Singapore. BMW Asia today announced the availability
of the new BMW i4 and new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé, further building on
their unique status in the marketplace with targeted upgrades in
aesthetic appeal, driving pleasure, electrification and
digitalisation. The new BMW i4 will continue to deliver locally
emission-free mobility in the brand’s hallmark style while the new BMW
4 Series Gran Coupé underscores its sporting elegance with a precisely
  modified design.

“At BMW, we firmly believe in the power of choice,” said Lars
Nielsen, Managing Director, BMW Group Asia. “Regardless of the
drivetrain, the emotional experience behind the wheel of a BMW Series
4 Series is ever present. Here in Singapore, our customers expect a
superior drive and stylish companion for all occasions. Therefore,
with these fresh updates, we are confident that the new BMW i4 and new
BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé will continue to set the benchmark in the
  premium midsize class.”

The popularity of the BMW i4 also represents an endorsement of the
BMW Group’s ‘technology-open’ approach in the current ramp-up phase of
electric mobility. The all-electric gran coupé was developed on the
basis of a flexible drive system architecture. Similar vehicle
concepts now also enable BMW 7 Series, BMW 5 Series, BMW X1, BMW X2,
and BMW X3 model variants with combustion engines, plug-in hybrid
systems, and all-electric drive to be offered alongside one another.

The new BMW i4 and new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé are built at the BMW
Group’s home plant in Munich, whose transformation into a production
facility geared exclusively to all-electric models is being fuelled by
substantial investment. The green electricity needed for production
will come from hydroelectric power stations in the region.

New design for the BMW kidney grille, headlights, and rear lights.

Slim headlights and a vertically arranged BMW kidney grille dropping
deep towards the road headline the front-end styling of the new BMW i4
and new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé. A refreshed design brings additional
visual impact to these signature brand features. The surround of the
BMW kidney grille is now finished in matt chrome. Due to the low
cooling requirement of the electric drive system, the BMW kidney
grille of the new BMW i4 has a fully enclosed upper section, below
which is a Black high-gloss surface topped by a matt-silver honeycomb
pattern. The air intakes on the combustion-engine model of the new BMW
4 Series Gran Coupé have a mesh structure whose surfaces are now
  painted in matt Quartz Silver.

As well as a front apron with large side air intakes, the standard M
Sport package for the new BMW i4 also includes a diffuser element in
the lower section of the rear bumper, which is now painted in Black
high-gloss. In addition, the exhaust tailpipes integrated into the
rear apron on the left and right of the combustion-engine model have
grown from 90 millimetres to 100 millimetres in diameter.

The visually and functionally upgraded headlights also play their
part in the modern appearance of the front end. The new structure of
their LED units creates a technically focused look. Low and high beam
are generated from a single LED module. A pair of vertical and subtly
arrow-shaped LED units house the side light, daytime driving light,
and turn signal indicator functions. Comfort Access is fitted, and the
new headlights generate a Welcome Light Animation once the driver and
vehicle key come within three metres of the car.

The Adaptive LED Headlights comes as standard, which has blue inlays,
non-dazzling matrix high beam, urban lights, and a cornering light
function. The prism structure of the LED units for the urban lights
provides a striking contrast against the uniform illumination of the
daytime driving light units. All models of the new BMW i4 and new BMW
4 Series Gran Coupé are also fitted with highly expressive rear
Laserlight. This model-specific version of an innovative lighting
effect employs a technology first seen in the BMW M4 CSL. Here, laser
diodes each illuminate a fibre optic bundle, giving the rear units an
intricate light graphic. This creates an exclusive light design at the
  rear as well.

The new BMW i4 M50 xDrive meanwhile underlines its extremely sporty
character with M-specific design features producing eye-catching
visuals featuring a BMW kidney grille with a Black high-gloss surround
and horizontally arranged bars adorned by a BMW M logo. And the front
apron elements that were previously finished in Cerium Grey also come
in Black high-gloss. As a result, the front-end styling is now even
more closely related to the design of the BMW M4 high-performance
  sports cars.

New exterior paint finishes and aerodynamic wheels.

The selection of exterior paint finishes for the new BMW i4 and new
BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé now also comprises the new Cape York Green
metallic and Fire Red metallic shades. A wide variety of BMW
Individual paint finishes and BMW Individual special paint finishes
are also offered. The new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé comes with 18-inch M
aerodynamic wheels as standard, while the new BMW i4 has 19-inch M
aerodynamic wheels. The range-topping new BMW i4 M50 xDrive rides on
  19-inch M light-alloy wheels as standard.

New interior accents target progressive sporting appeal.

The modifications to the interior of the new BMW i4 and new BMW 4
Series Gran Coupé are focused on digitalization and achieving a
sharper sporting profile. New adjustment controls for the air vent
grilles in the centre of the instrument panel and on the driver’s and
front passenger side of the cockpit allow the airflow direction to be
adjusted using rotating and tilting movements.

The new BMW i4 and new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé are fitted as standard
with sport seats in Sensatec perforated.

In the new BMW i4 M50 xDrive, the standard M Sport seats are also
trimmed in the luxurious Vernasca leather. Also to be found as
standard in the M Performance model are interior trim elements in
Carbon Fibre, M door sill trim, M pedals, an M driver's footrest, an
anthracite-coloured headliner and M-specific graphics for the BMW
  Curved Display.

Newly designed steering wheels, gearshift paddles now standard.

The newly designed M leather steering wheel also feed into the
enhanced sporting allure of the interior. It has a three-spoke design
with a flat bottomed rim and a discreet centre marking in the 12
o’clock position comes as standard in the new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé
  and new BMW i4.

The M leather steering wheel in the new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé also
comes equipped with gearshift paddles as standard. The two paddles –
on the left-hand and right-hand steering wheel spokes – enable
super-swift manual interventions in the gear selection process of the
  eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission.

The M leather steering wheel in the new BMW i4 M50 xDrive also comes
with decorative stitching in BMW M colours and a red centre marker,
further adding to the performance experience in the cockpit.

  High-quality materials, adjustable ambient lighting.

Interior trim finishers in Fine-Brushed Aluminium feature as standard
in the new BMW i4 and new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé, helping to create a
premium ambience of renewed sophistication on board.

The ambient lighting – also now standard – includes contour lighting
integrated into the trim around the central seam vents. Like the
lighting for the footwells, the storage compartment in the front
section of the centre console and the door openers, this can be
adjusted for colour and brightness according to personal preference.
Users can choose from nine colours. The functionality of the interior
lighting also includes an atmospheric Welcome and Goodbye Animation
and light signals indicating an open door or incoming phone call.

The new additions to the options list also include the instrument
panel Luxury in Sensatec with a further refined surface structure,
which features on the door shoulders too. This is standard on the new
BMW i4 M50 xDrive. Load compartment capacity can be extended as
required from 470 litres to a maximum 1,290 litres.

Powertrain and charging technology: Bringing fresh energy to
    sporty driving pleasure.

The flexible drive system architecture of the gran coupé for the
premium midsize class allows it to be combined with both all-electric
drive systems and highly efficient combustion engines. The new cars
channel their power to the road via classical rear wheel drive.

Playing a key role in enhancing the sporty driving pleasure available
in the new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé is the eight-speed Steptronic Sport
transmission now fitted as standard with the combustion engines. It
offers an ultra-sharp shift action and also enables swift manual
interventions in the gear selection process. All the petrol models
feature gearshift paddles on the steering wheel for this purpose.

Chassis technology and driver assistance systems: Dynamism,
comfort, safety, and a hallmark BMW driving experience.

The extremely rigid body and chassis mountings, intelligent
lightweight design, low centre of gravity, almost perfect 50 : 50
weight distribution and optimised aerodynamic properties provide all
the necessary ingredients for a well-rounded vehicle character.

The double-joint spring strut front axle and five-link rear axle have
likewise been engineered to reduce weight while increasing rigidity.
Electromechanical steering with Servotronic function, an integrated
braking system, the DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) system and near
actuator wheel slip limitation all come as standard too.

  Model-specific chassis technology with a bespoke set-up.

The sophisticated chassis technology combines with the model-specific
design and set-up of all components to ensure an ideal blend of
sporting flair and ride comfort in all powertrain variants. In the new
BMW i4, for instance, the high-voltage battery is firmly bolted to the
floor assembly, while its casing serves as a load-bearing structural
element to maximise torsional stiffness. Like the combustion-engine
model in the new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé range, the new BMW i4 is
additionally fitted with integral tower-to-front end struts, an
aluminium shear panel at the front end and underfloor bracing elements
  in the rear axle area.

The lift-related dampers are another factor in the harmonious
handling characteristics of the new BMW i4 and new BMW 4 Series Gran
Coupé. Depending on the spring travel, these provide extra damping to
control body movement when driving over large bumps and inhibit
excessive dive. Meanwhile, the system reacts to minor imperfections in
the road surface with low damping forces that produce high levels of comfort.

All-electric new BMW i4 M50 xDrive takes pole position.

The new BMW i4 M50 xDrive embodies a particularly intense
distillation of signature M performance in all-electric guise. Its
peak output even exceeds that of the new BMW M440i xDrive Gran Coupé,
which has a six cylinder in-line petrol engine with M TwinPower Turbo
  technology under its bonnet.

Two highly integrated drive units bringing together an electric
motor, power electronics and transmission within a single housing help
the new BMW i4 M50 xDrive to top the output rankings. The electric
motor driving the rear wheels and the unit at the front axle come
together to create an electric all-wheel-drive system which is
controlled quickly and precisely to ensure effortless progress in any
driving situation. The fully variable system means power can always be
distributed to optimum effect — from highly efficient pure rear-wheel
drive through to an all wheel-drive set-up that maximises traction.

A specially designed boost function is available to the driver in
SPORT mode to initiate extremely dynamic power delivery from both
electric motors. This increases maximum combined output by 50 kW/68 hp
to 400 kW/544 hp for over 10 seconds, at the same time as boosting
maximum combined torque by 65 Nm to 795 Nm. Activating the Sport Boost
function enables the new BMW i4 M50 xDrive to sprint from rest to 100
km/h in just 3.9 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 225 km/h.

