Singapore. BMW Asia today announced that the all-new
BMW M2 CS is now in Singapore. The all-new BMW M2 CS further raises
the bar for sheer driving pleasure at the premium end of the compact
high-performance sports car segment. Outstanding agility, a
significant increase in power output, supreme dynamics and
particularly sporty design characteristics make driving the latest
exclusive special-edition model from BMW M GmbH an enthralling
experience. The all-new BMW M2 CS is the next chapter in an emphatic
success story, which began with the iconic BMW 2002 turbo and
continued with the BMW 1 Series M Coupé and the first BMW M2 –
including the first CS variant, which was unveiled in 2019.

“Like every CS and CSL model before it, the BMW M2 CS is produced in
very small numbers globally,” said Lars Nielsen, Managing Director,
BMW Group Asia. “We have been lucky enough to secure a select number
of units for the Singapore market. As the latest version has a limited
production of only one year, it’s no surprise that all our allocated
units have already found their owners. This speaks volumes about how
the BMW M2 CS is not just a car, but a prized experience that
passionate drivers here value deeply.”

The new version of this special edition offers the ultimate in
driving pleasure – both as a track tool and in day-to-day use. Like
the BMW M2 Racing, which is based on the chassis from the
latest-generation BMW M2, the all-new BMW M2 CS is manufactured at BMW
Group Plant San Luis Potosí in Mexico. As has become familiar with
other special-edition models from BMW M GmbH, the all-new BMW M2 CS
will be produced in limited numbers.

The all-new BMW M2 CS is based on the second generation of the BMW M2
and significantly improves what is already an extraordinary level of
performance. For example, the high-revving six-cylinder in-line engine
with M TwinPower Turbo technology develops an impressive 530 hp in the
all-new BMW M2 CS. That is 50 hp more than in the current BMW M2. As
such, the all-new BMW M2 CS matches the performance of the BMW M3
Competition Sedan with M xDrive and the BMW M4 Competition Coupé with
M xDrive. The all-new BMW M2 CS sends its power to the rear wheels via
the eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic, which comes
as standard.

Noticeable weight reduction thanks to intelligent lightweight design.

BMW M GmbH has reduced the weight of the special edition by roughly
30 kilograms compared to the standard BMW M2. This has been achieved
through modifications including judicious use of lightweight design
techniques. For example, the all-new BMW M2 CS features a multitude of
exterior and interior components made from carbon-fibre-reinforced
plastic (CFRP). And it will be fitted as standard with forged M
light-alloy wheels. As a result, the CS will be the lightest BMW M2 so
far in the current generation.

Upgraded six-cylinder in-line engine with significant increase
in power output and torque.

For the all-new BMW M2 CS, BMW M GmbH has opted for an upgraded
version of the 3.0-litre, six-cylinder in-line engine found in the
standard BMW M2. This intensifies the performance experience in the
special edition, particularly in highly dynamic driving situations. It
further sharpens the engine’s unmistakable power characteristics and
perfectly accentuates the linear power delivery – sustained into the
higher reaches of the rev range – familiar from M models. Compared to
the BMW M2 with standard eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with
Drivelogic, maximum torque has been raised by 50 Nm to 650 Nm and is
available across a broad rev range – between 2,650 and 5,730 rpm. The
engine produces its maximum power output of 530 hp at 6,250 rpm, with
the engine speed topping out at 7,200 rpm. In order to allow extremely
rapid reactions to the driver’s requests for acceleration and to make
the improved performance characteristics of the engine a particularly
intense experience, the accelerator mapping and response have been
optimised in all the drive modes, which are selectable via the M Setup menu.

Racing expertise delivers inspiring performance.

With its improved peak performance, the all-new BMW M2 CS is
consolidating its claim to top spot in the compact high-performance
segment. This performance specification is achieved by modifying the
engine management and provides further proof of the outstanding
potential of the six-cylinder in-line engine developed by BMW M GmbH,
which also serves as the basis for the power unit used in the BMW M4
GT3 EVO racing car. The engine’s M TwinPower Turbo technology
comprises a pair of mono-scroll turbochargers, which each supply three
cylinders with compressed air, an indirect intercooler supplied by a
low-temperature circuit, and an electronically controlled wastegate.
The technology package also includes High Precision Injection, which
operates with maximum pressure of 350 bar, VALVETRONIC variable valve
timing and Double-VANOS fully variable camshaft timing. The engine
also has an array of details borrowed directly from racing car design,
including its lightning-fast response, appetite for revs and
high-performance capability in track use. These details include an
extremely rigid crankcase with a sleeve-free, closed-deck
construction, a forged crankshaft with lightweight design, cylinder
bores with a wire-arc sprayed iron coating and a 3D-printed core for
the cylinder head.

The M-specific cooling system ensures the powertrain components
maintain an optimal operating temperature even under heavy loads and
the oil circuit is designed to handle extreme dynamic driving
situations. A map-controlled oil pump ensures reliable oil supply even
under extreme acceleration.

The engine sends its drive power through an eight-speed M Steptronic
transmission with Drivelogic as standard. The Drivelogic button
integrated into the selector lever makes it possible to alter the
transmission’s shift characteristics, with a choice of three clearly
distinguishable settings. Both the selector lever in the latest M
design and the gearshift paddles on the steering wheel enable
sequential interventions in the gear selection process at any time.

BMW M2 CS breaks the four-second barrier.

A model-specific engine mounting with a higher spring rate makes for
a particularly rigid connection of the drive unit to the structure of
the all-new BMW M2 CS. The extremely direct transmission of power to
the drivetrain optimises response. Thanks to the lightning-fast power
delivery, in combination with the increased engine power and the car’s
lighter weight, the all-new BMW M2 CS is able to break the four-second
barrier for the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h. It’s time of 3.8 seconds is
0.2 seconds faster than for the standard BMW M2. The figure calculated
using the “1-foot rollout” method** is 3.5 seconds. The increase in
power also enhances acceleration from rest to 200 km/h. The time
required here is reduced by 1.2 seconds to 11.7 seconds – or 11.4
seconds according to the “1-foot rollout” method**. The mid-range
sprint from 80 to 120 km/h takes 3.4 seconds. The top speed of the
special-edition model, which comes with the M Driver’s Package as
standard, is electronically limited to 302 km/h. The dynamic power
delivery is backed by an emotionally rich engine note conjured by the
M-specific exhaust system with electrically controlled flaps and the
four exhaust pipes typical of M, which come in matt black on the
all-new BMW M2 CS. For those wishing to retrofit their car, the M
Performance silencer system with carbon and titanium tailpipe trims
developed specifically for CS models is available for the first time
in the range of M Performance Parts for the all-new BMW M2 CS. The
lightweight valve exhaust system with titanium mufflers generates a
racing-car sound guaranteed to stir the emotions. The Active Sound
Design helps to convey the engine’s soundtrack authentically inside
the cabin, with the intensity raised another notch when SPORT or SPORT
PLUS mode is selected using the Driving Experience Control switch.

Chassis and brakes optimised for increased performance.

The chassis technology and braking system in the all-new BMW M2 CS
are precisely tailored to the improved performance characteristics of
the engine and the specific weight balance of the special edition. The
chassis has been lowered by eight millimetres and adapted specially
for the car with bespoke tuning for its springs, dampers and chassis
control systems. These modifications improve driving dynamics
significantly in all scenarios – including under extremely hard
driving. Indeed, the settings for the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC)
and M Dynamic Mode have been optimised precisely to meet the demands
of driving on the racetrack. The standard adaptive M chassis has been
given a carefully adapted model-specific setup, as have the M
Servotronic steering, M Sport differential and the integrated braking
system. An M Compound braking system with red brake callipers, which
comes as standard, provides powerful retardation. An M Carbon ceramic
brake system with red brake callipers is available as an option.
Standard equipment also includes CS-exclusive forged M light-alloy
wheels with a double-spoke design and matt Gold Bronze finish. They
measure 19 inches at the front and 20 inches at the rear axle and are
fitted as standard with track tyres, the dimensions of which are
275/35 ZR19 at the front and 285/30 ZR20 at the rear. An ultra-track
tyre and a standard sport tyre (a no-cost option) in the same
dimensions are available on request.

Exterior features many carbon components and exclusive details.

