<p>Outstanding performance, fascinating luxury and a confident
appearance characterize the BMW M8 Competition Coupé (combined fuel
    consumption: 11.4 – 11.0 l/100 km according to WLTP; combined CO2
    emissions: 260 – 251 g/km), the BMW M8 Competition Convertible
(combined fuel consumption: 11.6 – 11.2 l/100 km according to WLTP).
    LTP; combined CO2 emissions: 264 – 255 g/km) and the BMW M8
Competition Gran Coupé (combined fuel consumption: 11.6 – 11.2 l/100
    km according to WLTP; combined CO2 emissions: 264 – 256 g/km).
    Design modifications and optimized operation.</p>
<p>The new edition of the BMW M8, which is available in three body
versions, is particularly popular with additions to the range of
exterior colours and the M alloy wheels. Additional possibilities
for individualising the appearance are provided by the M lights
Shadow Line, which are available for the first time for the
luxurious high-performance sports cars. Full leather
Merino/Alcantara in the new Black/Sakhir Orange colour variant
provides fresh impulses in the interior. In addition, the operating
comfort is increased by the 12.3-inch touch display of the BMW
    iDrive operating system.</p>
  <p>
<strong>Fresh impetus for the presence of BMW M GmbH in the luxury segment.</strong></p>
<p>The BMW M8 Competition Coupé, the BMW M8 Competition Convertible
and the BMW M8 Competition Gran Coupé together mark the top position
in the model range of BMW M GmbH, which has a strong presence in the
luxury segment with this model series. With their independent body
concepts, the three top models each embody an individual expression
of M of typical performance in the prestigious competitive
    environment of luxury sports cars.</p>
<p>Their central common feature is the drive and chassis technology
designed for an extremely emotional driving experience. Power for
outstanding performance is provided by a V8 engine with M TwinPower
Turbo technology, which mobilizes a maximum output of 460 kW/625 hp
and a maximum torque of 750 Nm. Due to its typical M high-speed
character, the engine develops high drive torque over wide load
ranges, which is optimally placed on the road via an 8-speed M
Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic and the M xDrive all-wheel
drive system. Their precise coordination enables exciting sporty
driving manoeuvres, such as accelerating from a standstill to 100
km/h in just 3.2 seconds (BMW M8 Competition Coupé and BMW M8
Competition Gran Coupé) or 3.3 seconds (BMW M8 Competition Convertible).</p>
<p>A chassis technology developed with racing know-how and tailored to
each model guarantees the characteristic harmony of dynamics,
agility and precision in driving behaviour of BMW M Automobile in
every situation. The experience gained during the development of the
BMW M8 GTE racing car was also used.</p>
  <p>
<strong>Eight new exterior colours, premiere for M luminaires Shadow Line.</strong></p>
<p>Powerful shapes, generous, elegant surfaces, aerodynamically
optimised lines and M-specific design features that are geared to
the functional requirements of a high-performance sports car
characterise the unmistakable appearance of the BMW M8 Competition
Coupé, the BMW M8 Competition Convertible and the BMW M8 Competition
Gran Coupé. The clear surface design of the exterior is now
particularly intensively underlined by new exterior colours. The
update in the body painting program includes eight variants
available for the first time for the three models.</p>
<p>The new range includes the exterior colours Skyscraper grey
mectallic, Brooklyn grey metallic and Isle of Man green metallic as
well as the BMW Individual lacquer tansanite blue metallic. In
addition, four new variants of the particularly high-quality Frozen
finishes are available, which impressively highlight the modern
design language of the BMW M8 models with their silk-matt finishes.
The BMW Individual special finishes Frozen Pure Grey metallic,
Frozen Deep Grey metallic, Frozen Deep Green metallic and Frozen
Tanzanite Blue metallic are also available.</p>
<p>The BMW Laser Light with adaptive cornering light and glare-free
main beam assistant BMW Selective Beam provides optimized visibility
in different weather conditions and driving situations as standard.