M-specific chassis technology for smile-inducing performance.

The range-topping model is equipped with chassis technology tailored
specifically to its drive system's performance characteristics. The
adaptive M suspension with electronically controlled dampers featured
on the new BMW i4 M50 xDrive include variable sport steering. Its
stunning performance capabilities are also partly down to its M Sport brakes.

  Charging in Singapore.

To make electromobility simple and straightforward for customers,
today, BMW Asia continues this partnership by offering BMW EV
customers either a comprehensive home or public charging package:

For home charging, customers will receive a BMW Wallbox with
    complimentary installation service.

For public charging, customers will receive a subscription package
of 10,000kWh over 3 years at Shell Recharge stations with no monthly
cap for charging. This is equivalent to 50,000km of driving range
(assuming average energy consumption of 20kWh/100km).

The BMW Wallbox provides a fast way to charge their vehicle at a rate
of up to 22kW. Once the vehicle is plugged in, charging begins and
will end automatically when the battery is fully charged or has
  reached its pre-determined level.

BMW Charging gives drivers access to one of the largest networks of
public charging stations located in various office buildings, shopping
malls, hotels, and industrial parks in Singapore. Activation of and
payment for the chargers can be done through an RFID card or the Shell
  Recharge smartphone app.

Wide variety of driver assistance systems.

An array of advanced assistance systems are on hand to enhance
comfort and safety when driving and parking the new BMW i4 and new BMW
4 Series Gran Coupé. The front collision warning system with brake
intervention and Cruise Control with brake function are both fitted as
standard, along with Speed Limit Info with no-overtaking indicator,
manual Speed Limit Assist and Lane Departure Warning with lane return.

Park Distance Control with sensors at both the front and rear comes
as standard, as does the Parking Assistant. This system enables
automated manoeuvring into and out of parking spaces, and also
features a Reversing Assist Camera and the Reversing Assistant. The
new BMW i4 M50 xDrive comes with Parking Assistant Plus as standard,
with Park View, Panorama View and Remote 3D View functions.

Display and control / operation system, connectivity: BMW
Operating System 8.5 and innovative digital services.

The latest generation of the BMW iDrive display and control/operation
system with QuickSeIect based on BMW Operating System 8.5 opens up a
new way of intuitively controlling vehicle functions and accessing
digital services in the new BMW i4 and new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé.
With the digital BMW Curved Display screen grouping and the expanded
capabilities of the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, the
driver-centric cockpit has been geared squarely to operation using
  touch control and natural language.

The climate control functions are also operated digitally in the new
BMW i4 and new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé, enabling a further reduction
in the number of physical buttons and controls. The control/operation
system additionally comprises multifunction buttons on the steering
wheel, the BMW iDrive Controller and the optional BMW Head-Up Display,
which is standard on the new BMW i4 M50 xDrive.

BMW iDrive with QuickSeIect: functions shown on a single level
    and selectable with rapid-access tech.

The system's QuickSeIect feature paves the way for an improved menu
structure that takes its cue from consumer electronics devices. It
allows the driver to navigate to functions directly from the newly
arranged home screen without having to enter submenus. The new, flat
menu structure makes it much easier to switch between different
functions and helps the driver to focus their attention on what's
  happening on the road.

The new home screen continuously displays the navigation system's map
view or other individually configurable graphics on the control
display. On the same level, there is a vertical bar on the driver's
side of the display containing widgets that can now be individually
selected and arranged. The new BMW i4 also includes a widget for the
charging functions. Some of the widgets can also be swiped
horizontally to show additional content. The related functions can
then be called up directly with QuickSelect. And once the relevant
settings have been chosen, a quick tap on the home icon at the lower
edge of the control display is all it takes to return to the home
screen. Icons for direct access to the climate control menu, All Apps
menu and, if activated, Apple CarPlay@ and Android AutoTM
can also now be found next to the home icon.

BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant with additional languages
    and new graphics.

At the same time, voice control using the BMW Intelligent Personal
Assistant is set to become even more interactive and intuitive in the
new BMW i4 and new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé. There is now a choice of
two different looks for the graphics visualising the digital companion
on the control display, with additional graphics also appearing here
in response to selected voice commands. For instance, the BMW
Intelligent Personal Assistant acknowledges the request to look for a
gas station nearby by showing the image of a fuel pump, enriching the
  dialogue between driver and vehicle.

BMW Maps navigation system with new charging-optimised route
    guidance and Augmented View.

The latest version of BMW Maps also gives the new BMW i4 drivers
access both from the vehicle and via the My BMW App - to improved
functions that enable charging-optimised route planning over long
journeys at a level of precision no rival can match. The charging
stops are planned so that the selected destination is reached as
quickly as possible. The driver's preferred minimum charge level when
arriving at mid-journey stops and the final destination can be
adjusted in increments of five per cent and incorporated into the
route planning. The system can also give preference to charging
stations operated by selected providers and exclude others from the
route planning at the driver's request. The system will then propose
the latter only if there seems to be no alternative for an efficient
  route without any large detours.

Additional information is provided for the selected charging
stations, such as supported connector types and payment options, as
well as the availability of sanitary, catering or shopping facilities
in the vicinity. The expected duration of the planned charging stop
and the resulting electricity costs can also be shown in advance. The
closer the vehicle gets to a scheduled mid-journey stop, the more
frequently the availability of the charging point is checked so that
an alternative route can be recommended in good time if necessary.
Regardless of the charging optimised route given, a constant stream of
alternative charging options are also displayed, e.g. for spontaneous
  mid-journey breaks.

The BMW Live Cockpit Professional, which comes as standard in the new
BMW i4 M50 xDrive, adds not only the full-colour BMW Head-Up Display,
but also the Augmented View function. This offers contextual,
real-time information to complement the navigation system's map
display by showing a live video stream of the driver's view on the
control display or instrument cluster and augmenting it with
information that is currently relevant. At confusing junctions, for
instance, an animated directional arrow is integrated into the video
image to help the driver take the best turn-off for the planned route.

Personalisation and remote access with BMW ID and My BMW App.

BMW Operating System 8.5 also makes it even easier to personalise the
user experience in the new BMW i4 and new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé.
Signing in to the vehicle by scanning a QR code with a smartphone is
all it takes to import the customer's personal profile, load
synchronisable settings and automatically link the key detected in the
  vehicle with the BMW ID.

The vehicle is also automatically added to the My BMW App. Available
free of charge from the app stores for both iOS and Android, the My
BMW App acts as a universal digital interface that provides
information on the vehicle's condition, charging status or remaining
range at any time. Depending on the car's specification, it also gives
the user access to various remote functions. For example, the vehicle
can be located remotely via the My BMW App and the doors locked and
unlocked. The Remote 3D View and Remote Inside View functions included
with the standard Parking Assistant Plus in the new BMW i4 M50 xDrive
give drivers the ability to call up a three dimensional live image of
their vehicle's immediate vicinity on their smartphone.

Besides this, the My BMW App can also be used to send destination
addresses from the user's smartphone to the vehicle's navigation
system for route planning and to initiate, purchase or extend
ConnectedDrive Upgrades. It is also possible to control the charging
process and preconditioning for the new BMW i4 from the My BMW App.
The My Trips feature including Efficiency Trainer and monthly review
provides the user with data and evaluations for distances travelled,
consumption and average speed, as well as offering helpful tips for
  driving more efficiently.

Optimum connectivity with Personal eSIM and 5G standard.

Customers of the new BMW i4 and new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé can
activate the Personal eSlM as standard - in addition to the vehicle's
built-in mobile SIM. The Personal eSlM uses the 5G mobile
communications standard and allows the customer to use the
communications and connectivity features covered by their mobile
contract, even when they don't have their smartphone with them.

All phone functions can be operated with the BMW iDrive system or the
BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant. A low-radiation connection to the
vehicle's exterior antenna is used for making phone calls and
streaming data via the Personal eSlM.

Munich. Bavarian premium carmaker BMW is using an
elaborately orchestrated brand campaign to shine the spotlight on its
wide range of fully electric vehicles, which now comprises the BMW i4,
BMW i5, BMW i7, BMW iX1, BMW iX2, BMW iX3 and BMW iX. The
multi-channel campaign is focusing communications on values that have
forever been associated with the BMW brand – exceptional dynamics,
innovative technologies, unmistakable design and supreme driving comfort.

The global campaign relies primarily on video formats. The
centrepiece of the campaign launch was a 30-second TV commercial,
which has been spun off across the brand’s social media channels –
YouTube and Instagram, in particular – and, with the help of paid
media, in the individual markets. The commercial invites the viewer to
discover the “soul” and character of BMW along a fast-paced journey
through the history of the brand: from victories in motor racing via
the brand’s distinctive design language and expertise, and its
time-honoured talent for innovation, all the way to the transformation
to electric mobility. The joy of driving has been inextricably linked
with BMW since the company was formed – and this commercial brings it
to life through the brand’s all-electric models.

The use of the hit single “Beautiful Things” by US singer Benson
Boone turns up the emotionality of the commercial another notch. The
track has exceeded 1.3 billion streams on Spotify alone and has also
been a trending sound on social media platform TikTok for several months.

The emotionally charged hero film is accompanied by a series of other
assets. For example, five reels have been produced which focus on the
brand’s core competencies – Performance, Heritage, Innovation,
Motorsport and Community. And additional reels telling inspirational
social-media stories on the various fully electric models round off
  the multi-channel campaign.

“With this emotional campaign we are celebrating the unique soul of
our brand, which has defined us since day one and which we have also
carried into our fully electric BMW vehicles,” says Bernd Körber,
Senior Vice President BMW Brand and Product Management. “After all,
our customers represent the true essence of BMW, and they experience
pure driving pleasure in all of our models.”

As well as the video content, a selection of just under 40 photo
assets showcase the fully electric models to spectacular effect in
natural surroundings – at different times of day and in different
locations. Atmospheric lighting, which enriches the motifs with warm
colours and mildly exaggerated contrasts, brings a very distinct sense
of approachability to the images. The exclusive features of the
individual models, such as the two-tone paint finish of the BMW i7,
are depicted realistically. Alongside numerous individual images
emphasising the pure joy of electric driving, a handful of pack shots
of the BMW i4, BMW i5, BMW i7, BMW iX1, BMW iX2, BMW iX3 and BMW iX in
their various configurations highlight the rich diversity of vehicles
offered by BMW across the relevant segments.