The punchy exterior of the all-new BMW M2 CS is shaped by many
components made of carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) and other
exclusive details. As well as the M exterior mirror caps familiar from
the BMW M2, the M Carbon roof – which comes as standard on the
special-edition model – and CS-specific rear diffusor are also made
from eye-catching exposed carbon fibre. A front splitter in matt black
and an exclusive black BMW M kidney grille with optimised air inlets
complete the sporty and dynamic look. The lightweight CFRP boot lid
with integrated ducktail is a real head-turner. The “M2 CS” logo on
the rear has a red outline. Four colours are available for the
exterior finish of the all-new BMW M2 CS: Sapphire Black metallic, BMW
Individual Velvet Blue metallic, M Brooklyn Grey metallic and M
Portimao Blue metallic. Adaptive LED Headlights with BMW Selective
Beam non-dazzling High Beam Assistant and M lights Shadowline with
dark inlays are also standard.

Carbon and racing flair continue inside.

The interior of the all-new BMW M2 CS combines an exclusive look with
the sporty feel of exquisite Alcantara and innovative lightweight
design. For example, the centre console is made of
carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP). The driver and passenger take
their places in weight-optimised, M Carbon bucket seats with a wide
range of electrically controlled settings and an illuminated “CS”
logo. The integrated head restraints are removable and, thanks to the
option of integrating multi-point harnesses, improve the car’s track
readiness. The surfaces of the seats are finished in Merino leather.

With a flat-bottomed rim, gearshift paddles, a red centre marker at
12 o’clock and two M buttons for selecting individually configured
vehicle setups, the standard M Alcantara steering wheel, which
features a three-spoke design, brings authentic racing flair to the
cockpit. The trim elements in the instrument panel and centre console
come in M Carbon Fibre. Additional specific details include the red
“CS” logo on the centre console, the M seatbelts and the entry door
sill plates, which are black with an “M2 CS” logo and red outline for
the first time. Now illuminated with the “CS” logo, the door trim
panels certainly grab the attention. The colour used here can be set
individually, likewise the standard ambient lighting. When switched
off, a carbon structure is visible. Rounding off the sporty interior
is the M Anthracite headlining.

BMW Operating System 8.5, digital control for the climate functions.

Standard equipment in the all-new BMW M2 CS also includes two-zone
automatic climate control, comfort access, Harman Kardon Surround
Sound System and BMW Live Cockpit Professional, including the BMW Maps
navigation system. As well as the BMW Head-Up Display, it also
includes Augmented View on the control display. The standard
smartphone integration allows the use of Apple CarPlay® and Android
Auto™. The M-specific displays on the BMW Curved Display and BMW
Head-Up Display add to the progressive sports car flair in the
cockpit. The fully-digital display grouping consists of a 12.3-inch
information display and a 14.9-inch control display. These serve as a
platform for the BMW iDrive control and operation system, based on BMW
Operating System 8.5, which can also be used to digitally operate the
climate control functions. In the all-new BMW M2 CS, temperature and
ventilation settings can be controlled either by touch using a special
menu option in the lower area of the control display or by voice
command with the help of the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant.

M-specific operating concept enables direct access for an
extensive range of functions.

The special-edition model carries over the cutting-edge operating
concept for setup customisation from the BMW M2. At the heart is the
Setup button on the centre console. This provides direct access to the
settings options for the engine, standard adaptive M suspension, M
Servotronic steering, integrated braking system working in conjunction
with the M Compound brakes, and the M Traction Control function, which
allows drivers to set individual intervention thresholds for wheel
slip limitation. M Drive Professional makes an ideal companion for
journeys fuelled by extra adrenaline. The M mode TRACK and the
ten-stage M Traction Control allow customised handling
characteristics. The M Drift Analyser shows the angle and duration of
drifts executed by the driver, while the M Laptimer is ideal for those
striving for the perfect lap.

Semi-automated driving and parking systems fitted as standard include
Driving Assistant with front collision warning and brake intervention,
Cruise Control with brake function, Speed Limit Info function with
no-overtaking indicator, Lane Departure Warning, and the Parking
Assistant with Reversing Assistant.

Singapore. BMW Asia today announced the availability
of the new BMW M2, a car that raises the bar for compact
high-performance sports cars in the premium segment with even more
power, greater visual impact than ever, and innovative equipment
features. Front and centre of this fresh round of updates to the car
is the 15 kW/20 hp added to its output: the high-revving six-cylinder
in-line petrol engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology now tops out
at 353 kW/480 hp. And then there are the new design accents for the
exterior, an updated interior, and the introduction of BMW Operating
System 8.5 to underpin the latest generation of BMW iDrive.

“If you are looking for unparalleled performance and driving
dynamics, look no further,” said Lars Nielsen, Managing Director, BMW
Group Asia. “That is exactly what you will find behind the wheel of
the new BMW M2. For enthusiasts who are keen on this icon’s rich
heritage, we have something special for them – the new BMW M2 Purist
Edition with a six-speed manual gearbox. It pays homage to the purity
of the BMW M brand. I am confident that the new BMW M2 will thrill our
customers on the roads in Singapore and beyond.”

The package of updates for the elite compact sports car makes the
first step into the world of high-performance models at BMW M GmbH
even more attractive. The new BMW M2 takes its drive concept of a
straight-six engine, six-speed manual gearbox (in the new BMW M2
Purist Edition) and classical rear-wheel drive – a unique proposition
among its rivals – to a new stage of evolution. In combination with
its compact dimensions, chassis technology tuned perfectly for both
everyday road driving and track use, and a state-of-the-art operating
concept allowing individualisation of the car setup, this makes the
new BMW M2 ideally equipped to write the next chapter in the BMW M
brand’s history of success in this segment. The new BMW M2 is built
alongside the new BMW 2 Series Coupé at BMW Group Plant San Luis
Potosí in Mexico.

Six-cylinder in-line engine with extra output and torque.

As well as the raw power itself, the inimitable way in which the
six-cylinder in-line engine delivers that power also plays a key role
in the performance experience offered by the new BMW M2. The upgraded
version of the engine for the new edition of the high-performance
sports car shines an even more vivid spotlight on the linear delivery
of power, sustained into the higher reaches of the rev range, that is
such a hallmark feature of M models. Its maximum torque is on tap
across a wide rev band between 2,650 and 6,130 rpm. In the new BMW M2
Purist Edition, peak torque remains at 550 Nm. And when power is
channelled via the standard eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with
Drivelogic, the figure rises to 600 Nm. The engine produces its
increased maximum output of 353 kW/480 hp at 6,250 rpm, with revs
topping out at 7,200 rpm.

So that drivers can explore the engine’s upgraded performance
characteristics with an even greater degree of intensity, further
advances have been made with the accelerator mapping and response in
all the drive modes selectable via the M Setup menu. As a result, the
new BMW M2 offers noticeably more rapid reactions to the driver’s
requests for acceleration – both when specified with the eight-speed M
Steptronic transmission and in the six-speed new BMW M2 Purist Edition
with a manual gearbox.

The ability of the new BMW M2 to offer further improved power
delivery is rooted in an exceptionally strong technological base. Its
3.0-litre engine differs from the unit in the BMW M3/BMW M4 range in a
few details only. The increased peak output figure of the new BMW M2
lends further weight to its leadership claims in the compact
high-performance car segment.

Racing expertise delivers smile-inducing performance.

As well as its pair of mono-scroll turbochargers, an indirect
intercooler and an electronically controlled wastegate, the M
TwinPower Turbo technology of the straight-six engine also includes
High Precision Injection, VALVETRONIC variable valve timing and
Double-VANOS fully variable camshaft timing. The engine also has an
array of details borrowed directly from racing car design and whose
impact is most clearly evident in its lightning-fast response,
appetite for revs and high performance capability in track use. These
details include an extremely rigid crankcase with a sleeve-free,
closed-deck construction, a forged crankshaft with lightweight design,
cylinder bores with a wire-arc sprayed iron coating and a 3D-printed
core for the cylinder head.

The M-specific cooling system ensures the powertrain components
maintain an optimal operating temperature even under heavy loads. The
oil circuit is also designed to handle extremely dynamic driving
situations. A map-controlled oil pump ensures reliable oil supply even
under extreme longitudinal and lateral acceleration.

Drivers keen to blend an intensely engaging performance experience
with even more direct interaction with the powertrain can specify the
six-speed manual gearbox in the new BMW M2 Purist Edition. This links
up with the Gear Shift Assistant, which uses engagement speed control
to ensure slip-free operation when downshifting under braking into corners.

