Both vehicles, along with a wide range of BMW models, curated F&B options, a selection of the latest BMW lifestyle items, and more, can be experienced from 8-11 January 2026 at the BMW Group Pavilion at Suntec City Convention Centre (Level 4, Booth 4215 and 4216).

“This year's showcase offers visitors an opportunity to see emotion and luxury come together in the BMW Skytop, a limited-run small-series model with only 50 units available worldwide,” said Lars Nielsen, Managing Director, BMW Group Asia. “This model, made for enthusiasts and collectors, wraps the joy of driving in a timelessly elegant design and celebrates BMW’s iconic roadsters, such as the BMW 507 and BMW Z8.”

“In contrast, the BMW Vision Neue Klasse X is decisively looking forward,” continues Mr. Nielsen. “It represents the next chapter for BMW, showcasing the blueprint for future vehicles in terms of digitalization, electrification and sustainability while retaining the experience of sheer driving pleasure. While the all-new BMW iX3 is set to arrive on Singapore shores by mid-2026, we wanted customers to see where it all started from and understand the philosophy behind the vehicle that will kick-start a new era for BMW.”

  BMW Skytop.

Initially shown in design study form as the BMW Concept Skytop at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2024 on the shores of Lake Como, Italy, the two-seater roadster sent waves of excitement through the assembled connoisseurs and automotive aficionados. This enthusiastic response prompted BMW to convert the concept into a strictly limited production run of 50 units. “The BMW Skytop is a truly exotic design and offers a combination of driving dynamics and elegance at the highest level,” said Adrian van Hooydonk, head of BMW Group Design.

The sculptural athleticism of its body is constructed from taut, muscular surfaces defined by a few precise lines, the BMW Skytop emitting a powerful sense of dynamism before it even turns a wheel. The pronounced arrow shape of the bonnet, evocative BMW shark-nose design and tightening tail are all carefully chosen references to the BMW Z8.

Just like its legendary roadster ancestor, the BMW Skytop takes to the road with the most powerful V8 in the brand’s armoury. The 4.4-litre petrol unit generates maximum output of 460 kW/625 hp and teams up with an eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission. Maximising traction is the BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system, which distributes the engine’s power between all four wheels as required, and optimises stability and driving dynamics in any situation. With this drive configuration in place, the handsome two-door will sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in around 3.3 seconds.

Additional information about the BMW Skytop can be found here.

  BMW Vision Neue Klasse X.

BMW introduced several "Vision" concept cars over the past five years that showcase the brand's future direction in circularity, digitalization, and electrification. The BMW i Vision Circular, unveiled at IAA Mobility 2021, was designed entirely around the principles of a circular economy. It was made from 100% recycled and recyclable materials and emphasized sustainability throughout its entire lifecycle.

At CES 2023, BMW showcased BMW i Vision Dee, which stands for stands for Digital Emotional Experience. This futuristic midsize sedan demonstrated the potential for an intense relationship between humans and cars through advanced digital features. At IAA Mobility 2023, the BMW Vision Neue Klasse debuted, providing a concrete look at the next generation of BMW's core electric models. It introduced a new, reduced design language, the sixth-generation eDrive system for improved range and charging speed, and the revolutionary BMW Panoramic Vision display technology.

The final Vision concept car, the BMW Vision Neue Klasse X, debuted on the rooftop of the Peterson Automotive Museum in Los Angeles, California in April 2024. It is this vision vehicle that transfers the Neue Klasse philosophy and technology to the Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) segment, giving customers a glimpse at what future BMW X models, like the all-electric iX3, will look like.

Additional information about the BMW Vision Neue Klasse X can be found here.

BMW Celebrates 110 Years of Progress.

2026 marks the 110th anniversary of BMW and 110 years of progress. In honour of this milestone, more than $110,000 worth of sure-win prizes will be available to new BMW owners. In addition, two owners will have the chance to join the BMW New Zealand Snow and Ice Drive Experience, an exciting opportunity to experience BMW performance in its purest form.

The Singapore Motorshow also marks the start of sale for the limited 110 units of the BMW 318i M Sport Final Edition, and debut of the Iconic Glow Kidney Grille on the BMW 116 and BMW 216 Gran Coupé.

  New Owners Lounge.

BMW Asia will once again welcome customers who purchase a BMW at the Singapore Motorshow to an exclusive New Owners Lounge located on the second floor of the BMW Group Pavilion. Designed specifically for new owners, the lounge offers a relaxed and refined setting with curated beverage offerings, providing a welcoming and memorable introduction to the BMW ownership journey.

Additional activities for new owners include capturing their first moments with their new BMW using advanced 3D-rendering software, producing near-to-realistic visuals of their vehicle in its actual colour; and personalising a Nappa leather key cover. Available in five colours, this gift will add an extra personal touch to the ownership experience.

  BMW Lifestyle.

Visitors can enjoy multiple BMW and MINI lifestyle offers throughout the Singapore Motorshow:

The public can enjoy 10% discount on selected products, while BMW owners have exclusive access to a 20% discount.

Visitors who spend a minimum of S$50 (nett) on a single invoice qualify for one (1) chance at a Sure Win Lucky Draw, with prize up to S$100 eVoucher from Performance Motors Limited.

Visitors who spend a minimum of S$250 (nett) on a single invoice qualify for a free Limited Edition BMW Notebook.

In celebration of 110 years of the BMW, visitors can enjoy one of four Bundle Deals for at S$110 (nett), with anywhere from 40-55% savings.

Finally, for visitors coming on the following dates and times, will have the chance to take advantage of Flash Deals with discounts of more than 65%. Limit to 10 customers per deal.

Friday, 9 January 2026 at 6:15pm.

Saturday, 10 January 2026 at 1:15pm and 6:15pm

Sunday, 11 January 2026 at 1:15pm and 6:15pm

  Fun for all.

In collaboration with KOI Thé and Mister Donut, the BMW Group Pavilion presents a curated selection of treats during the Singapore Motorshow. Highlights include the return of popular menu items no longer available in stores, such as a Matcha Macchiato and selected KOI x Mister Donut collaboration flavours, including the Golden BBT Cream Donut.

Coffee lovers are also well catered for, with a Nespresso coffee bar complementing the experience. Visitors can enjoy classic Americano and latte options, alongside daily specials such as the Tiramisu Cappuccino, created especially for the Singapore Motorshow.

Little ones can also take part in a creative and sustainable activity by colouring in their dream BMW using seed paper and colouring pencils. Made from recycled materials, these can be taken home and planted, growing into herbs and flowers beyond the Motorshow experience.

To celebrate BMW’s 110 Years of Progress, visitors can take home limited-edition keepsakes, such as 110 sets of anniversary tote bags and decals, available daily while stocks last.

  Model showcase.

BMW Asia, Eurokars Auto, and Performance Motors are showcasing the following models at the Singapore Motorshow 2026:

BMW 116

BMW 216 Gran Coupé

BMW 216i Active Tourer

BMW 318i

BMW i4 eDrive35

BMW i5 eDrive40

BMW X1 sDrive16i

BMW iX2 eDrive20

BMW X3 20 xDrive

-End-

Press Contact: Francis Hung
Tel: +6568389502
E-mail: francis.hung@bmwasia.com

Press Release,Concept Vehicles & Design,BMW,Events,Design,Lifestyle Products

Munich/Shanghai. Driving dynamics at the limits of
physics: At the world's largest motor show in Shanghai, BMW presents
the BMW Vision Driving Experience, a driving experience of the highest
order. Developed on the basis of the BMW Vision Neue Klasse, the
high-performance test vehicle will be unveiled to the public for the
first time at Auto Shanghai 2025.

Inside, the lightning-fast Heart of Joy control computer, which works
in conjunction with the BMW Dynamic Performance Control software stack
to centrally calculate all driving dynamics functions, is visible in
the centre console of the BMW Vision Driving Experience in Shanghai -
  unlike later in series production.

The BMW Vision Driving Experience has been specially designed to
challenge the Heart of Joy at the limits of driving physics.

Test drivers Jens Klingmann and Elias Houndtonji, the main attraction
of the BMW Brand Night, demonstrate the extraordinary potential of the
car with spectacular driving manoeuvres. BMW presents the show's
vision vehicle in a special luminescent paint.

“This evening in Shanghai, BMW Group presented the most powerful
prototype BMW has ever built. With up to 18,000 Nm of torque, the BMW
Vision Driving Experience demonstrated Joy of Driving in its ultimate
form. Equipped with our new super brain “Heart of Joy”, the VDX is
converting the ultimate electric power into controlled driving
pleasure - no wonder we’ve experienced overwhelming feedback from the
audience” said Jochen Goller, member of the Board of Management of
BMW AG, responsible for Customers, Brands and Sales.

The first all-electric Neue Klasse vehicles will roll off the
production line at the Debrecen plant in Hungary from the end of the
year. The Heart of Joy central computer, which ensures a new level of
precision and driving dynamics, will be fitted as standard in every
  Neue Klasse vehicle.

The ultimate endurance test for the next generation of drive
    and driving dynamics control.

With the visionary BMW Vision Driving Experience test vehicle, BMW is
pushing the boundaries of familiar driving dynamics. With a torque of
up to 18,000 Newton metres, the "fastest test rig in the
world" is the ultimate endurance test for the Heart of Joy and
BMW Dynamic Performance Control developed entirely by BMW. Thanks to
active aerodynamics, the "driving machine" develops a
downforce up to of 1.2 tonnes and lateral forces of up to 3g - a
dimension on a par with Formula 1 and far beyond the requirements of
conventional vehicles in road traffic. The logic behind this: If the
hardware and software can tame the brute forces of this test rig, they
can easily cope with the demands of everyday use.

In the new functional architecture of the Neue Klasse, the Heart of
Joy is the central computer responsible for driving, braking,
recharging through recuperation and some steering functions. With fast
information processing and direct control of the electric motors, the
Heart of Joy not only achieves a new level of agility and driving
stability with fewer system interventions, but also enables 98 per
cent of braking operations to be carried out using brake energy
regeneration. This represents a 25% increase in efficiency compared to
today's architectures. The vehicle can also be brought to a standstill
  more smoothly than ever before.

Innovative, fluorescent paint for the show in Shanghai.

Although the BMW Vision Driving Experience was designed for
development purposes only and is not intended for series production,
its exterior is based on the design language of the BMW Vision Neue
Klasse. The monolithic-looking body, powerful wheel arches, recessed
greenhouse and "shark nose" front end are all part of the
purist aesthetic that will also characterise the Neue Klasse. A new
interpretation of the characteristic BMW radiator grille and twin
headlights creates a striking, three-dimensional light signature at
  the front.

For the presentation in Shanghai, the BMW Vision Driving Experience,
which had previously been covered in camouflage film and shown at a
preview in the USA, was given an innovative, self-illuminating paint
finish. The paint's special light-sensitive pigments recharge in
daylight, with even the smallest amount of ambient light sufficient.
In the dark, the colour varies from a whitish yellow to an expressive
neon yellow, depending on the state of charge. In addition, the rear
of the car has been fitted with a "magic film" which, when
stimulated by UV light, creates an expressive gradient from yellow to
orange to pink from the rear to the front of the car. These special
looks underline the uniqueness and innovative power of the car.

Munich. Developing colour and material schemes is an
independent discipline within the MINI Design Studio. The interplay of
newly developed patterns, colours, small design details and the use of
innovative materials creates a particularly harmonious, homey ambience
in the new MINI model interiors. Drawing inspiration from fashion,
art, architecture and modern furniture design, completely new design
worlds, still maintaining links to the rich tradition of iconic MINI
  design, emerge.

A key and consistent feature of the colour and material design for
the new MINI model family is their particular attention to detail. It
can be seen and sensed in every equipment variant. The colour scheme,
choice of materials, visual and tactile elements combine to create an
immersive and typical MINI overall experience.

  Innovative materials offer new design
  possibilities.
One particular highlight is the
innovative 2D weaving process used in the production of interior
surfaces made from recycled polyester. The dashboards and door panels
designed in this way create a sense of warmth and cosiness. The
weaving process offers new design possibilities in terms of colouring
and structure. It enables a dual-colour design with a particularly
striking sense of depth. This comes about when the lower textile
layer’s colour subtly shines through the upper one. This technique,
inspired by sneaker design and meticulously refined, gives the
surfaces a visual complexity, bringing a high-quality and unique
  appearance to the interior.

“The weaving process allows us to create unique dual-colour designs
that bring a special aesthetic and atmosphere to the interior,” says
Elena Schwörer, designer for materials and weaving. The woven textiles
are not only visually appealing, but also offer an attractive tactile
experience. The woven structure specially developed for the new MINI
model family is a unique selling point, setting it apart from the
competition. It also offers extensive customisation potential, as new
colours and patterns can be easily introduced.