Singapore. BMW Group Asia first began its
electromobility journey back in 2014 with the groundbreaking BMW i3
and BMW i8. Today, nine years and five generations of BMW eDrive
technology later, the company broadens its portfolio of fully electric
vehicles (EVs) with the new BMW i4 eDrive35.

“The BMW i4 brings electrification to the heart of the BMW brand,”
said Mr. Lars Nielsen, Managing Director, BMW Group Asia. “It is the
perfect companion for those who value practicality, performance, and
poise, all in one sustainable package. Electromobility is gaining
traction in Singapore as the charging infrastructure develops and
OEMs, such as BMW, continue to offer more EV options. We strongly
encourage customers who are considering an EV to get behind the wheel
  – whether it be the BMW i4, i7 or iX3, once you’ve experienced the
true essence of what a fully electric BMW stands for, there is no
  turning back.”

The new BMW i4 eDrive35 expands the BMW i4 family that currently
consists of the highly successful BMW i4 M50 (best-selling BMW M
vehicle globally in 2022) and BMW i4 eDrive40. The new BMW i4 eDrive35
comes with all the latest technology – from the efficient electric
powertrain found in models such as the BMW iX and its BMW i4 siblings,
to the BMW Curved Display with Operating System 8.

The new BMW i4 eDrive35 is produced at the BMW Group Munich plant and
with this new model, the share of fully electric cars will reach 50%
of the total production volume there in 2023. Including the new BMW i4
eDrive35, the BMW Group portfolio of fully electric cars covers six
model lines with 10 powertrain derivatives in total. The BMW Group is
aiming for fully electric vehicles to account for 50% of its global
  sales by 2030.

BMW Group Asia offerings in Singapore.

Today, there are a total of six fully electric models in four
different body styles that cater to all lifestyles:

    Gran Coupé: BMW i4, BMW i4 M50

    Sedan: BMW i7

Sports Activity Vehicle: BMW iX3, BMW iX

    3-Door Hatch: MINI Electric

This is just the beginning of the company’s electric model offensive.
With the upcoming BMW i5 sedan, keen drivers will be treated to a car
that is more dynamic and comfortable than ever. It also boasts a fresh
interpretation of its signature elegantly sporting design, BMW
Operating System 8.5 with BMW Curved Display, and a suite of
  innovative digital services.

  Latest sales figures.

According to the Land Transport Authority (LTA) figures for the first
four months of 2023, BMW Group Asia sold a total of 204 fully electric
vehicles (top in the premium segment and #2 among all brands),
accounting for just over 20% of total BMW and MINI EV sales to date in
Singapore. This achievement further strengthens the company’s position
as a pioneer and leader in the electromobility space and delivers an
encouraging indicator of EV buyers’ preference for BMWs and MINIs in Singapore.

  Charging in Singapore.

There are currently more than 3,600 EV charging points island wide
with plans already in motion to further grow this figure. Singapore
aims to deploy 12,000 and 60,000 charging points by 2025 and 2030
respectively. Of these 60,000 charging points, 40,000 will be in
public carparks and the other 20,000 in private premises.

To make electromobility simple and straightforward for customers, BMW
Group Asia has been collaborating with Greenlots, a member of the
Shell Group, since 2014, to provide home and public charging options
  for customers in Singapore.

Today, BMW Group Asia continues this partnership by offering BMW i
and MINI Electric customers either a comprehensive home or public
charging package under the Shell Recharge banner.

For home charging, customers will receive a wall-mounted AC
    charger with complimentary installation service.

For public charging, customers will receive a subscription package
of 10,000 kWh over 3 years at Shell Recharge stations with no
monthly cap for charging. This is equivalent to 50,000 km of driving
range (assuming average energy consumption at 20kWh/100km).

The wall-mounted AC charger provides a fast way to charge their
vehicle at a rate of up to 11kW. Once the vehicle is plugged in,
charging begins and will end automatically when the battery is fully
charged or has reached the pre-determined level. In addition, BMW i
and MINI Electric models are compatible with all Type 2 public
charging stations that are widely available across the island.

BMW Charging and MINI Charging give drivers access to one of the
largest networks of public charging stations located in various office
buildings, shopping malls, hotels and industrial parks in Singapore.
Activation of and payment for the chargers can be done through an RFID
card or the Shell Recharge smartphone app.

  Regional footprint.

BMW currently offers electrified vehicles in 80% of the ASEAN region.
These markets include Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia,
  Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

The new BMW i4 eDrive35 is now available for viewing at all
  authorised BMW dealers in Singapore.

The first-ever BMW i4 M50 now in Singapore.

The BMW i4 M50 brings the classic M formula of agility, dynamism, and
precision to the world of electric mobility. This performance model
from BMW M GmbH uses two electric motors – one each at the front and
rear axles – to deliver a system output of 400 kW/544 hp and
high-intensity driving pleasure. Built at BMW Group Plant Munich, the
BMW i4 M50 offers purely electric drive combined with the sporting
elegance and wide-ranging functionality of a gran coupé – its supreme
everyday usability and long-distance capabilities are thanks to its
five seats, large wide-opening tailgate, and versatile luggage
compartment offering 470-1,290 litres of load space.

The BMW i4 M50 features a bespoke adaptive M suspension with
individually configured springs and dampers in the front and air
suspension at the rear, specially designed anti-roll bars, and an
additional spring strut tower brace in the front end, along with
variable sport steering, M Sport brakes, and 19” M light-alloy wheels.
The gran coupé offers highly impressive driveability in all scenarios
  – from full-blooded acceleration through high-speed cornering to
relaxed cruising. Precisely controllable response to sudden movements
of the accelerator and steering wheel reinforce the driver’s trust in
the handling agility of the BMW i4 M50.

Its fully electric all-wheel-drive system (with rear-wheel bias)
reacts with exceptional sensitivity to the speed of the wheels at each
axle, helping achieve outstanding levels of traction, directional
stability, and agility. If necessary, the system can adjust the drive
torque accordingly, without the traction control system even having to
intervene. Dynamism and comfort are both raised another notch by the
variable sport steering that is fitted as standard in the BMW i4 M50.
It combines the Servotronic function with a variable rack ratio that
also adjusts the angle the steering has to be turned to as a function
of vehicle speed. This makes the car more nimble when parking,
  manoeuvring, and taking turns.

The BMW i4 M50 also features a specially designed boost function to
bring the car’s high-performance pedigree even more to the fore. The
Sport Boost function is available whenever SPORT mode is engaged, and
increases the system’s combined drive power by 50 kW/68 hp to its
maximum of 400 kW/544 hp for over ten seconds. At the same time,
combined torque is upped by 65 Nm to 795 Nm. The electrifying burst of
speed is accompanied by a dramatic M-specific soundtrack that further
intensifies the performance experience inside the BMW i4 M50. A Launch
Control function is also available for accelerating from a standing
start with optimum traction. The BMW i4 M50 has an electronically
governed top speed of 225 km/h.

In the same vein as the BMW i4 eDrive40, the BMW i4 M50 shares the
same fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology and offers a highly
integrated electric drive system. The electric motors are free from
rare-earth materials as it does not require the use of fixed permanent
magnets. In addition, adaptive recuperation gives a boost to
efficiency and range – intelligently connected drive management allows
the intensity of the brake energy recuperation to be adapted to the
driving situation at hand, as detected by data from the navigation
system and the sensors used by the driver assistance systems. Maximum
recuperation power is 195 kW in the BMW i4 M50 (116 kW in the BMW i4 eDrive40).

On the charging front, the BMW i4 M50 features a high-voltage battery
with the fifth-generation battery cell technology, giving a gross
energy content of 83.9 kWh (net energy content: 80.7 kWh). The
Combined Charging Unit (CCU) allows for DC charging at rates of up to
205 kW, and AC charging up to 11 kW. The battery management system has
been designed to give the best balance between fast charging and
preserving longevity of the battery, with a control methodology
specially developed to significantly reduce cell aging in every state
  of the high-voltage battery.

The BMW i4 M50 is additionally available as a 50 Jahre special
edition exclusive to Singapore. This model sports the BMW Motorsport

Singapore. BMW Asia and Performance Motors Limited
today announced the availability of the first-ever BMW i4, a four-door
gran coupé that combines spaciousness and practicality with the
sporting ability for which BMW is renowned. With a range that
guarantees long journeys in comfort, BMW brings locally emission-free
driving pleasure to the midsize segment for the first time.

“The BMW i4 is finally here to satisfy the growing appetite for more
environmentally friendly vehicles in Singapore,” said Lars Nielsen,
Managing Director, BMW Group Asia. “Based on a recent survey we
conducted in Singapore, 87% of drivers believe owning electric
vehicles (EVs) will contribute to a more desirable and environmentally
conscious world by reducing carbon emissions. We completely agree and
are on track to make this happen with the i4.

With 22% of the respondents expressing interest in purchasing an EV
themselves, I am confident our first all-electric gran coupé will
quench their thirst as they look to go green.”

The launch of the first-ever BMW i4 brings electric mobility to the
heart of the BMW brand. A premium character beyond that of market
rivals is reflected in the high level of development of its drive
system and chassis technology, its elegant design, uncompromising
standards when it comes to quality of materials and workmanship and
the wide variety of individualisation options available. Added to
which, the new generation of the BMW iDrive control/operation system
and cutting-edge innovations in the area of automated driving and
parking systems further enhance the emotional richness of the driving experience.

The first-ever BMW i4 is the BMW brand's first purely electric model
focused squarely on driving dynamics from the outset. One model
variant will be available from launch. The first-ever BMW i4 eDrive40
combines a 250 kW/340 hp electric motor with classical rear-wheel
drive. Its maximum range as per the WLTP cycle is 590 kilometres.

Flexible vehicle architecture, higher level of overall coherence.