Whichever form of power transfer the customer chooses for their new
BMW M2, the increased engine output shaves 0.1 seconds off its 0 to
100 km/h acceleration time: the new BMW M2 records a figure of 4.0
seconds with the standard transmission or 4.2 seconds if specified
with the six-speed manual gearbox in the new BMW M2 Purist Edition.
The increase in power also makes its presence felt over the 0 to 200
km/h sprint, delivering an improvement of 0.6 seconds in the case of
the new BMW M2 with eight-speed M Steptronic transmission (now 12.9
seconds) and also lowering the time posted by cars with the optional
manual gearbox by 0.6 seconds (to 13.7 seconds). Top speed is 250
km/h, but can be increased to 285 km/h with the optional M Driver’s
Package (standard in the new BMW M2 Purist Edition). The dynamic power
delivery is backed by an emotionally rich engine note conjured by the
M-specific exhaust system with electrically controlled flaps.

Visually impactful exterior design with fresh accents.

Powerfully chiselled surfaces and athletic proportions mark out the
purebred performance character of the new BMW M2, whose compact
dimensions and wide tracks showcase it to visually dramatic effect.
M-specific design features geared to the functional requirements of
cooling air routing and aerodynamic balance accentuate the eyecatching
appearance of the two-door car. A large, horizontal BMW kidney grille
and the three-section split lower air intake optimise cooling of the
powertrain components and brakes.

The model-specific LED headlights are positioned towards the outer
edges of the front end. In a tribute to the iconic BMW 02 models, they
each have a single circular headlight that generates both low beam and
high beam. U-shaped light guides at the lower edge of the headlights
serve as both the daytime driving lights and turn indicators.
Available as standard are Adaptive LED Headlights with BMW Selective
Beam non-dazzling High Beam Assistant and M lights Shadowline with
dark inlays.

The high-performance model’s profile is shaped by the elegant lines
which have become a signature feature of the brand’s coupés. In
combination with prominent side sill extensions and muscular wheel
arches, this creates a compact two-door form with a richly sporting
character. The new BMW M2 comes with an M Carbon roof that not only
reduces the car’s weight by around six kilograms, but also increases
agility by lowering its centre of gravity.

The rear apron of the new BMW M2 features a powerfully sculpted

the purist, the new BMW M2 (fuel consumption, combined: 9.8 – 9.6 l/
100 km [28.8 – 29.4 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions, combined:
223 – 218 g/km in the WLTP cycle, CO2 class: G) raises the
bar for compact high-performance sports cars in the premium segment.
Indeed, it elevates the performance experience in this vehicle class
to a whole new level. The new BMW M2 lines up with even more power,
greater visual impact than ever and innovative equipment features.
Front and centre of this fresh round of updates to the car is the
15 kW/20 hp added to its output: the high-revving six-cylinder in-line
petrol engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology now tops out at
353 kW/480 hp. And then there are the new design accents for the
exterior, an updated interior and the introduction of BMW Operating
System 8.5 to underpin the latest generation of BMW iDrive.

The package of updates for the elite compact sports car makes the
first step into the world of high-performance models at BMW M GmbH
even more attractive. The new BMW M2 takes its drive concept of a
straight-six engine, six-speed manual gearbox (optional) and classical
rear-wheel drive – a unique proposition among its rivals – to a new
stage of evolution. In combination with its compact dimensions,
chassis technology tuned perfectly for both everyday road driving and
track use, and a state-of-the-art operating concept allowing
individualisation of the car setup, this makes the new M2 ideally
equipped to write the next chapter in the BMW M brand’s history of
success in this segment.

The new BMW M2 will be built alongside the new BMW 2 Series Coupé at
BMW Group Plant San Luis Potosí in Mexico. It will be launched
worldwide with a production phase-in from August 2024. More than
40 per cent of total sales will be recorded in Europe. The most
important single market will be the USA, followed by Germany, China,
Great Britain and Japan.

In examples of the
new BMW M2 with the optional six-speed manual gearbox (fuel
consumption, combined: 10.2 – 10.0 l/ 100 km [27.7 – 28.2 mpg imp];
CO2 emissions, combined: 231 – 226 g/km in the WLTP cycle,
CO2 class: G), peak torque remains 550 Nm (405 lb-ft). And
when power is channelled via the standard eight-speed M Steptronic
transmission with Drivelogic, the figure rises to 600 Nm (442 lb-ft).
The engine produces its increased maximum output of 353 kW/480 hp at
6,250 rpm, with revs topping out at 7,200 rpm.

Steptronic transmission and with the optional six-speed manual gearbox.

In addition, it now achieves parity with
the manual variants of the new BMW M3 Sedan (fuel consumption,
combined: 10.1 – 10.0 l/ 100 km [28.0 – 28.3 mpg imp]; CO2
emissions, combined: 230 – 227 g/km in the WLTP cycle, CO2
class: G) and new BMW M4 Coupé (fuel consumption, combined: 10.1 –
10.0 l/100 km [28.0 – 28.3 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions,
combined: 230 – 226 g/km in the WLTP cycle, CO2 class: G).

The engine sends its drive power through an eight-speed M Steptronic
transmission with Drivelogic as standard. The Drivelogic button
integrated into the selector lever makes it possible to alter the
transmission’s shift characteristics, with a choice of three clearly
distinguishable settings. Both the selector lever in the latest
M design and the gearshift paddles on the steering wheel enable
sequential interventions in the gear selection process at any time.

Drivers keen to blend an intensely engaging performance experience
with even more direct interaction with the powertrain can specify the
six-speed manual gearbox as an option. This links up with the Gear
Shift Assistant, which uses engagement speed control to ensure
slip-free operation when downshifting under braking into corners.

Whichever form of power transfer the customer chooses for their
BMW M2, the increased engine output shaves 0.1 seconds off its 0 to
100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration time: the new BMW M2 records a figure
of 4.0 seconds with the standard transmission or 4.2 seconds if
specified with the optional six-speed manual gearbox. The increase in
power also makes its presence felt over the 0 to 200 km/h (124 mph)
sprint, delivering an improvement of 0.6 seconds in the case of the
BMW M2 with eight-speed M Steptronic transmission (now 12.9 seconds)
and also lowering the time posted by cars with the optional manual
gearbox by 0.6 seconds (to 13.7 seconds). Top speed is 250 km/h (155
mph), but can be increased to 285 km/h (177 mph) with the optional M
Driver’s Package. The dynamic power delivery is backed by an
emotionally rich engine note conjured by the M-specific exhaust system
with electrically controlled flaps.

Visually impactful exterior design with fresh accents.

Powerfully chiselled surfaces and athletic proportions mark out the
pure-bred performance character of the new BMW M2, whose compact
dimensions and wide tracks showcase it to visually dramatic effect.
M-specific design features geared to the functional requirements
of cooling air routing and aerodynamic balance accentuate the
eye-catching appearance of the two-door car. A large, horizontal
BMW kidney grille and the three-section split lower air intake
optimise cooling of the powertrain components and brakes.

Available as options are Adaptive LED Headlights with BMW Selective
Beam non-dazzling High Beam Assistant and M lights Shadowline with
dark inlays.

The high-performance model’s profile is shaped by the elegant lines
which have become a signature feature of the brand’s coupés. In
combination with prominent side sill extensions and muscular wheel
arches, this creates a compact two-door form with a richly sporting
character. The new BMW M2 can also be ordered as an option with an
M Carbon roof that not only reduces the car’s weight by around six
kilograms, but also increases agility by lowering its centre of gravity.

The rear apron of the new BMW M2 features a powerfully sculpted
race-car-style diffuser. The exhaust system feeds into two pairs of
exhaust tailpipes, which are positioned a significant distance from
the edges of the rear end and also channel the racing genes of the M2
visually. The trims for the twin tailpipes are now finished in black
as standard. The likewise black model lettering on the boot lid and
radiator grille creates a particularly classy impression with its
silver-coloured bordering.

Significantly expanded range of exterior paint finishes;
light-alloy wheels with a new design.

Customers can order their new BMW M2 in a choice of three solid
colours, five metallic shades and six BMW Individual paint finishes.
The significantly expanded range includes the new Sao Paulo Yellow
solid, Fire Red metallic, Portimao Blue metallic and Skyscraper Grey
metallic variants. Plus, the selection of BMW Individual paint
finishes for the new BMW M2 now also features Java Green, Voodoo Blue,
Grigio Telesto and Twilight Purple.

The new BMW M2 is fitted as standard with M light-alloy wheels in
double-spoke design and with a Jet Black finish. Dimensions are
19 inches at the front axle and 20 inches at the rear axle. A new
addition to the options list are M light-alloy wheels in double-spoke
design and with the same dimensions, but finished in the colour
Silver. They can be combined with track tyres if the optional M Race
Track package is specified.

New steering wheels and seat surfaces, M Carbon bucket seats
now also available as an individual option.

