A flexible drive architecture allows model variants with highly efficient petrol and diesel engines, plug-in hybrid systems and purely electric drive systems to be produced on a single production line at the BMW Group's Dingolfing plant.

Stretched proportions, strong front, individual rear.

Dynamically stretched proportions and generously designed surfaces characterise the exterior of the all-new BMW 5 Series Touring. Compared to its predecessor, the all-new BMW 5 Series Touring is 97 millimetres longer (5,060 millimetres), 32 millimetres wider (1,900 millimetres) and 17 millimetres higher (1,515 millimetres). The all-new BMW 5 Series Touring has the longest wheelbase in its class, increasing by 20 millimetres to 2,995 millimetres.

The distinctive front end features a modern interpretation of the hallmark twin headlights and BMW grille. Two almost vertical LED elements serve as direction indicators and daytime running lights respectively. The BMW grille, which projects far forward, features standard BMW Iconic Glow contour lighting. In the side view, the flat window graphics and the long roof spoiler emphasise the sporty, elegant 2-box design. Powerfully sculpted rear wheel arches, together with the flat rear window, emphasise the car's wide stature. An L-shaped chrome bar divides the LED rear light elements, which extend well into the side sections.

The range of paintwork includes four BMW Individual paint finishes while the dynamic character of the all-new BMW 5 Series Touring is further emphasised by the standard M Sport Package and 20" M aerodynamic wheels with 245/40 front and 275/35 rear tyres.

Progressively designed cockpit, fully vegan interior.

At the heart of the progressive, driver-oriented cockpit design is the BMW Curved Display. Its 12.3-inch Information Display and the Control Display with a screen diagonal of 14.9 inches form a fully digital display network. The modern premium ambience in the interior is further enhanced by the new sports seats fitted as standard, the steering wheel, which is now flatter at the bottom, and the standard BMW Interaction Bar.

The all-new BMW 5 Series Touring has a completely vegan interior as standard. The Veganza seat surfaces also come as standard with decorative quilting. A wider luggage compartment opening combined with a low sill makes it easy to stow large items of luggage. The all-new BMW 5 Series Touring has a luggage compartment volume that can be expanded from 570 to up to 1,700 litres. In addition to the automatic tailgate operation, remote unlocking of the 40:20:40 split rear seat backrest from the luggage compartment is also standard. With the longest wheelbase in the competitive segment, large track widths, an almost perfectly balanced 50:50 axle load distribution, intelligent lightweight construction and optimised rigidity of the body-chassis connection, it offers the ideal conditions for this. Like the all-new BMW 5 Series Sedan, the Touring model is also based on a flexible drive architecture. All model variants are produced on a joint production line at the BMW Group plant in Dingolfing where only around 620 grams of residual waste were produced per vehicle manufactured in 2022. The electricity used for vehicle production is generated from renewable sources to 100 per cent. Corresponding optimisations implemented in the supply chain reduce the CO2 footprint by up to 20 percent for the first-ever BMW i5 Touring, compared to vehicles in which these measures are not applied. This is a significant contribution to BMW Group’s sustainability targets across the entire value chain and fulfils its premium claim not only in terms of build quality and driving pleasure, but with regards to its environmental impact.

Exterior: Stretched proportions emphasise elegance and presence.

In keeping with the modern design language of the all-new BMW 5 Series, the first-ever BMW i5 Touring features generous, clearly defined surfaces. These are structured by a few precisely placed lines. Its 2-box design is expressed above all in the long roofline, the gently sloping rear, and the dynamically stretched side window graphics. In addition, a striking lateral indentation in the rear of the body and the dynamically sloping roofline give the first-ever BMW i5 Touring an athletic and sporty appearance.

The first-ever BMW i5 Touring measures 5,060 millimetres long, 1,900 millimetres wide, and 1,515 millimetres tall with a wheelbase of 2,995 millimetres. The resulting proportions, together with the modern surface design, signalise elegance and a commanding presence.