As an option, they are now also available as M lamps Shadow Line for
the new edition of high-performance sports cars. The dark design of
the inserts and chrome elements inside the headlamps, in combination
with the high-gloss black frame of the BMW kidney as standard,
contributes to a particularly striking and sporty look on the front
    of the vehicle.</p>
  <p>
    <strong>New 20 inch M light alloy wheels in star-spoke design.</strong></p>
<p>The chassis technology of the new BMW M8 models includes
electronically controlled shock absorbers and an electromechanical M
Servotronic steering system, as well as an integrated brake system
that enables the display of two pedal characteristics. This allows
the rider to choose between a comfort-oriented and a sporty-direct
pedal feeling. As an alternative to the standard M Compound brake
system, an optional M Carbon ceramic brake is available.</p>
<p>The DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) driving stability system allows
the driver to activate the M Dynamic Mode, which allows greater
wheel slip. In combination with the rear-wheel-driven design of the
M xDrive, particularly sporty driving maneuvers including controlled
drifts can be experienced. The standard equipment also includes
20-inch M light alloy wheels equipped with high-performance tyres in
    the sizes 275/35 R 20 front and 285/35 R 20 rear. Other M light
alloy wheels in the same format are available as special equipment,
including a new variant in star-spoke design and in bicolor
    black/grey version.</p>
  <p>
<strong>M sports seats and M Carbon bucket seats in new
      leather/Alcantara variant.</strong></p>
<p>The interior of the new BMW M8 models combines a typical M cockpit
design with modern luxury. The standard BMW Head-Up Display offers
M-specific displays. The Setup button on the center console allows
direct access to the settings for the engine, damper, steering, M
xDrive and brake system. Two variants of the individually created M
Setup can be permanently stored together with the preferred settings
for the drive sound, the gearshift characteristic, the driving
stability control and the Auto Start Stop function. They can then be
accessed by pressing one of the two M buttons on the steering wheel.
In addition, the M Mode button on the centre console can be used to
control the driver assistance systems as well as the displays in the
instrument cluster and the head-up display. You can select the
    settings ROAD, SPORT and TRACK.</p>
<p>The standard M sports seats also support the intensive driving
experience in the high-performance sports car. The optionally
available M Carbon bucket seats create an unadulterated racing
feeling for the driver and passenger. With their structure-based
design, visible carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) surfaces,
integrated headrests, openings in the backrests and side cheeks and
guides for multi-point seat belts, they combine racing functionality
with long-distance comfort and luxurious workmanship. They are
heated and also offer electrical adjustment options, an illuminated
“M8” lettering on the headrests and a memory function on the
    driver’s side.</p>
<p>In combination with the M Sports seats and the M Carbon bucket
seats, a full-leather Merino/Alcantara trim is standard on board the
new BMW M8 models. It is now also available for the first time in
the colour combination Black/Sakhir Orange. In addition, the black
Alcantara dimensions in all versions of this equipment are now being
extended to the instrument panel and the upper areas of the door sills.</p>
  <p>
<strong>Optimized operating comfort thanks to 12.3-inch control display.</strong></p>
<p>The BMW Live Cockpit Professional is also part of standard
equipment in the BMW M8 Competition Coupé, BMW M8 Competition
Convertible and BMW M8 Competition Gran Coupé. It includes a control
display whose screen size has now grown from 10.25 to 12.3 inches.