In line with the BMW Group's ongoing second phase of transformation
towards electric mobility, the development of the first-ever BMW i4
was based on a flexible vehicle architecture devised – from the
outset, for the first time – for an all-electric drive system. The
compact drive units have an elastic bearing in their respective axle
subframes. The extremely slim high-voltage battery has a cell height
of just 110 millimetres, is positioned low down in the vehicle floor
and has a fixed connection with an aluminium shear panel and the front
axle subframe. A centre of gravity up to 53 millimetres lower than
that of the BMW 3 Series Sedan, even weight distribution, a
torsionally stiff and weight-minimised body and optimised aerodynamics
(Cd: 0.24), plus a long wheelbase and wide tracks, provide the perfect
recipe for BMW's familiar sporting ability and superb long-distance comfort.

Added to which, the vehicle concept offers a very BMW solution to the
traditional clash between sportiness and long-distance ability:
Efficient drive system technology and intelligent lightweight design
enable smileinducing dynamics and a long range without the need for
  disproportionately large and heavy batteries.

The integrated application of all powertrain and chassis components
also helps give the first-ever BMW i4 a degree of design coherence its
rivals cannot match. The BMW Group's technological expertise and long
experience in the development of extremely sporty premium cars imbue
the first-ever BMW i4 with dynamic driving abilities extending far
beyond the rapid straight-line acceleration typical of a powerful
electric car. The result is effortless progress, even in challenging
driving conditions, as well as precisely controllable handling.

Model-specific chassis technology and electric all-wheel drive
    deliver dynamic thrills.

The standard chassis technology of the first-ever BMW i4 comprises a
doublejoint spring strut front axle and five-link rear axle with
bespoke tuning, lift-related dampers, electromechanical Servotronic
steering, an integrated braking system and rear air suspension.
Near-actuator wheel slip limitation optimises traction and directional
stability in all road and weather conditions. This extremely
fast-acting and precise system is fitted as standard on the first-ever
  BMW i4.

Highly integrated and efficient drive system technology.

The fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology in the first-ever BMW i4
comprises drive units which bring together the electric motor, power
electronics and transmission within a single housing. This highly
integrated electric drive system topology gives a power density of up
to 2.14 kW/kg and an exceptionally high efficiency factor.

The motors work according to the principle of an electrically excited
synchronous motor. The excitation of the rotor in the first-ever BMW
i4 motors is not induced by fixed permanent magnets, but the precisely
controlled feed-in of electric energy. The performance characteristics
of the motors are defined by their considerable torque – on tap from
pull-away and sustained over an extremely wide rev band. The drive
system in the first-ever BMW i4 eDrive40 generates peak torque of 430
  Nm, giving it a 0 – 100 km/h time of 5.7 seconds.

The sporty driving experience is accompanied by a model-specific
drive sound delivering authentic feedback to movements of the
accelerator. The standard BMW lconicSounds Electric enables
integration of new sound variants created as part of a collaboration
with film music composer Hans Zimmer.

  Adaptive and individually adjustable recuperation.

Adaptive recuperation gives the efficiency and range of the
first-ever BMW i4 an additional boost. Intelligently connected drive
management means the intensity of the brake energy recuperation can be
adapted to the road situation, as detected by data from the navigation
system and the sensors used by the driver assistance systems. For
example, when approaching a junction, recuperation power can be
increased and energy fed into the high-voltage battery while
harnessing the deceleration effect. On the open road, meanwhile, the
coasting function can cut in resulting in the first-ever BMW i4
"freewheeling" with no drive power whenever the driver eases
  off the accelerator.

Alternatively, in driving position D, a high, medium or low Brake
Energy Regeneration setting for all driving situations can be selected
in the BMW iDrive menu. In driving position B, a high level of
recuperation is activated automatically, generating the distinctive
one-pedal feeling. Maximum recuperation power is 116 kW in the
  first-ever BMW i4 eDrive40.

High-voltage battery with the latest battery cell technology.

Fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology also comprises a high-voltage
battery with the latest battery cell technology. The gravimetric
energy density of the lithium-ion battery has been increased by around
20 per cent once more in comparison with the battery in the current
BMW i3. The gross energy content of the high-voltage battery is 83.9
kWh (net energy content: 80.7 kWh).

An integrated heating and cooling system for the interior, the
highvoltage battery and the drive system – which operates using an
exceptionally efficient heat pump function – comes as standard in the
first-ever BMW i4. Anticipatory thermal management allows the
operating temperature of the high-voltage battery to be optimised
ahead of a stop at a fast-charging station, paving the way for rapid
  and efficient charging.

The Combined Charging Unit (CCU) of the first-ever BMW i4 has been
designed to enable extremely flexible battery charging. DC charging is
possible at up to 205 kW. For example, in a short mid-journey stop at
a high-power charging station, the car's range can be increased by as
much as 164 kilometres within 10 minutes from a 10 per cent charge level.

In Singapore, BMW Group Asia is partnering with Shell to offer BMW i4
customers either a comprehensive home or public charging package. For
home charging, customers will receive a wall-mounted AC charger with
complimentary installation service. For public charging, customers
will receive a subscription package of 10,000 kWh for 3 years at Shell
Recharge stations with no monthly cap for charging, which is
equivalent to 50,000 km of driving range (assuming average energy
  consumption at 20kWh/100km).

Combining BMW i design and reliability in the convenience of the
customer’s home, the wall-mounted AC charger provides a fast way to
charge their vehicle at a rate of up to 11kW. Once the vehicle is
plugged in, charging begins and will end automatically when the
battery is fully charged or has reached the pre-determined level. In
addition, the first-ever BMW i4 is compatible with all Type 2 public
charging stations that are widely available across the island.

BMW Charging, a mobility service of BMW i, gives drivers access to
one of the largest networks of public charging stations located in
various office buildings, shopping malls, hotels and industrial parks
in Singapore by using an RFID card and the Shell Recharge app that are
already enabled for Shell Recharge stations. Payment of the electric
current used is made via the Shell Recharge app.

Design: the visual expression of dynamism, elegance and sustainability.

The first-ever BMW i4 blends the customary sporting elegance of the
brand's coupes with the comfort of a four-door model and an injection
of modern functionality. The stretched proportions and clear use of
forms in its body design send out a message of exclusivity and the
dynamic flair for which BMW is renowned. And accents in BMW i Blue for
the largely blanked-off kidney grille, the battery technology in the
floor area of the car and the sporty diffuser elements – which
optimise the car's aerodynamics – highlight their
  sustainability-friendly credentials.

Short overhangs, slim pillars, doors with frameless windows and a
roofline that flows smoothly into the rear underscore a silhouette
that very much fits the BMW coupe mould. Slim headlights, available as
an option with BMW Laserlight, and the striking BMW kidney grille with
its discreetly integrated camera, ultrasonic and radar sensors are the
defining features of the front end. The first-ever BMW i4 eDrive40 in
M Sport specification (optional) employs its own distinctive design
features to underscore its performance-focused character. An M Carbon
exterior package can be ordered as an option, while modelspecific M
Performance Parts are included in the Genuine BMW Accessory range.

The interior brings a driver-focused cockpit and ambience of premium
luxury together with a generously sized, variable-use space. Acoustic
glazing and pre-conditioning come as standard, as do sport seats and a
sports steering wheel. The transmission selector lever, BMW Controller
and function keys are positioned on a control panel in the centre
console that exudes modern design. The large tailgate has an automatic
opening and closing mechanism as standard. Load compartment capacity
  is 470 – 1,290 litres.

The first-ever BMW i4 offers class-leading individualisation options
which accentuate its premium character. Seat ventilation, Vernasca
leather (standard) and BMW Individual leather trim variants, Sensatec
and leather coverings for the instrument panel, a glass slide/tilt
sunroof, ambient lighting (standard) and the Harman Kardon Surround
Sound System all play their part in enhancing driving pleasure and comfort.

Premiere for a new generation of the BMW iDrive
    control/operation system.

The new generation of the iDrive display and control/operation system
fitted for the first time in the first-ever BMW i4 extends the
interaction between driver and vehicle into natural dialogue. It is
based on the new BMW Operating System 8 and has been designed with a
clear focus on the touchscreen functionality of the BMW Curved Display
and spoken communication with the extensively upgraded BMW Intelligent
Personal Assistant. The BMW Curved Display fully digital screen
grouping brings together a 12.3-inch information display and a
14.9-inch control display behind a glass surface angled towards the
driver. The digital Intelligent Personal Assistant has gained
additional skills and uses a new graphic to communicate with the
  vehicle's occupants.

The three-zone automatic climate control system fitted as standard in
the first-ever BMW i4 uses nanofibre filter technology to purify the
air inside the car and is now controlled via a touchscreen display.
Temperature is adjusted using the intelligently coordinated activation
of airflow. Remote Software Upgrades keep the car's software up to date.

Wide variety of driver assistance systems.

Some 40 assistance functions are fitted as standard or available as
options to provide safe and comfortable driving and parking.
Highlights include Active Cruise Control with automatic Speed Limit
Assist, route monitoring and the Steering and Lane Control Assistant.

Front-collision warning, Speed Limit Info, Lane Departure Warning,
Park Distance Control and the Reversing Assist Camera and Parking
Assistant with Reversing Assistant are fitted as standard. Parking
Assistant Plus including Surround View and Remote 3D View is available
  as an option.

Flexible manufacturing at BMW Group Plant Munich, vehicle and
battery cell production using 100 per cent green energy, controlled
    procurement of raw materials.

The first-ever BMW i4 is produced as part of a flexible manufacturing
set-up at BMW Group Plant Munich on an assembly line shared with
models with combustion engines and plug-in hybrid drive systems. 100
per cent green energy is used for both vehicle production and the
  manufacture of battery cells.

The BMW Group procures the cobalt and lithium required for these
highvoltage batteries from controlled sources and then delivers it to
the battery cell suppliers. The design principle for the electric
motors allows the use of rare earth metals to be avoided in the drive
system rotors. A high proportion of secondary raw materials and
recycled materials helps to reduce the quantities of resources used in
production of the first-ever BMW i4.

The first-ever BMW i4 is now available for viewing at the Performance
  Motors Limited showroom.