Like the all-new BMW 5 Series Sedan, the first-ever BMW i5 Touring has a striking front end with a modern interpretation of the typical BMW grille and twin headlights. The BMW radiator grille, which projects far forward, features the standard BMW Iconic Glow contour lighting.

Adaptive LED headlights with blue design elements are standard. The LED headlights feature the brand's distinctive four-eyed face in a reduced form. Two almost vertical LED elements arranged on the outside provide the daytime driving lights and the turn indicators. The precisely orchestrated interplay between the headlights, the illuminated BMW radiator grille, and the light carpet projected from the sill create effective welcome and goodbye scenarios. In the side view, the flat side window graphics, the slim D-pillar, and the long roof spoiler emphasise the sporty elegance of the first-ever BMW i5 Touring. An athletic shoulder line rises above the powerful rear wheel arches. The upper character line of the side section flows into an air scoop at the rear. Together with the other horizontal lines and the flat rear window, it emphasises the car's broad and solid stature. The rear lights, which extend well into the side sections, also feature a tailormade design. Their horizontal LED elements are divided by an L-shaped chrome strip.

A wide range of paintwork, aerodynamic wheels, and M Sport Package.

The range of paintwork colours includes one solid finish and nine metallic finishes. In addition, three optional BMW Individual paint finishes are available to choose from, including two particularly expressive matt paint finishes.

The standard equipment of the first-ever BMW i5 Touring includes 20-inch M aerodynamic wheels whose design and construction methods reduce both weight and air resistance. As part of the standard M Sport Package, horizontal slats, an M logo, and high-gloss black exterior mirror caps ensure a particularly striking appearance.

Interior and equipment: The ideal combination of driving pleasure and functionality.

The fully digital BMW Curved Display, new steering wheels, and sports seats as well as the gear selector lever on the centre console characterise the modern interpretation of the brand's typical driver orientation, which goes hand in hand with the current interior design of the first-ever BMW i5 Touring. Its progressive premium ambience is also reflected in the standard BMW Interaction Bar, a fully vegan interior, and innovative digital services.

Optimised functionality for everyday use, leisure and travel.

Shoulder room in the front is abundant, together with leg, shoulder and elbow room in the rear. The tailgate of the first-ever BMW i5 Touring swings upwards and the low loading sill makes it easy to stow large items of luggage.

When all five seats are occupied, the luggage compartment has a capacity of 570 litres. This can be increased to 1,700 litres by fully folding down the rear seat backrest, which can be split 40:20:40 as standard. The proportion of recycled material in the luggage compartment trim of the first-ever BMW i5 Series Touring is 21 per cent.

As well as automatic tailgate operation, the rear seat backrests can be remotely unlocked from the luggage compartment as standard. Storage compartments under the load compartment floor hold the cassettes for the luggage compartment partition net and flexible luggage compartment cover. There are also additional stowage compartments, including one for the charging cable.

Progressive cockpit design with BMW Curved Display, BMW Interaction Bar and new steering wheels.

At the heart of the progressive cockpit design is the BMW Curved Display. The fully digital display system consists of a 12.3-inch Information Display and a 14.9-inch Control Display. Another new feature is the standard light strip for the instrument panel and door panels. In the same place, the standard BMW Interaction Bar, an effectively backlit functional unit with a crystalline surface structure, features not only a dynamic light animation but also touch-sensitive control panels for the ventilation and air conditioning systems as well as for activating the hazard warning lights.

The innovative cockpit elements are combined with a large interior trim for the instrument panel, which is available in particularly high-quality aluminium, carbon fibre, and fine wood finishes. The steering wheels, which are now flatter at the bottom, have also been redesigned and their control panels now provide a haptic feedback. The standard M leather steering wheel has a characteristic three-spoke design.

Sports seats and fully vegan interior fittings as standard.

