Singapore. BMW Asia today presented the first
series-produced Neue Klasse model. The new-generation BMW iX3 is a
fully electric Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) that gives customers
their first on-the-road taste of a whole new era of Sheer Driving
Pleasure. An all-new design language gives the car a character-rich
appearance that faithfully conveys the technological progress made by
the new model.

With sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology, a
range of up to 805 kilometres and a peak
charging rate of 400 kW, the new BMW iX3 sets new standards
for efficiency and long-distance capability. A new electronics and
software architecture including four “superbrain”
high-performance computers makes the first Neue Klasse
model more intelligent and better equipped for the future than ever.
The “Heart of Joy” drivetrain and driving dynamics
management technology enables unmatched handling dynamism and
precision, while the latest systems for automated driving optimise
symbiotic human-vehicle interaction.

“Today marks the next chapter in our electric journey, one that began
12 years ago with first-ever BMW i3. It reflects our continued
commitment to advancing technology, expanding our electric portfolio,
and understanding the evolving needs of customers in Singapore,” said
Rene Gerhard, Managing Director, BMW Group Asia. “With more than 55%
of new car registrations in Q1 2026 being electric, the shift is
unmistakable. This is a defining moment, driven by growing confidence
in electrification and demand for solutions that deliver reliability,
longevity, and a seamless ownership experience.

“With the arrival of the new BMW iX3, we are redefining mobility for
our customers. It is a fully integrated, holistic offering, where
innovation meets emotion, and progress is experienced behind the
wheel. In a market with many choices, the new BMW iX3 stands apart as
a true driver’s car, delivering substance and capability beyond what
is immediately visible. At BMW, true innovation is never about
surface-level features, it is about the depth of engineering,
precision of driving dynamics, and intelligent technology that
delivers lasting value,” Gerhard added.

A defining element of the digital user experience in the new BMW iX3
is BMW Panoramic iDrive, which elevates intuitive operation and the
driver focus for which the brand is renowned to a new level. And an
all-encompassing sustainability concept reduces the car’s product
carbon footprint over its life cycle by more than 30 per cent compared
to its predecessor. The first Neue Klasse model is built at the newly
constructed BMW Group plant in Debrecen, Hungary.

The new BMW iX3 represents a leap forward in development over its
predecessor of the same name that extends well beyond the reaches of a
conventional model renewal. The advances made in terms of design and
technology create the impression that a complete vehicle generation
has been skipped. For the BMW Group, the launch of the new BMW iX3
also represents a milestone in the transformation process when it
comes to electrification, digitalisation and circularity. Spearheading
the arrival of the Neue Klasse, it offers customers the latest design
and technology innovations, which will shape the brand’s entire model
range moving forwards.

Launch of the new design language: reduced, characterful and timeless.

Major technological advances always offer an opportunity to introduce
more significant design changes. The new BMW iX3 will launch the new
BMW design language, which will be replicated across the whole of the
brand’s model range in due course. This new use of forms provides a
very modern interpretation of BMW’s original and enduring blueprint.
The design is timeless while also capturing the prevailing zeitgeist.
It is reduced to the essence of the BMW brand – and therefore more BMW
than ever. This is why comprehensive design protection has been
registered for the new BMW design language used in the new BMW iX3.

The new BMW iX3 showcases the values and qualities of the Neue Klasse
within the template of an SAV. The first BMW X model of the new
generation is all about interior space and a progressive lifestyle. At
4,782 millimetres in length, 1,895 millimetres wide and 1,635
millimetres tall, the new BMW iX3 has the hallmark proportions of an
SAV. The characteristic two-box design is infused with the rugged
presence of a BMW X model and has precise lines that emphasise all
four wheels. Detail optimisation of the car’s aerodynamics enables a
drag coefficient (Cd) of 0.24.

The load compartment capacity of the new BMW iX3 can be increased
from 520 to a maximum 1,750 litres by folding down the rear seat
backrest elements as required. The additional storage compartment
under the bonnet can hold another 58 litres of cargo.

The upright front end and clearly formed surfaces endows the new BMW
iX3 with considerable presence. The BMW kidneys and twin headlights –
both distinctive BMW design cues – take centre stage visually. The
sculpted BMW kidneys reference the Neue Klasse of the 1960s in their
vertical arrangement. An all-new light signature assumes the role
previously performed by chrome in giving the car an aura of quality
and sophistication. And when viewed from the side, large surfaces
broken up by a small number of precise lines create a character-rich
appearance. Flush glass surfaces and door handles are also features of
the side view. The robust stature of the new BMW iX3 is underscored by
body-colour wheel arches with – in familiar BMW X model style – subtly
rectangular contours. The rear end also cuts a powerful and athletic
figure. The taillights extending well into the centre of the rear end
represent a horizontal interpretation of the signature BMW “L” shape.

Interior design: modern space has a BMW-typical driver focus
and offers exceptional comfort for all passengers.

The design of the new BMW iX3 interior sets new standards in terms of
modernity and digital experience. The interior has an uncluttered,
reduced design, providing the ideal stage for the digital experience.
The cabin is all about the clear driver focus for which BMW is
renowned and comfort for all those on board. Created specifically for
electric vehicles, the vehicle architecture allows for extremely
generous levels of space in all five seats. The lines of the
“floating” instrument panel flow directly into the large door trim
panels, creating an enveloping wraparound effect for the passengers.
With its fabric surface, the instrument panel – with atmospheric
backlighting – contributes to the warm and inviting atmosphere inside.
Large window surfaces and the optional panoramic sunroof with climate
comfort glazing generate an ambience bathed in light.

Another prominent influence in the horizontally arranged cockpit is
the new control/operation system BMW Panoramic iDrive, which is based
on the likewise newly developed BMW Operating System X. It brings
together displays, geometry and light & sound design into a
holistic experience, customisable via the My Modes. Also playing a
role here are the new driving sounds, sound effects and sound signals
of the BMW HypersonX soundscape created specifically for the Neue Klasse.

The elegantly minimalist seats of the new design stand out with their
excellent comfort levels over long journeys, sporty character, and
wide range of adjustment. Also sporting an all-new design are the
steering wheel and the centre console between the driver’s seat and
front passenger seat, complete with storage areas and control
elements. The rear seat bench offers a single, sofa-like seat surface.

Precisely arranged interior worlds bring a unique and thoroughly
distinct character to every equipment package. The materials and
colour schemes selected are inspired by modern interior design and
advanced Neue Klasse technology and coordinated harmoniously with one
another. They therefore make a noticeable, visible contribution to the
exceptional comfort levels on board the new BMW iX3. An attractive
range of colours enables a perfect match between the interior tones
and exterior paint finishes. As alternatives to the
standard-specification Contemporary interior design in Veganza,
customers can also choose from two other compositions, the black BMW M
interior world in Veganza and M PerformTex, and BMW Individual option
with a high-quality Merino leather/M PerformTex combination in Black
Bicolour or Adelaide Grey.

The new BMW iX3 comes as standard with the M Sport package in
Singapore. Its dynamic looks are further emphasised by Black
high-gloss features for the exterior, and Multifunctional seats and
Sports steering wheel inside the car.

The BMW Iconic Glow exterior package enables an
impressive sound and light sequence with Relaxed,
Balanced and Excited styles. The
welcome sequence commences as soon as the driver approaches the
vehicle and, as they take their seat, an animated greeting begins in
the BMW Panoramic Vision and Central Display,
spreading smoothly from the driver’s side of the cockpit to the front
passenger side.

BMW Panoramic iDrive: consummate driver focus, BMW-style.

The new BMW iX3 is the first series-produced model in which BMW
Panoramic iDrive redefines the user experience and therefore also
Sheer Driving Pleasure. With its neatly judged balance between digital
functions and physical elements, BMW Panoramic iDrive elevates
intuitive operation – according to BMW’s fabled “hands on the wheel,
eyes on the road” principle – to a new level of driver focus. The
entire system is born out of decades of experience and a user-centric
design approach. Individual customer feedback, data from over 10
million connected vehicles and usability studies with more than 3,000
customers were all incorporated into the development process. Physical
controls are on hand, including for the windscreen wipers, turn signal
indicators, exterior mirrors, volume control, gear selector, parking
brake, hazard warning lights, rear window heating and defrost
function. Other functions have been optimised for use by touch and
voice command or via the multifunction steering wheel.

The BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant has been significantly
upgraded and now includes two new voices, a new appearance for the BMW
Panoramic Vision and additional assistance for the driver through
proactive suggestions and personalisable routines. Large Language
Model (LLM) technology will also enable even more intuitive voice interaction.