Singapore. BMW Asia, Performance Motors Limited and
Performance Munich Autos today announced the availability of the
all-new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé. With the original BMW 4 Series Gran
Coupé having enjoyed significant success, a second-generation model is
now being added to the latest 4 Series range. The all-new four-door
coupé captures the imagination with its noticeably enhanced driving
dynamics, a sharper design following the BMW brand’s new design
language, a refined premium feel for its interior and a host of
innovations in the areas of operation and connectivity. In addition to
the driving pleasure and sporting elegance for which BMW is renowned,
modern functionality is central to this gran coupé concept for the
premium midsize segment. Comfortable access to the rear compartment,
five full-size seats, a large tailgate and a variable-usage load
compartment ensure the all-new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé retains its
model-specific skillset in everyday driving and on longer trips.

The performance version of the all-new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé
courtesy of BMW M GmbH is available from the car’s Singapore launch
alongside two other model variants. All are built under a flexible
manufacturing process at BMW Group Plant Munich on the same line as
the all-electric BMW i4 and the BMW 3 Series Sedan and BMW 3 Series
  Touring models.

  Distinctive proportions, highly versatile interior.

The standalone character of the all-new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé is
clearly expressed in its exterior design. Measuring 4,783 millimetres
in exterior length, 1,852 millimetres in width and 1,442 millimetres
in height, it has distinctive proportions combined with dynamically
stretched coupé lines. It is 143 millimetres longer, 27 millimetres
wider and 53 millimetres taller than its predecessor, while the track
widths have also grown – to 1,595 millimetres at the front (+50 mm)
and 1,623 millimetres at the rear (+29 mm). The wheelbase of 2,856
millimetres is 46 millimetres longer than the predecessor’s and 5
millimetres more than the figure for the 3 Series Sedan.

The model-specific body concept results in a versatile interior
offering generous amounts of space in the rear. The all-new BMW 4
Series Gran Coupé offers 470 litres of boot space, the primary
capacity in the directly viewable area of the boot having grown by 39
litres. Load capacity can be expanded to a maximum of 1,290 litres by
folding down the sections of the rear backrest, with its standard 40 :
  20 : 40 split.

Expressive front end, elegant silhouette, powerful rear.

Bold lines and surfaces with a three-dimensional structure are the
defining elements of the all-new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé’s expressive
front end. Dropping deep down at its centre is the large and
vertically prominent BMW kidney grille that transmits a feeling of
assured presence. The slim full-LED headlights come with U-shaped
fibre-optic light guides for the daytime driving lights. There is also
the option of Adaptive LED Headlights with BMW Laserlight including
BMW Selective Beam non-dazzling high beam assistant.

Precise lines, doors with frameless windows and flush-fitting
handles, and powerful shoulders shape the elegantly sporty silhouette
of the all-new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé, while the roofline culminates
in a pronounced spoiler lip on the tailgate. Horizontal lines are the
dominant influence at the rear end. And the low-slung, muscular
stature of the car is also accentuated by a rear apron with vertical
aero lips at its outer edges and a black finish for its lower edge.
The stylishly darkened full-LED rear lights extend well into the flanks.

Bespoke design features add dynamic flourishes to M Sport cars and
the BMW M model. An M Carbon exterior package can be specified as an
option, and model-specific M Performance Parts are available as part
of the Genuine BMW Accessory range.

Interior: driving pleasure and spaciousness amid a premium
    ambience.

Inside the all-new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé, the high centre console
and flowing surface structure running from the instrument panel into
the door panels generate a cocooning feel in the front seats. The
Start/Stop button for the engine is positioned in a classily designed
control panel in the centre console, which also houses the BMW
Controller and the buttons for the Driving Experience Control unit and
electromechanical parking brake alongside the model-specific gearshift
lever. The rear seat bench with folding head restraints allows three
  child seats to be fitted.

M Sport seats and an M Leather steering wheel come as standard on the
all-new BMW M440i xDrive Gran Coupé and BMW 430i Gran Coupé M Sport
Pro. The list of optional equipment provides extensive scope for
individualisation. Driving pleasure and comfort can be enhanced with
features such as seat ventilation, Vernasca (optional on the all-new
BMW 420i Gran Coupé) and BMW Individual leather trim options, Sensatec
or leather coverings for the instrument panel, a large glass
slide/tilt sunroof (standard on the BMW 430i Gran Coupé M Sport Pro)
and the Harman Kardon Surround Sound System (standard on the all-new
BMW M440i xDrive Gran Coupé and BMW 430i Gran Coupé M Sport Pro).

State-of-the-art four- and six-cylinder engines and 48V mild
hybrid technology provide clear boost for dynamism and efficiency.

The all-new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé underscores its vividly enhanced
sporting credentials with a performance model at the top of the range.
The all-new BMW M440i xDrive Gran Coupé is powered by a 275 kW/374 hp
  six-cylinder in-line petrol engine. The all-new BMW 430i Gran Coupé M
Sport Pro gives a debut to a new four-cylinder petrol engine which
develops 180 kW/245 hp and has an exhaust manifold integrated into the
cylinder head to further reduce emission levels. The four-cylinder
petrol engine in the all-new BMW 420i Gran Coupé produces maximum
  output of 135 kW/184 hp.

In the all-new BMW M440i xDrive Gran Coupé, mild hybrid technology
further increases dynamism and efficiency. The 48V starter-generator
puts an extra 8 kW/11 hp on tap when accelerating off the line or
putting in a quick burst of speed. An additional battery helps to
further expand the scope for regenerating and storing brake energy.

The standard eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission complements
its sharper shift dynamics and shift paddles on the steering wheel
with a Sprint function (standard on the all-new BMW M440i xDrive Gran
Coupé and BMW 430i Gran Coupé M Sport Pro). This prompts the
powertrain and shift characteristics to maximise dynamic performance
when putting in a sudden burst of speed or overtaking.

High body rigidity, optimised aerodynamic attributes.

The sporting characteristics of the all-new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé
are also well served by a low centre of gravity and almost 50 : 50
weight distribution. An intelligent material mix has been employed to
optimise the weight of both the body and chassis technology. And the
bespoke body struts at the front end and in the rear axle area can
also take credit for the car’s superb handling agility and precision.

An active air flap control system comprising flaps at the top and
bottom, plus air curtains and an almost completely sealed underbody
optimise the car’s aerodynamics. The drag coefficient (Cd) of 0.26
measured for the all-new BMW 420i Gran Coupé, for example, represents
a reduction of 0.02 over its predecessor.

Sophisticated chassis technology with model-specific tuning.

Model-specific geometry, mounting and tuning for the sophisticated
chassis technology in the all-new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé imbue it
with exceptional dynamic assurance. The two-joint spring strut front
axle and five-link rear axle have likewise been engineered to reduce
weight while increasing rigidity. Standard-fitted lift-related dampers
enhance both sports performance and ride comfort. Depending on the
spring travel, these provide extra damping to control body movement
when driving over large bumps, as well as preventing excessive dive.
The system reacts to minor imperfections in the road surface with low
damping forces that produce high levels of comfort.

The lift-related dampers are particularly firm in nature on the
all-new BMW 420i Gran Coupé with the standard M Sport suspension
specified. The adaptive M suspension (standard on the all-new BMW
M440i xDrive Gran Coupé and BMW 430i Gran Coupé M Sport Pro) combines
the characteristics of M Sport suspension with electronically
controlled dampers, and therefore offers the widest possible range of
driving experiences on the sporty-to-comfortable spectrum. Variable
sport steering is included with both suspension variants. Also
available as an option are M Sport brakes (standard on the all-new BMW
M440i xDrive Gran Coupé and BMW 430i Gran Coupé M Sport Pro).

The all-new BMW 420i Gran Coupé comes as standard with 18-inch M
light-alloy wheels. Standard specification for the all-new BMW M440i
xDrive Gran Coupé and BMW 430i Gran Coupé M Sport Pro includes 19-inch
M light-alloy wheels and an M Sport differential (optional on the
all-new BMW 430i Gran Coupé M Sport Pro) with electronically
controlled, fully variable locking function in the rear differential.

Wide array of driver assistance systems.

Some 40 assistance functions designed to enable comfortable and safe
driving and parking are available as standard or options for the
all-new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé. Highlights include Active Cruise
Control with automatic Speed Limit Assist, route monitoring, plus
  Steering and Lane Control Assistant.

Standard specification comprises front collision warning, Speed Limit
Info, Lane Departure Warning, Park Distance Control, the Reversing
Assist Camera and Parking Assistant with Reversing Assistant. Parking
Assistant Plus with Surround View and Remote 3D View can also be
  ordered as an option.

Advanced connectivity and new digital services.

The driver and passengers in the all-new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé
benefit from the extended possibilities provided by BMW Operating
System 7 as standard. Customers can take their pick of control
interface for the situation at hand: control display touchscreen,
familiar BMW Controller, multifunction buttons on the steering wheel,
voice control or optional BMW gesture control. There is also access to
a range of highly advanced digital services, including the BMW
Intelligent Personal Assistant, BMW Digital Key and Remote Software Upgrades.

The standard-fitted BMW Live Cockpit Professional features a fully
digital screen grouping including a high-resolution instrument cluster
with a screen diagonal of 12.3 inches behind the steering wheel and a
  10.25-inch control display.

With smartphone integration fitted as standard, customers can use
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto via the car’s operating system. And the
Remote Software Upgrades function allows improved vehicle functions
and additional digital services to be imported into the car over the air.

The all-new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé is now available for viewing at
the Performance Motors Limited and Performance Munich Autos showrooms.

Singapore. BMW Group Asia is celebrating seven
years of electrification in Singapore with the launch of the
first-ever fully electric BMW iX3. With three electric vehicles
(EVs) consisting of the BMW i3s, MINI Electric and now the BMW iX3,
alongside five plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) from the BMW
330e to the BMW X5 xDrive45e, BMW Group Asia continues to provide
the largest range of electrified vehicles in Singapore compared with
    any other brand.