  Colours and materials harmoniously combined.
The
headrests of the new sports seats in the John Cooper Works Trim also
feature an exclusive 2D woven surface that extends into the shoulder
area. The combination of high-quality materials and precisely
coordinated colour tones generates a harmonious, modern appearance in
the cockpit as well as an exceptionally homey character. The new
Vibrant Silver accent colour is a nuanced set-off to the contrasting
  stitching on the steering wheel.

“We wanted to use colours that respect the heritage of the brand and
at the same time create a fresh, contemporary aesthetic,” explains
Jeanette Ohlhäuser, colour designer at the MINI Design Studio. For
example, British Racing Green, the iconic colour closely associated
with the brand’s motorsport tradition, is interpreted as Dark Petrol
in the new MINI Aceman interior. Favoured Trim picks up on the elegant
colour tone in the woven surfaces of the dashboard and door trim as
well as in the seat accents. Dark Petrol also harmonises particularly
well with the Rebel Red exterior colour. This alternates between
different shades of red and orange depending on how the light falls on it.

Precisely crafted structures for a special tactile
  experience.
The overall feel plays just as central a
role in the interior design of the new MINI model family as the colour
scheme and visual appearance of the materials. The surface textures
and graining, found on almost every plastic part in the interior, are
also developed with the utmost precision. “It is important to us that
the texture of the surfaces harmonises perfectly with the other
materials, such as the woven fabric in the interior,” says Marlies
Michel, designer of MINI graining. The blueprints for the various
surface textures used in the new MINI model family are based on
influences that the design team draws from nature and science. This
could be the grain on wood or rock, for example – but it could just as
easily be a satellite photo of the earth, where fields, bodies of
water or mountains can be seen as graphics with the appropriate
resolution and provide inspiration for new grain patterns and
structures. The very subtle MINI grain developed in this way blends
perfectly with the visually strong weave and serves as a link between
all the materials in the vehicle interior.

Many small individual elements form the parts of the equation that
combines to form a harmonious, modern and high-quality overall
picture. This extraordinary depth of detail once again emphasises the
enormous leap forward in design that MINI has made with the new model generation.

Munich/Cernobbio. With its BMW Concept Skytop design
study, the BMW Group is once again bringing an exceptionally elegant,
  one-of-a-kind vehicle to this year’s Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este,
the annual beauty contest for historic cars and motorcycles held on
the shores of Lake Como. The open two-seater resembles a meticulously
crafted vehicle sculpture, with a flowing, sporty elegance that
complements its athletic, muscular stance. The interior and exterior of
the concept car feature warm monochromatic colours, blending exclusive
  materials with traditional craftsmanship.

“The BMW Concept Skytop is a truly unique and exotic design, in the
tradition of the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este,” says Adrian van
Hooydonk, head of BMW Group Design. “It offers a combination of
driving dynamics and elegance at the highest level, comparable to its
historic ancestors, like the BMW Z8 or BMW 503.”

Athletic proportions, organic body.
The clean
exterior of the BMW Concept Skytop is designed to inspire a desire to
travel. Its taut, muscular surfaces are defined by a few precise lines
that direct the vehicle's volume towards the rear. Winglets discreetly
integrated into the door shoulders replace conventional door handles.
Light-alloy wheels with precise lamellas further enhance its unique appearance.

From a bird's eye perspective, the prominent, sweeping bonnet, the
iconic BMW shark-nose design with illuminated kidney grille and
retracted rear section, all catch the eye. References to the legendary
BMW Z8 roadster were carefully chosen. Particularly striking is the
pronounced spline that extends from the bonnet, through the interior,
to an aluminium trim positioned on the tailgate, emphasising the
  dynamic flow of the silhouette.

The harmonious design of the headlights blends highly complex details
into the overall concept. The LED units, positioned on milled
aluminium carriers, were custom developed for the BMW Concept Skytop,
utilising the latest technology and design for automotive headlights
with the slimmest profile currently available. The clean, purist
design allows all lighting functions to be consolidated in a single
installation space. The flat and defined shape of the rear lights
complements the BMW Concept Skytop’s overall appearance.

The leather-finished roll-over bar behind the BMW Concept Skytop’s
two seats is combined with side fins on the B-pillar and a fully
retractable rear window. The two removable roof parts, also finished
in leather, can be stored in a special compartment in the luggage space.

The colour scheme ensures a smooth transition from interior to
exterior, regardless of whether the roof is open or closed. In the
rear section, the reddish-brown tone of the roof flows into the muted
silver with chrome shadow effect of the exterior paintwork. The
technically elaborate colour gradient was crafted by an experienced
master painter at BMW Group Plant Dingolfing.

Brogue-style leather surfaces characterize the
  interior.
The leather seats in the interior feature
brogue-style accents. The reddish-brown tone of the surfaces creates a
consistent colour scheme that gives the whole interior a sense of
luxury and spaciousness.Crystal applications are artfully embedded in
the cockpit, adding to the overall impression. The interior surfaces
of the BMW Concept Skytop were crafted in the traditional saddlery of
the BMW Group plant in Dingolfing.

There are also similarities in engine variants with the BMW Z8. Like
the legendary roadster, the BMW Concept Skytop also comes with the
most powerful V8 engine in the BMW drive train portfolio.
emission-free and circular in the long term to ensure typical BMW
driving pleasure for future generations. Production of the Neue Klasse
series models will start in 2025, initially at the BMW Group plant in
Debrecen and shortly afterwards in China.

The brand's most popular electric vehicle worldwide is currently the
BMW i4, the new version of which will celebrate its world premiere at
Auto China 2024. The success of the BMW i4 confirms the BMW Group's
open technology approach, which makes it possible to produce vehicles
with purely electric drive systems and highly efficient combustion
engines on a common platform. In Beijing, the new BMW i4 will be shown
to the public for the first time together with the BMW 4 Series Gran
Coupé's combustion engine variants, which have also been further developed.

The world premiere of the MINI Aceman at Auto China 2024 marks the
third member of the brand's new model family. The all-electric
crossover model closes the gap between the new MINI Cooper and the new
  MINI Countryman.

"What the NEUE KLASSE is to BMW, the New MINI Family is to MINI:
the most desirable product range in the history of the brand and the
biggest investment we ever made in MINI. At just over four metres
long, the Aceman embodies the basic idea of the original, iconic MINI
of 1959: progressive design, optimal use of space and a minimal
footprint.," said Jochen Goller, member of the Board of
Management of BMW AG, responsible for Customer, Brand and Sales.

The Beijing International Automotive Exhibition, in short: Auto
China, is one of the most important trade fairs in the international
automotive industry. The 18th edition of the exhibition, which
alternates with Auto Shanghai, will be held under the theme "New
Era, New Cars" and will be open to the public from 25 April to 4
May 2024. At the China International Exhibition Centre in Beijing, car
manufacturers, suppliers and service providers from all over the world
will present their new models, products and technologies. The BMW
Group brands will present their current product range on an exhibition
area of around 2,000 square metres.

China premiere: The BMW Vision Neue Klasse.

The BMW Vision Neue Klasse combines the BMW Group's innovative
strength and development expertise in the key future fields of
electrification, digitalisation and circularity. A reinterpretation of
the brand's typical design goes hand in hand with the progress
embodied by the Vision vehicle. A clear design language reduced to the
essentials with generous surfaces and few striking lines creates an
almost monolithic body. Characteristic features such as the BMW
radiator grille and the Hofmeister kink counter-swing on the C-pillar.
are brought into even sharper focus.

In the interior, the next generation of BMW iDrive offers a unique
digital user experience that merges the real and virtual worlds. It
consistently puts the driver and his needs at the centre. In addition
to the multifunction buttons on the steering wheel and the Central
Display, the driver can interact with the vehicle using the innovative
BMW Panoramic Vision. For the first time, it projects information
across the entire width of the windscreen and is complemented in the
Neue Klasse series by the enhanced BMW 3D Head-Up Display. Analogue
controls are reduced to a minimum in the BMW Vision Neue Klasse.

The increased use of secondary raw materials, resource-conserving
production methods and all-electric drive with sixth-generation BMW
eDrive technology will reduce the CO2 footprint of the Neue
Klasse over the entire life cycle of the vehicles. In order to
increase recyclability and take a decisive step towards a circular
economy, the variety of materials used has also been reduced. An
improved dismantling concept also helps to optimise the recycling of
  Neue Klasse vehicles.

World premiere: The new BMW i4, the new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé.

The appeal of pure electric premium mobility is also being
consistently enhanced in the current model range of the BMW brand. The
BMW i4 will be available in four model variants on the world's
automotive markets as part of an extensive model revision. The
Connected Home Charging Package for intelligent, solar- and
load-optimised charging at home will be offered in the first pilot
markets. The BMW i4 also offers the Plug & Charge Multi Contract
function, which enables charging at fast charging stations without an
  app or card.

The latest advances in digitalisation are represented by the latest
generation of BMW iDrive with QuickSelect based on BMW Operating
System 8.5, which is available in both the new BMW i4 and the
combustion engine models of the new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé. With the
BMW Curved Display and the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, the
enhanced BMW iDrive is consistently geared towards operation via touch
functions and natural speech. The digital update in the new BMW i4 and
the new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé is accompanied by a redesign of the
instrument panel. New steering wheels, interior trims and seat
upholstery add modern accents to the premium ambience of all model variants.

On the exterior, the sporty profile of the premium mid-range models,
which are extremely successful with both all-electric and conventional
drive systems, has been sharpened by the redesign of the BMW radiator
grille and headlights. In conjunction with the optional adaptive LED
headlights, all models also feature exclusive laser rear lights. The
range of exterior colours for the BMW i4 and the BMW 4 Series Gran
Coupé has been extended to include the new Cape York Green metallic
and Fire Red metallic variants. New aerodynamic 19-inch and 20-inch
  wheels are also available.

World premiere: the new MINI Aceman.

With its all-electric drive, progressive crossover proportions and
innovative digital features, the new MINI Aceman brings fresh impetus
to the premium small car segment. It combines the brand's hallmark
agility with creative use of space and high functionality, making it
the ideal companion in the city. With four doors and a large tailgate,
the MINI Aceman is just over four metres long and offers room for five
passengers and plenty of storage space for everyday use and weekend excursions.

As a character in its own right, the MINI Aceman appeals to customers
who value the expression of individuality and personality in an urban
environment. Its reduced, purist exterior design with clearly defined
contours and strong edges is an expression of the new MINI design
  language "Charismatic Simplicity".

The intelligent interior concept maximises space by cleverly
arranging seats and stowage compartments to make the most of the
available room. The expressive and colourful interior design is made
possible by the use of high-quality materials and innovative
technologies such as the 3D knitting process for the textile surfaces.
The MINI Interaction Unit with circular OLED display, MINI Experience
Modes and dynamic projections on the dashboard and door sills provide
a holistic user experience of light, motion, interaction and sound.

Munich. A new BMW Group Vision Vehicle provides a
first glimpse of the Neue Klasse as an SAV: The BMW Vision Neue Klasse
X brings the aesthetics, technology, sustainability, and philosophy of
the Neue Klasse to the Sports Activity Vehicles sector. The first
fully-electric raised derivative on the new architecture will go into
series production at Plant Debrecen (Hungary) in 2025.

“Together with the BMW Vision Neue Klasse, the BMW Vision Neue
Klasse X showcases the breadth of our future BMW model line-up. The
Neue Klasse reflects the variety of all the models that customers want
today and in the future – from sporty sedan, with all its derivatives,
to modern SAV family,” says Oliver Zipse, Chairman of the Board of
Management of BMW AG. “In this way, we are underlining that the Neue
Klasse is much more than just a car or a specific concept; it is
redefining the BMW brand – and, at the same time, will be more BMW
  than ever.”

The company presented a clear picture of the brand's future as a
sedan with the BMW Vision Neue Klasse at IAA 2023. The latest Vision
Vehicle now illustrates how BMW sees the future of its X models. The
BMW Vision Neue Klasse X stands for an active lifestyle, efficient
dynamics and a confident stance. Its design combines a clear exterior
design language with a bright and spacious interior. Special lighting
and sound effects enabled by the next generation of BMW iDrive enhance
the intuitive digital user experience. The three main characteristics
of the Neue Klasse – electric, digital and circular – are expanded
here to include a fourth dimension. The driving pleasure that forms
the core of the BMW brand is taken to the next level with drive and
chassis control developed specially for the Neue Klasse and with the
sixth generation of BMW eDrive technology. Its sustainability concept
also ensures responsible production, operations, disassembly and recycling.