BMW Panoramic iDrive brings four central elements together into a
unique display and control/operation system. The BMW Panoramic Vision
projects information across the full width of the windscreen, from
A-pillar to A-pillar. The content in the centre and on the front
passenger side can be adapted to personal tastes and requirements. Key
driving information appears in the driver’s field of vision. And above
the BMW Panoramic Vision, the BMW 3D Head-Up Display can now also show
integrated navigation and automated driving displays on the road with
spatial depth. The free-cut-design Central Display with matrix
backlight technology is located in an ergonomically ideal position
next to the steering wheel. On the driver’s side, vertically arranged
widgets enable fast and direct access to particularly frequently used
functions using QuickSelect tech. The new multifunction steering wheel
serves as the primary physical control point. Its button panels help
the driver and vehicle to work together symbiotically using
illuminations, a relief-like surface and haptic feedback.

Underpinning BMW Panoramic iDrive is the likewise newly developed BMW
Operating System X, which offers extensive scope for personalisation
via the BMW ID, intelligent driver assistance, a wide variety of
digital functions, extensive connectivity using the My BMW App and
outstanding future-proofing thanks to BMW Software Updates.

The standard-fit navigation system BMW Maps features an upgrade for
the charging-optimised route guidance, plus intelligently coordinated
presentation of information on the BMW Panoramic Vision, Central
Display and 3D Head-Up Display. The BMW Digital Key Plus can be set up
on smartphones and smartwatches from all the leading makers, also as
standard. Meanwhile, BMW Operating System X unlocks a wide variety of
entertainment while on the road and during charging stops, bringing
customers not only music streaming apps such as Spotify and in-car
gaming with AirConsole, but also a video-streaming app offering
Disney+, YouTube and other international/numerous country-specific
on-demand and live video platforms. The Zoom App for video calls is
now also available for use.

The BMW ConnectedDrive Store provides an overview of the features
customers can currently download or access, and these can be added
easily and flexibly through ConnectedDrive Upgrades. For example, more
than 60 third-party apps in the music & audio, entertainment,
gaming, news, and travel & local categories are available
worldwide. To download the features and use the apps, customers will
need access to connectivity via BMW Digital Premium or a WiFi
network/smartphone hotspot. The BMW Digital Premium range of features
customers can add as they desire comprises extensive safety functions,
extended navigation features, unlimited data for entertainment and now
also BMW M Apps.

Sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology: higher efficiency,
more range, faster charging.

The sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology developed for the Neue
Klasse comprises highly efficient electric motors, fundamentally new
high-voltage batteries with cylindrical cells, and 800V technology.
The new BMW iX3 50 xDrive is powered by two electric motors, which
together generate output of 345 kW/469 hp and 645 Nm of torque. It
accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds and reaches a top speed
of 210 km/h. Its electric all-wheel-drive configuration consists of an
extensively upgraded electrically excited synchronous motor (EESM)
with particularly high levels of efficiency at the rear axle and, at
the front axle, a new asynchronous motor (ASM) distinguished by its
compact design. The combination of EESM and ASM is evidence of the BMW
Group’s commitment to technological neutrality within electric
mobility as well. The drive technology developed for the Neue Klasse
reduces energy losses by 40 per cent compared to fifth-generation BMW
eDrive technology, and weight by 10 per cent.

The new high-voltage battery concept with cylindrical cells for the
Neue Klasse also achieves significant advances. The energy density on
a cell level is 20 per cent higher than with fifth-generation BMW
eDrive technology, and the new concept also paves the way for a 30 per
cent increase in charging speed. The cylindrical cells are integrated
directly into the high-voltage battery (“cell to pack”), which
benefits energy density. Added to which, the high-voltage battery is
integrated into the vehicle architecture as a structural component to
minimise weight (“pack to open body”). The high-voltage battery in the
new BMW iX3 50 xDrive has a usable energy content of 108.7 kWh,
enabling a range of up to 805 kilometres in the WLTP cycle.

BMW Charging: short charging times, premiere
for bidirectional charging.

The advances brought by sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology have a
significant influence on the charging experience, too. A maximum
charging rate of 400 kW enables users to fill their new BMW iX3 with
enough energy at an 800V direct current (DC) rapid charging station to
add up to 372 kilometres of range in just 10 minutes. The high-voltage
battery can charge from 10 to 80 per cent capacity in 21 minutes.
Thanks to the battery management tech with integrated switching matrix
developed completely in-house by the BMW Group, the new BMW iX3 can
also be charged from 400V DC stations. Upgrades to the battery
preparation also help to shorten charging times. The new BMW iX3 50
xDrive can top up on alternating current (AC) at 22 kW as standard.

Extensive bidirectional charging functions are also available for the
new BMW iX3, meaning that it can be used as an energy supply source
for a variety of applications. The Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function
turns the new BMW iX3 into a mobile powerbank, which can supply
electric devices with power while on the move.

Emblematic of the charging experience in this new vehicle generation
is the intelligent charging flap of the new BMW iX3, which uses
artificial intelligence (AI) to detect the customer’s intention to top
up their car and then automatically opens or closes. And
sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology makes it possible to view the
current charging speed and curve in the My BMW App.

Heart of Joy: Sheer Driving Pleasure reaches a new level.

One of four “superbrains” in the electronics architecture of the Neue
Klasse, the Heart of Joy looks after drivetrain and driving dynamics
management. This high-performance control unit is responsible for the
drivetrain, brakes, energy recuperation and steering subfunctions, and
processes information up to ten times faster than conventional control
units. In this way, the potential of electric mobility in terms of
instantaneous power delivery, smooth power transfer, agility,
stability and efficiency is utilised to the full.

Together with the BMW Dynamic Performance Control software stack
developed fully in-house, the Heart of Joy calculates all the driving
dynamics parameters with a new level of speed and precision. Here, the
decades of experience of BMW in the field of driving dynamics control
come to the fore. The driver and passengers in the new BMW iX3
experience a uniquely harmonious and BMW-typical driving feeling
whatever the situation and speed. Every movement of the accelerator,
brake pedal and steering is executed directly and with assurance and
precision. Supreme traction and – thanks to the unique Soft Stop
function – the smoothest stopping process ever achieved by a BMW are
among its other attributes. In addition, the efficiency of the new BMW
iX3 is optimised by the integrated management of drivetrain, braking
system and energy recuperation. In everyday driving, 98 per cent of
braking manoeuvres are carried out using recuperation only, i.e.
without application of the friction brakes.

“Superbrain of automated driving” for the driver assistance
systems with new generation technology.

Another high-performance computer brings together all the automated
driving and parking functions in the new BMW iX3. With 20 times
greater processing power than conventional control units, the
“superbrain of automated driving” enables a significant technological
advance with the Neue Klasse in this area as well.

BMW
Symbiotic Drive provides seamless support.

The new BMW iX3 uses its Symbiotic Drive capability combined with
driver assistance to create a completely new driving experience.
Whenever the driver wants to accelerate, brake or steer, their inputs
merge seamlessly and intuitively with AI-enabled software.

The result is a whole new form of Sheer Driving Pleasure. These
driver assistance functions are generally already included as standard
with entry-level specification. For example, the automatic cruise
control system is not deactivated with only a light press of the brake
pedal; instead, it is only switched off when the driver brakes harder.
In the same way, the lane control assistance remains active even after
a small steering input by the driver.

New
electronics architecture with four “superbrains”.

The completely newly developed electronics architecture comprises a
total of four high-performance computers known as “superbrains”. They
pool their processing power for driving dynamics, automated driving,
infotainment and basic & comfort enhancing functions. They also
provide the basis for a new software architecture that can be
continuously upgraded and is therefore designed to incorporate
upcoming function updates including AI features.

The new digital nervous system consists of a wiring harness divided
into four zones. This reduces weight by 30 per cent compared to the
technology used previously and allows for around 600 metres less
wiring. Another new feature is digital “smart eFuses”, which replace
classical safety fuses. They enable intelligent power modes for
different vehicle states that help to improve the car’s overall efficiency.

With its four superbrains and highly connected software platforms,
the new BMW iX3 is a true software-defined vehicle and exceptionally
well equipped for the future. Added to which, the new electronics
architecture forms the basis for multifaceted improvements in the
networking of the new BMW iX3 with the My BMW App. This new level of
quality when it comes to integration delivers new experiences and
holds considerable potential for future innovations.

Equipment and individualisation to enhance driving pleasure,
comfort and versatility.

The new BMW iX3 will be available with one solid and eight metallic
paint finishes from launch. As an alternative to the 21-inch M
aerodynamic wheels fitted as standard, customers can also browse an
exclusive selection of new light-alloy wheels (20-, 21- and 22-inch)
available as an option. The range also includes BMW M and BMW
Individual light-alloy wheels, some in aerodynamically and
weight-optimised Air Performance specification.

Customers can tailor the design of the cabin to their personal style
with the help of the Contemporary (standard), M Sport and BMW
Individual interior design worlds. The driver’s seat and front
passenger seat are electrically adjustable as standard. The
multifunction seats with massaging functions and sports steering wheel
are standard while the M Sport seats and M Sport steering wheel are optional.