“This is a big milestone for the BMW brand, as customers in
Singapore now have the power of choice when it comes to the BMW X3,”
said Mr. Christopher Wehner, Managing Director, BMW Group Asia.
“Customers have three drivetrains to choose from – internal
combustion engine, PHEV and EV. Depending on your lifestyle, where
you live and the infrastructure available to you, we have something
    for everyone.

The best part is this is only the beginning! In the next six
months, we will be introducing two more fully electric vehicles –
the first-ever BMW iX and BMW i4. Beyond that, customers can expect
more electrified models arriving on our shores in 2022, delivering
the BMW driving experience they know and love, but with an electric kick.”

BMW Group Asia is also providing customers with the complete
solution – from a comprehensive charging package and qualified EV
service technicians, to the recycling of EV batteries.

For instance, with every purchase of the BMW iX3, customers will
    receive the following:

BMW Wallbox Plus

Home installation service

5-year warranty / 100,000km

6-year servicing inclusive (no mileage limit)

8-year high-voltage-battery warranty / 160,000km

BMW ConnectedDrive services to monitor charging status remotely.

BMW-certified EV service technicians are also on hand to give
customers the peace of mind that their EVs are in good hands. Each
technician is required to undergo up to seven levels of specialised
training to proficiently perform work on live components of an EV.
Performance Motors Limited has the largest team of certified
High-Voltage Technicians and High-Voltage Experts in the BMW Group
  Asia region.

Finally, BMW Group Asia is proud to be working with TES, who recently
    opened
Southeast Asia’s First Battery Recycling Facility, to ensure EV
  batteries are recycled at end-of-life.

“TES has been working with BMW Group Asia since 2019, to ensure that
batteries from their electrified vehicles are properly transported and
processed,” added Thomas Holberg, Global Vice President, TES
Sustainable Battery Solutions. “Our proprietary lithium-ion battery
recycling process extracts the precious metals found within these
batteries, creating a closed loop solution and allowing them to
  re-enter the manufacturing supply chain.”

Mr. Fernando Ferrer, Customer Support Director, BMW Group Asia
commented, “It is not enough to simply offer electrified vehicles in
the market. As an organisation committed to environmental
sustainability, it is important to focus not only on providing the
most efficient battery cell, but also on its entire value chain. Our
partnership with TES is critical to our overall electrified offering
in Singapore and further demonstrates our holistic approach to
safeguarding the earth for future generations.”

  7 facts

    The first-ever BMW i4

All-electric mobility reaches the very heart of the BMW brand.
The BMW i4 is the brand’s first electric vehicle focused squarely
on driving dynamics. Locally emission-free driving pleasure,
      compromise-free premium quality and customer-oriented
individualisation come to the traditional core of the midsize
segment for the first time. The BMW i4 combines BMW’s fabled
sporting prowess and a range that also convinces over long
journeys with the elegant design, spaciousness and practicality of
      a four-door Gran Coupé.

Market launch gets underway in November 2021 with two
model variants: BMW i4 M50 (electric power consumption combined:
      24 – 19 kWh/100 km [62 miles] in the WLTP cycle;
CO2 emissions of 0 g/km) – the first purely electric
performance car from BMW M GmbH, with 400 kW/544 hp, all-wheel
drive and a range of up to 510 kilometres (317 miles) in the WLTP
cycle; BMW i4 eDrive40 (electric power consumption combined:
      20 – 16 kWh/100 km [62 miles] in the WLTP cycle;
      CO2 emissions von 0 g/km) with 250 kW/340 hp, classical
rear-wheel drive and a range of up to 590 kilometres (367 miles)
      in the WLTP cycle.

Integrated application of all powertrain and chassis components,
using decades of expertise build up by an established maker of
exceptionally sporty premium cars, creates a degree of design
coherence rivals cannot match. Familiar BMW dynamic driving
abilities extending far beyond rapid acceleration in a straight
line combine with sublime long-distance comfort.

Hallmark BMW solution to the clash between sportiness and
long-distance ability: efficient drive system technology and
intelligent lightweight design enable smile-inducing dynamics and
a long range without the need for disproportionately large and
      heavy batteries.

The BMW i4 is based on a flexible vehicle architecture conceived
from the outset for a purely electric drive system. Long wheelbase
and wide tracks. Weight-minimised yet extremely stiff body
structure. Model-specific torsion struts, aluminium shear panel
and front axle subframe have fixed connection with the casing of
the high-voltage battery. Optimised aerodynamics with
      Cd of 0.24.

Newly designed chassis technology attuned precisely to the
vehicle concept uses a double-joint spring strut front axle and
five-link rear axle. Lift-related dampers and rear-axle air
suspension come as standard. Near-actuator wheel slip limitation
(also teamed for the first time with electric all-wheel drive)
delivers outstanding traction and directional stability in
extremely dynamic driving manoeuvres. BMW i4 M50 also features
model-specific adaptive M suspension, variable sport steering, M
Sport braking system and optional M light-alloy wheels (up to 20-inch).

Fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology with highly integrated
unit of electric motor, power electronics and transmission and the
latest battery cell technology. Electric motors work according to
the principle of an electrically excited synchronous unit. Power
density of up to 2.14 kW/kg; instantaneous power delivery,
sustained over a broad rev band.

BMW i4 M50 with Sport Boost for ultra-dynamic power delivery
from the two electric motors with peak output and maximum system
      torque of 795 Nm (586 lb-ft). Acceleration of 0 to 100 km/h (62
mph) in 3.9 seconds. BMW i4 eDrive40 with maximum system torque of
      430 Nm (317 lb-ft) and 0 – 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.7 seconds.

Model-specific drive sound delivers authentic feedback to
movement of the accelerator and speed. BMW i4 M50 with extremely
energy-charged soundtrack. Optional BMW IconicSounds Electric
enables integration of new sound variants created as part of a
collaboration with film music composer Hans Zimmer.

Slim high-voltage battery specially designed for the BMW i4
and positioned low down in the vehicle floor with extremely
low cell height of 110 millimetres. Vehicle centre of gravity
up to 53 millimetres lower than in the BMW 3 Series Sedan.
      Gross energy content: 83.9 kWh.

Adaptive or individually adjustable recuperation of braking
energy increases efficiency and enables one-pedal feeling plus the
use of the coasting function depending on need and the traffic situation.

Integral heating and cooling system with heat pump function for
the interior, high-voltage battery and drive system. Anticipatory
thermal management for the high-voltage battery optimises charging efficiency.

Combined Charging Unit allows use of DC fast-charging stations
with output of up to 200 kW. Range can be increased by as much as
      164 kilometres / 102 miles (BMW i4 eDrive40) and 140 kilometres /
87 miles (BMW i4 M50) within 10 minutes at stations of this kind.
BMW Charging with special rates for public charging stations and
      IONITY high-power charging stations.

BMW i4 is new byword for sustainable sportiness, comfort and
everyday usability in the premium midsize segment. Gran Coupé
vehicle concept combines sedan-level ride comfort with modern
functionality. Elegantly sporting design with stretched coupé
proportions, a flowing roofline, four doors with frameless windows
      and a large tailgate.

Largely blanked-off front end and striking BMW kidney grille
with discreetly integrated camera, ultrasonic and radar sensors.
Slim headlights, optionally with BMW Laserlight. Colour accents
in BMW i Blue. BMW i4 eDrive40 in M Sport specification and
      BMW i4 M50 with bespoke performance-led cues. M Carbon
exterior package and M Performance Parts available from launch.

Luxurious premium ambience and variable-use interior space.
Acoustic glazing, pre-heating and pre-conditioning, Sport seats
and sports steering wheel as standard. Centre console with
modern-design control panel for the gear selector lever, BMW
Controller and function keys. Large tailgate comes as standard
with electric opening and closing mechanism. Load compartment
capacity of 470 litres can be expanded up to a maximum
1,290 litres. Electrically extendable and retractable trailer tow
hitch optional. Permissible trailer load: 1,600 kilograms.

Wide array of individualisation options as is typical of premium

Munich. The character of the Concept i4 is not only a
product of its design, but also of its visionary sound profile. Hans
Zimmer composed the sound of the BMW Concept i4 together with BMW
sound designer Renzo Vitale under the brand name BMW IconicSounds
Electric. BMW IconicSounds Electric will imbue BMW’s electric models
with extra emotional depth by connecting the driver with the vehicle’s
character on another level through individual tones and sounds.

“Renzo and I were inspired to bring together the past and future of
BMW with the sound for the BMW Concept i4,” explains Zimmer. “We hope
the sound we created is classic yet surprising and has a feeling of
lightness that is fitting for the BMW brand.” The aural repertoire of
the BMW Concept i4 stretches from the driving sounds in the Experience
Mode “Core” to the more intense tones of “Sport”. Acoustic
accompaniments to a door opening and when starting the car are
  likewise part of its soundscape.

Sound by Hans Zimmer is the starting signal for electric
    driving pleasure.

Hans Zimmer and Renzo Vitale presented the new start/stop sound in
Zimmer’s Santa Monica studio back in November 2019. The ready-to-drive
sound for all-electric BMW models and BMW plug-in hybrids will be
introduced as a standard feature worldwide from July 2020. “The
ability to design the sound in our vehicles makes it possible for us
to spark positive emotions,” says Vitale. “The new start/stop sound is
intended to instil a sense of excitement at the prospect of electric
driving when the customer gets into their vehicle and begins the journey.”

  BMW IconicSounds Electric.

The silence of electric drive systems is often cited as a major
benefit of electric mobility. As the choice of electrified models
increases, however, it also means some drivers are missing out on the
emotional appeal of sound. Jens Thiemer, Senior Vice President
Customer and Brand BMW: “Sound has always played an important role in
the emotionalisation of our vehicles. Now we are taking the joy of
sheer driving pleasure to a new level and are particularly pleased to
be working with Hans Zimmer to create the new sound world of electric
mobility at BMW. This collaboration will result in our forward-looking
sound offering for electrified vehicles: BMW IconicSounds Electric.”