Newly designed sports seats come as standard in the first-ever BMW i5 Touring along with additionally electrically operated adjustment options. Optional features include heated seats, active seat ventilation with air conditioning, as well as Comfort seats. In the standard Travel & Comfort System, ambient lighting elements for the backs of the front seats emphasise the atmospheric ambience in the rear.

Optimised technology for air conditioning, lighting and sound.

In the first-ever BMW i5 Touring, the standard automatic air conditioning with enhanced functions operates with optimised control logic. Air vents are used in the instrument panel area instead of conventional air vents. The direction of the air coming out of the vents can be varied by means of adjusting control levers. In addition, air conditioning and ventilation are controlled via the touch function on the Control Display.

BMW IconicSounds Electric provide special sound effects in the all-electric models. Standard in the first-ever BMW i5 Touring, the Harman Kardon HiFi loudspeaker not only provides high quality sound system with 12 loudspeakers and a 205W amplifier output, they accompany every movement of the accelerator pedal with authentic acoustic feedback. Other highlights of the optional equipment programme include the Bowers & Wilkins Surround Sound System with up to 18 loudspeakers.

Fascinating dynamics and long range thanks to advanced BMW eDrive technology.

The first-ever BMW i5 eDrive40 Touring is powered by an electric motor located in the rear axle area. The highly integrated drive unit generates a maximum power output of 250 kW/340 hp and a maximum torque of 400 Nm or 430 Nm with the Sport Boost or Launch Control function. It accelerates the first-ever BMW i5 eDrive40 Touring from zero to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds. The advanced BMW eDrive technology ensures exemplary efficiency. The combined power consumption of the BMW i5 eDrive40 Touring according to WLTP is 20.7 kWh per 100 kilometres. Its range is up to 548 kilometres.

The first-ever BMW i5 Touring has a high-voltage battery with a usable energy content of 81.2 kWh, which is located in the underbody to save space. In addition to the efficient electric motors, adaptive recuperation, and heat pump technology for heating and cooling the interior, drive and high-voltage battery contribute to the long distance capability of the first-ever BMW i5 Touring. If required, the MAX RANGE function can increase the range remaining until the next charging stop by up to 25 per cent.

The Combined Charging Unit (CCU) of the first-ever BMW i5 Touring enables AC charging with an output of up to 22 kW as standard. The high-voltage battery can be charged with direct current with a power of up to 205 kW. Anticipatory thermal management for the high-voltage battery optimises efficiency when using fast-charging stations. There, the range of the first-ever BMW i5 Touring can be increased by 156 kilometres within 10 minutes.

Charging in Singapore.

To make electromobility simple and straightforward for customers, today, BMW Asia continues this partnership by offering BMW EV customers either a comprehensive home or public charging package:

• For home charging, customers will receive a BMW Wallbox with complimentary installation service.
• For public charging, customers will receive a subscription package of 10,000kWh over 3 years at Shell Recharge stations with no monthly cap for charging. This is equivalent to 50,000km of driving range (assuming average energy consumption of 20kWh/100km).

The BMW Wallbox provides a fast way to charge their vehicle at a rate of up to 22kW. Once the vehicle is plugged in, charging begins and will end automatically when the battery is fully charged or has reached its pre-determined level.

BMW Charging gives drivers access to one of the largest networks of public charging stations located in various office buildings, shopping malls, hotels, and industrial parks in Singapore. Activation of and payment for the chargers can be done through an RFID card or the Shell Recharge smartphone app.

The entertainment offering includes both live channels and on-demand media libraries in the categories of news, sport, children’s entertainment, movies and series.

The new BMW iDrive also enables the use of an innovative form of in-car gaming with the AirConsole platform. Driver and passengers can play so-called casual games while the vehicle is stationary, for example to bridge waiting times while charging the high-voltage battery of the first-ever BMW i5 Touring. BMW Maps navigation system with Augmented View and optimised route guidance for charging.