The most important interface between the driver and car – the
steering wheel – has been newly designed, bringing a fresh look to the
interior of the compact high-performance model. The standard-fitted
M leather steering wheel of the new BMW M2 now has a flat-bottomed rim
and precisely modified spokes. A red centre marker in the 12 o’clock
position, gearshift paddles and the two M buttons for selecting
individually configured vehicle setups project an intense racing car
feel. An M Alcantara steering wheel is now also available as an option
in the same design. A heating function is offered as an option for
both steering wheel variants.

The optional M Sport seats in Vernasca leather can now also be
ordered in a red/black bi-colour variant. Added to which, the
weight-minimized M Carbon bucket seats for the new BMW M2 are not only
available in conjunction with the M Race Track package, but now also
as an individual option. With surfaces in Merino leather, multi-way
electric adjustment, removable head restraints and a facility for
adding a multi-point harness, they optimise both the car’s comfort
levels and its racing credentials.

BMW Operating System 8.5, digital control for the climate functions.

The M-specific content in the BMW Curved Display and optional BMW
Head-Up Display enhances the cockpit’s progressive sports car aura.
The fully digital screen grouping, made up of a 12.3-inch information
display and a 14.9-inch control display, now provides the stage for
the latest evolution of the BMW iDrive control/operation system based
on BMW Operating System 8.5. The functions of the climate control
system are now also operated digitally. The temperature and
ventilation settings as well as the seat heating and – if specified –
steering wheel heating in the new BMW M2 can be controlled either by
touch using a special menu option in the lower area of the control
display or by voice command with the help of the BMW Intelligent
Personal Assistant.

This broad adoption of digitalisation leads to a further reduction in
the number of buttons and controls in the cockpit and is accompanied
by a redesign of the instrument panel. New adjustment controls for the
air vent grilles in the centre of the instrument panel and on the
driver’s and front passenger side of the cockpit allow the airflow
direction to be adjusted using rotating and tilting movements.

The interior trim elements in the instrument panel and centre console
of the new BMW M2 come as standard in Dark Graphite matt. Interior
trim elements in Aluminium Rhombicle Anthracite, M Carbon Fibre or new
Fine Brushed Aluminium are available as an option.

M-specific operating concept, extensive standard equipment.

At the heart of the M-specific operating concept is the Setup button
on the centre console. This provides direct access to the settings
options for the engine, the standard adaptive M suspension, the
M Servotronic steering, the integrated braking system working in
conjunction with the M Compound brakes, and the M Traction Control
function, which allows drivers to set individual intervention
thresholds for wheel slip limitation. The Gear Shift Assistant of the
optional manual gearbox is also activated and deactivated via the
M Setup menu.

Standard equipment for the new BMW M2 also includes three-zone
automatic climate control, ambient lighting, a HiFi speaker system, a
wireless charging tray and the BMW Live Cockpit Plus with BMW Maps
navigation system. The likewise standard smartphone integration
enables use of Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™. Semi-automated
driving and parking systems that come as standard include front
collision warning, Cruise Control with brake function, Speed Limit
Info function with no-overtaking indicator, Lane Departure Warning and
Park Distance Control with sensors at the front and rear of the car.
Among the optional items available are the Driving Assistant, Active
Cruise Control with Stop&Go function and the Parking Assistant
with Reversing Assistant.

Also on the options list are Comfort Access, an electrically operated
slide/tilt sunroof and the Harman Kardon Surround Sound System. As
well as the BMW Head-Up Display, the optional BMW Live Cockpit
Professional in the new BMW M2 now also includes Augmented View on the
control display.

Press Contact: Kimberley Ng
Tel: +6568389532
E-mail: kimberley.ng@ctt.yespaygroup.com

Press Kit,M2,G87,Product,BMW M

Singapore. BMW Asia today announced the launch of the
all-new BMW M2 in Singapore, a sports coupé that embodies an
unadulterated racing passion that owners can enjoy day in and day out.

“The M2 is the entry point into the world of BMW M high-performance
sports cars,” said Mr. Lars Nielsen, Managing Director of BMW Asia.
“This sports coupé encapsulates the joy of driving in its purest form.
While the BMW M2 is available today with an 8-speed automatic
transmission, there will also be an exclusive limited run with a
6-speed manual transmission in the coming months! No matter which
version you go for, the BMW M2 offers compact dimensions, rear-wheel
drive, and a wealth of M-specific details that is sure to delight all drivers.”

The second-generation BMW M2 excites and delights with the skillset
of a classical high-performance car with fresh intensity and
cutting-edge technology. Thanks to its powertrain technology, chassis
configuration, as well as supreme aerodynamic balance, the new BMW M2
continues the brand’s tradition of ultra-sporty models with compact
dimensions that began in 1973 with the arrival of the BMW 2002 turbo.

Compact dimensions, extremely powerful proportions.

The athletic appearance of the new BMW M2 stems from its compact
dimensions, extremely powerful proportions, and hallmark M design
features. Measuring 4,580 mm from nose to tail, including a width of
1,887 mm and a height of 1,403 mm, the new BMW M2 clocks in at 214 mm
less in exterior length than the BMW M4 Coupé. Its wheelbase of 2,747
mm makes a particularly prominent contribution to its agility. At the
same time, the vehicle and track widths exactly match the BMW M4 Coupé
(1,617 mm at the front and 1,605 mm at the rear), far exceeding the
figures for the new BMW 2 Series Coupé.

The boldly contoured headlights on the BMW M2 each feature a single
circular adaptive LED headlight, a design element paying homage to the
legendary BMW 02 models. A large, frameless BMW kidney grille with its
horizontal bars accompanies a three-section lower air intake with
almost rectangular contours to give the front end of the car a
familiar M look. This design has been crafted around technical
requirements in terms of cooling air supply and aerodynamic balance.

Clean and clear surfaces, muscular side skirts, and flared wheel
arches set the tone for the side view. The car’s silhouette is shaped
by its long bonnet, short overhangs, and set-back passenger
compartment. The roofline swooping down dynamically from the B-pillar,
as well as the short boot lid culminating in a pronounced spoiler lip,
complete the image of a compact BMW coupé with a dialled up sporting
appeal. Adding form to function is the standard-fit M Carbon roof –
this extremely lightweight high-tech material reduces the vehicle’s
centre of gravity, further enhancing its handling agility.

Horizontally pronounced surfaces give the rear end of the new BMW M2
its structure. It features a number of individual touches such as an
eye-catching spoiler lip on the boot lid, vertically arranged
reflectors set deep into the outer edges of the rear apron, and a rear
spoiler lip designed to generate additional downforce at the rear
axle. The rear apron’s diffuser insert features a puristic design,
reaching a long way towards the road. Quadruple exhaust tailpipes
positioned a long way in from the outer edges complete the signature M
visual treatment.

The choice of five exterior paint finishes available for the new BMW
M2 includes the Zandvoort Blue solid and Toronto Red metallic shades
exclusive to this model. Standard specification of the new BMW M2
includes staggered M light-alloy wheels measuring 19 inches at the
front and 20 inches at the rear, imbuing the M2 with agile performance
attributes. These are shod with tyres measuring 275/35 ZR19 and 285/30
ZR20 at the front and rear respectively.

Six-cylinder in-line engine with instantaneous power delivery
and a thrilling appetite for revs.

The version of the straight-six engine developed for the compact
high-performance model with M TwinPower Turbo technology and
high-revving design stands out with its M-typical performance
characteristics. Differing only in a small number of details from the
engine employed in the BMW M3 and BMW M4 models, the 3.0-litre unit
thrills with its urgent response, healthy appetite for revs, and
linear power delivery into the highest reaches of the engine speed range.

Developing a maximum output of 460 hp, the engine under the bonnet of
the new BMW M2 outguns the base unit used by its predecessor by 90 hp.
Peak torque of 550 Nm is produced between 2,650 and 5,870 rpm with
maximum output arriving at 6,250 rpm. The new engine revs to a maximum
7,200 rpm. The pulsating build-up of power is accompanied by an
emotionally rich soundtrack generated by the M-specific exhaust system
with electrically controlled flaps. The oil supply system is designed
to handle extremely dynamic driving situations when out on the track,
as is the cooling system.

The engine’s power is relayed to the rear wheels via an eight-speed M
Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic as standard. Its extremely
sporty gear shifts, direct connection to the engine, and ability to
execute multiple downshifts to the lowest available gear form the
ideal basis for beguiling, instantaneous acceleration. It is operated
by means of a selector lever sporting the latest M design, as well as
shift paddles on the steering wheel. The Drivelogic function offers a
choice of three shift settings.