Standard specification for the new BMW iX3 50 xDrive also includes
three-zone automatic climate control, Comfort Access, automatic
tailgate operation, extended exterior mirror package, telephony with
wireless charging function, adaptive headlight functions with
intelligent light control, BMW Iconic Glow package including
illuminated BMW kidneys, Harman Kardon HiFi system with 13 speakers
and a large panoramic sunroof, whose climate comfort glazing has
unique solar energy filtering and 100-per cent UV protection.

Holistic sustainability approach targeting circularity and
CO2e reduction.

The BMW Group kicked off the development of its upcoming vehicle
generation by intensifying its efforts to systematically implement
“Design for Circularity” principles and further reduce CO2e
emissions throughout the product life cycle. A holistic sustainability
approach has therefore been applied for the new BMW iX3.

A variety of measures ensures that the product carbon footprint of
the new BMW iX3 50 xDrive over its full life cycle – based on a
mileage of 200,000 kilometres – is 34 per cent smaller than that of
its predecessor. This means that, when charged with electricity from
the European energy mix, it has a smaller product carbon footprint
than a comparable combustion-engined (ICE) model after around 21,500
kilometres. When charged exclusively with electricity from renewable
sources, the new BMW iX3 50 xDrive beats the comparable ICE model
after only 17,500 kilometres (WLTP combined), allowing customers to
potentially achieve CO₂e advantages over the ICE model in as little as
one year.

A significant portion of the new BMW iX3 is made from secondary raw
materials. For example, the storage compartment under the front hatch
and the engine compartment cover are made from 30 per cent recycled
marine plastic. The headliner (textile) and the floor-mat carpet is
made from 100 per cent recycled PET. When it comes to the car’s
chassis, aluminium consisting of 80 per cent secondary raw material is
used for the swivel bearings and hub carriers, while the optional
22-inch BMW Individual aerodynamic wheels are cast from aluminium with
a 70 per cent secondary raw material content.

The overall product carbon footprint of the supply chain for the new
BMW iX3 50 xDrive has been reduced by 35 per cent. Production and
operations at BMW Group Plant Debrecen do not use fossil fuels in
normal operating conditions. And thanks to sixth-generation BMW eDrive
technology and other BMW EfficientDynamics measures, the energy
consumption of the new BMW iX3 is 20 per cent lower than that of the
predecessor model (WLTP combined).

Munich. Bavarian premium carmaker BMW is using an
elaborately orchestrated brand campaign to shine the spotlight on its
wide range of fully electric vehicles, which now comprises the BMW i4,
BMW i5, BMW i7, BMW iX1, BMW iX2, BMW iX3 and BMW iX. The
multi-channel campaign is focusing communications on values that have
forever been associated with the BMW brand – exceptional dynamics,
innovative technologies, unmistakable design and supreme driving comfort.

The global campaign relies primarily on video formats. The
centrepiece of the campaign launch was a 30-second TV commercial,
which has been spun off across the brand’s social media channels –
YouTube and Instagram, in particular – and, with the help of paid
media, in the individual markets. The commercial invites the viewer to
discover the “soul” and character of BMW along a fast-paced journey
through the history of the brand: from victories in motor racing via
the brand’s distinctive design language and expertise, and its
time-honoured talent for innovation, all the way to the transformation
to electric mobility. The joy of driving has been inextricably linked
with BMW since the company was formed – and this commercial brings it
to life through the brand’s all-electric models.

The use of the hit single “Beautiful Things” by US singer Benson
Boone turns up the emotionality of the commercial another notch. The
track has exceeded 1.3 billion streams on Spotify alone and has also
been a trending sound on social media platform TikTok for several months.

The emotionally charged hero film is accompanied by a series of other
assets. For example, five reels have been produced which focus on the
brand’s core competencies – Performance, Heritage, Innovation,
Motorsport and Community. And additional reels telling inspirational
social-media stories on the various fully electric models round off
the multi-channel campaign.

“With this emotional campaign we are celebrating the unique soul of
our brand, which has defined us since day one and which we have also
carried into our fully electric BMW vehicles,” says Bernd Körber,
Senior Vice President BMW Brand and Product Management. “After all,
our customers represent the true essence of BMW, and they experience
pure driving pleasure in all of our models.”

As well as the video content, a selection of just under 40 photo
assets showcase the fully electric models to spectacular effect in
natural surroundings – at different times of day and in different
locations. Atmospheric lighting, which enriches the motifs with warm
colours and mildly exaggerated contrasts, brings a very distinct sense
of approachability to the images. The exclusive features of the
individual models, such as the two-tone paint finish of the BMW i7,
are depicted realistically. Alongside numerous individual images
emphasising the pure joy of electric driving, a handful of pack shots
of the BMW i4, BMW i5, BMW i7, BMW iX1, BMW iX2, BMW iX3 and BMW iX in
their various configurations highlight the rich diversity of vehicles
offered by BMW across the relevant segments.

Singapore. BMW Group Asia first began its
electromobility journey back in 2014 with the groundbreaking BMW i3
and BMW i8. Today, nine years and five generations of BMW eDrive
technology later, the company broadens its portfolio of fully electric
vehicles (EVs) with the new BMW i4 eDrive35.

“The BMW i4 brings electrification to the heart of the BMW brand,”
said Mr. Lars Nielsen, Managing Director, BMW Group Asia. “It is the
perfect companion for those who value practicality, performance, and
poise, all in one sustainable package. Electromobility is gaining
traction in Singapore as the charging infrastructure develops and
OEMs, such as BMW, continue to offer more EV options. We strongly
encourage customers who are considering an EV to get behind the wheel
– whether it be the BMW i4, i7 or iX3, once you’ve experienced the
true essence of what a fully electric BMW stands for, there is no
turning back.”

The new BMW i4 eDrive35 expands the BMW i4 family that currently
consists of the highly successful BMW i4 M50 (best-selling BMW M
vehicle globally in 2022) and BMW i4 eDrive40. The new BMW i4 eDrive35
comes with all the latest technology – from the efficient electric
powertrain found in models such as the BMW iX and its BMW i4 siblings,
to the BMW Curved Display with Operating System 8.

The new BMW i4 eDrive35 is produced at the BMW Group Munich plant and
with this new model, the share of fully electric cars will reach 50%
of the total production volume there in 2023. Including the new BMW i4
eDrive35, the BMW Group portfolio of fully electric cars covers six
model lines with 10 powertrain derivatives in total. The BMW Group is
aiming for fully electric vehicles to account for 50% of its global
sales by 2030.

BMW Group Asia offerings in Singapore.

Today, there are a total of six fully electric models in four
different body styles that cater to all lifestyles:

Gran Coupé: BMW i4, BMW i4 M50

Sedan: BMW i7

Sports Activity Vehicle: BMW iX3, BMW iX

3-Door Hatch: MINI Electric

This is just the beginning of the company’s electric model offensive.
With the upcoming BMW i5 sedan, keen drivers will be treated to a car
that is more dynamic and comfortable than ever. It also boasts a fresh
interpretation of its signature elegantly sporting design, BMW
Operating System 8.5 with BMW Curved Display, and a suite of
innovative digital services.

Latest sales figures.

According to the Land Transport Authority (LTA) figures for the first
four months of 2023, BMW Group Asia sold a total of 204 fully electric
vehicles (top in the premium segment and #2 among all brands),
accounting for just over 20% of total BMW and MINI EV sales to date in
Singapore. This achievement further strengthens the company’s position
as a pioneer and leader in the electromobility space and delivers an
encouraging indicator of EV buyers’ preference for BMWs and MINIs in Singapore.

Charging in Singapore.

There are currently more than 3,600 EV charging points island wide
with plans already in motion to further grow this figure. Singapore
aims to deploy 12,000 and 60,000 charging points by 2025 and 2030
respectively. Of these 60,000 charging points, 40,000 will be in
public carparks and the other 20,000 in private premises.

To make electromobility simple and straightforward for customers, BMW
Group Asia has been collaborating with Greenlots, a member of the
Shell Group, since 2014, to provide home and public charging options
for customers in Singapore.

Today, BMW Group Asia continues this partnership by offering BMW i
and MINI Electric customers either a comprehensive home or public
charging package under the Shell Recharge banner.

For home charging, customers will receive a wall-mounted AC
charger with complimentary installation service.

For public charging, customers will receive a subscription package
of 10,000 kWh over 3 years at Shell Recharge stations with no
monthly cap for charging. This is equivalent to 50,000 km of driving
range (assuming average energy consumption at 20kWh/100km).

The wall-mounted AC charger provides a fast way to charge their
vehicle at a rate of up to 11kW. Once the vehicle is plugged in,
charging begins and will end automatically when the battery is fully
charged or has reached the pre-determined level. In addition, BMW i
and MINI Electric models are compatible with all Type 2 public
charging stations that are widely available across the island.

BMW Charging and MINI Charging give drivers access to one of the
largest networks of public charging stations located in various office
buildings, shopping malls, hotels and industrial parks in Singapore.
Activation of and payment for the chargers can be done through an RFID
card or the Shell Recharge smartphone app.