Innovative drive and chassis control: more dynamic
    performance, more precision, more efficiency.
A new
type of drive and chassis control delivers a superior driving
experience that is tailored to individual needs. It is based on a new
software stack developed in-house by the BMW Group that will help the
vehicles of the Neue Klasse guarantee a smooth drive at all times. Two
out of four new super-brains will take the driving experience in the
Neue Klasse to a new dimension.

“Neue Klasse means BMW driving at an even higher level,”
explains Frank Weber, member of the Board of Management of BMW AG
responsible for Development. “The BMW of the future will have four
totally new super-brains: high-performance computers working smartly
together on what, up until now, was processed separately. We developed
the first super-brain completely in-house. It integrates the entire
powertrain and driving dynamics with up to ten times more computing
power. The second super-brain will enable the next quantum leap in
automated driving,” Weber continues. “Going forward, we will combine
four key control units in a single high-performance computer. The
result will be more dynamic performance, more precision, more
efficiency and even more fun to drive.”

Design: BMW X models reimagined with strong characters.
In combination with the two-box design of a BMW X model, the
pared-down design language developed for the Neue Klasse also
represents a major leap forward in both exterior and interior design.
With its increased ground clearance, the fully-electric vehicle
architecture offers new possibilities for an even more spacious
interior. It allows for a long wheelbase, short overhangs and classic
BMW proportions. Large window areas and the panoramic glass roof flood
the interior with natural light, creating an airy spaciousness that is
complemented by textiles in warm colours.

“The BMW Vision Neue Klasse X provides a look ahead to the X
models of the Neue Klasse. The same principles apply to our Sport
Activity Vehicles: electric, digital and circular,” says Adrian van
Hooydonk, head of BMW Group Design.
“The X models will always
remain strong in character: monolithic, clean and with a very
distinctive vertical interpretation of the BMW light signature.”

The new brand look for the BMW X models also contributes to the
Vision Vehicle’s strong presence. Vertically aligned LED units offer a
fresh interpretation of BMW’s hallmark light signature. Front and
centre is the BMW kidney grille, reimagined as a three-dimensional
sculpture with vertically aligned and backlit contours. Together, the
headlights and kidney grille create a lighting effect that is
activated as the driver approaches the vehicle and continues in the interior.

The rear section is powerful and athletic. Rear lights that
reach far into the centre provide a horizontal interpretation of the
familiar BMW L shape. Its 3D-printed elements are individually
controlled with variable light intensity to convey a particularly
  expressive depth effect.

Flush glass surfaces and the bright “Coral Silver” exterior
paintwork give the BMW Vision Neue Klasse X a certain lightness. In
the rear portion of the side windows, the brand’s signature Hofmeister
kink is realised not through chrome edging, but with a “reflective
print” that forms a transparent or reflective surface, depending on
  the viewing angle.

Custom user experience with BMW Panoramic Vision and
    HYPERSONX WHEEL personalised sound experience.
The slightly elevated seating position ensures a confident
driving experience. The redesigned steering wheel with multifunction
buttons, Central Display with intuitive touch control functionality
and BMW Panoramic Vision, together with the advanced voice control of
the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, serve as the effortless and
intuitive interfaces for human-car interaction. BMW Panoramic Vision
projects key information across the full width of the windscreen. It
will be complemented in production models of the Neue Klasse by the
  enhanced BMW 3D Head-Up Display.

In the BMW Vision Neue Klasse X, the Central Display is
elegantly integrated into the instrument panel, providing both front
passengers with optimal access to all infotainment functions. The
colours shown are not only transferred to the ambient light, but also
to the backlit textile surfaces of the instrument panel.

The Personal Sound Experience, presented for the first time with
the new HYPERSONX WHEEL, opens up further
possibilities. With this digital function, car occupants can enjoy
their favourite sound on any trip. The sound, generated in real time
and adjusted with the tap of a finger on the
HYPERSONX WHEEL, is an innovative contribution to the
immersive and holistic user experience that transforms the interior of
the BMW Vision Neue Klasse X into a personal experience space.

BMW eDrive technology: Sixth generation more efficient than ever.
In the Neue Klasse, overall vehicle efficiency reaches a new
level. The latest, sixth generation of BMW eDrive technology is key to
this. In addition to improved e-drive units, it also features new and
now round lithium-ion battery cells, with a volumetric energy density
more than 20 percent higher than that of the prismatic cells
previously used. In combination with the transition to an 800-volt
system, this will improve charging speed by up to 30 percent –
allowing vehicles to charge enough for a 300-kilometre range in just
ten minutes. The sixth generation of BMW eDrive also delivers up to 30
percent more range. When it comes to aerodynamics, the BMW Vision Neue
Klasse X boasts an impressive new top figure: with drag reduced by 20
percent to a comparable model in the current line-up. New tyre designs
and a special brake system for fully-electric vehicles help increase
overall vehicle efficiency by up to 25 percent.

Reduced CO2 footprint through more
    resource-efficient production and supply chain.
A
  completely plant-based, mineral-based and petroleum-free surface
material “Verdana” was developed for the interior. It will be used in
the BMW Vision Neue Klasse X in the lower portion of the door
panelling and in the centre console. Maritime plastics are also being
utilised for the first time for injection-moulded parts. In selected
components, this secondary raw material, which is obtained, for
example, from discarded fishing nets, already accounts for 30 percent.

The choice of materials and construction method enable easier
disassembly of components and improved recyclability. The side skirts
and front and rear apron attachments are also produced from recycled
mono-materials. In this, the new design concept follows the principle
of the BMW i Vision Circular presented in 2021, which relied
extensively on mono-materials to optimise recyclability.

The Neue Klasse also heralds a new chapter in production
history. BMW Group Plant Debrecen in Hungary was planned and developed
  as an iFACTORY.
Munich/Los Angeles. The BMW Group presents a fusion
of art and innovation at the Frieze Los Angeles art fair in the form
of the BMW i5 Flow NOSTOKANA. The one-of-a-kind vehicle combines
colour-change technology developed by BMW with the artistic language
of South African artist Esther Mahlangu. The designer piece, with
sections of attached film that can be electronically animated,
embodies the latest development in colour-change technology for
vehicle surfaces in cooperation with E Ink. The BMW i5 Flow NOSTOKANA
celebrates its world premiere at the fair opening on 29 February. The
contemporary tribute recalls the BMW Art Car designed by Mahlangu in
1991. “The BMW i5 Flow NOSTOKANA honours the history of the BMW brand
and continues the story of our global cultural engagement in a unique
way. It combines art and design through progressive technology. Here,
technology itself becomes art,” says Adrian van Hooydonk, head of BMW
  Group Design.

In 1991, Mahlangu designed the 12th BMW Art Car, based on a BMW
525i – becoming the first woman and first African artist to do so.
“Her art inspired me years ago, back when the concept of colour change
on a car was just an idea in my head,” says Stella Clarke, Research
Engineer Open Innovations at the BMW Group. „Now, being able to
realise this idea, and work with Esther Mahlangu, is absolutely
surreal.” The 88-year-old artist’s signature colours and geometric
patterns are perfect for bringing the innovative Flow technology to
life in the BMW i5. The versatility of the electrophoretic colour
changes makes the fully-electric sedan a dynamic work of art. “It is
fascinating to me to see how modern technology can expand my art and
make it accessible to a completely new audience,” says Mahlangu.

Mahlangu’s art meets cutting-edge technology.
In
the BMW i5 Flow NOSTOKANA, which is named after Mahlangu’s first son,
sections of film that can be electronically animated are applied, with
two strips each across the roof, bonnet and rear section, as well as
the vehicle’s sides. Like an e-book reader, there are several million
microcapsules in each E Ink film. The structure and arrangement of the
colour particles they contain can be changed by applying an electric
voltage. This allows the typical colours and patterns of Mahlangu’s
art to be generated in constantly changing compositions.

The animations are also accompanied by an equally extraordinary
sound, specially composed by Renzo Vitale, the BMW Group's Creative
Director, Sound, for the BMW i5 Flow NOSTOKANA. To combine the
soundscape of the BMW brand with that of the South African Ndebele
culture, Vitale used sequences from Mahlangu’s voice, as well as the
sound of the feather brushes she used for painting. These were
combined with sounds produced by the colour pencils employed in the
BMW design studio and the acoustic signal heard as feedback when
operating the BMW i5’s touch display. This created a sound mix that
starts off softly at the beginning of each colour change and increases
in intensity as the animation progresses.

To accurately recreate every detail of the complex
ornamentation, the BMW i5 Flow NOSTOKANA has been fitted with 1,349
sections of film, each of which can be individually controlled. The
laser cutting process used to trim the film and the electronic control
design were developed in partnership with E Ink. The adaptation of the
technology for curved surfaces, as well as the programmed animations,
are all BMW Group in-house developments.

Overall, colour-change technology is developing rapidly. The BMW
iX Flow featuring E Ink presented in 2022 had the ability to switch
from white to black at the push of a button. This was followed just
one year later by the first multi-coloured implementation. The 240
sections of film applied to BMW i Vision Dee were able to display up
to 32 colours. This latest phase of development now enables even more
colours and patterns. At the same time, the sections of the film are
more robust – which could make potential future series production
easier. However, for the time being, the BMW i5 Flow NOSTOKANA will
  remain one of a kind.

Tribute to a pioneering artist and her work.
As
a globally respected artist, Esther Mahlangu is known for her Ndebele
paintings, whose ornamentation originally symbolised major events or
festive occasions. Mahlangu separated the designs from their original
meaning and transferred them for the first time to canvas, carpets and
everyday objects, thus preserving them for the future. The BMW i5 Flow
NOSTOKANA is now reinterpreting this artistic language.

In presenting this designer car at Frieze Los Angeles, BMW
continues its long-standing cooperation with the renowned art fair. At
the same time, the BMW Art Car that formed the basis for this tribute
will also be on display in South Africa for the first time in over 30
years as part of the exhibition hosted by the Iziko Museums of South
Africa and the BMW Group in Cape Town “Then I Knew I Was Good at
Painting”: Esther Mahlangu. A Retrospective. The exhibition,
which runs until 11 August 2024, honours the life’s work of one of
South Africa’s most influential artists and cultural ambassadors.

In Los Angeles, BMW will once again be presenting Frieze Music
in collaboration with Frieze. Since 2019, the joint initiative between
the two partners has brought together a large group of musicians at
the intersection of music and art. The event’s return to Los Angeles
will be celebrated on 29 February with a live performance by Sudan
  Archives at the Hammer Museum.
Singapore. MINI Asia and Eurokars Habitat today
presented the MINI Concept Aceman at the Singapore Motorshow 2024,
Singapore’s largest annual motoring event held at Suntec City
Convention Centre (MINI – Level 4, Booth 116). The concept car is an
initial preview of MINI’s future model generation’s new design. The
first MINI crossover model for the premium small car segment comes
with purely electric drive and a clear and pared-back design language
that has been dubbed “Charismatic Simplicity”, along with a new
digital interior space experience and a material concept which uses
  absolutely no leather or chrome.

“It gives me great pleasure to introduce the MINI Concept Aceman for
the very first time in Southeast Asia,” said Mr. Daren Ching, Head of
MINI Asia. “The MINI Concept Aceman bridges the space between the MINI
Cooper and the MINI Countryman, and ushers in a new generation of MINI
with an all-electric future. The MINI spirit perseveres in the go-kart
thrill behind the wheel, an immersive digital experience, and a strong
focus on minimal environmental footprint. It is exhilarating to kick
off my first full year with the brand with such an electrifying
showcase, and I am excited for everyone to discover the MINI Concept Aceman.”

“We are ecstatic to be back at the Singapore Motorshow and able to
display well-loved models like the MINI One 5-Door and the MINI John
Cooper Works 3-Door,” added Ms. Cheryl Chiok, Managing Director of
Eurokars Habitat. “From everything you know and love about MINI to the
dynamic motor sport essence of John Cooper, there is something for
every fan and friend of the brand.”

  MINI Concept Aceman.

The clear and reduced exterior and interior design of the MINI
Concept Aceman heralds the beginning of a new design era for MINI.
Distinctive features of the brand’s two most successful models, the
MINI Cooper and MINI Countryman, come together to create a modern
interpretation of a crossover model. At 4.05 metres long, 1.99 metres
wide, and 1.59 metres tall, the functional two-box design with short
overhands create maximum space for occupants and luggage on a minimal
surface area. Chrome trimmings common in earlier model generations are
dispensed with, while strongly contoured wheel arches with large
wheels and a striking roof rack emphasise the characteristics of a
crossover model for urban driving fun. Flat and geometrically modelled
surfaces feature from the bonnet to the wheel arches, expressing
clarity in the new MINI design style.