The new BMW M2 completes the sprint to 100 km/h from rest in a
blistering 4.1 seconds with the eight-speed M Steptronic transmission.
It is capable of powering from 0 to 200 km/h in 13.5 seconds, and tops
out at 250 km/h (electronically controlled). Should drivers opt for
the M Driver’s Package, the top speed limit is unlocked to 285 km/h.

Rear-wheel drive, M Traction Control, and Active M
Differential provide agility, precision and driving pleasure as the
occasion demands.

By sending power to the rear wheels, the new BMW M2 embraces the
traditional recipe for converting engine output into dynamic
performance. The linear build-up of lateral acceleration forces
characteristic of M models helps the driver to guide the car through
corners with controlled drifts, for example. The standard M Traction
Control function is also designed to allow the driver to carefully
probe the vehicle’s performance limits by setting individual
intervention thresholds for wheel slip limitation, with a choice of
ten stages.

Another contributor to the sublime dynamics of the BMW M2 is the
standard-fit Active M Differential at the rear axle. It can halt
rotational speed compensation between the rear wheels whenever
required, and seamlessly generate a locking effect of up to 100 per
cent whenever required. This optimises traction on road surfaces
offering different levels of adhesion for the left- and right-hand
rear wheel, as well as improving power transfer when accelerating hard
out of corners.

Sophisticated chassis technology, precisely controllable handling.

The new BMW M2 serves up exceptionally sharp responses to every
movement of the accelerator and steering wheel. Its compact
dimensions, short wheelbase, almost perfectly balanced 50:50 weight
distribution, and sophisticated chassis technology combine to deliver
precisely controllable, fingertip handling. The car’s agility,
dynamism and precision also gain from the excellent torsional
stiffness of the body structure and chassis mountings helped by
bespoke bracing.

Both the double-joint spring strut front axle and the five-link rear
axle come with M-specific kinematics. The standard equipment roster
for the new BMW M2 includes adaptive M suspension with electronically
controlled dampers, M Servotronic steering with variable ratio, and
DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) including M Dynamic Mode. Drivers can
choose between two settings for steering response in the M Setup menu:
the Comfort mode combines a light steering feel with precise feedback,
and the Sport setting brings to fore a more communicative steering.
This requires more force to turn the wheel for maximum precision when
exploring the outer reaches of the car’s dynamic repertoire.

The BMW M2 is fitted with powerful M Compound brakes featuring
six-piston, fixed-calliper brakes at the front and single-piston,
floating-calliper brakes at the rear. These are painted in Red
high-gloss. The integrated braking system brings together the brake
activation, brake booster, and braking control functions into a
compact module. It presents the driver with two pedal feel settings,
allowing the choice between more comfort-oriented or very direct
execution of brake pedal inputs.

Advanced sports car cockpit with BMW Curved Display as
standard and the option of M Carbon bucket seats.

The driver and front passenger are welcomed by M sport seats with
integral head restraints and perforated surfaces in a mix of Vernasca
leather and Sensatec. For those desiring a further touch of racing
flair, they can opt for M Carbon bucket seats – these feature carbon
fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) in the structural elements of the seat
cushion and backrest. The bucket seats have cut-outs in the side
bolsters and below the head restraints, thereby shaving around 10.8
kilograms off the vehicle’s weight. On all seats, the Easy-Entry
function slides the front seats forward in a controlled movement when
the backrests are folded, making it easier for passengers to access
the rear compartment. When the backrest is upright, the new BMW M2
offers 390 litres of boot space.

The new BMW M2 boasts a driver-centric cockpit featuring M-specific
readouts and controls plus setup options. On the advanced BMW Curved
Display, driving-related information including Shift Lights appears in
a new graphical layout on the 12.3-inch information display.
M-specific widgets for vehicle setup and tyre condition are just two
of the items that can be called up in the 14.9-inch control display.
The BMW Head-Up Display also features M-specific readouts.

Both the BMW Curved Display and the BMW Intelligent Personal
Assistant form part of the latest-generation BMW iDrive. Based on BMW
Operating System 8, it has been purpose-designed for intuitive
interaction between driver and vehicle using touch control and the
spoken word. The new BMW iDrive system enables personalisation with
the BMW ID and My BMW App, and smartphone wireless integration for
Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ is likewise included as standard. The
BMW ConnectedDrive Upgrades functionality allows new and improved
vehicle functions to be imported into the new BMW M2 over the air.

Three-zone automatic climate control, BMW Maps navigation
system, Setup button and M Drive Professional as standard.

The comfort features fitted as standard in the new BMW M2 include
three-zone automatic climate control, BMW Live Cockpit Professional
complete with the BMW Maps navigation system, ambient lighting, and
the Harman Kardon Surround Sound System. When it comes to automated
driving and parking systems, the standard-fit Driving Assistant offers
Front Collision Warning, Speed Limit Display with no-overtaking
indicator, Lane Departure Warning, and Park Distance Control
functions. The Parking Assistant including Reversing Assistant
features are similarly standard offers in Singapore.

The Setup button on the centre console provides direct access to the
settings options for the engine, chassis, steering, braking system,
and M Traction Control. Two overall vehicle setups can be stored and
then retrieved using the M buttons on the steering wheel. The
inclusion of M Drive Professional as standard allows drivers to hone
their skills at the wheel of the new BMW M2 with functions such as the
M Drift Analyser and M Laptimer while revelling in authentic racing
flair. In addition, the M Mode button on the centre console can be
used to adjust both the level of driver assistance system activity and
the content shown in the information display.

The all-new BMW M2 is now available for viewing at all authorised BMW
dealers in Singapore.

Singapore. BMW Asia and Performance Munich Autos
announced that the new BMW M2 CS has arrived in Singapore. The new
high-performance BMW M2 CS is an exclusive and limited-run
special-edition model – with an eye-catchingly sporting appearance –
in the premium compact class for the first time. It sits above the BMW
M2 Competition in the line-up and builds on the success already
achieved by the BMW M3 CS and BMW M4 CS. It also provides an immensely
capable basis for the BMW M2 CS Racing model, BMW M Motorsport’s new
entry point to amateur racing and the new Clubsport segment.

Striking design with extensive use of carbon fibre.

An array of design elements made from carbon fibre-reinforced plastic
(CFRP) ensure the new BMW M2 CS cuts an even sharper figure than the
BMW M2 Competition. They include the newly designed bonnet, a roof
made entirely from CFRP (a first for the BMW M2), the new front
splitter, the Gurney – a spoiler lip on the boot lid – and a rear
diffuser in exposed carbon fibre.

The new BMW M2 CS sets new standards in its segment for acceleration,
dynamic flair, precision and agility, and provides a new,
emotion-stirring entry point to the BMW M GmbH product range.
Alongside its outstanding track performance, the new BMW M2 CS also
makes a convincing impression with its unrestricted everyday usability
and the Misano Blue metallic paint finish – a colour that was
previously not available on the BMW M2 Competition.

Power boost to 450 hp and Adaptive M suspension.

The twin-turbo six-cylinder in-line engine develops output of 450 hp,
up 40 hp on that of the BMW M2 Competition. The engine’s power is
transferred to the road or race track by Adaptive M suspension –
hitherto the preserve of the M4 models.

Adaptive M suspension allows the driver to alter the damper settings
through Comfort, Sport and Sport+ modes. While Comfort optimises ride
comfort in daily use around town, Sport ensures particularly dynamic
progress on cross-country roads, for example. Sport+ (the hardest
mode) minimises body movements and maximises dynamic sharpness for top
performance on the track.

M Sport brakes draw on motor sport know-how.

The experience of BMW M GmbH in race competition is clearly reflected
in the standard-fitted M Sport brakes with red-painted brake
callipers. They include larger brake discs than the M compound brakes
of the BMW M2 Competition (front axle: 400 mm diameter, rear axle: 380
mm diameter) and larger callipers (front axle: six-piston fixed
callipers, rear axle: four-piston fixed callipers). This top-class
system delivers exceptional braking performance with excellent
stopping power in all conditions, strong fade resistance and
considerable thermal stability.

Credit for the car’s sharp and agile handling goes to elements such
as the CFRP high-precision strut brace, which increases the rigidity
of the front-end structure, and the extremely accurate DSC (Dynamic
Stability Control) system. The latter offers generous levels of
traction in wet conditions and when wheel slip becomes a factor, and
prevents a sudden breakaway of traction mid-drift.