The touch function of the large on-board monitor allows a
particularly fast, comfortable and intuitive operation of numerous
    vehicle functions.</p>
<p>The BMW Live Cockpit Professional includes the online navigation
system BMW Maps and the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant. In
addition, the standard equipment with the Driving Assistant, the
Parking Assistant including reversing assistant, the telephony with
wireless charging and the Harman Kardon Surround Sound System
underlines the exclusive character of the new BMW M8 models.</p></div>

  <strong>Singapore</strong>. Yet another four-door high-performance
sports car is poised to swell the ranks of BMW M GmbH models in the
luxury segment. BMW Asia and Performance Munich Autos today announced
the launch of the first-ever BMW M8 Competition Gran Coupe – it blends
standout performance attributes with a distinctive design concept and
increased space for rear-seat passengers. The first-ever BMW M8
Competition Gran Coupe represents an exclusive opportunity for a
driver and passengers in four full-size seats to sample the signature
dynamism, agility, and precision offered by BMW M GmbH.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The new four-door high-performance model is derived directly from the
new BMW M8 Coupe and was developed alongside the BMW M8 GTE endurance
racer. The powertrain, chassis, and aerodynamics were adapted to suit
the standalone concept underpinning it in intensive testing on the BMW
Group’s proving grounds, the Nürburgring-Nordschleife circuit, and
  other punishing race tracks.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong>High-revving V8 engine with 625 hp, eight-speed M Steptronic
    transmission, M xDrive and Active M Differential.</strong></p>
<p>The hallmark power delivery of BMW M engines is one of the calling
cards of the V8 unit fitted in the first-ever BMW M8 Competition Gran
  Coupe. The high-revving 4.4-litre eight-cylinder engine with M
TwinPower Turbo technology impresses with its instant response to the
slightest press of the accelerator, vast appetite for revs, and
uninterrupted power development over a wide rev band. The engine
develops a maximum output of 625 hp with a peak torque of 750 Nm, and
teams up with the M Sport exhaust system and eight-speed M Steptronic
transmission with Drivelogic. As such, the first-ever BMW M8
Competition Gran Coupe accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in a blistering
3.2 seconds – and gets from 0 to 200 km/h in 11.0 seconds. Top speed
is electronically limited to 250 km/h, and rises to 305 km/h if the
  optional M Driver’s Package is selected.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The M xDrive all-wheel-drive system with a rear-biased configuration
channels the engine’s power onto the road with poise and authority. It
works via a centrally controlled interaction with the Active M
Differential at the rear axle – torque is distributed between the
front and rear wheels with creamy smoothness and fully variably by
means of the transfer case’s electronically controlled multi-plate
clutch. After which, the Active M Differential splits it again between
the two rear wheels as the situation demands. Drivers can then use the
Setup menu to select 4WD Sport mode, which sends an even higher
proportion of drive to the rear wheels and further sharpens handling
agility. Deactivating DSC brings 2WD mode into play, with drive fed
exclusively through the rear wheels and suppressing any intervention
from the control systems to allow experienced drivers to enjoy an
  unadulterated driving experience.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
<strong>Cooling and oil supply systems developed for the race track.</strong></p>
<p>To maintain optimum operating conditions in all driving settings –
from urban journeys to outings on the race track – the first-ever BMW
M8 Competition Gran Coupe is equipped with a highly efficient cooling
system. Its central cooling module is complemented by two remote
high-temperature coolers at either side: the low-temperature circuit
incorporates the indirect charge air coolers, while the
high-temperature circuit supplies coolant to both the engine blocks
and the turbochargers. The system also comprises an additional engine
oil cooler and a dedicated transmission oil cooler.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The oil supply system has also been geared towards the specific
demands of track use. To this end, the oil sump includes a smaller
front sump that steps in when extra capacity is needed. This ensures a
reliable supply of oil at all times, even when the car is subject to
extreme rates of lateral and longitudinal acceleration.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
<strong>Model-specific chassis technology, integrated braking system.</strong></p>
<p>The design and responses of the model-specific chassis technology
have been prompted by the particular demands of track use, likewise
the extremely stiff mountings connecting the suspension to the body.