Regional footprint.

BMW currently offers electrified vehicles in 80% of the ASEAN region.
These markets include Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia,
Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

The new BMW i4 eDrive35 is now available for viewing at all
authorised BMW dealers in Singapore.

Singapore. BMW Asia and Performance Motors Limited
announced the availability of the new BMW iX3, a Sports Activity
Vehicle (SAV) that joins a new generation of electric vehicles from
the BMW i brand.

The BMW Group is raising the bar for driving pleasure in vehicles
with an all-electric powertrain. As part of the company's
electrification offensive, the BMW iX3 has been given a detailed model
update which will accentuate the sporting aura of the purely electric
SAV with 210kW/400 Nm. The new BMW iX3 now comes as standard with a
model-specific M Sport package.

The conceptual and technological connection between the new BMW iX3
and the two other ambassadors for premium electric mobility – the BMW
iX and BMW i4 – is also expressed in terms of design by the updated
styling of the front and rear end. New controls and additions to
standard specification underline the progressive premium
characteristics of the new BMW iX3's interior.

A pioneer of fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology.

The BMW iX3 was the first model to feature the fifth-generation BMW
eDrive technology now also found in the BMW iX and BMW i4. Its highly
integrated drive unit brings the electric motor, power electronics and
transmission together within a single housing, and generates a maximum
210 kW/286 hp. The motor's power is channelled to the road along the
traditional route via the rear wheels.

The high-voltage battery in the new BMW iX3 is also the product of
fifthgeneration BMW eDrive technology. Its gross energy content of 80
kWh and the exceptional efficiency of the electric motor enable a
range of up to 460 kilometres, as calculated in the WLTP test cycle.
Customer surveys and comparison drives by professional independent
testers have clearly shown how the new BMW iX3 utilises the high
energy storage capability of its lithium-ion battery to achieve an
exceptional operating range – in everyday driving and exacting
conditions including extremely low ambient temperatures and an
extremely sporty driving style – when measured against its segment rivals.

Advanced charging technology enables up to 150 kW of power to be fed
into the car at a DC fast-charging station. In this way, it can take
on enough energy in the space of 10 minutes to increase its range by
100 kilometres as per the WLTP test cycle. This gives the new BMW iX3
compelling everyday usability.

Flexible vehicle architecture.

The new BMW iX3 is a fully fledged SAV. Its unrestricted everyday
usability and sporty, sure-footed and safe driving characteristics are
the result of an outstandingly well resolved overall design. It shares
the rugged versatility of the conventionally powered variants of the
BMW X3, offers generous levels of space for five occupants, has a load
compartment whose capacity can be expanded from 510 litres to a
maximum 1,560 litres, and brings the allure of locally emission-free
driving pleasure to the globally popular premium midsize SAV segment.
The flexible vehicle architecture of the BMW X3 makes it the brand's
first model to be offered with highly efficient petrol engines, a
plug-in hybrid drive system or fully electric drive.

Production of the new BMW iX3 is underway at the BMW Brilliance
Automotive joint venture's Shenyang facility in China, both for the
local market and for export.

Holistic sustainability approach, positive environmental
impact throughout the vehicle's lifecycle.

The detailed update for the new BMW iX3 brings fresh energy to the
electric mobility arena. As well as leading the way with
fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology, the new BMW iX3 also displays
other parallels with the BMW iX and BMW i4. A particularly important
element here is the holistic approach to sustainability that is deeply
ingrained in the character of the BMW i brand. The objectives
enshrined as part of this approach span the whole of the vehicle
lifecycle – from raw materials procurement via the supply chain and
production to the usage phase of the brand's vehicles and subsequent
recycling – and enhance both environmental and social sustainability.

The amount of the cobalt used in the high-voltage battery of the new
BMW iX3 has been reduced by around a third compared with the
previous-generation battery in the 2019 BMW i3. The BMW Group has put
in place its own procurement process for the cobalt and lithium it
supplies to the producers of the battery cells, part of which involves
monitoring compliance with environmental and social standards.
Renewable energy alone is used both for the manufacture of the battery
cells and in the production of the vehicle as a whole. The
BMW-specific design principle underpinning the electric motor
dispenses with the need for rare-earth metals in the rotor. The
extensive use of secondary raw materials in the manufacture of
aluminium castings and thermoplastics help the BMW Group to achieve
its goals with regard to cutting CO2 emissions and
promoting the circular economy.

In the development phase of the new BMW iX3, it was stipulated that
the allelectric SAV had to demonstrate a significantly smaller carbon
footprint than a comparable, conventionally powered vehicle across its
full lifecycle.

Sporting efficiency, BMW i-style.

With its powerful proportions, precise lines and clear sculpted
surfaces in the BMW brand's new design language, the new BMW iX3 is
every inch the modern SAV – and it combines versatility with hallmark
BMW sporting ability and a robust premium character. Colour accents in
BMW i Blue, a largely enclosed BMW kidney grille and light alloy
wheels with optimised aerodynamics signify the presence of a purely
electric drive system and a vehicle concept focused squarely on sustainability.

The characteristic blend of sporty driving pleasure and exceptional
efficiency is showcased even more vividly in the exterior design of
the new BMW iX3. Updates include a modified design for the headlights,
BMW kidney grille, side skirts, front and rear aprons.

Striking appearances, with hints of the BMW iX and BMW i4.

Now more visually striking (in its upper section, in particular), the
BMW kidney grille is also larger than before and has a single-piece
frame. This comes in Pearl-effect Chrome with a blue accent - in
familiar BMW i style – along the inner edges. The inner surfaces of
the kidney grille elements have a mesh-like structure and feature a
BMW i badge.

The new contours of the headlights, which are around 10 millimetres
slimmer than previously, also help to give the new BMW iX3 its
visually striking looks. This lends the front end a distinct
similarity to that of the BMW iX and BMW i4. Indeed, the parallels
between the three latest BMW i models in terms of concept and
technology are accentuated even more clearly in their design. The new
BMW iX3 is also fitted as standard with Adaptive LED Headlights with
matrix function including variable light distribution, Adaptive
Headlights and cornering light, plus BMW Selective Beam non-dazzling
high beam assistant. Adaptive LED Headlights with BMW Laserlight can
be specified as an option. At speeds above 60 km/h, the dynamic
Laserlight module increases high-beam range to a maximum 650 metres
and follows the course of the road. Blue inlays in the L-shaped light
elements of the daytime driving lights identify the inclusion here of
highly sophisticated headlight technology.

M Sport package now included as standard.

Also helping to shape the dynamic aura of the new BMW iX3 are the
design features of the M Sport package now fitted as standard. This
package brings a prominently three-dimensional and therefore athletic
surface design to the front apron. The lower air intake, which comes
with ten-stage active air flap control to cool the drive system
components and brakes, has gained in size. The air curtains positioned
at the outer edges of the front end are now L-shaped and have blue accents.

The air breathers in the front side panels also have an M-specific
design, while the blue accent in the side skirts is omitted. Muscular
and aerodynamically optimised surfacing marks out the rear apron of
the new BMW iX3. The outer elements of the rear diffuser are in BMW i
Blue. The contours of the fully LED rear lights are marked out even
more precisely by a black surround. The striking night design is
defined by the slim light graphic and now three-dimensional
pincer-shaped contouring with delicately integrated, horizontal turn
signal indicators.

Aerodynamically optimised light-alloy wheels increase range.

Newly designed aerodynamic wheels in 20-inch format with M-specific
styling in Jet black and aluminium inlays are fitted as standard on
the new BMW iX3. Their design helps to give the car its low drag
coefficient (Cd) of 0.29 and therefore has a positive effect on the
all-electric SAV's range.

Driving pleasure and control/operation further enhanced.

The sporting nature of the new BMW iX3 stands out more prominently
than before on the inside too. Sport seats are now fitted as standard,
while a modern control panel in the centre console and restyled
controls in the centre of the instrument panel add to the progressive,
premium ambience. The BMW Live Cockpit Professional fitted as standard
features a control display whose screen diagonal has been increased to
12.3 inches.

Blue accents on the Start/Stop button – now located in the centre
console, the gear selector lever and the BMW emblem on the steering
wheel allude to the pure-electric drive system at the heart of the new
BMW iX3. Other model-specific cues include the model lettering on the
centre console, door sill plates bearing the BMW i logo, elements in
the instrument cluster and control display screens reflecting the
presence of the electric drive system, and the standard-fitted ambient
lighting, which provides BMW i Blue illumination in its default setting.

For intense, focused driving pleasure: sport seats and new
controls.

The standard sport seats provide optimal support for the driver and
front passenger through high-speed corners. They are trimmed in the
Vernasca leather upholstery in a choice of Mokka, Oyster or Black with
blue contrast stitching. The now standard M Sport package includes
both an Anthracite-coloured headliner and interior trim strips in the
new Aluminium Rhombicle dark finish. There is also a choice of three
optional interior trim strip variants.

