plant in Berlin can look back on a long tradition of
motorcycle manufacturing. BMW motorcycles have been produced in
Berlin-Spandau since 1969. With over 2,400 employees and a capacity of
up to 900 motorcycles and premium e-scooters per day, the plant is the
heart of BMW Motorrad’s global production.

Press Contact: Kimberley Ng
Tel: +6568389532
E-mail: kimberley.ng@ctt.yespaygroup.com

Press Release,Sports

Munich/George. Located on the wonderful Garden Route
in South Africa, roughly halfway between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth,
is Fancourt Golf Resort – venue this week for the 33rd BMW
Golf Cup World Final. In keeping with the motto for the largest
international tournament series for amateur golfers – ‘once in a
lifetime’ – Fancourt provides the perfect conditions for a unique
sporting and social experience. Golfers have qualified for the World
Final through roughly 1,000 tournaments around the world. Together
with their guests, they will now enjoy breathtaking golf courses, an
exclusive resort, a tournament held in professional conditions, and a
thrilling programme away from the golf course.

Through their sporting efforts, the world finalists will also do
their bit for a good cause, as BMW Group is supporting UNICEF* in its
work in crisis regions with €1,000 for each net eagle carded over the
course of the tournament.

BMW Group’s educational involvement on the golf scene comes under the
tagline ‘Eagles for Education’ and was launched last year at the
company’s headquarters in Munich during the BMW International Open on
the DP World Tour. South Africa is also a country with which the BMW
Group has been closely associated on the golf scene and beyond for
more than 50 years.

The premium automobile manufacturer opened its first plant outside of
Germany in Rosslyn, near Johannesburg, from which 1.6 million cars
have since been delivered to more than 40 countries. Right from the
word go, BMW Group has also been committed to work in the community in
South Africa, focussing on the subject of STEM education (science,
technology, engineering and mathematics).

For this reason, South Africa was last year selected as the starting
point for a long-term partnership between BMW Group and UNICEF*. This
comes under the slogan ‘BRIDGE. Educating young people for tomorrow,
today’ and also focusses on educational projects in STEM. Over the
course of 2024, the collaboration will be expanded to Brazil, India,
Mexico and Thailand – all of which have programme needs and have BMW
Group presence. The partnership will contribute to UNICEF’s global aim
to reach 10 million children and young people each year through education.

BMW Group also has the opportunity to raise funds to support UNICEF’s
work in emergencies and protracted crises. The United Nation’s
International Children’s Fund uses these resources to support children
to develop skills to cope with trauma and to provide them with a safe
environment in which to continue their learning.

Over the course of nine rounds of golf, the competitors can raise
money by taking fantastic golf shots and hitting as many net eagles as
possible. The World Final is played across three rounds in three
categories: Men’s A (up to HCP 12), Men’s B (HCP 13-28) and Ladies
(HCP up to 28). As well as in these individual categories, a title is
also up for grabs in a national team competition.

In keeping with tradition, the World Final kicks off on Monday
evening with a welcome evening and the parading of flags from all the
nationalities present. The event draws to a worthy close on Friday
evening with the Gala Dinner and a very special guest of honour. South
African golf legend Gary Player, who has no fewer than 18 major titles
to his name, including nine on the Seniors tour, will present the
trophies after first entertaining the BMW guests with his famous
charisma and legendary fitness during a unique golf clinic. The
88-year-old is the perfect guest of honour for the BMW Golf Cup World
Final – not only due to his status as one of the greatest golfers of
all time, but also because he designed the three spectacular golf
courses at Fancourt.