The V8’s rigid connection to the vehicle structure results in a
remarkably direct transmission of engine power to the drivetrain,
sharpening the car’s responses on turn-in and transmits the rousing
engine note into the cabin with satisfying effect.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Standard specification includes electronically controlled dampers and
electromechanical M Servotronic steering. COMFORT mode smooths out
imperfections in the road surface, while switching to SPORT mode
activates significantly firmer damper settings, fine-tuned on the
Nürburgring-Nordschleife circuit. Activating SPORT PLUS mode produces
an even tauter setup to achieve maximum longitudinal and lateral
acceleration on smooth stretches of asphalt, such as race tracks. In
its M-specific configuration, the new integrated braking system
enables two different brake pedal settings – the driver can choose
between a more comfort-oriented response when braking and a
particularly direct effect with instantaneous response.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong>Distinctive design, extra rear space.</strong></p>
<p>Among the ingredients in the extravagant appearance of this four-door
high-performance sports car is its dynamically stretched silhouette,
muscular shoulders, and standalone rear-end design. Measuring 5,098 mm
from nose to tail, the first-ever BMW M8 Competition Gran Coupe is 231
mm longer than its two-door sibling. Its distinct proportions are lent
further emphasis by a width of 1,943 mm and height of 1,420 mm. Track
widths are 1,626 mm at the front and 1,660 mm at the rear. The front
section of the first-ever BMW M8 Competition Gran Coupe is identical
to BMW M8 Coupe up to the A-pillars, and the windscreen is positioned
at a more upright angle, resulting in increased headroom for the
occupants in the front of the four-door sports car.  </p>
<p> </p>
<p>Minimised weight (the car is just 95 kg heavier than the BMW M8
Competition Coupe), a low centre of gravity, wide tracks, superb
aerodynamic balance, and a familiar M approach to increasing the
stiffness of the body structure and suspension mountings all serve to
maximise performance. The wheelbase of the Gran Coupe model measures
3,027 mm, an increase of 200 mm longer than that of the two-door
variant – the addition in wheelbase length enables all chassis and
control systems to be adjusted for individual levels of comfort
without having to compromise on the car’s extremely sporty character.
This brings exceptional spaciousness to the rear compartment, and a
third rear seat is available for short journeys. The boot has a
  capacity of 440 litres.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Furthermore, a BMW kidney grille surround and model badging in
  High-gloss Black, forged M light-alloy wheels with a high-sheen milled
3D pattern and bi-colour paint finish, a black rear spoiler, and an M
Sport exhaust system with Black Chrome tailpipes provide a visual
showcase for the high-performance character of the new model. The
first-ever BMW M8 Competition Gran Coupe is also specified with
  20" M light alloy wheels in the Star-spoke style 813 M Bicolour
  with mixed tyres as standard.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
<strong>Interior: Signature M cockpit meets aura of luxury.</strong></p>
<p>Track-focused performance qualities combine with lavish spaciousness
to deliver dynamic prowess and exclusivity in unprecedented form in
the first-ever BMW M8 Competition Gran Coupe. Its interior
successfully blends the characteristic racing flavour of M models with
a feeling of abundant space and luxury. Carbon Fibre interior trim
strips and red splashes of colour on the steering wheel’s M buttons
and the Start/Stop button on the centre console set the tone for the cockpit.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The sporty feel is further amplified via the new-look gear selector
lever with Drivelogic switch. Trimmed in leather with an M logo and
stitching in M GmbH colours, the selector lever also incorporates a
distinctive cut-out with integral lighting for added emphasis. An
Alcantara headliner adds a further touch of luxury.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The inimitable M feeling continues with M sports seats upholstered in
BMW Individual ‘Merino’ full leather trim featuring perforated 3D
quilting, as well as M seat belts. The front seats also feature active
seat ventilation, as well as electric adjustment and a memory
  function. The rear backrest has a 40:20:40 split/folding design.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
<strong>New control and operating system, exclusive standard equipment.</strong></p>
<p>A Setup button on the centre console gives the driver direct access
to the settings for the engine, dampers, steering, M xDrive and
braking system. Two individually composed variants of the M Setup can
be stored and called up using the M buttons on the steering wheel.