Lending a helping hand here is the Active M Differential, an
electronically controlled multi-plate locking mechanism which responds
with exceptional precision and speed to optimise traction and
directional stability – and which even works proactively in certain
situations. When ragged-edge track driving is the order of the day,
for example, the selectable M Dynamic Mode (MDM) – a sub-function of
DSC – allows a greater degree of wheel slip and increases the freedom
available to drivers at the dynamic limit. More significant oversteer
and understeer are possible, as are moderate, controlled drifts.

Impressive performance figures.

The new BMW M2 CS racks up some impressive performance stats. When
fitted with the seven-speed M double-clutch transmission (M DCT), it
sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.0 seconds. With the six-speed manual
gearbox – offered for the first time in a BMW CS model and very much
in tune with the desires of M2 target customers – the figure is 4.2
seconds. The top speed of the M Driver’s Package equipped special
edition is capped electronically at 280 km/h. An additional cover for
the oil sump, an additional oil scavenge pump and a sophisticated oil
return system near the turbocharger maintain stable oil circulation in
both everyday use and hard driving on the track. The engine’s
increased appetite for cooling air is reflected among other things in
the design of the bonnet, whose integrated air vent helps to expel hot
air more effectively. The exhaust system – which represents an upgrade
on the BMW M2 Competition’s both visually and aurally – has a
dual-branch design and sports the quad tailpipes familiar to BMW M
fans. Two electrically controlled flaps ensure that the new BMW M2 CS
develops an engine note fitting the BMW M profile. And the driver can
make further adjustments to the soundtrack through their choice of M
Engine Dynamics Control driving mode and using direct selection
buttons on the centre console.

Focused and sophisticated interior.

The cabin of the new BMW M2 CS combines an exclusive, pure-bred
appearance with the sporting feel of classy Alcantara and innovative
lightweight design. For example, the centre console is made entirely
of lightweight carbon fibre, and CFRP is also used for the door pulls
and trim. The ultra-light M Sport seats from the BMW M4 CS add another
ergonomic and visual highlight. With their bucket-style construction,
these Merino leather and Alcantara covered seats with red contrast
stitching represent a clear nod to the race track and ensure
unshakable lateral support even in competitive track driving.

The M Sport steering wheel with exclusive Alcantara covering and a
red centre marker likewise feeds into the motor sport theme. Alcantara
is also used for the armrest in the centre console and a trim strip on

Singapore. BMW Asia and Performance Munich Autos
today launched the new BMW M2 Competition, a car that sets fresh
benchmarks in the compact high-performance sports car segment and adds
marked refinement to the character of the BMW M2 Coupé.

Drivetrain.

The double-charged six-cylinder in-line engine, based on the power
unit from the M3 and M4, offers the best of both worlds: it guarantees
a unique appetite for revs for a turbocharged engine, offers
exceptionally linear power delivery across a broad rev range and
possesses a distinctive engine sound. M TwinPower Turbo technology
provides unbeatable torque, available across a wide rev band. The
engine also boasts outstanding efficiency.

The engine in the compact coupé delivers 410 hp between 5,250 and
7,000 rpm; peak torque of 550 Nm is on tap between 2,350 and 5,200
rpm. This allows the new BMW M2 Competition to complete a standard
sprint, from a standstill to 100 km/h, in 4.2 seconds with M DCT. The
top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h. The car can be
combined with the M Driver’s Package to raise this to 280 km/h – 10
km/h more than with the BMW M2 Coupé.

Rapid response behaviour thanks to M TwinPower Turbo technology.

BMW M TwinPower Turbo technology consists of two rapid-response
MonoScroll turbochargers, High Precision Injection, VALVETRONIC
variable valve control and Double-VANOS variable camshaft timing. The
valve and camshaft timing work in tandem for maximum variability of
the control intakevalve lift. Razor-sharp responses and optimal power
delivery are the result.

Fuel consumption and exhaust emissions are also reduced. A ‘closed
deck’ design increases crankcase rigidity for the six-cylinder engine
and allows cylinder pressures to be increased for maximised power
output. Brushless, LDS-coated cylinder bores also lead to a
significant reduction in weight.

Experience from motorsport.

Maintaining consistent levels of oil supply is particularly
challenging on the racetrack, thanks to the extremely dynamic
performance of the new BMW M2 Competition. This is where the extensive
motor racing experience at BMW M GmbH has the chance to shine through.
For example, an additional oil sump cover helps to limit the movement
of lubricants when the car suddenly changes direction. Under extreme
longitudinal acceleration and deceleration, an oil extraction pump and
a sophisticated oil return system situated close to the turbocharger
likewise help to maintain uninterrupted oil circulation. Oil is
therefore supplied continuously to all engine components in all
driving situations – whether in everyday motoring or during hard
driving on the track.

The new BMW M2 Competition features a range of measures designed to
deal with the increased cooling requirements, compared with the
engines in previous models. An enlarged BMW kidney and a new front
skirt with modified air flow improve the flow for the front of the
car. The car also makes use of the race-tested cooling system of the
BMW M4 with the Competition Package, consisting of one central
radiator, two side radiators and an additional engine oil cooler. Cars
making use of the seven-speed M Double Clutch Transmission (M DCT)
also feature a transmission oil cooler. This elaborate system ensures
that ideal operating temperatures are maintained on short city
journeys during everyday use, as well as out on the racetrack.

Dual exhaust system with two electrically-controlled flaps.

In addition to the new engine, the new BMW M2 Competition also boasts
a completely new exhaust system. The dual-branch design features a new
muffler and the four tailpipes, finished in black chrome, mark it out
as a BMW M model. Two electrically-controlled flaps ensure that the
BMW M2 Competition delivers the distinctive BMW M Sound, which the
driver can adjust by selecting a driving mode with M Dynamic
Performance Control– by pressing a selector switch on the centre console.

Choice of two transmission variants.

The new BMW M2 Competition stands out with its compact design and low
weight. The use of a new type of carbon-fibre friction lining enhances
shift comfort. An engagement speed control function, which blips the
throttle on downshifts and lowers the engine’s revs on upshifts, makes
gear changes even smoother. This also lends the car additional
stability during hard driving on the track. Switching off the DSC
deactivates the engagement speed control function. Wet-sump
lubrication prevents any sloshing of the transmission oil and ensures
all components benefit from an efficient supply of oil.

The standard seven-speed M Double Clutch Transmission (M DCT with
Drivelogic) effectively combines two gearboxes, each with its own
clutch, and enables either extremely fast gear changes with no
interruption in the flow of power or ultra-smooth shifts. The driver
can change gear either in automated mode or manually using the
gearshift lever on the centre console or shift paddles on the M
leather steering wheel. Even in automatic mode, the driver can then
adjust the timing of the gearshift, its intensity, and the automatic
throttle blipping function on downshifts. A choice between
preconfigured driving programs - COMFORT, SPORT and SPORT+ - can be
activated through the Driving Experience Control switch in both
automatic and manual modes.

The M1 and M2 buttons on the steering wheel provide direct access to
the range of personalised driving modes. Drivers can save their own
personal configurations chosen from the settings for stability
control, engine characteristics and steering - control over the
personality of the BMW M2 Competition is at their fingertips.

Moving between the transmission’s manual modes alters the shift
dynamics, but it is the driver who determines the timing of a gear
change. The system detects which gear the driver will choose next on
the basis of the engine revs, the accelerator position, the level of
acceleration and the driving mode, and engages it before the driver
has actually moved the shift paddle. As a result, the clutches now
only need to open or close for the gear-change process to be
completed. The change of gear is therefore executed in fractions of a second.

Dynamic performance.

The BMW M2 Coupé has already set the standard in its segment when it
comes to agility, driving feeling, directional stability, steering
precision and controllability at the limit, without short changing the
driver in everyday use. These chassis characteristics have been
further refined for the new BMW M2 Competition, and adjusted to take
the increased engine performance into account.

Increased front-end rigidity for greater steering precision.

The engine compartment conceals the most striking component: the CFRP
high-precision strut from the BMW M3/M4. This one-piece component is
made from extremely light, yet high-strength, carbon fibre and weighs
in at just 1.5 kg. Together with the bulkhead strut from the M4, it
significantly increases front section rigidity to improve steering
behaviour and precision.

The high-performance chassis refers back to the lightweight aluminium
construction of the front and rear axles from the BMW M3/M4. In order
to ensure extremely precise wheel location, play-free ball joints are
used to transmit transverse forces. The longitudinal forces passing
through the chassis are transmitted into the torque struts directly
via special elastomer bearings, which simultaneously delivers the
desired rolling comfort. All the control arms and wheel carriers of
the new five-link rear axle are made from forged aluminium. In
addition, a racing-derived rigid connection, dispensing with rubber
bushings, is used to fix the lightweight steel grid-type rear axle
subframe to the body. This further improves wheel location and
tracking stability.