The BMW Maps navigation system includes the Augmented View function that enhances the map display and enables particularly precise orientation. A live video stream from the driver’s point of view is shown on either the Control Display or the instrument cluster and enriched with contextually relevant additional information.

In the first-ever BMW i5 Touring, BMW Maps offers improved functions for route planning optimised for charging on long-distance journeys. The charging stops are planned so that the destination is reached as quickly as possible. The charging status preferred by the driver can be set to reach the stopovers and the destination. With two 5G mobile phone antennas as standard, the first-ever BMW i5 Touring ensures optimum reception for phone calls while on the move and for data transmission when playing games, streaming videos, and using other online-based services. The Personal eSIM fully integrates the vehicle into the customer’s digital ecosystem. It is not only linked to the vehicle, but also to the user’s BMW ID. Personalising the user experience with BMW ID is particularly convenient in the new BMW 5 Series Touring. Simply log in to the vehicle for the first time using a smartphone and a QR code scan to add the personal profile, load synchronisable settings and automatically link the vehicle key to the BMW ID. Munich. The new BMW 5 Series Touring is now on the road. The first vehicles were delivered to customers in Europe and Japan a few days ago. Now in its sixth generation, the sporty all-rounder in the premium segment of the upper mid-range vehicle segment is being launched for the first time as the all-electric BMW i5 Touring. Two models with purely electric drive and two with highly efficient four-cylinder diesel engines are available for the market launch. By summer 2024, the range of the new BMW 5 Series Touring and Sedan will be extended to include additional models with plug-in hybrid drive and an in-line six-cylinder diesel engine.

The Bavarian premium car manufacturer is systematically continuing the electrification of its model range with the BMW i5 Touring and the soon-to-be-available plug-in hybrid versions of the new BMW 5 Series Touring. The top model of the new series is the BMW i5 M60 xDrive Touring* with up to 442 kW/601 hp. At its side is the new BMW i5 eDrive40 Touring* with an output of up to 250 kW/340 hp and a range of up to 560 kilometres (348 miles) determined in the WLTP test cycle.

In addition, the BMW 520d Touring* and BMW 520d xDrive Touring* models, which are particularly popular in Europe, are now available. Their four-cylinder diesel engine is combined with 48-volt mild hybrid technology and develops a maximum output of 145 kW/197 hp.

Two models will be available. The new BMW 530e Touring* transmits the power of its two engines to the rear wheels via an 8-speed Steptronic transmission. In the new BMW 530e xDrive Touring*, intelligent all-wheel drive ensures optimum traction, agility and driving stability in all road conditions. This drive technology combination will also be available in the BMW 5 Series Sedan from summer 2024. The new BMW 530e xDrive Sedan* will be the third model variant of the four-door model with plug-in hybrid system.

The drive system of the three new models consists of a four-cylinder petrol engine and an electric motor integrated into the 8-speed Steptronic transmission, which together generate a system output of 220 kW/299 hp. The high-voltage battery provides a usable energy content of 19.4 kWh and enables an electric range of 83 to 95 kilometres (51 to 59 miles) for the new BMW 530e Touring, 82 to 89 kilometres (50 to 55 miles) for the new BMW 530e xDrive Touring and 82 to 93 kilometres (50 to 58 miles) for the new BMW 530e xDrive Sedan.

In the new BMW 5 Series Touring, there is also no loss of transport capacity when choosing a plug-in hybrid model. Thanks to the space-saving arrangement of the high-voltage battery in the underbody of the vehicle, the length, width and height of the completely flat luggage compartment are the same as those of the models with combustion engine and all-electric drive. Luggage capacity is 570 litres with all seats occupied and can be increased to 1,700 litres if required.

Available from summer 2024: Six-cylinder in-line diesel engine in the BMW 5 Series.