Added to which, the M Mode button on the centre console allows the
driver assistance systems and the instrument cluster / Head-Up Display
screens to be configured as required. Drivers can also select TRACK
mode in addition to ROAD and SPORT.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The latest advances in the areas of operation and connectivity can be
enjoyed with the likewise standard BMW Live Cockpit Professional,
complete with navigation system and the BMW Intelligent Personal
Assistant. In addition, the exclusive standard equipment of the
first-ever BMW M8 Competition Gran Coupe includes Adaptive LED
Headlights with BMW Laserlight, an M-specific BMW Head-Up Display, M
sports seats, and the Parking Assistant Plus function. The Driving
Assistant Professional system eases the driver’s workload in
monotonous driving situations – it enhances both comfort and safety
with features such as the Steering and lane control assistant, the
Lane Keeping Assistant with active side collision protection, the
Evasion Assistant, and the Crossroads warning, Wrong-way warning and
  Front Cross Traffic Alert systems.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The first-ever BMW M8 Competition Gran Coupe is now available for
viewing at the Performance Munich Autos showroom.</p>

<strong>Singapore.</strong> BMW Asia and Performance Munich Autos
today announced the availability of the first-ever BMW M8 Competition
Coupe in Singapore. This new BMW M high-performance version takes the
BMW 8 Series model range to an even higher level of performance,
delivering supreme performance and an unmistakable blend of dynamism,
agility, and precision. The first-ever BMW M8 Competition Coupe is a
2+2 seater and benefits from the most powerful engine ever developed
by BMW M for a production model: the 4.4-litre V8 with BMW TwinPower
Turbo technology and a peak output of 625 hp.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The high-performance power unit teams up with an eight-speed M
Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic, harnessing the engine’s power
to maximum effect before it is channelled to the road via the M xDrive
all-wheel-drive system. The rear-wheel bias of M xDrive in this
application delivers grin-inducing, assured handling with optimised
traction when the driver enters the dynamic red zone. The
model-specific chassis technology has been designed and tuned with the
specific demands of track use in mind. One of the standout features of
the chassis is a newly developed M-specific integrated braking system
which presents the driver with two different brake pedal feel settings.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The precise interaction between powertrain, chassis technology, and
aerodynamics has been carefully honed over the course of intensive
testing at the BMW Group’s test track in Miramas in southern France,
the winter testing centre in Arjeplog, Sweden and the Nürburgring’s
Nordschleife circuit, along with other race circuits. Experience
collected from the development of the BMW M8 GTE racing car also
played a role in the configuration process. The performance-focused
character of the engine, transmission and chassis allows the
first-ever BMW M8 Competition Coupe to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in an
  astounding 3.2 seconds.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
<strong>Fast responses, a thirst for revs, and sustained power
delivery: V8 engine with signature M performance traits.</strong></p>
<p>The high-revving V8 engine presents a compelling blend of razor-sharp
responses, a feverish appetite for revs and sustained power delivery
across an extraordinarily wide rev band. The M TwinPower Turbo
technology of the 4.4-litre unit includes a pair of twin-scroll
turbochargers – positioned in the “V” between the cylinder banks and
boasting optimised efficiency – and indirect charge air cooling, plus
a direct fuel injection system working with maximum pressure of 350
bar. Another technological highlight is the cross-bank exhaust manifolds.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The first-ever BMW M8 Competition Coupe houses the most powerful
engine ever developed for a BMW M GmbH car – the V8 engine serves up
peak torque of 750 Nm from just 1,800 rpm all the way to 5,800 rpm,
and goes on to deliver a maximum power output of 625 hp at 6,000 rpm.
A special engine mounting with an increase in the mounts’ spring rate
from 580 to 900 N/mm was specially designed for the first-ever BMW M8
Competition Coupe – this allows a more rigid connection with the
vehicle structure, resulting in an extremely crisp engine response. It
also has a positive effect on the immediacy of turn-in and the
transmission of engine noise into the cabin.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>A sophisticated cooling system ensures optimum operating temperatures
at all times, both in everyday use on urban routes and when the coupe
is stretching its legs on the track. The central cooling module, is
flanked by two high-temperature water circuits, and the system also
features an additional engine oil cooler and separate transmission oil
cooler. The particular challenges of track driving are reflected in
the design of the oil supply system – the oil sump has a smaller front
chamber, which steps in when extra capacity is needed. An additional
suction stage allows the map-controlled oil pump to draw lubricant
from the smaller chamber. This ensures a reliable supply of oil at all
times, even under extreme lateral and longitudinal acceleration.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The engine’s immense thrust is accompanied by a stirring soundtrack
courtesy of the M Sport exhaust system. It offers precise acoustic
feedback on the engine’s power delivery, especially when the driver
presses hard on the accelerator or pushes into the upper reaches of
the rev band. The two exhaust pipes mainly run in a straight line and
have a large cross section. They each have a gasoline particulate
  filter to reduce particulate emissions.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
  <strong>Eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic and M xDrive.</strong></p>
<p>Power transfer is via an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with
Drivelogic. The latest update of this transmission has been tuned
perfectly to the performance characteristics of the V8 unit and
incorporates an extremely robust torque converter. The transmission
also stands out with its optimum gear spacing, highly efficient
transmission management, extremely short shift times, and direct
connection to the engine. The Drivelogic button on the newly designed
selector lever allows the driver to select from three modes with
specific shift characteristics for particularly efficient, sporty, or
ultra-dynamic driving. In both automated and manual mode, drivers can
  choose between a comfort-oriented, sports-focused or track-optimised
gearshift setup. There are also M gearshift paddles on the steering wheel.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Another factor in the enthralling performance of the first-ever BMW
M8 Competition Coupe is the M xDrive all-wheel-drive system with its
rear-biased setup, giving the coupe that unmistakeable M feeling.