The new driver-focused cockpit layout with perfect ergonomic
positioning of the controls helps the driver to concentrate on what is
happening on the road ahead. The fully digital screen grouping in the
new BMW iX3 is now formed by a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and an
enlarged control display that matches its dimensions. The Start/Stop
button for the motor is positioned in a new-look control panel in the
centre console, where the model-specific selector lever is joined by
the BMW Controller and the buttons for the Driving Experience Control
switch and electromechanical parking brake.

Attractive equipment line.

The standard "Impressive" equipment package comes with
acoustic glazing for the front door windows, Comfort Access, BMW
Gesture Control, BMW Head-Up Display, Harman Kardon Surround Sound
System and the BMW lconicSounds Electric function. Specially created
for electrified BMW models, this simulated drive sound enhances the
driving experience by weaving in an extra layer of emotion. The
soundtrack produced by the car varies in tone to reflect the selected
driving mode.

The new BMW iX3 comes as standard with a Start/Stop acoustic sequence
developed as part of a collaboration between composer and curator Hans
Zimmer and Creative Director Sound at the BMW Group Renzo Vitale. When
the Start/Stop button is pressed, a short composition sets the scene
for the electric driving experience in store.

A trailblazer in its segment.

The drive system in the new BMW iX3 delivers signature BMW
performance characteristics in consummate silence. The result is a
compelling form of driving pleasure, combined with zero tailpipe
emissions. The fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology comprises an
electric motor developed in-house by the BMW Group, the power
electronics, highly advanced charging technology and a model-specific
high-voltage battery.

The new BMW iX3 is therefore blazing a trail for the latest
development stage in electric drive systems at the BMW Group. The
fifth generation BMW eDrive technology is highly scalable, meaning it
can be used in a variety of vehicle concepts; after starting out in
the BMW iX and BMW i4, it will soon be extended to electrified
vehicles from other model series as well.

Highly integrated drive system, electrically excited electric
motor.

The new BMW iX3 is fitted with a drive unit that brings together the
electric motor, power electronics and transmission within a single
housing for the first time. This highly integrated electric drive
system topology located in the model-specific rear axle subframe
allows a substantial reduction in both the installation space required
and the weight of the components relative to the power they produce.
This has brought about an increase in power density of around 30 per
cent compared with the BMW eDrive technology previously featured in
electrified models.

The electric motor in the new BMW iX3 works according to the
principle of an electrically excited synchronous motor and therefore
differs significantly from other solutions on the market. The
excitation of the rotor is not induced by fixed permanent magnets, but
the feed-in of electric power. This design allows the rare earth
metals required for magnetic components to be entirely avoided in the
manufacture of the rotor. The latest version of the electric motor
also displays exceptional efficiency of up to 93 per cent, as compared
to values of under 40 per cent for modern combustion engines.

The drive system can rev to 17,000 rpm, generating maximum output of
210 kW/286 hp early on and keeping it on tap over a wide band. The
motor produces extraordinarily high peak torque for a unit of its
size, all 400 Nm of which can be summoned from rest – thanks to
judiciously managed excitation of the rotor – and is likewise
maintained into the upper reaches of the rev range.

The motor's drive power is transferred along the shortest possible
path to the single-ratio transmission, which is installed in the same
housing, and from there to the rear wheels. In the process, advanced
driving stability control technology (including near-actuator wheel
slip limitation) helps to sustain relentless forward momentum even in
adverse road and weather conditions. The new BMW iX3 accelerates from
0 to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to
180 km/h.

High-voltage battery with high capacity.

The high-voltage battery in the new BMW iX3 is based on the latest
Nickel-rich technology familiar from other BMW applications. The
lithium-ion battery is composed of 188 individually controllable,
prismatic battery cells – each cased in aluminium – which are grouped
into 10 modules. The battery is positioned low down in the vehicle
floor as an integral component of the body. The new-generation battery
has a gross energy content of 80 kWh, of which 74 kWh is utilised,
giving it an advanced mass-to-capacity ratio.

The high-voltage battery's excellent energy density, the electric
motor's outstanding efficiency, the adaptive recuperation function
while on the move, a weight-minimising design and the reduction in the
body's aerodynamic drag add up to an all-encompassing sustainability
concept and impressive capabilities in everyday use and over
long-distance journeys (the WLTP-calculated range is up to 460
kilometres). The new BMW iX3 therefore differs significantly from
other electric vehicles in its segment whose range is boosted mostly
by the use of ever larger high-voltage batteries. These impact
negatively on the vehicle's weight and, by extension, its overall efficiency.

Innovative solutions for charging at home and during a journey.

In Singapore, the new BMW iX3 comes as standard with the BMW i
Wallbox Plus and a basic installation package. Combining BMW i design
and reliability in the convenience of the customer’s home, the BMW i
Wallbox Plus provides a fast way to charge their vehicle. A 4.0-metre
charging cable is also provided to enable charging flexibility. Once
the vehicle is plugged in, charging begins and will end automatically
when the battery is fully charged. In addition, the new BMW iX3 is
compatible with all Type 2 public charging stations that are widely
available across the island.

BMW Charging, a mobility service of BMW i, gives drivers access to
one of the largest network of public charging stations located in
various office buildings, shopping malls, hotels and industrial parks
in Singapore by using an RFID card that is already enabled for Shell
and Greenlots chargers. Payment of the electric current used is made
via the RFID card or the relevant smartphone app.

Combined Charging Unit for fast charging at up to 150 kW.

The Combined Charging Unit (CCU) in the new BMW iX3 enables an
extremely high level of flexibility when it comes to using charging
stations of different types. It therefore makes refuelling the car
with electric power a quick and easy process across all international
car markets. When using alternating current (AC) terminals, the CCU
enables single-phase charging at up to 7.4 kW and three-phase charging
at up to 11 kW. Plugging the vehicle into a direct current (DC)
fast-charging station allows it to take energy on board at a rate of
up to 150 kW.

With the car plugged into a Wallbox, the high-voltage battery in the
new BMW iX3 can be charged from 0 to 100 per cent in 7.5 hours. A DC
fast charging station, meanwhile, can replenish the battery from 10
to 80 per cent of its full capacity in 32 minutes. A 10-minute charge
at one of these stations provides enough power to add 100 kilometres
to the driving range in the WLTP cycle.

New features in the My BMW app.

In the new charging area of the My BMW app, all information on the
charging history, charging process, scan & charge and the control
of charging and climate settings is clearly presented. It is also
possible to receive push notifications, e.g. when the vehicle is fully
charged. Both in the app and in the vehicle, the visualisation in the
form of a blue circle on the map always provides a good overview of
the current range.

New news app in the vehicle.

With the recently revised news app, BMW iX3 customers benefit from an
improved range of news-on-demand and infotainment podcasts. With the
introduction of personalised messages, customers can choose categories
in order to receive messages only on topics that interest them. By
additionally "liking" the individual posts, the intelligent
app gets to know the preferences of the customers better and better
and can tailor the news feed more precisely. Personalised news and top
news are provided in high audio quality for a more comfortable and
pleasant listening experience. Instead of a text-to-speech computer,
the content is spoken by speakers. Customers can filter the content by
country and language. By integrating additional and large news
providers, the news app offers a considerably larger variety of news reports.

Smartphone connection and integration of third-party services.

The BMW Live Cockpit Professional includes optimised smartphone
integration, for example via Apple CarPlay. This enables a wide range
of digital services such as the Siri digital voice service, various
map apps, music streaming services such as Apple Music or the WhatsApp
messaging service to be used. The systems are integrated directly into
the display and control system through a wireless connection via WiFi
between the respective smartphone and the vehicle. The driver can see
all the important information from the apps provided there on the
control display and in intelligently prepared form in the instrument
cluster and BMW Head-Up Display.

With Android Auto™, the BMW Group has expanded its range of seamless
networking in the vehicle to include another customer-relevant
service. Android Auto in the BMW offers simple and safe use of
smartphone functions such as music, media or messaging apps while
driving. With the help of the Google Assistant, the customer can
interact with his smartphone and the actions taken are shown on the
vehicle's info display. The highlights of the interaction between
Android Auto and BMW are the convenient, wireless networking and the
intelligent integration of Google Maps™ navigation instructions in the
BMW HeadUp display.

BMW Digital Key.

The standard BMW Digital Key enables the new BMW iX3 to be unlocked
and locked using Near Field Communication (NFC) with the Apple iPhone.
The smartphone simply has to be held up to the door handle to open the
vehicle. In the vehicle itself, the engine can be started as soon as
the smartphone is in the wireless charging tray. The Digital Key can
be set up via the My BMW opp. The vehicle owner can also share the
access rights with up to five other users, including a configuration
option for novice drivers that limits, among other things, the maximum
speed and engine power as well as the maximum volume of the radio.

BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant with extended functions.