  Interior: MINImalism redefined.

Moving to the interior, a holistic experience is offered through a
simplistic design appearance with the combination of premium materials
and welcoming colours. Digitalisation enables few operating elements
to maximise the experience that makes it characteristically a MINI.
The flat dashboard styled like a sound bar extends across the entire
width of the interior in front of the driver and front passenger’s
seats. Its soft knitted textile surfaces create a modern and homey
atmosphere, while the dashboard is connected via a support structure
displaying the Union Jack pattern, an homage to the brand’s British roots.

Innovative user interface in the form of a circular OLED display.

The central interface combines all the functions of the instrument
cluster and the on-board monitor as a round OLED display, with a
toggle switch bar set below the large screen. The redesigned toggle
switches operate the parking brake, select gears, activate and
deactivate the drive, select Experience Modes, and adjust the audio
system volume. The Circular OLED display takes up the entire surface
of the central interface, making MINI the world’s first car
manufacturer to present such technology. Moving image projections can
transfer control system content to the entire dashboard, creating a
unique digital experience extending right onto the door panels.

Three new Experience Modes for a complete vehicle experience.

Innovative Experience Modes combine specific displays and colour
worlds to individualise and personalise the driving experience in the
interior of the MINI Concept Aceman. Personal Mode allows the user to
transfer an image motif of their choice to the OLED display, while
Pop-Up Mode provides eventful navigation with surprising moments.
Vivid Mode enables an interactive design of the display area on the
OLED display and the adjacent surfaces, providing an innovative
entertainment function that can be used during short breaks when
stopping at traffic lights and charging the high-voltage battery.

A touch of the display creates coloured ‘letter bubbles’ from the
components of the ‘Aceman’ lettering. Lighting and sound come together
for a flowing transition before the start of your journey for a
holistic and interactive experience, and an exterior light show with
an interactive sound emanating from the exterior loudspeakers welcomes
the user as they approach the MINI Concept Aceman. A colourful graphic
image is projected onto the floor in the entry area in a welcome
scenario, completed by the words ‘Hey Friend’ on the display.

  MINI at the Motorshow.

Customers can make an appointment with the sales consultants on site
for a test drive at the Eurokars Habitat showroom on a separate day. A
wide range of the MINI Lifestyle Collection are on display, with up to
20% off on exclusive MINI merchandise. Customers who purchase a MINI
at the Singapore Motorshow 2024 will receive complimentary 7 years’
worth of warranty and servicing, MINI Advanced Car Eye Pro, and more.

Munich. With its latest design concept, the BMW
Vision Neue Klasse, the BMW Group is showcasing what the next
generation of vehicles from its core BMW brand will look like. “The
BMW Vision Neue Klasse combines our ability to innovate in the core
areas of electrification, digitalisation and circularity,” says Oliver
Zipse, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG. “In this way, we
are always able to stay two steps ahead of the future: The Neue Klasse
is already bringing the mobility of the next decade to the roads in
2025 – and leading BMW into a new era.”

The Vision Vehicle, which will be unveiled for the first time in
public at the IAA Mobility 2023 International Motor Show in Munich,
embodies a clear design language, with expansive surfaces and just a
few distinctive lines, that has been pared down to the essentials.
This approach accentuates signature features like the BMW kidney
grille and the Hofmeister kink of the side window graphic, giving the
design even more of a BMW feel. In the interior, the next generation
of BMW iDrive guarantees a unique digital user experience that merges
real and virtual worlds. Increased use of secondary raw materials,
resource-efficient production and a fully-electric drive train with
sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology reduces the carbon footprint of
the Neue Klasse across the vehicle lifecycle.

“30 percent more range, 30 percent faster charging, 25 percent more
efficiency – the Neue Klasse represents a major technological leap
that will take EfficientDynamics to new heights. The same applies to
its design – which could not be any more futuristic,” says Frank
Weber, member of the Board of Management of BMW AG responsible for
Development. “With the Neue Klasse, we have embarked on the biggest
investment in the company’s history. We are not just writing the next
chapter of BMW; we’re writing a whole new book. That’s why the Neue
Klasse will certainly impact all model generations.”

New BMW design language: clear, elegant,
  timeless.
The exterior showcases design elements that
will define the different Neue Klasse models. It is clear, elegant,
timeless. The new, fully-electric vehicle architecture also opens up
new possibilities for the interior design. “The design of the Neue
Klasse is typically BMW and so progressive it looks like we skipped a
model generation,” explains Adrian van Hooydonk, head of BMW Group Design.

Powerful wheel arches, the retracted greenhouse and steeply
forward-slanting “shark nose” front-end are all characteristic BMW
features. 21-inch aerodynamic wheels pay tribute to the classic
cross-spoke design inspired by motorsports. At the same time, the
almost monolithic vehicle body, with strong indentations at the front
and rear, as well as large window areas, create a new aesthetic.

The luminous exterior paintwork in “Joyous bright”, with its subtle
yellow hue, underscores the friendly, future-oriented personality of
the BMW Vision Neue Klasse. Contrast is provided by black side skirts
and bumpers. With a higher percentage of secondary raw materials and
significantly reduced material variety, targeted improvements have
been made to enhance circularity. An improved dismantling concept will
also help optimise recycling of the vehicles of the Neue Klasse.

A fresh interpretation of the brand's signature design elements, like
the BMW kidney grille and double headlights, transform the vehicle’s
front-end into a single interaction area. A lighting effect with
precise three-dimensional animation initiates intuitive interaction
between the human and their vehicle as soon as they approach the car.
E Ink elements in the lower portion of the side windows also feature
in the exterior welcome scenario, directing attention to the sensor
area that activates automatic door opening. Innovative technology
similarly defines the design of the rear lights, with 3D-printed light
elements that extend over several levels and are controlled in a
targeted manner to create a unique impression of depth.

Providing vision: Next generation of BMW
  iDrive.
Analogue operating controls have been reduced to
a minimum in the BMW Vision Neue Klasse. Human-car interaction takes
place through the BMW Panoramic Vision, the Central Display and
multifunction buttons on the steering wheel. The user experience is
rounded out by the tried-and-tested voice control of the BMW
Intelligent Personal Assistant. In this way, the next generation of
BMW iDrive offers a modern interpretation of the driver orientation
  typical of the brand.

As it did with the introduction of the BMW iDrive controller in the
centre console and the BMW Head-Up Display, the brand is once again
leading the world with BMW Panoramic Vision, which will be available
for the first time in the Neue Klasse. Information is projected at the
ideal height into the driver's line of sight and, for the first time,
across the entire width of the windscreen. This innovation will
complement the enhanced BMW Head-Up Display in the production models
  of the Neue Klasse.

In the next generation of BMW iDrive, both the driver and front
passenger are able to interact with information displayed on BMW
Panoramic Vision, creating a shared user experience. Drivers can move
content shown on the Central Display to the BMW Panoramic Vision with
  a simple gesture.

A coordinated choreography between the ambient lighting and graphic
elements of the Central Display and BMW Panoramic Vision enriches the
user experience – which can also be customised using My Modes. In My
Mode ‘Sport’, specific displays are set against a yellow background to
support dynamic driving. The new BMW iDrive is based on a highly
integrated software architecture that consolidates data related to the
driving experience and infotainment with data from the vehicle's
electronics and electrical system and the BMW cloud. Interaction
between human and vehicle can thus be tailored even more closely to
the driving situation and individual needs, enabling a totally new
  perception of mobility.

Bright cord fabrics create a comfortable atmosphere inside the BMW
Vision Neue Klasse. The light-coloured instrument panel supports the
steering wheel, which is flattened at the top and bottom, as well as
the Central Display with Matrix-Backlight in the outline of a
parallelogram. A smartphone charging cradle and the glassy selector
lever space on the centre console. The front seats are attached to the
floor by a single bracket, freeing up additional legroom in the rear
compartment, where passengers can enjoy the spaciousness created by
having two individual seats. The design of the interior, which is
completely free of decorative chrome or leather, helps optimise the
carbon footprint of the production process.

  CO2-reduced production, sixth-generation BMW eDrive
  technology.
Manufactured at the new plant in Debrecen
entirely without fossil fuels and with much wider use of raw and
secondary materials produced with reduced CO2, the Neue
Klasse will also provide significant impetus for resource-efficient
individual mobility. High energy efficiency during the vehicle use
phase will be ensured by optimising weight, air and rolling
resistance, as well as through intelligent heat management, especially
for the electric drive train, using sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology.

In addition to highly efficient electric motors, major advances in
the new BMW eDrive technology include newly-developed round battery
cells, with more than 20 percent higher energy density than that of
the prismatic cells previously used. The sixth generation of BMW
eDrive technology will improve the charging speed for Neue Klasse
models by up to 30 percent, in addition to boosting their range by up
to 30 percent. As a result of all these measures, overall vehicle
efficiency will increase by up to 25 percent.

Innovations guarantee signature BMW driving pleasure for
    future generations.
Electrification, digitalisation
and circularity are the core elements of the transformation that is
being actively shaped by the BMW Group and began with the electrified
models of the BMW i brand. The BMW i Vision Circular highlights the
tremendous potential that can be leveraged by systematic implementing
a circular economy that reduces consumption of raw materials and
lowers CO2 emissions. BMW i Vision Dee, on the other hand,
shows how digital, human-centric technology can enrich the user experience.

All these topics are now coming together in the BMW Vision Neue
Klasse, a vehicle that represents the whole range of technological
innovations through which the BMW Group is demonstrating its future
sustainability. The BMW Vision Neue Klasse signals the start of a new
era of individual mobility that is rich in digital experiences,
locally emission-free and circular in the long term – guaranteeing
typical BMW driving pleasure for generations to come.

Press Contact: PressClub Media Support
Tel: 089 382 0
E-mail: media.pressclub@bmw.de

Concept Vehicles & Design,Press Kit,Design

Munich. The BMW Concept M8 Gran Coupe illustrates the
meaning behind the letter “M” at BMW in impressive style: it stands
for “more”, more of everything. As well as dynamic excellence, the BMW
Concept M8 Gran Coupe embodies a new facet of luxury for the BMW brand
  – ultra-sporty, extrovert and polarising.

“The BMW 8 Series will take over as the new flagship model of the BMW
line-up and, as such, combines unsurpassed sportiness and elegance,”
says Adrian van Hooydonk, Senior Vice President BMW Group Design. “The
BMW Concept M8 Gran Coupe offers a look ahead to the most exotic and
alluring variant of the new BMW 8 Series.”

Symbol of a unique understanding of luxury.
The
BMW Concept M8 Gran Coupe is more than simply a luxury sports car with
four doors. It symbolises a new and unique understanding of luxury.
“The BMW Concept M8 Gran Coupe is designed to stir things up, to
polarise – it should move you emotionally,” explains Domagoj Dukec,
Vice President Design BMW M and BMW i. “With this car we want to reach
people who are looking for something special and who want to stand out
from the crowd. Here, BMW M is unmistakably taking luxury out of its
comfort zone.” Like the BMW Concept 8 Series before it, the BMW
Concept M8 Gran Coupe shows off BMW’s new design language, headlined
by expressive surfacing that accentuates the car’s dynamism more
vividly than before through its bodywork. A small number of precise
character lines underline the graphic arrangement of the surfaces.

The front end: a promise of dynamic talent to quicken the
  pulse.
Low to the road and broad in stance, the
eye-catching front end of the BMW Concept M8 Gran Coupe delivers an
immediate promise of an exceptional performance experience. The
muscular surfaces and precise contours of the bonnet hint at the
driving capability bubbling intently under the skin.

The face of the new BMW 8 Series is evident in the new Concept’s
front-end graphic. The contours of the radiator grille kidneys broaden
as they descend towards the road, emphasising the car’s low centre of
gravity. As on early BMW coupes, the kidney elements are linked by an
unbroken grille surround, creating a large single element. The
headlights are positioned slightly higher than the kidneys and give
them the impression of sitting lower, which further emphasizes the
car’s closeness to the asphalt. In contrast, the gold-coloured kidney
surround brings an added air of exclusivity to the front end. Within
the headlights, the lighting technology familiar from the M8 GTE
endurance racer provides a dynamic, hexagonal interpretation of BMW’s
signature four-eyed front end, distilling elements of modern-day motor
sport and luxurious quality into its inner details. Meanwhile, brawny
air intakes in carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) guide the air to
  where it is required.