The range of engines available for the new BMW 5 Series Sedan and Touring models will be extended in summer 2024 to include a straight six-cylinder diesel engine. The drive unit of the BMW 540d xDrive Sedan and BMW 540d xDrive Touring from the BMW Group's latest modular generation is combined with 48-volt mild hybrid technology in the form of a crankshaft starter generator. Together, the combustion engine and the electric motor integrated into the 8-speed Steptronic transmission generate a maximum output of 223 kW/303 hp and a maximum torque of 670 Nm (494 lb/ft).

Torque is distributed fully variably to all four wheels via the intelligent BMW xDrive all-wheel drive system. The dynamic power delivery of the in-line six-cylinder diesel engine and the superior power transmission are reflected in the 5.2-second acceleration time from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph), which is the same for both the new BMW 540d xDrive Sedan* and the new BMW 540d xDrive Touring.

Individual appearance, optimised aerodynamics and intelligent lightweight design with high-quality M Performance exterior parts.

The BMW M Performance Parts for the exterior set individual accents in appearance and at the same time fulfil functional requirements in terms of lightweight construction and aerodynamics. They have been specially developed for the new BMW 5 Series Touring and the new BMW i5 Touring with M Sport Package or M Sport Package Pro and are perfectly matched to the geometry and design of the vehicle. All Carbon components are made of carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP), sealed with clear lacquer to achieve a high-quality finish, and give the car a sharp and sporty look from all angles.

The three-part M Performance Carbon front splitter makes a confident statement of exclusive sportiness and enhances the dynamic driving potential of the new BMW 5 Series Touring and the new BMW i5 Touring. Handcrafted to perfection, it provides performance-oriented downforce as well as a striking appearance. For a particularly exclusive look, the M Performance front splitter is also available in high-gloss black on the left and right.

In addition to the M Performance Carbon side sill attachments, which give the vehicle's profile even more visual length and depth, the new M Performance accent stripes in Frozen Black emphasise the dynamically flowing lines of the new BMW 5 Series Touring and the new BMW i5 Touring. The digitally printed accent stripes are in matt anthracite and feature the M Performance lettering. The M Performance side sill decals, which consist of a striking curved line in matt grey, highlight the vehicle’s profile even further. The decals are located below the doors and provide an elegant colour accent, especially on the black side sills. The exclusive M Performance Frozen Black accent stripes emphasise the sporty elegance and accentuate the shoulder area along the entire length of the vehicle. The high-quality film set is road wash resistant and optimised for the vehicle geometry of the BMW 5 Series Touring and the BMW i5 Touring.

The striking M Carbon exterior mirror caps and the M Performance Aramid aerial cover provide further accents for the individual and sporty profile of the new BMW 5 Series Touring and the new BMW i5 Touring. Aramid-reinforced plastic is very similar to CFRP, but has a high electromagnetic permeability.

The three-piece M Performance rear diffuser is also made from aramid. It emphasises the powerfully designed rear of the vehicle even more impressively and also enables the luggage compartment lid to be opened and closed without touching it. The M Performance high-gloss black roof spoiler and M Performance Carbon rear fins add a touch of sportiness and elegance.

High-quality interior options bring racing flair to the cockpit.

The M Performance Carbon door sill trims are an unmistakable sign of the dynamic orientation of the new BMW 5 Series Touring and the new BMW i5 Touring. With their M Performance lettering, they are an eye-catching feature when the doors are open. For a particularly elegant first impression, M aluminium door sill trims are also available. The M Performance floor mats with leather-look edging, contrasting stitching and a seam in BMW M colours add a sporty touch to the interior. 

The M Performance key case also makes a clear performance statement on any occasion. Made from Alcantara and high quality leather in a carbon fibre look, the perfectly-fitting protective cover protects the vehicle key from scratches and is a perfect addition to the range of BMW M Performance Parts. The M Performance Carbon fuel filler cap is also available for the combustion engine and plug-in hybrid variants of the new BMW 5 Series Touring. It is particularly easy to fit and features M Performance lettering on brushed aluminium.