The latest generation of the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant in
the new BMW iX3 ensures a particularly close bond between driver and
vehicle. The digital companion, which is activated by voice control
(for example "Hey BMW") or by pressing a button, is
constantly gaining additional skills. With naturally spoken
instructions, the air conditioning can be regulated, among other things.

The use of the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant is accompanied by
new graphic symbols on the control display, which underline the
interactive character of the system. The graphic shown now “leans”
towards the active speaker and thus visualises the “attention” of the
system during speech input. The system recognises whether it is being
addressed by the driver or front passenger and reacts accordingly, for
example by changing the climate control on only one side.

Driver Assistance Systems.

The progressive character of the new BMW iX3 shines through once
again in the exceptionally wide range of functions offered by its
driver assistance systems. When it was first launched globally, the
allelectric SAV already boasted an array of automated driving and
parking functions that have only been introduced in the conventionally
powered BMW X3 model variants as part of the latest model update. This
further reinforces the pioneering high-tech credentials of the BMW
iX3. What is more, it comes with virtually all the assistance systems
included as standard.

The driver assistance systems process camera images as well as the
data gathered by ultrasonic and radar sensors to monitor the vehicle's
surroundings, warn of potential hazards and minimise the risk of an
accident with corrective braking or steering inputs. Existing
functions are improved by means of remote software upgrades or
extensions, in addition, the customer has the option of subsequently
booking and installing selected functions via Functions on Demand.

Driving Assistant Professional as standard.

Besides the front collision warning system and Speed Limit Info
including no-overtaking indicator, standard equipment for the new BMW
iX3 also features Driving Assistant Professional. This comprehensive
comfort and safety package includes the Steering and Lane Control
Assistant complete with Active Navigation function, which helps the
driver to keep to the route calculated by the navigation system when
travelling on multi-lane roads.

Automatic Speed Limit Assist and route monitoring are further
highlight features. They enable Active Cruise Control with Stop&Go
function to factor in both speed limits and the nature of the current
route when regulating the speed.

Further components of Driving Assistant Professional include Lane
Change Warning, Lane Departure Warning and Lane Keeping Assistant with
active side collision protection. The system also comprises Rear
Collision Prevention, as well as front and rear crossing traffic warning.

Parking Assistant Plus: assistance with manoeuvring included
as standard.

BMW iX3 drivers also benefit from effective assistance when parking
and manoeuvring. The standard Parking Assistant Plus includes Active
Park Distance Control (Active PDC) with sensors at the front and rear,
Lateral Parking Aid, Reversing Assist Camera and the Reversing
Assistant. The system also helps the driver to select and use parking
spaces either parallel or perpendicular to the road, taking over
control of the accelerator, brakes and steering during the parking
manoeuvre. The Parking Assistant Plus can also provide automated
assistance when exiting parallel parking spaces.

In addition, the Parking Assistant Plus system features Surround View
including Top View, Panorama View and 3D View. Meanwhile, the Remote
3D View function gives drivers the ability to call up a
three-dimensional live image of their vehicle and its immediate
vicinity on their smartphone.

The list of optional extras also features the BMW Drive Recorder,
which uses the cameras of the various driver assistance systems to
record video footage from different points around the vehicle, before
saving the recordings so that they can be either watched later on the
control display when the car is stationary or exported via the USB port.

The new BMW iX3 is now available for viewing at the Performance
Motors Limited showroom.

Singapore. The BMW iX3 has teamed up with Marvel
Studios’ “Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings,” which began
opening in global cinemas in September 2021. This marks the next
installment in BMW’s successful collaboration with Marvel Studios
following the BMW X3 and BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé appearing in Marvel
Studios’ “Black Widow” earlier this year. To commemorate this global
partnership and the appearance of the BMW iX3 in the latest Marvel
Studios film, BMW Singapore is proud to announce the BMW iX3
Legend Edition will exclusively be available in the Lion
City in Q4 2021.

“Just as Marvel fans had been greatly anticipating the latest chapter
in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we expect BMW fans will be just as
excited for the high-calibre BMW iX3 Legend Edition,”
said Mr Daren Ching, Director of Marketing, BMW Asia. “The
first-ever BMW iX3 has been very well received in Singapore, with a
majority of the stock being spoken for within weeks of its launch in
August 2021. With only eight units of this limited edition model
coming to the Lion City, customers should register their interest
sooner rather than later!”

Fans can now visit bethefirst.bmw.com.sg/theix3/
to sign up and register their interest for this special edition ahead
of its official market launch in the coming weeks. Upon placing a
refundable deposit of $500, customers will receive limited edition
Marvel merchandise, as well as an Electrified Drive Package which
includes a 2D1N staycation package with the PARKROYAL COLLECTION
Pickering, Singapore.

The BMW iX3 Legend Edition will be available in
Mineral White or Carbon Black. Standout details on this special
edition include perfectly tailored M Performance components. For
example, the exterior mirror caps are meticulously hand-made from
carbon fibre, underlining the high-tech pedigree of the BMW iX3. Their
dynamic design ensures an eye-catching premium look and adds an
individual athletic touch. This pairs nicely with the M Performance
side decals in Frozen Black, as well as the M Performance door sill
finishers in carbon fibre. As a final flourish, the BMW iX3
Legend Edition features high-quality BMW fixed hub caps –
these create a special focal point on the wheel even when the vehicle
is in motion.

Singapore. BMW Group Asia is celebrating seven
years of electrification in Singapore with the launch of the
first-ever fully electric BMW iX3. With three electric vehicles
(EVs) consisting of the BMW i3s, MINI Electric and now the BMW iX3,
alongside five plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) from the BMW
330e to the BMW X5 xDrive45e, BMW Group Asia continues to provide
the largest range of electrified vehicles in Singapore compared with
any other brand.

“This is a big milestone for the BMW brand, as customers in
Singapore now have the power of choice when it comes to the BMW X3,”
said Mr. Christopher Wehner, Managing Director, BMW Group Asia.
“Customers have three drivetrains to choose from – internal
combustion engine, PHEV and EV. Depending on your lifestyle, where
you live and the infrastructure available to you, we have something
for everyone.

The best part is this is only the beginning! In the next six
months, we will be introducing two more fully electric vehicles –
the first-ever BMW iX and BMW i4. Beyond that, customers can expect
more electrified models arriving on our shores in 2022, delivering
the BMW driving experience they know and love, but with an electric kick.”

BMW Group Asia is also providing customers with the complete
solution – from a comprehensive charging package and qualified EV
service technicians, to the recycling of EV batteries.

For instance, with every purchase of the BMW iX3, customers will
receive the following:

BMW Wallbox Plus

Home installation service

5-year warranty / 100,000km

6-year servicing inclusive (no mileage limit)

8-year high-voltage-battery warranty / 160,000km

BMW ConnectedDrive services to monitor charging status remotely.

BMW-certified EV service technicians are also on hand to give
customers the peace of mind that their EVs are in good hands. Each
technician is required to undergo up to seven levels of specialised
training to proficiently perform work on live components of an EV.
Performance Motors Limited has the largest team of certified
High-Voltage Technicians and High-Voltage Experts in the BMW Group
Asia region.

Finally, BMW Group Asia is proud to be working with TES, who recently
opened
Southeast Asia’s First Battery Recycling Facility, to ensure EV
batteries are recycled at end-of-life.

“TES has been working with BMW Group Asia since 2019, to ensure that
batteries from their electrified vehicles are properly transported and
processed,” added Thomas Holberg, Global Vice President, TES
Sustainable Battery Solutions. “Our proprietary lithium-ion battery
recycling process extracts the precious metals found within these
batteries, creating a closed loop solution and allowing them to
re-enter the manufacturing supply chain.”

Mr. Fernando Ferrer, Customer Support Director, BMW Group Asia
commented, “It is not enough to simply offer electrified vehicles in
the market. As an organisation committed to environmental
sustainability, it is important to focus not only on providing the
most efficient battery cell, but also on its entire value chain. Our
partnership with TES is critical to our overall electrified offering
in Singapore and further demonstrates our holistic approach to
safeguarding the earth for future generations.”

Singapore. BMW Asia and Performance Motors Limited
today announced the availability of the first-ever BMW iX3, the first
fully electrically powered BMW X model that is ready to conquer the
roads. The first-ever BMW iX3 blends locally emission-free driving
pleasure with the sporting ability for which BMW is renowned and the
comfort, multi-faceted functionality and spaciousness of a Sports
Activity Vehicle (SAV). The first-ever BMW iX3 sees the BMW Group
pressing ahead with the model offensive set out in its NUMBER ONE >
NEXT corporate strategy in the segment for vehicles with electrified
drive systems. The technological expertise amassed in the development
of BMW i models is now coming to the fore in a fully electrically
powered model from the BMW core brand.