The side – elegance meets powerful precision.
Even when viewed from a distance, the proportions of the BMW
Concept M8 Gran Coupe radiate the car’s dynamic character. A long
wheelbase, long bonnet, flowing roofline and short tail create an
elegantly sporty coupe silhouette. The emotionally rich surfacing
reaches a climax in the car’s shoulders around the C-pillars, north of
the rear wheels. Here, the roof flows into the rear by means of
elegantly sculpted fins. Lower down, the muscular flared wheel arches
offer a visual expression of the power working through the rear axle.
The smooth transitions between surfaces exude a certain sensuousness,
while the heavy tapering of the car’s shoulders combines with a wide
track to bring extra definition and athleticism. Being every inch the
BMW M car, the BMW Concept M8 Gran Coupe has a roof made from CFRP –
which lowers the car’s centre of gravity both visually and physically
  – and aerodynamically optimised exterior mirrors.

The Salève Vert paint finish, whose colour appears to change from
green to greyish blue in different lights, creates a hugely effective
surface composition and teams up with the gold-coloured window
graphic, hallmark M gills, gold-coloured brakes, wheel rims and M twin
exhaust tailpipes to give the car a head-turning, all-new look.

The rear packs an imposing presence.
The rear of
the BMW Concept M8 Gran Coupe oozes the dynamic élan and visual impact
for which M is renowned, and the wide track and flared wheel arches
hint at the car’s performance capability. Horizontal lines break up
the rear end stylistically, allowing the area below the rear spoiler
to catch more light and adding extra visual agility. At the outer
edges, the slim, sculpted rear lights with black glass covers
underscore the car’s wide stance on the road. Below them, the bumper
picks up the front apron’s dynamic theme. The prominent diffuser and
two sets of familiar M twin exhaust tailpipes together send out a
  clear message of absolute performance.

  Looking ahead.
The striking exterior of the BMW
Concept M8 Gran Coupe combines the core values of BMW M with elegance
and luxury to create a new and captivating form, and reveals a new and

  of the Year award.

Munich. BMW regularly presents limited special series of particularly
dynamic vehicles so as to sharpen the brand core: Sheer Driving
Pleasure. Meanwhile a look ahead to future developments is provided by
eye-catching concept cars that reflect the essence of the brand's pure
DNA. The public response to both is reflected in the result of this
year's readers' vote organised by the magazine "Auto Bild
Sportscars". In two rating categories, readers voted BMW Group
models "2015 Sports Car of the Year": the "Serial
Production Coupés" class was won by new BMW M4 GTS, while in the
"Concept Cars" category, the BMW 3.0 CSL Homage was able to
  attract the majority of votes.

BMW M4 GTS continues its winning streak. By winning the "Serial
Production Coupés" category, the BMW M4 GTS has built on the
success of the BMW M4 Coupé and the BMW 435i Coupé, which were voted
Sports Car of the Year in 2014 and 2013 respectively. The BMW M4 GTS
underpins its sports car status with a lap time of 7:28 minutes on the
legendary Nürburgring-Nordschleife. This performance is enabled by a
three-way coilover suspension specially harmonised for the BMW M4 GTS,
Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres in the sizes 265/35 R19 at front and
285/30 R20 at rear, intelligent lightweight construction with the use
of aluminium, carbon fibre, composite materials and high-strength
  steels and a high-performance in-line 6-cylinder petrol engine with M
TwinPower Turbo Technology. Due to the innovative water injection -
used for the first time in a serial production vehicle - the engine
delivers an output of 368 kW/500 hp and a torque of 600 Nm from a
  capacity of 3.0 litres (combined fuel consumption: 8.5 l/100 km;
CO2-emissions combined: 199 g/km)*. This enables the BMW M4 GTS to
accelerate in 3.8 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h, reaching a top speed of
  305 km/h (cut off).

BMW 3.0 CSL Homage wins the "Concept Cars" category. The
victory of the BMW 3.0 CSL Homage was a premiere: it attracted the
most votes in the "Concept Cars" category which was offered
for the first time - and it won by a very clear margin. This concept
study was presented at this year's Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este as
the BMW design team's tribute to the legendary BMW 3.0 CSL - the
timeless, classic BMW coupé icon of the 1970s.

The BMW 3.0 CSL Homage translates the character of the original into
the contemporary age, reinterpreting it in a new and exciting way.
Cutting-edge materials were used to build this concept car, including
carbon fibre (CFRP). The high-tech material is used extensively in the
BMW 3.0 CSL Homage, moving the philosophy of lightweight construction
forward to the current state of the art. As in the 1970s original, the
lines of the BMW 3.0 CSL Homage express pure dynamic performance:
striking air deflectors, powerful wheel arches and a prominent roof
and rear spoiler frame an elongated body. The front air deflector
serves to ventilate the engine compartment while the wings above the
rear wheels ensure optimum air flow around the vehicle. Small camera
rear mirrors further reduce aerodynamic drag. The large rear spoiler
increases surface pressure on the powered rear axle, thereby improving
power transmission. An Air Curtain and Air Breather guarantee optimum
wheel arch ventilation and air extraction. The 21-inch light alloy
wheels in matt and high-gloss Bi-Color finish add a particularly
striking touch. Air deflection blades in the wheel rim gaps
  additionally optimise aerodynamics.

Further top placements for BMW models. In addition to the category
winners, there were other BMW models that gained podium positions. In
the category "Serial Production Sedans", the BMW M5 "30
Years of the M5" finished second, as did the BMW X6 M in the
category "Serial Production SUVs". The BMW M135i came third
in the category "Serial Production Compact Cars".

The "Auto Bild Sports Cars of the Year" readers' vote was
held this year for the 14th time. The title "Sports Car of the
Year" is among the most important awards for sports-style
vehicles in the automobile sector in Germany, and it is highly coveted
among all vehicle manufacturers. There were 142 models to choose from
for the readers' vote in 2015. Drawn from test and road reports of the
last 12 months, the vehicles were classified in 18 categories – eight
for serial production vehicles, eight for tuning vehicles and one
category each for small-series vehicles and concept cars respectively.
The awards were presented today at the Essen Motor Show Race Night.

Winning start: BMW i3 garners World Car Design of the Year and
    World Green Car awards.

Double triumph for the first all-electric production vehicle
from BMW i. Jury lauds the individual design and innovative overall
    concept of the BMW i3.

Munich/New York. With its all-electric BMW i3, the BMW Group has
successfully brought to market the world’s first premium automobile
conceived from the ground up for zero-emission mobility. Against the
backdrop of the New York International Auto Show, the BMW i3 earned
two of the most prestigious international awards soon after its market
launch: the World Car Design of the Year Award 2014 and the World
  Green Car Award 2014.

“Right from the development stage, the BMW i3 is a thoroughly
sustainable vehicle designed for the requirements of the 21st
century,” said Dr Ian Robertson, Member of the Board of Management of
BMW AG, Sales and Marketing BMW. “Our designers created a car that,
through its design and use of sustainable materials, is an expression
  of the future.”

This year saw 28 contenders lining up for the World Car Design of the
Year competition. A high-calibre panel of design experts ultimately
presented a short list of three finalists to the 69-strong overall
jury. Of these, the BMW i3 emerged as the winner. The jury said of its
choice: “In its design the BMW i3 suggests both roominess and
efficiency – yet it is at first glance a genuine BMW. The interior is
surprising and attractive, almost like a modern living room. This
represents a radical leap in interior design. Beyond this, the BMW
designers have succeeded in imbuing the new sub-brand with its very
  own character.”

In addition to this prestigious design award, the BMW i3 also earned
the accolade World Green Car 2014. Out of 14 contestants, three made
it to the final. The judges explained their winning choice as follows:
“The BMW i3 is one of very few clean-sheet-of-paper cars designed from
the ground up with efficiency in mind. Radical in looks, construction
and powertrain, it is purpose-built with the world’s megacities in
mind. The BMW i3 pushes boundaries on many fronts.”

The BMW Group already won the World Green Car of the Year award in
2008 For its BMW EfficientDynamics development strategy in the BMW 118d.

Munich. The German Design Council has selected the
winners of the German Design Award 2014. Each year, this
international panel of experts recognises outstanding design
achievements through its prestigious premium prize. BMW Group Design
has earned no fewer than five honours in the latest German Design
Award. The winner of the highest award – the Gold Prize – in the

The award ceremony will take place in Frankfurt on 7 February 2014
    during the Ambiente trade fair.

As a contest that spotlights the design prowess of its entrants,
the German Design Award enjoys a prestigious public profile around
the world. That is not least down to the reputation of its host, the
German Design Council, which has represented the German design scene
for 60 years now. An independent, globally active institution, it
supports companies in the effective communication of their design
competence while also aiming to foster the understanding of design
    among the public at large.

The 30-strong panel of judges for the German Design Award comprises
recognised design experts from the worlds of business and research
as well as the design industry.

The BMW i3 is an uncompromisingly sustainable
vehicle designed for the urban environment. Featuring all-electric
drive and purpose-built to meet the requirements of sustainable,
zero-emission driving, it embodies an intelligent mode of transport
for major cities. The car is a well-resolved all-round concept, with
every detail optimised to fulfil its intended purpose – something
the inspirational and forward-looking design of the BMW i3 renders
tangible in many of its facets. Translating values such as
lightness, safety and efficiency into both the exterior and the
interior design, this electric vehicle is an authentic visual
    representation of its innovative technology.

BMW and Pininfarina are two of the most tradition-steeped names in
the motor industry, each a byword for cutting-edge technology, style,
dynamics and aesthetics. In the BMW Pininfarina Gran Lusso
Coupé, the two enterprises present the result of their
first collaboration. This one-off model is the exclusive
interpretation of a luxurious BMW Coupé through the eyes of
Pininfarina. The design teams worked in close collaboration to create
a new automotive persona for the high-end luxury class. Brimming with
character, it is typically BMW while simultaneously boasting the
  distinguished signature of Pininfarina.

The jury was also won over by the BMW R 1200 GS and
its consummate fusion of a distinctive form language and athletic
off-road stance. Thanks to its GS-style BMW Motorrad design, this new
rendition of the world’s most popular travel enduro is a textbook
example for the stylistic perfection of an iconic two-wheeler.

The BMW Concept Ninety film traces the genesis of
the eponymous motorcycle, which was born of a partnership between BMW
Motorrad and custom bike manufacturers “Roland Sands Design” to mark
the 90th anniversary of BMW Motorrad. The body of this exclusive
evocation of the BMW R 90 S was hand-built and reflects the harmony of
man and machine in purist, emotional guise.

The K2 LTD BMW Powder Ride Ski stands for agility,
manoeuvrability and performance on snow-covered slopes. These sporty
skis were designed by DesignworksUSA, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the
BMW Group, in partnership with ski and sports equipment manufacturer
K2. The main motif is a red fox that swoops along the entire length of
the ski. The theme of the spectacular colours, materials, shapes and
graphics on the surface of the ski takes its cue from the BMW Concept
K2 Powder Ride, a unique show car for all winter sports fans. Striking
x-shaped lines are among the eye-catching elements shared by both products.

The unique quality of BMW Group Design already earned recognition in
the German Design Award last year. The elegant BMW 6 Series
Convertible, for example, ranked among the winners in the
Transportation and Public Space category, while the BMW 1 Series and
the Husqvarna Nuda 900 R both received a Special Mention for their
  remarkably accomplished design features.

Munich. No fewer than six BMW Group models have
received the prestigious 2011 GOOD DESIGNTM Award: the BMW 6 Series
Convertible, the BMW 6 Series Coupe, the BMW 1 Series M Coupe, the BMW
ActiveE, and the two motorcycle models BMW K 1600 GT/GTL along with
the BMW G650 GS. The annual GOOD DESIGNTM Award ranks as the most
celebrated international accolade in the field of product design
  – and this year once again it honours the outstanding quality of
  BMW Group Design.

The world’s oldest and most esteemed design prize was founded
in 1950 in Chicago by the architects Eero Saarinen, Charles and Ray
Eames, and Edgar Kaufmann Jr. is awarded by the Chicago Athenaeum and
the European Centre for Architecture, Art Design and Urban Studies.
For more than 60 years now, this coveted accolade has recognised
exceptionally innovative and visionary products, concepts and ideas
that go beyond the regular horizons of everyday product design. The
aim of the award, not least of all, is to raise public awareness of
contemporary design together with related issues of sustainability.

The prize is awarded based on the criteria of functionality and
aesthetics as originally laid down by Saarinen and Eames, and is now
complemented by an ecological aspect that stipulates sustainable
design in keeping with our times. 2011 saw the independent jury of
design experts and architects sifting through a record number of
applications from around the world to decide their final selection of
more than 500 product designs and graphics from 38 countries that were
deemed worthy of the GOOD DESIGN Award.