Light alloy wheels and sport brake system for optimised performance.

The M Performance light alloy wheels available for the new BMW 5 Series Touring and the all-electric BMW i5 Touring are ideally suited to a sporty driving style and make for a highly distinctive look. Both summer wheel with tyre sets and winter wheel with tyre sets in the dimensions 19, 20 and 21 inches are available.

The summer wheel with tyre set with 21-inch M Performance Cross Spoke light alloy wheels is available for all drive types in either M Bicolor Jet Black gloss finish or M Frozen Midnight Grey. For all model variants the 19-inch M Performance light alloy wheels in Y-Spoke design in Matt Black are also available as a summer wheel with tyre set. The corresponding winter wheel with tyre set, which is also suitable for snow chains with the exception of the largest wheel dimension, are also available with an extra soft tyre compound or studded tyres.

Also available for the cold season: 20-inch M aerodynamic wheel with tyre set in burnished Bicolour Midnight Grey finish. They give all variants of the new BMW 5 Series Touring and the new BMW i5 Touring a particularly exclusive touch, even in winter. Additional wheel sets are ideally stowed in the M Performance tyre bags. A reinforced handle makes it easy to transport the wheels and protects both the driver and the vehicle from dirt.

The M Performance 20-inch brake system ensures a deceleration performance worthy of the name and short braking distances. Its red-painted brake calipers featuring the four-colour M logo look particularly distinctive in conjunction with the open rim design of the 21-inch light alloy wheels. The sport brake system is fitted with six-piston aluminium fixed calipers at the front and single-piston floating calipers at the rear to provide deceleration. The large-format, internally ventilated and perforated M Performance lightweight brake discs provide improved thermal load-bearing capacity and thus deliver even higher breaking power under extreme conditions.

The BMW 5 Series Touring, the epitome of driving pleasure, sporty elegance and modern functionality in the premium upper mid-range segment, is entering a new era. The sixth generation of the BMW 5 Series Touring is more progressive than ever, featuring numerous digital innovations, pioneering systems for automated driving and parking, increased sustainability throughout the entire product life cycle and, for the first time, an all-electric drive in the form of the BMW i5 Touring. A flexible drive architecture allows model variants with highly efficient petrol and diesel engines, plug-in hybrid systems and purely electric drive systems to be produced on a single production line at the BMW Group's Dingolfing plant. The launch in Germany, many other European countries and Japan will begin in May 2024, with other markets to follow in June 2024.

Stretched proportions, strong front, individual rear.

Dynamically stretched proportions and generously designed surfaces characterise the exterior of the new BMW 5 Series Touring. Compared to its predecessor, the new BMW 5 Series Touring is 97 millimetres longer (5,060 millimetres), 32 millimetres wider (1,900 millimetres) and 17 millimetres higher (1,515 millimetres). The new BMW 5 Series Touring has the longest wheelbase in its class, increasing by 20 millimetres to 2,995 millimetres.

The distinctive front end features a modern interpretation of the hallmark twin headlights and BMW grille. Two almost vertical LED elements serve as direction indicators and daytime running lights respectively. The BMW grille, which projects far forward, features optional BMW Iconic Glow contour lighting. In the side view, the flat window graphics and the long roof spoiler emphasise the sporty, elegant 2-box design. Powerfully sculpted rear wheel arches, together with the flat rear window, emphasise the car's wide stature. An L-shaped chrome bar divides the LED rear light elements, which extend well into the side sections.

The range of paintwork includes three BMW Individual paint finishes. The standard equipment of the new includes light alloy wheels in 18-inch and 19-inch sizes for the all-electric and the plug-in hybrid models. Up to 21-inch alloy wheels are available as an option. The dynamic character of the new BMW 5 Series Touring can be further emphasised with the M Sport Package, M Sport Package Pro and M Carbon Exterior Package options. As the top model in the series, the BMW i5 M60 xDrive Touring (combined power consumption: 20.8 - 18.3 kWh/100 km (62 miles) according to WLTP) comes as standard with exterior components that clearly express its outstanding driving dynamics.