The BMW Concept i4 drive sound is the second developed for electric
BMW vehicles with Hans Zimmer, following the presentation of the
electric sound for the BMW Vision M NEXT at the #NEXTGen event in
Munich in June 2019. “We have an extraordinary opportunity to turn
electric driving in a BMW into a very special experience with the help
of great sounds,” Zimmer commented in 2019. “I am relishing the
challenge of co-designing the composition for future electric BMWs.”

heralds a new era in Sheer Driving Pleasure. The BMW Concept i4
represents a look ahead to the BMW i4, slated to enter production in
2021. It provides a whole new take on the dynamic excellence for which
BMW is renowned and blends a modern, elegantly sporty design with the
spaciousness and functionality of a four-door Gran Coupe – all while
  generating zero local emissions.

“The BMW Concept i4 brings electrification to the core of the BMW
brand,” says Adrian van Hooydonk, Senior Vice President BMW Group
Design. “The design is dynamic, clean and elegant. In short: a perfect
BMW that happens to be zero emission.” The drivetrain’s standout
numbers include a range of up to 600 km (WLTP), output of up to 530
  hp, 0 – 100 km/h (0 – 60 mph) acceleration of approximately 4.0
seconds and a top speed in excess of 200 km/h (124 mph). However, the
driving qualities of the BMW Concept i4 cannot be expressed in figures
alone. The virtually silent delivery of power creates an entirely new
  sensation of dynamism.

“The design of the BMW Concept i4 shows fantastic proportions, a
powerfully expressive character and, of course, a lot of attention to
detail,” adds Domagoj Dukec, Head of BMW Design. “With the BMW Curved
Display, we have redefined BMW’s signature driver focus in an
extremely elegant way. At the same time, the BMW Concept i4 transports
a feeling of sustainable driving pleasure.” As part of the package,
the Concept i4 includes several exterior and interior design elements
which will make an appearance in both the BMW i4 and other
  electrically-powered production vehicles.

  The exterior – electrifying aesthetics.

The modern, elegant exterior represents a deliberate counterpoint to
the dynamic flair of the driving experience. The perfectly resolved
Gran Coupe proportions create an authentic, modern and confident
appearance. The long wheelbase, fastback roofline and short overhangs
form a basic profile brimming with elegance and dynamism. With its
four doors, the BMW Concept i4 offers not only a high level of
everyday usability and practicality, but also a much larger interior
than the car’s modern and dynamic proportions would immediately suggest.

  Clear surfaces and aerodynamic details.

Crisp, smooth lines and taut volumes merge into a rich, smoothly
contoured sculpture and create a clear surfacing language. The modern
exterior paint shade Frozen Light Copper reprises a colour nuance
displayed by the BMW Vision iNEXT and showcases the interplay of
surfaces to visually stunning effect. Blue elements in the front end,
flanks and rear end point to the car’s BMW i origins. They shine a
spotlight on the signature BMW i icons and bring the technology below
the surface to the fore – for example, the kidneys in their role as an
intelligence panel, the mouldings in the side skirts concealing the
battery technology, and the diffuser elements in the rear end, which
fill the design space vacated by exhaust tailpipes and enhance
  aerodynamic efficiency.

A host of other aerodynamic measures maximise the car’s electric
range. The blanked off kidney grille and clear aero lips provide
detail examples of sophisticated airflow engineering at work. Another
distinctive area of the car are the wheel rims. These have been
designed exclusively for the BMW Concept i4 and blend aerodynamic and
lightweight design; smooth – and therefore aerodynamically optimised –
surfaces contrast with ultra-low-weight, high-strength spokes. The
rims extend the car’s palette of colours and materials, emphasising
  its luxurious overall character.

The front end – the eye-catching face of a new era.

The front-end treatment of the BMW Concept i4 presents the familiar
BMW icons in a new look, lending a visually powerful face to the
electric age at BMW. The prominent, closed-off kidney grille provides
a tangible connection between the past and future of BMW. The BMW icon
also gains new functionality: With no combustion engine to require
cooling, the grille now serves primarily as an “intelligence panel”
housing various sensors. The grille teases the technology behind the
scenes with a special design for this model. The headlights likewise
provide a bridge between the past and the future; the classical
four-eyed front end is reprised here with a very modern and pared-back
interpretation. Two intricate, freestanding LED elements on either
side integrate all of the requisite light functions. Clean surfaces
and a small number of crisp lines around the grille create a
contemporary front-end graphic with considerable visual impact. A BMW
i-style blue accent in the grille surround sets the seal on the
  front-end styling.

Taking the first steps with the new BMW brand identity.

In the course of the BMW Concept i4 presentation BMW is unveiling the
brand’s new look for the first time. The new logo for communications
also provides the basis for the badge on the BMW Concept i4. Its
two-dimensional and transparent design ensures seamless integration
and brings the special exterior colour shade Frozen Light Copper to
even greater prominence. The concept car not only has the task of
looking ahead to the future in terms of aesthetics, technology and
innovation, it also explores the design potential within our BMW trademark.

Striking rear end with aerodynamic features.

The rear of the BMW Concept i4 sits low over the road and cuts a
broad, horizontally emphasised figure. The surfaces progress across
the rear in a smooth and luxuriant movement, and give it a very modern
and calm appearance. The long, slim L-shaped rear lights continue the
theme. Below the rear lights, the inward-angled surfaces form
aerodynamics-enhancing lips and incorporate vertical air outlets. The
verticality of the design here emphasises the car’s sporting stance.
Further down, the rear apron has a forceful presence and enhances
aerodynamic efficiency. Where exhaust tailpipes would once have been
found, diffuser elements in BMW i Blue indicate the presence of a
pure-electric drive system and reference the design of the BMW i
  Vision Dynamics.

The interior – innovation meets minimalism.

The interior of the BMW Concept i4 focuses on those times when the
driver chooses to pilot the car themselves. To this end, every element
in the front of the cabin is trained on the driver. The new BMW Curved
Display teams up with the steering wheel to reveal a new take on
driver orientation and offers a look ahead to the display in the
production versions of the BMW iNEXT and BMW i4. Here, the
presentation surfaces of the information display and Control Display
merge into a single unit inclined towards the driver. This screen
grouping optimises presentation of information and makes the display’s
touch operation more intuitive. Advanced display tech with
non-reflective glass also removes the need for a shroud to shade the
displays and therefore contributes to an extremely uncluttered and
  airy cockpit.

The BMW Curved Display encompasses a large proportion of the section
in front of the driver and above the centre stack, and gives the front
area a very modern appearance. Its slim, borderless form exudes
quality and sophistication. Almost all operating functions are
integrated into the display as part of an overall approach centred on
reducing the number of haptic controls to the minimum. Even the
climate control system now works by touch control.

  Focus on the essential.

The front section of the interior around the BMW Curved Display also
majors on pared-back design. The understated use of different
materials and the fundamental arrangement of controls creates a modern
yet also luxurious ambience. With this in mind, elements such as air
outlets are integrated almost invisibly into the overall geometry and
  concealed behind strong patterns.

Accent strips in warm Gold Bronze blending to chrome lend the
interior a high-class touch. The central control panel replaces a
traditional gear lever with a toggle-type shifter. Elements such as
the iDrive Controller and seat memory buttons in the doors are
finished in a classy crystal glass. The cloth/leather combination for
the seats – composed of microfibre with line graphics and natural
leather tanned using olive leaf – sets a high-quality and sustainable
seal on the interior. The overall result is a clearly structured,
bright and airy cabin which brings across the tranquillity and
  authority of electric drive systems.

  Spacious rear compartment.

Rear-seat passengers are greeted by a generously-sized compartment
offering levels of headroom and legroom that exceed expectations of a
coupe. Integral head restraints for the front and rear seats add
further to the sporting feel. The cut-out in the head restraints is a
classy detail that references sporty BMW models from the current line-up.

The rear seats extend the horizontal graphic emerging from the doors
to create a lounge feel in the rear. Meanwhile, the outer seats
reprise the dynamic form of the front seats, heightening the sporting
flavour. They also use very little stitching, which further emphasises
  the clean and modern feel.

Further developed user interface design with Experience Modes.

The screen grouping with new BMW Curved Display provides a digital
gateway into the electric age at BMW. Look and feel are clearly
influenced by the latest electronic devices and have been made
deliberately less “automotive” in nature. In the display itself, flat
layers provide considerable visual depth. Overall, the BMW Curved
Display and new presentation approach combine to provide a first-class
  content-viewing experience.

Three different Experience Modes enable users to explore the various
facets of the electric drive system and provide a look ahead – in
terms of visuals at least – to the next-generation operating system
from 2021. The sometimes emphasised visual differentiation between the
three Experience Modes (“Core”, “Sport” and “Efficient”) spans
everything from how the user experiences the display and graphics to
how the interior is presented. Ambient lighting in the dashboard,
doors and (indirectly) below the display indicate the technical
  adjustments taking place.

“Core” mode introduces the driver’s area to an updated interpretation
of the four “widgets” familiar from the display concept of existing
models. Here, the graphics reprise the pattern above the air vents and
the Gold Bronze accent colour, consciously referencing the car’s
interior design. In the area where the central display used to be
positioned, a map and widgets now line up alongside one another. The
user can navigate around the diagonal widgets using a swipe movement
and arrange them intuitively by drag-and-drop. This allows them to
adapt the display to their personal preferences.

In “Sport” mode, the “widgets” come closer together and create a
focussed view. Sideways movements behind the zones are used to show
how tight the next corner is, facilitating anticipatory driving. This
form of content presentation also allows effective peripheral viewing.
The right-hand area of the display shows specific functions in a
similar way to BMW M’s lap timer app.

“Efficient” mode debuts an “Assisted Driving View”, which shows the
driver what the car’s sensors are detecting. This Experience Mode
opens up deeper insights into the car’s technology, such as how it
communicates with its surroundings. In the BMW Concept i4, the focus
here is on anticipatory and efficient driving, and key information for
efficient driving is incorporated. The right-hand area of the display
shows additional vehicle information, such as the charge level and range.

The sound of the BMW Concept i4.