BMW M engineers have adjusted the characteristic curves of the
electromechanical power steering to improve performance and increase
front section rigidity. The integrated Servotronic function with
M-specific characteristics controls the level of steering assistance
electronically according to the car’s speed and the settings made with
Drivelogic, which allow drivers to adjust power steering assistance at
any time to their personal preferences.

Active M Differential and recalibrated DSC.

The Dynamic Stability Control has been completely recalibrated. In
the new BMW M2 Competition, the electronics exercise even more
delicate control, providing improved traction in wet and slippery
conditions, and ensuring that traction is not interrupted during
drifts. Support is provided by the Active M Differential, an
electronically controlled multi-plate limited-slip differential that
takes traction and directional stability to a new level of precision
and speed. The locking effect can be varied between 0 and 100 percent,
according to the driving situation, and reacts to the car’s steering
angle, accelerator position, brake pressure, engine torque, wheel
speed and yaw rate. The control unit uses this analysis of the driving
situation to detect the threat of traction loss on one side of the car
and calculates the required locking effect, which is engaged by an
electric motor. Full locking power of 2,500 Nm is available within 150
milliseconds. This allows the system to prevent a wheel from spinning
in extreme conditions on slippery road surfaces or when the two rear
wheels are experiencing significant differences in friction coefficient.

In certain situations, the Active M Differential even works
proactively. When pulling away on slippery surfaces, the lock is
closed by a defined percentage even before a wheel can start to spin,
to ensure that both wheels develop equal slip at the same time. The
lock is also closed by the required percentage through
enthusiastically driven corners, according to the levels of lateral
acceleration and drive at work. This prevents the low-traction inside
wheel from starting to turn too quickly. This permanent and infinitely
variable differential control also increases agility, avoids
understeer on the way into corners and improves directional stability
under braking and load changes.

M Dynamic Mode (MDM) is a sub-function of Dynamic Stability Control
(DSC) that can be activated via a short dab on the DSC selector switch
on the centre console. In certain situations – e.g. sporty and dynamic
driving on the race track – it allows a greater degree of wheel spin.
The stabilising measures familiar from DSC mode now intervene later,
increasing the freedom available to drivers at the dynamic limit. The
extra wheel slip enhances traction and therefore propulsion. More
significant oversteer and understeer are possible, as are moderate,
controlled drifts, but the Dynamic Stability Control active safety
aids can still be relied on in critical situations.

M Sport brakes born of motorsport experience.

The high-performance M Sport brakes provide maximum brake performance
and are also a product of the extensive motorsport experience at BMW M
GmbH. Compared to the standard M compound brakes, with brake calipers
painted in a blue metallic finish (front axle: 4-piston fixed caliper,
rear axle: 2-piston fixed caliper) and perforated and inner-vented
brake disc rings (front axle: 380 mm in diameter, rear axle: 370 mm in
diameter) in grey cast iron, the new M Sport brakes have larger brake
pads (front axles: 400 mm in diameter, rear axle: 380 mm in diameter)
and brake calipers (front axles: 6-piston fixed caliper, rear axle:
4-piston fixed caliper), painted grey. These high performance brakes
guarantee excellent deceleration in all conditions and impress with
their resistance to fade and heat.

New forged wheels with two colour options.

The new 19-inch forged wheels are available (front axle: 9J x 19,
rear axle 10J x 19) with the Y-spoke style 788M in a high-sheen
finish, and in two colour options: light high-sheen, or black front
surface. The front tyres in 245/35 ZR 19 format meet the most
demanding requirements in terms of lateral stability, directional
stability, steering feel and steering precision. The rear tyres in
265/35 ZR 19 format deliver optimal traction, lateral stability and
directional stability.

Design

The new design of the front skirt with modified air intake optimizes
the flow of fresh air to the sophisticated cooling system, while
simultaneously improving the visual presence of the car. The enlarged
BMW kidney is painted black, as are the side gills on the front wings.
This colour is mirrored in the new design of the four tailpipes,
making this a striking differentiating feature of the M Competition
models. A dark M Competition Badge graces the rear end of the car. The
new double-arm design of the wing mirrors improves the aerodynamics
and is typically characteristic of the new BMW M2 Competition.

Exclusive paint colour: metallic Hockenheim Silver.

Two new colours have been added to the range of paints available for
the new BMW M2 Competition. The metallic Sunset Orange colour has
already featured on other BMW M Performance Models, but this marks the
debut for the exclusive new metallic Hockenheim Silver paint.

Interior, equipment and ConnectedDrive.

When opening the door of the new BMW M2 Competition, drivers are
greeted by the M2 Competition logo on the sill plate. They can then
settle into the ergonomically and visually outstanding M Sport seat.
The bucket-style shape of the seat borrows heavily from motorsport and
provides drivers with optimum support, while the headrests are
integrated into the seat back rest.

An illuminated M2 logo nestles in the backrest of the M Sport seat.
The seat and the backrest boast black leather upholstery with design
perforations, available in blue or orange. These touches of colour are
also reflected in the leather stitching on seats, armrests and paddle
covers, while Alcantara leather is used to cover the side bolsters.
The orange colour variant is also available now for the standard sport
seat, as an alternative to the blue palette. The classic BMW M stripes
have been woven into the M safety belts and the M-specific stitching
can also be found on the steering wheel.

A glance at the dashboard reveals the Welcome layout for the
instruments, which displays the M2 Competition logo for a few seconds.
A red start / stop button underlines the motorsport heritage of the car.

Selector switches on the centre console.

The new BMW M2 Competition provides drivers with two selector
switches on the centre console that allow direct access to adjust
various characteristics and settings, a feature familiar from other
BMW M models. The switches can be used to directly access various
settings for stability control, for example the three engine
characteristics, or the steering modes. Drivers can also use the
selector switches to adapt the settings they want for various areas
and combine these as they please. They also adjust Dynamic Stability
Control (DSC) – a short dab activates MDM mode, while holding the
switch down longer switches DSC off.

M1 and M2 buttons on the steering wheel.

The M1 and M2 buttons on the steering wheel also provide direct
access to the range of driving modes. Drivers can save their own
personal configurations chosen from the settings for stability
control, engine characteristics and steering - control over the
personality of the new BMW M2 Competition is at their fingertips. The
M1 and M2 steering wheel buttons are preprogrammed with a Comfort and
a Sport program as standard and drivers can return to these settings
at any time.

New equipment details.

The development from the BMW M2 Coupé to the new BMW M2 Competition
has been accompanied by some upgrades to the standard configuration.
The sporty coupé now boasts adaptive LED headlights as standard, Park
Distance Control (PDC) monitors the car’s surroundings and keeps an
eye on what is in front of the car, as well as to the rear.

The extensive range of equipment provided as standard marks the new
BMW M2 Competition out as one of the most dynamic sports cars around.
This includes the lightweight M Sport chassis, the seven-speed M
Double Clutch Transmission (M DCT) with Drivelogic, allowing gear
changes with no interruption in the flow of power. Electromechanical M
Servotronic power steering and the M Dynamic Mode (MDM) for Dynamic
Stability Control are also available ex works, allowing aspiring
racing drivers to easily enjoy controlled drifts on the circuit.
Sports seats, the M leather steering wheel, an M footrest and knee pad
on the centre console and trim strips with surfacing in porous carbon
fibre all adorn the interior.

Customers can also add further individual touches to their car with a
handpicked range of options. The list of options includes highlights
such as the six-speed manual gearbox with throttle blipping function
for the driving enthusiast or the M Driver’s Package, which raises the
limit on the top speed of the new BMW M2 Competition to 280 km/h.

The new BMW M2 Competition.

With the new BMW M2 Competition (combined fuel consumption with
six-speed manual gearbox: 10,0 – 9,9 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions:
228 – 225 g/km*; combined with optional M Double Clutch Transmission
(M DCT): 9,2 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 210 – 209 g/km)*, BMW M
GmbH is setting fresh benchmarks in the compact high-performance
sports car segment and adding marked refinement to the character of
the BMW M2 Coupé.

New engine with 410 HP.

The centrepiece of the new BMW M2 Competition is its new engine,
based on the power unit from the BMW M3 and BMW M4. The double-charged
six-cylinder in-line engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology delivers
410 HP between 5,250 and 7,000 rpm. The engine’s peak torque of 550 Nm
is on tap between 2,350 and 5,200 rpm. The power unit boasts an
insatiable appetite for revs for a turbocharged engine and offers
exceptionally linear power delivery across a broad rev range. A dual
exhaust system with electronic flap control provides the distinctive M
sound, while the M TwinPower Turbo technology delivers outstanding
efficiency. In relevant EU countries, the BMW M2 Competition also
boasts an Otto particulate filter (OPF) to further reduce fine dust pollution.