Progressively designed cockpit, fully vegan interior.

At the heart of the progressive, driver-oriented cockpit design is the BMW Curved Display. Its 12.3-inch Information Display and the Control Display with a screen diagonal of 14.9 inches form a fully digital display network. The modern premium ambience in the interior is further enhanced by the new sports seats fitted as standard, the steering wheel, which is now flatter at the bottom, and the optional BMW Interaction Bar.

The new BMW 5 Series Touring has a completely vegan interior as standard. The seat surfaces in the Veganza version are also optionally available with a decorative perforation. Further optional equipment includes BMW Individual Merino leather upholstery in several bi-colour variants. Other highlights of the optional equipment programme include the panoramic glass roof and the Bowers & Wilkins Surround Sound System with up to 18 loudspeakers.

Optimised functionality for everyday use, leisure and travel.

The new BMW 5 Series Touring offers more space and noticeably more leg, shoulder and elbow room, especially in the rear, as well as optimised acoustic comfort. With its versatile interior and numerous intelligent functions, the new BMW 5 Series Touring is just as impressive on the road as it is in everyday use.

A wider luggage compartment opening combined with a low sill makes it easy to stow large items of luggage. Regardless of their drive technology, all variants of the new BMW 5 Series Touring have a luggage compartment volume that can be expanded from 570 to up to 1,700 litres. In addition to the automatic tailgate operation, remote unlocking of the 40 : 20 : 40 split rear seat backrest from the luggage compartment is also standard. Storage compartments under the load compartment floor provide space for the luggage compartment partition net, luggage compartment cover and charging cable for the all-electric and plug-in hybrid models.

All-electric BMW i5 Touring available in two variants from the start.

The new BMW i5 Touring is the first all-electric premium model in its competitive field. It will be available in two versions from the outset. In the BMW i5 M60 xDrive Touring, two highly integrated drive units on the front and rear axles together form an electric all-wheel drive with up to 442 kW/601 hp. With M Launch Control or M Sport Boost activated, the system torque is increased to 820 Nm (605 ft-lb). The top model accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.9 seconds and its top speed is electronically limited to 230 km/h (143 mph). The electric motor of the BMW i5 eDrive40 Touring is located on the rear axle (combined power consumption according to WLTP: 19.3 to 16.5 kWh/100 km (62 miles)) and generates a maximum output of 250 kW/340 hp and a maximum torque of up to 430 Nm (317 ft-lb) with Sport Boost or Launch Control function. The BMW i5 eDrive40 Touring accelerates from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.1 seconds.

In both models, the high-voltage battery located in the underbody provides a usable energy content of 81.2 kWh. In addition to the efficient electric motors, adaptive recuperation and heat pump technology for heating and cooling the interior, drive and high-voltage battery contribute to the long-distance capability of the BMW i5 Touring. The range determined in the WLTP test procedure is 445 to 506 kilometres (277 to 314 miles) for the BMW i5 M60 xDrive Touring and 483 to 560 kilometres (300 to 348 miles) for the BMW i5 eDrive40 Touring.

Innovative charging solutions from BMW Charging.

The battery can be charged with alternating current with an output of up to 11 kW as standard and up to 22 kW as an option. The high-voltage battery can be charged with direct current with a power of up to 205 kW. Anticipatory thermal management for the high-voltage battery optimises efficiency when using fast-charging stations. Connected Home Charging for the all-electric and plug-in hybrid models creates the conditions for solar and load-optimised as well as cost-optimised charging. The BMW i5 Touring is also suitable for the Plug & Charge Multi Contract function.

New diesel engines with 48-volt mild hybrid technology.