The first-ever BMW iX3 also embodies the strategic “Power of Choice”
approach with which the BMW Group is covering the broad variety of
customer requirements and statutory regulations around the world. The
BMW X3 will be the first model to be available with a highly efficient
petrol engine, plug-in hybrid system or pure-electric drive system.
The first-ever BMW iX3 is the brand’s first model to also be built for
export at the Shenyang plant in China, which is operated by the joint
venture BMW Brilliance Automotive.

The first-ever BMW iX3 owes its forward-looking character to the
unique combination of its electric motor’s efficiency, the optimised
energy density of its high-voltage battery and its high charging
capacity. This is the result of the BMW Group’s many years of
unwavering development work in the field of electric mobility. The
advances achieved since the market launch of the BMW i3 combine with
fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology to enable improvements in
operating range through intelligently enhanced efficiency. This means
that disproportional large batteries, which usually have a negative
effect on vehicle weight, driving dynamics and electric power
consumption, can be avoided.

Premiere for fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology.

The premiere of the first-ever BMW iX3 also fires the starting gun
for the fifth generation of BMW eDrive technology. The latest versions
of the electric motor, power electronics, charging technology and
high-voltage battery have enabled clear progress in the areas of
performance characteristics, electric power consumption and range. The
components developed by the BMW Group will also be fitted in the BMW
iX and BMW i4 models.

With these qualities in place, the first-ever BMW iX3 has an eye on
both the current requirements of the electric vehicle segment and its
future face. In its fifth generation, BMW eDrive technology has
attained a level of development beyond the one of market rivals and
provides an outstanding basis for economically sustainable
applications in volume production models. At the same time, the strong
appeal of the overall vehicle concept goes hand in hand with rising
demand worldwide for all-electric premium cars. The first-ever BMW iX3
is therefore arriving at just the right moment.

Highly integrated drive system technology.

The highly integrated drive system technology of the first-ever BMW
iX3 plays a particularly important role in optimising efficiency and
power development. The electric motor, transmission and power
electronics are now arranged together in a single housing. The
electric motor in the first-ever BMW iX3 works according to the
principle of a current-excited synchronous motor, without the usage of
magnets. This design allows rare earths to be entirely avoided in the
manufacturing of the motor.

The power density of the electric motor in the first-ever BMW iX3 is
30 per cent greater than that of existing fully electric vehicles from
the BMW Group. The motor displays efficiency of up to 93 per cent, in
comparison to under 40 per cent for combustion engines. The new drive
system unit generates maximum output of 210 kW/286 hp and peak torque
of 400 Nm which, unlike with many other electric motors, is sustained
at high revs. The first-ever BMW iX3 sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.8
seconds, putting it on equal footing with the conventionally powered
BMW X3 xDrive30i. Top speed is electronically limited to 180 km/h.
Sending power to the rear wheels creates a classic BMW driving
experience combined with supreme traction – thanks to the actuator
contiguous wheel slip limitation (ARB) technology – and outstanding efficiency.

Cutting-edge battery cell technology plays a central role in the
latest development stage of high-voltage batteries. The storage
capacity of the battery, relative to the installation space required
and its weight, has been substantially increased. The gravimetric
energy density of the 188 prismatic cells in the first-ever BMW iX3 is
around 20 per cent higher than the one of the battery cells used by
the BMW Group for fully electric vehicles up to now. A gross energy
content of 80 kWh – of which 74 kWh is utilised – and the high
efficiency of the drive systems allow the first-ever BMW iX3 to offer
a range of up to 459 kilometres in the WLTP test cycle.

The new technical features making their debuts under the banner of
the fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology include an innovative
charging unit, sending power to both the 400V battery and the 12V
on-board power supply. When using alternating current terminals, it
enables both single-phase and three-phase charging at up to 11 kW.
Plugging the vehicle into a direct current fast-charging station
facilitates charging outputs of up to 150 kW. The high-voltage battery
in the first-ever BMW iX3 can therefore be charged from 0 to 80 per
cent of its full capacity in 34 minutes. At its maximum direct current
fast-charging of 150 kW, drivers can inject the power required to add
100 kilometres to the car’s driving range (in the WLTP cycle) in 10
minutes of charging.

Optimised efficiency enhances capability over long distances.

The outstanding efficiency of its electric motor and its high
charging capacity give the first-ever BMW iX3 an extraordinary
long-distance capability. On a trip from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur,
for example, the first-ever BMW iX3 would need to make fewer charging
stops than a comparable electric vehicle whose efficiency is
compromised by the presence of larger and heavier high-voltage
batteries. Also, those stops would be shorter as well.

Adaptive recuperation enhances efficiency and driving comfort during
a journey. The intensity of the Brake Energy Regeneration is adapted
to the road situation described by data from the navigation system and
the driver assistance system sensors. For example, when approaching a
junction, a speed-restricted stretch of road or a vehicle on the road
ahead, recuperation is fully utilised. Meanwhile, on the open road,
the coasting function is activated whenever the driver takes their
foot off the accelerator. As an alternative to adaptive recuperation,
in driving position D the driver can choose a high, medium or low
Brake Energy Regeneration setting. Also, using the selector lever in
the centre console to engage driving position B generates the
signature one-pedal feeling of the BMW Group’s electric vehicles by
providing particularly strong recuperation.

Sporty handling and supreme traction.

The latest-generation high-voltage battery has a particularly slim
construction. Positioned low down in the car’s underbody, it can be
integrated into the SAV’s flexible vehicle architecture. This lowers
the car’s centre of gravity by around 7.5 centimetres compared with
its conventionally powered BMW X3 siblings, noticeably enhancing
lateral dynamics. Among the bespoke elements of the first-ever BMW
iX3’s chassis construction is a rear axle subframe, which offers the
required installation space for the drive system unit. The standard
adaptive suspension includes electronically controlled dampers, whose
characteristics adapt to the road surface and situation at hand. This
enables carefully judged optimisation of the car’s ride comfort and
dynamics. The optional Adaptive M suspension is tuned to deliver
particularly sporty damper response.

The instant power development of the electric motor and
model-specific chassis tuning infuse the first-ever BMW iX3 with
sporty, agile driving attributes. The innovative ARB traction system
familiar from the BMW i3 and a high level of directional stability
also give it astonishing traction in adverse weather conditions and on
loose ground for an SAV with a single driven axle.

Blazing a trail: products from BMW Charging, digital services
from BMW Connected Charging and outstanding environmental
credentials.

The extensive product offering from BMW Charging builds on the BMW
360° Electric programme first launched by the BMW Group back in 2013.
The company promptly captures a leading role in driving forward
electric mobility by unveiling innovative solutions for charging at
home or on the move.

In Singapore, the first-ever BMW iX3 comes as standard with the BMW i
Wallbox Plus and a basic installation package.
In addition, the first-ever BMW iX3
is compatible with all Type 2 public charging stations that are widely
available across the island.

ChargeNow, a mobility service of BMW i, gives drivers access to one
of the largest network of public charging stations located in various
office buildings, shopping malls, hotels and industrial parks in
Singapore by using the BMW i ChargeNow card. Payment of the electric
current used is made via the ChargeNow card or the relevant smartphone app.

Services already familiar from the BMW i3, such as navigation with
range display on the map and detailed information on public charging
stations – covering everything from address through to connector type
– can be accessed from the car or with the new My BMW app.

The first-ever BMW iX3 is equipped as standard with the latest
generation of the ID7 operating system, allowing every line of
software code in the car to be updated over the air.

The exceptionally efficient drive system, the extensive use of
secondary raw materials in the manufacture of aluminium castings and
thermoplastics, the absence of rare earths, and the across-the-board
use of green electricity in production, including the cells for the
high-voltage battery, are all contributory factors in the remarkably
impressive CO2 assessment for the first-ever BMW iX3.

Proportions and versatility of an SAV, innovative aerodynamic
wheels.

The exterior design of the first-ever BMW iX3 displays the typical
proportions of an SAV, which means it provides a visual showcase for
the robust premium character and all-round talents espoused by BMW X
models. But it also adds a locally emission-free drive system to the
mix – without diluting those core SAV attributes in any way.
Model-specific design features optimise the car’s aerodynamic
properties while lending visual expression to its
sustainability-focused drive concept at the same time. The front apron
and BMW kidney grille have a largely enclosed design, while the rear
end has also been sculpted in order to reduce air resistance.

Innovative, aerodynamically designed light-alloy wheels also help to
control the flow of air around the vehicle. The aerodynamic wheels
making their debut on the first-ever BMW iX3 reduce its drag
coefficient by around 5 per cent over an equivalent vehicle with
conventional light-alloy wheels. This is achieved with the help of
sophisticated inserts in the V-spoke base wheel whose surfaces keep
the air flowing far more smoothly. Hence, the improvement in
efficiency adds around 10 kilometres to the range of the first-ever
BMW iX3 in the new WLTP test cycle. This all combines with aerodynamic
enhancements to the underbody’s rear diffuser and chassis strut area,
as well as with the air flap control system, to give the all-electric
SAV a drag coefficient (Cd) of 0.29.