The BMW Concept i4 is not only characterised by its individual
design, but also by its own visionary and unique sound. It was
developed under the brand name of BMW IconicSounds Electric by world
renowned composer Hans Zimmer together with BMW Sound Designer Renzo
Vitale. BMW IconicSounds Electric aims to emotionalise BMW's electric
vehicles and make them audible using individual sound worlds. The
sound of the BMW Concept i4 achieves this to perfection – it combines
BMW’s past and future. It gives the driver the feeling that there
are no limits of expression. The sound is manifold, surprising and
it provides a sense of lightness and transparency. The sound worlds of
the BMW Concept i4 range from the driving sounds in "Core"
mode to the more intense and pronounced sounds of "Sport"
mode. Also included are the sounds of the door opening and the
  starting scenario.

The technology as earmarked for the upcoming BMW i4.

Fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology is a defining feature of the
BMW i4 and therefore also of future electric mobility. The BMW iX3 due
to go into production in 2020 will lead the way in the application of
the new tech, which will be introduced in a number of electrically
powered BMW vehicles – such as the BMW iNEXT and BMW i4. The electric
motor, power electronics, charging unit and high-voltage battery using
fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology are all-new developments
enabling the BMW Group to take another significant step forward in the
field of electrified drive systems. The electric motor developed for
the BMW i4 generates maximum output of up to 390 kW/530 hp, which
ranks it alongside a current BMW V8 combustion engine. Its
instantaneous power delivery gives the BMW i4 standout performance
  attributes and exceptional efficiency.

The fifth generation of BMW eDrive also brings a newly designed
high-voltage battery with the very latest battery cell technology. The
version of the battery developed for the BMW i4 impresses with its
extremely slim construction and optimised energy density. It weighs
roughly 550 kilograms, has an energy content of around 80 kWh and
achieves an operating range of up to 600 km in the WLTP cycle.

All in all, fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology sets new standards
in terms of power density, efficiency and range in locally
  emission-free driving.

Series production of the new BMW i4.

Series production of the new BMW i4 will begin in 2021 at the BMW
Group’s main plant in Munich. This means that, in the future,
  combustion-engined vehicles, plug-in hybrids and all-electric vehicles
will be manufactured on the same assembly line in Munich.

Integrating the BMW i4 into the existing production system represents
a challenging task for Plant Munich. The body concept of the BMW i4
differs from the architectures of the vehicle models produced at the
plant to date due to the need to accommodate its high-voltage battery.
Approximately 90 per cent of the existing production equipment in the
body shop can be incorporated into the process, i.e. adapted to
manufacture of the i4. However, the remaining ten per cent –
especially the machinery involved in building the rear structure –
will need to be newly built.

A separate new piece of equipment will be fitted in the assembly
halls for installation of the high-voltage battery, as the battery
needs to be fitted in the car from below. A particular challenge in
the conversion/installation process are the crowded structures of the
assembly halls. Working within these tight confines, old machinery
will have to be removed and new equipment installed and brought on
stream within a six-week period. This requires long-term planning and
  precise implementation.

The company is investing a total of around 200 million euros in Plant
Munich to bring series production of the BMW i4 to fruition.

Press Contact: Amanda Poh
Tel: +65-6838-9629
E-mail: amanda.poh@bmwasia.com

Press Kit,G26,i4,Product,BMW

Munich. The heart of the BMW brand beats in the
premium segment of the mid-range category. Along with the BMW 4
Series Coupé, BMW 4 Series Convertible and BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé
models, it is the BMW 3 Series that brings out the qualities that
are key to hallmark brand driving pleasure in a particularly
concentrated form. Now BMW is transferring the brand's
characteristic core features to the age of electric mobility – the
central purpose in developing the BMW i4. The BMW Group's first
purely electrically powered model for the premium mid-range combines
driving dynamics, sporty and elegant design, premium quality and the
spacious comfort and functionality of a four-door Gran Coupé with
locally emissions-free mobility. This heralds a new era of driving pleasure.

The future of electric mobility will be shaped by fifth-generation
BMW eDrive technology, for which the BMW iX3 – to be produced from
2020 onwards – will act as a pioneer, followed by the BMW iNEXT and
the BMW i4. With fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology, which also
includes the latest innovations in the field of battery cells, the
BMW i4 sets new standards in sporty performance, achieving a range
    of some 600 kilometres.

The development of the BMW i4 is part of a comprehensive product
offensive by the BMW Group in the field of models with electrified
drive. The company currently has the biggest range of all-electric
and plug-in hybrid models within the competitive field. By 2023, the
BMW Group will have 25 models with electrified drive in its program.
With a model portfolio that includes efficient combustion engines as
well as modern plug-in hybrid and purely electric drive, the BMW
Group as a globally operating company is taking into account the
varying requirements and preferences of its customers in different
regions of the world. Irrespective of the type of drive selected,
all current and future models feature hallmark brand driving
pleasure as part of their specific characteristics.

Fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology for optimised
      dynamics, efficiency and range.

The drive technology of the BMW i4 sets new standards in terms of
power density, efficiency and range in locally emissions-free
driving. The electric motor, power electronics, charging unit and
high-voltage battery have been entirely newly developed. Together
they form the BMW eDrive technology of the fifth generation, with
which the BMW Group has made further significant advancements in the
field of electrified drive. From 2020 onwards, fifth-generation BMW
eDrive technology will be introduced first in the BMW iX3 and then
in the BMW iNEXT and BMW i4. The electric motor developed for the
BMW i4 delivers a maximum output of around 390 kW/530 hp, reaching
the level of a V8 engine in current BMW models fitted with a
combustion engine. Its spontaneous power delivery gives the BMW i4
outstanding performance characteristics and exceptionally high efficiency.

The fifth generation of BMW eDrive also includes a newly designed
high-voltage battery featuring the latest battery cell technology.
The design of the high-voltage battery developed for the BMW i4 is
characterised by its extremely flat design and optimised energy
density. With a weight of some 550 kilograms, it has an energy
content of around 80 kWh. This gives the BMW i4 a range of
    approximately 600 kilometres.

Gran Coupé with characteristic design and performance features.

The all-electric BMW i4 will be produced from 2021 onwards and
subsequently launched on the global automotive markets. The new
model will be manufactured at the company's main plant in Munich,
where other vehicles produced include the BMW 3 Series Sedan with
conventional combustion engine and plug-in hybrid drive, the BMW 3
Series Touring with conventional drive and from summer 2020 also
with plug-in hybrid drive, the BMW 4 Series Coupé and the BMW M4
Coupé (fuel consumption combined: 10.0 – 9.3 l/100 km; combined
    CO2 emissions: 227 – 213 g/km). In addition to the
sporty, elegant design that is typical of a 4-door coupé of the
brand, the BMW i4 is characterised by impressive performance
features. The BMW i brand's first Gran Coupé accelerates from zero
to 100 km/h in around 4.0 seconds, achieving a top speed of more
    than 200 km/h.

A flexible vehicle architecture, the flat, low-positioned
high-voltage battery and the compact drive technology create a high
degree of freedom in realising a model-specific design. The BMW i4
combines the characteristic proportions of a 4-door coupé with the
typical design features of a BMW i model. Dynamically stretched
lines and a precise surface design go hand in hand with
aerodynamically optimised exterior features as well as
sustainability accentuations that are specific to BMW i. High entry
and exit comfort for the rear passengers and a spacious, variable
interior ensure high suitability for both day-to-day trips and
long-distance travel. As such, the BMW i4 can be clearly identified
as a BMW Gran Coupé – and equally clearly as an electrically powered vehicle.

Modular, flexible drive and battery storage technology.

The electric drive component of the BMW i4, its charging unit and
high-voltage battery are all developed in-house by the BMW Group.
Production is carried out in-house or according to BMW Group
specifications. Here, the experience gained from development of the
previous generations of BMW eDrive technology is consistently tapped
into with the aim of optimising all components on an ongoing basis.

The BMW Group's comprehensive expertise in the field of electrified
drive systems forms the basis for a scalable modular system whose
components can be integrated into different vehicle concepts with
great flexibility. Fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology comprises
a highly integrated drive system in which the electric motor,
transmission and power electronics are accommodated in a single
housing. This drive system is compatible with all vehicle concepts
and will be available for different models in a range of output
levels. The highly integrated design of the system allows a
significant increase in power density as well as a reduction in
weight and manufacturing effort. Production of future-generation
electric motors will no longer require materials categorised as rare earths.

The next generation charging unit is characterised by a uniform
package suitable for all future vehicle architectures. It can be
used in plug-in hybrid models as well as in purely electrically
powered vehicles and is designed for a charging capacity of up to
150 kW. This allows the high-voltage battery of the BMW i4 to be
charged to around 80 per cent of its full energy content in around
35 minutes. This results in a charging time of around six minutes
for a range of 100 kilometres.

In the field of high-voltage batteries, too, the advancements
introduced with the fifth generation of BMW eDrive technology are
based on the BMW Group's in-depth expertise and years of experience.
The company has an exceptionally high level of know-how both in the
field of battery cell technology and in the manufacture of
model-specific high-voltage batteries. This lays the foundation for
continuous optimisation of the batteries – both in future plug-in
hybrid models and in purely electrically powered vehicles. The BMW
Group has been manufacturing modules and model-specific high-voltage
batteries for vehicles with electrified drive systems since 2013. An
independently developed modular system with a flexible arrangement
of the modules enables integration of batteries developed in-house
into various vehicle concepts. Consistent ongoing development work
is dedicated to optimising the basic characteristics of the battery
cells as well as the structure of the modules and their arrangement
in the respective model-specific storage unit. For example, the
batteries used in the BMW i4 and other future electric vehicles have
a higher number of cells per module, a reduced number of components,
a more compact design and increased flexibility with regard to their geometry.

With the establishment of the Battery Cell Competence Centre in
Munich, the BMW Group has further expanded its research and
development expertise in this area, which is crucial to the future
of electromobility. The focus is on fundamental research in areas
where there is an impact on customer-related factors such as energy
density, accessible peak output, service life, safety, charging
characteristics, response at different temperatures and
manufacturing costs. At the new Battery Cell Competence Centre,
research is being conducted in particular into the potential for
further optimisation of cell chemistry and cell design. The
selection and composition of materials for the anode, cathode,
electrolyte and separator as well as the format of the battery cells
made of these materials will have a key impact on the quality of
high-voltage batteries used in future models with electrified propulsion.