All diesel engines available for the new BMW 5 Series Touring are combined with 48-volt mild hybrid technology and an 8-speed Steptronic transmission. The four-cylinder engine of the BMW 520d Touring models available at market launch (combined fuel consumption: 5.9 - 5.3 l/ 100 km (62 miles); CO₂ emissions:
154 - 141 g/km according to WLTP) and BMW 520d xDrive Touring (combined fuel consumption: 6.2 - 5.7 l/ 100 km (62 miles); CO₂ emissions: 163 - 149 g/ according to WLTP) generates a maximum output of 145 kW/197 hp and a maximum torque of 400 Nm (295 lb-ft). The drive portfolio will be supplemented by an in-line six-cylinder diesel engine in summer 2024. At the same time, two model variants with the latest generation of plug-in hybrid drive will follow.

The ideal balance between sportiness and travelling comfort.

Driving pleasure in the new BMW 5 Series Touring is based on an ideal balance between sportiness and travelling comfort. With the longest wheelbase in the competitive segment, large track widths, an almost perfectly balanced 50 : 50 axle load distribution, intelligent lightweight construction and optimised rigidity of the body-chassis connection, it offers the ideal conditions for this. The extensively enhanced suspension technology includes sport steering, directly controlled wheel slip limitation and the latest version of the integrated braking system as standard. The BMW i5 Touring and the plug-in hybrid models also feature rear-axle air suspension including automatic self-levelling.

An M Sport Suspension, an M sport braking system and the Adaptive Chassis Professional (standard in the BMW i5 M60 xDrive Touring) with electronically controlled shock absorbers, Integral Active Steering and new lateral dynamics management are available as optional equipment. The Adaptive M Chassis Professional with Active Roll Stabilisation and Active Roll Comfort is also available for the top model.

Innovative systems for automated driving and parking.

The systems for semi-automated driving and parking available as standard or as an option for the new BMW 5 Series Touring set standards in the competitive environment with their range of functions reliability and everyday benefits. The highlight of the range is the optional Driving Assistant Professional including Steering and Lane Control Assist and Distance Control with Stop & Go function. In the US, Canada and Germany, the Highway Assistant is available, which relieves the driver of steering tasks on highways with structurally separated directional lanes. At driving speeds of up to 130 km/h (85 mph) it is possible to take your hands off the steering wheel and position them comfortably as long as you keep a close eye on the traffic. The system also includes the unique Active Lane Change Assistant with eye activation.

The new BMW 5 Series Touring features the Parking Assistant including start monitoring, Trailer Assistant and Reversing Assist Camera as standard. With the optional Parking Assistant Professional, automated parking and manoeuvring up to 200 metres can be controlled from outside the car using a smartphone.

BMW iDrive with "QuickSelect", video streaming, AirConsole games.

The enhanced BMW iDrive display and operating system based on BMW Operating System 8.5 offers a redesigned home screen and the "QuickSelect" quick access function. The combination of the BMW Curved Display and the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant is consistently designed for touchscreen and natural language operation. The standard BMW Live Cockpit Plus includes the cloud-based navigation system BMW Maps. The BMW Live Cockpit Professional option includes the BMW Head-Up Display and an augmented view on the Control Display or the instrument cluster.

The infotainment system in the new BMW 5 Series Touring is complemented by a range of attractive digital services. The Connected Package Professional offers a choice of YouTube and the Video app with international and country-specific content for streaming video on the Control Display. The new BMW iDrive also enables the use of an innovative form of in-car gaming with the AirConsole platform.

The new BMW 5 Series Touring is equipped with two 5G mobile phone antennas as standard and four as an option. This ensures optimum reception for telephony and online services. The standard equipment also includes optimised smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay^® and Android Auto™. The standard Personal eSIM fully integrates the vehicle into the customer's digital ecosystem. With the Remote Software Upgrades function, the new BMW 5 Series Touring always stays up to date with the latest software. It is also possible to test and rebook selected functions in the BMW ConnectedDrive Store.