Premium ambience and BMW IconicSounds Electric in the
interior.

Understated blue accents for both the exterior and interior of the
first-ever BMW iX3 allude to the presence of its electric drive
system. Combined with clearly structured controls, high-quality
materials and stylishly designed surfaces create the premium interior
ambience typically associated with an SAV. Another hallmark quality of
this breed of car – versatility – is reflected in spaciousness on a
par with that of conventionally powered BMW X3 model variants. Thanks
to the 40 : 20 : 40 split/folding rear seat backrest, load capacity
can be increased from 510 to a maximum of 1,560 litres, as required.

The debut of BMW IconicSounds Electric in the first-ever BMW iX3
provides acoustic feedback to enrichen the electric driving experience
by lending it emotional depth. Load changes are signalled by a
smoothly modulated sound, and recuperation during overrun and braking
is accompanied by gently filtered acoustic response, meaning that
every driving state is replicated by a matching sound pattern. When
the Start/Stop button is pressed, a short sound composition can be
heard, setting the scene for the electric driving experience in store.
This particular feature comes as standard on the first-ever BMW iX3,
while the drive sound is an original work by BMW’s sound designers and
acoustic engineers. The simulated Start/Stop sound in the first-ever
BMW iX3 is the first sound originating from the cooperation between
Award-winning composer Hans Zimmer and BMW to feature in a production
vehicle. Drive soundtracks from the collaboration with Hans Zimmer
will become available in electrified BMW models at a later date.

The first-ever BMW iX3 is available with the “Impressive” equipment
line. This standard specification comprises a wide array of details
designed to enhance comfort, safety and driving pleasure. These
include 20-inch light-alloy wheels in the new aerodynamically
optimised design, Adaptive LED headlights, acoustic glazing for the
front door windows, a panoramic glass sunroof, automatic tailgate
operation, Driving Assistant Professional featuring Active Cruise
Control with Stop&Go function, Steering and Lane Control
Assistant, Lane Change Warning and Lane Departure Warning, plus Park
Distance Control with front and rear sensors, and a tyre pressure indicator.

There is also a sports steering wheel, a Storage package, Comfort
Access, ambient lighting, Vernasca leather trim and front sports seats
with driver’s side lumbar support, electrically adjustable seats with
memory function on the driver’s side and a heat-pump-operated
three-zone automatic climate control system including pre-heating and
pre-conditioning function. The BMW Head-Up Display, High Beam
Assistant and Parking Assistant Plus including Surround View system
are also on hand to enhance both comfort and safety.

BMW Live Cockpit Professional (complete with an optimised navigation
system), the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, wireless smartphone
integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto preparation, Remote
Software Upgrade, the digital services from BMW Connected Charging and
telephony with wireless charging can all be found on the standard

Fully electric mobility celebrates its premiere in a BMW X model –
the new BMW iX3 (fuel consumption combined in the
NEDC test cycle: 0.0 l/100 km; electric power consumption combined:
17.8 – 17.5 kWh/100 km; CO<sub>2</sub> emissions combined: 0 g/km;
fuel consumption combined in the WLTP test cycle: 0.0 l/100 km;
electric power consumption combined: 19.5 – 18.5 kWh/100 km;
CO2 emissions combined: 0 g/km). Locally emission-free
driving pleasure complements the sporting ability for which BMW is
renowned and the comfort, multi‑faceted functionality and
spaciousness of the successful BMW X3. Latest stage in the ongoing
rollout of the BMW Group’s electrification strategy; technological
expertise amassed in the development of BMW i cars utilised for the
first time in a purely electrically powered model from the BMW core brand.

New BMW iX3 will be the brand’s first model to also be produced
for export at the Shenyang manufacturing facility in China. Market
launch will begin in China later in 2020.

Strategic “Power of Choice” approach covers broad spread of
customer requirements and statutory regulations around the world:
BMW X3 is the first model to be available with a petrol or diesel
engine, plug-in hybrid drive system or all-electric drive system.

New BMW iX3 blazes a trail for fifth-generation BMW eDrive
technology. Major progress made in terms of power density, operating
range, weight, installation space requirement and flexibility. Power
density of the electric drive system increased by 30 per cent over
the BMW Group’s existing fully electric vehicles; gravimetric energy
density of the high-voltage battery at cell level up by 20 per cent.
Latest versions of the electric motor, power electronics, charging
technology and high-voltage battery (all developed in-house) will
also be deployed in the BMW iNEXT and BMW i4 from 2021.

Efficiency boosted significantly compared with the BMW i3
by highly integrated drive system technology. Electric motor, power
electronics and transmission arranged in a central housing for the
first time. Fifth-generation BMW eDrive high-voltage battery with
the latest battery cell technology and gross energy content of
80 kWh enables operating range of up to 460 kilometres [285 miles]
in the statutory new WLTP test cycle (up to 520 kilometres [323
miles] in the NEDC test cycle). BMW Group monitors compliance with
environmental and social standards as part of its procurement
process for the lithium and cobalt used in battery cells.

Newly designed fifth-generation BMW eDrive electric motor
produces maximum output of 210 kW/286 hp and peak torque of 400 Nm
(295 lb-ft). Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h [62 mph] in 6.8 seconds
(for purposes of comparison – BMW X3 30i: 6.4 seconds), top speed
(electronically limited): 180 km/h [112 mph]. The design principle
of a current-excited synchronous motor enables optimised power
development and allows engineers to avoid the use of rare earths.

Scope for varying degrees of recuperation enables choice between
pronounced one-pedal feeling with extensive recuperation of braking
and coasting energy in driving position B and adaptive recuperation
including coasting function in driving position D. Recuperation
level can be adjusted through three stages. Adaptive recuperation
enhances driving comfort and efficiency by adjusting Brake Energy
Regeneration and the coasting function to the driving situation at hand.

Power transfer to the rear wheels delivers a classical BMW driving
experience. Unrivalled combination of low electric power consumption
and high charging capacity enables long-distance journeys at high
average speeds. Adaptive suspension (fitted as standard) optimises
sporting responses and comfort.

BMW IconicSounds Electric. Newly developed soundscape for
electrically powered BMW models makes its debut in the BMW iX3 and
adds extra emotional depth to the driving experience. Powerful drive
sound available in cars with the equipment line “Impressive”.
Unmistakable composition when starting and deactivating the electric
drive system developed in collaboration with Hans Zimmer.

Bespoke charging products and services: BMW Charging Card provides
simple and convenient access to currently more than 450,000 public
charging points worldwide ; new Flexible Fast Charger (allowing use
of different socket types) and high-output Wallboxes now available
as options. Individual packages offer the optimum charging solution
for every customer need.

New digital services from BMW Connected Charging in the car and
via the app promote user-friendly electric mobility and enhance
navigation planning, including recommendations for charging stops.
Navigation system factors mid-journey breaks to charge the
high-voltage battery (includes detailed information on individual
charging points) into route planning and calculation of arrival times.

Optimised energy storage concept now enables vehicle charging
capacity of up to 150 kW at DC fast-charging stations; Recharging
from 0 to 80 per cent of the high-voltage battery’s capacity takes
34 minutes, 10-minute charge adds 100 kilometres [62 miles] of range
(WLTP). BMW iX3 customers enjoy particularly favourable tariffs at
IONITY fast-charging stations with a consumption dependent component
of e.g. €0.29 per kWh for Germany)

Characteristic proportions of a BMW X model combine with
model-specific design features. Innovative BMW aerodynamic wheels:
19-inch light-alloy items with new, drag-reducing design fitted as standard.

Premium interior ambience with model-specific accents.
User-friendly, variable-usage cabin with high level of comfort for
five people over everyday journeys and longer distances; load
capacity can be expanded from 510 litres to as much as 1,560 litres.

Wide-reaching standard specification (“Inspiring”) includes
metallic paintwork, LED headlights, three-zone automatic climate
control with pre‑heating and pre-conditioning, automatic tailgate
operation, panoramic glass sunroof, Driving Assistant Professional
and ambient lighting. Optional equipment line “Impressive” also
brings 20-inch light-alloy wheels, acoustic glazing, sport seats,
Vernasca leather trim, BMW Head-Up Display, Parking Assistant Plus
and Harman Kardon Surround Sound.

BMW Live Cockpit Professional with BMW Maps cloud-based navigation
system and BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant as standard.
Smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
preparation, Remote Software Upgrade and digital services from BMW
Connected Charging also standard).

Outstanding environmental credentials thanks to commitment
to sustainability throughout the value chain. CO2 impact
of the BMW iX3 over its entire lifecycle is significantly less than
a BMW X3 xDrive20d; impact reduced by 30 per cent when using
electricity from the European energy mix for charging and by around
60 per cent when using exclusively green energy.

Press Contact: Amanda Poh
Tel: +65-6838-9629
E-mail: amanda.poh@bmwasia.com

X3,Press Kit,G08,iX3,Product,BMW