Unveiled for the first time in the new BMW M5, the new M xDrive system
blends the traction benefits of power sent through all four wheels
with the proven dynamic qualities of classical rear-wheel drive. The
centrally-controlled interaction between M xDrive and the Active M
Differential ensures loss-free transfer of the engine’s huge power to
the road. From the Setup menu, the driver can choose between the
default 4WD setting and 4WD Sport mode, with the latter diverting a
larger slice of engine power to the rear wheels. Deactivating the
Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) function brings 2WD mode into the
equation. The transfer of power exclusively to the rear wheels and
absence of stabilising inputs from the control systems add up to a
driving experience of singular purity for the experienced wheelman.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
<strong>M-specific chassis with for poise and performance of the
    highest order.</strong></p>
<p>The first-ever BMW M8 Competition Coupe provides a fresh take on the
characteristic M feeling – this translates into unbeatable directional
stability even in extremely dynamic situations, a linear build-up of
transverse loads however strong the lateral acceleration, and neutral
steering behaviour even at the limit. The chassis technology comprises
model-specific components and a newly developed integrated braking
system in a set-up has been fine-tuned in intensive testing on race
tracks. At the same time, the chassis also lives up to the
expectations of luxury car customers when it comes to everyday and
  long-distance comfort.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The rear axle also incorporates purpose-designed components to meet
the exceptional handling dynamics required of high-performance sports
cars. The M-specific forged links are one of the factors in the
fleet-footed agility of the coupe, while the precise responses of the
suspension and damping elements are partly down to the anti-roll bars’
improved rigidity. Handling properties are given a further boost by
the front end’s high torsional strength, which has been achieved with
a tower-to-bulkhead strut and a newly developed, exceptionally rigid
shear panel with integrated side sill connection. A steel X-brace and
an aluminium transverse strut are fitted for an even more stable
connection between the rear axle and the body.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The first-ever BMW M8 Competition Coupe is also equipped as standard
with M-specific Adaptive suspension including electronically
controlled dampers and electromechanical M Servotronic steering. The
DSC system hooks up with the M xDrive all-wheel-drive system and the
Active M Differential and also offers M Dynamic mode. This mode allows
a greater degree of wheel slip and combines with the M xDrive system’s
rear-biased setup to deliver an exceptionally sporty drive complete
with controlled drifts through corners. For the M Servotronic
steering, the variable ratio adjusts to changes in steering angle and
helps to give the car superb straight-line poise, sharp turn-in
response and excellent directional accuracy through corners.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
<strong>Integrated braking system with configurable pedal feel.</strong></p>
<p>M compound brakes are specified as standard for the first-ever BMW M8
Competition Coupe, with M carbon-ceramic brakes (as pictured)
optionally available from the factory. With their minimised weight and
substantially lower unsprung mass compared with conventional braking
systems, the M compound brakes are extremely comfortable to use, offer
excellent feel, and ensure braking stability even under high loads.