The new BMW M2 Competition completes a standard sprint, from a
standstill to 100 km/h, in 4.2 seconds (with M DCT, 4.4 seconds with
six-speed manual gearbox). The top speed is electronically limited to
250 km/h. The car can be combined with the M Driver’s Package to raise
the top speed to 280 km/h – 10 km/h more than with the BMW M2 Coupé.
The consumption figures are also noteworthy: with six-speed manual
gearbox, the combined fuel consumption is 10,0 – 9,9 l/100 km, the
combined CO2 emissions are 228 – 225 g/km*. With the optional M Double
Clutch Transmission (M DCT), these numbers decrease to only 9,2 l/100
km 210 – 209 CO2 emissions g/km combined.*

* Fuel consumption figures are provisional (in some cases), based on
the EU test cycle and may vary depending on the tyre format specified.

The cleverly designed oil supply system for the engine is taken
directly from motorsport, while the cooling system from the BMW M4
with Competition Package is also used with some adjustments. The BMW
M2 Competition includes race-ready variants of the oil supply and
cooling systems that have been tested by many years’ experience in
motor racing. An enlarged BMW kidney and a new front skirt with
increased air flow are exterior signs that point to the use of this
improved cooling system. The kidney is finished in high-gloss Shadow
Line black paint as standard. This is also the case for the side gills
on the front wings, and for the redesigned quartet of tailpipes in the
twin exhaust system, with two electrically adjustable valves. The dark
M Competition Badge graces the rear end of the car. The design of the
new double-arm wing mirrors improves the aerodynamics and they are
typically characteristic of the new BMW M2 Competition.

BMW M engineers have also adjusted the driving dynamics of the BMW M2
Competition to take the increased performance into account. The
striking CFRP high-precision strut from the BMW M3/M4 is immediately
noticeable in the engine compartment. This improves front section
rigidity and increases steering precision. The characteristic curves
for the electromechanical power steering, the Active M Differential
and the Dynamic Steering Control (DSC) system have also been adjusted.

Selector switches to adjust settings.

The BMW M2 is the first model to be equipped with selector switches
on the centre console that allow instant control of the
characteristics and settings for the engine, steering and Drivelogic
functions, if M DCT is available. The various configurations can be
combined with one another in whichever way the driver prefers and can
be stored for easy access using the M1 and M2 buttons on the steering
wheel. The standard range of equipment now includes the red start/stop
button, adaptive LED headlights and front Park Distance Control (PDC).

Fascinating new options.

The new, optional M Sport seat is a real highlight in terms of
function and form. The bucket-style shape borrows heavily from
motorsport and provides drivers with optimum support, while the
headrests are integrated into the seat back rest. The backrest also
features an illuminated M2 logo at shoulder height. The black leather
upholstery boasts design perforations in the seat and backrest,
available in blue or orange. The standard sports seats are also
available with black leather upholstery, featuring contrast stitching
in blue or orange.

The many years of motorsport experience at BMW M GmbH are reflected
in the availability of the new M sport brakes, which provide maximum
brake performance thanks to larger brake discs (front axle: 400 mm
diameter, rear axle: 380 mm diameter) and brake calipers painted grey
(front axle: 6-piston fixed caliper, rear axle: 4-piston fixed
caliper). The optional 19-inch forged alloy wheels (front axle: 9J x
19, rear axle: 10J x 19) are also available with the new Y-spoke
design. A new metallic paint colour is also now exclusively available
for the BMW M2 Competition: Hockenheim Silver.

Press Contact: Karyn Tan
Tel: 123
E-mail: karyn.tan@bmwasia.com

Press Release,M2,F87,Product,BMW M

The new BMW M2 Coupe.

High-performance sports machine with intoxicating performance.

A compact high-performance BMW sports car was already causing heads
to turn and hearts to flutter over 40 years ago. Indeed, the BMW 2002
turbo perfectly encapsulated BMW’s resolution to deliver outstanding
dynamics, exceptional agility and optimum car control. As if to
demonstrate in similarly resounding style that this commitment is
alive and well, BMW M GmbH can now unveil the new BMW M2. With its
high-performance six-cylinder in-line engine, rear-wheel-drive
agility, lightweight aluminium M Sport suspension and extrovert
styling, the new BMW M2 Coupe has all the ingredients to deliver the
last word in driving pleasure.

Characteristic M design.

A single glance is all it takes to pick the new BMW M2 Coupe out as a
member of the BMW M family, with its styling also keen to advertise
its dynamic attributes. Inspired by models from the history of BMW in
motor racing, the new M2 Coupe makes no secret of its extraordinary
performance potential. The low front apron with large air intakes,
muscular flanks with characteristic M gills, 19-inch aluminium wheels
in familiar M double-spoke design and low, wide rear with M-specific
twin-tailpipe exhaust system all play impressive roles here. The
time-honoured character of BMW M cars is also present and correct in
the design of the interior. The Alcantara of the door cards and centre
console together with porous carbon fibre creates an ambience of rare
quality and heady sporting ambition further underlined by blue
contrast stitching and M embossing on selected details. Sports seats,
an M sports steering wheel and an M gearshift lever ensure BMW M2
drivers are in perfect command of their car it at all times.

Explosive performance.

The newly developed, three-litre six-cylinder in-line engine in the
new BMW M2 deploys cutting-edge M TwinPower Turbo technology to
develop 272 kW/370 hp at 6,500 rpm (fuel consumption combined: 8.5
l/100 km [33.2 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions combined: 199 g/km)* and, in so
doing, lays down a marker in the high-performance compact sports car
segment. The same applies to power delivery. Peak torque of 465 Nm
(343 lb-ft) can be increased to as much as 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) in short
bursts under over boost.

All of which enables the new BMW M2 Coupe with optional seven-speed M
Double Clutch Transmission (M DCT) and Launch Control to accelerate
from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.3 seconds. Top speed is
electronically limited to 250 km/h (155 mph). Yet, with its M DCT
transmission, fuel consumption of just 7.9 litres* per 100 km (35.8
mpg imp) and CO2 emissions of just 185 g/km*, the car is also keen to
emphasise its outstanding efficiency.

Motor sport expertise.

With the lightweight aluminium front and rear axles from the BMW
M3/M4 models, forged 19-inch aluminium wheels with mixed-size tyres, M
Servotronic steering with two settings and suitably effective M
compound brakes, the new BMW M2 Coupe has raised the bar once again in the

compact high-performance sports car segment when it comes to driving
dynamics. The electronically controlled Active M Differential, which
optimises traction and directional stability, also plays a significant
role here. And even greater driving pleasure is on the cards when the
Dynamic Stability Control system’s M Dynamic Mode (MDM) is activated.
MDM allows wheel slip and therefore moderate, controlled drifts on the track.

Intelligent connectivity when you want it.

The new BMW M2 Coupe comes with an extensive list of standard
equipment in keeping with its performance-focused set-up. The
seven-speed M Double Clutch Transmission (M DCT) with Drivelogic,
available as an option, changes gears with extraordinary speed but no
interruption in the flow of power. A wide selection of driver
assistance systems and mobility services from BMW ConnectedDrive is
also available. The ConnectedDrive Services provide the basis for
extensive vehicle connectivity, and this option also enables the use
of innovative apps, which are integrated seamlessly into the car using
BMW ConnectedDrive technology. For example, the GoPro app allows the
driver to record fast laps of the track with a dashboard-mounted
action camera, using the iDrive Controller and Control Display.
Meanwhile, the driver’s individual style at the wheel can be analysed
as desired with the M Laptimer app. Information on speeds and braking
points can be shared easily via e-mail or Facebook.

From powerful stock.

The new BMW M2 Coupe is not only the direct heir to the successful
BMW 1 Series M Coupe, but also – in its underlying philosophy – a
descendant of the original E30 BMW M3 and the BMW 2002 turbo. The
latter caused a sensation over 40 years ago, embodying the commitment
of what is now BMW M GmbH to outstanding dynamics, unbeatable agility
and optimal car control.

CO2 emission values and the electric power consumption of new
passenger cars is included in the following guideline: “Leitfaden über
Kraftstoffverbrauch, die CO2-Emissionen und den Stromverbrauch neuer
Personenkraftwagen” (Guideline for fuel consumption, CO2 emissions and