The new BMW 6 Series Convertible combines a
stretched bonnet, set-back passenger compartment, long wheelbase and
flat waistline with a classic soft-top roof featuring a distinctive
“fin” design. The car’s powerfully contoured
surfaces and forward-surging lines are a reflection of its dynamic
  handling properties.

Aesthetes who delight in luxury and forward-looking technology need
look no further than the new BMW 6 Series Coupe,
combining as it does dynamic athleticism with exclusive travel
comfort. Adaptive LED Headlights represent an innovation in lighting
technology and draw on the hallmark round headlight look in a new
rendition of BMW’s iconic design cues.

The new BMW 1 Series M Coupe cuts a compelling
figure with its athletic demeanour and M-specific interior design. The
optimised track width of the front and rear axles, an expansive front
apron and powerfully flared wheel arches lend the BMW 1 Series M Coupe
its unmistakable character. The two sets of chrome-plated twin
tailpipes, situated at the outer edges of the rear, make for the
symmetrical look familiar from M styling.

With the BMW ActiveE, an all-electric-drive BMW 1
Series Coupe, BMW is testing everyday usage of electric vehicles. The
insights gleaned from this field test will flow directly into series
development of the BMW i3. The intelligent configuration of the drive
components and energy storage systems within the vehicle create the
ideal prerequisites for customary BMW driving dynamics and extended
functionality. This electric car offers four full seats, boot space of
around 200 litres, rear-wheel drive and a range of approximately 160
kilometres (100 miles) in day-to-day operation.

With its BMW K 1600 GT and BMW K 1600
GTL, BMW Motorrad is tapping into a new dimension of the
touring experience. Both these motorcycles present a self-assured,
imposing and distinctive appearance, sparking off a hefty dose of
  wanderlust at first glance.

With its lean and wiry off-road physique, the BMW G 650 GS
motorbike evokes an impression of lightness and
adventurousness. Its characteristic enduro design and its colour
concept are fully in keeping with the BMW GS family style and round
off the bike’s overall sporty impression. The quality and
specification of this model coupled with its long-distance comfort set
  it apart from the competitors.

BMW Group Design has already won the coveted design award several
times in the past. Last year it was the BMW 5 Series Sedan, the MINI
Countryman, the BMW S 1000 RR and the BMW Concept 6 design study that
captured the prestigious prize. In 2008 honours went to the BMW 3
Series Convertible, the BMW 1 Series Coupe, the MINI Cooper S Clubman
and four BMW motorcycles. Back in 2007, the jury of the GOOD DESIGN
Award paid tribute to the new BMW X5, the BMW 3 Series Coupe, the new
  MINI and three motorcycle models.

Singapore, 11 August 2010... NeilPryde, the
world’s leading brand of Windsurfing Sails and Rig Supplies,
announces the launch of its two high performance road bikes. Developed
in collaboration with DesignworksUSA, a global design consultancy and
subsidiary of the BMW Group, Alize and Diablo marks an extension of
the NeilPryde brand into the bike industry. The bikes will debut at
one of Europe´s biggest cycling races, the Vattenfall Cyclassics
2010, Hamburg, Germany from 13 to 15 August.

DesignworksUSA brings its knowledge in creating premium designs for
mobility related products from the automotive industry to aircrafts
and yachts leveraging its global leadership in translating distinct
brand values into compelling design solutions. “NeilPryde Bikes
is a bold step forward, both in terms of the products’ design
and the evolution of the NeilPryde brand, and we’re sure it will
be a resounding success from both perspectives,” said Laurenz
  Schaffer, President, DesignworksUSA.

The Alize focuses on aerodynamic performance through optimized tube
profiling and an extended Kamm tail. The changing aerofoil profile
along the length of the tubes manages the airflow specific to the
aerodynamic characteristics of each element – frame, forks,
wheels and components. The Alize incorporates a progressive Kamm tail
profile in the lower 1/3 of the down tube, with the extended trailing
edge morphing into a squared-off surface, enabling a more efficient
transition from the down tube to the seat tube. “Using a
Computational Fluid Dynamic modeling system, we were able to create a
design that tricks the airflow to remain laminar around the downtube,
seattube and rear wheel,” said Magnus Aspegren, Director of
  DesignworksUSA’s Singapore Studio.

Together with its client, DesignworksUSA developed an exoskeleton
design of continuous carbon fibres fully integrated into the monocoque
front triangle for the Diablo. Stiffness ribs were also incorporated
into strategic locations on the fork blades, chain and seat stays. The
design created allows carbon fibres to run continuously through
tube-joint-tube transitions, resulting in a frameset that has been
optimised for its unique material characteristics. “We are
extremely proud of the two bikes that reflect our brand essence and
attitude,” said Michael Pryde, Group Sales and Distribution
Manager at NeilPryde. “Our heritage in elegantly engineering
winning products in the water sports arena is now expanded beautifully
to the cycling world,” Pryde added.

Munich. Sheer driving pleasure generates enthusiasm
again and again. Two current models were able to win their respective
vehicle categories in this year’s readers’ vote by the
magazine “AutoZeitung”: the BMW X1 and the BMW 1 Series
Convertible. What is more, the new brand campaign focusing on the
characteristic feeling of joy conveyed by BMW was also awarded the
“Auto Trophy 2009”. The award ceremony, held yesterday at
the “Meilenwerk” in Berlin, was attended by Dr. Norbert
Reithofer, Chairman of the Board of Management BMW AG, Dr. Klaus
Draeger, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG, Development and
Ian Robertson, Member of the Board of Management, Sales and Marketing.

The “Auto Trophy” is one of the most important automobile
awards in Germany and was awarded for the 22nd time this year. Over
104,000 readers of “AutoZeitung” participated in the vote.
They chose their favourites out of 370 current models in 27
categories. The BMW X1 won the category “Off-road vehicles up to
30,000 Euros” only a few weeks after its world premiere at the
International Automobile Show in Frankfurt (IAA). The BMW X1, produced
at the BMW plant in Leipzig since September, brings the particular
style of sheer driving pleasure peculiar to BMW X vehicles to a model
in the compact segment for the first time. After a successful market
launch, the vehicle’s achievement in the “Auto
Trophy” 2009 comes as no surprise. “With the BMW X1 we
have captured the essence of the times. Customer response to date has
been outstanding,” confirmed Board Chairman Dr. Norbert
  Reithofer at the award ceremony.

The open-top BMW 1 Series was able to repeat its success from last
year in the vehicle category “Convertibles up to 30,000
Euros”. The elegant, sporty four-seater once again impressed the
public with its aesthetic appeal characteristic of BMW convertible
models coupled with the agility typical of the BMW 1 Series. Not only
is the engine range unique, with four petrol and three diesel power
units covering an output range of 105 kW/143 bhp to 225 kW/306 bhp,
the efficiency of the BMW 1 Series Convertible is also remarkable. The
benchmark is primarily set in this area by the BMW 118d Convertible,
which accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.5 seconds and in the EU test
cycle achieves an average fuel consumption of 4.9 litres over 100
kilometres and a CO2 output of 129 grams per kilometre.

The “Auto Trophy” for the BMW 1 Series Convertible was
received by Head of Development Dr. Klaus Draeger from the hands of TV
presenter Barbara Schöneberger and Editor-in-Chief of
"AutoZeitung” Volker Koerdt. Ian Robertson, Head of Sales
and Marketing, was pleased to receive the award for the “best
advertising of the year”. This prize also went to BMW for the
second time in succession. After the launch campaign for the BMW 1
Series Coupé in 2008, this year it was the new brand campaign
which met with an especially positive response. It makes
“joy” - the core value of the brand BMW - the central
theme of communication. Joy is conveyed in emotional style in TV
commercials, on the internet, on posters and in print advertisements.
The new brand campaign is designed for consistent use worldwide:
through the theme of “joy” it focuses on two main points
  - the efficient dynamics and the aesthetic design of BMW brand vehicles.

Press Contact: Manfred Poschenrieder
Tel: +49-89-382-28720
E-mail: manfred.poschenrieder@bmwna.com

Press Release,Concept Vehicles & Design,X1,Convertible,Product,BMW

This was
recognised again this year at the What Car? Green Car Awards 2009. The
MINI Cooper S won the Green Sports Car category for the second year in
a row and the BMW 318d took the honours in the Executive Car category.
The MINI Cooper S has a punchy, turbocharged engine which powers it to
62 mph in just 7.1 seconds, but returns a combined fuel consumption
figure of 45.6 mpg and CO2 emissions are just 149 g/km. Steve Fowler,
Editor-in-Chief at What Car?, said: "The MINI Cooper S is a
home-grown hot hatch that's big on performance and style, yet treads
far lighter than rivals because of its smaller carbon footprint."
The BMW 318d Saloon is BMW's most fuel efficient and least polluting 3
Series ever. A 318d Saloon records a combined consumption figure of
60.1mpg and CO2 emissions of 123g/km, while at the same time is capable
of a zero to 62mph time of 9.3 seconds. It was the blend of these
impressive performance figures that assured the parsimonious 3 Series
model with top green honours. BMW first offered EfficientDynamics as
standard in 2007. A raft of models received Auto Start / Stop, Brake
Energy Regeneration, Active Aerodynamics, low rolling resistance tyres,
Electric Power Steering, on-demand ancillary systems and optimum
gearshift indicator features. These technologies built on the existing
lightweight engineering principles and direct injection engine
technology introduced over the previous years. Across virtually the
entire MINI range, many of the same technologies are present under the
MINIMALISM title and ensure the premium small car offers an unbeatable
mix of fun and frugality.

Press Contact: Cindy Chia
Tel: +65-6838-9629
E-mail: cindy.chia@bmwasia.com

Press Release,Concept Vehicles & Design

Award's 'Best Compact Executive' crown
for the fourth year in a row. MINI Cooper S wins What Car? hot hatch
award for third year running; MINI named cleanest car manufacturer of
2008 by CleanGreenCars.com BMW's most popular model range has been
awarded the 'Best Compact Executive' car title by 'What Car?' magazine
for the fourth year in a row. And in a first for the judges from the
UK's self-styled new car buyers' bible, the BMW 3 Series only had
itself to compete against to scoop top honours. Variants of the BMW 3
Series won each of What Car?'s respective sub categories meaning the
short list of three cars were all the same make and model. The BMW 320d
ES was the actual model that came out on top. The BMW 3 Series was
voted overall Car of Year in 2006 by 'What Car?'. This latest honour is
in addition to a string of awards for the 3 Series in 2008 that
includes 'Best Large Family Vehicle' from the Environmental Transport
Association, 'Best Compact Executive' at Auto Express' Used Car Honours
and 'Best Small Premium Car' from Business Car. Klaus Kibsgaard,
Managing Director of BMW UK, said: "It's always a pleasure to be
recognised for your endeavours. The BMW 3 Series is the lifeblood of our
model portfolio and this prestigious award adds further weight to its
class-leading position in the eyes of buyers." The 'What Car?'
honour follows the announcement that BMW won the 'Engine Development
Team of the Year' at the Automotive Testing Technology International
Awards 2008. The Awards were established in 2006 to acknowledge the
efforts made by companies and engineers to improve reliability, quality
and usability in vehicles, and ensure that outstanding achievements
were recognised by the whole of the automotive development community.
The work carried out on the EfficientDynamics programme was a key
factor in the decision process for this accolade. For the third year
in a row, the MINI Cooper S has been named the best hot hatch on sale
in the UK at the annual What Car? awards ceremony. An unbeatable mix
of brilliant performance, low running costs and high residual values
are just some of the reasons for the MINI once again taking the
highly-coveted gong. In July last year, the MINI Cooper S won the
'Green Sports Car' category in What Car?'s Green Awards 2008. The
accolade was recognition of MINI's commitment to manufacturing frugal
and fast premium small cars, with minimal cost to the environment.
The efficiency gains and CO2 emission reduction provided by standard
fitment of MINIMALISM technology, which includes Auto Start/Stop, Brake
Energy Regeneration and Shift Point Display, helped secure another
title for the MINI Cooper S ahead of more recently launched competitor
models. Recognition of the strides MINI is making in reducing C02
emissions across its model range was underlined in research findings
published earlier this week by CleanGreenCars.com The website released
figures which detailed calculations of the average CO2 emissions of
each car sold during 2008, therefore reflecting improvements in the
emissions of the model ranges on offer, as well as the buying pattern of
the market. The cleanest car manufacturer of 2008 was found to be MINI
at 137.24 g/km*, while the industry average CO2 emission figure stood
at 158.7g/km. MINI's average CO2 output improved by an impressive 6.8
per cent in 2008. Further improvements will be achieved across the
range when the new MINI Convertible is launched on 28 March 2009,
meaning CO2 emissions from a MINI will be as low as 104 g/km for the
MINI Cooper D and no higher than 153 g/km for the sporty MINI Cooper S Convertible.