This is fitted in conjunction with an M-specific version of an
integrated braking system. Thanks to this cutting-edge technology, the
brake activation, brake booster, and braking control functions are
brought together within a compact module. The brake pressure required
is triggered by an electric actuator, allowing braking pressure to be
generated more dynamically. Pedal feel is optimised and the
interventions from the stability control system are significantly
  faster and more precise.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The version of the new braking system developed for BMW M models also
presents the driver with two pedal settings. COMFORT and SPORT modes
alter the amount of pressure on the brake pedal required to slow
the car. The driver can therefore choose between more comfort-oriented
and particularly direct, instantaneous response when braking.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
<strong>Distinctive design as an expression of dynamism and exclusivity.</strong></p>
<p>Measuring 4,867 millimetres in length, 1,907 millimetres wide and
1,362 millimetres tall, and with a 2,827-millimetre wheelbase, the
first-ever BMW M8 Competition Coupe displays the hallmark proportions
of a luxury-class sports car. The 1,627 millimetre front track and
1,632-millimetre rear track also play their part in imbuing the new
high-performance sports cars with their inherent athleticism.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The coupe’s exclusive aura is further enhanced by model-specific
features geared to the functional requirements of high-performance
sports cars. Character-defining features include the double-bubble
contour of its carbon fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) roof,
reminiscent of classic racing cars.  Large air intakes and the BMW
kidney grille with familiar M double bars at the front end, lavishly
flared front wheel arches, M gills in the front side panels,
aerodynamically optimised exterior mirrors, a rear spoiler and a rear
apron with diffuser elements in a contrasting colour create a fitting
visual showcase for the dynamic potential and exclusive status of the
new M contenders. A signature element on the BMW M8 Competition Coupe
is the grille surround and model lettering in High-gloss Black, as
well as the BMW Laserlights with Selective Beam. Standard
specification also includes 20-inch forged M light-alloy wheels in
  Star-spoke style 813 M Bicolour as standard, fitted with 275/35 R 20
tyres at the front and 285/35 R 20 tyres at the rear.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>An M Carbon exterior package is offered as an option – this includes
inlays for the front air intakes, exterior mirror caps, M gills in the
side panels, plus a rear diffuser and rear spoiler made from CFRP. A
notch in the centre of the spoiler mirrors the double-bubble contour
  of the roof.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>
<strong>Interior and equipment: pure M feeling bathed in an exclusive ambience.</strong></p>
<p>The interior of the new high-performance sports car brings together
an M specific cockpit design and progressive luxury. The newly
developed sports seats stand out with their bicolour leather/Alcantara
trim, perforated 3D quilting, pronounced side bolsters, clearly
defined shoulder areas and integral head restraints with illuminated
model badges. Alcantara surfacing is also available on the centre
console, lower section of the instrument panel, and the BMW Individual headliner.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The inimitable M feeling is combined with other exclusive equipment
features to increase the comfort of the new flagship models from BMW M
GmbH in everyday use and on long journeys, while highlighting their
elite status as luxury cars. Standard specification includes the BMW
Display Key, the BMW Head-Up Display with M-specific content, the
Driving Assistant Professional, the Parking Assistant Plus and the BMW
Live Cockpit Professional with navigation system and BMW Intelligent
  Personal Assistant.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The new Setup button on the centre console enables direct access to
the settings for the engine, dampers, steering, M xDrive and braking
system so they can be tailored to personal preferences and the
situation at hand. Two individually composed variants of this M setup
can be stored permanently with the driver’s preferred settings for the
engine sound, gearshift characteristics of the eight-speed M
Steptronic transmission, driving stability control and Auto Start Stop
function. The overall vehicle configuration can then be called up at
any time by pressing one of the two M buttons on the steering wheel.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Another new feature is the M Mode button on the centre console, which
the driver can use to adjust the driver assistance systems and the
displays in the instrument cluster and Head-Up Display. M Mode allows
the driver to activate ROAD and SPORT settings, while the TRACK
setting is designed exclusively for use on race circuits. Changing the
mode alters the information presented to the driver on the screens,
while the safety-enhancing interventions by the driver assistance
systems – such as active braking or steering inputs – are reduced to a
  bare minimum or deactivated altogether.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>The first-ever BMW M8 Competition Coupe is now available for viewing
at the Performance Munich Autos showroom.</p>