Press Contact: Cindy Chia
Tel: +65-6838-9629
E-mail: cindy.chia@bmwasia.com

Press Release,Concept Vehicles & Design

You always can rely on it: the BMW X3 has finished first in the
ADAC quality ranking for the second time in succession. As in the
previous year, the Sports Activity Vehicle was awarded the renowned
ADAC "Gelber Engel" prize in the "Quality"
category. Germany's automobile club thus once again deems the BMW X3 to
be the most reliable vehicle on Germany's roads. The "Gelber
Engel" award is based on an evaluation of some 2 million cases
drawn from ADAC breakdown statistics as well as a customer satisfaction
study by the club magazine "ADAC motorwelt" in which around
43,000 readers participated this time. In the ADAC breakdown
statistics, the BMW X3 was once again the model which last year made
least work for the ADAC roadside assistance mechanics, known in Germany
as the "Gelbe Engel". This experience confirms the high
quality level of the Sports Activity - one of the vehicle's key success
factors alongside it fascinatingly agile driving response. The BMW X3
has become a best-seller worldwide, with 500,000 having been supplied
as of November 2008. A pioneer and still a role model in its category:
the BMW X3. Fitted as standard with the intelligent all-wheel drive
system xDrive, the BMW X3 is a pioneer and still the benchmark for the
vehicles of its segment. This also applies in the area of efficiency.
An unbeatably economical balance of driving fun and fuel consumption is
especially provided by the BMW X3 xDrive20d. Its 130 kW/177 bhp
4-cylinder diesel engine with all-aluminium crankcase and common rail
direct injection of the latest generation is combined with a number of
BMW EfficientDynamics measures. The BMW X3 xDrive20d offers impressive
pulling power with an average fuel consumption as per EU test cycle of
only 6.5 litres per 100 kilometres. Its range of qualities has led the
BMW X3 to win a number of renowned awards. Twice in succession it was
voted "Off-road vehicle of the year" and "All-wheel
vehicle of the year" by the automobile magazines "Off
Road" and "Auto Bild Alles Allrad" respectively. The
vehicle's unique combination of quality, driving fun and efficiency
also benefit its value retention. In the off-road vehicle category, the
market analysis experts of EurotaxSchwacke ranked the BMW X3 as number
one on their 2008 automobile forecast index, showing the SAV model to
have lowest level of value loss of all vehicles in this segment.
"Gelber Engel": a seal of quality which carries considerable
weight. The quality verdict documented by the ADAC "Gelber
Engel" prize is based on the experience of professional experts as
well as customer assessments. The ADAC breakdown statistics cover all
call-outs carried out by the "Gelbe Engel" on the roads of
Germany for vehicles between one and six years old. The ranking list of
the most reliable models is based on the number of breakdowns per 1000
vehicles registered. There is also an evaluation based on a broad-based
customer satisfaction survey run by the club magazine "ADAC
motorwelt". All model series produced in numbers of over 10,000
units each for three years in succession in largely unaltered form are
assessed from these two perspectives. In addition to a snapshot
impression, this also provides a long-term picture of a vehicle's
reliability, showing that the premium quality of BMW models provides an
excellent basis for long-term satisfaction.

Press Contact: Cindy Chia
Tel: +65-6838-9629
E-mail: cindy.chia@bmwasia.com

Press Release,Concept Vehicles & Design

Receiving the Top Safety Pick for the 2009 BMW 3 Series Sedan,
X5, and X3 vehicles is one of numerous awards BMW has earned from the
IIHS over the years. In fact, as a result of IIHS crash tests in 2000,
the 2001 BMW X5 earned the unique distinction of not only being the
best SUV, but also being the safest vehicle ever tested by IIHS up to
that point. "BMW continues to be committed to both our active and
passive safety technologies, and we are pleased to receive the
Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's Top Safety Pick award for the
2009 BMW 3 Series Sedan, X5, and X3," said Jim O'Donnell,
President of BMW of North America, LLC. The Institute rates vehicles
"Good," "Acceptable," "Marginal" or
"Poor" based on performance in high-speed Frontal Offset and
Side Impact crash tests as well as an evaluation of the vehicle's Rear
Crash Protection/Head Restraints, which protect against neck injuries
in rear impact crashes. In order for a vehicle to become a Top Safety
Pick, it must earn "Good" ratings in all three Institute
tests. Additionally, as of 2007, winning vehicles must also offer
Electronic Stability Control (ESC) - a standard feature on all BMW
vehicles, known as Dynamic Stability Control. The IIHS requires this
feature based on Institute research indicating that ESC significantly
reduces crash risk, especially the risk of fatal single vehicle
crashes, by helping drivers maintain control of their vehicles during
emergency maneuvers.

Press Contact: Cindy Chia
Tel: +65-6838-9629
E-mail: cindy.chia@bmwasia.com

X5,Press Release,Concept Vehicles & Design,X3,Sedan,Product,BMW

The San Diego research firm
based its Total Quality Experience™ rankings on the ratings
received by new vehicle owners in 19 product segments. The Strategic
Vision Total Quality Index™ is the premier measure of new vehicle
owner satisfaction, asking buyers to rate all aspects of the ownership
experience, from buying and owning to performance and driving. It is a
unique and complete measure of the total ownership experience that
encompasses positive and negative product experience, reliability and
dealership experience energized by the emotional response. "BMW
is honored to be named leader in the categories of Best Brand and Luxury
Utility on Strategic Vision's Top Quality Index," said Tom Purves,
President and CEO of BMWNA. "As the index rankings directly
reflect the views and opinions of our target audience, these honors
serve as a tribute to the hard work of everyone at BMW and are
affirmation that we are continuing to be successful in providing the
ultimate ownership experience for our customers." The Total
Quality Index™ score is calculated using multi-variate statistical
techniques that measure the correlations of all aspects of the vehicle
ownership experience with initial perception of quality; overall
perception of satisfaction; willingness to be an advocate for the
brand; emotional attachment to vehicle; future purchase intention
associated with the brand; and overall experience with the vehicle.
The Total Quality Index™ was calculated from the responses of
20,655 buyers who bought 2008 models in September, October and November
of 2007. In the category of Best Brand, BMW received a top score of 911
and in the category of Luxury Utility, BMW's X5 SAV earned the top
score of 907. Based on a 1000 point scale, scores typically range from
750 to 900. Segment leaders range from 880 to 930, with segment
averages ranging between 825 to 900. Generally, scores over 800 are
good and those over 850 are terrific, although in some segments a score
in the low 800's is not very competitive. Scores in the 900's are
exceptional. Strategic Vision has presented Total Quality annually
since 1995. Since its incorporation in 1989, Strategic Vision has
studied consumer and constituent decision-making for the widest variety
of clients, including most auto manufacturers, Coca-Cola, American
Airlines, Procter and Gamble, as well as for most advertising agencies.
Its unique expertise is identifying consumers' motivational
hierarchies, including the values that shape perceptions and capture
the customers' emotional responses and drive behavior. The firm's
in-depth Discovery Interviews and ValueCentered Surveys provide
comprehensive, integrated and actionable outcomes.

Press Contact: Cindy Chia
Tel: +65-6838-9629
E-mail: cindy.chia@bmwasia.com

Press Release,Concept Vehicles & Design

BMW Chairman of the
Board of Management, Dr. Norbert Reithofer, is voted "Personality
of the the Year 2008". Munich. The name BMW Group has always been
associated with premium-level quality. The prestigious "Yellow
Angel" award presented to BMW by the German automobile association
ADAC for best performance in the "Quality" category is
another impressive example of the outstanding performance of every
member of the BMW and MINI family. Voted the most reliable car on
Germany's roads by the largest automobile association in the world, the
BMW X3 has now won the prestigious "Yellow Angel 2008" award.
With the BMW 1 Series in third and MINI in fourth place, two other BMW
Group members range among the top four performers in this quality
ranking. The award winner is selected by means of the annual breakdown
statistics compiled by the German automobile association ADAC and the
results of a customer satisfaction study carried out by
"ADAC-Motorwelt", the association's official publication.
According to the association's breakdown statistics, both BMW and MINI
models of any kind are extremely unlikely to experience a technical
breakdown. The automobile association's technicians, who help out at
accidents and breakdowns, commonly referred to as "Yellow
Angels", did not have much work with BMW X3 models. The automobile
association's expert Thomas Kroher's comment on the excellent
performance: "Little more than one failure per 1,000 registered
models is a result that is hard to beat". Front-Runner BMW X3:
Reliable and Successful. This year's award winner also received top
marks in many other categories. With its superior agility and exemplary
efficiency, the BMW X3 is the leading performer in its segment and in
many categories. A total of 22,197 BMW X 3 models registered 2007
(January through December) ensured that the BMW X3 was rated as the
best-selling car in its segment yet again. The compact Sports Activity
Vehicle has been awarded many times over for its excellent dynamic
driving performance and the "Yellow Angel" award is another
milestone in this model's history of success. Dr. Norbert Reithofer
voted "Personality of the Year 2008". Dr. Norbert Reithofer,
BMW AG's Chairman of the Board of Management also received the
"Yellow Angel 2008" award from the president of the German
automobile association, ADAC. Dr. Norbert Reithofer was presented with
the award in the "Personality" category for "his
successful, sustained management and credibility as Chief Production
Officer and in his position as Chairman of the Board of Management of
BMW AG, which he assumed in 2006" the association's statement
reads. It goes on to explain that "the man from Penzberg/Germany
successfully shifted the focus of all production processes to maximum
efficiency and top quality. Reithofer's efficiency program is a major
contribution that helped and is still helping BMW AG stay abreast of the
competition without closing down facilities. Whatever he does, Norbert
Reithofer, who joined BMW in 1987, always has the best interests of
brand and those of the people working for the company at heart."
Shortly after this success, Reithofer was voted "most credible
German manager" by readers of "Journalist", a German
media publication. For his excellent work, BMW AG's Chairman of the
Board Reithofer received two awards within a short period of time.
"Yellow Angel": Quality Kitemark with Practical Relevance. The
results of the German automobile association's quality ranking are based
on the analysis of the association's breakdown statistics compiled from
about 400,000 call-outs per year and a diversified customer
satisfaction study conducted by "ADAC Motorwelt", the
association's customer magazine. The study refers to series that have
not undergone any major changes in three consecutive years and achieved
an annual sales volume of more than 10 ,000 units in the German market.
The ranking list is compiled from the number of breakdowns per 1,000
cars and listed according to model year. The compilation shows that cars
made by BMW Group are among the most reliable vehicles of their category
not only in the year of their initial registration but also in the
following years.

Press Contact: Cindy Chia
Tel: +65-6838-9629
E-mail: cindy.chia@bmwasia.com

Press Release,Concept Vehicles & Design

The 2007 3 Series won for
"Editors' Most Wanted" sedan under $35,000, while the 2007 5
Series was recognized as the "Editors' Most Wanted" sedan
under $60,000. The Edmunds editors, in announcing the 9th annual
"Editors' Most Wanted" awards, said, "We eat, breathe
and dream automobiles, and in many instances, this love for the car
overruled common sense during our selection process. But that's the
great thing about the Edmunds.com Editors' Most Wanted list: it's
guided by passion, not science (much like the majority of car
purchases). The result of our voting is a list of cars and trucks we'd
want in our own garages". In characterizing the 3 Series award,
Edmunds.com said, "...endowed with world-class suspension,
steering and brake components, these cars have an ability to
communicate with their drivers that is unmatched in the entry-level
luxury class and, indeed, unmatched by most cars at any price."
For the 5 Series award, the Edmunds.com editors stated, "The BMW 5
Series has always impressed us with its luxury trappings in a true
driver's car. No matter which engine you choose, you'll get a sedan
that feels rock solid on the highway and nimble through tight turns.
The 5 Series may not have every luxury feature imaginable, but it has
all the features that count to us." "We at BMW are committed
to creating products that arouse passion", said Tom Purves,
Chairman and CEO of BMW (US) Holding Corp., "and these outstanding
accolades from the editors of Edmunds.com are evidence of our success."

Press Contact: Cindy Chia
Tel: +65-6838-9629
E-mail: cindy.chia@bmwasia.com

Press Release,Concept Vehicles & Design

So from now on the new BMW 3 Series Coupé and the new
BMW K 1200 GT and BMW F 800 S motorcycles will proudly bear the coveted
iF Label awarded by the world-famous in-stitute. In addition, the BMW 3
Series Coupé is receiving one of the particularly exclusive iF
Gold Awards, the most supreme special prize awarded by the
international jury in the iF Product Design Awards. The new BMW 3
Series Coupé is one of the most respected and admired new models
introduced in the international automobile market in recent months.
Through its body design alone, this two-door expresses its dynamic
driving potential in a particularly elegant manner. Like every BMW,
the new BMW 3 Series Coupé, through its outstanding design,
embodies the unique driving experience this model offers the driver and
his passengers at very first sight. Hence, the new BMW 3 Series
Coupé is a particularly authentic representative of the sports
coupé segment. From the proportions typical of BMW with the long
engine compartment lid visualising the powerful heart of the
Coupé through the long wheelbase of the car and the passenger
cell moved far to the rear, all the way to the flowing roofline with
the slender win-dows below, the BMW 3 Series Coupé lives out its
sporting ambitions in every respect and in every feature of its design.
Following BMW's design strategy, the BMW 3 Series Coupé offers a
truly unique interpretation of the convex and concave surfaces so
typical of a coupé. Over and above the sporting and low-slung
silhou-ette, the entire body stands out through a touch of lightness
promis-ing supreme dynamism of the highest standard. The stretched and
sleek dynamism of the car's exterior design is then continued
harmoniously into the interior, both the sporting and ele-gant design of
the inner door panels and the sweeping flow of the centre console
guiding the beholder's view in the direction of travel, thus supporting
the experience of outstanding sportiness within the interior. And with
the rear seats being separated by the centre con-sole, the new BMW 3
Series Coupé boasts another feature typical of a sporting
coupé, that is four seats all round. In the opinion of the jury
presenting the iF Product Design Award, the new BMW 3 Series
Coupé is one of the most outstanding examples this year of
attractive and successful product design worldwide. Precisely this is
why the BMW 3 Series Coupé is receiving not only the iF Label,
but also the Gold Award. In all, no less than 2,293 products from 35
countries were entered in the contest for the iF Product Design Award
2007. And two BMW motorcycles are also among the winners able to
proudly boast the coveted iF Label in future. As a modern
interpretation of the classic Gran Turismo on two wheels, the BMW K 1200
GT stands out through its unique design combining powerful dynamism and
long-distance touring qualities, on the one hand, with the functional
qualities of the motorcycle, on the other: excellent protection from
wind and weather, an all-round luggage system, and of course the
innovative three-chamber headlights ensuring optimum visibility with a
powerful, striking look. The two-cylinder BMW F 800 S also expresses
its athletic character right from the start through the machine's
design and appearance, offering the most modern and advanced
interpretation of sporting performance and touring qualities.
Innovative technical features such as the asymmetric headlight and the
newly developed single-lever swinging arm give this machine its
particular flair in conjunction with various design elements typical of
BMW. The iF Label is renowned and acknowledged the world over as a
symbol of comprehensive, up-to-date product quality in design.
Present-ed once a year, this special Award gives leading designers,
manufac-turers and brands the unique opportunity to successfully face
global, inter-disciplinary and therefore highly challenging
competition. In recent years the BMW Group has already won a large
number of prizes and awards, numerous vehicles as well as accessories
and lifestyle products marketed by BMW Group brands proudly bearing the
iF Label. In 2006, for example, the BMW 3 Series Saloon received the iF
Label in recognition of its outstanding design. In the annual iF
Product Design Award products are assessed in 12 categories ranging
from Consumer Electronics and Telecommuni-cations through
Household/Living, Leisure Time/Lifestyle, Indus-try/Buildings, and
Public Design/Interior Architecture all the way to Transportation and
Packaging. The criteria applied by the jury in pre-senting the award
include the degree of innovation of a new product, its functionality,
the visualisation of its purpose, safety, as well as the environmental
compatibility of a new product. Products built according to designs by
BMW Group DesignworksUSA also won the iF Award in 2007. This very
special subsidiary of the BMW Group has studios in Munich, Singapore,
and at its main ad-dress in Newbury Park near Los Angeles. In their
inter-disciplinary but integrative work, the designers at these three
studios focus on the automobile and motorcycle, on information
technology, industry and travel, objects and space, life and leisure
time, as well as home and office. In the iF Product Design Award 2007
no less than four products designed by BMW Group DesignworksUSA won iF
Awards, including the interior equipment and fitting for the Embraer
Phenom 300 private jet and the interior of John Deere's 850J Crawler in
the Transportation category. And thanks to design from BMW Group
DesignworksUSA, a recycling unit for plastic bottles and aluminium cans
as well as a vacuum cleaner made by the traditional Danish manufacturer
Nilfisk also bear the iF Label.

Press Contact: Cindy Chia
Tel: +65-6838-9629
E-mail: cindy.chia@bmwasia.com

Press Release,Concept Vehicles & Design

In the
EuroNCAP test from May 2004, the open-topped BMW Z4 Roadster turned in
the best test results ever seen in the Roadster segment. 'The BMW Z4
is as safe as it is exciting. Ever since it was launched, it has
remained the top car of its class. And now it has been shown to be the
safest of its class too, for drivers and passengers alike,' says Martin
Klanner, Z4 project manager of the BMW Group in Munich. With more than
19.000 cars sold this year worldwide by May the Z4 is the most
successful roadster in its segment also for 2004. It is keeping this
position ever since market introduction in October 2002. BMW Z4
Roadster demonstrates just what is possible nowadays: Passenger stress
is even lower than in solid-top vehicles The EuroNCAP (European New Car
Assessment Programme) assesses the level of risk of driver and
passenger injury on a sixteen-point scale. The Z4's numbers were 15.64
for a frontal impact and 16.00 for a crash from the side. These are the
best results ever recorded by this test procedure. Exciting design,
calming safety. Stability comes from within Although the Z4 does not
have a fixed roof construction, the level of passenger stress in the
event of an accident is even lower than in most modern vehicles with a
solid roof. 'This is a milestone for the development of vehicle safety
and at the same time an impressive demonstration of the strength of
innovation shown by BMW engineers,' comments Martin Klanner. But not
only has the Z4 won the top score for safety, it is at the same time
extremely deformation resistant, an important factor of the BMW
Roadster's sporting performance. These superior test results are also
confirmed by the virtual crash tests, which BMW applied in the
development of the Z4's bodyshell structure up to its current level.
The Z4 obtains its high level of stability from the central Y support
in the floor pan section, in association with the frame construction in
the side panels, which extend from the front wheel arch via the sill to
the rear section, and are made of high-strength steel material. They
are connected to the safety cage via the rollover protector in the A
column/windscreen frame, the foot-rest surfaces, with optimised
intrusion properties, and the traverse body sills with the integrated
rollover protectors behind the seats. BMW Z4 pace setter with further
innovative safety features: Run-flat tyres, tyre puncture indicator and
two-level brake light. The Z4 is also a trend setter in terms of safety
in many other areas. The sport-style, open-top two-seater is available
exclusively with run-flat tyres. The tyre faces make it considerably
easier to control vehicle reactions in the event of a sudden puncture
and it is even possible to continue driving for up to 150 km even
following a complete loss of tyre pressure. Since eighty percent of all
punctures are preceded by a slow pressure drop, a puncture warning
indicator is fitted as standard. This warns the driver well in advance,
should a drop in pressure occur in any of the tyres, before any serious
damage occurs. Another BMW innovation with which the Z4 is fitted as
standard is the two-level brake light. In the event of an emergency
stop, additional LEDs are activated in the brake lights, which have the
effect of enhancing the warning signal to any vehicles to the rear.
The Advanced Safety Electronic (ASE) system constitutes the mastermind
for a number of further, standard safety features, all included in the
Z4. It is responsible for triggering off the airbags in appropriate
situations - of course only the ones that are actually required in the
given circumstances - and activates the seat-belt tightening mechanism.
It also disconnects the battery, switches off the generator and fuel
pump, releases the central lock and activates the interior light and
hazard warning lamps. If either the 'Professional' or 'Business'
telephone - available as an optional extra - is fitted, an emergency
call is placed automatically via the 'BMW Assist' telematic service,
and the location of the vehicle stated. A voice connection to the
emergency switchboard is also set up.

Press Contact: Cindy Chia
Tel: +65-6838-9629
E-mail: cindy.chia@bmwasia.com

Press Release,Concept Vehicles & Design

The awards spanned three of BMW's model lines, including
the new X5. The awards were as follows: 1. 3 Series coupe Editor's
Choice All-Star - "Best Coupe " 2. 3 Series coupe Reader's
Choice All-Star - "Best Coupe " 3. 3 Series sedan Reader's
Choice All-Star - "Best Luxury Sedan Under $40,000" 4. 528i
sedan Editor's Choice All-Star - "Best Luxury Sedan Under
$40,000" 5. M5 Editor's Choice All-Star - "Best Sports
Sedan" 6. M5 Reader's Choice All-Star - "Best Sports
Sedan" 7. X5 4.4i Sports Activity Vehicle Reader's Choice
All-Star - "Best Small/Midsize Sport Utility Vehicle" The
full All-Star awards program is detailed in the magazine's May, 2000
issue. "We are truly honored to receive this recognition from the
esteemed editors and readers of Automobile Magazine. For us to
consistently appear on the All-Star list is a testament to our
long-standing tradition of building cars that truly embody the meaning
of the Ultimate Driving Machine," said Tom Purves, Chairman of BMW
of North America, Inc. "We are a company dedicated to creating cars
that people love to drive and are thrilled to receive these
awards." For the eighth time, spanning two model generations, the
BMW 3 Series - both the sedan and coupe - continue the tradition by
cinching three All-Star spots for 2000. In choosing the new BMW 3
Series coupe, the editors of Automobile Magazine commented, "If
you are looking for the real-world definition of the term 'performance
coupe', look no further . The BMW 3 Series coupe is as pure a
distillation of that concept as you'll find." Apparently the
readers couldn't agree more, bestowing upon the 3 Series coupe a
Reader's Choice All-Star for "Best Coupe". An All-Star winner
last year, the 3 Series sedan tops the All-Star list for "Best
Luxury Sedan Under $40,000" as voted by the readers. The 3 Series
sedan continues to define the term "sport sedan," combining
performance, handling and quality in a roomy, yet agile package which
represents value without compromise. Value and performance are clearly
recognized as winning attributes of the BMW 528i sedan as judged by the
editors of Automobile Magazine. With a base price of $38,900, the 528i
sedan was named an All-Star for "Best Luxury Sedan Under
$40,000." This is the third year in a row a 5 Series has graced the
All-Star list. As one editor declared, "This combination of
impeccable luxury and driving pleasure makes the 528i not only the best
sedan you can have for less than $40,000, but one of the best sedans
you can buy period." Perhaps the most exciting
performance-oriented All-Star winner for BMW is the new M5. With close
to 400-horsepower surging under the hood and sport-tuned suspension
keeping it glued to the ground, the M5 is essentially a
thinly-disguised 4-door race car that is capable of, not only
blistering performance, but also the highest levels of comfort - all
without compromise. With praise from both the editors and the readers,
the M5 took home both the Reader's Choice and the Editor's Choice
All-Star award for "Best Sport Sedan". In its first year of
production, the readers of Automobile Magazine have awarded the BMW X5
4.4i a Reader's Choice All-Star for "Best Small/Mid-Size Sport
Utility Vehicle". With its balanced combination of all-wheel-drive
technology plus suspension, braking and engine response, the all-new X5
is the world's first Sports Activity Vehicle, (SAV). Delivering
all-roads capabilities, the X5 sets new on-road standards for vehicles
that can also venture off the pavement. With such responsive handling
and a potent 4.4-liter V8 engine, the readers of Automobile Magazine
have recognized that the X5 stands above the crowd.

Press Contact: Cindy Chia
Tel: +65-6838-9629
E-mail: cindy.chia@bmwasia.com

Press Release,Concept Vehicles & Design

Awarding the "Red Dot for Supreme Design
Quality", the jury is honouring not only the high degree of
innovation, ergonomics and function, but also the symbolic and emotional
style of these two vehicles just recently introduced into the market.
Of the approximately 1,400 entries submitted, only 37 are receiving this
highest award. And among them the two "open" BMWs are the only
vehicles to receive the highest category of this supreme award from the
jury made up of renowned designers and experts in design. Awarded for
the 45th time this year, the "Red Dot" is one of the most
significant international prizes in design. For many years BMW products
have regularly been among the winners. Together with the other
prizewinners, the prizewinning BMWs will be on display from 19 June 2000
in the International Design Exhibition held by the North Rhine Westfalia
Design Centre in the German city of Essen.

Press Contact: Cindy Chia
Tel: +65-6838-9629
E-mail: cindy.chia@bmwasia.com

Press Release,Concept Vehicles & Design
